Ideapad Z510 battery problem is occurring again - please provide updated firmware again

Question: Ideapad Z510 battery problem is occurring again - please provide updated firmware again

Dear Lenovo, After perusing the recent 2016/2017 comments by multiple users on similar posts about Ideapad Z510 battery from across locations/countries - it appears that the firmware that you had issued last year - has somehow got overwritten / superceded maybe in either late 2016 or early 2017 by some more recent/latest updates. I am writing from India and facing the same probem that the battery is showing 100% and then going off almost immediately. This probem had fortunately got solved last year when you had issued a firmware update - but now when i am trying to use the same files again - it basically conveys that "no battery available to update" because that particular firmware is already applied on our laptop. Hence, can you please release newer firmware update for this same issue - using a z510 system having current till-date updates for different OS - win 7 / 8 / 8.1 / 10 - same way as you have released for thinkpad series of laptops too on the weblink - http://support.lenovo.com/in/en/downloads/ds001322 Come to think of it - that if a fully working battery is being "prompted" as weak and "need to buy" - but actually is a fully functioning hardware - isnt it a bit of a letdown for your users??? - what to say of some who might have already bought and replaced with newer replacement batteries - which is actually a completely avoidable cost? I am sure you need to resolve this issue soon so as to restore confidence that you are not only a big brand but also a responsive brand - who is reading and resolving its forum posts!!! thanks in advance.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer:Ideapad Z-500 - Battery firmware updated but still battery not charging

hi Aledef,

If you have the Lenovo Energy Management installed, can you check the following:

1. For Windows 7:
Ensure that Maximum Battery Life is selected

For Windows 8:
Ensure that Conservation Mode is disabled.

2. Uninstall the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method under the Device Manager > Battery
   - Link to picture

When finished, reboot the machine and observe if the battery is now charing above 59%. If the problem remains, try charging the battery while the computer (about 30mins) and see if it goes pass the 59% mark.

If the problem persists, I recommend you contact lenovo on how to go about getting a replacement battery.

Hello everybody, Last week I installed Windows 10 64bit on my laptop (Ideapad z510). The first time my laptop suddenly powered off, but the battery was far from empty according to windows. When I tried to boot again it appeared that the battery was empty. I have noticed that the percentage that windows reports is incorrect. After 2 hours without power my battery was normally around 30%. Now it was still above 90%. I have power manager installed and I am using the balanced profile. Does anybody have an idea what could be wrong?

Answer:Ideapad Z510 battery problem

Hi niels194,

Thanks for Posting!

Try resetting the Battery gauge meter.
Turn OFF the computer and unplug the AC adapter.
Press the Novo or OKR Button to boot up with options.
Select Set up utility or Enter Setup
You should arrive at a page like this

Now Stay on this screen without the AC adapter plugged in until the computer shuts off itself due to power loss.
This will drain the battery to zero (May take couple of hours)

Now Plug in the AC and charge it till 100% and it should be good to go.

Regards
Solid Cruver

Answer:IDEAPAD Z510 BATTERY PROBLEM

In response to customer reports of unexpected issues with battery performance on Z500 and Z510 laptops, Lenovo is making a battery firmware update available via download from the Lenovo Forums.

This battery firmware is intended to resolve the following unexpected charging symptoms when a Z500 or Z510 laptop is powered on:

Battery is dead
Battery is not detected
Battery is detected and charged to 100% but when AC power is removed, the laptop immediately powers off
When the battery is fully charged and AC power is removed, battery level falls dramatically within 10 minutes

Please note a step-by-step procedure for upgrading the firmware is included in the .zip file, found in the "ReadMe" folder.

