Question: User Login form in Access with Ristriction

Hi,
I am new in MS-Access want to develop Accounting and Inventory Control System; want to develop User Login database like if User is Manager have the full rights to create delete and print any records but if user is only KPO then he is only authorised to Create records NO edit / delete..

If some one can guide it will be greate help...

My client used their computer on 11/9 and upon returning to office 3 days later (computer had been left on, I think), the ususal username login took them to a brand new desktop with no files in the user folders. It's as if a new user had been created without their knowledge.

I am remotely accessing their machine to solve the issue and am stumped. Trying to do research and as much solving as possible remotely before actually going to client's home to fix things.

I see 3 folders under Users folder, BEARMAIN-PC is the network name for their computer, Bear is the username:
TEMP.BEARMAIN-PC modified date 11/12/15bear.BEARMAIN-PC modified date 10/26/15bear modified date 10/13/15

It appears that upon windows login to the only defined user called "Bear" on login screen, I am using the TEMP.client-PC folder of user files.

"bear.BEARMAIN-PC" has the most recently worked on files, with most recent edit date of 11/9/15, and the
"bear" folders have dates of 10/26/15.

I have no idea what happened here in clients absence (left town on 10th), the only thing that might've been running is Carbonite backups to a locally attached external drive, Dropbox, and my remote access program. In effect, I have a duplicate of everything on hard drive filling it up to all but 5GB, though the "bear.BEARMAIN-PC" is a larger size and more current file dates so I'll assume that's the one I want to keep.

Hi All,

I am new to the form creation in access database, but i am very much familiar with queries and table creation. Now i want to create a form for the user to provide some inputs to show the results from table. And if they want to change any record of the displayed result then they need to click on edit option in form to edit those details. then those details need to be updated in source table also.

I am beginner in form creation i have given try to create it but i don't know where to start and where to end. Can you please anyone help me to create this form . May be if you have give some suggestion and idea's i can able to try myself.

Hi! I am in the process of building a database for my business. I have built the datatables and I have built the forms for the users to enter the data. Now I need to create a form (preferably like my data-entry one) where a user can enter the last name or account number of who they are looking for and only that specific person's account comes up. I know my way around Access but I am unfamiliar with VB. and coding. If someone has a better idea of what I could do I am open to suggestions. I just need to have a way of users searching for a specific account by name or number. Thanks to anyone to can help!

Well you could use a separate search form, but what would be really usefull is to add 2 "Find Combo's" to your current data entry form, they will list all the names and accounts for the user to choose from and go straight to the record.
They are a very efficient way of finding data.

I have two main types of users. Staff and Technician

When the database opens i want FrmStaffMenu to open if the user us in the Staff user group and Switchboard to open in the user is in the Technician user group.

How do i do this?

Hi, I have a Form created with a text box called "SoldTo_Text"; the user will input multiple SoldTo numbers; I then want the query that is pulling from the "SoldTo_Text" box to bring back data for those multiple SoldTo's. For Example, user inputs 3 soldTo's (1111,2222,3333) then the query takes those sold to's and returns the other values I have set in the query, we'll say they are percentages, so then it would look like (spaces indicate new columns):

1111 3% 5%
2222 6% 8%
3333 8% 3%

Currently, my query works great when they input 1 soldto, but as soon as I try to put in another soldto with it, it doesn't work.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

This works fine for now, but i want it to be able to call up the table and search for the corrosponding login information rather than just have it specifically in the code.
This way i can create an update query to change password, add new users easily.

How would i go about getting the logins to come from the password table?

I have several HP home computers that I am setting up local account users for. I have 7 kids so 9 of us in the family. I have created local user accounts with no email(kids). Some of them work and some I get profile service service failed can not load profile.

I have delete and recreated them but still no joy. I have deleted, powered down and recreated them still the same error. What the heck. Why can't the local accounts work?

You mention you have several computers. Is this happening on all of them?

Anyway, here's what I suggest:

Sign in using your own admin credentials. Open an elevated Command Prompt (right click Start, select Command Prompt (Administrator)). Add a local account for a kid like told in this tutorial in Option Six: User Account - Add in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

Only add one account. When done, sign in to that account immediately letting Windows create it. When done, test it by restarting the computer. If OK the account will be shown in user selection screen and you should be able to use it, sign in with it.

If still not working, come back and we'll try something else.

Hi, hopefully someone will be able to point me in the right direction?

This my father's PC (my brothers hand me down).

He previously didn't need to login as a user at all, it would go straight to his desktop (wasn't even aware of any username etc).
I set up as an administrator so that I could change a file name, this worked just fine until we wanted to get to his desktop etc. It then asked for a username & password, whatever I try it doesn't want to work.

There is only one other user account listed as well as the administrator, I've tried logging in with this username with and without passwords set up from within administrator account to no avail.
All his files, desktop etc are there when I explore the hard drive as admin.

Any help would be appreciated?

Hello All! I have created a database that uses a login form that directs people to specific forms based on priviledges. However, I would like to provide a form that allows users to change their passwords (preferably with a confirm password box). Also, I have one user defined as Administrator, with a special form. I would like to create a special form for the Administrator to be able to add/delete/edit users and their security levels.

I found similar threads, but none that answered my specific questions- relative to my current setup.

Thoughts?

