Acer Aspire R7 touchscreen stopped working Windows...

Question: Acer Aspire R7 touchscreen stopped working Windows...

This is probably in the wrong location. I could not find a Laptop area for R7 or just a general Laptop.Anyway. I am running Windows 10, never had a problem with the touch screen until recently. The "Basic Information" screen says I have no pen or touch input is available.....not true. this is a touch screen. I've used it consistantly, and without problems. I don't know what to try to fix the issue. I read somewhere that it might be a "power management setting" I tried to see if it was, I opened the Properties on each of my 3 "HID-compliant vendor-defined device" to see if there was a power management option. One did have it, but it was greyed out and unchecked. Can change anything there. I tried removing all the "HID-compliant vendor-defined device" and they reinstalled on startup, but no touchscreen.I'm wondering if the latest Windows update wiped the touchscreen out!!! Please can someone help? I'm an artist, and using the touchscreen is very important to me.-Karen

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

If you recovered your system and reloaded Windows, that would rule out a software problem. I would suggest contacting Acer service in your region, to inquire about setting up repair.

Hi Folks,  I have run into an issue with my Acer laptop which is leaving me really frusrated. For some reason one morning my touch screen stopped working. There has been no damage to my screen at all.  I have concted Acer Technical Support which in usual fashion were of completely NO help. Before I got in touch with Acer Technical Support I tried: Refreshing the HID Monitor drivers Removing/Reinstalling the HID Monitor driversBoth of these were unsucessful, according to Device Manager, the HID monitor is working just fine. Upon calling Acer Technical Support their suggestion was to reinstall Windows because the tech though that it was an software issue.  I just reinstalled Windows are still have the same issue. Device Manager shows that the hardware is fine and functional from a driver standpoint.  I've also tied ensuring that the cable behind the monitor is in tact as in this post: http://community.acer.com/t5/Notebooks-Netbooks/Acer-Aspire-M5-481PT-touch-screen-stopped-working/td... Thus far nothing has worked. Are there any other suggestions which can be helpful here?

Answer:Aspire V5-552P touchscreen stopped working

You can try the following steps:Configure the touch display:1. Go to Windows Start screen and type Tablet PC Settings.2. In the Search charm that comes up, go to "Tablet PC Settings".3. On the "Display" tab of Tablet PC Settings, click "Setup".4. Follow on-screen instructions to identify your screen as touch screen.5. Tap the screen to check if it responds. If not, follow the steps in the section below. Check if the Touch Screen device is detected:1. Press the Windows + X keys.2. Select System from the menu that appears.3. Locate "Pen and Touch" and make sure that it says "Full Windows Touch Support".4. If there is a message under "Pen and Touch" saying that the touch screen is not available, there might be some hardware issue. In this case, it is recommended to visit nearest Acer service center. To do this, the following link can be useful:http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/service-contact Hope this will help you.

HI!     So, my Touchscreen just up and stopped working on my 6mo old Acer Aspire ZE-605 (running on Windows 8.1). Since then I have talked to 4 or 5 people in Acer support. They have told me to do everything from cleaning the screen to checking, uninstalling & reinstalling the HID drivers to refreshing my computer - all of which I have done to no avail.     I think I have narrowed it down to having something to do with the driver... since my "HID-compliant touchscreen" driver is not present under the HID options. I went into my program files and tried to run a repair on my HID monitor only to get an error that the " The feature you are trying to use is on a network that is unavailable" and that it "cannot find the installation package for HIDMonitor_V1.1.5.msi". What can I do to either find and download a new (and safe) touchscreen driver OR would i just need a HIDMonitor_V1.1.5.msi installation package?? Thanks in advance

I have read that HP also has this problem, but I have only found mixed results of success. it happened sometime after March 22nd 2015. I believe an update removed the "HID-compliant touch screen" device from device manager, it has just disappeared entirely, i have tried working with usb generic device's drivers, its not listed in there, i have tried enabling the service for HID compliant device, no luck. I have tried going to acer's website for the driver for that model, it is not there. its like they stopped supporting it. help guys, i'm stuck. i need either that driver, a third-party touchscreen software, or something short of restoring it to earlier state.

