I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Bought 310-15ABR few days ago, and i have issue with restarting this laptop. The problem is that, whenever I click "Restart" or if Windows automatically restarts (after updates), the laptop will shutdown and boot to lenovo logo screen and stay there forever. I have to click ALT CTRL DEL to reboot it again and it will then show lenovo logo and boot into windows. This happens on every restart. Essentially restart functionality is as good as shutdown. Its better to shutdowns and then click the power on button. Here is what i have discovered:- The issue disappears if i am not logged in into my windows account. So basically if i boot into windows and dont sign in, then restart, it will restart into windows and go to login screen.- The issue pops up if i am logged in into my windows account and click the restart button, no matter how long i used the laptop Here is what i have done so far:- Reset bios to default setting - Reset windows to defaut- Installed windows from scratch using bootable USB.- Flashed the latest bios - Installed and uninstalled all the lenovo drivers- Installed a new SSD replacing the hard disk The issue hasnt resolvedNeed some help ThanksRon

Good afternoon all.  I'm hoping someone here can help me with this.  I bought this Lenovo ideapad 320-15ABR at Thanksgiving and received it at the beginning of December.  I bought it mainly so that I could use Photoshop, Microsoft Office and to watch TV/movies online.  The only things I've installed on this computer since receiving it was the Photoshop 2018 and Avast Antivirus.  I disabled the Windows Defender antivirus and I couldn't find McCaffee anywhere on my computer.  Anyway, I've used this computer to watch movies a few times now for the last several weekends and at least once during a movie (either through Netflix or Amazon Prime) I will get an error message that reads something along the lines of:  "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart."  Basically the blue screen of death.  It's incredibly frustrating because I've been happy with Lenovo products in the past.  I'm also not a huge fan of Windows 10 and while I don't blame Lenovo for the changes Microsoft keeps making, these new changes coupled with the constant blue screens of death on a brand spanking new computer have made me a very unhappy customer.  Because of the changes with Windows, I'm not familiar at all with how to troubleshoot this problem (or even where to start) to see if there is something wrong with my laptop hardware or if it's a driver error.  If I can I'd like to try to understand how to find out what... I had a virus a few days ago. I tried to delete the virus after downloading a scanner. My laptop rebooted and had a blue screen that gave me options to fix, reset to factory, etc however the keyboard wasn't working so I couldn't put in my password. The only option without the password was to reset totally so I did. After a while another screen popped up saying there was an issue with the resetting. Long story short when I reboot only the lenovo splash comes up, F2 and F12 at the bottom of the screen, and the curser in the top left corner blinks a few times and then disappears. I can't get it to boot for nothing. I am able to plug another keyboard in but now all I get is the black screen and have no options to reset. I've read that the bios is probably the issue but have not clue how to get this set back up. Won't read usb flash. Please help.

I'm trying to repair this machine for my nephew. When I turn it on, it never moves past the Lenovo splash screen. I tried the NOVO button, but it just goes to the same Lenovo screen, and just cycles off again after about 5 seconds. I don't know that much about Lenovo laptops. I've tried pushing the F2, F12, FN+F2, FN+F12 to no avail. I can't get to any BIOS options, or boot it through a boot CD. Any help will be appreciated.    Thanks!

Hey, my Lenovo s10e perpetually restarts after the Lenovo splash screen. The blinking cursor comes up for 5 seconds and then the computer restarts again. F1 for system bios or F8 for safe mode do not work. Taking out battery/AC and holding power button for 40 secs also yields no results. Computer had been working fine, when inexplicably the virtual memory shot up and the paging file had to be increased. Tried to shut down the computer but it wasn't responding, so I did so manually. I have not been able to get the computer to boot up properly since. I spoke with Lenovo on the phone and they said it was a motherboard issue, and the computer had to be sent in. Was wondering if anyone had some other possible solutions before I'm forced to ship it out. All the best,Andom

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad s10e Keeps Restarting after Splash Screen

hi Andominus, Perform One Key Recovery Option and select restore from initial back up. This wil cause full loss of data so make sure you've got a backup of it. Also, make sure that in BIOS, boot device priorities are in correct order.  Good luck!

Hi,My ideapad z500 each time stucks at "lenovo splash screen", but pressing any key will continue to boot and system will run without any issue. This problem is there almost 90% time when I restart or power on my machine. This problem is very annoying because whenever due to windows update machine restarts multiple time i have to sit there to press the key, its very painful. My BIOS version is 1.21, I have also tried resstting the BIOS by entering to BIOS setup, but issue is not resolved. This issue is not new, this was there when I bought this laptop, initially I ignored it because of workaround. . is there any solution to this problem?

Answer:Ideapad z500 (without touch) stuck at "lenovo splash screen"

I enabled startup password in BIOS to troubleshoot the problem, when I rebooted the system on BIOS password prompt appeared with continuous beep and none of the keys were working, I pressed enter and "Invalid password" pop-up came and beep stopped.Does it look like hardware problem?

i managed to fry the power in part of motherboard after water damage. but the battery part still works. i connected an old battery and it booted. i need the pinouts and voltages, etc so i can i theory connect a external power source. this would save me 200 quid on a new motherboard. this is the 2nd 310 laptop that i have broken due to water damage, so im looking for a cheap fix. im not a beginner to electronics but ive looked everywhere and cannot find a schematic or diagram. please help.

I have a new Lenovo Ideapad 310-15abr, Windows 10, 64 bit, AMD with a Radeon 7 graphics card, with a display problem. When I unplug the power (so it's on battery), the screen dims. So I went to Power Options and changed the power plan both on and off battery so the screen is at 100 percent brightness. Didn't work. Tried a Custom Plan and then went back to a High Performance plan. I turned off Adaptive brightness; disabled the Sensor Monitoring service; updated the Graphic Card driver;disabled and then enabled the Graphic Card again. Turned off Lenovo's Power Options called Power Stretch and Conservation mode.  Also updated the AMD VGA driver.  Nothing works. Still dim when on battery. One thing that I have NOT triedit is changing the registry value by using Regedit command and changing the Feature Test Control. I didn't try it for two reasons. One is that I'm not sure what to reset it to (I've seen "ffff" as the setting and something else longer and more complicated). The other reason is that I am too much of a dumbie to be messing with registry values, basically. I've seen this question asked a couple of times, but no very definitive answers. People usually just tell you to change the Power and Sleep settings so the brightness is on 100% when On Battery.  So that answer is not necessary, but ANY OTHER ANSWERS would be welcome!  Thanks -- Ken

I just purchased this new laptop a couple of days ago and love it other than one thing that is annoying the crap out of me. The screen is too dim when unplugged. It is great when plugged in, but dims quite a bit when it is not. I have the brightness at 100% for both the on battery and plugged in settings so I have no idea how they vary so much. I have it set for high performance, not power saver. The battery saver is also off. I have looked all over the internet and found no useful info.

