Why dont all my Apps show on Chrome Webpage, when I press Apps at top

Question: Why dont all my Apps show on Chrome Webpage, when I press Apps at top

When I click Apps at top left in Chrome it brings up a page of just Googles own Apps.
Not ones I have installed too, including Pinterest, Videostream, Chromecast, Send by Email and more.
Should it not show all my Apps?
Wanted to add Videostream in particular.

Preferred Solution: Why dont all my Apps show on Chrome Webpage, when I press Apps at top

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

When I ciick on the new tab that shows apps three out of four apps I have selected are showing generic icons rather than the normal icons, also three out of the four are grey; they are as follows:-

1] Web Store-----------color
2] YouTube-------------grey
3] Google Search-----grey
4] Gmail-----------------grey

I have run the Chrome Cleaner, uninstalled/re-installed Chrome, deleted the app extension, reinstalled the app extension to no avail. Each time the grey icons appear and on the last go round they appeared as generic cubes. To boot the same condition applies to my other two computers. It seems when I install Chrome each time this condition manifests itself no matter where I install it; it's like it's locked in to any install on any machine be it laptop or desktop, like I inherit it. I was given these instructions but am unclear on exactly what they mean and how to go about doing it and that is to remove the following.

CHR NewTab: Default -> "chrome-extension://nohbdifokmdgjcbbeobglcbaifinhfip/go.html" (don't know how to apply this or where it is)

I have gone to the C:\Users\Trixie\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Extensions\nohbdifokmdgjcbbeobglcbaifinhfip and removed it.

I have posted in Chrome forums only to receive one response that didn't help they gave me the boiler plate ''check for malware' and just recently ran the FRST here on BleepingComputer (thanks nasdaq)

I installed many apps locker they all work fine but I can still access apps from the all apps list.

Answer:My apps locker work fine but apps can be accessed from the all apps list, how can I prevent this?

Yes. There is no such thing as a real app locker app in Windows Phones. This is because third party apps are not allowed to interact or interfere with other third party apps due to Windows Phone Sandboxing technology.
If the developer was careful with his app, he or she would have indicated the limitations of the "app locker" he created in the app description. Otherwise, if there is no such disclaimer about the limitations of the app in the app description, the user is encouraged to report the app to Microsoft as a fraudulent or misleading app.

Hello to everyone,

I have very annoying problem with Windows 8. The problem is in metro control panel "PC Settings".
I don't know what is the reason for removing all apps control in the Notifications menu.

I had this problem so many times and the only fix for this that I know - is to create a new microsoft account or to do clean install (which I don't like to try those suggestions anymore).

Any other solution mates?

Answer:"Show notifications from these apps" error, no apps listed

Hello, minomk. Welcome to Windows EightForums.

Not sure why you have to create a new microsoft account or to do clean install. Apps can notify a user when new content arrives. Not quite sure what your problem is. Do you want to shut notifications off for all your apps? Perhaps particular apps?

Push "Show notifications from these apps" to pick on/off individually.

I hope that helps you.

Random apps are not showing up in the "All Apps" section of the Start Menu after installing a clean version of Windows 10 (not an upgrade), and re-installing all my favorite software, In other words, finding a launcher to countless programs now means visiting "C:/Program Files/WhateverRandomSoftware/launcher.exe." Well, that;'s no fun.

Is there any better way to do this. Anyone know of a fix or have others experienced this problem?

Last night my Lumia 925 randomly locked up (which it seems to do quite often) so I did a soft reset and then noticed a bunch of problems.
First I noticed a bunch of my app tiles were blank or only displaying the app name. That happens from time to time when apps are updated or decide to lose track of the day. So I tried to go in and refresh them. But a lot of them wouldn't open. Others will open but crash immediately, and others still will open and display their info but won't update their live tiles. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling some of them but it has had no effect.
In addition to apps not behaving, various settings windows won't open. I thought maybe my phone updated and the update was buggy, but I can't check because Extras+Info crashes before opening.
Also, in my app list the first 4 apps are things I did not install, and don't look normal. @{Miscrosoft.BingTranslate, @{Microsoft.MSBatterySaver, @{Microsoft.MSCalendar, and @{Microsoft.MSPodcast. Pretty sure none of those are supposed to be displaying that way.
I didn't attempt to install anything. I've been running 8.1. I don't know if there was an update pushed out last night that I didn't notice installing.
But my phone isn't working and I am frustrated.
Anyone know what's wrong or have suggestions?

