I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello everyone, I just ordered a week ago a new Thinkpad W700 with the W700 Mini Dock 1.0 (43R8782) and I am still waiting anxiously to receive it. Today I have received an email from Lenovo telling me my order was modified and the Mini Dock was cancelled because of EOL (End Of Line?). I went back to the Lenovo Web site and I found the same Mini Dock still listed and available for ordering. I also found a new Mini Dock 2.0 (57Y4345) for the same price but the 170W power supply (41R4421) is not included. The power supply cost an additional 100$. Of course there is NO difference between the old model and the new one beside the fact that the power supply is not included anymore. Now I do understand Lenovo need to make some money somewhere, but isn't against the law to do something like this? I do think here in Quebec there is something called false representation or taking advantages of the customer? If the new docking station was alot cheaper I would probably bite the bullet and just order it, but this is crazy. Am I the only one here that think that there is a problem with this? Especially since I already placed my order in good faith and even when they tell me it's not available anymore it's still listed as available on the website? What can I do about this? Thanks for your thoughts. Alain HogueMontreal, Qc ------------------------Current Laptop: Thinkpad A31p, Pentium 4 - 2Ghz, 100GB HD, 2GB RAM, 1600x1200, Win XP S... Answer:ThinkPad W700 Mini Dock 2.0

ahogue,

Thanks for purchasing the W700....I do not think you will be disappointed.

To answer your question, there is a difference between the two versions of the Port Rep.

From the product description, there is the following line:

Supports ThinkPad 170-watt and 230-watt AC adapters

This version of the Port Rep will also support the new 230-watt power supply for the next generation of W700.  Since this Port Rep supports two different power supplies for two different generations of W700, you would use the AC adapter that came with your system.

One reason being....you would not want to dock your 170-watt W700 to a 230-watt power supplied Port Rep...it was not designed for that amount of current.

I'm not sure why the older Port Rep would still be available for purchase if you received an email stating it was End of Life.  Sounds to me like the sales website needs to be updated.  If you could, send me a PM with the contents of the email you received and I can make some inquiries.

Regards

Dear all, would like to inquire if X220 will operate with two external monitor? I'm ok to close the lid of my X220.The 4337 docks support VGA and DVI, will both work together? What's working:- I have been using x220 screen with another external monitor through VGA connection.- Connecting Dell 2340L direct to VGA works with X220 screen, not with 2 external monitor. What's not working:- Recently got a Dell 2340L which contains only VGA and HDMI, which I thought HDMI would work with an adaptor (HDMI to DVI) port - no response although the Windows 7 detects external monitor display.

I have a ThinkPad W520-4282. I want to use a ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 (170W) [pn 433830U] at work and a Lenovo USB 2.0 Port Replicator with Digital Video [0A33942] at home.I did not have to install any drivers for the Mini Dock and it worked just fine driving an external monitor. After installing the driver for the Port Replicator, I could no longer drive the external monitor when attached to the mini dock or the VGA+ video port on the ThinkPad.I played with a lot of things to fix the situation and nothing worked. I even uninstalled the driver for the Port Replicator and still could not drive an external monitor. In fact the laptop did not even recognize that an external monitor was attached.Later I found using the Device Manager that the NVIDIA Qadro 1000M display adapter was disabled, proabably during installation of the Port Replicator driver. Once I enabled that, I could drive an external monitor again. Can anyone tell me if this is normal? Will I be able to use the Port Replicator if I install the driver again?

When I dock the computer and press the power button on the dock it doesn't recognize my monitor as the main screen. I have to hit a key (Windows 10) and put in my password hoping that it's doing that and then the screen comes up. If I reboot after that ... THEN.... it recognizes my screen as the main monitor. How do I fix this? The only time this happens is when I use it off the dock and then put it back on. If it stays on the dock all the time it does just fine. Any fixes for this? Thanks...

Hello,The laptop in question will not charge with the above mentioned dock when it previously did. If you shut down the mahcine and turn it back on when docked it works, but after this point if undocked and docked again it seems to lose it's ability to charge via the dock giving the "plugged in but not charging" message on the power system icon from the taskbar. As it stands the laptop can be charged by the AC port on the back and as mentioned when given a power cycle on the dock. The above issue happens on several docks with different power supplies. The laptop is no longer in warranty and it is possible to get this sent back and repaired (paying for the service) if that is an option. This is greatly inconvenient for the user affected and is causing disruption daily.

