Would a Surface Tablet work to project a drawing in the classroom that I would draw on the tablet?

Question: Would a Surface Tablet work to project a drawing in the classroom that I would draw on the tablet?

I have a projector that I use to project things from my computer, but I have no way to show a drawing process.

Preferred Solution: Would a Surface Tablet work to project a drawing in the classroom that I would draw on the tablet?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm thinking about getting a Surface Book, and one huge thing that would sway me would be if I could use it with the screen attached "backwards", folded flat, as a drawing tablet, using it with an external keyboard and mouse for input, and an external screen for extra UI real-estate. (With Windows still in "PC mode", not "table mode").
Thanks!

Hi,
I'm going to be doing some presentations and teaching online. I'm using Team Viewer 9 running on Windows 7 as my software. I would like to be able to have the equivalent to a whiteboard visible to the participants.
For a demonstration of the sort of thing I want to do see
where the presenter draws circles etc. He doesn't do any handwriting in the YouTube video (but he does in the actual presentation at CBT nuggets)
I'm total newbie when it comes to tablets, but a tablet that allows drawing direct on the tablet and simultaneous display on a Windows monitor. I know that the presentation on You Tube was done with various Wacom devices. Intuos4, Cintiq monitor, or more recently, Cintiq Companion tablet. (I tweeted the presenter Shawn Powers). These devices are a bit beyond my budget. Is there a cheaper alternative? Sadly the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 is not yest available in Australia (where I am) - I'm not sure if it's a possible answer, but I'm assuming it would be. Is there anything else that's not going to mean I have to take out a mortgage on my house?
Thanks in advance for your help.
cheers,
Bernard

Answer:Drawing on a tablet with simultaneous display on the tablet and a Windows PC

I assume you mean you want to use an app on a standard tablet such as a Nexus 7 or IPad and stream the tablet screen content to a monitor or TV?
Maybe something like this is needed

I am looking for a program, preferably freeware, that is similar to Painter Classic. I used to use that program, but flaws in the program have rendered it unusable. Support for pressure sensitivity and the 'eraser' on the stylus would be ideal.

My Wacom Graphire 3 6x8 tablet has been acting funny and I don't know why. It is 3 years old and out of warranty. It will select everything- even when I am not selecting anything- and won't unselect until I left-click with the mouse (the regular mouse, not the one that came with the tablet. I never use that), and sometimes it just won't work at all. I've tried adjusting the sensitivity and it didn't help. If I change it to make it less sensitive, then it doesn't work at all. I tried uninstalling the driver and installing a new one, and that didn't help either. I even tried going back to an old driver, and that didn't help either. And finally, I did a virus check, spyware checks, and defragged my hard drive, and also uninstalled and reinstalled Word, which seems to be where it's having the most problems (although every program is affected; I use it with everything, way more than I use the mouse), and nothing has done any good. I looked all over the Wacom website for help and the only thing I found in the FAQs that might be similar said to contact Wacom about "recalibrating the tablet". However, it only covers the more expensive Intuos tablets, not the Graphire tablets. I'm out of ideas and getting upset. My Wacom tablet is my very favorite piece of hardware; I simply can't get by without it, and it's not like I can afford another one!I emailed Wacom and have not heard back yet. :-?

I am a newish user of Painter X, a very good graphics program. I use 2 digital drawing tablets. Both work when using a mouse (very, VERY clumsy trying to draw with a mouse!) I have two drawing tablets - both produce the same symptom: both styluses ( styli?) work for a very short time before giving up and demanding a new battery.
I don't want to buy yet another tablet, as both are working well when they DO work, but does anyone know of an independent stylus that will last a bit longer, or even a way round the problem?

Ok, I'll try to keep this fairly short and understandable...

So I got a new computer thrown together, and upgrade from my last one, and everything has been working fairly well. Ran into a few problems here and there, as there can be with computers built from scratch, but there is this one thing that isn't making any sense to me.

I've been busy re-installing all of the programs that I like to use, like Photoshop CS2, and I am trying to install my Hanvon 5*6 drawing tablet.

Now, I thought everything would be fine and dandy, seeing as all my other USB ports were working just fine, considering that I was able to transfer files from a flash drive and portable hard drive, but when I plugged in my tablet, an annoying bubble keeps popping up over and over and over again saying that the "USB Device is not Recognized" and all this nonsense about the device has malfunctioned.

I know well that my tablet is working just fine, because I plugged it into my brother's computer and it found the tablet like it should and installed it and worked just fine after installing the drivers.... So, why should my computer not recognize the tablet ether?

In short, my computer refuses to recognize my tablet, but it can use other things, like portable hard drives, flash drives, and my keyboard, just fine without complaining, (Note that my tablet fine works on other computers) and I have the tablet drivers installed and everything.

