Preferred Solution: WDS activation ...?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: WDS activation ...?

Please open a Command Prompt (Admin) or Powershell (Admin) and run:
slmgr /dlv

There will not be any uniquely identifying info in the result, please post the entire result here without blanking anything out and we can help further.

I suspect you probably have an erroneous Windows 10 Home product key installed and it needs to be changed to:

Greetings!

This is relatively new experience for me and I have spent some time Googling for solutions.

A friend of mine upgraded his genuinely activated Windows 8 Pro Parallels virtual machine to Windows 10 Pro. After the upgrade, he finds that his Windows 10 Pro is not activating. When I check, the error 0xC004C003 states that the activation is being blocked.

A common suggestion I have encountered was to install the OS from scratch, but that isn't practical in this situation. I am also aware that with Windows 10 the licensing is based on unique hardware identification, which makes me feel that this might affect virtual machine installations due to the nature of virtualizaiton, but surely Microsoft had thought about this before rolling out Windows 10 with the new licensing scheme (or at least I hope).

Another suggestion I read and tried was "slrmgr.vbs /rearm" --> reboot --> "slrmgr.vbs /ato". I still receive the same error. I also tried "slrmgr.vbs /ipk Windows8KeyHere" but it didn't work. I received an error code "0xc004e016" about the key being invalid.

Any ideas?

Answer:Mac Parallels Windows 8 Pro (genuine activation) upgraded to 10 Pro, activation block

If he doesn't want to reinstall, call Microsoft's licensing number and complain.

hi all

is SLP loader functions the same as windows activator?

i'm using Win Server 2003 Standard Edition as my OS. currently, it's already prompting and i have 27-days left for activation

this all happened when i initiate System Recovery using the same CD installer i used to setup the same computer almost 3-years ago. i did so as it hung-up and i can't managed even to go into Safe Mode, as well, the so called Last Known Good Configuration but still to no avail

i used the same CD Key i used initially before but it won't accept or recognized it where it states that if my CD Key was right and still not updating then i should telephone Microsoft

wow!

can i do that when i'm not in the continental USA much more these computer was registered not under my name since it's only a hand-me-down or surplus which is beneficial to me

so i'm looking for SLP loader or windows activator (if it function the same way) intended for Win Server 2003 Standard Edition as it may resolve my issue

hope it's okay to inquire and that if it's not advisable to reply post in here, i welcome it through PM

Answer:windows activation (27-days left for activation)

If it's a valid key, you should have no problem calling MS to re-activate Windows.

It should give you an option to pick which country you're from on the activation window, and then a number to call.

Hi there
I recently changed a MOBO from an INTEL based one to one using an AMD PHENOM processor -- W7 didn't want any new activation rather surprisingly. (Broken Mobo and I had a spare ASUS MOBO lying around).

However the first time I switched to using a LAN cable instead of a Wifi USB adapter I got the "Hardware has changed - please activate windows. OK it activated fine -- however seems strange to me that a MOBO change didn't call for any activation (Disks, memory, DVD device etc were canaballized from the old machine) but a simple switch from Wifi to a LAN did. !!! The internal logic of the activation process seems totally illogical and bizarre. (Running W7 x-64 ULTIMATE). !!!

Cheers
jimbo

Answer:W7 activation -- new MOBO fine but LAN connection wants activation

Hi guys , I installed ATI 2010 Home, Boxed version made a backup image to external HDD. got a message saying I had 30 days to activate trial version? I restored the backup image and I activated ATI , offline, I then received a message saying thanks successfully installed. When I access ATI now I get the same box asking for activation again. the options are Try out, Buy, Activate, Cancel . I was thinking of reactivating online , but am wary of further messing up the install . I have not registered the product yet , Had a look at the Acronis register page ( they tell you Not recommended to access the page) ? Any ideas with this one ? options uninstall , reinstall? Try activate online? Anyone experienced this problem?

