Question: GPU Support

I have an Alienware Aurora desktop from 2,010 that has an Alienware 4VWF2 motherboard in it. I also have 3 monitors connected to it, each with a maximum supported resolution of 2,560 pixels wide by 1,080 pixels high (no 4K here), although, I did see some similarly sized monitors to the ones that I have that are said to support the 4K resolution. (Although, since I only recently received my current monitors, it might be a while before I upgrade again. But, that might also depend on the answer to my question.) Alright, on to the question. What are the specifications of the motherboard mentioned above? I am specifically curious about its GPU support. Although, other information (e.g., CPU support) would be nice to know. I want to use a spanned desktop that utilizes the full resolution of all of my monitors. Currently, I have the desktop simply extended (not spanned through the Catalyst Control Center (or whatever Nvidia's equivalent is, as I have not dealt with Nvidia's software in a long time), as I prefer to have it) across the 3 displays. But, 2 of them are running at a resolution of only 1,920 pixels wide by 1,080 pixels high while the third runs at the full 2,560 pixels wide by 1,080 pixels high. Therefore, I am considering upgrading my GPU (also per suggestion [ https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-hardware/size-windows-to-fill-workspace/32752620-7a06-41a2-a8cb-009514d72058 ]). But, I do not know what GPU models are supported by the motherboard. I replaced the GPU fan once. But, only the fan was replaced, not the card itself. The current GPU installed is the AMD Radeon HD 5870 (the original card, but with a replaced fan, since the original fan had died).

i currently have a dell Inspiron 5558 laptop for over an year now but the screen stop working over 6 months ago, i looked up the warranty information at the time of screen stopped working and was re-assured that it showed February 18, 2017 therefore i did not consider that it is very urgent to call tech support since i have other laptops. today when i call the support service, i was informed that product was not registered and i have to pay $233 to replace the LCD screen, they still argued that dell warranty website showed the correct information but when i looked it up, the website still displays the same.  did anyone else encounter this issue??

The only supported card on this model is Intel 7260 2x2, 802.11 BGN .and the applicable BIOS version is 96CN29WW (V1.15)
 
Can you please explain more what is the issue with your Wifi

 I bought TPS230U in may2013, and one monthe ago, the laptop just turned off by itself and wont turn on anymore. I had tried troubleshoop refresh and resetting options but it doesnt work.
My warranty certificate is still valid for itnernational support (now I live in  Brazil), so that, I called Brazil“s support (My laptop ID is: Type 3347 2GU S/N xxxxxxx 13/02.
At the first time I contacted by phone, the attendant asked me to (once again) turn off the laptop  and call back again. Well, I did it, adn (of course) it didnt work. So I called once again. The second the new clerk said I should buy a cd or dvd ( which could not be via USB stick ) , download from other computer and copy  an image file  that lenovo would understand the problem . I explained that I had not cd to record that moment. But he was very rude, and told me that it the  support goes to my house and concludes that there is a software problem and not hardwa, I was supposed to pay for the visit. So, I went to a store and bought a recordable CD , recorded the ISO file and got home to insert it into the laptop and....for my surprise,  my laptop doenst have any  entry for CD ! I feel that lenovo has been really disrespectfull with me and all I want is to have a simple support to my laptop, but I still couldnt have. Pleaase let me know how can I solve this problem before my waranty term expires!!!

