IdeaPad 710S Plus-13IKB Fingerprint Sensor Driver Fails to Load.

Question: IdeaPad 710S Plus-13IKB Fingerprint Sensor Driver Fails to Load.

As stated in the subject, when I got my new laptop and went through all the updates and finally returned to it, it had caused my fingerprint sensor to no longer work. When inspected through Device Manager, it throws Error Code 31: it states that the driver is up-to-date but Windows has failed to load the driver properly. With either restarting, removing and updating drivers, or reinstalling windows, I have failed to develop a manner of fixing this. Any help would be lovely. Thanks in advance!

Preferred Solution: IdeaPad 710S Plus-13IKB Fingerprint Sensor Driver Fails to Load.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I got new Ideapad 710S-13IKB and trying to run Ubuntu on it. Unfortunatly Ubuntu not finds SSD disc and can't install itself when I run it from USB storage. I found that Lenovo has released BIOS that supports Linux. There some BIOS releases in Lenovo site:My current BIOS version is 3HCN14WW. According to logic it might be newer sine 14>13 and I afraid to update bios from site. How to know exactly which bios version is newer? Besides that there is "Linux only" BIOS. I need dualboot Win10/Linux. Will "Linux Only" allow me do this? How to get Linux on this machine?

Hi, I've read about some issue with yoga 710 fan noise that was recently fixed with a BIOS update. Is there an update for ideapad 710s-13IKB on the way? The unofficial third-party fan controller software doesn't work, perhaps because this laptop has two fans. Just installing some software for example causes the i5-7200u CPU to overclock to over 3GHz  which seems unnecessary. Limiting the CPU max clock to 70% from power management settings helps but is an ugly fix because it's a constant limit. When the temperature is +40C the left side fan stays on.... +39 and below the fan seems to shut down, but doesn't happen unless I let the computer idle for a long time. The fan control seems to jump every 10 degrees. +70C and above is the highest level. Because of the over-eager turbo clock the laptop can reach +70C very quickly and go into full fan power when doing low-intensity tasks. It does this every time I power on, and it takes a minute to lower the clock and fans down to reasonable levels. I noticed the fan issue straight away when I installed the W10 anniversary update. CPU/fan issue could be linked to high hard drive activity also. Also, the Lenovo Battery Gauge doesn't appear no matter how many times I try to enable it. It just doesn't want to show up on the task bar. Is it a seperate issue or are these two related?

Answer:Ideapad 710s plus 13-ISK Cant use fingerprint to login (No windows hello as well)

Hello Xia0yi1990Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.Try to download the Fingerprint and Chipset drivers for the unit from the support page.

Make sure to reboot after an update on the unit. Also, try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)1. Turn the unit off2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter5. Turn the unit on as normal
Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.==================================================================================Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!

I set up my brand new W700 with the fingerprint software and all my prints and it worked beautifully.  Then 2 days later my Lenovo external keyboard with fingerprint sensor arrived, I connected it and it couldn't find that sensor with the lid closed on my W700.  I did the updates and installed that Keyboards driver and it eventually worked.  Then I disconnected from my docking station, took the laptop on the road and it told me, the W700 integral fingerprint sensor could not be found. Lenovo support was rather unhelpful, telling me it was my "software" issue.  Their eventual suggestion was a total re-install, which I did because according to them, they don't support Windows XP Service Pack 3.  So, after the rebuild and re-install, I had the internal fingerprint sensor working, and when I re-docked it, the external sensor worked.  I have subsequently undocked the machine and I am back to where I started with a brand new machine that can not find it's internal fingerprint sensor at logon or when I go to ThinkVantage, yet it did ask for a fingerprint swipe for my email password and it accepted it! I know it's there, it's not damaged and I know it works, but Lenovo says it's a software issue, not a hardware one, yet the only hardware I have is theirs and their software drivers!  Any suggestions?

Answer:W700 Fingerprint Sensor Not found after External Keyboard w/Fingerprint sensor is connected

What is the FRU number on the external keyboard w/ FPR you purchased?  I can lookup the FPR vendor from it.
I suspect that the internal FPR and the external FPR are two different vendors requiring two different drivers that are not compatible.

Hello to you all,

I have a superb enigm for you guys. If you are curious, here it is....

