I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have purchased one lumia 535 recently and desperately trying to use the wifi connection to connect to internet. My phone connects to my bsnl modem typeII very easily. But after that how can I connect to my broadband connection by providing my user id and password? Please help.

Answer:Lumia 535 connects to my bsnl modem through wifi. Now how to connect to broadband from it?

Your phone does not need your broadband username and password, they are only used by your modem to connect to your isp as without these it won't be able to authenticate. Meaning simply it woudn't be able to connect to the internet at all.
From your post it sounds like your phone already connects via WiFi.
So therefore you don't need to anything else just open you internet explorer and surf or use the search button. Alternatively you can download the many browsers from the store such as UC Browser, Opera Mini (Beta) etc (I am presuming you have already signed into your Microsoft Account?).

I use to have a d-link router. It burnt up so I bought a Netgear. It was simple to install. All my computer, IPad etc connected to the internet, but my lap top that has vista will not. It found the wifi and conneced to it, but when I go to log on the internet it tell me that there is NO network and will not connect. So how do I get it to connect.

Answer:WiFi not connecting to internet

If it says that it's connected, then it probably already is. There may be something wrong with your laptop. Have you tried connecting your vista laptop to the router using a cable? Have you tried pinging websites?

I am using a D-link DSL-G604T wireless ADSL2+ modem/router for my internet connection, and just a cheap network adapter i bought from ebay. I have installed the network adapter and it is detecting a connection with the router, the only problem i have is that i cant figure out how to connect to the internet.
Before i got the network adapter and the router/modem, i was using a D-link DSL-502T to connect to the internet which worked fine.
My question is; how do i connect to the net threw my wireless router/modem?

Also, one other question, when i try connectiong threw ethernet my comp locks up and i have to switch it of at the switch, this happens every time i plug the ethernet lead in, anyone know why?

Answer:Connecting to the internet threw wifi

Most modem/router combos work out of the box. I would recommend resetting the device (check with the manual to see how/google) and starting over. It if is locking up your computer it could be a number of things; probably an issue with your computer. Also, can you get it to work with any other computers?

I use Windows XP on both my desktop and my laptop. I recently installed a DSL broadband internet connection on my desktop and have connected my desktop to the DSL modem via a Linksys Wireless Router. The internet on the desktop works perfectly.

I am having trouble accessing the internet after my laptop logs into the wireless network that I have set up (it shows the signal strength as excellent).

I am able to ping the router but not the internet. I wonder if there are any settings in Windows that I need to switch on to be able to access the internet. I will be grateful for any help on this matter.

Thank you!

I recently bought a new laptop with built-in WiFi. This laptop is used about 99% of the time at a remote location so the only available internet connection (without going to satellite) is through dial-up. Is there some kind of WiFi product I can connect to the standard phone line, then use the laptop's built-in WiFi to connect to the internet. I realize I would be limited to the extremely slow dial-up connection but at least I wouldn't have to connect the phone wire to the laptop. Thanks for any suggestions.

PLEASE HELP! I'm at my wits end with all this...

I have an HP Pavillion dv6 w/ith Windows 7. My internet was working this morning, my laptop died, recharged it and turned it back on, and internet was not working anymore. WiFi and connection through Ethernet was not working. It's not my router/modem since I can connect to the internet (WiFi and Ethernet) with my phone and another laptop. I did a power cycle anyways, but nothing. I also tried connecting to another WiFi that is within my range and same result (I can usually connect to it as my back up and can with other devices as well). I am getting a "Limited access" with everything I do.

I ran troubleshooter and it said that that "There might be a problem with the driver for the Wireless Network Connection adapter." My network adapters are Ralink RT5390 802.11b/g WiFi adapter and Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller for Local Area Connection. Neither of them have a yellow triangle with a "!". I even updated these drivers with the latest versions from the manufacturer websites. Nothing. Restarted my computer. Nothing. Enabled/disabled the connection. Nothing. I then uninstalled each driver, restarted my computer, let them re-install, and still nothing.