The battery firmware update can be downloaded here: https://download.lenovo.com/lenovo/content/sm/z500_z510_battery_firmware_update.zip

i have bought Z510 one year back, within this short time i am facing battery problem.Battery is not charging and the system to be keep in plugged condition at every use.I am a home user and use laptop for limited time.I dont understand why lenova has not provided detachable battery which can be change by user only. Now new battery is not available in the market ,moreover Lenova is simply shedding their responsibility by saying Laptop in not under warranty.I request Lenovo to go for root cause analysis of this problem as hundreds of people are facing same problem in this model.Hope Lenovo would provide some software for attending the problem or atleast give the details of service provider from where battery can be repaired/replaced.

dear sir, my name is nikhil in my laptop z510 ideapad i am facing battery problem it is not showing correct battery % and also not show batterey low warning message and it is stable at one position 99% please sir help me out from this problem .many of them his having this same problem please give some battery firmware update so to resolve this problem.it is not a hardware problem because it started from two days before previously it is working fine but now it is not working          I purchased the z510 last  july and while the battery life wasn't great on it now it has stopped working altogether. I have tried every conceivable fix for it from the forums here and none has worked. The problem that I am having is that the battery is stuck at 99% while charging and when it is off charge it will stay on for half an hour and the shut off hard without warning, it has caused me to lose progress in work. The battery gauge reset is no longer working either as it was on for hours and just kept showing 99%. I would appreciate a response back. This seems to be a problem with this make of laptop as far as Ican see.

Hi, I suddenly encountered a battery problem in my laptop, IdeaPad Y510P. It seems like other folks have the same problem in Ideapad series.   When I plug in a charger, the laptop shows that battery is charing but, it never goes above 7% (w/ max battery life mode). According to Energy Management, battery status is fine.  After searching similar issues, I think it may be a problem with firmware, but I was not able to find a firmware update for IdeaPad series, Windows 8.1.... I have been using my laptop over a year, but never had this problem before. Can you please guide me through how to fix this issue?  Thanks for your help..!

After that reboot and install it back and see if there is a difference specially on the battery status. Also basing on your statement that the unit is with you for more than a year and you have not encountered any problem except recently it would seem that a battery replacement might be in order. Again before jumping into conclusion check the ac adapter and battery based on the procedure given in your hardware maintenance manual.

Dear All, I recently got an annoying problem in my Z510.A couple of weeks ago power manager suggested me to block battery charging to 40% to keep battery safe. Now after two week I got a message that the battery is weak  and need to be replaced. I bought this laptop in june bus since I changed the HDD with and SSD (I had to open the laptop) i guess the warranty is gone (or not?). Moreover, i tried to look online where to buy a new battery but I didn't find anything. On amazon there are batteries for all the models except z5100. Do someone know where to buy (Amazon preferentially since i need a really fast delivery cause i need the laptop ready for work in 10 days) a compatible battery? It's really urgent so any answer or help is welcome.  Many thanks in advance,Ventu

Before I begin, I have to admit that I tried to find a solution in these forums but nothing worked so far or I m not sure if the firmware/bios is compatibl with my specs . So here is my issue. -I was working on my laptop without the power adapter when suddently it switched off. I had at least 40% of battery according to the indicator. -After that the battery indicator stucked to 100%, even thought you could understand that this wasn't true -Two days later the battery indicator shows 0% and some times it goes to 100% for after a short time after  I reboot. So here are my questions. -Is there any z510 firmware that solved this issue ? ( windows 8.1)-Bios upadate ?-If not, .does Lenovo work on a solution? Or knows what is wrong?-I Think I bought my laptop 11 months ago. what proceess should I follow for having the battery replaced ?  kind regardsMiko

I bought my Ideapad Z510 in March 2014, its Windows 8.1. Last few days it shows "battery is weak, needs to be replaced". The battery does not charge, I have to power through AC cable, whenever I disconnect AC, its power is gone. In order to fix the problem, I did the following taks:1. I removed MIcrosoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery, and also Microsoft AC Adapter from Battery option. But after restarting the laptop, those options always reinstalled automatically without notifying. When I open Device Manager, those options are always there though those are removed and laptop is restarted.2. I reset the Gauge, but nothing happened.  I cannot understand why Lenovo provides such a poor quality battery. It is gone after 1 year!!! I cannot believe it! I have 10 years old DELL laptop and still I can use that battery for an hour. But my new Lenovo's battery has gone just after 1 year! Its a shame. Lenovo should respond about explanation that why they provide such poor quality battery. Any idea about resolving it?