Answer:Solved: Acronis keeps asking for activation after activation

Hi guys, this ones solved, I took a chance11 rebooted, connected to the internet, started ATI and reactivated online it worked . Same as last time only the ATI icon seems to be different, have tested it a few times and goes straight into Acronis without problems now. Done!

Hi Gents,

Hope someone can help me here. I've been using a retail version of Win7 Home premium 64 for about 2 years now with no issues.

During that time I've reinstalled the product possibly 6 or 8 times. Excessive I know but when things start to go wrong I like to start fresh again. Anyway from memory the last 2 times I have had to use phone activation.

A couple of weeks ago I dropped my laptop and killed the HDD. Put in a new one and reinstalled Win. I've just tried to activate with no luck. I went to phone activation and being lazy I typed in my old code I had saved from last time.

Now I can't activate and when I try and open the phone activation box I get a pop up from the toolbar saying the copy isn't genuine and nothing more.

Is there a way to resolve this or have I pissed off the activation so much that I actually have to shell out for a new copy?

Thanks in advance and I'm located in Thailand if that makes a difference.

Hello, I have my original activation key but when trying to finalize it, windows tells me this key is only for upgrades not for clean installs?

I had to to do clean install and it was from my original official backup disc so I'm not sure what the problem is?

Answer:Activation says my key is only for upgrades not activation?

Maybe you bought an upgarde disc and not a full install disc.

Use your original disc, not the backup.

2 laptops, both have insider pro on - now updated to 10240
both requiring activation
I have full DVD of win7 & win 8 pro with licences
to activate the laptops, do I have to delete win 10, and go back to win 7/8 to get a licence??
or is there another way to translate the licences??

Answer:Activation Win 10 pro - how

How long have you had the Insider builds running on the machines? If you've been an Insider for a while then 10240 should activate automatically, if you've recently installed an Insider build and updated to 10240 there's a chance it will not activate.

If you want RTM and opt out of being an Insider you would need to clean install W7 or 8.1 then run an in place upgrade either via Windows Updates or use the Windows 10 Download Tool to run from within your installed version of Windows.

Question: W7 Activation

Hello,Recently I reformatted my Toshiba C660D Hdd ,after a disastrous upgrade to W10. I could not go back to W7 despite being within the 30 days(said files were deleted),and could not gain access to "D" drive where I had both an image and factory reset, so used media recovery usb from Toshiba.Using this I reformatted and re-installed W7 successfully, however this also changed my activation key. Do I need to change it back to original,or should I just leave it as it is.My computer indicates that Windows 7 has activated successfully.Thank You

Answer:W7 Activation

If Windows says it is activated then leave it. The key on the Recovery USB may have been different but still activated Windows.

Question: XP Activation

I had a discussion with a friend and I wonder if anybody has some experience with this:

If you have two different PCs with different hardware and install XP on both machines with the same ProductKey, could you activate them both?

If so, what is the activation good for? And if not, how can Microsoft differ installing on two different machines at the same time on side, and from installing on one machine, upgrading the hardware und reactivating a second time on the other side?

I am curious what you think about this.

When using the Select series CD's (businesses etc) there isn't an activation for your XP.

Question: Win 7 activation

So if I burn an ISO to a flash drive and have several keys for Win7, will I be activating the same copy of 7 or would they all act like separate CD's would?

I have 3 servers that I don't have an optical to and the USB Flash is the best idea for this. I did this with Vista and think I deactivated the first install with a second install and separate key for the second machine. The first machine immediately told me I had to re-register it. Does the installation ID bounce?

Question: Pro activation

I used the "anytime upgrade" option and upgraded Home Premium to Professional. I have decided that $90+ is a bit too much for the additional perks, and I have 3 days to activate Pro version. My question is what will happen in 3 days if I don't activate the Pro upgrade? My hope is that it will revert back to Home Premium, but will it stay in "pro" version and keep bugging me to put in the new key?

