I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Other than routine updates, I have done no major downloads, restores or changes to my ThinkPad Yoga and suddenly the pen is completely unresponsive. As a digital painter this is incredibly frustrating. I have NO IDEA where to begin trouble shooting this problem. Please HALP.

Hello, I just received my new shiny TPY (again). The first time I got it, the digitizer wasn't working. After a bit of research I realized that it probably was a hardware issue (No digitizer, pen or wacom device in device-manager). So I send it back. The mainboard got replaced and today I have my machine back. It was all working fine including the digitizer. But from one minute to the other it stopped working and I can't find any wacom or digitizer devices in the device-manager.Now my first thought was, that the Windows updates messed something up, so I've done a rollback but it's still not working.Am I doing something wrong or is it a hardware issue again? Thanks for advance.Robinhuett

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga - Digitizer is not working

Hello. It isn't a Hardware Problem. It seems to be a software problem after Windows 8.1 Update. I have the same problem :-( When I start the PC it works perfect, until I used it as Tablet. After that the Digitizer Pen didn't work. So I reinstalled all drivers. After that the pen worked.. so I tested it again as Tablet, after that. the Digitizer Pen didn't work. Now I installed all drivers again but the Pen didn't worked. It is a big problem at Lenovo, because Lenovo has problems with the pen software a long time. It is soooo sad because I love the Thinkpad Yoga but with this Problem the price isn't acceptable. So I am going to send it back and wait for the Surface Pro 3. Because Thinkpad stands for the perfect Business Notebook and now... Lenovo has with the digitizer pen more problems than all others. And this is very sad :-(

Hi I hope someone can help me. I have had my S1 for about 10 months now and i have had no issues with the pen and using it. I used the pen last weekend in lectures, taking notes with no issues or problems and have gone to use it today, as part of my assignment, and it just isn't working at all. It doesn't matter if its in laptop, tent or tablet mode, i get no resposne from the pen at all. I have had a look in the device manager and have no issue notifications, but likewise, i can't locate anythingthat i think looks like the digital pen drivers (nothing Wacom in there). I have searched around the forums and o-line and can't seem to find anything that might help me. Have even searched, without finding, how to unistall and re-install the Wacom drivers. If anyone has any suggestions on how to diagnose and resolve this problem i would be really happy to receive them. many thanks for your help Chris

Today my digitizer stopped working for the first time since I purchased my Thinkpad Yoga several years ago. Touch screen still works as normal. I don't think it's software related because I dual boot Windows and Ubuntu and it doesn't work in either operating system. Before it would work in both operating systems, and I haven't had any updates since it was last working. Is it possible for the digitizer itself to be broken somehow? I haven't dropped the device or spilled any liquid on it. I've read elsewhere on the forum that the digitizer is powered by a capacitor that is charged within the laptop. Is this still true for Thinkpad Yogas? Are there steps I can take to diagnose the issue?

I've just recently recieved my brand new Thinkpad Yoga, and everything seems to be ok except the microphone. Under Recording Devices of Windows 8.1, the meter is showing no activitiy even with the boost and volume turned right up. Apps like Skype etc are showing no audio being received either. I've uninstalled the audio drivers completely and reinstalled which has made no difference. The driver reports that everything is ok too. I ran through the windows audio troubleshooting tool which reports no issues as well though it is clearly not working. Any suggestions of have I received an expensive duff laptop?

Hi, After working out that my laptop (Thinkpad Yoga S1) most likely has a digitizer, I purchased a pen for it. However, since I wasn't 100% sure, I bought a cheaper, off-brand pen that people said was compatible, the listing for which can be found here. I received it today, but my computer seems unresponsive when I try to use it. When I went to Wacom Pen or Pen and Touch Input, the pen calibration screens were either blank (Wacom) or didn't load (Input). Is there something else I have to do to make my pen work? Did I purchase the wrong pen? If it helps, the pen slot on my computer is still plugged; I was going to unplug it, but to do so I'd have to remove the back paneling, and one of the screws keeping it in place has been stripped. The thread confirming that my laptop has a digitizer is here. Thanks!

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga digitizer pen

Hi

Please notice that this is my personal opinon and it does not mean I'm 100% right, this is based on my experience.

I think that the "Digitizer PEN for Lenovo ThinkPad X60 X61 X200 X201" is for older Thinkpad models. I have a Thinkpad Yoga 14 (Similar to S1) (20DM008UUS) and it has a digitizer screen, but it requires an "active pen" (with batteries inside) to be able to work with the digitizer.

I have the Thinkpad Pen Pro and it works fine with my model. I still think you have a digitizer on your laptop but I think it is the wrong pen.

Here it also some more info about the pen that Amy wrote.

Regards.

Hey, does anybody know which pens are compatible with the Yoga 460?For me the pen tip feels a bit too hard on the display. I've had the Note 10.1 2014 with a better Pen and bought a Lenovo stylus. But they were passive digitizers...

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga 260 & 460 Digitizer

Hi, welcome to the forums.

