Canadian email addresses, lack of technical support

Question: Canadian email addresses, lack of technical support

Does anyone have an email address that will put me in contact with someone in Canada? I spent three hours trying to get help that wasn't through the telephone, telling half a dozen people that I couldn't use the phone to get help. Technical support won't chat with people in Canada and I just jumped through a dozen hoops, only to end up in the same place. If anyone could please offer any kind of advice that would be greatly appreicated. Thank you.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

I have been trying several times over the past few week to get a response from Auslogics using their web based form (the only way I can find of contacting them) and have had no response whatsoever from this. This is concerning a registered version of BoostSpeed. Has anyone found a way of getting a response from them?

been looking around the website for an email and havent really found one, all i found was phone numbers and this forum which neither have worked for me to get help with my Lenovo Y650. I posted on here over a week ago about my problem and no one has answered me and called Lenovo UK yesterday and talked to a guy that put me on hold 2 times and kept me on the line for 30 min and all he suggested was to re install over and over, hold the power key while no power is connected to refresh, then turn off my firewall and antivirus, then blamed that it was a software issue while it ran perfectly on my HP laptop.  so now i want to know a third method so i can hopely be satisfied with the laptop i bought. so anyone know an email to any good technical support person?Thank You.

I am hoping to find some kind of ONLINE communication with Lenovo about warranty work on the IdeaPad.  I do not want to be forced to call.  Unfortunately my experience so far with Lenovo and my first computer purchase from them has not been satisfactory, and now that I am having new issue with the laptop, I am hoping to at least cut out the extreme inconvenience of needing to deal with the issue via phone. Is there an email address or form submission page available for US customers?  I found one for storage and accessories, but cannot find one for computers.

I'm sorry to write this kind of issue here on a public forum, but was forced to and I can see that I'm not alone In a short words ... after a long service repair of my Yoga 710 and a long way of proveing to the seller that the hardware has a defect (fan is blowing straight to the microphone making noise), I've got money refound on 03.04.2017 !Total time that I was without funds and without a laptop lasted from 10.01.2017 to 03.04.2017 (83 days, including Lenovo Service Support - 32 days). I have got only one sorry word from Lenovo nothing more. That's all for my effort to contact them, explain everything, loosing my nerves, all invonvieniences at my bussiness etc. I asked finally what will you do if I want to buy new Lenovo product in the future (maybe small discount for me) but didn't get answer until today...Where should I write an email concerning complaint about Tech Support  ?

Now that i have a gps receiver for my pda..i find it important to correctly enter contact addresses so that i can use "contacts" in my gps software to navigate to my contact's house.

The issue i have, is that while outlook will slot all the appropriate info from a US address; it does not correctly slot the info for my canadian addresses (which 98% of mine are). Most notably, it will not recognize the 6 alpha numeric postal code to slot it into the "zip/postal code" section. neither does it put hte province or city properly.

My global settings are set to Canada (so it will default to Canada as countyr). Is there a patch, plugin for this? It's not a huge problem, but it'd be nice if it could recognize & slot the info appropriately instead than me having to type hte address, then go back & cut & paste city/postal code/ street & manually put them in the right places...

any help appreciated.

ps, is there a way to change the default address from business to home???

So I am sitting here on my MacBook Pro which in my opinion does not have any wireless issues whatsoever, it works. I still own this ThinkPad with a garbage wireless card, and I feasted my eyes on an Intel 7260 but lo and behold, it isn't on the whitelist! Scouring eBay and Amazon I did find a FRU, but would the number of that FRU be the same on the Hardware list? Lets see, well I cannot even find it. All I get are Page Not Found errors which to me is a hilarious joke of Lenovo's support. What does this mean for me? Is my X230 at a very very unnecessary end of life? Should I like, fork out £1400 for an "upgraded" model that probably won't fix most of my problems? My problems is money and saving money. Should i now look elsewhere? No, because I'd rather keep my money to actually FIX my current laptop's problems (the N2200 is a garbage card and would like to replace it with something that's up to date to todays technology but that isn't happening by the sounds of it) I am frustrated with my current laptop's problems and it's having a large effect on my studies. And possibly you can also lose customers by inadequate non-existent support and failure to give us the freedom to actually let us upgrade for those who do. For those who don't, more like.

i currently have a dell Inspiron 5558 laptop for over an year now but the screen stop working over 6 months ago, i looked up the warranty information at the time of screen stopped working and was re-assured that it showed February 18, 2017 therefore i did not consider that it is very urgent to call tech support since i have other laptops. today when i call the support service, i was informed that product was not registered and i have to pay $233 to replace the LCD screen, they still argued that dell warranty website showed the correct information but when i looked it up, the website still displays the same.  did anyone else encounter this issue??

Hi

Mom is here visiting from Canada for 6 months. When she tries to send an email she gets a 550 5.1.1 relaying not allowed here.

Her incoming mail is fine, just can't send.

Changing your password cannot change the kind of e-mails that you receive.

There are two things you can do:

Use whatever tools your e-mail provider may have available to report the e-mail as spam, or you can change your e-mail address.

