Preferred Solution: Thinkpad Yoga X1 - phantom Windows key press

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a Thinkpad Yoga X1, windows 10, all updates installed. It fires random window key presses while using the computer, very regularly. This causes severe interruption to the use of the laptop. I don't see any phantom touches on the screen, but it does have a tough windows key outside the screen area, and I'm wondering if that does the phantom touches. Any ideas? What should I try?

I just bought a ThinkPad Yoga and it seems like Lenovo, in their infinite wisdom, took out "press-to-select" (the ability to push in on the TrackPoint to do a left-click). Here is what Control Panel --> Mouse shows me. Why is there no longer an "UltraNav" tab with a settings button that lets me enable press-to-select? This should be standard functionality. It was on my old T420, it's on the X1 Carbon, and so it should be on my ThinkPad Yoga. This is a high-end machine. I bought it specifically FOR the TrackPoint, and they shouldn't be gimping the TrackPoint like this.

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga doesn't support press-to-select?

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Please check what you find under ?Mice and other pointing devices? in control panel -> device manager.

Probably, you haven?t installed the Synaptics ultranav driver in your system. Go to Lenovo Support page, enter MTM number in quick patth and find the synaptics driver under mouse and keyboard category. I tried to deactivate the long-press feature on my Thinkpad Yoga 370 for the pen.It just didn't work (Even when I manually changed the setting in the registry.)After some time of trying different stuff I finally figured out that I can deactivate the right-click on long press in the "Pen and Touch" settings found in the Control Panel. However:Only the settings in the "Touch" Tab actually get applied; for both pen and touch! The settings on the "Pen Options" Tab don't have any effect on anyting. I would like to configure my system to allow long-press for right click for touch input but not for the pen input. Is there a way to do this (maybe through manual registry configuration)or is this a driver bug?(Should it be the latter; would you mind fixing it @lenovo?)

I too have been having this problem. I bought my yoga 2 13" laptop about 2 months ago and the phantom touches started about a month later. At first I thought maybe the screen was picking up the fingerprints left on my screen or that there was a lag in response when i would touch the screen and nothing would happen but after reading other posts I can see this is a much bigger problem. When it starts I can'tget control of anything and have to wait for it to eventually stop and then restart my computer.  I found that this makes things subside for a while but then it starts all over again with no rhyme or reason. The most annoying part is that it closes my open tabs on the browser and sometimes opens others that are saved on my favorite bar. I'm worried that one day I'll be in the process of writing a paper for school and it deletes it before I get control of the screen.  Had I known this was such a common issue I would have never bought this laptop. Here I thought I was making my life a little easier being able to bring in my laptop to class and take up as little space as possible but looks like I will not have the option of using the touch screen if this is not easily resolved.

Answer:Yoga 2 13 Phantom touches on touchscreen

I have a similar problem with my Yoga 3 14 (I7). It works from a fresh boot, but if it goes to sleep, or sometimes sits for a while even w/o the screen blanking, the touch scrren doesn't respond to touches, but does have 'phantom' touches. Turning off and back on fixes. I got the laptop about a month ago. This seems to be a driver issue to me.

At my desk, I drive a large monitor with my Yoga Pro 2.  The screen is closed.  Sometimes the screen will start going crazy, applications moving and closing, because it is getting input from the touchpad despite the lid being closed.  I can slightly open the lid to stop it, but sometimes it happens when I'm not around and causes trouble.   I purchased it Jan 2014 and it has all the latest drivers and BIOS.  Shouldn't the screen input be turned off when the lid is closed?  Is there a setting I can change?

Hi, My Yoga 700 is only 7Days Old from factory with Windows 10 If  I close the lid the Yoga goes into Sleep Mode. When I open the lid it wakes up and randomly I get Phantom touches on the screen. Sometime it's so bad it opens multiple apps or programs and I am un able to shudown or close the applications.I've tried recalbrating the screen and i've also tried deleting all the Human interfaces to see if reinstalling them would help. All the Windows 10 updates are current. I've switched the settings  to shutdown if I close the lid and am manually putting it to sleep as a temporary measure which seems to work at the moment... time will tell.  I am very frustrated and disappointed, this is a brand new computer. Is there a fix for this?

Hi, I just bought a Lenovo Yoga 13 and I have a very big problem with the touchscreen. Seems to be constant false or pahntom (I don't know how to call it) clicks on touchscreen, on the upper right, like I press the touchscreen with my finger, but I do nothing. It's very annoying because I can't use the laptop like I want to. I disabled HID-compliant touch screen and the problem stoped, but I want my touchscreen back, because in this case it will be better to return the laptop and buy a normal one more powerfull but without touchscreen and tablet mode.I updated to windows 8.1 and the lastest drivers, but the same problem.Someone knows a solution for this? Thanks you!

