Ideapad 310-15IKB 80TV Slow performance and Conservation Mode is not working properly

Question: Ideapad 310-15IKB 80TV Slow performance and Conservation Mode is not working properly

Hey,To begi, I have 2 problems since I bought this notebook about 2 weeks ago1- The performance is so poor I am running Windows 10 and what I can notice is the bad performance from such an i7 processor @2.7 to 2.9 Ghz with 8 GB RAM(DDR4) and Nvidia Geforce 920MX(2GB)once I remove the AC Adapter and run it on the battery it tends to be slower and even when plugged in it's still giving me like the minimal performance, I have another laptop which is processor i5 @2.3 Ghz , 4 GB of RAM(DDR3), Intel Graphics Card(1GB) and it is running at much higher speed and I have tested this on some game and the i5 PC gave me a Higher FPS(90+) while the Ideapad gave me something around 60So, is it because some kind of factory settings for the lowest performance ever on that PC as I want to change it? Please give me a decent Solution for that problem as I can't work on the Ideapad this way.....2- Since I bought this laptop and I am using it regularly so I wanted to limit the battery usage to increase its lifespan so I have download Lenovo settings and Companion to Activate the Conservation Mode but It never worked, It never limited the battery to 60% and the battery still goes to completion....So I need a solution for thatThanks in advance.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a problem in the touchpad, it doesn't work at all, (doesn't appear in device manager and the pointer disappears when i unplug the USB mouse) I tried all methods, the fn +f6, updated Bios, updated Drivers, re-installed Windows, even I made a test with a Linux live CD and everything worked except the touchpad. In BIOS there isn't any options regarding the touchpad as wellI was wondering if there is something needed to be enabled in firmware? I wonder. what can I do at this point, I am using an external USB mouse, but I need the touchpad to be working as well.* the laptop is new, there is no physical damage at all

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad 310 - 15ikb 80TV - no touchpad

Hello AfahmyThanks for using the Lenovo forums.
Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)1. Turn the unit off2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter5. Turn the unit on as normal

I got this issue for a long time. Don't know if this is a factory defect, or perhaps a design flaw on Lenovo. The battery was good to ok when I first got it, then came all the Windows 10 updates which made it worse. I would just normally use it and most of the time I only got around 1.5-2 hours. I tried everything, control start-up items, control background apps, disabled Fast Boot even reduced the screen brightness but to no avail. All my drivers are updated, even the BIOS.Does anyone have this issue? If you do, did you try any other tricks that might have even temporarily solved this issue?I wish some of the moderators can report this to Lenovo Engineers, so they can find a solution.

I recently bought a Lenovo Ideapad 310 about a month ago, shortly after installing all reccomended updates on the Lenovo companion app, including reccomended BIOS and Windows 10 updates my laptop has started getting semi random freezes. When a freeze occurs the entire system locks up, the sound makes a very short interval constant loop, and I have to preform a full reboot. It seems to happen more frequently when playing certain games (CSGO, Left 4 Dead 2) Less frequently when playing less demanding games (Starbound, Minecraft) however sometimes it feels like it can happen at any time as it has happened a few times just browsing the internet or once while idle and downloading something in the background.Sometimes I can tell when it's about to happen. In the case where the computer is about to freeze while playing CSGO I lose connection to the server, the game tell's me it's attempting to reconnect, every time I see this the computer goes into the freeze 5-10 seconds later, This morning I was fast enough to alt tab before the freeze and noticed that my laptop said it was still connected to the internet just before it then froze and I had to reboot I have no idea what could possibly be causing this but wanted to know what my options are or wether anybody else was experiencing similar constant and seemingly random freezes

Can anyone please tell me if the above bios update is compatible with the 'non-touch' version of this laptop. The text suggests that it is included but when it goes to install it it pauses and tells me it is only for touch versions. I am now confused and understandably reluctant to go ahead. ThanksTF.