I hooked the one Acer monitor directly to the monitor port, and it works perfectly.  I then hooked the other through a Triton SS2 Extreme UV200 External DVI/VGA Video Card as was recommended for me to do so.  The Triton has a USB plug which I then connected to one of the USB ports on the back of the docking station, and loaded the software.  Everything worked great but the 2nd monitor screen enlarges everything.  So I though I could just go into the control panel and adjust that monitors settings.  However, the system is only recognizing the monitor in the monitor port of the docking station.  In the connection directions, it says the 2nd monitor has to be connected to the other USB port that is not standard and is on the far left of the back of the dock with an emblem the has 2 "+" signs stacked on each other followed by a bold "D" (I think).  I have tried to see if there is an adapter to convert the standard USB to fit this other port, and no one has been able to help me.  Does anyone have any recommendations, idea's or knowledge of how to work through this?  Thanks.

Answer:Help with connecting dual monitors to the THinkPad Mini Dock 3 for my ThinkPad T 510

that is the Displayport, which can be converted to a DVI or VGA port using an appropriate adapter. But there is no USB adapter for the Displayport, as they use a different technology.

I have a simple question, Can I run 2 external monitors using the Ultrabase series 3 with the X230 docked and the lid open? My goal is to be able to see basically 3 displays. The main one would be the laptop and the other two extended monitors connected to the dock stations. One connected with VGA cable and the other with display port cable. Any help is appreciated.  Sebastiano

Hi, Everyone. Got me a nice little x270 to replace my old x201.  Happy enough with the machine, but getting it connected to my accessories (monitor, keyb, mouse, ethernet) is a bit of a chore. This machine appears to have a "proper" dock port on the bottom.  Is there a compatible ultradock available for the model 20HN x270?  By proper - I mean, Not USB.  A nice dock I can simply drop the machine into when I'm at the home office.. Thanks!

hi guys i really want to try a windows 8 tablet and i plan to buy it either by the end of this month or by next January. I am confused on what to pick though
First of all, the reason why I want a windows 8 tablet IS because i like the interface. but more importantly, i need metatrader and cTrader in legacy app as im a full time forex trader. I have metatrader in my iphone but you cant seriously compare that with the windows version (no tabbing, no lines drawing, no fibonacci, etc.). cTrader doesnt even exist there.
im looking to replace my macbook pro (which btw i also installed windows 8 on it through parallels virtual desktop) with a windows 8 tablet to support my trading while im outside
So basically I dont need a super i7 tablet or something. However, im curious to know how windows 8 atom tablets perform. I have seen enough reviews and some people says atom tablets perform badly in legacy apps. Question is, how bad is that bad? Does it lag so bad even though i dont need to run heavy apps like adobe? I only need to run these trading apps which btw are very light. You can compare them with MS paint i believe, just with constant connection.
would it do well in atom tablets? I dont want lags when i switch from win8 native apps to metatrader and cTrader.
next question - how does windows 8 tablet on-screen keyboard work with legacy apps? Would i have special gesture to show up the on-screen keyboard or it automatically appears when i touch the screen? I personally dont believe ... Read more

Answer:Help Me Choose My Tablet - Thinkpad Tablet 2, Vivotab, Acer W700, Etc.

I forgot to add one more question. how responsive legacy apps (desktop mode) is to your finger? Do i really need a pen or it doesnt help either? Because acer w700 doesnt come with a pen so it's also a crucial question for me

I have thinkpad x230 tablet, and I have mixed feeling about it. It is a quite powerful one, does most of the job but have too many design flaws - broken rubber latch after a while and rubber buffers in the bottom etc.,  I hate the new gen x240 laptop, especially the X series convertible laptop is discontinued. Stupid, in my opinion, yoga design. I, no way, want to flip the keyboard to any surface. Especially on a field trip. X240 discontinues Express Card slot, no thunderbolt, no digitizer. The removal of trackpoint 3 click buttons, which were combined with the trackpad. People complain a lot when they accidentally click the trackpad while typing. I am a trackpoint person, not trackpad person. So the removal was **** retarded, anti consumer, anti Thinkpad legacy!Pls, see this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jb7p3VkQCOo. Following the discussion in that topic:http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/Installing-msata-ssd-in-X230-voids-warranty/m-... I noticed that all the mini-PCIe devices (WLAN, WWAN, mSATA) are listed as non-CRU in the X230 HMM. They were listed as CRUs in the X220 and older HMMs. The implications are clear - a user can no longer replace/upgrade any of these without losing warranty, nor can he/she request that a replacement module be shipped to him/her under warranty. From glancing at the manual, I didn't notice any significant changes in the process of installation/replacement of said modules. Is there a technical reason for them being removed from the CRU list? Is it a policy change? An error in the manual? Would greatly appreciate any clarification.

