Toshiba Satellite P50-C-11M - Updates through TOSHIBA Service Station

Question: Toshiba Satellite P50-C-11M - Updates through TOSHIBA Service Station

Greetings, I am trying to update my Toshiba Satellite P50-C-11M through the Service Station, however an error occurs. Please note the laptop is roughly a week old only.

As I press install on the updates I get the following message: "The software update download operation failed. Reason: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {4991D34B-80A1-4291-83B6-3328366B9097}.

I tried the following solutions and nothing worked:
1. Updated the BIOS Independently from the Toshiba Europe Website.
2. Uninstalled the Service Station and reinstalled it again.

Thank you, and I hope this helps others too.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a Toshiba Satellite L10-B with Windows 8.1, which I bought for my wife. The complementary telephone support period has expired, and I need help.

Ever since I bought the computer, I have been wondering how to check for Toshiba updates. I eventually found out there is a program called Toshiba Service Station that is supposed to check for updates automatically, but I had not even seen that program, or any notifications from it.

I went looking for it using the search feature, and now I know where to find it.

I just today tried to manually check for Toshiba updates using Toshiba Service Station, but it is coming up with an error message to the effect that the program could not initialize, and that I would have to reboot or re-install the program. I tried re-installing the program from the support website, and I'm still getting the same error message.

Where do I go to from here?

Answer:Satellite L10-B - Toshiba Service Station not working

I'm currently having a different problem but with my Toshiba Service Station on my Toshiba Satellite P70-A laptop 8.1 notebook/laptop.

I had when Windows 10 free upgrade became available. Had upgraded it to Windows 10. I've been having a couple of issues with my Toshiba since the upgrade. But I'll address them in another thread.

The problem I'm having is the Toshiba Service Station as well. I got a notification alert in Notification Center from Toshiba Service Station. That there was some new updates to download and install. I opened Toshiba Service Station. Clicked the Download button. Waiting for the Download Progress bar to progress across. But it wasn't downloading as the download progress bar wasn't even downloading a small file size update for one of Intel drivers. I'm like waiting and waiting for the progress bar to fill. But only see an inch of the bar filled. The update was only over 300mb to download. My internet speed is fast. So I'm not sure what's taking so long to download.

Please tell me what I should do?

Answer:Satellite C870 - Toshiba Service Station Problem

Uninstall the Toshiba service station from the system.
Clean the OS using CCLeaner (3rd party software which can be downloaded from different websites).
Download the Service Station from Toshiba EU driver page and install it again.
Reboot the notebook.

I have a Satellite P850-12 laptop that is 2 months old. It's never been a fast starting computer, and now Service Station is giving me the error:
Unhandled Program Exception!
Source: Toshiba ServiceStation
Message: External component has thrown an exception.
Target: Void Initialize Component()
Inner Exception: None

(WHY are the error messages not copyable so you don't have to type it out while going back and forth to the error message?)

Anyway, reading on the forums, someone said to go to the Toshiba site, download again, uninstall, then reinstall from the download, which I did - still doesn't work.

It tries to start when the laptop does and it hangs for a long time before giving the error message. Dag gone Windows did another update a few days ago which I had to uninstall because it kept the computer from starting at all so I think that's what took out the TSS.

Any ideas on how to get it working again and leave me alone? Thanks.

Pam

Answer:Satellite P850-12 - Toshiba Service Station Error

It is well known that original recovery image contains many Toshiba specific Toshiba tools and utilities and also some additional applications and almost all of them starts with Windows. That?s the reason why almost every new Toshiba notebook starts slowly.

It can be changed. You must modify start-up option and disable some useless services to start-up with Windows. That?s not a big deal.

Back to your main problem: Toshiba Service Station. This piece of software starts with Windows and inform you about software updates. To be honest this is the first application that I have removed from my system.
Anyway, what you can do is to try to reinstall it. You have done it already but next time after removing it from the system try to clean up the registry entries using CCleaner.

If nothing helps only way to get it work again is to reinstall OS using HDD recovery option.
At the end I must write again: remove it from the system and problem is solved. You don?t need it at all.

Hey guys i need your help,

I installed windows 7 ultimate on my toshiba Satellite A505 s6970, and i downloaded all the drivers for it from http://www.csd.toshiba.com/ and i installed them all.

When i open device manager, 3 devices are not installed (2-Base System Device // 1-Unknown device).
Then i installed toshiba service station (windows vista / 7 32-64bit because my windows is 64) that he will search and download automatically all the devices needed, but it doesn't open on windows 7, it was working perfectly on windows vista.

Also the eco utility isn't working, and the touch media buttons work great but without giving that beep voice.

Thanks for Your Help

Answer:Satellite A505 s6970: Toshiba Service Station isn't working on Win 7

Hi

To be honest I have no experience with this tool.
I?m using Tempro.

However, I assume Toshiba service station was not tested and not designed for Win 7 at this time.
Maybe you will need to wait for next update which would work with Win 7 properly.

You must understand that the Win 7 drivers were published as Beta version? this would mean that the final version would be released in the next time?
In my opinion you should take a look from time to time on the Toshiba US page.
I noticed that every day new drivers are released and published?.

Hi,

Recently every singly time I use my Toshiba Satellite A500 I get an error message 'Toshiba Service Station stopped responding'.

