Lenovo Ideapad 710S. Lenovo refuse to fix white spot despite laptop being under warranty

Question: Lenovo Ideapad 710S. Lenovo refuse to fix white spot despite laptop being under warranty

I am totally disappointed in Lenovo's customer support. My lenovo 710s was bought less than 1 year ago (as of 10/6/2017, when I sent it in for repairs) and had 2 years warranty (1+1 year of extended warranty). I sent my laptop for repair due to a white spot issue on the monitor, affecting viewing of webpages and videos. However, the laptop was returned after 3 weeks without any fixes/repairs, as Lenovo claimed that it was a cosmetic issue. I wrote a message on their customer care website on 3/7/2017. However, they ignored me and there was no reply to date. I thought Lenovo is a reliable and popular brand. However, it turned out to be a horrible decision, much to my dismay!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, I have recently joined the Lenovo family with the purchase of the Lenovo Ideapad 710s.  Unfortunately, I have recently noticed bright spot on the screen and I read that it is similar to the dead pixel.  I brought it to the customer service and they told me that they do not cover defective pixels under the warranty. However, I recently found a Lenovo web page that claims it's coverage under warranty. https://support.lenovo.com/id/en/documents/ht004254 Does anyone know if it is actually covered or not?  Because I don't want to waste another trip to the service centre as it is so far away from my apartment.

Okay so I've had this computer less than 3 months and it's given me nothing but problems. Now it refuses to even turn on. The power LED turns on but the screen remains blank. This is an non removal battery type before anyone says remove the battery and use the adapter. I've drained the battery which has worked before but this time when I try to charge it the orange battery LED blinks three times. And still nothing on the screen. Any Lenovo stores are quite far away. Anyone knows what's going on?

Other than online retailers, where can I buy the Lenovo 710s in person in the US? I want to take a look at the laptop and see feel it before I buy it. I live in small town so there's that.

Hi  I am thinking of purchasing a 13" Lenovo ideapad 710s ($1199 model) over a MacBook air. I have been using a macbook air for several years and recently thought of getting a new laptop. Lenovo's 710s seems to be quite good on paper (except the battery life), but I couldnt find any reviews online which can tell me if the laptop is as good as Lenovo projects it to be. If anyone has bought/used Lenovo 710s, can  you guys chime in and let me know if this laptop came on par with your expectations (esp. the battery life)? Thanks

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad 710s question

hi. Here I leave you computer manual so you can compare, the battery is a consumable device that usually lasts depending on the use that will give the team being new can last an average of 3 hours, you should know that each load you do it is that you take away useful life. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Z-Base-de-conocimientos/Optimizando-el-tiempo-de-duraci%C3%B3n-de-la-ba... Manual service:https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_710S-13ISK_hmm_201603.pdf Regards.

I just bought Lenovo Ideapad 710s last week, 5th June 2016 to be exact.I noticed that after I shut down the laptop, eventhough the screen is off, the USB-wired mouse is still lited. There's no light on the keyboards, nor the power signal light. What could be the problem here?

Dear Lenovo Community, I've just bought my Lenovo Ideapad 710S two days ago. Bought the highest-end configuration with 16GB RAM + 512GB PCIE SSD. I got to say I'm absolutely in love with the form factor and its performance. I decided upon this laptop mainly because of its portability and the combination of 16GB RAM + 512GB SSD at less than $2k. DesignAt 1.1kg, it is really light - I can hold in up effortlessly with one arm. At home, I use a Dell monitor (U2715H) which is almost borderless; looking at 710S's edge, it is equally slim and is key to making it look stylish. The matte screen display has very crisp, clear text and is very comfortable to look at. PerformancePerformance wise, there is no complain. It lives up to what it's spec-ed on paper. Every application and operation (e.g. startup, shutdown, boot from sleep) loads at breakneck speeds thanks to its PCIE SSD. I've yet to try running more intensive software e.g. the Adobe suite but at this rate, it looks promising thus far. AccuType KeyboardAt first, I thought the flat keys have really little travel to bottom-out but as I spend more time typing on it, I gradually grew to like the keyboard. It's well spaced-out, typing on it can be very accurate. Key travel is reasonable for faster typists. Only thing is the placement of backspace, enter and shift button at the right side needs some extra time to get used to it as I find they placed more to the right than it is on comm... Read more

Hello!
Y50-70 laptop, SN ########, it is still on the warranty then checking the lenovo.com website.
The problem with the screen, pink shades and overlay of images.

