Preferred Solution: Keyboard not working on Lenovo Laptop.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a Lenovo Laptop IdeaPad, and I spilled water on the arrow keys yesterday. Now only about 10 keys on the entire laptop work, so I was wondering if there was anyway of fixing this without having to go out and buy a new keyboard, or if I should just replace the keyboard entirely? Thanks.

Answer:Lenovo Laptop Keyboard Not Working

If water was spilled on or in the keyboard theres not much that can be fixed on it. it will have to be replaced and checked out to make sure nothing else got damaged by the water such as the motherboard etc.

Hi there. I'm experiencing problems with a Lenovo Laptop. I cannot log into Windows because the keyboard is not functioning as normal. The 'H' button is operating as a backspace for example and because I cannot see what I'm typing in the password bar, I don't know which keys are what. Only some keys produce characters and when typing other keys the system just beeps. I had this problem yesterday and I fixed it by holding the FN button and F4 or F7, I think it was F7 but now the same combination isn't working. If you could help me it'd be great. Cheers.

Hello there all, I hope you are having a nice day/night while reading my post  Recently Im having a quite uncomfortable problem with my Lenovo. As the title says, it stops running, to be honest, mostly when playing League of Legends. Very rarely while doing other things, like surfing on the web, perhaps more often when playing other games than League It's hard for me to figure up, why does it happen. My laptot is fairly new (4-5 months), and it has not been damaged or awashed by water And there we go to the second problem, which is connecting with WiFi. It just randomly does not show any will to connect with web spots. Sometimes, it works just fine. I installed WiFi/Router drivers, and it hasn't got any better The third, and the last problem is, that my headphones sometimes don't run. Rather randomly, when I plug them in, or when I turn on the computer while they are already plugged If anyone can help me with any of these problems above, I will be very grateful My operating system is Windows 10

Hi everyone, I bought this laptop about 3 months ago and I'm loving it so far. But every so often the keyboard would just stop working and when I try shutting it off, it would go through the entire shutting off process and the screen goes black but all the lights and fan would still be on. I am then forced to hold the power button down to force it off. When I restart the computer instead, it would take me to the blue screen where it would say "Windows has ran into an unexpected error" then the screen would turn black again and everything else would be on. Anyone have any idea or solution to what's going on? Thanks in advnace!

HiI bought my z580 a couple of months back and within a few days shift key started working as if it was continuously pressed. After contacting lenovo service the keyboard was replaced after a long delay. Now one month later i am again facing a similar problem that too in the new keyboard. This time instead of shift key fullstop key is working without being pressed. Frankly speaking i am getting fed up with the quality of customer service lenovo provides. Apoorv Agrawal

Hi to all...I've lenovo g560 laptop whose keyboard is not working properly. Now, a replacement laptop keyboard for lenovo g570 is available at local market. So, will it be compatible with my lenovo g560..Thanks in advance

Answer:Is lenovo g570 laptop keyboard compatible with lenovo g560's keyboard

hi hamzaali52,

Welcome to the Forums.

Looking at the keyboard part numbers for the G560 (see page 79-80 of the HMM) and the G570 (see page 79-83 of the HMM), there are no matching part numbers between the two models, thus, the keyboard may fit but it may not work due to a whitelist of compatible parts or due to a different keyboard ribbon/cable layout.

I recommend you stick to the part numbers listed on the HMM (Hardware Maintenance Manual) for best compatibility.

I had a problem with my laptop which is certain key on my keyboard is not functioning. The weird is, it happened without a reason. because after I shutdown doing my work when I turn it on again, I discovered my "s", "d", "g", "h", "\", "m", " left shift", "caps lock" and "~" key did not work at all. I try taking the key off, cleaning underneath, but nothing seems to be working. After that I try to use usb keyboard and it seems the key can be entered. So I thought my hardware is the problem. than I replace into the new one, but still having the same problem. I already waste my money buying new keyboard. Does any one happen to know what sort of problem this is and how I would go about fixing it? Is it related to the registry. My laptop is Acer aspire 4740G, ram 4GB, processor i3 2.4GHz. I hope someone can help me to solve this problem.