Hey Everyone,

Any time that I press a key on my keyboard in game, it completely crashes the game (sometimes with an error and sometimes without). This happens with about 75% of my games, so this is definitely a hardware issue. For example, I'll load up a game, and when I go to type in my login information, the game crashes (i.e. Torchlight 2). Or if I get into a game and press the "e" key to access an item, my game crashes (i.e. Borderlands 2). This does not happen with games like WoW or Arma III, but does for most of my games.

I have tried using a different USB connector and a different keyboard altogether, but to no avail. Has anyone ever come across this type of issue?

I use a nVidia GTX 660 video card, Windows 7

some applications (many actually) rely sorely on the .exe file that runs them.Small games such as you have mentioned fall into this category,Only run when executed.

Finally, could you describe how they don't run? What happens when you try?

Hello,
Please download Zemana AntiMalware and save it to your Desktop.

Install the program and once the installation is complete it will start automatically.
Without changing any options, press Scan to begin.
After the short scan is finished, if threats are detected press Next to remove them.
Note: If restart is required to finish the cleaning process, you should click Reboot. If reboot isn't required, please restart your computer manually.
Open Zemana AntiMalware again.
Click on icon and double click the latest report.
Now click File > Save As and choose your Desktop before pressing Save.
The only left thing is to attach saved report in your next message.

I recently bought a Lenovo laptop that came preloaded with the usual bloatware. The only thing that caught my eye was Phone Companion. Apparently it allows you to send texts and make phone calls from you laptop and they go through your phone. It sounded kind of neat, even if I never used it.
So I started the app and the first thing it says is "Scan this QR code with your Android device to download the companion app!". It was like "what? No WP"? Just in case, I scanned the QR code anyway and of course the app doesn't exist in the Windows Phone store.
Is it strange of me to think that a Windows 8 app would have a WP companion app instead of just Android? Am I being unrealistic? I can see a normal Windows application being specific to the more popular mobile devices, but a Windows 8 app just feels like it is meant to go with Windows Phone. They share a design philosophy and language. Its like if there was a Kinect game that said "Now show your Android phone to Kinect to get started".
Is this what we can expect with Windows 10? PC/Phone combo apps that I cant run without an iPhone or Android?

Hi, found this, but just shows reinstalling doesn't solve it (MVP solution).
Taskbar icons of universal apps not - Microsoft Community

Besides which, the powershell command breaks apps since build 10586 in November - I've not seen anything to show any updates have corrected that.

So....
My immediate reaction, given you've had this problem a long time is to suggest

a. Create a full disk image (defensive backup) as the next step is major (but should be safe).
(Everyone should use disk imaging and update the image anyway - so much safer and really fast with SSD and USB3)
b. Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade - Windows 10 Forums

The in-place repair
- leaves all your programs and most settings in place
- reverts your build to 10580 ('cos that's the version of the iso)
- turns off system restore
- creates Windows.old
- means subsequent Win updates need redoing

So I recently 'upgraded' to the very app-centric windows 8 and snagged a great Aspire U touchscreen all in one I thought would be optimal with it. Every app works outstandingly but I can't seem to get a normal browser like IE Firefox or Chrome to work for beans. I might get a homepage after 45 mins but forget actually accomplishing anything. I swore the browser worked the first day I got it?

Any thoughts?

For what it's worth, It's a dual boot XP/Vista, vista being upgraded over a clone of a clone. The upgrade was smooth but took 8 hours and a few

Can you watch videos in your browser? It might just be an out of date app on your machine that was carried over in the upgrade.

There are some comments on the Netflix app saying they had issues after upgrading to Win10, others say it works great.

