My DELL INSPIRON N5110 Windows 10 64 Bit having Crackling Sound Problem on Both Speakers and Headphones

Question: My DELL INSPIRON N5110 Windows 10 64 Bit having Crackling Sound Problem on Both Speakers and Headphones

My DELL INSPIRON N5110 Windows 10 64 Bit having Crackling Sound Problem on Both Speakers and Headphone. I have already tried twice to format window, uninstall sound drivers and only keeping High Definition Audio native driver only but the problem is not getting rectified. I shown my Laptop to a Mechanic also and he said speakers are ok. So the problem is with Software but yet I am not sure about where is this problem in Software or Hardware? I have also done diagnostic test but everything fine in Test. Please help me with this problem, I am unable to listen music and watch movies. Your Help will be highly appreciated.
Thanks!

Preferred Solution: My DELL INSPIRON N5110 Windows 10 64 Bit having Crackling Sound Problem on Both Speakers and Headphones

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

It's as if it doesn't detect the headphones. It says my Realtek audio driver is up-to-date. When I go to manage audio devices, there's only one device listed called "Speakers / Headphones", so I don't know if when I plug my headphones in it's supposed to detect it separately. I've tried multiple headphones, all of which work with other devices. Also, there are two drivers listed under "sound, video, and game controllers". One is Realtek Audio and the other is Intel(R) Display Audio. Should I reinstall them both? This is a new laptop that I got to replace my old laptop which had (different) sound problems, so I'm very frustrated and at my wit's end, help is appreciated, thank you.

Answer:Dell Inspiron 15: Headphones not working, sound comes through speakers when plugged in

First, make sure the headphone cable is fully inserted...
Then you show get a popup to allow you to select the device if you are using a Combined Audio Port.
If you aren't getting the popup, check the task manager to see if on the Startup Tab a Waves MaxxAudio entry is set to enabled.
If you look at the processes tab you should have two entries for Waves, one blue square and one green circle.

Hi,
I've been experiencing a extremely annoying issue lately. My headphones make a crackling sound, but it also feel kind of electric. I have a Audio interface (Steinberg UR22) and got both my speakers and headphones connected there. They both have the same symptoms. I've tried putting my headphones in my pc, so it would go on the motherboard soundcard, but i got the same result.
Headphones: Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro
Speakers: KRK rokit 5
Audio interface: Steinberg UR22
Pc specs:
Asus pro gaming z170
Intel i7 6700k
Gigabyte GTX 1080

I have an HP ENVY 15t-j100 Quad Edition CTO Notebook PC. The oddest thing happened the other day, I didn't drop my laptop or do anything out of the ordinary to it. One minute the speakers are fine, the next minute there is a frequent popping or crackling sound coming every 20 seconds or so, even while using headphones.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver from the product website to no avail.

However, there is this one driver that always has a yellow exclamation mark on it called the "High Definition Audio Device". It would make sense that this driver is the culprit but its been yellow for a month now without any popping or crackling sound and it is absolutely impossible to resolve it. I completely uninstalled and re-installed my sound drivers and that didn't fix it and windows troubleshooter can't find the driver either.

I'm at a loss here guys. I don't want to have to replace the speakers on a one year old computer but I might have to. Thank you in advance for any help I can get.

Answer:Crackling/Popping sound from laptop speakers even when using headphones

Ha you tried to back up your hard-drive and find a restore point before your problem started taking it back to that time see if it's back to normal.
Remember if you try that full battery charge and mains plug in throughout restore.

Have updated IDT driver but still no joy. Headphones work, all the usual checks ok (not muted, sound not turned down, etcetera) but still NO SOUND from the 5-month-old laptop's speakers. Problem started just a week ago, for no apparent reason - also my power settings were suddenly changed (shutting lid reverted to sleep instead of hibernate, without me making any changes). Seems to be a common problem, but can't find a solution.

Answer:Inspiron N5110 built-in speakers suddenly no sound

Dell laptops with HD audio (all models newer than the Inspiron 9300) utilize switching technology in the headphone jack socket, which is somewhat complicated. In addition to the usual mechanical parts, the jack also uses current & impedance-sensing techniques to trigger software configuration and switching (to send the audio signal to the speakers). Sometimes the laptops with these jacks develop this combination of symptoms:    * Speakers don't work and are not muted or deselected    * Headphone jack does work    * Reinstalling audio driver does not help    * Audio test in Dell Diagnostics passes    * On models with 2 headphone jacks, one may be "checked" in the control panel as if in use    * Sometimes but not always, a very gentle wiggle of a plug in the jack will get it to resume normal functioning, at least temporarily. That combination of symptoms means that the sense pin in the jack is not working for some reason. Failure of the sense pin results in the computer behaving like there is always a plug in the jack. The software switch that should route audio to the speakers does not get triggered. There are 3 ways to confirm that you have a failed sense pin:1. Check for the combination of symptoms that I listed. If you have all of them then it is pretty certain you have the failed sense pin. Note that when you run the audio tests in Dell Diagnostics you should hear audi... Read more

I have just bought a Dell Inspiron 15 7559 and it just arrived this morning. However, when I try to play any sound the speaker starts to crackle heavily. The only solution that works is plugging in headphones and unplugging them which seems to work. But once you shut down the computer, and turn it back on, this problem still exists. I have already updated the realtek hd audio driver as well as the bios. I would hate to have to return the laptop as it works flawlessly otherwise.

Answer:Speakers Crackling on Dell Inspiron 15 7559

Install latest Realtek driver FROM REALTEK SITE, not from Dell site.
That Realtek driver ll have an advanced option to disable audio power management. That's it.

I have an N5110 Inspiron. I bought it around 6 years ago. It had a faulty HDD so I had it replaced about 5.5 years ago. It has been working fine since then.
However, it has been making a weird clicking sound from the beginning. It usually occurs when the HDD is idle (the HDD led isn't on). Sometimes it doesn't happen for minutes whereas other times it happens a couple of seconds apart. I was wondering what could this be?
My laptop is getting quite old and currently, I cannot replace it so I want to keep it functional as long as possible. Could this clicking reduce the life-expectancy of my HDD, is it a sign of something faulty? If yes, what can I do to prevent an HDD failure and losing all my files?

Answer:Dell N5110 Inspiron HDD clicking sound

They don't call it click death for nothing.  The drive is trying to recalibrate track zero and isnt finding it. So the drive is likely to die very soon and lose everything.  Drives die, this isn't a fault anymore than the brakes on your car or other mechanical things like tires wearing out from use.

