Question: Lenovo System Interface Foundation, Lenovo Yoga Mode Control, Lenovo Utility, Lenovo Companion

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

I have a problem with the Lenovo Systems Interface Foundation Driver. It's not working although it shows under System Devices to be installed, the latest version, but I cannot use any of my Lenovo apps. Under events in Systems Devices it has a note that says : "Device ROOT\SYSTEM\0003 requires further installtion" What can I do th get the driver working as it should. Thanks

ok IBM please fix this issue with both applications id love to use both with my x200t appears most of us are having this issues where the SystemInterfaceFoundation.exe even after being installed isn't seen in either app and everytime I open the companion or settings app both keep redirecting me to the SystemInterfaceFoundation download page please fix this asap, also there is a Bluetooth issues under the new settings were by default its turned off and when ever I try and turn is on the button then moves back to off on and off on and off even thougth Bluetooth is on thank you Steven

Somewhere along the line I had sign in and installed the Lenovo ID app, but can't sign in Please see below:  Ok, I think I actually want to change my email address completely, but please see the rest below. I run into a bummer... Recently successfully updated my IdeaPad Z580 to Windows 10 Home Single Language, I'm actually dual booting a clean install and the upgrade and that on the UEFI firmware setting. My problem however is with the #Lenovo_ID app in the Windows Store. As far as I understand Lenovo has finally merged all accounts, from support forums to product registration and so on and so on... But I can't sign into it, I keep on getting the "Incorrect input. Please check again." validation message. I can only think it's because my email address (which is your Lenovo ID) had "dots" in. I've tested on the support website again by signing out and in again, then of course I tried changing my email address which will also be great (so that it's the same on Microsoft and Lenovo). Who how do I contact the best in this regard as well as letting them know about the possible "bug".Well, everything really. Windows 10 is new. Windows Store is new, Lenovo ID is new... I reckon the app is the issues, but I'd still like to change my email address.

Ok i really like the new lenovov apps except that every time i open companion i have to re download the systeminterfacefoundation.exe file and run it or i cannot use the app at all, and then the app does not hold the notification setting i have to turn that on each time. also do i still need the old lenovo support program and the LVT program i cannot find any info on these issues

Juat an update on this issue i called Lenovo Tech Support they have NO IDEA what companion even is, the Tech i talked to seemed suprised that there was even a program called Companion, which explains why there has been no replies.

Hi all,  I have lost the automatic keyboard backlight setting on my X1 Yoga 20FQ. I now only have three options; off, low and high. This was after a clean install of Windows 10 x64. All known drivers have been installed from the Lenovo support pages. Searching previous forum posts suggest installing ThinkPad Settings Dependency however this has now been widthdrawn and replace by Lenovo System Interface Foundation which I have installed. anyone got any suggestions? Thanks inadvance.

Hi everybody i hope you are all doing great. Laptop Details:Lenovo Y50-70 Laptop (Lenovo) 203784720hq512ssd960m16gb ram I made a clean install to my lenovo laptop so I lost some essential applications that came with my laptop. I installed almost all the drivers and apps at lenovo driver support download page without problems but i could not find some of lenovo apps that came in my laptop when i bought it and I really need them. The only one available in the driver download page were Lenovo energy manger. The most importants for me that i need are lenovo onekey recovery app and lenovo updates. For onekey recovery I only need the app, not the files to restore the whole partition, because the recovery partition is intact, I did not format it. So I only need the app that opens it. Th apps I want to get back are:1. Lenovo Onekey Recovery app - The one I am more interested in.2. "Lenovo Updates' (lenovo updates is the name of the app) The scond one im am more interested in.3. Lenovo Settings4. Lenovo companion If someone can guide me to where to download each of them, it would be great. I would need for windows 8.1 64 bit or windows 10. Thank You, I hope you can help me.

Go to the Windows Store and do a search on "Lenovo."   You will find almost all the apps you need are available there.

I'm running the latest version of Windows 10 (Anniversary Update - Build 14393.693) clean installed on  a Yoga 2 Pro (20266 / 80AY) BIOS 76CN43WW. The "Lenovo Yoga  Mode Control" version 2.0.0.9 (ymc.exe) has consistently crashed every day for the last few months. Crash reports are logged. Using Windows 10 version 1511 and all updates.  Used the Lenovo System Update and everything has been updated.  I wanted to turn on the built-in camera on my Lenovo Thinkpad Edge 530, the F5 key, and it came up with a message saying, "This key combination opens the Lenovo Settings Program. You do not have the Lenovo Settings Program installed on your computer. To launch the program using this key combination, install the program first." I went and downloaded the Thinkpad Settings Dependency for Windows 10, restarted the laptop and it still doesn't work. Even the Lenovo System Update program has it and I also downloaded it.  I restarted the laptop again and it still doesn't work. I then went to install the Lenovo Settings App on the Windows store and it doesn't look like the right one plus it still didn't work. My other problem is with the Lenovo Companion App from the Windows Store.  It worked before but now it ask to "Please install or update the Lenovo System Interface Driver for full functionality of Companion, then restart the app after installation."  I have installed the Lenovo System Interface Driver multiple times and it still popped up that message.  Yes, I have restarted the laptop and Companion.   Is there a reason why these issues are happening and how to fix it?  Thank you in advance.