I have a T430s laptop and it is less than 6 months old. It starting getting blue screens within a month of purchasing it. Technical support has been helpless in trying to fix the laptop. First, tech support told me to turn update my computer daily. Then another tech support employee told me to turn OFF my auto updates. This did nothing and over a few weeks the blue screens progressively got worse. Next, tech support told me to run a diagnostic on my computer which turned up nothing. Then, they tried giving me recovery discs and a new hard drive. After that failed they took it in to replace the system board which made the blue screens worse. Then they sent me MORE recovery CDs to try to fix the problem and that also made the blue screens worse. I called tech support after this and they said they would send in a request for a replacement laptop. I was told I would hear from someone in a couple days. FIVE days later I got a called from someone asking if I wanted a replacement and I said yes. Then I was told I had to wait two more business days to get contacted about it. Another 3-4 business days later, someone called me to tell me that they would NOT be replacing the laptop despite the fact tech support could not fix the laptop. After calling tech support once again, I was told that they wanted me to send in my laptop again for up to 7 business days! This is completely unacceptable. We are Dell resellers and had placed an order for 43 Laptops - Dell Latitude 3560 with Dell on 13th June, 2016. We delivered them to our customer on Friday 17th June, 2016. On Monday 20th June we discovered that all the Laptops are faulty and are not functioning properly. They have not been able to use a single system due to touchpad issues in the entire lot
We have made innumerable calls Dell to resolve the problem, but the team is unable to identify and rectify the problem. 
We have spoken to our partner account manager, regional account manager, Service Specialist and Escalation Team, requesting them to provide us with a solution at the earliest as their work is getting hampered. Our customer has to deploy the same by 1st July however they do not have any Dell Laptops functioning correctly.  
How do we escalate this to the Dell management and get a replacement ASAP

Started about a month ago - pops up over and over and over and over - about every five minutes or less.  I've got a Dell Studio XPS with Windows 7 Professional.  Another forum said to just uninstall Dell Support Center (Support Center Software) - but when I try to uninstall it - THE SAME STUPID WINDOW POPS UP ASKING ME TO INSERT THE SOFTWARE.  I tried doing a Browse and it's looking for DSC20.msi.  I haven't managed to find it yet.  I have at least found \Program Files(x86)\Dell Support Center but there's so many sub-directories...
I shouldn't have to be jumping through so many hoops just to uninstall a program.  This is driving me crazy and I haven't found an answer online yet.

Hello there, I'm interested in finding out more about the X220 - In particular the actual bandwidth available to the i7 Version of the X220 with it's USB 3 port. I'd like to be able to use the Black Magic Design Intensity Shuttle with this laptop, however it requires a Super Speed USB 3.0 Port. It's common for laptops to only use a single PCIe lane interconnect, giving the USB3 Port only 2.5gbps of available bandwidth. This won't be enough to allow that capture card to work  A similar situation also exists for the Expresscard slot - To be able to support Expresscard v2.0, It needs to provide 5gbps (2x PCIe v1 lanes). If it does this, It's possible I can buy an USB 3 Expresscard which will have enough bandwidth to use the card. In short I would like to know if the super speed USB 3 port can actually function at the intended speed, and is not crippled to half rate.

Someone told me in another thread, and I also read here, that



All Wireless N routers support dual-band 802.11nClick to expand...

implying that any wireless N router can use the 5 GHz band as well as the 2.4 GHz band. Isn't that the implication?

Then why is it that when I browse routers, only some of them list both 2.4 and 5 GHz frequency, while others list only 2.4 in the specs? I want to switch my network over to 5 GHz in order to get away from all the interference I'm getting, as discussed in this thread.

So what's the real answer? Will any cheap "wireless N" router be able to do 5 GHz, (e.g. this one?) or do I need a more expensive dual band one?

No. The 802.11n standard supports 5GHz, but does not require it. Now if a device was 802.11ac, it will have a 5GHz radio since that standard only works on that freq.

When I installed Win8 on one computer I need a H.P. printer driver. So I went to H.P. support/download did not find the needed driver so I called their Tech. support. A friendly support guy looked at my system and told me my copy of Microsoft Win8 bought at Best Buy was not a legit copy, also my system had been infected and they needed to remove my Win8 clean my system and reinstall Win8. made me a deal of a reduced price of $250US I knew this was not right so I begged them good buy went to Best Buy where I have good friends in the Geek Squad. they got the needed driver and printer works fine.
Today my Netgear routher died, called Netgear to get my lifetime warranty. This also was a support in India guy said it would cost $39US to make sure it was the router I said thanks but no thanks. Took my old Netgear router back to Best Bye where I bought it three years ago and they gave me a new Netgear router. I needed setup help so called Netger as new user also in India guy was friendly looked at my system and helped me get it setup. Then he informed me my computer was under attack and my files were being read he could fix my system and protect my files for the small sum of just $85US. Well I was using a small backup H.P. computer on the Net. hardwired and it was almost never used. So I knew it was a India Tech. support scam again.

