As I use it away from an outlet quite often. can anyone please help me? so far , all iv done is checked to make sure my drivers were up to date , and they are. So I'm not quite sure what the issue is.

Preferred Solution: toshiba satellite C55-C5246 , Battery percentage issue.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello everyone,

I recently got my Satellite L655-15M it?s been about three months and I?m getting a major technical problem. I have the laptop plugged in and the indicator said "plugged in and charging" but the battery percentage kept going down.
I tried restarting, reinstalling the Microsoft Battery control driver (which fixed charging problems before) but had no such luck this time. I also took out the battery and put it back in with no luck.

All the LED lights turn on the plugged in one and the charging one but the laptop refuses to go past the windows screen. I just tried turning it on again but now it will not even turn on towards the windows screen. I really don't have any idea what to do and my warranty is locally based but I?m currently abroad so I?m stuck. Please any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Answer:Satellite L655-15M is plugged in but the battery percentage kept going down

Hi buddy,

Wait a moment please: It?s a little bit confusing story.

At first the battery indicator of Windows shows charging battery but percentage kept going down any now you are not able anymore to start the notebook, right?

Well, you wrote that battery LED lights but what color? If battery is fully charged, the color changes from orange to white (or green).

Can you start the notebook with AC/DC adapter only?

Hello,

I have a Satellite A200 running under Vista and also under XP and I am NOT able to see the estimated battery time remaining. I only can see the percentage left.

For instance, I am using my notebook unplugged for more than 1 hour (my guest) and I only can see the percentage left (45%) but I cannot see the time remaining.

I have this problem with Vista or XP.

Is this natural? What can I do to see the time remaining?

Thank you,

Answer:Satellite A200 - I can't see battery time remaining only percentage

Sorry but I would like to know why you think it is a problem. Where you have found info that there must be shown ?battery time remaining??

I am new at this stuff and I seek help from all those who can give it. Ok so my first charger stopped working and I bought a new charger. The charger worked great for a few months after purchase. Until one day the charger stopped charging on and off. I unplugged it a few times and then it stopped working. I let the battery die after. I am guessing that it stopped working because i may have screwed up the charger socket by tripping on the cord thus pulling on it im not really sure anymore. The laptop is in a bad condition, it's four years old i think but it can still run. The battery is the same not change. HELP ME for I am an *****

Answer:Toshiba Satellite M45 Battery or Battery Charger Problem

You probably broke the internal AC adapter socket. It can be repaired, but you will have to take it in for service

So I just downloaded OneKey Optimizer for my Lenovo Z50-70 and there's a green battery icon on the lower right corner of my desktop. Sometimes it'll display the battery percentage, but most of the time it'll display the predicted amount of time the battery has left to sustain my laptop. How can I change the program so that it only displays percentage?

Answer:OneKey Optimizer: Showing battery time instead of battery percentage

I'm having the same problem too. My mom has a Yoga 2 13 and for some reason it did not come with OneKey Optimizer already on it. I downloaded it today from Lenovo's website and though some of the options on that app are on my computer but not on her app on hers, it works just fine. However, I can't seem to figure out how to change her battery icon from telling her the approximate time until the battery dies to showing the battery percentage, like it does on mine.Every time she plugs in the charger, though, the battery percentage displays itself on her battery icon, no doubt because it can't exactly tell how long it will take the battery to run out when it is plugged in, but when she unplugs the charger cord, it reverts back to showing how many hours and minutes it will last. This is very frustrating to her. I haven't been able to find answers to this question anywhere on the internet, so I hope someone will promptly repost a solution to this problem.

Hi
Anyone had this issue?

My battery indicator (Windows and also the Toshiba PM) don't show the remaining battey life in minute but only in percentage.
is it correct or there are some strage settings in power setting menu?

Thanks

Answer:NB200 - Battery indicator shows only battery life in percentage

Mine does the same, thats just how it is in XP. But I believe the Vista power saver shows the remaining time.

I think you will need to download a battery utility from the Internet to display the remaining time.

Hi

I wonder if anyone can help me? For some reason the battery power LED on my Toshiba Satellite M30 notebook stays on (and blue) when the battery is charged, even when the notebook is switched off and the power adaptor is unplugged from the back.

Any idea why this is and how I might be able to fix it please?