In Wireless Network Connection Properties, "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" and "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" are both checked and they both are set to "Obtain an IP address automatically"... Read more

I run with Windows XP Home SP2.This is on a loptop with a wireless card and connect to the internet via a 3Com Wireless Router. The router?s security is MAC address filtering and WPA-PSK encryption. Its WPA mode is WPAWPA2 Mixed Mode. The encryption technique is AUTO for WPA,AES for WPA2.I have a separate desktop computer and have just purchased a ZyDAS usb wifi dongle. I have loaded the software drivers which came with the dongle. When I put the dongle into a USB port and click on the ZyDAS utility, the dongle is seeing my router and next doors.I have established the MAC address of the desktop computer. I know the SSID of the laptop??router. I have my pre-shared key encryption code. But where do I go from here to enable the desktop to connect to the internet and thereafter talk to the laptop. I appreciate that this is probably two steps. (1) talk to the router and (2) a local area network to get the two computers to talk to each other.Your advice on the way forward would be appreciated. If you need any further information please just ask.Barmoor

Answer:Connecting second computer to internet via wifi

First you need to put the SSID and Key into the Wireless Computer Software, You should have loaded Software for the Dongle. That loads a icon in the system tray near clock. Double click on it to bring up the program and enter the above. When you have got it to connect come back for the other help you asked for

Hi, I got an x1 Carbon for my new school. I looked up this issue on a family computer and I saw other Lenovos with the same issue, but theirs seemed to work after disabling the IPv6 and that doesn't fix anything for me. The driver that it says I am using is "Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6205" if the driver is outdated please help me update it without being able to download a driver on that specific computer.Thanks,-Drew

Hey guys, need your help. I own a Compaq Presario CQ62-230E1. Am using windows 7 4bit .Last September the motherboard crashed and I had to take it to be replaced. When it was repaired, I took went and collected it. At first I noticed that when I connected the Ethernet cable to the laptop there was no internet connection. Whenever I ran diagnostics it told me same issue, local are network doesn?t have a valid ip configuration. I tried connecting via wifi and it was working properly the only problem was that the modem had to be close to the laptop, like literally a few centimeters away. Recently as of one week ago it totally stopped picking up wifi from the ISP modem no matter how close it is returning the error wireless access; problem with adapter. The irony is when I try to connect the laptop to the internet via my phone whether it is tethering or hotspot it connects to the internet. My friend who is a computer expert thought it was a software issue but we downloaded and installed all the necessary drivers. We even went as far as to format local disk C just to be sure and ensure all the junk is chucked. He guesses that the problem is hardware suggesting that when they replaced the motherboard they must have interfered with the wifi /Ethernet boad. Any help will be highly appreciated. Alvaro

Answer:My compaq Presario is not connecting to the internet via wifi or LAN

Hello Alvaro . welcome to the Forums, I am of mind to agree with your friend. They have from what it appears installed a faulty card or damaged it in the process of repairing the motherboard.

Hi,
I have a Dell XPS 13" for the last year and a half.
I changed the password for my router after which my Dell XPS is not able to connect to the internet. The laptop does connect to the router (status states - Secured, Connected) however it does not connect to the internet.
I can connect to the internet via the same router on multiple devices (ipad, iphone, android phone, macs and another Lenovo Windows machine)
I am bamboozled as to why this Dell XPS is not able to connect.
Checking the properties of the device (via the Device Manager) says the Device is working properly. The network adapter is a Dell Wireless 1820A.802.11ac.
I tried to uninstall and re-install the driver and still don't see a difference.
Appreciate any assistance.
The Dell website (for Drivers and downloads is also friendly). I can't easily check what the latest driver is.
Searching for wireless for my Dell XPS
returns only one result  and the installation of that is not successful either.

Answer:Wifi connecting to my router however it does not connect to the internet

When you stated you changed the password on the Router, I thought you meant the one for the Admin of the Router.  I suppose you mean the WPA2 security password for the network..
I assume you have looked at the available networks and picked the one you use and check it properties for Public/Private and security settings?
If the wireless icon is showing a yellow triangle it may be related to DNS.  You might check the IP Settings on the above reference page to make sure you have correct IP addresses listed.