Hi, I just got my new thinkpad yoga 370 that comes with windows 10 preinstalled and I'd like to do a Clean Install of Windows 7. Whoever I'm worried about drivers/comptibility issues, for example that the touch screen doesn't work anymore or that the wacom pen isn't compatible anymore.  Has someone tried to install windows 7 on one of these laptops or do you know if it's possible? If so what precautions should I take? Which drivers will I have to download after the install to make everything work properly? Thank you

What I encounter in detail:- "Ghost Touch" Phenomenon  ,Ghost touch What I've tried so far to fix it: Firmware update: Even though my screen is an LG and is clearly affected, the firmware update program told me it is "not at risk" and wouldn't need an update. So this solution: https://support.lenovo.com/de/de/products/Laptops-and-netbooks/Yoga-Series/Yoga-3-1470/Solutions/HT1... does not work, at all.Updating drivers: I've updated drivers several times with no lasting positive effect on the issue. Win 10 Updates: Seem to have no effect whatsoever, but I figured are worth trying. Lenovo Updates in Lenovo Companion: No effect. Hardware check in Lenovo Companion: Reports no hardware failures. Calibrating Touch and Stylus: No effect. Once it even got worse, but it certainly didn't fix anything... After i ve updated to windows 10 i cant change the auto rotation if im not on tablet mode, also in tablet mode the trackpoint isnt disabled. are there any tips or recommendations about these issues?20DM000VUS is my laptop model.

Answer:Thinkpad yoga 14 little issues after windows 10

Hi danielmb007 It took me some time to stabilize Windows 10 on the TPY 14 (20DM008UUS). I went into a "driver updating rampage" for it and I have it stabilized right now. This are my tips to update the drivers on my Thinkpad Yoga, but you can decide how deep you want to go for driver updating:1) Try first Windows Update and update all the drivers and Patches2) Try Lenovo System Update to get any new/missing drivers.3) Try to install Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion from the Windows App Store, Lenovo Companion also has a "update driver search"4) Sometimes all that software does not recognize some updated / missing driver. Check Lenovo's Support Site and search for your specific model drivers. This will be the Lenovo supported drivers, but if you want to look for other update drivers directly from the manufacturer (AS IS) you can try:5) Depending on the machine chipset/processor, you can try Intel Driver Update Utility, or AMD Update Utility.6) I also like to use DriverEasy, which offers a a decent driver update recognition for free, but also tries to sell you the full version. Just be warned that the drivers that are not from the Lenovo support site are "AS IS" and under your own risk, I install them since I'm confortable installing, and un-installing Windows drivers, remember that a wrong driver may turn up Windows un-usable. Regards

Hello, When I suspend my laptop (windows 10.1 -> sleep), I can't wake it up. The red led is in sleep mode but the switch on/off button does nothing. The only way out is a long press on the switch on/off button to shutdown the laptop and start it back normally. What could it be? Is there another way to wake up the laptop? Thank you for your help! Cheers,

I uninstalled the windows 8.1 that came with my Thinkpad Yoga to installe windows 7 64-bit because there was no support for Power Manager ( a tool that allows you to charge your battery only upto a certain percentage (eg 40%) which helps reduce battery aging when the notebook is mostly operated on AC power).Doing that required me to fully clean the Hard-disk during the installation process.I installed almost all of the drivers available on  http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-...for thinkpad yoga and windows 7 64 bit.Happily, this provided me the Power manager, and I can use it just as I wanted. However, all these has brought in additional issues which are listed below:  1. The touch pad right click doesn't work. Only two finger tap works as right click.2. The touch pad gestures for zoom and scroll doesn't work at all.3. The screen auto-rotate doesn't work.4. The touch screen gesture for zoom doesn't work. I did install the ultra-nav and screen-rotate drivers, but I get error messages regarding synaptics ... not working and also sensor driver not working during the windows startup. Any help please? Thank you.

Answer:Issues with Thinkpad yoga on Windows 7 64-bit

Follow up: After going through windows update and installing windows 7 service pack 1, some of the issues have been resolved. The screen auto rotates based on device orientation. The two finger scroll and zoom works on the touchpad. The physical right click still doesn't work. (The two finger tap for right-click is working). One important feature that I still find mssing is that the two finger pinch to zoom doesn't work on the Touchscreen (it works in Touchpad though). So, when I am browsing websites on Tablet mode, there is no way to zoom in! Thanks.

I'd like to ask about your experience with updating your 2nd generation Thinkpad Yoga 12 laptops from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. I've seen the black screen problem described, that seems to be an issue with the Synaptics driver and hopefully has been fixed with the current latest release of the synaptics driver from the synaptics site.  According to the discussion thread here anyway. But have you encountered any other issues?  Has Windows 10 been a positive upgrade for battery life?  Any tips on steps before upgrading, such as any driver incompatibility and setting up a back-up? My Yoga 12 is the variety with an i5 5300U and a "hybrid" 16GB SSD + 500GB HDD. Thanks!