Thanks

Your battery may be bad, or the charging circuits inside the laptop may be damaged. Try another battery first

Model A35-S159. After installing a new battery, and getting a new power supply, sometimes, but not always, the battery discharges while on AC. The AC light stays on while the battery discharges. The battery always recharges when I turn the laptop off.

Sometimes I can turn it on and it won't discharge while on AC. Other times I turn it on and it immediately starts discharging. I can tell because the orange/green charge light doesn't come on. And still other times, it will stay at 100% charged on AC, and then suddenly, for no apparent reason, the charge light goes off and it starts discharging.

Any ideas would be appreciated

Answer:Toshiba Satellite Battery Problem

Good Evening petef, the batteries in these machines contain sensitive intelligent circuitry that often need a special charging routine procedure when they are replaced.

This battery circuitry requires to be accepted by the machine when a battery is replaced, this is to realign the battery condition and charge schedule with the actual computer.

It may be worth your while asking Toshiba about this problem directly.

Others may have different ideas.

The battery model no in the laptop was PA3399U-2BAS. A supplier sent a replacement - its no is PA3399U-1BRS. It said it had 95% capacity yet when the power cord was pulled out the laptop died and would not restart without plugging the cord back in.

Would this battery have been an acceptable replacement? The laptop will run on its old battery with its reduced capacity and does need to be replaced.

Any thoughts?

Answer:Battery for Toshiba Satellite Pro A100 M50

Just for your info:
According Toshiba specification with Satellite Pro A100 you can use follow batteries
PA3399U-2BRS(6cell),
PA3399U-2BAS(6cell),
PA3478U-1BRS(9cell),
PA3478U-1BAS(9cell),
PA3400U-1BRS(12cell),
PA3400U-1BAS(12cell).

Start notebook with AC power supply and without battery, put battery additionally and if the battery is recognized properly remove the AC power supply.

Hi, I bought a new Toshiba Satellite C70-B-33 in September 2015.
Recently I got a message on the screen to use eco mode in order to improve battery's lifetime.

I did so, then I got another message to decharge the battery to 50%.
So I pulled the electricity plug. Unfortunately I forgot to stop with 50%, instead, the battery was totally discharged. So I plugged it to the electricity net again.

But now, the indicator says "80 % left (mains operation, will not be charged). I took the battery out once already and put it back in but the problem resists. Is my battery damaged now?

Actually the opposite of what was intended has happened, following the Toshiba recommendation in order to prevent the battery from early death the action resulted in an early death of the battery.

It doesn't charge correctly the battery (still 0%) and although it is power connect, it goes in stand-by mode after a min.

Sorry for bad english and thank you a lot.

Answer:Toshiba Satellite P50-A-14J does not charge battery

Remove power cord. Remove battery. Press power button. Reconnect everyting and it should work or the battery is dead. Try a battery monitor utility (google) and verify if it can communicate with the battery. Check the battery pins if they are all ok or bent.

Can anyone tell me why the battery on this model sometimes cuts out?
I switched on my laptop tonight and got absolutely nothing - black screen and only the fan running.
I swooped battery with my daughter's laptop (same model exactly) and my laptop started normally.
I ask because this is not the first time this has happened.
Anyone know why please and how to correct it? It didn't work with the electricity plugged in either and i thought it should have done so why not?
Many thanks in advance

I appears you have may have a faulty battery. It is either not holding the charge or not charging properly. Switch off and remove the battery then connect the Adaptor/charger and try it again.

Answer:Battery percentage on the top

Welcome to Windows Central.
If you're referring to a Windows Phone (whether Windows Phone 8.1 or Windows 10 Mobile), then there's no way that can be done.
The closest you can do is download a battery status app that updates the live tile for Windows 10 Mobile. For Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 (or was it 2) you can pin the Battery Saver from the Settings to the start screen, that should display the battery percentage in a live tile.

Hello! Well my dad just bought a Laptop for his personal use about 3 weeks ago and yesterday he forgot the Laptop plugged in to the outlet for all day (about 10 hours) I told him there shouldn't be any problems, that day I received 2 GB of memory I ordered online and I just unplugged the Laptop and using ESD I open the bay and installed the memory, well my surprise when I turn it on was the battery at 3%, I was like: oh well he didn't plug the cord well or something and I plug it to the wall and the battery run out to 0%, I started to worry because it's not normal, then the battery status says "plugged in, not charging" all this is under Vista. I tried to change that but after 3 hours of being there looking for sometweaks to change that status of "not charging" I almost give up, when I took out the battery and then put it back and it start charging up to 100% in a couple of hours, I said well it's ok now, it was just the battery not properly assembled, today I turn on the laptop and it was on 0% again! I was like WTH is going on!! any ideas? suggestions? should I take it back to the store? I don't want to get there saying "oh the battery dies" and then end up being a software issue or something, please point me in the right direction, I will really appreciate your help!