Try updating the app(s) - you might have to uninstall / reinstall the app(s) if a simple reinstall doesn't help.

Other than that, report the issue to the publisher and then wait for an update from them (through the MS app store)

The third and final version of the Microsoft Press ebook - Creating Mobile Apps with Xamarin.Forms: Cross-platform C# programming for iOS, Android, and Windows by the legendary author Charles Petzold is now available for download. Download PDF (~56 MB PDF)
EPUB and MOBI versions will be made available in the future. Who should read this book:
This is the third version of the ebook about writing applications with Xamarin.Forms, the mobile development platform for iOS, Android, and Windows unveiled by Xamarin in May 2014. (The first two versions of this book were Preview Editions.) The two previous versions of this book were called Preview Editions because they were not complete. At 1200 pages, this is the first edition that can claim to be complete, even though several topics are not included and Xamarin.Forms continues to be progressively enhanced with no sign of slowing down.
This book is for C# programmers who want to write applications using a single code base that targets the three most popular mobile platforms: iOS, Android, and Windows, encompassing the Universal Windows Platform and Windows Phone.
Xamarin.Forms also has applicability for those programmers who eventually want to use C# and the Xamarin.iOS and Xamarin.Android libraries to target the native application programming interfaces (APIs) of these platforms. I have been getting a "Error 310 (net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS): There were too many redirects." since well over a year now. the problem had ceased for a few days but has reappeared again.
When I try to log into any google app (gmail included), I get the error on all browsers, all operating systems and all over the world (tried in India, Saudi Arabia, various cities). I have searched the web but none of the solutions are working for me.

I usually sort of get around the error in the following manner:
1. I try to log in, get error
2. I open a new tab with a different google app (like Google Reader or Calendar), that app loads, i then re-open gmail.........but this only works if both the tabs are different, for example, lets say i try opening Gmail in the second tab too, i cant

But the problem with this is when i have to re-enter my credentials, for example, when i am already logged into google, then log into Feedburner, where it asks my password again, i enter it, get the error, cant get through, totally stuck........i am only able to log-in when it doesnt ask me to re-enter my credentials............PS. I also get stuck at Account Settings page because of this, when I change an important setting, it asks me to confirm it by re-entering my password, i cant

I just installed windows 7 from a student download page. The burn was good and the md5sums matched up so I'm don't believe that can be the problem.

What happens when I launch, say internet explorer, it will think for a good 5 seconds and then do nothing. Open the task manager and there are no programs running, okay. But if I look under processes there is iexplorer.exe running. If I try again, now two are running. I can do this as often as I like. Then other programs open fine such as explorer or any of the games, there doesn't seem to be a pattern.

The only thing I can think of is it all worked fine on the first run and then I installed audio drivers (asus xonar stx) then upon reboot this started but I'm skeptical as to how that could cause anything.

Answer:Windows 7 apps load but don't show

Since it is a brand new install, I'd probably just wipe the drive and start over. It would probably be quicker than trying to track down a solution or a fix. The good news is, this is why you get 30 days before you should put in the key and try to activate!

Is there a awy to make it so Windows 8.1 does not show any of the Modern Apps in the taskbar?

For instance, I like to keep NotePad8, Weather and some others running, but I don't want them taking up Taskbar realestate since (as far as I'm aware at least), those Modern apps will remain open until I close them for good by moving to the upper left part of the screen.

So, if anyone knows of any methods I could try to do this, I would be all ears! I suspect there's probably something I could do in the registry, and if there is, maybe someone could attach a .reg file for me.

I'm also attaching a screencap of what I'm talking about.

Answer:Where Are My Chrome Apps

In ">>" those are typically bookmarks, at least in my experience.

What you can do is right click on your bookmark or any other toolbar, then click "Show App shortcut"

OR

Go to chrome://apps/

OR

Download Chrome App Launcher and you can have the app launcher pinned to your start toolbar or an icon on your desktop

I think you can get to them also from the New Tab window as well.