Ever since I installed windows 10 the throttling on my yoga 15 has been rediculous. If the computer remotly heats up the programs that I am using slow down to a crawl randomly. This is especially evident on steam games and other heavy programs that require the dedicated graphics card. I have tried everything from reinstalling the nvidia drivers, updating the bios, clean installing windows 10, anything. I have not been able to find a solution for this and its getting quite annoying having my fps drop from 90 or 60 yo 5 every few seconds when before I could keep a solid 60+. Sometimes the fan revs up and down as my frame rates goes up and down. Has anyone found a solution for this? Or has Lenovo done released anything?

Greetings: I have a Thinkpad Yoga (Type 20CD, Model 00B1US) that shipped with Windows 8 Pro installed.  I later upgraded to Windows 10 Pro.  I need to reformat as the machine is sluggish at times.   Any suggestions/tips for doing a complete reformat of the hard drive and then a clean install using Windows 10 Pro?  My concern is impacting the BIOS or losing any of the Lenovo drivers for things like the function keys, keyboard light, screen digitizer, etc.  I am assuming simply reinstalling Windows 10 Pro (instead of reformatting and then reinstalling Windows 10 Pro) will not provide the performance boost I am looking for. Thank you in advance for your input.

The current configuration of my system (as bought) is 4Gb RAM.  According to the specifictions, it is upgradable to 8Gb.  I had a conversation with Sales Support via Chat trying to find the correct part number for 8Gb memory to replace the 4Gb.  I was told that as my system is still under warranty, I would need to contact Technical Support for this to happen.  Having done a number of searches on this forum, would I be right in suspecting that the existing 4Gb is soldered in to place - hence the need for a Warranty call to upgrade.  I was advised that any attempt to make the change myself would void the warranty.Any thoughts please.

http://thinkpads.com/support/hmm/hmm_pdf/tp_11e_yoga11e_hmm_en_sp40f29949.pdfThis seems to say there's one stick of socketed RAM.The bottom cover and the memory module are both marked as "optional-service CRU", so you won't really void warranty by replacing it yourself. The required RAM specification is this: PC3-12800 DDR3L SDRAM 1600MHz SODIMM. Just find an 8GB stick with those specs.

Hi, First post, I hope this is the correct spot, this is more Windows10 rather than X1 Yoga specific per se... If I reset Windows 10 from the recovery partition, will this include ALL the software included when I first received the laptop (including any Lenovo add ons)?  In other words, does it reset Windows to *exactly* the way it was when I received it from the factory?  I need the details on how Lenovo sets up the recovery partition. I haven't had the laptop long, and I'm happy to reinstall what little I've done since receiving it (mainly Office 365). (More details:  I'm setting it up to dual boot Windows and Linux.  I want to fix the bootloader partition.  There are other approaches I could use, but am happy to reset Windows as long as Lenovo has set the recovery partition to be identical to factory settings.  I'll create a recovery disk and system backup after I do the reset, so I have additional options in the future.)

I updated to Windows 10 last night on my brand new TPY 14 and afterwards the keyboard, trackpad and trackpoint don't work. In fact, as far as I can tell, only the function key works -- at least, turning on the keyboard backlight (fn-space) does. I've tried updating drivers but it says it's up to date. The Device Manager says the keyboard is working fine but it says that "Thinkpad UltraNav" cannot start (code 10), with this explanation: "Insufficient system resources exist to complete the API". Can anyone  give my any suggestions on this? It's pretty frustrating to have the keyboard die less than a day after buying the computer.

Since I've installed Windows 10 on my ThinkPad Yoga S1 (20C0-S0AX00), I've never been able to get audio via HDMI working. In theory, it looks like it's all fine: ? In practice, however, no audio is transmitted via HDMI (I tried it with different monitors), and the video signal of any application trying to play audio over HDMI is stuttering ? as if it's trying to sync audio and video, but failing for some reason. As soon as the output device is changed, the video plays smoothly again. Changing the "Default Format" did not change anything. Currently, "16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD quality)" is selected. A support ticket I opened quickly after upgrading to Windows 10 promised a driver update to fix this. A more recent ticket advised me to revert to the stock Windows 8.1 installation instead, which I refuse to do. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this issue?

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga S1 - No sound via HDMI on Windows 10

Hi

I have a different Thinkpad Yoga. Checking your issue I wonder if you would like to do some "trial and error" like:

1) Try a different HDMI cable, you never know.
2) Check the driver version of you Intel Display Audio. Here it is mine:
?
3) Just in case check the Lenovo Support site for your model and try updating the Intel Video and Realtek drivers just in case.

This is only that cames to my mind right now.

