Sound and Bluetooth Issues - Thinkpad P71 and X1 Yoga (2nd gen)

Question: Sound and Bluetooth Issues - Thinkpad P71 and X1 Yoga (2nd gen)

So I'm really at a loss with this issue. I've done so much troubleshooting to no avail. Removed soundcard and bluetooth and reinstalled. Installed new drivers. Deleting and repairing devices. Changing the WiFi to "Prefer 5.2GHz band". Other troubleshooting based on discussions on other forums... The Problem. Brand new Thinkpad P71. I have two of the same external speakers I've used with my iPhone via Bluetooth to stream audio and never had a problem. The speakers are the Oontz 3XL. When I connect with my P71, it can go 24 hours or two minutes, but it will just suddenly stop playing audio. The blue light on the speaker will turn off. To get it to work again, I'll have to close the audio app and reconnect the Bluetooh. Then it will run for anywhere from one minute to 24 hours and disconnect again. I also just bought a brand new Thinkpad X1 Yoga (2nd gen). Exact same problem. Did all the same troubleshooting. I mostly stream Sirius XM from a browser (and have tried different browsers as well). I also play audio from iTunes. The weird thing with iTunes is that when this happens, the Play/Pause button in the software will also stop working, unless I close the app and restart. It's definitely a Lenovo problem, since I am encountering the same problem on both systems. I don't know if this could be related to BitDefender and/or Malware Bytes (both are installed on both system). Both systems have all the latest drivers. Very frustrating to have spent around $7-8K on new systems and not be able to stream audio to a bluetooth speaker. I also went through support with Oontz and they gave me the latest firmware and it makes no difference.

Preferred Solution: Sound and Bluetooth Issues - Thinkpad P71 and X1 Yoga (2nd gen)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I recently acquired a Thinkpad yoga 15 laptop and while playing with the options I realised it completely lacked Bluetooth functionality. I have tried updating the Intel PROSet Bluetooth software, updating the network adapter drivers, disabling the adapter altogether and reenabling it through the BIOS. I don't know if the Bluetooth adapter is supposed to appear as a different adapter in the Device Manager or if only the Intel Dual-Band AC 7265 is supposed to show up (under the Advanced tab, Bluetooth is labeled as Active). No bluetooth option is present in the PC and devices options menu... I even reset to factory settings in case it was an issue with a third party program, but even there, same situation. Am I missing something? Please help me to get this feature working!

I just got my Thinkpad Yoga 15 yesterday.  I have observed that whenever I connect my Sony bluetooth headphones to the computer, the Wi-Fi appears to quit working completely.  Has anyone else had this issue and what are some possible solutions?  This is kind of a deal breaker for me.

I am having issues with bluetooth using windows 8.1. Windows can find and pair my device but only stays connected for a few seconds. The installed driver that came on the pc is: *Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) 4.0 + HS Adapter - version 3.1.1307.360* I have noticed that on the intel website the latest driver is: *BT_3.1.1311_e164.exe* although they recommend that I use the drivers provided by lenovo. Do lenovo have a fix for this issue or are you planning to release the new drivers? My system information is: Thinkpad S1 Yogawindows 8.1 pro 64bit (was pre installed)Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 (with bluetooth) any help will be appreciated.

I'm having the same issues with my ThinkPad Yoga - I have installed the latest drivers from Lenovo, but my Bluetooth will drop after a few minutes and I have to either restart bluetooth or sometimes restart the laptop to get it connected again. Thoughts?

We just received a shipment of Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 12 tablets.  One the first 10 that we have imaged with Windows 7 Enterprise the BT Mouse will not connect.  I have downloaded the latest BT driver and installed it.  The mouse connects, but it's grayed out and it will not work.   Anyone else have this issue?  8 of the 10 started working after the BT driver reinstall, the last 2 will not work no matter what I do.

I am using a Windows 10 64-bit system and having bluetooth issues due to broken drivers. Reproduction:- go to Windows 10 settings- click on bluetooth- let the system search for devices- (optional) switch off and on the bluetooth in order to reset the search Error:Windows does not find any devices. No headset, no controller, no phone. It was different a while ago, I could connect all these devices without difficulties. It is a driver error for sure, as I also booted a Live CD with Arch Linux distro, loaded bluez and bluez-utils, activated the bluetooth.service and did a device search with scan on in bluetoothctl. It immediately found all devices. I did try drivers on your support page: http://support.lenovo.com/de/de/...I did try one for Windows 8.1 x64 and one for Windows 7 x64. I also tried the automatic installation through Lenovo System Update. These all did happen on clean installation of Windows 10, no other software installed. How am I supposed to get bluetooth back running on Windows 10 again?

Answer:[ThinkPad Yoga S1 20C0] No Bluetooth devices found...

Hi.

Do you see the Bluetooth recognized on the "Windows Device Manager"?
Since you booted Linux and bluetooth is working I don't think it may be a hardware issue like you said.

Just in case did you updated the BIOS from the support site of your model ? There are some updated on the BIOS related to Window 10 compatibility.

I'm not sure which Bluetooth device you have on it. Is it the one from Intel. Maybe you can an updated driver on the Intel site, or sometimes I use DriverEasy (not from Lenovo) to help me find a newer driver on their database.

I hope this helps in something.
Regards

When I turn on bluetooth and I use my microsoft bluetooth mouse, this drops to 20 mbps, and if on top of that I connect to my bluetooth speakers and turn spotify, internet connection completely stops. Thank you all in advance for your help.