1) I start up the computer. All good.
2) I go into internet explorer, ms word or ms excel (my three most frequently used apps)
3) In the process of that app coming up I get this error message.
4) The error message sits for about about 30 seconds to a minute. Then the program continues it's start up process and I can continue working without further issues.

While nothing serious appears to have happened it is extremely annoying (especially when you are in a hurry). What could be the reason for this error message and what can I do to fix it?

Thanks!

Answer:Satellite A500 - Toshiba Service Station stopped responding

To be honest I don?t know why this happen but what I can say is that this application is not so important and you can remove it from the system. I have done the same and I?m not missing it at all.

I have a Toshiba Satellite L500 PSLS0A-019002 with Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed that I received two months ago as a gift.

Apart from disliking some the quirky and useless (to me) Windows Vista / 7 features, as the desktop is loading I get the error message "Toshiba Service Station has stopped working" which proceeds to find a solution, but apparently never finds one because this condition repeats itself every time I boot.

On another thread in these Toshiba forums, someone suggested downloading the independent utility called Toshiba Service Station and reinstalling it. I do not see such utility listed on the downloads page for my Toshiba model. Since I don't even know what the Toshiba Service Station does (unless it goes by another name - Toshiba Bulletin Board perhaps?), I have no idea what is causing the error or how to correct it.

Does anyone have a more precise solution?

Hi,

Service Station is not currently active in Australia, so you can simply uninstall it.

I have a Satellite L850-0C9 laptop and Toshiba Service Station is recommending I install the new BIOS update labelled "Satellite Pro C850 BIOS Update - v6.50".

Should I install this as its not the same model as my laptop,
If not why is Service Station recommending I install it?

Answer:Satellite L850/0C9: Toshiba Service Station recommending wrong BIOS update?

I assume this is your notebook and these are all the drivers and BIOS available for this notebook model:
http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/computers/satellite/l850/pskdla-0c900r/download

The latest BIOS is v6.50 and it looks to be the right one.
The Pro C850 seems to belongs to the same series so possibly the BIOS is the same.

However, the BIOS update is always an sensitive procedure and from my point of view it?s not really necessary if you don?t have an serious problems.

Is it better Toshiba Service Station Vers. 2.6.13 or MSI Wizard Toshiba Service Station last update on 02.26.2015?
Also why, if I remove the first in favor of the second it will be unable to put it back in the future?

Answer:Toshiba Service Station v2.6.13 vs MSI Wizard Toshiba Service

MSI Wizard Toshiba Service isn’t known to me but Toshiba Service Station is preinstalled on most Toshiba notebooks and tablets and this software notifies you about the new software and driver updates.

It’s a nice tool in order to keep the software always up to date.
Therefore I would not recommend you to remove this utility from the system.

Nevertheless if you already removed this utility, you are able to download this software from the Toshiba driver website.

The message is simply telling you that the installer has made no changes to the computer, the software has not been partially installed. Does the software advertise compatibility with Windows 10? There may be compatibility issues.

Is there anybody on here that has a Toshiba laptop that knows if the Toshiba Service Station is an important utility to keep because everytime I start my computer the program comes up and prompts me for a software update for Internet Explorer, so any feedback about this program is appreciated

Answer:Question about Toshiba Service Station

I've seen it and think it merely duplicates what Windows Updates can do for Windows. It may help with the other programs bundled with the computer. My wife has a Toshiba from Sept. but she hasn't had a need for the program.

I came into possession of a Satellite L655 that is just over 4 years old with a failed HDD but I put in a used HDD and installed Win10TB, works very good. Only had to download the Win8/8.1 Video driver to get better than 1024x768 resolution.

Seems to me a bit of confusion regarding the 2.2 versions and the 2.6 versions, when you click on the V2.6.16 you get a screen shot of version 2.2.13 that lets you dnload at a lot faster speed and multiple dnloads

Version that I had was V2.6.8 listed for Windows 8.1 no new listing for Windows 10.

V.2.6.8 is now upto version V2.6.16.0 dated 2015

V2,2.13 is now upto V2.2.15 dated 2016 and a much larger file about 2.5x bigger than V2.6.16.0

Can any one explain ?

All my P500 gets is the followup message Microsoft is investigating the problem.
but nothing seems to be happening.

Answer:Toshiba Service Station has stopped working

Almost 2 years I own Satellite P500 and it is definitely my best Toshiba machine I had until now. My machine still runs with original BIOS version and original preinstalled recovery image.

I?ve removed Toshiba Service Station after first start and don?t want to have such programs running n the background slowing down notebook?s performance and inform me about some updates that I actually don?t need. All I install are Windows important updates and updates for antvir application. Nothing more than that.

Anyway, if you have problems with Toshiba Service Station, remove it from the system and install version offered on Toshiba download page - http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

Toshiba OEM software is often specific to each model. You need to go to Toshiba support and look for the downloads appropriate to your model, here...
Drivers & Software Support | Toshiba

Unlike my Toshiba, yours appears to be officially supported for Windows 10, however the Service Station is only available for your PC in versions for 7 and 8. It does not seem to be supported for Windows 10. This may not be a bad thing though, apparently it needed patches to fix security vulnerabilities: Toshiba Service Station Security Update

PC World said:

The Toshiba Service Station application creates a service called TMachInfo that runs as SYSTEM and receives commands via UDP port 1233 on the local host. One of those commands is called Reg.Read and can be used to read most of the Windows registry with system privileges...