Hi..I have been given this Laptop by my brother,it was functioning correctly and Battery Charging ,until,I  tried to Power it on today as normal with the Battery and Mains charger installed and it wouldn't power up,absolutely dead! But as soon as I removed the Battery[Dell Type J1KND 11.1V Cap 48W],the Laptop would power up from Mains OK.Does this indicate that the Battery is faulty?is there any way to test it?or is there some other fault with Motherboard etc? any help appreciated  Michael >NB I have tried discharging the circuits by depressing Power Switch for 20 seconds before installing battery and mains adapter but this doesn't make any difference.

Answer:Dell Inspiron Model !5R N5110 Running windows 7 64 Bit..Laptop Battery Problem

Almost always it is the battery. The test is to try another battery. * Eventually you need another battery anyway. The average life of laptop batteries is about 2 years for many users. * Yes, there are testers for laptop batteries. Such a tool for commercial use costs more than  a new battery. You can use a common mufti meter, but you need a new battery to use as a reference. Sooner or later you have to buy a battery, even to prove the problem is the motherboard. You don't want it to be the motherboard.

Hi,
Further to my previous post about the issue with Dell Command Update tool (it keep suggesting to download and install the same drivers over and over, although I have installed them more than 5 times), I also have an issue with the speakers built-in the machine.
From time to time, while I'm listening to music I hear a crackling sound from the speakers. According to the Dell Command Update tool, I have the most updated audio driver. I even reinstalled the audio driver by removing it from the device manger and restarting the machine, but to no avail.
OS: Windows 10 pro
Audio drivers:
Speakers/Headphones (Realtek audio): 10.0.14393.0 (driver date: 15-Jul-16)
Realtek audio: 6.0.1.7982 (driver date: 8-Nov-16)
Any idea?
Thanks.
p/s. Latitude 7480 has too many hardware/software issues. I got the laptop only two weeks ago, and this is the third issue I have. I'm considering returning it back to Dell :-\

Answer:Dell Latitude 7480 - crackling sound from the speakers

Tx155I'm considering returning it back to Dell :-\
If you want to return it, don't wait too long. After the brief return period, which starts from the invoice date, you won't be allowed to return it.
Try the Windows native audio driver -- as a test.
1. Open the Device Manager.2. Expand the "Sound, Video & Game Controllers" section.3. Right click on "Realtek High Definition Audio" and select to uninstall.4. Put a check mark in the option to delete the driver software, and then ok.5. Restart the laptop and go back to the Device Manager and check again for a Realtek driver. Keep uninstalling & restarting until Realtek no longer appears under Sound...Controllers and "High Definition Audio Device" appears in its place. "High Definition Audio Device" is the name of the native driver.
[The reason you might have to go through the process more than once is because the driver files for more than one Realtek driver could be on the hard drive. When a Realtek driver is removed, the next one gets installed if Windows can locate the files. Windows installs its generic driver only after all Realtek files have been removed.]
To re-install the Realtek driver, it's better to download it from your Dell support page rather than letting Windows Update find one.

It's a new Dell and it has been making crackling sound since I got it.
I spent an hour on the phone with a technician who restored the laptop with Windows 8.1 to an earlier point in time and it stopped crackling for the rest of the day, but the next day, the noise was back.
The worst are "ding" sounds, they have more crackle than ding. Video playback is bad but at least we can understand what is said. Youtube is bad. mp3 audio is bad. Crackle is there with earphones too.

Hello. If it made the noise right out of the box you probably should have returned it as defective during the brief return period.
Does it make the noise only when running on battery power or also when plugged into house current?

Can anyone help here?

I got a Dell Inspiron 1525 back in September. Runs on Vista.

A few weeks ago, I began noticing a crackling sound that was coming from the top left hand corner of the keyboard section of the laptop, right near where the 'Inspiron' logo is. It doesn't usually start until I've had the computer running for 30 minutes or so.

I called Dell and shipped the computer to their facility since it's still under warranty. They sent it back saying that they could not detect any problem with any of the hardware and therefore, did not fix anything. Sure enough, after getting it back and turning it on and being on it for 30 minutes or so, the sound is still there.

Everything about the computer works fine...the Internet, my progams. It isn't slow or anything. But this sound just doesn't sound right.

Does anyone have any ideas what this may be? Could it be an issue with the laptop's fans? If so, aren't the fans considered to be part of the hardware?

Thanks for any light anyone may be able to shed on this issue.

- Brian

Answer:Crackling Sound From Dell Inspiron 1525

Is laptop staying cool or did you try to update your wireless/network card? When you listening music can you check CPU usage and temperature (with temp additional program) under task manager. Also, CPU fan is not making that noise.

i am at my wits end and can't access any info to help me, so  some help is greatly needed thank you

Answer:inspiron 15 3542 no audio sound headphones and speakers, drivers ok

dejibytefinally i did an audio test from the epsa(pre assessment tests)  and no sound,
Hello. Failure of the ePSA audio test means hardware failure -- probably just a coincidence about formatting. The ePSA tests do not have anything to do with Windows -- would work even with no operating system on the laptop.
dejibyteafter i removed the speakers and reinstalled to check shaky connection still no sound.
The fact that no audio through headphones either means there is more wrong than the speakers. If the audio chip were functioning correctly, should hear through headphones even if speakers were dead. If the laptop is still under warranty, contact tech support.
If not under warranty, you can still get audio through headphones or external speakers by getting an inexpensive usb audio jack. A usb jack has its own self-contained audio chip and does not use the one on the motherboard. The only drawback is that a usb jack cannot play through the laptop's internal speakers.

Hello. I replied to your other post yesterday.
http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3517/t/20000413
dejibytealso my left speaker had stopped working before re installation, and the audio jack has a bit broken off exposing the metal stick(i dont know maybe this is a problem)
That information wasn't in your first thread. That might be why there is no audio through the headphone jack.

In light of this additional information, it is possible that you have 2 issues: broken headphone jack, and an interruption in the audio signal to the speakers. I understand that you reseated the speakers, but the ePSA test proves that the signal is still not getting through, or they have failed.
If the laptop is no longer under warranty, all I can suggest is that reseat the speaker cable again.
As for the headphones, I don't think that the Inspiron 3542 has a jack circuit board, so your best option may be to get a usb audio jack. It only costs a few dollars on Amazon. Don't know about the availability in your area.

You need to replace the hard drive, which has failed.
Good news:  the drive will be an inexpensive part to replace (any 2.5" 9.5 or 7 mm SATA notebook hard drive, hybrid drive or solid state drive will work).
Bad news:  this model requires an almost complete tear-down to replace a hard drive.  The procedure is deailed

Hi all .
I am using Dell Inspiron N5110 , but i can not use the bluetooth.
I downloaded the driver from Dell ( i'm sure the driver is correct because i downloaded using my service tag ) , but whenever i try to install , it say "Activate bluetooth using wireless switch" althought i have already turn the wireless on ( Fn + F2) .