Answer:Thinkpad X230 - Mini-PCiE not Customer-Serviceable?

Ohh thats bad because I installed a mSATA SSD in my X230 because it was allowed in the X220. And the X220 and the X230 are exacty the same in this part. And the palmrest ist still CRU so in my opinion it makes no sense to forbid this because after removing the palmrest everything is very easy to accesable.  edit:I also looked in the Manual of the X230 tablet and there the WWAN and WLAN are CRU. And I see mo reason why that should be different on the X230.

I have just completed a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate and all went well except for the screen brightness issue. Anyone have any ideas where I can simply increase this as I have searched everywhere for screen brightness, even BIOS for any setting for display. I have latest update to display driver. I have two other laptops and each shows much brighter than this one and I am surely disappointed in this display. Not sure if it is because this screen is touch enabled and also works off keyboard that could be the issue and a separate setting could be involved on the touch side of the display as it does work with a stylus pen or touch also. thanks and   I hope I can get this brightness to increase somewhat as it is too hazy for me.

Hi everyone:I am considering to upgrade my wireless adapter for my laptop. Currently I am using Thinkpad X230 Tablet with Intel Centrino Wireless N 2200. My laptop has bluetooth. I have questions:1. Does the bluetooth come with my wireless adapter? I mean that If I upgrade my wireless card, do I have to buy a card with wifi and bluetooth? 2. I am considering to upgrade to Intel 62205 AN. This is the linkhttp://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=INT-62205&show=p Is that worth to upgrade? (functionality, price, ...)  Is the product compatible with my current Thinkpad X230T?  3. Can I install 2 cards and run silmultanerously . It sounds greedy but I know a software, named "connectify"; it allows laptop to connect many networks silmutanerously, for example: 4G, Lan, wifi.  4. I see some people mention about Intel Ultimate 6300. What additional functionalities do I get compared to 62205  or Intel 2200? Thank you.

Answer:Upgrade Wireless Adapter for Thinkpad X230 Tablet

1. Bluetooth and wireless cards are separate on the ThinkPad X220, X220t, X230, and X230s. http://www.flickr.com/photos/lead_org/8276508687/in/set-721576320273504682. You would need an Intel 6205 card with Lenovo FRU number on it, generic one won't work. 2200 only operates in the 2.4 ghz bandwidth, while the 6205 can operate in both 2.4 and 5 ghz bandwidth. So the question is does your router have 5 ghz bandwidth and support MIMO?3. No you can't. The WWAN/mSATA slot would give an error message saying an unauthorized card is installed (1801 error). 4. 6300 card has 3 x 3 setup and operates in 2.4 ghz and 5 ghz range. Max speed of 450 mpbs6205 has 2 x 2 setup, 2.4/5 ghz range, and max speed of 300 mbps.2200 has 2 x 2 setup, but operates in the 2.4 ghz range and max speed of 300 mbps.

Hello,  I'm having some trouble with turning on my laptop. The problem originally started when some keys on my keyboard stopped working. I cleaned the keys, restarted my laptop, tried a previous restore point and then did a hard reset after nothing worked to fix my laptop.  After hard resetting, I tried turning on my laptop and it did not turn on. So far, I've plugged in my laptop into the adaptor, plugged the adaptor directly into the wall outlet, and removed the battery and plugged in the laptop. The one thing I have noticed with my laptop is that when I plug in the adaptor, the battery and sleep lights turn on for a moment, then the sleep light turns off, and the battery light will stay on momentarily but then it will blink off after a few seconds. What else should I do? Thank you

If it is under warranty, call for service, rather than dealing with it. The first step is to unplug it and remove the battery. Press the power button 5 times, holding it for 10 seconds on the last push. Put it back together; plug it in, and try again.