Edit: Until a few minutes ago I did have the W8 version installed on my W10 machine. It seemed to run OK, but I never accepted the T&C when I read just how much info Toshiba wanted to collect - it has just been uninstalled

Answer:Re: Toshiba Service Station - Cyberlink Power DVD Update

Hi Ben

Pretty often messages from service station can be confusing. You have new notebook and if everything works perfectly you don't need to install any update, especially not for DVD player.

As far as I know service station just offers information about updates but you are not forced to do this.
I use my notebook since more than three years with original factory settings and I didn?t install any update for drivers or preinstalled software. Everything works well and stabile. Why to change anything?

To be honest I never heard about such application and maybe is this some country/continent specific application. I have European model and we have some similar application called TEMPRO. This application runs in the background and inform user about some new updates or driver downloads.

I don't know if this Toshiba service station is designed for the same purposes but I can tell you for sure that this application is not so important and you can live without it. I have removed TEMPRO from the system. In my opinion, if you have such problems with it, just remove it from the system and problem is solved.

The Toshiba Service Station is a stand alone application and can be downloaded from the Toshiba driver page?

Hello there,

there was recently a "patch day" in Toshiba Service station. I believe from my memory the patches came out earlier but I installed them on 23 april 2010. There were three patches and as far as I can reconstruct from the system recovery it were:

- BIOS flashing
- HDD/SSD Alert patch
- HDD Recovery patch.

So, besides that I had problems getting the BIOS flashing patch to run, eventually succeeded by extracting the installation files to a different location and run it with administrator rights.

My problem is, that after this patch session, my Toshiba Service Station does not start up any longer. When I start my system, after logging on it seems to start up but then always closes again with the windows error report saying "stopped working" and that's it. I am not sure of which patch this could be. Also I believe that one of these patches said in the description that it will update Service Station itself?! I downloaded Service Station from the Toshiba Website but it will not turn out to the better, doesn't matter if I uninstall it before, start the installation with administrator rights or not.

My system is Satellite A500, Windows 7 64bit.

I hope you can help. Unless I cannot access updates any longer!

Answer:Qosmio X500-128, taking forever to boot also Toshiba service station error

Hi

Toshiba Service Station is a simple tool/software.
If this has stopped working, then you should try to reinstall this again.
For that visit the Toshiba European driver page and download this tool for your notebook model.

Regarding slow boot;
I?m not quite sure what?s wrong here?
Maybe you should firstly check the HDD? for that you can use the free software called Drive Fitness Test.
You said you have checked all background processes?
You can try the CCleaner too.
The cleaner cleans the registry and you can edit the msconfig and autostartup too using this tool.

Hi everyone,
I have a "Toshiba Satellite Pro A10: P4-M 2.2 GHz/XP Pro/15" TFT/40 GB/768 MB".
I installed the Windows XP Service pack-2 in my notebook.
After updating to winXP SP2, the only way to start up my comp after putting it in "standby mode" or "hibernation mode" is to witch power off and then start up.
I reinstalled "Toshiba Power Saver" but nothing came of it.

What can i do about it?

Kind regards,
Krasteff

Answer:Toshiba Satellite Pro A10,Windows XP Service Pack 2

Obviously does the Service Pack 2 not match with the preinstalled Power Saver.

First facility you have is to wait for an updated Toshiba Power Saver version which is XP Service Pack 2 tested. But till then you have no "Standby" or "Hibernation".

Second facility. If you need the "Standby" or "Hibernation" Function, uninstall the Service Pack2 and wait till their is a solution for the Power Saver Problem.

Sounds both not perfect, but I think the second facility is the best way. Toshiba will surely bring a new Service Pack 2 tested Power Saver version.

-Insert just the battery and attempt to boot the laptop.
-Insert just the power adapter and attempt to boot the laptop.

If still unsuccessful: Remember to remove battery and power before removing/installing components

Hi.

I?ve been told on this forum that I shouldn?t download anything unless I really need to but what happens when Toshiba tells me to update certain things surely I?m meant to?

Is it just Toshiba tempro that I go with if I need any alerts or does anything else let you know you need updates?
Is there anything I need to do to keep my notebook as finely tuned as possible as I don?t understand a lot so be gentle with me please.

I?ve also done my 2 Toshiba disc creator so is that me sorted if anything ever happens to my notebook?
Thanks a lot

Answer:Satellite L - Must I download Toshiba updates?

I wrote in your other thread and I just want to repeat what I wrote. You must not install ?Toshiba updates?. If preinstalled tools and utilities run well and without some errors it is not necessary to change anything.

I use my Satellite P200 almost one and half year and still with ?factory settings?. Only installed updates are from Microsoft. Nothing else.
It is very good that you have created recovery medias. This medias you can use to install Vista again if something goes wrong (virus attack).

Please don't worry about anything. Just enjoy your new ?toy?. ;)

Hi,
My laptop cannot tell me any post after the Toshiba logo just black screen. Cannot get into the bios or anything... These are the things I have tried:
Taken hard drive out,
Taken ram out and only tried one..
Taken Battery Cmos battery out for a few minutes..
Had a look at the motherboard and fan is not even working when I turn it on..
I have taken the cpu and put it back in..
Defiantly Sounds like the motherboard problem but want to know if its just a chip that needs to be replaced and soldered.. If anyone has any ideas that will be awesome.