For example, Comcast has two options that I know of: for people who access their e-mail with a web browser, there's a Spam button. For people like me who use a separate program (I use Outlook 2003), they have a special e-mail address to forward spam to - but it's for Comcast users only.

I like to say I never had a problem before with viruses or spyware. I'm very clear about keep my computer safe but this morning my yahoo email address emailed my contacts with Canadian Pharmacy crap.

Besides changing my email password and clearing my cookies ect, Is there anything that I should scan myself or remove? Never had this problem before.

Question: HP lack of support

I have a x360 it scrashed, worked for hours online with teck and them they said we will send you a box i got it the next bad now i have been over a week for a return shipping lable that i was told would be in the box call after call goes no were, this is the same proble i account with my HP840 that was found to have the wrong parts and hard drive when i sent it to a purervisor and he looked inot, i sent the hp840 back to the factory twicw and it came back worst that when i sent it of, HP has a very bad QC/QP dept that need to have everyone of them ran off. even this new x360 has had problems straight out of the box, its time to close the door on HP as i have given them every change and move on th dell or something elese, I know how a computer works and can or may just build my own with American made parts

about a year ago i bought an HP dv6605us laptop.

i wasnt sold on vista so i un-installed it and put xp on.

found enough drivers to make it function but its not enough now. i need something that'll let me use the video out.

just incase i figured i'd leave the Vista recovery partition still on the computer.

i boot up the pc, hit f11 for system recovery....nothing.

is it not possible to "recover" vista through xp? its probably a stupid question lol.

i know this is the only place i'd find the best answers. thanks guys.

I cannot get any answers from the support or accounts from this compnay. Are they going out of business? Anyone know? I heard the German mother compnay was fed up of funding a loser but do not know if this is still on-going?

Question: Lack of HP Support

I have had so much stress after buying a brand new HP 250 G4 notebook! I've only had it a couple of months but since the start there have been browser and sound issues. Wish I'd got my  money back! I've spent hours on the phone to many HP customer support reps who have tried to fix the issues. I've even had my notebook sent off for repairs. When it was returned to me the sound issues had not been resolved despite the speakers having been replaced. I called HP again who then got me to install new drives. Issue still not fixed. My case has been kept open and I've not heard from any HP rep for a week. I know I'll have to call them! I'm fed-up and wouldn't recomment HP to anyone! Anyone else have any advice on how to get some decent support. My issue has been going on for two months! I'm based in the UK!

I have Kaspersky running on my PC but it let in some malware that required a complete disk reformat and reload of all software. I folowed Kaspersky's advice for thi9s situation but it won't accept the access code. They have ignored 4 emails for help.Anybody with ideas? Maybe I have to cut my losses and use different protection.

Has anyone had problems with the Lenovo Warranty not being honored? I sent my laptop to the Depot (USA) and they kept my laptop for 3 weeks and sent it back without repairing it.  The symptom was the laptop was overheating and shutting off. I have only owned the laptop since January, and the overheating started in April/May, i initially thought it was a 64-bit driver problem.  After sending it to the depot, they claim the following 1 - They claimed something had been spilled on the laptop, voiding the warranty2 - They were going to charge me $950 to repair3 - For my money they would not send back the replaced parts so I could verify what had happened I wanted the parts back so I could  a) see if a spill had occurred b) see if someone at a work site had sabotaged it. They sent my laptop back withyout answering any of my questions.  Starting to wonder if the warranty is worth diddly. Model is 4062-4JU.

if the depot claims spill damage, they are suppose to contact IBM service and give photographic evidences, which you can request to be sent to your email.

I'm curious who has had enough problems with the lack of 64 bit software support that they are considering going with the 32 bit version when Windows 7 is released in the Fall.

Personally, the lack of a Cisco VPN client, some poor software support, and a few driver issues, is really making me reconsider going with 64. Then again, I have not tried out the XP virtualization.

Not me. I've got all the driver support I need to productively use x64. The only shortfall I see, for me, is the last of Flash for 64-bit. For that I just use 32-bit Firefox.

I am returning the Dell described below. Decided to do that on or about Sept.23 and I began applying to Dell for their RMA number. The timing of my ordering and then receiving the Dell was an almost impossible time. I am blessed with the C.O.P.D. disease and a head cold began to make it's presence known---and how it did!! Still have it and you never want the combination of these two "killers" to hit you together. I began to have my anxiety depleted when I could not get in touch with Dell; or rather no contact with any sympathetic soul and in fact, it was pretty much just the opposite. Support in India is strictly for no one. Well, they got my Scotch/Irish anger burning and I didn't give up---it was like not being able to contact anyone at Dell Support. I really and truly felt helpless; it was like no one was home.
Dell kept saying that I had 21 days to return the computer and I had among the several items in the computer box this one page of printed info with Dell logo in several places so I scanned it and sent it attached to one of my many emails to anyone at Dell I could find a name for. Today, I got my answer. Who ever approved it said he(?) was making an exception and gave his approval. Don't really see how an exception was made when the "letter" I scanned and sent to them clearly said 30 days and in which I was well within the boundary. Ever since I got my new pc I have been attempting to contact MS Support in the UK to answer a very simple problem.