The one thing I have noticed with my laptop is that when I plug in the adaptor, the battery and sleep lights turn on for a moment, then the sleep light turns off, and the battery light will stay on momentarily but then it will blink off after a few seconds. What else should I do? Thank you

Hello. I have a Thinkpad X230. I'm trying to drive video to a Samsung LCD TV via the mini displayport, with a mini displayport  --> hdmi adaptor (i've tried two adaptors now). The X230 detects the the Samsung TV when connected, both in the Sound and in the Graphics Properties. You can hear the connect / see the PC screen flash when the cable is plugged in. Unfortunately I can't get any sound or video on the TV. (I just tried connecting to a Dell Monitor and was able to get it to work.) The TV takes HDMI from my Dell laptop just fine on the same cable/input to the TV.The other problem is that in trying to adjust settings, now when I plug in the HDMI cable via the adaptor, the PC screen goes blank, it seems to be trying to make the TV primary, and the TV is getting the signal, so I have to pull the cable out to get the PC display back. Any ideas on setting / adjustments? ThanksAlan

My T510 does not have an eSATA port, so I purchased the Mini Dock Plus Series 3.  However, the eSATA port does not detect my external HDD. I have other PC's that detect the HDD on their eSATA ports just fine so I know it is not the HDD. The ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 information page indicates that the eSATA port is compatible with the T510. The laptop is running Windows 7 64-bit. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a 2504 Advanced mini-dock in the office and it works fine.I've bought another 2504 FRU 41W6563 for home. It only seems to part work though. When you put the machine in the dock the power supply is detected from the mini-dock, but nothing else seems to work, especially the USB ports, even if I shutdown Windows, and reboot. With the switch in the unlocked position, there is no green light, when you switch it to locked, the red light comes on.I'm confused if this is the right mini-dock - Can anyone help or suggest anything? My Thinkpad is a T61, 7659-A71

HiI don't have a solution, but a similar problem. I wish there was some real documentation for this piece of hardware.I am using the advanced mini-dock with my new T61 (14.1" with the integrated graphics card) and it's all hit-and-miss.Undocking the laptop seems to provide no problems, but getting it to dock really is hit and miss. More often than not it doesn't seem to work. The display setting won't switch, and I can't get to the display manager or if I can it shows only the default setting as the choice. Most of the time the display on my T61 is blank too.I have it set up so that it's supposed to switch to the external DVI monitor at 1280x1024. When it works it work beautifully, but the fact that it doesn't makes me use the docking station less oftenthat I wouldAre there some do's and don'ts or a FAQ regaring the use of the docking station? The only instructions that came with it was one sheet of drawings. I looked on the lenovo site for more instructions but didn't find any. What is the purpose of the power switch on the dock? I can't tell when it's on or off (or if it even does something). Ie when the T61 isn't docked, I don't see anything if I push the power button on the dock.I really like the idea of the docking station, I just wish it would work better for me.Does the system have to be up and running if it's docked? Hi I'm trying to figure out whether the mini dock 4337 supports triple display configurations. There seems to be confusing information in your documentation: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-76617 - This page says that with Optimus enabled systems, triple display configurations are supported.http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-72871 - This page says "any two of the three video ports can be used simultaneously" Which one's correct? Or am I reading them wrong? My thinkpad T410 has Optimus enabled. Second question: Using a DVI cable to connect the mini doc to the external monitor doesn't work. In Ubuntu, it detects the monitor is connected, but cannot send the display (even if I have just ONE monitor connected - via the DVI cable).. Very frustrating. Please help RegardsManav

Answer:Thinkpad T410 and Mini dock 4337

The triple display includes the internal display, so it can support 2 external displays through the Mini Dock 4337. If you are using displayport, the DVI port is automatically disabled. Can you tell me a little bit about your LCD setup?