I just bougt a portege Toshiba Portege Z30t-A-126 PT24CE -01400HFR
Nice machine but SSD is too small so I changed the original 256 SSD to put a 512.

Reinstalled Win7 completely without any pb.

Just one pb actually : the fingerprint sofware is not working.
When I Iaunch it, it fails and says "impossible to connect with the sensor".

In french " reconnaissance d'empreinte
impossible de connecter le capteur"

But when I check the computor's peripheral manager it says that everything is up and running, the Validity Sensors (WBF) (PID=0010) works fine and the latest driver is installed.
(I downloaded the driver form the toshiba support website. The driver's name is fp-sw-20140115084521.zip)

So ?? What's going wrong ??

I spent hours to look on the web and tried everything I could. Reinstalled one thousand time the drivers, the software, tried other drivers... But there is no way I can fix this.
That is really annoying...

Can somebody help me please ? Do you have a genius Idea ? I'm stuck...

Thanx in advance. :-)

Answer:Re: Portege Z30: Fingerprint software not working, connection with sensor fails

Hi

This fingerprint issue has been already described in another thread.
http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=81261

You should be able to solve the issue installing the chipset driver.
Another user said, that an installation of Proset Ethernet drivers/software was necessary to get the issue solved. But to be honest I don?t think that missing Proset Utility would cause the issue?

However, check it out.

Feedback would be appreciated

Hi community, I've got Lenovo 710S Plus recently. I read about erratic fan control and I don't know if the problem has been solved, that's it? Unless fixed, I found and issue about BIOS version, explain it: BIOS v2.52 release date: 2017-6-22BIOS v2.03 release date: 2017-6-29 That's erratic versioning name? What's the latest?~~~ [Developers only]Now, about fan control issue, I think is provocated by bad BIOS configuration because this can be fixed overriding registers in charge of fan speed and processor temperature management. Somebody has source code in order to fix it? Thanks and forgive my English level.

I just bought my 710S plus-13IKB ideapad laptop four days ago and have been facing some freezing issues while watching youtube but it's usually fine once I refresh the browser or close Chrome entirely so I didnt mind them. But just now (like 30 mins ago) it froze and nothing I click or press could work and the screen hasn't unfreeze since then. Im not good with tech stuff so I tried ctrl+alr+del and the novo bios button but both didnt work. Also to be frank, opening applications like folders etc tends to lag a little (or being a bit slow). Not sure if this is a Lenovo issue or Windows 10 issue. Please kindly advise what action I should take. It's really disappointing to see a new laptop being like this. ):

Hi Everyone, Hello Lenovo, I bought this laptop recently, and I was satisfied so far until i decided to play a game. I bought this one because it has a discrete graphics for a lightweight gaming. But after about 10 mins of playing any kind of 3D game (Dota, CSGO, CoH, even Telltale games) fps drops start to occur - graphics settings in the game doesnt matter (low vs high - hd vs fhd .. still the same shuttering, fps droping). After some googling and testing via gpuz i discovered that there is thermal cap at 61-62C and if the card reaches this temp, it will start downclocking - After 10 mins of playing, GPU clocked itself at somewhere around 650Mhz (default clocks are around 950MHz), reason of throttle: thermal - via gpuZ. I tried using a cooling pad, but it doesnt seem to help much. Via Nvidia Inspector: there is a thermal limit set to 61C, but u cannot modify this setting, then in the other two states of a card (i think those are the states, that are triggered by the thermal limit) there are clocks set to 405MHz - neither these are modifiable, so i think, that after some more gpu usage, it would continue dropping to 405MHz.   I have tried:I have installed the newest nvidia drivers. There is no problem with power management settings (been set to max via windows power plan manager).I have also tried every power management settings in nvidia control panel (max power, adaptive etc,) - no positive results. I dont even think i got a defecti... History: I had to have my X60 Tablet PC serviced recently due to a failed hard drive. When the service was completed and the unit returned I had a hard drive with no operating system.  When trying to use my recover disk that failed as well (that in itself is a different story). I had a licensed version of Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate still in the "shrink wrap" so I used that and installed a clean version of the operating system. I have everything working and functioning except for the Fingerprint sensor.   1.  There is no specific driver from Lenovo for this device (I have checked). I have downloaded the UPEK drivers directly (Manufacturer of said device) but they failed to work as well (www.upek.com). 2.  When searching through the Internet I find many references to the fact that the only way to get the sensor to work is to use the restore disks which were provided. However, as I stated above, that doesn't work for me as well. It seems that this has been a problem for a good period of time. 3.  Last, I have no desire to use the "image" provided by lenovo because the boot time was nearly 15-20 minutes. When I installed a clean version of the OS with the minimum Lenovo drivers the boot time was under 2 minutes. So my question to the forum??? 1.  Is there any solution or are the posts on the various websites correct in that the only way to get this device to work is by using the original image from Lenovo?&nbs... Answer:X60 Fingerprint Sensor Driver (Biometric) / Vista SP1