Answer:Pro activation

This is unlikely... There is no functionality in Windows 7 that permits it to roll-back to a previous version because you didn't purchase a new key...

I'm guess you're going to have to reinstall Premium...

OK today I got a random re-activation message on my Win7 Pro. The only thing that has changed was that I updated my video card driver yesterday. They actually said that might be the cause.

Activation is much more closely tied to hardware now than it was in the past, but that shouldn't cause a big problem, unless you have an OEM version of W7.

Question: xp activation...

I managed to scratch up my windows xp home cd..
so i downloaded one off bittorrent. ( i have a valid xp key )
but when i come to install it wont take my serial key........so i put in the one that came with the torrent..how can i change the key now so i am using my valid key?? Ive tried a few key changers but none of them seem to work...anyone got any ideas??

Answer:xp activation...

You can't, you'll have to reinstall windows. You have to ensure you have the EXACT edition of XP for that CD key to work. I've even heard of manf. specific CD keys, like Dell CD keys will only work with dell CD's (which in your case you'd have to find a Dell CD download or a copy from a friend).

I do not believe you can change your pirated (yes pirated) CD key, you'll have to reinstall.

In order for your old CD key to work you will have to ensure you have the exact same edition as your old one. One thing you could try is copying the CD w/ Nero and see if that fixes the issue.

Question: Wpa Activation Key

Hey guys, I went ahead and reinstalled my Windows XP, all was going fine until asked for activation key, I inputted the one which was with the pack and now I get the error message, invalid key. This is the only activation key I have and the picture matches exactly the one on the screen, what can I do to get a new key? Im not going to call Microsoft for this as they charge for their customer phone support which I find utterly disgusting, have we not paid enough for the sofware in the first place! To give you further details the version I have of XP is from late 2003 and has SP1 written on it, which I believe refers to service pack 1 from what I can tell. Thanks for the assistance. I am wholly open to the idea of being given a hack code if anyone knows where I can get one, I paid for the product in the first place so whichever solves the problem mostly quickly the better basically. Thanks everyone!

Answer:Wpa Activation Key

It's likely that the activation failed because you've already activated that particular copy of XP.

When you attempt to activate (and it fails) you should be given the option to activate by phone. This is free and only takes a few minutes to do (I do it at work several times a week). The computer (on the phone) will ask you some questions and then will provide a series of numbers to re-activate your copy of XP. If you don't answer the questions correctly, they'll connect you with a human who'll ask you some more questions and then will give you the numbers to re-activate.

FWIW - We don't support "hacks" here, nor any other illegal activity.

Question: win xp activation

Here's the problem: I'm being told by MS to activate XP nonstop since I reinstalled it from scratch after having main files in the original wiped out by a virus. Thing is, I don't have the original cd. Well, there wasn't an original cd because XP came with the computer. Plus the computer was given to me by my cousin. I borrowed a disk to reinstall XP and ended up having to use that key code because the one on my computer sticker "doesn't match the disk." I used the jellybean program to change the key code to the matching one for my computer and I get an error message telling me that its invalid and to check it again. Now I'm stuck. I don't know who to ask at MS for help, if they'll even help me, so please......

Answer:win xp activation

You have to actualy wipe (zero-sum-fill) the hard drive first before you re-install.
Then, Install with the CD-Key of the copy of XP you have.
But, if anyone else has activated with that cd-key, it won't activate on yours.
So, you'll probably have to buy a new copy of XP.

I am pretty sure I hate Win XP. I know I hate it`s activation feature.

OK my problem> I have XP SP1 on a 80 Gig drive, it`s a very clean load. The software is a registered/bonified/honest to God copy of XP, verified by Redmond to be an authentic copy. On it I also have software for my Plextor DVD/CD R/RW burner. A copy of Nero 6 burning software, and DVD X Copy, which also is activated online. All softwares also legit, and verified as so.