First issue: When I first started and set up my new Edge 15, Lenovo Companion cleary showed a temperature reading for the CPU.    The screen shot for this app also shows a "Health Check" icon but this is not showing on my laptop.  At some point this feature (CPU temp reading) vanished.   A call to tech support was inconclusive.  The rep advised windows update took it away. Second issue:  Lenovo system update starts, finds and update then soon after quits with a popup: "No packages available for device."    Does this indicate it found something but fails, or that there's no updates available?  If it's the latter, it is an odd way to indicate such.   Interested in a fix por both of these issues.  Thank you

Those software are not on the oficial drivers webpage of lenovo.comI did a window 8 clean install on my Yoga 13 and those are the only two software I havent found yet can any one help me

They're not available on the website; nor are some of the other included utilities. I posted a similar topic a couple of weeks ago, and it was merged with a topic that had other people asking the same question, but there's been no response from Lenovo. The moral of the story right now is... Don't do a clean install of Windows.

Unfortunately, System Health in Lenovo Companion requires Lenovo Solution Center: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/migr-73783. Unfortunately, Lenovo Solution Center is not available on the Yoga 2 (13?). We apologize for any inconvenience.

I used Lenovo Settings on my Lenovo Yoga 3 11 for the battery conservations mode. So I was forced to install Lenovo Companion since it recently replaced Lenovo Settings.Ever since I did this, I have noticed the following:* Screen brightness keeps changing by itself slightly* Screen contrast keeps changing by itself slightly* Colours look muted and unsaturated, and filtered. Makes the sceen look worse than it should.* trackpad is only ignorred if the tablet mode is fully flat. The slightest opening causes the trackpad and keyboard to become sensitive. All of this irrespective of whether Dynamic Brighness Control is enabled or disabled in Lenvovo Companion hardware settings, and regarless of whether recommended hardware settings are used.Anyone else noticed anything similar? I'll report back after I've uninistalled the app to see whether any of these behaviours disappear.

Answer:Noticed issues ever since I installed Lenovo Companion (which replaced Lenovo Settings)

So I deactivated "Change brightness autoatically when lighting changes" in Windows Display Settings. This seems to have been the cause of the brightness and contrast changes, but the colours still look blander than I recall. Sorry to suspect Lenovov Companion so quickly, but the changes coincided with it's installation. Admittedly Windows 10 Fall edition just landed too.

When I do a Hardware scan using the Companion all areas go through OKButWhen I use the Solution Centre for Hardware scans it stops at Mathermatical Operations test & goes no further.Question why?

Hi, a couple of weeks ago, I tried to open Lenovo Settings and it instruct me to uninstall it, as all functions are now integrated to Lenovo Companion. I did, but noticed that the Lenovo Battery Gauge still points me to Lenovo Settings (left click on the battery gauge). I uninstalled Companion, and Settings, rebooted, and installed companion again, but looks the Gauge does not uninstall. How can I remove the gauge and make it point to companion? Thanks!

Recently, whenever I launch "lenovo Companion" and choose "system update", the "critical auto-updates" (under schedule lenovo updates) runs forever and never come to an end! This has never happened before and it seems to have something to do with your recent sysyem down or configuration change.

Use the windows store for latest Companion version.Use SIF download from  Companion offering, not SIF10ww512.exe on the support page.Best solution: Discard Companion and install the latest System update.systemupdate5-07-0027.exe. Can somebody help? I would like to know if this software can work on a G560 running Windows 10? I have upgraded to Windows 10 Professional. Lenovo Companion comes with Windows 10, while Lenovo Solution Centre is something I can download.

The Lenovo Solutions Center (LSC) has been tested for Windows 10 but currently, there are certain limitations of the app. like the Windows Update feature of LSC stating that Windos is not up to date (see this thread).
 
Lenovo Solution Center for Windows 7/8/8.1/10 (64-bit)Version 2.8.004
 
You can opt to install LSC and use its other features (e.g., Hardware Check-up, Device Manager Issues, etc.) or you can just skip LSC for now and install it later once the new version comes out.

Hello, I need help on my Lenovo Companion app with it's dust removal option.
 
I just bought my Lenovo ideapad 700 for a week now.
 
