Lenovo X260/X270 RAM options

Question: Lenovo X260/X270 RAM options

Hello everyone,I have an X230 and I need to upgrade the laptop to something with an i7 and 32GB RAM.I am very happy with my X230, but I have to change it. From the product page is looks like the X260/X270 have only 1 SODIMM slot. So, my question is: Is there any other slot hidden? Or I am forced to find another laptop (or even worse to go to HP or DELL) for such a thing? I need a very light laptop because I travel a lot and the X series is just perfect.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Are there any photos available of the three options for the rear battery on the X270? The Lenovo ordering page lists the option, but gives no clue of the size or weight involved.  Any information will be gratefully received.

I have over a dozen Thinkpad models at my disposal (from T400's to T450's, and X230's to X260's) and just lately was asked by someone to look into battery options for the X260. Take a look at this page: https://support.lenovo.com/ch/en/solutions/pd027968 There are 2 batteries shown - the 3-cell 23.5Wh (68) and the 6-cell 72Wh (68+). But there is no mention of the 6-cell 47Wh battery (also 68+). But how did I get to this page? After searching and searching ... and more searching ... through PSREF's, part number sheets etc ... I looked at the FRU on the battery of an X260 I bought recently (45N1735) and searched for it online -> On the bottom of the second page of Google search was the very first Lenovo link ... the above linked-to page. But when I bought this X260 the only battery options given to me were the 6-cell 72Wh and 6-cell 47Wh - no 3-cell 23.5Wh option whatsoever. And even though the part number of the 6-cell 47Wh is on the page (45N1735) there is no mention of it's Wh's or anything else to distingush it from the 72Wh. And now, if you look at this page under 'Hardware compatibility' for both batteries it's written 'ThinkPad T440s' and below that 'Note: For the latest updates on the compatible systems, please refer to the Accessories Compatibility Guide.'. Then you go to this 'Accessories Compatibility Guide' and end up having to download an Excel spreadsheet (no, I am not kidding!). REALLY Lenovo!?!?&... Read more

My both internal and external batteries died due to over discharge and have been sitting on 2% and do not charge any more.
I am wanting to buy batteries but strange to find that the compatible original batteries online are 10.8v and the batteries of x260 which died recently are 11.1v.
I am confused, please help.

Get them replaced under warranty. The X270 has been shipping for less than a year, so the batteries are still under warranty.

Hi I have purchased an additional external battery. On my battery monitor it shows Battey 1 and Battery 2 I believe it's referring to the actual battery and the external battery When I charge with the AC mains it says 50% charging. When I remove the AC charger it shows both batteries 100% charged Sorry it may be a stupid question but I am confused why it says 50% charge when I use the AC charger when both batteries are 100% charged Thank you

Dear, I am an IT guy at a MNC and I ordered three X270 in Auguest from a Lenovo re-tailer.after I received them from the vendor, I noticed that I could hear loud fan noise that was usual compared to x250, 260 and even x270 that I purchased a few month ago while I was configuring outlook,. The 3 laptops have been making almost the same level of noise while it's running just windows.  I did not install anything and I ordered them with win 10 pro and outlook was installed as default. Users keep complaining about it cause they used to use x250 but it didn't make the noise like this. the bios update did not make a difference so I could help them so far. Today, I received a X270 that I ordered a few weeks ago from a different vendor and it's definitely making fan noise but it's a bit quieter than the above 3 laptops.  I searched about this issue in this forum and found nothing helpful so I am going to call Lenovo Service Center to send an engineer to compare the fan noise. If you guys have any suggestions, please let me know. I will also keep posted.

