I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi there,

As per the title:
I have the samsung NVME driver on a USB stick, the Win7 installer can see the stick and the other driver subfolders on the stick (nvme driver on root).
But, the installer finds nothing on the stick on a scan, and displays no driver on a manual search, and recognises no drivers if i simply point it at the stick an accept.

I simply get a error message from the "Load Driver" popup:
"No signed device drivers were found. Make sure the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK."
USB drive is formatted as vFAT (32?).
Tried both EUFI and normal boot from DVD drive.

Suggestions?

i need help...bad...I picked up a copy of windows 8.1 yesterday (hoping to upgrade it to 10 once i got it. I also already had windows 7 on the computer, so i started the setup from the desktop) it did its thing. I typed in the product key and continued through the process. Then i got to the 'where do you want windows to install?' tab and it lets me pick which hard drive to install windows on. Thats where the problem occured, I can not for the life of me figure this out. I've got a friend who know's a ton about this stuff and i was on the phone with him for at least 2 hours last night. we cant figure it out, I've downloaded the drivers on a flash drive and it wont open. I have the motherboards CD in and it doesn't help. there are no .exe files. and I have spent hours trying to get it to work and it doesn't.

Hello Peoplearenuts Welcome to the Forums
I don't want to say this but you didn't need to buy win8.1 to get 10; you can install windows 10 for free if you have 7.
But since you bought it lets work on it.

So the first thing to do is not to do a clean install; you want to upgrade the PC threw the desktop
it will automatically assign the HDD based on what your upgrading.

Please don't fell bad about this we all make mistakes; believe me I have made some big ones
Also I have had that problem too so this should help you out

This is going to be difficult since I am the middle man here, but here it goes.

A few months ago I sent my friend a Windows 7 DVD for his new computer that he built, and everything went fine. Earlier this week he was building another one, using the same HDD and disk and he kept getting errors that are still unresolved. He formatted his old HDD and still didnt work, and also got a new 320 GB hdd and same problems. He cant even get Ubuntu to install. ive searched for a few hours and couldn't find a similar problem or solution. The exact error message is "No signed drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains all the correct drivers and then click ok." Sometimes he got an error 0x8030001, not quite sure what he did to get that. Anybody have any idea about what to do?

Answer:MultiPoint Server 2012 Drivers

Hi: The only suggestion I can offer would be to try the Windows 8.1 drivers and see if they work. http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-550-000-Desktop-PC-series/7779690/model/... SMbus needs the Intel chipset driver. Graphics needs the AMD R5-330 driver. I don't see the bluetooth driver listed on the support page, so see if this one works. This package contains the Broadcom Bluetooth driver for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. Broadcom Bluetooth Driver is required to enable Broadcom Bluetooth devices. File name: sp67447.exe Try manually installing the drivers if the auto install doesn't work. If the drivers don't extract to a folder like they do on notebook PC's, use a free file utility like 7-zip to extract the drivers from the exe file and browse to the folder that 7 zip creates.

I'm hoping someone can help me, as this is driving me mad. I have a brand new Microserver Gen8, and I'm trying to install MS Windows Server 2012 R2 Trial Edition on it. No matter what I do, whether using Intelligent Provisioning or manual installation, I get an error "Windows cannot find the Microsoft Software License Terms. Dear community For educational purposes (study of SW architectures) I would like to install Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2012 directly on a ThinkPad T420s without having a host operating System and a virtual guest. The idea behind this is to get the best usage of the resources. Unfortunately most of the built in hardware is not recognized. At least I would like to have drivers for the network adapters and the display adapter. Everything else is a nice to have. Does anyone of you have an idea where I could get drivers for the mentioned server operating systems and devices? Any input is highly appreciated. Thank you very much in advance. Kind regardsGabriel

Answer:Windows Server 2008 R2 or 2012 drivers for T420s

You should be able to use most if not all of the Windows 7 drivers (on 2008R2) or the Windows 8 drivers (on 2012) directly. There's also an off chance you can use the 7 drivers on 2012 or the 8 drivers on 2008R2, but I doubt it.

