Yoga 900-13ISK Laptop Linux Only Bios

Question: Yoga 900-13ISK Laptop Linux Only Bios

Hi, I was looking for the new BIOS that would allow me to install Linux on my Yoga. Unfortunately, I found one for the 13ISK2 and the 13ISK for BIZ. None for vanilla 13ISK. Am I not looking hard enough? https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-900-and-Ideapad-710S-Linux-Only-BIOS/...

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Good evening, this week I bought a Laptop Lenovo Yoga 900-13 isk for biz. I tried to install Linuxmint from a USB flash drive, but Linuxmint does not detect my hard drive Raid. I found information on other websites that had to update my Bios with a special version "Linux". I downloaded this Bios on the Lenovo site, but the exe does not want to start because my original Bios is more recent. Thank you for your help. I purchased my Yoga 900 a month or so ago and it's been great.  All of the sudden this morning it wouldn't boot.  There are no visible lights on the machine, the power button doesn't react or glow.   I've tried fiddling with the AC adapter, making sure all cables are tight and that the outlet is function.  I've tried powering it on with and without the AC attached.  I've tried holding down the power button for 30 seconds.  I've tried to press that little reset button with a toothpick. No response. Any ideas?

hello everyone, I am hoping someone can help me with my laptop situation. Its a Lenovo Yoga 900-13ISK Laptop (ideapad), I have had it for 3 months. I shut it down Saturday and then minutes after the display had gone off I noticed the power button light was still on. I tried to restart it and no response. pressed for long trying to shut it off (this works on my Lenovo thinkpad from work) and still no response. Its now been almost 48 hours the power button light is still on and machine wont start. The machine has not been connected to charger since saturday shutdown. Since the battery is encased in the laptop I cannot open it without voiding the warranty. I bought the machine in US and because of work I am now in Europe cannot take it back to Lenovo US. Anyone have a solution for me?

I purchased my Yoga towards the end of January 2016. I love it, but I have a heck of a time with my WiFi. I'm connected to my WiFi but I deal with a lot of lagging, disconnect and it's always running the thinking circle at the pointer tip. I also deal with issues when typing in a browser, or online chat. My keyboard doesn't respond always. Please Help!!! Thank You In Advance

Answer:Yoga 900-13ISK Laptop (ideapad) WiFi Connection/Staying connected issues

 Hi Chad76 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

With the connectivity issue , I would suggest to turn off / uncheck power saving from the property box of the device network adapter as shown on this link.
Transmit power to highest if available , Roaming aggressiveness / tendency highest  then restart .
Observe the changes on your connection.

Likewise to limit start up items that may be running from the background that may pick off some of the bandwidth, you may set the pc on clean boot as shown here.

Update us how it goes.

Hello! I have a Yoga S1 12,5" ThinkPad wich had a damaged Mainboard, so i got a replacement and also changed the touchpad because it was also broken. Hi, I need virtualization to use Android Emulators on my Yoga 900. However, when I want to instal the Intel HAXM technology I received a message saying VT-X is not turned on. I did a full shutdown (powershell->stop-computer or shutdown /s / f /t 00 ) and changed to enable the option VT technology in the BIOS. However I still receive this error, also I checked the Windows Features to see if the Hyper-V was installed. Any help will be really appreciated, Thanks

What are the differences, if any? Also, is there a Lenovo application that detects the installed drivers and prompts me to download newer versions if available? I can't seem to find anything similar to the Lenovo Updater that I had on my Y-50. Thanks

Answer:Difference between Yoga 900-13ISK and Yoga 900-13I...

Good day.

The major differences I see, looking at: http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/Lenovo_Yoga_900_13_inch are: the SK2 has Intel Iris HD 540 graphics, slightly different CPUs and PCIe SSDs.

Regarding driver updates, there's a feature in Lenovo Companion that assists with that.

Hope this helps clarify.

My Yoga 900 has lost an end cap from  the hinge.  Is there a way to get replacement cap?

Answer:yoga 900 13isk hinge

Hi ptbeatty,

Greetings.