Thanks

when using the above card, and TRENDnet TEW-311BRP WireLess Broadband Router, I cannot get a stable connection.

It always connect and disconnect me.

I use this machine and card all over the world: airports, hotels, offices and it works great.

I asked the dealer to replace the 311. Same problem.

However, if I stick TRENDnet PCMCIA card and disable the Toshiba Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card, I connect w/o disconnections.

any idea?

I have bought a new Toshiba C70-A-126 yesterday,
I just wonder if I have to check all the updates available on the Toshiba web site or just all the updates downloads automatically when I sign on in the internet?

There are more than 39 new updates for this kind of laptop and I do not realy know what to choose and I am afraid of downloading a wrong update which leads to a problem.

Answer:Satellite C70-A-126 - do i have to check all updates from Toshiba page?

Hi

Your notebook is preinstalled and preconfigured so you don?t need to check anything if your notebook is running properly.
In case you will get some problems with graphic card driver or WLan, you could try to update such drivers. But until everything is OK I would not change anything.

Hi...

I had been using Toshiba A30 for a pretty long time but I had some serious problems and contacted local Customer Support Dept... But I thought it's better to contact Toshiba Europe or Toshiba Worldwire regarding my concern...

Thanks..

Hi

What a strange question?.
If you have some problems with you notebook you have to contact the authorized service provider in your country.
The technicians should help you.
But listen; if your notebook is out of warranty (and I think it is) you will have to pay for the reparation!!

But what?s a problem with you unit???

I came back from a nice weekend away to find a Toshiba laptop awaiting me for repair. The problem was simply, the service pack 1 install failed and making laptop to boot loop. When booting up Windows, The "Windows is loading files" loader appears, then a pop up says that the start up repair option is trying to find the OS. After a few seconds, I get this message "Windows cannot repair this computer automatically". So, I selected an option just below that which says "View advanced options for system recovery and support". This allows me to select the keyboard input type, which I select the UK method. After selecting this, I get this error message "You must log in to access System Recovery Options.....". At this point, it should ask for a user and password, it does not. I press OK to restart and back to square 1.The next thing I did to press F8 on boot to access the repair your computer option. This was still the same error message! The other option I had was to boot from a Windows 7 cd for repair. Selected language and such at first and selected the Repair your computer option. From this, it searches for the OS on the HDD, it detects as Windows 7 so I press next on there. After this, I see all the options to start up repair, system restore and such. I decided to select system restore! It found 1 system restore which I needed to help the laptop boot again, so I selected it. Now I have another pop up message saying "You must always resto... I have A100-599 with Vista pre-installed. As you know there is Toshiba Power Saver bundled with vista mobile power settings. Not always, but sometimes when I turn on the computer and windows starts I get this message "Toshiba Power Saver service couldn't start".

When I checked in Control Panel->System->Services if the service indeed off I saw that it did start and is running.

Can someone tell me why this message sometimes pops up? Is it a software issue or may be there is a problem with the hardware?

Answer:Satellite A100-599: Toshiba Power Saver service couldn't start

hi,

The simplest way to solve this issue is to recover the OS with the Toshiba recovery CD.
In this case all programs and the whole OS should works without any problems.
You have suggested that you have the recovery CD. Use it.
Before you will start this procedure, make a backup of your all important files

OS:- Windows7 Ultimate (32bit)

On Windows Start up I get a service stopped notification - "TOSHIBA Power Saver service has been stopped so settings cannot be changed."
This is the only issue other than the known Windows 7 change in behaviour where the Eco Power Saver side button no longer works but by the usual Control Panel/Power Options I can select and change Power plans as normal. So this is just an annoying pop up on start up.

Advice on preventing the annoying notification welcome.

Hi Rob,

Have you tried to reinstall Toshiba Value Added Package? It contains the Power Saver where you get this error message. You can download it here:

I would also recommend reinstalling the Eco Utility.

Do you mean Windows Updates?

If so, how about a System Restore prior to the time you did the updates? After that, go back to Windows Update and see what's offered to you, but be more careful about what you accept.

Or maybe you can undo individual updates through the Control Panel.

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience using a Non-Toshiba supplied "docking station" on a Toshiba consumer grade "Satellite" laptop ?

I had purchased one of Toshiba's PA3575U-1PRP dynadock U Universal USB Docking Stations, but found the video performance so bad that I returned it. Even non-movie type applications, such as loading web pages, were excruciatingly slow, choppy and painful. And yes, my Toshiba laptop is up to the task being a late model with Dual Centrino Core 2 processor / 2-GB RAM / 7200RPM drive / 128-MB of shared video.

I see where both Belkin and Kennington offer similar units. (Note, on the NewEgg site the Kennsington model is also rated as being very poor in video response as well !!) There may be others ?

What has been your experience and your recommendation ??

Ideally, I want to be able to connect my Toshiba laptop with a single cable and not have to mess around screwing in the monitor cable, along with plugging in the PS2 plugs for the mouse and keyboard. Something you have to do if you simply rely on just a USB port extender.

