Lenovo U31-70 cannot detect bluetooth headphone as playback device

Question: Lenovo U31-70 cannot detect bluetooth headphone as playback device

I have an issue with the Bluetooth connection of my Lenovo U31-70 notebook. Even I have connected and paired my Bluetooth headphone, the notebook still cannot detect it as a playback device. It just connected as a device categorized as unknown rather than an audio device. What should I do to let my notebook detect my Bluetooth headphone as an audio playback? PS In the photo, BeoH5 is my Bluetooth headphone, but it did not show as a playback device.

Preferred Solution: Lenovo U31-70 cannot detect bluetooth headphone as playback device

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

After installing WIndows 8 on my Y480 laptop, I execute the setup for the bluetooth driver but it says no device was detected. I still installed the driver by running the driver installer file directly but after it is done, windows 8 shows the blue tooth device as off, and it also doesn't show in the device manager. I can't turn on wireless since the fn+f5 key doesn't work even with Energy Management installed (instead it turns on airplane mode on or off which is functionality by Windows 8). Any way I can turn bluetooth on without using fn + f5? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I have a Kensington Bluetooth Stereo Headset that pairs just fine with my PC, but it never appears as a playback device that I can set as default speakers.

I have already double checked and re-installed all bluetooth and audio drivers... with no luck.

Does anyone know how I can make Vista see/recognize the headset as a playback device that I can select as default?

Tks

I posted this question to the Microsoft Community and was advised by a Microsoft Support person that I should post it here only because my computer is connected to a domain at my work (though my problem is completely unrelated to network connectivity or
domain issues). Below is my situation:
This problem is driving me insane. I was happily connecting my BT headphones (Motorola SF600) to my Win7 (enterprise) computer at work for over a year, but a few weeks ago, it stopped automatically using my headphones as a playback device when it
connects.

I would open Playback Devices from my speaker icon near the clock and I would see the BT headset as an option, but when I right-click it, the Connect choice was grayed out. I kept searching online for a solution and most of them had to do with unpairing
and re-pairing the headphones, which I have tried many, many times, to no avail.

I finally decided to try to uninstall and reinstall the Widcomm stack with the latest download on their website. When I got Widcomm reinstalled, I then tried to pair the headphones again. I had reset the headphones back to factory to erase all previous
connections that it had before. I was able to pair them successfully and they showed up in the BT Devices screen. When I double-click them, they show as connected to the computer. But when I choose Playback Devices from the speaker icon, this time there are
no BT devices at all, even though I have checked both "show disabled devices"... Read more

I need to find a way to disable my bluetooth audio device from being a Playback Device, or at least to prevent it from changing my Default playback device from my Audigy 2 soundcard everytime I connect my headset.

I however still need it as the default recording device.

Any help would be great. Thanks

I have a bluetooth headset, and I've paired/added it to my laptop. I check all its services and the drivers installed fine. But for some reason, the sound still goes through the speakers. I went to Control Panel->Hardware and Sounds->Sounds and it only showed 2 entries- Digital Audio (HDMI) and Speakers. There was no entry for a bluetooth headset.

I've once tried installing WIDCOMM bluetooth software. It worked at first, but later it couldn't connect to my device and had problems starting its stack service.

Answer:Unable to set bluetooth headset as (default) playback device

with widcomm if that happens remove the device and then pair again

I have pulled up the menu on two different systems here, the S7-391 and the AZ3-710.

Both have that specific option (Allow a device to connect) grayed out and cannot be selected.
Both are using Windows 10.
I am finding posts from several years ago with this issue, mostly threads on the Microsoft boards, it does not appear to be a hardware issue with the computer and may be an operating system issue.

My setup:
Windows 7 64bit Prof (on a suped up PC)
Asus BT211 - BT 2.1 + EDR (full A2DP support with latest Win7 64bit drivers - Broadcom Bluetooth 2.1 +EDR driver version 6.3.5.430 (4/8/10)
Sony DR-BT101 Headphones - (Microsoft says they're compatible)

PROBLEM:
All BT devices successfully installed and appear to be working. I can even find the A2DP device if I show all hidden devices in Device Manager. The headset pairs with no problems, Remote, Headset, Handsfree Telephony, and Audio Sink Services are available under device properties. However, non of the headphone services are available under "Playback Devices" or "Recording Devices".