About one and a half year ago i bought the Toshiba Satelite Pro 2100. Every thing worked perfect untill a month ago, then my adapter didn't workt anymore. With a multimeter I found out that it was broken, so I bought a new one (from you guys)

But 2 weeks later the new one was also broken. Then I used my dad's adapter (he has the same notebook)whichs fused in 1 week.

What is going on? Where's the problem. I think it's my battery.

Answer:Toshiba Satellite Pro 2100; battery problem (probably)

Hi

it seems that your AC adapter is damaged by voltage swing.

I can't image that the notebook which has the same voltage like the AC damaged the AC with a voltage swing!

IF you want you can contact a Toshiba Service Partner. They can check the power supply i the notebook and the AC.

Hi!

For the past couple of weeks I have been having trouble with the battery of my Satellite L50-A. It stays at 0%, even though it does charge. If I remove the power adapter, the notebook keeps working for a while. Now here comes the odd part. If the notebook has been charging for a while, it shuts down. If I remove the power adapter it will start again and still indicate it's at 0%, but now it works for about 1.5 hours before the battery is actually empty.

So I use my laptop without power until it shut down, then I charge it for a couple of hours and then it shuts down and we start all over.

Does anybody have any idea what I could do to solve this issue?

I have tried:
Charging it overnight without using the laptopUpdating several driversDisconnecting the battery, booting with power adapter, shutting down and connecting the battery again

Answer:Battery not charging on Toshiba Satellite A215

First you should check if the battery is correctly installed in the battery socket.
If it is, check if the cable is correctly plugged and that nothing is stuck in the cable port. Last, you could check if the cable is broken.

If none of these, i'm sorry, i can't help you.

I have a Toshiba Satellite L875D-S7332. I need a replacement battery but I don not want to buy a brand new one from Toshiba that costs $116. I've seen various replacements that advertise the same stuff for cheaper. One that claims is this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1Y10PC3668 but the voltage on that one is different from my laptop battery (10.8v). They claim it will work. Any opinions on the matter? Cheaper and functionally sound is what I'm looking for.
Thanks

Answer:Solved: Toshiba Satellite replacement battery

Toshiba Satellite L875D-S7332 (PSKFQU-008003)

Its detailed specifications indicate it came with a battery with these specs:
6-Cell, 67Wh, Lithium-Ion, Part #PA5025U-1BRS

According to the "Specifications" information for the battery you selected, that part number is listed, so it should be okay.

It's rated at 11.1 volts instead of 10.8 volts, but that should be okay.

Hey folks,

After a month of owning Click 10, my primary battery (the one in tablet) shows 12,5% (it went up from 1% to 2% to 4,6% and so on...) battery wear, and secondary (the one in keyboard) shows 1% battery wear... Is there anything to do in order to re-calibrate the batteries and gain run time back? The BIOS is updated to version 1.7.

I've tried both charging it after it hibernates on low power and charging it as soon as it gets to 10-15% power, but no luck.

Hello Toshiba-users,

I bought the "Toshiba Satellite M60-154" but I want to use it most of the time on AC Adaptor.

I have read the manual but they don't say anything about the battery-life for people like me who will use the laptop on AC Adaptor the most of the time.

I want to know if :

1) it's better to put the battery inside when I use the laptop on the AC Adaptor for long time (they say it's not good for the battery-life when it's full charged and when it is still charging...)

2) it's better to take the battery out when when I use the laptop on the AC Adaptor for long time and to check the battery out each week e.g. to see if it's still charged or not (they say that it's good for the battery-life when the battery is out of charge once a week)

In fact, what should I do to be sure the battery will have a long life knowing that I rather always use the laptop on Ac Adaptor.

Thanks for advices

Hello. I've browsed these forums before after needing help, but this is my first post. As you will be able to tell, I'm not that technically minded, so forgive me please if this question seems obvious to you. I'd sure appreciate any help.

I have a Toshiba Satellite M60 which is just over 2 years old. I've noticed recently that the battery life was getting very poor; it was running at little under 30 minutes if I was watching a DVD, for example.