Hi All, I'm looking to upgrade the hard drive in this laptop as it seems to be the only real bottleneck performance wise. From what I can find online only the 2.5" form factor at Sata III 6 GB/s is supported, but there is an adapter for the M.2. form factor but still at 6 GB/s. My main question is is there something I am missing and is this laptop capable of having a PCIe NVMe SSD hard drive to achieve transfer speeds of 32 GB or is it limited to Sata III 6 GB/s because the port option isn't there? - Michael

2 week old H405. Problems started immediately. Occasionally the unit fails to start, freezing on the LENOVO splash screen. No drive light or drive sound. After power cycling a few times, with a break between them, it will start up. First thought was temperature, but SpeedFan says the hottest thing in the box is 29C Any thoughts? I would also like to know how to turn off the splash screen and se the normal POST information. the instructions in the Hardware Maintenance Manual don't appear to work. Final thing. SpeedFan seems to pick up temperatures, but the voltages are messed up. What's a good hardware monitor for this motherboard? Thanks

Hi vetitice and welcome to the Community,

It sounds like you want a fairly complete monitoring tool.  Speccy always came to mind.  It should work okay for your board.

You might want to make sure the ram is seated properly and do a diagnostic on the hard drive.

Friends, I have a Lenovo Idea Pad U430 Touch (WIN 8.1 64 bit) and the touch screen seem to be having an issue. I had spoken to the Lenovo Support 4 times and spent more than 10 hours on this issue so far. The bubbles appear at the top of my laptop and the mouse pointer goes haywire. This occurs when I start my laptop, for a few minutes and also intermittent - does not happen every time I start. One support person asked me to do a factory reset and I refused as I would be losing the entire set-up and have to spend more than 10 hours restoring it back. I wanted to escalate the problem and yesterday another support person has given an idea to isolate the issue by disabling the touch screen as mentioned in this thread. I just did a Google search and looks like this is a manufacturing issue based on the posts in this thread.Contents from the thread I found in the web:  So I've uploaded this video to document the problem I'm having with my Lenovo Idea pad Z400 touch screen. Every so often, the screen would just go berserk. The video show the left hand side of my laptop with all those circles popping up as if someone if touching the screen. Well, no one is touching the screen ... the laptop is doing it all by itself. And when I try to log out, I couldn't because the mouse functions have been affected ... have to shut down the laptop by pressing the power button. Very frustrating. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znItnUW8feQ&list=UUbaNFySaNij9lqkST4SdeQQ&index=3... Read more

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad U430 Touch Screen Issue

I just would like to make the following suggestion in support of the recommendation to factory reset the unit: 1. Run OKR backup and do a user backup. Save it to folder in another drive to be sure. 2. Do the restore through OKR and select restore to initial backup. This will restore to factory default. 3. If your problem does not exist anymore then it could mean something is going on. And you can start deciding to whether to reinstall those third party programs or not. However, if the problem still exist run OKR restore but this time choose user backup and point to where you save the backup. This should put back the unit to the present condition with all your third party programs and files intact.

Hello, I have had a problem with my laptop for a while now and have only just been able to capture the issue on video. The problem started many months ago, perhaps the start of 2015. Bascially the screen flickers very badly and sometimes across the whole screen but it only happens when the main body of colour displayed is black. As you can see in the video, the second I press the windows buttton the flickering disappears. This is why I have been unsure whether or not it was my laptop hardware or software. I would appreciate it if someone knew how to fix this. Video: https://youtu.be/a3C-TzavBtg Thanks Lewis

Not details on whether this is a clean install of Win 8.1 or factory image (but I doubt it is as it sounds like an older machine).

Hey.I've got a new problem on my Lenovo Ideapad Z570, everytime I turn on my laptop, it gets stuck at Lenovo splash.Every time, I've to plugin the adapter and press the start button and when it freezes at the Lenovo splash, I plug-out then I connect it again. And when I get lucky, it continues the start-up after waiting +25 seconds freezing on the Lenovo splash and it's really too slow.at booting. - I removed/unsitalled some games and some programs.- I scanned for viruses using Malwarebytes. But none of those helped. So I tried to search on the internet and it looks like it's BIOS issue(s), but not sure. So, what's really the problem ? And how I'm able to solve it ? Thanks in advance.

Ok here's the problem, I have a Lenovo Thinkcentre M91p desktop which I was preparing to sell, first thing I wanted to do was to erase contents of hard drive first by using Derik's Drive Nuker disc however the problem started when the PC starts it doesn't show the "Lenovo" logo splash screen with the F-12 option to access BIOS, I needed to access bios so I can reboot with the dban disc to erase the hard drive when that option was not available I opened up "msconfig" and made the mistake of changing the system configuration from "Normal start up" to " Selective Startup" with only the " Use original boot configuration" option checked because I thought that would show me the splash screen on start up but, that wasn't the case.  After I did that and restarted the PC everything was horrible, not only wasn't I able to see the splash screen but, also Windows wouldn't even load.  On start up the PC doesn't show the Lenovo logo splash window, it goes straight to windows but it only shows the pre-screen that pops up before the log-in screen, the one with the background image and the time on the lower left but, that's it....if I click on that window instead of showing me the log-in window where I'm supposed to enter my password it only shows a blue screen.  Now I can't access BIOS to fix anything nor get into Windows.  I need help please! Any suggestions will be helpfu... Read more