Question: Activation Key

I got a stupid question but I never really thought about it before. Will my Windows XP activation key ever wear out? In the past 3 weeks I've reformatted a few times trying different things with dual boot using Windows and Linux (basically I screwed up the grub loader a few times and had to reformat 3 times...) Well hey I'm new to Linux! lol.

So I've used my activation key a total of 4 times. I'm wondering where there will be a point where they will say its invalid? Is there some defense to be sure I'm not just installing it onto 4 different computers?

Yeah just thought I'd ask.

Answer:Activation Key

not unless your activating it that many times. The algorithm that checks the key for validity is hard coded into the setup routine and does not change. Now on activation though XP will check with Microsoft's internet database to see if the key is still valid for activation or not. But even then all it takes is a phone call to have it reset.

Supposedly, (and I don't know the truth of this so take it with a grain of salt) Microsoft has the ability to nuke the activation routine once XP is no longer supported. Which will make you not have to activate anymore. But that's not until 2009-11 sometime.

When I booted my PC this morning, I got a message saying that the hardware had changed and I had to reactivate Win XP. Well, the hardware hadn't changed, but I attempted to do the activation. The activation window opened, but the normal activation info did not appear. Instead, the hard drive is constantly busy and msoobe.exe is using about 30% of the CPU and this goes on forever. (Forever being at least 10 minutes in this case). I've tried it multiple times with the same result.

Everything appears to be fine on the hard drive and all applications work properly. I've always accepted the installation of the latest XP maintenance and am at SP3 level. Any idea as to how to proceed? I have the 888-571-2048 activation number, but when you call that they assume you can get the activation window open and see the options available. Maybe if I had left the activation loop run for a few hours it might have eventually presented me with the proper screen?

Answer:Win XP Activation help!!

It may be a virus. Your windows activation data is stored in your C:\WINDOWS\system32\wpa.dbl along with other stuff. That may have become corrupted, so I would suggest using a virus scanner first to assure that's not the case.

Question: XP Activation

Hi folks,

I just bought a SONY Vaio GRZ630 Notebook computer with WinXP installed.

I temporarily hooked it into my home network to zip on over to Microsoft and get my XP activated so it doesn't up and die in 30 days. Well....in looking around, there is no activation icon in the systems tray and there is no activation listing under

Start/
Programs/
Accesories/
System Tools

Which, BTW, the XP help center said there would be such things.....

So....what gives? Is this Notebook immune from activation thingy stuff? It gives the appearance of already being activated, but I can't tell for sure. Also....as added info....when I first turned the machine on, I was fully prepared to enter in the Product ID code like I have done with other Windows installs....but with this one...it just went through some SONY screens and dropped me on the desktop, ready to go.

Thanks.

Answer:XP Activation

Some computers like Gateways that come with a system restore disk have a volume licensed modified version of XP, most likely the disk won't work on any other PC since the registry key that activates it is somewhere on the CD and is tied to that particular hardware. No, it doesn't need activation. Like I said, there is a reg file on the disk that is installed when you run the restore disk that ativates it.

I actually feel manufacturers are short-changing people by these restore disks. I mean, you bought the CD, you should be able to use it on any PC you want to. They prevent piracy I guess.

Can I transfer a license to another computer?

Consumers should use the terms of their license agreements to determine if it is permitted to transfer a license to another computer. If a transfer is permitted by the license agreement, the product has to be removed from the computer on which it was first installed. Users may have to complete the activation on the new computer by placing a call to the Microsoft Activation Center.

Question: XP Activation Help

I recently accidentally wiped my hard drive after trying to restore my master boot record, and I've needed to reinstall Windows. I have a Dell OEM XP SP2 disc laying around and I installed it without a hitch. My problem? It's on an HP. It constantly asks me to activate. Now I know this may be a stupid question, so be gentle. Can I call Microsoft to get it activated without any flak from them? I would call and try, but I'm kind of paranoid that they'll ask a question that will get me busted. I may be a worrywart, but I have to make certain before I call. Thanks for your help in adavnce.