This is a General question regarding the end of support for XP. I realise at the end date the computer should be backed up in case you have to format the disc at any time after the end of the support period.

My question is does the built in Windows back up in XP when backing up the system include the installed updates? Or is it best to use third party software to do this.

I believe Windows just backs up your personal files and won't do the entire OS. You'll need a 3rd party program to do the entire HDD.

Also you really should think about upgrading to Windows 7. Staying on XP after the end support date is not recommended as you will lose security updates from Microsoft as well as patches.

So I am sitting here on my MacBook Pro which in my opinion does not have any wireless issues whatsoever, it works. I still own this ThinkPad with a garbage wireless card, and I feasted my eyes on an Intel 7260 but lo and behold, it isn't on the whitelist! Scouring eBay and Amazon I did find a FRU, but would the number of that FRU be the same on the Hardware list? Lets see, well I cannot even find it. All I get are Page Not Found errors which to me is a hilarious joke of Lenovo's support. What does this mean for me? Is my X230 at a very very unnecessary end of life? Should I like, fork out £1400 for an "upgraded" model that probably won't fix most of my problems? My problems is money and saving money. Should i now look elsewhere? No, because I'd rather keep my money to actually FIX my current laptop's problems (the N2200 is a garbage card and would like to replace it with something that's up to date to todays technology but that isn't happening by the sounds of it) I am frustrated with my current laptop's problems and it's having a large effect on my studies. And possibly you can also lose customers by inadequate non-existent support and failure to give us the freedom to actually let us upgrade for those who do. For those who don't, more like.

What is wrong with MS Tech Support, they say they dont support One Drive. I cannot connect to One Drive with any of my Windows phones, iPhone, or Android cell. I called tech support and they told me they are not trained to support One Drive for cell phones. I have spent lots of money on my equipment to be told they do not support it.

Some how my old friend managed to upgrade my PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 with that chipset driver CD I gave him. I don't know how he did it. I would ask him but he moved to Germany. Anyway I've heard you can run the setup with Windwos Vista compatiblity mode but I don't know if it is safe. Anyone know?
 

Answer:Motherboard support CD does not support your operating system

Download the drivers from the manufacturers website. The driver CD is likely outdated anyway.

hello to everyone!!

im working as a tech support agent for one of the biggest ISP in the US.. its a good paying job and also very challenging.. i use to troubleshoot internet connection issues for residential accounts (1 pc only) and for all other issues that i get, i browse for similar issues on the forums of this site.. well, most of them came pretty handy (esp for the security forums).. now, i got transferred to the networking department and im in a total loss!! i can do simple troubleshooting and install assists for new networking users but i really need help in issues like:
1. remote access/ port forwarding
2. invalid IP addresses on the wireless devices
3. file and printer sharing
i was browsing through all the topics but i cant find any.. if there is someone out there who can help me with this issue and give me some pointers on how i am going to do this in an easier way.. i would really appreciate any assistance..

I think the revamped Support Assistant is brilliant - especially for drivers where it checks your PC, rather than give you a list of driver updates for your model, as the old website-based Driver Update checker did. It has an "Add a device" facility but it doesn't find my HP DCP_J315W printer, connected via wireless. Does Support Assistant support printers? edited 08:07: typo

Hey guys I have acer laptop. I got some issue with USB ports so acer service center engg came to my house and after opening the screw he said hings are broken. That's it and fix the USB ports issue and went. After 2days my laptop's back body start breaking and when I call acer support they said we are not allowed to register on hardware issue. It took a month to register one compliant . And they never bother about that. They are like it's hardware issue you have to pay.. My laptop is in warranty period and It not my mistake boz I never had issue of hing n ol. Now it's almost 3 month over still they are like we will update you in 2 days.Worst services ever I seen is acer.

Dell Support "Assist" just ran without giving me an option to stop, pause, or control in anyway.  It was using nearly all computer resources (I could barely save the word document I had open at the time).  This isn't "assist" more like computer take over.