Yoga 13 Bad Wi-Fi and Bluetooth ? almost giving up (and giving back) I have purchased the Yoga 13 a week ago, and everything was fine. EXCEPT, I experienced problems to connect to the public Wi-Fi. I get  5 seconds of Wi-Fi connected, and then 5 seconds of "limited connection", and again "connected" for 5 sec., "limited" for 5 sec., and so on. I convinced myself it was because of the large number of people connected at the place I have been at. But now I am sitting here, with just a few people, and it seems they are all connected well, and only I get the 5 seconds cycle.  But it wasn't for this issue that I started to feel frustrated with my 1 week old Lenovo Yoga. It's the Bluetooth issue that really bothers me. I am trying to use Microsoft Notebook Bluetooth 5000 mouse. I have to use it, since I have to use both USBs for other devices. At first it worked fine. Just the random disconnections everyone on the net are talking about. I tried everything: I set the power management of the realtek  rtl8723A chip so it won't be able to turn off the BT. I also set the BT to automatically search for devices under services.msc management, which supposed to help reconnection after sleep. Each time it seemed like the problem was solved, until the next time it randomly disconnected. So I have updated my machine. First, I've updated the BIOS from CN52 to CN55. I don't know if it's relevant, but I mention it anyway. Them I've updated the realtek drivers, according to th... Read more

Hello,I have had a Yoga 2 Pro (Win 8.1) for over a year now.  A couple months ago I purchased a Microsoft Arc Touch Bluetooth mouse. Ever since I've been in a bluetooth twilight zone of bizarre behavior.  It will work and then cut out.  Some times it will be recognized but not work at all.  Other times it will be recognized and not pair properly.  I've combed through the forums and have tried:- Switch the settings to prevent the computer from shutting off the device due to power management (this did help but did not solve all of the problems).- Upgraded to the newest Lenovo driver on the Lenovo website (installed but refused to recognize any bluetooth device).- Uninstalled and upgraded to the newest driver on the Intel website (crashed when trying to install)- Uninstalled and reversed back to original Lenovo driver on D drive.- I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the wifi driver.  The first time this worked... the second time nothing. So where am I now?   All of the devices show up fine in the Device Manager.  The mouse is discoverable but won't pair. And I guess I'm out of ideas as to what to try next.  From reading the forums I guess it seems like I'm not the only one suffering from bluetooth issues with the Yoga 2 Pro.  But thought that I might as well post to see if perhaps there is someone out there who has an idea that I haven't already tried. Or perhaps someone from Lenovo could reply... X1 Yoga running Win 7 x64 In Device Manager, a Generic Bluetooth Adapter device comes up with the typical yellow exclamation point. "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) The event log has a bunch of entries with event ID 17:The local Bluetooth adapter has failed in an undetermined manner and will not be used. The driver has been unloaded. When I re-install the BT drivers, the correct two devices show up in Device Manager and the Bluetooth icon shows up in the taskbar. But after a reboot everything is back to a failed state. Any idea what's going on here? Anyone having the same issue?

Hi, Since today I'm unable to enable/disable plane mode on windows 8 (it looks like plane mode is enabled but the visual switch automatically returns to it's default position). As a consequence, wifi is disabled and I'm unable to move the wifi switch button to the enable state (state is set to inactive). I had to use the "Diagnose and repare" button from the network panel to re-enable the WiFi. After some investigations, I finally found that is issue is caused by the bluetooth that cannot be disabled when my Yoga is associated with my Logitech DiNovo Edge keyboard. As this issue totally breaks the "plane mode", If someone has a solution (or maybe an explanation) to allow bluetooth disabling other than removing bluetooth link with this device, I'm really interested.

The WiFi goes into a bad state if I stream audio via BlueTooth.  By going bad,  means I can't seem to ping anything on my local network including the gateway, but everything else seems OK (routes, IP adressed , etc).  The BlueTooth keeps functioning.  If I reconnect the Wifi, it works for a few seconds before going down again.  Something is wrong, but I can't figure out what.

Hello, I just registered here yesterday because I am having lot's of troubles with my Thinkpad Yoga (i7, hdd+ssd). Starting from the delivery which was postponed for several days (day by day) I ve been having many unexpected troubles with my first Lenovo Thinkpad..... Right after having it for 2 weeks, the keyboard stopped working. First some keys where giving constantly letters to the laptop and then they stopped working. The funny thing was that only some keys did not work anymore. A repair center replaced the keyboard due to warranty, but there the problem got only slightly better.  After the repair the keyboard backlight does not work anymore and neither the trackball. Additionally I had to install all my software again because something with the mapping table was wrong... The repair shop told me they gonna check it again which is nice of course, but on the other hand I never had so many issues with a Laptop within the first two months...  4 days ago the keys F9 to F12 stopped working again and today the Laptop was totally unresponsive and seemed to be switched off but instead it was getting very hot. I was not able to reset or switch it off in any way and the only option I had was to take some external fans and wait for the battery to die...  Afterwards it all seemed well again.... Has anybody had similiar issues and has recommendations for me how to prevent further troubles with that laptop?... Hello, I finally got my new Thinkpad Yoga S1, but there seem to be some issues with the NFC module. After startup, if I open the device manager it looks fine, but after a few minutes the "NFC proximity device" driver status changes to shows "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)". Under Details > Problem Code it says "0000002B", and under Details > Problem Status "The Request is not supported/C00000BB". In the System Event Log I am also getting a few "BcmNfcIc driver has failed initializing NFC device." errors at the time it fails. If I do a right-click > Disable and then right-click > Enable on the device, it works again for a few minutes, but then shows the same error again. I'm using Windows 8.1, fully updated with Windows update, and all drivers/BIOS updated using the Lenovo tool. The NFC driver is version 1.1.0.3130 from 17/12/2013. I also had an issue where the Lenovo QuickControl together with "Windows Driver Foundation - User-Mode Driver" background process took up 95% of the CPU time all the time, which I solved by deinstalling QuickControl. I'm thinking the two issues might be related, with the QuickControl trying to unsuccesfully poll the NFC device. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Jan