Last week, the laptop would not turn on. It tried to get started, but then just cut out before powering up. I tried a few things, including taking the battery out, putting it back in and then starting again, and it then did start just fine. However, it would only start with the mains electricity not connected; only on battery alone. I am still starting the laptop like this, and the problem is still the same. To start my laptop, I have to remove my battery, put it back in, start up, and then when it has powered up, I put the mains power in. If I do this before, it won't start.

Do you think this is likely to be just the battery that needs replacing, or is the problem more severe? I am no longer under guarantee, so don't want to pay for a service if a replacement battery would solve the problem, but similarly I don't want to pay for a battery only to find that doesn't work, and the have to pay for a service as well.

I hope you can help. It will be much appreciated.

Answer:Toshiba Satellite M60 problem. Battery or worse?

You didn't say if it worked the other way around
Power in , Battery always out

If it works like that, then it's likely battery
If it doesn't then it's likely onboard power converter (that one may be tricky!)

By the way, when removing both power sources, you should hold down the power button for 30 secs, dispersing all internal voltage (this may also fix it)

Answer:My Toshiba Satellite C655 battery does not charge at all.

Remove battery but keep the charger plugged in. Can you run your laptop now on the charger alone ? If your answer is yes, then your battery or its charging circuitry might be at fault. If your answer is no, then your charger is at fault.CoolGuy

So, I just bought this new laptop with 1.8ghz, a 40gb hard drive, and 1gb ram for $120. I have installed all drivers provided by toshiba including the latest bios update. According to the online PDF user manual, when the battery is charging, it's supposed to say solid amber color, but mine flickers. It flickers very rapidly when the laptop is turned off in regular intervals. When it's turned on, it flickers about 8 times a minute, also at regular intervals. On the laptop power options, the battery always says 100%, but it won't even last one second when you unplug the laptop. My question is, is it the battery or the port receplicator on the motherboard that's out? I was told by another guy that the board was bad if it did 8 long flashes and then 2 short, but it's not doing that. I don't really trust this guy though, cuz he was one of those snakey horrible people that are just out to get your money. So, is it the battery or port receplicator?

BTW, I've already called Toshiba directly and all they tell me is to send it in to get looked at. They arn't allowed to say the answer to this question over the phone.

Am I the only one who thinks it's stupid that the phone battery percentage does not appear in the action center when talking on the phone? Twice my phone died while talking because my phone decided that the best time to not be informed of a phone battery percentage is when using the phone to make a phone call SMH.

Answer:Phone battery percentage

I hadn't noticed that. I'll have to take a look next time I'm talking on the phone (you can do that???).

The battery life on the yoga 910 has surpassed my expectations and is the longest running laptop ive ever owned. However the percentages are way off, doing no more work than web surfing it will tell me i have 2 hours left, around 30%. It will then shut off 15 minutes later without a notification that the battery is low or anything, Just turns off and i lose all my work. Am i missing something here? Ive already looked at the power settings and the critical battery option is hibernation and thats at 5%, the notification is SUPPOSED to come up but never does.

Hello,
I've always enjoyed a battery percentage indicator on the taskbar. Where you can click or hover over & it will give the percentage left & approximate amount of time left on the battery. It appears that in Metro it will only show an image of a battery where you can kinda tell if it's maybe halfway used, etc.

Is there a way to turn on an indicator or customize the existing one?

Thanks

Hi everyone This I'm sure is a stupid question with hopefully a simple answer. I've recently had my T42 wiped clean and debugged and no longer have my battery indicator showing at the bottom of the screen. Access IBM has also disappeared. I guess this is because I've lost the original programmes that enabled this to show.I've been onto the Lenovo downloads site and downloaded latest toolbox programme and a power management programme, but that hasn't helped. Any body no the solution to this?  Any help gratefully accepted. Cheers

Answer:Battery percentage indicator

rustyv, welcome to the forum, have you tried using System Update to get your T42 "up to date"? MS's .NET Framework 2.0 will be required, this is explained on the site. You can also find almost everything you need on this site.  My guess is that you need the Battery Maximiser and the Access Help drivers, don't forget to also install the Hotkey Features driver. Hope this helps

I'm using a Lumia 638. When I put my phone on charge, it shows like 2-3% even for like 10-20mins and even you check later on it shows random number like 80% or any, sometimes it even shows 100% too quickly as if it is fully charged. When I use my phone, it shuts down on any percentage, let's say 40% with a battery error as if it was on 2-3%. I'm not sure if it's the problem of wrong battery data percentage but I've just got new battery installed. This one works much longer than my last one. I've hard reset my phone before. Its build is 15063.608 No new update I see. Is there any new available? Let me know.