Hello,

I do not know or write my topic, it will move if necessary.
So here is my problem.

I just bought a laptop with windows 8 install, but I want to install Windows Server 2012.
I boot on my dvd all goes well, then I click install and then he told me the key was not valid.
But I did not enter a key.

When I reinstall windows 8 I give no key and he did not ask in the property and after he told me that windows is activated.

I understand anything the key or it will scan??
I how little he turns to put me key?

Thank you in advance

Answer:Satellite P850-31M - key not valid installing Windows Server 2012

Sorry but I?m confused.

If you have purchased the Windows Server 2012 license, then you have received also an serial key.
You have to use such key to for activation.

Regarding Win 8:
I assume Win 8 was preinstalled.
In such case you have to create a recover disk BEFORE installing another system?
You did not get any Win 8 disk because there was a possibility to create a recovery disk and the recovery disk contains an Win 8 which is activated.

Hey there,

As often said...long time lurker. Recently installed a copy of WS2012 Datacenter I received to play with and learn more about. I have pretty much zero Windows Server background knowledge (I don't count WHS...which I have running as well).

So, my question...I created a Storage Pool, and then a couple Volumes, and then Shares.

My embarrassing noob question...how do I access these Shares?

I can locate the server on my network, and know the IP address of it.

I created a User account so that I don't need to use the Admin account for general use.

My goal:
Access the Share I created from my MacBook Air so that I can read/write files from it.

Thanks in advance for tolerating my WS "noobness."

Answer:Accessing Windows Server 2012 Server Pool Shares

Not sure how to access it from a mac, but on a windows box you can just run \\%servername%\%sharename% and it'll launch it in an explorer window. Should be some sort of network browser on the mac to allow you to type in the unc.

We run a web proxy server on our network for internet access.
On client machines (running Windows 2012 R2) I have configured the proxy server setting in Internet Explorer "Tools\Internet Settings\Connections\LAN Settings" to point at the designated web proxy server.
When attempting to browse websites from IE I receive the "The proxy server isn't responding" error.
Conversely, browsing the same sites via Google Chrome and Firefox (installed on the same client server) return web pages without error.
In addition, if I run Internet Explorer as administrator (Right Click\Run as Administrator), I am able to browse web sites without receiving the error.
It would appear that the issue is isolated to browsing via IE when not run in elevated mode.
Has anyone come across this issue?

Answer:Server 2012 R2 - Internet Explorer Proxy Server Issue

Hi Dicki,
First, please try to reset the Internet Explorer. Some plug-ins may affect the proxy.
If it doesn't work, please try to perform a network capture on the client.
Please check if the client send the http traffic to the proxy server at the correct port.
If the client has sent the http traffic to the proxy server, please check if there is any warning or error in the proxy server.

.. hoping I can get some help on this. Driving me nuts!

Since upgrading to Windows Server 2016, WOL doesn't work for me. I've ruled out network or router issues, since it works perfectly fine on my Windows 7 machine.

I have 3 NICs in a team, but that's irrelevant, since the WOL doesn't work even if I disabled the teaming. One thing I did notice is that when I shutdown my Windows 7 machine, the NICs remain lit. However, the NICs on my Windows Server 2016 completely turn off. I don't recall if that was the case when I was using 2012 on the same hardware, but it seems strange to me. If the NICs are completely off, I can't imagine there is a way for them to receive magic packets.

I checked the UEFI and all the necessary options are enabled for WOL. I also tried upgrading the NIC drivers on the server but that didn't help. I read that Windows 10 has a "fast startup" option that messes with WOL, so I disabled it in the Group Policy settings on the server, but that didn't work either.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd be grateful for the help.

