Inspiron 3650 solid orange power button light.

Question: Inspiron 3650 solid orange power button light.

I have an Inspiron 3650 i3 desktop pc that is a few years old and seldom used. When not in use it is in sleep mode.
Yesterday i tried taking it out of sleep mode, with no luck, and noticed the power button light was solid orange. After a few tries I hard reset the pc and it would not boot up completely. The fans come on and the harddrive sounds like its working but i get no video and the power button remained solid orange. After troubleshooting from several forums i ended up disconnecting everything from the motherboard and taking out the battery then after replacing it and trying to boot with just the cpu fan plugged in. same result, solid orange power button. The PSU seems to be working fine after troubleshooting it so im thinking its either the processor or mobo that has gone bad. Any suggestions?

Preferred Solution: Inspiron 3650 solid orange power button light.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

1. Plug the computer into a power strip that has an on/off switch. Turn the power strip on. Press the computer power on button to start as normal, but after after one second turn off the power strip switch just long enough for the fans on the computer to slow down, but the amber computer led doesn't turn off and then turn the power strip switch back on. Computer should start and run fine. Computer typically can be shut down for up to 5 minutes and restarted normally--any longer and you have to sue the power strip power switch routine again.Click to expand...

Hi
I've had to replace a motherboard on my Inspiron 3650 as it had a cmos problem. When starting the machine with this refurb motherboard, the power button initially turns white for a second then solid amber, followed by 2 flashes/blinks, then solid amber and this pattern is repeated. Nothing seen on monitor, fans spin as normal. I've tried different ram and another power supply but with the same outcome.
Any ideas what this error code means? Is this motherboard faulty?
Cheers

I first logged out of my computer and came back and I noticed an orange light on the power button. I shut it of and turn it back on about two times with the same results of an orange light. I then shut of the the extension that houses 10 plugs. When I turned on the extension I turned on the computer the power button didn't give off a blue light or orange light. The VGA cable, mouse, keyboard, Ethernet cable are all plugged in. I later removed all the connects to the computer gave it a minute and plugged it all back in. There is a solid green light on the back under the power cable. The fans turn on there is noise coming from inside the computer a soft humming and light fan from the back of the computer. But the power button will not turn on. The monitor light is orange and says "No Input signal Input 2,Go to Power Save." When I switch to input 1 it reads "Cable Disconnected Go to Power Save." What internal issue could this be?

Inspiron one 2205 wont power up.....screen. stays black and. blankIt sounds like it's coming on,, however, cannot see anything...Looks. Like. Blank screen Power light is orangemessage edited by shoskins79yahoo.com

Answer:dell inspiron one 2205 power light stays orange

Check out the reset given in the second link at #2, then the screen as per #3. If it is still the same then responses #1 and #2 (first link) suggest possible items that might need replacing. However, without examining the Inspiron it is difficult to be absolutely certain so it could be expensive just buying things in order to find out. This would need to be weighed against invoking the professional who can look at the unit and should be able to give more concrete guidance. Most things can be repaired but it all boils down to cost. Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Hi,
I have an old Optiplex GX240 that had its power supply break, I recently got another power supply from a different computer. The Power supply is working however there is an orange light on the motherboard and power button that doesn't flash. The ABCD lights on the back of the computer are also not lit.

Answer:Orange Light On Power Button and Motherboard - Dell Optiplex GX240

GX240 requires specific NON PFC power supply.  This unit is 16 years old now and has 512 meg ram of the PC133 variety.   A newer model like an optiplex GX620 or better is still viable.  This system is TOO OLD and TOO Slow to be of any use.

So is this a computer problem or a power cord problem?

Answer:Satellite M110 - Orange light flickers when I push the power button

Hi becks88,

Sounds like a serious hardware problem... Can you start the notebook without AC/DC adaptor or is the adaptor charging the battery?

Try also removing the AC/DC adaptor and battery for one hour at least. After this connect both again and try to start the notebook.

In worst case you need professional help from an authorized service provider? :(

Hi everybody,
I recently inherited an unused PC from work. It's an Optiplex 780 with a faulty power supply.
I replaced the power supply with a working one from an old Optiplex 740 and also had to buy an standard ATX 24 pin to mini ATX 24 pin cable in order to use the 740' PSU in my Optiplex 780.
I have plugged in the power cord (but no mouse & keyboard because I don't have any USB keyboard available) and I expected the computer to show DELL logo as well as on screen POST messages during power up but instead I can see the following :
1) Power button in orange color. No blinking. : according to service manual it means PSU is probably OK and PC has reach booting stage 2.
2) 1,2 & 4 green diagnostic lights are on. This combination (1,2,4) is not listed in service manual so I have no idea on the possible kind of error.
Any suggestions about the possible error and how to fix it?
Kind regards,
Beltrixx
(Manel)

Answer:Optiplex 780 - unknown diagnostic light code 1,2,4 plus orange power button

Hello!  I would unplug everything go into the computer and unplug any cards you have like graphics card and network cards etc. Also unplug your HDD and Optical Drives and plug them all back in and see if that clears it.  I looked at the manuals you did and just combined 1,2 and just 4.