I bought my Lenovo ideapad from a best buy in Canada at the end of August 2016, I have been having unprovoked screen issues so I called the Lenovo support number on July 24th, last week and explained the issue. They said my warranty was up and so I explained the situation and showed them the reciept that proved I bought it at the end of August, and so they rightly accepted that I was still applicable for the warranty. I was then told that within three business days they would send me a shipping box to send the laptop back to them in. It has been a week now and there is no sign of the box and no real update or explanation from Lenovo. When I check the status of my repair order online, it shows: Order status: New OrderOverall Status: in Progress which isn't very helpful because I have no idea if theyre still processing the shipping of the box, or if the box has been shipped and is just delayed or if there was an issue for some reason with sending it. Any explanation or insight would be greatly appreciated. Connor

Answer:ThinkCentre: Stuck at Lenovo splash screen after lenovo solution bios upgrade

I would try resetting the BIOS using the jumper, or by taking out the CMOS battery, wait a minute or two, and then replace it and try booting up. See page 73 of the Hardware Maintenance Manaul linked below for location of the Clear CMOS/Recovery jumper (# 20) https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/thinkcentre_pdf/m83m93p_hmm.pdf Clearing the CMOS (BIOS)1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the computer. Then, disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the computer. 2. Remove the computer cover. 3. Locate the Clear CMOS /Recovery jumper on the system board. 4. Move the jumper from the standard position (pin 1 and pin 2) to the maintenance position (pin 2 and pin 3). 5. Reinstall the computer cover and connect the power cord. 6. Turn on the computer and leave it on for approximately 10 seconds. Then, turn off the computer by holding the power switch for approximately five seconds. 7. Repeat step 1 through step 2. 8. Move the Clear CMOS /Recovery jumper back to the standard position (pin 1 and pin 2). 9. Reinstall the computer cover and connect the power cord. Good Luck,

Here is my problem and here is the solution!!!My B540 Ideacentre would not pass the Lenovo splash screen. The only operational keys I had was F1 (BIOS) and F12 (BIOS options). F2 went to a light blue screen so no chance of even a one key recovery. Warrenty had expired four and a half months ago. I contacted Lenovo and after the guy told me to try F2 twice he said it was a HDD or other hardware failure and would cost around £200 maybe and also would take about two weeks.  AT THIS POINT YOU SHOULD NOT BE ANGRY FRUSTRATED OR PANIC. REMAIN CALM AND STOP AND THINK WHAT ACTUALLY WAS HAPPENING WHEN YOU LAST USED YOUR PC. For me I remembered Windows had auto downloaded 8.1 and was asking me to install. Also my keyboard had lost shift W T Y keys. This told me that it was not a hardware issue but a software issue and perhaps from this update. My HDD was not clicking or beeping and this PC has a 2TB Seagate Barracuda which has a good reputation. Luckly for me I also have a Seagate external expansion 2TB and a 500MB expansion which was the HDD from my old HP Touchsmart which I converted into an external hard drive by buying a HDD enclosure with cooling fan and all leads from eBay for £25 and this is where the solution is. If you can create an expansion drive so easily and access the HDD then why cant I do it with the HDD from my Ideacentre and of course you can. So first unplug your PC or laptop. Next remove the cover and unclip the HDD (which is easy with the B540.... Read more

Hello. As the title says, my Ideapad Y500 is starting to have some issues. A week ago it refused to shut down. Screen would turn off but not the laptop, which would remain kind of dormant. Following some advice online I uninstalled Express Cache form the Control Panel. Now the system turns off, but I have a new problem, this time booting up.Whenever I boot up the laptop it goes to the Lenovo splash screen, then black, then resets to the splash screen and stays there forever. If I shut it down manually and then boot it up again, it goes to Windows as it should, but the whole process takes from 2 to 10 minutes. If I try to restart the system, same thing happens.  If I keep doing this I fear one day it will just die on me.Added to this, I've been getting intermitent failures of the Intel RST software, which sometimes just won't work at all. Other times it's fine. I read somewhere I should update the drivers but I don't know where to find them or if hey may harm my pc even more.I'm running Windows 8.1 (64 bits). So far, besides uninstallid Express Cache, I have run chkdsk on both disks on my system and they appear to be fine (or at least nothing comes up when running the scan). Beyond this, I have no clue how to proceed. I'm not a especially tech savvy person, so any help you guys might give me will be greatly appreciated it. Also, if you can explain it as clear and simply as possible, it would be that much better. Thanks a lot!

Had some worrying crashes recently. Backed up everything and reinstalled windows with a clean wipe with irrecoverable data, assuming it was a software issue. After reinstalling windows 8, windows update failed to go through the update process properly with various missing files being pointed out. Worrying. Carried out another clean windows install with similar results. After attempting to simply restart the laptop to confirm updates to windows updater, the laptop now no longer makes it past the lenovo boot screen. Occassionnally it will try an automatic recovery which will tell me it failed. I have tried all possible options here but they nearly always hang on various screens. Sometimes they make it back to the auto recovery failed screen but most never make it past the lenovo splash.I've tried various fixes that i've found on the forums. Many include using the Novo key to get to bios. Unfortunately this key has never done anything in the 3 years that i've owned the laptop. To make a long story short, I've been asked to help fix a friends mom's U410 laptop which wasnt activiting Windows 8.1 properly (Was Windows 8 OOB). After struggling with the activation for a few hours, I backed up the data and decided to just run the Lenovo one key recovery. During the recovery process, the installation had failed. When I attemped to reboot, no Lenovo splash screen was loading - just a black screen (although i can hear the cooling fan start, and hear the harddrive spin up. I tried to access the boot menu thru the novo button, and nothing would load; still a black screen. After researching for a few more hours, I had found multiple threads about bios updates required to be able to access bios with windows 8, and other threads about gpus on these units booting to a second screen (which i did test, and the second monitor does indicate a signal). None of the solutions on those threads have given positive results.   Basically, I've run out of options and am looking for some suggestions. The only thing that shows up on the display at anytime is the small blue novo menu when the button is pressed (normal start up, bios setup, boot menu, system recovery - all of which just leave a black screen). Thanks.

so, I just got a new laptop, cause the last HP i Had finally broke down. unfortunately it broke down before i could back up anything off the hard drive. So i found the old hard drive from my HP pavillion G7 17' notebook. the hard drive is a toshiba MQ01ABD075. The laptop originally was using windows 7 OS, but i later upgraded it to windows 10. I was wondering if i would be able to use this hard drive in my IdeaPad, without having to re-install windows 7 or 10 from a USB/ windows Disc? would it be easier to just purchase a hard drive adapter and just download everthing i need from the HD?