My warranty has lapsed so I am thinking if I can fix it myself with ur help...  Thanks in advance

Answer:Lenovo Keyboard not working...

if you have valid warranty, ask lenovo to change it for free.if you don't, learn the keymord module model, search the web ( ebay ) and if you find, you can replace by yourself or contact local computer services for this issue. ( if you are sure keyboard is dead )

My grandmother was in the middle of typing an email. When she hit the shift key to make a capital letter, a box about sticky keys came up, and now neither keyboard will work. She has restarted the computer, unplugged/re-plugged in the auxilary keyboard, (before, even with the auxilary keyboard plugged in, she could still use the laptop keyboard), pressing the scroll lock key didn't do anyting either.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Hello.I am facing problem and I am kindly asking this forum some help. The letter A not working on my keyboard. All others are working. Windows 8.1 single language is my S.O.I currently have Windows updates being approved.I have a paid firewall software/antispam.  This is a headache. I used then the  virtual keyboard to solve some situations where none keyboard was closely available but it is workaround solution and does not help for logon/login.I am right now using an external keyboard to write this kindly request to the community.Things I have tried: I already turn-off, remove battery and charger and, pressed power button for 10 sec. Place battery and A/C charger back and no result. I aldo run a full testing using Lenovo System Center and I got ok and gren mark. This issue or incident happen few days ago.  There were some Microsoft Windows updates I got via web. I indeed have also restored the system to few days ago prior to such Microsoft Windows Updates . Also this unfortunatelly not work and I also cleaned any possible dust on keyboard.  Needless to say this "kind and trick problem" emerged during the black fryday. Thanks in advance.

Spilled water on my laptop and did what anyone will do. Take out the battery, and keyboard. Wiped the water, air blow the area that has water, and dried the laptop up to 24 hours. Now restarted my laptop, it worked, but keyboard wasn't  functioning. So I used on screen keyboard to login. I have rebooted, system restore, uninstall and update keyboard device, and update BIOS. Nothing seems to be working; googling and calling tech. support didn't help much. Any suggestions?

Hi,My touchpad is working, but that is all, so I can't type anything.  My ThinkPad does not have touch sensitive screen, so no other options.  (I assume that the on-screen keyboard is what is meant by 'internal' keyboard?)Here is what I have tried without success:--turned off, unplugged, removed battery, pressed power button for 60 sec, replaced battery, plugged in, turned on (actually it started up when I pressed power button for 60 sec).  Still no keyboard response.--cleaned the keyboard with electronic duster--tried random ctrl+ with both right and left ctrl keys--what DOES work is the backlight on and off (Fn + space bar)Without being able to type anything, I can't try uploading a new keyboard driver.Any suggestions?

Hi, I recently bought this laptop less than a month ago.  few day earlier this paranthesis key is not working any more.  Laptop keyboard is without any dust or blemish. I am running ubuntu and when I checked there is no press/release event being registered, using XEV package. I also ran the system with live cd same issue. Tried removing the key and cleaning the interior, nothing helps.  Is this a problem with some connection in the keyboard?  I cannot think of any software issues since It was working fine couple days ago?  Help would be greatly appreciated since I am in the middle of writing my dessertation.

Answer:Lenovo Z50 Some keyboard keys not working

I would try re-installing the keyboard, mouse and touchpad driver since the laptop works without problems with an external keyboard.

The link below is for the available drivers from Lenovo for your model. Just select your operating system in the top box for the correct driver listing.......

In the event re-installing the drivers does not work, I would suggest that you call Lenovo Support as your problem may very well be an hardware issue.  You can find the phone number for Lenovo Support in your country or area by using the link below....http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/supportphonelist_alt1

I tried some solutions like going to device manager and uninstalling the ps/2 keyboard then restarting the computer. It didn't work so I tried resetting my computer to factory settings. That didn't work either. Does anyone know how to fix this?