Battery Management Software Like Sony VAIO'sI need software that lets you cap your battery charge at 50%, 80%, 100% (default), or custome.Capping it at 50% increases battery lifetime. Supposedly, charging it all the way up to 100% all the time wears the battery down. (The utility that came with my Sony VAIO made such claims).I'd love to have something like that installed on my Toshiba Satellite U840. Are you familiar with software that has those features? By Toshiba or thrid-party - both are fine.Thank you,Ivan

Hi All

I have problem that my C50t-A battery life is very short (less than two hours) and usually use laptop for reading, so how to check the actual battery life and if there is problem in my battery. The application of health monitor shows me the battery health is good, but this actually not correct since I need to charge my laptop each two hours or may be less and this very noising since sometimes not easy to get charging in any place. Is there any programm or application to check my laptop battery?

Answer:Toshiba Satellite C50t-A - battery life is very short

Download a program called HWMonitor from cpuid.com to view the wear level of the battery.

Lithium batteries only last about 3-4 years before needing replacement. They lose about 20%-30% capacity every year.

I have this laptop for about five months.

At first everything was working fine. But suddenly a problem appeared with the loading of the screen battery, no matter how long I charge it, it stays stuck at 80 percent. So I can only get 40% overall battery now...

Since one of the main reasons I bought this laptop was its long battery life, this is a big problem for me...

If anyone could suggest any fixes for this, it would be much appreciated!

I ordered a new, higher capacity battery for my Toshiba laptop (Satellite A85-S107). The original battery was a 14.4V, 2000mAh model and the new battery is a 10.8V, 10400mAh model. The new battery installed fine and the computer worked fine with it but the charge status did not seem to display correctly, showing at first a 22% remaining charge, then upon a restart, showing 74% charge. Connecting the AC adapter did not show the orange charging indicator and the charge status did not change.

Following some advice on another forum, I restarted the computer in safe mode, let it operate without AC power until the battery discharged (3.5hours) and the computer shut down. I then connected the AC adapter, restarted the computer and this time the charge indicator flashed about once every couple of seconds, the charge status showed 2%. I turned off the computer and let it charge overnight, started the computer in the morning, the charge status was still 2% and the adapter was cool. Upon unplugging the adapter, the computer immediately shut down. How can I get the computer to recognize the new battery so it charges correctly?

I'm using inspiron 14 3442, early 2014. My battery is detected as plugged in and charging however the percentage is not increasing. I tried to use the diagnostic tool in dell website but could not find any problem so i cannot claim my warranty.
I've emailed the dell support service but they did not reply me.
does anyone have any idea what can i do?
thank you

Answer:battery charging but percentage not increasing

What is the charge level? If it is low and not increasing? If it's real low, the battery could be bad or the charging circuitry may be bad. While the charger is plugged in, remove the battery and then replace it after a minute. If this doesn't help, and the battery charge is high but won't finish charging, unplug the charger and drain the battery to below 5% and then try to recharge. If this doesn't help, it could be a bad battery or the charging circuitry may be bad. See if you can borrow a charger and battery from someone with the same laptop and see what happens. This will show you what is faulty. Post back the results.

I have purchased Lenovo Ideapd Z510 about 1.5 years ago. Installed Windows 10 via Windows update 3 months ago. My laptop was working fine until now. 1 week ago I was editing some document and suddenly laptop got switched off without any notification. It did not shut down rather it turned off unexpectedly. Battery percentage shown before tuning off was 70%. I tried to power it ON as well as used Recovery Key, but nothing helped. I plugged in the charger and noticed charge indicator was RED, which means battery is low. I turned on the laptop again and now battery percentage shown was 0. SoI decided to perform Gauge Reset using Lenovo Energy Manager which in turn will calibrate the battery.