When I right-click on the Bluetooth system tray icon and select "Open Settings" then click on the "Audio" tab I can see all of the active services from my headset. All services show "disconnected" below them. When I right-click on a service (with the headphones on and in connectible mode - steady flashing blue) I can select "Connect" (the only place in Win7 I've found the connect function). When I try to connect, it shows "Connecting" for a minute or two then goes back to "Disconnected". The headset never appears to respond.

SO... basically it appears everything should be working, but for some reason it isn't. I can PAIR but I can't CONNECT. I can install services but I can't actually use any of them.

I've tried everything, there must be something... Read more

Hello I am having a repeat issue with a MediaLink Bluetooth 4.0 adapter recently purchased. I purchased one as a gift for another and they had this same issue but I was able to get it resolved for them and cannot remember how I did it. The problem was when plugging the dongle into any of multiple ports windows doesn't even flinch. Device doesn't light up, simply nothing happens.

Completely undetected.

I have tried it on an HP Elite desktop with Windows 7 Ultimate and a Dell Vostro Laptop with XP on it.

I remember one part of the solution was to not use the included CD drivers from the company or the ones available from their site as per their own instructions it was suggested I use Broadcom's direct driver download utility which I did. But this is useless if the device is undetectable to begin with, it's as good as dead to the computer. I also disabled my anti-virus momentarily wondering if it could be the culprit as it usually is.

I have searched around and found no solution, any ideas?

I have Lenovo 3000 Y410 laptop having Windows 7 Home Premium installed on it. Realtek HD Audio latest driver is installed. But from the last 3 days, when I connect headphone through laptop, following things happen : -
1) Headphone connected popup doesn't show up.
2) Mic of Headphone connected pop shows up.

3) When I play video, sound coming from both headphone & laptop speakers.
4) When I mute sound by muting sound icon in taskbar, sound then comes only from headphone.

What I have tried?
1) Installed new Realtek HD Audio Manager.
2) Installed OS again.
3) Tried to change settings in Realtek Hd Audio Manager. But Nothing changes.

When I input headphone & mic jacks into laptop, & then check Realtek HD Audio Manager. The following image shows this : -

The green in realtek hd audio manager is for headphone & red is for mic. In the image, it is shown that headphone not connected & mic connected. But even headphone not connected shows up, sound coming form headphone.

I want to get sound from only headphone when headphone is connected. Is this a hardware problem ?

Please help....

Answer:Sound coming from both headphone & speaker but headphone is not detect

My Realtek HD Audio Manager has more options than yours.

Also, I notice you only have the microphone in the Recording Section of the Sound Panel. RIGHT click in an empty space in that Panel and then LEFT click Show Disabled and Disconnected devices. The Stereo Mix should be shown and you can enable that and make it the default Recording device.

Where did you get the RealTek driver that you installed? If you are not using the Lenovo supplied sound driver, get that and install it as a first step. I have a Lenovo Laptop and it has Stereo Mix and other functions. I haven't looked at the RealTek HD manager so I'm not sure what all it shows.

Hello, For no reason that I know of, the bluetooth facility on my little S10e has stopped working. I noticed a couple of times when shutting down I got a "BTstackserver" not responding message. I use the laptop to regularly download from a bluetooth enabled device. today, when I go to connect, I am told 'bluetooth device not found'.'Verify that your bluetooth device is properly connected and turned on'. The hardware manual shows the LED config and this is correct, If I press 'Fn' and 'F5' keys, I get the menu to turn on and off both the wireless and Bluetooth. I can enable and disable both wireless and Bluetooth with this menu option BUT when I enable bluetooth, I get the message 'One of the USB devices attached to the system has malfunctioned or is not recognised'. I have removed the installed Bluetooth software and re-installed using both bluetooth install files published on my S10e drivers list on lenovo. Neither one works. I know that you need to install from C:\DRIVERS dir once the installer has finished unpacking. I have tried various other obvious things but with no success. I also enabled 'Bluetooth co-operation' in the wireless lan settings. All I can do now is get at the Bluetooth device under the keyboard cover and have a look at that? Anyone got any suggestions before I get the screwdriver out? (The device is out of warranty).