Hello I've got IdePad 310-15ABR from this link:http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/ie/pl/products/laptops-and-netbooks/300-series/310-15abr/80st/80st002kuk... My question is: Is it possible to use empty space of disc drive to add second drive or dvd/bluray drive or not?? I'm talking about space that's normally occupied by dvd drive but I've got model without it so wondering about this thing. It's on the right side of the laptop. Regards, Horacy.

Answer:ideapad 310-15abr is it possible to add 2nd hdd or dvd drive?

You would have to search to see if their is a adaptor available. I know I have bought a optical slot adaptor for a drive. But that was for a ThinkPad which I think has more options then the consumer line IdealPads. Probably your best bet is a big flash drive, or a external drive. But search third parties because you could possible buy the adaptor and crudely install a drive in the optical. So many optical drives are thin drives these days, so space may be a issues.

I received my IdeaPad 310-15ABR on December 1st and on December 2nd I called in a ticket and was left a little dissatisfied on the troubleshooting abilities of tech support.  I was experiencing a battery drain faster than I would expect. When unplugged I am getting maybe about 3 hours of use - this is with power saver settings activated and really only web browsing and such. No mega gaming or movies etc So when I called tech, they immedietaly told me to send back the laptop - but at my own expense which to me seems odd, why should I pay to send Lenovo my defective new machine? After getting off the phone I did my own research and found that "location" was on, so I turned it off and that bought me some time on the battery - not a lot... but enough for me to realize that I needed to test this machine out on my own for a week or two before sending it back.  So I am about to send it back, but I am wondering - how long are you getting on your battery for the same machine? I don't want to send it back if what I am getting is unfortunately the reality of what I should be getting.

I love Lenovo. Let me get this out of the way to start. I have had a Toshiba (holy crap, a terrible laptop build quality), Dell (great CS but the laptop needed a new piece of hardware about every three months. Went through at least 5 MoBos over the course of four years), then finally a Lenovo. The Lenovo was a CHAMP. I brought it everywhere and tortured it within an inch of its life and it stood the test. It stood up to ART SCHOOL, if that is not an indication of quality, I don't know what is. Hence why I bought another. And another. And now this one. I have been surprisingly gentle with this one which is why I am so aggravated by the CONSTANT grinding fan noise. This sucker is less than a year old and still in warranty. This may be fixed by a BiOS thing but considering the type of noise, I am thinking it is hardware. As the battery is sealed, I am hesitant to take this thing apart to check out the fan by hand. So, my question is: Is it possible to get a laptop bought in the USA serviced in Japan? If not, what is the part SKU for the fan so I can just install it myself? Also, a point in the direction of the BiOS/driver/whatever update that is supposed to fix this would be appreciated for the first step. And before you tell me, I know servicing my own laptop will void the warranty. I don't care. I am very good with computers and have been tearing apart and fixing laptops since I got my first one at 13. I would not date doing a fu... Read more

Answer:Lenovo G500 stuck at "lenovo splash screen"

The first thing I look at if a machine hangs at startup is the USB ports.  Physical damage can create shorts which cause these symptoms.  Check for bent pins or a tongue broken off.

Hi guys So i recently ran into a problem, when i try to boot my laptop it will hang at the lenovo splash screen and it will be like that for a long time if i dont turn it off. I tried disconnecting main battery and bios battery, it did help but when i shut it down for like 3 hours came back and turned it on back again it was stuck at splash screen again. I also noticed that when it stuck during boot and i shut it down from the power button and turn the laptop on again its booting normally. Also tried removing all usb devices and booting the laptop and it still does the same hangs at the splash screen. Please guys help. Best regards Gerard

Answer:Lenovo G500 stuck at "lenovo splash screen"

Hi Azadkv,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I?m sorry to hear that your G500 Laptop is not booting to Windows and hanging at Lenovo Logo and the issue persists even after performing Flee-Power step. Hence, I suggest to perform BIOS reset and check if the issue persists. Below are the steps to perform BIOS reset:

To access BIOS menu turn OFF the Laptop and press the NOVO button located beside power button.
Then to reset the BIOS to its defaults click on ?F9? Key and select YES.
Now click on ?F10? Key to save the changes that are done in BIOS, the computer will automatically restart.

Do post us back if the issue persists.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

Okay, so my Lenovo N580 IdeaPad with i3 processor is stuck at the splash screen, aka the black screen with Lenovo written on it in bold white letters. I tried removing the battery, then putting it back on, then pressing power button for 45 secs. I also tried pressing the the Novo button (the small round and black button besides the power button) but the screen shows no change and does not go to bios/reset menu on pressing f9/f12 too. What else can I do to get my laptop back on? Please help, all my project work is on my laptop

I bought this g510 less then a year ago without an OS.I've installed win7 first then ubuntu14.04, back when i get it.Yesterday I deleted my win7 partition and reinstalled a premium sp1 win7 version from a usb formatted as NTFS - as you might have guessed I'm booting the laptop in legaci mode. The installation got stuck and failed and i had to do a hard reset. After the hard reset the laptop won't boot and in fact it won't even pass the splash screen or respond to fn+f2 or any other shortcut to get into the bios. Even when i shut it off and press the Novo button it starts but doesn't display the blue utility menu with bios and boot options. Ive tried pressing the power button for 30 seconds witn the battery and power cable disconnected and tried to boot from usb but still nothing.I then took the hard drive out and the laptop would boot and respond to novo button and fn+f2 and i can go into bios. It would also boot from usb when the hdd is disconnected. But it dosen't matter which bios settings i change or if the bootable usb is connected, when i hook the hdd back the laptop will just get stuck on lenovo splash screen again and won't respond to Novo button or fn+12 and it won't boot from usb - i should mention it does respond to capslock or the key to make the screen black (fn+f9).I have a 1TR samsung sata hdd that seems to be perfectly fine. I don't think its the hdd or any of the hardware and the symptoms are not of defected hdd or anything else i've seen before. It 's also no... Read more

Answer:lenovo g510 stuck in lenovo splash screen

hi markwills,

Welcome to the Forums.