I bought Windows Media Center from Arvato GmbH in Germany. Their email address is none functional. When I bought it it fitted into the pc great, then my pc broke.

I have a new pc and nobody seems to want to help. I called the UK support number to be told that the number has changed to a 'less expensive' number - so I dialed that. After the usual robitic responses I actually reached a human being, although speaking a barely distinguishable accent. I told her the full history. 'Now let me get this straight, you have Windows 8.1'? 'Yes' I said 'but the problem is Media Center product key not working in Add Features in 8.1 - I have paid for a product that I cannot download.'

After several attempts to call them back, I got a phone ringing somewhere, and ringing, and ringing - you get the picture? Then another robot told me there is an error *click*

After another few attempts I gave up.

If Apple Macs were not so damn expensive I would stick MS where the sun does not shine.

Edit: Wow! finally got to 'speak' to MS via social media software. Gave them the details, we shall see ........

I purchased windows 8 pro and media center retail product keys when 8 first came out..
I recently re-used both key numbers to install on a NEW computer. this is allowed with retail keys, but it is limited in time frame.. You can not do this with oem keys... First disconnect from your internet connection, input the key, activate via phone.. had to do it for the pro key and then again for media center

Can anyone tell me how to get Kaspersky to react and give support. I reported a problem 2 months ago, Kaspersky have taken on average 7 days to respond to each e-mail when they ask me to carry out various test. I am now no further forward and KIS is letting Malware in. Has anyone found a clever way to put the proverbial boot in? It is sad that their support is so slow when they get such an accolade for their IS package from PC Advisor.

In May of 2011, I purchased a ThinkPad for my son to take to college.  With it, we paid extra for a warranty that we thought would ensure that he would be taken care of, if any problems with the computer came up.  In November, the computer ceased working and after three weeks of calling and waiting (and much frustration), a technician finally came out and made a repair.  Unfortunately, after one day, the computer once again ceased to work.  This time, it was not even possible to run the diagnostics because the computer would not even boot up.  Again, I placed a phone call to the customer support number, hoping to have a resolution before finals started.  A case number was assigned and I was given the name of the "Escalation Specialist" who I was told would be calling me in 24-48 hours. While I tried to be patient, there was no call and so after almost a week, I tried calling the Escalation Specialist.  Instead of reaching him, I was greeted with a message that his voice mailbox was full, so I could not leave a message.  The recording said that I could be transferred to an operator if I pressed the # sign, but when I did that, I was told that this was not an option available to me.  When I called customer support/service back to let them know this, I was told that I should stop calling because each time I called, I was being moved down in the list of people to receive return calls.   Wow!  is this what customer service has... So with the new round of games coming out I decided it was time to add another Radeon HD 5770 to my system so I could rock some massively overclocked dual GPU goodness.


Well think again! After screwing with this system for about four weeks I have determined that CrossfireX is bogus and I should have just attempted to sell my original 5770 and buy a better single card.



I'm currently on a clean (SUPER CLEAN) install of amd_catalyst_11.5b_hotfix_8.85.6rc5_win7_may25 drivers and using the latest amd_catalyst_11.5_cap3_may26_110525 application profiles. Windows 7 Ultimate x64, everything up to date. MSI Afterburner used for overclocking profiles.. etc.




The new games I was wanting to max for their splendid eye candy:


Crysis 2 - will run in Crossfire mode with little scaling evident, although if any AA is enabled there are all kinds of screwy visual defects going on. So in the end it runs better with Crossfire disabled and graphic options set to medium.


Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed - This game will run fine with Crossfire enabled, however only GPU #2 is being used, so 0% scaling. Upon further investigation the use of both GPUs was disabled via ATI's application profiles shortly after the game was released due to major problems with it.


Total War Shogun 2 - Now this game is one that is supposed to scale well when running in Crossfire mode. WRONG, because upon launch the entire system will freeze as soon as the intro movie starts... Read more

I bought a PC from Watford Electronics last July, and emailed them to ask about a problem with Windows XP. No reply, so I emailed Microsoft in the USA and they replied: ?Thank you for contacting Microsoft Customer Service. If you are using Windows XP and it was purchased outside of North America, your best resource for assistance is the Microsoft subsidiary in United Kingdom. There are significant programming differences between North American and localized versions of software. You will be best assisted by the subsidiary that specializes in your specific version.?So I emailed Microsoft UK, and their response was that because the software is OEM (original equipment manufacturer) then support is provided by the manufacturer.Two more emails to Watford Electronics, with no response. I have just found the email address for the managing director, Shiraz Jessa, so will try him.

Right after i installed the 64 bit version, i assumed that chrome already had such a version released, but after a closer inspection i realised it was still a 32 bit one. After looking further into the matter i found out Google only released it for Linux users, which is beyong my reasoning.

After that, i tried firefox, which apparently had a 64 bit version available, yet it asked for no apparent reason for me to give my administrator name and pass, which were incorrect according to the installer, and it exited. It eventually crossed my mind to right click and select 'run as admin' and it worked fine.