I have discovered what has happened. 1.  With a clean install with Windows Vista Ultimate it recognizes the Biometric Sensor as a USB device and installs a driver for it and even shows that it is accepted in the Device Manager. There are also no hardware failures in the event viewer as well. 2.  It was strange but I by chance happen to try the biometric sensor. Windows reported the device had failed and then began installing a new driver (The correct one this time). After 30 seconds it found the driver installed it and then the device functioned just fine. 3.  I did have to uncheck the box that allows Windows to shutdown the device to save power in the Device manager section because on boot up it kept failing to start because of my power settings. Amazing.  I hope nobody else ever has a problem like this....

Today, I updated my Realtek Audio Driver to version 6.0.1.7831 (dated 7/21/2016). After installation, I immediately realized that the taskbar icon changed from Dolby to Realtek default icon:? -> ? Next, I went to Programs and Features and found out that "Dolby Audio X2 Windows APP" disappeared from the list. Originally, both of these Dolby programs came with the laptop:? After the update, I was only left with this:? The impact of this is that I can no longer toggle the different sound features provided by the Dolby App. I contacted Lenovo via online chat support but the personnel insists Dolby is not a supported program by Lenovo without giving me a valid solution or answer. Did Lenovo omit Dolby App in the latest Audio Driver by mistake? Or did Lenovo intentionally removed it due to the vulnerability explained here: "Dolby Audio X2 (DAX2) privilege escalation" https://support.lenovo.com/sg/en/product_security/len_4884#/IdeaPad. If anybody is facing the same issue / has any solutions / answers, kindly leave a comment below. I have just used system update to install a bunch of updates including one for the "XP/V32" fingerprint sensor software.  After the install the sensor does not work and the finger print software reportes that it "Cannot communicate with the finger print sensor.  Please confirm the sensor is working".  The sensor driver (AuthenTec Inc. AES2810) in the Device Manager reports that it is not working and states that "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. As often happens I have solved my own problem.  The solution (in Vista SP-1 anyway) is to both uninstall the Lenovo Fingerprint Software using the Contorl Panel applet "Programs and Features" and delete the driver using the Control Panel applet "System" by selecting "Device Manager" in the top left corner, locating Personal Identification Devices, right clicking on the "AuthenTec AES2810" driver, selecting the Device tab and selecting Unistall.  Reboot then download and run "7wf114ww fingerprint software" which is version 3.2.0.275 from http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-70598.  Run it and follow the instructions.  This fixed it for me.

Hi all, I've spent far too long trying to solve this by myself, and need to reach out to someone who might have resolved this issue. (p961b_fprx64_582ww) The driver installed smoothly as well as opening the software, but when I tried to enroll, and this message, "Cannot find fingerprint sensor device", pops up. It did the same thing when tried clicking on the tutorial. I've looked into the setting, but there's no option of enabling or disabling the sensor. The "Bio service" in Device manager is enable and working properly. So I'm just lost... Any hint/help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Hi, My new Ideapad 510S is not turning on. I have tried everything, however it just don't start. The worst is that I am in Mozambique on a business trip and there is no LENOVO official agents around. How can I get help? Thanks

Answer:Ideapad 510S 13IKB - I can't turn it on!

Hi Mperal ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You can follow the initial power check out guideline (page 21-22) from the hardware manual initially.
Checking probable point of failure such as adapter functionality we hope that a spare one would charge up the battery while the laptop is turned off. Battery indicators should indicate change in status after 1-2 hours being plugged in.

Here is the official service center locator but you may consult with other repair center to verify the cause until you can get back to your location where your inwarranty service would be available.

Update us how things go.