I am having trouble finding out how to do something that SHOULD be simple to do, so any help here would be appreciated. I recently acquired a Lenovo T410 and a Mini dock Series 3 (4337). I wiped the machine and returned it to the way it was when it came from the factory. Now I want to use it in the dock at my desk and I have a problem. The whole idea of having the dock is to allow the laptop and dock to be 'out of the way' at the back corner of the desk and simply access it with an external keyboard; mouse; and LCD display. Ideally, when it is in use on my desk, I do not want to have to open up the display. Therein lies my problem. The external display is connected to the VGA connector on the mini-dock and when I start the laptop by pressing the power button on the mini-dock, NOTHING shows on the monitor. The external keyboard; Mouse and network connection all work just fine on the dock - my only problem is the display. I have to open up the display, wait for the login screen; press the Windows key - P combination to pop up the display "chooser'; select "Duplicate" and press enter before the external display will work. This is extremely inconvenient. Is there ANY way to have the display automatically come up on the external monitor when the machine boots up in the dock? I have owned several other machine/dock combinations, including ones by Toshiba; H-P; Gateway and Dell and have NEVER run into this type of problem before. All I want is for the T410 to start up on its interna... Read more

Answer:Thinkpad T410 and Mini dock 4337

Hi, welcome to the forum!

You have to access the Bios setup for this to work.
If I remember the T410 Bios correctly, there is the menu "Config". Pressing enter you will see the submenu "Display". There you can adjust the T410 to send image to Analog (VGA), Digital on Thinkpad and Digital on dock. Try Analog first. After you select it press F10 to save and reboot, see what happens.

I hope it solves your problem, please post back your results!

Hi meng, Welcome to the Lenovo forum. You are correct, the X3100 GPU can display (only) two screens at a time. If you need more screens, you could use a USB-DVI converter like this one. Another member reports good results with it in this thread. Cheers,Frank

Hello all,  I just got a Thinkpad Mini Dock 3 with the USB 3.0 port. However, the dock port does not work with my W520 (which has USB 3.0 on it). The dock port does work with my X220 (yes, old school), however (which also has 3.0 port). So, the fault is not the dock, but some kind of issue between the W520 and the Mini Dock. I've uninstailled and reinstalled the 3.0 hub driver, updated drivers, and searched everywhere but cannot find a fix. Can anyone offer a suggestion on how to fix this issue? Thanks kindly,Dylan

I can find no Lenovo documentation anywhere that explains how to use the two buttons, numbered1 and 2, in the upper left-hand corner of this docking station. Button 2 is the large, square, eject button. If I understand correctly, if I want to eject my Thinkpad (T500)from the dock, I first choose an eject command somewhere in software, then press this buttonto mechanically eject the computer from the dock. Correct? Button 1, just above Button 2, is a thin, rectangular, metal switch of the kind you'd use to engage anddisengage functions on an audio receiver. I have no idea how to use it or what it's for. Can someone explain?

Answer:Buttons 1 and 2 on ThinkPad Advanced Mini Dock

The button that is listed as "1" is to send the command to undock the laptop from the dock. The button listed as "2" is the physical eject button.  These buttons work with the Lenovo Easy Eject software that is installed on the laptop.  To use the buttons, you simply press the button "1" and the light will flash for a moment then it will switch to button "2".  Once button "2" is lit, then you press it to eject. Hope this helps you.

I have just set up a new T500 with the Advanced Mini Dock. I am using a Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard. They are connected through one of the USB ports on the dock. The problem I am experiencing is the USB ports aren't working on the dock during start-up so I can not use my mouse and keyboard to unlock the computer. The Mini Dock "instructions" were less than helpful for trouble shooting. Am I doing something wrong, missing something or do I have a bad dock? If I plug my Logitech receiver directly into the computer I can unlock and start-up, then the ports work on the dock but that kind of defeats the purpose of having the dock.

Hello,I think of buying the ThinkPad T400 with one of these docking stations: ThinkPad Advanced Dock or ThinkPad Dock II.I have several technical questions and haven't found neither appropriate information, nor the way to get it.Here are my questions:1. Do these docking stations support DVI when T400 with integrated (not discrete) graphics is connected? 2. Where can I find a complete list of UltraBay devices supported by each one of these docking stations? Thanks

Answer:T400 with docking stations, ThinkPad Advanced Dock and ThinkPad Dock II

I have a T400 with integrated graphics and recently purchased the Advanced Mini Dock 250410U.  The Advanced Dock and Advanced Mini Dock support DVI pass-through.  I looked into this before purchasing as well. This page will confirm the feature:  http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-72148.  Also see reference guide for docking stations: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4TPJF4 which says ThinkPad Dock II is discontinued.  This brochure says the Advanced Mini Dock does not support Ultrabay, but the Advanced Dock does.  http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/options_iso/tp_docking_solutions_june09.pdf .