Here is the driver i downloaded :
And here is the message i received when i install the driver :

I tried to let windows install the driver it self but there is always an error called Code 43 : Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems.

After i uninstall the driver, on the device manager the bluetooth device is shown as unknow device .

So i use a software called : Driver Identifier and download a software call BlueSoleil , after installing this, everything seemed to be fine :
But it is just for look , nothing changed , i can not start the bluetooth device, and in the control panel it does not recognize any bluetooth device :
My device hardware ids is :

Hi All,
I am very much frustrating that I have purchased the Dell laptop 15R N5110 three years back. Now the issue is that when we try to start the laptop it start starts beeping of 7 Beeps and then nothing happens after that. The warranty over the laptop has already been expired  and contact to the local laptop repair engineer they told that we need to replace the Motherboard.
Also, In the market there is not the new motherboard available and they provide us the refurbished motherboard which is not trustable to spend the amount of 12000 for this motherboard. Please suggest dell community. What should we need to do.
Regards
Rajesh

Answer:Dell Inspiron 15R N5110 : Problem 7 beeps and not start at all

The mainboard is likely the faulty part, as you know.
Given the age of the system, cost of replacing the board and the fact that you'll get at best a 90-day repair warranty, you're likely better off buying a new system -- this one is now on the order of five or more years old -- and therefore not worth repairing.

Answer:Need Dell Windows 7 ISO for Inspiron n5110

It's not downloadable.  Your best bet is probably to avail yourself of the free upgrade to Windows 10 at this point (you can get version TH2 from Microsoft and use your 7 product key that's in the battery compartment to activate it).
It's at this point unlikely Dell will ship out an end of life OS  like Windows 7.

I have a Dell N5110 with a failed hard drive. I bought a new hard drive, reinstalled Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I then downloaded all the drivers from dell. I followed the Dell recommended install order. After all the drivers are loaded, I go to Device manager and it says I am missing a network controller driver and I am unable to access wireless. I press function + F2 and I can turn on the wireless, but I am unable to add a wireless network.
I have tried numerous network drivers from the dell site - doing a win reinstall before trying a different driver, but none are working. What am I doing wrong?
I have reformatted the machine again (for the 5th time) and I have no drivers currently installed. Where do I go from here?
Thank you!

I will try one more time to make this post cause the previous one never went live.
I have a 3 years old Dell Inspiron N5110 i5/8GB ram/Nvidia/ Win 7 home premium and i am very happy with its performance and build quality. Yesterday i tried to reserve a Windows 10 copy and after having trouble to make the icon pop in my taskbar, i managed to get it popped.
When i clicked on the Get Windows 10 app icon to get the reserve it came up with this message...

"BIOS isn't supported"
I have 2 more laptops that are 2-3 years older than my N5110 and both are qualified and reserved the update...
I am running the latest BIOS A11, all windows updates and latest drivers for this machine and wanted to ask:
Is it me or other N5110 users getting this message?
Is there any other BIOS update that i might missing to get his to work?
Is Dell going to fix this till 29 July and when Windows 10 go live?
An official reply or if there is an official link from Dell for this issue would be appreciated.

Hello,
With this post I would like to clarify if there is a solution for the USB 3.0 drivers on Windows 10 for my laptop? During the last two years had upgraded my laptop from windows 7, then to windows 8 and 8.1 and at latest to Windows 10. After the first upgrade to windows 10, USB 3.0 ports were working (with some faults, but at least sometimes working). Always were using the USB 3.0 driver from the dell support page for windows 7. Since the newest version of windows 10 is now installed, the driver became not compatible with windows 10. I know, that the technologies are moving always forward, but it is sad that the 4 years laptop may loose such simple funcions, when it is still may cover my needs.

Hello!I've problem with my dell inspiration n5110 laptop. At the beginning there was sometimes a screen like below, but now I've it on every turn on. I haven't changed anything in BIOS, so it could be the power adapter problem? Which one should I buy to test it?I have all original parts in my laptop.I'm little surprised about this 130W Adapter. Could I buy dell adapter with params 19,5V 4,62A 90W or should I look at the 130W?

Hi,
I have a problem with my Dell inspiron n5110 laptop. After turning it on I have a message like below:
All parts in my laptop are original (from Dell). I think that could be a problem with power adapter or with battery. My battery:
What should I do with it? Change AC power adapter? Update BIOS/change BIOS settings? Thanks.

I just purchased a brand new HP Spectre x360 ultrabook. There is a very concerning static/crackling interference type noise from the speakers and headphones while playing music (spotify) or youtube videos. First I thought it sounded like the speakers were blown out, but since this noise is also present in the headphones I have to assume it's an internal issue. I really want to continue using this laptop, but if I can't get this fixed, I may have to consider returning it. If such a major issue could exist, I don't even want to know how many less noticeable issues may be lurking. Please help me stop this annoying sound so I can use my laptop for such a basic function as playing music!

Hello Tech Support Guy forums!

Here's the story:
After cleaning (read - deleting things I shouldn't have) my PC I had to re-install Win7.
Now when I want to play a video game that ran just fine the day before I get maybe 15 minutes of play in and my computer just overheats and shuts down. I read somewhere that the BIOS version was the problem so I updated it to the latest version but the problem still persists.

Here are some specs:

Operating System : Windows 7 Home Premium Home Edition Media Center 6.01.7601 Service Pack 1 (64-bit)
Processor : Intel Core i5 2410M @ 2300 MHz
Video Card : Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000
Physical Memory : 4096 MB (1 x 4096 DDR3-SDRAM )

EDIT: After shutting off my computer and letting it cool off for quite a while next to an open window and turning it back on yields me this the second I turn it back on:
THM_ : 61.5 C
Core 1 : 53 C
Core 2 : 61 C
Package : 53 C
Hard Disk WDC WD5000BPVT-75HXZT1 : 34 C

Answer:Dell Inspiron 15R N5110 keeps shutting down after re-installing Windows

Updating the BIOS will never cure an overheating problem. Open up the case and give it a careful but thorough clean out with one of those purpose-made cans of dry compressed air.

Hi! I've recently bought a new Dell Inspiron N5110 with NoOS. Now I'm trying to install Windows 7 Professional x64 on it from a USB drive. I've done this a hundred times, but now I'm stuck with a problem. After the installation begins it shows me a message:
A required CD/DVD device driver is missing. I f you have a driver floppy disk, CD/DVD or USN Drive, please insert it now.

