ThinkCentre M78 2114 SFF external PCI-E DVI display adapter Dell Sil 1364a - Is it even supported?

Question: ThinkCentre M78 2114 SFF external PCI-E DVI display adapter Dell Sil 1364a - Is it even supported?

Hi everybody! I purchased Lenovo M78 2114 SFF ADM A8-5500B APU with Radeon 7560 HD IGFX. What im struggling to do is to get this adapter to work. I used it before on my previous PC without issues. I have connected adapter to pci-e slot on motherboard, opend BIOS/Video Settings and i set IGD as primary and enable surround view...no luck. tried setting every device as primary but nothing. Device Manager also show nothing not even Uknown Device. Where to get drivers for this adapter (pictures below) or is it unsupported and what I'm doing for last two days is just waste of time. Sorry for my English...learning all my life. Regards!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

We have a ThinkCentre 300K tower and has been working fine for over a year. All of a sudden the monitor would display "not receiving RGB signal and will shut off". I have tried to restart the computer and in the middle of the boot up it will start off fine and jump to "no signal" on the monitor. When I boot the computer in safe mode it does not do this; however, in safe mode the screen images are completely out of proportion and is very large. While in safe mode I went to the Device Manger and under display adapters if has listed: Intel (R) G45 / G43 Express Chipset. I right clicked on this and disabled the adapter. After doing this the computer would boot in its normal startup mode; however, the screen is still distorted. I have uninstalled display adapters and have reinstalled them from the website and then I have the same issue all over again. Clearly the monitor, cable, and computer are working and it appears it is a software issue, but I am unable to figure it out. Any help in this matter would be appreciated. Thank You.

I downloaded the demo for driv3r from http://www.gamershell.com/download_8798.shtml, and installed it. Now when ever I run the game I get this message!!! Failed to create DirectX. No supported display adapter present. I'm pretty annoyed seeing as the day before I bought it over Amazon and was waiting for it arrive and now i'm thinking it might not work! I've tried looking in the (rightclickdesktop > Propeties > Settings > Advanced > Adaptor > Properties > Driver > Update Driver) but the auto install (recommended) said i had the latest version!
Please help!

Answer:Failed to create DirectX. No supported display adapter present.

No supported display adapter present

It means your particular video-adapter is not supported by that particular game. The adapter lacks some of the required specifications needed for that game to run.

If it's a desktop PC, you need to install a better video card which has the required specifications.
The required specifications should be on that game developer's website. For starters, the card must support 3D.

Trying to connect my laptop to an Apple 30" cinema display that has a resolution of 2560 x 1600. I have seen a post saying the spectre can only support up to 1900x1200 However, I have seen another reference saying that the Intel 5500 can support in excess of the resolution I need to run the Cinema Display. Can you please advise, so I know which direction to go on an external monitor connection. thanks

I found some contradictory posts where one dell representative  said that the XPS laptop could only output to 1080p while  a different dell representative said that it could support up to 2560x1600, not sure if models differ on those posts though. Intel HD 4400 claims that with a 4rth generation U series processor can support resolutions up to 3840x2160 at 30Hz with Display Port 1.2.
What is the maximum supported resolution via mini Display Port for Dell XPS 9333 (i7 4510U, Intel HD 4400)?
Can a docking station like D3100 support higher resolutions like 4k on this model?

Any information would be very helpful, thank you!

I have a Dell XPS 13 laptop running Windows 10. I have just purchased a Dell U2515H monitor which I am waiting for delivery for as we speak. I believe the monitor has quiet a few inputs however I am not 100% sure which lead to get to connect them both and which port I use on the Dell Laptop. Looking on the left hand side of my laptop there is a port with a lightning sign next to it, is that called Thunderbolt? and is that my monitor/display port? and what lead do I need? it looks like some sort of micro socket!

Hey everyone, it's been a long time since I've had to ask anything on these forums, but I'm glad they're still here when I need them! I've done some looking into the problem, and it seems like there aren't many resources on my problem.

I'm trying to connect my television to my laptop, via an SVideo connection. The problem is, my graphics card does not, and CAN NOT, have its factory/updated drivers installed. The graphics card is currently being run under "Standard VGA graphics adapter" drivers.

(The reason I can't put drivers on the card is because it's fried. I'm suffering from a burnt-out, defective NVidia GeForce 8600M GS, like many other people, and I'm mired down in court documents that I'll be using against HP in small claims court.)