Regards

My windows vista home premium 64 bit sp2 4gb ram Medion system has stopped my device driver for my dvd-rom (HL-DT-ST DVD Ram GH22NS40) from working properly (having previously working well for 2years). This all happended after I connected a new iHBS212 bluray drive (which is havng the same issue & I have also disconnected this and still my old drive wont work).I now get an error code 39 message and a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark. I have updated the motherboard bios and windows vista OS and have tried unistalling and reinstallinmg the driver as well as searching for a solution online (I cannot access the drivers or firmware for either device from the liteon website as it gives the following error message "Database error: cannot connect to Database Can't connect to MySQL server on '202.145.180.11' (4)MySQL Error Session halted."
If you are able to obtain the drivers and firmware for these drives and eith post a link or send me the files to try and resolve this that would be great or if you can offer any other advice - please get in touch. **NB** I have seen a simmilar issue for toshiba drives and see that the solutions suggested involve updating the drivers - hence the request.- Kind Regards - Dave

Hello, I recently bought an Ideapad 510s-13IKB with i7-7500u, intel hd 620, ssd 256GB and 8GB of DDR4 RAM and i wanted to know if i could exchange that one stick of RAM with 16GB DDR4 RAM ? I am aware that there is only one slot available. Is SSD also upgradable to let's say 512GB of SSD ? And also if it is possible to do it, what is a recommended way to do it ? Can i do it myself or is it better to give it to a professional? Thanks in advance. Milos Jovanovic

Is there any way to estimate sRGB coverage other than waiting for online reviewers? Can I safely assume that it is going to provide as vivid colors as I previously experienced in Y580?

Hi - the current version of the ideapad 710s BIOS does not allow changing of the SATA/drive mode from RAID to AHCI. As a result, it is pretty much impossible to install Linux onto these systems. I've tried multiple combinations of things - completely wiped the drive, disabled UEFI, Secure Boot and enabled Legacy mode, etc - and nothing works.  The currently locked SATA mode basically prevents Linux from even seeing the SSD.  I've tried the latest versions of Ubuntu and Gentoo - both with the same result. Is there any reason why this setting is not exposed?  Are there any plans to expose it?

Less than a month ago I bought a brand new Lenovo Ideapad 710s, today it suddenly turned off even though it's battery was at 64%. I then plugged in the charger and tried turning it on - nothing happened. Then I held down the power button at it turned on. Only to turn off again after about 15 minutes. Now, it won't turn on at all.If I hold down the power button, the light behind the keyboard blinks, but the screen stays black. When I plug in the charger, the light that shows it is charging is on, so the charger is working.I just can't turn on my computer at all. I don't know if this information is needed, but I have used it almost every day, around 6 hours every day I've used it (I'm using it for school only). The only things installed on the computer was Office 365 and a driver so that I could use my printer.Any idea how to get it working again?

Okay so I've had this computer less than 3 months and it's given me nothing but problems. Now it refuses to even turn on. The power LED turns on but the screen remains blank. This is an non removal battery type before anyone says remove the battery and use the adapter. I've drained the battery which has worked before but this time when I try to charge it the orange battery LED blinks three times. And still nothing on the screen. Any Lenovo stores are quite far away. Anyone knows what's going on?

I am trying to run games on my 710s with the i5 6260U and Intel Iris 540 graphics, with 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD.The nature of the video card in this laptop showed promise for casual playing of current titles at low settings, however early results were dissapointing. Upon installing Throttlestop and Intel XTU in order to undervolt the package and squeeze more performance, my surprise was high upon finding that the package consumed no more than 10W at very low temperatures with the fan barely spinning, all while running Doom 2016 at 720P Low settings at 20FPS.Changing power use settings in the Intel Graphics control panel and in the Windows power use utility raised the FPS to 30 and the power use to around 13-14W, but the temperatures barely reach 60C and the fans aren't even spinning at full blast, and actually turn on and off all the time while running the game. Eventually the power consumption stabilizes at 13W, and Throttlestop states that it's due to a TDP limit. Is there a way of increasing this limit in order to attain the full performance of the laptop?