If using another drive works fine on the G510 then I suspect that the stock HDD is failing or has corrupt partitions.

Can you consider using a 2.5" SATA enclosure to convert the stock HDD into an external drive and try to format the drive and/or run a hardware scan on it using the following:

  - Lenovo Storage Test or
  - HD Tune.

When finished, try to insert it back on the G510 and observe.

If you get errors on the scan or if the above step is not possible, I recommend you contact warranty support on how to go about getting the unit serviced.

I've had a Lenovo y500 laptop since June 2013, and had no issues with it.  It has been a reliable laptop and I have been extremely pleased with the purchase.  However last Sunday (11/2)  I went downstairs to boot up the laptop while watching the Walking Dead and all I could get to happen was for it to show the Lenovo splash screen as the bios loads. Since then I have searched the net and have been unable to find anyone with the exact problem I had.  However a number of threads on this forum and other forums offered suggestions.  Despite all of my attempts I still cannot get it to do anything but display the black screen with the White Lenovo logo. Here are the things that I have had suggested and tried.... - Unhooked all USB devices - Lenovo Splash Screen Only- Verified that USB ports are still in good working order and not grounding against shielding- Removed Second Video Card - Lenovo Splash Screen Only- Removing the Battery and booting with power supply only - Lenovo Splash Screen Only-  Letting battery run down completely and booting from power supply only - Lenovo Splash Screen Only- Pressing the Novo Button- Lenovo Splash Screen Only- Removed Ram and Reseated - Lenovo Splash Screen Only- Removed Harddrive and Reseated - Lenovo Splash Screen Only- Removed Ram - Reseating Single Stick of Ram Each time - Lenovo Splash Screen Only- Removed Harddrive and Placed Known Good Harddrive in place - Lenovo Splash Screen Only- Removed Ram... I've had my Windows 10 Ideapad for about a month, and have had no problems with it.  This morning, when I turned it on, I got a message saying the battery needed to be charged and showed it was down to 10%.  I turned it off and plugged it in.  After 5+ hours, it will now not boot up at all.  The little light next to the plug is on and so is the one that is the system status indicator.  Aside from those 2 lights, there is nothing - no light, no sound, nada.  I tried holding the power button down for 30+ seconds - still nothing. Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated.

So before I go off and bother help and support, I just wanted to ask and see if this is the normal way my computer should be behaving.1) battery: so the battery on this isn't great, i'm usually plugged in and on low power mode just to try to make it though a single college lecture. Even just on a good day 100% to 5% (powersaver) and usiing just word, will only last about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Also, when running anything high demanding and the battery is lower than 40% not plugged in, the computer will always restart and give a kernal error and no other information. Luckily it has not been getting worse, but realistically I can only get 40 minutes of life on high performance out of this thing.2) hard drive: So not a big complaint but It says it has 1Tb hard drive space, but it only ever showed I had 891Gb on C: and 25gb on Lenovo D:not that I mind that much but I did see another complaint who said he got a small compensation when that happened to him. not that this isn't a pricy laptop to begin with and I even feel bad complaining right now when the price was so great.3) touch pad: I might be doing something wrong but these buttons on the bottom of the touch pad are just for show to me. Other than make a loud clicking noise they literally do nothing on terms of input. I just wanted to know if they are actually buttons for the touch pad? or if I'm just insane haha

Hello! My ideapad Ive had for less than 6 months isnt really turning on. I can hot the power button or Novo button and the back light turns on, but it gets stuck at a blank, black screen with a single underscore of white  (Im thinking its stuck at the wall of text that usually starts before the logo). It worked fine yesterday. I was trying to start up a game and it qouldnt load, so I just closed out and reatarted my computer. When it came back up it was just this black screen with the single white underscore. Ive tried to factory reset it every way I know how. I have accepted that Ill likely lose what I have saved and just want my laptop to turn on again. Again, it doesnt get to the logo.

Hello!I have one questionIf I keep my laptop connected to the A/C and turn the Conservation Mode on (and get fully charged to the 60%) would the laptop be consuming energy from the battery or from the AC power?I mean, I bought this laptop about 3 months ago (IDEAPAD 310-15ABR) I used to have an HP with a removable battery and since I'm almost always sitted on a desk, I kept the laptop pluged and with no battery (I removed the battery), I wanted to do the same with this one but it doesn't have a removable battery. What I would like to know is if I keep my Lenovo connected and with the coservation mode on, is it ok? would it affect the battery at some point? keeping it pluged when its fully charged means it is working with the AC power and not with the battery power? Thank you! English is not my native language, sorry!

My 4 month old IdeaPad was working fine until yesterday. While watching a TV show the screen went black and now it won't boot up. I get the Lenovo screen followed by a black screen, sometimes with an arrow pointer sometimes not.  I've tried draining the battery and pressing the power button, the only change was after the black screen it went much brighter but then nothing more. Any helpful advice would be greatly appreciated.

Answer:310-15ABR Laptop (ideapad) won't boot

On the left side of your laptop, between the combo jack and card reader, there is small button called the NOVO button (see page 6 of this manual)   With the laptop powered completely off, try pressing that button (using the tip of a pen etc.) until the laptop turns on.     If it works as expected, you laptop should load up a menu with the options to run Lenovo OneKey Recovery, enter the BIOS setup utility, or to enter the Boot menu.     If the menu loads, see if you can enter the BIOS setup utility.. and then report back.