Anyone have a solution to this problem... Read more

My children love to draw on the PC, they use paint, but this can be a bit restrictive, not always a bad thing though, I got TUX paint (very simplistic) and Art attack Digital, bit clumsy, so the kids end up back using paint!Does anyone have any idea's on other drawin/painting software and what about a drawing tablet, they use the mouse but I think a drawing tablet would give them more control, again any idea's on this. Thanks in advance for any input.

Hello all!I have a simple (if impossible) issue.I usually use a Genius drawing tablet to draw things. (Specifically, this one: http://www.geniusnet.com/wSite/ct?xItem=16834&ctNode=174&mp=1  )I recently bought a Chromebook as a replacement for my old laptop. Is there a way to use my Genius tablet on my Chromebook? It is pnp but it seems it doesn't work on my 'book (plug it in, and nothing happens, using the pen on the tablet does nothing).Would I be better asking Genius directly? They don't have drivers for the CB on their site. Thanks for any help!

I recently got the Lenovo Yoga 3 laptop computer, slim design version. Since beginning to use it, I have tried to use my Wacom Bamboo tablet on at least three separate occasions, with the same result every time. Technically speaking, it connects just fine. I have no problems getting the laptop to recognize the device. The problem starts when I, well. Try to actually use it. My tablet pen, while it is detected, is fidgety at best. Whilst trying to move the cursor about, the movement is staggered, the cursor essentially "jumping" along along the path I'm trying to pull it along with my tablet pen. Sometimes it's even worse and the cursor spazzes out, flinging itself across the screen in every direction.

What is going on here? Is it a system issue or has my Bamboo tablet just plain had it? It is on the old side, for one thing.

If it IS the laptop itself, are there any drawing tablets that work properly on this laptop type?

Hello everybody, first of all i'm new in this forum and this is my first post and my english is not the best

I recently installed Vista ultimate x64 (previously i used xp sp2 ) because i upgraded to 4gb of ram and xp doesn't recognize more than 3gb of ram.

I'm a digital artist and i heavily use graphic tablet ( Genius MousePen 8x6 ) for drawing in Photoshop CS3. I found x64 drivers for the tablet and i installed them and everything appeared to be ok.

But when i draw for example a simple line, there is a delay to appear the line on screen. I mean delay in miliseconds, but is very annoying and it makes difficult to draw.

In XP this was not happens, the line appeared in real time.

I noticed when i plug the tablet that there is an annoying window called "Tablet PC Input Panel", this could be the problem ? If yes how do i disable it ?

Or perhaps a hardware problem ? my cpu is Core 2 Quad q6600.

Thanx in advance!

HELP! I have a really old tablet and a really new computer, and they aren't playing well together. I have a Windows 10 HP desktop computer and a Wacom GD-0912-R tablet with a Serial D9 to USB adapter I bought from Amazon. Everything seemed to be plugging in alright and the little light on the top of the tablet is on, but it won't work. It responds to the pen touching it, but nothing happens onscreen. The newest driver I can find is for Windows 7. Is there a trick to get it to work? PLEASE HELP!

Answer:Help! Windows 10 trouble with a reeeally old drawing tablet!

I think your out of luck on this one. That device was brought to market in 1998 (18yrs ago). There are no drivers for windows 10 and this device. The device is nolonger supported, which means no one will be creating a new device driver. Sorry time to recycle.

Let me preface this with the fact that this is my first post and that I am new. I've scoured the WWW for fixes to this issue and nothing has worked. I'm hoping to find something that will, and I'm willing to retry what I've already done at others' suggestion; sometimes it works better the second (or third, or fourth, or seventy-second) time.

Alright, so basically, I have an out-dated but wonderful tablet I purchased from MonoPrice a year or two ago. It's based on a Huion design, if I'm not mistaken, and worked great with the drivers I picked up from the MonoPrice website when I purchased the product... on Windows 7.

Those drivers have since been taken down; evidently MonoPrice decided to get rid of a lot of their legacy driver support.

Now, on my updated Windows 10 PC, I plug the device in, it loads up its driver, and the thing works alright for general use as a Mouse and works phenomenally in Windows Ink Sketchpad and stickies and whatever else (full pressure sensitivity, pixel recognition, etc.).. but as soon as I open Photoshop or Paint Tool SAI or any other actually useful art software, it either works as though I'm using just a standard mouse or completely bugs my pointer out.

The Tablet is a WA60 Pen Tablet.

I'm running Windows 10 Pro.

I have literally tried every single thing I can think of. I've had two computer technicians try different things, I've contacted Monoprice support, and nothing is working.

I recently (within the last week) bought a Monoprice MP1060-HA60 (PID 6814) graphics drawing tablet. The pressure sensitivity works but after an undetermined amount of time (can be anywhere from a few seconds to 10 minutes) the tablet stops controlling the mouse. The light on the tablet still lights up when the pen makes contact. I'm wondering if anyone else in the community has had this issue and found something that works?