Answer:ideapad Z510 "battery weak" issue

I have the same issue, bought the laptop around march of last year, and started experiencing the problems during the start of June.  I've seen many topics with this issue, with the same response from Mods and Admins. It's basically a substandard battery issue, and the only solution Lenovo gives us is to replace the battery (which are expensive with the relative cost of the laptop), and that doesn't even give us assurance that this issue will not happen again in a year or so. Very disappointing.

Hi.I have some issue with my Ideapad Z510.When AC adapter is plugged in, everythink seems fine, and work properly.Problem starts when i disable AC adapter form my komputer, then performance of it drasticly low. It doesnt matter that i have put my charge pan on high performance, every single options is on high performance and still its lagy and low. When i put AC adapter, everything back to normal. Dont know if its issue only by me ? or by this model ? how to chenge it to get full performance on battery ? i dont care than energy will be eaten very fast, it doesn matter. What matter for me is that i need to have full performance on battery, same as like on AC adapeter switche on. Thank you for answer and help.

Answer:Ideapad Z510 low performance on battery mode

I have some info. I tested it. And what i found is:When i put AC adapter in laptop i have full power, then i disable AC adapter and power is lost, then i chage power managin to low, and change again to high performance ... and what i get ? i get full power without AC adapter. Next i put AC adapter into laptop and disable it, and again...low power, and again i change in power management to low and to high...and again i get high without cable. So what i can tell you ? Its not battery issue, because i can make it that it will work on battery on high performance. Its software problem. Tell me how to repair it ? Becuase when i turn on laptop without AC adapter, it doesnt matter what i switch in power management, it will dont go on maks power, after plug in ac adapter, power is back, and now i can disable it and change managment to low and high performance and its ok. Pls help

Answer:Ideapad Z400, Z500, Z510 battery will not charge -...

Hi CuriousFox ,

Greetings.

To isolate fastest is to have another battery to use or charging the original battery on a known working compatible laptop.
The power checkout guide of the hardware machine manual provides steps to check battery charging integrity (example form Z510 manual page 21) .

You can also try plugging the laptop but not turning it on for 1-2 hours checking if there would be changes with the battery indicator LED.

Would it be the same using similar energy manager and operating system that came originally with the machine?
How is the battery health and battery report?

Update us how it goes.

Hello,I have 3 quick issues.  I own a Lenovo IdeaPad Z510 laptop, which I recieved in December of 2013. When I first turned it on, everything worked, except that a screen popped up that says that the adapter is not fully capable of charging the laptop, and had a hyperlink to open  a windows to buy another battery/charger. Which I didn't particularly care for, until I went to the website. After looking around, I realized that there was, in fact, no available adapter/charger/battery to purchase for the Z510. After owning for several months, it no longer appears every time I turn it on. However, it will sporadically reappear and I wanted to know if anyone else had the same problem. When I turn my laptop off, it says that some programs are still running, and proceeds to show me what appears to be a picture of a blank window (it has no identification stating what the program is). I cancel the shutdown, but everytime I look for the program, I can't seem to find it. After scouring the internet, I have concluded that the said program is Intel Services Manager. I am unsure how to either uninstall/turn off the program so that it will stop showing up everytime I try turning my laptop off. Last question!Recently, when I started turning my laptop on, it wouldn't go to the lock screen. (I am running the most up-to-date Windows 8). It shows that black screen with the white Lenovo print, but does not go on from there. Only after I turn off the laptop and hold down th... Read more