I've tried to google for answers on this problem, the only thing I've found is that the laptop doesn't have any SATA drivers installed and wants me to install some. However, I can't figure out how to do this. The system doesn't see another USB drive with drivers on it, and if I copy drivers to the root of the USB from which I'm booting it also fails to find the drivers. How can I resolve my problem? Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I ordered a dell inspiron n5110 a week back, which came pre-installed with windows 7 home premium 64bit and other dell softwares, however my packaging only contained a driver dvd, no other recovery media.

Like many other unlucky fellows I tried to install Windows XP sp2 on the machine by deleting the partition on which windows 7 was installed, (But I did not touch the Recovery and dellutility partitions) only to figure out that the drivers included in the dvd do not support XP. Now I tried to restore the system back to Windows7 via F8 route, but no repair option appeared. I am feeling utterly helpless now. I am including some of the details that may be helpful for you to guide me.

My system now has WINDOWS folder under label D. The 100mb dellutility fat16 partition is still hidden. The recovery partition (NTFS, around 10gb, which was invisible earlier) is labelled C. It cannot be opened by double clicking, but when I right click and explore, and enable hidden and system folder view, it shows the following files and directories.

Folders under Recovery or C:
Boot (includes BCD, BCDlog1, BCDlog2 , bootstat, memtest etc.)
Dell (Includes Image folder having the 6.5gb factory.wim file inside)
Imaging (includes imagex, facimg, wimgapi.dll, wimscript.ini and a couple of other dll files)
Preload(includes 6.5gb base.wim, base.dat, all.crc, csp.dat, desc)
Recovery(includes a system32 folder having an xml file, a WindowsRE folder containing boot.sdi and a 300 mb winre.w... Read more

Answer:Windows 7 Restore after installing XP on dell inspiron n5110

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

It's water under the bridge, but the first thing you should have done is create a set of recovery discs.

The first thing I'd do is contact Dell Support and explain you were unable to create your recovery disks, and that you can't get into your system, but don't let on you installed XP as that will invalidate your warranty.

With a bit of luck, they'll send you a set of recovery discs.

Hi
I have formatted my laptop and done a fresh install of Windows 8 x64 Release Version (from MSDN), and I am unable to connect to the internet. My laptop picks up the wireless with no problems, but whenever I try to open a webpage I get the message - "You are not connected".
Other PC's and device connected to the wireless are able to access the internet with no problem and my laptop was previously able to connect when it was running Windows 7. Does anyone have any ideas of what could be wrong?
Thanks!

Hi friend!
Maybe try reinstalling your wireless drivers, if you remember what they are called. Contact your Laptop's manufacturer or look up your model.

only 1 usb port is working. the drivers from Dell/Drivers - didn't solved that issue.
2. and another problem - the battery is not charging - it's status is:
0% available (Plugged in, charging).
I read that I have to update the bios, but to update the bios I need at least 10% battery.
Thank's for your help.

Answer:1. dell inspiron n5110 usb 3.0 port not working on windows 10 64 bit

The problem with the Renesas controller and Windows 10 is known --
answers.microsoft.com/.../d3f46427-110a-47dd-8cd8-58b85943473e
For the other issue, does the system correctly identify the AC adapter (f2 at powerup to check).  If the adapter shows "unknown", you have a bad AC adapter, power jack or mainboard.  A BIOS update will not solve this - replace parts in that order.
If the adapter IS recognized but the battery won't charge - particularly if the system is on its original battery, which is now 5-6 years old - it's time for a new battery.  They do wear out over time -and anything beyond 3 years or so has had a good, long life.

This has been happening for 2 years, but as of earlier this month, my audio has been acting up MUCH more than it used to. Now, whenever I listen to any sound (music, watch videos, etc.) my speakers make this crackling/buzzing/stutter/lag sound every few seconds which makes me never want to use my audio because it is so annoying. I looked up this problem and many people mentioned that by using earphones the buzzing stops, but not for me. Also, I installed and uninstalled a bunch of the drivers that Dell told me to update (IDT Audio, Quickset64, and the BIOS) but this hasn't made any difference. I feel like this is a software problem but I wanted to hear professional opinions to see if it actually is.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Answer:Crackling noise in audio on both speakers and headphones

Hi dmang24,
I appreciate for the drivers update. I suggest that you run diagnostics on hardware components, since both speaker and headphones are having crackling noise even after drivers update.
To run diagnostics restart the system and at the Dell logo tap the F12 key every two seconds. This will start the One-time boot menu. Using arrow keys select ‘Diagnostics’ and hit enter. This will run diagnostics on the hardware components of the system which may take around 5 minutes. Please reply to this post in case of any error message.

Good day,

before of you read, sorry for my bad english :D

ok, i have the old pc HP Compaq 6735s oldiest model and have problem.. I have the headset Plantronics .Audio 655 DSP... Its USB (no Jack) headset, but sound is crackly and randomly.. Microphone is good, no problem, also speakers... I tested in another pc, and work correctly (Win 7), also in WIN XP not installed drivers.. I telled the makers of headset and reply is here:

Quote:

So in the Windows 8 now it does not work? It was not an XP as I said? In that case it is most likely incompatible. Think about that the headset is made years ago while Windows 8 just released. Contact Microsoft and check if they have any updates to the USB drivers that will be able to use older USB devices?

I tested reinstall USB drivers, not work.. I tested install sound drivers, but for Win 8 not found...

Answer:Windows 8: Speakers have crackling sound

Hello GAMELASTER and welcome to TSF,

Your USB headset does not rely on the Audio chipset.

The Plantronics website touts it as not needing software... I can't find any issues similar to yours by searching the WWW, so I have no base to work from.

Just so I am clear... You are running Windows 8 on a Compaq 6735s?

Try using a different USB port.

Have you had any other issues since upgrading to Windows 8?

Since I updated my Inspiron 15R SE to Windows 10 I am having a problem with my sound, in that I have to manually change between speakers and headphones any time I want to switch my sound output.
When I used to plug my headphones in I got a popup asking me to select what I had plugged in, but that disappeared too.
I also now get a popup on startup saying that a Conexant audio device could not be found and the application will now exit.
I have looked in Device Manager under Sound, Video and Game Controllers as I have seen suggested elsewhere but the only two options there are High Definition Audio Device and Intel Display Audio, neither of which seem to be any help.
Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can give.

Answer:Inspiron 15R SE won't automatically switch from headphones to speakers since updating to Windows 10

bwl17the only two options there are High Definition Audio Device and Intel Display Audio
Hello. When you installed the new operating system, it removed your Conexant audio driver, and installed its own native driver. "High Definition Audio Device" is the native driver. Display Audio is the driver for HDMI audio -- that one is only a factor when your have an HDMI cable attached to the laptop.
You can download and install the Conexant audio driver from your Dell support page. If your laptop model is Inspiron 15R SE 7520, then this is the Win10 Conexant driver for that model.
bwl17When I used to plug my headphones in I got a popup asking me to select what I had plugged in, but that disappeared too.
If the Conexant Win10 driver doesn't give you the options you had before you changed operating systems, then get the driver you were using with your previous operating system, and install it using compatibility mode. You can see links to all of the available drivers for the Inspiron 7520 here.