Also, i have noticed the built in IE browser is 32 bit aswell, which seems odd.

On top of all those, is the information that adobe flash player does not support 64 bit browsers true? EDIT: i tried using the 64 bit version of firefox to browse youtube, but it keeps saying i need an additional plugin, i install the adobe plugin, yet it keeps giving me the same error, which to my mind means adobe does not support 64 bit yet?

Hey Lenovo team, The P50 website for Lenovo India ( http://shopap.lenovo.com/in/en/laptops/thinkpad/p-series/p50/ ) does not have a configurator & online purchase platform unlike the US website ( http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/thinkpad/p-series/p50/ ). I emailed TheDoStore support ([email protected]), requesting information on the configuration options available in India and got the following response: "... unfortunately we don't have an expert who would be able to respond to you. We would like you to please call 1800 3000 9991 where an expert will be handle your query and give you the best possible advice.  ..."  - Not the most encouraging of emails. And the 'expert' team at 1800 3000 9991 was not very competant. They could confirm only the configuration that was available in stock and could not even confirm if other options (see below) were either out-of-stock or not-launched/not-available in India. Could somebody help me out with the following?Processor: Are the i7-6820HQ & Xeon E3-1505M options available?Display: Is the 4k IPS non-touch available?Storage options?And what are the buying options for the P50?Is 1800 3000 9991 really the only option? Or are there other resellers? Is it expected to be listed elsewhere online, where I can see and verify the configuration, rather than just trust an 'expert' over a phone call?

A friend will be moving to Mexico but was looking at buying G550 MFG#: 2958A4U laptop in Canada but needs to make sure that it is serviceable in Mexico. I phoned Lenovo web sales but they could not help since that p/n is not sold on the website. Is this model serviceable in Mexico and if so is it only by mail within Mexico ie no on site service??

well just been in touch with support to find out if a new bios is coming out to support graphics cards that most people have. (HD5450 nothign over powerful) Sorry not suported in any way, only 3 crappy cards are supported officially. Basically told to sling hook Remind me not to buy IBM again from the total lack of support or updates.PCI-E standard - not if your IBM

This might amuse you:Dear Technical Support, 18 months ago, I upgraded to Girlfriend 1.0 from Drinking Mates 4.2, which I had used for years without any trouble. However, there are apparently conflicts between these two products, and the only solution was to try and run Girlfriend 1.0 with the sound turned off. To make matters worse, Girlfriend 1.0 is incompatible with several other applications, such as Lads Night Out 3.1, Football 3pm, and Playboy 6.9. Successive versions of Girlfriend proved no better. A shareware program, Party Girl 2.1, which I tried, had many bugs and left a virus in my system, forcing me to shut down completely for several weeks. Eventually, I tried to run Girlfriend 1.2 and Girlfriend 1.0 at the same time, only to discover that when these two systems detected each other, they caused severe damage to my hardware. I then upgraded to Fiancée 1.0, only to discover that this product soon had to be upgraded further to Wife 1.0. While Wife 1.0 tends to use up all my available resources, it does come bundled with FreeSex Plus and Cleanhouse 2003. Shortly after this upgrade, however, I found that Wife 1.0 can be very unstable and costly to run. Any mistakes I made were automatically stored in Wife 1.0's memory and could not be deleted. Lately I have been badgered with high pressure sales tactics from several companies who provide technical support most notably Iyogi and PcWizard. Using the Event Viewer, they found (I embarrassed to say) over 37,000 warnings, errors and informative messages which have accumulated over the past three to four years. Each has told me that I am risking everything on my computer unless this problem is dealt with immediately even though I do a complete backup twice a week. Needless to say, I told each of them I wanted to do some research about their respective companies before making a decision. This was the only way to get them off the phone. I have no idea how they got hold of my telephone number in the first place and each was reluctant to tell me. Actually, I would like to learn how to effectively manage this situation myself. This leads me to two questions. Firstly, would it be worth my while to have a strange company I have never heard of take over control of my computer? Secondly, how and where would I go about learning how to manage this situation myself? I am writing this post in response to case number 30V2QV4. Lenovo's technical support is DREADFUL! It is like a comedy of errors, wave upon wave of incompetent technicians try and fix one thing only to break another and not even fix the first thing. I have had nothing but problems on this machine and the latest fiasco was the fingerprint sensor and screen not working (not responding to pen input) I returned the unit and when I got it back NOTHING had changed. The screen and fingerprint sensor STILL DIDNT WORK. This is the SECOND TIME this has happened. I am beginning to feel like they are complete idiots at the repair centre because nobody so much as tested the unit after they supposedly fixed it. All you have to do is turn it on and point the stylus at the screen and see if the cursor is moving. Is that too hard?!?!? Furthermore, the software that uses the fingerprint sensor acts like there is no such hardware installed so obviously nobody in the repair centre tested that either. Completely useless! Lenovo, if you're reading this, I expect an explanation. Somebody needs to do something about this unit as it has caused me nothing but grief and the service technicians incometence is completely unacceptable!