Hi, In the Lenovo Settings application when I toggle on the conservation mode for the battery, the battery should stop charging at around 60%. However, even though the conservation mode is toggled on, the battery will charge to 100% and stay at 100%. The icon near the battery usually would indicate whether the AC adapter is plugged in by showing a plug and if you would toggle conservation mode, this AC adapter plug would change into a leaf. However now it is always a leaf, whether I the conservation mode is on or off.  I appreciate all suggestions.

Had my Z40-70 about two weeks now, and am having trouble getting Conservation Mode to actually kick in. So was wondering how to properly get this to go.   Had been calling up Energy Manager (v1.0.0.35) from the system tray, pressing the fly-out pane, clicking the last tab, and enabling Conservation Mode. Energy Manager even says it's on Conservation Mode, yet the battery is showing 'Fully Charged (100%)."  Whenever I happen to get Conservation Mode enabled, and need a fully charged battery the next day, I open the Energy Manager options and disable Conservation Mode. That usually sets it back to charging at 100%. But when I get back home ans want Conservation Mode, it never really goes into that mode - just says that it is.  So is there some ritual I should do each time, like turn off the laptop, unplug it, and turn it back on, then plug it back in, - or something else? Am at a total loss on getting this back into Conservation Mode.  What I had done on a previous attempt was to repair the program from the Lenovo rebuild partition (it is not hidden). But I don't want to do that every time I want Conservation Mode enabled again.  There has to be something else that I'm missing, as even the instructions over at Conservation Mode in Lenovo Energy Manager doesn't help any in this case.  So what's the secret in getting back into Conservation Mode?

Answer:How does one properly evoke Conservation Mode?

Found a cure, though not 100% sure this is how Conservation Mode was designed.  Read from another post which gave me the idea to unplug the Z40-70 till about 50%. Plugged the AC charger back in, and while in Conservation Mode the battery got charged to 60% - and it has been holding.  Unsure if this might be related, I had also ran Gauge Reset while on the battery. Performed the Fan Dust Removal while I was there too.

Hello!I have one questionIf I keep my laptop connected to the A/C and turn the Conservation Mode on (and get fully charged to the 60%) would the laptop be consuming energy from the battery or from the AC power?I mean, I bought this laptop about 3 months ago (IDEAPAD 310-15ABR) I used to have an HP with a removable battery and since I'm almost always sitted on a desk, I kept the laptop pluged and with no battery (I removed the battery), I wanted to do the same with this one but it doesn't have a removable battery. What I would like to know is if I keep my Lenovo connected and with the coservation mode on, is it ok? would it affect the battery at some point? keeping it pluged when its fully charged means it is working with the AC power and not with the battery power? Thank you! English is not my native language, sorry!

I've had my Windows 10 Ideapad for about a month, and have had no problems with it.  This morning, when I turned it on, I got a message saying the battery needed to be charged and showed it was down to 10%.  I turned it off and plugged it in.  After 5+ hours, it will now not boot up at all.  The little light next to the plug is on and so is the one that is the system status indicator.  Aside from those 2 lights, there is nothing - no light, no sound, nada.  I tried holding the power button down for 30+ seconds - still nothing. Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated.

I recently purchased a ideapad 700 for home use. However, when the conservation mode is turned on, i noticed the notebook sometimes charged to 100% by itself without consent. Then I would have to disable the conservation mode, and then re-enable again the function so the battery would deplete its battery to 60%. This is not often happening everyday, but it did happened some often and it is annoying since it is wasting the charge cycle of the battery. Any help?