Previously I had the dust removal option in the Lenovo Quick Optimizer widget on taskbar.
 
After I turned it on, the option never existed anymore in the quick widget and even in Lenovo Companion app itself.

Does anyone know the functions of the Lenovo Utility app? I am aware that it flashes up with an on screen symbol when the caps lock or num lock is pressed but what else can it do? I only ask as I want to disable it in order to stop the on screen notification that caps lock is on from appearing everytime I press the key. However I read somewhere that the app also handles the battery management and don't want to disable it if it will harm my pc. When I go into details in task manager it just appears as Lenovo Utility. So can I safley diable it? or will it cause an issue? Thanks

I know what the EM is but what is the Lenovo Utility doing in startup found in Task Manager? It shares the same icon as EM.

On the Yoga 2 Pro, it fixes the display's yellow issue. If you remove that from startup, expect to have mustard yellow.If you don't have the Y2P, you can remove it from startup.

Hello,  When I try to run the "Optimize Your ThinkPad" It hangs up on the PC Cleanup and doesn't progress to System Accelerate, or Critical Update.  Is this something I should be concerned about, as my machine seems to be running fine?  Also in Companion, when I try to run the Hardware Scan, it says it cannot run the scan at this time.  Both operated as expected a couple weeks ago.....Thanks for any guidance.John

I upgraded to windows 10 during July 2015. Lenovo companion used to work for system information, wrannty information, syatem check and optomization but not for sytem update. Recently from a week or so it has stopped working. Whenever I launch the application, it shows up the logo and within fraction of seconds the process is killed and i am not able to use the application at all. Any solution to this problem.

How to recall a missed message from Companion? I just bought  a Yoga 3 Pro and was trying to familiarizing me to the new system. There was a frist message in Companion with something like "Introduction to the Yoga 3 Pro and what the most important steps to do". Once the message is opened and you click somewhere else, the message is gone. Thanks for help.

Its not really a helpful message, if thats any comfort.
The message might come back if you restart your laptop or maybe tomorrow. I have seen that happen in mine.
 
Also, a tip, do not use the Lenovo OKO to ever make your laptop faster/cleaner. It will make it worse. I did that and then had to roll back the changes.

Hi, I reinstalled window 10 Pro to Factory and now Lenovo companion application is not detecting any need for drivers.I have to install the new driver manually when they come out.On the home page of Companion App my system product number and serial are detected and accurate. Is there anything to be done to reste the baseline to allow the system to dectec delta in the driver version? thanksLaurent

I decided to use my Lenovo Companion software for the first time since upgrading to Windows 10 a few months ago. The computer has been working fine but I thought I should give it a checkup after all this time The Companion utility required me to update to the Lenovo System Foundation which I downloaded and installed. After a reboot, I ran "Optimize Your Ideapad" -> checkup from the Lenovo Companion utility, which identified 6 items to be optimized. I clicked Optimize, rebooted the machine and ran the utility again and it identified the same 6 items to be optimized.  I clicked Optimize for a second time but this pattern just repeats, nothing actually seems to get optimized. The utility seems to accomplish nothing. Now I have a new problem. When I'm using my computer on battery and I plug in the AC adaptor, it locks up every time. I assume this is due to updating the Lenovo System Foundation and/or using the utility to optimize my computer, because i never had this problem before I stupidly decided to trust this piece of crapware. I intend to use Windows System Restore to roll back prior to all of this, and then uninstall Lenovo Companion altogether.  The Lenovo System Foundation and Lenovo Companion aren't required components for the notebook to run, are they?

Hi  We have purchased a Lenovo Yoga Laptop on 20.01.17. From 10th of April onwards , there is some issues with Laptop Power Button .We are not able to switch it on using power Button. We had a talk with call center executives, Senior Executives & service Head of Kolkata, but still there is no proper update. We are still in Dark .They are not able to provide any proper information about parts availability.Ticket Ref No. is 7007963157.As the Laptop is very high valued  & purchased on the month of Jan.We are in regular touch of Service Head since last week & he is still not able to provide proper info about the parts availability .NOw he says he is sending an engineer to inspect.THis is not at all acceptable.  Any suggestions Would be helpful.

I recieved my Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 11e a couple of days ago and it came with a lot of bloatware, or at least what I thought was. I started uninstalling a lot and everything seemed to work fine. I restarted it, but when it came back, I noticed the touch screen would not work. I went into the Device Manager and realized that one of my I2C drivers had the triangle with the exclamation was on one of them. After trial and error, I realized that disabling and re-enabling the driver would allow my touch screen to work. After a restart, however, I was back to square one. My wife bought her the same Lenovo Yoga and I have been compairing the two. I just noticed that I am missing the I2C controllers in the System Devices in the Device Manager as well. I have tried booting from an installation from hers and even copying the drivers and System32 folder to no avail. If anybody has any solutions, please help. I have tried everything I knew and everything I could find. Thanks in advance.