I'm running Vista x64.. After awhile, say a week.. or maybe just 1 day.. frequently when i have say 4 explorer windows opened and grouped in the task bar.. I can click on the group, but attempts to click on an individual explorer session fail.. its not just explorer's that have been minimized, pretty much anything that has more than 1 item (grouped) wont let you click on any of the items.

Only fix is a reboot.

Looking to do the following on Windows 8.1 Enterprise (joined to domain)
1) stop the "hi", "we're setting things up for you", "setting up apps" messages. Trying to deploy hundreds of tablets and first logon for each user to the tablets is SLOWWWW because 8.1 is taking all this time to setup apps
we don't want and will never use. example (weather, people, skydrive, photos, maps, reading list, etc)
2) if no way to stop the messages mentioned above, is there a way to set via group policy or other tweaks/modifications to not even install those default apps in (1)??

Answer:8.1 Enterprise : dont install default apps, speed up first logon on domain?

Hi,
You can try to remove the built-in Windows 8.1 applications when creating a Windows 8.1 image, then deploy Windows 8.1.

I'm not sure what happened. I've always left this setting on. Just recently I noticed my 'most used' programs in the Start Menu was no longer showing. I went into the settings and saw that the toggle was greyed out.

Any idea how to get the toggle back? Beforehand, I think I was going through the settings in Cortana trying to turn everything off.

Answer:'Show most used apps' toggle in Settings is greyed out

I re-installed Windows about 2 weeks ago and have been having this issue since then. Some apps show up when I search for them in the win10 start menu. Some apps don't. I have Program Files and Program Files (x86) selected under Indexing Options from Control Panel. Index is fully completed.

Examples of apps that don't show up:
- Virtualbox
- Plex
- League of Legends
- Battle.net launcher
- Overwatch
- Origin

Apps that do show up:
- Chrome
- Steam
- Malwarebytes
- 7zip

I tried re-indexing last night. It did not solve the problem.

Does anyone have a solution?

Answer:Some installed apps don't show in search for Win10

Hi, I can't give you an immediate solution.
Do the programs you can't find by searching actually appear when you view the start menu?
Are their shortcuts present in
C:\Users\<your user id>\AppData\Roaming
or
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu
?

Is there a difference if you install a program just for you as the user, compared with for all users?

See e.g. these threads for ideas:

Hello,

I don't understand this, so apparently there are to ways to view info from certain apps on the Lock Screen but there are bugs that don't make it work:

1. A Detailed status; selecting the Mail app as for the detailed status doesn't show anything at all. All other apps shown in a detailed status work fine. When viewing the Lockscreen I can see that the Internet connection status in the right below corner has a circle in front of it.

2. A Quick status: NONE of my apps show any info (Mail, Weather, Calendar, messages) when I select them to show a quick status on my Lockscreen.

The Lockscreen I'm checking out is the one you get when pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete and then choosing the "Lock" option.

What's the problem here and how can I solve this?

Answer:Apps don't show info on Lock screen

Could this be moved to the General discussion since it's about the general Apps that come with Windows 10? Thank you.

Hi All,

This is becoming INCREDIBLY Frustrating - I have been downloading Apps from the "store" and everytime I install a new one, it never shows up on the actual start screen. When I search for the app, click it and choose "Pin", it still does NOT show up on the Start screen.

How frustrating - can't seem to find anything online that helps me resolve this. Has anyone seen this before? Is there a setting somewhere that locks what can/cant be added to the start screen?

Thanks,
Craig

I only have a few examples of this, but Mozilla firefox is a big one. I am currently typing this forum post in the application, while at the same time I have the task manager up on the app history tab. Firefox is no where to be seen. I think the only apps that show up there, are Metro apps... Is this true, and if it is, is there a way around it?

Answer:Why don't some apps show up in Task manager, app history?

I see it under processes, but not under app history.. I am guess that is because it is not a metro app..