Answer:XP Activation Help

an OEM disc is meant to stay with its original Motherboard..while you can get away with changing out the HDD, it can ONLY be activated with the MoBo it was originally activated with...

in short, no, you cannot activate your copy since you've put it on a different MoBo..AFAIK, you're gonna have to get a new copy of XP...they are usually on sale for around $130 for the OEM version...

Question: XP activation

Hi you all.

I have a small question.

I just built a new machine,a e6600 with a p5b delux mobo.
I installed xp using a old cd that i had(just because i havent bought a new xp yest)
I know that this isnt a leagel copy, but i thought that id install it and then i have 30 day to validate it.

bute here comes the problem.

I cant get it validated with the new key.

when i look at the system properties it says oem and dell, and i dont have a dell.
So i think that the cd i used was some kind of coperate version of a dell xp,

now i try to validate it with a key that i know works, that i use at work and have ok to use(its a multi licence key)
But i only get invalid key.

Does the XXXXXX-640-7721335-XXXXX from the system properties have anything to do with the validation?

Cause my com at home has XXXXX-Oem-XXXXXXX-XXXXX.

And if i change that will i be able to activate it?

Thanks in advance

Question: Activation

I upgraded to 10.

Here is a pic of the activation status. Even If i clean install 10, It won't ask for key rite?

Answer:Activation

Hey mate,

When you upgrade with the free reserved copy from the GWX app on an activated Windows 7 or 8.1 PC, Windows 10 has a generic key included that will activate it.

If you clean or upgrade install Windows 10 without doing the above first, Windows 10 will not be activated.
Can I reinstall Windows 10 on my computer after upgrading with free upgrade?

Once you’ve upgraded to Windows 10 using the free upgrade offer, you will be able to reinstall, including a clean install, on the same device. You won’t need a product key for re-activations on the same hardware. If you make a meaningful change to your hardware, you may need to contact customer support to help with activation. You’ll also be able to create your own installation media like a USB drive or DVD, and use that to upgrade your device or reinstall after you’ve upgraded.

I bought XP Pro from my school's bookstore and they included both x86 and x64 versions. I've already activated the x86 version but I haven't opened the x64 version yet. Can I still register and use the x64 version of XP or is it somehow tied to my already registered x86 version? Both versions of XP come with different serials.

Answer:XP Pro x86 and x64 activation

The way I understand it is that you can use one or the other but not both at the same time, but I don't know if its tied into activation.

Unless you have 4GB of RAM or more, I wouldn't even bother with the x64 of XP. 64bit driver support for XP isn't all that great and you can nothing really on a system with less than 4GB.

So,

I had Win 8.1 retail on my machine, updated it to W10.
Now I swapped the mobo and trying to activate W10 again.
It won't accept my old serial...is there a way to activate it? I thought retail (not OEM) versions could be transferred to a new build as long as they are removed from the previous build?

Answer:Activation with old key?

Actually, the way I had done it was wrong; I had used the ShowKeyPlus to reveal what was my original code and that was all wrong. Found the original serial and everything is fine, Windows activated :-)

Question: Win 7 Activation

Hi, can you help an old gimmer? I purchased a copy of Win 7 on Ebay back in July. I was taken to hospital on the day that I received it. So I was not able to install it until last week. The activation failed and said the code was not genuine, (although it is on the box); the buyer is no longer on Ebay and I have no way of contacting him/her. So is there any work around, or do I have to bite the bullet and buy another version???? Anticipating your replies, LFU2

Answer:Activation

To get another key, yes the only way to do so is to buy another disk. However - I am not aware that there is an "allowed number of activations" - just that too many within a period will necessitate you explaining why to MS.I think you friend should call them again and explain the situation, assuming there's a legitimate reason for an excess number of re-installs.