My brother's Lenovo G560 laptop's keyboard stopped working really abruptly, he was trying to log in to Facebook; when he went to type in his password, nothing on the keyboard worked. What could possibly be causing this? We restarted it, tried to launch in safe mode (which wasn't possible as the arrow keys weren't working), he managed to log in to his computer with the on screen keyboard and has to type there for now, which is why I'm submitting this post. If you have any ideas as to how we could fix this; please let me know! Thank you very much. P.S. Just to be clear... NONE of the keys are working AT ALL. The track pad and left and right click work, the on/off button works, but that is all.

Hi all. So 2 days ago I was using the laptop for some course work, I then went asleep for maybe 2 hours and when I woke up I was unable to use the touchpad or kyboard. Now I had this issue before but it seemed to fix itself after a day or two. So far I have reset the computer while keeping all my own files, updated, deleted, reinstalled the drivers multiple times, removed the keypad to ensure the ribbon wasn't loose etc etc. I have since been able to get the touchpad to work by messing with the drivers but the keyboard remains the same. I oticed I am able to use it when either the laptop is held at an angle or if the screen if opened up almost flat. I'm guessing this is a driver issue but I can't for the life of me figure out how to resolve this. The laptop is a few years old so no warranty. I've done a lot of reading online about this issue and it seems many people have had the same problem but no posts gave me any real solution. Any help is very much appreciated. I relly don't know what to do now.

I know this question has been asked before, but those solutions do not work for me. I just got my new Lenovo z51 80k60030us and I quickly put a game on it just to test out the waters. ran well. However, I can't move (use the keyboard) and look around (use the mouse) at the same time. I looked all over the internet and understood that it has something to do with "palm tracking" however no one had the solution for my specific mouse/keyboard issue. when I try and change the options under the lenovo mouse, it is grayed out. I tried everything to ungray it, but I have yet to succeed. help please??

I bought this laptop December and there haven't  been any issues with the keyboard and mousepad until now. On 3/3/15 I was using it perfectly with no problems; while leaving it hibernated, I wake up the next day and use it, I find some trouble connecting to the wifi, so I restart the computer. The logo freezes for about 20 seconds, as if having trouble loading the driver. So I go to Device Manager to find "Lenovo Pointing Device" with an exclamation mark, and something sbout errot 10 and not loading. The keyboard driver in PS/2 doesn't have an exclamation mark but still doesn't work. It's the same situation as this guy https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-P-Y-and-Z-series/Lenonvo-Y40-touch-pad-and-keyboard-not-working/... Before going on, note they don't work AT ALL in the login screen or even the lenovo bootscreen. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the driver many times (taken from the proper lenovo site of course w8.1 64bit ), had a lenovo phone representative do the same and still nothing. Every time you reinstall the error keeps coming up. I installed all the windows updates to make sure thats not the issue. All the other drivers are already up to date. Now, I did a system restore many times, now back 2 weeks before, and the result is still the same. Same exlamation point, same slow bootup, Id like to think this is a hardware issue but they were working fine just before I rebooted it. I do tend to leave the laptop on hibernate for... Read more

Answer:Lenovo Y40 keyboard and mousepad not working

hi paulschaeffer,

Welcome to the Forums.

From your observation, it does seem like you have a faulty keyboard/touchpad.

Things that you can try:
1. Inside Windows, follow this guide on how to boot into the UEFI Firmware Interface. If successful, try to test the keyboard by trying one of the keyboard options at the bottom of the screen (this is to verify the keyboard functionality outside Windows)
   - Link to picture

2. Power down the machine, press the OneKey Recovery button and observe if you can navigate to the Novo Menu. If the keyboard is working, hit System Recovery and check if the touchpad is functional.
  - Link to picture

If both the keyboard and touchpad are working fine outside Windows then you may need to consider doing a factory reset by continuing with the System Recovery, otherwise, you may need to contact lenovo one more time for service.