Hi everybody,New to Lenovo, have a sily question. Purchased secondhand Lenovo x250, after registration with Microsoft as the notebook asked (previous owner deleted everything and cleaned, put back to a factory status) but after shut down and turning on again a rainbow colored picture shows , with date and time on it, but it wont change no matter what key I press. It would disappear shortly, showing a display of "Please wait" , but after that the previous colored display would show up again. So there is nothing happening. No apps nothing. Any idea what I should do? Thanks a lot.

It has been a while, since you posted your question. I waited, with the hope that a better solution would come along, so that I could learn and it would help you, this does not seem to be the case. This is what I suggest.

would use CCleaner found HERE. Simply download CCleaner, install, Right-click on the CCleaner icon, Select "Run as Administrator", select "Tools" (left side - center), and a list of installed programs should appear.

Typically, CCleaner lists more installed programs than Windows Uninstall Programs does.

Hope it helps

Hi guys/gals, I am very experienced systems administrator and have run into a very perplexing issue.

I have many media files that work fine when accessed via Windows Explorer (they show up fine, display fine, play in their requisite application fine), but if I try to add (index) them to an application such as Windows Media Player, Zune, WinAmp, or even WASTE (an encrypted file sharing app) some of the files do not show up.

Salient points:
• I am adding the top level directory (e.g. d:\music or d:\video)
• The problem DOES NOT occur when I add the problematic files/directories explicitly (e.g. d:\music\%artist%\%album%)
• The problem does not appear to be a file path length issue (some longer paths work, some shorter ones do not)
• I cannot find a correlation amongst the files that do not show up
• The problem persists across HDDs (I have tried 3)
• The problem persists across operations systems (I have tried XP SP3 and Vista SP1)
• The problem doesn't appear to be permissions related (I have reset them several times)
• I have turned off indexing on the hard drives as I thought that may be part and parcel of the problem but it did not affect the problem

Originally I thought this affected many file types but it does appear to affect only mp3s, but I cannot find a common issue with the ones that aren't working.

Anyway, any suggestions would be welcome and appreciated. Thanks for readin... Read more

I finally managed to fix this..from a command prompt.

Google Android Security: Shielding you from Potentially Harmful Applications
Earlier this month, we shared an overview of the ways we keep you safe, on Google and on the web, more broadly. Today, we wanted to specifically focus on one element of Android security?Potentially Harmful Applications?highlighting fraudsters? common tactics, and how we shield you from these threats.

?Potentially Harmful Applications,? or PHAs, are Android applications that could harm you or your device, or do something unintended with the data on your device. Some examples of PHA badness include:

Backdoors: Apps that let hackers control your device, giving them unauthorized access to your data.

Billing fraud: Apps that charge you in an intentionally misleading way, like premium SMS scams or call scams.

Spyware: Apps that collect personal information from your device without consent

Hostile Downloads: Apps that download harmful programs, often through bundling with another program

'Move installed apps' and 'New apps will save to' setting is greyed out for me, after upgrading to Windows 10. Anyone else seeing the same way?
There was a way to Move Windows 10 Apps to Other Drive and Change Install Location.

Answer:Move installed apps & New apps will save to settings greyed out - Windows 10

It appears that this decision has been postponed by Microsoft:

We have actually made the decision to postpone the apps on SD functionality to a later release. While I know this feature excited many of us, we didn't feel like it was ready for prime time. Our goal is to delight users with everything that we build, and we truly feel that that is what will happen once we have fully built our vision for this feature.

Hi,

As the post title suggests, I am having trouble with the modern apps and connectivity. It feels like half my computer will connect to the internet, and the other half won't. Desktop apps like Chrome, Steam, Outlook, iTunes etc. all connect to the internet fine, but any of the Windows apps like Xbox, Store and (most frustratingly) Settings will not connect.

In my network and sharing centre in the control panel it says 'You are not connected to any networks' - but in the system tray, and in the settings app it shows me as connected to my home wi-fi. I am on a desktop, and using a USB wireless adapter. I don't think the adapter is the problem as I have tried it on another desktop in our house on Windows 10 and it worked fine. Curiously also, when I click 'Adapter settings' in the control panel, it shows the wifi connection.