Hi. I'm using a Gateway NV54 laptop and the wifi isn't connecting to the home network or internet. The wifi worked before the install, but not after. I have another laptop and the wifi works fine for it.

Recently did a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, 64-bit. Installed all drivers. Current wireless driver is Intel Wireless LAN Driver (since the laptop uses Intel Pentium processor).

When I click my home network in the list of connections it asks for the security key. I put in the key and immediately it says "windows was unable to connect to this network." Tried this multiple times. I can connect with ethernet but not wireless.

Tried pressing Xfinity router wireless button to pick up the laptop but it didn't work. Tried logging into Xfinity router from the other computer and manually put the laptop's computer name and mac address into router, restarted router, still can't connect.

Any ideas? Thanks.

I've run a few windows diagnostics to see if the problem could be resolved, some that came up were

hello,

i am having a problem with a new netgear AC1200 WIFI router Model R6120 and was hoping to get some help. I had a Linksys cicso WRT110 router that went bad last week. I went to Wal-Mart and bought the netgear AC1200. I hooked it up to a dell e6400 latitude running windows 7 pro and I cannot get it to connect to the internet using a DSL modem.

I can see the router when you click on the icon in the lower right corner that displays the wireless connections. I opened the network and sharing center and selected the "set up a new connection or network" and set up a home connection. I am not sure if I did this correctly.
when you open a IE browser to connect to the internet, the netgear routerlogin screen displays. it states that I did not have a connection to the internet and the netgear genie asked if it should create the connection. I responded yes and the genie started doing the work and then displayed something about a PPPoE connection and asked for my signon and password. I did not remember so I called the DSL provider and they gave it to me. I enter these credentials and the genie responded that the credentials were invalid. I contacted the netgear support and that guy was not much help. he tried some things and when it came to entering the username and password for the PPPoE connection and we received the invalid message, he said that it might be a bad router an that I should take it back and get a new one.

my question is - is there something that I am ... Read more

I wanted to share my ethernet internet connection over wifi so I have created a wifi hotspot on my laptop using "NETSH" commands in cmd prompt.
I have enabled sharing of ethernet connection by going to ethernet properties>>sharing>>check box (Allow other network users to connect through this computer) but the internet is not being shared.
I have configured other devices with static IPs. Gateway and subnet mask is also correct. I am also using different IPs of the same subnet.
Everything was working fine until perhaps I tried installing Connectify software, I uninstalled it later.
Kindly help to troubleshoot the issue.

Hello, after installing a slightly newer update for my wireless driver it stopped connecting to my wireless network. I tried rolling back to the older verison, still refused to connect. I reinstalled the older version, but it still continues to not connect. I tried deleting the network profile and making a new one,but it still won't connect. Hi, I have a Dell Latitude D620 with a Dell Wireless WLAN. I connect to my wireless connection at home fine, but any time I take my computer to a wifi hotpsot, it cannot connect. I SEE that there is a network there, I click "connect" to that network, and my computer doesn't do anything. My Wireless is set to obtain IP addresses automatically, so that is not the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I might try to fix this??

Thanks!

I experience the following problem with a new one week old Lenovo X220 built with Intel Advanced-N 6205: After 3-5 hours it disconnects from a wifi router and would not be able to connect to it until I reboot the router. It happened the first time on Friday, I was connected to our Verizon FIOS router and after 5 hours I lost connection and won't be able to connect for 2 hours trying every possible thing until I rebooted  the router, what I didn't have to do with countless number of other laptops/cell phones. Now X220 loses wifi connection every 3 hours and won't be able to connect until the router is restarted. All other devices in a house work perfectly fine, my roommates probably already hate me for rebooting the router. Router: Actiontec M1424WR (Verizon FIOS) Other devices which were and still are able maintain connections with this router for many hours w/o similar problem:- my old Dell Latitude E6400- my Samsung Captivate cell phoneand bunch of other HP laptops, macbooks etc. What I tried and what did not help:- rebooting X220- turning X20 off/on- installing the latest drivers for Intel 6205 card for the Intel website- installing/uninstalling Intel Wifi tools and Access Connections- restoring from a backup (not a complete factory setting restore)- setting DNS/IPs manually for IPv4 and turning off IPv6 I tried to collect some logging with netsh tracing and it only tells that the driver disconnects during acquisition. Some clue I dis... Answer:Wifi issue with X220 (intel wifi card); It stops connecting to a router after 3 hours