Hi, I have had my Ideapad for about a month now and it doesnt seem to turn on. The white charging LED is on when connected to A/C and I can hear the fan come on, the screen flickers when i press the power button, but then after a minute or so everything powers down before I even make it to the lenovo or windows login screens. No sign of bios. I have read somewhere that i could try to take out the battery and start up the laptop without it, to try and clear static charge, but i'm not keen to take it all apart before I get some advice! James

Hi all I have a Lenovo Ideapad 310-15ABR and would like to replace the factory HDD with an SSD I already have, but use the HDD as a second drive put in caddy where a optical drive would be. This laptop doesn't come with an optical drive, all it has is a dummy bay / bracket. Can someone point me in the direction of a caddy that I can put the HDD into, I will also need a drive bezel too. Thanks in advance

If possible, I wish to replace the current 2 cell battery in this used model I bought, as it lasts just 2 hours. What batteries can I look for online or where could I buy ones that can replace the original in this laptop model? 175% (of original) or above capacity would be ideal.Kind Regards, monad

I just received my new IdeaPad 310 15ABR and it seems that the battery has some sort of problem because it lasts around 1h30 (or less!). This laptop was replaced because of this battery but now I think it is a problem with the IdeaPad 310 15ABR series. I was going to calibrate the battery with the aid of Lenovo Settings app, but my version (3.155.0.0) doesn't have the calibration button. How can I calibrate the battery within this version?

I bought an ideapad 310-15ABR 4 months ago brand new and within less than 2 months it died on me completely. I then received another brand new one for a replacement a week later. Now it has been another 2 months and I am having problems with this one as well! Around 2 times a week it will suddenly reset on its own while I am using it with no warning. No updates are occuring and it is always charged. No idea what is going on but I have lost several things I was doing because of it. Wondering now if I need another replacement or just a refund to buy a better brand. If anyone knows what is causing this I would appreciate the assistance. Needless to say though I am not very impressed with the Lenovo brand after this. My first and almost definitely last Lenovo purchase...

The on page 7 of the user's guide that came with my new laptop it says that my Ideapad 320-15ABR, "supports USB 3.1 (Gen1, Output 5V ds, 0.9A DC)".  I purchased a SanDisk Ultra Type-C 3.1 flash drive.  However, when I tested the drive it did not perform any better than a Type-A 3.0.  The attached photo shows the results of benchmark tests on both drives.ATTO Disk Benchmark results I also did some crude tests by moving large files to both drives and clocking the time it took to transfer the file.  Transfer time to and from both drives was about equal. I called Lenovo Technial Support and spoke with John.  I gave him this information and, after a minute or so, he told me that my laptop did not have USB 3.1 and that the documentation was wrong. I find this hard to believe.  So my question is does the Lenovo Ideapad 320-15ABR support USB 3.1? Thanks in advance for any replies.

When I connect the charger, the battery is always connected but not charging, even if the conservation mode is turned off. I also installed energy management once and it worked but then when I tried to install it again it opens a command prompt window for a few seconds without running the same commands. How can I fix it? I'm waiting for your answer.Thank you

I'm having a problem with my laptop restarting randomly of late. It's been ongoing for the past several weeks. Recently, my computer updated to the latest version of Windows 10. (Version 1709) I can't recall if it occurred prior to that. I believe this has started after that. But before that update, I did have to factory reset my computer in Novemeber after a failed graphics driver update. It's not an issue I can trigger. It could happen shortly after stating up the computer, or it could occur after many hours being on. I did a hardware scan through the Lenovo Vantage app, and everything came up okay aside from the motherboard scan, which failed on the USB test. (Result code: WMB008008-UN7VDL) My computer is up-to date with the latest updates according to Lenovo Vantage and Windows Update. Anyway, this is a very annoying issue. So any help that can be offered to resolve it is very appreicated.

Turn it back on a little later, now it's stuck at the LENOVO splash screen, won't boot no matter what I do

Answer:LENOVO Y2P stuck at Lenovo Splash Screen

Do you have a Windows 8 or 7 recovery media? If so, boot to that, enter advance options and do a system restore or boot fix (boot fix is your last option if using a Windows 7 recovery img). This might fix the boot but, the okr system is broken for good unless you purchase recovery disks.

I have to hold it for few seconds to force system to turn off but it won't turn off normally on a normal short press. At least, it does turn on the computer though. I've set both battery and plugged in action for power button to "shut down", it is not "do nothing". All driver updated. Everything is up to date. What is the problem?

Answer:lenovo y70-70 splash on the screen

Hi Alex88sx22cm,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

You may check how the display is on another monitor.
Turn off the machine and power on using the novo button (page 62) to access the BIOS set up screen and compare the screen.

If you have the same distorted display in the BIOS screen but show fine on an external monitor then probably LCD /cable may be the issue and would be best attended with your local service center.

Update us how it goes.

i recently upgraded my y50-70 from win8.1 to win 10 when i got the notification telling me it was all ready to go.the update succesfully completed without any issues, and since i had few things on my laptop it was pretty quick.i downloaded then the win10 compatible drivers for my laptop model page on the lenovo website and installed them successfully but here things go horribly wrong. (ps, win10 had successfully authenticated and downloaded all the windows updates needed).i hit reboot after installing the updates and since then i never saw the desktop again. the laptop keeps hanging on the lenovo splash screen with the loading dots, never makes it to windows or to any login page. the power cord led stays on even if the pc is not connected via ac. the only way to exit this situation is by force shutdown with the power button. the only alternative is the novo button wich starts up the pc and gives me access to the bios, boot and recovery menu (onekey backup).these things DID NOT solve the problem:-resetting bios (no effect)-repairing windows (no effect)-rollback to win8.1 (rollback fails and reverts to win10 again)-recover with onekey backup image (fails to recover)-reset windows + keep files and apps (no effect)-reset windows + delete all files and apps (no effect)-reset to factory settings (no effect) basically everything i've done had no effect whatsoever. i had a usb drive with ubuntu on it and i tried to boot with that to see if something was wrong within the windows ... So a few days ago I was watching Netflix and then my computer crashed, turned it back on and no problem. A few hours later it crashes again but this time when I turn it back on it gets stucks on the Lenovo start up screen with the dots going in a circle. I did some research and only thing I found was to restore my laptop. Of course wasn't smart and didn't make backups so I had to restore from Initial. At first it worked and first thing i did was update back to windows 10 (over night becuase at that point it was 2 am) and then proceed to install steam (and a few games), Skype, discord, chrome, 7zip, teamspeak and avast nothing suspicious or anything. But after I would say around 7 hours the desktop starts crashing and bugging out so I reset my computer 2-3 times and then eventually I get to just a black screen with just a cursor. Couldn't find a working solution so once again I factory data reset it. Then I got stuck on the Lenovo start up screen some times seeing  just the spinning dots. Tried resetting again and no change.  When on the Lenovo screen came up some times I would just see spinning dots, sometime It would say "automatic restoration" or something along those lines and "diagnosing your pc".