I can only talk from my experience.  I have ThinkPad Pen Pro 4X80H34887 on my Thinkpad Yoga 14 ( 20DM008UUS ).
http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/itemdetails/4X80H34887/460/41E9A3C3FB5A45A9AC47C56812E4188C

For what I know (I may be wrong) the Pen Pro uses Wacom technology, it has a battery inside. I found it very nice with a nice size... but it depends on personal taste.

Can you post the full model number of the computer you want to check it will work with the pen?
I know that the Thinkpad Pen Pro web page may not say much. So, what I saw it was recomended on this forum was:
1) Check your computer model against the PSRef Books: http://psref.lenovo.com/
See if your model is listed with "Active Pen" support.

2) There is more information about the Thinkpad Pen Pro here: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/acc100178

There is also the Thinkpad Yoga Pen , but I don't have experience with that one, some amazon review says it does not have batteries and it focus for replacement for Thinkpad Yoga that came with pen... but I don't know.

Regards.

Answer:Digitizer to fit in thinkpad yoga

the wacom digitiser should be bonded to the LCD, and does not come as a separate part. http://support.lenovo.com/en_AU/product-and-parts/detail.page?&DocID=PD029829

I've seen several threads about this issue, but none that address my specific concern.

I have a ThinkPad Yoga 14. It did not come with a digitizer pen included. However, I suspect that the screen does in fact have a Wacom digitizer layer. My rationale is this:

My computer came pre-installed with the Wacom Pen Calibration Software
Device Manager reports the following HID devices:-- HID-compliant digitizer-- HID-compliant pen-- Wacom Device
When I run the Wacom Hardware Check (available here), it reports "You have hardware compatible with the Wacom FEEL driver."
All of the 20DM008 models listed at http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/179 support the active pen (I cannot find the 20DM008U++ model there for some reason)

However, the computer will not recognize the ThinkPad digitizer pen I purchased.

So, I suppose I have three questions:

Am I just misinterpreting what I am seeing in the Device Manager?
Is it possible that Lenovo installs the Wacom screen on all it's tablets, but disables them somehow on models not marketed as digitizer ready?
If so, is there any way for me to enable my screen to allow for digitizer use?

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga 14 - Digitizer Pen

Good day.

Looking at the models that support pen at the PSREF link you included, please notice that it specifies "Active Pen". This is not the same as the ThinkPad Digitizer Pen. That's why it won't work for you.

You need the newer, AAAA battery-powered Active Pen. Apologies, but I don't have a link for it.

Hey guys!I am looking forward to buy this beauty here: http://shopap.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/thinkpad/yoga-series/yoga-14/ it's the second one with the 256 GB ssd and i7.I already asked this question to the Facebook Page of Lenovo Australia and New Zealand, but the guys there didn't get it.Does this particular laptop come with a wacom digitizer? So could I use, let's say, a wacom intuos pen to draw, make sketches and write notes?I asked the guys on Facebook if the laptop comes with an active digitizer layer, but all they answered was "it doesn't come with an active pen". They didn't answer on my second question whether or not if it comes at least with a wacom digitizer. That's why I signed up here Thanks for your help!

I just purchased a refurbished Thinkpad S1 Yoga from outlet. The description mentioned nothing about coming with a pen or having digitizer compatibility although these descriptions are generally not very detailed to begin with. I was reading that some of these machines (FHD) with the same specs as mine don't come with a pen nor  compatibility and am not sure if those two features can exist separately.  I think the newer versions all have both. Is there a way to tell if mine's compatible or not? I don't think it will come with a pen and I don't want to open the box before finding out. Part number if it helps: MP053KKL-20CDCTR1WW Thanks.

Hello,I just bought a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 12 (20DL000SIX) that does not come with the pen apparently (I still have to receive it physically), but *does* have the full HD capacitive screen multitouch (1920 x 1080).I also bought separately the Thinkpad Yoga digitizer pen (4X80F22110).I spent a lot of time to understand if the two are compatible (i.e. the wacom digitizer is installed or not on the laptop), and on Lenovo website, following Products -> Accessories&Software -> Search For Compatible Accessories For Your System, it looks that indeed they are:http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/catalog.workflow:find-compati... I see that there are multiple posts on similar issue, confirming that the communication of Lenovo about pens and digitizer is really inadequate.I read in many places that the thinkpad yoga's that don't come with the pen do *not* have the digitizer. I also read that the full HD screens does have te digitizer. So, I'm getting confused...: my yoga does have the full HD but does not come with the pen included! There is no clear information anywhere and also the Lenovo  support (I called on the phone many times) is not satisfactive on this.Does anyone have the same model, or have a more clear idea on this topic? Thanks!Giulia

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga 12: digitizer? (20DL000SIX)

Hi giulsi

I also agree with you on this subject. There is much confusion with the "pens" on Thinkpad Yogas.
I think that Lenovo should specify better on the webpage (shop) which Thinkpad Yoga came with Active Pen, and on the Pen pages (also on the shop page) they should specify which models apply for it, and where to search if you computer has support for it.

