Question: GPU Support

I have an Alienware Aurora desktop from 2,010 that has an Alienware 4VWF2 motherboard in it. I also have 3 monitors connected to it, each with a maximum supported resolution of 2,560 pixels wide by 1,080 pixels high (no 4K here), although, I did see some similarly sized monitors to the ones that I have that are said to support the 4K resolution. (Although, since I only recently received my current monitors, it might be a while before I upgrade again. But, that might also depend on the answer to my question.) Alright, on to the question. What are the specifications of the motherboard mentioned above? I am specifically curious about its GPU support. Although, other information (e.g., CPU support) would be nice to know. I want to use a spanned desktop that utilizes the full resolution of all of my monitors. Currently, I have the desktop simply extended (not spanned through the Catalyst Control Center (or whatever Nvidia's equivalent is, as I have not dealt with Nvidia's software in a long time), as I prefer to have it) across the 3 displays. But, 2 of them are running at a resolution of only 1,920 pixels wide by 1,080 pixels high while the third runs at the full 2,560 pixels wide by 1,080 pixels high. Therefore, I am considering upgrading my GPU (also per suggestion [ https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-hardware/size-windows-to-fill-workspace/32752620-7a06-41a2-a8cb-009514d72058 ]). But, I do not know what GPU models are supported by the motherboard. I replaced the GPU fan once. But, only the fan was replaced, not the card itself. The current GPU installed is the AMD Radeon HD 5870 (the original card, but with a replaced fan, since the original fan had died).

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

 I bought TPS230U in may2013, and one monthe ago, the laptop just turned off by itself and wont turn on anymore. I had tried troubleshoop refresh and resetting options but it doesnt work.
My warranty certificate is still valid for itnernational support (now I live in  Brazil), so that, I called Brazilīs support (My laptop ID is: Type 3347 2GU S/N xxxxxxx 13/02.
At the first time I contacted by phone, the attendant asked me to (once again) turn off the laptop  and call back again. Well, I did it, adn (of course) it didnt work. So I called once again. The second the new clerk said I should buy a cd or dvd ( which could not be via USB stick ) , download from other computer and copy  an image file  that lenovo would understand the problem . I explained that I had not cd to record that moment. But he was very rude, and told me that it the  support goes to my house and concludes that there is a software problem and not hardwa, I was supposed to pay for the visit. So, I went to a store and bought a recordable CD , recorded the ISO file and got home to insert it into the laptop and....for my surprise,  my laptop doenst have any  entry for CD ! I feel that lenovo has been really disrespectfull with me and all I want is to have a simple support to my laptop, but I still couldnt have. Pleaase let me know how can I solve this problem before my waranty term expires!!!

The only supported card on this model is Intel 7260 2x2, 802.11 BGN .and the applicable BIOS version is 96CN29WW (V1.15)
 
Can you please explain more what is the issue with your Wifi

i currently have a dell Inspiron 5558 laptop for over an year now but the screen stop working over 6 months ago, i looked up the warranty information at the time of screen stopped working and was re-assured that it showed February 18, 2017 therefore i did not consider that it is very urgent to call tech support since i have other laptops. today when i call the support service, i was informed that product was not registered and i have to pay $233 to replace the LCD screen, they still argued that dell warranty website showed the correct information but when i looked it up, the website still displays the same.  did anyone else encounter this issue??