So Im finally putting my big boy pants on and setting up a real home server. There are going to be 3 main uses for this server

1) Home server - Mainly for streaming to all my raspberry pi's and other windows devices but also as a network drive for my ssd only pcs

2) Remote server - Grabbing files away from home, remote vnc etc

3) Web server - Been working on a small personal website for a while now that I want to be able to host myself once it goes live. This isn't my main use for the server and if it isnt going to jive well with my primary uses I can always build a seperate pc for that use.

So if cost wasnt a concern between home server 2011 and server 2012 which would you choose based on my planned usage? I plan on using drive pool or drive bender with whatever I choose. So I would also appreciate some recommendations on which application you would choose with your choice of operating systems. Also, I can't seem to find definitive differences between the server 2012
releases (standard, foundation, essentials) It seems to be more of a licensing thing, so furthermore, which version of server 2012 would you go with?

Sorry guys, Im a total noob at this

Answer:Home server 2011 or Server 2012?

Personally, I'm going with WHS2011. I'd rather start with an OS that has most of it's bugs worked out, over an unknown. Since you can get a license for ~$50, why not start there to get your feet wet, then upgrade to Server 2012 once the kinks have been worked out?

Hi,

I recently installed Windows Server 2008 Standard (64-bit and genuine) on a ministry's machine (previously mine). I have also ran Windows Update until it said the OS is fully up to date. I am having one caveat at the moment...which is trying to get the audio to work.

According to Device Manager, my Realtek HD Audio is installed and functioning correctly (it appears in the list without problems, in other words).

According to Sound in Control Panel, it says that it cannot find any audio devices.

The motherboard in this machine is a Gigabyte EP45-DS3R, and I used the Vista 64-bit drivers from the site. For confirmation that it is indeed Vista 64-bit drivers, I have another thread somewhere here and from immediate experience that I needed these kind of drivers to make my onboard ethernet work.

The audio service is disabled by default on Server 2008. If you're trying to use it as a desktop workstation, have fun.

Hello,
I created the following performance counter using logman.exe.

logman.exe create counter US_Triton_Perf_Log -b 9/23/2015 09:30:00 -e 9/30/2099 18:30:00 -r -s $server -si $frequence -cf $folder\$server.txt -f $logtype  -o C:\local\logs\Perfout_$Server --a -v mmddhhmm  -rf  $max_duration

When I do this across multiple servers specifically for Windows Servers 2008/2012, the counter is created to repeat and run everyday at 930PM and stops running everyday at 430PM. This works perfectly fine as intended. However, When I do this for a Windows
2003 server, my created counter is very different.
For example, in this case, I have set to the counters to start at 930AM and end at 1830PM, because I have set a maximum duration of 9 hours, the job terminates and begins on the next day, since I have the repeat option on. However, this does not apply to
our 2003 server; logman creates the job to run once a week in this case it would be on a Wednesday. In addiiton, I noticed that the job doesn't not even start at it's indented time. It actually does not start at all. I also notice that the jobs on all windows
2003 servers are created in a pending status, which then prevents me from removing the counter remotely.

I would like to know if windows 2003 is capable of working like my win 2008/2012 servers using logman, and if historically, the job has to be kicked off through scheduled task.

Both Jobs are using the same criteria, but a... Read more

Hello all, I am trying to install Windows 7 on the following desktop PC:

Intel Core i3 Processor i3-530
2048MB DDR3
500GB 3G Hard Drive
ATI Radeon HD 4350 Graphics
Supermulti Drive with LightScribe Technology

First, I will start by saying that when I turn on my PC, I receive this message on a black screen "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key". When I press a key, nothing changes, i.e. still stuck on the same screen.

So, I decided to install Windows 7.

When I tried installing Windows 7, it would begin the installation process... I clicked "Install Now", then when given the options between "Upgrade" or 'Custom (Advanced)', I selected the Custom Advanced.

When asked 'Where you would like to install Windows?' (see screenshot #1.jpg), there was nothing shown in the box, i.e. there is no hard drive or partition for me to select where I can install Windows. So just to try, I clicked "Load Driver".