Checking on the FRU/parts list (page53) from the hardware manual, the hinge cap cannot be ordered separately as it is part of the entire LCD assembly.

You may check with technical support if they would be able to service it as usuallly functional issues are the ones covered by the warranty similar to this discussion.

Hope this help answer your query.

Hi, I bought new Yoga 900-13ISK (ornage) 3 months ago. I've just realized that sometimes it is not quite stable on a flat table (it swings a little bit). What is more worrying - I am able to straighten it just by stressing all laptop corners with my hands. After some time the problem occurs again. This mean that some part of the laptop (aluminium bottom casing, frame or sth that is reponsible for making the computer a stiff is not working ok... Or maybe it is a feature?  Anyone noticed sth similar?  Jacob

Hello, I bought my Yoga 900 around september-october last year and it was working great for me without any problems.  However, I came home from work the other day and it would not turn on. I plugged in the AC adapter to charge it and still there was no response. The battery indicator light is not showing any signs of life either. There has been no damage to it, and I had been using it the night before to watch a movie with no problems.  My issue is that I bought it in Canada but I am now living in China, and I'm not sure which steps should be taken to resolve this issue. Im not sure if there is email support or a phone number I can contact, but scouring through the various support pages has been useless. Anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated

My company is offering a BYOD solution involving a Windows-to-Go USB.  I purchased the Yoga 900 13isk (80MK) to use with this solultion.  The Windows-to-Go solution boots successfully on the USB but I cannot find drivers to support the hardware.  Windows-to-Go is currently based on Windows 8.1.  Request assistance locating drivers or work arounds.  Please contact me if additional information is needed.  I will work with my IT department but since this is intended to be a BYOD solution I'm researching as a Lenovo customer also since I purchased this laptop for this purpose.

Hi  MJBUCk

it looks that's the problem, as the Yoga 900 comes with Windows 10 from factory has no drivers for Windows 8.1 platforms.

If you goes to the support site, only you will find drivers for windos 10 (32-64 bit)

Hi,  I am about to purchase a Lenovo Yoga 900 13ISK. I am wondering whether it is possible to connect a 2K or 4K Monitor to the device through its USB-C port and run it at 60Hz or above? Furthermore, I would like to know whether the USB-C port is USB standard 3.0 (gen1) or 3.1 (gen2) and whether the device can be charged through this port if I buy a USB-C charger? Lastly, I am wondering whether it is possible to connect a USB or USB-C docking station with monitor, speakers, mouse, keyboard, printer and network with the Yoga 900? I am looking forward to your response! Best regards

I love my new Yoga 900 but I'm struggling with one issue that's driving me a bit bonkers. I use the Yoga as my home computer that needs to be connected to both an external display as well as a gigabit ethernet.  I purchased the Dell D1000 usb3 port replicator that has display ports, usb ports as well as a gigbit ethernet.  The displays work fine, and the ethernet and usb work fine whe the Yoga is awake, but my problem is waking the Yoga from sleep.  If my mouse is plugged into the Dell D1000 usb port, it will NOT wake the Yoga from sleep (neither will a usb keyboard or the wake-on-lan feature of the ethernet).  If I unplug the usb receiver for the mouse and plug it directly into the Yoga, it does awaken the PC from sleep. Problem: I really need the Wake-On-Lan feature and my understanding is that the Wireless LAN will not work for wake-on-lan.  is there any way to make the wake-on-lan (or any other wake feature) work through a usb adapter? I've made wake-on-lan work for every PC I've owned in the past several years, so I think I know how it works, but i can't seem to make it function for the Yoga, no matter what.  There is NO bios setting for wake-on-lan (or wake on anything) that I can find. Anybody made wake from usb port replicator work on a Yoga 900?  If so, please share what replicators/devices you used and how they were configured. Thanks ... Ed