I bought ideapad 710S after research and survey, but the performance of 710s is really disappointing. The computer has strange problem and unstable performance. After my first week, I sent it to the maintanence center. Lenovo maintenance center was nice enough to change the mainboard for me. However, after 3 weeks of using, the problems reoccured again. the computer has slow processing capability.  I use simple word program and my typing does not show on the screen simultanously, instead there is the waiting cycle icon keeps apperaing. Plus, there seem to be extreme heat release problem with lound fan noise. I returned to the maintenance center and after that 3 weeks, the shop replaced ROM and heat fan.
When I got home, I started working on the document and recognize heat problem is gone. However, the delay processing problem remains. I have a problem getting my work done with this 710S because everything delays. By everything I mean my typed sentence delays by more than 10 seconds, my access to internet website consumes more than 30 seconds, program opening takes almost 1 minute. I feel disappointed, frustrated and mad with the quality of ideapad. I was a fan of thinkpad and this wiped off and torn down my believe of lenovo brand.

I live in Toronto, Canada. I bought Lenovo Ideapad 710S (i5-6200 128GB SSD 8GB Ram) in August 2016. Used only 2 weeks, the laptop couldn't recognized the hard drive. It was sent to MIAD (local Lenovo certified repair center) and diagnosed as hard drive dysfunction. The technician told me since it is a "consumer" laptop (vs. business laptop such as ThinkPad), they don't have the part to repair/replace. I waited 4 weeks until the new hard drive arrive and the laptop was still not working. MIAD told me it was not hard drive problem and beyond their ability to repair. The laptop was later sent to Lenovo repair center (US).A week later I got a notice from Lenovo said the laptop had arrived but the part they need is in back order.5 weeks later still no sign of getting the problem fixed. Contacted Lenovo and get the same answer. Only compensate so far is extension of my warranty for 2 months. However, no compensation about the usability. For about 10 weeks, I have to use my old Pentium M Thinkpad. If I bought a new laptop, it might already arrived! Conclusion: Don't buy Lenovo "consumer" laptop (Ideapad, Yoga etc), at least in Canada.

Hello lenovo community.

I just got my new Lenovo Ideapad 710s-13sk yesterday.

I've used it for 2 days now, and it seems that the 2 finger scroll up and down triggers the 3 finger function from time to time?

So when i want to scroll, sometimes the task view shows up or everything minimizes depending on what direction i scroll of course.

Have anybody else experienced this and found a solution for it?

Best Regards,
Christian

Hi,  My Ideapad 710s which is only like 8 months old is currently with Lenovo for a warranty repair.  The comma key became loose and fell off the keyboard, the little clips on the back were broken so I was wasn't able to clip it back on.  I sent it to Lenovo under my 3 year warranty and now they are refusing to fix it under the warranty.  What can I do about this?  Why would anyone break their comma key on purpose? The rest of the laptop is in perfect condition so it is clear that I have not abused the laptop, every other key is absolutely fine.  Seeing that it was simply a matter of clipping a new key on, I asked Lenovo to just post me one out and I would do it myself. They refused, and made me send it in. I did this, and now they are going to try and charge me for the postage which I didn't want to pay for anyway because the repair was so minor!!!  This will be the last Lenovo product I ever buy if they are so petty and treat their customers so badly over such a small repair that any reasonable person can see is a manufacturing fault.  I am furious about this, and hopefully you guys can give some advice.  Thanks

Hi  I am thinking of purchasing a 13" Lenovo ideapad 710s ($1199 model) over a MacBook air. I have been using a macbook air for several years and recently thought of getting a new laptop. Lenovo's 710s seems to be quite good on paper (except the battery life), but I couldnt find any reviews online which can tell me if the laptop is as good as Lenovo projects it to be. If anyone has bought/used Lenovo 710s, can  you guys chime in and let me know if this laptop came on par with your expectations (esp. the battery life)? Thanks

hi. Here I leave you computer manual so you can compare, the battery is a consumable device that usually lasts depending on the use that will give the team being new can last an average of 3 hours, you should know that each load you do it is that you take away useful life. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Z-Base-de-conocimientos/Optimizando-el-tiempo-de-duraci%C3%B3n-de-la-ba... Manual service:https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_710S-13ISK_hmm_201603.pdf Regards.