I have a T430s laptop and it is less than 6 months old. It starting getting blue screens within a month of purchasing it. Technical support has been helpless in trying to fix the laptop. First, tech support told me to turn update my computer daily. Then another tech support employee told me to turn OFF my auto updates. This did nothing and over a few weeks the blue screens progressively got worse. Next, tech support told me to run a diagnostic on my computer which turned up nothing. Then, they tried giving me recovery discs and a new hard drive. After that failed they took it in to replace the system board which made the blue screens worse. Then they sent me MORE recovery CDs to try to fix the problem and that also made the blue screens worse. I called tech support after this and they said they would send in a request for a replacement laptop. I was told I would hear from someone in a couple days. FIVE days later I got a called from someone asking if I wanted a replacement and I said yes. Then I was told I had to wait two more business days to get contacted about it. Another 3-4 business days later, someone called me to tell me that they would NOT be replacing the laptop despite the fact tech support could not fix the laptop. After calling tech support once again, I was told that they wanted me to send in my laptop again for up to 7 business days! This is completely unacceptable. We are Dell resellers and had placed an order for 43 Laptops - Dell Latitude 3560 with Dell on 13th June, 2016. We delivered them to our customer on Friday 17th June, 2016. On Monday 20th June we discovered that all the Laptops are faulty and are not functioning properly. They have not been able to use a single system due to touchpad issues in the entire lot
We have made innumerable calls Dell to resolve the problem, but the team is unable to identify and rectify the problem. 
We have spoken to our partner account manager, regional account manager, Service Specialist and Escalation Team, requesting them to provide us with a solution at the earliest as their work is getting hampered. Our customer has to deploy the same by 1st July however they do not have any Dell Laptops functioning correctly.  
How do we escalate this to the Dell management and get a replacement ASAP

Someone told me in another thread, and I also read here, that



All Wireless N routers support dual-band 802.11nClick to expand...

implying that any wireless N router can use the 5 GHz band as well as the 2.4 GHz band. Isn't that the implication?

Then why is it that when I browse routers, only some of them list both 2.4 and 5 GHz frequency, while others list only 2.4 in the specs? I want to switch my network over to 5 GHz in order to get away from all the interference I'm getting, as discussed in this thread.

So what's the real answer? Will any cheap "wireless N" router be able to do 5 GHz, (e.g. this one?) or do I need a more expensive dual band one?

No. The 802.11n standard supports 5GHz, but does not require it. Now if a device was 802.11ac, it will have a 5GHz radio since that standard only works on that freq.

Hello there, I'm interested in finding out more about the X220 - In particular the actual bandwidth available to the i7 Version of the X220 with it's USB 3 port. I'd like to be able to use the Black Magic Design Intensity Shuttle with this laptop, however it requires a Super Speed USB 3.0 Port. It's common for laptops to only use a single PCIe lane interconnect, giving the USB3 Port only 2.5gbps of available bandwidth. This won't be enough to allow that capture card to work  A similar situation also exists for the Expresscard slot - To be able to support Expresscard v2.0, It needs to provide 5gbps (2x PCIe v1 lanes). If it does this, It's possible I can buy an USB 3 Expresscard which will have enough bandwidth to use the card. In short I would like to know if the super speed USB 3 port can actually function at the intended speed, and is not crippled to half rate.

Started about a month ago - pops up over and over and over and over - about every five minutes or less.  I've got a Dell Studio XPS with Windows 7 Professional.  Another forum said to just uninstall Dell Support Center (Support Center Software) - but when I try to uninstall it - THE SAME STUPID WINDOW POPS UP ASKING ME TO INSERT THE SOFTWARE.  I tried doing a Browse and it's looking for DSC20.msi.  I haven't managed to find it yet.  I have at least found \Program Files(x86)\Dell Support Center but there's so many sub-directories...
I shouldn't have to be jumping through so many hoops just to uninstall a program.  This is driving me crazy and I haven't found an answer online yet.

I clean installed windows 7 on my Y650. Then camera is not working, microphone is not working (even if I use external microphone, it is not working). I tried using vista driver but not working. is there any way to make them work? really frustrated ...