Hi team, I bought a lenovo yoga 900-13isk with Windows 10. For some reason, I installed the Windows 8.1 and now I have a lot of issues with drivers. Hi.    I have a display issue that someone else has had and, unfortunately, the problem was so severe that the fix was that her computer was replaced by Lenovo via Best Buy.  I assume her warranty took care of it.  I'm hoping for a less expensive solution as I bought mine 13 months ago and the warranty expired last month.    "When I turn on my Yoga 900, I see the "LENOVO" flash on the screen, then fade and I am left with either a gray or black screen.  Totally blank.  I tried the "turn off, press and hold f8 while you power on" suggestion I found online, but really no change though once and only once there was a brief flash of something, gone in a flash and back to blank screen.   Really totally helpless with just a blank screen!" - I have the same issue.   I also bought the laptop at Best Buy and sent it out to the Geek Squad.  They said that the 256GB Solid State Drive (5SD0H00092) needed to be replaced and they wanted to charge $582 for parts ($431) and labor ($151).  I declined the service so, basically, I paid a $35 (and a week's time) for a consultation in the form of the deposit.   The entire reason I paid extra and bought a top of the line laptop with an SSD is because I wanted it to last.  It dosen't seem right to pay 50% of the orginal cost to get it fixed.  When I bought it last year, I could have spent half... Hi guys, I purchased a Lenovo Yoga 900 last week from an online seller here in Germany. When it arrived, I did a full system check to make sure everything is working on this close to ? 1400 machine. It turns out everything except the internal microphone is working fine. Specifically, I cannot use the microphone whatsoever. I just hear a loud, static noise when I listen to the mic through the speakers. When I say something, I don't hear anything I say though, only the static.  So I tried updating all my drivers and playing around with the properties of my microphone like changing levels up to all the way down and disabling/enabling various sound effects. All this didn't resolve my issue. So I tried more invasive stuff like updating my BIOS and, as a last resort, reset Windows 10. To all avail, this also didn't resolve my issue. So I am out of answers now and suspecting that my built-in microphone has been poorly shielded or has some broken wire somewhere.  What do you guys think? I can't find anything about microphone issues on the Yoga 900 and wanted to make sure that it's in fact a hardware fault.

Hi All,  I bought a Yoga 900-13ISK and after 6 months, with no reason at all, it crashed. The only thing I get is the Lenovo sign when I turn it on. I then get a blue pop up screen (After 10 minutes aproximately) stating "Default Boot Device Missing or Boot Failed. Insert Recovery Media and Hit any Key. Then select 'Boot Manager' to choose a new Boot Device or to Boot Recovery Media. If I reboot it to get the BIOS Menu, it does not do anything until 30 minutes later, that the BIOS screen starts up (I can see the Hard Disk detected (Liteon CV1-8B256 SSD). I tried booting it with a USB containing hiren software with XP and errors still appear. Any idea? I haven't installed anything weird lately. It started happening from one day to the other. Any clues? ThanksErnesto

I have been having issues with the touchpad for over a year on my Lenovo Yoga 900. I used to be able to fix it by uninstalling/ reinstalling the drivers but this no longer works reliable. If I didn't have a touch screen I wouldn't be able to use the computer at all. I also have to carry a mouse with me every where I go for when the touch pad fails. I have tried every fix that I have read in the forums. It has stopped working right in the middle of me using the computer and not just after start up. BIOS: Up to dateSynpatics Drivers: Up to dateF6 function doesn't even work when the touchpad is working so that's not the problem. Error: I2C HID Device - error 10 This device cannot start on Intel Serial IO I2C Host Controller - 9D61When I go to the driver details it says it's from 2006 even though I have the synpatics one installed. I have tried getting it to update to the synaptics driver but it won't and windows update doesn't work either. Other observations: The touchpad completely disappears in the system settings as I only see options for a mouse and no touchpad. The synpaptics icon in the taskbar also disappears when the touchpad stops working. I don't know what else to do but I use my laptop for both of my jobs and having to rely on a mouse at times is super inconvenient especially I am working mobile without a desk. Please help!