After two days I though it is fine now. But I kep on my laptop for 2 hours and battery life shown was still 94%. I understood that wrong info is being displayed. Battery is probably failing. Replace battery. You can get new one from Ebay.
If you see the same behavior with a new battery, then there is a problem with the charging port or power adapter.

looks like there's a bug with the battery percentage. It seems to stall. When I restart it, its either drained or charged. Right after finishing the update, I plugged in the charger. It stayed at 76% for a long while. I restarted it and it was at 100%. Then it seemed to be stalled at 100%. I restarted it again and it drained to 97%. It seems to be working fine now.. But did anybody else experience this? I feel like this is going to happen again

Answer:Battery percentage stalling on 1020 cyan at&t?

I had a similar sort of problem with a Nexus 5, in which the battery usage stats stayed stuck during hours of normal use, giving the same unchanging grossly abnormal readings. I tried everything in the book to fix it with no apparent effect. In the end it cleared and returned to normal, whether because of anything I'd done I don't know.
Possibly in your case a battery calibration might help? And by the way, I've got high battery drain following the 8.1 update, which I'm trying to fix on my 1020, so you're not alone.

Welcome to the Forums.

If you charge the battery while the computer is off, aren't you still able to get 100% charge?

If the battery still doesn't reach 100%, can you try to download and run batteryinfoview to get a general information about the battery.

In addition, if you switch to a balanced power plan and toggle the Low battery notification and Low battery action under the Control Panel (icon views) > Power Options can you check if the low battery notification comes back.

Hello,
I was wondering if there was a program of some sort that displayed the battery percentage of a wireless device. I'm currently using this mouse at the moment:

Amazon.com: Belkin F5L075-USB-BLK 2.4GHz Wireless Optical Mouse Black: Computers & Accessories

As far as I know, there isn't a way to find out what the battery percentage is at. I've looked through Google and the only results I got back were for Linux and OSX.

Is there a program out there that can do this? Thanks.

Answer:How do I display the battery percentage of a wireless device?

The only way to get the battery percentage from a wireless device is if it transmits the data back to the computer and the driver software that comes with the device interprets it. You cannot take any random device and get that information. Based on what I see, your wireless mouse is just a cheap low tech wireless mouse, it will not provide what you want.

Hello everyone, I have a Toshiba Satellite P105-S6114 running XP. For the year that I've had it it has run great.  As of lately I haven't been able to use a CD in the DVD-R drive.  The CD tray opens, I put a CD into it, it tries to read it( I see the light turn on and hear the cd spin) but it just stops and won't recognize it.  I try to open it in "My Computer" but it just prompts me to insert a cd into the drive.  I don't know what happened in the past month to make this happen.  The catch is this.....  It will play a DVD just fine.  It recognizes it and plays it right away.  I updated the driver and even deleted the driver and started fresh.  Nothing worked. Has anyone ever heard of this?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

I have a Toshiba satellite s855-044 and am having issues with the power. I have looked up on countless forums and have been able to find people with similar issues but not the same. Basically the issue is that it will not turn on sometimes and wont show any symptoms of having power. Here is what i know about it:
1. The issue only comes up when i power off the laptop while it is unplugged.
2. None of the power indicators on the front light up, however when you look at it in a pitch black room it is VERY faintly blinking (indicator for when it is plugged in)
3. It turns back on usually after 10 or so hours of messing around with it. (Pulling plug out and putting it back in. Checking connections inside, etc.)
4. I have 2 batteries as well as 2 power adapters (chargers), trying different combinations of them do not seem to make a difference.
5. I have tried the method of unplugging and removing battery and holding the power button for around a minute, no results from that method.

If anybody could help me out it would be greatly appreciated!

Hi all,

My Toshiba Satellite A30-871 notebook has started discharging the battery whilst the mains power supply is connected (The LED shows that AC is connected but Laptop consumes battery power instead of charging battery and using AC power). When the battery reaches 0% laptop will switch off. Removing the power plug and reconnecting does not solve the problem while the computer is ON, only shutting down computer starts the battery to charge. Which means that I can use laptop as long as battery retains some power. Sometimes when the notebook is off and battery is being charged, battery charging LED starts to blink and I have to remove the power jack and plug it back.

I don''t think its a loose power connector because the light shows the power is connected.

I wonder if anyone got a solution for me.

Toshiba Satellite C50-A-156 battery fully died, now wont charge. Turns only for a second before turning off.

The laptop is connected to mains 99% of the time. I took it off the mains and the battery seemingly died completely.