Hi, After upgrade to Windows 10 I noticed a major bug in touchpad driver. If you turn on TPY (from complete shutdown or sleep/hibernation), while leptop is tilted to one side, then the touchpad works in right angle to the regular finger movements. The incorrect movement of pointer will not resolve unless you turn on TPY again in a complete horizontal setting. The bug is only seen in Windows 10 and I did not have this bug in Windows 8.1. I'm using the latest driver: Synaptics ThinkPad UltraNav Driver Version 19.0.17. 2 Anybody tried this so far?I wish Lenovo solve the issue soon. Thanks,Amir

Hi Can you check the Windows "Device Manager" and see if by any chance is there a device that is not recognize or does not has the correct drivers? I have a Thinkpad Yoga 14 and there is a driver that detects if it on laptop or slate mode. When it came to driver I always try:1)"System Update" utility from Lenovo. If you do not have it already installed check it here. 2) The Intel Driver Update Utility,. to update Intel drivers. AMD has his own tool. (Under your own risk) 3) If you have experience installing drivers on Windows. I found it very usefull to use DriverEasy. It offers good enought (freeware) driver recognition of the things installed on your machine. But please notice that installing the wrong driver may screw things up. (Under your own risk) Remember that Intel Driver Update Utility and DriverEasy are not supported by Lenovo, this is only a suggestion to try to get the latest driver for your machine. Regards

So I've had this Yoga 12 for about 3 moths now. In the past month, after I installed a new windows update, the touchpad and trackpoint would not work, like it was disabled. I tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling-- did not work. I even reset the computer. STILL DID NOT WORK. So I ran the driver verifier which told me that the one of Lenovo products had problem with it--I don't remember which one-- so I uninstalled it. Still didn't work. After all that, I tried for the last time to uninstall the synaptics drive. When I uninstalled it... it was still there! I don't know how, but it was still there and now the touchpad and trackpoint both works. Well, sporadically. It will work for a few minutes, then won't work for a few minutes (or more). So.. that's where I am now (actually, right now, as I am writing this, only the trackpoint is working. oop nvm it stopped working). Any thoughts on how to fix this problem? Thanks! Also, when the touchpad & trackpoint works, the windows buttons are more condensed, while when it doesn't work, the buttons are more spread out (see below links). "condensed""spread out" p.s. also, does anybody's computer lag severely when you press the CapsLock button?? Which kind of disables the keyboard for a solid 7 seconds???

According to your full model number, I can recommend you first to check the Lenovo support site for your model and update the latest drivers.

But there had been also reports that some trackpads of the Thinkpad Yoga 12 had some issues ( ThinkPad Yoga 12 manufactured prior to October 2015. )
Here it is the link about it, please check it out.

Hello I bought a Yoga X1 last year and it was working fine until about 3 weeks ago. For unknown reasons - possibly because of some Windows 10 update or because I installed a "nightly built" of the VLC video player the touchscreen stopped working. Windows 10 could not find a driver anymore (claiming that the driver it found is not suitable for this version of windows or womething like that). Same happened with the Lenovo driver for the device from the Lenovo website. I always hat the device marked yellow and "not working properly" in the device manager. I finally found in a forum aomeone pointing to a different driver for the Xoga X1's Wacom device and installed it. Now it shows up in the Device manager without Problems, but I still have no touch functionality. I deinstalled VLC alread and updated Win 10 again - still no luck. do I need some additional driver to connect the device that is recognized in the Device manager with Windows 10 somehow? Or activate it? I booted from a USB rescue stick for Win 10 and there the touch functionality was ok - so its not a hardware issue! Thank you.

Im trying to do a Clean Install on my Thinkpad Yoga S1, everytime I get an error "windows cannot be installed to this disk" What do I need to do in order to fix this problem?

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga Wont Install Windows 7

Is there more to the error message?  Perhaps "...the selected disk is of the gpt partition style"

If so, you're booted in legacy mode but trying to install to a GPT drive.

Re-start the installer, hit SHIFT+F10 to bring up a command window, then type DISKPART.  Once diskpart is running type "list disk" then "select disk xyz" where xyz is your HDD as displayed by list.  Then type "clean".  Then "exit" and close the command window.

That should un-initialize the drive and allow the installer to format it MBR style.

Alternatively you could boot in UEFI mode and install Win 7 on the GPT-formatted drive.

Hello All, here is a good one:  (Maby a MOD will give this to development to take a look at this, unless someone hasseen this before????....) I have Several Thinkpad Yogas (20CDCTO1WW), After installing Win10 1607 & Microsoft Office (tried 2010 - 2016)All experience the same problem. If you open MS Word (Or Excel) Click insert, then select object, select object type - Microsoft Equation 3.0 & selectok, you cannot select any symbols.  When Clicking any button, it is like the calibration is way off.If you click the title bar to move the equation symbols, the bar moves down and to the left. I have confirmed this is something to do with the Windows 10 1607 & the Yoga.  The previous version of Win 10 itworked properly.  I also tried this on various models of Desktops  & Win 10 1607 and it works properly. I have tried different drivers, versions of Word, BIOS,  external mouse, but it makes no difference,  It has something to do with Win 10 1607 (Build 14393.222) & Yoga or so it seems. Maybe some type of driver issue?, if anyone has any clues I would appreciate it.           Thanks in advance!