Today I have received a phone call from a Technical Support Service, which claims my Computer system has been flagged up as having some serious errors on my computer. They asked my some questions regarding what I used the internet for and how many devices are used in the house. They then gave me instructions to use RUN command and open eventviewer,under Administrative events they asked me what I could see.. and it was aload of errors and warnings.. they then told me that the internet has downloaded these files on my computer with out me knowing and they can cause problems with the system. ( Fortunate that I have had some issues with my explorer BUT found that it was a recent Windows update that had conflicted a file in explorer so I unistalled it and re-installed explorer..Problem gone ). So she then told me I was going to speak to a technician that wanted me to go to this website Link Removed By Moderator which I did but I then realized they wanted what looked like re-mote access to my computer. Have a problem with my NTL BB service.Over the last 4 or 5 days I have had to reset my Set top box to be able to log on to NTL BB.So, I thought I would ring them and get my connection changed from the set top box to a modem. I have been upgraded to the 2mb service but because my set top is a Pace it cannot cope with 2mb and is restricted to 1mb. To get the 2mb I have to have the set top changed for one which will accept 2mb. Having gone through all the option selections I now get a message:"the office is now closed" and even worse because it is a Bank Holiday I will have to wait until Tuesday to be able to get assistance. My battery is taking over five hours to charge up, and the charge doesn't  last.  I have a problem. I have just spent a terribly frustrating hour, trying to find out how to get technical support for this computer.  First off, I cannot find a telephone number on the Lenovo site. Well, O.K.  I tried to get on-line technical support.  It says I need to have a 7 digit model number.  Well, I don't seem to have a 7 digit model number.  I have an S10-3t computer that has a four digit model name, a serial number, and a 10 digit "MO" number, whatever this is. Can somebody please tell me how to contact a Lenovo human being to find out how to resolve my problem?

Maybe you should have checked all your hardware to see if it was supported by XP. Not everything is and most manufacturers have not written drivers for it yet. Find a generic driver for an NEC printer similar to yours in XP's native drivers and use that. They offered a workaround if they found one so what are you complaining about....do a little research!

I have a household with Two Dell desktops and Three laptops the oldest laptop being a 37 month old N5110.  Kids in school you know the drill.  Of course the oldest is mine, the purchaser, the N5110, After reading about Dell not supporting this product for Windows 10 software update. I pulled my old Sony from the retired computer pile in my home office, and with a few auto updates I got a reservation for Windows 10,  So this past week I decided that if Dell drops the N5110 upgrade path I'm dropping Dell from my approved vendor list, Designating Dell to be just another Apple, stranding its customers by not providing a migration path.  The reasoning behind the Intel / Microsoft PC compared to alternatives in the 80;s was the future upgrades.  I have the Intel CPU & MS O/S but I guess I screwed up by purchasing Dells.
Oh I even tried the BIOS fix,  I already have that version installed.  I guess I just wait to see what Dell does after reading N5110 post I'm afraid that I'll have to select another Vendor, I did it to Apple in the 80's, But I'll stay with Windows and find another preferred hardware vendor if they strand this laptop with no future.  I think it is funny that someone defined the laptop lifecycle at three years at dell. Plus I use Dells in the office.

I have a similar problem.  The only laptop i have is N5110 Inspiron. It was one of the best configurations of that time. 
I am very much unhappy about the BIOS compatibility issue which stops me upgrading to windows 10. 
I blame both Microsoft and Dell for this. Now its like none of them wants to take up the responsibility to provide a fix. If this has to be the trend in future it will become a norm to washout devices after every 3 years. Which is not value for money. 
I hope dell comes up with a upgrade to BIOS or they reachout to Microsoft to fix the issue and upgrade on what ever is existing. I know its not a joke  cause every hour spent writing that code for a 1 person would cost too much of money.But again its  their duty.

Can anybody from developers tell me if there will be a future update for Lenovo Thinkpad edge 14 so it can boot from esata drive ?  I'm using bios v. 1.29 which seemsto lack esata boot support. I also tried boot from esata using both grub and grub2 (installed on my primary drive)but those cannot see esata drive. Any suggestions / ideas ?

I'm trying to open a port so I can set up my FTP. I've tried port forwarding, port triggering, etc. and no one can ping me. I set up the port as 21 and, using the router's IP address, which isn't my dynamic IP address from the ISP, I'm so firewalled I can't get out.

I did go to whatismyip.com and got a number, which I pinged and got results on all four packets. When I run IPWatch, I get the router's 192.168._._ number.

BTW....this is a Dell 2350 Broadband Router -- brand new.

The wonderful thing is that Dell Support WON'T support Advanced settings -- they DON'T KNOW HOW! However, for $40, they will trnasfer me to a technician who can help me. Figure that one out. For a $70 router, I can't even get support to set it up. I'm dealing with tech support in India, so have the language problem and don't feel I should have to pay for something that the salesman assured me I could do (which was to be able to set up an FTP).

Presently I'm working on a Dell Dimension 2400 desktop with an Inspiron 8600 laptop and okay there re file sharing, etc.