Hi,For quite some time now I've been having problems with Bluetooth (BT) devices on my T500 Win7 64 bit with devicesranging from like my older Nokia C2-01 mobile phone to my new UE ROLL 360 wireless speakers. at this stage the BTicon appeared correctly upon startup and in the device manager there where no errors, whereas the BT devices wereidentified as:a. Hi, so I own a Lenovo G500s and everythings working fine yet I have two problems: 1) When i open the device manager it shows me 5 bluetooth peripheral devices that have a missing or wrongfully installed driver.Detais of the first device :Device Type : Other devicesManufacturer : unknownLocation : Microsoft Bluetooth ListHardware IDs:  BTHENUM\{0000111f-0000-1000-8000-00805f9b34fb}_VID&0001000f_PID&0000                             BTHENUM\{0000111f-0000-1000-8000-00805f9b34fb}_LOCALMFG&0045So I tried reinstalling the driver recommended from lenovo http://mobilesupport.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds035488 but nothing changed. Where can I find the missing drivers? 2) The second problem is probably related to the first.Everytime I start the laptop I get a usb device sound right after the startup even though I don't have anything plugged into the usb ports. So I'm guessing it's trying to connect to the peripheral devices... Did anyone here have the same problem or can help me solve this? Thank you in advance! Kind regards Jens

Answer:Lenovo G500s Bluetooth Peripheral Device Drivers missing

hi Jens,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Regarding your concerns:
1. From this link  that hardware ID is pointing to a Bluetooth Hands-free Audio Gateway by Broadcom.

Since you already installed the Bluetooth driver, can you try one of the following:
a. Navigate to the C:\Drivers\Bluetooth\Broadcom and run the setup.exe file to re-install the Broadcom Bluetooth Driver
b. Follow this guide on how to manually install the BTHENUM device driver (point the driver to the  C:\Drivers\Bluetooth\Broadcom folder).
c. Install the WIDCOMM Bluetooth Software

2. If you have a bluetooth headset / speaker that was previously connected before, it's possible that these devices are automatically pairing themselves to the machine everytime you restart. Try to check if installing the Bluetooth driver in problem #1 resolves the issue.

Hello, I have an IdeaPad V750 and the Bluetooth option won't show sometimes in the Lenovo Wireless Device Settings. Sometimes I'm able to see it, activate it and use it, but some other times when I turn my computer on is like the Bluetooth device is not installed. It's like I turn the computer on and the Bluetooth is there, then when I turn it off and on again the device is not there,it looks to be random. Anyone have this problem? How can I fix it? Any recommendations? Thanks!

Answer:Bluetooth won't show in Lenovo Wireless Device Settings - V750

hi mnmontero,

thanks for posting and welcome to the community. Wireless devices can be a frustrating issue, but however there something I need to clearify with you. You mentioned that you have the IdeaPad v750. I checked our database and however we couldn't locate the Model you mentioned. This is probably a typo error but if you could just reconfirm the model that would be great as this would narrow down on the type of machine you are using.

Do let us know and we'll see how we can assist further with your issue,

regards

I cannot get my computer to discover my wireless bluetooth speaker. Ive made sure it is in pairing mode and that the firewall is not blocking the connection. When I search bluetooth on my computer all that shows up is bluetooth file transfer.

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad T440s wont find bluetooth device

Assuming Windows 7, go here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-bluetooth-device-settings#1TC=windows-7 Then go to this section: To control how your computer pairs with Bluetooth enabled devices See if that helps.

I could have sworn this laptop had Bluetooth on it, at one point.  However, if I press the F9 button, nothing happens.  I have looked in the device manager, and I can see no reference to Bluetooth.  Tried downloading from the website the Bluetooth software, ThinkPad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software, just as it gets to the end of the installation process it says there is no Bluetooth device. Thanks in anticipation for any help offered.

Answer:is there Bluetooth on the Lenovo ThinkPad edge E520, should there be a driver in device manager?

Here are my "relevant" system specs:
CPU: 5960X
Motherboard: ASUS Rampage V Extreme

This seemed to have worked fine under Windows 7, but it stopped working awhile ago, I "think" about the time I upgraded to Windows 10. My Line-in will not playback any audio through my headset, I'm looking at my Recording Devices and I notice that the microphone on my headset is receiving sound when I talk into it (the volume bars increase/decrease depending on how loud I talk), but after plugging my monitor into my Line-in and also trying my phone, I cannot seem to get more than 1 bar of sound. I tried two different cables, same results. I know for a fact that Realtek HD is detecting when I plug something into the port, as SupremeFX appears and wants me to confirm which port I plugged something into.

Can someone help me on the issue?

Brand new head phones plugged into front panel jack. Its set as default communication device and works fine with skype etc...

Hi there!
I've got exactly the same problem. It is so frustrating. Did you ever figure it out!?
I'm just stuck on 'default communications device'.

Hi, I was just wondering if the Y580 is capable of playing through the headphone jack and the speakers? I tried enabling the stereo mix option in the recording devices and setting it so you can listen it. I tried both options in using the playback through the audio output and the speakers but it seems like when i set it to the default device it creates feed back and its just a mash of sounds. But when i set it to the device that's not the default it does nothing. Anyone have a solution to this?