I have two Lenovo Y40-70 computers that I purchased within a couple weeks of each other.  They came with Windows 8.1 but I upgraded to Windows 10. A few months ago, I noticed that my computer battery meter was reading 100% for an hour.  I continued to work unplugged until the battery died while still reading 100%.  I recharged and the battery again read 100% for more than a couple hours, then died.  So the battery lifetime is as good as always, but the reading is not right.  When I reboot, it still reads 100%. Strangely, the second system, whcih I had not used for a while, was OK, but a few days later, it started doing the same thing (though it was reading 87%, the charge when the computer last worked right.  I suscpect that this happened after a critical update, which the second system went through later. Recently, I downloaded from the Lenovo website the newer power management software on both computers, and it did not help. Then I noticed the Battery recall so downloaded the "Lenovo Battery Utility 2015" to see if my system was afffected by the problem.  When I run the utility, I get the mssage "No Battery Detect."  So it would appear that there may be an issue with the software detecting the batter. Since I can't know the state of the battery (it appears to not want to recharge until it's empty, I gues because it thinks it's 100% charged), I cannot count on this computer when it's not plugged in. Now I ... Hello, I have a 3 yr old Ideapad Z510(that came with Win8)which worked absolutely fine until recently. If I plug in the charger when the laptop is on, it abruptly turns off and would never boot again until I remove the charger. However, this is not how it behaves every time. There are some rare instances where I could still operate the machine with charger plugged in.  When turned off, battery is charging and also goes to full 100%. When turned on(battery mode) it does not drain rapidly - I could still get a fairly decent stand up time. So I am assuming the battery is good. I don't see any thermal issues either. Things I tried:-------------- > Tried with a different charger - no help.> Updated the firmware - no help.> Update the entire driver pack - no help.> Applied windows patches, reinstalled and also upgraded windows to Win 10 - no help.> Reseated the battery and associated cables - no help.  I am not sure if there is anything that I could do to at least diagonize the problem before I give it to the service station. Any pointers on this is much appreciated   Thanks much in advance.

Hello. First of all, thank you for taking the time to view my post and potentially help me out. So the problem is that my laptop will not start. I was using my laptop here one day and it was working fine, but it was unable to charge for some reason and ended up shutting down so I went to bed. The next morning I tried turning it on, but it was dead. I have tried a different charger as my sister also has a lenovo laptop, but this did not work either. I would think if the battery was the problem, the laptop should still be working with the charger in? I have tried calling support line several times with no answer, the warranty has gone out and I forgot where i bought the laptop sadly. Really frustrated over here, and any help is highly appreciated!

I have a Lenovo Ideapad Z400 that was bought in 1st-2nd week of May, 2013. I have a problem that started on May 21, 2013, my laptop battery suddenly drops from 25% to 6%. I've read some posts that it requires firmware update to work normally.. This is the site

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS035310

Is there any steps needed while performing this Upgrade? Is it safe? Will it fix my problem?  By the way, I'm here in Philippines and the Ideapad Z400 was bought by my uncle somewhere in Saudi Arabia, and he delivered it to me when he got back here. I started using the laptop on May 8, 2013. Thanks..

I have a linksys BEFSR41 router and I updated the firmware to the latest version and now I am having email and web page problems.

My pc's with windows XP work fine..email and web pages work fine.

My 98 and me computers can't send emails or connect to some web pages. Other web pages come up fine.

I have called tech support about 5-6 times and tried many things with no results.

I have changed the MTU with 5 different sizes with no results.
Tried setting up the DNS on the pc itself with no luck
played with the port range forwarding by adding 110 25 113 and 80 with no luck.
Added 25, 110,25,143 to the port triggering settings with no luck either.

They are sending an older version of firmware but I was having problems accessing some sites with the older version with all my pc's so I feel I am kinda stuck. Tech support is not that good as every time I call...I get a different answer and the people barely speak english.
HELP!!!

THANKS!