I've had my Dell Inspiron 24-7459 computer for about a month.  Sound was coming from the internal speakers but now the sound no longer works.  I've tried the volume, mute features with no luck.  Should I be trying something different?

Answer:Dell Inspiron 24-7459 has no sound coming from speakers

tiger28the internal speakers
Hello. Did you plug in headphones or external speakers to check whether audio is coming through the headphone jack?
If audio is coming through the jack but not the internal speakers, run the ePSA audio test to see if the speakers have failed.
If there is no audio from either the speakers or jack then the problem is not the speakers, so try reinstalling the audio driver. Open the Device Manager and expand the Sounds...Controllers section. Right click on Realtek HD Audio and select to uninstall. Do not put a check mark in the option to delete the files. When you reboot, Windows will re-install the Realtek driver by rebuilding it from the files. The point of doing that is the rebuilt driver will have the default configuration which will correct any misconfiguration issue.
If that doesn't fix it the next step would be to install a fresh copy of the driver from the support page.

Hi guys!
When I turn off the laptop by using shut down or hibernate there's a loud white noise in the external  active speakers which are connected via audio/jack cable.. Hello, So I have got a Dell inspiron N5110 with an i7 intel core in 2013, and I don't remember opening it, falling from me or even giving it to a child. Yesterday I noticed that it is overheating through a tempreature reader software, I just did this test because I noticed it heated only after ten minutes from opening it; anyways, I noticed that it reaches 81 degrees celcius in just 10 minutes from opening it and this was very dangerous, so I tried to fix it by doing the following:-
1- Decreasing the "Maximum proccesor state".2- Shutting down the laptop and removing SD cards, USBs, the battery and the charger and pressing the power button for 20 seconds.3- I scanned for malwares using "Malware bytes 12" and viruses using "ESET NOD32 Antivirus 9" and the laptop was absolutely maleware and virus FREE.4- I ran the CPU diagnostics and I didn't have any errors.5- I tried buying a new charger.6- I tried using the laptop without the battery.
And after all of these attempts, nothing happens, so I want anybody to try and help me out.
Thank You,

Hey guys!!! Plz hlp me wid dis stuff. I'm stucked in making HDD Partition in my Dell Inspiron N5110. There was 2 Partitions of HDD during the tym of puchase my laptop. The retailer too said me dat it was unable to make a 3rd partition. So I tried to make a partition by my own. I tried in 2 ways: 1) During Boot time by booting 4m win7 DVD & another by going through the disc management (diskmgmt.msc). During the tym of Boot the Unallocated space remaining 4 the 3rd partition has it's New option inactive. Therefore I failed to make a partition there. 2) Inside the disk management, 1st I shrinked my Volume1 (My C:\ drive of 135 GB) to nearly 77 GB and the rest 58 GB was unallocated. When I tried to make a new Volume (Unallocated Space>Right-click>New Volume) It says me dat "You cannot create a New Volume in this unallocated space because the disk already contains the maximum number of partitions" .Plz hlp me. What 2 do?

Answer:Dell inspiron N5110 HDD Partition

This is very interesting.

I would recommend completely formatting the HDD. Remove everything. Then, use an advanced partition editor (gParted or Partition Magic) to create the partitions you need.

Backup your data first, though....

Hi all,

My troubles began about a week ago when I needed to print some forms and that I had had it with my laptop not printing (despite recognizing my printer and even allowing it to print a test page from within the printer maintenance software). So I began fiddling...well now everything is messed up.

A description of symptoms:
1) My sound has a 'delay' for lack of a better word. Say an alert pop up comes up, it is 1-2 seconds later when the alert sound plays.

2) Flash games are severely delayed and I keep getting shockwave errors stalling my Firefox. I am also getting the occasional flash plug in crash notice (even if not attempting to play games)

3) I am able to watch videos/listen to music on my computer with minimal interference, but cannot use Spotify streaming as the sound has gone wonky (very high pitched digitized, skippy, etc.)

4) There is a delay between the time I click a button and it actually reacts, so where opening firefox used to take a few seconds, it now takes half a minute. Switching tabs used to be instant, it now has to think about it.

5) CPU is running hot, too hot. I borrowed my fiance's laptop pad with a fan and thankfully it brought it down from 74C to under 69C, but the fan is still running constantly. He's bringing home a can of air to give it a proper cleaning tonight (as the one I had only gave me one quick spray before running out). It has always run a bit hot, but this constant running is new to this we... Read more

Hi there. I have Dell Inspiron N5110 (i5-2410M 2.3GHz, nVidia 525M 1Gb RAM, 4 Gb PC3-10600 RAM (now upgraded - 8 Gb)).Can I change my CPU to a more powerful? i7-2670QM 2.2GHz or i7-2720QM, for example?Regards, Lorraine.

Answer:Dell Inspiron N5110 CPU Upgrade

In most cases, no - you cannot.  The systems that ship with i7 CPUs have a different system board and require a more powerful AC adapter.  You may be able to run a faster i5, but the i7s usually require a different system board.
Upgrading the CPU will also void your warranty.

I have a white screen upon startup. I was able to use my laptop when plugging the VGA cable in the back to an external monitor but that only works with a few tries.
I notice if i put my laptop on sleep for less than 2 hours the external monitor works.
Any time longer and I have to start the process of removing and inserting the plug and playing with my external monitor so it can detect a signal, it usually takes a few tries and a few minutes.
The white screen is always on my laptop throughout the process and even when the external monitor works.
Just determining if i should replace me screen or ribbon video cable or check my connection to my vga cable or could it be my motherboard.

any help or direction is appreciated.

Answer:Dell Inspiron 15R N5110 screen problem - white screen & external monitor works if I jiggle the plug

Hi FMIT,
We need to isolate if the issue is with the LCD or the video card. So, turn off the system - press and hold the "d" + power key to turn it back on - this should initiate the LCD built in self test. You should see a screen with solid changing colors and the system would beep. If you see this - the LCD is fine. If you do not see the colors changing - then repeat the step again - but this time - swivel the LCD back and forth and see if there is any display. If the display is intermittent then the LCD cable needs reseating/replacing.
Also, turn off the system and press and hold the "fn" key + power button to turn it back on - wait for a few minutes. If you do not see any display, the system should start beeping. Count the number of beeps per cycle. At any point if you see the screen with solid colors changing - the LCD is fine. The issue is with the video card/motherboard. If do not see the changing colors - then we would suspect the LCD.
Test the system with another VGA cable for the external monitor.
If the system is under warranty, then please send me the service tag of the system and your contact details through a private conversation. Or you could use twitter - @dellcares - we can DM through twitter and help you fix the issue.
Keep us updated.