I've tried the following:
- Installing the drivers from the CD. Uninstalled and reinstalled several times.
- Installing the drivers from the website. Uninstalled and reinstalled several times. There are two versions.

- Installing the Legacy drivers from the UC-Logic website (this worked for a few seconds before causing the tablet to freeze.) Uninstalled and reinstalled several times.
- Installing Photoshop CC 32-bit (since I run a 64-bit system.) Nope.
- Installed an older version of Photoshop (CS6). Works for a few minutes before stopping.

- Tried running Photoshop 64-bit and 32-bit both in compatibility mode with the tablet. Nope.
- Tried messing with all of the settings, nope.
- If I go into Brush Preferences > Shape Dynamics, there is an exclamation mark by the "pressure sensitivity" setting saying that Photoshop needs a pressure-sensitive tab... Read more

Hi there,

I'm not sure if this is a hardware problem or not.
A friend of mine just got a new drawing tablet to replace her old one and she's having a problem now where if she opens a program to work with the tablet, for example Photoshop, the laptop will register the tablet as a mouse. Also Photoshop will sometimes crash on initializing. She has tried other art programs and the tablet is still acting as a mouse in those, so the Photoshop crash issue might not be related.

Sometimes the laptop will recognize the tablet properly, sometimes it won't. She tried reinstalling the tablet's drivers and it worked for a day or two and then started acting funny again. Even after a reboot or two.

Here's all the information I have:

She's using the tablet in the same usb port as the old one, she believes.
The new tablet is a Intuos 2 graphics tablet.
The old tablet I believe was also a Wacom much like the new one. (she still has the old one btw)
She's using a bamboo create pen on the new tablet.
She hasn't tried cleaning her registry yet.
She hasn't tried using the tablet in a different usb port.
Her laptop is an Acer Aspire AS7741Z-4815
All USB ports are reporting to be up to date and functioning fine.
We're thinking it's either the new tablet itself or the usb port it's in. I'm thinking it's not a physical connection issue because the laptop doesn't display a new connection message when the tablet starts ... Read more

I just this morning installed my drawing tablet on this computer and I got this error about 5 minutes into using it. That's the short story.

The long story, however, is that this is my 13th BSOD since I installed a new HD into this laptop and reinstalled the version of Win7 I had. The difference is that this BSOD is the first one I've got that's not a 7A error and that's actually created a dumpfile. It's something of a revelation for me, but it doesn't appear to be at all related to the BSODs I've been suffering to date. Basically, I don't think this means that my old BSODs will suddenly be making dumpfiles for me too. I am curious whether there might be something in the attached dumpfile zip that tells me more than just the basics of what caused this particular BSOD and might help explain my others. That's for someone who know what they're looking at to determine though. For now, it would be helpful to get a solution to this specific BSOD and then I can work on the BSODs that have been bothering me until now.

Here's a link to my original thread addressing all the BSODs I've suffered previously if that info is of interest to anyone and could perhaps help here...

Hello,I am considering buying a ThinkPad X Series Tablet however I am not sure how well it will work with CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4. I normally use a drawing tablet with Corel for both vectored artwork and photo editing however I feel it would be nice to be able to use the pen right on the screen instead of drawing or editing on a tablet off to the side which means watching both the screen and tablet at once. Anyone have any experience with Thinkpad X tablet with Corel draw? Thank youKimberly

Answer:Before Buying Question - Corel Draw with ThinkPad X Series Tablet

if corel supports tablet input from a wacom drawing tablet (ie: intuos3, bamboo, etc.) then it will also work with an X-series tablet.   you might need to install wacom tablet drivers to gain pressure sensitivity and tilt functionality though. i used photoshop with my former X61T using wacom drivers and it worked great.

I always have the magnifier tool enabled on Windows 10 Home 64-bit, and the white touch borders (which are usually supposed to be there for a touch screen) only appear upon opening the magnifying glass. When I move my mouse, they disappear.

However, when I start using my drawing tablet (Huion 1409), it is always present on the screen. It wasn't doing this at first, but now it suddenly has this problem as soon as the pen touches the tablet. It will immediately appear and not leave until I remove the pen.

I want to get rid of these white touch borders from appearing at all (because they weren't doing that at first, I'm not even using a touch screen), can someone please help me do this? Thank you.

Question: Surface tablet

My dad gave me his Surface (I think it's 1st generation) & it has Windows 8.1 on it. I want to do a Factory Reset so I can truly make it mine.
I am planning to use a Local Account & know I won't have access to OneDrive (not a big deal for me) but what else do I miss out on?
When I do the Factory Reset, will it reset using 8.1 & do I need a Product Key?