Are there another set of drivers I could try that would allow my laptop to use an external display?
Is there a way to set up an external monitor under standard VGA graphics adapter drivers?

hello if you are using ECC-memory and it works, 2GB will be the max. but if you use ddr2 sdram then 4GB is indicated as max. (i have an A52 were 4GB is the max. BUT, the BIOS (i have installed the newest BIOS-version avalaible) recently only identify 3GB > as usable, done of technical limitations! inpropper work, then the IBM-pc-doctor-application have found the 4th GB with complete identification and without any problem! The screen is shot on this machine --I have a USB to VGA adapter, but can't get it to activate.  Because I have no screen I can't go through the typical Driver install .... is there a way to force the system to boot to the USB Display adaptor? thx in advance!

Answer:Booting/CMOS Setup using external USB Display Adapter

Hi there @DMillerassociat, Welcome back to the HP Support Forums! I understand that you are looking for a way to use a display connected using a USB display adapter as your boot display.  I am happy to give you a hand with this. I do not believe that this is currently possible, for several reasons. First the system BIOS would need the ability to recognize the USB port connection as a standard video connection. You would almost certainly need to either disable or disconnect your existing built in display, and you would also need the drivers that make a USB video adapter  work installed.  If the BIOS does not recognize the device as a valid video device  inherently you will never get a display, when you need to get into the BIOS setup. I hope this makes sense, and if it does answer your question, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

Answer:Thinkcentre E73 sff's motherboard supported cpu upgrades?

Copied (and edited) from another thread, but applies to your system:

Other ThinkCentre owners have had decent success upgrading to specific processors that had been installed at the factory during it's entire lifecycle.   (Update to the latest BIOS before any hardware or OS upgrade enough ahead of time to ensure the BIOS is good)

A good indicator of whether a processor upgrade can work is to Google your system type and 4-digit model number (for example 'Edge 71, 1578'), if you find a matching system with a processor that you are interested in using, then on 2 browser pages with Lenovo support, input the full 7-digit model numbers to both systems, go to the BIOS download page, and if they have the exact same BIOS filename, then there's high confidence that motherboards and related technology is the same/compatible, and the other processor will work in your system.

I did that after I found the 1578-L4U system on Google.  And I have high confidence that a i5-2500S will work.   Specifically that 'S' processor.   Because one i5-2500 variant works, does not mean others will, unless they are able to go through the above process as well.   'K's are not used by Lenovo on ThinkCentres, and I doubt they will work.

A Lenovo motherboard is not like a Asus or Gigabyte where you can install any processor that will work with the installed Chipset.

I am using a usb-c to hdmi adapter to output to a TV but the black levels look washed out. I had no issues with the same TV and a previous laptop that had a dedicated hdmi port. In the intel graphics settings usually there is a "quantization range" setting to change color space between RGB Limited and RGB Full if the intel graphics is driving the hdmi port. However, in this case, there is no hdmi port but instead a usb-c to hdmi adapter, thus the quantization range setting is missing. I've had the same issue before on a previous laptop with usb-c. I've tried installing thel atest drivers, including the non-validated ones from the intel website, but none give me the quantization range setting.

I have tested with several of our brand new M910g i7 16GB RAM, 250GB SSD - Only to find that multiple adapters are not supported, and or function?  I tested with multiple monitors and multiple cables.  I just need a dual monitor setup! I am not able to use more than one VGA to DisplayPort adapter!?!?   If I add a second adapter it seems to display the desktop for a split second then go black, display the desktop for a split second, then goes black again... over and over again...  I also tried adding the second monitor with HDMI to vga - I was presented with a black screen only.  Windows sees that there is a display connected, but is unable to use it. I also patched all bios and firmware releases available - NOT resolved.  This is a serious issue, as it is not always an option to replace all of the monitors because the computer does not support VGA & DVI...  Any guidance - aside from using a flaky USB to vga/dvi adapter is greatly appreciated!

So I was hoping to be able to add a second monitor with my Dell Inspiron, but I didn't have an extra monitor just lying around, so I was hoping to be able to use my old laptop for the same purpose. I tried hooking up the two computers with an HDMI cable, but there was no response. I'm fairly certain that the issue lies in the Inspiron's Display Adapter, which uses the Intel graphics card instead of the Nvidia one that is also installed. Is there some way to change the display adapter that the computer uses?
Or, if I'm just completely wrong about what's causing my problem, is there something else that could be making it so that my two laptops won't connect via HDMI?