Dear team,I was initially so excited to receive my brand new lenovo z510 in feb 2014. But two months later, I have noticed that my laptop had problem with keyboard and mouse touched pad. I was disappointed, it was my first laptop in my life that I bought with my own expense having a great feeling on Lenovo. It made me so unhappy and depressed that it was a totally new laptop just been 2 months old and it had a defect. I conveyed myself saying that defects with any electronic items are quite common and I moved on shipping my laptop to lenovo depot center at texas with my expense paying $25.00 to fedex. I really appreciate and I am thankful to lenovo team who took care of my laptop very well, and for having the issue fixed. However the left arrow key on keyboard is troubling once in a while. Its not that it doesnt work completely , but it does rarely. What bothers me write this to you is another problem that I am having now. I don't really know if this part of issue will be taken care by Lenovo or not, but wanted to get this to notice of somebody. The laptop inside screen border that has a grey color started peeling off itself on the top right hand corner. (The laptop outer body is chocolate color and there is a joining between the outer layer and the inner grey frame that hold the laptop screen). And more of that, it looks like the inner grey border is just sticked to the screen and it stared loosing the adhesive joining at the bottom of the frame too.The battery nev... Read more

Greetings forum. I've had my Z510 for nearly a year and I'm loving it. I use my laptop mainly to play games, design work and other work involving typing. The problem is a recently surfacing one. The problem is my mousepad would not work. I tried reinstalling the drivers that come with the laptop and also from Lenovo website to no avail. FYI, I usually plug in a mouse and keyboard to use the laptop. Pressing the mousepad on/off button at f6 on my laptop does nothing. Also, I cannot press the button twice as it somehow disables my keyboard altogether. Hope I can get help to resolve this. Thanks and have a good day.

I have a laptop which is mentioned above. Had it for almost 3 years now and suddenly shut off while I was using it. It would not charge nor it would turn on. Tried the power reset thing which holds the power button for multiple seconds but to no avail.  Then went to a service center saying motherboard burned up. Such a shame since I really like the laptop and I spent  lot of money for it since I bought the i7 core version. I was hesitant to buy other brands before actually purchasing this lenovo laptop. I have a netbook (not a lenovo brand) which I had for 7 years now. But my almost 1000dollars z510 laptop broke and it hasn't been a FULL 3 YEARS?  WTH LENOVO! And motherboard replacement is VERY expensive. I'm really STRESSED about this. And ALL my files are there. Photos, work documents etc. I can;t stressed enough about how disappointed I am.

Hi i have theEdge11 K3252545-A12 modelwith Battery 57wh model no : 42T4897 The Battery Monitor showing only 47.5wh overall capacity. This seems to be the same problem like the edge13 series. For these devices there is a battery firmware update but not for my battery.Again i know that batterys are getting worse after cycles but this seems to be bug because:1) the battery is 2 weeks old2) the battery shows in the energy manager as 47wh battery and not 57 battery. So the battery manager says "good" and no battery wastage.  Does Lenovo provide the upgrade also for my device and battery? see the links: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-75738 http://www.lenovoblogs.com/connections/2010/08/update-bios-and-battery-firmware-to-ensure-full-charg...

Answer:Solved: Edge 11 AMD K325 - Battery Problem need Battery Firmware update?

Hello mate, You don't have a problem with your battery. My T510 indicates the same with a 57wh. Under average usage patterns your ThinkPad battery maintains approximately 70% of its power capacity for the first year of operation. Average usage is defined as the number of recharge cycles. A cycle is defined as each time the battery discharges a total of 85% or more and is recharged it counts as one cycle.

I have a Netgear WGR614 v6 Wireless Router. I recently tried to update the firmware to Version 2.0.19_1.0.19 (http://kbserver.netgear.com/release_notes/d103100.asp). At that website it gives step by step directions on how to download and load the firmware update.
1. I opened a Web browser.
2. Accessed the router (http://192.168.1.1)
3. Logged in the router (User Name = admin and Password = password
4. Wrote down all settings that you entered when previously configuring. (Usually this includes information such as ISP configuration and wireless security settings.)
5. Downloaded the file from the North America.
6. In the web browser of http://192.168.1.1 > Under Maintenance > click Router Upgrade.
7. Clicked Browse and locate the firmware upgrade file and selected the file I just downloaded.
8. Clicked Upload.
9. Waited for the router to reboot.
10. Under Maintenance, click Settings Backup, then click Erase.