Hello I could really use some help. I am running Windows 10 onmy HP Pavillion. I upgraded from Windows 7 around a month ago. Recently I was running a disk battery calibration check and after I restarted from that I get the message when I login that the "User Profile Failed the Logon. User Profile Cannot Be Loaded". From everything I have seen online it sounds the best method is to login under safe mode as an admin and either create a new user profile or repair the current one. Now the problem is when I go to advanced startup options and select safe mode, it starts up but then asks me to login using one of my two accounts. Neither is the administrator as this doesn't show up for me. The current account that I am getting error obviously won't work under safe mode and the other account I don't remember the password. I inserted a travel/jump drive to try and change the PW on this but it wouldn't work. So basically I have no way of getting to start it up as an administrator. The local PC place said WIndows 10 has had known issues with this. However I had this problem happen with Windows 7 too so I am not sure. I have no idea what to do now. Can anyone help me out?

I have this small database I am converting from A97 toA2010. I created a new A2010 db and pulled over objects I needed. Everything is tested out and working fine.
I also added a drop down box to the main switchboard toselect a "user". Its purposeis so the filter through all the records and pull up only the list of drawing #for that specific drafter.
So I have a table called tblSign_In which has UID autonumber, and the employees name. Thiswill be the user names for the drop down of the Main Switchboard.

I have a table called SHEET LIST that list all the data Ineed to display. This will end upholding tens of thousands of records of information about drawing. I added to this table a field called theLogInID field (UID) to link back to the tblSign_IN, and the correct number andcombination.
I also have a query called qrySHEET LIST which selectsall SHEET TABLE and inner joins to thetblSign_IN to pull the Employee Name linking on a LogInID field.

What I was trying to do is filter SHEET LIST form (my outputform) by the user selected on the MAIN SWITCH form in the drop down box Icalled cboSignInEmployeeName.
For example:
Sheet List (tbl) might contain information like: Sheet# 22a6; description Dryer; buildhours:12; drafter #4.

qrySHEET LIST (also my ouptut data) is pulling all theabove, but replace 4 with actual drafter’s name, John Smith.

Hi all

I have a simple Access (2003) db which has a single form view with a subform. The main form is a record based upon a physical case file the subform only details actions past and future, a sort of event log.

I also have a continuous form which displays all upcoming actions sorted by date on all cases for a particular user so they can see just how busy they are likely to be for a particular period. What I would like to do is have an on click() property for the detail of the continuous form so that it opens the main form filtered by the record in the continuous form that was clicked. User can then update or add new events for that case before closing form and returning to the continuous form

It makes perfect sense.
If you add a Command Button to the Continuous Form and after selecting the mainform select the "Open the Form and find specific data to display". This will give you the code that you need to add to your On Click or On Double Click property or of course leave the button and use that.

Hi All,

Noob first-time poster I'm afraid!

I'm new to Access 2007 (but have used 2003 & 2000 reasonably extensively).

I'm building an App and have created all the necessary tables, as well as creating the relationships in the Database Tools area (which I know are correct - I'm a SQL Server DBA in my day job)!

Anyway, it's an almost text book example of an employers and employees database; one employer having many employees (employerID is the foreign key on the employee table).

I have created an employer form (using the wizard) which is fine, but then when I add a button to open the employee form (selecting 'Open the form and find specific records', matching employerID on the Employer table with EmployerID on the Employee table) it doesnt work. Instead, I get a popup box asking me for the EmployerID! Even if I manually enter the correct employerID when the popup box appears it actually displays all records, so I'm sure that the problem is more fundamental (and therefore, probably my fault)!

I'm hoping that I've just overlooked something REALLY stupid, but would apprecaite any suggestions!

I have seen this kind of problem with Access 2007 VBA code which does not work when it dod in 2000-2003.
It can be a Syntax problem which you may be able to get around, if not you can get around the problem bby using a Criteria in the Query that supplies the Employee Form.
Although I would have thought it would be better design wise to have the Employees as a Subform or Tabbed Subform on your Employer Mainform.
I do not have Access 2007, only 2003 so I can't help with the VBA, but you could post the code anyway.

Did you use a Wizard to create the Employee Form, if so check the Record Source SQL it may be preventing your EmployerID from working.

I've been given a LOT of help by members of this Forum (especially OBP) with a DB I'm making as a first look at any type of IT product, and I'm very grateful, so thank you all.

Recently, I was advised to take a look at the "Tabbed" style of "MainForm" instead of the "Switchboard" style I originally used. I must say, I really like the tabbed style much more than the switchboard but I've hit one hurdle that I can't seem to overcome.

In the Switchboard style, I was able to set a form to load in either DATA ENTRY = YES or DATA ENTRY = NO mode depending on which sub-switchboard the user selected. For example, I had a ENTER NEW sub-switchboard that all forms would open in DATA ENTRY = YES mode & I had another EDIT EXISTING sub-switchboard that all forms would open in DATA ENTRY = NO mode.

However, with the new tabbed style, I cannot set the form load type for separate tabbs, it will only accept the LAST type as the GLOBAL type. Example, on the ENTER NEW tab, I set the form to load as DATA ENTRY = YES & sets the form to open in DATA ENTRY = YES on both tabs, then I go to the EDIT EXISTING tab & set the same form to DATA ENTRY = NO & it sets the form to open in both tabs in DATA ENTRY = NO mode.

So, my question is:
Can I set the same form to load differently on different tabs on the same MainForm?

I would just copy the Subform, so you have version 1 for data entry with the Data Entry set to "Yes" and version 2 set to "No".
The only thing you need to do then is to Requery the Editing form each time you make an entry in the data entry form.
Although I prefer to just have an Edit form with a "New Record" button for the data entry.

My multi item form isn't letting me add new records, only update and delete current ones.

My guess it that this is because the form is based on a multi-table query. That's fine, I can make a new form specifically for adding new records, but I'd like to be able to salvage this form if possible. Is there any way to either force this form to accept new records in the bottom row, or is there any way to get rid of the "add record" bottom row completely so it's not misleading users into thinking they can add records here?

