Preferred Solution: Dell 7567: Random stuttering/sound buzzing while playing videos, games, etc. (if charger is plugged in)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The problem still exists even after Dell repaired the laptop. It took two weeks to get the repaired laptop back from Dell.

The problem is:
When I plug or unplug the charger while playing music/video on laptop, the laptop is freezing with buzzing sound for 1-2 seconds when the laptop begins charging. Even after Dell repaired the laptop, the problem still exists.
Tried installing the updated drivers, the laptop works fine only for a short period and then after some time the same freezing with buzzing sound problem comes back.
Also, if the laptop is restarted it works fine for a while and then the same freezing with buzzing sound problem comes back.

Not satisfied with the Dell and Dell repair services.
Need help with this problem.

After my computer did its usual updates, I've noticed a sound issue whenever I've been trying to play games/watch videos. At regular intervals the audio will freeze/skip for a second and make a loud grinding noise, then resume. This happens with music, streaming videos, games, pretty much everything. If I'm watching a video or playing a game, the screen will freeze for a second, then resume.

I'm using a Dell Inspiron N4110 laptop with Windows 7

I assume I need to install a new driver or something, but I am pretty computer illiterate and don't exactly know what I need/where I need to get it from/how to figure out what I need.

Was hoping someone could help here.

Answer:Audio buzzing/stuttering during videos/games

Since the screen will "freeze", suggests the sound problems are just a result of whatever is causing the PC to hang up and not directly a sound problem. Thus another forum section would be more applicable than the sound section.

You can run the Resplendence Latency Mon program and that may help, if you can figure it out as it gives you "information overload".

Gets progressively worse until the sound goes completely, or if I unplug the power cable from my laptop.
Laptop is charging perfectly fine, any ideas?

Sorry about the title, I don't know what to say.

When playing any game or watching any video (on hard drive, dvd or streaming) or playing any game (2d simple, 3d intensive) my computer gets lag spikes and stutters, the sound kind of freezes every time it pauses.

My PC has never had this problem before, it started a couple of days ago.

My graphics card drivers are up to date and I have no idea what to do.

Thanks.

Answer:Lagging and stuttering while playing games and watching videos.

I have tried starting with no background applications and it doesn't change anything.

Hi DeeBeeR,

Welcome to the 10forums.

Since the problem you're experiencing is not a bluescreen I suggest you create a new thread at the Performance and Maintenance forum.

Still crashing and can't find the problem. I've stress tested everything individually and ran Memtest for 10 passes yet still no errors. I tried using Prime 95 and it crashed with that aswell. I tried it with 1 stick of ram aswell and still crashes.

Hi there this isn't really for me - I Ient my girlfriend's old computer to a friend and he's been experiencing problems with sound.

When using winamp sometimes after a while the sound stops working. But winamp appears to not actually be playing songs. Like you'll click a song and equaliser bars go flat and don't measure sound like when a song is playing with the bass/treble or whatever going up an down with regards to what's happening in the song.

So it's not like the song is playing and no sound is coming out - the song is refusing to play. This problem is worse when playing pro evolution soccer on mute with winamp in the background.

He says when he's playing COD2 that the sound stutters and does it with increasing frequency and then eventually stops. This mostly happens when there's a lot happening on screen.

Restarting the whole machine seems to sort it out with regards to winamp but sometimes just restarting call of duty fixes the sound issues.

I remember having similar problems with operation flashpoint about 7 years ago but can't remember how I sorted it.

He has:

windows xp home SP2
p4 3.0ghz
onboard graphics
onboard sound

I told him it might be an overheating issue and to take the case off the computer and clean the dust out, could it be slightly more serious like the northbridge cooler gone bad?

Or is it a windows/driver problem?

I know there's not a lot of info here I'll ha... Read more

Answer:Stuttering/disappearing sound when playing some games or using winamp

Well the onboard sound is actually controlled by the South Bridge chip I believe; from what it sounds like (no pun intended) the drivers could be out of date. Winamp is usually super-reliable so I would check which version he is running and maybe give that an update, which is free. Also, make sure DirectX is up to date and have him run dxdiag to run the sound tests. START > Run > type dxdiag in the bar...

Personally, I would just invest in a dedicated sound adapter. You can get a decent Creative card for around $30 now and the sound quality would be much better anyways.

So basically I've had this problem for a while now but it has always been fairly uncommon. Recently though it has become much more common and there are a few games in particular which will always have this issue occur. I've searched around an seen some posts saying that it may be GPU overheating so I monitored the temperature on it and found that in the various freezes it never rose above 60degrees. I also ran memtest a while back which came up with no problems so I'm really not sure what the problem is. Is it possible that my PSU does not provide enough power maybe? Any help appreciated.

Hey,

Basically started last Friday, i installed crisis and played it for a bit and everything worked fine. I then installed black and white 2 and after 20mins of playing it the screen went blank and there was a buzzing noise coming from my speakers. I switched off the computer and uninstalled black and white 2 and crisis. I then began playing LOTRO and the problem still persisted! So I decided to do a disk defrag, there was no change. I then restored by PC to a a couple of days before I installed crisis and Black and white 2 but its still happening whenever I play LOTRO, but this time the blank screen is not accompanied by the buzzing noise from the speakers.
I really dont know what to do and this is becoming a bit frustrating. It only seems to happen when I'm playing games.

I apologize in advance if my post is missing any information; I attempted to follow the directions for properly posting but while I'm am computer functional, I'm not overly computer literate.

I'm running:
Windows 7 Professional computer 64 bit
4.0GB of RAM
AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 955 Processor 3.20 GHz

The system constantly crashes when playing video games and games consistently lag. We have completely re-installed the OS and replaced all parts in the PC at least twice. When the system crashes the speakers buzz loudly, although sometimes it sounds like it's coming from the computer itself.

We switched from Nvidia because everything has checked out and it was hoped that the problem was the hardware not playing nice to no avail. I'm still getting the same error/crash.

Answer:Routine crashing with buzzing sound when playing video games.

All except last one showed up a WHEA error stating that there was a timeout failure of the northbridge bus between CPU and RAM. Commonly this is due to a mobo, RAM or CPU failure. Just to make sure, if you believe your system is stable enough, you can attempt updating your BIOS for your mobo as that can commonly fix things. In most cases however, this is a problem that will only be resolved by swapping hardware.