But my question is about the warranty service.
I've brought the laptop to the nearest authorised warranty service center in Odessa, Ukraine. Firstly, they accepted a warranty issue and took the laptop. But the next day they called and asked to bring them papers (receipt or warranty card). Unfortunately, as I had bought it in different country and I moved few times since the day of purcase, I can't find these papers. So, the service center returned the laptop and refused to carry a warranty repair, despite the fact it still has an international warranty (it is going to expire in 5 days, btw).

What can I do? Is it a normal practice everywhere, or only in Ukraine? Honestly, I become really dissappointed with Lenovo products and service...

Answer:Lenovo Y50-70, pink shade screen and refuse with warranty service

Contact the place where you bought it if they can provide the purchase confirmation. How was it registered for warranty then without a receipt? If no receipt it defaults to the build date of the notebook. You will have to talk to a customer service manager or service manager. But if they insist on the receipt that you never provided in the first place then it becomes your problem I'd say. The build date is used and if that has passed you likely out of luck.Lenovo is very tough and will take any opportunity to void the warranty.

The problem is that the laptop's fan is making loud noises and it is heating up real fast even though I don't play games or use softwares that might pressure the laptop. Basiscally, I use it for microsoft office and internet surfing. Did anyone have the same problem? How could I solve this issue? Any help will be appreciated.

Hi, since I got my Ideapad 710s everything has been running smoothly, however, in the last month or so whenever I load something the mouse cursor disapears. If I go into settings and set the mouse pointer again it will appear as normal when something is loading, but within five minutes will go back to disappearing.  Another problem that started slighlty before that was that the night light (blue light filter) setting refused to turn off between 9pm and 6am, even when it said it was turned off. Now it is turned off, but won't turn on.  In general there has been lots of little settings malfunctions just like this, which while not laptop breaking, are increasingly annoying.  Any suggestions?

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad 710s cursor disappearing and other malfunctions

Hi there, Frevans                       -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Just to verify, did you encounter this issue the first time you setup the PC or you just encountered this lately?

If it's just lately, can you try one of the following?

Disable "hide pointer while typing" under Control Panel (large icon view) > Mouse > Pointer Options Tab and enable "Show location of pointer when i press CTRL key"
  - Link to picture

Uninstall the Touchpad Driver (ELAN or Synaptics) under Control Panel > Programs and reboot. Upon logging back in, Windows will use a generic touchpad driver. Try to observe the mouse pointer behavior and observe (you can always re-install the touchpad driver by navigating to D:\Drivers\Touchpad or by downloading the driver from the lenovo website).

Boot in Safe Mode with Networkingand observe the mouse pointer behavior. If all goes well, perform a clean boot and observe. If same problem, perform a System Restorein safe mode to undo any possible updates that was installed on the system (ensure that you make a backup copy of your files).

Update us how it goes.

hi,i need help please, i have this lappy 1year old purchased from gulf and now i'm facing problem there is a white spot appearing on the center of the screen,i can't if its a dead pixel since its appearing after sometime when i restart....

Answer:lenovo g50-70 weird white spot on screen

From what you have described it sound like you have a stuck pixel.  I am assuming the spot is not large, but a tiny dot.  To rule out a graphics driver problem try booting the computer into Windows Safe mode and observe.  If the problem appears there as well then it is definitely related to the pixel.

Since the problem is appearing sometime after restarting, try one of those screen exercise videos available on YouTube.  A continuous screen exercise might unstick the problem.  Here is a Google search of some of the available videos.......

Today, I updated my Realtek Audio Driver to version 6.0.1.7831 (dated 7/21/2016). After installation, I immediately realized that the taskbar icon changed from Dolby to Realtek default icon:? -> ? Next, I went to Programs and Features and found out that "Dolby Audio X2 Windows APP" disappeared from the list. Originally, both of these Dolby programs came with the laptop:? After the update, I was only left with this:? The impact of this is that I can no longer toggle the different sound features provided by the Dolby App. I contacted Lenovo via online chat support but the personnel insists Dolby is not a supported program by Lenovo without giving me a valid solution or answer. Did Lenovo omit Dolby App in the latest Audio Driver by mistake? Or did Lenovo intentionally removed it due to the vulnerability explained here: "Dolby Audio X2 (DAX2) privilege escalation" https://support.lenovo.com/sg/en/product_security/len_4884#/IdeaPad. If anybody is facing the same issue / has any solutions / answers, kindly leave a comment below. They refused to service my company's laptops saying it's pressure caused by us. The laptops are attached to tables on the docking station. The only time there is so-called "pressure" is when we open/close the screens. The company has over 200 Thinkpads dating from 20 years ago and it's the first time I see this. Sounds like a "stuck pixel". Most companies do not replace or repair LCD screens for just one, but you could speak with Lenovo Support (phone call) to check.  As an alternative - take the notebook back to the place of purchase and discuss with them.Good luck.