Answer:Acer touchscreen has stopped working after update

Open Device Manager and uninstall current monitor driver then reconnect your monitor to install Microsoft monitor generic driver.

My touchpad suddenly stopped working and I don't know what to do about it. I've beening looking around the web for tips and tricks but to avail. I tried Fn+F7 and various similar combinatins but they don't work. I also tried going into my mouse settings to see if it was disabled. It was enabled and said it was working just fine. I then decided to do a MBAM scan because I thought it could be a virus that is casuing the problem and no threats were detected. I then read that pressing F2 during start-up and enabling the touchpad through there is an option. I tried that and the option to enable touchpad wasn't on my laptop. Finally, I read that going back into windows 8 and doing some stuff with the BIOs could help, but this is a used laptop and apparnetly used to operate Windows 8 (can't confirm though) before I got it but I don't think I can change it back. The only temporary solution I have is using an extenral USB mouse, but I want to use my touchpad as well. Help, what do I do? Thanks in advance!

I have tried all of the solutions suggested in other posts and have not had any luck. I am not even seeing HID options under device manager. The touchscreen just stopped working all of the sudden and this did not coincide with any updates or changes to the computer. I am furious about this as I rely heavily on this touchscreen for some of my school projects. I called Acer tech support and was rerouted to their useless third party support who guaranteed they knew what was wrong and how to fix it, but would only tell me if I gave them $99. What a complete scam. I can't believe Acer doesn't stand behind their products and offer free phone support or online chat. I will certainly never be buying another Acer product, but in the mean time if anyone knows how to fix this problem without charging me $100 I will be forever grateful.

Hello, I have recently purchased a notebook Acer Aspire V5-472PG. It comes with a touchscreen. In the beginning my touchscreen was working perfecly. But then something happened - and it just stopped suddenly. I thought that this is because my Windows 8 recently updated itself. I started to search for Touchscreen drivers and I couldn't find. Also restarts didn't help and switching off and on HID device. So i decided to restore the PC to the initial condition. The touchscreen started working again!! I switched off all the updates for Windows 8. But recently for some reason it instaled some updates by itself, and after some time the touchscreen stopped working again... Please help me solve this!!! Many thanks in advance,Anastasia

Answer:Acer Aspire V5-472PG Touchscreen not working

Hi Anastasia, you can roll back drivers to an old version:on device manager, double click the device you want to roll back, on the next window click on Drivers taba nd then click on roll back. check if this fix your issue. you can block windows to update hardware drivers and download just OS updates:http://www.wikihow.com/Change-Device-Installation-Settings-in-Windows-8

I am looking for assistance in getting my computer touchscreen to work without having to pay to ship my system in for warranty work.  The computer is in warranty period, bought from HSN and outside of the return period, used a handful of times and touchscreen worked for the first few times used.  I paid for extended warranty via HSN warranty service, yet this company (king of poor warranty service) wants me to pay to ship my system to Texas for warranty work.  I asked if there is a local repair tech that I could carry to,but they don't even offer that anymore (used to be able to take ACER products to the Geek Squad for warranty work).  The first time I called the service center, I was told to refresh my computer.  I followed this and the touchscreen worked again for another day.  The next day I was back on the phone with the service center, when I was instructed to refresh AGAIN.  It didn't work this time so they asked me to pay to ship my computer to Texas.  I was unable to do so during the period the ticket was open do to several unexpected hospitalizations.  Yesterday, I began the tedious process of reinstalling everything that had been deleted during the second refresh.  The touchscreen was still not fonctioning, but I had 55 windows updates to install so thought I would try the updates to see if they could possibly fix this issue.  Somewhere around update 46 of 55, my touchscreen started working again. ... gypsyrain,

Sorry to hear you are having problems with the touch screen. I'd like to give you some kudos for the amount of troubleshooting that you've done so far, nice job. From your description, it sounds to me like it's a Windows update that is causing the issue to occur, a deduction that you've already made I'm sure.