Hi all,

I just bought an old Toshiba A210 laptop and I'm dealing with a couple of (minor) problems. As the title says, I've tried every conceivable control, I can't get any sound from the speakers. No hissing sound, nothing, completely silent. Headphones work fine though.

I checked device manager and drivers, it's a Realtek driver, I went to Toshiba and saw that I have the latest driver for Win 7.

Any ideas what kind of problem this is? hardware probably?

This laptop had Win 7 Ultimate installed over Vista.

I probably need to try some nice USB speakers anyway though

Considering its a used laptop, it wouldn't surprise me that one of the reasons it was being sold is the speaker problem.

Hey guys,I have a Dell T3500 PC running windows 7 which used to work perfectly until a few days ago, I had to reset BIOS cause my PC wasn't booting up. That did fix it, however i lost audio in Windows. No matter what i do, windows cant recognize any headphones or speakers plugged in the front or the back 3.5mm jack. Same goes for microphones etc. Ive tried:Reinstalling WindowsInstalling the Dell OEM Analog Devices ADI 198x Integrated HD Audio (Never worked, "Your hardware is not supported error") Clean install of Windows 10Booting in Safe modeDell Audio Diagnostics (returned with an error)BIOS update to A17 from A10
The front and the back USB ports work just fine.Ive tried to look into BIOS to see if any onboard audio settings have been disabled, but i only found one checkbox "Audio" under miscellaneous devices. Which was already enabled.Specs:Intel Xeon W3550Amd R7 3608GB RAMNo sound card etc.
Really appreciate any help, thanks alot!

Answer:Windows cant recognize Speakers or Headphones on Dell T3500

Windows 10 will NOT recognize Older Drivers without installing Older patches.  This system can also come with a PCI-E Soundcard.   You cant use Analog Devices Soundmax with a creative labs sound card like that installed. You have to install Directx June 2010 patch as well as Add features back to windows specifically DOT NET 3.5 and Legacy Direct play.  After all this Junk you uninstall the audio driver and reboot.  Then REINSTALL Audio Driver as administrator.
You have to install Legacy Direct play and DX9 and DX10 drivers from the Directx June 2010 patch.
You download the file and extract to a folder then run DXSETUP.EXE as administrator.
Before previous drivers will work in windows7 or 8 or 10 you have to enable legacy features like DOTNET 2.0 3.5  and Directshow.  You must then install DIRECTX JUNE 2010 DRIVERS by downloading the file and extracting into a folder and running DXSETUP.exe.
Directx June 2010 which you download and extract to a FOLDER then run DXsetup.exe as administrator.

Hi ladies and gents,

I have a gateway NV5378 and with a conexant high definition audio

and I'm get a crackling noise when I use headphones and only when I use headphones. I of course tried using other ones to see if its my headphones, but regardless of what i am using i still get that damn cracking. I've tried updating my drivers, when I use a equalizer in itunes or vlc it helps to an extent, but its still there.

It's driving me crazy, i would be so thankful for any ideas how to fix this problem.

Answer:Sound crackling when i'm useing headphones

Try plugging and unplugging the headphone connector several times, if it's a poor socket connection this might clean it up.

I'm having problems when I plug my headphones into the headphone socket, sound comes through both the headphones and the speakers.

It hasn't always done this, only for a few months and i've been trying to find out how to fix it for a long time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

thanks.

Answer:Satelline Pro A200: When headphones are connected sound comes through headphones + speakers

Maybe your headphone jack is faulty.
Usually the tiny switch which is placed in the headphone socket should disable the speaker?s functionality if the headphone was plugged in.
If this switch doesn?t functions correctly then the sound could comes through the speakers too?

I think this is a ASP case and the notebook technicians should check this?

Good luck

I have a Dell Inspiron 12-5378 Signature Edition computer, and I recently bought SkullCandy Crusher headphones. The headphones do not seem to be working and are not even showing up in my playback devices. I'm wondering if there is something that I can do to get them working?
My other question is that the Mic Cable for the SkullCandy headphones is 3.5mm plug which seems to be sticking out a tiny bit when I plug it in. Is it possible that the computer isn't recognizing the device because the plug is too long? I can't seem to find any detailed specs on the headphone jack for this computer. If this is the issue, does anyone have an adapter they recommend?
Is the issue my headphones or the laptop?
Thanks

Answer:Dell Inspiron 13-5378 Headphones Not Working (with new SkullCandy Crusher headphones)

Hello. Push the plug extra firmly into the jack and see if it can go in the rest of the way.  When it is detected, you should get a popup asking you to select the type of device you are using.
There aren't any detailed specs from Dell about the combo jack, just general information that we pass along on this discussion board. We have been getting reports from owners that the jacks on some late model Dell are tight.

Hello,
Its been almost six years since I have Inspiron N5110 and never before have I had problems with installing it, be it drivers or reinstallation of Windows.
However, these days I reinstalled the system, Windows 7 x64, and I'm not able to make audio function. I tried the driver proposed by dell.com, it didn't work. I tried, also, other drivers, those failed too.
Now, I don't know what's really a problem here, when I go to system (menage), apparently the audio is there, installed, however at the right bottom there's a red X clearly showing that the audio doesn't exist.
As I said, this is the first time I am facing a problem like this and it's been two days since I'm trying to find a solution to it, but without success.
Can anyone, please, help?
Thank you!

Answer:N5110 NR15 Inspiron, windows 7 X64, audio installation problem

Milan86I reinstalled the system, Windows 7 x64,
Hello. If you "reinstalled the system" by reverting it to the original factory configuration (called the Factory Image on page 72 of the Setup Guide), and if the audio doesn't work after doing that, then the audio hardware has failed.
If you "reinstalled the system" by using the System Recovery media that you created when the laptop was brand new (page 71 of the Setup Guide), and if the audio doesn't work after doing that, then the audio hardware has failed.
If you "reinstalled the system" by using Windows installation discs, then the audio should have worked before you installed the IDT audio driver, because Windows 7 contains a native audio driver and doesn't need the IDT driver in order for the audio to work.
Look in the Windows Sound dialog. On the Playback tab you should see "Speakers" or "Speakers/Headphones".
If you see the words IDT High Definition Audio Codec then the IDT driver is installed. If you see the words High Definition Audio Device then the Windows native audio driver is installed.
Here is a hardware test you can try:
> Re-start the computer and tap the F12 key as soon as it starts to boot up. If the computer boots to Windows re-start the computer and try again.
> Select 'Diagnostics' from the boot menu, then press the Enter key. Either the ePSA or the PSA tests will open -- it depends on the model of your laptop.