It prompted me to install a device driver. I clicked Browse and browsed through the existing drives. (see Screenshot #2.jpg)

Next, it showed me that 'No device drivers were found..." (see Screenshot #3.jpg)

I tried to google on how to find the drivers to install but to no avail.

Any ideas on how I should proceed from here? i.e. How to install the device drivers needed to continue the installation process etc.

Thanks!

IP Network: Dhcp server works fine. (CISCO ROUTER)

Windows 200o servers, Windows 2000 clients (up to dated, sp4, rollup1 etc) IS6sp1

Some pc's with IP dhcp , works ok
Some pc's with fixed IP, works ok

After changing fixed IP on a client to dhcp-IP, the client can not find the DHCP server.
change back to fixed IP, PC works fine again.

DHP server and other DHCP clients still working fine

Local Area connection status: only outgoing packets, no incoming.

reboot, or ipconfig /renew no solutions

Does someone know this problem ?

hi apichartl,

Thanks for posting. Was readingthrough your thread and was wondering about the message that appeared. Did this happen after you installed the RAM and booted into windows again or when you ran the widows 7 disk to install the OS. I'm wondering because I trying a full understanding of what exactly happened here.

so, do you or don't you?

i've come across quite a few boxes that have Standard VGA Adapter.... i can always tell because when i'm shutting down and the background grays out it stutters like crazy...

some people argue the less drivers/memory footprint you have on a windows server desktop the better.... stability could possibly be taken from the OS because of 3rd party driver programmers....

what are your thoughts? i always thought of it as a "no big deal"... load it up anyway... unless i was forced to get video drivers from like driverguide or something, and i didn't need any hardware acceleration anyway.

i guess it kind of depends on how much or what you're using that server desktop/gui for... administration? or cod4

Answer:installing graphics drivers on a server

Yes. Remote desktop applications work better, as does the higher resolutions on your monitor that is desired on todays servers. Esp with LCD monitors being more common for servers.....including the 1U KVM panels for server cabinets.

Installing the proper driver really has little to do with a "memory footprint". Servers have (or should have) "Server approved hardware/drivers". Commonly onboard ATI with most servers I've dealt with.

I recently bought an Acer Aspire 4750G with no Windows pre-installed (i.e DOS).

I downloaded Windows 7 x64 Professional Edition .iso from the official MSDNAA website. I used Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool (run on Windows XP SP3) to create a bootable USB flashdisk (Sandisk Cruzer Blade 8.0GB). Note that the file format of the flashdisk is turned to NTFS.

Next, i inserted the flashdisk into the USB3.0 port of my 4750G, when into BIOS and changed the boot priority to USB HDD - Sandisk Cruzer Blade.
As usual, I saved the changes, exited the BIOS and reboot. Also note that the initial mode is AHCI.

Booting from flashdisk is successful. I was able to enter the setup. The first screen prompts to select country and keyboard. The next screen shows the button "Install Now".
When I clicked this button, the setup does not lead me to the License Agreement screen. Instead, it displays the following message:

A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD or USB flash drive, please insert it now
There is a Browse and Rescan button at the bottom.

I had previously downloaded every driver for my Acer Aspire 4750G, hence i extracted those in .zip and copied them into the same flashdisk and restarted the setup again.
When the No Device Driver screen appeared, I clicked on the "Browse" button and tried to navigate to the driver folders inside the flashdisk. But I cannot find them, because the directory of the bootable US... Read more

First of all, this is my first post on this forum. (Hurray!) Only because most computer related issues I can fix myself with the help of the internet. However after trying to fix this for about 2 days now this is my last resort. Before you ask yes I have HUNTED through the internet trying to fix the issue, but most of the fixes are only specific to their computer so I've decided making a new thread would be the only other option.