First decent review of the X270. All looking good.Lenovo ThinkPad X270 Review by MobileTechReviewhttps://youtu.be/PxGL1vIX_dw"Lisa Gade reviews the Lenovo ThinkPad X270, the refresh of Lenovo?s smallest traditional business laptop. The X270 replaces the X260 in Lenovo?s 12.5? Ultrabook lineup, and it?s been refreshed with Intel 7th generation Kaby Lake dual core, 15 watt CPUs and Intel HD 620 graphics. It gains a USB-C port and for a portable this small, it packs a lot of ports including Ethernet, HDMI and a dock connector. The 2.9 lb. /1.3kg notebook has Lenovo?s usual excellent backlit keyboard, an MS Precision trackpad, optional LTE 4G and a fingerprint scanner. The Bridge battery system is back with an internal 23 WHr battery and your choice of 3 removable batteries, the largest of which is 72 WHr and allows for extremely long runtimes. The machine is available with a 1366 x 768 TN panel or a 1920 x 1080 IPS display (both are matte and non-touch). Pricing starts around $800, depending on current Lenovo specials."

I've been having an issue with my X270 laptop since I bought it. The laptop is running Windows 10. What happens is randomly (this can take weeks, or days) the trackpad and pointing stick completely stops working. The only solution is to uninstall the drivers and reinstall them using an external mouse. I've tried various versions of the drivers, including the latest, and it still continues to happen. Any solutions to fix this?

Purchased a Lenovo X series Thinkpad last year and had to return it due to software issues that no one could address. Despite of warnings from my wife, I went ahead and purchased a new X260 last month. After using the device for less than 10 hours the LCD display went dead! Luckily I purchased a 1-year onsite service additional warranty. The Tech came in yesterday and replaced the LCD display, however once he was removing the battery I noticed the clip on the right side was broken (misaligned). After he left, the edges of the display frame poped out and I now have gaps in between the frame and the LCD display. I placed a replacent order two days ago but no one called yet. When I called today, the rep was very polite to acknoledge the replacement case number, but quickly suggested that if I'm not happy with the turn-around, I could cancel the order and return the product, which I'm contemplating doing again. At this stage, all I need is a functioning computer as I have a consulting assignment overseas in two weeks and I'm not confident they'll ship a replacement ontime. What's going on with this company? I still have an old X120e (relic) built like a tank, never gave me any issue, which is the reason I tried to remain loyal to Lenovo!!! Can someone get back to me and give me a little better treatment as I'm a very easy going person who can easily become satisfied, instead of making me detest this company?

Hi, I have had my lenevo x260 for about seven months now, and I recently noticed that there is a liquid floating in the display, making it discolor the current patch where the liquid is. It is wery slow floating, but if it has been on its right side the discoloration the on the right ride. In the image included there are three spots on the bottom of the display. I have tried to submit for a service request, but I get an error when I try to login. I do not know where to go or how to solve.

Hi,We purchase Lenovo laptops from our local supplier in the UK, for all of our EU 7 Asia/Pacific sales teams. We used to be able to buy older model (like the X200/X201) with non English EU or Asian keyboards, like German, Danish & Japanese. However, with hte newer models, (like the X240, X250, and now X260), we've just been told by our supplier (Insight) that we can only buy UK keyboards. How can we get hold of other language keyboards? We can't expect sales members to buy and fit these, so they need to be purchased and fitted either by our supplier, or us!Any help would br greatly appreciated! Many thanksBen

Greetings, I just have a quick question, does the Lenovo X250 or will the X260 be compatible with both an SSD and an MSATA storage option? I plan to buy the X260 sometime in late March, but my biggest concern is swapping out the included 500 GB hard drive, or at least supplementing it with an MSATA 500 GB drive. I am worried about how I am going to get windows 10 on the drive, given that by swaping the main drive I will get rid of the OS. So my plan is to find a way to move the O.S. from the main drive to an MSATA. However, if there is a way for me to simply install a new SSD (500GB) and replace the included 500GB 7200 RPM drive, then I would just rather do that. Not having the CD or CD key seems to make re-installing the OS rather difficult though. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