Hi, I use T430s + ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 with USB 3.0 ? 90W for quite a while. However, I always have a problem with the USB 3.0 port on the dock. I can connect a USB 3.0 HDD to this port and achieve 100MB of transfer speed. However, whenever I try to transfer large files like 4GB ISO file or using Windows Backup on my Windows 8/8.1, it will very soon fail and the USB 3.0 HDD will be disconnected. The large file transfer or backup never succeed.I can complete above tasks using T430s onboard USB 3.0 ports without any problem. It is just the USB 3.0 port on the dock that does not do the job. I contacted Lenovo Taiwan and they simply replace a new one for me.The problem persists with the new dock. Can anyone share some insights on this issue? Million thanks!

Mock me if you like, , but...  Figured I would share, so others might benefit? There are a few flavours of AC Power issue out there (some bad 170W Power Supplies, some Lenovo Battery Manager issues, etc.), but if you are greeted with the warning on your W520, and are using a true 170W Power Supply, stop and check the Power Supply plug connection IN to the dock. I know sounds ridiculous, but...  First, given the slotted construction of the 170W Power Supply connector, NEVER force anything!  But, once you've lined that up, are sure and slid it in to the dock, at that point, make SURE that it's really fully seated in to the connector!  PUSH it to ensure! I've been having the issue, and finally realized, on my setup, there is an extra "hump" you have to push the connector past. (How long have I had this machine?  FACEPALM!)  If you plug it in, it will work, but give errors and be problematic on charging.  Once you FULLY plug it in, that problem goes away. I think it's a function of the middle pin not being fully and properly seated - so a test was failing (making it think it was a 90W supply?). And a PS for folks: The original dock for the W520 was the "4338-30U (eSATA)", 170W. I can report that the "4338-35U (USB 3.0)", 170W DOES in fact work with the W520. Sadly (as I expected), no, you don't get another USB 3.0 port on the back of the dock.  It de-rates to a USB 2.0 port, but that port does work -... Hi, I'm interested in the new T520.I'm in Germany and the german shop offers 2 versions of the ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 (UK or Italy)Whats the difference between the UK and the Italy Version ? Both countrys have other power-plugs than we have in Germany. So which one is right for me? The description fir the Moni Dock Plus says: "Multiple video ports: 1 VGA monitor, 2 DVI, 2 DisplayPort (Note that the video controller allows for any two video ports to be used simultaneously)"Is that 2 ports in adition to the ThinkPad's display? Can I use 3 Screens (Thinkpad +  2 at the dock) or only 2 (any configuration). ThanksTino

Answer:ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 UK / Italy difference?

I think the difference would be in the power adapter plug type, but each should be compatible with your machine. The series 3 plus dock came in 3 flavours in general:1. 90 w adapter type2. 135 w adapter type (for the W510 machine and also compatible with machines used on the 90 w type).3. 170 w adapter type (for the W520 and compatible with the 135 watt and 90 watt adapter type machines). You can support 4 screens if your T520 came with Nvidia Optimus technology, in that case you can use the 1 vga, any 2 of the DVI/Displayport, and one internal LCD (or displayport on the laptop). If you get the intel version, then you only support 2 external LCD, or one external LCD with one internal LCD.

Answer:Why thinkpad x230 tablet without windows 8 installed from the factory? What is the real reason?

To be a windows 8 certified device with touch screen feature, it has to have at least 5 points touch. The X220t and X230t uses a 2 point touch screen, so they do not meet the minimum requirement for Windows 8.