When I installed Win8 on one computer I need a H.P. printer driver. So I went to H.P. support/download did not find the needed driver so I called their Tech. support. A friendly support guy looked at my system and told me my copy of Microsoft Win8 bought at Best Buy was not a legit copy, also my system had been infected and they needed to remove my Win8 clean my system and reinstall Win8. made me a deal of a reduced price of $250US I knew this was not right so I begged them good buy went to Best Buy where I have good friends in the Geek Squad. they got the needed driver and printer works fine.
Today my Netgear routher died, called Netgear to get my lifetime warranty. This also was a support in India guy said it would cost $39US to make sure it was the router I said thanks but no thanks. Took my old Netgear router back to Best Bye where I bought it three years ago and they gave me a new Netgear router. I needed setup help so called Netger as new user also in India guy was friendly looked at my system and helped me get it setup. Then he informed me my computer was under attack and my files were being read he could fix my system and protect my files for the small sum of just $85US. Well I was using a small backup H.P. computer on the Net. hardwired and it was almost never used. So I knew it was a India Tech. support scam again.

This is a General question regarding the end of support for XP. I realise at the end date the computer should be backed up in case you have to format the disc at any time after the end of the support period.

My question is does the built in Windows back up in XP when backing up the system include the installed updates? Or is it best to use third party software to do this.

I believe Windows just backs up your personal files and won't do the entire OS. You'll need a 3rd party program to do the entire HDD.

Also you really should think about upgrading to Windows 7. Staying on XP after the end support date is not recommended as you will lose security updates from Microsoft as well as patches.

So I am sitting here on my MacBook Pro which in my opinion does not have any wireless issues whatsoever, it works. I still own this ThinkPad with a garbage wireless card, and I feasted my eyes on an Intel 7260 but lo and behold, it isn't on the whitelist! Scouring eBay and Amazon I did find a FRU, but would the number of that FRU be the same on the Hardware list? Lets see, well I cannot even find it. All I get are Page Not Found errors which to me is a hilarious joke of Lenovo's support. What does this mean for me? Is my X230 at a very very unnecessary end of life? Should I like, fork out £1400 for an "upgraded" model that probably won't fix most of my problems? My problems is money and saving money. Should i now look elsewhere? No, because I'd rather keep my money to actually FIX my current laptop's problems (the N2200 is a garbage card and would like to replace it with something that's up to date to todays technology but that isn't happening by the sounds of it) I am frustrated with my current laptop's problems and it's having a large effect on my studies. And possibly you can also lose customers by inadequate non-existent support and failure to give us the freedom to actually let us upgrade for those who do. For those who don't, more like.

What is wrong with MS Tech Support, they say they dont support One Drive. I cannot connect to One Drive with any of my Windows phones, iPhone, or Android cell. I called tech support and they told me they are not trained to support One Drive for cell phones. I have spent lots of money on my equipment to be told they do not support it.

Some how my old friend managed to upgrade my PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 with that chipset driver CD I gave him. I don't know how he did it. I would ask him but he moved to Germany. Anyway I've heard you can run the setup with Windwos Vista compatiblity mode but I don't know if it is safe. Anyone know?
 

Answer:Motherboard support CD does not support your operating system

Download the drivers from the manufacturers website. The driver CD is likely outdated anyway.

I have a Thinkpad T450s and it is just over a year old. It still has 3 more years of warranty. Edit: Warranty type: TPJ (This product has a four year limited warranty which includes a warranty upgrade. This product is entitled to parts and labor and is entitled to Depot service).Recently the lenovo solution center gave an critical error for the HDD (Read test failure) and I submitted an online request reporting it. Without even sending me an email or contacting me, they sent me a new part and gave me zero information about it. Apparently every other person can replace a HDD now!  I have created 3 more cases calling their tech support to send the laptop for a depo repair. Everytime the request is rejected 'at the vendor' according to the customer care. Neither the customer care people or tech support can tell me why. Every time they create a new case, tell me I will receive a depo bag nect day, and I dont receive anything, have to call depo customer care and on hold for minimum 40 minutes, only to hear that the case has been rejected they dont know why.One tech support told me now I have to send the new part back before creating a new case, otherwise it will be rejected again. but he does not know how I can send the new part back. The return label sent to me was for the faulty HDD.Can anyone help? What is the point of paying for warranty if I receive this type of service?

