I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi guys, I am opening this post because I think that it could be useful to everyone who would like to solve several issues related to this laptop. I think that it is a really good notebook but it needs a lot of work to have it working in a proper way.So first of all I am posting here a link of a doc in which I am monitoring several issues I encountered and how I solved them. I know that it is not very easy to read it because its style is personal notes-like but I am sharing it anyone...probably someone can find the information it needs.Lenovo Yoga 3 1470 80JH monitoring doc

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 3 - 1470 (80JH) - General issues to so...

In this second post I am sharing the configuration to use with Notebook Fan Control software (probably some of you already know about this software if you hate the noise which fans of this laptop are able to do!). I added of course some considerations I noticed in preparing this config. Here we are... Yoga 3 1470 80JH using Windows 10 and NBFC 1.4.2.I appreciated a lot the work done by Mr. Cheeze but I found it incomplete, so I basically investigated the issue a bit more.I did not open the notebook but I found online that it is equipped with 2 fans. So, first step was adding the 2nd fan. Then I started to investigate if we can effectively control the fans and the answer is NO, but we can play a bit to force them to have a behavior. My target was only one: REDUCE the FANS NOISE and consequently their speed, because I think that this laptop is almost able to work in fanless mode (and believe me I stress it a lot, especially in terms of multitasking). Before showing my personal code to be used in NBFC I am giving you some information I retrieved by the Read&Write software (32bit version works well).?When Fans starts HEX values show up at position 6 and 254. These are the 2 actual speed values of the fans.?The target values (so where you have to write the desired fans speed) are in position 86 and 176. I am not totally sure if they are the effective position to write but they seem the only position which considerably vary according to the change of... Read more

Today I replaced the thermal compound (repasted) on my CPU/GPU cooler heat sink of my Yoga 3-1470 with i5-5200U (no dedicated graphics card) and there are the results: Before repaste: There you can see (orange line) how my CPU throttling. Max temps are reaching 76°C. After repaste:No throttling, max temps at 63°C average 60°C, constant fan noise. Here only compared graphs:To sum up my results, I gained a -13°C lower temps at the CPU full load 10 minutes stress test, have no throttling and especially constant and quieter fan noise when watching films or doing office work. Profit I guess.  Paste used: Arctic MX-4Intel Extreme Tuning Utility for stress test/graphs

Hello, I currently have some issues with my yoga 3 - 1470 (i5, 4Go). The laptop crashes at random, very often. In addition to that, it won't turn on. Or more precisely, it will turn on randomly, again. Here are some details:-----I have got blue screens (crashes) since about a week. IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION, CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED, ... This seems to occur at random.Mostly when I'm asking a lot from the computer. Once the computer has shut down, it simply wont turn back on. When I press the Start button, the power light and the keyboard turn on, and I can hear the fans. After 1 to 2 seconds at most, the keyboard and the fans stops. The power light stays on, but nothing happens. The screen stays black, I can't hear the fans (I hear them when the laptop is on). After a random amount of time left alone, the computer finaly accepts to turn on.------    Here are my investigations:------Even if the description of the problem screams 'HARDWARE', I first tried to see if it were not some software problem. I formated the computer to reinstall windows 10. Same. I then tried to reset the computer to factory state (built-in recovery tools). Same. In the same time, I performed the lenovo tests. Both from windows, and from the UEFI bootable tester that we can download from lenovo's support. All green. I performed every tests (extended). Here are the results codes: - memory: LMEBVV000-UL7VSE - motherboard: LMB07... Read more

Answer:Yoga 3 - 1470 (80JH) - Hardware problem

Hi CreiZyz, Sorry to hear that you're having troubles with your computer. I agree that it may be a possible issue with the RAM since you have already performed the tests. I also believe it is more of a HW issue, rather than SW wise. It may not just be the RAM that has a problem so I do suggest to have that checked thoroughly on the center.1) I am a french student, in Scotland. And I bought the laptop in France just before going to Scotland. My first question is then: can I handle this situation from Scotland? Can I contact UK support, can I ship from UK, do I ship to UK or to FR?In regards to your issue, if the unit was purchased from France and you're currently at Scotland, the best way is to contact UK support. I've also checked the International Warranty Services (IWS), that your model is supported in UK. 2) I need a computer. I am currently studying computer science. It is my work tool. Also, I am abroad and have no support here. I can't afford not having a computer for 1 month or more, and I can't afford buying something in the mean time.If I'm not mistaken, they can service it and they should have parts for your model. It also depends on the parts availability. If the parts are not available, they may need to outsource it and there may be some delays as well. I have bought a 4Go version of this computer, and I will need at some point to upgrade the RAM to 8Go. When I do that, I will want to buy some known brand in memory (crucial, kingston) with long... Read more

The battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery after it was calibrated using one key. Before that, the battery was working perfectly, lasting close to 5 hours. Now the laptop shuts off when unplugged and the battery status is constantly changing. I've had this laptop for approximately a year now and it was unused and left in an unopened box for the first 8 months.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 500: battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery

Hi, Denkendale ?