If you wish, you can run some hardware tests as followed in the order given:

RAM: Memtest86+ - 7+ passes
CPU: Prime95 - Torture Test; Blend; overnight (9+ hours)
GPU: MemtestCL - Run twice (if any of the tests work on your GPU; ATI cards will need to install the ATI APP SDK as it requires OpenCL)

All of these (excluding MemtestCL) are included in the UBCD if you prefer a Live CD environment (which is the best environment to test hardware on). Note that Prime95 currently does not work on the latest version of UBCD. Also, please provide us temps/voltages using HWInfo with Sensors only option checked. Log two 30-minute instances: one for idle, and one for high load. If you can get the system to crash during high load logging, that's even better.

Hello, I noticed recently that when my fan is at its fastest rpm and the laptop keys are pressed lightly there is a buzzing noise that can be heard. this noise goes away if the fan slows down or I press harder on the keys. Recently I also discovered that adjusting the screen physically as in moving back or forth seems to take it away as well. Any thoughts?

Over the last weeks I have been getting BSODs seemingly at random, however only when I am playing games or watching video. I am getting pretty tired of it, and decided to come here for help. I don't think there is much regularity to the BSODs, they seem to come at a random time, but rarely after more than 30 mins of video or gaming. I have had no problems at all while surfing/writing, even in several hours long sessions. I've attached my dump files as instructed.

System specs are roughly: Dell XPS L502X, Windows 7 Home Premium x64, Intel Core i7 2630QM, nvidia GeForce GT 540m, 8 GB RAM.

Lately my laptop has been freezing randomly when playing games or watching videos. It will have a short 2 second burst of lag (it will sound like a transformer robot) then go back to normal. Hello,

First off, thank you to anyone who takes the time to read about my problem. I am not expert in computers, but I can usually hold my own. This problem has me completely baffled and I will appreciate any and all help.

I am running Windows 7 professional 64-Bit (student version, pretty sure it is retail), and I having some trouble with my PC. As the title says, I am having completely random BSOD's that are getting progressively worse over time. At first i thought it was a motherboard / RAM issue but I have performed every test I could think of and they all test out fine. Unfortunately, I do not have any known good RAM or another motherboard to test with.

I am pretty sure hardware is causing this issue, I just cannot determine what hardware it is. I have run memtest 86+ without any issues. Memtest86 gave 250,000 errors on test number 7 but after poking around the internet that seems to have an issues with modern CPUs.

I have also ran PRIME95 blend test for about 12 hours trying to coax a BSOD out of the sytem, but it stayed rock solid the entire test. Same thing when I tried to run windows driver verifier (although it was for more like 2 hours, not 12 with verifier).

I use Bluescreenview to look at the minidumps, but I am at a complete loss at what could be causing it. The most common cause is the kernel itself, with the NTFS.sys causing it as well sometimes.

Hello, I have a question. My Lenovo Yoga 720 15.6" doesn't overheat, although I've noticed something rather odd. When I play Fifa 17 with the charger plugged in, the fans are very loud and the laptop gets pretty hot. When I play Fifa 17 on battery only (charger not plugged in) the fans are quite silent and the laptop doesn't get hot at all. Why is that? For all I know, I would expect the exact opposite...Thanks in advance!Kind regards,Tijs

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 720 15" : hot when playing games on charger, cool when playing games on battery???

The CPU runs at full speed when it is plugged in and runs more slowly on battery to save power.  Faster = more heat.

A couple of days ago my pc started to behave weird. It would turn off when I'm playing games. But the weird thing is that the blue light on my pc would not go off, only my monitor would. But I could hear that the tower was making no noise at all. I thought it would be overheating so I oponed my case and cleaned it (it was really dusty). After I cleaned it it worked fine again but the next day I got a weird buzz and at the same time my game stutters/freezes. This happens every few seconds and then stops for maybe 10 minutes and then repeats it self by stuttering/freezing for like 10 minutes again. It's really annoying but I can't rule out overheating because I downloaded HwMonitor and it said that my Geforce GT 320 gets to like 104 degrees while playing games. I cleaned it but I just can't get it to lower. I know the graphics card isn't good but I can't upgrade due to the size of my case.

If anybody knows how I can fix my problem please comment.

Answer:Buzz sound and freezing when playing games or watching videos

Hi, Welcome to Seven forums.

If it's a constant buzzing sound or a ticking sound I would go with something like a wire brushing against a fan, or possibly a dead hard drive which makes like a grinding squealing noise. It could also be the CPU fan, if it's a really cheap fan and the blade is spun while the fan is not on the motor can burn out. This will usually either stop the fan from moving at all or it will still spin a little and make a grinding hum.

All of these aren't good, like if you were to keep watching YouTube, freeze, reboot, YouTube, freeze, whatever part that isn't liking this WILL die completely eventually. If it's the hard drive, your files may be at stake, or if it's the CPU fan you may need a whole new computer, so this is why I'm letting you know. So I would stop watching videos if you don't have to.

First, update the drivers for your graphic card. Download the latest drivers for the card and Driver sweeper. Uninstall the old drivers, run driver sweeper. It will clean the leftovers of the old driver. Install the latest driver.

Keep the case open and see if the temps goes down. Are you saying 104 C? if yes, you might fry the card.

Can you please tell us which drivers have you updates and why? What was wrong with old drivers?

When you start your notebook next time test speakers using preinstalled Toshiba diagnostic tool and post the result here.

What to say about notebook temperature. 80C is high temperature but still not critical and if your notebook is placed properly on the desk and cooling fans are not blocked I think you can continue playing the games.
Before you start games close all useless applications and use notebook on high performance power plan.

Hi everyone!
I have a Dell Inspiron 15 7567 gaming laptop, and today I noticed, that my laptop makes very quiet ticking sound when it is plugged in. This is strange, because the sound very similar to a HDD's head movement ticking. The only problem that there's no winchester in this laptop, only SSD-s (1 X M.2 NVMe PCI-E x4, and 1 X SATA3 2,5") working in my laptop. In this series there's no optical drive, so the only mechanical units in this laptop the 2 cooling fans. But strangely the ticking is exactly can be heard, when the fans stop. So when the fans don't spin (0 rpm) the quiet ticking sound can be heard.
The second strange thing, if I unplug the laptop from AC, the ticking slows down. After i plug in it again, the ticking continues faster...
Do somebody sensed the same? The ticking comes from under the keyboard, if I lean forward, I can hear it well. I think, that this ticking might caused by one electical unit, and I worry that my laptop will go wrong, although now there's no other problem, just the sound...