About 2 weeks ago my USB 3.0 port stopped working, after reading the comments on the interenet i presume this is from the Windows 8.1 update. I tried at first to sort it out myself by trying to uninstall and reinstall the port, I updated by BIOS, went through all the Device Manager and BIOS setup options to make sure it was working, and double checked windows updates. I am not particulary tech savvy but I thought this could not be too hard, as I it still lights up my external hardrive, it just does not detect it. So I know it is not physical damage.I then contacted Lenovo support who told me quite a few people were having this issue and that all I needed to do was download the updated Chipset and Intel Management Driver software. Clearly this guy had not heard of automatic updates and low and behold it did not work. I then rang back and the next guy was so inaudible due to his accent that I literally could not be bothered to ask him to repeat evey sentence, which was the first 5 minutes of our conversation. In my device manager I have an unknown device called USB Root Hub (xHCI), when I try to update the driver it says it cannot find any suitable match. I know this hub is the one to detect USB drives, so I don't understand why it will not find a driver.Around the same time I also noticed that my Bluetooth does not work properly! So I have attempted to sort this out as well. I  installed the latest Bluetooth driver from the Lenovo website and then "wallah" my Bluetoo... Read more

Hi.I've been lurking for a bit and have had most of my questions answered and issues solved bythis fine community. Thank you!My problem is that I can add my bt headphones (I've tried two different sets) in the "add device"option, but once I shut the bt device (headphones in my case) off and then turn them back onagain the sound continues to come from the tablet or stereo speakers (which ever I'm using atthe time) and the sound won't switch to the bt headphones automatically. I must manually go theSound settings in Control Panel options and select the bt headphone to use them again. As ofright now I've got a shortcut to the Sound options on my desktop. Now this isn't a deal breaker forme, but there's got to be an easier way! Hi,I have a 2nd generation Thinkpad Yoga 12.5 inch notebook. I have had this computer for about 18 months and the screen is completely ruined in many places. I have the matte screen and it appears that the pen has been scratching the soft matte finnish at many places. There are also big smudges from the keyboard that does not go away when I try to clean the screen. I am happy with this laptop overall, but I think it is terrible design to fail to make sure that the screen and keyboard is not touching when the lid is closed! Is it possible to fix these screen issues? Looking at the corner of the the screen, it looks like there is a screenprotector or similar on the device. Is this how Lenovo makes their matte screens? Just pasting a screen protector on top of a glossy screen? If so, would it be possible for me to remove it without damaging the actual screen and get rid of the scratches and smudges? Cheers Cheers

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga WiFi issues?

I am having issues with a ThinkPad Yoga model 20C0. It is very selective on what WiFi network it would connect to. Sometimes it goes on Limited Connectivity and does not conenct to anything until you disable and enable Wi-Fi.  In some cases it will connect to a WiFi network and other people would be knock out of the network, in other cases it will connect and after a few minutes the connection will drop and will not reconnect after a reboot. According to an article that reviews the ThinkPad Yoga, it is a Windows 8 (or 8.1) issue that happens also on other machines. Link to article: http://www.mobiletechreview.com/notebooks/Lenovo-ThinkPad-Yoga.htm

Hi there, I just bought a brandnew Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga (i7 with Digitizer) with the integrated "Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260" Wifi Module. It communicates with a FritzBox 7390 router. I ran the "Lenovo System Update 5" and installed all the drivers. No mather what I did, I had wifi issues. 1-5 Mbps max (~50 Mbps possible).. every 5 Minutes the connection to the router was lost... Common problems a lot of users are experiencing. After that I downloaded the driver from the Lenovo Support site. It had a newer signature... but still the same problems.  I found out, that the new driver, that I found at the Intel Support Page, solves my issues. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=24460  So for anyone who has the same annyoing issues, remove your driver, and install the one from Intel. And for the Lenovo Support.Could you Update the driver, in your "System Updater" Programm and on the Webpage?Atleast for me, the outdated driver is producing a lot of problems.  Just wanted to shareDan

Hello. I am having serious problems with my Thinkpad Yoga(20CD0038GE) Touchpad. I'm on the newest driver (18.0.7.40) and on Windows 8.1 Update 1. Very often after starting up the laptop the touchpad doesn't recognize any movement so the cursor stays still. However I can still scroll with two fingers. If I start Synmood.exe I can see that it actually does recognize touch input but the cursor does not move. Also the touchpad is not listed in the touchpad settings then. A restart seems to solve this but doing this every time is very time consuming and distracting. Also very often the two finger right click option disables itself without any reason. I couldn't reproduce this as it always happens at a random time. I always have to go back to the Touchpad settings and recheck the two finger right click option. Scrolling is very bugged and inconsistent. In Firefox it is very laggy and slow whereas in Internet Explorer it's very fluid. In Steam it doesn't work at all. Sometimes the Synaptics drivers won't load at all and I have to manually start them to get access to all the gestures. Even then it may not work and I have to restart the whole laptop. I already reinstalled the drivers two times to see if it gets better but it doesn't change. Downgrading to an older driver brings up different problems which are even worse. All this is very annoying distracting and hinders me from doing my work. I want to know if there other people with similar issues a... Read more

Hi all, I'm hoping desperately you can help. The touchpad on my ThinkPad Yoga has always been iffy, since I got it, in the sense, that it seems to randomly turn itself off, especially if windows has applied an update. In the past I've been able to enable it again, but not this time. Today I went to use my laptop and the touchpad didn't respond. In the Lenovo message centre it said it was disabled (although I didn't disable it). I looked up how to enable it and ended up in the device manager. In the touchpad properties it said: This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24) But when I looked at the other options and asked it to update drivers, it said it was already enabled and that the drivers were up to date.  So I googled more and the info seemed to indicate to uninstall the drivers, then reinstall them. So I uninstalled them, and downloaded some from the Lenovo site to reinstall. When reinstalling though, it won't work. It says the touchpad doesn't exist. Indeed now in the device manager the touchpad isn't listed, but it does say PS/2 compatible mouse there instead. This also has the same error message in the properties: This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24) In the Lenovo message centre it now also says that this is disabled too.  I've redownloaded and installed the drivers fro... Read more