I have it turned on, but no matter what I do (running the charge down fully, gauge resets etc.) the battery keeps charging to 100%, and I get a warning message telling me this will kill my battery life. I've had this problem for the last few months - G510 laptop, around 1 year old. Hello everybody,  I have the following problem with my Z710. I use it mostly plugged in and so I have enabled "Conservation Mode" in Energy Manager. As a result I get the indication "plugged in, not charging" around 60% as expected. If I understand that correctly, it means that Energy Manager has to keep the battery charged at 60%, only it doesn't. When I unplug the laptop after a day or two on conservation mode, despite showing the battery at 60%, it only lasts around 30-45 seconds and the laptop shuts down abruptly. I just get a "battery critically low" type of message and then I only have a few seconds to plug in the power cord and let it charge.  Without conservation mode, with the battery fully charged, I can use it without a problem for 4+ hours as expected. The problem has always been there, since I bought the laptop about 6 months ago. Any opinion/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Answer:Z710 conservation mode not working correctly

Sounds like the battery had bit the dust. Charge it fully and see if it lasts a lot longer. But their diagnostic should flag the batter as bad if you checked.

Hi,I bought an IdeaPad 320-15IKB type 80XL in a Carrefour and I noticed that was working very slow plus was having a wear noise in the HD so I decided to go and change it. They give me, after a long wait, a new notebook from the same series and this one is having exactly the same problem.I ran a benchmark and the general performance is just not good (processor, HD,...)Does anyone knows if this is due to a failure on the series? or if has a solution?I contact Lenovo support and they are not giving me any rational solution other than go to the place where I bought the notebook for the warranty (which is in a different continent!!!!!) and I don't find the way to make a formal complaint.

I don't know if this has something to do with the OS itself, but definitely not hardware related. I checked everything, RAM, the Motherboard and esp. the Harddrive, and all are in working order. Even openning file-explorer and Recycle-Bin would take a anywhere from 4-10 seconds. This happens after everyboot (with Fastboot enabled or disabled), but after a while everything would open almost instantly, except for apps like Adobe Photoshop and Acronis True Image. Is this normal, or something I should worry about?

Hi friends. I am using Lenovo Ideapad 310-15IKB running on Windows 10 64-bit, Anniversary Update. Lately, I got a BIOS update through? Companion app which said "System is not UEFI", since I was using Legacy mode. So I converted my disc from MBR to GPT using AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional software. But after converting I noticed that some of the hotkeys like airplane mode, disable mic, disable camera, disable touchpad are not working (Disable toucpad did work, but the disabled icon wasn't displayed). So then I reverted back to Legacy mode using same software. But still it didn't work. I tried reinstalling all the drivers from the Lenovo support website. But still it didn't work. Is there any solution for this problem? Some keys like volume and brightness still work.

Hi, I bought a new Lenovo ideapad 510-15IKB about a month ago. It has windows 10. When I click on camera app it says "we can't find your camera. Check to be sure it's connected and installed properly, that it isn't being blocked by antivirus software, and that your camera drivers are up-to-date. If you need it, here's the error code: 0xA00F4244(0xC00D36D5). I have first disabled my antivirus and tried, but that didn't work. 'I checked device manager and there I couldn't see "Imaging devices" under which camera should show up as far as I know. Then I installed the camera driver here[1] and restarted the laptop but still camera app wouldn't work and camera wasn't there under device manager. Any help to get this issue resolved would be appreciated.  [1] http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/lk/en/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/500-Series/510-15IKB/downloads Thanks,Devni

Answer:Ideapad 510-15IKB - Cam not working/ Drivers page returning error

Hi Nour-J, The page error might have been a temporary issue. I just check the support site and its currently working.  In any case the system should also have a copy of the drivers in "D:\drivers\" if it had windows pre-installed.If any case installing the camera drivers does not work, try re-installing the chipset drivers also. Hope this helps. Cheers,

Hi.I have some issue with my Ideapad Z510.When AC adapter is plugged in, everythink seems fine, and work properly.Problem starts when i disable AC adapter form my komputer, then performance of it drasticly low. It doesnt matter that i have put my charge pan on high performance, every single options is on high performance and still its lagy and low. When i put AC adapter, everything back to normal. Dont know if its issue only by me ? or by this model ? how to chenge it to get full performance on battery ? i dont care than energy will be eaten very fast, it doesn matter. What matter for me is that i need to have full performance on battery, same as like on AC adapeter switche on. Thank you for answer and help.

