I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

STORAGE, DISK HEALTH, BATTERY, OVERHEATING My laptop is 1,5 years old. I think its ergonomic and good to use.  But; Storage is way too low, you have 10gb free space with default apps and drivers,  Each process has become too slow to be done, even though opening browser or file manager. Battery life reduced to 2 hours on internet use. (Only reading)  After 30 minutes of reading pages, keyboard is untouchable (middle part).  I hope these problems are in warranty conditions.

I purchased this Ideapad 100s-14IBR brand new last fall, but this is my very first time opening it up and trying to cut it on. It's been in the bag for several months until today. It has been plugged in for over 3 hours now. The charge light comes on. When I press the power button, that light also cuts on. Still, no matter how many times reset with the power button, the computer will not cut on. Nothing on the screen and it doesn't even make any noises. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi, I have had my Lenovo Ideapad 100s-14IBR for just over a year now. I had a few issues during this time such as the screen goes black and a battery issue. I sent the laptop back for repairs which were done. A problem though was they sent it back now and wifi was not working. Once in a while, it would let me connect to a connection but it the signal would be one bar or it won't connect. Usually, it says no available connections (wifi symbol dark grey with red cross). This has been like this nearly for 5 months and I've had enough. I've tried updating drivers etc but nothing works. I troubleshoot problems and it says "problem with wireless adapter or access point." This laptop is on windows 10. Please Help!

I am trying to do a recovery for my 100S but at about 45% it says error and stops. Now the computer doesn't load windows and I'm stuck on the Lenovo screen. I thought I had a solution when I saw Lenovo had a Lenovo Recovery Digital Download Service (RDDS). Basically this allows me to create a USB drive that has the recovery on it. I tried it but at 10% it says error and then stops. Now the computer just keeps going into the boot menu and anything I select nothing happens. Right now my IdeaPad is a paperweight. I can't even get back into the recovery menu. Every time I startup it goes into the boot menu. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Juanl1999Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.Sounds like you will have an issue with your recovery, perhaps it got corrupted.

I would recommend, that you call your local Lenovo support line and see if you can request a recovery media from the, they should be able to supply this for you, either CD or USB depending on the unit specs. Below is the link to the phone list where you can find these numbers

Hi All, First off thank you for this community it's been incredibly helpful. I think I may have bricked my 100s-14IBR and need some advice. I received this laptop secondhand from a family member and being computer savvy (or at least so I thought) I wanted to make it my own and install Windows 7 Pro on it. So let's get started. Bios SettingsSecure Boot: DisabledBoot Priority: Legacy SupportBoot Priority: Legacy FirstUSB Boot:Enabled - Booting from USB with Windows 7 iso created using Rufus - "MBR partition for scheme UEFI"- File system was FAT32 So I am able to boot from USB, load DISKPART via W7 cmd prompt, clean the HDD, convert to MBR from GPT, wipe all partitions clean, format them into one partition (instead of the original four), and install Windows 7 (although painstaking slow). Immediately upon first boot I get BSOD and following that I begin bootlooping in to the Windows Advanced Options menu giving me the option to boot into Safe Mode, Last Known Good Configuration, etc. Safe Mode Fails, Start Windows Normally Fails, and Last Known Good Configuration takes me back to the BSOD. So, I threw up my hands and decided to re-install Windows 10. However, now the system doesn't act like it wants to boot to Windows 10 from USB stick. I simply keep geeting a boot loop into Windows Advanced Options Menu. Have I bricked my device? I can still enter the BIOS and the Boot Menu via the Novo button. However, n... Read more

Hi.
I bought an Ideapad 100S-14IBR in september 2016 and its battery has been greatly reduced since last year. I could stay unplugged at least 5 hours with internet switched on or 8 hours with everything switched off and low luminosity. Now I struggle to get more than 3 hours with everything off. I tried recalibrating the battery, hasn't proved useful.

I haven't abused the battery, I use my computer on average less than once a day, I don't leave it plugged. On my battery report I have 22 000 mWh out of 33 000 mWH design capacity. This is really annoying since I need to bring this computer to study at school but it can barely made it. Does anyone have an explanation ? Otherwise I would like to know if the warranty (which is still active) covers a battery replacement ?

Thanks

I do not understand / why Lenovo made such small IdeaPads / they can not even perform needed Microsoft updates. I have a question regarding upgrading the default memory. According to some websites also built-in application (Lenovo comparison) this laptop should have two slots also be able to have a memory up to 8GB. I bought an extra memory and opened the laptop according to Lenovo manual, but I couldnt find any memory or memory slot. Answer:Ideapad 100s 14IBR memory upgrade

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

The reason the memory slots are not mentioned in the manual is because there are no memory slots available.  The Ideapad 100s product line comes with the memory soldered directly to the motherboard so it is not socketed and can not be upgraded.  Sorry!