Answer:Thinkpad yoga 14 little issues after windows 10

Hi danielmb007 It took me some time to stabilize Windows 10 on the TPY 14 (20DM008UUS). I went into a "driver updating rampage" for it and I have it stabilized right now. This are my tips to update the drivers on my Thinkpad Yoga, but you can decide how deep you want to go for driver updating:1) Try first Windows Update and update all the drivers and Patches2) Try Lenovo System Update to get any new/missing drivers.3) Try to install Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion from the Windows App Store, Lenovo Companion also has a "update driver search"4) Sometimes all that software does not recognize some updated / missing driver. Check Lenovo's Support Site and search for your specific model drivers. This will be the Lenovo supported drivers, but if you want to look for other update drivers directly from the manufacturer (AS IS) you can try:5) Depending on the machine chipset/processor, you can try Intel Driver Update Utility, or AMD Update Utility.6) I also like to use DriverEasy, which offers a a decent driver update recognition for free, but also tries to sell you the full version. Just be warned that the drivers that are not from the Lenovo support site are "AS IS" and under your own risk, I install them since I'm confortable installing, and un-installing Windows drivers, remember that a wrong driver may turn up Windows un-usable. Regards

Hello. I have purchased a Lenovo ThinkPad couple of weeks ago and am struggling to get TouchPad working properly since then. What I want to achieve is a flawless TouchPad experience, which includes:Right button click with two fingers only, right click zone disabled;Natural vertical scrolling;Natural ?back? and ?forward? three-finger swipe (i. e. left to right ? backward). On the first boot-up my laptop updated UltraNav drivers to the latest version from Lenovo support site. It?s version 17.0.12.60 from January 14 2014. This driver is not stable at all and has various issues and drawbacks:Metro apps are crashing when scrolling (Twitter, Facebook etc); You need to click and activate the scrolling zone, hovering the cursor over it is not enough. As a result in start menu tiles are selected successively while scrolling (white border around), and you can?t check several tiles if you need to scroll; It?s impossible to disable the right-click zone; When scrolling in classic-UI apps the cursor sometimes changes to an arrow with a scrollbar. This inconsistency is annoying.Driver tuning window is all crippled, labels are not formatted properly, and some of them are not visible; It is impossible to change to natural backward and forward swipe.I then downgraded to Lenovo?s driver 17.0.9 as of October 25 2013. It performs better but still has all issues of 17.0.12.60 apart from Metro apps crashing.I decided to download and install the original driver from Synaptics web si... Read more

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga TouchPad Issues

I've done furhter researching and found out some other strange Lenovo's TouchPad driver behaviour. In any verion you can't simply change registry values to fine tune TouchPad. Every single value is overwritten by Rundll32.exe and SynTPEnh.exe each time the system starts or mouse settings opened. As a result you can't disable right button (ExButton4Action key). Version 17.0.9 does not make Metro apps crash and scrolling works without activating selection (no white border around tiles). It also disables right button for both one- and two-finger click if you turn off two-finger click.

I just purchased two 2nd gen yoga thinkpads. I am trying to play a movie through the updated netflix app and the video just flickers .  Not sure if this is a Yoga issue or Netflix problem.  I have tried reloading the app and rebooting.  I thought it may be a Yoga issue if both of my Yogas are having the same exact issue. Video plays fine through any other app or browser.  Thanks for your help.

Hello, Just wondering of anyone on the forum or someone from Lenovo can help. I am not technologically savy and mostly just a user of Microsoft software. My wireless connection on my new Thinkpad Yoga is slow and cannot stream media such as I Player or I Player radio without stopping. My four years old sony vaio laptop has no problem doing these things. I've read on the forum that deleting the Lenovo EMC Storage Connector helps. I have done this but the connection is still poor. I then phoned Lenovo technical support, they asked me to re-download the wireless driver and hot key driver and then try the wireless connection on a different network to see if it is still slow and if it is contact them again. I will do this soon to test it. Does anyone have any other ideas what could be the problem. I really like the Thinkpad Yoga and it would be ashame to take it back if this can't be fixed. Interestingly the technical support person did not know or acknowledge the problem with the Lenovo EMC Storage Connector. Hope someone can help. Many thanks.

Answer:Wifi issues with Thinkpad Yoga

Hello, Sorry to bump this up but I'm still hoping there might be some advice out there. I've tested the yoga thinkpad on two other wifi fibre optic broadband networks and it worked fine. On my own EE normal broadband it still struggles and can't play a 30 min I player programme without stopping every three minutes. What I don't understand is that my sony vaio laptop works fine on the same network. The other weird thing is when I do a speedtest on speednet.com, as it's downloading, the test file it shows speed of about 15 MBS (not bad) but it can't quite finish downloading the file, just hover there. No idea why, could this indicate a problem? I will contact EE technical support to see if there is anything their end. Cheers,James

Hi everyone, I received my ThinkPad Yoga yesterday. Upon booting it up, everything seemed to be working fine. I set it up and everything without a hitch. Then I got to the OS (Win 8.1). The keyboard just didn't respond at all. So I got fed up with trying to figure it out (a USB keyboard didn't work either), so I installed the Windows 10 Technical Preview since I would be installing it eventually anyway. Same issue, worked at boot and at login screen, stopped working after that. This time it made a noise though. The Yoga makes a very strange "you can't do that" type of noise every time I push a key. I then tried Ubuntu, on which the keyboard works find, but upon installing Windows 10 again I have the same issue.I'm totally confused at this point. I've obviously tried every driver I could possibly find for the device. I've been looking everywhere and I can't find anyone with a similar issue. I have the model with the Wacom stylus / digitizer, and it's the Signature Edition, if that matters. Any help is appreciated. P.S. Sorry for the wall of text ;p

I recently bought a Thinkpad Yoga and found a few issues primarily in the trackpad. The trackpad appears to have a matte finish which greatly increases the friction between my finger and the trackpad itself. This supposed glass trackpad is not smooth and causes jumps and waves when making diagonal lines specifically. Can someone please try making a slow 45 degree line in paint or something and see how straight it comes out? I want to know if i'm the only person here or if it's a common issue.