Question: Win 7 activation

I am upgrading a winxp dell laptop to win 7. The license is legit, I bought a new work system with a win 7 ultimate license and downgraded it to xp using my old xp license and wanted to use the win license to upgrade my home laptop, in effect swapping the licenses on both machines. I did a clean install on the home system, formatted the drive, the install appears to have gone correctly but never asked for the new license. When I try to enter the license manually it keeps telling me there is a problem and to call Microsoft and register over the phone. I would rather figure out what the problem is and get it corrected. I think the way I installed win 7 on my home system wasn't the best way to do it but at this point I'm not sure what the best next steps should be.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Dear Guys,

I am using genuine Windows 7 Home Premium. Recently I upgraded it to Windows 7 professional using anytime upgrade key which I bought got it from someone who told me it was genuine but it wasn't. Unfortunately I can't do anything about it.

Now I am willing to buy Win 7 Pro thru anytime upgrade. I do not need to buy a new Win 7 Pro but I can buy Win 7 home to Win 7 pro anytime upgrade. Right.

I have two queries :

- I live in Asia, I heard that Win 7 Home Premium - Pro is available only in selected contries (mostly european & US). Does this mean I cant upgrade ?

- If I upgrade (using win anytime upgrade) and get a key, do I need to install home edition & then put the key in or I can put key in this non genuine Win 7 Pro OS to make it genuine.

Please advice.

Thanks You,

Yours Sincerely,
Sam

1) You wont be able to make an online purchase.

Quote:
Windows Anytime Upgrade is only available for online purchase in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Source: Windows Anytime Upgrade - Windows 7 features - Microsoft Windows

2) You can buy the WAU key from retail. Check out the stores in your country. Also, see this Amazon link.

Amazon.com: Microsoft Windows 7 Anytime Upgrade [Home Premium to Professional]: Windows XP: Software

3) I am not sure whether you can do a repair install and use your AU key with it but you can give it a shot.

Repair Install

If that doesnt work, you can try changing the product key on your current install with the AU key.

Change Windows 7 Key | How to Change Windows 7 Product Key

If none of those work, you'll need to reinstall your home premium version then do an anytime upgrade.

Answer:activation

Vista click here (windows-vista-update.com)You can activate either online or by phone. To activate online you need an Internet connection. Activating by phone requires interacting with an automated phone system. To activate Windows on this computer, do the following: Open Windows Activation by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Computer, clicking Properties, and then clicking Click here to activate Windows now. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. You can then select the method you want to use to activate.Note If you chose to automatically activate Windows online when you set up your computer, automatic activation begins trying to activate your copy of Windows three days after you log on for the first time.Or is this what you mean/want?To check your Windows activation status, do the following:1. Open System by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking System.2. Under Windows activation, you can view your activation status. You can also change your product key by clicking Change product key.

Hi there

didn't you get a prompt for W10 during the re-install process. Refuse that (say later) . Install W7 and activate . Now go to windows Update in control panel and you should see Windows 10 offered as an update.

When re-installing W7 WIPE all the partitions off the old W7 partition / HDD.

Folks,I bought Win 7 recently, (Full retail, not OEM, at the special pre-order price). I didn't have a specific use for it at the time, but then decided to try it on my laptop. I liked it and eventually wiped Vista altogether from the laptop and freshly installed Win 7, and got everything running REALLY nicely. It was activated about a week ago.Lo and behold couple of night ago a serious problem with the laptop. Bottom line is that it's a motherboard problem and a repair is not a realistic financial proposition...So I'll be looking to replace the laptop. One of the models I'm considering comes with no OS.Now becasue this is a retail version of Win7 I know I can install it on another machine, as long as it's only on one at a time.Does anyone know how much of an issue it will be, to activate this copy of Win 7 on another computer?I understand, (from threads regarding other folk reactivating XP in the past) that attempting to activate online will fail, and a number is presented for you to call and activate by phone. What I'm wondering is how much hassle is it IN PRACTICE. Do you speak to a real person? Do they give you a hard time? I'm wondering especially because of the short time involved between installations. Thanks in anticipation,Regards,Simsy

I'm sure this has been brought up before, but here goes anyway...

