I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, So out of the blue my Yoga 13 seized up while sitting at the start menu in Windows 8.1. I had to kill the local svc host which had accumulated over 2GB of ram... just so I could shutdown the machine,  but when I shutdown some craziness started. The power wouldn't turn off even after 20 minutes. I held it down forever and finally it did turn off (maybe the shutdown was incredibly prolonged). I did also flash the bios after this craziness, to the one on the suggested download site (version 55).  At any rate, that's when the problems really started: I got the plugged in not charging issue in windowsThe battery charging light no longer turns on when plugged in (though the battery is charging). The novo button doesn't work.Unauthorized battery messagePower button wasn't responsive when off. It took several minutes for it to register. I of course have tried, from the forums: Letting the battery run down to zero/Shutting down the power from the bios. The latter fixed the unautorized battery problem.Uninstalling/Reinstalling Lenovo energy management. This does allow the battery icon in windows to show charging above 90%... sometimes.Turned off fast boot in windows and bios. The problem with the power button not responding when off is much, much less in frequency now.Making sure that Maximum Battery was selected in Energy Management.Resetting the battery guageI reflashed my bios to version 55 with the default fan profiles located in a Lenovo KB article... My Samsung laptop charger has the light coming on however it is not charging, the charger is heating up so is this the charger or the laptop? have ordered another charger from coywood.co.uk as they had universal one's and i rang a couple of local computer shops but these wanted 65 to even look at it so advice would be welcome incase this does not work?

Answer:Charger Light On, Not Charging?

Hi

first off dont use anything but an official charger, the cheap ones can and will damage your motherboard due to them being unregulated and supplying to much current.

If the charger has the light on but wont charge then the internal cable is broken and may be shorting out inside the sleeving.

check the cable by eye for severe kinks or bends in the cable.

Should you find one, cut the section just before and after the kink and then strip the cable back and join the wires and test it, if it works then you can either solder the wires and use heat shrink plastic to join them or buy a new one.

So I got a toshiba satellite l300d and it does not charge/turn on. I bought a new socket and charger that work. The board looks fine with no corrosion. Is there anything that could be stopping the laptop from working and could it be fixed?

Answer:Laptop - no charging light even when socket & charger works

Does the laptop have a separate power board? Is that what you mean by "new socket" ? Or did you replace just the jack (desolder / resolder new jack) ?

May need to crack it back open and use a digital multimeter to see what voltage is coming through it.

only seems to happen sporadically, or when playing games - where it happens every few seconds. The power button/status light on the edge of the computer, and the charging status light will both begin blinking. The battery/charging light blinks red. Reinserting the charging cable in the computer temporarily fixes the problem. When the lights are blinking, it is evident that the computer is not getting power because the FPS drops dramatically.  thanks for any help

Answer:y470 charger problem, simultaneous blinking status and charging light

It might be that the power supply is wearing out and unable to provide maximum power draw. Another case is that the power supply gets very hot that it limits the power draw to prevent melting. You can get a spare power brick here

Hi, My lenovo g505s has stooped charging and both battery and power tlights are on (white ) when Ac power is not plugged in. When I plugged in AC power both light will start blinking (power white battery orange). Is it a software problem or problem with the pin of power. My battery and charger are working fine.(checked on another laptop). Please help out.

Answer:Lenovo G505s Not charging both battery and power light are white.

From your service manual (available on the Support tab for your notebook) ... it says that your blinking while is sleep mode, the blinking amber indicates charging battery.  If your lights are fast blinking (less than one second apart) it may mean something different.

Would try removing battery and AC adapter, press and hold power button for 30 seconds then release.  Reinstall battery and AC power then start the notebook using power button.  Run Lenovo diagnostics and have it check the battery for faults.

Good luck.