Thanks

Did the buttons work with the previous OS preinstalled by Toshiba?

I think the problem is the Windows Server 2008 enterprise sp1 x64?
Possibly the Value Added Package does not support it fully?

Of course the Windows Server 2008 OS is based on Vista but it?s not the same and I think this is the problem?

I don't understand how the registry patch update works, i downloaded and extracted the update as asked into a temporary folder but there was no install setup and i'm pretty sure i didn't install anything unless the system installed it itself without asking me. I want to know how this registry patch works and how it is installed.

And the disc creator has wasted over 15 empty DVD with the same error code 380381-26-2A030C00. I don't know what to do about it, i've tried microsoft fix it software and deleted the upper and lower filters in the registry but still, i can't burn CD's.

Help me. Thanks.

Answer:Toshiba registry patch update and Toshiba disc creator issues

Hi

I?m a little bit confused?
What Disc Creator patch do you mean?
What notebook do you have exactly?

On the Toshiba European driver page I could find some patches like recovery patch.
But this is Registry Patch for System Restore.
After downloading the zip folder, you should unzip this package? then you will find one exe file? this file needs to be unzipped too! Right click on this file and choose unzip here.
Now you should find some additional files and one of the files should be an install.exe?

However, in your case I recommend testing other disk like DVD-R from different manufacturers like TDK?
I use DVD ?R and never had any problems using such disks?

I wonder if there are any Techheads out there looking for a challenge?

I have a new Toshiba LCD HDTV that I want to use as the primary and only monitor for my Toshiba Satellite laptop.

I want to eliminate the laptops screen altogether.

I would like to know if there exists a connector or some other way to connect my laptops ribbon cable output to a VGA output and then to the HDTV via a VGA cable; or if there is a better way to go?

The screen on this 4year old laptop got cracked so I have to spend at least $75.00 for parts alone and if I go that way I might as well buy another laptop, or use a desktop with a wireless keyboard which will cost more than $100.00 to set up.

Besides, this seems like a kinda cool fix so if anyone has any bright Ideas, please respond.
Thanks

Notebook information: Toshiba Satellite L505-S5990, Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit

About a month ago I was on my notebook browsing clipart on Office.Microsoft.com when a window popped up in the lower right corner (taskbar). The only anti-virus I was using was Windows Defender and running IOBit360.

I will tell you what I remember. The window borders in the pop up were red, it presented itself as a Microsoft Windows product and it stated I was infected with a virus. There were 2 or 3 buttons to click and I clicked one of them which prompted me to buy the product, I did not do this. I closed the window, again and again, and downloaded several anti-virus, anti-spyware, and anti-malware free programs in addition to system optimization software. Several threats were found and removed (unfortunately I do not have the logs for these events) but the startup was getting slower and slower and I believe my settings were being hijacked. Over the last several weeks, I did a little amateur investigation to see what was running in the task manager. I came across a process that I was not familiar with and that I had not seen previously, taisregistpinger.exe. I performed about a half dozen factory restores which only seemed to make things worse until on 3/12/2011 after the last factory restore on the original factory hard drive, the desktop was now a blue screen with big bold red font that read: WARNING, your computer is now infected with malware/spyware (I can't remember). It had a coupl... Read more

Hi

First of all you should only update the BIOS if you have serious problems and if you know that the update will solve the issue.
Secondly the wrong BIOS or the procedure can damage the notebook!!!
Well, if you use the Windows automatically update and if you update the Anti virus applications so you are on the safe side.

I am quite confused as to what updates I should download...

Answer:M70-144 : What Toshiba-updates should I download?

Hi Henrik

As far as I know your unit is pretty new and believe me you don?t need any updates when the operating system runs stabile. If you have some specific problems than you can try to solve it installing some updates.

Until the unit runs well leave it. Only thing that you should do is Windows update but it is with SP2 anyway set to automatic.

Good luck!

I have downloaded Toshiba Service Station 2.1.33 and it says there are no updates?

But then doesn't tell you where or how to download Service Station, so I searched and found version 2.1.33.

To be honest ?Toshiba Service Station? is not known to me but it must be something like ?Tempro? for European notebook models.

Anyway, I don't understand your problem. Do you know how this ?Toshiba Service Station? works?
This program check if some update is available. This update mean update for any preinstalled driver, Toshiba tool, utilities or even BIOS update. If you got info there is no update than continue to work with your notebook as usual. Nothing must be installed.

If preinstalled ?Toshiba Service Station 2.1.33? runs well everything is OK.

You'll have noticed the nice T icon in your address bar for this forum.

To use this distinctive icon for any shortcut to a Toshiba application or your user guide just follow these steps:

1/ Create a directory somewhere to store the icon you are about to extract.

2/ Access this forum in your browser.

3/ Go to your +Temporary Internet Files+ location (different between XP & Vista)

4/ Look for the icon with name {color:#0000ff}favicon.ico{color} alongside the name [http://forums.computers.toshiba-euorpe]

5/ Copy this file into your icons location created at step #1 and rename the file (e.g. {color:#0000ff}Toshiba-T.ico{color})

6/ On any shortcut to which you want this icon applied, simply right click on +properties+, click +change icon+ and point to your newly saved {color:#0000ff}Toshiba-T.ico{color}.

That's all.