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga Windows Boot Manager

run a hdd diagnostic from the Lenovo Diagnostic screen. 1. Restart the laptop, press F12 on restart, this should get you into the Boot menu. https://www.flickr.com/photos/lead_org/14645916417/in/photostream/2. Then press TAB, this will get you into the App menu, and in that you choose Lenovo diagnostic, using the direction key. https://www.flickr.com/photos/lead_org/14645828938/in/photostream/3. Choose quick storage device test.https://www.flickr.com/photos/lead_org/14852323083/in/photostream/4. then choose the hdd and/or ssd for a quick surface scan to see if it is alright. https://www.flickr.com/photos/lead_org/14829384881/in/photostream/5. then choose RUN TEST in the option lists. https://www.flickr.com/photos/lead_org/14645806150/6. If all your hdd tests pass the mustard, then you should get all PASSED for all the test parameters (provided you selected all the test parameters before you started the test). https://www.flickr.com/photos/lead_org/14830189744/

Just got my thinkpad today in the mail. I went about uninstalling the included Norton antivirus trial with the intention of turning on windows defender. I uninstalled Norton in the control panel and then used Norton's removal tool just to make sure.

When I tried to turn windows defender on in action center nothing happened. No messages or pop ups or anything. After some googling I was able to edit a defender registry file to let me turn it on. When I try to turn it on now the following happens:

Answer:Memory upgrade Thinkpad Yoga 11e Windows 8.1

http://thinkpads.com/support/hmm/hmm_pdf/tp_11e_yoga11e_hmm_en_sp40f29949.pdfThis seems to say there's one stick of socketed RAM.The bottom cover and the memory module are both marked as "optional-service CRU", so you won't really void warranty by replacing it yourself. The required RAM specification is this: PC3-12800 DDR3L SDRAM 1600MHz SODIMM. Just find an 8GB stick with those specs.

I just bought my yoga 12 thinkpad with windows 10 and the mouse has just stopped working/disappears. i have tried messing with the drivers, and I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Point Device Driver from Synoptics multiple times. Its giving me a code 10 on the driver (I believe meaning it can't talk to the rest of the computer) and everytime I try to update the drivers nothing happens (i think because I just downloaded the driver off the website). Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks,  Patrick

Hi,

You don't need to know the key.  It will be picked up during install automatically as long as you're installing the same version that shipped with the machine.  Either Lenovo or Microsoft media will work.

The key is not required during reset, nor is it required when installing from Microsoft media.

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga: Plugged in not charging. Windows 8.1

Hi I have had the same problem - got my Thinkpad Yoga on the 2/1/14. Windows 8.1 OS. The initial power management option in 'Lenovo settings' when I installed the OS provided for an option to 'Automatically optimize for battery life? - which I have just read elsewhere was supposedly removed as it had issues with Windows 8.1 (I could not agreee more) and got it resolved myself through some trial and error and retesting to prove the bug was repeatable for my own peace of mind as to the cause of the error. The only reason I am telling you the above is because you might have got yourself where you are by doing what I did - and that reverting out is not as simple as turning off that 'Automatically optimize for battery life? back to 'Full power'. I assume the 'Lenovo settings' software is dynamically provided over the internet, because that 'Automatically optimize for battery life? power menu option has now (fortunately) gone missing in the past 36 hours. HOWEVER, as I am having numerous OS blue screen of death issues, I reloaded the OS from scratch off the recovery drive to try and stabilise the OS and experienced the exact same issue with the machine not recharging after the OS was reinstalled. My best guess is that they have progammed the same power management bug into the recovery disk. Here is how I got it charging again... 1. Select 'Control Panel' under the Windows desktop (hold down the Windows keyboard ... Read more

My Thinkpad Yoga 14 is now basically a standalone CPU, and not a laptop/tablet since my Windows 10 upgrade.  The speakers did not work -- that was easy to fix.  The keyboard on the laptop will not work, and the tablet will not rotate.  I have tried so many suggestions to fix it, but it is now rendered just a cpu with external keyboard, mouse and monitor.  This is very disappointing.  Any ideas on how to fix the keyboard and tablet rotation features?

Hey, I have this problem too, sort of. I've had my yoga 12 for about a month now and the internal microphone is no longer showing up in the device manager. Not only that, but my computer won't even detect an external microphone. I don't know that it's a problem with something you deleted (at least assuming we are having the same problem) because I didn't do that. I know this is a long way of saying I have no idea how to help you, but at least you know you aren't the only one? I've tried reinstalling drivers and I can't think of what else to do.