So lately I've been having an issue with my laptop.  The charger is plugged in but the computer doesn't seem to recognize it unless I shift the laptop to a certain position.  This seems to have little to do with the position of the AC plug in the DC port at all as it's not the same positions that will actually get the computer to recognize the charger is plugged in. I don't think this has anything to do with the battery itself as removing the battery does not make the connection more consistent.  The computer will still not recognize the AC adapter is plugged in.  I had the same problem with my old laptop, a V570. It will also briefly lose connection and restore it before my display can process it.  I know this by the CPU throttle in the BIOS (which I can't access to turn off because of the version of BIOS used) will randomly slow my computer down and won't restore to full speed when the charger is making connection again. What just happened lately which is making me wonder about this more is that my laptop stopped recognizing the charger as being plugged in in the tray icon but the charger light on my laptop started flashing orange.  The blue power light was also flashing. Sometimes when I restart my computer to reset the CPU throttle, I will get a pop-up message from the Battery Management Software stating, "Adapter has limited support: performance will be affected ..." Full specs available on the purchase page here. &n... Hello, I was recently having issues with my Yoga 13 where I kept getting a Driver Power State Failure. I did some research and tried fixing it but I never had any luck. One day I shut my laptop off by holding the button down since I couldn't shut it down any other way, and now it won't turn back on. When I plug the charger in it shows that the battery has power. Anyone else ever have this issue? Thanks.

This laptop works when it wants to, but now it doesn't. Was using it a few minutes ago and was working fine as long as I didn't turn it off. But now that it is off, it won't turn back on. Hello, Last month a message from lenovo power manager software pops up on the laptop, saying something like my power adapter needs to be replaced it is not providing enough. It continued to work for a few days before stop charging at all. When I plugged in to AC power, my Yoga would start charging for 2 seconds and stop. If I took out the plug and reconnect, it just did the same and not charge. While plugged in, the laptop charging icon disappears after the 2 initial seconds and the power light on my pc flashes steadly on/off amber. I managed to order this power adapter here before out of battery. When I received the adapter my Yoga started charging again with no problem. The next day however, my screen went black and stop working. Warrenty out dated, so I openned the machine and found a loose screw from the fan, put it back and by magic the screen is working again. The next day I plug in my laptop, let it charges for a few hours. When I turn it on the charging icon disappears again. Same thing as before, not charging with flashing amber light. I noticed that when unplugged, the light would go to solid white like normal. So I have 70% battery left before I feel like just throwing this thing in the trash! I couldn't find anybody with the same problem. I was wondering if updating the BIOS could help but when I tried a message came up "Please plugin and try again", Great...! Someone please help!

Answer:Yoga 2 13 - stopped charging - power light flashing amber

Hi pjz,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I would suggest try isolating if Battery or AC is causing this problem.

First is to try removing the battery on your Yoga
Here's is a simple guide.
https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Lenovo+Yoga+2+13-Inch+Battery+Replacement/39456

Now while there is no battery Try plugging your adapter and try turning the computer ON.
It should power up using only the AC adapter.

If it did not.
Your problem lies with the the power System, COuld be the charging port. Try observing the Port or follow the wire that runs to it.

If the computer power up without the Battery in it, without any problem. This is a problem with your battery.

Let me know your findings
Regards
Solid Cruver

Hi, My husband purchased an Ideapad Yoga 11S last year. Last month, the power cord stopped charging. I took the system into a repair shop, and they told me that the charger wasn't registering any power activity, and that I'd need to buy a new one. I ordered a new one... one month later, it too has stopped charging the computer! I have NO IDEA why? My son uses this for school, and he can't access any of his work, nor can he participate in classwork that requires the computer. I researched solutions, and found that I should unplug the unit and take out the battery --- YEAH RIGHT... a special screw driver is needed to do that, so we can't get the screws out without stripping them. I am VERY frustrated because the computer is no longer covered under warranty... is the new charger that I purchased covered? Is there something else that I can do? Any help in this matter is extremely appreciated. S_Reynolds

Hi all,I have a brand new i7 Yoga 13 running windows 8 from Best Buy. As soon as it booted up, I have not been able to charge my battery. As I hover over the icon, it says "Plugged in and Charging" but it does not include a percentage. I have had it plugged in overnight, and if I unplug the computer, it will die immediately. I have tried updating my BIOS, energy managment and setting it to "Maximum battery life," but nothing changes. Thoughts? Thanks