Hi,

I have a new Dell 7567, i5, 8GB, GTX1050.
Problem is it runs smoothly on battery but as soon as plugged it, I see FPS drop till battery reached about full.
I've checked and re-checked all my windows/software settings. They're same for both modes (Power and Battery).
I'm honestly clueless what's happening.
All my drivers are up to date. Windows is up to date.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've only noticed this today, but I normally have music/something playing on my speakers so I probably wouldn't have heard it before.
It's not like SUPER loud, in fact it's pretty much inaudible unless I put my ear up to the charger, I only noticed it when I leaned over it to pick something that had fallen up.
I'm just wanting to check that this is fine? I did read a comment somewhere else that said unless it was super loud it's fine, but I mean it's always best to be on the safe side right?
I've had a few problems with my laptop before, specifically it not charging, and then another point where the screen failed to show things?
But yeah anyways my laptop is a Samsung, and the charger is just the one that came with it when I bought it.

Answer:Laptop charger making buzzing sound?

230v AC transformer drops voltage to approx 20v which is rectified to DC and smoothed.
The noise is from the transformer it hums

Hello, I couldn't find another post with this issue, but I apologize if I missed it. I have an X220 tablet and recently I've had an issue come up where my computer clicks on different parts of the screen on it's own. I thought it was because I was being too harsh on the screen maybe, but then I realized it wouldn't occur for semi-long periods of time and then "randomly" it would happen very often in a short amount of time. I figured out then that it happens only when it's plugged into a charger, either the portable one or the long one plugged into my docking station. It isn't really a major issue or anything, but it is a bit of a nuisance when I'm typing and all of a sudden it clicks to a different section in the type space (such as this text box right now). Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Answer:Random clicking only when plugged into a charger.

hey tippmannry98,welcome to the forums.i suggest heading to >> http://support.lenovo.com and update your unit's drivers.at the same time, uninstall the power manager for your unit and see if that makes any difference.also check and see if the error occurs if you have the power supply connected but the battery pack is not attached.

Need Help
My old laptop has been having a stuttering problem with games for a couple of years now. It?ll stutter for around five seconds, run smooth for around ten seconds, stutter again for five, run smooth for ten. It?ll keep doing that until I stop playing and close the game. It doesn?t start doing the stutter the second I start the game, it?ll start maybe around five minutes into the game and not quit its pattern. It doesn?t matter what game, how old it is, it does this to all.

It also does this while watching online videos. I can?t watch anything on, for example, Hulu, or Gametrailers, without it doing the same stutter pattern.

I didn?t always have this annoyance. It started little over a year after I bought my laptop. During all this time, while putting up with the problem, I?ve done several clean installs. I?ve tried to solve this myself, but never could find anyone with the same exact problem.

I?ve uploaded several videos that show the stutter problem:
MrTatakichi's Channel - YouTube

Also, here's my hardware & processes:

Any help will definitely be appreciated, thank you.

Answer:Stuttering Problem in All Games & Online Videos

Well, 761 MHz processor speed is way too slow for any modern games. You can check go to Start/Run and type chkdsk C: /R and press enter. The command prompt box appears, press Y and reboot the computer. The Check Disk Utility will check the integrity of the drive. You can also click on the PC Running Slow? link in my signature and try those things. Other then that, you need a faster computer.

I am at a loss to what the cause of this is.

I will will be playing team fortress 2 and for about half an hour the game is fine then all of a sudden it starts stuttering madly every time it has to access the HD. It will not cease once it has started and the game becomes unplayable.

Also if I am playing streaming videos online the video will pause while the audio continues and then jump to the correct point again after a few seconds. This will happen a cpl times every minute.

Also when typing in boxes like this the words will freeze for a few seconds before spewing out in a big chunk. Also when scrolling a webpage the same thing happens. I will scroll and it locks up then I keep scrolling and the computer beep noise sounds from the mobo then it unclogs again.

I have now tried reinstallling windows several different times with two different windows versions and also on two different hard drives and still no change.

I didn't have this problem before but I had to reinstall windows cos it was screwing up for other reasons. Now that is fixed (fingers crossed) this thing has cropped up.

Another problem which is stopping me from trying the graphics card is that I tried updating the drivers but when I pick the new drivers they lockup youtube videos and cause a reset. I've tried it with several different versions of catalyst and each time the same problem .

This isnt a headphone problem its a computer problem anyone know how to fix it?

Answer:my headphones make a buzzing sound when plugged in

really man?

there are so many factors involved.

it could be the power plug you have plugged into.. the wall outlet/socket.. that causes buzzing..

plug the headphones into other sources and if you notice buzzing.. cdplayer/iphone/ipod..

then when did this start? is it all headphones? have you tried different headphones?

there isn't much to do inside windows but tweak sound settings.. and make sure your sound drivers are the latest... if you have a Realtek audio card etc.. which of course you like many others don't tell us what you have..

It's most likely something power wise causing buzzing.. do you live in an old house?

or the components inside your computer are interfering... from bluetooth to the fan running inside the computer..

I'm guessing power but How to do anything with power except set grounding and voltage levels? which you definitely shouldn't do with your computer..

and then I would NOT particularly tweak these settings but.. things like

So recently a terrible buzzing occurs when ever I leave a web page with a video running. This also occurs (for anyone familiar) with League of Legends after the game ends and the game closes and boots back to the desktop client.

This began occurring after I downloaded RegClean Pro. I did it half by accident, half by stupidity. ALL I did with the program was let it run, it said I had X numbers of registry errors, tried to make me pay for it, I did not, and then I simply uninstalled the program.

I have no idea how to isolate the problem. I went to do a System Restore but I have only 1 restore point listed, which occurred after RegClean Pro had been installed/uninstalled.

EDIT: Also (NOT sure if this is related) but when I hover over taskbar icons now it shows a "drop down menu" style display as opposed to "window previews." No idea if this is even relevant, just digging for information .

Thanks!

Hi, I am going to describe the story a bit into details, so sorry for long post -.- about 3 weeks ago, I was just about to play DOTA 2, but my Y580 suddenly turned off. It was like if you turn off the power supply on a PC, one second music is playing, after a long day you are about to have some fun, the next second computer is dead, does not respond to anything at all, so I had to let it be repaired. They replaced Motherboard and Extension board. Then I wanted to play DOTA2 again, so I started the game as always for about a year, and after like 10s of game being turned on, laptop restarted. i Thought it was just an one-time glitch, but besides DOTA2, restart came also 10s after starting Portal, Guild Wars 2, Spore, Spore:Galactic Adventures (games legal). So you would thing this happens with every game, right? But then life would be too easy. With nothing changed, laptop just turned on, i want to try if restart comes also by starting Victoria 2. IT DOES NOT. and i would say, that Victoria 2 puts the same strain on graphic card and power supply, as the other games. So I tried to test my GPU and CPU stability with OCCT. No error found. ESET antivirus found nothing as well. Then Windows Action Centre gave me and advise, to download Lenovo Energy Cut (which is the same program as Energy management [that i use] only being upgraded 2004 for the last time?). At first it looked good, because i was playing Spore for like a minute, without restart, but then i changed... Read more

Hi guys,

First of all merry christmas

I have a weird issue where when I play games my computer, including audio and video, sometimes hangs for 1 second and then resumes again. This seems to happen in every game I play and it's very frustrating.