Answer:Ideapad Z510 low performance on battery mode

I have some info. I tested it. And what i found is:When i put AC adapter in laptop i have full power, then i disable AC adapter and power is lost, then i chage power managin to low, and change again to high performance ... and what i get ? i get full power without AC adapter. Next i put AC adapter into laptop and disable it, and again...low power, and again i change in power management to low and to high...and again i get high without cable. So what i can tell you ? Its not battery issue, because i can make it that it will work on battery on high performance. Its software problem. Tell me how to repair it ? Becuase when i turn on laptop without AC adapter, it doesnt matter what i switch in power management, it will dont go on maks power, after plug in ac adapter, power is back, and now i can disable it and change managment to low and high performance and its ok. Pls help

I bought ideapad 710S after research and survey, but the performance of 710s is really disappointing. The computer has strange problem and unstable performance. After my first week, I sent it to the maintanence center. Lenovo maintenance center was nice enough to change the mainboard for me. However, after 3 weeks of using, the problems reoccured again. the computer has slow processing capability.  I use simple word program and my typing does not show on the screen simultanously, instead there is the waiting cycle icon keeps apperaing. Plus, there seem to be extreme heat release problem with lound fan noise. I returned to the maintenance center and after that 3 weeks, the shop replaced ROM and heat fan.
When I got home, I started working on the document and recognize heat problem is gone. However, the delay processing problem remains. I have a problem getting my work done with this 710S because everything delays. By everything I mean my typed sentence delays by more than 10 seconds, my access to internet website consumes more than 30 seconds, program opening takes almost 1 minute. I feel disappointed, frustrated and mad with the quality of ideapad. I was a fan of thinkpad and this wiped off and torn down my believe of lenovo brand.

Hi, The fan on my IdeaPad Y570 has suddenly stopped switching on. It does not spin regardless of temperature, and as a result, temperatures reach 90C+. The dedusting mode works fine, the fan spins up as expected for the cycle, and sounds normal. So the fan is not physically broken or clogged. I have also installed 3rd party software CPUID HWMonitor to check if the temperature sensors are functioning, and they all show temperatures at expected levels, and more than high enough to warrant the fan coming on. I don't think I have installed any new software that might interfere with it. I have tried re-installing the Lenovo Energy Management software, but that didn't help. I have also tried starting the laptop in safe mode, to no effect. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. HWMonitor Screenshot:

I have a problem... I have bought my second Lenovo notebook in 3 months time. This time it is Z50-70 with i7-4510U on board alongside Realtek RTL8723BE (802.11n WiFi card).  On clean Windows 7 64 bit OS with the newest system updates and drivers installed (including 2xwl01w1) I am only getting about 3.5Mb/s download and 5.5MB/s upload on my WiFi connection. Upload speed looks fine but the upload should be easily over 30MB/s. In my previous notebook (Z510 with Intel 7260N) I have EXACTLY the same problem but thought I was just unlucky with the model. This time however I am certain Lenovo notebooks are just faulty. What's more, in case of Z50-70 the whole back cover of my notebook is protected with warranty stick and the bios has a 'whitelist' so there is no way to exchange the WiFI module and keeping the warranty. Additional Info:802.11d: DisabledBandwidth: 20_40MHzBeacon Interval: 100Preamble Mode: Short & LongRoaming Sensitivity Level: LowWake on Magic Packet: EnabledWake on Pattern Match: EnabledWiFi Config: PerformanceWireless Mode: Auto // there is no 802.11n option on the listAllow the computer to turn off this device: Off The tests were made 0.5m from the router. At the same distance I have 35MB/s Down 6MB/s Up speed on my HTC One M7 and on desktop PC with TP-Link 722N. Using Lan cable I achieve 60MB/s Down and 6MB/s Up.