Several times my brand new Yoga 900 shut off unexpectedly, visually looked like a kill-switch off, not a Windows shutdown or something. Different battery charge level: 30%, 55%, 75%, 95%--didn't matter; even on AC once. I had to turn it on and continue work. It irritated a log. But the last time it just didn't turn on. When I press Power button, the keyboard lits, the fan goes crazy, the screen stays black, and in five seconds it turns off. The same with NOVO button, but some times no fan going crazy, and no shutdown in five seconds, just nothing happening: the power button glows, the screen is black, no reaction on keyboard or screen touches--have to power it off in some time. I saw similar problems with Yoga 500 or 700, some say disconnecting the battery helps. I don't know about 500 or 700, but in 900 the battery is not detachable, and I assume taking the cover off to reach the battery would clear away the warranty, so that is not the solution in my case. Unfortunately, I am away from the States now, where I had a purchase, so sending it back not an option at the moment. Could anyone advise, please? Thanks!

I recently upgraded my Lenovo Yoga 13 (which I loved) to a Lenovo 900 13ISK. I had absolutely no issue with the touchpad on the Yoga 13, but the Synapics touchpad is driving me mad. As I swipe the mouse across the screen, lift my finger to swipe a again it frequently registers the next contact with the touchpad as a click and if this corresponds to something clickable it will switch context. There appears to no configuration option to change this undesirable behaviour. Is this a hardware problem? Do others experience this problem? Disabling the the "Tap to Click" option is NOT a valid solution. Any feedback greatly appreciated. My OS is Windows 10 Home Insider Preview 14352, Synaptics Pointing Device 19.0.17.57

Hi, I have purchased a Yoga 900-13ISK on the US (with US keyboard layout), but I would like to know if it is possible to replace the keyboard with a Brazillian keyboard type. I looked over the internet and I did found a compatible PT-BR keyboard for this notebook (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/NEW-BR-for-Lenovo-ThinkPad-Yoga-4-PRO-Yoga-900-backlit-Brazil-Laptop...), but the Upper Case will not fit into it because the frames are from the US layout. Just bought this unit as an open box from Best Buy yesterday. I notied this error in the event log: The speed of processor 3 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 71 seconds since the last report. I thought it might be because I was running on Battery, so, when I got home, I plugged in and rebooted.  I got the same error message. I called support.  They ran their hardware test in the Solution Center, and that reports everything is fine.  So, they would not help with this beyond that.  (First experience with Lenovo support not the greatest). Can anyone tell me if this is a problem and can be solved? Here is the full event dump: Log Name: SystemSource: Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Processor-PowerDate: 7/14/2016 12:22:10 PMEvent ID: 37Task Category: (7)Level: WarningKeywords:User: SYSTEMComputer: DESKTOP-706LTTNDescription:The speed of processor 3 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. I'm usually a pretty careful person but in my one rare clumsy moment, I managed to drop my Yoga 900 on the floor from maybe a height of less than a metre.  The screen is cracked starting from the top right hand corner and has a hairline fracture all the way to the bottom left corner. It still works, as in I can still see things on the screen, but I keep getting jumpy cursors and whatnot (expected of a cracked touch-enabled screen). So my question is: What am I suppose to do? I've called Lenovo Support and I've chatted with an Encompass technician, and although they were very nice, it didn't help because there doesn't seem to be a replacement screen available for purchase/repairs. I've only had this laptop for 5 months and it seems ludicrous to buy a new one already...... Edit: This is for the Yoga 900-13ISK.

Where do I get the download for Non-Trial Photo Master? Please do not bother telling me how to download PM3330.exe because it throws the error, "Must have a non-trial version of Lenovo Photo Master installed." The right version is probably on the recovery partition, but (see my other post) I cannot get the OneKey recovery to work. So is there a non-trial version available?  This is Lenovo Case number 8006794272.Thank you,

I can't apply Microsoft updates to address the Meltdown/Spectre vulnerabilities until there is an update to the BIOS software from Lenovo. I have reviewed the support page that lists models targeted for updates, and I don't see mine listed: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/len-18282 This is my main personal laptop, which I use for a lot of important tasks. If I can't apply this critical security update then it's worthless to me. This is not a very old machine, I would expect there to be some acknowledgement of it on that support page, but as far as I can see only newer Yoga models are being targeted for firmware patches. Please advise whether Lenovo intends to address this issue on this model.