I am using the VGA port of a Dell 4-in-1 adapter (DA100) to connect my XPS 13 with touch screen display to a Dell U2412M monitor. The Intel HD Graphics Control Panel does not detect that there is an external monitor attached to the computer, i.e., the Graphics Options menu does not show the "Output To" option, the Graphics Properties' Display menu shows only "Built-in Display" under the Select Display tab, etc. The DA100 was installed remotely by Dell Support (after neither I nor they could find the driver on the Dell support website, as instructed to do by the software driver download guide that comes with the adapter), so I assume that it was installed correctly. Has anyone else experienced this problem and, hopefully, have a solution?

I have an older Lenovo all-in-one that's reaching the end of it's tolerable life. It's slow, limited upgrades, only supports one small hard drive. But I love the all-in-one form factor. I see the newer iteration ThinkCentre M910z supports SSD for the primary (horrah!) and includes a second 2.5" hard drive bay. What I can't find is what the largest supported storage size is. Can it support a 4TB-5TB drive like the Seagate BarraCuda ST4000 and ST4000? My goal is to have a SSD for OS and apps, big 2nd drive for archiving large video as opposed to having to have an external USB drive perpetually tethered like with my current all-in-one.

I use a XPS 9350 for about a year now. Its a certified refurbished with core i7, 16 GB and 512GB SSD.
I had an issue with usb C adapter tha has a lan port, HDMI port and usb 3 port. When I detach and reattach the adapter with laptop power on I almost always loose the external monitor (extended desktop mode) display. Display properties showed that cant detect the external display. the external monitor also goes to idle state. I need to turn off / restart laptop several times to get the external display on, sometimes for a whole day it did not come back at all.
I found a work around, when this happens go to display properties and change the "Extended desktop mode" to "Duplicate the display" mode and the apply, the other monitors get back to normal. you can reapply the Extended mode afterwards and it works fine.
I use kwmobile usb c hub.
I hope this post also help someone else. It s pity that a fine laptop has so much issues still to be addressed. (Auto wake up is killing me!!)

Hey, I recently had to re-install Windows due to some issues stemming from the aftermath of a virus and the subsequent removal. I honestly don't know how it came about, but it's behind me now as I've installed my new Vista on my laptop.

I went through the normal installation of drivers and have had no problems except for two issues, my video drivers/display adapters.

When I check the Device Manager there's exclamation points next to the Display Adapter > Standard VGA Graphics Adapter and Other Devices > Video Controller.

I tried to install the ATI M92 Driver I need from Dell's driver site, installed it smoothly, and scanned for hardware changes. Windows picked up a new hardware and tried to install it, I obviously didnt have the CD so I directed it to where I installed the ATI M92 driver at, under Program Files > ATI. That didn't work and the hard drive installation failed.

Has anyone encountered this problem before? I need to know how to resolve the problems in both my Display Adapter > Standard VGA Graphics Adapter and Other Devices > Video Controller issues. Please help Sad , I'm trying to get my screen resolution past a 1024x768.

Thanks, Darrin.

Hello together, I connected my Lenovo T400 via VGA to a Dell 2709, my operating system is Win7 64bit. The connection basically works, but not with the highest (and recommended) resolution of 1920x1200 pixels. When choosing this resolution, the whole screen is moved about 2 centimetres to the right. It is not squeezed, but just moved. When opening a full-screen-window, two centimetres are missing at the right margin. Via my catalysist drivers and OSD I can move the screen about 0.5 centimetres to the left, but still 1.5 centimetres are missing. This part of the display is just black. There is no difference if choosing extended display or external display only, the screen is always moved to the right. When using lower resolutions, the screen is centred correctly and filled correctly. I am using the recent Catalyst 12.1, my Win7 is updated. Thanks!_Heiko_

Answer:T400 external display problems (with Dell 2709)

I just checked on which resolutions the VGA-connection works properly. The problem (screen moved to the right) appears with all settings beyond 1280*1024 pixels. With my "normal" desktop computer the 2709 display works fine. _Heiko_