I have a database which ultimately will have a couple of thousand records. The primary table has 30+ fields. I have lots of queries and connected reports to show various subsets of the data needed from the table. However, there are times when what is needed is all fields for a specific subset. Because the records sought often need to be filtered by several criteria, I've found the "Filter by Form" option to work well. I have a button on the main dashboard marked "Find Record" that automatically opens a search form in the "Filter by Form" mode. This allows me to enter information into as many controls as necessary, and returns exactly the right records after clicking on "Toggle Filters" on the ribbon. The problem is that ultimately I need to make this "Access-free". The goal is to create an application from the database without ribbons. I've created a button to run the filter, and another one to print the results, but when the search form is open in the "Filter by Form" mode, it greys out the buttons. I understand that there is a GotFocus command or something similar. Can anyone help with specifics, both the syntax of the command and where the command needs to be typed? Hello

I have a subform which on its own - works beautifully but fails under the mainform. I use a main form to select the record that the end user wants to update. Upon update event on main form, the sub form opens, presenting fields for possible updating. The Sub Form also present 2 buttons - Save & Close or Cancel and Close (Undo). When the main form opens, the code set AllowClose as False. When the sub form is opened as a result of the update on the mainform, the issue is the Close command /code gets canceled. (Error 2501). I have tried: 1. setting AllowClose (true and False) on both forms, 2. only the main form and 3. only the subform. None of these 3 configurations resolves the issue. Also, I tried moving the buttons to the mainform instead of the sub form but that failed as well.

The application has a dozen forms and all of them utilize AllowClose functionality so the end user MUST use the buttons on the forms to force background queries (updates, deletes, perform calculations, recalc control totals etc). This is the first time I have tried to use Allow Close on a subform with buttons.

Why not just use a listbox to display the records based on the selection on the main form? I don't think you can actually close a sub-form on a main form since it is tied to the main form.

Morning Guys.

I am having a problem with Access 2007. I am not good with code, so would like to resolve this without using code if possible?

I have a form "A" that I have created. I want to be able to select a row on form "A" press a button and it will open a form "B" based on the selected record in form "A".

I have had a look at the button wizard, and it lets you have the option, but when you go through the wizard, it gives you an empty box on the left and a box on the right showing all the fields in the form "A". Nothing to relate to?

Any ideas?

Here is what I'm trying to do.

For lists Equipment in drop down box.
Whatever equipment that is select, the equipment type field needs to be updated from a table.

Is there a way to get a value from SQL statement?

Mhouser, if you are trying to "display" a value related to the Combo selection you can have thta value as an extra column in the combo and refer to it with simple VBA.
You should not populate a Field's actual value with that from the combo as that is duplication.

I am a new user to Access 2010. My operation system is Window 7.
I have created a data base with two tables. The first table contains a list of students and their personal information. The second table contains student subjects and has many subject records with a relationship to the student record. The relationship key is the student id.

I have created a form that populates with the student information and contains a subform that populates with that students subjects. All of this works great for existing students. I can edit the student information and and new subject records.

Now here is my problem. I would like to create a form that preceeds my current form. The user would input a student number and click search button. If that student number exists on the student data base then the form that I created should open populated with the student data and their subjects and allow the user to update it. If the student number does not exist, then I would like that same form (or a form with the same layout) to open and the only data populated is the student number that was input on the search form. The user should be able to input all of the student data and course information and hit a save button that would insert the records into the correct database tables.

Answer:Access query to open Add form or Edit Form

needaccesshelp, welcome to the Forum.
First a couple of points, you do not need to "save" the record, access does so automatically. Also when creating a New record the subform should be automatically populated with the Student Number, this is controlled by the master child links.

The combo you need is a Find combo which can be created using the combo wizard, that combo can have it's Not In List Property set to yes, which can then be used to trigger adding the student that to the table and then to the form (and combo).

also i have mailed to MS Technical support Team and also asked about this issue on Windows worldwide official support forum, but not get any meaning full response from them.

I am asking this message to here, coz i want to Spread this issue around the world, so every user can secure their Data and also MS can rectify this issue by releasing an OS Update.

This ought to be pretty simple to do. I have a small table that contains contact information for a number of businesses: name, address, etc. I have an “ID” field that is an auto number and is the PK. I have created another table that contains the business name, date of a donation and a memo field to hold the donation info (since it’s stuff instead of money.) In the second table, “ID” field is also an auto number and is PK. I have related the tables with a one to many: theoretically one business with many possible dates/donations which is the basic premise. I created a main form to input the business data and created a sub-form for the donation data based on their respective tables. Each business will be unique but a business may give multiple donations, say one each month or more – whatever.

I can’t get it to work. I’ve got that big, honkin’ Access 2000 Developer’s Handbook but am still getting up to speed using it…. but I’ll keep looking until I hear from someone!

Hi Guys,
I've recently got an issue with loading profile settings after probably deleting one of the Admin profiles on Windows 10 Home.

I can't load:
1. The most important: Built-in Adminstrator profile: Error: " Location/Path C:/Windows/sytem32/config/systemprofile/Desktop" is unavailable. I got only empty black screen, bottom-left-hand corner windows icon doesn't show up the menu - is irresponsive. I can't do anything - eveng craetimng new folders. Only Some software work , namely BitDefender Total Security, NVidia, Intel etc

2. Fortunetely, I'ev got another Admin account which works fine. I can create new users/profiles but I get this error anytime I enter the user's profile:" a User log in failed. User's profile files cannot be loaded.

I've found the path in regestry:
It confirms that only one with thwe right path to my profile works fine. Others don't have a correct path.