Hi! Just entered the community as i recently bought a lenovo thinkpad S1 yoga. i am very satisfied with it overall, but right now there is one thing that bothers me. It came preinstalled with windows 7. Now, i did get recovery CDs with windows 8, but i do not currently have an external DVD to make use of them. Now, my first thought was that there must be a way of installing windows 8 without the discs, because of the windows 8 sticker at the bottom of the Unit that basically says it has (had) windows 8 at some point, but i havent yet found a solution.Would anyone know how to move on from this point? except from bying the external dvd-reader and use the CDs? cheers

Hi,

When I connect Thinkpad Yoga (model 20CD00B1US) to the onelink dock, the stylus stops working.

In order to enable the stylus and Wacom driver following 2 options/ workarounds:
1)  Manually stop and restart the Wacom ISD Service
2) or reboot the machine while the Onelink dock is attached.

I'm using the latest 7.2.0-4 Wacom driver version, all latest lenovo software installed installed on the machine.

Both above mentioned workarounds are ugly, does anybody have a better suggestion to fix this issue?

I posted a similar question earlier and people referred me to the Yoga (much appreciated).  However, I was interested in the 2.6 lb carbon version with touch screen capabilities.  Asus has a Spin 7 model that is very good at 2.65lb, but I miss the red mouse toggle in the middle of the keyboard and Asus's track pad was designed too large....causing unintended tapping.  The Yoga, while nice, is heavier than I was looking for.  The 14 inch screen is about 3.3lb? the 12 inch at 3? I thought that some of the earlier Thinkpad Carbons had touch screen and was hoping they would make a return soon.  Thanks,

I wonder if anyone else is having issues with windows 10 starting up slowly and lagging for 2-5 minutes. The desktop takes a while to load as does the task bar at the bottom of the screen. During these 2-5 minutes programs will start up slowly. The startup times on Windows 10 are very dissapointing compared to windows 8.1.

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 14 Windows 10 Slow Start Up

How did you upgrade to Windows 10? Did you do a clean install or keep your old programs and files? Sounds like you will need to do a clean install preferably from a USB drive using Microsoft's tool and then individually re-install the Lenovo apps from the Lenovo support page for Thinkpad Yoga 14. While I'm still having some issues myself, the clean install did get the boot up times and general performance back up to normal.  http://winsupersite.com/windows-10/windows-10-clean-install-using-media-creation-tool#slide-0-field_...

Hi everyone. My Thinkpad (Yoga 12.5, WINDOWS 10) screen acting strangely. It works, then touch function stops. It starts working again when I do enable/disable HID touchscreen in device manager. Works sometimes 10 minutes, sometimes an hour or more, then stops again. Power saving option is OFF on this device. Drivers are all updated to the latest through Lenovo driver update process.Since it is partially fixed by driver enable / disable function, I suspect it is software and not hardware issue, however can not pinpoint it. Other clues to solve this mistery: 1)It is plugged in (not on battery) 2) HID-compliant touch screen driver is Microsoft version (10.0.16299.15) Driver date 6/21/2006 (Maybe old?) I hope somebody can help.Thank you.

Have you also tried to check con "Control Panel - Sound" ? On the "Playback" tab you can see all the "sound output" device, included the HDMI to see which one is working. You can also right click it and select "test". If the HDMI output sound does not show there, it may be a drivers issue.

I always try to keep the drivers updated against the Lenovo support site for my model. I try to update drivers on this order.
1) Use Windows Update
2) Use Lenovo System Update
3) Install Lenovo Companion and Lenovo Settings
4) Sometimes this tools miss to install some updated drivers, so I also try the Support site.

I hope this can give you some hints.

Hey. I have a Yoga 15 ThinkPad Notebook and have been having an issue. The issue occurs randomly through use (even during boot and safe mode). The laptop will vibrate and the system will act as if the windows key has been pressed. Pressing the windows key itself or touching the screen does not cause the vibrate function to occur so I'm not sure where this is coming from? If I'm using TeamViewer to view another PC from the Yoga 15, the remote terminal reacts similarly; acting as if the windows key has been pressed (at random intervals, sometimes not for 10-20 minutes, other times 3+ successively in a short period. Because it even occurs during boot without the OS being loaded I imagine it is a hardware issue, is there a particular peripheral that would cause the vibrate and windows key hit that I could disable? Previously on Windows 8.1 and now Windows 10, this issue has persisted through both operating systems. Any advice would be nice. Thanks    ----------Edit:Moments after posting I realized that there is a windows logo on the screen panel bezel and if I touch that the laptop vibrates. Hi! We have a number of ThinkPad Yoga 11e, most of them are about 1.5 years old and we're currently updating their Windows 10 image and BIOS. Imaging process completes fine, but updating the BIOS has caused us a lot of issues. When updating BIOS from within Windows with the latest BIOS Update Utility (1.26) from Lenovo's website the laptops crash with a blue screen of death (BSOD). We then tried all previous BIOS versions (from 1.10 and up), but they all crashed too. The current BIOS version on the laptops is 1.10, but even that failed. We initially ran the installer from our network drive with the installer file renamed for easier identification. We have since tried renaming the installer file back to the original name and running it locally. Have also tried running it only with wireless enabled, running only with Ethernet enabled. At one point we thought there might have been another installation process running in the background (drivers, Windows Update), so made sure that had all completed. The BIOS upgrade still crashed the laptop. We have been unable to pinpoint any of the above scenarios to be the culprit, as now some of them work randomly. Two machines side by side, one will work and the other one will fail. We're pulling our hair out with this one. Has anyone else had this experience and have you found what steps need to be taken to successfully complete the BIOS upgrade every time?