Hi

this does not feel directly related to ServicePack 2.
You say you have to have an electrical cable to be able to start up. Ok, what happens if not? Do You get an error message, a warning (if so, what is the error message or what does the warning say) or does the machine simply not start at all (in this case means no lights go on, no text on the screen)? Please be more specific and I'll try to advice.

I have lost all sound and there is the "x" next to my speaker icon on the bottom right. I have read what other people have done here and none of the fixes have helped.

If I right click on the speaker icon, I get the "Would you like to enable Windows Audio" message. If I say yes, I do NOT get an error. It goes to the screens about my audio.

But my audio is obviously not working. So I go to the Windows Audio in the Services section. It is on automatic but not running. When I try to run it, I get the message: "Windows could not start the Window Audio service on the local computer. Error 1079: The account specified for this service is different from the account specified for other services running in the same process."

I have looked at all of the dependent services: Plug N Play, Multimedia Class Scheduler, Remote Procedure Call, Windows Audio Endpoint Builder. Those are ALL automatic and Running.

I saw someone mention something about going to the Registry Editor to remove dependencies but I couldn't figure out the registry (looked like lots of gobblegook to me) but since all of my dependent processes are running just fine, I don't think that would be the answer anyway.

Any other ideas of what I can try?

Also, All of my sound drivers are working properly and I have no error messages that I can find

You're absolutely right. DON'T try modifying the registry for this problem. Is far more likely to do damage then any good

A few thoughts...

1. I'd first attempt to simply uninstall then reinstall your audio drivers. To uninstall, look in Ctrl Panel->Program and Features and look for your audio to uninstall. Locate the driver download from the vendor website for your computer to reinstall

2. If reinstalling doesn't solve it Also, take a look at Reference Guide to Help Setup and Troubleshoot Windows Audio and Sound Cards

3. Tho I'll also mention that SOMETIMES malware can be what interferes with audio service and prevents it from running. I mention this to also keep in mind because you say Windows Update is also reporting errors. Both your audio and Windows update problem might due to malware.

Hi,

I'm tired of manually updating my drivers and toshiba software, because Service station does not show any update or alert. I have relied on Tempro Alerts and on manual comparison of versions and dates.

Has anyone had the same problem? Any solution for it?

Answer:Satellite R630-112 - Service Station has never showed any update or alert

Hello

Why you try updating the drivers? Do you have any problems with the notebook?

All drivers and tools you can download manually on official Toshiba driver download page:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

Toshiba Service Station can download and install updates automatically. Normally you don?t need this but if it?s not working try reinstall the applications. You can find it on Toshiba page too :)

I recently bought a Toshiba laptop, model C55-A5302. The fine print on the box says that this Toshiba device automatically sends data back to Toshiba and searches for updates. It came with Windows 8. How can I disable these communications? Would installing Linux over Windows fix it or did they do this in the bios?

Answer:Solved: Toshiba tracking and auto updates

Toshiba computers come with a lot of "bloatware" and place a lot of entries in the startup list and in the services list.

A number of those entries, including the ones that "phone home", can be disabled without negatively affecting your computer.

I've never used Windows 8, so I'm not familiar with how to access the startup list and the services list in it.

Here is how you do it with Windows XP and Vista and 7:

(Startup list)

Click Start, then type MSCONFIG in the search or run box, then press Enter.

When the small "System Configuration" window appears, click the "Startup" tab.

(Services list)

Click Start, then type SERVICES.MSC in the search or run box, then press Enter.

When the "Services" window appears, expand it so you can see the list more clearly.

Hi I'm a basic user and not that tecnically minded can install, uninstall programs do windows updates but have been bit baffled by this Toshiba Tempro tool.

Do I really need to use it as am really pleased with way my laptop works, no graphics problems(so do I really need to update my driver), no start up issues its working fantastically and what scares me most about using this tool is, I play a computer game called The Sims 2 and on my other desktop I did some updates on advise of a tech support agent and it messed up parts of my game.

So now am scared, no terrified actually, of using anything except windows updates that touch wood have been harmless to my game on my desktop for the 18 months it was connected to the internet.

So can anybody tell me honestly is it 100% necessary to use this tool as I surf the net, email, play my Sims 2 game, write letters(then burn to disk or copy to flash drive as not connected to printer) and thats it really so do I need to use this tool.

Any help would be much appreciated as am not technically trained and playing my game takes my mind off my disability when its causing me pain and don't want to risk upsetting my laptop or wrecking more parts of my game if not really necessary considering what I use laptop for.

Also if anybody can help if they tell me how to give them brownie points, help points whatever it is you can get on here will definitely do that as really would appreciate any help.

Answer:Toshiba Tempro Utility and driver updates necessary?

Hello.
Ok, to be honest with you, if your notebook is working fine and you don't experience any trouble or anything like that, then I can tell you, you don't need to update drivers or use utilities.

Just do this, when you really have problems with your hardware or things are messed up. But it seems to me, you're happy with your machine just as it is now.

I hope, I could help you not to get too worried about all that.

I am running windows 7- 64 bit on my Toshiba L850 part no: PSKDLE, when prompted by Tempro I download the recommended driver update but once downloaded my peazip says...

Archive is not readable. Would you like to try a password?

Then asks for a password or Keyfile to open and extract the file. What is wrong and how can I fix it?