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Do this test -

1) Switch off the laptop.
2) Disconnect power supply. Keep the battery connected.
3) Try to Turn ON the laptop.

If the laptop does not turn ON, the battery is faulty.

Also, Try turning the laptop off, removing the battery, unplug the AC adapter, press and hold the power button for thirty seconds, install the battery back into the laptop but don't connect the power cable and try to start the laptop on battery power.

Update us how it goes.

I bought this machine in May 2015.  I began to have problems with it not too long after but since I was abroad I coud not send it out.  I finally sent it out in April 2016 (right before warranty ended).  They fixed some of the issues and sent it back, sadly I had to go back before I could get my laptop in May 2016.  I came back about 4 weeks ago and have been using it again since. Today as I was working on it after I plugged it in (it was at 7% battery), I noticed it only charged to 99%, it didn't show 100% like it typically does.  I didn't think anything of it and just went about my work. When I changed stations and moved upstairs I plugged it back in and noticed it is not charging at all. Tried several outlets, and tested the adapter, all is fine.  The kicker is when I unplug the adapter the laptop shuts off too, even tough I was 70% battery life.  Then it takes 10 or more seconds of holding the power button to fire it back up. I am pretty distraught over this. Would be grateful for any advice on what is going on. This machine is basically new! I have used only a handful of months and now my warranty is over! I can't afford another one or repairs

Hello, I bought a Lenovo at Amazon in November 2016, it was working perfectly until last week when the battery stopped charging. If I unplug the power supply it simply turns off the computer. Tried every hint from the forums but nothing happened. When I look at the Battery condition it status that I have a Poor battery, Status = No activities. Do someone have any idea or hint? Does lenovo guarantee for a computer bought in US, applies in Brazil where I live?

Hi everyone. I am about to start college this week and I recently bought a new lenovo yoga from bestbuy about 2-3 weeks ago and up until yesterday night it was working completely fine. I shut it down before going to bed and this morning when I attempted to turn it on, it alerted me that the battery was dead. I didn't think too much of it so I plugged it back in and saw that the battery remains STUCK at 0% no matter how long it has been charging. When the laptop is on it says "Plugged in, charging" but it hasn't been storing any energy. Help????

Hi, i bought this Lenovo Yoga 13 machine 3 days ago, and now the battery is discharging and when i plug the power cord the battery icon shows me the "plugged in not charging" message. The problem began last night. I've read some forums, and tried changing the battery configuration to this or that, nothing works. I've also read that in 65% the battery will start to charge. It doesn't, i'm currently in 56% and discharging. The problem began after a Windows 8 update, so I'm suspecting the OS is the problem....  I dont know what will happen when the battery discharge completely.... but i will discharge it and tell here what happens... Help!!!

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 13, Battery "plugged in not charging"

Hi iperich,

Thanks for posting in the Lenovo Community,

I?d like to advise you to try to turn on the machine using the Ac-Adapter only without the battery to make sure if the Ac-Adapter is charging and working fine,

If the charger is working fine let me ask you to try to uninstall the Lenovo energy management application and then try to refresh the system and then try to install the software back again and then  check the battery icon status,

Hope the information helps. Let us know.

Regards

Hi!My Yoga 500-15ISK Laptop seems to have a battery issue. For some time now, whenever I plug my laptop into the AC power, I get this message, e.g. "(% charge) available, (plugged in, charging)", however for some reason, the battery level actually stays the same even after a significant amount of time of being plugged in to the AC supply. Moreover, the battery icon initially shows the animated one which indicates charging is indeed in progress, then after a few moments, it will freeze on the estimated level. Before this, my laptop's battery usually charges relatively quickly. Also, I have not turned on the Conservation Mode so it must charged up beyond 50-60% especially if I leave it plugged in overnight. This issue is really bewildering me right now. Any comments or suggestions on how I can address this issue? Thanks!Other notes re my laptop:It's been around 10 months since I've bought it and I have encountered this issue only a few days ago.I have no other issues with it.

Sound was working when I went to bed, in the morning it wasn't.  Popup on speaker icon in system tray says "no audio output device is installed." Updated all drivers using iObit Driver scanner.  When that didn't find an audio adapter I rand the driver scanner on the Lenovo support site and it said no new drivers were needed.  Ran recovery from the startup and chose option to completely wipe the hard drive, files, progrmas etc. and install Windows 10 to factory settings - still no sound adapter. Saw a similar forum post with a link to a Reatek driver so installed it - no change.  Also followed instructions to uninstall sound in device manager but it wasn't there to uninstall. Ran Lenovo diagnostics from support site and it says there are no hardware problems and it sees sound adapter. I'm stumped. Any suggestions?

Mfg date for this laptop is Oct 2014, Windows 10 OS. About a month back battery power was about 25% when I plugged charger in. the screen became brighter, means it was charging. Suddenly the computer shut down and though charger was connected, the charging light went off. Thereafter the computer did not turn on either with charger or without. Even the charging light did not turn on. Changed the charger as well as cable but neither charging indicator turned on nor computer turned on. It was like battery fully down and charger not connected. Took it to Lenovo service center and they made it alright and told me that they had disconnected the battery and reconnected. The power left in the battery was still 25%. Exactly same thing happened once again yesterday and I disconnected the battery and reconnected and it worked. Since it happened second time, whatever the problem may be, was not solved permanently by above procedure. Can someone help what could be the reason and how to solve it permanently?