Hi All,
I have replaced a EVGA GT 730 video card with the EVGA GTX 1070 Founder's Edition video card on a Dell XPS 8700. Once the installation was finished I powered the PC on and only got an amber light on the power button. I powered off and replaced the card with the old one, checked for any loose cables, and tested the power supply successfully. I am still getting an amber light with the old card back in. My fear is the motherboard short circuited. Please tell me I am wrong and someone else had this issue and was able to fix it!?

Do you have an upgraded power supply unit? A min 500w psu is required and the 8700 doesn't have that.  see this-- www.evga.com/.../product.aspx  and this-

As I press the power button, it stays orange and I hear a 1 small beep noise. The computer does not turn anything else and fans are not working. And there is the same color light on the motherboard. When the power button is off there is a green light near the power plug and then it turns off as I turn on the power button.
Before this event, the power button was orange and fans were all working. Next the power button flashed between orange and blue then stops and continues about 3 times. Then it turned off all fans and the power button stays orange. (Both senerios were unable to power the monitor, mouse, and keyboard and does not emit a green light around the ethernet cable.)

Can someone tell me for sure that the LED on the power button is supposed to light up?  I swear mine worked.  I sent it to Dell to have the hinge problem fixed, which I see a lot of you had issues with.  Well, when I got it back the light no longer comes on.  Dell is trying to say it never came on.  That this model doesn't have a light.  I said, why does it have the rectangle clear lens for a light?  They just keep saying it doesn't have one.  They said they would send a copy of specs that show this.  Never did.  I have several people that agree with me.  But, looking for more support to confront Dell.

Answer:toshiba laptop battery light solid orange

Probably one of two things. If you have used the computer quite substantially over the two years.....then perhaps the battery's life is up and you need to replace it. The other thing that sometimes happens, is the DC charging unit stops functioning and requires replacement. I suspect the first, and the second would require taking it to a technician...both are gonna cost. Batteries are $85ish/model dependent here in Canada, not sure in the U.S. or elsewhere.

I know this topic has been stated before, but there are no threads that explain the step by step workflow to discovering the cause of the problem.
This should be our goal.
The probIem:
In my case: my Inspiron 620 desktop won't turn on, no light on button, solid orange or amber if you prefer, on board. No whir, no fan. Worked fine yesterday.
It's happened before, quite often actually, in fact, part of me thinks that if I go upstairs and press the button right now, it would whir to life.
Sometimes it goes months without being weird, then it becomes unresponsive, save the steady light, that orange light, like a heartbeat, "I'm still here..."
A bit ago I had to get a new power unit, but I attributed that to a storm, at the time I was fortunate enough to still have the computer under warranty, but this is no longer the case. When I spoke with the very pleasant man on the phone, he walked me through some steps to figure out what the problem was.
I no longer remember those steps.
So the question is: What are the steps to determining the problem my computer is having?
Thank you

Answer:Computer won't turn on, solid orange (amber) light

Hi BC Taylor,
Please follow the below shared instructions to identify the point of failure. First we will try to release the residual charge from the system to check if it powers on or not. Here are the steps:

Disconnect any external peripherals (flash drives, printers, external hard drives) from the computer including the power supply.
Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds.
Reconnect the power supply. Try to restart the computer and check.

If the issue still persists, try swapping the system power cable with monitor power cable if they are identical, else you may try powering on the system using a good known power supply. It can be an issue with the power socket as well, test it on another working power socket too.
If you are still not able to get the system powered on, then most likely the motherboard has failed, and hardware replacement may be required.
Hope this helps. Please reply if you have any questions, I'll be happy to assist you.

When my Dell Inspiron 11 is plugged in, the power/battery indicator light is solid amber. When it's unplugged, it's somewhere between amber and white--almost like a pinkish white. It's charging and working fine both plugged in and on battery power.
Another symptom that has started at about the same time is that the USB ports don't seem to be recognizing hardware and when I ran a diagnostic, I got an error W11US-362 error (haven't figured out where I'm supposed to look it up!).
Any advice about what to do next? Thanks in advance.

Does that mean I have to replace the lamp now?

Hi guys. My brother has a Dell Inspiron 1100. He asked me to look into fixing it, but he is out of warranty, and I told him I would research his problem and see what you guys reccomended. I have the computer too in front of me for the time being, until it's repaired.

He said he turned it off and unplugged it one night. He often times I believe always left it plugged in. Not a good idea to Constantly do I know. He went to turn it on the next morning, and it wouldn't turn on. Plugged in to the wall, or not plugged in.

When you press the power button, the power light quickly blinks green, then the battery light blinks orange quite a few times but that is all that happens. Nothing comes on at all. Does that mean he just needs to buy a new battery? Or is it more severe?