When it is reproducible in Win 7, went to Ubuntu Live CD and everything works there. So the problem is either inside:- router- Win 7 Intel 6205 drivers including shipped and the latest one  I don't think it is that low level though as I thought, as in Win 7 it tries to reconnect each time disconnecting during "Identifying Network" stage, and setting IP, gateway and DNS manually do not help.  UPDATE: I was able to update Verizon FIOS router to the latest firmware and switched it from WEP to WPA just in case.

Hello! My Windows 10 installation can't auto-connect to wifi after turning on, If it does, it says "No Internet" every time. Is there a way to fix this?

(My WiFi Dongle: KOOTEK WIFI DONGLE)

Answer:"No Internet" When auto-connecting to WiFi Windows 10

Hi,
1. Is your Wifi enabled?
See the Action Centre, (e.g. windows key + a).
Make sure the Airplane Mode tile is dull (off) and the Wifi tile is on (bright) and says 'available'.

2. Can any other device connect to the same router?

3. Note Wifi Sense can cause people problems:
4. Have you tried the troubleshooter? Rt click tray icon, troubleshoot.

5. Please post a screenshot like this:

(Note: I've recently done an in-place upgrade repair install, and this loses the Wifi key, so needs setting up again- which is why it's shown disconnected)

Hello,
I have an Asus Netbook 1005P, running Windows 7, SP1, with Internet Explorer
11.
I am usually though not always, experiencing the following issue:
When I attempt to connect to Wifi at a caf, the "Wireless Network
Connection" for the caf's network shows "Connected", yet there is no
Internet access. Placing the pointer over the Connection icon in the
Notification Area displays:
"Unidentified Network No Internet Access".
(The network in question always has its SSID shown in the Wireless Network
Connection list.)
This issue occurs whether I am running only the Windows firewall, or alternatively
try only running the firewall that I prefer which is Comodo.
For antivirus I have Avast Free (with its "web shield"
not installed) and so far as this issue is concerned it makes no difference if I
disable Avast.
When this issue occurs, there are often other customers in the
caf connected to the caf wifi and also using the Internet.
I have to ask the caf to:
reset,
or turn off and then turn back on,
or remove the power plug,
for their router,
yet other customers do not have to do this to get Internet connection!
This is the issue at whatever caf, to whose Wifi I attempt to connect.
My computer has an up-to-date network adapter update!

Please help with a solution to this issue.
Regards,

How can I configure my existing wifi modem to connect my android phone by wireless connectivity?

Answer:Wireless Connection of mobile with BSNL modem

You configure the phone to connect to the wifi network (assuming you are trying to use your wifi network for your phone). It should then remember the configuration and can/will connect whenever it is within range.

I am using EVDO (bsnl wireless connection)  and my Operating system is windows Xp with service pack 2,the problem i am facing is my internet connection breaks every 10minutes.but the device is working properly in another systems with out any problem for hours

Answer:EVDO (bsnl wirless connection) break ups frequently in xp

Hi,For your question, I'll assume you are using the EVDO USB modem.Open the software provided with the modem. The one which has a red coloured icon in the notification area - if you are connected.Double click on that icon. Or you can always open it from Start>All Programmes.Go to Settings>Options>Standby/Hibernate.Click the radio button "Prevent Standby/Hibernate". By default, standby/hibernate is enabled.I guess it solves your problem. If not, contact customer care.If your downloads break in between, I'd suggest you use a download manager. Also, don't use Internet Explorer. Its very slow & the least secure Internet Browser.I'd recommend you use Google Chrome, its the fastest (can only be installed live, connected), or Mozilla Firefox, or Opera.Use Internet Explorer only for those websites which are not compatible & won't open properly with the above mentioned browsers.