Hello, As the Title suggests, I am not able to turn on my Lenovo Yoga 2 13.When I try to turn on the Laptop, the White Light on the power button comes up for 6 Seconds and then goes off. Keyboard lights do not turn on, & the same effect with pressing the Novo recovery key.The battery does charge (The lights change according to the charge levels.) Things that I have tried so far: 1) Remove the power cable and press the power button for 30 Seconds, 60 Seconds, & 90 Seconds. No Effect. 2) Open up the backside, remove the battery cable (and battery), remove the power cable, and power discharge by pressing the power button. Turn on the laptop using just the Power cable. No Effect. 3) Remove the heatsink, clean it and then reapply the Thermal paste. No Effect. 4) Remove the hard disk and then try turning on. No Effect.  Despite trying all these steps, the effect is still the same. I honestly do not ahve any idea what to do now. Can anyone suggest something?  Any help would be appreciated!Thank You!

To start, I have seen the thread about a high pitched noise issue with this device's fan, and I don't think my problem is the same one. I have an ongoing issue with my Yoga 3 (full specs below), where for most of the time that the fan is spinning, it makes a loud grinding noise as if there's something stuck in the fan or the blade is off balance. I've only had the laptop for six months and it wasn't a problem when I bought it - it's developed since. The fan still seems to cool the laptop properly, and I've had no warnings from the device, but it's audible in quieter rooms and definitely isn't normal. I've installed the BIOS update that was recommended for a similar fan issue, and I've used OneKey Optimiser to run the fan cleaning tool several times - nothing has changed so far. I'm not sure what to do next. Should I attempt to open the machine and clean the fan unit with compressed air/investigate further, or should I contact someone about a repair? Thanks Aaron

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 3 1470 Fan Grinding Noise

Hi aaroncawte ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As what you have already described , seems that you have done what is needed fro the fan noise issue.
Noting that the issue is mechanical in nature , please give tech support a call for the needed service .
No need to open the chassis for further steps not to invalidate the seal / warranty and have the tech run further check.

You can however run Lenovo Solution Center for the hardware test just to check on other parts that can also be affected and likewise temperature check at the moment of the noise for baseline data.

My Lenovo was purchased back in 2015, so the warrenty is expired. Still, up until recently the touchscreen had been working fine. Now, no matter what mode it is in, it doesn't detect my touch. I have gone through every Google-searched solution I could find, none have worked.I have gone to device manager, checked the drivers for updates (they are up to date) but the window doesnt allow me to Disable/Enable the driver. I've used the lenovo website, the companion app and my windows control panel to check for updates but no changes to the touch screen. Running Windows 10 (64x) Solutions, or links to other form posts are appreciated.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 3 1470 Touchscreen Unresponsive

- Press Windows+X.
- Select Device Manager.
- Find the Touchscreen driver under Mice and Other Pointing Devices>USB Touchscreen Controller (A111).  You're going to uninstall this and check the box that says "Delete the driver software for this device".  Don't worry, it won't blow up your computer.

- Restart your computer.
- Re-open the Device Manager, and confirm that the Touchscreen is now listed under Human Interface Devices.

Hi, yestarday I was using my laptop with several opened applications and 1 hangouts video call active.Well, the CPU has decided to freeze at 0.5 GHz due to the generated heat. The laptop of course became unusable, so I closed everything and restarted the system. Once the reboot was completed I noticed that frequency was still at 0.5 GHz. Then I ran an Ubuntu live usb and I checked the CPU: again, still at 0.5GHz. I came back to Windows 10, I made a bit of research and I used ThrottleStop. I unticked the BD Prochot and then the laptop came back to life with frequency at 2.9 GHz (for the sake of precision it works even without turning on Throttle stop...you only need to launch the app and untick the prochot). Now, the problem is that I can use the laptop with all its capabilities only after I run Throttle stop. In all the other cases, even when I boot my laptop, frequency is at 0.5 GHz (and you understand it is working at low frequency because it lags a lot). Investigating a bit, I found that only motherboard replacement can fix this issue.....really? What do you think? Do you any kind of solution?

Hello, I have a question. My Lenovo Yoga 720 15.6" doesn't overheat, although I've noticed something rather odd. When I play Fifa 17 with the charger plugged in, the fans are very loud and the laptop gets pretty hot. When I play Fifa 17 on battery only (charger not plugged in) the fans are quite silent and the laptop doesn't get hot at all. Why is that? For all I know, I would expect the exact opposite...Thanks in advance!Kind regards,Tijs

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 720 15" : hot when playing games on charger, cool when playing games on battery???

The CPU runs at full speed when it is plugged in and runs more slowly on battery to save power.  Faster = more heat.