Thus I can't get the original OS back.I checked on the recovery partition that I have just in case any failure happens on this laptop. However, not only the system restore process (by using NOVO button) does not have the original recovery image, but the disk management shows that recovery partition is 100% free space!!?I have not touched it at all since I bought it last month.I might be wrong about this process of recovering the factory image, so please correct me if that's the thing.I do not want fresh install of windows 10 like the usual way if you want a fresh install.I need to know the procedures of this recovery, does the recovery is pre istalled on my laptop or not? Hi everybody. I recently bought the Ideapad 100S 14IBR at a local store the on September, 19th 2016. It is a nice notebook but I just discovered something pretty unpleasing.  With Windows 10 installed, I could do 8 hours of word processing with close to full battery which is pretty neat. After installing Linux, to my surprise since this OS has bad reputation about battery life, I still could get around  8 hours of word processing just like Windows. Very nice for college usage. However, Linux Mint gives access to more in-depth informations about battery life, that I can't seem to get on Windows. ? As you can see, my brand new battery can store up to 4350 mAh full charge according to its desing but I can only store 3721 mAh at full charge, which is an indication of wear. This discrepancy seems pretty large since I just recently bought it (see 20 charge cycles in 21 days of usage) but the battery is already at only 85% of its life expecatncy, which seems to be a lot of wear for such a small period. I know that these tools aren't the most accurate but the "charge_full" rate has been going down pretty reasonnably (normal wearing) since I have been monitoring this data so the measures seem to be pretty legit and not complete fantasy. It really surprises me since I've been using my laptop very reasonably, making sure it didn't heat and keeping the battery life between 20 and 90 % in order to avoid... Hello, I bought this Ideapad 14IBR on friday and the battery will not hold a charge and it has been at 0% since i bought it. any idea why this is ahppening. do I need to take it back and get another one?

Answer:Brand New Ideapad 100s 14IBR battery not charging

Well, The battery most likely is Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) and either have been a production defect; or have not been properly charged at the factory; or have been drained completely, been sitting for a long time, then as a result have suffered damages to the chemical bits inside. You may have to return only the battery to the store (If accessible to remove form outside/If not internal) , unless they tell you to bring something else in addition. Sincerely Cklone.

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Sorry to hear of the problem you are having with the lid bezel.  From the picture I would suspect that either the bezel was slightly mis-aligned during assembly and popped loose in that area or the video cable wasn't seated properly in its wiring channel.  That when opened, tension on the video cable pulled on the screen bezel.  Either case it is a fairly simple and quick repair and should be covered by warranty on a day old machine.

hi, I just bought a new ideapad 100s-14ibr 5 days ago [4-24-2017], I noticed seomthing about the battery life that gave me a hunch: Usually when unboxing a new laptop smartphone, etc., it comes with 40-70% of charge from the factory as industry practice. My laptop had 0% charge and could not power on until after 35 minutes of charging.(lithium-ion batteries only lose only about 1-2% of charge per month in storage. Usually a lituim-ion battery that loses its charge (or doesnt hold its charge) is defective.) My laptop only holds a charge for 5 hours on 75% brightness. Im concerned as most review sites, testers and many credible sources indicate that this laptop has a 7+ battery life and some have even got uo tp 9 hours of battery time. Please let me know if this is normal, if this battery life of 7+ hours is reached only on lowest brightness, etc. Because one tester indicated they reached 7 hours of battery on highest brightness and another had the same time with 70% brightness looping a video. any help/feedback is very helpful as quickly as possible. I have a small window to return laptop for an excange. i dont want a refund as this machine exceeded my expectations in performance and other areas. But I need a laptop that give me a ChromeBook battery life of 7-8+ hours but the flexability of having Windows 10.

Hi everyone, I need some help to install Linux on 100s-14IBR (14 inch model) laptop. This laptop use 128 SSD. In the "Disk Management" I can see there are three partitions 1. UEFI2. C:\3. Recovery Partition (the manual say this partition cannot be deleted or there will be problem) The Question is.. 1. How to properly install Linux on this laptop? Can I delete all the partition? The manual say not to delete recovery partition. 2. If one day I decide to install back Win 10, how can I do it since there are no copy of Win 10 that come with this laptop and no product key as well.

Answer:How to install linux on 100s-14IBR

Hi Luciusverus1995 , You can find your windows 810 key inside the UEFI bios of your ideapad , so if you want to reinstall it properly , its possible , when windows 10 installation program start , it will detect automaticly your activation key in the UEFI bios , but be sure to have the correct installation program for your windows 10 edition ( Home , Pro ... ) .You can download windows 10 iso at the microsoft official site , you will find an media creator software that allow you to download , and make a windows 10 dvd or usb thumdrive installation.  But you can install Linux next to windows OS , ( Using Ubuntu installation guide for exemple )Hope that help you

Hi Kyle,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

Go to the window search in the task bar and typed in "computer management? and open the computer management desktop app. Under device manager selected mice and other pointing devices and then elan input device. In the elan properties window that opened I selected uninstall to uninstall the driver and in the next box that opened warning that the driver was about to be uninstalled. I checked the delete driver and then OK. Then restarted windows. In the process of restarting windows detected the elan touchpad as a new device and installed the driver in time for the login screen.