Answer:Why are Toshiba driver updates asking for passwords to open?

If there is some problem with specific Toshiba driver please post the link or let us know which driver do you mean exactly that we can see what are you writing about.

I would like to test it on my machine.

Hi all, I was recently given a laptop to reinstall Windows 7 on to and for some unknown reason once it does the first set of Windows updates it very quickly blue screens on load up and keeps rebooting doing the same thing each time. I tried reinstalling it with the 64 bit version instead of the 32 bit version and it just does the same thing after that's updated too. The BSOD is so quick you literally wouldn't see it if you blinked.

It works absolutely fine until it updates and then this happens, I've tried reinstalling it several times but times but getting nowhere.

Does anyone have ideas how I can find out what's going on and how to stop this happening? It also blue screens before it loads into Safe Mode too. Really annoying

Just to add, I've replaced the memory and even the hard drive. Same thing occurs!

Answer:Toshiba A300D BSOD after updates on both 64 and 32 bit versions of Win

I managed to tap F8 and disable the automatic shut down and now the BSOD stays on the screen without instantly rebooting.

Here is a photo of the BSOD.

almost daily my toshiba laptop prompts me to install updates when I shut it down. I assume it is a windows vista thing, but I never get any info on what the updates are or what they relate to.just 3 to 8 or 10 updates nearly every day when I go to shut down.why is this?

Answer:toshiba laptop- Install updates and shut down

It's probably the same updates failing each time. Start off by going into Control Panel, click on the 'Windows Update' button and then choose 'view update history' on the left - that will tell you which updates have failed & you can start Googling to see if others have had the same problem. Usually it's one update that has stuck & stops the rest from installing."I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..."

Hello,
My friend's in the market for a new computer; for various reasons, it looks like Toshiba will be the brand of choice.
(foremost among them being local-area service/support in Indonesia, where she'll be for 3+ years).
That said, the only Toshibas that we've been able to get some hands-on 'look and feel' sessions with were
the Satellites (i.e. the entry-level machines); they were... OK... the build quality felt... well, retail-ish =p
Anyone have experience with the next tier up, the Satellite Pro models?
Presumably the build quality is at least on par with the Satellites; any better? Appreciablly better, that is?
If simply on par, she may as well get a Satellite and take her chances...
Thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

I didn't find the right solution from the internet.

Portege M200 - CPU runs only at 600 MHz

I have a Portege M200 with a Dothan Pentium M 725 supposed to run at 1.6 ghz but posts a 598Mhz
clockspeed. I updated the bios to 1.8.

I read in a previous 'locked' post ...... :
http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=63390

...there is supposedly a DOS base utility from Toshiba to solve the issue. .
it is said it is not a Bios issue.....................

Can anyone direct me to this utility?

Thanks!

Gary

Answer:Portege M200 - CPU runs only at 598 MHz ! Toshiba DOS Base Service Tool

The answer is here...thank all and whoever is responsible:

http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Qosmio-Laptops/598-MHz/td-p/194566

The key is a utility called ' pom200t1 '

You will need the following.

A floppy or if you don't have one an external floppy drive, or if you are savvy to be able to boot a file from a CD-Drive.
You will also need WinImage as all the files you download come as .ima files
Download pom200t1-V1.5.zip and pom200t1.zip (if one doesn't work the other should).

You can find them here:

http://www.stormpaintball.com/toshiba/pm765.bin (this one is a last ditch attempt).
Then follow these instructions from the site I posted before:

Symptom:CPU stays at 598 MHz constantly.

*Procedure:*

1) Boot into BIOS. (Press "Esc" during the boot process, before the OS loads, but after entering your password, if you are using boot-time password protection).

2) Look under the "Others" category.

3) If the motherboard doesn't have enough information about the CPU, the category "Dynamic CPU Frequency Mode" will be blanked out (you won't see it).

If the laptop is in this condition it will never go faster than 598 Mhz until you perform the following procedure.
Note: Although this utility says that it is for a Toshiba Portege M200, the particular fix you need might work on other Toshiba laptops.
It has worked on 3 different Toshiba Satellite Pro M15 S405s, but *USE AT YOUR OWN RISK*.

1) Boot into Windows and create... Read more

Hi,

Toshiba service station told me I needed to do an update and install something, so I trusted it and went ahead, but when I clicked on it, it started running Insyde Flash and a file

03.52.42.BIOS_V5.00_win.exe

The reason i'm asking is it just all didn't look right, the Insyde Flash program looked very amateur and weird
and also, when windows conrtrol thing stepped in, it said from an unknown publisher (which i didn't like) but seeing as it came directly through toshiba service station i thought it was ok.

It all seems to be running ok but when I ran my anti-virus it found a problem directly at that time - a generic trojan horse.

Was this update through toshiba service station legit?

Thank you.

Answer:Satellite P50 service station update bios (insyde flash) - was it legit?

Just after I posted this it froze and the cursor has completely disappeared and it's unworkable. I don't know what to do.

i've never had so many problems with a computer, this is the 2nd toshiba I got because the one a few days ago kept freezing.

I work from home... please help... im absolutely desperate .

Multiple threads doesn't help you get your problem solved, go back to your other thread and take it one step at a time, follow directions and ask when you don't understand.