[email protected], i use a T61 (8892-79G) and a advanced mini dock together with a two screen setup and everytime i undock from the advanced minidock the laptop LCD turns on, is OK for about 5-10 seconds and then the backlight turns off. when i try to reactivate it with the FN shortcuts it comes back again for 2-3secs and then it goes again... i am using an up-to-date windows 2000 with the latest lenovo drivers - and i am slowly getting mad with it...when i place the laptop back into the dock the backlight is stable on again... (and so it is if i never place it in the dock - no problems in this cases) anyone has a clue for me how to solve this behaviour? edith: i think i found the solution, killing/deactivating the nvidia driver helper service fixes this behaviour... Message Edited by Indigo on 07-07-2008 10:28 PM

I have a ThinkPad T510 (Windows 7 - 64 bit) paired with a ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 (US/Canada/LA).  Occasionally, I will lose connectivity with my external mouse and keyboard that are connected to the dock.  Sometimes, connectivity is restored automatically.  Other times, I am forced to restart the machine by actually opening laptop and using the on-board keyboard and touchpad.   I cannot find any updated drivers for the dock for Windows 7.   My other ThinkPad (T61p - Windows 7 32 bit) does not encounter the same problems with its ThinkPad Mini Dock.

Answer:ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 USB Port Connectivity Problems

Did you find a solution for this problem ? I am running into the same problem. When I start in the morning I have to reboot the laptop 2 to 3 times before it recognises the USB mouse and keyboards connected to the mini dock. The same when I undock/dock the notebook. This only started 3 to 4 weeks ago. before it worked fine... USB devices directly connected to the notebook work fine - same configuration

I know it's just been released, but I was wondering if anyone could answer the following: Based on the page here: Dock Reference Guides The X220 works with the Mini Dock Plus Series 3. The reason I'm wondering is that I really would like the option of having two external displays when the laptop is docked (with the laptop display turned off), and it seems like this should work, but I can't find anything definitely whether or not the X220 can drive 2 external displays (the intel video card should be able to do it, but I'd like to know before pulling the trigger, as unfortunately, dual displays is sort of a requirement.) Does anyone know if this is doable?

Answer:Question about x220 compatibility with ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 - 90W

with dual external monitor configuration, your internal monitor will automatically shut off.

I just got a T430 and a Mini Dock from a refurbisher, and the dock won't physically attach to the laptop. From inspection, the latches don't fully insert into the holes on the laptop. I've tried messing aronud with it a bit but I can't get it to lock. With the dock plugged in, the computer light will come on if I press down on the dock. Anybody have any ideas what to do? Thanks,

What is hot vs. warm docking; and can ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3 (433710U) do it? I can't find any manuals with the product or online. Thank you,

Answer:Hot/Warm docking - ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3 (433710U)

Hello mate, Hot docking is when the ThinkPad is connected to the docking station when running. Warm docking is when the ThinkPad is connected to the station when on sleep. Yep you can do that with every docking station.

Just received a T430 on Monday and the DVI port on the dock does not work, VGA port is fine.  I'm running Win7 64 bit, 8 gigs of RAM.  I have installed the NVIDIA graphics driver 269.88.  I found this driver on the support page for this T430.  I'm not trying to run multiple monitors or anything like that.  I just want to be able to dock my laptop and use the DVI output.

Answer:T430 on ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3, no output on DVI port

Hi, pili189012

When you attempt to connect the DVI input, does anything happen? What model of monitor/TV are you trying to connect the DVI to? Finally, when the DVI cable is connected to the dock and to the external device, does anything change in the Screen Resolution screen? (To navigate here, right-click on the Desktop and select Screen Resolution from the list.) How many monitors are listed here?

Best,
Adam

Lenovo doesn't offer a disassembly instruction for the dock, since they are considered non user serviceable.

I've been having this issue sporadically, where my W520 will fail to enter suspend.  The screen goes dark, backlight goes off, but the fan continues to spin and the status lights remain lit.  I've tried leaving it for several minutes. After running `powercfg -energy` twice, once while docked and once while on disconnected and battery power, it appears to have narrowed down the culprit to the USB hub(s) in the docking station. There don't seem to be any special drivers available or required for this thing.  What else can I try?

Hey guys, Hello Lenovo Support! I was wondering, if I could use the ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3 (45N6678), which was originally shipped for T510, with my new W520 (4282W17)... I only need a DVI-out with 2560x1600dpi and a GBit LAN.So that is why I'm not with the official supported dock (0A90204).Furthermore the 0A90204 costs almost double of the 45N6678. Thanx,Soko

Answer:45N6678 ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3 fits for W520?

no you can't use it, you would need to use the mini dock series 3 170 watt, have a look here:http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/W-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/Dock-compatibility-table-for-W500-W510-W520/ta-...