Hi I purchased a Thinkpad Yoga for use as my main work PC nd took out extended cover. i was initially pleased with my purchase but found the i7/8GB/1T HDD was slow and unresponsive which i suspect is the HDD. After a while the laptop failed to go into hibernate and when i went to get it from my laptop case it was extremely hot, the lenovo logo affixed to the wristwrest had fell off and so had a rubber foot. The laptop continued to get very warm in use and Lenovo send an engineer to replace the cooling fan. Lenovo were unable to replace the rubber feet or the logo because these dont have a SKU which is ridiculous. This means the laptop is not stable on a desk and the ground clearance is inconsistent and may be causing further overheatingI went to continue an important work project today and have been greeted with HDD 0 not found. It would appear the main hard disk has failed causing me to lose some data..and yes I know a backup is my responsibilityHaving purchased the mot expensive Yoga at the time I am extremely disappointed with the reliability of what I thought was a road warriors laptop.I am wondering if my early adoption of the Yoga was a mistake or whether they are all unreliable and look forward to any replies thanks

I uninstalled the windows 8.1 that came with my Thinkpad Yoga to installe windows 7 64-bit because there was no support for Power Manager ( a tool that allows you to charge your battery only upto a certain percentage (eg 40%) which helps reduce battery aging when the notebook is mostly operated on AC power).Doing that required me to fully clean the Hard-disk during the installation process.I installed almost all of the drivers available on  http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-...for thinkpad yoga and windows 7 64 bit.Happily, this provided me the Power manager, and I can use it just as I wanted. However, all these has brought in additional issues which are listed below:  1. The touch pad right click doesn't work. Only two finger tap works as right click.2. The touch pad gestures for zoom and scroll doesn't work at all.3. The screen auto-rotate doesn't work.4. The touch screen gesture for zoom doesn't work. I did install the ultra-nav and screen-rotate drivers, but I get error messages regarding synaptics ... not working and also sensor driver not working during the windows startup. Any help please? Thank you.

Answer:Issues with Thinkpad yoga on Windows 7 64-bit

Follow up: After going through windows update and installing windows 7 service pack 1, some of the issues have been resolved. The screen auto rotates based on device orientation. The two finger scroll and zoom works on the touchpad. The physical right click still doesn't work. (The two finger tap for right-click is working). One important feature that I still find mssing is that the two finger pinch to zoom doesn't work on the Touchscreen (it works in Touchpad though). So, when I am browsing websites on Tablet mode, there is no way to zoom in! Thanks.

I have over 30 Yoga 12 that I administer. I have now had 2 that have keyboard issues where certain / most keys stop working. The keys either don't work at all or give incorrect input. Such as pressing shift makes tab key action occurr or pressing return makes x come up. It seems the only fix is replacing keyboard. Is there a known problem with these machines and their keyboards?

Hi all. Nice to meet you. I have a Lenovo Yoga 720 and am noticing two issues.  First, whenever I am on Wifi, my connection will occasionally drop and restart. It is becoming a challenge especially during Skype calls and even simple tasks like browsing. My wifi appears to be OK because I have another PC and Mac that does not have any connectivity issues. Is there something I can do investigate and solve this issues? Moreover, I have connected my Microsoft Sculpt Mouse which had worked great on another PC's. While I can connect it with my Yoga, the connection frequently drops and takes a couple of seconds to re-establish itself. If anything, these issues have become a pain. Any suggestions/ideas on how to rectify the situation would be greatly appreciated!

I was having sound issues (cracking and popping) as well issues with audio on WiDi until I stopped the program Discovery.exe using Task Manager.  I removed the program Lenovo EMC Storage Connector (which is what is called) using the Control Panel.  Since then no more popping and audio issues.  No promises that is your issue but it was mine.

I've recently updated my Thinkpad Yoga S1 to Windows 10, and it was giving me a lot of issues. I've since switched back to Windows 8.1 and I'm appalled to see that these issues now carried over back into Windows 8.1. I had the common problem of the trackpad not working when I woke my laptop up from sleep mode, and I also had my trackpoint failing to even register. Additionally, when the trackpad did work, it would be laggy/choppy and basically unbearable to use. Any thoughts on a solution to this problem? I've updated the synaptic drivers more times than I can count...

So we were wondering if OneLink Pro users experience this problem... Will appreciate your feedback.

I just purchased a X1 Yoga 2nd Gen with a high-end configuration.  In theory, this is my ideal computer for home (which includes a lot of computer modeling work in evenings and weekends).

But I just returned it because I was experiencing a cascade of mostly mouse-related issues.  At times, these issues all affected the TrackPoint, TouchPad an X1 external travel mouse, so they were not device-specific.

I first noticed the mouse would freeze, and display a tiny scroll-bar pointer.  When I'd try to move the mouse, the scroll bar gliff would shift from vertical to horizontal, etc... but the mouse would not move and could not be used.  I would have to force a reboot and repeat until the problem went away.  I seemed to minimize this problem by changing a mouse setting in Devices / Mouse Properties / Thinkpad.  Under Enable TrackPoint, I changed the Middle Button Action to "Use as middle click".  This seemed to improve things...

But then the mouse started rapidly drifting across the screen, and this drifting process would go on and on until I rebooted (often several times).  When the mouse was drifting -- always towards the upper-right -- it was essentially impossible to use the computer.

I also found that the mouse buttons would quit working frequently.  This was most common when I had other processes running.  But the CPU (and memory) was far from maxed out -- I had it at 30-40%.  This pro... Read more

Good day and welcome to the community.I can't comment on the USB headset question, but if you've got an older, dual-plug headset that you'd like to use, then you might explore getting a combo-jack splitter as described in this KB article: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Displays-Options-and-Accessories/Microphone-Headset-Jack-splitter-neede...

I have two problems i amd struggling to get support from Lenovo on..  1. When i connect my P40 Yoga to a 2nd Display and set my desktop to extended mode. When ever i right-click the 'context' menu that appears is not in the same location as where the stylus is. It appears to be offset based on the amount of total desktop space (becuase its extended) rather than just the actualy lenovo laptop screen. (which is the only screen thats compatible with the stylus). Any suggestions? 2. This one has only started happening recently. The Wacom service: Tablet Service for ISD Driver is constantly using 75% of my CPU and generally makes the device unusable. If i disable the service i am no longer able to use my stylus.. (which is the whole point for buying this laptop at $2000!). It continues to use 75% of my CPU no matter what i do (even when not using the stylus). It appears to use more and more memory over time as well.. Who should be fixing this Lenovo or Wacom?  ?