I sent an email to a few online computing magazines, but only 1 has emailed me back so far & the person was not much help.

Answer:Surface tablet

Here's a few tutorials for you to look over,

Local account, the differences are listed in the blue box at the top,

Local Account - Switch to in Windows 8

This will help you with the product key,

Product Key - Find for Windows 8

Here's a couple options for reset or refresh,

Reset Windows 8

Refresh Windows 8

In case you need to get a fresh image,

Surface Recovery Image - Download from Microsoft

If it came with 8 and upgraded to 8.1 I would guess it will reset to 8 if using the built in feature.

You might have the RT version on that so you will have to follow those options.

I think if you have any specific questions you would be better asking them here,

Windows 8 Forums

Or in the tutorials I linked.

I really like what they are presenting, and would love to get my hands on a surface tablet. However, I am a person that will be sitting on the couch using this device, and think for comfort in that sense I am still leaning more towards an ultrabook.

After some reading & exploring, I did the Factory Reset & everything went smoothly. The tablet was reset using 8.1 & no Product/ID Key was needed. I did make a Microsoft Account, because from what I can tell, I cannot download from the Store w/o one.
So the Microsoft Account is setup as Administrator & will seldom be used (I don't like using an Administrator Account for daily use). I did make a Standard Account which is also the Local Account & this seems to be working just fine.

But I do have another question: while using my Standard Local Account & searching the Store, if I try to install any of the Apps, I get the message screen below. If I put in my password, would my Standard Local Account become a Microsoft Account or will I then be given the choice to use the Microsoft Account I already have?

Good evening, everyone. Forgive me if this isn't the right subforum, but this one had more results pertaining N-series IdeaPads than the other one I considered posting in. I own a rebranded UC-Logic drawing tablet that used to work wonderfully with my old Windows 7 laptop. Now I have a brand new laptop, a Lenovo Ideapad N580, that came right from Best Buy with Windows 8 installed. Even with the Windows 8 driver from the tablet manufacturer's website, I encounter a problem: the built-in keyboard becomes totally unresponsive. No normal typing, no Ctrl-Z, no Windows key functions, no nothing. When the driver's uninstalled, my keyboard resumes working as normal. I noticed this happening right after the recent Win8 update, but I am not sure if that's related or not to the problem I'm having. The tablet itself works as it should, pressure sensitivity and all in Photoshop CS6 and etc., but the keyboard doesn't work when the tablet driver's installed. I'm at a loss as to what to do, and wonder if anyone here has any ideas.

Answer:IdeaPad N580 - Windows 8 - Keyboard stops working when external drawing tablet driver is installed

Hi morgb,

Thanks for posting and welcome to the Lenovo Community,

I?d like to help you with the issue that you?re facing,

But maybe the problem that the machine needs a driver installed for this tablet to be able to recognize it,

If you can contact the manufacture of the tablet to ask for a driver for windows 8.

Thanks and Regards,

Soha

If you're using a microsoft account to login you could try to reset the password via the website and try again. But you have to ensure that your surface has an internet connection.

I have a Surface Tablet Running Win10.
Problem Is, I must Find the MODEL NUMBER!

Everybody I ask says everthing you need is under the "KICKSTAND"!

It IS NOT! The only thing there is the windows Logo & under it is 128GB the serial number 022838544753!

How do I find out the Model number from the serial number?

Tully

Answer:Surface Tablet- Win10

Run msinfo32.exe on your Surface Pro. This will produce a display like this:

As you can see, the "System Model" line in this output gives you that information; Surface Pro 3 in the case of my test machine.

Also, when I switch on my surface I have o bold down the on button for 30seconds, or my tablet wont come on. I'm confused, can anyone help?

Hello,
One issue that keeps me from purchasing a Surface Pro 3 is the absence of a stylus note taking app that suits my needs. OneNote has many amazing features, but the deal-breaker is the absence of a continuous scrolling page with visible page breaks (similar to Microsoft Word, or like the Android app called Lecture Notes). Instead, OneNote insists on separate individual pages which is extremely inefficient for me (as many times I need to see the previous page while I am working on the beginning of a new page). I found that many people have complained about the absence of this simple feature (which is available on simpler programs such as Windows Journal).

So I'm asking is there some alternative to OneNote that can accomplish this on Windows 8/Surface Pro 3? I have searched extensively but have not found something viable. Maybe someone here has suggestion?

It counts as a PC license. That may change with the introduction of a touch-optimized version of Office.

Hello all,

I have a Surface Pro tablet with Windows 8.1 on it, and any time I try to switch from my default printer to another network printer in a program Excel, Word, Outlook, Notepad, etc, it will freeze up and takes a few minutes to switch printers - however, it does switch eventually.
Default printer is USB (Brother), the second is IP based(Konica-Minolta w/ Fiery server).