The dvi out port itself doesn't support WQXGA, if you need the dual link support you would need an active displayport to dual link dvi adapter.

Hi - I'm updating the Intel Mgmt Engine Firmware on my X230 Tablet Thinkpad.  It got as far as 28% and has been hung for over an hour.  There is a big message that says "Warning:  Do not exit the process or power off the machine before the firemware up date process ends."  Any ideas on what I should do since it's hung at 28%? It is plugged into power, and I did run it from the C:\DRIVERS/WIN/ME directory. Thanks.

When my T520 is docked in a ThinkPad Mini Dock, I am unable to get the boot or bios displays to show on a DVI monitor attached to the Mini Dock.  During a normal boot with the ThinkPad docked and lid closed, I can "blindly" enter the Hard Drive password and the T520 will boot normally and Windows uses the DVI monitor just fine.  Going into the BIOS setup (T520 is docked but need to use the laptop screen) the Boot Display Device option only shows choices for "ThinkPad LCD" or "Analog (VGA)".  There is no "Digital 1" or "Digital 2" choice as mentioned by the help text.  My T520 is model 4239-CTO BIOS is level 1.21ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 is 4338-30U Thanks in advance for any tips on making this work.

Answer:T520 in ThinkPad Mini Dock does not show boot display DVI monitor

do you have the optimus nvidia model? if you do, then you have to switch to discrete only in the bios menu, to be able to see the boot up screen in your dvi attached screen.

I have an issue that is plaguing my ThinkPad X230 Tablet. I cannot afford to be without it for a week to send it into the depot and am not sure they will be able to replicate the issue even if I do. Two things are happening. Tablet is placed in the docking station. If I turn it on, it will lock up at the ThinkPad screen and never fully load Windows (Win 7 64-bit). If I take it out of the docking station, hard crash it, and then restart, it will start right up. I then wait for the Windows home screen and place back in the docking station. When I do this, TSM Resident immediately quits. This is recurrent.  The error message is: TSMResident has stopped working Problem signature:  Problem Event Name: APPCRASH  Application Name:         TSMResident.exe  Application Version:     6.32.0.0  Application Timestamp:              4f2235b0  Fault Module Name:    TSMResident.exe  Fault Module Version: 6.32.0.0  Fault Module Timestamp:          4f2235b0  Exception Code:             c0000005  Exception Offset:           0000471f  OS Version:      6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48  Locale ID:   &n... Hi,I have a x41 tablet. It died on me wouldn't power on... I just read about the discharging of laptops from one of the other post here and wish I had done that but... I opened up my laptop for fun instead.... Anyway... now I found and x41 notebook put my harddrive from x41tablet and it works perfectly. However, I don't have the tablet capabilities...  My question is if I gutted both the laptops... can I switch the notebook motherboard onto the tablet body ...??Do they share the same motherboard... Mind you  I don't know why my x41 tablet stopped working... it was overheating and the power input was almost melting into the laptop and fusing.... I don't know if I burned the power supply or something?? Thanks.

Have been happily running windows 10 - with dual monitors, but since a recent update, the system once re-docked will no longer re-detect that it using different monitors. Previously i could use it:1. Un-docked - at 1600 x 9002. then when i put it to sleep3. Then dock it and resumed:     it would     a) switch to 1920 x 1080, and     b) also detect and display on the second monitor - no intervention required. Now, it remains in it's prior "state" (it neither changes state nor outputs to the second monitor) - only outputting to the first external monitor - but at 1600 x 900. Thus since a recent change, it is not "re-detecting" the "change in state" on resume, ONLY when i now do a full restart. The update may have been a Windows update, but on the same day i also installed a Toshiba Dynadock - with dual display port support. I have used the Lenovo system update to update the driver - now it is at 10.18.10.4425 - and as the driver loaded the monitors re-detected, and corrected - but later the problem is persisting. Does anyone know how to force the driver to re-detect on resume not just on restart? Or is this a "consequence of doing things in a certain order" System:Lenovo T430s laptop -HD Graphics 4000  version 10.18.10.4425 (from Lenovo System Update)UPDATED: to 10.18.10.4653 - 7/4/2017with a Lenovo ThnikPad Usb 3.0 Pro Dock (dual HDMI/DVI ports)dual BenQ GL2450 monitors.