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga 11e - BSOD when updating BIOS from Windows

Does Windows create an DMP (or MDMP) file after the BSOD?
If so, can you zip it up and put it on dropbox/onedrive/etc so I can take a look?
I have heard of a similar issue previously (on a different system) and it was caused by AV/security software.

I just purchased the 20DM009Gus (thinkpad yoga 14) from this site when it was on sale the other day, however I was just given an offer for the 20DK0023us (thinkpad yoga 12) which was the size I originally wanted, for the same price. I know each have their pros and cons, but I am wondering if anyone has first hand advice with either or both devices to help me decide which I really should choose? Thanks!

Answer:A Decision Between Thinkpad Yoga 12 and Thinkpad Yoga 14, help?!

Hi chiakri.

I have a TPY 14 (20DM008UUS) and I'm happy with this model. I didn't not compare it to the TPY 12, but mine is working fine and have no issues. It didn't came with a pen, but it supports "Active pen", so I bought a Thinkpad Pen Pro and it worked fine.

I prefer to stick with the 14" screen but that is more about personal prefence. Maybe if you like to use it very much on tablet mode with a pen, possible the 12" will be more confortable to hold as a book.. but I'm just guessing.
Regards

I am hhaving difficulty finding an acceptable scaling mix between resolution, system scaling, and edge scaling. At 1080p, 125%, 125%, os navigation is mostly fine, but edge text is way too large. At 1080p, 125%, 100%, edge text is way too small. At all combinations text is inflated (but crisp) in certain elements while fuzzy in others. What scaling combinations work best for you? I am considering returning this to Best Buy and upgrading to a Pro 4 / Book, or even a Mac. The scaling is ruining an otherwise great experience.

Hey guys, I'm a PreMed student who's life revolves around his laptop. I'm always on social media, watching some show, listening to music, doing an essay, taking notes, updating some website, or emailing some person on campus. Of course, my old laptop broke. It was a Dell Inspiron. Now, I have a campus job and have been saving money(so money is not factor necessarily). After researching my options, I've narrowed my choices down to the three previously listed laptops. I just want to know which do you guys suggest and why?

Answer:Surface Book vs Lenovo Yoga 900 vs ThinkPad X1 Yoga

By looking at your requirement, you prefer on-the-go PC that lets you do all that on a decent budget, SP4 is better than SB(if you want lightweight device and decent battery life), Lenovo's are pretty good too. X1 w/o OLED seems to be a better buy in terms of ultraportability and battery life. You could wait for others to chime in.

The Thinkpad sticker with the red light above the 'i' doesn't turn on unless the screen turns to tablet mode. Is there any way for the light to stay on all the times? The one near the keyboard does work, the issue is with the light on the outside lid.

I just upgraded my Thinkpad S3 Yoga 14 to Windows 10 today. After the upgrade, the Wifi network stopped working. Device was reported correctly installed on Device Manager, but available Wifi networks weren't shown.I tried a lot of things, uninstalling the Wifi device from Device Manager, updating to the Windows 10 lastest drivers from the Lenovo Support page, installing old driver versions of the Wifi card... reboots, reboots, a lot of reboots. No success. Finally I'm going back to Windows 8.1. I waste a lot of time of work trying to solve that problem. A not working Wifi network is a big issue for me, my work is 100% network connected. My WiFi card is:Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260Anyone else with this problem?ThanksLeonardo

Answer:Thinkpad S3 Yoga 14 Windows 10 (Final Version) WiFi Not Working

I have upgraded 3 different Yoga 14 systems to Win10 and I never saw this problem.  We have heard that AV/firewall/security software might cause this issue.  Do you have any software like that installed?  If so, please try uninstalling it and see if WiFi works under Win10.