I'm installing a new MB/CPU in my computer this weekend. I own Windows XP Pro retail, and I've installed new MB's before, and everytime, I have to call in to activate, and I just tell them my old MB crapped out, and I had to install a new one.

Is there a limit to how many times I can do this? I truly only have it installed on this one 'computer'. I'm keeping the same VC, memory, HD's and OD's...

Thanks.

I believe there is a limit, but that it expires every 6 months or so. Assuming you don't make this a monthly thing, you shouldn't have an issue.

I'm asking on behalf of my Mom - about a year ago my uncle did an overhaul of my Mother's old computer. When he gave it back to her, it had XP installed on it. Recently when she starts up the computer, the Windows Product Activiation screen comes up saying she must activate with Microsoft before she can log on. We were unable to locate any XP disc, and my uncle insists he gave it to her, but we fear he may have uploaded an illegal copy. My Mom ordered a legal copy of XP, but now we can't figure out what to do with it. The computer can't get out of the Activation window, and nothing happenes when we put the disc in the drive. We tried putting in the code we got with the new XP, but it doesn't work. The new XP disc is the version that comes with Service Pack 3, but I am not sure of what she had previously. She would just contact Microsoft, but after buying XP, her budget won't allow for a $59.00 phone call or email.

Any help or advice anyone has would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Answer:I need some help for Activation

Hey man just when you start the computer press F2 or F1 (or the key the screen tell
you to press for BIOS). Do this quickly before anything Windows related appear if you fail turn off pc and try againg.

If you successfully got into the BIOS first be careful dont change anything, use the arrows keys and look for some settings to change the Boot order "boot sequence", "boot priority", etc

Change the booting order to Boot from CD/DVD rom first. After you do that exit saving your changes (usually F10).

Then you restart the computer with the Windows XP cd you bought in and the setup should start, follow instructions to install XP. After it finish restart computer again, go into BIOS again and change the booting order again and put Hard Drive first.

And well that should do it.

You can't unless it's...well we're not supposed to even mention the "H" word here. Posting here is for legitimate reasons. If you don't have the CD-key for your OS you need to buy another license for it.

I tried putting in the Key that is located bhind the tower of the Desktop PC (Which is an XP activation key) But as far as i know u can update windows xp home to vista basic home. The way i got it on the desktop is by a Dell OEM installation disc, any advice as to what i should do? ty in advance

Answer:Activation

You have to use the Vista key, not the XP key.
If you are upgrading, and asked for the key number give the Vista number.

Question: Win 7 Activation

Is there going to be anywhere to purchase a key for the RTM?? And no I don't mean Technet subscriptions where you have to pay $1000. How long is the RTM good for without a key?

Answer:Win 7 Activation

You get a key when you buy the retail package. You can re-arm and use Win7 w/o a key for 90-120 days.

Question: Activation.

Can I activate Windows 7 Ultimate with a Windows 7 Enterprise MAK key?

Answer:Activation.

I don't know but I wouldn't think so, I thought that the keys related to the version you have installed, or what you want to install.

Question: W10 activation ??

I just activated my copy of w10 insider by inputting my product key for 8.1 pro which I own. I did this by going to settings update and recovery then, activation. It accepted my key,and now says windows is activated
Does this mean I don't have to rollback to 8.1 before getting the official release on July.
Would be nice to know that I wouldn't have to o through any bother when the time comes.
It would make sense to me that this activation should be enough to prove my validation for the upgrade
Anyone know ?

Question: XP Activation!

Hi,
Just out of personal preference i don't usually register most software, and after a nightmare install (3 days) of Windows XP Home pro, Ive found that my system will not be operational if I don't activate it by phone or web!

I have installed a fully legal version of the software with a legitimate key code, and just wondered if any knows weather it is really necessary to go through the activation process??? or if there is a way around it???

Cheers,

Jademunky!!