The adapter I am using is:

Sitecom USB LN-030 v3 001
https://www.sitecom.com/de/usb-20-network-adapter/ln-030/p/73

The adapter is not being recognised by the laptop.

If you have any suggestions as to how I can resolve this matter, I would be grateful for your help.

What I have done thus far:

(1) I have reinstalled Windows 10.(2) I have installed the relevant drivers from the Lenovo website.(3) According to the Sitecom website as well as the seller from whom I purchased the mentioned adapter, no drivers
from Sitecom are required in regard to Windows 10.

Where do I go from here?

Thanks in advance,

I have this problem with an ideapad that was handed down to me for repair. The touchpad doesn't work. It came with Win 10 preinstalled, and also the ELAN driver. When I try to use the touchpad, it does nothing. The clic button works, so if I disable the touchpad with the Fn key, it disables it (that way I know it's not disabled when I try to use it). Using a USB mouse works just fine. Hello! Since the most recent build of W-10 (9879), my caps lock, num lock, and scroll lock lights do not function on either computer on which I have W-10 installed (a desktop with a USB keyboard and a laptop with an integrated keyboard). The keys still work to correctly toggle the functionality, but the keyboard lights don't work. In case it matters, my keyboard's actual backlights and my mouse's internal light (not the laser, the internal LED) are working correctly, it's just the CL, NL, and SL indicators that don't function.

Anyone have any ideas for fixing this?

Hi

I got a 2nd hand Lenovo Ideapad 100S. It came with Win10 installed but had someone elses profile and data.
(I am not sure if it originally had Win8.1 when it was shipped, there is no rollback option anymore)

My preference is to wipe the current installation completely by downloading Win10 and installing a clean copy off USB.

I also usually prefer to delete all partitions, including recovery because future reinstallations can be done from scratch via USB. (I don't need the option of reinstalling from recovery partitions , the extra space is more important)

I see a warning in the user guide however .....
"Do not delete or modify the Recovery Partition on a WIMBoot-enabled computer. If the Recovery Partition is deleted or modified, you may not be able to restore Windows to the factory status. For computer models on which WIMBoot is enabled, deleting the Recovery Partition may cause Windows to fail to start. How can I determine whether the Windows running on my computer is WIMBoot enabled? WIMBoot technology is normally enabled on copies of Windows 10 Update running on SSD (or eMMC) -only computer models."

What is the best way to do this?

Install a clean copy and remove the partition by booting off a USB, or should I not do this?

Answer:Ideapad 100s - Win10 clean installation on ideapad...

 Hi larrens ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

It's a good thing you posted first before proceeding with any clean installation.
Not sure what the Machine Number is to verify the details and specifications of your system.

But if you have a pc with a Windows Image Boot (or WIMBoot) you may not want to choose a clean installation.
This new deployment of installation is compressing part of a big OS file so that you can have an operating system that can only take small spaces intended for small storages (SSD).

Best option to wipe out previous owners profile is a have a fresh out of the box image is using the Puch button Factory reset (Novo key similar to Item 7 page 1). Simply shutdown the system and use the button to turn on, System Recovery option would provide One key recovery from initial backup to do it.

WIM boot are usually created thru OEM depot authorized by Microsoft . DIY for WIMboot maybe a bit complicated.

Hope this answered your query.

Answer:ideapad 100s problem

smallz,

Did you change the boot order in the BIOS of the Ideapad 100s?

Can you do so by pressing the Power button, and immediately pressing Fn and F2, or Fn and F1 keys 5 to10 times.

Unlike other laptops I've had which were able to run without the battery even in the laptop, i.e. Only plugged in, my laptop requires some level of charging before even turning on when plugged in.  is this normal or is there a setting to allow the device to turn on when plugged in. Quite a pain having to wait for it to re charge, isn't that the point of corded use? Also it seems to die pretty quickly and even when put to sleep when closed fizzles out quickly. Again is this normal?

Forgive me if this question has already been asked. I would like for the touchpad to turn off when I plug a mouse in. It was fairly easy to do this on my old laptop. I noticed on the ideapad 100s that the touchpad doesn't show up under hardware. I have also not been able to find any drivers that seem to fit this touchpad. The only option I have under mouse settings is to change the delay before click works. Any suggestions? Also, on a different topic. This machine came with windows 10 installed. However it is extremely sluggish (as in, you have to wait for a few seconds for text to catch up with what you're typing many times in search fields. etc.)  Any ideas about what I could do to optomize my system's performance? Would it be better to downgrade to windows 7, or would this be futile? Thanks!