hello to everyone!!

im working as a tech support agent for one of the biggest ISP in the US.. its a good paying job and also very challenging.. i use to troubleshoot internet connection issues for residential accounts (1 pc only) and for all other issues that i get, i browse for similar issues on the forums of this site.. well, most of them came pretty handy (esp for the security forums).. now, i got transferred to the networking department and im in a total loss!! i can do simple troubleshooting and install assists for new networking users but i really need help in issues like:
1. remote access/ port forwarding
2. invalid IP addresses on the wireless devices
3. file and printer sharing
i was browsing through all the topics but i cant find any.. if there is someone out there who can help me with this issue and give me some pointers on how i am going to do this in an easier way.. i would really appreciate any assistance..

Hey guys I have acer laptop. I got some issue with USB ports so acer service center engg came to my house and after opening the screw he said hings are broken. That's it and fix the USB ports issue and went. After 2days my laptop's back body start breaking and when I call acer support they said we are not allowed to register on hardware issue. It took a month to register one compliant . And they never bother about that. They are like it's hardware issue you have to pay.. My laptop is in warranty period and It not my mistake boz I never had issue of hing n ol. Now it's almost 3 month over still they are like we will update you in 2 days.Worst services ever I seen is acer.

I think the revamped Support Assistant is brilliant - especially for drivers where it checks your PC, rather than give you a list of driver updates for your model, as the old website-based Driver Update checker did. It has an "Add a device" facility but it doesn't find my HP DCP_J315W printer, connected via wireless. Does Support Assistant support printers? edited 08:07: typo

Dell Support "Assist" just ran without giving me an option to stop, pause, or control in anyway.  It was using nearly all computer resources (I could barely save the word document I had open at the time).  This isn't "assist" more like computer take over.

How can I control the S. "Assist"?  How can I adjust the time between it's runs (currently it looks like monthly)?  After finishing it's scan or whatever it finally closed (cuz it wouldn't close the 20 times or so I clicked the "X").  I then opened it, looking for some results of the scan, and found none.  How can I view results?

Right now, seems like worthless bloatware.

Also, there is not a [New Post] button on the Laptop Forum (at least for me).

I purchased the Lenovo brand because it offered many more features then the competitors within the price range we needed.  My son needed it for school so of course we went with the i7 processor because we were told it was the best and wanted to ensure we didn't have an outdated computer within the next few years when our other children would begin to use it.
 
Our computer is not charging and I have contacted every department I could think of and was referred to some others along the way.  I am very stressed and upset on how my problem/question is being handled.  I was hoping to get everything resolved before school starts again on Jan 3rd so my son doesn't fall behind. 
 
The history of my purchase:
 
I purchased my lenovo ideapad y560 in 2010.  Upon arrival it did not work and I had to send it back for a replacement (this order# 2FL8RF  S/N ******** was ordered 9/13/2011 shipped 9/17/2011 a return authorization generated 9/23/2011 and you received the unit back on 10/23-10/24/2011).
 
 My new one came and the start date of warranty was 10/6/2010.  A few months in I called in again for the blue system screen and was told I had to restore my computer with the restore button which I did even though I lost all of my work and applications.

So Im trying to get Win7 RC1 x64 to work on my laptop with a Radeon x700 in it and can't seem to find any working drivers or "trick" the system into using drivers. Thus I am stuck with the "default graphic card" (or whatevers its called) crap. Everything else works great on the laptop except that.

So has anyone found workarounds to this yet?

Have you tried downloading windows updates yet? You should get vidio drivers from there.