Answer:Headphone detect as speakers windows 7

Detection is a driver issue. Try using a different version of the Realtek drivers.

From past experience, Realtek and Win7 don't work well together. Trial and error to find a driver version that will work...if you are lucky. I finally gave up and switched to an addon sound card.

So, I have a laptop with a single headphone jack, and it has the little symbol with both an headphone and a mic.
I have bought a V-moda boom pro mic. The microphone is integrated in the cable, and the tip that goes in the jack has four "parts", as it should be. The headphones work just fine, the moment I plugged it in the sound came to my headphones, but the computer just keeps using the integrated mic instead of the one on the cable. I have checked the sound settings, nothing changes, neither in the Realtek manager.

The microphone came with a splitter, and i even tried plugging in only the mic part, but still nothing.

unfornatly, i don't have any other exterernal mic to test the jack with, and as far as I know, everything is updated

Answer:Combo headphone jack does not detect mic

Welcome to the TenForums.

If you right the speaker in task bar and then select recording devices, does your headset mic appear on list?

If you click your headset mic once and then click properties can you set levels?

I purchased this laptop about two weeks ago from Dell.com.
The first time I plug in the headphone was a week ago and it worked.
However today when I plugged in the headphone (this is the second time), the laptop cannot detect my headphone. When I open the "Sounds" menu, my headphone is not even listed under the "Playback" tab, nor does the laptop ask me what is the device I am plugging (like other Inspiron laptops will do).
I checked and all my drivers are up-to-date. I have also ran the full diagnostic tool on Dell.com, nothing was found.
May I get suggestions regarding what to do next?
Thank you,
Herrina

Answer:Inspiron 13 7000 can't detect my headphone

Hello Herrina.
herrinakuangI checked and all my drivers are up-to-date.
> You could download and install a fresh copy of the Realtek audio driver. You can find that on your model's support page. I can provide a link to the page or the driver if you reply with the exact model model name of the laptop (all of the Inspiron 13 7000 models are named "Inspiron 73xx", where the xx numbers are the exact model.)
Here are other things you can try, either before or after the first suggestion.
> Make sure the plug is pushed firmly into the jack. On some of these new Inspirons, the jack socket is a little too tight.
> enable Waves MaxxAudio Service in the startup tab of Task Manager (in Windows 10), then restart the laptop. It is the Waves software that controls the popup.
> while in the startup tab, make sure that  Realtek (or Dell) Audio Manager is enabled. If it isn't, enable it and restart the laptop.

With what you stated you've tried, it could be an internal connection problem. Many Laptops have a small I/O board that is connected via a cable to the main board. If yours is this type, it may require "reseating" (unplug then plug back in) the connector.

Hello I recently got a Lenovo Yoga 211 Laptop/Tablet and am having problems with getting the laptop to detect the headphones/mic Once I plug the headphones (with built in mic) into the laptop, I can hear just fine. However, the mic fails to work. I was hoping to set the laptop to use the headphones for playback, and internal microphone for recording. However, I cannot find the headphones or the external microphone in the sound manager to do this. And once I plug in the headphones, the internal mic stops working entirely. I have a Thinkpad laptop that had this problem and I managed to use the Realtek Audio Manager to solve the problem. On the Thinkpad, I have it so that I can use the internal microphone even with the headphones plugged in. Is there a way to do that for the Yoga series? Any help would be appreciated! Thank you for your time!-Em

Inspiron 15 3000 audio jack cant detect headphone, but dell audio can detect something plugged in. However the playback device at Sound cannot detect any headphone. Now i only receive buzzing sound in headphone. How to fix this problem??

Answer:Inspiron 15 3000 audio jack cant detect headphone

Hello. To test the headphone jack switch between the Realtek audio driver and the Windows native audio driver.
1. Open the Device Manager (type devmgmt.msc in the Windows search box).2. Expand the "Sound, video & game controllers" and right click on "Realtek High Definition Audio".3. Select to "Update Driver Software".4. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software".5. Click "Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".6. Put a check in the box "Show compatible hardware" if not already checked.7. In the list of devices, click "High Definition Audio" (the native driver).8. Click "Next".9. On the Update Driver Warning box, click "Yes" (install the driver). 10. Restart the laptop if prompted. If not prompted, then no need to restart.[To get back to the Realtek driver,  do it again but reverse the names in steps 1 and 6.]
If there is still only buzzing even with the native driver, test using other headphones. If still no luck then probably hardware failure. Contact tech support for repair if under warranty.
If it works okay with the native driver then the Realtek driver is buggy. Try a different version of the driver. If you need help with that reply back with the full model name (something like "Inspiron 11 3147", etc) and which operating system it has.