Hello, I have a Lenovo Yoga 3-1470 64-bit, which was originally windows 8. After updating to windows 10, the audio (Conexant HD Audio) starts to have some problems, such as the need to keep restarting my laptop to get the audio back. Recently it has gotten worse, hence I decided to uninstall the Conexant HD Audio driver from my device manager, with the hope that I can reinstall the updated windows 10 Conexant HD Audio driver. But after uninstalling, I found out that I cannot reinstall it back. The device driver installation wizard will only install for 2 - 3%, then a messagebox ERROR will appear stating that "Driver Installation Failed: Could not find the device for this driver." I have tried installing windows 8 and 10 versions of the Conexant HD Audio Drivers, but they do not work. Currently, my audio isn't working anymore. Can anyone help me, Thank you very much.

Hi there! Need help. Obviously. Hope people still look at this fourm... I have a Lenovo Yoga 3 1470 Laptop. Its...a few years old AND it is out of warrenty (so please no recommendations for sending it into Lenovo Repair Service). It is running the Windows 10 update, though it initally came with Windows 8.1  A few days ago I factory reset the computer to wipe it of all files and such. When the reset was finished it updated and reloaded itself with Windows 10. Everything seemed fine at first... HOWEVER, the touch screen is not responding to anything. I can fold the laptop into tablet mode, the physical keyboard will shut off but it will not respond to touches by any means. The Pen & Touch information in windows settings says that Pen & Touch are not available for this device. I have checked the drivers and the HID-Compliant Driver is NOT THERE (it was at first but it was greyed out and gave me a code 45).  Tent mode also doesn't work. I can flip the computer over, and Auto -Rotate will appear on the screen but the screen never flips. I have searched high and low on Google and Lenovo but perhaps I am missing something, a driver update or ...anything. Help would be great great greatly appreciated. Just to recap:-Lenovo Yoga 3 1470-Fresh Factory Reset-Windows 10 64-bit-Touch Screen Not responding-Tent Mode Screen Not Rotating-HID Touch Screen Driver Missing *EDIT: Just realized I made a similar post like 2 months ago...wow. I bought my laptop in 2015 and unwarranted, I'd like some help to get full functionality back into my laptop. While the subject states my problem, I do have some ways of getting use out of the computer:It can turn on if the battery is fully drained and after the computer is plugged in; it takes 8 days to drain. [Pressing and holding the power button only results in the PC flashing its backlit keyboard.] The battery can recharge and the PC can run on battery just as long the PC does not shut down, go to sleep, or the lid closes.Battery removal with the PC plugged in: the PC can always turn on, but when closing the lid or shutting it off, the power cord has to be unplugged and plugged back in.Additional computer information:-Windows 8.1 with updates-Installed BIOS update and Windows hotfix update from Lenovo.com

I received my Lenovo Yoga 3 14 yesterday.  Everything seems to be working great with the exception of the touch screen.  The far left side works well (about two inches worth) then a large dead spot from top to bottom to the far right.  The right one inch works as well.  What could be causing this and is there anything I can do to fix it?  Firmware or is it just the screen itself? Any tips or ideas would be greatly apprecaited.  I am very disappointed.

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 3 14 80JH-00LNUS Touch Screen Dead Spot (Half Screen)

Yes, same problem here. It gets worse: random ghost touches (hands nowhere near the screen) and dead spots in random places. 2 long phone calls to UK help centre - they seem to be unaware of these issues. Re-installed several drivers but hard to see any improvement as these glitches appear randomly. Not sure if anyone who has any power actually looks at these threads.

Have had a Flex 5 1470 for 2 weeks and today for several hours I ran into this issue where whether it was connected to power or working on battery power I could use the laptop only for around 3-4 minutes before it woud unexpectatly shut off (literally an immediate BLACK screen). I could then power it back on and continue to work for another 3-4 minutes before this would happen again. I downloaded a CPU thermometer and heating was not the issue (was operating well below the operating temperature for the i7).  Any ideas of what was going on? What might have caused this issue and more importantly how to resolve this issue? Your feedback is appreciated!

Dear All,I have Lenovo Thinkpad T460S purchased almost a year ago. Today I suddenly faced problem in charging battery. Charger is plugged in and battery icon is showing "plugged in, charging" but actually it is charging very slowly. Normally battery is charged in one hour or so but today it took more than one hours to reach only 24% or so. Furthermore, soon after plugging in, battery icon shows "filling in process" for few seconds then stopped i.e no filling in process. Furthermore, after whole night charging, battery is now 94% charged, battery 2: 100% charged, fully charged; battery 1: 0% charged, not charging (please attached images). Please guide how to get rid of this problem?Thanking in advance. Shahid

Hi, I'm a Lenovo Yoga 13 user, with 8GB RAM, i5 version. I've set all my settings on DotA2 to low, playing at 1280x720. The game does play smoothly at around 40-60fps at times, but some other times, it will just drop to 10-20fps. I believe the HD4000 inside the Yoga is capable of delivering consistent 40fps to DotA2, especially at my setting. There must be something wrong with the setting or driver, can someone help me out? I think the clock speed of HD4000 just automatically goes down after some time, I think manually setting it to always be at maximum clock speed should help, but I don't know how to do that. Please do share your opinion and experience, thanks!