Answer:Ideapad 100s touchpad

Hi Kit,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

You can configure Windows 10 to automatically disable the touchpad of your laptop when a mouse is connected. You can toggle this option on/off under your Mouse & touchpad settings.
Automatically Disable Touchpad When a Mouse is Plugged In

Click on Start > Settings and then navigate to Device > Mouse & touchpad > Touchpad section. Toggle the Leave touchpad on when a mouse is connected option off:

I hope the above information helps.

Any experience how long it can take to finish Update? My Ideapad 500-15ISK received the Anniversary Update recently.  Unfortunately, I did not time it.  But the download took a long time (over an hour I think, at 16 Mbits/sec), and then the update took a long time (again over an hour I think; it could have been as much as two hours). The confusing aspect is that the "% complete" figure does not increase linearly.  It stays fixed for some time, then increases a lot, then stays fixed again... -- from CyberSimian in the UK

I got the Ideapad 100s last year. Works great, but a Windows update screwed it up, and I can't install ANY OS anymore. When I boot 10 from my USB, it freezes on the first setup screen. Even DEBIAN! It freezes on the language setup. It started doing this sort of recently. When it freezes, the power light goes out and the caps lock light doesnt turn on, so I have to force turn it off. The UEFI doesn't give me many options to change, besides secure boot, which I've tried both on and off. I've been trying different USB's, seeing if it was the stick issues, but so far, the boot menu doesn't detect them, except one of them. I want to be able to use this again, but at the moment, I can't. Help?

Touchpad on my Ideapad 100s keeps shutting off.  It will work when the computer turns on but then after a while, it stops working.  Pressing F6 works sometimes but not all of the time. It looks like the driver that is loaded is from January 2016, but when I tried to upgrade to the newer driver, it seemed to not be working and was causing both the touchpad and keyboard to stop working.  Got it working again by deleting the driver.  My wife uses this computer for school and it's not convenient to plug in an external mouse.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello, I am trying to reset/restore my Ideapad 100s-11IBY but am running into issues. The process stops at around 40% and tell's me "there was a problem resetting your PC, no changes were made." I've used this function several times on my desktop PC's and have never run into any issues. Perhaps a corrupted recovery partion? Also, I'd prefer to keep the recovery partition intact if possible. If anyone has any experience with this error or can offer some advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you,Greg

Hi, I bought an ideapad 100s last week but I can't find anywhere whether or not it is bluetooth enabled. When I try to connect my devices the system can't find them.  The sound system on this laptop isn't fantastic and I would be wanting to watch quite a lot of films and listen to music, so knowing if there is the capacity for bluetooth would be good. Is there any way to find this out? Thanks Vicky

Hi, I have an Ideapad 100S and it is having trouble starting,  This is what I see,-White Power light on for a few seconds then,-Orange Battery LED flashes ~30 times (if connected to power this is a white LED)It attempts this a few times then switches off, then starts the flashing cycle again,on occasion it will start and work as normal (after a few rounds of the above flashing),- I did note that the initial time in windows was incorrect on the occasion it did load. it does the same thing if I use the Novo button (I tried to reset as described in the manual) On the occasion it does actually load into Windows it does all work, it just does not get into Windows very often?. thanks for any help.

Hi all!I got a Lenovo ideapad 100S two days ago and I have finally started attempting to installing things I had on my previous laptop: starting with my Yeti Blue Microphone.

I have an issue with how they're recognised on my laptop and yet they still don't work for recording programs or even the voice recorder app on windows that comes installed. I've looked at devices/recording devices/sound manager on my laptop and my Yeti mic does show up as a device that's plugged in. When I make a noise, say a clap or just a cour of words, the sound level bar only goes green for the laptop microphone and not on the bar for my Yeti. I've checked properties and it says that my usb mic is working well. I've gone and done other things (suggested by folks on audacity, on google, on other forums) but none of them seem to work! I've also tried it with a different mic (a samson GoMic) and it still isn't working on my laptop!

Please help!

Thank you!

Hi everyone, my 100s Ideapad recently had a charging issue where it won't charge unless you cram it in. So, I ordered a new charger off of Amazon with the same output voltage. However, when I plug the charger in, it doesn't show the charging light or turn on. I tried unplugging the battery and holding the button down, but it didn't work. The gold part inside the charging port is loose, I think that's what's wrong. Does anyone have any fixes?

I've tried the on-screen keyboard and plugged in an external keyboard, and it is exactly the same. Restarting does not help. I cannot log in to check the drivers, etc. There has been nothing spilt on it, nothing downloaded to it - no variables at all, as far as I know.  Any advice?!  Thanks!