When I connect my Dell XPS 13 9350 laptop with QHD display to an external monitor through the DA200 USB-C to HDMI connector the external monitors flicker constantly (laptop is fine-no flickering). Sometimes it works for like an hour then starts to flicker or longer so its not consistent. Below are the troubleshooting steps Dell has walked me through (including sending me a new DA200 part) to no avail:
- Dell has sent me a new DA200 USB C to HDMI part
- They have upgraded the Thunderbolt drivers and all other relevant drivers to latest ones (as of June 15 2016)
- I have tried on different monitors (5-6) and tried different HDMI cables.
Dell doesnt seem to know what to do now. THey have refunded my DA200 part purchase and told me to buy a separate HDMI to USB-C cable to test. If that fails it seems they will replace the motherboard. They say it could be an issue with the external monitors not being compatible with QHD, but this is not documented anywhere (they admit) and I havent heard anyone else having this problem on the internet and surprised every single person using this setup has QHD external monitors. This is an unworkable situation for me as I work in PC labs all day connected to external monitors.
Any advice?

Hello, I just purchased this i5759-8836SLV (Windows 10) laptop that produces a very poor display on an external HD monitor (HP 22VC) when connecting via the HDMI port. It has an integrated Intel Graphics 520 and an AMD Radeon R5 M335 (4GB) dedicated graphics card.
The contrast ratio is very poor and the colours are dull when comparing to the laptop screen, with both displays set to 1920 x 1080 resolution.
I have switched HDMI cables and even monitors, with the same results. When I attach the same monitor to a different Dell laptop, the display works just fine. The image is very crisp and the colours are very bright and default factory setiings.
I have downloaded and installed the latest drivers, tried adjusting both monitor and graphics software settings without much success, the display still doesn't look as sharp and bright.
I have tried explaining the issue to Dell tech support, but without much success. The believe it is a monitor issue, as the laptop's built in display is working fine.

I have a Dell XPS 13, model 9350 (released Fall 2015), with the matte 1080p display (non-touch).  It has the new USB-C / Thunderbolt 3 port to connect to external monitors.  It requires an adapter to connect the USB-C port to HDMI inputs on external monitors
I have purchased two different USB-C to HDMI adapters and have tried connecting both to my relatively new LG LA6900 1080p HDTV as well as an older 1080p computer monitor, both with HDMI inputs.  Regardless of which adapter or external display I use, the colors come out washed out with very poor contrast when I export to the displays.  Regular greens and blues become neon, the whites are so bright they wash out all detail, browns are a light yellow, etc.  In general, the contrast and colors are so off that the external displays are pretty much unusable.
I have used both of these monitors as external displays for several other laptops with no problems.  I never have to adjust the monitors’ settings or the computers’ settings.  With the Dell, I have tried every imaginable adjustment on the monitors.  I have also used Windows 10’s color calibration tool.  I have also played around with the display driver’s settings. I also tried using several different HDMI cables. NOTHING fixes the bad contrast and washed out colors.
By process of elimination I know, therefore, that the problem lies in the Dell.  I have spent hours on the phone with Dell tech support.&... Read more

Answer:Dell XPS 13 9350 improper contrast / colors via HDMI on external display

Regarding the notebook, am I correct in understanding that the color problem only appears on your two external monitors and not on the LCD of the notebook itself? If this is correct then I don’t suggest reinstalling video drivers, if the LCD has a good display the drivers aren’t going to be the problem.
Have you tried other connections than thunderbolt to HDMI? Does the TV and monitor have Display port, standard VGA or DVI connections that you can try different Adapters with?  I certainly understand how you may not have these extra adapters lying around but if possible, this may be a way to see if it’s a problem with the type of adapters you are using, or a problem with any type of adapters.  You mentioned you have tested both displays on other notebooks, where you using thunderbolt to HDMI adapters on these other notebooks?
I mention power options on a lot of my posts but with notebooks you can’t emphasize it enough, I certainly suggest testing with the AC adapter connected to the notebook, and the Windows Power options plan set to High Performance and check to see if that makes a difference.
I don’t know if I suggest a service right now, especially if I am correct in understanding that the image on the LCD is fine but it may eventually be something to try. I will shoot you a DM to get your information if this turns out to be a suitable option.

I have exactly the same issue. Can you please advice me. I have the latest xps 13 9350 with qhd screen. Laptop's screen works just fine, but the external screen looks very ugly. Basically the same problem as described by the topic starter.

Answer:RE: Dell XPS 13 9350 improper contrast / colors via HDMI on external display

Yuriy,
Please reply with the brand and model of LCDs that you have tested with the notebook and please include what resolutions that you are trying with the notebook and I may be able to help.