I checked my processes and I do have a 'System interrupts' process that sometimes pops up. I run Windows 8.1 , have 8GB ram, and use a GTX680 with the latest nvidia drivers.

Attached you can find my DXDIAG report.

I ran CCleaner and also did some virus scans, but no luck.

Any thoughts guys?

Answer:Stuttering while playing games

well be a scientist and start experimenting!! come on man..

1. turn off all sound in game.. run game. does it stutter?

2. disable sound in your actual windows 8.1 - go into device manager etc.. then run game.. stutter????!!

3. when running a game, (if it doesn't crash it) press shift, ctrl, and ESC. Look for whats using hard drive and look through performance for any % like disk usage..

4. what games are stuttering?

i mean your problem is so in-general (lag in games) its so hard to determine where to start.. but yeah, drivers are a must..

video drivers, hard drive updates, windows updates, sound driver update a huge one....

but if your sound and video hangs.. its hard drive or memory trying to sort it out..

you usually should run games in a clean environment meaning you disabled all services and background apps you aren't using because you are playing a game.. and when you restart your computer all your services will come back anyway..

if you dont know how to do this post here again..

Hi people,

I bought a new computer back in June which I built myself. Everything worked fine, until now.

Nothing has been moved, knocked, or changed inside the case.

Problem:

When I open a game it starts buzzing. I looked online and I don't really know what kind of buzzing it is to determine the problem.

I tried to change the v-sync in the game settings and the buzzing changes to a different buzzing sound.

My friend told me it is coil whine, but I'm not sure? I only bought it in June. I haven't been gaming much either. (It never did this before).

I uploaded a video, the sound might be a bit quiet, but you can turn up your sound a bit. (I promise there are no loud sounds in the video to pop your ears/speakers).

PC Specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7 4820K @ 3.70GHz
GPU: PowerColor TurboDuo R9 280X OC 3GB

SSD: Kingston SSDNow V300 240GB
RAM: Patriot Viper 3 Black Mamba 8GB
PSU: Corsair RM 850W

Can anyone determine what the sound is? and what I should do?

Many Thanks as always, Chris. :wave

Answer:Buzzing Noise when playing games

Try routing your audio cable as far from your video cable as possible . . . sometimes a poorly shielded cable can cause interference or receive interference from other data cables. The fact it only happens when you are gaming (i.e. heavy graphics usage) indicates this could be the issue.

I've also read where someone solved this type of issue by going from 16bit to 24bit audio . . . but I have no direct experience with this.

What brand computer is it? Anything on their site about such an issue? If a custom build, check the motherboard site and web chatter about the board for mention of such an issue.

Hello! As the title says whenever I'm playing a game it'll randomly freeze for a couple seconds and buzz/loop the current sound through my speakers. Sometimes it won't recover and I'll have to shut off my computer manually. Sometimes after a long freeze it will say Display driver crashed but recovered, I've tried updating my drivers multiple times but nothing. I'm honestly not that computer savy, I've cleaned my computer multiple times and clean started it. Works for a bit but then right back at it. It could be that my graphics card isn't strong enough for the games I play? Doubtful but I'm not sure, especially since I turn down all the graphics. It usually only occurs if I'm playing a game and have a tab open or something. Also did a computer info scan that I'll attach. Thank you for your time! Truly do appreciate any help you guys can give me.

Got my new inspiron 7567 laptop yesterday and found out that i only heard sound through the left speaker everytime. Went through the audio test for left and right channel output on youtube and tried to windows test option in playback devices windows 10,still everytime even if the animation says it playing through left and right speakers separately i still get audio from the left speaker both times. Is there some setting i am missing out on or is it a hardware issue.please help

Answer:Audio playing through left speaker only on dell inspiron 7567 laptop

sandy5837Is there some setting i am missing out on or is it a hardware issue.
Hello. This is the audio hardware test for the laptop's internal audio hardware. It works differently from the other tests. If no sound is heard through the laptop's right speaker during that test, then the cause is hardware failure. If it passes, then it's software.
If it is software, then download and install a fresh copy of the audio driver. Get it from your model's support page, or I can give you a link. Installing a fresh copy will re-set the audio settings, which would fix it if the cause is mis-configuration of the settings.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525, it's about 2 years old now. It works fine on battery but as soon as I plug in the charger the screen goes off and it seems to go into sleep mode. If I boot it up with the charger plugged in there is no action on screen but the media lights flash as usual and it appears to power up for a while, then goes to sleep. Earlier when I powered it with the charger in I managed to get into the pre-boot system tests. After running the tests they reported that there was an error 2000-0236 with my LCD Inverter. However when I ran the tests off battery power, without the charger plugged in there was no problems or errors.
If someone could shed some light on this strange problem I'd be very grateful.
I Hope I've provided enough info.
Thanks

Hello,

I'm having some problems for about 3-4 weeks now.

Up until the first BSoD I could load two games at the same time and feel like nothing was wrong or slow. Now when I try to do this (for w/e reason), the 2nd game I start either freeze or loads but when I'm moving the mouse it stutters to 1fps movement, sound too. This happens in both games, exactly the same.

If I don't do anything, main menu animation, music runs just fine...

When I try running a game, for example CS:GO. It works fine a bit, then randomly freeze + loop sound and can't tab out. Only after I End Task the program it goes to normal, or so it seems. Then after I try to reenter the game, it freezes again and I get BSoD.

Another thing I found is, while a game is open and I'm tab out in firefox for example; scrolling, general movement of the browser is not fluid and has some stutter. It lags even when I try to drag something on desktop.

Ran multiple malware scans, even in parted magic (virus scaner) on flash drive boot, nothing of note was found.

Thought the problem was because of some part of the video driver, so I uninstalled it. Rebooted in Safe Mode and ran Display Driver Uninstaller to be sure nothing was left from the previous one, reinstalled the latest one and the problem still persisted. Reinstalled Windows with fresh drivers, same problem.
Unistalled .Net Framework rebooted, then unistalled ATI VDriver, rebooted. Did a windows update and it installed a fresh .Net, restarted and after that I in... Read more

Hello,
I have this insufferable stuttering where it seems like I'm dropping/skipping a frame every couple of seconds in a variety of games. These games include Total War: Rome II, Dota 2, and Sim City.
I've owned my computer for a year and there have been no issues with anything of the sort. Recently, though, I moved and had to have my computer shipped so it is possible that something harmed it during the shipping (I have done this before with no issue but maybe this time is different). I've even tried restoring my computer to a previous point in time when everything worked perfectly but nothing has changed.