I am really struggling getting this Lenovo X260 to work on Windows 8.1, i do not wish to use Windows 10 so i can not verify if the issue presists there. Basically SVChost will crash randomly when all drivers are installed, i have reinstalled twice so there's nothing wrong with the installation, i have found the issue to be directly related to the built in windows service "Program Compatability Assistant" My solution has been to disable this service, but i think the issue it self is with lenovos faulty drivers. Other annoyances i've found with this laptop is: 1. Bios post time is way to long, literally 5 seconds of watching a black screen, my old lenovo x220 boots around 3 times faster then this new pc, i expect better faster things when they are new but nope. 2. No hardware keys for volume, having to share F1-F2 over having hardware keys was a terrbile idea on lenovos part, what are they thinking? 3. Placement of the FNkey is absolutely horrible, i honestly wish the fnkey was placed among the hardware keys above the keyboard if you ever think of re-introducing them.. ctrl +c / ctrl + v > any FN key. Things that were better then the old x220: Delete key placement is better, top right corner as it should be, thanks for one improvement  Now fix your **bleep** drivers, you cannot stop supporting a 1 year old OS just because microsoft is pushing 10 on us.

Hi, I had encrypted by disk. But I lost my x260 tpm file. I want to erase all the encrypted disk and encrypt again by bitlocker by TPM enablement. However, even I cleared the TPM (by tpm.msc) or reset security chip in BIOS, the TPM still cannot be initialized (a password or tpm file was required). I also tried to hard reset BIOS by pin and hold on the hole near battery side in several second, but failed. Any suggestion? Rather then reset TPM, factory reset BIOS is an ultamate solution? If so, how to do it? thanks.

Hello everybody, Thank you for the great forum and all the community helping in solving our issues! As mentioned in the subject I have some concerns about a display upgrade.Recently I bought absolutely fantastic small notebook - Thinkpad X260.Unfortunatelly I was not able to choose the proper configuration and it appeared to be with the 1366x768 TN display, which grinds my gears. I already read the following article:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-X-Series-Laptops/Lenovo-x260-display-upgrade-HD-to-FHD/td-p/35... There are few concerns:Per: https://download.lenovo.com/parts/ThinkPad/x260_frubom_20160127.pdf I'm about to buy - Original Lenovo LCD LED 12,5" Display FHD IPS 1920*1080 - X260 00HN883.In the article appeared that @kocism used to have some troubles to fit the FHD display somehow. Questions:Is the  FHD front display cover as same as the one used with the TN panel? What about the frame around the display? In general should I buy something else to have this upgrade done in the smoothest way or what I have is enough?  Thank you very much in advance. Best Regards,Georgi

Answer:Lenovo x260 display upgrade - concerns

The parts list provides no clue.  It talks about a "small" panel, which takes a different bezel and cable and provides no insight into what they are talking about.  You are going to have a hard time finding someone to provide a definitive answer.

I have the knowlege how to do this but will I be wasting £70 . I read on another forum (cant remember where) that sometimes the internal video cable needs to be upgraded and this is not something I want to attempt , I dont want to brick the machine and have to sent it to a repair shop . Machine Type Model x26020F5S1Y60N Thanks

Hello, We have a problem with 2 laptops (ThinkPad X270) that "freeze" on the LENOVO logo when using Lenovo Ultra Dock with monitor Dell UZ2715H.Display Dell is plugged by Display port ports and one USB 3.0 (9 pin - used for display integrated webcam) connected to ThinkPad dock. When notebook turned ON with connected USB 3.0, computer freeze on LENOVO logo (To interrupt normal startup, press Enter) and work only when USB 3.0 disconected, or turned OFF and again Turned ON. Firmware on Dock is 2.33.000 Any suggestion?

Answer:Lenovo ThinkPad Ultra (Pro) Dock + ThinkPad X270 (20K6) + Dell UZ2715H

I am just going to guess that computer is trying to boot via USB, so you might try changing the boot order in the BIOS so that Windows Boot Manager or the HD is first.