Yoga 2 Pro laptop with accidental damage protection and a cracked LCD. I have been trying for days to get hold of someone at lenovo.  Online chat stays open for around 45 minutes, gradually counts down as my place in the queue  gets to the front, and then abruptly ends with the message that no one is available. Not sure who have false information about RAM support for this laptop.By default, it uses 1600MHz CL11 DDR3L RAM (4-8Gb, different brands for variants)I asked from Kingston via email about this, and they answered laptop will support only DDRL3 1600MHz, but then again I went and check Crucial and it show DDR3L 1866MHz is supported!I wanted use HyperX Impact 1866MHz DDR3L 8Gb RAM, but Kingston told that only basic model with 1600MHz is supported.Only differences with basic model (1600MHz) vs HyperX Impact (1866MHz) is different speed, rest is same both even CL11.N4200 processor support DDR3L max at 1866, so it is supported! Memory band 19K max, and Kingston 1866 uses 14K, so should be supported.Maybe someone here have tried 1866 RAM? Any experiences with HyperX Impact or Crucial?

Hi, I have an issue, I am using window xp service pack 2, I ma tring to connect my nokia handset its nokia 2730c. while connecting the pc suite with my pc to hand set its giving the error masage "windows could not load the installer for WPD. contact your hardware vender." Ihave checked with reinstall the os as well try to reinstall pc suite also but issue is still being pursyst.

Uninstall the PC Suite you have, unplug the USB cable from the computer end, and restart the computer. Then download the most recent version of PC Suite from Nokia page Also run the Nokia Software updater to make sure your phone is updated.

Alright so my current system is a

Intel Pentium Dual Core E5400 2.7GHz
Geforce 9500 GT
1 Sata
1 DVD
2 Sticks of DDR2 667MHz
I would like to Upgrade to a AMD Phenom X4 9850, with a 450W PSU, (Motherboards are practicably identical).

I already check the extreme PSU calculator but it said only about 275W which makes me a little bit skeptical. So what wold you say?

Answer:Can my PSU support it?

Under load, the Phenom uses 311 watts - 185 watts at idle. Add that to the 9500GT, and you may be over the limit.
But why do you want to "downgrade" from a 2.7GHz CPU to a 2.5GHz CPU. Don't expect too much from the 4 cores because most programs will not be using them. I am very disappointed with my quad processor. My slightly faster duo core is better.

PS: The wattage was measured by a German computer mag

My mic does not work on my Dell XP pc. I have gone through a number of tests. I checked to see if it is muted , it is not. The volume control is at maximum, I have done a hardware test and it said it could not detect my voice. I am at an end of what I can do. Is it possible that this Dell doesn't support a mic? Is there anything else I can do to install or test the mic? Is there some kind of driver that may need to be installed?

Hi, My computer is now 4 years old. I am having some problems with its speed and freezing. I am worried it might have a virus. Even if it doesn't I would like to take it somewhere to get help cleaning it out and making it run more effiecently. I have renewed my warranty so I am covered. Just go to Rescue and Recovery by pressing Access IBM on startup and select restore to factory conditions, it should wipe your harddrive and reinstall your OS. Make sure you make a backup of softwares.

I want to by a friend a set of 5.1 speakers for his birthday. However, I am not sure his computer supports it. His sound card is on-board, and he can't find its spefication. How can I find out if his system supports 5.1? He has 6 plugs of different colors where the sound card should be, does that surely mean he has it?

Hi all

I was wondering if there is a list of CPUs supported by Win 10? I am currently running two desktops one with a Dual Core Pentium @ 2ghz and a Core Duo E8400 @ 3 Ghz. They both run Win 8.1 fine but was wondering if 10 will support them. I know min requirements are 1 Ghz CPU but there has also been mention of some CPUs not being supported.

I have a Dell Inspiron 3558 1TB HDD 
Lately maybe due 80 % usage of HDD, my laptop is
my laptop is soooooooo slow that it takes almost 2 minutes to boot
I am thinking of extending my storage by adding an SSD

You cannot add an SSD or an SSHD hybrid - you must replace the hard drive.  If you wish to retain the existing drive, you'll need to mount it in a USB external case -- and use it externally.
While a hybrid drive may be somewhat faster than a conventional hard drive, it won't come anywhere near the performance of a native solid state drive.