I have tested this on another Surface with the same software installed, same Windows updates, and same drivers for both printers and I do not have an issue on the second Surface.

Looking for ideas or suggestions or people that have had simliar issues.
Please let me know if more details are needed.

Thanks,

Hello,
I expose here a personal case to choose my new computer. I actually use my Son?s Surface Book having previously sold my Surface Pro4 thinking it would be a good option for my uses.
But the Surface Pro?s size is the perfect one for me, so is the new Spectre X2 a better choice?
I used to open at the same time Outlook to have access to my emails, pdf files opened in Edge for plans reading, AutoCAD Viewer to consult other plans, Drawboard for modifying plans with the stylus and Skype to videoconference about all this with my business partners. I also want the tablet to drive an external screen to see all that stuff together at the same time like the ZenScreen 15.6 from Asus, are tablets able to power this?
I previously thought that a Core i5 and 8gb where sufficient but I really don?t like to waste time so do you think Core i7 with 16gb will drive all this together more fluently?
I live in New Caledonia, a French island/Territory, without any strong after sale service so I will buy my gear from Sydney Australia. I already experiment Sydney Microsoft Store for my Pro4 and they where perfect. HP is really less expensive but can I trust them through a reseller for a very quick service, is Spectre as reliable, maybe Elite X2 G2?
What about the instant on capability of each, dose the stylus feels natural, I find the actual Microsoft Surface Pro4 pen improvable?

Hi all,

I have a used Widows Surface tablet that I got off of my friend who never really used it much. It's an older model (says Model 1516 on the back) but it's in great shape and has been reformatted back to factory settings.

The System Info page is showing Windows RT 8.1 as the OS.

When I run Windows Update, I get a list of about 60 updates that need to install. When I try to install them, they look like they're working, but then they undo the install and present me with the message, "Some updates were not installed. Error(s) found: Code 8024200D."

It does this whether I update all at once, or if I try to run each update separately. I've tried rebooting the system, I've tried running the updates one at a time, I've tried running the DISM which I read to do online. I just can't get any updates to install.

I did get a CBS logfile from the DISM, and there are "errors" in the log, but I have no idea how to go about addressing them. I tried to attach that file here, but it says the filesize is too large. the CBS log is about 50mb. I can break it into smaller chunks, or copy/paste relevant bits if anyone thinks it can help.

Please let me know!

Thanks,
Joe

Microsoft has confirmed that it will start selling the Windows 8 Surface tablets manufactured by itself, on the same day that Windows 8 will be launched, viz. October 26, 20012. The next version of our operating system, Windows 8, will be generally available on October 26, 2012. At that time, we will begin selling the Surface, a series of Microsoft-designed and manufactured hardware devices, says Microsoft. It has also stated there that, "In addition, our Surface devices will compete with products made by our OEM partners, which may affect their commitment to our platform."
The Surface RT (ARM) tablets would be available right away, whereas the Surface Pro (Intel) tablets are expected to be launched in December.

Answer:Surface Tablet availability confirmed on 26th Oct

I'm not sure on the RT tablets. Not sure how big of a market the applications are going to be. The Pro model with the Intel CPU already has a huge library of applications (all current Windows applications). I'm going to skip the RT model this time, and look into the Pro model after the first of the year.

We are using some Surface 3 tablets for commercial kiosks and are having several with BSOD lock-ups occurring every few days.  I went through a similar post (
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-update/driverpowerstatefailure-0x9f-acpisys/fd27f53b-0455-4f9f-9fe6-aea965d5fe9e?auth=1)
and captured the latest MEMORY.DMP with the output below.

The Surface 3 has all the latest updates through 2/28/2016 including several firmware and hardware updates.  It would be more acceptable if the tablet would actually reboot after this happens, but I left it for 8 hours and it was still stuck
on the BSOD.  I had to hold the power button for 10 seconds to turn off the tablet and reboot.  FYI,  System protection and Automatically reboot is enabled.

Interesting point, that just before it occurred, the tablet came out of sleep maybe 2 minutes prior and the touch screen input went non-responsive, including the Windows Home Key, though I could still navigate with a USB attached keyboard.

What I want to know is...  is there anything else I should be looking for to hunt this down and isolate the problem? Right now it appears to be an issue with the kernel-mode driver and possible the IntelSST sound hardware?

A Swedish website has listed Microsoft Surface Tablet among products available for pre-order. Assuming a conversion rate of 1000 SEK = 143 USD, the costs work out APPROXIMATELY as follows:
Windows RT with 1 GB RAM and 32 GB of flash memory costs $999. The one with 64 GB of flash memory, costs $1428.
The Windows 8 Pro tablet 64 GB version will cost $1857, while the 128 GB flash version costs about $2143. Even if the prices are indicative and may vary from country to country, it looks quite expensive ... if it is true ...