Hi guys, The configuration options on the T440 range seems strangely restricted where only the lower end non touch screen can be ordered with any variant of windows 7 (professional)  Is there some way to obtain a higher end touch enabled model with Windows 7 Ultimate installed, or are my 2000 ready-to-be-spent pounds sterling heading to another manufacturer's pockets? thanks

I'd just configure the hardware as you wish, get one with a downgrade key, then install Windows 7 yourself later.

Hello Lenovo user base! I'm currently experiencing a moderately annoying problem with a Lenovo Y500 laptop for a customer.  We recentlty replaced the HDD and performed a Clone with Acronis True Image, but upon boot, we no longer boot to HDD, and now we have no other options than to boot to Network. So here's what I need to figure out. 1-I need to get this system back to booting from the HDD.When I try to boot from the old drive, I now have the same issue.  2-I'd like to know why this happened in the first place if at all possible.  I've reset BIOS, disabled and reenabled SecureBoot, ran in legacy and UEFI configurations, and have had no luck at all.  I'd appreciate any suggestions or options for repair! Thanks guys! -Kyle StonerSenior Technician

Use a third party program .If yes then probably you can restore to factory conditions the original and the new one.

I have a problem here, The device preformance wouldn't be affected when i change the power options from "power saver" to "Balanced" or "High preformance" .The CPU speed stays at 0.77GHZ and never go higher or lower than that limit. even in game preformance, The game FPS at "power saver" option is the same at "High preformance" option, So i have a limited and constant FPS and i can't make it better by changing the power option. even though it was working fine before my battery get damaged overtime.I was wondering if that issue is associated with a weak battery cause my battery is bad and need to replaced!

I wanted to buy an Active Pen 2 for the Yoga 720 I'm planning on buying. I was looking at the two options listed in Lenovo's shop: "Lenovo Active Pen 2" and "Lenovo Active Pen 2 With Battery", but when you click on them, they're listed as "Lenovo Active Pen 2 For Yoga" and "Lenovo Active Pen 2 For Think". Theres no other discerning differences in compatibility in the descriptions either.  http://search3.lenovo.com/search?w=active%20pen%202&fsearch=yes "Lenovo Active Pen For Think" is also listed on the top accessories section of the Yoga 720 page which confuses me even more.I'm leaning toward the one with Yoga in the title, but just wanted some confirmation before purchasing since I feel like this isn't totally clear to me and there's a decent price difference. Thanks.

Hello, I purchased a Lenovo Ideapad Z570 a few months ago and it was working well until I started having troubles with my WiFi connectivity.  After browsing the forums and numerous other sources, I tried everything and determined that it was probably a hardware issue, as my other devices all continued to work on my connection, while the Lenovo did not. Tech support did not help, so I sent my laptop in for repair, where it was determined that there was no issue and promptly sent back.  Upon receiving my laptop, the problem remained, and I was unable to establish and maintain a connection over WiFi networks. Once again I put my laptop in to be fixed and received a call from Greg Brethour, who told me I could send my laptop in to HQ and he would take a look at it.  I sent it in the box provided, and received it back after about a week.  Upon starting it up, I realized that the problem remained.  My other laptop had no troubles connecting, so I was still sure it was a hardware failure either with the line of laptops or my specific machine. At this point after two repairs I am not interested in sending in my laptop for further repairs.  I have been inconvenienced twice for about two weeks total and neither repair has fixed the problem.   My laptop is still under warranty and I want a replacement or a refund for my product.  I have tried emailing Greg Brethour as well as Kelli Darrow, who worked on my laptop on behalf... Answer:Lenovo Z570 Issues - What are my options now?