Hi, I have dell Inspiron 560s which doesn't boot up, when I press the power button a solid amber light appears, also the cpu fan is making lots of noise.

Answer:My dell Inspiron 560s doesn't boot up, solid amber light

Hi maximraven,
Thank you for writing to the Dell Community Forum.
The solid amber power light indicates there is a system fault error condition, including the power supply or it could be because the system is in sleep/standby states. Disconnect all the cables from the system and then press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds (Releasing the flea power). Connect the cables back and turn on the system. If this does not work, you could disconnect the cables from the system and then try to reseat the 12 V power connector (ATX12V1) which goes from the power supply unit to the motherboard. You could also check if there is a green light on the rear of the system near the power connector on the power supply unit. Please refer to the service manual using this link http://dell.to/1JHho09.
Please reply if you have any further questions.

I have a Dell Dimension E510 that as of yesterday, won't power up anymore. The power light blinks orange and the computer does nothing when the power button is pushed or held in. It's about 16 months old and is out of warranty, so I'm trying to diagnose the problem myself.

I did some searching on the internet and found that this seems to be a common issue on these Dells, sort of a long term infant mortality issue. The most common causes seem to be a bad PSU, MOBO or a shorted USB input.

I've done some diagnostic checks/testing so far and am now stuck. Here's what I know.

- The USB ports don't appear to be shorted. I also disconnected the connector for the USB (which includes the power switch :banghead and it doesn't change any of the results that follow.
- I removed the power supply and jumped Power On (terminal 14, green wire) of the main ATX connector to ground. The fan comes on and all voltages (3.3, 5 and 12v)check out, including around 5.35v at Power Good (terminal 8, gray wire).
- With the power supply back in and everything connected, there is only 3.3mv at Power Good. As I understand it, this would normaly point to a bad power supply; however, all of the voltages check out when the unit is disconnected from everything.

Is is still possible that the power supply is bad, or is it more likely (or definitely) that the MOBO is the culprit.

Any help, including suggestions for additional testing is greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 which is now refusing to start at all. When I plug in the power, the orange battery light on the front edge flashes continuously. If I press the power button, the fan starts up, but I am getting nothing on the screen and no other lights at all.

Situation the same whether battery attached or not.

Any suggestions on how to proceed would be gratefully received.

Regards,
Iain.

Answer:Dell Inspiron 1525 won't start up - flashing orange light only

Im going to guess a failed battery, power supply problem, or a bad motherboard. The battery will be easy to replace the other ones may or may not be easily fixable.

It's a Dell Inspiron one 2305. I bough the power supply box and tried yesterday but it keeps doing the same.

Answer:Dell Inspiron orange button

The system isn't completing its poweron self test (POST).
Unplug the system and hold the power button for 30 seconds.  Remove and reinstall the memory modules.  Try powering up again.
Service manual\
www.dell.com/.../manuals
if that doesn't get it going, the next step would be to reseat (remove and reinstall) the processor.
Failing that, it's likely a bad mainboard.

I found an old Dell Inspiron 530a in my house, it was stored because it didn’t work anymore, so I got in the job of restoring it. I found out the problem was the PSU, so I replaced it and it worked fine for about a week but 2 days ago, the computer froze for almost 2 hours, so I turned off the CPU. After that, the computer does not want to boot, I press the power button on the front of the PC, and it remains in an orange light, and in the inside, there is also another orange light in the Motherboard. The fans start very loudly and don’t stop until I unplug the CPU or I turn it off from the power button. I have tried these “solutions” for what I think is the problem:

Removing the Motherboard battery
Removing the RAM
Disconnecting the 24-pin from the motherboard
Disconnecting everything from the PSU
Switching the jumpers near the batteries

I don’t know what the problem might be, but I am almost sure that the PSU is not, since I bought it with a higher capacity than the original PSU and I have done the tests with a jumper in the 24-pin connector
The new PSU is a  “Coolmax V-500 Series 500W 120mm ATX Power Supply” and everything else are original Inspiron 530a parts.
Thanks for any assistance you can give me

Hello,

Hoping someone here can offer some advice? I own a Dell studio xps 435t-9000 that is a couple years old. I recently replaced my harddrive and since then (don't know if it's a coincidence or not) I'm having another problem. After I installed it, the first time my computer went into sleep mode/hibernation I couldn't wake it up. Power light was flashing white. Eventually I shut it down manually and then it wouldn't boot. Had a solid amber light, no power except the power supply. Fans not working. I unplugged everything and made sure it was all good. Wouldn't start. Left it overnight and plugged it in the next morning. Started up. Worked great for about 7 hours and then just randomly shut down, no errors or anything. Same deal. Wouldn't start, amber solid power light. Let it sit for awhile, reseated everything and wouldn't start.Gave up for awhile, tried a few hours later and it started. I read a few boards pointing to the power supply being bad or not powerful enough. However, I replaced the power supply about 6 months ago with a Corsair 600 which is plenty power. Could still be an issue perhaps but seems odd it would die in that little time. I also replaced my graphics card if that matters. Finally the last time I checked all the plugs I also took out the board batter for a few minutes to try and "reset" things. Not sure if that matters, either.