I've tried updating the drivers for the wireless adapter, both through the Windows update and adapter website but to no avail (and as I mentioned, it seems the adapter works fine elsewhere). I've updated manually to the latest Windows 10 Pro build, i've done a DNS flush, I've tried disabling firewalls and anti-virus, I've tried disabling startup apps, I've done a clean install of Windows 10 and still am unable to fix the issue.

If anyone has any ideas that might help that would be great. I'm happy to provide any more information if people need it.

Thanks very much.

if you simple check the Whatsapp it is double in size than the apps in Andriod store.
is not this a issue. it is eating too much of internal memory

Answer:Why are Windows Phone apps larger in size as compared to Andriod apps?

If true, then the app will occupy more space in storage (internal or SD card). There is however no direct relationship between file size and RAM usage. You can't tell, just by looking at file size, how much memory will be required.

On the iPhone, everything that matters lives inside the OS. On Android, it's split between the OS and Play Services.

As well as providing APIs that let developers interact with Google services, and porting many features back to older versions of Android, Play Services has an important role in Android security.

The "Verify Apps" feature of Play Services is Google's firewall against app-based malware. It was introduced in 2012, and first enabled by default in Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. At the time of writing, 92.4% of active Android devices are running version 4.2 and up, and older versions can manually enable it in the Google Settings app.

Verify Apps works similarly to a traditional PC virus scanner:
Whenever the user installs an app, Verify Apps looks for malicious code and known exploits. If they're there, the app are blocked outright ? a message is displayed saying "Installation has been blocked." In other, less suspicious cases, a warning message may be displayed instead, with the option to install anyway. (And Verify Apps can also help remove known malware that's already been installed.)

While the underlying exploit may still be there, this makes it impossible for the bad guy... Read more

hi i want to know if i remove my all apps and games to m.card and than hard reset the phone... will i able to get all my stuff back from m.card or not... plz help me...

Answer:apps remain safe if i remove all of my apps and games to memory card and then hard reset my phone...

In short, No.you will not.
You will not get data back for games and apps that do not utilise onedrive for cloud save.
Any game or app that is discontinued from the store will not restore as all games and app re-install directly from the store - not from your back up. Even if you have apps and games on your SD card, they most likely will be over written during the re-install process.
To restore, once the phone has finished and rebooted, when prompted log in with the same account that you used previously when you set up your phone.
I hope this clarifies how the back up system works

Hi there

If you want to pin Metro apps / standard apps to desktop / create a custom toolbar with these as CASACADABLE items it's fairly simple.

I made a post way back in W8.1 about this --method still works - no reg hacks, XAML knowledge etc needed.

http://www.eightforums.com/general-s...tml#post390324

If you want your OWN icons use this little FREE program (ICOFX) to create the .ico files.

http://filehippo.com/download_icofx/6890/
While the ALL apps idea in the previous thread is a good idea I like the idea of customising it een more -- I find the custom toolbar best for me with a few pgms pinned to desktop and quick launch taskbar.

Checked for OS updates, but is of no use.
Any solution, please help out

Answer:Why the apps doesn't work when the apps are moved to SD card in lumia 535?

Did you make a soft reset? Just press volume down + power button for 10 seconds and it will reboot.
Another option you have is install the apps manually, via .xap files
If anything else fails maybe a hard reset is needed but that would erase everything in your phone.

Hey everyone ?
I came with a bit of weird thought I dunno if I was right or wrong , I like the universal app thing and it is really amazing to have the very same app run on both my phone and laptop , this idea is really compelling and good for developers for easier developing and wider audience , but if you take another look , wouldn't that be bad for some certain developers or companies ?
Take WhatsApp for example , it hadn't ever made an app for PC did it ? But with windows 10 it MUST make that app bcos it will run on the PC , am I wrong ? The same story goes for other apps like snapchat , and less common apps like bitstrips (makes cartoonish comics of yourself and share on facebook and twitter) , so what do you think ??

Hi there.