I bought lenovo y500 two days ago in INDIA.  In the lenovo energy management system 8.0, I found a battery calibration option and decided to do it.  The steps mentioned there were as follows. 1. Full charge2. Full discharge  The process performed full charging followed by complete discharge of the battery which caused the laptop to shut down.   When I tried turning on my laptop, it could not start.  The battery charging indicator LED wasnt switched on even though the power cord was inserted into the laptop.  I could start the laptop only after removing the battery.   Once the laptop was on, I inserted the battery back in and it began to charge.  After about 50% of charging, I removed the power cord and inserted it again.  Now the battery couldnt resume charging.  I again had to shut down the laptop and repeat the above steps of inserting battery after switching on the laptop without battery.  Only then the battery would resume charging. After this, I decided to allow the battery to charge to 100%. But, the charging remained stuck at 99% and could not fully charge the battery.  When I removed and reinserted the power cord, the same problem persisted of battery not resuming charging. Please help me with this problem.  I read on few forums about uninstalling microsoft ACPI which supposedly solves this issue.  However, ACPI returns back after I restart my laptop.I also tried switch... Answer:LENOVO Y500 BATTERY NOT CHARGING AFTER USING LENOVO'S BATTERY GAUGE CALIBRATION

ADMIN Edit - While the original post below is marked as the solution, because service will be required if the battery will no longer charge after performing a battery reset, I am adding a Lenovo update here to confirm.   Normal operation will allow the battery to relearn its capacity characteristics when using the battery reset function.  Typically this is not needed in normal use..   Batteries are equipped with a safety feature that will permanently disconnect them (like a fuse) if cell imbalance or an internal short is detected.   This tends to be statistically infrequent, but also normal, and would require a battery replacement.  (Batteries have a 1 year warranty).   This battery feature can also  produce similar results to what is being discussed in the thread, so it should first be considered by service.   This particular  forum discussion also involves a situation that could affect a limited number of systems, and could lead service to replace the system board during warranty.

If your system experiences these symptoms, please contact service during the warranty period.

I've had my Yoga 13 for a few years now, but it wasn't until last fall or so that I started to get 'Unauthorized Battery' warnings upon start-up from the Energy Management program. This is a bit ludicrous to me, as the Yoga 13's design makes it impossible to switch out the battery on your own (ie. it's the original battery, and not an unauthorized replacement). As a result, my laptop stops charging, which is a concern for me as I am a university student who doesn't always have a power outlet handy. I understand this is a serious bug or issue. The first time (and subsequent times) it happened, I found a similar thread here on the community board which advised numerous fixes which have worked for me in the past whenever my laptop starts displaying the unauthorized battery warnings. This time, however, nothing I do seems to work and I'm getting ridiculously frustrated. The things I have tried thus far (that previously worked, but this time around, did not):- Uninstalling and reinstalling Lenovo's Energy Management program - NOTE: Usually uninstalling this program removes the 'block' on battery charging, but this time around it doesn't seem to be working. - Fiddling around with the Energy Management program's power settings - Uninstalling Notebook FanControl (which I used to control the random fan accelerations that the Yoga 13 is prone to)- Doing a hard boot by holding the power button - Booting from BIOSThe last time this happened, I had the unit sent i... I have just started using a the above device with Windows 8.1 installed. I'd be really interested to know if there is a way to stop the fan running about 90% of the time. I've read the thread about the high pitched noise, which I don't have.I've updated all drivers and the bios.I've run the fan cleaner and taken the back off to check all is well internally.I've checked in the Tasm Manager to see if anything is being a processor hog but nothing sticks out. Nothing appears to stop the fan running. That said, the machine is very responsive, so it's not all bad! Do I just get myself a cooling pad and deal with it? Or is there anything else I can do/try?

I am facing the below given 2 problems with the battery of a brand new lenovo U41-70 i5 Red model.

1. The plugged in but not charging error. Some suggestions in the web ask the user to remove the battery and change some stuff in the device drivers, but in my model the battery is not removable.

2. The battery dissipates a lot of charge while in complete switched off mode (not in sleep, nor hibernated). I have also disabled the windows fast boot mode from the power options, but doesn't work.
To give an estimate, in approximately 9 hours of shutdown (and the charging removed) the battery dissipates from a full 100 to 70%.

Note: I have updated the laptop which came with Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. Hence, the system is running on windows 10 now. The laptop is 10 days old.