Then this is where I started to have problems, the remaining steps I need to follow are:
11. Wait one minute for the router to reboot.
12. Manually enter the configuration information you wrote down in Step 4. Use the Smartwizard, or manually configure as shown in the box below.
If the router has problems, repeat the whole procedure, Steps 1-12.

The problem I am experiencing is after step #10, I am not sure what to do. I waited one minute and nothing happened. Then I am not sure where to enter the configuration information. I tried going to the original site... Read more

Hi I own an ideapad z510 i5 with nvidia graphics. The problem is sometimes when i transfer large data ( size exceeds 2 gb) through the USB port my touchpad becomes non responsive and will become normal only after sometime. but the USB mouse that I have connected to it at the same time will be working  and wont be  hanged. I am using windows 8.1 on my laptop and is this issue a hardware issue or a software issue ? cause I've heard that windows 8 has a lot of issues with touchpads.also another doubt i have noticed that  to turn on the nvidia graphics card and to increase the max clock frequency  to 3 ghz I have to plug in my laptop to the power supply always. and when the power goes off suddenly the the games become super laggy and will  become normal only when the power is restored. What is the reason for this ? If it is a default setting  Can i override these settings and turn on the nvidia card on battery itself.

OK, I know you've seen a lot of topics with that title, but here's another one for you! Famous problems: battery goes from 100 to 0 in like half an hour, or it's fully charged and as soon as i unplug the charger, battery gone! I had these problems almost a year ago and I looked for solutions here and I found that firmware. It solved all my problems, life was beautiful again!Suddenly I realised that those problems are back again and since the firmware is already installed, I didn't find any solution this time.So I really don't how how to solve this one.

Greetings! I have a Lenovo Z510 8GB Ram, Core i7, 1tb hdd, which I purchased less than a year ago. Off late I've been experiencing major battery problems. It started off with the laptop randomly shutting off without any warning, even though there was considerable life left, for eg. 90 pct or so. This became worse when the laptop didn't start up at all, until I plugged in the charger. The only way I can now operate the laptop is by connecting to charger, but the battery still remains at 0 pct, doesn't charge. The battery light keeps blinking red, Also, I have used an application BatteryInfoView to analyze this, and it says teh battery still has 83 percent of its original capacity, However I receive a message everytime on startup saying the battery is weak and needs to be replaced. What can I do about this? Thanks.

Occaisionally (once every some 10 times), when starting windows the Wifi isnt recognized (it doesnt connect automatically to the network and manaul trials fail), and anything connected to the USB prots isnt recognized, trying to restart, the windows takes minutes and windows gives a blue screen saying it recovered from crash, and dumpds data and then restarts offering operation in normal and safe mode. What is the problem here, any suggestions how to solve it!, i tried to format the Labtop and install the windows all over again and the drivers from lenovo wesite again, same problem persisits, please help!!!!

Answer:Problem with Lenovo IdeaPad Z510 !!!!: Wifi and USB ports arent recognized after windows startup.

Dear,  Hi. I just bought Lenovo Z510, 6GB Ram, Nvidia 740m, 1 TB Hard Drive.  I noticed when i'm playing or like opening stuffs like browsers and applications it became lag when the charger is unplugged. And then when I plugged in the charger everything became smooth and very good performance. So what could be the problem? I tried making the max performance in battery options right side of the corner below the screen (near the time)Also I tried changing the high performance mode in Energy Manager application. Also I tired changing the Power Option in Inter HD Graphic Control Panel when On Batter = Maximum Performance. And it seems like it doesn't change at all. It still laggy.