I had a problem recently with an updated version of VLC on Amazon fire TV -- was really bad compared with previous version -- especially if you like / use subtitles as the feature to load the subtitle from an external file when playing your own media has GONE !!!! (Android version 2.1.1)

I've long complained about not being able to restore previous versions of Android apps after a hideous update - a lot of app updates seem to be WORSE than the earlier versions -- VLC is a good example of this -- note the PC version is still EXCELLENT !!!

Anyway two ways now

1) store / keep the old apk file on your computer and then with a cli between computer and the target device you can install the old version directly via the CLI.

2) to install from Phone to Amazon fire stick / TV directly follow this guide

How to Sideload Android Apps onto Your Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick

I managed to re-install prev version of VLC on to my Fire TV by uninstalling the version on the Fire TV and then following the guide.

BTW for a LAN / Home use it's a lot easier using VLC (on the fire stick - you don't have to do anything with VLC on your computer - you don't even have to start it or even install it) to play your multi media - it will browse your LAN etc. Saves setting up things like PLEX which while fine are a bit overkill and PLEX transcodes things like HEVC H265 codecs which can load your server and cause stuttering playback or even freezes if a few people are w... Microsoft all apps are on Android But why Google chrome and all Google apps are not on Windows Phone? Please bring all Google apps on Windows phone.

Answer:Microsoft all apps are on Android But why Goolgle apps on Windows Phone?

The simplest way to put this is: Microsoft is a nice company. Google isn't.

I was given a Windows 8.1 tablet that once had a detachable keyboard which the guy lost. he reset the whole computer and after I got my information on it instead. After the reset, Windows was no longer activated and I had to reactivate it. which neither of us knows why, it was activated before we did a data factory reset. after I created my user, I installed a bunch of exes. now I go to try to see if I could test out the Windows Store to search for apps. but I search "Windows Store" or "app store" and several other things that may bring it up, but it always says, "no apps match your search" like if the Windows store is missing or somehow magically removed with the reset process. How do I get it back?

Hi,

I've been struggling with this problem for a few days now. The problem is that I do NOT have internet access for firefox/chrome/dropbox/etc but i DO have internet access for IE and certain OS apps (like Network Troubleshooter). I've read and tried most of the typical solutions with no avail.

What I've Tried:
Safemode with Networking - same situation, I can use IE but not Firefox/Chrome/etc
Reseting Winsock (netsh winsock reset, etc) - didn't work, possibly just made matters worse?
Flushing DNS (ipconfig /flushdns, etc)
I do NOT have a special proxy, and neither firefox, nor chrome, nor IE are trying to use one
I have added exceptions in Windows Firewall, then just straight up disabled the firewall
I have Avira antivirus, but it does not contain any firewall features and no place that I can see to add any such exception
LSP-Fix.exe (I tried to fix the LSP registery, it found 1 problem from leftover Bonjour dll, and I've repaired it but its changed nothing)
I ran quick-scan on malwarebytes - found nothing
I ran checkdisk and found no errors
I have no system restore point
Also, with firefox, I hve tried it in safe-mode and created a new profile, but that hasn't changed anything. When I try to make a connection with firebug open, it says the request was "aborted"

Because native Microsoft software (IE, OS software) has no problem connecting to the internet, I'm just trying to figure out what bridge was burned between firefox/ch... Read more

Answer:Solved: Internet works for IE and OS apps, NOT for firefox or 3rd party apps

Ok, so literally nothing was working - I did a "Repair Install" using my windows 7 cd. It took 2 hours, but when it finished up all of my networking was working So, for those of you who are having similar issues, as a last resort I'd give that a shot. Definitely read a few articles about what is required to successfully perform a Repair Install, as you don't want anything going wrong during that process.

When I attempt to shutdown or restart my pc I receive a message stating that there are still apps/processes still running. The number of apps running usually runs between 16-20 apps/processes. However, there are never any applications or programs running before I decide to shutdown. The names of the "apps" appear to be names of background processes. I have tried many things, but cannot seem to solve this problem.