Hello, I just bought (last week) a Yoga 2.  I love it, but the battery doesn't seem to really be charing to 100%.  I left my computer charging overnight (alongside my cell phone, which charged just fine) and then tried to use it the next day, but when I start up windows I get shown a message that the battery is only charged to 55%.   I immediatly plugged it it (I needed to be using it on battery power for a while) and after charging for about 10-15mins it told me it was 100% charged.  I proceeded to use it on battery power andeverything seemed fine (ie I was getting about 4-5 hours of life out of it) so I didn't worry about it. But it happened again today - I left the computer to charge overnight (plugged into the same powerstrip as my phone, which charged just fine once again) and when I started up isaw that the battery had only charged to 55%.  I decided to just keep using it to see if it would jump up to 100% (a friend told me that maybe the system is just calibrating to the battery and so gets the percent charged wrong when it powers up).  However, the battery has just steadily discharged, leading me to believe it really was only charged to 55%.   After reading a bit online I checked the Lenovo Energy Manager, but I don't have conservation mode turned on (or any other special settings, I haven't used that app before).   Please let me know if there is a simple fix - I really like this computer,... My battery is at 0% available, plugged in charging, but it never goes about 0%. I've tried resetting the battery gauge in Energy Manger 1.0.1.49 but that only runs for a few seconds and reports that the gauge reset is complete. I've also disabled the ACPI control in device manager then enabling it and the icon appears to be charging but only for a few seconds then stops. Having conservation mode on or off doesn't seem to make any difference. The latest BIOS is installed and I believe I have the latest version of Energy Manager. Anyone else having this problem?

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro Battery not charging

I've experienced this a couple times on my new Yoga 2 as well. The first instance, it just started charging again after about an hour of use. The second time, I rebooted after about an hour of it being plugged in and not charging, and once I reached the desktop, the battery showed 43%, but still not charging.. So i guess it was actually charging the whole time without showing it?After about 2 days of ownership, I've decided to do a clean install of windows 8.1 followed by loading all the necessary drivers listed on lenovo's product page, and I can happily say this 0% plugged in not charging thing hasn't happened again.

Hello there! I have the issue that my newly bought Yoga 11 (three weeks ago) is charging whenever it seems to feel like. The first time I have charged it, it went up to 92 % telling me its now in power state and not charging. This happened triple. Yesterday my Yoga was beneath the 50 % mark and I plugged in the powercable, the same again: not charging. I unplugged the power cable and at 0 % and a shutdown I booted it and it charged perfectely up to 99 % without moaning. I unplugged the cable and at 77 % the same again, I plugged in the power cable and it charged up to 99 % again. Is this a bug (battery problem) or a feature (thresholds for a long living battery)? Anyone with the same? Tia,- bensty

Answer:Yoga 13 Battery not charging

Battery not charging, when it gets to zero will not work at all even when plugged in.  Let it site for a couple weeks unplugged to get battery drained as much as possible.  Plugged it in once a day for a about 30 sec to see if anything would happen, nada...   After about 2 weeks, plugged in and finally orange light flashed then when solid and it started charging.  . Let it charge for about 2 hours then decided to see if it works.  Yes!  But then noticed as soon as it was up and running battery starts decreasing and went all the way to dead...  I have tried all the things mentioned on this and other boards to no avail. I am thinking class action may get some attention from Lenovo.  Any thoughts?

I recently noticed that my battery was showing 10 percent when it had been plugged in all day. I plugged it in and it didnt seem like it was charging. I could see the laptop plugged in animation, but it was not charging. I woke up the next morning it was showing 96 percent, which at this point should be 100 percent.  I'm now noticing that it's just not charging.  Are there known issues? Regardless, this is totally unacceptable.

Hello, In august I bought new Lenovo B50-80 notebook. One month ago, I was checking HWmonitor and I saw that the battery wear level is 11%. PowerShell battery test in Windows 10 says the same ? at one of a charge battery wear. Which I think 11% is to much. I use my notebook as a secondary PC. In two months of usage, I charged max 15 times (and before always depleted to 15%).I tried RMA the battery, but I did not have any success. They say that the battery is OK, if notebook does not automatically shut down.I would like to know if this is normal wear for battery and the answer from RMA guys.If it is not, how can I contact directly Lenovo? Please advise.Best regards.B.

Hello I am trying a power gauge reset in the first instance but wanted to find out if the battery is covered under the warranty as it shows plugged in charging but does not go above 8%

Answer:Lenovo G50-70 not charging is the battery is the battery covered under warranty?

Hi sasman20,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

To answer your question first.
(Yes the battery is covered under the Base warranty of 1 Year)
Call Lenovo Technical Hotline for assistance

Also try this step as this helped other with battery problems
1. Turn OFF the Computer and Remove th AC adapter (Leave the battery connected)
2. TURN the computer back ON and start hitting F2 (This will boot the computer into BIOS)
3. Let the computer ON inside the BIOS and let it turn off by itself due to Battery loss of Power.
4.  Now charge the battery again and check.

Hope this helps
Cheers!

Hello,  I have a Lenovo Yoga 720  15.6 inch with an intel core i7 7700HQ and Nvidia GTX 1050. I have tried playing minecraft on it recently as it is the first game I decided to download and when plugged in I maintain well above 70 fps at all times. However when I try to play the game with the laptop unplugged I am "capped" at 30 fps. Is there a reason for this? I am on windows high performance power option.I have also turned off Nvidia VSync and changed the Nvidia power options to maximum performance. Is this FPS cap something that can be turned off when unplugged or is this permanent for on the go gaming with this laptop?

Answer:Do you think the Lenovo Yoga 13 will drop in price soon?