I have A11 bios version and when i try to downgrade to A09 it says "Dell does not recommend flashing your bios to an older version". I now i can flash it using the /forceit command but will it work or will i brick my laptop? Have anyone ever downgraded this particular model from A11 to A09?

Answer:Can i downgrade bios from A11 to A09 in Dell Inspiron 15R N5110?

Hi Legion of Doom,
Dell doesn’t recommend downgrading of BIOS, when you downgrade the BIOS from A 11 BIOS version to A 09 BIOS version. In case the BIOS downgrade fails and computer does not post; then the computer will not be covered under warranty.

Hi
My Dell Inspiron N5110 works just fine if I plug it into the AC power without putting the battery in but if I put the battery in it crashes immediately and will neither charge or boot. It has become a desk bound laptop but hopefully there is a fix that can set it free again...

Answer:Dell Inspiron N5110 - Won't work with battery

Hi DELLICIOUSDAYS,
Are you using an original Dell OEM Adapter and battery? Is the adapter frayed? Is there any damage on the system? Could you test with another power adapter and battery?
Try flashing the BIOS if possible - http://dell.to/1JZP8qH- restart and check.
Although you would need the battery and adapter to be connected to flash the BIOS. So, you might need to test with another battery.
If another good known battery exhibits the same behavior on the system, then the motherboard might be faulty.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private conversation with the service tag and your Name for case records.
You could contact our team to get a quote for a paid service call - http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ

Hello everyone,
I have a Dell Inspiron N5110 laptop and for a few years I haven't been able to get my USB 3.0 ports to work. I believe I might have messed up the driver installations when I first got the laptop.
I got a new hard drive lately and decided to test my USB 3.0 ports before installing Windows 7 because I will really need them for work soon, so I tried them on Windows 8.1. They worked automatically without having to install any driver (I think 8.1 has its own 3.0 pilots?)
So I formatted my hard drive and installed my Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bits. I downloaded all the pilots from this page (www.dell.com/.../drivers) in another computer and placed them on a flash drive.
After installing Windows 7 and booting for the first time, I tried my best to follow the order explained here: www.dell.com/.../how-to-reinstall-drivers-in-the-correct-order
I started with Dell System Software Utility (DSS_UTIL_WIN_R282538)
Then Intel Management Engine Interface Driver (R292194)
Then Intel HM67 Express Chipset Family Driver (R292253)
Then Wistron USB 3.0 Host Controller Driver (R309746)
And after each driver installation, I would reboot my laptop. But when installing the Wistron driver, the R309746 file extracted itself and then nothing happened. So I went to the C:\dell\drivers\R309746 folder and tried to launch "setup.exe" again from there, with admin rights, I received the window of "This program might now have installed correctly" and I had two options, &q... Answer:Dell Inspiron N5110 Hard Drive 0

Hello!  It looks like your hard drive is/has gone bad.  You will need to replace it.  Depending on where you live, there should be computer repair shops in your city/town that can help you.  Dell might be able to do it but it would cost a bit more as your computer is more then likely out of warranty.

I'm trying to do a factory reset on my Dell laptop. I didn't receive a CD when I bought it so I tried doing it through the BIOS. I hit F8 repeatedly and got to the repair your computer screen. I selected that option and then it shows a screen that says Windows loading files. Unfortunately, after that it just freezes once the loading bar is full. Then after maybe 10 minutes it goes to resuming Windows normally (I assume a time out of some sort). Is there another way to do a factory reset? Like I said I don't have the CD because it didn't come with it. Or maybe I'm doing something wrong? Thanks

Answer:Dell Inspiron N5110 Factory Reset Help

Hi yuanaug,
Dell does not ship any factory recovery discs for systems. There is a ‘Dell DataSafe Local Backup’ application installed in the system wherein you could create recovery discs. Please follow the steps below to restore the computer to factory state.

Turn on the computer, after the Dell Logo appears and then disappears repeatedly press the <F8> key until you see the Advanced Boot Options menu.
From the Advanced Boot Options highlight Repair Your Computer with the arrow keys and press <ENTER>.
Click ‘Next’ and login to your administrator account on the computer. The administrator account is the account created the first time the computer was turned on.
Click ‘Dell Factory Image Recovery and DataSafe options’ and follow the prompts provided.

If the above steps are not working and your system is booting into the operating system then follow the steps in the link given below to create a factory recovery discs and use the discs to restore the computer to factory state.
http://dell.to/rXS9BO
If the computer is not booting into the operating system then I am afraid you will have to perform manual operating system reinstallation from the operating system discs.
Please let me know if this helps.

I have a Inspiron N5110 which beeps 8 times on start up and nothing comes up on the display, external monitor works fine.  I replaced the lcd and the same thing.  Is there sometining else I should be looking at??

Answer:Dell Inspiron n5110 - 8 beeps on start up

Eight beeps means a display failure.
Since the external monitor works, you know it's not a fault with the video card.
With the notebook off, hold down the "D" key and power the notebook on.  If you get solid colors on the screen, then you know the LCD is good.  I would look for a problem with the video cable.  Just resently, someone found that the front bezel was creating a problem with the video cable.

Hello,

After re-installing Windows 7 on my 1,5 years old Dell Inspiron N5110 laptop, my laptop won't shut down anymore.
The laptop has every symptom of shutting down, it will do all of the updates when there are, the screen will go black after 'shutting down'.
But the laptop will always be making those 'think' noises. Also there are some of the lights still on. After it gets in this 'state', I'm also unable to turn on my laptop again.

It will turn off when I push on my off button for like 5-10 seconds.
But that won't be too good for my laptop doing that all the time...

Now, my laptop will get in sleeping state, but than again.. I can't wake him up again.

Edit: I forgot to say, since a few days, it will just 'turn off' out of nowhere.

Is there anyone who experienced this before, or who can just help me out?
The nice Dell Support won't help me in any other way then by using the phone, but that doesn't seem like a perfect way of solving a problem in my opinion, therefore I'm asking your help.

Hope you get this, my English aint too good.

Thanks,

I have had my dell inspiron for 5 years now. two years ago, I dropped it and the LCD shattered. I purchased a new LCD from Amazon and took it to a PC repair store nearby. (Fry's Electronics was the first choice but couldn't install the LCD due to liability issues.) I got my computer back and it worked perfectly. Now fast forward a month later and i haven't used it in about 2 weeks. I go to start up and the screen is black, I check the brightness and that didn't seem to be the problem, then i see that the LCD is fine but the backlight is very dim and keeps flickering like a light about to burn out. Could this problem be hardware and a part stopped functioning?(motherboard/inverter I hear are common culprits) Or could this be a software issue?