First, thanks for taking a second to read this. I just purchased this after using my Viao for 4.5 years. So, I am like a kid in a candy shop whose mother never let him have sugar before  Just bought this 2 days ago: Problem - Mouse pointer gets "stuck" and doesn't move sometimes. Is this common, is there a fix? I transport this between home and office. So: Question 1:Can I plug two monitors in some how so I can have 3 screens. I am not concerned about HD. Mostly spreadsheets and interfaces using remote apps and such for work. If so what device (make and model) should I get? Is it like a USB hub (which I will need to get to have multiple USB ports... Question 2:For home use I would like to get a real high quality monitor to use as a second (main). How big can the graphics handle. Any recommendations in the 22-27 inch size, or bigger if it can handle it. Thanks again,Chris

Hello, I forgot my HD encryption password. Yes. You've read it wright. *shame* After about 500 attempts of different password permutations, I give up. I want to completely reset the computer, however, to access BIOS by pressing the NOVO button doesn't seem to work. I also tried other things, like attaching a USB keyboard and using other keys at boot process but no luck.  I keep being stuck at the enter HD password dialogue. Are there any suggestions how to access the BIOS and reset the HD password so I can start over? Can i remove the battery myself to reset BIOS ? Are there any possibility to re-obtain the original Windows 10 key that was on the system without having to purchase a new one. Thanks,

In order to access the BIOS with the Novo button, the laptop must be shut down completely.

My Lenovo YOGA 900-13ISK is a fairly new  (bought and registered Feb. 2016) laptop. Used very little, but plugged in all the time to the power source. I just finished the most recent Windows 10 Update around 7:00 pm EST on May 11, 2016. After it rebooted, I noticed the BATTERY indicator icon showing 95% in the GREEN icon. The black and white smaller battery icon shows 95% Available (Plugged in, not charging)! Both have been stuck in this position for over two hours. I just had not noticed this before, so not sure when this issue started. I can use some help in how to resolve this problem. Thank you very much.

Have any of You Dear Yoga 900 users suceeded charging iPhone 7 from Yoga 900-13ISK  powered USB (the one with little battery symbol) while laptop is off and unplugged from the wall? My laptop is not able to do this, but it charges other devices like Griffin BT headset adapter, Anker Soundcore etc. When laptop is on, USB port works well. I'm able to charge my iPhone 7 form my wife's Yoga 500-14IBD, which  is equipped with exactly the same powered (always-on) USB 3.0. The only idea I have, is that this strange behaviour is somehow connected with BIOS. I updated my BIOS in November, 2016 to ver. C6CN39WW (Insyde H.20). That version of BIOS has no toggle to enable or disable USB always-on (my wife's Yoga 500 have it).  I would be grateful if anyone could share their experience about this issue. I need to be sure if it is a software/BIOS/hardware thing, cause my laptop is under warranty. Official support told my that USB 3.0 is not able to charge iPhone 7 at all since it needs 1A and USB 3.0 is 0,9A only, but this is obviously a rubbish since I wouldn't be able to charge it from my wife's Yoga. Thanks KubaM

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 900-13ISK - is there any way to use a combination lock with this Notebook?

Welcome to the forums!

Unfortunately, it looks like most of the ultrabooks don't support the Kensington locks. Due to the thin design, there is not really anything on the inside you could anchor to. Most of the units with Kensington Lock options have a metal chassis inside to prevent you from ripping the laptop out.

Larger units, such as the Y700 and the Thinkpad W and T lines (these are all I have in front of me) have the Kensington slot available if security is a high priority.

For what it's worth, the Yoga 900 is thin enough that I never thought of leaving it in one place... I just take it with me. It's lighter than a book.