Hi. I recently bought a Lenovo Yoga 500 laptop, and I'm quite disappointed. When I plug in my charger, 9/10 times it starts to charge, then immediately stop charging, then charge again for a second. This results in never charging. Eventually it charges normally, but it's completely random and sometimes requires 5+ restarts. I need this laptop for school so taking it off for repair is hard for me but I will do it if there is no other way. I got a second charger from a friend and this still occurs, so the problem isn't with the charger. Anyone have any idea for a fix? Thanks

I have the latest Bios installed but laptop will not chage via usb c using anything but HP charger. Is the a setting in Bios or something I can do to use one of my other type c chargers?thankstom

Answer:charging via usb c using non HP charger

wingman1800 Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! The problem is, if you use a non-HP charger and that damages the PC in any way, you have blown the warranty -- and the total cost of repairs will fall on you. You really want this to happen? If you remember the problems with the Samsung Note7 exploding, ALL the instances of that happening (at least in the beginning) were due to non-Samsung chargers. The problem with USB-C is that it can deliver a LOT of power to the device, which is SUPPOSED to be regulated so the device does not overheat, but chargers that don't adhere properly to the USB-C standard can easily overheat your device. So, you're risking destroying your device in order to save a little money.

Hello,
I like my SP4 and am using it primarily for my astronomy hobby that takes me to dark and cold places where I have to carry my own electrical power. After much search I chose and bought a car charger designed for the SP4. It's rating matches that of the brick that comes with SP4: 12v, 2.58A. But when I hook it up to my portable power source which is a 12v 35Ah deep cycle AGM battery, the charger only pulls about 1.6 amps and pretty much just keeps the SP alive - it does not charge.
I am not sure if the label on the charger simply means it can handle 2.58 amps or it falsely claims that it can pull and provide to the SP4 the 2.58 amp current that it needs.
My main question here is about the role that the computer plays in charging of its battery. Is it possible that the computer is simply not pulling enough?
As opposed to voltage which is pushed into a machine, current is something that the using and needing machine pulls from a source. So a charger, car charger or the brick, seem to play a role as a bridge. Ultimately the computer is the one that is inhaling the amperage from the brick and from the char charger. So if the car charger doesn't have the ability to satisfy the need of the computer then IT suffers and maybe gets damaged because of over-pulling by a commuter desperate for the current? Or is it possible that the computer just doesn't like the non-native power sourc and is programmed to pull in less just to be on the safe side?
I want to look for and find a more... Read more

I faced this problem for the third time and it seems that now I will need to get fixed by some specialist.  It has started to mess things around when I left until 3% or less and I did not plug a charger on time, then battery died completely and I could not power it back again. First time it happened, the power has gone back after 3 or more hours after trying so many different sockets in the house. Second time I had exactly the same issue but I thought it might have been a charger problem, so I bought a new charger compatible with my laptop. Luckily, it worked fine and charged my laptop when it was plugged in on time. However, the third time I left it on the 3% and left in on the sleep mode and the next day my laptop was completely dead, did not show any reaction when the new charger was plugged in.And now, I am not planning to buy a new charger, because it does not seem it is a charger fault, but the battery's. I have spoken to some specialist who deal with computers and they have adviced me to open the battery and 'awaken' it. Obviously I am not going to do it myself, as it has to be brought to a repair centre or laboratory, where they can do so.Has anyone faced this problem? Any suggestions what could have happened and what is the solution for this problem?

Answer:The battery charger is not charging in Y3P

hi Viktorija,

Welcome to the Forums.

I don't have a Y3P here for testing but when you plugged-in the AC adapter and let it charge (e.g., 30mins-1hr), do you see any change on the battery light status indicator?
  - Link to picture

Batteries degrade overtime due to heat and daily use but they're less likely to fail especially if you just had this unit under a year.