Hi All, This is my first post to the forum and I was hoping that someone could give me some assistance with an issue that I?m having with setting up and configuring Bluetooth on my ThinkPad T43 model 2686-DHU I had a different model T43 ThinkPad (gotta love these things they are just rock solid) and it did not have the Bluetooth module so I bought a BT daughter card for it FRU 27R1880, (which according to what I read on the forum and at various sites is compatible with the T43) but alas when I opened my original T43 I thought it had the BT antenna and then when I went to put in the card, found I was mistaken, no antenna. So I dropped the card in the unit and just left it there knowing that I couldn?t use the built-in BT. Then a couple of weeks ago my wife dropped my ThinkPad on the floor so I had to buy a replacement T43 the above mentioned 2686-DHU. While in the process of pulling the memory, HD etc out of my broken unit to install in the new one I noticed that this one had a the BT antenna and I thought ah ha I?m in business. The 2686-DHU ThinkPad is running WinXP Pro SP3After installing my old hard drive in it I updated all the IBM drivers and BIOS from the Lenovo website to the latest release for the 2686-DHU before I tried messing with the BT. I know that the BT card works because if I let the MS drivers install I can see the ThinkPad from other BT devices. However, the MS drivers don?t support the functionality I want, namely Stereo over BT. ... Read more

In theory, it looks like it's all fine: ? In practice, however, no audio is transmitted via HDMI (I tried it with different monitors), and the video signal of any application trying to play audio over HDMI is stuttering ? as if it's trying to sync audio and video, but failing for some reason. As soon as the output device is changed, the video plays smoothly again. Changing the "Default Format" did not change anything. Currently, "16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD quality)" is selected. A support ticket I opened quickly after upgrading to Windows 10 promised a driver update to fix this. A more recent ticket advised me to revert to the stock Windows 8.1 installation instead, which I refuse to do. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this issue?

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga S1 - No sound via HDMI on Windows 10

Hi

I have a different Thinkpad Yoga. Checking your issue I wonder if you would like to do some "trial and error" like:

1) Try a different HDMI cable, you never know.
2) Check the driver version of you Intel Display Audio. Here it is mine:
?
3) Just in case check the Lenovo Support site for your model and try updating the Intel Video and Realtek drivers just in case.

This is only that cames to my mind right now.

Anyone got an issue with the keyboard? Sometimes when I type using the keyboard, it make a sound, coming from the speaker. I have no idea what happen. The keyboard function as normal, apart from making random noise through the speaker somehow. And it happens for the alphabet buttons only. I tried to pinpoint what makes the noise and if certain buttons trigger it, but so far, looks like it is random and any button can trigger it.

Hi, just got my Thinkpad Yoga 14 (20DM009GUS). I am bothered with two problems: (a) the CPU temperature is between 40-45 C (idle) to 45-60 C (web surfing) and it's quite unconfortable on lap (too hot), and (b) there is an annoying squeak sound if pulling or pushing the left side. Does anyone experience similar problems? I am just curious whether these are just my machine's problem.  Any suggestions to solve these problems will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

I recently purchased a Yoga 11e 20d9 model and so far I'm loving it.  However, I wanted to upgrade the memory from 4gb to 8gb.  I purchased Crucial 8GB Single DDR3 1600 MT/s (PC3-12800) as all the reviews I read said this was okay to use, however, everytime I install the memory and I try to charge the laptop at the same time it crashes.  I can run windows 10 perfectly without issue up until I try to charge it.  I can charge ther laptop when the laptop is off but for the life of me I can't get it to coexist.  I installed the original ram and everything works perfectly.   Even if I'm in bios, as soon as I plug in the charger the laptop will crash.  It literally has rips on the screen and everything fades out.  As soon as I unplug it, the laptop works flawlessly.   I returned the memory and got a replacement and it does the same exact thing.  I updated both the BIOS and battery firmware.  I am out of ideas.  Any help would be appreciated.

Try a different memory module again. It could be that this one is faulty too.If you still have issues, you could also try a different brand like G-Skill, Corsair, Samsung, ...Which is the manufacturer of the original SODIMM? Micron, Hynix or Samsung?

I have recently purchased lenovo thinkpad x1 yoga from Germany. I have tried to install different versions of linux ubuntu in dual boot, but none of them seems to work. It boots from the bootable usb and gives the live ubuntu and install ubuntu options but when you enter then it displays a blank screen and nothing happens afterwards. I am facing another issue pretty consistently that the touch screen becomes unresponsive most of the times. When i use the pen it works fine but it does not works with my fingers. Looking forward to some solution as its pretty annoying experiencing such bugs in such an expensive machine. Thanks

Hi - I've read various posts about problems with Headsets but not yet found a solution!  I have purchased a new headset together with splitter to use the single 3.5mm jack port for both audio and recording.  I can get the audio to work and the headset shows in my "Playback" however my laptop will ONLY use the built in mic and will not detect the headset in "Recording".  Obviously this is not good for VOIP calls and I need to get the mic on my headset working by tomorrow morning!  I've done all the basics - resinstalled sound card, checked all devices are showing and disabled devices not in use.  I've also checked the microphone privacy settings and in Realtek Audio I can't see a headset in the microphone options there!  Can anyone help at all?  Thanks so much

I am currently counting the 4th 5th attempt to downgrade my Yoga 14 from Windows 8.1 to Windows 7 professional using a "Windows 7 recovery disc set" (4x dvd) acquired from lenovo.Except from creating a recovery media for win 8.1... I have carefully followed the instructions provided by lenovo.During the first phase that consist of swapping discs as instructed by Lenovo R&R the installer reports that a fairly substantial amounts of files are not found. However the installation continues without any regard for these apparent errors. The system reboots several times and files are extracted and such and matters seem to progress with relative ease. Then the Windows setup starts cycling through:OK! - C:\SWWORK\BCD0B.CMDOK! - C:\DRIVERS\DPINST.CMDC:\SWWORK\DOWORK.CMDAnd there it seems to stop with Preload System Setup displaying "Please wait, Preload Customizations in progress......" in the foreground. The reason for this halt in the operation seems to be windows security window in the background demanding response on whether to install a unverified driver of unknown origin. So if one accepts the installation of this mysterious (NVIDIA?) driver the installation will proceed and one will have additional request to install various intel drivers.During my first attempt to downgrade I manually accepted all the drivers install requests in order to make the installation continue. But at a certain point I get the infamous BSOD stating some serious issues with NDIS.SYS.(I managed to ta... Read more