that being said, the only real answer I can give is figure out exactly which update is causing the issue and don't install it. The simplest way to do that is only install and couple updates at a time and restart the computer to test those installed updates for touch screen functionality. I realize that it will be a little time consuming, but I think it's the best method to take in the long run.

hello, ive had an Acer Aspire L320 for quite a while now,

ive had it upgraded by a computer shop to make faster with some more ram and brought up the hard drive space to 320Gb and it was running fine till yesterday.

it has been running 24/7 for a while with maybe a restart every 2 months or so, and had no problems with it and now i plugged it in (after a LAN party needing space) and it wont even turn on. it turns on the fans when i plug it in and when it press the power button it doesn't respond and continues to run the fan.

I have alot of experience building computers, but this is my absolute worst nightmare because its so cramped inside. can someone direct me to what i should to to fix it or what to check and/ or replace

I just recently encountered a problem with my Acer Aspire E3-112 notebook keyboard that I had been able to fix and would like to share the solution with anyone who may encounter the same problem. I had used a USB flash drive to copy some files without any issues. Shortly afterwards, I noticed that the 8 key on the keyboard had stopped responding, but all other keys worked as normal. I had pressed Fn-F11 (NumLk) and the 8 key started working again. Pressing Fn-F11 again disabled the NumLk mode, and the 8 key also stopped working again. I tried rebooting the notebook, shutting down and powering back up, reinstalling keyboard driver, etc, but nothing worked. To rule out Windows OS related settings, I rebooted into BIOS, and noticed that the 8 key still didn't work when I tried to change the time, but the other number keys worked fine. The solution that finally solved the problem was to shut down the notebook, and then using a paper clip, push it into the Batery reset pinhole on the bottom of the notebook for four seconds. Upon normal powerup, the 8 key started working again. If your notebook has a removable battery, then removing and reinstalling the battery might have the same effect.

Hello guys. I ask for help in forums very rarely. Usually I search and research and try and solve problems my self. But this one just killed my hopes... As title says I can't get Win 8 to work with my Acer Aspires Z5771 (all-in-one) touch screen. Everything works fine except screen responding to a finger touch. On Windows 7 all worked perfectly well, as soon as I upgraded to Win 8 screen decided to disable it self. I have done everything I can think of... I have put different HDD with Win7 in and touch screen started to work again, than went back to Win 8 and same happened. I have went through every single setting, but didn't get any luck, I tried searching for touch screen drivers for this model but didn't find any, than downloaded different model touch screen all-in-ones drivers - that didn't help either. I have spent couple days googling for this issue but to no avail. Please help me, throw everything you have got at me.

Today as I turned on my Aspire V3 laptop I found the system running extremely slow. Opening task manager I found RAM and Harddrive was almost running at 100%, then I checked it was McAfee scan that came with Pre-installation that is taking up all the resources. After about 10 minutes of running like this I decided to restart my computer. However after restart many system functions are no longer working. I can no longer access task manager. either CTRL+ALT+DEL or win-r wont bring it up. Tried MSCONFIG and again it wont start after I enter the keys. System restore similarly won't start after I click the bottons. There is no internet, clicking on device manager bottons won't bring up anything, driver update bottons similarly won't bring any response,  even reset to factory default botton won't work-was able to access the menu but when clicking on bottons nothing starts. - it seems as if the whole operating system is broke.  Since this McAfee program came with the Acer laptop (it literarily says McAfee Internet security -Acer on the program menu) was wondering if anyone from Acer knows about this issue and knows how to fix it. Answer:Acer aspire V3 laptop stopped working after McAfee...

Sounds like the reboot came up in safe mode. Try a shutdown, restart to see if it clears up. Rebooting while in something as intensive as a virus scan / repair is seldom safe. You should always let it continue until it's finished, even if inconvenient.