I have a problem, I get to the Windows login that says to sign in but on the right there is not a user name it is just blank. Can anyone tell me what to do. This does this in Safe mode as well. I click ctrl. alt. del and a user login box comes up but still will not take password. This is a Windows XP Home SP2. Very strange. Thanks....

This happened to me one time, I think it's a corrupt profile. I really don't remember how I solved it.

Do you use XP's System Restore? That would be my first idea.

Best suggestion that I can think of is to run chkdsk /r or the equivalent and see if that helps.

I've found the path in regestry:
It confirms that only one with thwe right path to my profile works fine. Others don't have a correct path.

I want to create a form in a sort inbox style so i ahve a list of records at the top in a datasheet and then by clicking on the list the details should show up in colunmar view below.

Sound simple its not.

I can get it to work the other way round by having a datasheet subform in my main form but thats not much use.

What i need to do is to somehow reverse how the form subform relationship works.

Any ideas?

Hello nice people !

Windows is asking me for a password despite I've never had a password.

Here's what happened:

I've never had a password and choose during the win install to have 1 local account without password.

I used to have a user/login name with an non ascii character (?), and it was causing me some trouble. Hence I decided to change it with ascii only characters. Control Panel, users etc ... properties, changed the name of the local user.

Reboot, and boom, Windows asks me for a password and is displaying the former user name !! But there's no option to change the user name, I've read that there should be a back arrow but it's not here (probably because windows "thinks" there's no point since there is only 1 user).

I don't know what to do, I used a Linux live usb distro to use some tools that can reset password and unlock account, however:

1/ it can only reset password, which seems not to be the issue here, the issue is the wrong user name
2/ the linux tool shows 1 local user with the last update name

So I'm guessing windows is not using the proper name to login, but doesn't provide any mean to change it.

If anyone has an idea, that would be greatly approciated.

Double check in Netplwiz to do step 4 to set Windows to automatically sign in to your user account at startup. If you had this set before, then it may not have been updated after you removed your password, and needs to be setup again.

The names, email addresses, and scrambled passwords that I use in my logins
and forms have suddenly disappeared. I am now compelled to retype the whole
ball of wax each time it's asking for it. Has a check-mark somewhere gone

I manage the Networks for several companies remotely and not all users are computer friendly enough to know both their username and password, only their Password. So, when doing maintenance and I log on to a PC as an administrator or other user I will often
get a call the next day that their "password is not working" because it is using the last logged on user, which this time is me.

Is it possible in any way to set either a default domain user, or set it to a most often logged on model instead of the current last user or the alternative of prompting for user name every time?

So a new box recently built, when booted, defaults to the local administrator account.

So my question is, after pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del...how do I dictate to Windows that the preferred used is "HisDomainAccount" on our company domain, as opposed to the local admin account?

The above is a bit confusing. Is this computer joined to a work domain or is it not?

If this is a domain computer, the user will have to use the classic log on screen (Ctrl+Alt+Delete), not the Welcome Screen. If he wants to switch to logging in to the Local computer account and not the domain, he'll have to "Switch User" then log in with the format of Computername\User Name

Hi,

Am in a bit of a quandary, here. I am experimenting on a new Windows 7 build, and using a domain account, I copied it to make a "new" default user folder. Now when I try and login using a domain users account, I get the following message:

The User Profile Service Failed the Login
User Profile cannot be loaded

I was able to logon using a domain users account, before I created a new default user folder.
I did take an extra precaution by renaming the old default user folder, and I thought I'd be "good" by deleting the new default user folder - and renaming the old default user folder to what it was.. BUT, I still get the error message.

I am doing this via RDP, but the domain users account does have remote desktop access via the local security group (remote desktop etc.....)

Anybody out there that can PLEASE help me out?

When I login to windows (7, Ultimate x64) on most profiles (created a new one, affected, logged into my admin account, 1 of 2 user accounts, a clean one for lightweight surfing with no load time for all 3rd party s/w) and my monitor goes from extended (blank) (1920x1080) to ... looking like it has a FAT black border (on secondary monitor).

Also some issues with network adapter connecting and mounted volumes attaching (instead of being instantaneous they take minutes) event viewer doesn't mention anything significant... any ideas?

Interestingly, I can't open Intel's CPanel (desktop context > Graphics Properties) (gfxui.exe) on other profiles.. will get details

Sounds to me like something in one or more of the user profiles has gotten corrupted. you might have to delete one or more user accounts and then re create those accounts which should hopefully fix the corruption issue. I know u might not want to do that; but at this point i dont see any other choice to fix the problem.

I was following these article to do so:

Operating system: Windows
Windows version: 7
Bit: 32*
At Step 3, I failed to create a temporary user with administrator privileges through Command Prompt. So, I created it manually through Control Panel with the same exact name and password as instructed.
Then, I proceeded on...
Until Step 6 onwards, problems arise. I changed the username to Default. Step (c) I failed to access the Advanced user management, so I skipped it until Step 7. I also changed the folder's name to Default but it says that there is already a folder named Default existed and asked me if I want to replace.
I then immediately tried to go back to Step 6 and rename it to previous name but failed, so I clicked "Yes" to merge folder and replace the existed folder. At this moment, the only Users folder window frozen. I then realised it happens when I attempted to replace after many times trying.
Also, at the end, I successfully changed back all the names to how previously it was named in Step 6 and Step 7 but I still stuck at user login "Welcome" forever when trying to login to the account I made changes.
Although I made a system restore before doing all these as a precaution, but I fail to restore since I receive an error message saying that it was unsuccessfully maybe due to anti-virus even though I turn off all anti-virus. :(

On windows 7 professional 64-bit sp1,
if a current user is screen locked, the lock screen indicates the current user name and account is logged on and the computer is locked. I am using Classic Logon in group policy,
and under local policy-security options-interactive logon i have it set to display username and account info (the option with most information).

the problem i have is say a user is logged in and then I need to use the computer,
at that point the lock screen says so and so is logged in and locked,
I do a switch user, log in and do my thing, then log out.
Now the screen goes back to the base login screen saying 'ctrl-alt-del' not saying any user is currently logged in.
Now if that original user does log back in, all his stuff is still here and everything acted like a basic screen lock happened so no problem there... but what i want to happen is after a switch user logs out the screen goes back to the lock screen displaying who has the computer locked. is there a way to do that?