Hi,I have recently upgraded to windows 10 from windows 8.1 and i am facing the followong issues. When i am in tablet mode, my screen doesn not rotate and change its orientation. Its in the same orientation mode as desktop mode. When i put it in tent mode, the screen is upside down,  Can someone please help me out with this problem? Thanks!

Answer:Thinkpad S1 Yoga screen rotation issues after windows 10 upgrade

Hi sumitgoyal3832
Welcome to the forums. Can you please post the full model number of you Thinkpad S1 Yoga?

I have a different Yoga Machine, but when I upgraded to Windows 10 it took me some work updating the drivers to stabilize it. Maybe you can try to updating the driver.

I try that in this order:
1) Windows Update - Check for any update there
2) Use Lenovo System Update to see if it find any BIOS or Driver update
3) Install Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion from the Windows Store.
4) Sometimes some newer drivers does not show on System Update or on Lenovo Companion. Check also the "Lenovo Support Site" with you full model number and check for any driver... you can sort driver by date.

But maybe your computer is a older one and does not have Windows 10 drivers on the Lenovo Site.
In that case I also use "DriverEasy" but that is un-support from Lenovo and AS IS under your own risk. But in my case that tool helped me out a lot to find newer drivers on my machine.
I hope this tips can you some help.

Regards

I've been trying to adjust to the ELAN touchpad that is shipping with the new BestBuy TPY 14 Yoga. I've had this laptop for 5 days now and I am really fustrated with the ELAN touchpad / drivers and how two finger scrolling works.  I've owned 6 thinkpads over the years and none have ever used an ELAN touchpad. I don't know if there is such a thing but the touchpad uses ELAN drivers not synaptic. Windows 10 Home, using standard Lenovo drivers across the board. Uninstalled and reinstalled lateest ELAN drivers several times. EDGE and IE pages are scrolling slow sometimes, very fast sometimes, and fail to scroll at other times. Depends on the site I visit and seems consistent on those sites. Rarely is the two finger scroll perfect. Synaptic drivers always work perfectly on my old thinkpads with those touchpads.MS Main and Outlook scrolling the list of emails will not scroll. The scroll pointer icon appears but no movement. I have to finger scroll.I have adjusted the touchpad speed and mouse speed. I've checked and unchecked Enhanced Pointer options. The only think that these settings did was to slow down the perfect pages making these changes worse. Fast is fast ALL THE TIME. I absolutly love this laptop but this ELAN touchpad turns it into a potential boat anchor and renders it usless if you have ever gotten use to using a good one. I have a couple more days before returning. Are there any suggestions that might fix these issues or is this expec... Read more

I have a user with a ThinkPad Yoga S1 and a OneLink dock (NOT the pro version).  Periodically when she plugs it into her PC the network connectivity doesn't connect.  generally this requires reseating and restarting the computer for it to come up.  it's on the most recent firmware, though there is a bios update for the yoga.  I have 4 of these configurations all used by C-level managers at our company.  One other has reported similar issues in the past but they seem to have subsided as of late.  Are there any known issues related to this, or anyone else experiencing similar?

When a Windows 8 ThinkPad Yoga is connected to a ThinkPad OneLink Pro Dock (Model DU9033S1) which has a sound cable placed into its headphone jack, every few seconds the sound will alternate between the laptop speakers and the docking station. It appears that the connection to the docking station is briefly lost (sound comes from laptop speakers), and then re-established (sound goes to docking station). However, during this "disconnect/connect", all other aspects of the docking station are unaffected (video, network, USB).

Updating BIOS, audio drivers, dock drivers & firmware have had no impact. If sound cable is removed from dock, then behaves normally (sound goes to dock only). Happens with multiple Thinkpad Yogas and multiple docking stations.

I recently bought a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 14 (with the nVidia 840m graphics card) and the professional onelink docking station.I use DVI from the docking station to my computer screen and a display port -> HDMI to get sound to my surround receiver, but it is not working 100%.I am only able to get stereo sound to my surround receiver for some reason. I have looked through the settings for both Intel graphics and nVidia (I don't know whether the Intel or the nVidia graphics card does the audio processing), but I have found no way to enable surround sound. When I go to the sound settings in Windows 8 and click "configure" I can choose between severel audio setups from a list (stereo, quadraphonic, 5.1 surround etc.) but it is only when I choose stereo that I get any sound to my receiver at all.How do I fix this so I can get surround sound?Thank you for your help.

when i plug in high quality headphones i notice a very high frequency sound(tested many headphones and multiple OSes in my laptop), got the sound card changed throgh warranty, but the problem persists, ive read that maybe is an EMI interference(video card maybe), an engeneering problem. do you also experience those? is there anything i can do?my laptop model is 20DM000VUS

Answer:thinkpad yoga 14 headphone jack high frequency sound

I do too! However I noticed, oddly enough, that the phenomenon goes away when I plug the thing into AC power. Also, when I first upgraded to W10, there were some major changes to the sound capabilites - I could watch a YouTube video comfortably at maybe 4 in W8.1 while I had to crank it up past 80 in W10. After updating to W10v1511 this issue has since been fixed, and the volume of this hissing has also decreased.I tried a good many things too. Reinstalling the sound drivers, and all that.

Have a good day.

Mouse problems - I change the settings so that 'tap-and-drag' and 'two-finger-scroll' are checked, close the laptop, or reboot, and the settings have reverted. All drivers are updated.Sound problem - When I have headphones plugged in and close my laptop, when I open it again, it is as if the headphones do not register, and sound plays out of the laptop speakers. I have to unplug and re-plug the headphones in order for it to work.