So after finally getting sick of Windows Vista, I wanted to upgrade so I bought and downloaded the Windows 7 x32 .iso file and burned it at the lowest speed possible twice; once using ImgBurn, and once using InfraRecorder, after recieving the error the first time. From there I shut down my computer and rebooted it, and booted from the Windows 7 install disk. The installer then opens up and everything till I get to the language screen, where I pick my language (English US or just English, from memory.) Time and date location (English New Zealand) and default for the other (cannot remember that). From there it takes me to the next screen, where a pop up saying 'No device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click ok.' pops up with three options, Ok, Cancel and Browse. From there I pretty much have to find my driver updates to continue, but it does not specify what driver I need at all and I have no idea what to do.

So far I have tried all of the solutions provided in this post, except for th... Read more

We have a Server 2008 R2 print server that handles all printing for our mixed windows domain. I am trying to install 64 bit drivers so that our newer 64 bit clients can simply double click on the printer to add it to their list of printers.

According to what I'm reading online, I'm supposed to go into the printer's properties. Click Sharing, then click additional drivers. Makes sense. I select the x64 for the processor type (x86 is checked by default and will not uncheck).

At this point it wants me to locate the drivers. I point it to the HP drivers that I have downloaded for 64 bit processors and hit ok but it tells me "The specified location does not contain the driver HP laserjet 4250 PCL 5 for the requested processor architecture." Which it does, although it is PCL 5e rather than PCL 5.

I also have read that the drivers need to have the same name. I assume this means within the INI file. I've tried to change all the locations to read PCL 5 instead of PCL 5e but it gives another error instead. "Windows cannot locate a suitable printer driver. Contact your administrator."

Help!

Answer:Installing Additional Drivers on Print Server

I am not sure of the error you are recieving, but for my Server 2008 R2 print server when I add additional drivers I go to the print server in server manager, right click on drivers, and then select add driver. I believe doing it this way it adds the drivers to the pool of drivers the server has access to which in turn should make them available to that HP LJ 4250. Let me know if this helps and I hope my steps make sense. If not I can take screenshots. Also the universal print drivers HP provides helped me get around a lot of the driver issues, directly related to Windows 7, that I experience on my print server.

I have a client with a web server running Windows 2000 Professional. They also have a server on the network running NT 4. They have been told that there is a device that will route requests to the NT server if the 2000 server is down that costs about $100. I have not heard of such an animal, and if anybody can shed some light on this I'd really appreciate it. The device should somehow, I suppose, automatically detect that the machine at IP address A is not responding, and route the web request to IP address B. Anybody?

I am wondering if it's possible to install it as 2012 essentials with the same features as essentials kind of like how win pro had every thing home had. Or are the features of server essentials not included in standard? (Features like full pc back up and the dashboard like whs 2011)

Hi
I am working with windows 8 and I have installed SQL server 2007 and visual studio 2010. Now I want to upgrade these setups to SQL server 2012 and visual studio 2012. what is the advantages of what i want to do and how can i do it easily without corrupting the operating system? Please help.

Answer:Installation of sql server 2012 and visual studio 2012

SQL Server has an upgrade option that is pretty painless. Just run the setup file from your 2012 installation media and click the upgrade option. It will ask you what instance to upgrade, run some checks, and then upgrade it for you.

Visual Studio is a little different. If you install 2012 without uninstalling 2010 first, you will simply just have both versions to choose from. You can completely uninstall 2010 before installing 2012 by finding your 2010 installation file and adding the uninstall and force switches when running it(ex. "C:\vs_ultimate.exe /uninstall /force").

If you keep 2010, 2012 will ask you if you wish to import your settings and whatnot from 2010. If you uninstall 2010, 2012 will just have it all when you open it for the first time.

This may well be a server issue. I just don't where to begin.

I have a Windows Server 2003 file and print server on my home network. And I have an HP 4050 laser printer on the network that is shared through the W2k3 server. Previously, all PCs and laptops on my network had been running Windows XP and they could install a network printer and get their driver from the server. My Windows 7 Pro machine cannot, probably because there is no Win7 driver on the server.

How do I place the driver on the server, so that I can install the network printer on the Win7 machine?