My aunt just lost her Dell Inspiron Duo. She has used it for over 3 years.
Now she asking me for help to find a new tablet PC with good design and under $500. I'm kinda in trouble with finding some windows 8.1 tablet PC to review and examine because in my country those are not in good selling.
My aunt only needs web browser, MS Office, and 3rd party Vietnamese IME (Which can't be use on RT version). So she doesn't need a core i tablet PC. We have seen an Asus T100 and it really has a cheap design, she doesn't like it. The hard thing is... She already seen my Surface Pro 2 and really love the surface design language. Of course I can choose Surface RT or 2 and I can root WinRT to make it run exe format files but it will not get any update in the future => not suitable for long term use.
TL;DR: My aunt want an alternative Surface tablet with good design and under $500.
Please leave a comment and give me some advices :( I appreciate it.

Answer:Need an alternative Surface tablet with good design!!!

You cannot root RT and expect it to run x86 exes. It simply won't work. A few would run like .net applications IIRC, but the vast majority would simply not.
Thankfully her needs are modest and fits well with this price range, but the need for surface design does not.
The original Surface Pro can be had for $500, so that's something.
Dell has some solid, but not very Surface-y Venue tablets, and the previous gen Latitude 10 (which may be found for cheap used)
The thing is, I don't know if what you're looking for is available in that price range. 8" tablets are a major option down there, but you may need to push the budget or look into used/refurbished/last-gen hardware.

Team,
Hi people, Can anyone here please let me know if I have created Windows 10 1511 golden image for Surface Pro 4 and other HP workstations with the below process:
1. Run the Surface Pro 4 and then update it to the latest using the Windows Update.
2. When all update has been installed, I checked the version is Windows 10 Professional 10.10586.164
3. I've mounted SW_DVD5_WIN_ENT_10_1511_64BIT_English_MLF_X20-82288.ISO file and then perform the upgrade to Windows 10 Professional 10.10586.164 succesfully.
4. when everything is set, I'm creating the MDT golden image by using the Sysprep (Generalize).
Does this method is the correct way to create the Windows 10 for mass deployment ? Because the SFC scannow command result always shows as corrupted in those workstations I've deployed.
In March 2016, I have deployed to about 15 Surface Tablets and 5 laptops so far using the above method, now I wonder if it is the correct way of doing it or not ?

Thanks in advance,

Yep. Windows RT limits executable downloads to store apps only. True anti-virus programs exist only on desktop platforms. So if you see an anti-virus app on the Windows Store, it must be fake. As for browsers, there are alternatives but none are as powerful as the built in Internet Explorer.

Hello,
I currently own a Surface Pro 3 i7 model. I love it, but I would like a smaller more portable device. What are the best options out there? What would give me my biggest bang for my dollar?
Thanks!

Answer:Vote for the Best Windows 8 Tablet, excluding the Surface Lines

I put in both Dell Venue's.
Now my reasoning:
I hold them as one of the better bang-for-buck deals in both their respective fields. I'd be reluctant to compare an 8" tablet to something larger however.
The Venue 8 Pro has good battery life and I often see it available for lower prices, new, secondhand, or refurbished/open box. That is my perception however, it could be outdated though. It has an active digitizer, so while not Wacom tech, its been fixed up since launch. Dont know if I'd be willing to draw with it though. Still a solid device. It definitely has its own quirks though.
If you want a Wacom digitizer, the Vivotab Note 8 is a fine option though. I find most 8" tablets to be similar under the hood with smaller differences between them.
The 11 Pro is my vote for bang-for-buck in the larger sector. I could say it fits in as a "poor man's Surface Pro" but its more defined than just a cheaper Surface. Starts at the cheapest Bay-Trail model and goes up to an Core i7 processor. (dont know how well it'll stack up against the Surface Pro 3's i7.) The choice of a laptop-esque dock, an imitation type cover, a user-replaceable battery (big one for me) etc. and it still doesn't cost as much, although the accessories aren't exactly cheap and it doesn't feel or look quite as nice. (IMHO)
Other options to consider are the Lenovo Miix tablets, and the ThinkPad 10. Don't know about bang-for-buck but other ones are worth a look.
Another thing is last gen tablets. While CloverTrail Ato... Read more

I've had a few posts about looking for a secondary tablet to go with my Surface Pro. I love my Pro but seems l settle down for tablet mode, the battery is low and I am tethered to the wall. I did consider a Surface RT for consumption only but want the luxury of full Windows in the event I need it. I did see where Amazon has the Lenovo Lynx with Windows 8 for only $349, same price as the 32GB Surface RT. Hello, I would like to know if the outer clear part that goes on top of the screen is the same on the tablet as on the non tablet, or does the tablet have a different surface because of the pen.  I ask because as this is not supplied with replacement screens and I need this part also as its cracked.  I have seen a whole screen assembly for sale which is off the non tablet version so was hoping this would be suitable, of course I would swap over the wacom digitizer from the rear of the broken screen. Can these be ordered separately? if so is there a part number? Thanks.