I was wondering if you could give me some advice on a current computer issue.

So, I've got my TV hooked up to my PC as an extra monitor via HDMI. Up until last night I was able to get audio from my PC to be played/heard/whatever through the TV.

Earlier in the evening, I saw a bunch of Windows Updates needing to be installed, so I installed them. One update was for the Intel Graphics Card, wasn't able to be installed because of Windows Update Error 80070103 (which apparently appears when Windows tries to install something already installed). I didn't think much of it at the time and proceeded with the post-install restart (TV's HDMI audio was still working at this point).

Shortly after the restart (upon resuming watching the video from before), I noticed that the TV's HDMI audio was no longer playing. I checked the Audio Device manager to see if it somehow got deactivated and found that it was no longer listed as a possible playback device. I double-checked to make sure unactivated devices weren't being hidden from view (which they weren't).

I tried un-plugging the HDMI device, restarting, re-plugging - to no avail. I try replugging the HDMI cable into a different port on the back of the TV.

I then try to do a system restore to before the installed the updates but that didn't work (Windows said they it was unable to restore anything so no settings were changed).

I try to re-install the Intel Graphics update via Windows Update but I get that Erro... Read more

Answer:HDMI Audio Device No Longer Appears as Playback Device

If you have NVIDIA GE Force, that suggests it is the active video device, rather than the Intel. Check the Device Manager, Sounds section to see what is listed and if there are any error codes for the NVIDIA HDMI Audio.

Hi everyone, I got a hard question (well, at least I believe it is).

When I plug my usb headset into my computer it automatically becomes the default/standard device - which is fine. When I play music, play games all the sound comes out of my headset.
But lets say I want the music to be played out of my speakers instead of my headset, is that possible using WMP11? Any other software I can use to accomplish this?

Another situation would be a friend watching a movie on my TV through my computer while I am gaming at the same time on my computer monitor. I am forced to plug out my headset and mute my game so the people watching a movie on my tv don't hear the ingame sound.

Is there any way to force a program (or at least WMP11) to play out of a different audio device than the one which ISN'T the default/standard playback device?

I just asked all of my colleagues (we are computer technicians), no-one knew ^^

Answer:Solved: Playback Audio through different device than the Default Device - Possible?

Hah, finally found out all by my self ^^

Windows Media Player 11 -> Tools -> Options -> Devices -> Speakers -> "Select the audio device."

As simple as that, amazing I haven't noticed that before - I've looked through the settings of WMP11 tons of times to no avail.

Hi Guys,

I am trying to buy a new "sports headphone" to be used at the gym. Unfortunately, where I am, I only either have bluetooth 2.0 + NFC or Bluetooth 4.0 (only 1 or 2 options) without NFC.

I am really keen on NFC, as I have a S4 and really keen to try NFC, would really appreciate any feedback on this? Is BT2.0 with NFC a better option in terms of easy of use or a simple BT3.0 or BT4.0 without NFC be a safer bet?

I am not too sure how stable the NFC technology now is, so thats my only concern.

Would appreciate some feedback on this.

Thanks

Answer:NFC or bluetooth sports headphone?

Since NFC only works up to a few inches, it must be used just for the setup. The Bluetooth would then be used as the link between the headphones and phone.

Answer:Can't use bluetooth headphone with earpiece!!

I don't think there is because usually when you plug in a headset or turn on a bluetooth headset it disables the speakers, so I suspect that bluetooth essentially does the same to your wired headset - probably nothing that can be done about it unless you happen to find a setting in the realtek control panel that disables the 'feature'."I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..." I own a macbook pro and runs windows 7 by bootcamp. The headphone is JBL e40bt.
I tried to use my bluetooth headphone it had always failed and it said there was no driver for "bluetooth peripheral device."
I then downloaded the ASUS driver thing from here: Can't find drivers for bluetooth headset - Windows 7 Help Forums
And the problem was solved.

But now when I connect my headphone, it is only good immediately after I connect it. As long as I play something continuously the headphone won't switch off by itself and nothing's wrong. But if there's no audio input from the computer to the headphone for like a minute and then I start playing music, the audio is skipped. I have to reconnect the device for it to return normal.