Answering questions that are asked of you also is very important.

Greetings,

I will get the following message "Restart your computer to finish installing updates. Automatic restart will occur in "X" days, where "X" represents the number of days before the restart:

1.) When will the computer restart? Unlike my Windows 7 desktop PC, there seems to be no way to regulate the time interval?

2.) Will the auto restart occur if the laptop is in sleep mode with the lid closed and plugged into an AC outlet? Early indicators are in my case, I had the computer in sleep mode and the next day, the updates did not install. I had to restart manually to get them.

3.) All updates for Windows on the laptop are set to auto update and default settings.

Hello,

Does Windows Update include any Toshiba driver updates?

And if so, do you know what drivers are included in Windows Update and wich would be excluded?

Thanks...

Answer:Does Windows Update include Toshiba driver updates?

Hello

Toshiba and Microsoft updates are two different things.
Toshiba drivers are offered by Toshiba and these drivers are tested by Toshiba. Toshiba has designed one small tool called TEMPRO. This tool runs in the background and pick up info about offered updates.
All updated drivers, tools and utilities will not be updated automatically. It can be done by notebook owner. TEMPRO just pick up info from the net and inform the notebook owner.

Microsoft updates are probably known to you. These updates are from Microsoft and Toshiba has no influence to this.
When you check the list of available updates you can maybe have listed updates for WLAN/LAN card, touchpad driver and Toshiba x64 ACPI device. All this stuff is defined as optional updates and they must not be updates.

To be honest you should not update it at all. For hardware components use drivers offered by Toshiba only.

I was browsing the web and near the bottom right of my screen i saw there were new updates available for my windows 7. I proceeded to install the recommended updates and received a prompt that my lap top needed to shutdown for the changes to take effect. Well it never came back on. When I power it on the charger, battery and power on leds light up green and the hard drive led flashes for a few seconds then goes off. I can hear my fan and hard drive running and the disk drive will open and light up when I close it. But there is no activity on the screen, not the Toshiba or windows welcome screen or the black screen of death. I did the take the battery out and remove the charger hold the power key for 30 seconds thing 20 times. I also held down the zero key and the f8 and the f12 and still nothing on the screen. So i hooked up an external monitor and tried the Fn F5 buttons and the screen immediately says monitor going to sleep and shuts off. I dont know what else to do, I really dont want to bring it some where and be charged for them to tell me its the motherboard. It cant be, I was using it with no issues up until windows prompted me to run the new updates

I'm trying to fix a Toshiba laptop running Vista for a friend. The problem is that the girl allowed Vista to download some updates and now it won't boot up. It starts really slowly and then seems to run some checks, stalling at the following:!! 0xc0000034 !! 512/68989 ($$_system32_ru-ru_5b50e7f65fce4fdb.cdf-ms)I haven't got a clue what this means. I've tried doing a system restore from the last point but that is not working either. Windows repair does not help either.I am scared to run the Toshiba Recovery disk as it seems to want to wipe the drive back to factory settings. From looking online many people seem to have had a problem with downloading updates causing a crash.I know I will probably have to reinstall Vista, but the Toshiba disk warning seems to state that it will wipe all information of the drive - i.e. default back to facotry settings - not what I want.Any suggestions - please? There are some applications on this machine that she doesn't want to lose.Thanks.

Answer:Vista updates cause constant crash -Toshiba laptop

There's a lesson in here somewhere. You may find it best all round to do a reinstall. You mention a disc. Is there not a recovery partition on the laptop itself. It will bring it back to how it came out of the box, so you need to back up all data/pictures etc on a flash drive. Make sure you know any network keys you may need and reinstall. Then make sure you use a proper backup regime. Was no backup software bundled with the lappy. If not get Acronis and use it to do running backups on the D partition. You will never regret it and believe me you WILL need to recover from some mishap again. Windows updates can break things !

We have a toshiba satellite L305-S5893. It was working fine and I used to the shut down option to restart the computer. After that it never restarted. It says toshiba innovation and then black screens. Eventually it says what operating system would you like to start and lists vista. After doing that it says a system32 file is corrupt or missing and cannot start windows. We do not have the windows starting disk and I cant get into safe mode. The only thing I can get into is the setup utility manager. Can I download this file somewhere or how else can I get to safe mode? I think its vista 32 but not positive.

Answer:Help with Toshiba Satellite

After other options are exhausted, if you find any, you can try to go back to factory specs. You will lose all your programs, etc, but you can reload them.

Here are instructions on how to try.

Question: Toshiba Satellite

MY friend has a Toshiba Satellite A75-S209 laptop, the hard drive has died, I have found one online for him, but we have no recovery disk from Toshiba to install the OS on the new hard drive, question is where can I find one? If he has to buy Windows, he might as well buy a new laptop. Also how difficult is a hard drive installation in a laptop. I have done this in a desktop.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Answer:Toshiba Satellite

You might be able to order the Recovery discs from Toshiba for a small fee.

Most laptops now require the user to make their own discs when they purchase the system and the re is a recovery partition on the drive.

P.S. Windows is considerably cheaper then a new laptop. And you should have a Windows license number on the bottom of the laptop so the worse case scenrio is that you have to get a regular Windows CD, do an install and download all the drivers, but you'd lose some of the Toshiba pre-installed software.