At a guess, I'd say Classic Logon is the culprit here, as I do not have this issue with Windows 7 64-bit SP1 with the default login screen. Changing this is likely impractical next to the simple solution of ditching Classic Logon (It's an ancient artifact by now)

I will give as best description of what happened and what I have tried so far. 
1 - I allowed Windows to do an update and restart yesterday evening 
2 - When the computer started back up, as usual, it asked me to enter my password. Unfortunately, the message that comes after reads "The User Service service failed the sign-in.  User profile cannot be loaded." and my only option I to click OK and return to the password-entry page.  
3 - I have tried multiple ways to enter safe mode by first holding Shift+Restart in the lower right of the password-entry page, then Troubleshoot, Advanced options, Startup Settings, selecting option 4 "Enable Safe Mode"... And it just takes me back to that dang password-entry page. 
4 - Next I tried System Restore.  Attempt #1- I set the restore point to the most current before the Windows Update I did the night before - the restore only runs about 1 min before showing an error (System Restore failed while scanning the file system on the drive C:/ The drive might be corrupt. You might want to retry System Restore after running cchdsk /R on this disk. An unspecified error occurred during System Restore - 0x80070571)
5 - System Restore Attempt #2 - This time I checked the box for "Show more restore points" and selected the farthest back (9/29/2015) restore point with Description "Automatic Restore Point" Type "System." I know you can lock down an AD account to log into a specific machine but can you lock down a machine to only accept certain user logins? We have some mission critical machines that only have the specific rights with certain ID's but the users keep insiting on logging onto them as their own ID thus making the app not work properly and the machine go whacky. I want to set it up to deny logins other than using the specified ID's they have been given already (and not their own user accounts).

Is there any way to do this other than limiting EVERY user account (since I only need this limit on like 2 PC's per site I have).

Thanks for any help. (yes I know about runas types of solutions I really would like to keep these PC's as clean as we can and not have other user profiles on them at all).

Answer:Lockdown user login on a domain machine to a specific user.

So I would assume these computers are attached to the domain, so their domain logins allow them to login to the computer.

Couldn't you use a combination of the local policies
Deny logon locally
Logon Locally

Both of them allow you to add a user or group to those local policy. I would think that if you deny the everyone group in the domain then set the users who are allowed to login in the other policy, that might work. I am not sure though. I would have to test it.

I have a rebuilt HP, system model HP compaq dc5750 sm. form factor, with Vista business 64 bit, 1 80GB and 1 2TB HD's, (it only came with the 80 and we have lots of music, vids etc.) AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core proc. 3800+ 2.)GHz, 4 GB ram,standard cd-rom,ATI Radeon XPress 1150 and ATI Radeon Xpress secondary. This is only for quick specs.

Right now all 3 user accts have the same "user profile service service failed the logon" message. I've read everything I could find here and at Microsoft's support forum. First of all I tried booting in everyway possible from f8 and the only way I can logon in any way,shape or form is in safemode with command prompt. Great fine. I went to regedit and followed the path:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList and all of our user/profiles in the S-1-5 lines have bak at the end of the string of numbers. In control panel I can only access the user acct. I logged on with (in safe mode) and it will not let me create a new user acct. So how can I create and log on with a working acct. and fix our "bad" accts. I also tried enabling the built in administrator account with command prompt and my pc hated that idea too. I'm pretty sure I shouldn't delete all the s15's with bak and the end.

Ok this morning I started up my computer and at the login screen the only option I had available to use to login was (Other User)? I normally have (my login) and (guest login). I'm using WIN7 64BIT it's a custom built computer I put together in 2011. I'm using three HD, OS 256GB SSD, FLTSIM 256 SSD, Storage 1TB. I last used the computer last night around 7:30pm and I had no issues. I've restarted three times but to no avial. Is there a fix for this??

Friend of family had a stroke, can't remember user password. It happens. I'm an old ex network admin, so pretty savy here yet Totally stumped, short of spending money to buy something. Here is what I've tried to do to get to the command prompt, so I can run net user to enable the administrator login, which is defaulted as disabled on 7. Of course she never made up any backup image disks or anything, duh.......who does?

1. On boot up, pressed F8 to get to command prompt with safe mode. That works, when selected option given here, still boots up to the user name login. So I can't get to the command prompt. Tried the other safe mode options, with same result. Toshiba also has a F12 boot option, same result.

2. Started windows, when it was loading, I shut it down with Power On button, restarted, repair mode to get to command prompt, cancelling the repair when it starts, but can't get to command prompt this way either.

3. Tried my Windows 7 disk, but still loads and comes up to user login, so I can't enable the administrator option.

4. I think she has this locked down pretty good, nothing in the BIOS to secure the user access.

I have a bootable Flash drive, but it will not work on this Toshiba Satelite laptop, will not boot as there is no option in BIOS to enable it. I tried with a bootable CD disk, and it boots up, but I still go to the user login like above.

My User accounts have all been disabled except one that has my avatar, but isn't the admin account ive been using. it has a different mouse speed for one, and the password isn't the one i've been using for months.