I know I can't ping myself and even called my ISP provider who tried to see if he could see (ping) any or all of the ports. I'm freakin' stuck and MADD AS HELLLLLLLL at DELL!

You don't need to worry about quoting the "192.168._._ number" - everyone on the planet using NAT uses that (well nearly everyone!). It's the public dynamic IP address you may want to withhold from the rest of us!

For port-forwarding you need to set-up in the router port-forwarding to the LAN IP address of the PC on which your Titan server is operating NOT the IP address of the router. Your external user tries to FTP to your public IP address, that hits the router and the router forwards as per its config to the device on your LAN running your server: that way the external user gets through the firewall without knowing the internals of your LAN. If you have a dynamic public IP address that's obviously going to change from time to time (it does what its says on the box! - it's dynamic) which can make access for external users difficult -- so you may want to look into a Dynamic DNS service (such as offered free at www.dyndns.org or www.no-ip.com) where you can get a domain name and your external users use that rather than an IP address and the DynDNS service keeps the domain name in line with the changing public IP address.

On the ping question: it may be that the router is configured to not respond to pings from the internet - some/many routers have this facility (for security reasons) and it is often the default but I do not know the model in question. If you have the possibility in the management GUI too enebale/disable ping you can switch on... Read more

I still have every warranty except POW but i cant seem to contact support. When i go and click contact technical support it states:

It only will reduce the life once it reaches full capacity then discharges a little, then recharges again (and this keeps repeating). I would recommend removing the battery after it is fully charged (if it is possible on your laptop). No wait. It depends on the manufacturer. I don't know about Lenovo, but some will use the method I said above, but some will just stop charging the battery, and treat it like it is not there, so basically, it is running off of a power outlet only.

I have a problem installing an update for Office 2003 on Windows 10 Professional RTM. Yes I know that Office 2003 is no longer supported. Since Windows 10 saw the update KB90741, it would install it. Windows update returned this error message: Error: 0x80096004.

I used the contact Support App in Windows 10. The attached pictures says the rest. Isn't Microsoft Technical Support Great?

I've been dealing with technical support for 4 or 5 months now on and off trying to get an issue resolved with an external display disconnecting from my laptop at random. They've had me wipe my computer and re-install windows, and they've even sent a technician out to my place of business to replace my logic board. I would like to exchange this system under my warranty, but the technical support people claim "The warranty of the system doesn't cover system exchange."
I'm assuming I have  a "Consumer In-Home Hardware Service After Remote Diagnosis" service plan. Both paragraph 12 and paragraph 14 have provisions pursuant to which Dell may exchange this system.

Unless you recorded it, there is no way to obtain the MAC ID from Dell -- no record is kept of the MAC ID by Dell.

We'll soon be retiring and doing a good bit of traveling w/ a recreation vehicle. I'm shopping for a laptop that we can use to search the web, make RV park reservations, handle on-line banking, use GPS software etc. Because I think wireless N (802.11n) technology will useful, I'm considering a Toshiba laptop. We have a 2002 Dell PC which worked great once we resolved one initial sound card problem. In 2002 Dells technical support was provided from India, which was a real pain. It wasn't clear on Dell's web page whether they offer wireless N.

Does Dell offer wireless N technology in their laptops and (if so) how does Dell and Toshiba techical support currently compare relative to nationality of support personnel, amount of time on hold on the phone, resolution of problems, etc.?

If you have other recommendations on brands that also offer wireless N, I would also like these. Thank you.

one thing to consider, though you want n, most wifi locations will only be b or g Your speed will drop to g. So imo, at this time, stick with g because thats all you will need.

as far as support, its all based on individual experience. some have good and some have bad experiences with both dell and toshiba. personally I just shoot for the best computer I could find for my needs and hopefully never need computer support and so far I have been lucky.

I have a Packard Bell C3255 notebook that has had a new HDD. I gone into the tattooing process but have come to a stop at the screen asking for the 'technical support code' I know this resides within the DMI but don't know how to access it.
I have had the usual lack of information and help from the PB website and trawled the net but still stuck.

Would someone please explain to me why I can't sem to get any technical support on what should be a simple question for so-called "Technical Support" people. I've noticed that every other question seems to be gettin replies EXCEPT mine.

Is this such a stupid question that NO ONE wants to give me an answer. I thought this was supposed to be a place where a person can get a FREE answer to technical support questions???

Please help me figure out why my computer freezes up everytime I try and play my audio files. Is that such a hard question???

Dell has a problem with some Dell Vostro 200 pc's which involves a black screen just after boot. The advised solution from Dell is to set prefetch to only boot rather than boot and applications. Empty the prefetch folder and in effect not use prefetch as it was designed for Windows XP, Is this a legitimate solution for customers experiencing this problem? I always thought prefetch was supposed to "speed things up". Any suggestions about this? Is Dell just blowing the customers off?

Hi , i have some serious virus in my computer
Firstly, i installed a program called bigdog.exe (foolish of me)
After virus after new virus came in to my laptop

I tried using ur malware remove guide.

How ever i can't even run the Malwarebytes software as it give a run time error and the vbAccelerator SGRID 2 control problem

FOr the superanti-spyware software, i can't even download the latest virus definition. My internet Microsoft's automatic updates downloads are stopped.