Hi all,
I just got a new USB card reader and a replacement and both are very temperamental in when they decide to work or see cards put into it, often giving I/O errors.
I use XP SP1 and basically i need to know if Windows XP SP2 has better support for card readers that would fix this like the sellers tell me. The thing is i dont want to install SP2 for various reasons.
Ive got the latest USB drivers for the motherboard (SiS 748 chipset) and as far as i can see everything looks good system wise.

I find USB does work better in SP2, with no service packs at all, It was giving me errors with my USB. Stuff like (You are plugging in a USB 2.0 device in a USB 1.1 Port) and stuff like that.

She has not been "ripped off" but has possibly bought an expensive service, assuming they do actually provide the service. Sales tactics and business ethic are a completely different subject.
 
Personally, I am totally in support of start-up companies like this. Imagine if these people had turned their attentions to creating malware, and then your family encountered them. It could be a lot worse.

A'ight..I have a 3 year old computer (*cough* Dell *cough)...

if anyone knows anything about dells, it's the fact that they do anything in their power to make it so you can not upgrade their stuff...biggest pain in the butt: PSU. They have a special adapter into the mobo and put the power wires on the wrong side.

Alright...that being said...after 3 years, it's still a decent system (P4 2ghz, 512mb ram), but with a bottleneck of a graphics card (64mb GF3).

Now...I can get a 128mb 9800 pro for pretty cheap, and was going to jump the offer, but my 250w PSU is making me rather wary.

I've heard people running a 9600xt fine on the power supply...

so, should I go for it? I want to make this computer last for another year, and do a full upgrade when I go off to college next fall.

I have posted a couple of threads concerning my pc freezing/hanging and I have had some great support from Gongoozler ? thank you again.I have been continuing to contact HP support (by email) attempting to resolve the situation. My computer (bought in January) is so unstable that I have now set up my old one. Each time I contact HP support I go round and round in circles as they provide trouble shooting steps that they are convinced help me. As much as I tell them it does not make any difference. In fact a few have made the situation worse (e.g. when they instructed me to delete windows components and I started loosing drives and programs).I contacted HP again over the last couple of days and in the same email it said they had both resolved the issue and had not ? I feel that they have no idea. From reading this forum and speaking to a few people I have narrowed it down to the memory/RAM (as kindly suggested by Gongoozler and later hinted at by HP themselves) motherboard, CPU or a cooling fault. I posted on their support website ? I was very polite and I described the symptoms and said I was receiving technical support but have yet to resolve it and did anyone know what would be causing it. Well around I go again. I have just got off a crackly line to from HP Support based somewhere on the moon I think. I explained the problem and asked to have my warranty verified as per the email. I was asked for an explanation of the problem and I also added that PCW have the computer for testing as they thought it was a hardware issue. I also said the previous trouble shooting steps over the last few months did not resolve the issue. I am told I need to be seated on front of the unit to go through some trouble shooting steps ? and to call back when I have the computer! How am I supposed to resolve a hardware issue? In fact, in one of the HP support emails I was asked to reseat the RAM (which is impossible as it is tucked under the HDD) and also to replace the RAM ? with what ? bananas???? Is this the type of thing I should be doing under a manufacturers warranty ? I have never been asked to open up a unit before ? I feel I am really missing something here.I like HP printers but I won?t be buying HP desktops again. I had a Sony Vaio and the support I received was impeccable. When a hardware fault was detected the unit was shipped for repair.

Question: No USB support

OK, I have a user that has deleted every device under USB as a fix to his thumb drives not being recognized. Normally the drivers would reinstall themselves with the next reboot, but he also has installed CA Security Suite and some apps from Advanced System Care (registry cleaner) and god knows what else. I believe that one of these apps are keeping the OS from installing device drivers. I cannot uninstall the apps in Safe or Normal mode with no keyboard or mouse support. System restore points also make no difference. I have also looked at using wmic to uninstall from the command line, but apparently it does not work in W7 Home premium. Any other things to try would be appreciated. Maybe a DOS based registry edit to clear out the startup processes.