Hey all, I purchased a Lenovo Y510p less than a month ago and have loved it. A small wifi connection problem was quickly solved with some new drivers but today, all of a sudden after a restart, the keyboard will become completely unresponsive after about 3 minutes post-login on the desktop.  I have been searching for solutions all day to no avail... I have tried flee power and it seemed to work, however i restarted again without flee power and the problem arose once more. I reset the bios (i think), that changed nothing. This is a quite serious problem for me since the keyboard is pretty useful! Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Answer:Lenovo Y510P SLI Keyboard not working

Did you install any new software? Completely unresponsive keyboard means that even if you press CapsLock or NumLock, the light indicators do not turn On and OFF. Is the rest of your laptop working fine? Have you connected any Peripheral devices such as USB?

Hey CommunityI encountered a rather strange problem yesterday when my wife turned on her Lenovo we bought a month ago. It is possible to enter the PIN at the Win10 startup page, but as soon as we enter Windows, no(!) key works. Neither Keypad nor Keyboard. We tried:- accessing the Bios, which works and in which the Keyboard works normally- deleting the Keyboard PS/2 Driver from the Hardware Setting Menue, which results in a re-installation of this driver but still the error remains- plugging in a USB keyboard which interestingly receives power and the volume buttons works, but here the same, the keys do not function (and this one also does not work at the windows pin screen).- waited until Win10 installed all updates, even the anniversary update, but still nothing changed (was my last hope. D'oh!). Right now I'm quite lost and don't see why things do not work. Really need some help here...Thank you in advance BTW: It's a  Lenovo B50-80 80EW0521GE as far as I understand it.

Hi there, Bought new SSD, was not working, upgraded BIOS to newest 1.40 version. SSD working just fine. But now I noticed my keyboard light (fn + page up) is not working. Was fine before. Anyone else having this issue?Another issue: laptop speakers are not working. The line out (connected headphones) is working fine. My idea was to report this problem to lenovo tech staff but I wasn't able to find a way to do it online (only phone service). cheers. --Lenovo ThinkPad X201 3323-8TG

Answer:X201 problems after BIOS upgrade (keyboard light not working, laptop speakers not working)

Hello Infro!

Welcome to the Support Forums. I can imagine your frustration. I looked at the Driver Matrix for your X201 and it looks like there have been some other updates released recently. I am not sure of your operating system, so you may need to verify they are correct, but all are listed above in the driver matrix.

Check to see if you have the current version of these drivers:

Hotkey Features Integration
Lenovo Power Management for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Vista (32-bit, 64-bit), XP (32-bit, 64-bit)
Also check for Power Manager Patches
Solid State Drive firmware update utility

Let me know if you have any questions and if everything is updated.

When trying to use my Lenovo Y Gaming Headset with my Laptop which is a Lenovo G50-30 it makes a buzzing noise. Sometimes I adjust the position of the headphone cord in the dock and that stops the buzzing on my end. When talking to people through Skype or Teamspeak. They are able to hear a buzzing noise. Is there a solution to stop this? Thanks.

Answer:Lenovo Y Gaming Headset not working wth Lenovo G50-30 Laptop

If you have any USB devices plugged in near the jack, try moving them to USB port further away.     Also check to be sure you have a properly grounded outlet, as it could be what is referred to as a ground loop..    You can also get what is called a ground loop isolator such as the one below to plug between your headphone and the jack, and that might help too. Mpow Ground Loop Noise Isolatorhttp://www.amazon.com/Mpow-Ground-Isolator-System-Stereo/dp/B019393MV2/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=U... Good Luck

Hi, the latptop is only about 2.5 months old now... 3 weeks ago randomly the keyboard's keys on the laptop itself stopped working. No clue why, Ive checked drivers, did a reboot, tried safe mode, etc... It's only on the laptop itself. The keys that work are tyhg caps lock num lock and maybe a couple others... Ive never spilled anything on the laptop nor have I ever dropped it. I was in love with this laptop for the price I paid for it at Best Buy until the keyboard stopped working on it... It just randomly happened and I'm not sure why. The keys don't appear to stick or anything like that... (normal keystrokes just nothing happens in result of clicking them) I am using a keyboard plugged into it right now... I really need to get this fixed and I'm very upset at the fact it happened just 2 months after the purchase... So that cancels out my bestbuy 1 month warranty right there. I really can't deal with this much longer considering the fact that I was planning to use this laptop for my work.. If I can't get a simple easy fix I will have to find something new somewhere else... sorry to say. Praying for an easy solution/fix.