Hi Friends!
Please help.
I am having this strange problem since 15 days now.
Let me explain you in detail,

I have XP PC. It was working fine. Then I had some viruses etc so I formatted it and installed the XP back again.

Now, when I connect to the internet the PC hangs/stops responding at all.
(not until i connect the LAN cable, but when I click the connection logo to start connection, it hangs)

The strange thing is, if i dont start internet connection the PC works fine.
If i connect to internet using same router and cable in my laptop it also works fine.
But when i connect the router to my Old PC it hangs.

I have the router changed by the service provider,
I formatted the PC twice and installed new drivers.
I tried to update all the drivers.
Nothing helps.

When I uninstall and reinstall the LAN driver it sometimes connects for 20-30 minutes but then again starts hanging. then it hangs just on connection start.

Please help me. I am very confused. I showed it to some local computer service center, they tried the same thing - formatting and reinstalling XP from their CD but didnt work.

Anybody has any idea what this problem is?

Thank You.

Hi,

I have an issue relating CONFIGURATION FOR MULTI USERS THROUGH ADSL
MODEM (UT300R2) of UTSTARCOM for connecting BSNL Broadband.

While configuring for Single User successfully ,all sites connect
comfortably, but, when I do successful configuration for Multiuser,a
few sites like -- any of the Yahoo or Yahoomail sites and
niftysignals.com --- fail to get connected, and ,showing error as
"Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): The connection was reset".

I had taken up this issue with Yahoo, who told this is a problem to
be resolved by the service provider. The service provider being BSNL,
when I took up with them, they have also been unable to resolve this.

But, surprisingly, this was not such, about 2 years ago, when all
the yahoo sites were opening easily , under Multi Users
Configuration too.

My PC is pentium IV ,with 1GB Memory, and Windows XP with service
pack2 installed. The browsers used are IE6 and Google Chrome.I have
also tried by removing Fire Wall and AVG Antivirus software ,but to
no positive result.

Kindly, help me resolving this issue and if any suggestion, please

Answer:WiFi not connecting

One other thing you can try is removing the wireless adapter in Windows device manager and then rebooting. Windows will find the adapter and reinstall it after the reboot. This has fixed similar issues for me before. Good luck!

Every time I press connect to Internet it asks about modems. I've googled how to connect it and I can't seem to figure it out. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Answer:Help connecting to wifi

Hey Ryan. Is this a laptop or desktop. If it's a desktop, it likely doesn't have a wireless adapter that will allow connection to you wireless network. If it's a laptop, right click on My Computer,Properties, select Device Manager tab, then look for Network Adapters and click once on the + and see if you see any wireless adapter listed and if it is enabled. You can enable/disable a wireless adapter by right clicking and toggling between enable/disable. In either case, it probably needs quite a bit of work to get it up to date, and assuming everything else seems ok, I myself would start from scratch and reformat the drive and reinstall XP (assuming you have an XP disk for it) since any maintenance programs are just as old. If you're not sure about this, tell us the make and model number of this pc.

I have a Netgear WiFi router which was set up on my desktop PC which I'm not currently using. I am using a laptop and my brother is using his PC. I've just installed the trial version of "Who is on my WiFi" because I'm having a few niggles. e.g. my laptop won't connect eventhough I'm almost sitting on top of the WiFi box (not a problem I have elsewhere with the laptop so I'm assuming it's ok). Speed when connected has also deteriorated recently. Also today there was a message on my laptop about another computer using the same I.P. address - which I've never seen before.
A scan using "Who is on my WiFi" is showing three connections. I can identify my laptop and my brother's PC but I don't know what the third one is.
Would this be the Netgear box itself or do I have someone else using my service.
If the answer is that I do have someone else using my service how do I stop them?
Many thanks

Answer:WiFi and who's connecting to it

Change your routers password - I presume you have it password protected? That will stop anyone else connecting to it.