Answer:Lenovo Z510 Battery Problem (Plugged in = Smooth, Unplugged = Laggy)

I think overlocking something might work but it is kinda dangerous too. So I guess turning the option conservation out of energy management settings to 60% is the best way.

I updated whatever drivers were available from HP a few days ago. Among some of those drivers was the BIOS. After updating the bios I started receiving a "Consider replacing your battery message" from the task bar. The battery seems to work fine and it seems odd that the battery would go bad right after updating the BIOS.

Its probably about a year + a few months old.

I've read multiple threads about battery issues with laptops running Windows 7 but most are from when it was just released. Soon after bios updates were being released to fix the problem but for me it did the exact opposite.

I've followed this Hp post about the issue to no avail.
https://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...name=c01997964

I didn't try going back to the older version but I've done just about everything else. Anyone have any ideas?

Off Topic:
The HP updater said all the drivers were up to date but they were not. Bad program I guess?

Answer:Updated Drivers Creates Battery Problem

I would suggest checking the battery with the HP battery checker as per your link, otherwise wait and see what happens. Contacting HP may help.

Hi There! Some Questions:1) Is the CPU of the Z510 on a socket so I could upgrade it?I saw a dissambling video, that looked like you could do that. And if one can do that: If you place a i7 on that board will the cooler be strong enough and is the battery able to keep up with the power needed from that i7?And if I'd go totally crazy and replace the i5 4200, upgrade that thing to 16gb ram and change the hard drive to an ssd: Will the battery just vaporize? SO: Is it possible to upgrade the 4cell battery installed in my z510? Thanks for your responses! Regards from Germany,Ruforion

My Lenovo IdeaPad Z510 shuts down after 30-40 minutes when running on battery, without any notification. The battery level displays 99% battery.I've tried various troubleshooting steps, including gauge reset, charging for 10 hours when shut down, charging couple of times in BIOS mode. The energy manager says battery health is "normal". Battery report says :DESIGN CAPACITY43,200 mWhFULL CHARGE CAPACITY48,000 mWh My laptop is under warranty, but service center has refused to replace battery because report says it's healthy. Kindly provide some solution.

Answer:Z510 automatically shuts down at 99% battery, when running on battery

Could your processor be overheating? If it gets too hot there is an auto-shutdown feature to prevent hardware damage. What kind of work are you doing when this happens? HW Monitor and CPU-Z can give you temperature information.

Hi,  I have an Ideapad Z510 with Windows 8 since a few days ago. My problem comes when i tried to use the power management app. When I try to manage this, I found an error message that tells me that my battery is not genuine and I cant use this power management.  The computer is new, buyed at Mediamarkt (Spain) last week. I tried to reinstall drivers from official Lenovo's website, but the problem is still there. I likes a lot this computer but, with only a few days with me I find this problem. I'm worried about battery life if I can't manage the power. May I tried to refund the machine to mediamarkt? Thanks

Can anyone please tell me how to find an updated driver and firmware so I can get my Itunes to burn a CD. This is what I think I need ( looked in my device manager): HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8481B and JLMS XJ-HD 1665. At first I received an error message saying my disc burner or software couldn't be found. Now I received the following message: The registry settings used by Itunes drivers for importing and burning cds + dvds are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other cd burning software (which I didn't). I reinstalled itunes several times as suggested but that didn't work either. Sorry for the long message. I have no clue what I'm doing. Thanks for your help.4-dontkno

I'd like to update the Renesas USB 3.0 firmware on the W520. The power saving feature does not work (as most of us no doubt realize by now), and the current firmware appears to be two years old. A little sleuthing indicated the controller is probably uPD720200a. I was able to determine that by visiting this page: http://www.station-drivers.com/page/renesas.htm and comparing the driver version (2.1.36) and current firmware revision (4015) as indicated by the program "USB 3.0 Host Controller Information". The firmware update program does not let you update the firmware if it doesn't detect the correct hardware. I have run the program, and it didn't fail, indicating that is the correct hardware. However, I did not actually run the firmware update. I also note that same page has a newer driver. Does anyone have some experience with the updated firmware? I have no idea if updating the firmware might affect the Lenovo warranty. I once had excellent success when using the same webpage to update the firmware for a USB 3.0 expresscard device made by a manufacturer that has gone out of business (Acomdata). The new firmware transformed the device from being unusable to working well.