Hello,

I've been scouring the web for a while now and haven't found the answer yet.

I'm running a Sony Vaio VPCEB laptop. I used this for gaming a year ago, and have started using it again. Now though, every few seconds while playing a game, the game will stutter or freeze for a couple seconds, then resume. It's made gaming impossible on the machine.

Using PC Wizard, it tells me my graphics hardware is the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD. This is no problem since all the games I play are old or emulated. I can't seem to find a driver for it either.

OS is Win7 x64. Any help you can offer would be great!

Hello All,

I have built my own PC and I've been facing random freezing with buzzing sound issue while playing almost all games (Battlefield 3, Assassins Creed II and Revelation, CoD - MW 3, and Black Ops, Batman Arkham City and recently Saints Row 3) this freezing issue is really random and can happen anytime during gameplay.
I've updated all drivers (graphics, sound, BIOS etc). One thing to note is some of these games work without freezing for hours when I set Affinity to two CPUs but when I start playing Saints Row 3 with Affinity set to 2 CPUs the games becomes very slow and if I increase CPUs then it freezes after few minutes. I've tried to reseat the heatsink with thermal paste added two cabinate fans one blowing out and one in but this has not solved my problem.
I ran HWiNFO64 tool and saved log file of various readings while playing Saints Row 3 when freezing issue happened and I do not see any heating problem.

I would really appreciate any help to solve this issue.

For the record I now how a legit copy of Windows XP which I've just done a fresh install and updated up to SP3.

I will be playing team fortress 2 and suddenly get several second stutters like the HD is chugging or something. It specifically happens when there is some action on the screen.

It also happens when I am watching steaming video. The video will stop for a couple of seconds while the audio continues and when the vid starts again it jumps to meet the audio.

Also when I am scrolling down with the mouse it will get jammed for a second or two then jump down.

Another thing I just noticed while writing this is when I type that too will jam for several seconds then jump.

What's going on here?

Like I say fresh install and it didn't happen before on my previous install. My drivers are all updated (all the common ones).

plz help..... before all those updates it was playing just fine... system restore is out of the question cuz it takes up memory on HD so i deleted it

Answer:stuttering while listening to music and playing games

Audio is on a shared IRQ (Interrupt) with a higher priority device. Thus the higher priority device can interrupt the sound if it needs to do something and thus you can get the stuttering. There can be other reasons but this is one to consider.

Uninstalling the sound, restarting the PC and then when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the sound and sometimes Windows will install it on a different IRQ and help with this problem.

Go to the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the entry for the sound and then LEFT click "uninstall". DO NOT check the box to also uninstall the drivers. Restart the PC.

Been researching this problem (stuttering or chugging lag) for last few days. Unfortuneately I can find nothing conclusive solution wise and am a complete newb when it comes to PC tech stuff. I know enough to get around on my PCs (have 2) and install and play games etc. But when it comes to techincal stuff I am lost. So I finally broke down and decided to try some posting....

Have 2 PCs, older one runs my usual games fine, no apparent lag or problems. Newer one (bit over a year old) seems to have had lag problems ever since I bought it. At first I just assumed the lag was zone lag on the game I was playing (Everquest - online mmorgp) possibly because I was running three instances of the game (multiboxing) and perhaps just didnt have enough ram, but as time went by I noticed that:
1) the lag stutters and chugs
2) is somewhat intermittant - appears and vanishes at seemingly random times for no apparent reason/s (usually the lag issue isn't as bad at night - or if I stay in a certain zone for long periods of time, frequent zoning seems to make it worse - neither of these appear to be very consistant)
3) seems to affect any online games I use on 2nd PC (and thus far that is all I use it for)
4) is present even while one instance of a game is running

While it doesn't actually stop me from what i'm doing it is very annoying, and i'm very tired of having to deal with it.

I just bought this laptop the other day refurbished from NewEgg, it was supposed to be a basic setup ( No DVD-R/W, BlueTooth, nVidia Graphics, Camera, Fax, the better resolution screen, etc). But lucky me they sent me one with all those features for the price of the basic model, my point being I REALLY don't want to send it back for a replacement so please try not to suggest it.
When I first got it I checked the battery and charger to see if it was Dell brand but unfortunately they were replacements like I expected (but the charger is the right voltage). My problem is when I plugged it up to the charger to activate Windows and install updates, after which I started to turn down the brightness from the Fn / arrow keys and when I got to a certain level of brightness the screen went black, after unplugging it and a restart I plugged it in again and it did the same thing again without me touching anything. So for a couple days I just didn't use it while it was charging.
Today I decided to update the BIO's to the latest version incase that was the problem (from A5 to A21 or something like that) and that requires the charger to be connected so I did which gave me the same result, only this time I realized the screen wasn't off it was the backlight  that was off. So having to use a flashlight to see the screen I updated the BIO's and while it was updating the screen was visible again but after it restarted the screen still stayed on but was flickering ... Answer:Dell Latitude E6420 screen flickers with charger plugged in?

Good day ,
Here in this situation the issue is prominent when the charger is connected .
Try working on the system with only battery connected to see if the issue is seen only when the charger is connected then its faulty charger issue.
I would suggest you to test the system's display in safe mode with networking as safe mode uses very minimal graphics .
Else update the video drivers on this system to do so go to support site .
Kindly confirm the video card installed on your system is NVS 4200M if it is then you can install the same by clicking on this link .
Also check if the issue is seen on an external monitor with and without the charger connected (This is done to confirm if the system board is working fine ) and initiate the LCD BIST (Buit in self test ) on the system by pressing the D-KEY while turning on the system (if solid colours are seen on the screen along with flickering then its a faulty screen ).
I would request you to try these steps on the system with and without charger .
Hoping to hear from you soon .
Kindest Regards ,