The multitouch version of the tablet is certainly different. The outer "glass" is actually the capacitive discharge digitizer (finger touch). Pen-touch is handled by a different digitized behind the LCD panel

Since the Surface Pro line is a two in one, and because my MacBook Pro died three months ago, I am really considering selling my iPad Air and switching to the Surface Pro line (4, or whatever comes next) to use it as a tablet for simple streaming, and media and also as a full PC for editing documents, presentations and taking notes + playing Xbox One on its screen when I am in a place with no TV (or TV being used by others).
I would like to know how the Surface Pro functions as a tablet so I really wish if you guys tell me your main opinion about it, and if possible also answer the following questions:
1. Can the tablet be kept on 24/7 for like a year (as in locked screen / standby mode). Like a typical tablet? How is the battery in such case?
2. While in standby / screen locked mode. Does it have support for Push notifications and will I actually hear a notification sound? Like a notification for email, Facebook. Also most importantly calls from Skype / Viber contacts?
3. Is an antivirus required or should I just depend on Windows Defender + Malwarebytes? I already have a Norton Security for 5 devices license but I am worried this might slow it down (I am targeting the i7, 16 GB RAM model because I won't be upgrading before it literally dies, just like my 2012 Mac)

It is going to need a new digitizer/screen combo then. You can seek qualified repair or try to Do It Yourself.

I suggest you watch one or more videos a few times before deciding if you want to go the DIY route. It will save you money, but it is like performing surgery on your device.

I had a surface 2, and I downloaded the onedrive desktop app, not the metro app. I did this to save some space when I download pictures, and documents to directly upload it to onedrive.
One thing I noticed is that I wasn't able to save anymore images after linking my onedrive to my surface. Did it download every single file on onedrive to my surface? I don't understand this part. I thought images and documents only worked as links, but they actually show as files when I go to C:/onedrive
Now I have surfpro3, Im concerned about downloading onedrive desktop app because it might do this again.

Answer:please explain onedrive on surface tablets? does it download all the files to my tablet?

Onedrive is built-into Windows 8.1, there is no need to download an application to get started.
Open File Explorer and in the navigation panel (That's the left side where documents, pictures and download folders are kept) you will see Onedrive, you can store your files here and it will activate the service.
What you maybe seeing is the online only files, they are just there to show you whats on your Onedrive. You can store them on both the surface and Onedrive by having the item download and it will sync with Onedrive if there have been changes made.

The Atom x7 has some pretty impressive benchmarks compared to the Z series ones you're going to find in other tablets. It's actually surprisingly close to the Core M processors you're finding on newer ultrabooks and the new "revolutionary" MacBook.
So yes it should stand out a decent amount. :D

I have a Surface Pro 4 with the Surface Dock hooked to an external monitor (via DisplayPort) and a keyboard & mouse.

When I close the type cover on the Surface, it automatically activates Tablet Mode. Now, I know I can change the behavior to make Windows 10 ask me what to before switching modes, but until I switched to using a dock and external monitor, I've never needed/wanted Windows 10 to ask me! It always "did the right thing" with the Surface, correctly responding to the type cover be attached, detached, or folded back.

How can I tell Windows 10 or the Surface to NOT activate tablet mode when the type cover is closed?
Thanks,
Jim

Answer:Surface Pro 4: closing type cover activates tablet mode

Hi Jim....open Settings, type Tablet in find a setting box.....click on "tablet mode settings"....see attachment.
If that doesn't work change top box to "use desktop mode" when you sign in.

Agreed to the free windows 10 update, it got stuck on 71% (91% searching for files) for 4 hours so I did a soft reset (30 seconds top button). It turned back on, showed the surface logo, flashed the outline of a box then goes to a loading screen of 'attempting to recover installation' and stayed like that for 2+hours then overnight. Have done soft and two button resets since, keeps on going back to that screen, no cursor and no responsiveness. I do not want to hard reset as I have a lot of data that has not been backed up on there (silly me) but I had no idea that W10 was having such issues. any advice would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

Hi,
I am a surface user. When in desktop mode, I don't want tiles on my start menu so I have unpinned them all and dragged the start menu all the way in to be one simple column. When in tablet mode however, I would like tiles on my start menu.
Currently when making changes to the desktop start menu, this seems to automatically make the same changes to the tablet view, and now it is completely blank. Is there any way I can have no tiles in desktop mode but tiles as normal on my start menu in tablet mode?
I feel this is also important for other people who may want to have more business-like apps pinned in desktop start, but games and social media in tablet start. Hope I've explained it ok.