My laptop is no longer recognising my wireless router, an Edimax 802.11g.My iPhone and my son's laptop both pick it up and work well anywhere in the house. My laptop however, is sat on top of the router and won't detect it at all!!!It all works well when it's plugged in via the ethernet cable but that's no good.I've checked the necessary settings and they seem to be ok - I think - so am at a loss really.Only thing I thought, does the router need to be connected to a pc permanently for the rest of the wireless equipment to work properly?Any ideas?Cheers,G.

Answer:WiFi not connecting

the router is independent - no pc connection required at all as the phone line goes into this router doesn't it?Have you made any changes to your pc recently?what security software have you installed?

Not only am I a WiFi newbie, I'm also a Windows 7 newbie as well. I learned to use computers on Mac/Apple computers. This just adds to my dilemma and confusion.

OK, here's where I'm at right now.

I have an HP laptop (windows 7 x 64 bit) that I've been trying to get to connect to several local WiFi hotspots. I've only been successful at connecting one time. This was at a local BestBuy store and the internet speed was next to non-existent. The sales person stated it was most likely because alot of their in-store demo-products were also connected to the same WiFi and it created a drag on the internet speed.

In an effort to connect to other free WiFi hotspots in my vicinity I built a "Long Range WiFi Antenna." It works like gangbusters regardless of which direction I aim it. And many of the hotspots I'm able to pick up are nationally known Free-WiFi-Hotspots.

The problem is that no matter how strong of a signal I'm receiving, I can't connect to the internet via any of these hotspots. I'll get a message on my laptop telling me that it can't connect to the chosen hotspot.

There has to be something that I'm missing here. My Mac computers will work but, I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong with my windows based laptop.

My "Long Range WiFi" antenna set up is a combination of a C. Crane Super-USB-WiFi-Antenna and an old Dish-Network parabolic dish plugged directly into the USB port on my laptop.

The combined number of both the Private and F... Read more

Info in your profile in the system specs would help greatly...PC/Laptop maker, model, ditto on the network adapters from your Device Manager. A screenshot of your adapter page from network and sharing...what anti-virus are you using, error messages you may have gotten while trying to connect, search for and install Xirrus WiFi desktop gadget, will show you signal strengths and channel info of surrounding connections. I can guess you have an HP with Atheros wifi adapter, have you tried updating the driver for the adapter at HP?

Recently my wifi has been acting up (by recently I mean like...9999999 weeks now) on my windows 7 when I try to connect to my wifi it either says "The key or passphrase is incorrect" or "windows can not connect to the Internet" ( something like that) But it doesn't make sense! Because the Internet password is correct! And also all other devices connect but the windows seven! But to make matters worse and also weird is that when I say windows seven I mean my windows 7 PC! The windows seven laptop is connecting perfectly! Also did I forget to say that the Internet I got is new!

Question: wifi connecting

I repaired a hp g60-235wm that had started out as vista upgraded to 7 and then windows 10. I thought it should automatically connect to internet but I have to turn it on manually with button. Is there a way i'm missing to do it automatically or isthat normal with this laptop?

Answer:wifi connecting

Hi!, @macwood: HP not have driver's for Microsoft Windows 10, Operating System for your computer.Only have for Vista and 7 ... http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-G60-Notebook-PC-series/3837658/model/3894827 IMHO, you must return to Windows 7 and download drivers from the site indicated.

I have two wifi APs (let's say AP-1 and AP-2) and I sometimes have to switch from one to the other. The AP-1 is my main AP so it is always set with "Connect Automatically" for boot up. But, a lot of the time it does not connect to either AP on boot.

When I need to use AP-2, I select AP-1 and click "Disconnect."

I select AP-2 and Click "Connect" leaving "Connect Automatically" un-checked.

After using AP-2, I again select it and click "Disconnect."

Then select AP-1 and make sure the "Connect automatically" is checked, then Connect.