So, I'm at a loss where to go from here. I could replace the power su... Read more

I want to add a new hard drive to my new Inspiron 3650 . I have the sata cable but it looks like I need to buy a power cable. What do I need to buy and where do I get it from ? Thanks

Answer:Sata power cable Inspiron 3650

Other way around. The power supply should have a spare SATA power cable available, but you'd need to buy a SATA data cable to connect the new HDD to the motherboard. Any PC shop should have them for a few dollars. You may want one with a right-angle connector to make it easier to connect to the hard drive, especially if space is limited.
NOTE: According to the specs, the 3650 supports two 2.5-inch hard disk drives or one 3.5-inch hard drive. So you may or not be able to install a second hard drive, depending on the size of the existing drive, unless you're prepared to replace the existing drive if it's 3.5-inch.

Hello,
In another post I asked for help about how to power a  C2G 2-Port USB 3.0 SuperSpeed PCI-E Card - Adaptador USB - PCIe - USB 3.0 x 2 sold by Dell Inc.
One respondent said that I could connect it to the power slot #8.
Since the Inspiron 3650 Service Manual was of no help to me (sad to notice how Dell's standards have plummeted in the last 15 years!) I decided to open the Inspiron 3650 and have a look.
As I imagined there was no free power slot either on the mother board or through another power cable.
So please, somebody form Dell could please confirm that it is not possible to add a C2G 2-Port USB 3.0 SuperSpeed PCI-E Card - Adaptador USB - PCIe - USB 3.0 x 2 to an Inspiron 3650 because the needed power cable has no free slot on the power supply?
I tried to get assistance through the phone but every time I posted my question the connection got interrupted.
Thanks

Answer:Is it possible to add a power connector to a Dell Inspiron 3650?

If there is a MOLEX 4-pin connector on the power supply, there are Y-adapters you can use to split a connector to provide power to the card:
www.newegg.com/.../Product.aspx
However, note that fewer and fewer internal components use these connectors now -- check to see if there is one.
If there is not, you will need to replace the power supply with one that fits the chassis and has the required power connectors on it.

Hello
Firstly, I should say I have no idea about any of the workings inside my computer so all help is gratefully received.
Today I noticed a flashing orange light at the back of my desktop tower. Now it might have been there since day one but I imagine I would have noticed it before as the tower is on my desk...
The light is just above the area where the modem cable plugs in. Inside the computer (and here I show my lack of tech knowledge) there seems to be a small box like structure on the motherboard in the area the modem cable plugs into and I can see the light flashing from that. There is a constant orange glow just above it (also emanating from around that box area). The area does not feel hot. Fans are working.
I have turned it on and off and have unplugged the modem cable and plugged it back in but the light continues to flash.
The tower did fall over onto its side about three weeks ago (on a flat surface so not far and it was switched off at the time) but it has worked fine since.
Mountain out of a molehill? Or serious issue?
Thanks

Answer:orange power light

Hi HitDat,
Thanks for writing to us. Do you see green light on the PSU at the rear side? Ensure the power cable is plugged in properly as well as the PSU connector on the motherboard is tightly secured. Re-seat the memory modules one by one and try with one module at a time and check. Regarding the data on hard drive, we would suggest to take the drive to a local store and get it backed up, or you can try the HD on another machine if possible and if it recognizes, you can back up the same.

I have a HP desktop model p6142p case that had a failed motherboard (bad capacitors). After replacing the power supply and a motherboard with one from a DELL Inspiron 546 (because it was only $30 on amazon), the PC functions just fine with one exception: The power light in the HP case instead of normally being blue is amber. I'm not sure if this is indicates an issue or if there's simply an incompatibility with the dell motherboard and the HP power light. There are no known errors from post (single beep on bootup). The case power light is initially blue for about a second when the PC is initially powered on, but immediately turns solid amber from then on. I have ran Dell's online PC diagnostics which detects the PC as an Inspiron 546 with UNKNOWN service tag and reports no hardware issues.

Should I ignore the solid amber light and go on or should I be concerned?

Sounds like the dell board just doesn't
display the same way as the HP.
Might make it difficult to see that the

I don't see it causing any major issues otherwise though.
I have an HP board that flashes green in standby.
That thing was annoying when I was trying to sleep.