"I already checked the sound driver, no question marks appeared"... Do you mean no exclamation points like this (!)? If you can hear normal sound from the headset the sound driver is okay. This could be caused by a keyboard setting. Make sure the sound is all the way up and that it is not muted

This seems to happen whenever a Windows update goes out, and I have to wait for Lenovo to provide firmware/bios/driver updates that fix the problem.  I have to say that this recurring bad experience will weigh heavily into my next purchasing decision.  I paid a lot extra for a touchscreen that breaks with every Windows update, and the wait for a fix is often quite long. What is the ETA for this next round of fixes from Lenovo?

Have you tried loading the latest drivers from Acer's website?  Does everything look ok in Device Manager (No red X's or exclamation marks)? It could just be a hardware problem with the touchscreen and may need repair.

My Aspire V7 Screen is cracked on the Top of the Screen while opening. After a short contact to a very kind employee from the Acer Livechat i send it to the Service Center. The employee from the Acer Live Chat told me, that it's not quite sure if it's a Waranty case or not. The Decision is up to the Repair Center. He also told me that the Rate for a repair is 92?. After a week or so, i received an e-mail from Acer with a Repair Rate of 421 ?!!! but no explonation why i can't get the Waranty Repair. Nothing!!! Sorry Acer, but thats not a good Service. So yesterday , I wrote an e -mail to the repair center , and explained , that it's hard for me to understand, why i have to pay so much money for the repair. Even, it's not my fault . I opened it , and it cracked . Plus, it's a total loss of Money because the V7 was expensive enough and it seems to me that this fault is a design error. In my inbox i found a very short Message: Since this is a mechanical defect, the estimate has been created. Only a surveyor can tell how the damage is ultimately emerged. Unfortunately we can't offer you a reduced repair Today i received the Ultrabook (not repaired). For your Understanding: I didn't order it back. But... Did i get that right? The Repair is far expensive than told before, i didn't get my Warranty repair and ACER tells me, that if i want my Warranty repair, i have to order a survey before? and the little explanation is enough to rate the service from www.disq.de with a A+? ... Hello

I have an Acer Aspire z3101 all-in-one Touch screen running Windows 7 Home Premium. I am unable to get the screen to respond to my touch. I have checked the system and all drivers are ok according to comp. Using the settings to setup the pen and touch and to calibrate does not work. My touch brings no response at all. I had reinstalled the applications - Windows Touch Pack and Acer Touch Portal which didn't help. Today I done a complete reinstall returning comp back to factory settings and still there is no response. At first I thought that perhaps a driver or file was missing but now doubt that due to the reinstall not helping. Have you any idea what could be causing this problem? I am now at the stage of pulling my hair out and haven't had too much help from Acer. I have had the computer for just over a year now and so it is no longer under guarantee and this has me very worried due to my being unemployed. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.

Answer:Acer Aspire Touchscreen Not Responding

Is it properly connected? Should be a video cable and a data cable I believe.

Aside from that, I'd suspect a faulty monitor.

I have about a 1-2 year old acer aspire M5 model touchscreen laptop. It worked fine last night then today I went to use it and the blue power on button is flashing and it will not boot up. The keyboard also flashes I plug it in and the Orange charge light is solid and ok

Answer:Acer aspire m5 model touchscreen laptop

In this case, remove the battery from your laptop and check if the laptop boots up properly by connecting it directly to the power adapter. If it does, then there can be may some issues with your battery. To confirm this, you can consider using another working battery (if feasible) and check if the issue resolves. If the issue still persists, you are advised to take your laptop to the nearest Acer service center. To do this, the following link can be helpful:http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/contacts Hope this will help you.

Hi,I have an acer aspire v5 touch screen laptop. The other day the hinge became loose on the laptop causing the top panel of the bottom half of my laptop to pop off and crack the touch screen all the way across the screen. So now I can't use the touch screen and the touchpad also won't work so I have to use a mouse. I was wondering if there have been any other known problems with the hinges on acers?

Answer:acer aspire v5 hinge/cracked touchscreen

I am not aware of any specific issues with hinges on the V5 series. My recommendation is to contact Acer technical support in your region, to inquire what service options are available for your system.