Guest is disabled.

I have tried every password cracker. None of them can figure out the password for said 'unknown' admin account, and some of them like hiren's don't even boot, even though my boot order is CD then WIN.

I even DLed my version of Windows Install AND system restore discs, burnt the iso's correctly, and neither of them will actually boot. My laptop came with no disc and has the internal system restore thing which is why i had to DL them on a different computer.

I need to figure out how to get a cmd prompt before login so i can use "net user administrator /active:yes" or even for the guest account. I know the install/repair discs give c prompt options, but i can't get either of them to boot. and yes i have the boot order so it boots from cd before booting windows.

any help?

I am trying to add a second account to my machine and whether I try a Local or Microsoft account, I get the same "User Profile Service failed the sign-in. User profile cannot be loaded" error every time I try to sign in for the first time. I've Googled this a bit and it seems everything I've found yet (except one) has been with logging in to existing profiles. For the one that was with a new profile, the solution didn't work. I tried deleting all files similar to the specified one (file in C:\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\VSCommon\12.0\SQM\ with name of "sqmdata-####-###-#####.sqm"), but that had no effect. I'm guessing this is because I have VS2013 installed, as this happens with my laptop as well. I don't want to delete my profile, I have important (and large) data in my documents folder that I don't want to lose. I'm guessing this will have to do with messing with the registry, but I don't know where to begin. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi,
I've developed a database in Access 2010 and am using the Navigation Form for users to access the different forms and it's working very well. The problem is we still have some workers who are on Windows XP boxes with Office 2007 and the Navigation Form won't work for them. I've been asked to develop an Access 2007 Switchboard which will mimic the Navigation form so there is some continuity between them and so that once all the systems have been upgraded the users willbe familiar with the interface. I easily designed a form with the look or the Navigation Form but haven't been able to figure out how to handle opening the different subforms on the one main form. Is it possible to place an Unbound Frame on the form and with a click of a button open a subform in the Frame or have a button just open a subform? How would that be coded?

Hi All,

I am trying to put a combo box on a form that will allow the user to both scroll through the list and start typing the first name of the employee to find the desired name. Clicking on the desired name would open the appropriate record.
So far, I have successfully created:

A 'multi column' combo box, that shows the information that I want, called "cboSelectBEP"
The combo box lives on a form called "Basic Employee Profile"
The combo box is fed from a query called "Basic Employee Profile Query"
All the main data is kept on a table called "Employee Information"
What I seem to be missing is the following functionality:

The combo box shows the test record (ie the list) when you click on the arrow but does not allow you to type the employee's name in to search
When you do click on the test record, it doesn't actually go to any record - other than the default record - btw - how can I change that so the form comes up blank?
I think part of the issue lies in the fact that my query takes the First & Last names from the "Employee Information" table and puts them together in a 'full name' format. I know the topic of comboboxes with 'search while type' functionality has been covered many times before but I've been searching the internet for 3 days and can't seem to find where I'm going wrong! Any help is appreciated!

I have a HP 350 G1 and the startup is very slow.
From that the Background image is displayed until that the login form is displayed there is a wait for about 3 minutes.

How do I find out what the computer is doing during this wait?

I have a computer in the breakroom at work, which is running Windows 8. We normally don't use W8, so I am new to it. Apparently an employee logged into the computer with their personal account, then left the company. The screen shows her account logged in, with a blank password box, and no option to switch user. A reboot of the machine comes back to the same screen.

I was able to get into the Advanced Boot Manager and go into Safe Mode, but the same user login screen comes up in Safe Mode also.

I just need to get this user logged out and get back to the main login screen so that anyone can login to the machine. This is a simple step in W7, just can't seem to get it done in W8.

Hi Guys , wonder if you could help me , ive looked everywhere and cant seem to get any answers so thought id ask instead.

Im after creating a program in visual basic and i want different people to be able to login to access the forms im creating , im wanting to have the user names and passwords to be held in a .mdb database (for ease and accessability on my part) , im also wanting for certain users (admin) to have the ability to add users to the database .

If a normal user logs on then it opens form_normal but if an admin logs in then it opens form_admin

I hope some of you brainy people can help cus its driving me silly now lol

Question: User Form in Word

Hello, I was trying to create a drop down list but realized that 2003 WORD can on only 25 items for drop down. I found the VB code to create the user form but what I cant figure out is how do I add my list. Can anyone help me?

But first let me explain, I was trying to do a combo box in Word 2007 which works great coz theres no limits but when I wanted to " Copy and Paste Special (as an icon)" this document to another document in word 2007, it only allows me to paste it as 97-03 word which I did but I soon learned that this combo box does not in since it was done in 07. That is why I am tryomg to just create an 03 document but I could not get the list to work. Does anyone have any options for me?

Question: Excel - User Form

I know this can be done in Access, but was wondering if it can be done in excel.

What I am looking for is a User form that is always open, and it has an "imput field" where I can enter a series of numbers.

For example, the user form would be up, and when I enter S10131 it would run a macro, without having to hit enter, or anything, I guess so once 6 letters/numbers are entered, it would run a macro.

Any ideas? Sorry I am being kinda vague, but I dont really know what I want yet LOL!