I purchased a brand new Lenovo ThinkPad SL510 a few months ago and I voluntarily purchased the three-year extended warranty because I had heard such great things about Lenovo's repair services and warranty services.  Many people had told me that the warranty services were top-notch and frustration free.  Not true so far in my experience.  First, the screen crack started out as a hairline crack.  I did not drop the laptop or in any way cause the problem.  It just appeared one day and then got worse.  I spoke with Lenovo and they sent me a box to send it to them for the repair, but then they sent it back to me unfixed.  They did not even attempt to fix the crack and told me that they would require my credit card number to repair the screen and that it would cost no less than $900.  This is nearly twice the price of the laptop itself as purchased new.  The Lenovo technician apparently thought that I had caused the crack in the screen and nothing I said could change the technician's false belief that the problem had actually occurred through no fault of my own and might actually be a manufacturer's problem.  I am not happy with Lenovo's handling of this matter so far and wanted to see if others had had similar problems.  Another problem is that if Lenovo does not fix the laptop, then I have a 2 and half year remaining warranty that I paid for that will now be for a laptop that does not even work.  I am now stuc... I did ficgure out that the lenovo user interface driver was the cause of the issue, but i want to use the shortcut conds with the driver fully functional.

Hi,  My Ideapad 710s which is only like 8 months old is currently with Lenovo for a warranty repair.  The comma key became loose and fell off the keyboard, the little clips on the back were broken so I was wasn't able to clip it back on.  I sent it to Lenovo under my 3 year warranty and now they are refusing to fix it under the warranty.  What can I do about this?  Why would anyone break their comma key on purpose? The rest of the laptop is in perfect condition so it is clear that I have not abused the laptop, every other key is absolutely fine.  Seeing that it was simply a matter of clipping a new key on, I asked Lenovo to just post me one out and I would do it myself. They refused, and made me send it in. I did this, and now they are going to try and charge me for the postage which I didn't want to pay for anyway because the repair was so minor!!!  This will be the last Lenovo product I ever buy if they are so petty and treat their customers so badly over such a small repair that any reasonable person can see is a manufacturing fault.  I am furious about this, and hopefully you guys can give some advice.  Thanks

Now, I can't live with blue screen "MEMORY_MANAGEMENT" in 2 months since I'm a gamer and my laptop's warranty will expire within 2 months. Any solution? Plus, I already confirmed it is a RAM Problem. Did tests already and it was confirmed. Did everything to fix it yet nothing works. The RAM must have broke. Should I just approach the nearest Lenovo Store to fix it for me ? Or etc? Hi, The IPS display in my x220 has a few white blotches. It also exhibits the common image retention / ghosting issue that has been well documented on these forums. I sent it in for depot warranty service. The service center said the white splotches are pressure damage therefore the entire LCD is no longer covered and they will not replace it under warranty. 1. I'm very careful with the machine and do not believe I inflicted any "pressure damage" on the screen. Have any of you ever convinced Lenovo that something like this was not your fault? 2. I really doubt the alleged pressure damage caused the image retention. It feels like they are hiding behind a technicality to avoid doing the repair; i.e. they say there is physical damage so the entire warranty on the display is void for all issues even those unrelated to pressure damage. Any suggestions? Or should I just give up and move on? Thanks!

Answer:X220 IPS display: ghosting + white splotches = no warranty repair by Lenovo

Hello Grisjuan,

I can make no guarantees, but can you please private message me your Serial Number and any case numbers or service order numbers you may have.