Hi, I'm looking to permanently remove my touchscreen drivers from my computer in a way that they will stay removed even after an OS upgrade. Any ideas or suggestions?  Context: I have a cracked touchscreen which constantly produces phantom clicks when the touchscreen is enabled. These clicks make it impossible to do anything, including log in and disable drivers. Right now, in Windows 8.1, I have disabled the drivers but when I tried to install Windows 10, the drivers were enabled. Due to the phantom clicks, I was unable to log in and resolve this issue. I eventually managed to revert back to Windows 8.1 and am now looking to disable or remove the driver entirely so it does not reactivate when I install Windows 10. Recently started having a problem with the mouse pointer randomly jumping all over the screen. It's gotten so bad that I can't even use the computer at this time because the pointer won't stay in the same place long enough for me to type or select anything. I typically use the laptop in the screen forward configuration so I don't use the touch pad and nothing is touching it. I use the touchscreen about half the time and use an external USB mouse the rest of the time. It makes no difference which method I use or whether the external mouse is connected or not. Really need some help here as my fancy 4-month old laptop is essentially useless at this point.

I have an Acer Aspire R5-471T-52EE that has issues with its touchscreen. When I am trying to take notes with a pen or my finger the touch screen will lose sensitivity or lags very badly after about 5 seconds(varies between 1 and 10 seconds) and regain it after a few minutes only to lose it again after some seconds. I am trying to set this laptop up as a note taker for my college courses and when it is working it is fine but when the touchscreen fails it makes it impossible to use for notes. The lag is around half a second to a second and makes writing words nearly impossible.  I have tried Evernote and google Keep with identical results. I have this problem when the laptop is plugged in and when it is unplugged. I fully updated Win10 to 3/6/2017 before I performed the factory reset.I have:1.) Reinstalled the HID- compliant touchscreen driver2.) taken it apart and looked for lose cables (keyboard needed to be fixed this way since it seemed to have been tossed about during shipping)3.) Performed a factory reset4.) ran the calibration tool5.) ran the troubleshooeter (seems to fix it for, again, a few seconds but this could be due to the time it takes to run the troublshooter)6.) changed the latency in regedit (I restored this to default when it didnt help any)7.) updated the BIOS version from 1.05 - 1.06The screen works after restarting and doesnt seem to malfunciton until I start using it for notes. This can happen when you upgrade an operating system because the drivers of your previous operating system may not always be compatible with the one you currently have. You can try downloading and installing the latest touchscreen drivers for your model and see if that resolves the issue. I have an acer aspire touchscreen v5-571p-6407. My computer took a hit and when I turned it back on it goes to the acer logo and says preparing automatic repair. After 5mins it goes to diagnosing. Once it's done with that it says that it's repairing disk errors and just stays on there. I've left it on overnight on that screen and still nothing. The touchscreen on my HP Pavilion 14-b141sa laptop stopped working yesterday morning. It was intermittently failing to register touch for a while but now it doesn't respond at all. It did this before a couple of years ago, but luckily I was able to fix it earlier this year thanks to a SoftPaq called SP63116. Now it has stopped working once again and SP63116 doesn't help when I run it. I tried all of the troubleshooting advice on this page, the official HP help page (short of fully reseting/restoring the system) but none of those solutions worked either. To be clear, I tried checking everything in device manager, hard reseting, reinstalling the touchscreen driver, installing all available updates, checking I had the latest BIOS and drivers (Couldn't do a component test; that option wasn't on my F2 start-up check anymore strangely...)And as I said, I tried SP63116 again but all it does, after going through the set-up screens, is flash up for a moment then disappear without doing anything. I'm suspecting because I used it once before/it's out of date. Any help? It's not the end of the world not to have a touchscreen but it is useful sometimes.(If it's at all relevant, the battery on the laptop is a bit old and is getting the message it needs replacing. I doubt that would be affecting it though)