It is a very unique product and very good at what it does, so I would say no, especially considering it was just released....maybe in 6 months

Hello everyone,About a week ago, I got an error message saying something like the battery cannot be identified (I'm trying to find a screenshot somewhere).Since that moment, the battery does not charge when the AC adapter is plugged in, while the battery is nearly full (>90%).I found this thread and it fits exactly to my problem: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Thinkpad-Yoga-14-battery-quot-plugged-i... I understand that this behaviour might be a feature to improve the batteries lifespan, but I really want to get rid of that. The Lenovo Settings App offers the option to manually set the charging-threshold to 40-100%, but setting it to 100% or turning the feature off does not change anything.Another side effect is that the charging process does not begin until about 1 minute after the AC adapter is plugged in.I didn't knowingly change anything on the software configuration when the problem appeared, the said error message appeared while watching YouTube-videos. lg, couka

a short & simple question:  can the battery be charged by plugging a USB charger into one of the USB ports?  (this is not covered by the manual, but I think I recollect reading a comment in a review that this could be done)   or is the only means of charging by using the supplied power pack?

Hi  I upgraded to Windows 10 and ever since then my laptop battery is not charging. I am a computer illiterate and travelling at the moment so can not even seek my IT departments help. The problem is that the battery shows 1% charge and when connected it to AC the laptop works well - as soon as I disconnected, it goes into hibernate. The symbol for AC connection does show so the laptop is detecting the charger. Along with this I keep on getting a battery calibration suggestion and says that I have not calibrated my battery in a long long time - although I do it every time it shows up. So I dont know what that is. Before the Windows 10 upgrade, my laptop on a 100% charge was giving me up to 6 hours of usage so I doubt there's anything wrong with the battery physically.  Would appreciate an experts advice on this. Please speak to me as you would to a 4 year old as like I said I'm completely computer illiterate!  Thanks & Regards

I've combined several discussions into one because there are multiple cross-overs of symptoms.

After reviewing all the posts, I see there are two types of problems discussed:

Battery charging but only to a certain percentage
Battery intermittently charging

Several people have reported success with their limited battery percentage problem by following the solutions suggested by MarinM and Vladtech.

For the intermittent charging, several people have reported that sometimes the battery charges, sometimes it doesn't. I'd like to dig into these reports. I have a few questions I'd like to ask.

When does it charge, when does it not?
Are there any patterns to this?
Does swapping electrical outlets make a difference?
Does the USB 2.0 charging port appear loose?
Does the cable show any signs of damage?
Does the AC adapter show any signs of damage?
When a second device is plugged into the extra USB port on the AC Adapter, does this impact Y3P charging?
Are there any battery error messages?

Thank you for your help,

Starting recently whenever my yoga 2 13 battery starts to get low and I plug it in to charge say at around 10-20%, the battery suddenly drops down to 0% and says "plugged in, charging" but doesnt actually charge. And if I unplug it, the computer instantly powers down and the only way to get it to charge is to shut it down and than turn it back on again. Please help was wondering if this was an issue with my yoga 2 13's battery or the charger or even something else entirely.

Answer:Yoga 2 13 charging battery issue

I also have started having this issue with my Yoga 2 11.Actually just now as I'm typing this message the problem occured. After registering, it seems to charge after dropping to 0%, but my battery was originally at around 40%  I'd rather not have my battery drop every time i plug it in.Note: Also seems to be charging really fast after holding a 0% charge for a while. Went from 6% to 12% by the time i finished typing this message.  Note: This doesn't happen everytime and has happened twice during the couple weeks ive owned this laptop.

I am a new user for the Yoga S1, but I was wondering if it is possible to turn off battery charging.  I mainly use my laptop at a desk (so I rarely leave it unconnected from Power Plug).  I know this is bad for the battery.  On a dell that I own (Inspiron 14z) i can turn off battery charging when the laptop is plugged into the ac power plug.  Is this possible w/ the lenovo yoga S1?  The closest I've gotten to doing this was seeing an ability to turn off battery charging via BIOS, but that is only temporary (when comp is off and unplugged to switch out battery). Any suggestions woiuld be greatly appreciated.

Got my Lenove Yoga 900  week ago. Today it had the message on the battery icon in the task bar *plugged in, not charging." Please help before the battery drains out! Thanks.

Answer:Yoga 900 - Battery *Plugged in, not charging*

You need to have a look at the battery settings in the Lenovo utilities.  If you have the power setting set to maximise battery life (or similar), you may get that message when the battery is approximately halfway discharged.

Hi, I have a new Yoga 2 11 and the battery will not charge. When first plugged in, it appears to charge but after 20 seconds it stops and if the ac adapter is removed, it dies. Have tried all the fixes online - any ideas?

Answer:Battery charging problem on Yoga 211

I've been having the same issue. I've had mine for about 2 months and it seems to be getting worse. I have, per manual, taken out battery and made sure clip securely fastened. That help for a bit. Other problem was the Lenovo battery application. I swear that drained battery, Even when the laptop was completely off. I'm at the point where I going to have to call support.