How to know if you Thinkpad Yoga is Pen Compatible?
For the moment one thing that works to know if your Thinkpad is "Pen Compatible" is to search on the PSRef books.
http://psref.lenovo.com/
or
http://psref.lenovo.com/Book

I searched your model:
http://psref.lenovo.com/Detail/ThinkPad_Yoga_12?M=20DL000S%2B%2B
It says it has:

Pen
Digitizer pen

So that's good......
There are other models that says "Active Pen".. not sure if that means it only works with the "Thinkpad Pen Pro" or not.

How to resolve the question of which pen is good for you?
Thinkpad Yoga Pen suppor page:
https://support.lenovo.com/ec/es/documents/pd030464
It says "The ThinkPad Yoga Pen supports the ThinkPad Yoga." So it may also work.

I'm guessing that it will work, but please post back when you get your pen to see if it works with your model.
Regards

I learned that the digitizer with Helix cannot be used as an eraser, does the ThinkPad Yoga digitizer have the same problem? Thanks

Solved!

Go to Solution.

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga Digitizer Question

the digitiser pen on Helix, TPT2 and Yoga all lack the traditional eraser function of the traditional ThinkPad X series tablet. There is a side button on the digitiser pen, which you can use for eraser function. Alternatively, get the X series tablet digitiser pen which has an eraser function, they work with the ThinkPad Yoga (and is what i am using now).

Hi everyone. I am looking to buy a laptop for university (studying engineering). I would like something that is durable, and powerful. Thats why I am looking into getting the Thinkpad Yoga. I love the convertable and compact feel, as well as the SSD that I will be getting with it.  However, another reason why I wanted to get it is because of the 'Active Digitzer'. I didn't even know what this was called since a week ago, and I still cant seem to understand what this feature will allow me to do? How does the Digitzer benefit me? Especially when I compare it to the Yoga Pro 2 (even tough that also has a touchscreen). Am I unable to draw on a YP2? Would I not be able to draw on the screen? I want to use it mainly when I use Adobe Illutrator. Is the Digitzer option worth the extra money I have to pay? With that feature added on, I will be paying almost $2000 :s

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga: Is it worth it and Digitizer?

Hi there: I have been using X230T, a predessor of Thinkpad Yoga. X230T also comes with a digitizer. I bought X23)T also for a reason: I can take note during class. I am not an engineer but a finance student. 1. You might want an Active Digitizer because it allows you to write on-screen. Use Microsoft One Note. Your computer can replace your pen and paper.2. You can still draw on YP2. But what do you feel when you use your finger, say your pointer, as a pen  YP2 does not have a digitizer pen. 3. The pen I believe is included. You do not have to pay extra unless you want to have a spare one. 4. I think Lenovo Thinkpad has lost its quality legacy from IBM. I do not like the new layout of the keyboard (I like the trackpoint but the moust click now share with the trackpad. It is just ridiculous. You cannot have an accurate click with it (for me))5. Just look at the Microsoft new Surface pro 3. You might like it! If the next time I upgrade my computer, I would by a Surface pro instead of the Thinkpad.   Cheers

Hi, Could somebody please point me to the place where it list the digitizer in the Thinkpad Yoga as a Wocom? I see it all over in review sites, but I can't find it in the description or the product specifications. I'm interested in this model:20CD00AVUS, which I know includes a digitizer, but I want to make sure its definitely Wacom... they all just say "digitizer". So I guess what I am trying to figure out is:1. Are ALL digitizers installed in Thinkpad Yoga's the same, or do they vary in brand/quality?2. How can I find out if its a Wacom? Thanks for the help.

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga - Wacom Digitizer?

First off the digitizer technology consists of two parts the digitizer enabled screen and the digitizer pen. Second i'd say all the TPYs have the same digitizer Technology (both screen and pen) licensed from Wacom. So the pen itself is probably prdouced by Lenovo or a third party. --- By the way other products like the Surface Pro, Vaio Duo or Galaxy Note have the same technology built in and you can use there respective digitizer pens for the TPY as well.

I think there is only two options it either comes with the pen or it doesn't. The one that doesn't have the pen built into it doesn't support the pen because of the panel used. That is waht I remember when I was researching into this unit.

So like I do from time to time, I'm configuring a Thinkpad Yoga to mull over (window shopping until I can afford one) when I notice that there's no mention of a digitizer or pen functionality any more, anywhere. Did something happen to it? Pen support was a deal breaker for me.

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga - Digitizer not available anymore??

I noticed this missing info too when ordering my custom ThinkPad Yoga, so at checkout I added pen from the optional accessories. When my laptop arrived, it came with two pens! One inside the laptop package, and another in separate box. I suppose it might be their website issue or country-specific supply issue.

Hi, Today (or last night, not sure) three columns of my TPY 460's digitizer seem to have stopped working. Two of them are right next to each other, the third one a little further to the right. (I'm guessing the number of columns by the distance of the small dots that you can see on the display when you look at it from an angle). When I tap the pen onto the two defective columns, nothing happens, when I drag it across, it stops on one side and then jumps to the other. It's similar for the single column, but there isn't a complete stop and a jump, more of a non-linearity, the cursor moves slower, then faster, then slower again. For finger touch, the problem is similar. Is this a common problem that can be fixed by properly plugging  some cables or should I return the computer? (It's a demopool device, so I have no warranty, but I can return it within two weeks without a reason).