Hello. Here is my problem, I searched the net for a solution, haven't found.I have a Lenovo X60, model 6366 - with both capative touchscreen and digitizer pen. I worked fine until recently when I have to apply extreme pressure to hear the sound for touching - both touchscreen and digitizer pen.I had installed some of the recommended drivers from the Lenovo support center - for example, the multitouch driver (which didn't work). What is strange is that everything worked fine until recently; maybe it has something to do with the hinge problem - the hinge became very loose (I suspect someone dropped my computer), now I searching for a way to open and tighten it.Details:- I am running Windows 7 32-bit;- the digitizer worked well - even holding the pen over the screen (hovering, not touching) moved the pointer;- the touchscreen worked too - with a bit of pressure, but a reasonable amout of it, I could use my computer;- after I ran TuneUp 2013 StartUp Manager it disabled "Tablet Shortcut Menu", "Tablet Button" and "TSMResident" and the buttons on the screen stopped working - for example, I cannot change the orientation of the screen; I reenabled the programs, tried running the exe-files, but the buttons do not work anymore;- I have never succeeded to make multitouch work (the latest Wacom drivers - ISD_DualTouch_710-8 - made Windows say I have no touchscreen and no digitizer devices...); pressure sensitivity never worked too; a very nice diagnostics tool showed this (now it say... Answer:X60 - touchscreen and digitizer stopped working

Hi, vader11111

Your suspicion of possible damage to your machine could be correct, but there are a few other updates/changes that you might be able to try to see if that solves/helps your issue.

You've updated the drivers, but have you updated the BIOS? The BIOS being up to date can sometimes help several issues. You can also check the drivers on the support site to make sure you have the latest drivers. I know you've updated them from Lenovo Support Center, but I always recommend people to check the support website just to make sure. You can find the drivers and BIOS updates for your machine here. You can filter the results by searching the types of drivers you are seeking in the first dropdown box and Windows 7 in the second box.

Hope it helps, and let me know how it goes,
Adam

Sometime within the last week or so, the touchscreen stopped working on my laptop (Toshiba Satellite C55Dt-A5307). It has had Windows 10 Home since the free upgrade started last summer and never any issues. I did a clean install at that time.

However, now sometime in the last 2 weeks or so the touchscreen has stopped working. I look in Device Manager, and don't see any device that looks like it would be the touchscreen driver. I look at Toshiba's support page and don't see anything for a touchscreen driver.

I have tried using troubleshoot - hardware & devices. It says to Restart PC to finish installing drivers and updates, but doesn't make a difference. After restarting and rerunning troubleshoot it says exact same thing.

My ideadpad keyboard stopped working again using Windows 8.1.  I did a Windows 8.1 reset yesterday and it seemed to be working but today it stopped working again.  It works at the login screen but some software is preventing it maybe the free Comodo firewall or Avast 8.  I can't uninstall Avast or Comodo in safe mode because it is says to uninstall in normal mode but I can't type in the Start screen to bring up control panel. Whenever I log out it gets stuck on the Lenovo Energy Manager.  Should I keep this program or can I uninstall it?

Run it and use the tools/uninstall to uninstall those programs.

A couple of days ago my Touchscreen stopped working. I went online to find solutions from the HP support site, but am unable to make progress. Perhaps I can get help here. I checked the Device Manager Human Interface section. There are only two devices listed. None have to do with the Touch Screen. Earlier I downloaded the Synaptics Touch Pad Driver (sp72088). This also did not resolve the isssue. I did a System Restore to an earlier time (01/10/2017). That also did not resolve the issue. Then I found the UEFI Hardware Diagnostic Test and did the specific Touchscreen  test. Oddly the Touchscreen worked through the test. I removed all the squares by touching them. So, what else can I do to get this function back? Thank you,Beverly2108

Answer:Touchscreen on my Notebook N5Y90UA stopped working

I just found out the Synaptics Touch Pad Driver (sp72088)  was originally automatically installed on my notebook on 01/09/2016. Exactly one year later it apparently stopped working. I also just found out that the version I downloaded from the HP site earlier did not complete its installation. Beverly2108