If you don't see any changes on the battery light indicators then it's either that the battery or its connection to the motherboard is faulty

Y3P Video Disassembly Guide (see Battery Removal)

If the machine does turn ON after being charged for 30mins, try to update the BIOS and ensure the charger is in the correct position when charging the battery.

If the above steps are not applicable and the machine still doesn't turn ON then I recommend you contact the lenovo helpdesk and report the problem.

Hello, this is urgent. This just happened a while ago. I was playing a game here on my laptop and it was under 20% battery life, as I continued to play when it was plugged in. There is every possibility that it is the connection between the Charger and the Laptop that is faulty.

Battery won't charge, have 2 batteries and both in great shape. Now for some reason they won't charge and checking under power options it shows they aren't charging but reads the battery.

Can this be caused by a software problem?

I purchased a HP Pavilion x2-10-n113dx refurbished from Groupon in April 2016. This tablet stopped recognizing a charger when it's plugged in to the device. Is this the charging port itself or the charger causing this issue.  I only have about 25% battery life left on the device.

when charger plugged in computer detects charger and shows the icon on the battery icon
computer detects battery and how much of a charge it has
but it states charger plugged in but not charging
the ONLY WAY I CAN GET CHARGER TO WORK AND CHARGE IS TO TAKE THE BATTERY OUT AND PUT BACK IN
COMPUTER WAL LAH CHARGER WORKS AND CHARGES BUT ONLY TO 97 PERCENT FULLY CHARGED LIGHT (GREEN) DOESN'T COME ON

CAN ANYONE GIVE ME A CLUE TO WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY COMPUTER
&
WHAT DOES TAKING OUT A BATTERY AND PUTTING IT BACK IN DO THAT MAKES MY CHARGER WORK I HAVE LOOKED AND LOOKED FOR A EXPLANATION TO NO AVAIL & THERE IS NO COMPUTER PLACE THAT WILL HELP YOU WHEN YOU HAVE NO INCOME THAT IS MONEY
THANK YOU FOR ANY INFO YOU CAN OFFER~BMS

Answer:Charger plugged in, not charging toshiba

If you take out the battery when the computer is totally shut down, and plug in the AC adapter and start the computer, does the light on the charger come on, some are green, some not....

And, does the computer work normally if you are using just the AC adapter?

I would not use a battery that charged only to anything but 100% and here is why> overheating can result and cause a fire, I have had one laptop battery explode and it is not a pretty scene.

The AC adapter might also be damaged, but just answer the questions and will try to help further. I buy this type of Toshiba adapter all the time, and can point you to some reliable but not over expensive ones.

For a while my nokia started to show that it is under charging while not connected to any charger. The problem is, that i.e. it is 63% charged when this happens the phone thinks about itself it forever. If I plug onto the charger it does not react, because "it is already under charging". The only option for me to switch off the phone and restart, but after a while this happens again and again.
I already replaced the battery once (of course I did a hard reset before, because I had suspected a system failure, but it did not help), and for 3 weeks it worked normally. Now it started again with the new battery.

Answer:Why does it shows it is charging while not connected to a charger?

Honestly, it doesn't sound like a battery issue. It sounds like a hardware problem with the charging circuitry in the phone. Could also be a problem with the USB connector on the phone, but it's hard to tell without a thorough physical inspection.
If it is still under warranty, I'd recommend taking it in for service. If not, and you want to continue using the phone, you may need to pay for service repair on the phone. The other option is to pick up a new phone, as this one may be on the way out if it isn't fixed.
Like I said, it's hard to tell without a thorough physical inspection, so take what I say here with a grain of salt, and best of luck.

Note: I think this is the right section for this topic.

I bought this laptop brand new not too long ago. One issue I'm having that is random is that when I plug the charger in, sometimes the light will flash and it won't charge. I have to mess around with it a little bit before it actually does charge. I'm really curious what could be causing this.

Answer:Charger plugged in but not charging issue?

Hello

Check the power port on the laptop..if it is loose that may be your problem.

Answer:XPS 13 9360 charger brick get too hot while charging - HELP!