Ever since I bought my Yoga 12 with WIndows 10 I cannot use the "re-start" function on the start menu power button.  It goes onto on Lenovo start screen, then a second and then black and does nothing.   Therefore, I never use "restart".   However, whenever Windows 10 does an update that requires me to shut down, the same thing happens.  I have worked out how to break out of the "start" process and get to the advanced set up area.  I then EITHER: "Exit and continue to windows": rarely works but did this morning "troubleshoot" start up : works most of the time - sometimes just saying it can't find anything wrong and me turning off and on or by following some process Finally, on two occassions I've had to resort to restoring to a saved restore point.  The first time I did this it said it hadn't worked but it had actually worked, and the second time I did this it just worked. However, I now quake in fear whenever I see Windows needs to update and I have time to write on a forum to see if there is a solution.   I will also pose this question on a Windows 10 Forum but if anyone on here has had the same issue and can let me know who to resolve it I would appreciate it.

I normally have a C:/, H:/, J:/, N:/, X:/, and Y:/ drive, but in a mysterious phenomenon I have lost all of those. I have work to save on those drives, and they are inaccessible. I have attempted to go to Disk Management, but I am denied "access rights," presumably as I am not a licensed IT guy. If there is anything that can be done, I need it done.

Answer:Missing Network Locations--Windows 8.1, Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga

You needn't be a licensed (or even unlicensed) IT guy to use Disk Management, but I am guessing that you are using a work computer that is probably in a domain and you will need to get help from your IT department.

I updated the BIOS recenlty at Lenovo's prompting, and since then the search function on Windows 10 hasn't worked. The two things could be unrelated, but it seems like the search function is completely absent from the system - the settings on search lead nowhere and neither does the shortcut in the Start menu or in the tray - any help gratefully received as I think of search as quite an important part of the system! Richard

Hi! I am running Windows 8.1, I have all the current updates. I have the latest wireless driver, and the newest graphics driver from the support page. There is no "Add a wireless display" option under Devices > Project, so I guess I cannot use Miracast? What is wrong? Thanks!

Yoga ThinkPad upgrade to Windows 10.  My horizontal area at the bottom of the Touchpad scrolls the screen up and down, and the right vertical area of the Touchpad scrolls the screen left to right.  The reverse direction choices only reverse up/down or left/right and not how the horizontal/vertical areas operate. Did anyone else experience this?  Thanks.

I have been asked to see if I can obtain some advice on the Calibration tool for the ThinkPad Yoga on Windows 7. The query comes from someone setting up the Yoga as the standard devices for a large number of people.  Corporate policy means Windows 7 Enterprise is the OS in place. The issue they have is wishing to allow standard users who do not have any local administrative permissions the ability to run the calibrartion tool which appears to allow only those with administrative permissions to do so? Any suggestions?

I have a Thinkpad Yoga with Windows 8.1 Pro. As I have understood factory reset is only possible through Windows Update and Recovery? Will this option still work after I do a clean install of Windows 8.1? Thanks for replies!  /henrikh

Answer:Thinkpad S1 Yoga screen rotation issues after windows 10 upgrade

Hi sumitgoyal3832
Welcome to the forums. Can you please post the full model number of you Thinkpad S1 Yoga?

I have a different Yoga Machine, but when I upgraded to Windows 10 it took me some work updating the drivers to stabilize it. Maybe you can try to updating the driver.

I try that in this order:
1) Windows Update - Check for any update there
2) Use Lenovo System Update to see if it find any BIOS or Driver update
3) Install Lenovo Settings and Lenovo Companion from the Windows Store.
4) Sometimes some newer drivers does not show on System Update or on Lenovo Companion. Check also the "Lenovo Support Site" with you full model number and check for any driver... you can sort driver by date.

But maybe your computer is a older one and does not have Windows 10 drivers on the Lenovo Site.
In that case I also use "DriverEasy" but that is un-support from Lenovo and AS IS under your own risk. But in my case that tool helped me out a lot to find newer drivers on my machine.
I hope this tips can you some help.

Regards

Hi there! By some reason I ordered my Lenovo Yoga Thinkpad with Windows 7 pre-installed on it. I thought all portable devices was delivered with Windows 8. However, since I experience that scrolling using fingers in tablet mode is quite laggy I wonder if it's performance could be speeded up running the Yoga Thinkpad with Windows 8 instead? It runs quite smooth using the mousepad so I had an idea of the antiglare filter that's applied to the sceen that might cause this laggy experience? Or maybe there's a driver that speeds things up?

My previous x61 tablet has this feature on trackpoint: Press-to-Select. However, I did not find it on my helix's trackpoint settings. Since the left button on the touch pad is hard to press, I would like to use trackpoint to act as the left button. Any way or hack to enable this feature on helix's trackpoint?  Thanks!

I freshly installed Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and got everything to work, but I just can't disable the annoying right-click function when staying on one spot with the pen. Others had the problem before, but disabling the function in the "Pen and Touch" settings or directly changing the registry as described in the link above just has no effect at all! The box is not checked, the registry key is set to "3", but I still can press and hold my pen for a right-click. Any ideas? Maybe I should re-install the drivers for the pen? How do I do that? Thanks!