I purchased a Lenovo z570 a few months ago and have been having problems with it since December. The WiFi was unable to establish a connection to networks that other devices had no troubles connecting to.  After two repairs, my problems were still not resolved.  I have been attempting to obtain an RMA number or get in contact with a Case Manager to hopefully get a replacement laptop since I am still under warranty. I have called twice now and been promised a case manager will get in contact with me within three days, and they never do.  When I try to follow up, I am told that support has no contact with supervisors or case managers, and am never able to talk to an actual supervisor. I am now in limbo again waiting for a case manager who I do not know and who I can not even be sure will contact me,  My last case manager did not respond to any emails or calls, and after asking for a new case manager, still did not receive any help. Is there some way I can get in direct contact with a supervisor or case manager to explain my situation instead of being ignored by yet another escalation request?  Or some alternate number I can call with the power to help me with replacing my defective product? Has anyone else had to deal with this, or have a solution?

Hello.. I'm new to the community and this is my first post. My name's Phil. I recently picked up a Lenovo flex 15. i7 4500u 8GB memory 500 GB HD and 8 GB SSD. The model I have does not include discreet graphics. I see that there is a flex 15 available that comes with an nvidia gt740m graphics card. Is it possible for me to open mine up and install this same card on the motherboard? Also curious about upgrading the SSD. Is the included 8 GB SSD attached in a hybrid fashion to the HD or is it an actual separate drive? I'm hoping I can replace the 8 GB SSD with a larger SSD to install Windows and my programs on and still keep the 500 GB HD on board.. Is this possible?

Hey there, I'm thinking of buying a Lenovo Y510p laptop for gaming. http://shop.lenovo.com/ca/en/laptops/ideapad/y-series/y510p/ I'm either going to get the 59370015 or the 59370001. The first is cheaper by $150, and the only difference is the SSD and the display is1366x768 vs. 1920x1080. So my first question is does this affect game play at all? Will the game look crisper on the 1920x1080? Also if it does, will it affect performance at all? Second question is the ultrabay option, where you can add a second graphics card with SLI graphics. Where can I buy this on the Lenovo website, and how do you make sure it is compatable? I found this, http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/itemdetails/0C22235/460/3E71FB3EB22D4A308B517832F7D2264A, but apparently you need the same graphics card that you have on the laptop, which is 750M. Is this available? Thanks.

Answer:Need help picking out a Lenovo laptop + ultrabay options

Dear Revival

Welcome to Lenovo forums

first of all good choise
the difference between the two resolutions is mailnly the image quality and will the difference in the rsolution will affect the games or not it depends on the game it self

secondly the ultrabay options is as follow
?An optical drive
?A second discrete graphics card
?An additional hard drive
?An additional fan
?A space and weight saving dummy card

and it has to be exactly the same as the one installed in the machine

kindly inform us for any further questions

Thanks

Does anyone know what wireless card options are allowed by Lenovo for the Z560? Mine came with a Broadcom 43XX I believe and I find it lacking in performance compared to my previous Intel. I believe laptop manufacturers usually "lock out" in the bios being able to use any wireless cards. Is there any way to find out if Lenovo does this and what wifi cards are compatiable? Thanks

I'm pretty serious about buying a Yoga 920, based on the (mostly) good reviews I've seen for it. However, one of the things that encouraged me to really dig this model were the color options for the case. Silly? Maybe a little, since it doesn't affect the machine's operations in the slightest, but I figure when I'm investing that much in a piece of tech, I should be able to somewhat be able to customize the color if they advertise being able to do so. In all of the promotional materials, they list 3 color options: silver, bronze, & copper. Now, I can find the first two on the Lenovo website - however, the bronze is only for the MOST expensive/tricked out version. The copper isn't even mentioned, even though there's a picture on the Yoga 920 product page showing it. There was no mention of certain colors being premium - so...... Why can't I get a bronze/copper Yoga 920 with any configuration LESS than 1 TB of storage and without the UHD screen? I'm wanting to get the more mid-level option, 8gb mem/512gb storage, and the FHD (for battery conservation purposes, and I just don't need the UHD). I've seen the lowest level configurations on Amazon & elsewhere in the bronze color, but the copper doesn't even seem to exist. What's up with that?