I am having non-stop problems with the Sklyake/520 HD Graphics on my Yoga 900. The original drivers that came with the laptop (available on the Lenovo support site) work without graphics corruption, but have the black screen with the "Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered" multiple times a day. Some days, it would only be once or twice, and other days it was The problem is well-defined here, but does not talk about a final solution from Lenovo:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/Yoga-900-display-driver-glitch/td-p/220415... What the individuals have done here is install Windows or Intel drivers (even beta sometimes) to fix the issue. For me, the black screen error is gone, but has been replaced with graphics corruption. With the Intel December 2015 drivers, I was getting graphical glitches mostly over Remote Desktop sessions... which I use heavily. I have since installed the 20.19.15.4380 from the Intel site, and the RDP sessions are better, but now I am getting glitches in web browsers. To be honest, I'm furious. I'm now outside of the return window, because I was convinced that this was strictly a driver issue. Now, I'm not so sure. As the corruption looks nearly exactly like the 2D problems you have when overclocking a standard video card's memory, I'm wondering if the actual silicone in the Skylake CPUs have a design flaw, and drivers will only solve the issue by underclocking the GPU/cache portion of the graphic... Answer:Lenovo Yoga 900-13ISK - Skylake/520 HD Graphics Corruption

I have been using the 900 without issues for over 2 months now. The drivers I have are from Lenovo's website.

Have you tried updating the chipset?
How about other drivers?

To completely identify whether this is a software or a hardware issue, do you mind resetting the laptop to factory condition? You may want to take back up of personal files on an external drive before attempting this.
After the reset, do not update any drivers and continue working. Don't install softwares either.

If no issue happens, then install softwares or drivers that you need one by one.
Please post back if you need any details. Thank you.

I'm running ArcGIS and all of the menus and icons are incredibly tiny.  I've tried tweaking the resolution and magnification and there are no consistent improvements.  Every once in awhile some of the menus and icons will resize to something that I can actually see, while others remain tiny.  This is very frustrating as I rely on ArcGIS for my research.  I'd really like to keep this laptop because I like its size and portability, but if this issue can't be resolved then I'll be forced to return it.  Has anyone else had an issue like this and, if so, what did you do to resolve it? Also, I've experienced graphic issues where it said that the driver crashed and Adobe Lightroom is also not displaying my photos in edit mode.  So far I'm very frustrated with this laptop from a technical standpoint.

Answer:Yoga 900 13ISK - Super tiny menus and icons in som...

Perhaps you should consider returning the Yoga 900 for an older laptop that has a lower resolution, because the issues you mention are consistent with two things:

1) the Intel graphics driver for the new generation of Intel's "Skylake" CPUs and on-board graphics is still a work in progress. You are likely to see the error message "the display driver has quit working but has recovered" quite frequently on the Yoga 900 and laptops from other manufacturers using "Skylake". Newer versions of the driver from Intel improve things, but I don't think that we are quite out of the woods yet.

2) the QHD+ resolution of the Yoga 900 screen (3200x1800) is likely to give some older generation desktop software some issues, if the software has not been updated to use the scaling system built into newer generations of Windows. Teeny-tiny menus and icons are the result. Unless ArcGIS are planning to update their software to the modern age soon, you might be less frustrated by running it on a laptop that has a lower screen resolution.

Hello, This is my first time posting, so please bear with me. A few days ago, the touch screen completely stopped working. I am also unable to rotate the screen. Navigating to the Device Manager, I see three I2C HID Device drivers, but one of them has a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it. When I click on it, I see the error: "This device cannot start. (Code 10) A request for the HID descriptor failed." Disabling it does nothing, neither does uninstalling it - when they are reenabled or reinstalled, the error persists. There are no drivers that can be updated, and there is no way to roll back to a previous driver as I never updated these due to there being no problems. I assume this is a hardware issue, but I am not sure how to verify this or if there is anything else that can be done.  I have had quite a few problems with this machine, sending it out twice for the same problem and having the same problem occur for the third time (the power button does not work), but I am hoping this is something that is fixable.  Thanks!