How can I control the S. "Assist"?  How can I adjust the time between it's runs (currently it looks like monthly)?  After finishing it's scan or whatever it finally closed (cuz it wouldn't close the 20 times or so I clicked the "X").  I then opened it, looking for some results of the scan, and found none.  How can I view results?

Right now, seems like worthless bloatware.

Also, there is not a [New Post] button on the Laptop Forum (at least for me).

I purchased the Lenovo brand because it offered many more features then the competitors within the price range we needed.  My son needed it for school so of course we went with the i7 processor because we were told it was the best and wanted to ensure we didn't have an outdated computer within the next few years when our other children would begin to use it.
 
Our computer is not charging and I have contacted every department I could think of and was referred to some others along the way.  I am very stressed and upset on how my problem/question is being handled.  I was hoping to get everything resolved before school starts again on Jan 3rd so my son doesn't fall behind. 
 
The history of my purchase:
 
I purchased my lenovo ideapad y560 in 2010.  Upon arrival it did not work and I had to send it back for a replacement (this order# 2FL8RF  S/N ******** was ordered 9/13/2011 shipped 9/17/2011 a return authorization generated 9/23/2011 and you received the unit back on 10/23-10/24/2011).
 
 My new one came and the start date of warranty was 10/6/2010.  A few months in I called in again for the blue system screen and was told I had to restore my computer with the restore button which I did even though I lost all of my work and applications.

So Im trying to get Win7 RC1 x64 to work on my laptop with a Radeon x700 in it and can't seem to find any working drivers or "trick" the system into using drivers. Thus I am stuck with the "default graphic card" (or whatevers its called) crap. Everything else works great on the laptop except that.

So has anyone found workarounds to this yet?

Have you tried downloading windows updates yet? You should get vidio drivers from there.

I can no longer get to the help and support section from the start button. I have recently added AWC(Advanced Window Care) proffesional and have stopped some services from running, but none that said help and support that I remember. I get a message that says Windows cannot start Help and Support because a system service is not running. To fix this problem start the service " Help and Support" I can still get to the restore to an earlier state from the AWC program. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello:

You can manually start and stop services using the Computer Management console.

What you want to do:
Start >> Right-click My Computer >> Select Manage
OR
Start >> Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >> Computer Management

This will bring up the Computer Management console.

You want to navigate to the Services and Applications node in the left hand pane. Click on the + sign to expand the node and select Services. Click on anything in the right hand pane and navigate to the Help and Support service. Under normal circumstances, this service is started automatically as a Local System service. Right-click it to bring up the shortcut menu and choose Properties.

Once you are in the Properties applet for the Help and Support service, check to see what the Startup type: pull-down menu shows. Most likely it is probably showing "manual". You can use the pull-down menu to change it to "automatic" and it will start up automatically when you restart your system - unless there is another program that is preventing this. What you are really most interested in doing is starting the service manually if it is not starting up.

Under Service Status you can click Start.

Post back if this does not work for you.

Ms sister's dell computer broke down many weeks ago.  After taking to 6.02x10^23 "tech support" People, a "technician" came out to try and fix it.  He couldn't.  So we sent it to a "depot" to fix it.  It just came back today and it wasn't fixed.  The battery had died, and by the time it came back it was still dead.   Additionally, all her data was gone. My question is,  how on this earth could a computer be sent in to get fixed, then come back in worst state than it was when it left???  HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?!

Question: support

My query is as to the service policy. My computer has a non working keyboard, and is out of warranty.  I am willing to pay for the repair.  However the HP support staff in Hong Kong (yesterday) refused to give me even an idea of the cost of this unless I take the machine in - oh and pay a HK$700 inspection fee.  Which will not be credited against the repair cost. More annoying is the fact that the service officer - Mr Kelvin Lai refused to call me back to discuss, and refused to give a working phone number. After 3 years the machine is unusable.  But it is in better condition than the HP "support service". Never again

I talked to your CDW rep today about how they can't do BES support anymore.
So he says we can get some basic support package for about $525 that is email submission only, 8 hour response. This is for 30 or less users.
He says it is per server. But I can't quite tell, because this says "named callers: 2"
So it seems like we can just get a package for 2 named callers, and it doesn't apply to a specific server or SRP or anything.