Hi there,

I am experiencing the following problem for a week now (no new software) and cannot find a solution:

Sometimes (not every bootup) when I rightcklick on a file in an explorer window and the desktop, it takes about 30s for the context menue to appear. This happens with any file symbol, it does not happen with folder icons or the recycle bin. At the same time Office does not start either. Funny enough, these two issues dont not happen at every bootup, only in about 2/3 of the cases, but always together.

I have tried to work on the shell commands with 'shmnview' - no result (context menue still does not appear after disabling all possible commands).
Targa Notebook (GER brand)
AMD Turion 64 Mobile @1.8 GHz
1 GBRam (2x512)
Win XP Home, SP 3
Office XP (2002) Pro with Frontpage

These are the programs that I have in my autostart:
- Notebook Hardware Control
- Zone Alarm
- Avira AntiVir

Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot,
Max

When using the Start Menu to search something that has been uninstalled, it still shows up there. It does nothing when pressed, and right-clicking doesn't work, even after reinstalling the app.

The apps are present for all users.

I tried searching for the links in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs and %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs, but didn't find anything.

I also deleted the search index and disabled the indexation service; it had no effect.

As a last resort, I tried nuking every path/key that contained the application's name in the registry. I thought I was onto something when I found multiple infracting apps under a certain key, but deleting them proved useless (also, I'm sorry I can't find the key's name; it was something of a non-UWP app listing for the start menu, specifically).

I missed listing CCleaner, but I did run it.

I did reboot multiple times after trying each method, but it's always still there. The issue is, even when Skype is installed and there is a proper link in the Programs folder, if I press the Windows key and type Skype, the search result simply doesn't start it. Only if I manually scroll down to the Skype folder in the start menu and use the link inside it I can get it to start. I also can't right click it.

Answer:Remove uninstalled apps that show up on Windows Search

Can you clarify- when you say apps, do you mean universal apps like MS's Photos, Groove etc, or traditionally installed desktop programs?

The former do not use the registry, exe's or dlls, the latter do.

You mention Skype - there is both a Skype universal app and a Skype desktop program. To which are you referring?

How are you uninstalling these programs? From the Start menu, rt click the shortcut, click Uninstall?

Is there any way to add app on show notification from these apps in settings? Seems like each user has a different list of their apps in there. I dont have Cortana, money, etc.

Answer:No cortana, money, etc. on Show notification from these apps section.

You only get an app on notification settings, when you actually get a notification from them. it's the same as Windows Phone, you don't get anything on action center, until you get notifications from it and then you can disable them and change settings.
I wish there was a way to delete them easily, without any hack on registry as it must be (haven't really tried to find a way). because I have 4 autodesk download manager, when I minimized them on each installation I have made, and it told me it was minimized.

Hi everyone,

I'm having a relatively annoying problem which I think should never happen in a good operating system. As the title already tells, the cortana search box does not display proper icon for all the metro apps or the modern settings as can be seen from the attached image. Moreover, Windows Explorer also does not display thumbnails for images which is extremely inconvenient if you want to select some images. This issue only occurs recently and there is no sign that it will just suddenly disappear any time soon.

I'm using a domain account from my company with administrative rights. On the local account that I created myself everything works absolutely fine. So, I wonder if it is the domain account that causes trouble. I've tried every solution I could find on the Internet without success.

I would be very helpful if you guys can help me solve the problem

I have searched far and wide over google, But I cannot find the solution to this issue. I even opened the help document for windows and even it tells me to go to Taskbar and Navigation to show metro apps on the taskbar. Well this is what it looks like for me:

Apparently there's supposed to be a checkbox that reads "Show store apps on taskbar" but that isn't there! I have a version of Windows 8.1 that doesn't have this option. Any help? I really liked this feature. This worked for me until I installed a fresh installation of Windows 8.1.

Answer:Option to show metro apps in taskbar missing

Hello Enitoni, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Did you install the Windows 8.1 Update yet?

That option is only available after the Windows 8.1 Update has been installed via Windows Update.

Answer:Windows 8 taskbar issue (Apps wont show)

Some programs open with Hidden Icons. You can fix it by going to Hidden Icons / Customize / and choose Show Icon and Notifications.