Hi. Tonight I had a problem with my laptop. It was in sleeping mode, and when I open the lid there were no mouse function and no touch screen function. So the only thing I could do was to press the power button for 3 seconds to turn it off, but it didn't completely, because the screen turn off, but the power button light is blinking just like when it is on sleep mode, and I'm not sure if the hard drive light was on, off or blinking before this, but now is blinking. I press the power button and nothing happen, I press it for 3 seconds and nothing happen. I even did the HDMI connection to another monitor, but both monitors don't show anything, not even recognize that something is connected to the HDMI port in the new monitor. There is no sound, nothing, just the 2 blinking lights. What should I do? Thanks PS: I'm not sure if it's Windows 10 32-bit or 64-bit. It was upgraded from Windows 8

My Dimension 8200 turned off suddenly with no warning today. It just..died. Annoyed, I turned it back on--tried to at least. The fan still whirled, the CD-ROM drive still spun. The power button, though, glowed a hellish orange where green once shone. Then it sat there and nothing else happened. It didn't boot. The optical mouse light didn't flash. The keyboard lights didn't flash. Nothing.

This has happened before, so I wasn't too concerned. Last time, I panicked for a few minutes and it irrationally and suddenly came back to life as if nothing happened. That was about a year ago or so. This time, though, it's been two hours already and no miracle.

I've read through several threads about similar problems here and at Dell, but I don't want to believe that my motherboard or power supply is gone. Somehow, there MUST be another way. Sob. If anyone has some desperate advice for a desperate guy, please don't hesitate to grace me with a reply. Thank you so much.

Yes, I still have an Inspiron 530 after all these years.  Was working fine in daily use, no recent hardware (or software) changes.  Upon shutdown a few days ago the display briefly showed a checkerboard before turning off, and since then it won't boot.

I turn it on, button goes amber then to solid blue immediately, fans are all spinning, yellow LED shines on motherboard and green LED on PSU lit, HDD makes a few disk-like clicks, but there is no single beep that it always used to make when turning on, and screen stays black then shows "No signal".  I've tried switching from ATI Radeon HD 3650 via DVI to built-in VGA port and still nothing,

Screen is good (tried with different computer), power sockets and leads good (switched), I've changed the motherboard CR2032 battery for a fresh one, removed unused cards (modem card, TV tuner card), removed and replaced graphics card, waggled memory cards.  No change in any case.

Spec is slightly upgraded from 2009 original, but hasn't changed in months.

Original spec
Core 2 Quad Q8200 (2.33 GHz, 4MB, 1333 MHz FSB)
3 GB (2 x 1024, 2 x 512), 500GB SATA 7200 RPM, media card reader, Vista, DVD+/-RW + DVD drives, IEEE 1394 card, Analogue/Digital TV tuner PCIex1
Upgrades (over a year ago)
Now 6GB RAM, 120GB SSD with Windows 7, and previous 500GB HDD moved to be D: drive.
Upgrades a month ago
Windows 10

Any advice on what to test/check would be greatly appreciated - thanks!

Those are excellent troubleshooting procedures you performed.
As there are no 'beeps', there could be a motherboard issue/failure.
Did you remove and replace the memory modules, to see if this made a difference?
No difference, try the following, if you are comfortable working around computers:
Note: The only 100% method of testing a PSU, is to install a known working power supply.Unplug the cord from the power supply, hold the power button in for about 15/20 seconds, open the case, unplug the 24-pin power connector from the motherboard and jump the Green wire to one of the Black wires, reconnect the power cord and power the system, if power supply, case fans and the hard drive run, then the PSU should be good.Note: Do not remove any wires from the plug, use a small piece of wire or a paper clip as a jumper.
Power supply checks out, again disconnect the power cord, hold the power button in again for 15/20 seconds to discharge the residue power, reconnect the 24-pin connector to the motherboard.Remove all PCI cards from the system, take out the video card [if applicable], disconnect all peripherals, except the monitor, mouse and keyboard and disconnect the power & data cables from all drives. Reconnect the power cord and power system on, see if you get a different LED indication on the power button, or 'Beeps'.No difference, remove the memory from the system and try again. Still shows no signs of life then you are looking at a motherboard replacement &... Read more

Hi,

Trying to set up the Netgear WNDR3400 router with my Roadrunner modem. I have an ethernet cable running from the router to my laptop.

The laptop shows that there is not any kind of network access--not LAN, not Internet. Needless to say, I am unable to get to the wireless setup.

I notice that the power light on the router is a solid amber (orange). The 2.4GHz radio light is solild green, the 5GHz radio light is solid blue, the LAN light if off, the wireless light is solid amber, and the four ethernet port lights are all solid green (I am using one port to connect to my laptop).

I tried resetting the router several times. I tried power cycling the modem, router, and laptop several times. Nothing worked. It just seems to me that the Netgear router is dead on arrival.

Is my suspicion correct? Or are the other possibilities?

Thanks!