I have dell vostro 14 3000 series, Recently laptop screen is gone black. I can see the external display working fine. I did run BIST, It completed successfully and able to see the colors on the builtin display during the test.
I also ran pre-boot diagnostics(Fn+power) without any issue. Please help me to diagnose the issue.

Answer:Dell Vostro 14 [black screen, external display works fine]

Check the cable that runs between the mainboard and back of the display panel.  If it's damaged, replace it.  That doesn't solve the problem, the next suspect is the mainboard.

I used to enjoy 3 displays (2 Display Ports and 1 VGA) - the newest set of drivers from Dell for the Intel HD4000 Graphics adater vesion: 10.18.10.4425 has suddenly limited it to 2 displays at a time.  There MUST be a fix for this, right?

So in a nutshell, I have already spoken with "Tech Support" in regards to this, and I'm guessing I'm not the first and certainly won't be the last.
The issue being whenever I have my laptop "docked" and have an external monitor connected (no matter if it's DVI, DisplayPort or VGA - I've tried all three) it will NOT display anything on the external monitor until it passes POST, at which point the external monitor only turns-on once at the Windows log-on screen. Funny thing is if I flip-open the lid on the laptop, the internal LCD panel will display all the POST information, until said point where the external monitor connected to the dock will turn-on and the internal LCD panel will power-off.
I have a case number, and was given the option to send-out my laptop to depot (repair) to have the motherboard replaced, but no guarantee that would even resolve the issue.
I have already attempted numerous BIOS updates (all versions available, and finally ended-up leaving it at A08 since none of them were making any difference anyhow) and also went as far as updating to the latest Intel drivers to humor myself (but that would make no difference since these drivers aren't even loaded when going through the POST sequence.)
I was told that this seems to be an on-going issue with most of the Latitude E6x20 series, and that supposedly a (soon-to-be-released) BIOS Update (A09) would address the issue. I chose NOT to send the laptop off to depot ... Read more

Answer:Latitude E6220 + Dell (PRO2X) Dock = No Video on External Display during POST

Normally I would assume something like this would be the way that Nvidia Optimus is designed.  Optimus needs Windows to run correctly,  Optimus controls the GPUs, no Optimus, no video. The problem here of course is that the E6220 doesn't have a discreet NVIDIA GPU, so it doesn't have Optimus.
At the moment I can't tell you if you should send the system to the depot or the system is working as designed.  I have sent a message to my contacts in engineering for help.  If a BIOS update is on the way to correct something like this hopefully I will get information on that as well.  I will post back here as soon as I have more info.

When viewing the Dell Optiplex 9030 specifications, it states that the device can be used as an external display for other devices, via its HDMI input.
I have followed the instructions given in the link below to link-up a MacBook Air as a video input, using HDMI. One user in the thread below says they have successfully done this, although it is not working on my machine.

When I switch the display from "PC" to "HDMI" using the OSD (On Screen Display) buttons it only shows a black screen, although my MacBook Air detects that it is connected to the Dell Optimax 9030, and adjusts its settings accordingly. On the Optimax 9030, the question-mark below where it says "HDMI" on the OSD disappears, but no signal is displayed on the screen.
Can anyone please explain a workaround to this problem?

Hello everyone, I have a problem with my external display on my X300 laptop... I have a X300 with WinXP, and a 20" 4/3 1600x1200 external display (Samsung 204B). When I want to use my external display as an extended desktop, it didn't work well... First I configure my display as an extended ... into 1600x1200px resolution. As the ratio isn't 4/3 on the laptop, there is some border at the top and at the bottom of the external screen, consequenly there is an "lift" (when I go down the screen move down.. etc.). It's not very ..cool. So there is an option into the graphic proprety to set the screen in "full screen : not keeping the proportions". But, in this case, my external screen display an ... triky ? There is still an "lift", but there is also two border on the right and the left of the screen, and the image quality isn't there. It's too deformed to can be read. After some research it appear that my lenovo drivers do not match with the last intel one... But when I try to install the lenovo one ... It didn't work ! (hardware problem). How can I get a working extended desktop into 1440x900 + 1600x1200 full screen ! Thanks for all, and sorry for my poor English...

Does anyone find that when T430 connects with external display using VGA, if you show a white screen, I can find some horizontal jitters. It is not that obvious, but if you show a white screen, or most of screen is white, and you check it carefully, you can see that horizontal jitters. This only happens in external display, not happen in the laptop display. I also have a T420, but I didn't see this problem using VGA to connect with external display.  Does anyone find this similar problem? I doubt whether this is problem about VGA port, or the related driver. VGA should be a analog port.