Hi HINOON,
Are you using an original Dell OEM Adapter? When you plug in the adapter to the system, does the adapter stay firm or does it fall off easily? Is the adapter frayed? Is there any damage on the system? Could you test with another power adapter if possible?
Does the system overheat?
Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - check the adapter status in BIOS with and without the adapter plugged in. Also, wiggle the adapter cable at the end and see if the status changes in BIOS at any point.
If it is only the adapter that overheats and if the system is under warranty, we shall replace the adapter.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private message with the service tag and your Name for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

Hi, everyone!

I had previously had a rogue virus and browser-redirecting malware infecting my machine. I worked with a technician on here (you can see what went on there here: Rogue virus and browser-redirecting malware (DDS, Attach, and Ark included) ) and during that time is when we realized that the updates were not working and that was also the time that my charger stopped working. When I attempt to update, I received a message that says, "An error occurred while checking for new updates for your computer. Error(s) found: Code 80096001"

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you. :)

When I am connecting the charger to the laptop, the laptop is not charging (LED light is not on) and LED on the adapter/charger also turning off. What could be problem?
Things I already tried and see the same behavior:
1. Tried with another charger.
2. Removed battery and try to turn on with AC power
3. Hold the power button for few seconds-minutes to get rid of static power
Charger is working fine. Laptop is out of warrenty. (I bought the brand new laptop one year back. Model: Dell Inspiron 15, i5).

Answer:Laptop is not charging with working charger

[Charger is working fine] if it was working fine the light on it would not turn off. Even though it does light it does not mean the charger is working. Maybe try plugging it into a different socket.

Answer:G50-80 - charger plugged-in not charging message

Hi NSR ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Lenovo Energy Management Software is a tool that is used to extend the battery life limiting it to 60% charge.
This is set on Optimized Battery Health settings but if you are planning on charging the laptop to 100% , you can set Maximum Battery life to do it.

To access :
Clicked on the battery icon at the bottom
Choose More Power Options and change power plan settings then advanced power settings.
Choose tab for Lenovo Energy Management and click Enable Lenovo Energy Management.

Update us how it goes.

I have a Vista Laptop that is not charging at times. The power jack it pushed in and both my chargers spark when I move the plug around so it could charge. I don?t know if it?s my laptop or the Charger. Should I get the power jack fixed, get a new battery or a new charger? Please Help!!

Answer:Laptop charger plugged in but not charging

Esmmy, look in the hole on your laptop where the power adapter would plug in and you'll see the silver power pin. Using a push button pen, put it on the end of the power pin and see if you can move the pin at all. Any movement on that pin means it's broken and the DC Jack needs to be replaced. Most DC Jacks are soldered to the motherboard and need to be repaired by someone experienced in desoldering and soldering.

If the DC Jack is broken, the power adapter won't charge your battery since it's not making a solid connection inside. Moving it around too much while plugged in could short something, cause further damage or even a fire.. Best to have it repaired by an experienced technician.

My ex's 3000 N200 (0769-BMG) has stopped charging its battery.  Thankfully (I think) I have an almost identical model so have been able to test her charger and battery both of which are fine. I charged up her battery to 100% on my laptop & put it back in her system.  With the laptop still off the charge light remains green for a minute or so and then starts flashing orange. When started up and in Windows (XP), it recognises that it's on AC power but the battery life % starts to drop so the adapter is obviously not able to support the laptop by itself.  To prove this I removed the battery and the laptop turned itself off immediately. So I'm guessing therefore that this is a motherboard problem, but more specifically just the charging circuit .  It's only 5 months outside it's year warranty so I'm highly disappointed, and very concerned seeing as I've got one myself! Have I any options other than returning it to a Lenovo Authorised Service Centre?  I've replaced motherboards on other manufacturers laptops but can't find a UK supplier for a replacement Lenovo motherboard. Any help gratefully received. Bob