Hey, just in case someone is interested in pressure sensitivity for the Thinkpad Yoga.Try this driver from wacom ;-)http://www.wacom.eu/index4.asp?pid=9278&lang=de This morning I had a phone call with the Lenovo Support Europe regarding the subject, but all they were able was to tell me to send my brand new Yoga in. I can not tell you how disappointed I am from this support. They are hardly to understand and they know nothing!!! As an early adopter of the Thinkpad Tablet 1 this was not my first experience with them and the only reason to buy the Yoga was that there is no alternative for my kind of usage. Nevertheless I found the solution by my self and I can't tell you how happy I am. Not to be misunderstood, this is a problem of the european support I don't believe (or hope) that it is the same with the US support and especially the Lenovo Staff in this forum does a really good job!

Hi everybody, quick question: my Thinkpad x201 Tablet provided the option to deactivate finger input, i.e. use only the digitizer, which I quite like when making presentations, as this way no accidential input occurs when resting your hand on the screen while writing. I now bought a Thinkpad Yoga 2. Couldn't figure out yet how to deactivate finger input there. Any ideas? Any workarounds? Thanks a lot.

I am experiancing a strange problem with the pen/ digitiser: after waking up from standby, the pen seems to go into a frenzied clicking when i touch it to the screen, i.e. as if the pen is tapping the screen continously at very high speed. The problem goes away upon restarting the machine but comes back after standby. I have installed all windows and lenovo updates to no avail...any one familiar with the issue?

Answer:Thinkpad yoga 12 2015, pen digitizer issue after standby

On certain occasions after wake up from standby, the pen seems to stop working completely until a restart. It seems to be very intermittent.I looked for updates to the wacom driver on wacoms website, with no luck. Strangely enough, the current driver being used for the thinkpads (and presumably all tablet pc's) comes under their 'Legacy' drivers section!

I have just purchased the ThinkPad Yoga. I was wondering if there is a way to change what "handedness" you on when using the digitizer pen. I am left handed and the pen is obvioulsy configured to be used with your right hand. So when I write using the pen the writing and the pen tip to not match up like it is supposed to. It matches perfectly if I were to write something with my right hand but when I use my left hand, the writing is off (as in the letters do not match up to where I wanted to write them) Any information on this would be great, kind of anoying for trying to add notes in class. Thanks

Hello all, apologies if this is a duplicate issue, but my searches did not turn anything up. I just received my new TPY a couple of days ago and have been happily installing software. Today was the first time I really tried using my digitizer pen, as I finally had time to open Photoshop and Illustrator. In doing so, however, I discovered pen calibration is completely messed up for the top edge of the screen. I tested it outside of the Adobe programs and the same problems occur there. I have already gone in and tried recalibrating my pen more than once using the calibration tools in the Control Panel. Is this a known issue that I just need a driver update for or is this a hardware issue? Any help is appreciated. Thanks,Erika

Hey, I have this problem too, sort of. I've had my yoga 12 for about a month now and the internal microphone is no longer showing up in the device manager. Not only that, but my computer won't even detect an external microphone. I don't know that it's a problem with something you deleted (at least assuming we are having the same problem) because I didn't do that. I know this is a long way of saying I have no idea how to help you, but at least you know you aren't the only one? I've tried reinstalling drivers and I can't think of what else to do.

I have a Lenovo G50-70 with Windows 10 Home (version 1703, Build SO 15063.413), 64 bit operating system. The built-in camera doesn't work and so the built-in microphone (I'm not able to record anythin and I can't use any videonferencing software and neither talk with anyone). When I was on Windows 8.1 thse devices were working normally. Is there any solution (e.g. an external webcam or an external microphone) that can solve this issue or I ahve to downgrade to Windows 8.1 ? Thanks in advance for any help. Michele

Answer:Lenovo G50-70 camera (and microphone) not working with Windows 10

Windows 10 added some new security/privacy settings, so assuming you have all the latest drivers installed (which you should check), you may just need to enable applications to access the camera and microphone via Windows 10's privacy settings.  Press the Windows Key + i to open the Settings window, and select Privacy (the lock icon)From the left pane in the resulting window, select Camera, and make sure that the "Let apps use my camera hardware" option is enabledNext scroll down the list of "applications that can use your camera" below, and make sure that the camera is enabled for use by the application you are trying to use.The process is similar for enabling the microphone to bypass the Windows 10 privacy settings. I do not see any new drivers for the sound card, or camera that have been released since 2016, but you can check to be sure you have the latest versions using the tool linked below.  Lenovo System Update Utilityhttps://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht080136 Good Luck,

I had to reformat a ibm thinkpad x41 1866-cxu ,  and the digitizer pen will not work, i tried the system update,  but it will not open, and im at the end of my witts here on this problem,  any help would be appreciated.  I have windows xp tablet edition on it,  and the pen worked before i reformated and re-installed windows. i don't know what else to do...