Hello, I am hoping I put this in the right section but wasnt sure exactly where it should go. I have a new ((about 3 months old)) Acer Aspire r7 with a touchscreen. Last night when it turned on it said windows had to update. After restart my touchscreen quit working.  I tried contacting Acer and the tech on the phone said I had to restore everything to default which would mean losing all my applications I have installed. I really hate to think of doing that as i have several big programs such as photoshop that I would hate to lose. Can anyone please please help with this? Thank you so much, Becca

Answer:Touchscreen stopped working on laptop after update

The good thing is that this is a laptop and not a tablet, and so you can connect a USB mouse to this for controls. With a USB mouse installed, I would roll back the update to a previous restore point. Then with the touch screen hopefully working again, then try the update again. If the update truely is the cause for the loss of touch screen controls, we can go from there and reinstall the touchscreen driver. And hopefully the reinstallation of the driver will fix this. The reason to go backwards first to a restore point before going forward with just reinstallation of the driver now, is because we want to get the touch screen back to a working state so we know that the hardware for the touch screen is in fact still good.

Good morning, Forum. I was randomly working on my laptop this morning, and the touchscreen stopping registering my touch.  I didn't realize just how much I would use the touchscreen and has now become a very vital way I interact with my laptop. I have looked and it seems there is almost no information out there (from my basic search) to help with this type of issue.  I do not have a Pen and Touch setting in my Control Panel (the only "help" I could find), so I am not sure if there is a toggle that I somehow disabled.   I don't see anything that  oudl switch this off and on via my Function key. Can anyone please provide some info? Thanks!

Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga S1, Windows 8.1The touchscreen stopped working, although the pen works. How can I fix it?

Answer:Touchscreen stopped working, ThinkPad Yoga

I have the same issue.  This first occurred back in May or June when it all of a sudden stopped responding to touch.  Additionally, the auto-rotation was disabled as well as the trackpad lock when the screen is bent all the way back.  I finally got around to sending it in last week and earlier this week I got it back with a factory image loaded onto the machine.  After booting up, the touchscreen was working perfectly fine as was the auto-rotation and trackpad lock.  I then proceeded to start installing Windows updates and after the last installation, I discovered that the screen had become unresponsive again!  To me, this indicates that some update had disabled the screen and indeed, under Device Manager, the HID-compliant touch screen is noted as being disconnected.  I'm not entirely sure how to reconnect the screen, so if anybody has suggestions that would be appreciated. On a separate note, I called Lenovo software support and after explaining the situation to the technician on the phone, he then told me that I would have to buy software warranty for them to fix it.  This is ridiculous!  Why should I have to pay Lenovo to fix a problem that stems from a probable incompatibiity of their own software/drivers with Windows updates?  And after I complained about this hypocrisy, he even had the gall to suggest to me to talk with a "computer-savvy friend" who might be able to help.  I spent a lot of money on this machin... Hello,I have bought my notebook a week ago. And after using it for a really short time my tuochscreen stopped working? I did a reset for it but nothing changed, then i installed an update from windows and it began to work, but the same day it stopped working again. I can see that in device manager there is a driver "I2C HID DEVICE" that does not work and problem status says " POWER FAILURE". So should i send it to waranty service or is it only a program fail? LinK for print screen of driver fault code.http://postimg.org/image/lsxnuighz/

I just purchased a fresh out of the box Aspire V3-112P-C2P6.  The system is running Windows 8.  I cannot get the touchscreen to work and the little icon of the keyboard in the system tray keeps flashing.  In device drivers I don't even see a driver for the touchscreen nor are there any drivers on the Acer support website that specifically say they are for a touchscreen.  I've tried a few suggestions that I found on this forum such as running bcdedit and turing off the driver signing requirement but to no avail.  I've done the restore factory defaults and even tried to upgrade to Windows 10 but to no avail. Please help as for some reason when the keyboard icon flashes it sometimes causes the entire screen to flash.  BTW I thought it might be video drivers because of the flashing screen and have also updated those from Acer support site.

Answer:Touchscreen not working on brand new Aspire

As an addendum I noticed that within Device Manager the screen keeps flashing like it is continually trying to load a driver.  Also I did finally find the touchscreen device but it was under hidden devices in device manager and grayed out.