I've been running 2.1.39 and firmware 4021 for a while now. What problem are you trying to solve?

I'm currently attempting an upgrade on a model z510 from the stock hard drive to a Toshiba 512 GB SSD.   I have a set of Lenovo operating system recovery discs for Windows 8. When I turn the computer on, I receive the message: Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed.Insert Recovery Media and Hit any keyThen Select 'Boot Manager' to choose a new Boot Device or to Boot Recovery Media After selecting the only option "OK", I am taken to the "Boot Option Menu" There are instructions to press the up or down arrow keys, and to press ENTER to select an option.   Unfortunately, no options are listed.   Pressing Enter yields no results.  After pressing escape, the screen turns black and states: "No bootable device -- Please restart system"   I have tried to change the boot settings without success.  I figure changing them to  Unfortunately, there are no options listed.   I am out of ideas.  Can anybody offer any assistance?  Lenovo will not help because the hard drive is 3rd party hardware.

Answer:Ideapad Z510 upgrading to SSD

I have got exactly the same screen-displays. But I had tried to install OS Windows XP by CD on a brandnew Lenovo IdeaPad Z 510 with FreeDos. I entered Bios trying to find where I can change priority of boot devices but could not find any list. After some changing clicks suddenly my search ended with those readouts mentioned above. Now nothing else works. No entry to Bios, no entry to FreeDos starting page. I tried the reset button but this does not change anything.Have you managed to solve that problem meanwhile? Or has anybody else an idea that helps me to get to installation of an OS under this conditions? Meanwhile I prefer installing Windows 7 because Microsoft will end support of Windows XP.

Hello everyone,

Recently I purchased a Lenovo Ideapad Z510, model name 20287, MO: YB03120328. According to the specification from my reseller (Dutch webshop www.bol.com, see here: http://www.bol.com/nl/p/lenovo-ideapad-z510-00811-laptop/9200000023719019/) and the Lenovo box it was shipped in, this laptop should have a 1000GB hard disk + 8 GB solid state memory (SSD) for caching. My problem is that I am not sure if the 8 GB SSD is working.

The SSD does not show as a drive in "My Computer", it does not show in Window's Disk Management utility (see Figure 1), Intel's Rapid Storage Technology does not show the possibility of using the SSD to accelerate performance (see Figure 2) and when running ExpressCache (with the command "eccmd.exe -info") the program tells me "HFS Volume is not mounted" and "ECCmd exited with error 0x10df (4319)".

All these clues lead me to believe that in fact no 8 GB SSD is installed, or if it is, that it is not working properly. Does anyone know of additional ways of testing I could use to confirm it is or is not working? Thank you very much for your help.

Answer:Does the 8GB SSD in my IdeaPad Z510 work?

Go to device manager and locate the model number of the hdd and post it back if you can't find the ssd. If there is an ssd post also the model number. What were trying to do is identify first whether you have the pure sshd or a discrete sshd (hdd + ssd).

Answer:Ideapad Z510 no SSD cache

hi envy,

The Expresscache software is only applicable for models with an HDD+SSD (cache). Looking at the IdeaPad Z510 specs, the unit comes only with a regular HDD (which explains 1TB HDD in the disk management pic that you uploaded).

In addition, the machine could also be configured with a 1TB+8GB (cache) Hybrid SSHD in which the cache feature is built-in to the drive.

If the Expresscache software is preinstalled or if you have installed it separately, you can safely uninstall it's not applicable to the system.