Hi Quass1m,Welcome to Lenovo Community!Thank you for taking time posting your query.I understand that you are getting a slow WiFi performance on your new Lenovo IdeaPad Z50-70. There are lots of things to consider on a wireless connection.1. Router supports wireless B G N2. Software and Drivers for the wireless adapter3. Settings on the wireless adapter4. Distance5. Electromagnetic Interference* you need to check the router if it supports all the 802.11 IEEE* if the router transmits on a 2.5 GHz or 5 GHz frequency^ is the driver and software for your wireless adapter up to date- most recent software and drivers for your wireless adapter ishttp://support.lenovo.com/za/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-z-series-laptops/lenovo-z50-70/... : to download the driver, for windows 7^ wireless adapter settings> since you are testing it on a 0.5m from the router the roaming sensitivity is Low that needs to be checkI can suggest that you can update the drivers and software first of your wireless adapter and try and run a speed testLink : http://www.speedtest.net/Please try this and let me know if this works for you. Thanks

Answer:Conservation Mode

hi NikhilBartakke,

In Conservation Mode, the battery charge level is limitted to 55%-60% of its full capacity. This can reduce the battery degradation and extend the battery lifespan. When the AC adapter is still connected and the battery reaches its charge limit, you will see a "Plugged-in not charging" message when you hover on the battery icon in the notification area  --the power then gets routed to the AC adapter.

If you'll be using the machine for gaming or run any graphics intensive apps that requires you to be plugged-in all the time, I would recommend you enable conservation mode. In this way, you can prolong the battery life and you won't need to go to the whole cycle of recharging the battery everyday.

hi behrouz,

Thanks for Posting!

This mode controls the Firmware that controls the battery,
And yes it stops the charging when it reaches 60% to prevent over charging and lessen charge and discharge rate.
This is most suggested for system that is always Plugged in to the Ac adapter,

Answer:ideapad z580 wifi not working properly with windows 8

hi yashikabajaj08,

Welcome to the Forums.

You're issue might be similar to this thread.

If you have gotten the problem after updating the wireless driver either from the Intel website or windows update, try to  rollback the driver from the previous version or perform a System Restore to undo the changes that were made.

If the above doesn't apply to you, can you provide the wireless driver of your wifi module and try to boot into Safe Mode with Networking to isolate if there's a third party security software that might be blocking your connection.

Let me know your findings,

Hi,     I bought z510, can you please explain me about the conservation mode.  And it iscoming with in built battery , so is there anyway to stop charging battery while plugged in the charger.  Thanks

Answer:Usage of conservation Mode

hi Pratheesh,

Your query might bs similar to this thread.

When the AC adapter is still connected and the battery reaches its charge limit, you will see a "Plugged-in not charging" message when you hover on the battery icon in the notification area  --the power then gets routed to the AC adapter.

In some cases where the charge level is 100%, which is above the conservation mode limit (55-60%), you will need to undergo one discharge cycle (use the battery until the machine goes to sleep) and enable conservation mode to trigger the battery charge level to 55-60%.

Hi, I've just got my lenovo yoga 3 14 about a week ago. This is my first lenovo device  and i am reallly amazed with one of lenovo charging feature which is the conservation mode because it says that it could extend our battery lifespan. After i read some posts in this lenovo forum, i understand what conservation charging mode really is.But i still have a question in mind. after the battery goes under 7%, i usually plug the AC and charge my laptop in conservation mode and then keep using it while it plugged. I keep the adapter plugged even it has reached 60% of charging which is the upper limit of conservation mode After i finished using my laptop, of course i will shut it down and unplug the charger. The next day, i'll be using my laptop until it drain to 7% again then doing it all over again. My question is, if i keep doing this, my laptop will never be fully charged (100%). Is it okay for the health of my battery?Did i do something wrong? any better suggestion? I really appreciate your opinion because i do care about my battery life and hope i can keep this one healthy as long as i could. ThankyouRegards.