After reading what i have on various forums, seems we're not the only people facing this issue. The laptop, Z570 (1024-6JG) was a christmas present to a child recently diagnosed with aspergers. This laptop is the only computer they have, and she has to attend a Virtual Classroom. She has now basically lost her work and cannot access her education. The laptop in question has suddenly stopped working. It was shut down normally, kept safe on a desk, lid was closed. Came to it the next morning and....nothing happens. There are no LEDs lighting up whatsoever, not even the charge LED, which worked before. It does not respond to the power button at all, with just battery, just mains charger or both! Basically, what i really need is for Lenovo to actually support a product for once. So what are the options? I have read that one option is to have one sent out so we can swap the hard drives around - that would be perfect. The other option is to be sent or, if it will resolve the issue quickly, purchase a motherboard from you. I can't seem to source one anywhere on the internet, seems i need to contact you (Lenovo) directly. Any help in this matter would be much appreciated. I just didn't want to ring some number just to be told it was the wrong one or there's nothing that could be done. For a laptop that isn't even 6 months old yet, i find it scandalous that it can just suddenly die like this. What happened to the legendary reliability that is IBM Thinkpad? The most recent IB... I want to go for extended warranty pack up.And how to update the warranty details for 2 years

Answer:what is the procedure for extended warranty pack for lenovo ideapad z580

hi vamsilenovo,

Thanks for Posting!

As far as I know as long as  the system is within the First year from the date of purchase the warranty can be extended and limited to three years Maximum.
And For upgrades some system only has a certain period from purchased date when they can upgrade the warranty.
Extension and Upgrades can be combine when purchased.

Warranty extensions and upgrades may vary depending on country and region.
I suggest to call you Local Support line about the Warranty Extension and upgrade.

I have a Lenovo Ideapad U410 and the left part of my screen is uniformly white after turning on the laptop. It's a rectangle about 1 inch long, from top of the screen to the bottom. I got this suddenly pretty much a month after buying the laptop (it appeared suddenly and I didn't do anything to cause it), and then the area of the white rectangle got bigger after I mistakenly dropped my laptop yesterday.  Would buying a new screen and installing it fix this, or could the problems be more besides the screen?  And is this covered by limited warranty?  Thanks.

Hi. I purchased Ideapad y530 40516BU a month ago with   At-home IdeaPad Warranty with 1Yr Accidental Damage Protectionfor total price of $804.54 ($742.35 + tax). I was upset enough when a week later, the improved model, 405166U, with NVIDIA GeForce 9300M 256MB sold for $653.65+ tax (1 year accidental damage protection would be additional $59.00 versus the $79.00 I paid a week before this with total price below the $804.54 I paid for inferior graphics). But now, I have a scratch on the center of the screen of my laptop, and Lenovo refuses to cover it, saying I don't have the 1 yr accidental damage protection (EVEN THOUGH I PAID additional $79.00 for it). What should I do? If I could, I would just return this laptop, and get the 405166u, a better laptop which is ironically cheaper than than what I paid for the same laptop with lower quality graphics. It's not fair! I was charged for insurance which Lenovo did not give me. What should I do?

My Lenovo laptop Y550 is giving me problems, The order number is Order #: 2DKM45 (serial number can be provided if needed) , its an Ideapad Y550 from the United States. The screen goes blank randomly after sometime, all other systems continue to work. Only thing that makes it ok is a reboot of the system. This problem happens quite frequently these days. It happens on fresh boots also and is not a heating issue. Multiple reinstalls of windows did not fix the problem. This problem has appeared with other Y550s also I see on the internet and needs to be fixed in service centers. Since I am in India, I contacted [email protected], I got a reply from [email protected] I responded to the mail from the lenconsumer email ID, mail bounced from that ID. Hi, My 2 year old Lenovo Flex 14 Ideapad has encounter a non-functioning touch screen and loosed usb ports.Due to some disappointing experience with the Lenovo Singapore Service Centre, my warranty has just expired and I have yet to be able to service my laptop. The main issue was that I wasn't able to send my laptop down to the service centre in person, as the operating hours of the service centre in Singapore coincides with my working hours. Unfortunately, I did not sufficient time to make any arrangements to sevice my laptop before the expiry of my warranty. In my attempts to look for alternatives with Lenovo, I've tried contacting Levono Singapore Service Centre on multiple attempts. However, I wasn't able to reach any of the service centre staff using the designated service centre contact number on multiple occasions. I even had to experience occasions where I was put on hold for nearly up to an hour each time. Eventually, I gave up on trying to reach the service center and randomly dialed a general enquiry line with Lenovo.  Unfortunately, the staff that attended to me insisted that I had no other choices but to make it down during my offices hours to service my Flex 14. This whole stretch of trying to contact Lenovo Singapore to obtain information to service my laptop has resulted in me not being able to service the laptop in time.  As such, I would like to seek opinions on is it possible to still extend the warranty for it? Hello. I am interested in purchasing  Lenovo IdeaPad N581 in amazon.de, as it only comes out there with DOS. I want to send it to Spain, where I'll use it. I've seen there's only one year of warranty and, if I'm not wrong, with the european warranty I should pay the shipping costs and everything in case I've to send the laptop to the SAT during this one year. I obviously don't think that's a good deal so I was interested in knowing about the extension/upgrade of the warranty as I can't find anything in the web if I don't input the serial number. Can anyone help me with that? Any details about that extended warranty for that model? (price/years/having the laptop collected at home with no aditional costs/etc.). Thank you.