Answer:Color options for new Yoga 920 on Lenovo website?

I encountered the same frustration. I have been stalking this model for months and for what it's worth all of these colors were available the first week the laptop came out. You had the ability to choose your color and customize the CPU/memory/drive just as you can on other sites. I am mentioning this in hopes that they come back at some point. I was stuck on that bronze color and was able to find that color with the upgraded I7 processor at BestBuy. I purchased about a week ago and have been overall pretty happy with the laptop.

Hey guys, I have a Lenovo Y480 whose HDD is in the process of failing.  I just got a Samsung SDD, and put a bootable copy of Win10 onto a USB stick.  Problem now is that I can't figure out how to get the computer to boot from the USB stick.  I'm in the BIOS Setup right now, and I've been through the topics both on the Lenovo website, and through a couple of different links from Google.  I just can't find the options mentioned in either of those websites. I'm not sure where to go from here.  Anybody run into a similar problem?  Any ideas on how to get this computer to boot from the USB stick so that I can install a fresh Win10 onto the machine? Thanks for the help!

nvm, I just got it working. I had to disable UEFI in order to do it from the "Boot" menu in Setup. I'll re-enable it later to make sure I don't accidentally boot from a different USB stick later.

I have an IdeaPad Y470P, running Windows Home Premium 64-bit. With the old Lenovo Energy Management control panel, every time I unplugged the system and plugged it back in later , it had switched from Optimized Battery Health to Maximum Battery Life. Is it likely that Lenovo will ever update the Bios for this laptop, adding the Power Management tab, and making it possible to set up WOL properly? The bios settings that are available are extremely limited.I'm surprised and disappointed.

Answer:Bios Power Management options - Lenovo Flex 2-15

We need also the option to control the fan!

Hi there, for some reason, the battery stretch and battery conservation modes do not appear on the battery settings of the lenovo settings application anymore. Normally they would be visible on the lower portion of the settings page (where i circled in red) http://prnt.sc/d8o2x4 because i do not see these options, i am unable to disable the battery conservation mode, meaning, my battery wont charge past 60%... and i need my battery to be 100%. i tried reinstalling the app, but to no avail. any assistance wuld be appreciated.

What OS are you using win 8/win 10 and what version of Lenovo settings? Also check programs/features and state what version of System Interface Foundation you have installed.Note version 3.122 release notes.https://settingsfeedback.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/1077760-release-version-history You may have to wait 10 -30 minutes for the Battery plug in to self update.

Hello, I recently purchased x230 with Windows 8.I installed Ubuntu 12.0 (attempting to dual boot).  Unfortuantely, Windows 8 is no longer accessible(UEFI error comes up on boot), the restore partition is also corrup ("required partition cannot be found").I attempted to install win 8 PRO that I purchased from scratch.  It failes because the Windows 8 key embedded into the EFI doesn't match the new Windows 8 PRO that I have on DVD. I chatted with Lenovo support, asking to purchase restore DVDs for my laptop - I was told that it's not possible (after going thorugh a couple of people and wasting 1.5 hours on chat_ Please provide some support as it is unacceptable that I cannot install clean version of WIndows 8 and the restore disks are not available from Lenovo. Thank You.

I am thinking of purchasing a Y500 from an online retailer so I can get the SLI version that is supposed to have a bigger A/C adapter as well.  Lenovo doesn't offer the SLI version on their site and it's cheaper to get the SLI version and purchase the DVD drive separately, than to get the DVD version and purchase the extra video card separately ($195.95 for the extra video card vs. $59.95 for the DVD drive.) I like to get the 3 yr. warranty with accidental protection with my Lenovo laptops.  How do the prices compare when not buying the laptop from Lenovo directly?  Do they hike up the warranty prices? Any rough idea on the price difference?  I tried to ask a chat rep but he said he wouldn't know until I gave him a serial number which I don't have yet. Thanks for the help,Rob

Answer:Y500 not purchased from Lenovo, what are my extended warranty options?