So basically - as the subject says -
Having a brand new Dell XPS 15 9550
with most recent Dell Wireless 1830 802.11ac drivers
cmd command "netsh wlan show drivers"
shows that current driver does not support hosted network,
meaning, that i am unable, for example, to share my ethernet internet connection Over wifi to other devices - i am unable to make my laptop a hotspot.
Which is ridiculous in 2016 and for a laptop of this level and is basically a prerequisite to be Windows 10 approved.
So my question is DELL, what the ***? When do we get normal drivers?
Anybody has the same issue - knows the workaround? Thanks.
I could not have expected that 2000$ laptop would not be able to do that. this is soul crushing.

Answer:Dell XPS 15 9550 - Dell Wireless 1830 802.11ac - Hosted network supported : No - cannot share Ethernet connection over WiFi

My new Y50 I ordered off newegg won't seem to charge. Right out of the box I did the initial windows setup with the power plugged in but after an hour or so it told me my battery was dying. The first thing I did was unplug and replug the power adapter and as soon as I plugged it in I got the "Adapter is not supported" error message. After the common sense solutions (check connections, move to another outlet, reboot, ect) I did a quick search and found a couple other people that suggested disable or uninstalling the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" and it didn't help. Nothing I can think to try seems to get the battery to charge while the computer is in use. If i close the lid or shutdown the compter it seems to charge. It's the day before a national holiday so I won't be able to get in touch with any tech support by phone for a day and a half. Anyone have any ideas? I'm worried I'm going to have to ship my laptop back.

Answer:Adapter Not Supported

hi KoryDVan,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Just to check, do you have these part numbers on the AC adapter label?

If you have a different P/N # then it's likely the cause of the "Adapter is not supported" and you may need to contact lenovo on how to go about getting a replacement AC adapter.

? I've received this issue on and off again since I bought the laptop. Sometimes the solution is to uninstall the Microsoft ACPI-compliant controlled method battery, restart and power down the machine while holding the power button, but just as often it does nothing. Right now it does nothing. The battery is not easily removable. If I leave it plugged in and shut down the system or put it on sleep mode it will charge, but as soon as I power it back on - it stops. This time the problem reappeared after a short power outage, it was working fine until then. The laptop is an Ideapad Y50-70 running Windows 10 x64 and I am using the original power supply that came with the machine, model ADL135NLC3A, output 20V - 6.75A.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.Regards, Nick

What is the complete product name or product number of your HP Pavilion notebook PC. Identifying it as a CQ57 is too generic and that makes it very difficult to see what the configuration of your notebook could be. Did you happen to have updated the operating system from the OS that the notebook was delivered with? Have you upgraded the notebook to a wifi adapter other than the one that was installed at the factory?

Hi, I have a Lenovo y50-70, and it's power adapter died (there are no output volts in the connector to the laptop). I bought a replacement online, which turns out to be a non-original power adapter, but the specs match (correct connector with signal pin, and correct volts and amp rating). But this adapter does not work in the y50-70. I get a popup on the screen saying it isn't  supported. Funnily enough the new adapter works fine in my lenovo t440p, and the t440p's adapter works in the y50-70.Is the y50-70 really picky? And are there any tricks to get an adapter to work with it?Thanks.

Did you search above right for what graphics cards will work with your system?   Not all will, as the BIOS has a white list what cards will be recognized.   Typically, the on-board graphics is disabled when a card is installed.

I have a wireless N router from Linksys and want to connect my main desktop using a wireless N usb adapter. I can't seem to find anyone who supports x64! I don't want to buy something only to find out Vista x64 can't use it.

So does anyone know of one that works?

Answer:Help finding USB Wireless N adapter supported in Vista x64

Well, this Linksys WUSB300N Wireless-N USB Adapter review - IT Reviews supports vista, and scanning the drivers section on linksys website shows it has 32 bit drivers but it doesn't mention x64. You could try generic drivers for 32bit, they may work on x64. If they dont work you could always go for a refund :/

Hello, I would love to ask for some help!
I've recently purchased the newer Dell XPS 13 9360 Non-touch (not the 2 in 1) and am having some trouble with using an external monitor. The screen (on the external monitor) keeps on flickering and has a very unstable connection.
I've searched and found that apparently lowering the power output of the WIFI network adapter can fix this problem.
The problem is that the current XPS's wifi adapter doesn't allow the power output to be changed. The previous fixes were geared towards intel wifi adapters.
The general power settings for the computers doesn't show wifi card power controls.