Hi everyone,
I've a problem with a DELL Inspiron N5110.
When I turn on the laptop, the fan is working for 15 seconds then it turns off by itself.. but the Windows boots properly and the other components work fine.
I know that I can't use my laptop if the CPU fan doesn't work because it will overheat the cpu and the motherboard so..
Could you please give me an opinion ?
Thank you

Answer:Dell Inspiron N5110 CPU Fan doesn't work

The fan will spin at powerup self test time, and then won't come on (or run at full speed) until a temperature setpoint is reached.
Depending on who replaced the mainboard, verify that the thermal pads were replaced when the heatsink was removed from the system.  If that part was not replaced, the system will run very warm.

Answer:Dell Inspiron N5110 not connecting to Internet

What firewall / security suite or anti-virus do you currently have on the PC - or you have ever had on the PC in the past - any trial ware - like Norton, Mcafee , AVG , Webroot etc

can we see an ipconfig /all
------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

This should also work for windows 8
Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box
(A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results into notepad and then automatically open the notepad and display on your screen.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results into a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will now be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu ... Read more

Hello all,
I have two Dell Inspiron N5110 from 2011, one with a core i3 and one with a core i5 processor. To my knowledge that is the only difference between the two machines. I have tried the dell support site for a list of parts to check this but was unable to get the component list for one of them.
Any way, my problem is that one of the laptop (mine) has broken plastic around one of the screen hinges causing it to constantly fall unless at 90 degrees to the base and it also has a dodgy headphone jack that has moved away from the casing meaning it no longer works properly. My question is; as the circuit board with the headphone port is below the motherboard, would I be able to move the motherboard from the laptop with the issues over onto the laptop, and thereby utilize the fully functioning case, without causing any problems in the software of the hard drive and mother board.
Otherwise I'll just move the screen over.
Any advice appreciated

Maximum temps achieved while running AIDA64 System Stability test (using both GPUs and CPU at 100%) : 90 degrees Celsius.
Maximum GPU temp in Furmark : 84 degrees Celsius.
Maximum CPU temp in Prime95 : 80 degrees Celsius.
Cooling system has been cleaned and fresh thermal paste has been applied, namely Gelid GC-Extreme 2.

The system passes all diagnostics : Dell Diagnostics (quick & full), Dell Pre-Boot Diagnostics, AIDA64 System Stability Test (1h), Gold Memory&MemTest 86, Furmark, Prime95, basically anything you throw at it.

The freezes occur usually during normal operation : browsing the web, browsing the hard drive, downloading files using your browser.
The biggest number of freezes occurred after a fresh install of Windows 7 and using Firefox/IE to download the nVidia drivers.

Answer:Dell laptop inspiron n5110 is not turned off after shutdown

***SOLUTION***This is a hardware problem, not a software problem. I am running the factory Win 7 home x64 and dual booting Ubuntu 12.04 x64, with this exact problem in both OS's.What I did is I took out the keyboard and the palm rest (there should be a tear down guide put out by Dell) and you should see a coin cell battery. I took it out for about 10 seconds and then put it back in. I also checked all the other connections and removed and reseated the HDD. I then went into BIOS and made sure there weren't any funky settings. It now shuts down, suspends, and wakes properly (only tested in Ubuntu 12.04)I have no clue how or why, but that's what did it.

Answer:Wireless not connecting Dell Inspiron N5110 to router

Disable encryption on the router and try to connect. If successful you can probably re-enable encryption and reconnect.

Answer:Usb port not working on dell inspiron laptop N5110

Is the USB port recognized in Device Manager? How many devices have you tried in the USB port?Make sure the power saving feature is disabled for the port, Windows automatically cuts power to some USB ports to save battery life...and it might not recognize that it needs to turn the power back on when you insert a device.Read this:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/...User Info Page Biography for full specs.

Answer:download webcam drivers for dell inspiron n5110

Okaaaaaay. I obviously have done that too. Nothing has happened. I have done everything you have told me and NOTHING works.

I'm sorry, but every one of your "suggestions" are things I did before coming to this forum.

Please take the time and help me address this issue rather than reading from a trouble shooting guide.

Thank you.

I am working on a Dell Inspiron N5110 laptop. The computer had a failing hard drive so I dissasembled it and replaced the hard drive. Note that with this model the entire laptop has to be taken apart. The motherboard has to be removed and turned over to where the hard drive is mounted directly to the motherboard.

I originally wrote the following notes that are in italics just to keep my thoughts straight. Then afterwards I discovered that this screen uses an LED backlight.

I replaced the hard drive and found that the screen is now dark. Please also note that I am very careful about static and use all the safety equipment to prevent any damage it may cause. I can direct the video to a remote monitor and everything is fine. The dark screen acts as if the backlight has gone bad or possibly the inverter. You can use a flashlight and see the images on the screen. One thing to note is that I then restored a factory install to the hard drive so that I could run some of the diagnostics that come with the laptop. For instance if you hold down the D key while pressing the power button it goes directly into a video test. The beginning of the test is dark, but when it gets to the color screen tests, such as green, blue, etc. the screen lights up as if nothing was wrong with it. This only lasts until the system is restarted.

I have googled several sites discussing this problem, a few of which stated that all they did was replace the hard drive and had the same thing happen to the... Read more

Answer:Dell Inspiron N5110 dark screen after HDD replacement

<SOLVED> I Had this problem with a clients computer yesterday. The (western digital 500gb) hard drive was failing so I replaced it with an hgst. Cloned the drives.
An hour or so later the screen suddenly went dim by 50% or more. I thought the screen was going to sleep, but when I moved the mouse and tried FN-Brightness adjustment, nothing happened.

I rebooted and noticed that the screen would dim after the mouse cursor popped up on the screen. This happened every time I rebooted. This made me believe it was a driver, or software driven dimming.
Also, initially the screen would not dim in Safe Mode, but later after a few reboots it just stayed dim, and no longer was bright before the cursor emerged.

Tested the fuse next to the video ribbon cable and it was okay. Checked the ribbon cable connection on both sides. Ok.
I searched through online threads which mostly described this issue arising after HDD change-outs.

So I decided to change the hard drive again but with the same brand (western digital) as the original drive and BAM! fixed. No more dim screen.
Clean install this time.

The Dell N5110 Motherboard must have a glitch with certain hard drives, or hard drive voltages. Try changing the hard drive out before attempting to install a new motherboard.