* I have just a workgroup environment set up on the home network, no domain authentication. I'm logged in an admin on the Windows 7 machine.

(I'm guessing that there may be other ways to go about this, like maybe installing the driver directly onto the Windows 7 machine and then pointing at the shared printer on the server, but I'd just as soon get the driver onto the server so that setup is easier for future Win7 machines.)

It's unlikely that server 03 will have a printer driver for Windows 7, you will definitely want to install the driver on the Windows 7 machine.

The problem is that with old printers it may be difficult to obtain Windows 7 drivers but that is your best bet.

I'm experimenting with implimenting this and am having a few issues.

When I install a print device and deploy with GPO, it works great.

When I update the driver on the server to a newer version using the 'new driver' button, I have issues. It prompts the user saying they need to install the driver. If you choose to install, it prompts for administrator credentials, which obviously negates the whole point of centralized management.

If I remove the printer from deployment, delete it and the driver, then add it again with an older version driver, and redeploy, the clients are still using the newer driver (sometimes I have reasons to roll back print drivers).

One thing I did notice is the driver is not listed as a package, where the default stuff by Microsoft is. I don't know if that makes a difference. If it is, how can I create the package? Do I have to use WDS or something similar?

So, what am I doing wrong when I'm changing the drivers that it won't automatically deploy the new driver without user intervention? Also, if there is no way to force the change, is there a way to force client stations to delete the old driver without getting into a bunch of scripting (I don't care for it).

Sais here, Install more than one operating system (multiboot) - Windows Help

I should install the older operating system first, windows 7, to run a duel boot with windows 2012 server.

But I am already running 2012 server and would like to just install windows 7 to it. Surely it will work.

I was going to shrink my c volume to create a new partition within my c hard drive and install windows 7 to that.

Or I could just install it to another drive, which I'd prefer not to do. Any advice regarding possibility of doing this?

I presume this is similar to installing windows 8 first and then wanting to install windows 7 afterwards as a duel boot.

Please advise further, cheers

I bouoght a dual quad Xeon workstation on eBay that I want to use for 3d graphics rendering. Price was right but if came with no OS. It has a Vista key label but I want to install Windows 7 Pro 64 on this machine.

I found a number of forums where people talk about successfully using W7 and on the Dell site it says the machine is compatible with basic W7 functions so it should work. Most of what they say involves issues with RAID drivers. I really have no need for RAID and have just one drive in the box. (It is currently running Linux just fine)

Problem is cannot get it to install because it can not find "suitable drivers". I have all the drivers available from Dell for Vista. There are no Win7 drivers for this machine so have to use Vista 64 drivers.

How can I get past that driver barrier and install Windows 7 and install the Vista drivers? Is there a way I can load it using another machine as a source? I have the same OS on a couple other machines although the other is an i7 quad. The video cards are the exact same model.

What if I got a Vista install disk and use the key on the box then upgrade to 7?

Shame to have a really fast linux door stop!

I then press the "Load Driver" and get up 'To install the Device driver needed to access your hard drive, insert the installation media containing the driver files and then click OK.'
When I browse to find the drivers I've downloaded from Toshiba direct on my flash drive, I get "No signed drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers and then click OK'
This is as far as I can go because I do not know how or where to get "signed drivers".

Hello, all!

I am preparing to get a Windows Server set up in the near future here at a mission school I just started working at.

Here's what I am planning on running:
Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V, under which I will run 3x virtual machines (Server 2012 Standard, pfSense, and Untangle).

Since I am needing to get this implemented as soon as possible, I am trying to decide what to do, considering Windows Server 2012 R2's release is just around the corner.

I'm wondering... Is 2012 R2 going to be a completely different OS, in that you need to purchase a separate license key to run it if you already have 2012? Or will it be more like a service pack?

Also, can the preview version be upgraded to release once it is released?