What happens when you install the i2c driver for your machine?  Before doing so please verify the machine type (20D9, 20DA) as there's another machine type option available.  Downloads found by using SUPPORT above and entering Yoga 11e.

I have some problems with the Lenovo software. Lenovo Account Portal does not launch Lenovo Companion and Lenovo Settings. Also, Lenovo Solution Center is missing from the Start Menu. The second problem is that some tiles are blank in Start Menu. Seemingly it's the apps that aren't Metro. I'm not sure when the problem started, but I think it was like that since I got the PC. If I right click the apps, the only option will be "Pin to Start", and with some apps: Share and Rate. Here's a picture of the problem:I did already try:Restarting the PC.Doing scannow, DISM, and scannow again.Fixing Registry errors with CCleaner.Updating BIOS and drivers. What can I do to fix the problem?

Hello, My Lenovo yoga 3 pro 1370 is barly 5 months old, this morning when i tried to switch it on. it is stuck at the lennovo screen.I treid accssing the BIOS screen but even if the press the button it still wont go past the lenovo logo screen.Please help  Thank you,Shyam Jampala

New Yoga 700-141SK: Ran the Lenovo Support Center Hardware Scan and the Video Card Mathematical Operations Test has failed rendering the Report: WVC007002-UL7BPL. Is there a tried and proven solution out there? I have had a look at the solutions on the forum and am not satisfied that the solutions offered prove that the problem has been resolved. It is reasonable to expect Lenovo to make available a solution as a matter of course instead of end-users of "afflicted" Lenovo devices having to request/search for a solution(s).

Is the internal hard drive the same size for both the Lenovo S230U Twist and the Lenovo Yoga? I'm being prompted to upgrade on warranty to the Yoga from the Twist and don't want to lose my information. Thanks!

Have you seen this Lenovo to Manufacture in US.  If I had a dollar for everytime I have seen "backlight bleeding issue" in a whining  pathetic I returned this or that type post or review, I would be a rich man. Seriously, all you have to do is look at amazon or new egg and you will see thousands maybe tens of thousands of these posts. I quess coming up with something original would be to taxing.

My son accidentally got his leg caught in the cord of his laptop when he got up and the laptop  fell approximately 2 feet to the tile floor.  It boots up but stays on the Lenovo splash screen.  If I go into the BIOS and select System Recovery it goes through the "Loading files..." process, the Lenovo splash screen appears with the dots going in a circle but, then after about 2 minutes of that the screen just goes black.  If I tilt the screen forward or back I can tell it is still backlit just with nothing to display.  Anything we can try?

Purchased a brand new ThinkPad Yoga 14 Ultrabook, I have it one week.  I called Lenovo for support on the pen and touch screen driver and they want $70 before they will help.  Reps said that this issues has been resollved but that  I need to pay ANOTHER $70, on a machine that just came out of the box, if I want to know what it is. Disappointed to say the least!  If there's a Lenovo rep that wants to make this better, I'd appreciate it.

The lenovo thinkpad s1 graphics drivers are so old... its so annoying. i am using intel latest may release for intel hd graphics 4400 and it has better performance and quality even though it uses 1gb ram than the lenovo 2014 july update which has 2gb!! lenovo.... somebody pls incorporate the new drivers into the old one.... could that be so hard?? u guys need to carry your customers along.....why edit the graphic cards when u dont plan to ugrade the drivers.. 4400 is still one of intels high graphics cards and they are updating...lenovo are just interested in making people buy laptops and not upgrading them...that super laaaaaaame!!!!!!!!

I don't see why you want to update your graphics drivers. If it works, it works. If there aren't any bugs there is nothing to worry about. And as far as gaming performance goes, it is still going to be slow and barely going to make a difference.If the generic drivers from Intel, Nvidia or AMD work use those. But make sure that brightness keys etc work correctly.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 910 wont load pass the Lenovo screen.

Try getting into BIOS first and loading default settings. To do this, press the small "Novo" button (you'll need a paperclip for this), and select "BIOS setup". From there, use the arrow keys to get to the "exit" tab and select load default settings. 
 
If this doesn't work, let me know.

I just wanted to hear your opinion on what Lenovo default applications are actually useful. So far I haven't found much really. A few examples: Yoga Chef: The voice and motion control didn't really work that well.Dragon Assistant: Didn't really work that great either.Cyberlink PowerDirector: Looks like a nice app but doesn't really work with the default resolution.All the other stuff seems really pointless too. What do you think?