Answer:ibm thinkpad x41 1866-cxu digitizer pen not working

Couple of questions for you: 1) How did you reinstall windows? Did you use the IBM Recovery CDs *, Reload the OS with F11 *,  or install a market version of XP Tablet? * I'd highly recommend using the original IBM image to ensure there are no issues with drivers!! 2) Did you update all the Tablet drivers? If not, go to this website to install the driver: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-60154 You may want to also use the ThinkVantage System Update Tool to check for missing drivers (Start->Programs->ThinkVantage->System Update) - If you don't have our original preload installed, download this utility from here:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=TVSU-UPDATE This should at least get you started. Best,Mark

I just got a brand new Yoga 12, and it has the integrated stylus in the laptop. When i first set it up, I was able to use the stylus to hand write in a program like one note. Let's say I close my laptop, and walk to a different room, when I open it back up from sleep mode, touch screen still works, but the computer doesn't respond at all to the stylus. No handwriting support, no touch support with the pen, only my capactive fingers. I find this very odd, and it works when I restart, but this seems to be a common issue with my peers who have Yoga 12's as well. Is there a fix for this? my wacom drivers are up to date, not sure if I should buy another stylus if this issue is recurring or not.

Hello everyone,

I'm back on this forum because I had another issue... See my first one : http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/T400-T500-and-newer-T-series/T440p-camera-not-working-windows-8-1/m-p/18...
There was a problem with the cable between the camera/microphone combo card and the daughter card. Now the camera is working properly. A technician replaced the cable.

But I realized that my internal microphone is not working. I don't remember if it worked once...

My microphone is not muted, and I reinstalled the real-teck drivers. When I try to use the "listen" option in the microphone properties, I here a sort of wideband noise (let's call it white noise).

Do you have any suggestions that might help?

Thank you very much

I've had my thinkpad Edge 531 for about five months now, but this problem has always been there. In several applications (skype, youcam, sound recorder) the microphone would spontaneously go from being clear to inaudibly quiet and unclear. I have had this issue calling multiple and in talking to myself in test files. The volume I speak at has no impact on the issue, skype's volume is set to maximum with automatic volume adjustment shut off. Microphone settings within windows sound settings are also set to maximum with the maximum mic boost. None of this seems to help anything. I uninstalled the Lenovo communications utility completely as well. With all that said, I sent my laptop in to get this problem fixed. They replaced the palmrest,  the power input, and some part of the motherboard, according to the sheet. It also was bricked within 12 hours of me getting it back (!!!), and the mic problem was still not fixed. I returned it to them again to be ressurected with a detailed explanation of the problem and the mic isue still hasn't been fixed. Apparently they are convinced it's a software issue since they aren't replacing the mic, so to be sure- am I incompetent, am I missing something? Is anyone else having trouble with the Thinkpad edge mics? I know I could just buy an external mic, but it's the principle of the thing. It's the least they could do after returning the machine to me broken.

Hello there,After experiencing dropping network connections under Windows XP I've upgraded to Windows 7. The laptop is running nicely, and everything is working (including audio), except the microphone. This is a little frustrating as I use Skype for work. When I look the recording devices, the microphone is listed as currently unavailable:No devices appear to be disabled in the device manager:When I first installed Windows 7, it was a bit of a struggle getting some programs up and running. Audio was an issue, and I believe the drivers came down via Windows update (although I also tried installing the ones from the Lenovo website so I'm not sure now which actually worked).I'm at a loss for what else to do, except go back to Windows XP - but I'm reluctant to do this as Windows 7 is working a lot better than I expected and fixed the previous problem with wireless networking via different PCMCIA cards. Any thoughts as to what else I can try? Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!Regards,Stu.

hey moonklash, welcome to the forums.via device manager, uninstall the audio driver. this will then make windows install its own generic driver.once generic driver has been installed, test your mic and see if it works.if it does and the audio is fine, you can leave it as it is or you could head over to http://support.lenovo.com and install the audio driver that is available here.

Hi Nakul,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that internal microphone in your Lenovo ThinkPad W510 is not working properly.

Check if microphone is enabled in the Bios, under security, IO port access or in windows through control panel, sound, recording, select microphone. If you right-click on the microphone, you can select Properties and you'll be able to adjust all the settings for it. Make sure that the volume is at a decent level. In the advanced tab, try changing the default format and check.

Hope this helps!

Best regards,
Mithun.

I have a problem where the digitizer pen interittently stops working on the yoga S1 - win8.1 x64 with all updates applied.I can re-create the issue by folding the screen from normal mode to  tablet mode, then normal mode , then tablet mode. At this point, the pen susually stops working. I can get it to come back to life sometimes if i wait a minute, or if i go to power settings and apply / un apply something or by restart. It sounds like a driver issue to me - and possiby power management drivers - triggered by swithcing to tablet mode.I have tried max perfromance, min power savings etc to stop the screen driver being starved of power, have disabled sleep and hibernation. Done multiple driver re-installs, but no difference. Sometimes restarting the drivers relating to the pen and touch screen bring it back to life. But it should not die in the first place. Anyone else have this or do i have a hardware issue?