The reason I am asking is that I am needing to get this set up as soon as possible, and need to know how to proceed. Should I use Hyper-V preview and Standard preview (if there is one... Only seen datacenter so far) then upgrade to release and purchase licenses, or is there something else that would be preferable?

Thanks!

2008 R2 and 2012 R2 are new operating systems that require you to purchase them. I believe 2012R2 has gone RTM recently, which means in a few months you should be able to get it.

There are a lot of VM improvements in 2012, and even more in 2012R2. If you're just running a basic setup it's not needed to hold out for, unless you're not under any time constraints, then why not. Here is a list of the major R2 features.

I'm not sure how well pfSense and Untange will run in a Hyper-V VM. The Gen 2 VM and improved Linux support of R2 may be needed for better operation.

Hello, I've read a few of the other posts but haven't been able to get it to work on mine yet. I'm getting the "no signed drivers were found" error when trying to install windows 7 64 bit on my new build. I don't have an old one to format the hard drive and partition it on. So my question is can I build a partition outside of the install or inside of the install? When I switch to ACHI(AHCI) which every one it is, and I go into advanced installation it gives me the option for new partition but there are 0 MB available to do this with. I've put my comp specs into my profile. Thanks in advance for your help.

P.S. When my old desktop crashed I had a working laptop so I has been years since I've had a 2nd desktop to work with.

Answer:No signed drivers were found on fresh install new build.

Put the Dvd in the computer when you get to the screen where it asks you where you want to install Windows . Hold down Shift and press F10 . You will then have a command prompt Window and type in these commands

   Note
Press < ENTER > after every command

Type DISKPART
Type LIST DISK
Type SELECT DISK 0

Type CLEAN

Type CREATE PRIMARY PARTITION
Type SELECT PARTITION 1
Type ACTIVE
Type FORMAT FS=NTFS LABEL="Windows 7" QUICK

Type ASSIGN LETTER=C

Type EXIT

Type EXIT

Then back in the Where to install Windows click on Refresh and you should see

Disk 0 Partition 1: Windows 7 C:

Highlight that and click on next .

   Note
If you don't want to use the entire hard drive you could type in CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=51200 that will create a 50GB partition

I am trying to replace the auto generated self-signed (Issued to DM, issued by DM) certificates for the HDPM Server and Master Repository.  I am NOT refereeing to FTPS, the HPDM Embedded HTTPS Server, or the Thin Client Agent certs.   I have already setup certs from our own domain internal CA for FTPS in IIS and the Apache Embedded HTTPS server.  These are working fine and Repository tests pass for both protocols.  I have also issues to the Thin Clients from our internal CA just fine. I'm interested in the actual HPDM Server cert and Master repository cert. These are self-generated when the two services start up.  They use a very weak MD5 hash and RSA 1024 key.  I cannot find any documentation around this except for troubleshooting in which you can delete these certs restart the services and they will be regenerated.   Here are the certs\key paths%HPDM Install Path%\MasterRepositoryController\Controller.crt (Repository Cert)%HPDM Install Path%\MasterRepositoryController\Controller.key (Repository Key)%HPDM Install Path%\MasterRepositoryController\Client.crt (HPDM Server Cert)%HPDM Install Path%\Server\Bin\hpdmskey.keystore (Both HPDM Server and Repository Certs and Keys)(Not sure the format it is in.  It's not PEM and ok P12 as far as I can tell) There is also %HPDM Install Path%\Server\bin\hpdmcert.key.  Not sure what this is.  Think it?s the HPDM Server key but deleting it does nothing and it is ne... Since I made the Move to 64-bit a while back, Every once in a while, I would run into a Problem where I needed to Install Driver that was Un-Signed.

As A Security measure in the 64-bit Versions of Vista/7, All Drivers must come with a Secure Digital Signature.

This is not a large problem anymore with the fact that Most Drivers are Signed nowadays. But Older Hardware Drivers tend not to be Signed.

There is a Simple way around this Block.