I had purchased lenovo idea pad y530..aftre 3+months i had problem with keys and battary holders lock system (broken)..after i spoke to customer service(cs) i sent my system for repair to service depot told that will be repaird for free of cost...after 1 week got mail saying that it will cost me $ 170 dollars..then i called to cs and said abt email..he said depot service people dos'nt see so i will escalate the issue and will receive call within 5 business days ...no call no responce tHE CUSTOMER SUPPORT IS SUCH A JOKE, NO ONE WILL CALL ME BACK....after a week i called them again to find the status..i kept me on hold for couple of times as he says tht system is not able to pull the case ..some times he says let me try from other system ..kept me on hold...like that he was on call with me for around 1 hour 40 mins...conclusion is nothing he says i have to pay for it to get repair other wise they send me back without repair....stupids each time THEY will say different resoponses .........it's brand new system...taken care well ..but i hope they use cheap material...otherwise how  the lock system will broke....no response so ridiculous...so stupid that i brought this lenovo system ...i never expected this from lenovo at all..... Note from Moderator:  Fixed the case as it was impossible to read.

On the Lenovo Onekey Recovery, I selected the option to restore system partition to its initial status. Now I'm not sure what this does exactly, but it then asked for what language I wanted to use and then username and password. And before I could type in anything, the screen turn black and no matter what I did, it wouldn't budge from there. Now I don't know if I accidentally removed windows and I don't know how to get it back. Does anyone know what options I have?

I've been using conservation mode for my new (1 month) lenovo laptop every time I put the AC adapter in it. I thought that this was going to help me endure my battery life, but in the end I've stacked with the fact, that battery's stamina went much more lower. For example, I could use my laptop in a battery economy mode/conservation turned off for 5-6 hours, now it barely lasts 3 hrs with the same settings and the same pattern of usage. Just for record, 21 minute of watching a film costs my battery from 10-20% now, while before it was not an issue at all, I hardly can tell that it drained me more than 5%. Also, right now, while typing this, I've noticed, that behaviour of my percentage bar is also really strange: first it shows 75%, then, after 5 minutes, it showes 73%, without getting through 74%. And as a one big plus to that, my battery status says that my battery is normal, just normal, while before it was great or something like that. I find it strange because it is 1 month old notebook, as I mentioned earlyer. Now I am trying to recalibrate my battery, for the 3d time, hoping it would help me, but I really wish to hear your opinion about that, maybe there is something that I don't know about, something that can help me. P.S. It is 70% now, gezus

I just noticed that there are few battery information missing in Lenovo Companion.It shows status, remaining %, capacity, voltage, charging cycles yet not showing wattage, temp, manufacturer date and first date used is it as it should be or am i missing something?

The newest Intel Video Driver that Lenovo Companion has made available (21.20.16.4678) has an issue ive found that wasnt present in the previous one, and is not present in a newer version (22.20.16.4718) installed automatically through Windows 10 after uninstalling the driver through "Add or remove programs". The bug is that certian (maybe all?) OpenGL applications seem slightly zoomed in. I tested this with Genymotion VM's, after the install of the new driver they all seemed to run as if the window border diddnt exist, clipping the edges of what is shown in the window (much more noticable at the top due to the title bar). Ive restored from backups and manually installed that driver from Lenovos driver download page for this system and the same issue occures. While its possible its an incompatibility with that software, it is not present in the newer drivers (this "new" driver is actually alwready old) so it might be worth pushing a newer driver.

Following a clean install of Windows 10, the Lenovo Companion app was reinstalled.The User Guide section is selected   Screen refreshes only to tell me that the document can't be found and displays a url for the Lenovo support website.  I've downloaded the relevant User guide, but unsure where it needs to be stored for the Lenovo Companion app to detect and display it. Could somebody more knowledgeable provide me with the filepath & filename please? Minor loose end I'd like to tidy up.Gracias ThinkPad Amigos.

Short story about myself:I am a designer (print/web) and a coder (Web). I started my studying and thought it was time to get a Notebook as the iPad would not cut the productivity needed anymore. I was mostly working at the office or at home. But studying and the big breaks would make it impossible to get along both of those places so I needed a way to work while I was on the go. So I decided to buy a Notebook. It was down to a few models but the Lenovo Yoga 13" caught me.My i5 version had some great specs. Starting at 8GB ram going down to the IPS screen at HD resolution all was fine.  I picked it up in February just before my birthday as a little present and motivation for myself. Trouble began right after I received it. The Space key was not responsive on the bottom left corner and the keyboard was wobbly. I was kind of disappointed as I have always read that Lenovo does great Keyboards, the Yoga does not seem to have one. I know that the keyboard won't be as great as the mechanical Keyboard I have lying around here, but that bad ?The keyboard is what I would imagine a keyboard would feel like printed on a pad of silicone. Fan Noise, unbearable. Working in a quiet environment is impossible. I don't want to hear any noise from a device that is using an SSD. Other manufacturers are able to shut down noise, why is Lenovo not able to ? So I just bought a new Yoga 13 ultrabook and the thing is amazingly versatile.  I also decided to pick up the Lenovo sleeve in order to add a layer of protection. It appears as if the tablet has been accumulating an "uncleanable" spot on the cover where the four rubber feet would normally come into contact with it when folded into a tablet mode.  These four spots on the cover are not coming off with light cleaners and I even tried some Simple Green...no luck.  They are exactly located in the spots where the feet touch the cover and leave a noticeable mark.  I don't know if this issue is due to the sleeve since I have only ever used the ultrabook with the sleeve. I called tech support and they haven't a clue and so I am wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue?  Perhaps I should return the sleeve and exchange the ultrabook for another to start fresh. Thanks for any help or insight.