Answer:G50-45 stuck on Lenovo splash screen

Seems like all the restart probably corrupted the hard drive. You can try performing a Lenovo OneKey recovery. To do this, press and hold the 'Novo' button on your computer. You may need a paper chip to be able to press it. Then, you should have an option for recovery

I am trying to add a pci-e raid card to have a mirrored hard drive set up.  To set up the card, you need to press F4 at the appropriate time during the boot process.  Unfortunately, all you see is the LENOVO bios splash screen.  Four tech calls and 3 hours of time and still absolutely no where.  I need to see the bios boot process and there is no option in the bios to accomplish this task.  Help!!

I have a black screen w/ a cursor on boot attempt on my s10 It goes past the bios and shows the Lenovo logo, but then goes to black screen with a cursor.  Same result with and without an external CD drive attached, but with the external drive, it does try to boot from the drive (succeeded once, nothing since then) F2 / F12 do not work w/ or w/o external cd drive, w/ or w/o HD installed  (original HD is not available to try the "proper shutdown" cure) Additional memory chip is removed to eliminate that possibility I?ve read hundreds of the S10 forum posts and tried the power drain procedures, etc Other ideas? thanks

Hi ronlith2,

Welcome to the Lenovo Community Forums.  Hope I can provide help with your issue.

It appears that the system goes past POST, however as you mentioned you are not able to access the system bios (via F2) nor the one time boot menu (F12).

Try reseating RAM which you may have already done. Since you mentioned that F2 and F12 does not respond with or without the HD installed. As an additional option, you may want to try plugging in an external USB keyboard, as the F2 and F12 keys does not seem to be responding. Try an external USB keyboard and see if it works.

Hope this points you to the right direction.

Had a user call saying their computer wouldn't turn on.  Got there and it was stuck at the lenovo splash screen as soon as it boots.  I've brought it back and have tried nearly everything.  There are no POST codes while it boots up either.  The following troubleshooting steps have been taken:Reseated RAMRemoved 1 stick of RAMRemoved both sticks of RAM (I get the no RAM sequence of beeps)Disconnected HDDDisconnected Disk DriveDisconnected both drives at the same time.Reseated all power connections on moboPulled out CMOS batteryHeld Power Button while power was unplugged and battery was removedI don't know if there's any more steps other than getting a new motherboard.  I know you can update the BIOS with a USB or CD.  But if I can't even get past that screen is it possible for me to flash or update my BIOS?  This is pretty much the screen i'm getting.  Nothing else other than "lenovo".  This is not my picture though, as I have an M82 here.

Answer:M82 won't get past black lenovo splash screen

Did you do a CMOS reset (move the CMOS jumper)?    See the BIOS update failure recovery procedure in the HMM.   I suggest you do the full BIOS recovery process.

Answer:G510 stuck on Lenovo splash screen

hi oferpaster,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Just to verify, do you have any external peripherals connected to the PC (eg. USB Flashdrive, 3TB external drive, etc.)?

If you have external drives connected to the PC, can you temporarily disconnect them and ensure that the HDD is set as the first boot device in the BIOS and observe.

If you don't have any external device connected to the machine, I would consider running a hardware scan on the PC as soon as you're able to boot up into Windows.

Check this link (see Quick Tests):
Lenovo Diagnostic Solutions

If you get any error(s) on the test(s), you may need to contact lenovo and report the issue as you may need to send the unit for service.

Regards

Hi everyone. I've got a big problem with my laptop. I will explain the whole situation.  I recently upgrade my laptop with a Samsung Evo ssd and a 8 Gb ram ddr3 1600. At the beginning everything was fine but then, sometimes I got screen problems (like flickering) and windows 10 crashed. Now the biggest problem : my laptop is stuck at lenovo logo with loading dots. Even if I try to load USB windows tool (to install new os) it doesn't work. I also tried to install Ubuntu unsuccessfully. I searched on the web all the possible solutions. I temporary removed the battery, ac adapter and hold the power button for 30 secs, but nothing. I also read to remove the cmos battery but I can't locate it in my IdeaPad z500. I also searched on the hardware maintainance pdf but there is nothing about that. I also removed ssd and new ram  with old components but it's still the same. I don't know what to do know, please help me!! I hope I didn't screw my laptop

Hi I am new to this community, so I would like to applogise if I mist a simillar subject (I did check some but non resolved my problem). I have a thinkpad t420, I bought a used one. It worked great, and I bought it from a friend, that I trust. I installed a ssd drive, was usnig Linux, and everything worked for one month. But then I bought a HDD caddy, and replaced the CD rom. After that my thinkpad worked for a day (although it didnt recognize the second HDD). The next day I tried searching BIOS for some settings, and after restarting my laptop it was stuck on Lenovo splash screen, rebooting in a loop. I tried:- removing and replacing the caddy with the CD rom,- replacing my SSD drive,- replacing RAM (both slots),- reseting BIOS,- running a diagnostic CD (but it will not boot, neither can I boot from an USB) My google search showed that it could bi a problem with one of the USB pins inside of one of the ports (short circuit or something like that), but I could not finde any damage. So I am thinkig that the motherboard could be damaged, but I can access BIOS, but that is the only thing I can do with it. I would be wery thenkful for any advice or help, before I go to an official Lenovo service for help. Thnak you! Z.

Answer:T420 stuck on Lenovo splash screen

Hi Zjaz123456,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with not booting to OS on your ThinkPad T420.
Is both HDD &SSD detecting in BIOS?

Check with removing CMOS battery, make sure you have disconnected the system from AC adapter and battery is removed.

Remove both the drive & battery from the system, disconnect the power adapter. Press and hold the power button for 15 to 20 sec perform this step for 2 to 3 times and then connect only the drive which is having OS installed in it. Use only power adapter to switch ON the system.