Is there any kind of per-incident thing? That's what we do with Microsoft. Maybe once or twice a year we pay them $150 or something to help us fix an issue.

I use AVG Internet Security 7.5. Is it just me or has there been a reduction in the quality of their support of late? A while ago an e-mail support request was answered within hours at worst, now it takes days & the tech who replies obviously hasn't read properly &/or comprehended the request.

Hi.

I have a USB-connected Enu TV adapter (company: Encore), through which I was able to watch TV on my older PC (Windows XP with SP2).

I changed the PCs. Now it is on a PC with the Service Pack 3 for Windows XP, but the software for Enu TV cannot be installed anymore. Communicating with Encore, I had to find out that they just don't support SP3 with their software, what a damn bad thing! They told me I have to "downgrade XP by uninstalling SP3" in order to keep that item functional.

I did with bad, really bad feelings and certain violent fantasies featuring the CEOs of Encore, and had to find out that EVEN THEN the Setup does not start.

I re-installed SP3 again, and want to find out now what other solutions/software are out there which can make my Enu TV USB TV Adapter still usable. Is there something like a universal software, able to address many TV adapters on the market?

Or, is there anything to get that Enu software installation running again?

As a new user of this group can anyone advise me how to recover the Help and Support in Windows XP. If I click on Help and Support in START all I get is a momentry flicker of the egg timer, then nothing. If I look for the Help and Support programme HelpCtr.Exe its there in RegEdit! Something must have disturbed the start process. Any advise would be most welcome.

Hi i recently installed windows 7 ultimate 32bit from Xp and there is a problem with internet i bought a Network adapter it shows that the internet connection is available but when i go on IE7 the connection speed is slow it takes about 10minutes to get to google . do i have to download some extra drivers ?

If the network connection is working, then it's unlikely it's a driver issue. Unfortunately speed problems are notoriously difficult to pin down, but lets give it a shot.

Firstly, I see you have filled out your system specs, so well done you However you seem to have omitted your network adapter. If you can tell us what it is (make and model) we may be able to find you some updated drivers, the one's that come with the adapter are very rarely up to date.

Hi all,
I just got a new USB card reader and a replacement and both are very temperamental in when they decide to work or see cards put into it, often giving I/O errors.
I use XP SP1 and basically i need to know if Windows XP SP2 has better support for card readers that would fix this like the sellers tell me. The thing is i dont want to install SP2 for various reasons.
Ive got the latest USB drivers for the motherboard (SiS 748 chipset) and as far as i can see everything looks good system wise.

I find USB does work better in SP2, with no service packs at all, It was giving me errors with my USB. Stuff like (You are plugging in a USB 2.0 device in a USB 1.1 Port) and stuff like that.

Question: s10-3t support

The Lenovo site support for downloading drivers and firmware doesn't allow you to select s10-3t for a model...how do we download BIOS updates and whatnot?

BIOS should be the same on all s10-3t. The model is just to differentiate which brand of module are installed into it. Like Networking: Wireless for example. You will see several drivers. Some models have a Broadcom brand, while some have Atheros or Intel. You can see which module you have by checking Start->right click My Computer and select Properties-> Device Manager -> Network Adapter. Then just download the drivers for it if there's a new one.

When I go to the start menu and prompt "Help and Support" nothing happens. I really don't know when this started because I really haven't had a need for this until recently, when I was having some issues with another computer I was working on at the time and needed to access Help and Support. Does any body out there have any ideas with what's going on and is there a way to find out if they can be found or will I have to maybe reload something from my XP disk?

What should be the minimum power supply for an intel i5 2500k and a sapphire radeon 6770? Right now I'm running a Corsair 600x power supply.

Should be plenty, assuming it's of decent build quality.

Corsair subcontracts its PSUs to other manufacturers and I don't know who makes that particular Corsair model. Corsair sometimes uses good manufacturers like Seasonic and sometimes uses middle of the road outfits like Channel Well and Flextronics.