Hi

This have worked fine before on Lenovo X2xx series. They usually come preinstalled with Win 10, but I need to have Win 7 on them.

Before installing Windows from USB, I go into bios - change Secure Boot to disable.
Then go to Startup: Set CSM to enable, Boot Mode to Auto, Boot Priority to Leagacy First .

Save and hit F12, choose my USB stick with Windows 7 install files - and install Windows.

But with this Lenovo S510, my keyboard and mouse dont work. I have tryed it on both USB 2 and 3 output, change my keyboard and mous a few times - but with no luck.

How in the name of ... can I get my keyboard and mous to work.

It all stops with the first Windows 7 logo (where you choose your language etc)

Hello all! I write to you today from an external keyboard placed on top of my laptop, because my keyboard stopped working last night, first by losing an e key, than a r key, and then, when I restarted the laptop, thinking it would be solved by doing so, the entire keyboard would not work past a certain point in windows boot. It does work in BIOS and I can even watch caps lock light up and go off and turn the backlight on and off.Things to note1) The last software change was 2 days before this happened. It was an update to Windows 10. which is my OS.2) My system restore points will not work due to an issue with AppXstaging (not sure if solvable).3)There are two HID compliant devices in my keyboard section on device manager. and a ps2 compatabile keyboard (which is the one I'm typing on right now) 4) I emphasize that the keyboard DOES WORK in BIOS and during boot, up until the point I can see my windows icon, and Cortana. Things I've tried1) sfc scannow comes back with there being issues it couldn't fix as well as ones it fixed2) chkdsk enjoyed scanning my computer for 5 hours last night and fixing some issues3) I do have an event viewer full of errors regarding filter manager and storage, but nothing I could see with the keyboard.4) Black majik5) I have uninstalled so many devices from device manager to let them install that my mouse hands hurt. Perhaps the place in the boot process it is freezing is when the driver reinstalls?6) The problem still occurs in SAFE mode... Read more

Answer:Lenovo Y50-70-- Keyboard stops working during wind...

Hi Rose,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

About the keyboard issue I am not sure. I have heard that there is another Patch update for Win 10 that has been released, you may want to check and install that in Windows Update functionality.

Method 1:
Try to remove keyboard device via device manager (right click my computer > manage > device management > keyboards > find your keyboard > right click and select remove > then restart your computer)

Method 2:
If the keyboard is working fine on the login screen and then suddenly stops functioning when you get to the desktop / metro screen then the problem might be with the Filter Keys - similar to this thread.
Try to turn off Filter Keys by going to Control Panel > Ease of Access > Ease of Access Center > Make the keyboard easier to use > uncheck Turn on Filter Keys then hit apply.
Link to picture
If same problem, you may want to consider doing a clean windows.

Method 3:
If it doesn't work, you may need to replace the keyboard, contact Lenovo service centres and ask for replacement for free if you have valid warranty.