Hope this helps. Do post us back for further assistance!

Best regards,
Hemanth Kumar

My laptop was fine was except AMD Radeon card keep being disable due to unsign drivers. My aunt reads that edit the registry can fix it though I tell her do not do this. She then restarts and we reach the splash screen, get the loading wheel, which stays long. Then it reaches a blue screen that tells it have a problem and collecting info and restart. It will do this repeatedly.  I can access BIOS, but I read f8 or shift + F8 can take me to an advance options where I can reset or even factory reset, but it will not do anything. How can I please reset, even if it must be factory reset/ Or if I can somehow get past this, the registry is save so I may load the back up.

Hello kind people of the lenovo forums,  Let me share my struggle first so you may appreciate my desperation for an answer a little more. Hopefully someone has an answer to my problem and is kind enough to spread some knowledge. So the problem started when one day I tried turning on my laptop from a hibernation and the computer got stuck on the lenovo splash screen with the loading wheel spinning around. I thought it was weird but thought nothing of it at first and tried restarting, no luck tried multiple more times, even taking out the battery so on and so forth.. nothing. So after many failed attempts at troubleshooting I managed to get into the bios and checked all the settings, made sure i was booting from the right drive and restarted the computer. Well now my problems got worse, now I was stuck on the lenovo splash screen without any spinning wheel or glimpse off hope like it was loading or something. Just the lenovo logo blaring at me in its white on black glory. I could not access the bios or any menus.. hours.. no days of troubleshooting with no luck... So now I'm thinking i have to clear the cmos because this has got to be a bios issue seeing as i can't boot anything or even access the boot menu. Do some googleing, NOOO.. the cmos battery is not easily accessible and on top of that it's soldered to the board. My warranty is already over, and paying some dude to tear apart my laptop is out of the question. So now I'm comin... Read more

I was trying to remedy the "plugged in but not charging" problem, clicked on something in the power section in a screen that came up after clicking on the power icon, and the screen went blank. I tried re-starting. I removed the battery and AC and held the power button for 30s. No change. When I power up, everything seems normal until the Lenovo splash screen comes up, the spinny dots start going, then the screen goes blank and stays blank. If I pull the AC, the screen  blinks on for 0.1 second before the machine dies. HELP!

I have a PC that keeps every few days going to splash screen with (normal/safe mode/safe mode with networking). I shut PC down properly but every few days comes up to that some days have to go into safe mode first before I can go into regular mode. I reformed think possible windows problem but issue persists unplugged all cards tested ram thats good. I was thinking maybe HDD any one have any other ideas?

Answer:Windows Splash Screen Issue

IT sounds as if the PC isnt shutting dow properly. You may go thru the start menu and all that but it sounds as if the shut down gets interupted. Does it have a option in there for Start Windows Normally? If so that is the case.

Hi,

On this new pc i have built, the Windows splash screen comes up with just 'starting windows' and then instead of the flag animation it hangs there for at least 20-30 seconds until it starts loading up. (Barely any HDD activity while its hanging). Ive used a MSI mobo that ive never used before, cant say its great quaility but i am really unsure what would cause this.

Windows was installed fine, the HDD was fully wiped pre and all drivers have been installed (Except latest bios i think).

Any suggestions?

Hi All,

I'm new to the site and hope someone can help with what I think is an unusual problem. I am a newbie computer technician and to learn I prefer to work things out as a process of elimination, however on this occasion I am stumped with my own spare pc. I hope you can help me please.........

The initial problem was My Pc is stuck at the boot up xp splash screen stage where the logo appears but the timer just stays in a state of loading. A problem I have seen many times before and rectified by using the recovery tool initially. I have popped in the original xp disc and attempted to boot from there. The bios picks up my dvd drive and the drive whirs when I click to boot from disk. It then states please press any key to boot from disk. This is where it fails and returns to start windows normally screen and a 25 second countdown which I have to endure in its entirety before returning to the xp splashscreen and its perpetual loading cycle. I have tried a different xp disk and the same issue thus eliminating a problem with the disk itself.

So I put the HD and the DVD drive in my main PC to test. The hard drive did the same loading phase but I was able to boot from dvd fine and I fixed the problem and was back into xp. When I put the HD back into my other machine to my horror the same thing happened, just loading over and over the xp splash screen. So I put a spare HD with xp pre loaded into the spare machine and exactly the same problem again. I have tested all... Read more

When I start up my Lenovo Yoga 910, I don't seem to have an issue.  As in, it starts quickly, the computer seems to work fine.  However, the splash screen is messed up somehow.  I've searched online for a solution but can't seem to find anybody else that is having the problem. Here is what it looks like: I tried updating the bios, but I am on the latest version.  I really don't want to try and do a factory restart.

Hi, I've been working on replacing the Lenovo splash screen on my E570 using the BIOS update, as described on another thread.  I made a jpg file 270 x 640, 22K and named it logo.jpg in the driver/flash folder.  When I run Winuptp.exe, it reads the new logo, runs through the whole process of installing BIOS 1.88 - but then the lenovo image still comes up. Thanks for any advice!

Hi guys, I'm dealing with a problem which is currently (but I sincerely hope, not permanently) rendering my G700 useless. When I attempt to boot my PC it freezes at the Lenovo splash screen. I've waited ample amount of time but nothing appears to happen. One time I waited and managed to get into a Windows troubleshooting menu where I attempted to wipe the PC and start fresh, but this also froze at the lenovo screen soon after. Pressing the Novo button gives me 4 options but it appears to freeze, not allowing me to scroll through the options, or press enter. If I remove the harddrive it tells me to insert media and press OK, but once again, it appears to freeze as pressing enter doesn't do anything. I've tried booting from a USB stick but can't seem to get into any setting which would allow me to do this.I Removed DVD drive as I read on this forum that it was an issue with different Lenovo laptops, and since I don't use it anyway, decided to give it a go, but unfortunately nothing changed :-( If any kind soul could advise me with what I could possibly do, it be would be greatly appreciated as I'm dreading the thought of having to purchase a new laptop. Thanks :-)