While doing some minor unrelated repair on my Yoga 900 I noticed a few extra ports on the motherboard. Maybe some people working at Lenovo can shed some light on this? I'd really prefer to have some information before I start poking around with a multimeter or something. Ever since I updated windows 10 to creator's update I've had freezing problems with my notebook.  It occurs anytime I do ANYTHING connected with my web camera, display and audio settings.  It's not random - I can recreate the freeze.  I've updated my bios to the latest version, and every device driver from the Lenovo web site for my product, and every necessary driver from Intel and windows 10 update.  I also used Lenovo one step recovery to go back to the original factory settings and began applying all of the windows 10 updates since 11/2015.  I got as far as version 1079, and began having some windows update issues and that process was consuming too much of my time.  So,  I decided to restore everything back to where I was before one step recovery - meaning I can still 'make' my notebook freeze on demand if I try to change the dispay settings, adjust the volume or try to use the webcam.  Anybody have any similar problems and resolve them?

After spending another harrowing half hour trying to get my computer to boot, I have to ask: is there a way to turn off the battery unseat via power button thing? In case my description of the issue is unclear (it may be), here's the situation: I actually carry my laptop places.  I know, portable computer being ported around, weird right?  Well, since lonovo decided we can't access our battery, they gave us a way to 'unseat' or 'disconnect' it, holding the power button down for 20 s or so.  Of course, this causes a lot of people to do this on accident and think their machne is broken.  Of course, allowing us to actually remove the battery would be a better  option, but we're sorta past that now. Anyhow, the issue I have is sometimes the battery unseat command is sent as a result of me walking places with the computer in my backpack.  As in, I get places, and the computer will not boot... and sometimes even the standard 'press for 20, plug in, boot' process fails.  Anyhow, just spent the last half hour trying to boot this thing... it finally worked, BUT I would love to know... is there a way to disable this 'feature'?  As in, is there a way to prevent the computer from disconnecting the battery via a power button press and hold sequence?  If so, please let me know, it would save me a lot of trouble.

I've had a Yoga 900 13ISK (model 80MK - the Best Buy Blue Label edition - bought open box) for almost a month now, and I'm having constant issues with the display driver, or perhaps it's just the display itself.  I've done a pretty thorough search, and unless I'm not searching the right terms for what is happening to my Yoga, I am apparently the only person this is happening to, thus, I'm starting to wonder if I have a bad panel rather than an Intel display driver issue.  Has anyone else run into this? The basic issue is this - The system will automatically update the graphics driver to the latest version despite having the update checked off to ignore. When that happens, all of my screen colors (yes, the built-in display, not an external monitor) flip. Red becomes blue, blue becomes orange, green becomes light blue, etc. When I call Lenovo support (and I did purchase an extended warranty through Lenovo), they remote into my machine, and the screen colors look fine to them, but obviously look quite different to me. I ended up having to send them a screenshot of the issue, and was then told "we may be aware of a graphics issue with the current drivers, please uninstall them and use generic display drivers," and that they are working on new ones for the 900. I have a fairly decent knowledge base in troubleshooting and having lived through the 3Dfx era of video cards, I'm fully capable of doing the driver tango and fixing most problems, but this one is throwi... Hi I would treat the BIOS as corrupt and follow the procedure to create a flash usb thumb drive to do it. So you probably already have the exe file  ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71001-71500/71173.exe Now if you try and run it in WINE do you make any progress?  It takes thru to a box to create a flash drive for installing on another device, and you do this. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01443485 is a place to start. Alternatively I would try a cheat and download and make a Windows 10 install DVD, and not install but go to the repair section and get into a command prompt and try and run the .exe from there to create a flash drive or hopefully let W10 install the bios. If in doubt please ask.

Bought a 910 off ebay last week and I desperately need to disable the Fn key. I found various posts that I should disable it in the BIOS (Current version 2JCN32WW), which I don't have the option to do so in the BIOS.   So maybe I need to update my BIOS to the latest 2JCN39WW? Upon trying to do that I get an error "Mount the EFI System Partition Failed".  Any information on how to fix this?  Thanks in advance =)

Answer:Can't upgrade BIOS on 910-13ISK (EFI error) and Fn Key Sucks (can't disable)

Try this: STEP 1:LOOK FOR LENOVO SETTINGS IN YOUR LAPTOP STEP 2:ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE SCREEN (SEE PICTURE)SELECT INPUT STEP 3:YOU WILL THEN SEE THE FUNCTION KEYSWHERE THERE ARE TWO OPTIONS1. HOT-KEYS2. (F1-F12)SELECT (F1 - F12)LENOVO SETTINGS