Answer:wndr3400 router solid amber power light

Hi

The Green for 2.4ghz and Blue for 5ghz are perfect and normal, the orange light is a bit worrying as it should turn to green in less than 1 minute, and if you have powered it off a few times and also reset to factory default a few times I would suspect the unit is indeed faulty, so exchange for a new one. (the Netgear manual on pg 32 also confirms this HERE)

Just as a thought, have you plugged in a Ethernet cable from PC to router and tried to access the routers control panel, then maybe try a router firmware update? but as its likely new why should you go through these motions.

Hi Wacky78900,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that your Y500 Laptop is not turning ON after playing game and turning OFF manually, I suggest you to perform the Flee-Power and check the issue. Below are the steps to check and resolve the issue:

Remove the battery and any other peripheral device connected to the computer.
Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and then connect only the AC Adapter and try to turn ON the computer.

If the issue persists even after performing the Flee-Power and as the computer is in warranty, I would Strongly Suggest Calling Technical Support for Assistance. Click here to open a link where you can select the country and get the exact contact support number. I?m sure they will be a great help.

Do post us back for further queries.

In the last few days I have had an unusual problem. I have an X60 Tablet (about 3 years old) with windows Vista Ultimate x86 and 4 GB RAM. The problem has only happened three times and only when I was on battery power. In each case the battery was well charged  (70 - 90%). In the middle of working, the screen suddenly changed to a solid color (blue once, orange another time, something else another time). No Windows keyboard combo seems to get me back to work. The first time, I powered down and then powered up again (while my heart pounded wondering if it would indeed, come back on). Everyting seemed fine after that. The second time, I used the Fn + F4 combo to put the laptop into sleep mode. Then I brought it out of sleep, logged in and I was right back to whatever work I was in the middle of. I used this same trick the third time. I haven't been able to find any related info searching in the forums or on the web. This is not a blue screen of death. It has the appearance of an LCD problem. Any ideas? Thanks

A few months ago I bought a Dell 4700 off of a friend for $30. It worked great up until a few weeks ago. Everything was normal, I turned it off, but then the next day it would not turn on. Instead of the two normal green lights in the front, there was one orange one. Not blinking. I tried removing cards, RAM, CD and DVD Drives, and even replacing the hard drive. Nothing worked. I now believe it is either the motherboard or power supply causing trouble, but as much as I would like to, I barely have enough money for one. So I really need to know what's wrong before I spend any money. Any ideas?

Hello everyone this is my first post here. I own a dell optiplex 745 with a core2duo 1.8 Ghz processor, 2 gb RAM and have also added an XFX HD 5550 to it. I have been using it since almost two years, and it hasn't caused me many problems except this blinking orange power light.
The problem is just this that the desktop just won't start. All that happens is that the power light just blinks orange. This has happened to it almost four times in the last two years, and the problem has seemingly resolved itself the last four times. Well it would go something like this: I would turn off the PC normally, and the next time i started it all i would get is this blinking light. Then after a couple of days or hours, I would try again and it work as if nothing had happened. But this time it happened four days ago. I turned it off, then switched it on but i got the orange light. Since then, I have tried so many times but this time I fear something much bigger has happened.
Now I have done a decent amount of work in trying to figure out whats the problem. The key thing to note is that its not my PSU (yes i used a different one). Does this mean it's my motherboard which is causing the problem? Or is it something else?
I did a bit of digging up on the internet for the same problem, and I saw one which said something about a faulty power on button       http://www.instructables.com/id/Fix-the-Dell-OLOD-Orange-Light-Of-Death/

Answer:Optiplex 745 Blinking Orange Power Light

According to the Dell manual this is either a power supply or motherboard problem.  It doesn't detail how to further troubleshoot.
Do you get any diagnostic lights? or beeps when you power it on.
But, you can remove the video card to see if the symptom changes.  If not, reseat the memory as a next step.
If neither of these help you are back to either the replacement power supply or a motherboard problem.

Hi, my V3 371 558L's power light (that's the light next to the bulb icon on the laptop) has started flashing orange.  The battery is fully charged and the Acer Care Centre app is returning good battery health.  Any ideas why this has started flashing and how to stop it? Thanks Mark

Yesterday, I was just sitting there watching TV at my computer desk, with the computer on, next thing I know- I look over and the computer was shutdown. I didn't know why, so then I go to turn it on, it will not turn on- and the power button, that should be green, starts blinking orange. I'm not sure what the problem is, I think something might be dead. I have been getting a message that says "Alert! System Battery Voltage Low" for about 2 years, I'm not sure if that would be it or not (Maybe that died? Would that do it? I don't know).

When I try to turn it on, I can see the fan and stuff turn on for about half a second, then everything just turns off except for the mobo light and the orange blinking light. I've tested my brothers working power supply in mine, so I know that mine still works because that didn't fix it. I've taken the graphics card out, that didn't do it either. I don't know what else I could do, please help somebody, I'm lost without my computer... Thank you.