A quick Google says that card uses a max of 108 watts--I don't know if that's accurate.

I have an i5-2500 CPU system with 3 hard drives and no video card---it never uses over 150 watts when pounded hard, including the monitor.

So, if 108 watts is accurate for the video card, you probably would never use above 300 or so. In which case a good 500 watt PSU would be fine.

I recently bought a p50s from the outlet, and to begin with it had lesser specs than advertised (sata ssd instead of m.2, ddr3 ram instead of ddr4- see this thread for details: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-P-Y-and-Z-series/Laptop-ordered-from-outlet-has-lesser-parts-tha... ) Now, it has been freezing regularly whenever it's moved when on- it gets a few squares with multi-colored pixels and gives no error message. I just have to force it to turn off by holding the power button or it will sit like that until the battery dies. Lenovo email support has been "down for maintenence" for weeks and chat says they aren't able to help me. Please stand behind your product.

I have just built a new computer using Vista Ultimate x64 and a single GTX 280 on a 790i motherboard. I play Everquest a lot and find that when I try to load it I get a message that no 3D devices found. Going into dxdiag I discover that there are no DirectX features available. I am using nVidia driver 7741. I had to also download directx 9 to run the game. What can I do to get 3D support? My device manager recognizes my card. I'm lost here.

I cannot access the Help and Support section under the Start menu. I have windows XP home edition with SP2. I have never had this problem before. When i double click Help and Support nothing happens. I checked in Services in the control panel and this service is set on automatic and is running.

To reinstall Help and Support: Go to C:\Windows\inf\pchealth.inf. Right click and choose install. Have your CD handy.

While trying to fix my computer these last few weeks, with the help and support I received here.
I have a question, but I don't know if it has merit.
I seem to remember somewhere along, in through the many postings, someone said something about being unsupported, and I believe that my pc may be just that. After running D Ban I knew I would be destroying my windows 7. But I was led to believe, I think, that I could get everything back to the way it was before, by having my 25 digit code that referenced my copy of windows.
Since then I have never been asked or directed to enter this number anywhere.
I think in my head that I am unsupported, because when I am asked by windows or Dell i can't remember which at this time, do I want to search for the drivers I need to download, and it comes back unable to do this. And the same if I choose to upgrade a driver too. I have Internet connection so it is not that.
Can I enter my 25 digit number in to my computer some way or some how and be supported, or am not right about any of thiis.
My reason for thinking this is, every time I go back to a restore point I have to download all my drivers manually, it seems they should be there to install just by saing yes I want to install my drivers. I also have a disk of utilities and drivers, the only disc that came with my computer, but it seems my pc will not download my drivers from this disk. The 25 digit number referred to would be your product key which you would have entered when you installed Windows. Windows then activates it online. It usually takes about 30 days to activate. If it's been longer and Windows hasn't told you there was a problem with activation you should be fine there. From my experience it isn't uncommon for drivers to fail to install properly. The drivers on the disk are probably outdated. I'd suggest going to the manufacturer's webpage for your MB, and other devises and download the newest copies. It would also be a good idea to go into Device Manager in the Control panel and uninstall the old drivers before installing the new to prevent conflicts. I have an HP EliteBook 850 G2. It is my work laptop and came with a primary 180 GB SSD. I notice that there is another PCIe based SSD slot and some literature suggests that I can add a 256 GB PCIe SSD. I need to know which is the compatible card.

Yoga 2 Pro laptop with accidental damage protection and a cracked LCD. I have been trying for days to get hold of someone at lenovo.  Online chat stays open for around 45 minutes, gradually counts down as my place in the queue  gets to the front, and then abruptly ends with the message that no one is available. After completing the Win7 installation, (including all Drivers and Updates), did you carry out a Disc Clean Up and a Defrag of the HDD?

Windows? (all versions) by its very nature is extremely lazy when it comes to installations; it always leaves 'junk' and temporary files on the computer; these can be the main culprit of the cause of 'slow' operating.

Your Lenovo? Z570 does support Windows?7.
Carry out the suggested tasks and post back with the results.