Hello,  I recently purchased a Thinkpad Yoga 12 (MP1091PE). I love this laptop since it is a major upgrade from my previous one. I finally got an opportunity to really use the laptop for all its features the last couple days, after completing all the updates for windows 10 pro and lenovo drivers and BIOs.  1) OneNote IssueWhen I would be using Onenote 2013 to take notes with the pen and drag the document, I would have no issues. Howver, when I put the computer to sleep and wake it up again, the touch features (like zoome and draging) do not work. This is the same for the scrolling gesture with the trackpad. I would have to close one note and re open it to make it work again.  I have been looking through the forums about this issue, and have not been able to find a fix. Does anyone else have this problem? 2) Notification/Taskbar IssueWhen I would touch the screen to activate the touch screen keyboard to type, I would have not issues. After repeating the same task 5-6 times, the notification section would not respond, the icon for the keyborard would disappear. I would then simply rotate the screen to portrait and back to landscape and that would fix the problem.  I was wondering if there was something I could do to prevent this from happening at all. It is kind of annoying to have to flip the screen to tablet mode, only to rotate the screen to make it work.  3) Touchscreen keyboard issuesThis problem extends a bit mor... Read more

Hi

From what I see you have a Thinkpad Yoga 12 model 20DL. I don't have that model and maybe this is not direcctly focused to your issues, but when I updated to Windows 10 it take me some time to stabilize it.

I can recommend you to check on the drivers of the touchscreen and digiter.

This is your models support site, you can organize the drivers by OS and date so you can be sure to apply the latest:

I recently purchased a ThinkPad Yoga with a OneLink Dock Pro. I am having one issue. When I plug the laptop into the one link I get a constant device disconnect sound over and over until I reboot. This happens most frequently when the device goes into sleep mode NOT attached to the dock and I then attach the device to the dock and wake the device up. It happens in other scenarios too but this scenario causes it almost 100% of the time. It is extremely annoying.  In addition, this scenario also causes my HDMI sound (through my Asus monitor) to not work and switching play devices in Windows 8.1 doesn't work until I reboot. Once I reboot, the annoying sound goes away and my sound devices all work. There seems to be a few one-off scenarios that cause this to happen as well but none I can pinpoint just yet. Has anyone else encountered this and is there a fix?

Answer:Issues with ThinkPad Yoga and OneLink Dock Pro - device constantly "disconnects"

Unfortunately, you are not alone.  The combination TPY with OneLink and OneLink Pro is not (yet?) a stable marriage. See, for example, this very long discussion thread (22 pages, >210 posts, 3 months, and counting...):http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Options-Accessories/Re-OneLink-network-port-flapping/td-p/1358947 Lenovo has still (after 3 months!!) not provided a fix for this issue. In the above thread some workarounds have been posted, which seem to work for some. See Page 15 and page 22, for example. Lenovo is really dropping the ball on this one.

Hi Guys, Looking to consolidate the list of issues I have with my TP since updating to Win10 Fall Creators Update (1709) update. And I am looking for help in resolving the outstanding issues. I have gone through the common resolution methods on this official Lenovo site as well as from this collection of tips. Outstanding issues below. 1. Keyboard AUTO backlight setting is not working, light doesn't come on when its dark on its own.2. Auto screen brightness control is not working3. Screen rotation button is still greyed out in the sidebar as well as settings4. OLED colour profile settings had stopped working and disappeared. (But this fix worked)5. Intel SGX drivers were busted (finally updated on their own via Win10) Now for 1, 2 and 3, I think this is an integrated sensors issue and I have tried uninstalling the Intel Sensor Solution device drivers from Device Manager and then updated the drives through Lenovo Companion. Nothing changed.Windows Update later also installed an update called Intel Integrated Sensor Solution but these issues have not gone away. On a positive note, this Win10 update and the related updates to Synaptics touchpad drivers resolved the issue of the cooling fan being constantly being on (this forum attributed the issue to bad synaptics drivers). Anyone else facing the same issue related to sensors on this machine? As of 5 minutes ago, there were no new updates on LenovoCompanion or on Win10. Thanks

Would really appreciate some help here. I have a Lenovo S1 Yoga - i7-4500U @ 1.80GHz, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD, Windows 10 Home I've had an issue from Day 1 with this laptop - the trackpad does not click properly, and the multitouch goes haywire. The guy at the Microsoft Store sort of shrugged his shoulders, and I always use an external mouse, so I just went with it anyways. Recently, my monitor stopped turning on. The laptop still works - I'm using it right now, connected to an external display. I've tried unplugging+turn off+hold power button for 20 seconds, tried doing the Fn/Alt-F5/F6/F9/etc toggling, and rebooting it several times, all to no avail. At the same time, the Fn key seems to have started mapping to the Left-Alt key. So when I click Alt-F4, instead of closing my window, it toggles the microphone mute. My assumption is that there are (multiple) underlying hardware issues, but wanted to just make sure that there's no obvious software fix that would save me from buying a new laptop. Help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

I explained this on other forum so  I'll just copy it here: "I've got some odd behavior with sounds. It could be normal, I don't know. I hear a faint click sound before and after some sound, for example windows alert sound. Just go to sound options in control panel and play those notification sounds. I hear it like this: first faint clik, then the actual sound, then click again. This happens with speakers and headphones. Have anyone else experienced this? One example of watching youtube videos. When the video starts, first I hear a click and then comes the sound. There's also quite audible hiss when the soundcard switches on. When I pause the video, after about 10 seconds another click and the soundcard switches off, also the hiss is gone. Maybe the audio output is just so bad and that's why there's so much hiss or white noise." It's pretty similar problem than with this post T510 audio speakers clicking before & after all samples played & mutingExcept it happens with speakers and headphones and I don't hear clicking when muting or unmuting. Is there something that can be done or is my sound output faulty?

Answer:Thinkpad yoga - Sound output quality (clicking sounds and white noise)