Hello again. After posting the fact that my L520 Win 7 64 bit occasionally froze, I got a reply suggesting that the memory might need upgrading, so I decided to take the advice and upgraded to 8GB. I also decided to upgrade to Windows 8 64 bit. Not a good experience. I had all sorts of difficulties getting the machine to work and had to resort to the Lenovo support site to download driver updates. Unfortunately, the built in camera, which uses the Ricoh driver 1.1.0.1132 dated 4/10/2010 isn't compatible with Windows 8. After several frustrating hours searching the web, I gave up and called Lenovo support. I was shocked to receive their advice which is to RE-INSTALL WINDOWS 7! They said that this would be straight forward, but I would lose all my data!I really don't fancy that idea, but do need to get my camera working as I use SKYPE quite a lot.Has anyone got a solution? Also, for what its worth, with the larger RAM and being on Windows 8 - the laptop still occasionally freezes. I think there may be a bug in the Trackpad software? Thanks

Hi together! I'm going to my next Thinkpad and was keen on the TP Yoga 15...and since I've read about the Intel 3D sense camera etc., my decision was set....BUT I couldn't find any option to upgrade a Yoga with this 3D camera...according the Spec-sheet it is an option... I hope to get an answer on my question here in this forum. I've contacted already the official seller in my city, the support team (seller and tech-support) and asked for more information concerning the 3D cam. for the TP Yoga 15. The seller in my city told me he didn't know anything about the 3D cam...the hotline-seller told me, he doesn't have any information whether, where (country) and which Lenovo TP can be ordered with the 3D cam...And the tech-support is of course useful, but was useless for this kind of questions... Does anybody can tell me, whether the praised 3D cam is available for the Thinkpad Yoga 15 or 14 or any other sizes?...or even for any other Thinkpads? If it depends on country, which country? I'm thankful for any additional information! ...I hope it isn't a PR like the 'HD-Ready' stuff years ago  Best regards Jay

Hi there, I'm well aware that there are a few of these problems listed for last year but I've tried a lot of what is given as solutions to the problem and I have not yet discovered why mine isn't working.- My camera used to work fineI was using it all the time, every day last year to speak to someone via skype etc. Now that i'm with them I hadn't had any use for it.-It no longer is even recognised by the machine.Lenovo Settings doesn't list a camera options menu, the device manager doesn't even have 'Imaging Devices' listed whatsoever. Here is proof: http://imgur.com/NY0VS0T-What did I do?I possibly deleted something while I was doing a PC clean up of stuff I didn't use (my laptop was starting to run sluggish and some spring cleaning really boosted the speed). This might be my fault but i'm hoping I can un-break it. So my question is this...-What Drivers, Programs & Facilities do I need to download again to make the camera work?I thank everyone so much in advance for their help

Hi Can you check the Windows "Device Manager" and see if by any chance is there a device that is not recognize or does not has the correct drivers? I have a Thinkpad Yoga 14 and there is a driver that detects if it on laptop or slate mode. When it came to driver I always try:1)"System Update" utility from Lenovo. If you do not have it already installed check it here. 2) The Intel Driver Update Utility,. to update Intel drivers. AMD has his own tool. (Under your own risk) 3) If you have experience installing drivers on Windows. I found it very usefull to use DriverEasy. It offers good enought (freeware) driver recognition of the things installed on your machine. But please notice that installing the wrong driver may screw things up. (Under your own risk) Remember that Intel Driver Update Utility and DriverEasy are not supported by Lenovo, this is only a suggestion to try to get the latest driver for your machine. Regards

Hi all, I had my screen replaced under warranty a few months ago due to the retention problem, after I got it back I noticed the webcam wasn't working I didn't put much thought into it and thought i had to update drivers since it had been replaced. Now I have come to get to the bottom of the problem and realised its looking like a hardware problem as windows reports the camera is not connected in device manager and no tricks seem to get it working. Looking at other posts it seems that it may be an issue withe folding design of the yoga putting stress on the connecting cables. Either that or it was not re-connected properly during the warranty repair which seems to make more sense..... Unfortunately my warranty has now expired (a couple of months) so it leaves me in a terrible predicament, does anyone have any ideas or anyone from Lenovo able to help me?  Thanks Steve

Hello, I've got a problem with my Integrated Camera drivers/ Audio drivers. I believe the driver should be for the integrated camera, as microphone is on the same board. Anyway, after switching to Windows 10, my microphone stopped working. I've downloaded the driver from the website but the installation was stopped by either message "This app doesn't work on Windows10" or "Device not found" (I assume the microphone as the camera works.) When I go to skype settings and choose the microphone, the field is stated as "NONE" . Could someone give me information about what is going on, as it is really annoying? Thanks

Welcome to TSF,

Go to your computer's Device Manager (right click My Computer, select Manage, locate Device Manager) find the devices in question and see if there are any symbols (? X or !) on the Webcam and any other devices. If found, right click and choose uninstall, reboot your computer and see if your computer will automatically install the drivers.