Ihave checked with reinstall the os as well try to reinstall pc suite also but issue is still being pursyst.

Hello guys,

It's been quite some time since I've last posted with some technical problems. Generally I can fix them, but this time I'm requesting information.

I'm looking to upgrade my HDDs.
I have..
1x 500TB
1x 640GB
2x 1TB
1x 160GB

I want to replace the 500GB & 640GB, eventually the 1TB drives with 3TB Drives.

Here's my question:

Since 6TB Drives (6TB Drive - NewEgg) are so new, are there ANY Hardware specs that I need to look for? I had issues with a 4TB Drive, and Windows was splitting the drive into 2 drives, when it was only 1. But that was a Mobo related issue.

As any hardware the 6 TB hard drives have technical support, for any assistance you could always contact the certain manufacturer, in this case WD:

These drives are not with any more different specs than other hard drives. Though, here, saying that the more space there is, the more it's filled, the more it should be kept safe, applies.
You plug in the drive, your PC should recognize it full 6 TB, all as one drive as it is, and you continue on partitioning and formatting; just don't forget to format it in NTFS, so that you don't have problems.

After XP SP2 support ends I was wondering what the situation will be for reinstalling Windows, when the original disk is SP2?Would an ISO SP3 disk created now still work in a few months (or years) time?ThanksDennis

If you were able to install from the disk before you will be able to do so in the future. Microsoft discontinuing support for an OS has nothing to do with the ability to install the product. I expect that Microsoft would eventually stop activating XP but that would be long past the support date. Since XP is still in widespread use I would not expect that anytime soon.

Is there HID support for Windows Phone 8.1, or the Denim update? Will it be supported in Windows Mobile 10? Is it supported on Lumia 920? I want to be able to use a Bluetooth keyboard to use the remote desktop app and manage my PC from school.

Please check your Event Viewer for error messages relating to this. Go to Start and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes). Look in the Windows logs for errors that occur around the time of the message. Let us know what you find and we'll work from there.

Hi This Y900 341SZ  desktop computer that is still under warranty is the worst computer for continuing problems I have ever owned. I have been forced to reset it to its original default state which involved hours of installation of my games and other software purely to overcome the problem of not being able to install a Critical Bios Update. After that came the frozen screen problem and the failure to wake up from Sleep Mode without every fan going to continuous full power at Startup. Next came the awful drone from the CPU Cooler Fan if the bios was set to its default state of Smart Auto. I had to run it set to Manual. However, the noise from the fan is still far too loud to be acceptable. I previously owned a Medion computer which I bought for one third of the price I paid for the Ideacentre. It never let me down during the 10 years I owned it. Sometimes the mouse will not be activated after the Lenovo computer starts up. Then you have to relocate the mouse usb cable to make it work.The service people who appear to be located in Greece are keen to help until they find they are unable to put it right when they totally ignore all your subsequent requests for help. I followed all their instructions but various problems still persist so this computer is "not fit for purpose". So far the phone bill to contact Lenovo Service Dept. is running at £17.Lately the Lenovo Companion App for Windows 10 has stopped working. It's not as though I don't know about computers, having... Hello. I have this motherboard BIostar gf7025 n630 and I just bought AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ with the number ADO4800IAA5DO but on the specification for this motherboard I can't find it. There is ADO4800IAA5DD. So is there any chance that my new processor can work with my motherboard? The only difference is the one letter at the end of the serial number. Best regards

Question: Need OS X support

I was given a new MacBook Pro from my wife.

I have been able to use Vista x64 by using Boot Camp. But I had to partition my Mac drive to do it. What I would like to do if possible, is to remove the partition for Vista and have an external Boot to Vista by using the bootable FireWire 800 external drive. This would free up some space on my hard drive. My problem is I'm able to designate Vista to the external FireWire drive but the Vista installer won't allow installation on the drive because it is Firewire 800. I was wondering if I could possible use a driver for the Firewire 800 controller so Vista can use it. And if this is possible is there anywhere on the net to acquire such a driver for the Vista installer.

I hope there is such a thing, I can't seem to find one.