Initial problem:On the  29th June 2016 my laptop suddenly turned off and now only the backlit keyboard lights up and goes off again and the power button just goes on and off.After about 5 minutes of use before the error the screen went blue and shut down. After restarting, as it went onto the desktop the screen flickered constantly and was unusable. I then turned it off again and it wont turn on since. My issue now:Anyway after emailing lenovo, and sending it off they said it was the RAM. However after enquiring over a month after sending it off and paying for the repair they replied with:'We have received feedback from our repair provider in relation to your device in repair. Unfortunately due to non-availability of parts we are unable to complete this repair. We will send your faulty device back to you free of charge. Once we have the part in stock you can re-book the repair again free of charge.' Since last summer, I have emailed multiple times and they have replied saying it still isn't in stock. I just feel like I am being treated unfairly as the laptop wasn't even 2 years old and it's broke and they will not fix it. I don't want to have to  do it myself as that will probably cause its own problem, but its the principal that they should fix their mistake! I have seen a youtube video of the same problem on the same laptop so it is obviously an issue. Any ideas on what I can do to get this issue solved would be great, even if its the email to ... Hi everyone!I am thinking about purchasing the Lenovo Digitizer Pen for ThinkPad Yoga Notebooks, which should work for the Yoga ThinkPad series, but would this pen work for my Lenovo Yoga 500 15? I know nothing about the difference between the Yoga notebooks/laptops and I am worried that my model may not be compatible with the interactive pen (or would not provide as much of accuracy in touch sensitivity). Thanks for your advices :-)!

Santa delivered a Lenovo 510-AST looks great, santa?s Elves at the store said that a Lenovo Active Pen 1 GX80K32884 would work with it..... The laptop seems great, the usual mega GB of updates from windows, and setting Gmail up with outlook was like code breaking the CIA !!! The the pen, how can Lenovo not have instructions on how to turn it on ??????  I don?t know if its on or not, doesn?t appear in the Bluetooth device list on the laptop... So is this Active Pen computable with this laptop ?If it is, how the chuff do you turn it on ? If not compatible, what Other active pens are comparable ? frustrated... grrrrrrr

I downloaded the Lenovo Utility from the Yoga 910 drivers page, but it doesn't do anything after install. I've navigated to the Program Files/Lenovo/Lenovo Utility folder and clicked on LenovoUtility.exe but nothing happens. I was under the impression this app controlled the hotkeys. What am I missing? Also, is there an app that I can install that will keep the Lenovo drivers updated?

I've discovered the DirectShare capability that came installed on my Y560 IdeaPad that came with Windows 7. This application perfectly suits my needs since I still do certain work on my J115 (3000 series) tower system that runs Windows XP. The DirectShare app gives directions on how to install DirectShare on the other system but it does not make it clear whether or not WinXP systems are supported.  Anyone know?  If not is there a comparable freeware app that does this?  Thanks.

I did a search on this Forum and could not find anyone who has reported a similar issue so I decided to post this. I have a Jambox Bluetooth speaker and I was able to pair it successfully for a few days after setting up my new Lenovo X220T Tablet on 6/6/2011. However,  today (6/12/2011), when I tried unsuccessfully to play music through my Jambox speaker, I discovered that the Bluetooth choice had totally disappeared as an option when I brought up the Software Wireless Radio software with [Fn] [F5]. Also, the existence of any Bluetooth capacity had also disappeared from Device Manager. Additionally, when I then attempted to install the Bluetooth driver for the X220 Tablet from the Lenovo website, the driver would not install and indicated that it was not able to install because it could not find Bluetooth on my computer.I spoke with a customer service representative (CSR) at Lenovo service in Atlanta, GA on 6/12/2011 at 4:30 PM PDT. We restored the original BIOS settings and the Bluetooth, which had disappeared earlier, now showed up in wireless devices.The Lenovo CSR ssigned me a case number. However, oddly enough, he could not find a record of my machine in the system even though it had arrived on 6/2/2011 and I attempted to register the machine twice online over the past week..The CSR recommended that I call Lenovo at +1 (888) 776-0920 8:00 AM EDT to provide the case number and ask them to register my computer in the system manually, even though I made the two at... hi! yesterday i ran Kaspersky virus scan tool and it detect file named "tvtfilter.sys" as suspicious file and thefore delet it. today when i was restart my laptop, i got error message on startup that say: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error! "C:\Program Files\Lenovo\Rescue and Recovery\rrservice.exe"  abnormal program termination.  after some google search i've understand that "tvtfilter.sys" was critical file of "Rescue And Recovery" system.so, any one with "Rescue And Recovery" running on his laptop can upload for me this file?it's located in "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DIRVERS\" and it's name is "tvtfilter.sys"thank you! BTW, ive tried to re-install it but it wont let me because of some error message