If that didn't work, please visit the Sony site and driver the latest drivers for the webcam and audio.

Hello, my Y500's microphones and webcam do not work. I installed all drivers, with special remark on the energy management software and the camera and audio drivers. The installs clompleted successfully, but no signal. Interesting is, that there is an acoustic feedback resulting from signals  I play over the built in speakers. But you can not record that sound. playing it on another audio device works(I can hear what I play using the built in speakers in my headphones when activating "use device as audio input" in the microphone settings. I need that camera! thank you! regards

Hi,

When I connect Thinkpad Yoga (model 20CD00B1US) to the onelink dock, the stylus stops working.

In order to enable the stylus and Wacom driver following 2 options/ workarounds:
1)  Manually stop and restart the Wacom ISD Service
2) or reboot the machine while the Onelink dock is attached.

I'm using the latest 7.2.0-4 Wacom driver version, all latest lenovo software installed installed on the machine.

Both above mentioned workarounds are ugly, does anybody have a better suggestion to fix this issue?

Had the same issue - a BIOS update just release about a week ago fixed it for me.

I've had my TPY for a little over a year without any issues, but today I lost the ability to use the following keys: Backspace, Windows, Left-Shift, T, Y, Tab, Capslock, [, ]  in addition to some of the function keys. Using the onscreen keybaord or an external usb keyboard works just fine. I am unable to use the tab key at the BIOS screen, so it appears to be a hardware issue. This seems to be a common problem for these keys in particular for various Lenovo models and even some Dells. I have tried reinstalling the keyboard drivers as suggested in other posts, and I have tried reseating the keyboard connection according to this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxHKvpI8Wvc I bought this unit from the MS store with only a 1 year warranty (which is now up), so I'm not sure what to do. I can try replacing the keyboard but it appears others have had only limited success with replacement. Has anyone else dealt with this problem?

Update for anyone else who runs into the same problem: I ordered a replacement keyboard off of eBay and used the online hardware replacement manuals to take apart my TPY and switch out the keyboard. Everything is working like normal again!

I have bought that laptop few days ago without OS, as I already own Win 7, which I just installed. I have downloaded drivers from official Lenovo website for Win7(x64) and install them (exept of those which are not obligatory, like "OneKey Optimizer). The problem is: The buil-in mic works on very fresh Win7 installation (without any drivers), but but when I install without Dolby Home Theater v4 (taken from official Lenovo site as an audio driver) it stops working. It is still on the "recording devices" list, although the scale does not longer move. When I roll back to the default audio driver it starts to work again, but when I restart system the problem is coming back, and I have to do the same once again in order to use bulid-in microphone. The same problem is with build-in camera which is working only if I do the already described procedure (tested on Firefox Hello - when the mic is not working I get a message that the mic and camera is not detected).Important - I have NOT installed "Intel Wireless Display Driver for Windows 7 (64-bit)" as the installer does not allow me to do so. It says that there is no proper device detected in my laptop, so I assumed that my model is not equpped with that device and ingored it, althout the driver is available in "Win7 x64" category. Is it somehow connected?

Hopefully one of you knowledgeable people can help me out where support fell short.  I have a y500 notebook. Both my intergrated microphone and camera have mysteriously stopped working (they both worked fine a few weeks ago). My camera is not even showing up under device manager. I have been searching around the forums and it seems like a few other people have had this problem, and were able to solve it by using Fn + Esc to enable their camera. Unfortunately when I hit this on my computer there is no appreciable response, is there some other way to activate your camera without using this hotkey (which doesn't seem to be working on my comp)?  As for the microphone, I have no idea how to fix it.I have been through the process of re-installing the camera drivers, it did nothing unfortunately.  Thanks!

Also, does my model ( HP Envy dv7-7323cl ) has Drivers support from HP for windows 10? Because when I looking for Drivers on Hp website and selecting my laptop model its gives only two options to download drivers for Windows 8 and 8.1. I don't know if going back windows 7 is a good idea? Thank You,Mazhar

Hi, Since 1 month I am experienced a problem that is making me mad with my Y510p, My intern microphone and camera just work when they want to work, and when I put a headset sometimes the microphone don't get a higher volume. Just to let you know: I TRIED EVERYTHING. Uninstalled drivers, re-installed, Restored the laptop, change all configurations. Put the maximum volume in everything, and nothing. The microphone is enabled, volume 100, maximum boost, and the green bars don't appear. And now the Webcam is not working... What I can do? I bought this laptop six months ago. Please propose a solution for this because I'm very upset. Thank you for your comprehension.

I have been unable to use the onboard microphone in my laptop. I don't know exactly when this started, but there are other weird issues that are accompanying it. First, when I use F4 to try to toggle the mute, it always shows that it is muted on screen, instead of toggling the microphone from mute to unmuted and back, like the camera toggle, or touchpad input toggle keys do. Also, when I plugged a small microphone into the audio jack, it created a pop-up to ask if it was headphones or speakers with no other option. So for now, plugging in a microphone also doesn't work. I have uploaded/ reset some drivers and it keeps telling me I have the best driver available, so what gives?