A permanent bright white spot just showed up on the left side my screen around an hour ago. I've never touched the screen or done anything to damage it so i don't know why this has happened. I have 170 days left on my warranty. To get the screen fixed, is this covered in my warranty? And if so, do i take it back to where i bought it to get it fixed, or a service center?

Hi there! I just recieved my refurb ideapad z500 and not only was the battery not working ,but it has a wierd small white/bright spot on the screen. Will waranty replace it? Also what is it? Thanks!     I picked up my laptop last Friday from UPS. As soon as I got arround to opening it, I noticed that it would no power on without being pluggen in. That is strange because all my previous laptops had at least enough charge to power on, and it said it had 34%(when I powered it on with the power cord). That was the first strange thing. Then, after about a couple hours, I checked to see if it had charged anymore and it still said ?Plugged in, charging 34%?. I left it all night. The next morning, I went to see if it had moved. It hadnt. Then I thought maybe it was just saying that so I unplugged it. It still wouldn?t come on without the power cord. Then on Sunday it finally told me ?Plugged in, Not charging 34%. Somethings wrong with it. Then, I noticed a strange white spot on the right side of the display. It was really annoying me so I called in and added that to the repair list. I just Googled it and it seems like a problem with some lenovo laptops. I also talked to my friend (who knows a lot about computers) and he said it was something behind the display. Will they fix these issues since it was supposedly "inspected" and was as good as new. Thanks!

Answer:Lenovo say my laptop is 'Out of Warranty'

Was it purchased in another country? If so, you might have to ship back to the country of origin to have a warranty. AFAIK, Lenovo's min warranty on laptops is 1yr. If you're seeing no warranty from Lenovo's website, it could easily be a mistake, one that can be rectified by calling Lenovo.

I recently purchased a U510 from Lenovo and I have been having problems with the track pad. The track pad jumps in places that I'm not going anywhere near. The worst problem I have with it is the WIFI signal is super slow, even when I am near my router at full bars (this is a wireless N router) I would only get 7 mbps, I am suppose to get at least 25 mbps. I called a tech and he accessed my computer remotely, but it did not fix the issue with the trackpad, nor wifi. I need to use this laptop for school that is coming up. So I trying to see if lenovo would replace the u510 with a similar laptop with no problems. I would not even mind paying extra, these two problems are a hindernce

Answer:Will Lenovo replace my u510 that is still under warranty with another laptop with no problems?

Hi Shanlks,
I am a volunteer and cannot speak for Lenovo, but it might help if you call Tech Support back to let them know that the problem has not been fixed, and suggest that the issue be escalated. With the school starting soon, timing is important. It might also help to contact your ISP to verify that you really should be getting at least 25 mbps.. I'm paying for wireless at two different locations, am almost sitting on top of the routers, and never get what Time Warner promised me when I signed up.

HI All, I am new to this forum. I have bought a Lenovo 3000 y410 laptop on 31 Jan 2009. Now laptop is rejected from the Lenova service centres because it was manufactured on 19 Apr 2008 and sold late. As per my knowledge Warranty matters from purchase date and not the manufacture date. Please let me know whether there is any solution for this. ThanksNarendra

Hi, I bought a lenovo ideapad 710S Plus and I keep getting the 'DNS PROBE FINISHED NO INTERNET' error in Google Chrome and the internet does not work in other browsers. I seriously can't figure out the problem! I have reset the laptop/clean wipe and the error still occurs. This is my second replacement and the error is still occurring!! I have installed the latest drivers and the error still occurs. I have also tried manually setting Google/OpenDNS or even my own ISP's DNS but same error occurs. Is it a laptop/hardware problem or is it a software/windows 10 update problem? My brother has a normal ideapad 710 on windows 10 and he does not get this error. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions- thanks! Mod's Edit: System model added to the front of Subject line to improve visibility / clarity.