Please help me. It is quite annoying. It's okay if I am playing games and stuff but I when I'm playing music I can't let it stop.

Hi, I am having problems getting a Bluetooth headset to operate. Having connected and paired (I believe), the device shows in Devices and Printers. In Device Manager, there are three listings for it (Aukey model EP-B4). Each listing says there are no drivers installed. Have tried updating each and all but after an age for Windows searching for drivers I had to use Ctrl-Alt-Del to close it.
I have contacted the manufacturer many times but so far no results - they repeatedly requested from where I bought it and item number.
I am using Win7 SP1 with all updates current.

The headset works well with my mobile phone and tablet (Android 5.1).

Any help much apprecitated.

In most cases (all I've seen) you can only have one default playback device, e.g. PC speaker (and wired headphones) or another device such as your bluetooth or HDMI audio.

My Lenovo laptop is P50 running Window 7 64-bit, when I tried to pair a bluetooth headphone with it, the headphone didn't show up in the laptop's bluetooth device list. Could you please help me out?Device Manager's Bluetooth Radios has Intel Wireless Bluetooth and Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator. The iHome headphone's Spec says:" The product is compatible with any bluetooth devices that supports A2DP, AVRCP, Hands-Free, or Handset Profiles"

I've recently bought a Bluetooth USB Dongle for my Dell Inspiron 1764 laptop so my wireless headphone could connect to it. The dongle connected and installed fine but when I pressed "Add a device", it saw it as a keyboard and when it tried to install the driver for it, it gave me a "No driver found" for Bluetooth Peripheral Device. It is a Ciberspeed Sports Bluetooth Headphone and it has worked for my iPod so I'm not sure if that's the issue. I appreciate any help.

Hi.I've been lurking for a bit and have had most of my questions answered and issues solved bythis fine community. Thank you!My problem is that I can add my bt headphones (I've tried two different sets) in the "add device"option, but once I shut the bt device (headphones in my case) off and then turn them back onagain the sound continues to come from the tablet or stereo speakers (which ever I'm using atthe time) and the sound won't switch to the bt headphones automatically. I must manually go theSound settings in Control Panel options and select the bt headphone to use them again. As ofright now I've got a shortcut to the Sound options on my desktop. Now this isn't a deal breaker forme, but there's got to be an easier way! LOLS!Any suggestions? Thanks! And for the record I have no wifi issues and I've upgraded to 8 gigs of ram so I'm keeping this!!!

I haven't tried using a Bluetooth headset with Windows, but check: 1.  Right-click on the sound tray icon, select Playback devices.  Does it show a 2nd bluetooth headset device in addition to Speakers?  If so, left-click on it and try the "Set Default" dropown menu on the bottom to make it the Default device (or some other option that works better). 2.  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933144 3.  http://www.computing.net/answers/hardware/making-bluetooth-headset-default-audio-device/87178.html

Hello everyone, I just bought a dell alienware m14x, I love it so far.

I pay the 20$ extra to have the Bluetooth option and I successfully pair my blackberry but when I am trying to pair my Bluetooth jay bird SB2 headphone with my computer, it doesnt work?

the computer find my device, and when I go to device and printer I see it there, but there is not option to ?use? or activate I also check in the sound option where you can choose the output(manage audio devices), but only the computer speakers are there.

I tried to download the driver installer wizard from Broadcom corp but it doesn?t find my headphone?

I am puzzled!!

Anyone had a problem like that?

Francois

I didn't know where to put this, or what kind of problem this is.
I have a pair of Bluetooth headphones and an ASUS bluetooth USB adapter.
When I turn on the Bluetooth headset, I have to manually go into the Sound settings and change the "Default" to the Asus Adapter.
Though ZId love to know if there is a fix to this, it's easy enough to live with. The thing I cant stand though, is when I do switch any default device in the Sound settings, I also have to close all programs that were open when making the switch. Otherwise, the programs (like iTunes and Media Player Classic) will contiue coming out of the computer speakers, or whatever the previous default was. Ive only had the ASUS Bluetooth adapter, and havent been able to try another adapter, but I have used different bluetooth Headsets/Headphones, and they all react the same. The program also exhibited on Windows 7, so I doubt its OS specific.
Is there any way to fix this, because this is absolutely annoying.

Answer:Problem: Have to restart programs when connecting bluetooth Headphone.

Did you ever find an answer? I just found this post and I'm having the exact issue. And agreed; very annoying.

Edit: Just found this page on reddit. It works! Swich the audio playback in iTunes to Direct Sound rather than Windows Audio.