Even though the System Update wouldn't work on an A520, as it couldn't find any packages for my A520, it still suppressed the warning on the LSC about needing "software updates" I think you might find the same problem when running the updater on your Q190.
 
I wanted to run the Lenovo Solution Center, and it wouldn't work without the System Update to confirm that I don't have an  "applicable package for your system" Once run, I didn't have any more "!" errors on the LSC Toolbox Launch Icon on the taskbar.

So to put simply, the LSC, and the Lenovo System Updater, have been built for the Think branded systems. Your IdeaCentre Q190 is not on the list, HOWEVER that doesn't mean that it wouldn't work, just that it's Not Supported.

In the past, I have been able to receive the latest updates via Lenovo Companion > System Update (while occasionally accessing the actual System Update program). But lately when I access both System Update - the actual program - as well as the System Update option via Lenovo Companion, I am greeted with the following error message after loading at around 15% (or after not loading at all): "The System Update Server is currently unavailable. Please try again later." Is there a solution for this issue? I would appreciate assistance on this problem. I am currently a Windows 10 Home (Build Version 1703) user with a Lenovo Companion at Version 3.73.1.0. The last time I have checked my ThinkPad T450s for updates was yesterday at 10:40am HKT (Hong Kong Time) and the last time I made any updates to my computer was on May 31st at 10:37am HKT.

Hello, I am having a problem with Lenovo Companion, with System Update. I want to search for new updates for my computer, and its not possible, because the problem is:  When I click on the button "Check for new updates" it says for 5 seconds "Please wait while System updates searches for new updates for your system" and then it shows "There is a problem in retrieving new Updates. Please try again later." I have tried daily 5x last week to check if that System update is not going to work, unsuccessfully. Is there any solution how to "fix" or "solve" this problem?  Thank you, Sandro

Hi, Try to reinstall System Update:https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/tvsu-update And maybe try to open it separately from Lenovo Companion - could be somehow Lenovo Companion and System Update are out of sync.

So I just bought a Lenovo Ideapad U430 Touch. It is an amazing ultrabook, but it seems like it is missing some of the promised goods in this video:

I am refering to Lenovo Mind Control and Lenovo Voice Control. Mind Control is not supported for most programs and for those which are supported, it is not as smooth as the video. For instance, I cannot wave down to scroll in PowerPoints, all I can do is to wave back and forth (right and left). It does not even work in the picture gallary.
 
As for the Voice Control, I cannot find any indication that it is available on my system.
 
I know they are probably useless anyway, but at least they should be installed on my system. Any ideas on where to find these programs or how to access them?

HiJust installed security patch level 1 June 2017. Unfortunatley the microsoft office pacakge was not fully installed .Tablet is missing WORD app but the rest off office pacakge was installed is there anyway to run the same update again?or revert the firmware. kind regards

Hello,    I am looking to replace my aging Lenovo T420S and Lenovo x1 Carbon 1st generation. They have both served me well and I am happy with both.  I like the touch of Carbon but don?t use it that often. The machine will be perosnla machine but will be used for personal and business/work use. I saw the T460S and x1 Yoga yesterday at our IT department. I like the built quality of Lenovo T460S including keyboard but found X1 Yoga to be fragile. I couldn?t get my hands on X1 Carbon 4th generation and found out that it doesn?t have touch anymore. The weight difference is minimal between the three machines and I personally like the weight, feel and ruggedness of Lenovo T460S. Bottom line is does anyone have experience with these three machines? I can afford to replace only one machine now and it will be fully loaded (i7, 16GB and 1Tb PCIe-NVME drive). Is x1 Yoga rugged and reliable? The difference between X1 Carbon 4th Gen and T460S seems minimal. Thank You!Subhash

Hello everyone! I recentlly bought my lenovo Y50-70 and upgraded it to windows 10.Now, I want to keep my notebook up to date so I downloaded the Lenovo Companion app, but something strange is happening. It asks my to download and install the Lenovo system interface driver, if I want full functionallity, but when I press "OK" to download and install, nothing happens. I tried to delete the app, redownload and install several times - nothing works. Same thing happens with the Lenovo Settings app. I searched Google for the ast three days but I can't find a solution. The Lenovo Y50-70 drivers download page, dosen't have this driver and I don't know what to do.... Please advise

There's currently a long discussion about the Lenovo Companion 3.0 and Lenovo System Interface Driver in this thread and there appears to be a bug in the driver file that makes some of the features of Lenovo Companion / Lenovo Settings inaccessible.
 