Let us know how you get on.
Regards,
Shashi

First of all the support section on Lenovos website must be the most confusing I've ever experienced. I can't find anywhere to send a simple email asking a question. When I enter my product serial at http://support.lenovo.com/ I cant use either email or chat because for some reason those options are not available for my product!I did try to call them, but they don't understand anything. No technical knowledge. So my last option was to register for this forum and hope someone can help me. (Even the forum didn't seem to be updated as there was no section for my model, ideapad 700, only up to 500) Anyway my question is that my backlit keyboard is not working for my Lenovo 700 15ISKYes I fully understand I have to activate it by Fn + Spacebar. But nothing happens. My spacebar has the symbol for backlit keyboard. I was confused at first because I've read that some configurations of Ideapad 700 15ISK does not have backlit keyboard. My Machine Type Model: 80RU001KMX I have tried updating drivers, bios and windows 10. Nothing helped. One thing that are confusing to me is that in many guides/posts for other Lenovo products I've read. "Lenovo settings" should have an icon for the backlit keyboard, so that you whithin that app/program could activate it. My Lenovo settings app does not have this icon. It has lots of options to configure most of the functions for my ideapad 700, but nowhere in this program can I find anything about backlit ... Read more

My keyboard stopped suddenly working. First the mousepad froze and when I got it working I realized that the keyboard isn't working. When I try to click anywhere it immediately starts typing "zzzzzzz..." and won't stop. I am currently using my laptop in tablet mode. I was able to type a, q and 1 when holding down the letter z, but I updated the bios and now nothing works (I was previously also able to 'disable' the letter z, when holding it down with the buttons next to it). Could it be possible to fix the problem or should I give up and take it to repairs?

So I was using my Lenovo Yoga 2 laptop for a study session. My keyboard was working fine the last time I used it, which was like ten minutes before it stopped working. Nothing on my keyboard is working, including the F controls/shortcuts. The ThinkPad is working normally and so is its corresponding right/left keys. The screen is also fine and the touch screen keyboard is working as well. My laptop isn't in tablet mode or any other mode other than laptop mode.  So basically, has anyone else had this problem and possibly share their wisdom. Also, if there are basic shortcuts that simply turn off your keyboard and can turnit back on, it'd be quite helpful, because there could be a simple fix but I wouldn't be aware since I am not very tech savvy.  Thank you so much!

I spilled water on my laptop a few days ago. My screen was fine at first, but then (I assume) water got into some part of the hardware. Now the display is barely visible. I think it could be the inverter board that was affected, but I want to know how to fix it/what part(s) I need.In addition, my keyboard doesn't work. The touchscreen keyboard doesn't work either. I can tap on the keys, but nothing shows up. What is affected so that I can't even use the touchscreen keyboard? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Water spilled into a laptop can cause a variety of problems as well as short  circuits.  It would be difficult to pin point exactly where your problems lie.  I suspect though that laptop isn't thoroughly dried out yet which maybe part of the problem.  I would suggest you open it up and let it continue to dry out, before proceeding further.  For your reference here is a link to your model's Hardware Maintenance Manual.......

I have a Lenovo Yoga 700 14ISK (ideapad) with Windows 10 64bit, whose keyboard and touchpad are refusing to work.Everything else seems to be running smoothly except for these. I initially was getting by via the on screen keyboard until I began borrowing an external wireless one. The following is what I knowReset to factory settings did not work.Optimizing OS in BIOS is enabled already (enabling this was suggested by Lenovo Support)THE ARROW KEYS WORK IN BIOS (??!???!?)An external keyboard works (I have used two different Logitech keyboards and both work)Before I sign in, FN+Space seems to work thus (re)activating my backlight. Once I sign in, it stops working. There's no updates for the keyboard driver.I have already tried to uninstall the driver, restart the laptop, and allow it to reinstall the driver.Disabling ymc did not help.F6 does not re-enable the touchpad.I tried a couple button combinations I've seen around for people disabling/enabling keyboards, but none worked. (Willing to try more though!!!) Any ideas? I thought it may be a hardware problem, but since the arrow keys work in BIOS; I'm not confident that this is the case.

Hello, recently my keyboard/mouse pad has stopped working. It won't let me type or anything, but I can turn the lights on the keyboard on/off, and can change my screen brightness through the keyboard. Anyone have any suggestions?