I think the prices are the same no matter where you've purchased your notebook from. It's based on your notebook's serial number and I doubt Lenovo cares where you purchased your device from so long as it's a Lenovo product.

My g580 has no options for palm detection in ControlPanel->mouse->DeviceSettings->Settings.I see that for almost all other devices it has some options or the other. The result of which is it is very irritating and difficult to use while typing something. Driver version is 16.0.3 08Mar12.Is it possible to enable palm detection using some other driver version or is it the hardware which is uncapable(which will be a shame)?

Answer:lenovo g580 touchpad palm recognition options.

Hi
Welcome To Lenovo Community

There are different ways to or options for palm sensitivity, for your model, you need to decrease the Touch sensitivity and also check the option disable tapping while typing. When you are typing if your palm hits the touchpad it won't move the cursor.

You May also use FN + F6 on your keyboard for disabling or enabling the touchpad

Hope This Helps
Cheers!!! _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Important Note: If you need help, post your question in the forum, and include your system type, model number and OS. Hi there I posted this on another forum, but thought it might get more of a response on the lenovo forum, so apologies if anyone has read this before.I need a new laptop soon, my T60 is on its last legs, but has lasted a great length of time. I am considering buying either the x220 or the x230, but I live in the UK and the X230 is only available with 2 processor options, the i5 3210 or else the i7. The latter makes it considerably more expensive and probably is too much for what I need. Lenovo is also not letting me upgrade the screen from the default option, as the upgrade is the 3 x 3 antenna (?) so I can't get the webcam.I was originally going to really spec up the 220 and go for that, but I have heard about screen warping problems (my other half has a t400s and has been plagued by the chassis cracking at the palm rests) so I want to avoid that. I know all the other major X220 problems such as throttling have been fixed, one of the benefits of getting a tried and tested machine.I guess my question really is which one should I buy... I am not a gamer, I will be using it for running SPSS, a statistics package; watching movies and streaming etc.Would I be better getting the sale price on the 220 now or do I wait to see if the x230 has more configurations for the uk in the next couple of months? (does lenovo usually increase the options for configuration?) I don't want to lost a good deal on the 220.What do I do? I am very confused! Many thanks for your helpAlison

I've had my X220 for over a year and haven't had any warping problem.

Hi, I've been searching the internet for a few hours now and can't fund much at all other than what is on this site. I've recently bought a Lenovo U330t, the orange one, i7 processor, and it has 4GB ram.I'm ideally wanting 8GB ram in this machine, but have a couple of issues..... Everything I find on technical information suggests this laptop/ideapad can handle 8GB, but the forums seems to suggest people have had issues with it? Have people found it can't? Tech info reads - Up to 8GB DDR3L-1600Mhz [1 SODIMM slots (1 x 4GB / 1 x 8GB)] I'm not very technical at all, but it reads as if it only has one slot, and I can put a 4GB or 8GB into it? The other issue is finding where to do it, if I can do it....The laptop seems to be sealed, there is no easy access flap to get to the ram area, and no flick off keyboard....There are however 10 little silver screws on the base. I figure I have to open the whole thing up to get to the ram area? Main question here is, when I take the screws out, is it the bottom or the top thats going to come away? I messed about with a laptop not long back and the whole thing is still in pieces. Summary:Can it handle 8GB if I buy an 8GB stick?Do I have to open the whole thing up?Is the top/keyboard going to come off in my hand or the orange base part? Thanks for any help you can give on this

Answer:Lenovo U330 touch Upgrade Memory Options?

For Assembly/Disassembly you can refer to the hardware maintenance manual for your unit. According to page 74 you can use 8 Gb module. See snapshop with checkmark for the specs.