My Optiplex 780
- will not post
- will not beep
- will not output any video

When I push the power button,
- Diagnostic lights 1 & 4 flash
- Power button is of solid amber

When I turn the computer off:
- if I press the Power Supply test button, it illuminates green
If I disconnect the power cable
- A tiny LED on the circuit board (next to AUX PWR label) stays amber for a minute or two.

Diagnostic lights 1 & 4 are not documented in the Dell manual. I have tried to disconnect all peripherals, all drives, all cards, even all RAM, still no POST no beep, no video: just the fan running, and diagnostic lights flashing.

Any hope for this computer?

Answer:Optiplex 780 diagnostic lights 1 & 4 with solid amber power light

Hi CHRISTOZOID
Thanks for writing to us.
Diagnostics led 1 & 4 indicate power connector faulty. Please reseat the PSU connector if not yet done.
If issue still the same, then consider replacing the PSU . Sometimes the PSU connector on the motherboard to be faulty.
Do let us know how it goes post reseating the PSU connector.

I have a Latitude e5540 that doesn't turn on (at least not easily). But when it does turn on, it can stay on for weeks/months as long as it stays in sleep mode. This has happened three times now. If I shut down or reboot the computer, it doesn't turn on again -- or at least it's very difficult to get it on and it seems to randomly correct itself and turn back on.
Here are the symptoms when it doesn't boot up:

Screen is blank.
The Power light on the power button and edge of laptop are both solid white, no other lights on. Power light remains on as long as it's getting power from the battery or power cable. If I press the power button to turn it off, it sounds like it's going through a shutdown process of some sort -- not like windows shutting down, but it doesn't immediately turn off. The fans will spin up for a few seconds, then it will power off after another few seconds.
When power button is pressed, the fans turn on momentarily then spin down after a second. But they will randomly turn back on for a few seconds here and there as long as the power remains on.
HDD sounds like it's on. HDD light on the edge of the laptop is off.

Troubleshooting so far with no noticeable difference:

Removed the battery and power cable, held power button to drain residual power and tried to connect just the power cable and turn it on. Didn't work.
Connected to an external monitor via HDMI to TV -- once the laptop powers on, the TV detects a new source, but... Read more

Hi All,

I have had this Toshiba Equium L350D since September 2008, and it has not been in use that often, it was working fine two days ago, but yesterday I switched it on, with power lead attached, and the "plug" light came on and was solid, and so did the power and the battery indicators, I could hear the fan working and the light on the cd/dvd was on solid. But that was it, no activity from the hard drive at all.

I could not switch it off without disconnecting the power lead and removing the battery as the power button did not seem to perform a shut-off when pressed for 10 seconds.

Any advice, apart from taking it to a repair centre as I do not really want to spend too much money on it.

Answer:Equium L350 powers up (power light on solid) but no activity from HDD

Hi dude

I think you have no other choice as to get in contact with an notebook technician.
The point is that this issue sounds as an serious hardware problem? I think about motherboard or CPU issue because it was not possible to shut down the unit pressing the power button for 10 sec?

The notebook has been purchased in September 2008?
Well? if you have registered the notebook on the Toshiba European driver page then the warranty should be valid for 24month?. And this means that the warranty should be still valid?
So you should not need to pay for anything?

hello,

my friend is having a problem with a netgear n600 wireless dual band gigabit router WNDR3700v3 in that it will not connect to the internet. When you power it up, the power light stays amber. this used to work before but something happened and we are not sure what happened but now it does not work.. I went thru the automatic setup again and that does not correct it.

we contacted the netgear support and the lady had me do a ipconfig and we could not see any ip addresses. she said that the interface settings were corrupt.

the router is out of warranty and to have her correct it, my friend would have had to re-activate the warranty at 199.00 for a two year unlimited plan or a 1 year unlimited plan for 129.00. he did not want to do that.

I am hoping that by submitting this to the forum, we could get this router fixed. I have a linksys router and that is what I will be using to communicate to the forum. my friend has this router hooked to a hp desktop running windows 7. if you tell me to do something with the router, I will have to disconnect my linksys router from my dell windows xp machine and hook it to the netgear.

please let me know if there is anything that you need from me in order to help in correcting this.

thank you in advance for the help

Power light is white, I have always seen white. Power is getting to the computer (runs normally). Battery does charge. When I remove the battery the power light goes to white. When I put the battery back in the power light goes to orange. Power supply problem? Battery problem? Do I need to bleed the power from the computer(forgot how)?

Answer:Newer Toshiba Laptop - Power Light is Orange

Take out charger, then battery, and hold down power button for 20 seconds, insert battery, then plug back in charger

If I want to turn it on, the power light turns into an orange dot...

If its caused by the emty RTC Battery, Where can I order a new one (In Europe?)

Answer:Satellite Pro 2100 - Power light turns into an orange dot

Hi

Normally this has nothing to do with a empty RTC battery. In this case you would only get an error message about a low CMOS battery or something else but the notebook would boot properly.