I attached it to the charger, left it for ten or so minutes and tried turning it on only for it to die after a second or two. The light went from orange initially to the usual white, but the white seems duller/dimmer than usual. The fan starts but no response from the display. I tried holding the power button down after removing the battery and the charger but the same result. I've tried starting using just the mains without the battery, same result.

Any guidance would be appreciated as I'm at a loss with a seemingly bricked laptop out of absolutely nowhere, unsure of what the above symptoms suggest. Would appreciate some feedback before taking it to a tech and being charged for being told to buy a new battery/charger. My best guess is it's fried, in spite of the previously quiet and functioning fan or the CMOS is dead and needs replacing.

I've left it it to charge overnight and, fingers crossed, it'll be working by the morning.

I've read that the thing that destroys the battery fastest is overcharging the battery. That's why I want to turn it off. The only alternative that I have been able to find is unplugging the battery which means I have to restart machine from scratch, as opposed to waken it from sleep, every time I want to use it.

Is there a way to stop the battery from charging other than unplugging it?

I had purchased this device from amazon. Below is a brief history and the issues with the dock battery.

Initially turned the tablet on (while connected to dock) - Took over 30 minutes to charge it. I assume this was because of the battery being discharged. (Thankfully it did eventually start charging)In Windows 8.1. the dock battery was showing as 100% and the tablet battery was rising as it was being charged. The 100% seems to have been an issue with the installed bios on the machine (Which was showing 100%, when it was empty in reality)Updated the bios to V5. Now the dock battery was showing as 0%.Upgraded to windows 10

No amount of charging would charge the keyboard battery. Once the tablet was at 100%, it would give the status of "not charging" for battery 2.

I tried the following

Kept the device connected overnight on 2 occasions (But bear in mind this was for around 10 hours only) - perhaps 24 hours may do the trick? but could not do this as I did not want to risk keeping a device charged while I was at work. Will try this in the weekend.Turned off the device fully and then charged overnight (This would show the two status indicators for the batteries and did show a charge icon next to the second battery, but no change in battery status)Attempted to remove the dock battery. kept it removed (took out connection to circuitboard) for 30 minutes, then reconnected it to the tablet and power, but no change.Attempted to power the device via low powered u... Ok partially solved the issue via dismantling the device.

I pried open the tablet taking care not to break the ribbons that are connected to either side.
Swapped the batteries over.
Put the tablet on charge (with the fully depleted battery)
it started charging (power adaptor also got warm)
Left it for an hour or so (was then at 55% battery life)
swapped back the batteries

The issue still here is that when the tablet is fully charged 100% and in the keyboard dock. I assume the keyboard dock will then get charged. Unfortunately it is mentioning.. Not charging....

Hi Everybody

Here the problem…

I have a toshiba P55w-C5204

I let the battery discharge one afternoon and the laptop shut down
When I tried to plug it in the next day the dc current led was?t on (it must be on in red light when you connect it, and when charged it must be white light), but the red led of the battery was indicating that I was using battery as it was on.

When the laptop is started no matter the time I led the cable connected the battery says fully charged, but if I disconnect the dc current cable the laptops dies.

I have tried the different procedures posted as, shut down disconnect battery, start ...unistall ACPI driver from device manager, shut down , connect battery; and it doesn?t work.

I also make a partition in the Hard Drive and install a new windows 10 and the problem does not changed.
Help me please I don't want to lose my Toshiba it works great despite of this problem and I can?t but another one.
Could it be the battery or the charge center(motherboard?) ?

I would like to figure out that it was a driver or a bios configuration even a virus haha.

Thank you to all of you.

Hi, I'm experiencing a problem where my battery won't charge and the laptop wont start up without me connecting to the AC adaptor after I update both windows and lenovo. Tried hardware reset but it won't. On the power manager, it said that battery is not installed. I've used this laptop for 1 year already and never experienced any issue until now. ( Help??

Answer:Help! Thinkpad E420s battery percentage stuck at 0% after updating

Have you tried updating the battery firmware?  You do this in ThinkVantage Power Manager, switch to 'Advanced'  and then Battery Frimware Update.

The next step I would try if that doesn't work is to reset your laptop.  There is a small reset hole on the bottom of your E420s.  Gently insert a paperclip to reset.