Hi, after using Google and searching through forums I'm still stuck with the following problem. For a installation at the Deutsches Museum in Munich I need the Yoga to boot itself at a defined date/time. Shutting down is not the problem, but automatic boot is. Normally there are two ways how to do this- Wake on LAN- Wake on RTC- Wake on Power (if a PC gets connected to a power source it will start automatically) I'm missing those options in the BIOS settings. But maybe I've overread something. Maybe I have to look somewhere else. The only source I found (not yet tested) was https://tinkertry.com/wol-over-usb3 where I have to built my own solution. Anyway, is there any chance to boot the the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro or Yoga 3 Pro at a specific date/time? Best wishes

Answer:Yoga 2 Pro/Yoga 3 Pro - Missing BIOS function to automatically boot the Yoga at specific time

I have been spending hours to find a way to apply WOL to a yoga 3 pro. I could not believe that it is simply not there. Is that to protect the user or a mistake? Is there an update I missed somewhere, or is a correction  being prepared? Thanks

Hi everyone,
I got a reconditioned lenovo laptop yoga 2 which has been great until the hard drive failed at which point I found out it had a bios password. I cannot get into it. I heard the hard drive clicking and then connected it up to another laptop to confirm it was at fault
so I installed windows 8 on the new hard drive and had hope it would just boot but it doesnt.
anyway around this? I have just spent £70 on the hard drive and do not want to spend 100's on a new motherboard
thanks

I tried this BIOS and it bricked my computer. I have tried  everything, pressing the power button for 45 seconds and then pressing it again to power on the pc, removing the battery and I also tried the novo button but nothing works. The only thing that happens when I power on the pc is that the backlight on the keyboard lights up for two seconds and then nothing. The power led stays on and so does the charging led when the charger is connected. I called Lenovo support and they told me to send them the computer for repair. It's only a month old. It's the 16Gb, 1 Tb glass lid model. This happened yesterday, 2017/03/24 The morning after this happened, 2017/03/25, I now have control over the keyboard backlight and if I put in a usb stick the little led on the usb stick flashes, I'm hopeful that it might indicate that the motherboard is not tried. Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated.

I am wondering what the best choice is to squeeze the best performace out of this NVMe SSD. Some say chance the bios setting to ACHI and some say use Intel RST Premium.  I read this post from reddit:The issue is that Lenovo was making use of a disgustingly ugly hack to make it appear that a NVMe device was attached through an ACHI controller. Intel apparently added this functionality to recent chipsets as a shortcut to adding NVMe support to their fake RAID system. This feature is mostly undocumented and completely unwanted by anyone running Linux or using OS-provided software RAID under Windows instead of Intel's software RAID. So far, Intel has not convinced the relevant Linux kernel developers to add the necessary hacks to the Linux NVMe and AHCI drivers. In any normal situation, a motherboard firmware setting for AHCI vs RAID vs IDE modes has nothing to do with PCIe SSDs, because they do not connect through SATA ports. There are no PCIe SSDs on the market that the user can toggle between NVMe and AHCI, though there are still some AHCI PCIe SSDs that are based on the same hardware as their NVMe equivalents and are simply configured in the factory (permanently) as AHCI devices instead of NVMe. If a machine purports to offer a firmware option to change between AHCI and NVMe modes, it is lying to you about what that option means. If the choice is between AHCI and RAID modes but it affects PCIe SSDs, then selecting ACHI mode probably means the system will operate in a... Read more

I just purchased a Yoga 920 and I'm having trouble installing a linux distro (Ubuntu). Before buying, I looked briefly and saw Lenovo's past issues with linux, but it appeared solved (BIOS updates for 910 can be found here) and I didn't think it would remain an issue once Lenovo realized people wanted linux.  But, I'm seeing a lot of complaints about the 920 regarding linux and I can't find any answers . . Can the 920 run linux out of the box?  If not, what do I need to do to get it running? (Since my 920 doesn't have a dvd, it needs to boot linux off of a USB to install.)Thanks!