Hi ABHAYHENDRE,
Are you using an original Dell OEM Adapter? When you plug in the adapter to the system, does the adapter stay firm or does it fall off easily? Is the adapter frayed? Is there any damage on the system? Could you test with another power adapter if possible?
Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - check the adapter status in BIOS with and without the adapter plugged in. Also, wiggle the adapter cable at the end and see if the status changes in BIOS at any point. Check the battery health in BIOS (if applicable).
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us. These are onboard diagnostics and they might possible pick some error if the hardware is not functional.
Test with another adapter and battery and check.
Force the BIOS flash if required - http://dell.to/2hnhjs4
If the adapter is not detected, test another adapter. If the adapter fits in loose, replace the dc port - http://bit.ly/2hxR3OO - this is the part you need.
If nothing works, then I would suspect a motherboard fault.
You could contact our team to get a quote for a paid service call - http://dell.to/1vnT6CQ
My personal suggestion is that, if the motherboard is being replaced, then you could invest your money on a new machine than to repair this system. However, that is your discretion.

I recently purchased a Kensington Absolutepower (http://www.kensington.com/kensington/en/gb/s/1717/absolute-power.aspx) as a replacement for the standard 65w charger that was shipped with my X1.  It seems to be compatible with other X-model Lenovo laptops, and Lenovo are listed as a supported brand, however when plugged in the X1 does not charge. The charger is recognised, (the familiar bleep sound and the green light next to the laptop input lights up when plugged in) but does not charge the battery. The charger is set to the correct voltage setting, and all Lenovo firmware is up to date. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with this product combination before I return the charger?

Hi,So this Lenovo G700 Laptop is a few years old but before I received it, it had been used only a handful of times. I have recently been on holiday and before I left I unplugged my laptop from the mains and so the battery ran down to nothing. I came home and plugged it back in again, turned my laptop on and now it is telling me that I have the wrong battery or battery charger and so it will not charge. However, I know for a fact that both the battery and the charger are the ones that came with the laptop when my stepfather bought it new around three years ago. Any ideas would be helpful! Thanks

Thank you

Answer:Lumia 950 not charging, only original charger works

There are some bad chargers out there , like the oneplus cables which are not made to specification. but you need to make sure you're getting the right charge it requires. But you need a usb-c cable can't use micro. Even if you convert, it's incapable of more than 5volt.

Hi,

I wanted to how to avoid this battery damage. This is my second experience with this issue. One was with my first laptop Toshiba bought in US, which when using in EU and charging it with the same charger + adapter, the battery life decreased significantly. The battery would only last 20-30min or so. Where as before it was about 1h to 2hrs. The second one is with my current Macbook also bought in US and now using in EU. Same thing. I just changed the removable adapter on the charger and again full charge only gives me about 1h or so where before it would be 2-3hrs. Any ideas how to resolve this problem?

Regards
Tony

Answer:lenovo z500 charger is plugged in but not charging

When this has happened to me with my laptops, it meant a hardware problem. Either the adapter is broken or the power jack is broken inside your laptop, or had been bent off. You can try to solder a replacement back on the motherboard if your laptop isn't under warranty. Or take it to a repair shop if that isn't too expensive. Either way, I don't think downloading anything is going to help you.

Hello, My U430T has suddenly stopped charging. Plugging in the charger doesn't do anything to the laptop. I have tried using a different wall power socket. I have also tried seperating and reconnecting the charging block and the end of the cable that connects into the laptop. In addition I have also tried powering down the laptop for about 10 minutes and removing the cable. I've also disabled conservative mode in Energy Manager. This isn't a case of 'plugged in, not charging' it doesn't even recognise it as being plugged it. This issue was not present earlier today and it was working fine with the charger. It is also the original charger that came with the laptop and has had no previous issues. I believe the last time it was working I pressed the power button to hibernate the laptop and then later removed the power cable. Upon turning it back on the laptop froze momontarily before working again. Upon inserting the power cable nothing appears to happen. Thanks in advance for any help.