Instructions are in the user guide here:

The mouse, out of nowhere, starts to go to the right or to the left and there is nothing to do to remove it from the place. Sometimes it stops and others doesn't. This problem prevents us from working. It has nothing to do with the mouse (we tried several) or with docking station because it happens without the docking station.

hey, everyone, ive been looking for similar problems but found none, maybe you guys can help.

i have a toshiba satellite m40 and it has no hard drive. even if it doesnt have a hard drive it should be able to boot and tell me so. my problem is:

1st. the laptop screen works sometimes. meaning the laptop turns on but the screen is off....but other times it turns on fine. now, when the screen doesnt turn on, i found that hitting it makes the screen appear and im not happy about hitting my laptop, im just trying to get it to work.

2nd. when the screen does work, the laptop gets stuck at the motherboard logo screen and does not move from there.....unless..... you hit it.

whats wrong with the dumb thing? anybody help?

oh and like the thing is, it does function, the screen does turn on and the motherboard logo screen does change but u have to really hit it a few times..... other wise it freezes or the screen wont turn on.... ive ran linux off of a live cd on it so i know for a fact im right.

It is time to have the laptop serviced by a qualified technician, or to buy a new laptop. If you are familiar with removing memory or hard drive, you can try reseating them. The video cable from the LCD panel to the motherboard may be pinched or loose

So, the problem started when my dad told me various recharge lights would not come one. Low and behold after opening it up I noticed the Power Pin within the DC housing was not there, in fact it dropped directly into my hand while I was opening it... So after a great deal of experimentation in trying to fix it... I have given up, if I jiggle it for a little while the lights will come on for a second... Please look at diagram for what I believe is accurate~

The connector just behind the housing... is that a ground? my limited knowledge on, on-board circuitry prevents me from repairing this myself.

if you can visually seek the break, then you know where it should connect in order to repair it. You need not know the polarity. But I don't recommend repairing this yourself unless you are good with a soldering iron. Take it to a shop.

Hi,

I've been working on a friends A200-AHC308. It had a few viruses and was currently running XP, so I decided to reformat to XP-SP3. Prior to the reformat I attempted to back up all of his files to a USB flash drive, although the computer had problems recognizing the USB. I figured that the problem may have had something to do with a faulty driver installation so ignored it and continued with the format, having backed up his files on a DVD. After the reformat I am still having the same issue. All drivers are installed properly and nothing in Device Manager is popping up with a question mark. What happens is this: I plug the media in (whether it be an external HDD or a flashdrive) and the computer goes through its device wizard. It does one of two things:
Says the device was installed successfully although when attempting to access it through My Computer the drive does not load (it is present, although when attempting to open it I have no luck).
Says the device is not compatible.

Anyone?

Answer:Toshiba Satellite A200 USB Issue

If you have a second USB flash drive available, plug it into the Toshiba and see if you can read from/write to it.

If you can, it's likely the drive you backed the data up on is either going bad or was corrupted by the virus(es). If this is the case, any attempt at recovering the data should be done with extreme caution. If inserted into and accessed from another PC there is a good chance it will infect it. Go to the virus and malware section of the board for specific scanning and cleaning tips for the drive before you attempt to open or transfer any data from it.

If the second (clean) USB drive doesn't work, reboot the PC with the USB drive removed and try again. If it still fails, go to http://fixitcenter.support.microsoft.com/Portal and download the Beta version of Microsoft's Fix-It Tool. XP SP3 had a few bugs; this tool fixes many of them.

Hope this helps.

My house-mate recently bought a Toshiba Satellite A60 laptop machine. It appears to have a bit of an issue booting correctly.
On 60-75% of boot attempts the result is an error meesage indicating the driver for the onboard ATI display adapater could not start correctly and that the system will restart. On this second reboot the system invariably starts normally.
Any ideas on what could be the issue? Does this machine require a BIOS update?.. or perhaps it is an issue brought on by the patching of the preinstalled XP home with service pack2.

Any ideas gratefully recieved

With my new network now up and running, and all devices talking to each other as they should, I probed about in the (VM supplied) Netgear Superhubs settings and discovered I can change the frequency from 2.4 to 5gz which gets me away from local interference.
My iMac, Ipad iPhone and ATV work perfectly with the setting at 5, but laptop flatly refuses to even see the network. I have a new Draytek wireless router being delivered this week and would like to use the higher setting for all devices without having to go into the admin screen and change back to 2.4 when using the lappy.
Anyone had this issue, or suggest a workaround?

Answer:Toshiba Satellite Pro Wireless Issue

Should have added....Laptop runs Windows 7 64 bit, and the network card is the Atheros with the latest drivers installed.