If you downloaded the Lenovo system interface driver but nothing appears under Control Panel (classic view) > Programs and Features then it's likely that the content delivery servers are currently being worked on as discussed in the thread above.
 
 
For now, I recommend you disable/uninstall the Lenovo Companion / Settings app. until a stable fix is released.

Hello, I had some problems with the sound utility and, while trying to figure them out, I think that I deactivated or deinstalled the sound utility. I cannot turn the sound on anymore !Hereafter the error message I get on a regular basis : "Windows Volume Control Utility for Lenovo 3000 does not work". In parallel, I have another message indicating that "No Audio output is installed". Do I have to reinstall something? If so, can you please indicate me which software and the link to access it? Thank you very much for your answer !Karine

I do not seem to be able to set up security on a Lenovo Yoga 2. So have set up a password in Windows 8.1 power settings, so it should ask for password, but whatever I do, it seems like the machine will just bypass that step and auto login my account. And also in User Accounts the box for "Users must enter aname and password to use this computer" Still, after reboot or sleep mode, it seems like the machine just ignores this setting and logs me straight in.  Any suggestions

ThinkPad Helix 2, came with Windows 8, upgraded to Windows 10.  Having quite a few problems that I am solving one by one.  Computer is running slow and the memory is saturated. 
 
Try to run "Lenovo Companion" to see if I can address some issues I am having.  When I go to use this program, I get a popup to install "Lenovo System Interface Driver" for "full functionality".  After the file is downloaded, it will not completely install.  Get error messages toward the end.
 
Two questions:  1) Is Lenovo Companion helpful, or just bloatware?  2) If it is helpful, how can I successfully install it?

This is now my second Lenovo Yoga 720 13" that I recived from Best Buy. I returned the first one because I noticed the screen did not meet the rubber bezel at the top, exposing the inside of the monitor. This caused me to worry about dust and hair getting behind the screen and possibly destroying it. The second one has the same problem as well as many others. The power button on the first one clicked when I pressed it, however with this one there is no click and I must hold the laptop and press the power button all with more strength than a person should have to just to get it to turn the laptop on. Also the trackpad comes above the right side of the laptop where the left side rests below. There is also a strange rattling coming from the plastic peices at the bottom of the screen. Many of the keys on the keyboard stick at random points when I'm typing causing the keys to not type. Also many of the lights behind the keys are either burned out or extremely dim, now I find it hard to believe that they burned out from my using the laptop since it is fairly new. Lastly there is sharp metal sticking out on the right side of the laptop that often scratches me when I put it into tablet mode. I can still use the laptop, but I feel like I have to be overly careful with it because of all these issues. It is as if this laptop was never checked for defects before it was sent to Best Buy.

Hi there, I envounter some problem on my lenovo thinkpad Yoga (model 20CD-A00TME), not sure when the laptop started having this issue but it must been recent as I have done some updates on some device drivers and even the BIOS was updated. After the routing checkup from Lenovo Solution Center, it was found that there are some system devices which are disabled. Here are all the few system devices which are disabled and cannot be enabled: 1) DDP UMDF Driver2) Lenovo Primary iM Controller3) Lenovo Settings4) Lenovo Settings Camera Audio5) Lenovo Settings Power Current my laptop has Lenovo Dependency Package version 1.6.25.00. Initially, I thought these system devices were affected by the recent software update which were done in the past week but I have completely reverted the updates by performing a system restore. Just for references, here are the software updates which were installed & uninstalled: - Lenovo Peer Connect SDK (Version 1.0.0.7)- Intel PROSet/Wireless Software- Intel(R) PROSet/Wireless Software for Bluetooth(R) Technology- Lenovo Quick Control- On Screen Display Even after performing the system restore, the 5 system devices are still in disabled state. What can be done to fix this issue? Is it related with the recent BIOS update? Is there anyway to get newer drivers for these 5 system devices? Thank you for your help & support. Kind regards,Poon

Hi again, Found from the device status of these 5 system devices are having the same properties. Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) How to fix the incomplete or damaged configuration info in registry? Thank you.