But i do have internet connections still.

I used spybot and adware, it provides no solutions. The virus keep recurring.

Now i just post the HT log. Tell me what u need to solve my problem.

I tried Windows 10 but first, I could not download my CD music to my MP3 player. Next I tried it with my Photoshop Elements and Photoshop CS5. It warned me not all components are supported.

As a photographer, I rely on Photoshop. Windows really messed up with this so called "up grade" You can put lipstick on a pig, but it is still a pig!

I have always been against Apple but this is the best Microsoft can do I am changing. There is no customer support live, just links to self help. My guess is unless they make some very quick changes, their customer base will drop considerably. Sell your Microsoft stocks!

Upon looking over Windows 8 a few years back and finding WMPlayer was gone from the Home version while I would likely if then going for 8(ha ha ha ha hardy har har no way hose') would have had to download WMP 13 separately as I have always set WMP since it was first seen only as a separate download until Vista came along as the default player. 8 Pro and later however have the newer versions plus 10 now sees a Windows DVD Player if you look more closely at the Start>All Apps!

The Pro editions of 8, 8.1, and now 10 have WMP as well as 10 now seeing a separate dvd player since WMP no longer supportd dvd or video playback with MS saying there are already too many media players?! So this is what you get like it or not!

I've been using ESET Smart Security (with NOD32 antivirus) for a while now and it works fine. 3 days ago, I had to ask a technical question to ESET's support, which I did. 3 days have past and still no answer. I have sent them another email and still nothing. What gives? Is their customer care always that long? I really thought ESET would give excellent service. What can be the reason? McAfee offered direct fast online support which ESET doesn't. Kaspersky also offers it. I think it's a great flaw on ESET's part not to have online support. Did anyone experience the same problem with ESET's technical support?

Purchased the new X301 on Sept 8th.  It arrived sometime during the week of Sept 20th.  On Oct 8th less than 3 weeks of use the unit "died". BSOD with "Bad_system_config_info" error.  After 48 hours(?) of working with Lenovo tech support , they determined that the motherboard should be replaced.  Not being happy with the quality I asked to return the unit for a full refund, at which point I was presented with the 21 day warranty that starts from the invoice date and is void if you open the box! Since they do not ship out MB, the unit had to go back to their Memphis repair center. Received the unit back today (Oct 21st) with the same exact issue, BSOD "Bad_system_config_info". Called the tech support and they said I need to send it back! Forgot to mention that this unit is for my CEO.  Being a bit frustrated to say the least, I asked for a full refund.  So far I have been pushed (escalated) twice, and the next level up won't even call back today (they said 48 hours). It is still not clear if we can get our money back or if we end up sending the unit in it will actually be fixed.

Sorry to hear that this has been your experience so far. 
 
Ideally, (and in most cases) everything works and there aren't any troubles.   If there is a problem, we would ask the customer to call technical support (which you did).   Support should do their best to solve the issue over the phone as that is best for all of us, and if there is a hardware fault, support should arrange for service according to the terms of the warranty - depot, onsite, or through a local business partner.  Support should provide a case number.
 
If the customer is within 21 days, and the system requires service, and it's not something simple like a battery or AC adapter, removable DVD drive, mouse, ect, and the customer does not want service, and has called support and has a valid case number, they can call sales back and arrange a return.
 
As it stands, I believe sales will authorize the return for refund and waive the restocking fee, or can arrange to ship a replacement (charge for it) and credit back when the original unit is returned.
 
I'm sorry that you've had to escalate this case in order to get the service you need.   Let's let the process work, but your business is important, so if you haven't gotten the help you need, please send me a private message with your contact information and the original order number and your service case number and I'll help you get this resolved.

The last three Windows 10 updates left my desktop without sound output from speakers or headphones. Each time I ended up contacting Microsoft Windows Technical Support who took remote control of my computer and sorted the problem out via a series of entries in Control Panel. The Fall Creator Update that I've just installed has done it again - this time the sound troubleshooter tells me I haven't got speakers/headphones plugged in, although I've done multiple reboots, and unplugged and replugged both speakers and headphones. What's worse, I can't find any way to get onto Microsoft technical support to do their usual fix via remote control.

Does anyone know where that facility has moved to? I've found some links to Quick Access but nothing about how I get Microsoft to appear at the other end. Thanks...