I've had several issues after installing my Windows 8.1 64 bit.... I tried installing my motherboard drivers shortly after upgrading my Windows OS and lost connection to the internet. I tried reinstalling the drivers and got stuck in this infinite loop of the BIOS... then I got stuck in an infinite loop of reinstalling/refreshing my PC from the Windows install disk... I finally was able to go into Regedit and delete a bunch of things and now finally I am able to get to the login user screen but my original login doesn't appear. I don't know how to login ... my original user name and password doesn't work.... i need help

I have checked it in Windows 7 64 bit fully patched and tried Firefox and IE11 and also on another computer running Windows XP also fully patched
I ran a full virus check with Kaspersky and Malwarebytes which didn't flag anything up
However my Windows 7 machine is dual boot with Vista which is way out of date as I never use it and trying in Vista it doesn't redirect but takes me to the support site
I have tried starting in safe mode with Windows 7 and that didn't help neither did removing all relevant cookies or disabling Kaspersky

I created a User form in excel 2003, with a Text box and command button. When the form runs I want to enter text into the text box and when I press the command button, I want the text to be copied to an Excel spreedsheet cell.

Does anyone know of a way to "inactivate" text and user inputs using VBA user forms in Excel? I have a user form that I want to hide or change the color of a section of it when the user clicks a check box, much like the save button will be become inactive or active if you click on or off a file to save.

Hi,

I want to create an excel based calendar system for monitoring staff holiday!

Basically I want staff to be able to open a file, and be presented with an input screen where they indicate their name, date and have a small description box which will then get pulled through to a weekly calendar sheet.

I have created how I would like to weekly sheet to look, but have no clue on how to get the above description to work!!

I'm looking for something that can help me create the following.

I want a form that a user can fill out with a series of pulldown menu selections. It is pretty much an IT request permissions for user form.

Like lets say we hire a new employee. I want it so the manager can go to this form and they can can click the pulldown menu and it will have selections like "New Hire" or "Need access to folder"

If they click "New Hire" below that area where it WAS blank there is now a box where they can now have access to a pulldown bar that has a list of all job positions. But lets say instead of click "New Hire" they click "Need access to folder" instead. Well Now in the blank area under the form you get a box where a user can type in information such as "z:\payroll" or something.

I pretty much want what shows up on the document to change depending on what selection the user has made

I would prefer free software but I am open to paid.

When creating a user form in Excel 2002 I get an error message that reads: "Could not complete the operation due to error 800a9cf1" Once this error appears I cannot add any new object to the form and all other forms in the worksheet are also corrupted. Anyone have any ideas?

I know that there is previous thread along this same line, but I have a different issue. I am a beginner with VBA and have been using examples from the Internet to write my codes. I have a User Form that I created in Excel 2007 that adds the information entered to the first empty row without any problems. Since then, I have been creating a new User Form using the same code, however, I'm getting the "Application-defined or object-defined error". Debugging takes me to the code for finding the first empty row.

Hello,

I have created a user form in word which opens when a new template is created. This all works perfectly but I was wondering if there was any way of viewing the user form directly from word...i.e without going to the vb editor and hitting run - userform...???

I would like it to open at the begininng but also have the option to open it later on and fill in more data...

Is this possible??

automate the creation of the proposals and project file using the user form
My issue now is creating the macros to input the dats

my list, combo boxes see the cell ranges by the range put in the control source that works fine
I currently can not figure out the Macro to input new date if the current infromation is not listed
example: col B=project Name. row 1 is title. B2 = bakery, B3 = Bank. I ned my next entry to input new information in B4 then auto populate a new qu0te number in col A

The user form has function over the entire workbook and is located in the VBA this workbook load upon opening

I apoligizes if my terms or explinations are not clear as I said I am really very new to this and need all the assistance I cane get

Hi everyone,
I have a weird problem. I have am EXCEL templates where users open to create their documents. This template has buttons that run macros. everything work fine for long time. There are 3 users using this template one using Office2000, the second user uses Office 2002 and the other Office 2003.
One of the user will create a document from the template save it with a number. then one of the other user may open it later to make some changes and it seems that this work out good for years till now. It seems like the user that is running Office 2003
when he open the file the Control Buttons are not there but not on all the files. But it seems like all buttons are gone and any check box, logos it seems like anything that was created with the control toolbox are gone.
The user using Office 2003 is been running this version for almost a year and only now we are having a problem 5 documents the button are gone, Macros are there so i can recreate the button. But I need to find out why is this happen

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

So I just recently put up a website and I want a form so users can tell me what should be on the site.

I created the form in dreamweaver, set up a MySQL database in phpMyAdmin with the following sql code:

In dreamweaver, I go and connect the submit button to my database, type in all my info (username, password, etc..) and it comes up "An unidentified error has occurred."

My webhost does support php. Something I noticed when I went to save it is that it saved it as a php file.

How can i get this error to go away?

And if its not too much to ask, how can I set up my form so that when a person clicks submit it will send it to my email?

I have a form now that won't work for many folks because of "Form Controls stop working after December 2014 Updates". The fixes provided do not work for most people and many won't even attempt the hot fixes. I am trying to figure out a workaround. I know I can use WorksheetChange to get when an entry is put in a cell but I need to be able run a macro for a second entry and then display results in a third cell. On the ones with out the issue, right now on my form they put text in first box and it runs a macro (afterupdate) to validate certain things and then when they enter in the second text box, it runs another macro to validate that entry. Then they click a button to execute a third macro to get the results. Is there a way to do that without a form and command buttons?

Hi all. I'm on Vista and an Acer Aspire 5920G laptop.
A few weeks ago, my pc stopped remembering my username on my Hotmail account.
I didn't change anything and wasn't aware of downloading anything that would have changed the settings. I have tried to sort it out, but can't make it happen.
Other usernames arre remembered (the one on TechGuy for example).
I go to my emails quite often during the day and have a long username, so it's getting a bit boring.
Can anyone offer a solution??

I am creating a form for data input into an excel spreadsheet. The form just captures mail sent/received and the first text box is to be a unique number for every entry.