I recently bought an external 11000mAh battery that charges my phones and ipad. As my Yoga Pro 3 has a USB connector at the adaptor end of the cable I thoughtthat I could plug it into an external battery and it would charge like every other device on the market. But when I plug it in, nothing happens.  No charging, the lights do not even turn onon the battery like when I charge something else. Was I mistaken?  Is there a lenovo setting I am missing? I would appreciate your help.

Answer:Yoga Pro 3 not charging with external battery

The lenovo Yoga 3 pro needs like 20 volts to charge, so it is not going to work im afraid.

Hello,

I seem to be having an intermittent "Not Charging" issue on my Lenovo Yoga 900.

It usually happens when it's fully charged and I unplug it for a few minutes and then plug it back in. If I let it drop below 93-95% it will usually say "Plugged in, charging" again.

Is this some sort of glitch, or a feature? I tried looking to see if I had the "conservation" setting on, and I do not.

I have a few days to take it back to the store if I need to. I'd really rather not send it in because we have problems with couriers dropping off packages that end up getting stolen because we live in an apartment with multiple locked doors, so they usually pitch it beside the door and run off and then someone else takes off with our stuff. Had it happen a couple of times with Amazon orders. (grr)

Thanks to anyone who can answer this!

Answer:Yoga 900 - Battery plugged in, not charging.

Good day and welcome to the community. This is my experience with my Yoga 900 and Yoga 900S. This way the system isn't trying to constantly top off 1 or 2%, which is not good for the battery. By contrast, Conservation Mode will charge to ~60% and then stop. That has some benefits, also. Personally, I'm not using Conservation Mode, and so far I've not seen any negative effects on my batteries.

Hoipe this helps.Regards.

My Yoga 500 won't charge. While plugged in, the orange battery light flickers on and off, but the battery remains at 0% and says "plugged in, not charging".  This started when the battery fully discharged after I unplugged the laptop for 10 minutes (from 100% battery power).  Can anyone help? I can't even unplug the laptop for a second now or it shuts off completely.  Incidentally, the battery was replaced by Lenovo after I sent it in about 3 months ago because it was faulty. But now the laptop is out of warrenty. This is getting to be beyond a joke!

I am having the battery problem, it is not at 60% like some people here, mine is stuck at 0% and not charging not matter what I do.I've tried to re-install windows, re-installing energy management, charging it nonstop without using the laptop for days.I have tried every solution I've read on the internet, I still have warranty for this next step is a call to lenovo. Appreciate your tips&tricks to make this thing work again.

Answer:Yoga 13: Battery not charging, stays 0%

This happened to me (first it stuck at like 80, then dwindled and stayed at 0). Had to send it in and get a new battery. Don't know why this is happening to people, but I hope it doesn't happen within the next year when the laptop is out of warranty.

Answer:Yoga 13 and battery is plugged in, not charging.

What is the charge level? If it is more than 60%, then the battery will start charging when battery level goes below 60%. This would be valid if the battery setting has been set to maximum lifespan in energy management. If optimize for runtime had been selected and it still doesnt charge or in the eatlier option below 60% it is not charging, then you would have to take laptop to support.

I'm looking to buy an SSD to replace the dying SSD storage drive on my Yoga 3, Model 80JH. There's not much information out there on what specs I should be looking for to ensure it's compatible. The closest thing I've seen is mention of "5mm":https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-3-14-SSD-Upgrade/m-p/2167023#M32681 But that's not really enough information to help me pick from SSDs out there:http://www.samsung.com/us/computing/memory-storage/solid-state-drives/ How do I find a compatible drive? Thanks!

Hello Folks,After having received a new Yoga 3 14 yesterday I noticed that there were a lot of screen ghosting issues, especially when using high contrast apps or leaving apps on the screen. Even when the system is booting the afterimages are there and persistent, and continue to build on top of each other. I have already rolled back and updated the graphics card, updated the BIOs, installed the firmware update to fix ghost touches etc. but the afterimages of chrome and the taskbar and explorer windows remain, only leaving the computer off for several hours solves but I don't believe that to be a pragmatic solution. If anyone else has had this issue or has fixed it please comment!

Hello, My recently bought Thinkpad Yoga 14 recently had this strange problem going on. The battery goes down, even when the AC cord is plugged in. The battery message says "plugged in, not charging". What exactly is the problem, and how do I fix it? The laptop came with Windows 10. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you! ??

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga 14 battery "plugged in, not charging...

It isn't a problem.  The battery has a nearly full charge, so the charging turns off so as not to "cook" the battery.  If you unplug the battery and let it run down a while, then plug it in, it will charge.  I tend not to charge mine until it gets under about 70%.  A Lithium battery slowly degrades after a certain number of charges.

As I'm typing this now im running on about 20% battery and dropping. I've had my Z710 Ideapad for almost 2 years now. within these 2 years I've replaced the battery twice, got 3 new adapters, and had sent it in for the factory to basiclly gut it and replace it with graphics drives that were inferior to the previous ones.  So needless to say Its really annoying that now my biggest problem is that my laptop now will randomly stop charging randomly, regardless of if its on or off.