I just got a nice little ThinkPad R31 and I keep getting the message the usb device can run faster but there is no high speed hub or device. I know with other systems I needed to update something - in order to enable the faster speed USB operations - but I've scanned all the drivers and tried them to no avail. Can this laptop update to high speed usb transfers usb 2?Thanks in advance!jerryyeswedeliver

Welcome to the forum!Hardware on the R31 only supports USB 1.1if you need USB 2.0 you can get a PCMCIA USB 2.0 card.Good luck.

Question: CPU support

Hello. I have this motherboard BIostar gf7025 n630 and I just bought AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ with the number ADO4800IAA5DO but on the specification for this motherboard I can't find it. There is ADO4800IAA5DD. So is there any chance that my new processor can work with my motherboard? The only difference is the one letter at the end of the serial number. Best regards

I can't see any major differences between the specs of the two CPUs so I believe it should work. I am not an expert on CPUs in general though.

Question: help and support

I have an HP Win 7 w/32 bits, when I bought the computer , if I had a problem, I would go to the built-in help and support app to try and figure out the problem. Now for some strange reason, when I click on it, it says "can not open", any suggestions?? And by the way, Windows help and support forums and tech help, didn't.

In March, I bought a $1300 XPS 15, because the reviews were generally good, and good specs with a killer video card.
It came via delivery, I took it out, looked amazing, charged it for a few hours, turned it on and........BIOS ERROR. Right out of the box, there was an Error. It stated 'Invalid Time\Date Configuration'.
Oh. I worried, but then thought, all I need to do is set the BIOS time\date. No big deal.But it wouldn't allow me to SAVE CHANGES.
Whatever. Maybe and 'Update' will fix it.
DISCARD CHANGES, and REBOOT.
It begins to reboot, then powers down completly.
Ok....
I press the Power Button, and it begins to boot (keyboard lights-up), then a CLICK of the HD, and it powers down.
Uh.....no.
This happens 2 more times, then it finall boots into : BIOS ERROR. INVALID TIME\DATE.
I go through this again, and it FINALLY BOOTS!
It's fast, I set all my preferences, especially Power Management (SLEEP when lid is closed), as I like my computers to be ready whenever.
After using it for a bit, I close the lid.
I come back to it a few hours later, pop the lid, and the power button and keyboard are lit, but nothing on the screen.
Son of a....
I hold the power button to do a Hard Reboot. Which it does.......
And boots into a BIOS ERROR screen.
Wash, Rinse, Repeat.

With a lack of knowing a better place to start this, I figured this was as good as any

At any rate, does anyone currently work for Support.com or has anyone worked for them in the past?

The reason that I ask, is I have an opportunity to go to work for them and work totally from my home and my own computer. They offer pretty much a full benefits package, shift differential pay, and overtime pay.

I am just not sure how well they are to work for so figured I would ask the awesome members here on [H]!!!

When I go to the start menu and prompt "Help and Support" nothing happens. I really don't know when this started because I really haven't had a need for this until recently, when I was having some issues with another computer I was working on at the time and needed to access Help and Support. Does any body out there have any ideas with what's going on and is there a way to find out if they can be found or will I have to maybe reload something from my XP disk?

As a new user of this group can anyone advise me how to recover the Help and Support in Windows XP. If I click on Help and Support in START all I get is a momentry flicker of the egg timer, then nothing. If I look for the Help and Support programme HelpCtr.Exe its there in RegEdit! Something must have disturbed the start process. Any advise would be most welcome.

Hmmm, this is strange. Have you deleted anything lately ?? Maybe in the registry ??

Run "system restore" and try going back to an earlier restore point. Just pick a date when you knew it was working.