I have updated all the drivers for the computer including the wireless adapter. Still the options doesn't change.

Has anyone found a way to get a stable external monitor to work with the Killer Wireless Adapter cards?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
-JDed

Answer:XPS 13 9360 External Monitor Flicker with USB C - HDMI Adapter [Killer Wireless Adapter]

For what it's worth: For me (XPS 13 9360, QHD, i7, 16 GB, Killer WiFi), external screens are perfectly stable, even with wireless being on relatively high throughput load, albeit not high power (energy) load.
I am connecting both HDMI and DisplayPort displays, each with cheap native USB-C adapters (i.e. through Thunderbolt). I also have full success with a Dell DA200, through its built-in HDMI graphics adapter.

I have succesfully used a Hyper-V virtual switch connected to the wireless adapter in my laptop. All my VM's could access my LAN independently, and could get an ip address from the DHCP server. This means, AFAIK, that my wireless adapter can and does opererate in promiscuous mode.

This worked up to build 10586. Today, I upgraded to build 11102, and this setup no longer works. It appears that wifi adapters are simply not supported with Hyper-V virtual switches. Bummer.

When you try to configure a wifi adapter in a virtual switch, it is not simply grayed out, or otherwise made impossible, but it tries to go ahead and then gives an error message (see attachment)

This does not make sense. There is no other bridge or switch configured.

I found two work-arounds:

- configure the wired ethernet adapter to the virtual switch, and create a bridge connection between the wired and the wifi adapters. For me this does not work, because I get an other error trying to create the bridge connection, which I will report in an other thread.

- use ICS. This works, but has the huge disadvantage of having a NAT layer between the VM's and the rest of my network.

Has anyone experimented with this, too?

Hey guys, I'm a bit stumped over this one. I'm trying to create a hotspot, but I'm getting this error:

The hosted network couldn't be started.
The group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested operation.

I've followed numerous troubleshooting threads about the issue, and the problem seems to be that I'm missing the driver for the Microsoft Hosted Network Virtual Adapter. It doesn't appear in the device manager at all (I did check hidden items).

I am able to create the hotspot in the command prompt, but get the above error when running it. I thought I had something with this thread, but unlike that user, my wireless adapter DOES support hosted networks (at least according to netsh.

I'm at a loss.

Hi,I have recently installed Windows 7 on my Thinkcentre A30 (8198-72G) and am unable to find a display driver which will allow me to select a resolution other than 640 x 480. Can any body offer any advice please?

Answer:Thinkcentre A30 display

The desktop you own is not old and used with Widows Xp and 200.

As you have installed Windows 7, the desktop is not in compatible list for Windows 7 so the drivers are not available on website.

You can try updating the driver from web.

I have Dell Inspiron 5547 laptop (Touch Screen, 15 inches, 16 GB RAM and i7 4th Gen processor, Out of Warranty). Some days back, suddenly the display went dim and anything is hardly visible. After some initial investigation, the display chip (may be VGA or LED display chip) on the motherboard appears to be burnt out (may be due to voltage surge). Even the numbers printed on the chip is not readable because of which it is difficult for the local repairing shops to repair this problem.
I think Dell India Service Center doesn't deal with chip level repair and hence replacing motherboard is the only way they can fix this. This will be very costly (considering that the laptop is not under warranty so will have to pay for warranty extension, motherboard replacement and repair service) and time consuming.
Hence, to avoid all this I have come here to seek some assistance.
If there are anyone using the same laptop (Inspiron 5000 series 5547 Touch Screen Display with i7 4th Gen Processor and 16 GB RAM) then could you please take a clear picture of your laptop's motherboard or if you recognize the display chip then only that should be sufficient. In this case, I can read the chip related number from the image and try to repair it.
What are the charges for buying a warranty for the laptop, motherboard of my laptop and repairing charge?

Request your response and help.

Regards,
Rohit Kumar

Answer:Display Issue - Dim Display for Dell Inspiron 5000 (Model 5547) - Touch Screen Display with i7 4th Gen Processor and 16 GB RAM

You'll have to call Dell about the possibility of a warranty extension;  in the US, it's sometimes possible but will likely run over $300 -- or about what a board replacement would cost.
If you're getting video, the GPU is OK -- and it's more likely the power circuit to the backlight that's bad.  It'll likely cost as much to repair as to replace the board -- though you'll still be putting $300-400 into an out of warranty system, so replacing the system may be a better idea (if you do this, consider buying a 3-year warranty with the next system).