Hey folks,
I've got this really annoying & frustrating issue and I'm left clueless.
It all started when I decided to give Napoleon Total War after quite a few months of not touching it.
As it started up, in the menu I noticed the mouse being extremely laggy and then screen flickering to black.
Whilst watching the opening cutscene intro the sound cut off whilst the movie continued to play and then the sound came back.
During gameplay the game would flicker to black and back to normal again.
I never had any of these issues before and as far as I know nothing has changed since to make it no longer work properly.
I updated drivers (I've got 560ti) and the flickering is still there and it even giving me CTD's. Originally any other game was fine it was just Napoleon Total War, so uninstalled it, deleted the mods I had on it, and redownloaded it. Still the same.
I verified cache. Still the same.
I Googled and found various solutions for similar issues (not sure if they are the same) and still getting no where.
Something has gone awry and I'm not sure how it suddenly started or even how to fix it.
Spent many days trying to solve it, with the issue getting worse to then getting back to where I started but still not fixed.
Now the issue seems to be effecting every game, with flickering to black screen often and stuttering whilst playing.
I've got a feeling that it may have had to do with the drivers, and perhaps I didn't uinstall them properly when trying to rollback and now any... Read more

I've had this computer since June of last year and just recently in the past 2 weeks it has been making a very annoying buzzing sound (the tower not the speakers) while playing games. It is a physical buzzing noise. Not a "alert beeping buzzing noise". It's physical and annoying. It only happens when I'm playing games. When I tab out of the game I'm playing the sound is gone. All I have to do to make the sound go away is minimize the game. But it's really annoying having to deal with this while I'm playing games. Can you help? What are the main causes of this and how can I fix this in a simple way?

Answer:Annoying buzzing noise coming from tower only while playing games.

so its coming from the computer?

14 more replies
Relevance 73.8%

It is not coming from the tower either, the sound is coming from the top of the monitor (where the speakers are) and continues emitting when the computer is muted.
There is a continuous light buzzing sound but the sound is really amplified when playing steam games for example Skyrim, The Witcher, and Firewatch as shown in the video for some reason "lighter" games like Minecraft have no effect.
I've noted that on 0:20 in the video it does stop for a split second when changing the graphics settings
I am running Windows 10, have an Asus monitor and am using this aux cord: iXCC 3-Ft Tangle-Free Male to Male 3.5mm Auxiliary Cable
I thought it was the aux cord at first but I have tried using another one and the problem continues.
Thanks for your time in advance!

Does anyone know what I could do to get rid of the stuttering and pausing problems I am having in BF2, 2142 and more in Project Reality? I have a P4 3.4 with 2 gigs of memory, running on XP. My video card is a Geforce 6800 GT OC 256mb. My computer has more than enough power to run my games. At times it runs great then the stuttering starts for a couple of seconds and maybe longer then it goes back to normal. When I turn and look in different directions, it pauses and stutters also. WTF!! My video drivers are up to date. Any suggestions would help. Should I lower the AGP aperture in the BIOS to 64mb instead of 128?

Answer:Stuttering and random pausing in games

I think you should aim your concentration towards your hard drive and or CD Rom drives. Check SMART status on hard drive. The drive may be failing and those pauses you are experiences is the disk drive going offline to reallocate and recover bad sectors.

Hi!
I have bought a Dell Inspiron 15 7567, and yesterday I noticed, that my laptop makes very quiet ticking sound. The sound very similar to HDD's head movement sound, the only problem is, that in my laptop there is no HDD. I use just 2 SSD (1 X M.2 PCI-E x4 [Samsung 960 EVO], and 1 X SATA 3 2.5" [Samsung 850 EVO]). In this model there's no optical drive, so the only mechanical part of this laptop, that coud generate this sound, if it would be mechanical sound, is the fan system. but strangely the ticking sound only hearable when the fans stop spinning.
So I don't think, that the fans would create this sound, because when I can see in AIDA64 that fans speed is 0 RPM, the ticking sound exactly then hearable.
Additionaly strangely, when I unplug the laptop from AC, the ticking sound almost stops (It not stops, but the click sound becomes rare)... After I plug the AC back, the ticking continues...
Do somebody sensed the same? Is it normal? My opinion, that the sound caused by on of the electronical units bad groundings, or something. Although there's no power or other issue with my laptop now, but I don't want to wait until it gets bad...
Thanks!

Today the battery was getting low so I plugged in the laptop. As soon as I did that it shut off. I can't get it to turn back on, no lights come on and it doesn't even try to turn on. I noticed that when I plug the charger into the laptop the green light on my charger shuts off. If I unplug the charger from the wall and wait a few seconds then plug it back in the green light will come back on, but then turn off as soon as I plug it into my laptop. I've tried a known good charger on my laptop, same thing happens to it. I also tried my charger on a known good laptop and my charger works. I tried removing my battery and using only electrical power, still nothing. The charger voltages are all fine, the wall voltages are all fine, it's something with the laptop itself. Any input?
Thanks,
Wayne.

Well, this started about a week ago. I thought nothing about it. I thought it may have been a bad driver. So I updated my graphics driver, stuttering is still there. So next I tried to update my hard drive firmware, but the stuttering is still there. Next I tried, to update my bios, that didn't help it. Any ideas?

I have an asus g73jw laptop with the specs:

Hello All

I have an HP Pavilion p7-1254 (at least started as that, had some stuff upgraded, explained below), AMD A6-3620 2.2Ghz Quad Core with AAHD2-HL board; save you the time of looking it up if needed. What happens is the system with will just freeze. Occasionally the audio that was playing with stutter infinitely like a skipping CD. Rarely I notice the system will stutter once or twice before totally freezing, happens in a couple seconds. But mostly, it just stops. When it freezes, the only option is to hard reboot.

I have had this problem for quite some time, probably about a year or two. At first I really didn't notice any consistency in the crashes, seems totally random. Some times it would freeze while browsing any random page, be it videos, forums, ad ridden or ad free. Any browser as well; Chrome, Firefox, IE. It also crashes when playing some games although not other games that have higher requirements; e.g. Guaranteed to crash, probably within 10 mins, if I play '8-bit Boy' on Steam (about as low res as implied) but I can go on 4 and 5 hour binges on Elder Scrolls Online or Skyrim with no crashes. I have recently noticed that YouTube videos (any video) is a guaranteed crash within a 20-30 seconds.

I have tried everything I have been able to find to do, to try and fix this issue; but none have worked. So far the hardware parts that have been replaced with new components are the RAM (now 2x4GB GEIL Enhanced Corsa PC3-12800), HDD (now 2TB WD Cavi... Read more

Hi,

I would suggest you to check the performance in “Safe mode with networking”.

Run the Windows Audio Playback Diagnose and Repair from the below MS FIX-IT: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/AudioPlayback/

You can even try running Microsoft Fix IT’s from the URL mentioned below according to the issue:
http://support.microsoft.com/fixit/

If this issue started occurring after doing some recent software changes on your computer, then I would suggest you to restore your system back to a date when it was working fine. System Restore will affect Windows system files, programs, and registry settings only.

Hope this helps.