My keyboard stopped suddenly working. First the mousepad froze and when I got it working I realized that the keyboard isn't working. When I try to click anywhere it immediately starts typing "zzzzzzz..." and won't stop. I am currently using my laptop in tablet mode. I was able to type a, q and 1 when holding down the letter z, but I updated the bios and now nothing works (I was previously also able to 'disable' the letter z, when holding it down with the buttons next to it). Could it be possible to fix the problem or should I give up and take it to repairs?

HiFor several days my Lenovo Y550 Laptop's keyboard is acting very funny. Below are the issues: 1) Some time Help and Support Window of Windows 7 will keep popping up2) Some times Keyboard will be completely locked and No key will work. Touchpad works fine(no issue).3) Some key works and some does not. Also, When I type, ' will be types instead of the key what I pushed. What I am trying to understand from this post is whether this is Software issue or Hardware issue before I go out and buy new Keyboard. I have scanned computer to make sure there is no virus unless my Virus Scanner is not catching the virus. I am missing any Driver ? or any Virus issue ? or something else ? Laptop is out of warrenty. Please Help

Answer:Lenovo Y550 Keyboard is not working/locked

shut down your computer and restart it. when you see lenovo logo press f8 to load on safe mode and check if your keyboard is working.

ps: due to your warranty has expired ( been two years, i suppose ) it's dead keyboard issue, hit ebay and search for "y550 keyboard lenovo".  keyboard replacement is needed.

Hi, I am using Lenovo G550 Model. Yesterday, I started facing this problem. When I tried to login, none of the keys worked. When I pressed Backspace, it started typing something. I tried to use on screen keyboard, which did not help either. Same problem persists with on screen keyboard as well. I, even, tried using an USB external keyboard & the same problem is there too. Kindly help me!!!

Answer:Lenovo G550 Keyboard not Working.... Can't log in to the system...

hi Avikiru,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Can you try,

Remove the AC and the Battery
Hold the Power Button down for at least 15 sec.
Reconnect just the AC and see if that'll work

If not You can contact a Lenovo Support Team or a Local Technician to have the Keyboard connection checked.

Regards
Solid Cruver

I bought this laptop last december and there was nearly no problem (everything was working fine) about it until recently. I always use it only at home with a keyboard and mouse attached to it because of what I do and I find it easy not using the touchpad and keyboard of the laptop. I only use them occationally. Recently I brought it with me and I was surprised neither the keyboard or the touchpad is not working. I searched the forums and I cannot find any posts that was the same as my case. I also searched drivers for both and installed them but nothing happened. When I installed the driver for my touchpad it said that there was no driver to be updated. I looked to my control panel then in the mouse properties, and the synaptics pointing device isn't there anymore. There I started to think that it's a hardware problem. I'm wondering why is it a hardware problem as I rarely use them. Now I could still use my laptop normally with a keyboard and mouse attached. I really need to get this fixed as soon as possible because I'm going to need it for school. If it's not fixed here then I'm probably going to a service center to report about the issue. Thank you in advance and have a great day!

Answer:Lenovo Z400T touchpad and keyboard not working

Hi Dyisi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I?m sorry to hear that the Touchpad device is not detected in your computer even after trying to re-install its driver. Hence, the only available option to confirm if the issue is hardware related by performing OSRI (Operating System Re-Installation).

NOTE: Please backup the data in the computer before performing OSRI, as the data will be completely erased.

Hope to hear back soon

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

Hi there, I've a Lenovo X1 Carbon with Adaptive Keyboard issue.Running on Windows 8.1 The FN key and panel stops working when system boots up. And when i press the FN repeatedly to switch modes it is not working. I have to go to Control Panel and Manually change the settings. I've even disabled the Dynamic Mode.  The Adaptive Keyboard should change automatically when different application are launched. Please advise if a fix is available for Win 8.1 to fix resolve this issue.

Answer:Lenovo IdeaPad P580 Keyboard not working

Wow! I found an easy fix! Just unplug the charger from your laptop, take out the battery and wait for a few minutes, put the battery back in, plug the charger and the keyboard works fine! It was probably just short circuiting!