Is there anyway that I can code the text box so that it puts in a unique number everytime a new record is added?

I have attached my draft spreadsheet - it isn't finished yet as the next stage is to get excel to open automatically to the form.

In your UserForm_Initialize:

LastNumber = Application.Max(Sheets("MailRecords").Columns(1))
txtNumber = LastNumber + 1

Although ideally you should leave txtNumber off the form altogether. Just have Excel figure out new "Last Number" at the "Add Record" stage, thereby eliminating user "interference". IMO.

I need to create a document that allows a user to enter text, and then save and print the document at the end. I'm aware the PDFs are frequently used for entering and printing text, but because of software limitations I've decided to attempt this using MS Word.

With a bit of googling I've managed to get Word to do everything I need, apart from one thing, and I'm drawing a blank with it on google. Largely because it's quite a complicated/specific task to try and search for.

Basically I've enabled the 'developer' tab in Word and used this to insert text boxes. Then I've used the 'review' tab to protect the document and allow the user to only fill in forms. What I want to do is to have the user's name appear on each page of the document, without them having to type it more than once.

The obvious way to achieve this would appear to be to insert a text box that they can edit in the header of the document. However, once the document has been protected they are unable to select any text boxes in the header in order to enter data.

So, I'm wondering is it possible to insert a value into the header of the document that would pull the the data that has been input into the 'name' textbox and display it in the header, so that it will appear on every page when the document has been printed. I guess that this is similar to the way in which the Page X of Y type command, although slightly more complex.

in windows 7 i hav created a new user(others) . i am the administrator and hav to restrict access of some hard drives like c:,g: from the user(others)..!! how to do tat and i had to disable the control panel,cmd prompt,run also..!

1) i went to group policies and try to disable the hard drives..!! but in tat i can see onli "restrict A,B and C drives" but i need to restrict drives c: and g:..!! and how to select the other user account..?? the drive restricted in my administrator account itself..!!

2)i hav managed to disable the cmd prompt,ctrl panel but its getting disabling in my admin account but i need to disable in other account..!!

Pls help me out.. im noob in this..!! i searched but cant find a detailed discription..!!

I have a database with a form of [projects]. I have two tables, one for [projects] and one employee table that lists the [user], windows [login name] and their [department].

I am able to get the form to open and filter on the users windows [login name], but how do I tell the form to match the user [login] with my employee table and filter all projects based on the users [department]?

I'm going crazy trying to get this to work. Thanks!

What I have got is a word document and an excel document.

The excel document is used to enable a userform which a person can fill out.

The word document is used for the details of the user form in excel to be transferred to the word document.

I have created the forms and the word template and i am looking for a way the following can be done when the "SAVE" button is clicked on the user form in excel.

1) Have the details from the user form transferred into the word document at the top where the corresponding headers are.

2) The word document file name automatically created(using the issue title in the user form) and inserted into the excel sheet under issues for it to be reopen and viewed in Microsoft word.

I know it would be simpler to have all this in one form but the idea is to get someone to fill out the issue only then someone of higher authority can update the issue's progress but still allowing the issue creator( or any one else) the access to re-open it and see the updates in a read only format in word.

complicated i know but that's how its got to be.

Hello y'all - hope someone can help

I created a user-form in adobe acrobat using an existing Excel spread. I am new to Adobe and could use some help. The form seems to be working all right except for a couple of issues I can't seem to resolve??

The adobe file is a 3 page document; page 1 is a text / financial data mix, page 2 is all the financial data (some of which feeds to page 1), and page three is just text. Here are the issues:

1. MUST HAVE: Page 2 - Financials: My "C" field will not auto calculate unless field "E" is completed with an amount greater than $1. This is usually zero but for a few exceptions, so this is a problem.

2. LIKE TO HAVE: Page 1 - When completing page 1's 'CLASS' field, upon entering data in this field, can I have the cursor 'go-to' the 1st field on page 2 and skip over the signature section on the bottom of page 2?

Hello, I am using Access 2000 and have created a database with a command button that opens up a report via a macro. I would like to know how to open up single reports instead of pushing a button that brings up every report, I've been able to open up reports that are based off of queries, queries that have paramenters that need to be inputted in order to bring up single unique records, but I would like to be able to just create a button that brings just that particular unique record-report off of that particular unique record on that form. Meaning that for a record that had just been inputted for John Doe on a form, I would like to know how to create a button on that form to pull up John Doe's single report without having to build a query that asks for a parameter. Is there anyway to do this?

You will have to adapt this to your own form setup; but it's just using the Where line of the OpenReport macro action.

If on the form MyFormName you have two controls called txtFirstNm and txtLastNm, and in the query underlying the report you have two fields called FirstNm and LastNm, you would put into the Where line of the OpenReport action:

I have an Access form that dispalys our company's Vendor information (name, address, phone, contact, etc.)

The first control on the form is a Combobox that contains all the Vendor Names. The combobox is a bound control to a field in the associated table. After selecting the Vendor name from the drop down, 10 text fields are populated on the same form with the Vendors detail information.

The same form is used to Add a New Vendor. After clicking on the "ADD VENDOR" button. The combobox is hidden and replaced with a textbox. After saving the new record to the table, the textbox is hidden and the combobox is made visible again. Even though the new record has been saved to the table, the combobox will not show the newly added record unless I close it and re-open it. How can I make the updated data appear in the combobox list?

I have tried using .Requery with the combobox name and I have also tried refreshing the form using .Refresh with the form name but can't get it to update.

I know how to do all this database stuff using straight VBA and SQL Statements but I am using forms and buttons that were created by the wizard and I really don't understand all the DoCmd events and other crap that Access automatically creates for you.