I am experiencing a buzzing sound when I play music online.  I primarily listen to music through the microblogging site Tumblr.  For example, if I had a song playing for a minute or so and opened a new tab I will hear a buzzing sound for anywhere between 2 to 10 seconds.  Other times, particularly during songs that are longer, the audio will fail and I will get an error message with a red x on the song I clicked.  Neither of these problems happen all the time.  The buzz is more prominent and seems to happen more frequently when I am opening and closing tabs.

I have narrowed this down somewhat.  It does not happen when I play an actual CD in the drive.  It does not happen when I listen to a song on Youtube.  It does not happen if I play an mp3 that I have saved on my computer.  It does not happen when streaming a podcast.  I have listened to podcasts that are over an hour long and did not get the buzzing or failed audio message.  It does not happen in Internet Explorer.

This seems to be related to tumblr sites and/or Chrome.  I have pasted a link as an example of a song where this occurs.

You can safely remove flash players re-install, I think your plugin may be out one version... should still work though, but might help. Updating Shockwave is also a good idea as sometimes the technologies are interdependent.

- What Windows system do you use?
- Did you try to recover the notebook back to factory settings?
- Does the stuttering sound appear also playing mp3 files stored on the HDD?
- When did this issue appear?

Hi Everyone! please help!
Every time I turn my computer on (after it was completely off) again which I do a lot as this laptop is so fast to turn off and on, the video streaming does not work.
So after I turn on I go to the bbc, Facebook, youtube, or other streaming sites the video loads and I can click play though it does not actually play, just a still image. same on every website. so to fix this I have to restart the computer, then it works. So for some reason turning the computer off causes this and restarting it fixes it - seems strange to me though more irritating
Second issue is that again online streaming videos stutter all websites all browsers (chrome internet explorer etc.). I have fixed this though by setting Nvidia to be used for the browsers instead of intel. Though this solution uses more power and might be related to the other problem.
This problem has been here since I got the laptop in December 2015, have updated to all the latest drivers bios, applications etc. What else can I do ???

Any help with the videos not playing would be greatly appreciated it is so annoying to turn on the computer go to websites then find you can't play the videos, then remembering you have to restart.

Answer:Dell XPS 15 9550 Videos online do not play after computer is turned off, also video stuttering

How are you shutting it down? If you use the standard "Start Menu" > "Power" > "Shutdown", it does not completely shut it down. It saves part of memory in a hibernation file which allows it to quickly restart. This could cause issues when you start up again. If you have not tried this, set up a desktop shortcut (right-click on an empty spot on the desktop, select "New" > "Shortcut" and enter "shutdown /s /t 0" in the box (that's "shutdown" + space + forward slash+"s" + space + forward slash+"t" + space + "0" [the number zero]) without the quotes. Click "Next" and give the shortcut a name, then "OK". This will shut the computer down completely.
The other option is to disable "Fast Startup". That should accomplish the same thing. See if either of these help.

I have this annoying buzzing sound that I can't figure out why or how to fix it!
I have Razer Kraken headphones which came with this cable that plugs mic + headphones to the same port. This cable are both connected to the rear of the PC.
When I connect them to the front, the mic doesn't work. Only the headphones.
When I connect just the headphones without the cable from Razer, then the same thing happens, only the mic doesn't work.
I've tried updating drivers, etc.
It also happens with my speakers, when the cable is connected to the rear. I put my ear near the rear of the computer and I can hear the same buzzing sound.
I've tried changing cables but it didn't work.
I also used other earphones that have a built in mic and the mic did not work for some reason...
Like I said, it only happens while in games.

I don't know how to fix this please help me.

Answer:Annoying buzzing sound while in games

Have you checked for and cleaned out the finned heat sinks on the CPU and maybe on an add-in video card? I had a similar type sound in a computer, irritating as he!!, then one day I cleaned all 4 of my computers and the problem sound in that one was gone. I recalled that I was thinking that maybe the sound in mine was coming from the CPU cooling fan as an alert, could have been because the tiny internal speaker had come loose from the motherboard and running videos or heavy CPU usage programs could have been involved.

Hello all,
I've been having issues recently with my machine which have rendered it completely useless for anything more than a light gaming and web browser system, which is rather annoying :pfff:
So I have been happily playing Fallout 4 since release (loving it) right up until Thursday, when my PC decided to freeze up on me and emit a loud buzzing noise. The screen goes black, and whatever sound was playing is looped. I went to test a few other games to see if this happens in all 3D Applications and intensive games like GTA V, Metro 2033 etc all freeze up after about 5 minutes of gameplay, but games like Half Life 2, Minecraft etc do not. One weird quirk I found was that leaving GTAV running, but not moving the character did not cause any problems at all, it ran for an hour and did not stop until I moved Michael, as soon as I did this, the pc locked up again.
I got a new GTX 970 Strix (black friday was good to me) and the issues persist, so I know the GPU is not the issue. My Specs are as follows.
AMD FX-6300
Asrock 970M Pro3
8GB Corsair XMS RAM
Strix GTX 970 4GB
Corsair TX550M
Corsair H60i

Things I have tested so far:

Just been asked for possible reasons for the above by my cousin, she has cleaned both lens and discs to no avail. She has a 2 year old Dell machine on which she and her husband watch DVDs and play games.Recently they have been suffering stuttering sound, not affecting the picture, but only when playing DVD films.Others have advised a disk defrag which I said would not help, any ideas what may be the cause? They have also noticed when playing games, that swift movement of the mouse causes blank patches on the screen that follow the movement.I don't play games, but advised that it is likely that the graphics card is struggling to keep up, and that the solution, if they are seriously bothered would be to upgrade the card. Was this good advice?

I recently just upgraded my Mobo/CPU as well as RAM/PSU. Only hardware I brought over to the new PC was my Hard Drive and Vid card. I'm having issues of certain games (Bioshock,Hellgate:London Demo, Dance Online) having major static/stuttering during all aspects of the games. Other games such as Team Fortress 2/Crysis Demo are not having the issues at all, and everything is perfect. I don't have a sound card, so I'm using onboard. Should I buy a sound card as well?

I'm wondering if this is a software issue with the games themselves, or if it is my system?

Hi everyone,

4 months ago freezing problems started with my laptop and running chkdsk and hdd regenator repaired bad sectors and this relieved my pc health making it better than before, but not totally sufficient.