In your case I assume it?s a hardware problem. Have you already tried removing the battery and AC/DC adaptor for some hours or over night? Sometimes this helps?

Otherwise it would be great to get professional help form an authorized service provider. They can diagnose the notebook and exchange the faulty hardware parts.

I have an optiplex 760 mini tower with the diagnostic lights 2 3 4 blinking and solid amber power light. Ive read that this could be a motherboard or bios failure and I might need a new board. Is there any way I can avoid buy ing a new motherboard?

I think you just need to adjust your Hard Drive's Cables.I also had this problem once.

Hello. So my Dell dimension 4600 just lost mointor/video signal one day. All the fans, drives and CPU were still workin away. I figured ok great my video card is blown(in my case the MB). So I install a new MB. Still no video or monitor signal....I have checked the diagnostic lights on the back and none of them are lite. I have tested the power supply - seems fine. I have unplugged everything other than the CPU, main and second power to MB. I am getting no error beeps. I am so lost here!! I need some help please!! Thanx

Answer:Dell 4600 solid power amber light - no signal to monitor..help!

I would have tried another monitor before buying another board.Try hooking up a different monitor to the computer.  If that doesn't work try another monitor cable. If you have no other monitor, try hooking up your current monitor to another computer.  If it works then it means there's something going on with your computer.  If not, then the problem is most likely that  your monitor is bad.

Good afternoon, couple of days ago my computer which is not paid off yet and out of warranty went into a no boot with a soiid Amber light. When I cracked open the case I found my cpu fan was nearly frozen very stiff to turn. I cleaned it out but now curious if my cpu died or the PSU? The interesting part if I unplug all external perpherals from the computer and test it get the solid amber light and on the back by the PSU the green light is out as soon as I turn on the power. If I unplug the power let the system discharge then plug the power back in before turning on the power the green light on the PSU is lit.
Does this sound like a PSU issue? Could it be the CPU? I'm getting no post beeps or anything powering up. Also is this a specialized PSU or can I use any standard ATX PSU this is in a mid tower. The service code is <ADMIN NOTE:Service tag removed per privacy policy>.
Thank you for anyone's help in advance just frustrating making payments on a paperweight.

Does the processor heatsink fan rotate freely?
Does the power supply fan work?
A solid amber power light indicates there may be a power problem or an internal device malfunction.
The Inspiron 530 Troubleshooter and Diagnostic Codes are HERE.
Most generic standard ATX power supply units can be installed, with either a 24-pin or 20+4-pin main motherboard power connector, with or without the on/off switch.
You should be able to buy a compatible power supply from either a local or online computer store.
Note: A power supply with four SATA power connectors, is required.
The power supply replacement procedure is HERE <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>

Good Morning all,
I have a Dell Inspiron 15 (7559) Laptop.  When I went to go power on the laptop, the keyboard lights up, but nothing appears on screen.  I also noticed the "Battery Light" indicator on the laptop was flashing.  It would flash white four times and then flash orange two times.  In the beginning I thought my laptop had died so I went ahead and charged the laptop.  I was able to charge the laptop, so I'm thinking that the battery is still good.  I'm hoping someone out here on these forums can help me diagnose and resolve this issue before I contact tech support.  Any information you guys/gals can provide is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi there,

I have a Tecra m9 laptop and when I try to power it on, it flashes with an orange light in this sequence:

6 short blinks, 1 long blink, 1 short blink, a gap, and then it repeats.

Does anyone know what the problem is?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Answer:Tecra M9 - no power up, orange light error code sequence

What you see is blinking code. The blinking LED provides an error code. Short means 0 and long means 1.

Hexadecimal code can be ?read? by service partner. When the microcontroller detects some problem with power supply the blinking code will be sent. Unfortunately you cannot do anything alone. Contact nearest service partner in your country and ask for help.

All you can try at the moment is to remove battery and start notebook with AC power supply only.

Hello,   I recently noticed that my Lenovo B590 Laptop Power Indicator Light has been flashing orange. I tried restarting the laptop and making sure all the plugs are secure but nothing seems to effect it. What does the power indicator light flashing orange mean? ~ Laila

Answer:Lenovo B590 Laptop Power Light Flashing Orange

Good day and welcome to the community.

Please have a look at page 7 of your B590 User Guide:
http://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/b490_b43xx_b590_ug_en.pdf
for a description of the color / blink 'codes'.

Basically, a slow orange blink means that the battery is between 5 and 20% charged (and charging). It should change to a slow green blink at 20%.

Hope this helps a bit.
Regards.

Have a Gateway desktop computer about 3-5 yrs old (no model number on back). Computer is constantly left on and about 3 weeks ago, tried to use it (still on) and it saw the orange light and thought it was just in sleep mode or standby and shook the mouse to "wake it up" and nothing happened. We've since swapped the memory, video card and checked the batteries...nothing happened, still won't boot up. Memory was fine and worked in another computer.

Any suggestions or thoughts?