Answer:Yoga 910 Microphone Not Working

Hi there, In2 -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Reverting to the Microsoft Built in Driver
Open Device Manager
Under Sound and game controller Right click on the sound adapter and click on update driver
On the prompt of update driver click on  Browse my computer for Driver Software
On the next window Click on let me pick from a list of device driver

Now you will have a list of drivers already available in your system,
If your system has a Lenovo Supplied driver plus a Microsoft built in driver, then you should have at least two drivers on the list

If you see a High definition Audio then that should be the Microsoft built in, click that and install it.

Update us how it goes.

I cannot get sound recording to work on my new 910. I've tried removing all drivers and installing the latest drivers but the problem is the same. I just get noise rather than a recording. It means I can't use Skype or any other application that needs to use the microphone. I've run out of things to try. It does work when I connect an external headset via USB so it just seems to the internal device that doesn't work. Would appreciate any suggestions.

Hey all, I've been trying to use cortana for some time now and the voice recognition never works. I go to "Cortana and Search Settings",  and it shows the voice recognition as being on. Then I click on "Microphone: Make Sure Cortana can hear me" and I'm taken to a troubleshooting page that says "Set up your microphone." When I click that, it takes me to a screen that asks me to read a phrase, but it never registers my voice. The green bar moves slightly sometimes but always still in the red area and it doesn't even move when I screem. I am not on mute or anything. Then an error message comes up telling me it can't hear me. However, when I click on the speaker button and go to "Recording Devices" the microphone comes up under sound and has a small voice recognition bar that goes up when I talk and seems to be fine. So the microphone seems to be working fine there, but just won't recognize my voice when I try to set up Cortana. Any ideas?

Hello! My microphone is not receiving sound when I try to use the webcam for one of my classes. All of the updates are current and I have made sure that all of the properties in the settings of the microphone are enabled. Is there anything else that could be wrong besides a hardware issue? Thanks!

Hi all! I am now owning my Yoga 2 for a week and since yesterday I tried Dragon and Skype, but had to realize that the internal microphone(s) are not working! I reinstalled the drivers automatically as well as manually, deactivated the device, deactivated the Lenovo Smart Voice App and changed any possible settings for mics (put it of course to maximum levels).  The Lenovo hotline here in Germany has no clue and only suggested to wait for new drivers. Does anyone else has the same problem or do I have a faulty machine? In combination with the yellow-problem I am tempted to return the Yoga 2 as long as I can. Because if it is a hardware problem, the repair will take up to 2 weeks. Does anyone have suggestions for alternatives? Thanks!

Hi,Someone used my notebook recently, and while trying to modify the microphone settings, may have accidentally deleted the microphone software.  When I look at the recording devices tab, I see "No recording devices found" and my microphone does not work.  I updated to the newest version of the Audio driver, but this didn't seem to solve the problem. There are no recording devices listed under the Device Manager at this point either.  Any ideas?  Many thanks for any help.

onboard microphone not working. tried plugging in an external microphone to no avail. unit is newly bought. this is a very bad experience for me. first it was the micro hdmi, now this. it seems Lenovo produces defective products. i will never ever buy anything Lenovo again! researching the issues i'm having, i've read so many people have the same problem. both micro hdmi and microphone are defective. it's a hardware issue, hence a factory defect right out of the gate.

Hi All, I recently purchased my Yoga 13. I'm having an issue with the microphone. While trying to set up skype I couldn't get the microphone working. I initially checked to make sure the microphone wasn't on mute... and it wasn't.  I then tried the following:- windows voice recorder which didn't register my voice- disabling and enabling the microphone- uninstalling and reinstalling the driver - going through windows troubleshoot wizard which couldn't find anything. Has anyone had this issue with their Yoga 13 or have any advice what I could try next? Many thanks!

Thanks for posting and welcome to the Lenovo Community,

Could you please try to uninstall the audio drivers Conexant Audio Driver for Microsoft Windows 8 and reinstall them again,

And please change the settings on Skype to set the default Speaker and Microphone to be the audio driver,

And after that please try again to enter Search and type Troubleshoot on the settings tab and select troubleshoot and then Hardware and Sound and then Recording audio,

And share with us the status of the recording after these steps.

Hope the information helps. Let us know.

Has anyone had any luck solving this issue? When I skype the person on the other end can barely hear me when I speak at normal volume. It also does not work when I plug in my headset (with microphones attached) into the audio jack, I have tried three different headsets.I have spoken at/into the laptop microphone (without the headsets pluged in) and it made no difference in volume for the other side.I made sure that the mic is not muted or anything, its just not picking up on my voice very well, or at all.

hey megs,do an uninstall of the audio drivers. let windows install its generic drivers.test the unit's mic via Sound Recorder. see if that works; also do check at http://support.lenovo.com that your audio drivers are the latest.