However in the past 2 months I am suffering from a new set of freezing issues which occur so often and i could not manage to solve or get any improvement. Basically, it happens
1)every 20-40mins and freezing lasts about 5minutes. if I am playing a music video on a website, then the speaker would be forcing itself to play the music for less than a minute which would be heard as buzzing, and then it will stop.
2) Same type of freezing also occurs when a game is open while all browsers and music players are closed in the background.
3) In rare occasions no freezing occurs but skype crashes during a voice call giving an error related to shockwave. I believe this could be a related problem but not sure.

here some more info:
-graphics driver is updated to latest version and downgrading back to the older versions did not help
-no disk errors could be found using chkdsk and hdd regenarator scans/repairs
-Uninstalling flash player and installing/upgrading to the latest version did not work
-cleaning cache using ccleaner, diskdefragmenting using popular softwares, or running popular computer care taker softwares did not help.
-windows 7 has the latest updates.

my computer info are:

Operating System
Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1
CPU
Intel Core i3 350M @ 2.... Read more

Yesterday I needed a tool for conversion of MOV files to WMV files and I found this program:

Free Convert MOV AVI to FLV Flash WMV Converter - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com

During the install, it said that some of my media drivers were "obsolete" or something like that and offered to delete them from the registry. The dialog box said "Yes - recommended". I clicked "Yes" to all prompts - there were at least 15-20 of them. Then the program installer installed some codec packs. I am pretty sure that ffdshow and K-Lite were installed although I don't know which version. I think there was also some 3rd type of codec pack but I can't remember the name. It also installed some strange version of media player classic (1.3.1976.0).

Anyway, the program didn't actually work after installation, it was shareware and asked me for money to convert entire files. So I uninstalled it from the Control Panel/Programs.

Unfortunately, now I have a problem when playing ALL media files. It manifests as a strange intermittent buzzing sound during music playback (in Winamp, Windows media player and Foobar - they all have this problem). Also, the buzzing sound appears during playback of video files in KMPlayer or Windows Media Player (it seems that in WMP the problem is more pronounced).

The buzzing sound occurs unpredictably. There is no specific rule to when it will occur. So if I play a sound file 5 times, it will be heard at diffe... Read more

Hello!

Operating system: W7 Homepremium 64bit

This has been happening for months, everytime when I scroll in google chrome, panning and zooming images through Windows Photo Viewer, my computer makes a buzzing sound through the external speakers not the internal pc speaker, typicaly in a weird frequency when I do scroll/pan/zoom. This also happens in some other apps but surprizingly it does not happen on Mozilla firefox.

By the way, my google chrome is updated to the latest version. Sometimes it gets really annoying as the frequency disrupts my ear.

Thank you very much. All help is appreciated!

windows 10 - loaded without my authorization, wasted hours waiting, a whole new configuration, hours to reset some semblance of normalcy, and issue after issue of **** that doesn't work.. lame offers of resolutions, patches, and 'it should work now' by shady-tree IT wanna-be's.. who should of kept their mcdonald's jobs as it fit their competency levels..
maybe when trump becomes president some of this **** they pass off for product will actually get better.. if not, then they should head to mexico, after all, half of their 'technicians' don't speak 'good enough English'..
if your with me - tell them they can now help pay for the wall...

Ive had this problem for aslong as i can remember, built this pc coming up to 3 years now and this crash is now testing my resistance to throwing it out of the window.
Specs - most of my stuff has been bought from overclockers/Aria./////
Gigabyte Z77-D3H////
Intel core i5 3570k ivybridge (overclocked from overclockers to 4.4)/////
GTX 970//////
850w Corsair PSU////
2x4gb samsung ram 2x4gb Vulcan ram//////
1tb harddrive//////
Gigabyte WPKG pci WLAN card//////
The Vulcan ram above is new as was hoping new ram would solve it and also the GTX 970 is new, I had the GTX 580 before
What ive done.
Cleaned inside.
Antivirus scans etc.
Used Seagate to check harddrive.
memtest.
Updated bios/via audio driver via @bios and audio from the cd the motherboard came with.
cried.
Kept an eye on temperatures.
formatted.
changing voltages slightly higher for cpu and ram.
Changed overclocks back to stock speed.
The crash can occur 5 mins being on a game or can crash 3 hours into it, it can be fine for days/week then could crash 3 times in one night. Requires holding power button to make it work again
All details on click here

Answer:PC random crash with buzzing sound

You've tried most thing I can see. When it crashes does it just stop sometimes? I mean completely dead? I can see in your link it blue screens at times but Requires holding power button to make it work again makes me think of a failing PSU.

Apparently you are not in the right section, but this might be closely related.

Its more of a video decoding issue. Have you tried opening the video in multiple video players?

Hello guys new here. First off I have an extremely horrible, slow computer, so please dont make fun of me saying how bad my pc is, i know its horrible, eventually ill get a new one. Extremely slow. Dell inspiron 660s, core 2 duo at 2.9 ghz, 8GB of ram, and horrible intel hd graphics. I have played a few games since I got windows 10 on it, both run great at mid level graphics, world of warcraft, and euro truck simulator 2. This issue has happend before when I had windows 7, but not in a long time. Since I got windows 10, both playing wow and the truck game, in game, the computer freezes, makes a horrible buzzing sound, and cant be accessed unless i hold the power button, and reset the computer. No blue screen. Right when I restarted the pc i checked the processor temps, 90 degrees C, down to 80 degrees C. It seems the processor isnt overheating but I blew the dust out of the heat sink anyways. I tried starting euro truck simulator 2, and for such a high graphic game, I can run it at decent graphic settings with decent framerates for such a horribly slow computer. I have no dedicated GPU, and a horrible CPU, its not an I7. But 10 minutes in the truck game, the computer freezes again. Looking at the event viewer I am given a generic power kernel, which only means the computer has been unexpectedly shut off. It cant be a bad power supply because when I dont play games, I watch netflix and live tv on the computer for hours at a time, no freeze. This only happens during games. So i... Read more

This occurs sometimes several times a day, sometimes it does not happen for a few days. It first started in August after I did a fresh install of the OS (had bad malware) and updated the drivers using the CD that came with my computer (Alienware X-51). After about 2 months the problem went away but started again in February. The freeze usually happens within 5-10 minutes of starting up my computer.

Sometimes it is a BSOD and it reboots after a few seconds, usually it is just the frozen screen and buzzing noise, and does not respond to any input.

The problem happens 99% of the time during a video (Netflix) or when playing a game. This might not be meaningful, I use this computer mostly for those tasks.

I have my graphics card up to date, and have tried using Control Panel to automatically update the drivers for my various components. AFAIK I have done everything to update my computer's drivers short of using 3rd party software like DriverUpdate but I have heard that those are scams.

I have run memory diagnostic and it came back clean. I have dusted out the internal components. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Answer:Freeze + buzzing sound during Netflix and games, inconsistant.