At the next reboot, about 40% of the times it connects to AP-1 but the rest of the time it connects to neither even though "Connect Automatically" is still checked..

Anyone have some thoughts on how to force this so that it always connects to AP-1 on booting up?

Well, you or somebody else at your house is going to have to supply a bit more information about the WiFi set-up being used.

1) Name and brand of the wireless router or wireless access point being used to share the Internet connection.

2) The SSID of the wireless router or wireless access point and if it is set to broadcast the SSID.

3) What, if any kind of wireless encryption is being used and the key or pass phrase for that encryption. You do not need to tell us the actual key or pass phrase.

4) If the wireless router or wireless access is using any kind of MAC filtering to limit which computers and other hardware can connect to the wireless router or wireless access.

Hi. I am new here and my English is not very good so be gentle to me :D

I have a problem with XP SP3 freezing.

Normally my notebook is connected to internet via LAN cable. And everything is OK.

But when I disconnect notebook from LAN and I turn off the Local Area Connection and I connect to the internet via WiFi, Windows after couple of minutes freezes. Even a coursor is freezed and I must restart notebook by pressing turn off button for 5 seconds. Then when I turn on notebook, it starts, but after startup (1-2 minutes) Windows freezes again. This is repeated until I turn off Wireless Connection and turn on Local Area Connection.

Can you help me?

My daughters Desktop has no wireless card and her router is too far away to cable connect,I have installed a wifi USB dongle which works fine. The problem I have is when the PC is shut down when it is next started there is no connection. The message is "Connections available" when clicked on the relevant one it asks for the password (router)
Is this a regular thing with using a dongle?. or am I doing something wrong?
This is not really a problem as we now know the password by heart

Answer:connecting to wifi with usb dongle

Have you used the dongle's manufacturer's software to manage it - or are you asking Windows to manage it? I used to have the problem you're experiencing but now, when I install a dongle. I only install the driver - never the other software. With Windows managing it, you should find it connects automatically each time.

We have a used motorhome we use quite a bit. More and more campgrounds have WiFi but the signal is usually fairly weak. So I've been searching for better solutions but seem to just be confusing myself in the process.

As I understand it, if I bring my own repeater, I will be effectively halving the signal and thus the speed. A "true" WAP requires a hard-wire connection to the "home" router in the campground and that won't happen.

It would seem that what I really want is a high-gain, directional antenna to capture the existing signal, then connect another router(for wireless or wired) to provide connection inside the motorhome. (I would like to be able to connect up to 3-4 systems). Am I thinking about this right?

What I'm thinking is a small ITX type system running Linux, with a USB dongle in a directional antenna. This would capture the signal, join the network and provide routing/NAT'ing between my "internal" network and the campground net.. Then from that system, either plug in another router and/or a switch to connect up my systems.

Would this be the "best" solution and would it give me the best signal/speed? Any and all suggestions/comments welcome.

Answer:Connecting to campground WiFi

i would get a ubiquiti loco m2 and hook it up to the wan port on any 'ol wireless router you feel comfortable with...

set up the web interface to be accessed through your router so you can use it to join your wireless networks, voila, can even mount it to the outside of the RV if you want... also there are suction cup mounts available if you just want to stick it on a window or something... just make sure it's pointed at whatever you were wanting to connect to...

Yesterday my son bought a Y700.  It wouldn't connect to our wifi unless it was literally within 5' of the router. We returned it to Best Buy today and exchanged it for a new one.  The customer service rep said it was probably a bad wireless card. We got the new one home and the same problem happens.  It will start to connect, then lose the connection.  Or not make any connection at all.  Plus, there's a warning on the hardware scan, "Local Connection Test....warning." I doubt it's a problem with our internet connection or router, because people use iPhones and other laptops in the house and don't have any problems wtih connections. If there's not a simple solution, we're just gonna give up on the whole Lenovo laptop idea.

Answer:y700 not connecting to wifi

Well, for what it's worth....we returned the second machine for a refund.   No more Lenovo for us.  We'll shop around.