Hi, For some time now my mousepad/touchpad on my Lenovo P500 IdeaPad has not been working properly. The "right click" and "left click" functions does not work, only the tap on the left side works. I can't scroll with it, I can't right click with it and sometimes the I can't even left tap. I have to use my external mouse in order to be able to right, left click, scroll, etc. Is this a hardware or software issue? I have roll back the software of my touchpad/mousepad and re-install the latest version. I downloaded the latest version from the Lenovo website and after I open it to install it opens a window with a message that says: "No appropiate driver to install". I am assuming that it means I have already the latest version of the driver installed. Any ideas on what is going on?

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad P500 touchpad/mousepad not working properly.

hi chemist87,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

From your observation and the troubleshooting steps that you have done, it may look like the touchpad have gotten defective. If the touchpad's right or left clicker still doesn't respond if you uninstall the touchpad driver or boot in Safe Mode (Windows will use a generic touchpad driver), then you will need to contact Lenovo for service as this is definitely a touchpad malfunction.

Is there an easier way to set Conservation Mode, rather than running Energy Manager and digging deep down into the settings? Does it have command line arguments, for example?

Hi there,  I have a ideapad Z510 with win 8.1 I enable conservation mode in the Energy manager. Everything is working ok, the battery stays at 60% until I turn off the pc.When I reboot, most of the time Conservation mode is disabled and the battery is charging to 100% again. Anybody else experiencing this? Thank you,

Answer:Conservation mode disabled automatically?

I think someone reported it too, but for Y500. It works fine on my Y580 though.

Hi! I just upgraded the U310 to Win10. The Battery Conservation mode was ON before the upgrade. After the upgrade it is still on. I installed the Lenovo Settings tool and tried to switched it off. After reboot all the options for Conservation have disappeared and it still won't charge above 59%. Please help, I'm stuck. WBR,Alex?

Hi Lenovo forum moderators, I have recently bought a laptop G50-80 with O/S WIn10. I enable conservation mode via program "Lenovo Settings". When I turn on the laptop after turning off it and unplugging power cable, I find conservatoin mode is disabled. I have to enable it manually every time. I have also tried to enable it by clicking the battery icon at the bottom task bar, But situation is the same. Please help give me some methods how to enable conservation mode automatically in every bootup. Reviewed other posts about conservaiotn mode, Energy Manager was usually mentioned. But, my laptop does not have this program. Is Energy Manager replaced by Lenovo Settings in Win10?

My device: Lenovo 2013 IdeaPad Z400 Touch 20220OS: Windows 10Issue: Battery indicates "Plugged in and not charging"; it is at 0%; if I unplug the charger, it immediately shuts off. History:- I had a similar problem 3 months ago. After no issues for 4 years, my battery suddenly wouldn't charge higher than 50%, at which point it would indicate "Plugged in and not charging." I downloaded Lenovo Energy Management and changed the settings to "Optimal battery life". This fixed the problem.- I have since kept my battery in "Optimal battery health" mode, and I rarely used my laptop unplugged. The program says my battery health is "good"- Yesterday, I used my laptop unplugged, and it died without its usual warning. I plugged it in, left it for awhile, turned it on, and the battery had not charged at all, which has never happened before.  Fix attempts:- Went to Lenovo Energy Management and put it in "Optimal battery life", restarted computer; nothing.- Downloaded Lenovo Settings, my computer was NOT in conservation mode.- Tried to run the battery firmware update as suggested by Lenovo in this forum. I downloaded it, launched it, and it has not moved past the first step ("Welcome to the Lenovo Battery Firmware Update ToolNow configuring the program..."). The top corner indicates v00.65, even though I downloaded Version 1. I waited for hours, then exited, reinstalled the program, and the same issue is occuring. Again, it has been hours and it still says... Read more