I just bought my 710S plus-13IKB ideapad laptop four days ago and have been facing some freezing issues while watching youtube but it's usually fine once I refresh the browser or close Chrome entirely so I didnt mind them. But just now (like 30 mins ago) it froze and nothing I click or press could work and the screen hasn't unfreeze since then. Im not good with tech stuff so I tried ctrl+alr+del and the novo bios button but both didnt work. Also to be frank, opening applications like folders etc tends to lag a little (or being a bit slow). Not sure if this is a Lenovo issue or Windows 10 issue. Please kindly advise what action I should take. It's really disappointing to see a new laptop being like this. ):

Hello, I am interested in a Lenovo Ideapad 710s (ideapad 710s 13)I asked the sales-team in Germany if I can use a USB3.0 to Ethernet adapter with that notebook but they say that is not possible. Can you please confirm this. Is there a way to use an regular USB to Ethernet-Adapter on the 710S or any other way to get a working RJ45-Connektor? Thank you very much Patrick

Hi community, I've got Lenovo 710S Plus recently. I read about erratic fan control and I don't know if the problem has been solved, that's it? Unless fixed, I found and issue about BIOS version, explain it: BIOS v2.52 release date: 2017-6-22BIOS v2.03 release date: 2017-6-29 That's erratic versioning name? What's the latest?~~~ [Developers only]Now, about fan control issue, I think is provocated by bad BIOS configuration because this can be fixed overriding registers in charge of fan speed and processor temperature management. Somebody has source code in order to fix it? Thanks and forgive my English level.

This laptop comes with Windows 10 Home pre-installed.  Is it possible to install Windows 7 in it's place.

Answer:lenovo 710S - Downgrade to Windows 7?

h5djr wrote:This laptop comes with Windows 10 Home pre-installed.  Is it possible to install Windows 7 in it's place.Go to the bottom of this page, click "Downloads", enter your model number, and then look to see if you are offered a choice of operating system:  Windows 10 or Windows 7. When I did this for my Ideapad 700-15ISK, I was offered this choice, and was able to download drivers and software for 64-bit Windows 7 (and I have since installed Windows 7 on my 700). If you are not offered the choice of Windows 7, it means that Lenovo is not making available any drivers for your laptop for Windows 7.  You might be able to download the needed drivers from the device manufacturers (e.g. Intel, Nvidia, etc.), but you would have to find them for yourself. -- from CyberSimian in the UK

Brand new 710S out of the box with Windows 10 OEM installed 64bit.  Initial setup and Windows update all ran smoothly.  But a big problem appears when it goes to sleep... it won't wake up from sleep.   I have to power off and power on, sometimes twice to get it back.  I see this is  a common problem with other models but I'm opening this thread here to let community know it's also a problem with this new model too.

This happened to me after 3 months of use. Default boot Device Missing or Boot Failed. Insert recovery Media...I pressed ok but there are no options for me. Ok I went online to search for solutions.Went into BIOS:1)Reset to set up defaults. Didn't work2)Boot mode changed from UEFI to Legacy Support and priority changed to Legacy First. Didn't work However at information page it states Hard Disk [Not Detected]. I suspect this is the problem. FYII did not drop or abuse my laptop at any point of time, only put into my bag to bring to school. I live in an area where I search for repair centre it came up with none available. Very distraught right now and hope and kind soul can provide me with solutions. Thanks

Hello! For the past 3 months I have been a satisfied owner of an lenovo 710s.However today my laptop started to behave strange: the screen doesn't display anything, nor do the fans run. The laptop is not running even though the power light is still on. I have tried to reboot (pressing power button for 8s) and have plugged the device back to the a/c power chord. The keyboard seems to be working: I can change the keyboard lighting and the caps lock lights can turn off and on. Has anyone had a similar experience, and if so, were you able to fix it? Every reply is welcome!Tjon