Officially, no. So you can't rely on me to justify buying 32 gigs. But it is DDR4-2133 and other HP laptops with Skylake processors and DDR4 can take 16 gig modules per slot.

HI this may be a rookie Q.
I have HP W2072a monitor which I took just as a temp monitor.
I need a new monitor for:
1) watching Video lectures all day for now n movies n game of thrones etc
2) I am also A die hard gamer so for HD MAX resolution gaming in the near future.
SO mostly home purpose,

Q) with this can I buy a new LED TV (22-32 INCH) as there is HDMI support with the mobo

What 16bit apps are you trying to run anyways? Games? Emulators work. Also flash games work aswell :P.

I do pc support as a side job as-well, sorry if this is not the place to post it. But recently i got a job for someone sending me 10 computers at once. I dont know what i could get in trouble for or sued, but what is good for them to sign as a disclaimer, what should i write as one, i need to start doing this....? have any of you had this issue or needed to do something like this?

Are they sending you the computers via mail, or is it going to be dropped off by your client?

I would write a disclaimer along the lines of what work exactly, is going to be done to the systems.

For example:
For each of the systems delivered to x, the following work will be completed, and verified by y
1. Clean format, deletion of all previous data
2. Case internals dusted out with compressed air
3. Fresh copy of Windows X installed with license sticker on each system
4. x Software installed
5. y Software installed
6. System burn-in test for 24 hours

etc...

Hope that helps or gets you started in the right direction

edit: it might also help if you had a sheet with a checklist for each system to help keep yourself organized and to verify that each system has been completed. It's also very professional I think.

I just purchased an ACER with windows 7. It's a 64 bit machine and I need to connect it to my Minolta QMS magicolor 2200 Desklaser. My 2200 works fine with my Toshiba laptop which is running XP. I have contacted Minolta and there is no 64 bit driver planned.

Does anyone know of a 32 bit emulator that I can run under Windows 7 that will let me continue to use this wonderful printer?

There isn't any sort of emulator. You are prettymuch stuck; I've had to do a lot of research on that issue and that's just the way MS made Vista/7 x64 work. It will be nice in 10 years when most everything is 64-bit, but sure isn't now.

Have you been able to make it work by just connecting it to your Acer without trying to install drivers from the manufacturer's disk?

If you connect it to your Toshiba and set it up as a shared printer I may have a tip that will work for you. If that is something you wish to try let me know.

Anyone out there know if the ECS 848P-A (1.0) is compatible with the celeron D 3.06GHz cpus?

I'd imagine its compatible, the intel websites say it supports 848P chipset, I just wanted to see if anyone else has this combo, lemme know!

i wish for looking an answer,

is my motherboard ASUS P4S333-VM could support both DDRRAM PC2100 256MB and DDRRAM PC2700 512MB ? i afraid it would be not stable while running certain program.

i tried to search for the info, somehow it didn't provide useful info for me. the user manual didn't describe whether could support other type of the DDR RAM, and only shown DDRRAM PC2100 that support the mothorboard.

any comments ?

putting your XP CD in the tray, then going Start > Run then type in ( or copy and paste this ) sfc /scannow , note the space between sfc and /. This will repair / replace any corrupt or damaged files.

Question: W98 WME Support

I see W98 WME support is ending 11/7/06 i can understand W98 as it's 8 years old but WME is only 6 years old, nothing said about W2000 that to is 6 years old and WXP thats 5 years old,if that is the case then W2000 and WXP must be going to share the same fate within 2 years i hope this isn't a microsoft ploy to force people to use Vista i don't think older computers will cope to well with this OS.

Hi phil46 wouldnt have thought it was a ploy by Bill and co still an awful lot of people favour W98 I still have one works just fine and I have an W95 that again is ok for its specs I also have 1 Wxp pro and 2 Wxp home all are ok well not bad, but I see where you are coming from my 95 and 98 are not on my home network so updates are not an issue, but it is sad that peeos with perfectly working W98 will no longer have any support but it was on the cards.