After I did battery guage reset using Lenovo energy management, battery drained, stopped charging. I had to remove battery, connect AC, Turn it on, then put the battery back inorder to charge it.Once I disconnect AC, I have to repeat whole operation to make it charge again. I tried different solutions that I found on this forum and on the internet, None of them worked. However, I found that if I disconnect the AC and measure the the terminal voltage, it will start 8-10v and count down to 0 slowly. I have to unplug and plug it back (from the main) to get 19.5V, Is that normal? Also I tried using another charger which is (toshiba 19.5v, 3.42A), sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. I have also ran a battery pack check, it gave me ~12.4v /Resistance of 8k ohms. My battery is healthy and in good condition. There is no Service Center near the city I live atm, and sending it with mail will cost a lot. So I'm looking for help. Thanks in advance.

With Win8 Enterprise When I connect it to a charger that is not the original that came with, I get a warning message inthe restart process which says that I'm using a charger that has low voltages. I select to continue, and when the Windows loads, the screen dimms with a very low light, almost implosible to work with. I tried to change in the BIOS the configuration and in the windows as well, but nothing prevent it from dimming. Can anyone assist in this matter?  Thanks.

Answer:W510 screem dimm very low when charging with an not supported charger

If it says the voltage is low, don't use that charger. You are likely to damage the power circuitry on the motherboard

My thinkpad has been having power issues for a while now, off and on. It used to be that it would think it was charging when the AC adapter was plugged in, but still only run off the battery and discharging it. Now it'll run off the AC adapter, and says it's charging, but won't actually charge the battery. I've tried with two different batteries and three different AC adapters, but no difference. Is there some trick to fixing this? I'm afraid that if I send it in (which I've done before), they won't accept it because there are cracks on it, so I assume I have to fix it myself, or pay to get it fixed.

It took 4 hours to charge it from 20% to 100% Is this normal

Answer:[L640] Charging takes longer not using the supplied charger?

Yeah, that would have something to do with it. You should always use the supplied charger.

A week away because of log in problems (Which Continue) and I really needed you guys!!!!
Acquired a replacement charger board for an Inspiron 1545 from e-bay. Fitted no problem and the laptop works although the batter icon in the system tray says "x% available plugged in not charging" where the "x" started at zero and slowly, so slowly increased ??) to over "90% Not Charging" at which point I removed the power lead to prove that it was in fact working on battery.
Tried from device manager to uninstall the battery drivers but when the lappy rebooted and reinstalled them - no difference.
Having loosely reassembled the laptop can anyone give me a clue? Is this a software, hardware driver issue or is it in fact the wrong charger board?

Answer:Dell Inspiron Charger Board - "Not Charging)?

By the way, forgot to mention, I also changed the battery because I actually have a scrap Inspiron 1525 as well.

I have a Compaq CQ61 with Windows 7 Home Premium x64. When I plug the charger in to the laptop, the light on the side will illuminate and the charging light in the front will go solid. When I boot into windows the battery icon will not show a charger connected, just my battery, although my battery will still charge. I have watched the charge rise while plugged in. If I remove the battery, then windows will switch to show an AC adapter.

I have replaced the battery with a new one and there was no change
I replaced the charger with a new one and there was no change.
I reinstalled windows with no change.
I ran SFC checker and no errors were found.
I uninstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery with no change.
I've switched power plans with no change.

I can't seem to get Windows to show a charger connected which causes problems with things I need to do occasionally that require a charger to be connected. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

But when I plugged in both, it is showing plugged in not charging. I took battery out and again inserted it but it is still not working. Now tell me what to do. How to fix this issue.

Answer:My laptop is showing Plugged in Not charging even after new battery and charger

Does the computer power on with the AC adapter and without the battery? If no, does power indicator light on the AC Adapter lit up ? Do hear a series of beeps or see any lights on the system? By the way, what your Dell model number and version of windows? Example: Dell Inspiron 3543, windows 10

Well, can you use the notebook without the battery but only in connection with the AC adaptor?
If yes, then the AC adaptor is OK and fully compatible.

The Ac Adaptor should support the 19V and 9,5A
The Ampere (A) value could be a little bit different. This is no matter but the Volt (V) value has to be the same 19V

In your case the battery could be faulty or there is some problem with power supply electronic on the motherboard.
But I think the battery should be checked firstly