My kid has been using this laptop and loved it, but mentioned a while ago it was difficult to power it back on after turnned it off. However she managed to work around by putting it in hibernate/sleeping mode only, or recycling the system many times (by holding on power button to force it off). The issue was black screen (no Lenovo logo) but computer was on. I didn't pay much attention because she can still make it work, and I was too busy. Last week, there was a windows update (again) and the computer was forced recycle. It never comes back alive again. The same, computer is humming, but no any visual output on screen, just black. Tried novo button, bootable USB, external monitor, all no use. Check the warranty, just over by 2 months! Asked the service store, to fix will cost at least $200-$300 to replace the motherboard! It does not make sense when spent a bit more could buy a new notebook. But my kid liked it and it does not make sense to throw it away either, when it still looks pretty new and only being used very lightly (schoolwork only). It is sad, especially the brand has been gainning my trust. I probably don't expect a "good" solution either from Lenovo or community, but just throw my frustration here (only because have just registered the account and there is no support email or web form). If Lenovo want to make customer happy, the part shouldn't be so expensive for a short-lived laptop! Just by the way, there are many posts about Ideapad's black screen i... Read more

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad U410 - no screen output or black screen, and just out of warranty

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Sorry to hear of all the problems.  Here are a couple of things to try........

First, try a reset of the BIOS.  The procedure can be useful in resolving some hardware conflicts which your computer may have.  Just do this......

1. Unplug the charger / adapter. 2. Press and hold the Power Button for 15 seconds. 3. Plug in the charger / adapter if needed and power up the system to see if the problem was resolved.

If you are comfortable working inside your laptop. try this........

Try the reset again with the battery removed.

If the reset didn't resolve the problem then you may have a failed piece of hardware preventing the bootup. Remove the battery, hard drive, optical drive, memory, wireless card and bluetooth if it is installed. Now try to power up the stripped laptop. With all the hardware removed you should have lights come on and it may possibly beep since there is no memory installed. If the laptop is showing signs of life start adding hardware one piece at a time starting with a memory module and boot up the laptop. If it doesn't power up try the memory in the other slot. Also try the other memory module separately in both slots if two are available. If it is still showing signs of life add another piece and boot. Do this for each item until it doesn't power up again. The last piece of hardware installed is your problem part.

Answer:White display Lenovo G550 Laptop

white display means that the backlight works, most likely an issue with the LCD, but there is also chance that the cable or the motherboard component that is at fault.

The problem is the laptop display goes white on bootup. Only on pressing the laptop screen hard on the right hand side for a few moments restores the display. Any change to display position causes it again.

Answer:Lenovo Z560 Laptop Display White

Hi danny143 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Based on your description , seems that it is more of a hardware knowing that any pressure on the right hand side would restore the screen .

Changing the position may correct the screen if the LCD cable is being relieved of pressure or placement .

Try connecting it to any external screen , would it be the same?
If yes, probable failure may just be the LCD /LCD cable .

Try going to the BIOS ( turn off and use the Novo button next to the power key to turn back on , then choose system BIOS set up ) , check if the screen changes / flickers ?
If yes then it is not related to any driver software and most likely be physical.

You may check on your warranty and call in tech support for the recommended repair.

Update us how things goes.

Regards

I have a lenovo laptop,Z580 Today out of nowhere the whole screen turned white. I shut down the laptop but when i tried to reboot,The screen was still white.Something told me to just remove the battery and see if that would at least get it to boot and here i am,However, the battery is currently out. What could be the problem? Will it happen again? I only have a month left until work starts again,Can't have it breaking </3

Answer:Lenovo Laptop Screen Turns White Upon Boot?

Hmm sounds like you may have a monitor problem mate - can you get into safe mode?? if you can run these
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
Disk Check < if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2

NB SFC best run for about three runs

if no go then do these
SUPERAntiSpyware | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!
Malwarebytes | Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium
AdwCleaner Download
ADW download from bleeping computer delete any rubbish found with the malware scans
(NB If one is running Kaspersky security it may rant about ADW - just ignore it or disable Kaspersky while the ADW is being used)

One last thing try leaving the battery out unplug form the power source and hold down the power button for around 10-20 seconds and then power up again.

Easy Camera in my new Lenovo Ideapad Laptop is not working. I noticed this when I wanted to use Skype and also the "Camera" application. When this application is started, the 0xA00F4271(0x8070001) error code is shown. After spending a lot of time (trying various solutions from web, downloading and re-installing the driver, etc.), the camera started to work for one day and on the next day, the same story. What to do?