Just got this, and did a clean install of Windows 10 Pro. Installed all drivers, nothing funky in Device Manager, but the touchscreen and the pen are not working. Click on Pen Tablet Properties in Control panel and it tells me Supported Tablet Not Found on the System. This is my first time dealing with one of these, and am lost.  Lenovo Thinkpad X220 TabletIntel i7-2640M(2.8GHz)8GB RAM, 250GB Solid State Drive12.5in 1366x768 Multitouch LCDIntel HD GraphicsIntel 802.11agnBluetooth1Gb EthernetUltraNav, Secure Chip,Fingerprint reader, Camera

Hi all, I have recently upgraded to windows 7 (64bit) and now when I  put my tablet into tablet mode, the screen doesn't autorotate and none of the tablet buttons work. In order to rotate the screen I have to right click on the desktop and choose graphic properties/rotation.Interestingly if I press the tablet buttons while in tablet mode and then rotate the screen up to notepad mode within a few seconds the button will perform its function (rotate screen, activate tablet shortcut menu, etc). Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I've tried running system update (4.0) to no avail. Cheers

I have a Tablet drawing monitor, and today the pen stopped working, I fiddled with it for a while, I tried uninstalling the drivers for the Hardware and reinstalling, but then I noticed that the Tablet Settings and Calibration Options you normally see in Control Panel are mysteriously gone. After maybe 2 hrs of googling I've given up,. there's very little on google, and now im considering doing a "Rest This PC." Any help would be appreciated.

(I've just tried "preview post" several times and each time it's stripped the whitespace and turned my ten paragraphs into a megaparagraph. I'm going to try pressing "submit new thread" and hope it doesn't do it this time.)

Hello
My Wacom tablet's pen has died and I hope to have a new one arriving in a few days but in the meantime I dug out an old Hanvon Rollick tablet which isn't supported under Windows 10 (which I use) but I nevertheless found some Windows 7 drivers for it which people reported working under Windows 10.

The problem is my PC is trying to behave like a tablet e.g. putting that blue teardrop thing on text boxes on Chrome (I'm not sure of its correct name) and when I try to ctrl-click a link, it shows a little "ctrl" label under the cursor and won't open the link in a new tab like it's supposed to and just does it in the same tab.

It takes multiple tries to right-click and open a link and when I hover over the link the cursor keeps rapidly flashing between the arrow and finger icons.

It is very difficult to click minimise, restore or close on Chrome because hovering over them doesn't make them go red and clicking on them doesn't tend to make them do anything unless you try many, many times. It's being profoundly irritating in programs other than Chrome too but those are some examples.

I was used to old my Wacom (Volito 2) trying to do tablet-like things but stopped it doing bubbles with gpedit's "turn off pen feedbac... Read more

Hello. We've got an unusual problem when applying driverpackage for lenovo x201.OSD with SCCM 2007.. The Audio driver installs successfully during OSD (with silent install switch) and in devicemanager we can see that the conexant 20585 Smart Audio HD driver has been installed. Same with "Intel screen audio". But in the Audio options in controlpanel all the fields is grayed out. There is with other words no associated soundcard / standard device. If we install the driver again, logged in as an user the recently grayed out fields in Audio options automagically now shows the correct input / output devices (Conexant audio) and the sound starts working. Is there some issue when installing drivers in SYSTEM context?Notice: There is no "?" in device manager. BR!

Greetings, My system is i7 Multitouch X230t. It was working fine from last 2 months till today when while turning my screen from laptop to Tablet configuration the touch and pen function suddenly disappeared. When trying to access the Pen and Tablet setting it gives an error " A supported tablet not found on the system".Also at the same time i noted that in my device manager a USB device is now labeled as Unknown device. I searched the net and tried everything.  Restarting. - No effectUninstalling the unknown USB device and restarting - No effectUpdating all lenovo drivers from the lenovo Site - No effect System Recovery to an earlier Date (15 days) - No effect When i Tried to update Lenovo Multitouch/pen driver from lenovo site it give error " A supported tablet not found on the system" and aborts installing the driver. I uninstalled the wacom driver ISDdrivers.exe from windows Uninstall utility and again tried to install Multitouch and pen drivers but again it says " A supported tablet not found on the system". Someone please help. I am afraid it might be a hardware issue as the problem started when i turned the screen from laptop to tablet mode. Currently My X230t is just a Laptop and NOT a TABLET as there is NO touch and NO pen input, as if windows doesn't even recognize any tablet hardware on board. PLEASE HELP. Thankyou

Answer:Help: X230t " A supported tablet not found on the system" Problem. Its not a tablet anymore

Perhaps the cable got severed when you were turning it around? I've had a Wifi antenna cable break this way on an HP tablet... If it's still under warranty have them check it and replace it if necessary. It could also be a loose connector but there's no way to be sure without opening the screen assembly.