With almost every startup I get Event 315 error 2114. "The print spooler failed to share printer HP LaserJet P2050 Series PCL6 with shared resource name HP LaserJet P2050 Series PCL6. Error 2114. I've tried all the usual solutions--disabling IPV6, checked the Server service and all dependencies, nothing in logs.

Hi I have connected a hdmi display using a displayport to hdmi convertor to the thinkcentre e73. When the display is in sleep or turned of, when you boot the pc and turn on or awaken the screen, the image is not showing. Wiht vga I don't have this problem.WIndows10 is installed + latest driver using system update. Any idea?

Answer:Thinkcentre E73 display problem

The BIOS on Thinkpad computers allows one to select the default monitor on boot up. Perhaps the E73 BIOS also has a setting that would allow you to select Displayport as the default (I don't have this model).

I am fixing a friends dell computer, he uses the DVI connector in a dual monitor setup. On the back of his Dell, the VGA port had a plastic tab over it. The monitor I use to repair PC's is an old VGA emachine model. I took the plastic tab off the VGA connector on the back of his pc, connected my VGA to it and get a "THIS MONITOR IS WORKING PLEASE CHECK THE VIDEO CABLE AND COMPUTER". I have never seen this before, is there a way around this, do I need to buy an adaptor, I am doing this for free so I dont want to spend too much. I have googled and couldnt come up with anything.

Thanks,

Just picked up a used HP 19-2114 all in one. Integrated graphics card with the cp. But it has a mini pci ex16 card slot. Can I get a better graphocs card to put in that slot?

Answer:HP 19-2114 PCI ex16 graphics card

The slot is for wifi, cellular broadband or bluetooth; it will not hold a video card.

Specs:
http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c04326827
it also has a 65 watt power supply. Not sure if that would be enough to support a video card.

Hi,Our 7040 minitower has two standard (not ++) DisplayPorts.  Our monitor is dvi-D (dual-link). Dell supplied the tower with a DisplayPort to dvi adapter.  The advice received was that this adapter wouldn't work because it was passive. However, hooked it up and the dvi-D (dual-link) monitor displayed perfectly.Would anyone know why this adapter succeeded (when apparently it shouldn't have)?

Answer:How did this passive display adapter do the job that should have needed an active adapter?

Its not a passive adapter.
HDMI is bi directional and passive.
Display port is not.

Answer:windows 8.1 RTM installation says (Display) not supported

The "real" Windows 8.1 RTM has not been released yet -- despite a lot of activity on the net referring to the "WZT" versions that are floating around. I read only yesterday, that the build 9600 RTM versions floating around are actual "pre-release" and are missing elements that will be in the "real" Windows 8 RTM images released in October.

So, unless you got your RTM image directly from Microsoft, I would not trust it at this time.

Hi All I have a Thinkcentre M91P SFF Desktop with a Displayport that runs from an integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000 GPU. I have looked up this GPU on Intels website and it states that it supports Audio passing via the Displayport. So I was going to buy a Displayport to HDMI adaptor and connect my PC to my 42" 1080P TV for Audio and Video. Before doing so I just want to double check that this option is available via the Lenovo setup as it does state on Intels website that it was down to the PC Manufacturer whether this functionality has been included. Can anyone clarify this for me. Cheers Dougie

Answer:Thinkcentre M91P Display Port

Intel HD Graphics 2000 does support this feature, since my machine has the same graphics card and it does the pass through my Dell 2713 HM monitor to the soundbar.

Every now and then, the screen for my M93Z will become very fuzzy and the colours will skew towards green(ish). Sometimes, temporarily shutting off the screen fixes the issue, sometimes even switching between programs helps (if say one program was a full screen isntance and then the screen goes completely black while switching). Any idea how I can solve this? I am wondering if it's an overheating issue, a graphics issue, or a driver issue... Next time it happens I will take a picture and try to upload it on to here... I tried to screen shot it when it happened but the screenshot picture looks normal :/

Are you talking about putting the monitor to "sleep", i.e. into power-save mode, say after 20 minutes?

Normally you'd maybe activate the screen-saver after 5 minutes of inactivity, and then turn off the monitor after 20 minutes of inactivity. Is that what you're talking about?

This is normally done in the Windows "power plan":