Randomly I got the Blue Screen of Death error DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION and apparently this issue occurs because the iastor.sys driver, is not compatible with Windows 10. So I changed the storage controller from Intel Rapid Storage sata controller to Intel mobile express chipset sata controller which was the other driver already on my 3 week old laptop. However, after this the laptop would not boot! It just kept saying 'automatically attempting repairs'. I then went into the BIOS and changed the SATA from RAID to AHCI and then the laptop would boot. But now the driver is just 'Standard NVM Express Controller'. I tried to reinstall the intel rapid stroage sata controller driver but then the laptop would not boot in RAID or AHCI! So I had to do a system restore and now the laptop seems to be working on AHCI and it has a boot loop on RAID.  My question is, should I put the laptop back on RAID (original factory setting) and after the boot loop should I reset the laptop to install a fresh copy of Win10 from recovery? Or should I leave it as it is now on AHCI with Microsoft Standard NVM Express Controller driver? Are there any disadvantages? My SSD is a Samsung PM961 (samsung mzvlw512hmjp) I need some help quickly before my 30 days returns period runs out. I really like the laptop but are there any problems with it?

Hello there!I'm planing to buy a new notebook, and found the 710s-13ISK (80SW003NGE) interesting. There are 5 different configurations of it, with different CPUs and memory amount. The cheapest one is the only one i could afford, and it has the weakest CPU i3-6100U, which is no issue at all, but this one has only 4GB of DDR3L. I'd still like to buy this one, but only if I'm able to upgrade the memory some day to 8GB, in case the 4GB are not enough for my usage scenarios. Unfortunately i cannot find any specific information, whether the mainboard has a RAM slot (so the 4GB could be replaced by bigger 8GB), or the memory is soldered directly on the mainboard (means not replaceable). Does anyone have this particular notebook, and could give me some information about this one? Many, many thanks in advance!

Question: Fingerprint sensor

I have just got a T500 model 2055-CTO I am running XP SP3 due to company policies. My problem is when I try to register a fingerprint using the ThinkVangate Fingerprint software. The software complains and says that it cannot find my fingerprint sensor. Everything looks okay in the device manager. I have updated my system using the ThinkVantage System Update and all have been updated except for the "Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver for Windows XP/V32" Which keeps poping up when I run the System Update tool. Any Idea why: 1. The finger print sensor cannot be found. 2. Why the Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver keeps poping up. Thank for any help you can provide. /Thor

Answer:[SOLVED] Windows USB Driver Fails to Load

Hi u01545n and welcome to TSF !

Make sure you have SP2 installed. You can find out by going to start => run and typing winver or by going to your system properties (windows key + pause/break key). It's also advised you go to Windows update and make all latest critical updates.

Yesterday, I had an important windows update: " Advance micro devices Inc. Driver update for AMD SMBus." The update failed to load 4 different times! So I went to device manager, and in the list it had no such devise. It did list "Universal serial bus controllers". So I do not think it is the same.

Two things strike me as not being right. 1. Why would an AMD driver update be listed as a critical Windows update? 2. On update history, every update that was ever done on this computer has a KB******* I.D. number after it being that it was either successful or failed. The download attempted was listed as Failed, but no KB number after it. I do have the windows update icon in the system tray.

I do know that the wrong people are getting very experienced at attacking computer systems! My concern definitely raises a couple of red flags here.

Could someone please comment as to what may be happening?

Hello,

Thanks for your help in advance.

Problem: I have Windows 10 on a Shuttle Sz77R5. When I restart it, it fails to get back into windows. BSOD while booting windows. I see the logo and rotating circles, then it goes into BSOD with frowny face :-( and after several attempts it still does not work. Tools to fix it to make it bootable do not work. I have to revert to a system image and try another fix and pray that it will get back into windows. I am restoring an image right now and so I cannot post sysinfo utility information. I am pretty experienced but not an expert and I've tried many things and ruled out many things. I think I am close to the source of the problem but need advice (I think it is drivers, see below). At one point I was able to get into safe mode even though I could not get into regular mode, then eventually I can't even get into safe mode.

The working image that I cannot safely restart has all the latest 64-bit drivers from Shuttle's website and any that Windows wanted to install newer than those. Leading up to the problem, I had great difficulty upgrading to 1507 and Anniversary Update. Eventually, I did an in-place upgrade and it successfully installed and even was able to reboot (after only one failure before loading windows each time). Eventually, rebooting messes it up so much that I cannot get back into windows despite trying startup repair, restore points, or even third party macrium fix boot issues. Now I'm back to my pre-a... I checked it simultaneously with my phone and old laptop and they both have around 40mb/sec.