Does anyone have an alternate number to elevated customer service with Lenovo Support?  My laptop has been stuck at the depot since 14 February over a USB 3.0/Bluetooth issue mentioned in a prior thread that manifests itself when a USB 3.0 hub is plugged in and the laptop started.  I attached a detailed description of the problem and how to duplicate when I sent it in yet it was ignored as they put it on hold pending information from me.  For a few days my status was stuck on (On Hold).  I kept calling and since they wouldn't let me talk directly to the tech I kept trying to relay information through phone agents who don't take notes properly or understand computer troubleshooting.  On 17 Feb it was mysteriously elevated to "Engineering" and another "On Hold" status placed.  Ever since then the only thing I was told was that some "special equipment" was being ordered for testing.  No other detail than that and no update on whether they duplicated the problem or not, or what they even think the problem might be.  The equipment was due to arrive today but I couldn't get an update over the phone so it probably isn't there.  I would like to know at least what they've tried so far or whether changing out hardware would've been faster.  When I sent it in I was told it would take 7 - 10 days max.  It is probably sitting on someone's desk doing nothing, or they broke something else.  I'm active duty military and just deploye... Mikeynavy1, there have been problems booting the W510 with items plugged into a USB 3.0 port, one widespread problem being the machine not booting at all (see here, for example). The specific problem you're seeing may very well be present in all W510 units, but you may be the only person who has noticed it and also called Lenovo about it (i.e., most other people may have simply given up and settled for just avoiding the situation causing the problem, as many have done with the above USB 3.0 boot issue).So, being an engineer myself, I can understand why the engineers want to test your machine, although they may be able to instead replicate the problem themselves in the lab with their own machines instead of yours. Thorough testing seems to have been a problem Lenovo has had with the W510, in general.Anyway, if you want to escalate your case within Lenovo, here's how to do so. Alternately, you can PM Mark_Lenovo in this forum, who's the Lenovo employee in charge of these forums, and he's pretty good about getting to the bottom of support issues (this would be my first choice in your situation). I can see how this is a major inconvenience for you.Personally, if I were in your shoes, I would do everything possible to just get the machine back. Then I would leave a USB 3.0 cable always plugged into the USB 3.0 port on the W510 (except while you're carrying it in a laptop bag, of course). I wanted to buy a W500 with a XP-downgrade (from Vista business 32), and wondered about getting full windows installation disks. Rang Lenovo and they said just to phone after receiving thinkpad, and we will send you both sets of disk out to you (no mention of any charge).W500 arrived, and came with Vista Business installed. No other disks. So rang and asked for 2 sets of installation disks. Lenovo said, fine, but will cost you $86 or so each. Then asked on how to install present Vista OS on new HD - told to use restore function to create set of CD's. 7 in all (took 13). Removed hard drive that came with the system and replaced it with SSD, after being formatted and checked - ran perfectly as external drive. Within the W500, it was not recognized. The dreaded Error 2100.Visited Lenovo web site and read some info on problems W500 etc having with some new drives. Couldn't get it to work, nevertheless.So phoned Lenovo Technical Support and was asked "where did you buy the drive"? I said "Australia". Was told "we do not support third-party hardware". That support would only discuss hardware bought that came with the system or bought directly from Lenovo. Hi allHas anyone else fallen fowl of the incompetent Steam technical support ? I have been asking for over 2 weeks snd submitted the Jpeg showing the serial number and Ticket number twice and still not had a resolution to a simple request for a change of email address and password reset - I will never buy a steam / Valve associated game again and wondered if there were any other PC gamers who have had similar or even the same problems with Steam accounts ? It has come to emailling Sega and Creative Assembly, who are yet to respond, regarding the problems I have had - this may get nowhere and Sega / CA may just say.......so ? but if this helps to stop someone else the frustration and delay I have experienced it will have been worth it. Hi ~  I have a case number for battery replacement for my daughter's laptop.   We have been waiting for a couple of weeks for it to arrive.  I have tried to call to get the status or a tracking number and am unable to get through now because our warranty expired Jan 1 (but the problem was assigned the case number and resolution before the warranty expired).   I cannot get through on the phone because I do not have a valid in-warranty s/n anymore.  I cannot get through on the chat because I do not have a valid in-warranty s/n anymore.   Even though I have a current and valid case number.   I tried an email that I  had for them and it is no longer in use.   Ugh.  Any suggestions to get through to Acer and see where the battery is??? Thank you for reading and for your help!Denise

Dear StaffI have a technical problem that I can't find a solution in the forum. Therefore, I am sending you this feedback as well as require your assistance to troubleshoot this problem.Recently, I installed Windows Service Pack 1 for Windows Vista, and my built in speaker was not working. So like the last time this happened, I right-clicked on "my computer", click "manage". Click on the "device manager" tab, clicked on the "sound, video and game controllers". My previous sound card or some sort is there however, the speaker is not working. So I right clicked on it and clicked update software. Now it is updated and it changed into Coxenant High Definition SmartAudio HD2. Now the speaker is working fine. However, the built microphone is not working, and same goes with the microphone that is plugged to my computer. I have searched with the "help and support" on my computer, search through the net and the forums of Microsoft Technet, and I still can't find a soultion. So please tell me how to resolve this problem.I am running on Windows Vista Home Basic, and my soundcard or some sort is Coxenant.ThankyouTedpad

Three different tech support personnel helped me upgrade from Win 7 to WIN 10 on my 1 week old Inspiron 3650.  I paid for the following from the parts list "

619-AHTY

Windows 7 Pro English 64bit (Includes Windows 10 Pro License)"


Not one tech mentioned going from Win 7 to 10 would wipe my drive.  So I found out at the cliff, where there was no turning back.

I ask for $150 refund, they say "We politely refuse", and I never get out of talking to india.