Open the Command Prompt in Admin Mode (Type "CMD" into the Start Menu and press "Ctrl+Shift+Enter")
Enter this Command: bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
Now when you Re-Boot, You should be able to Install those Pesky Un-Signed Drivers.

Hope it helped. (if so, +Rep is one of the best ways to thank)

Hi Benjamin,

We have a tutorial section for guides like this if you would like this thread moved there?

You can also install unsigned drivers by either self-signing the certificate or installing the one it came with, if it contained any digital certificate

H5321GW didnt have proper signed driver for Windows Server 2016. Why? On windows 10 the driver is working (Version 8.2.5.0 from 6/11/2015), i saved and pushed into the Windows Deployment System, but after under Windows Server 2016 didnt work, because of signature missing. When will be available updated driver for the mobile broadband?? .... And Bluetooth connect to PAN also dont have. (BTH\MS_BTHPAN)

Is this possible? I've got my free copy of server 08 and a 'older' spare PC that I'd like to install it on (I hope). Putting system requirements aside, is this attainable? The main thing that attracts me is the advertisement that server 08 can run php and asp.net side by side.

I've searched and looked around, but I haven't really found anything useful. That might be a sign...

Answer:Server 2008 as a Web Server/File Server/Print Server

I tested Server 2008 on an old HP Compaq nx9600 laptop (P4 3ghz, 512mb RAM, ATI Radeon Mobility X300) I had lying around in my cabinet in an attempt to practice migrating and upgrading WSS 2.0 from a 2003 server to WSS 3.0 on the 2008 server on the laptop. It ran slow as shit when the WMSDE database running lol.. but without it, it was as smooth as Win2003.

I say give it a try.

I am going be moving all the shared folders on my Server 2003 file server to my new Server 2008 VM and want to do it in a way that will allow my clients to be able to access them as if nothing happened. I have been reading about the Windows FSMT (File Server Migration Toolkit) http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=10268 and it will copy over all the permissions and everything but I am not sure how to go about making sure the client will still be able to access the shares especially if they have mapped any of them. If i change the IP and host name of the new machine to the old one after the migration is complete and then shutdown the old server will everything run smoothly? What is the best way to go about doing this?

Answer:Migrate Server 2003 file server shares to new machine (Server 2008)

you can do this or you can change DNS so that the old server name points to the new server IP. You need to turn off StrictNameChecking

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters]
"DisableStrictNameChecking"=dword:00000001

this means that you can name the server what ever you want but if you go to the old host name it will also take you to the new server.

Don't forget this needs to be completed and rolled out after the users log off but before they log back in

As old user move on and new users join make sure that you link them to the share via the new host name so eventually the old host name is fased out and you can remove the above reg key.

Question: Server 2012 R2

Hello everyone,

I'm in the process of updating our environment to Server 2012 R2 and I've also added (2) Hyper-V clusters (2-nodes each) and all is going amazingly well honestly.

My one issue however, is that I've re-built our file server but I can't seem to figure out how to re-build the structure that I had for the user home drives.

A brief run-down, I have FILE\HOME\%username% - the file share that is setup for this has Domain User permissions on the file structure (I think, I'm assuming that's the Permissions tab in 2012) and for the Share permissions I have it set to Everyone (full).

I'm not sure what I'm missing although I know it's a permissions thing - I want to set it up so that each user has permissions to their folder only - right now, they are getting permissions to all folders - although they don't know this as they're only seeing their own folders but they could easily navigate to the other users if they knew how.

Can someone run down what permissions needs to be setup for Server 2012 (most of what I can find are for Server 08).

Answer:Server 2012 R2

There may be a few missing details because each environment is different.
Create a folder that will hold the user home drives
Edit the NTFS permissions for that folder (security tab) and go into advanced, disable inherit and convert to explicit.
Remove Users group permissions

Add principal Domain User (or another group all your users are in) and set this folder only then add permissions read, list, read permissions, read extended attributes
Go back to advanced sharing and share the folder and give Full Control to Everyone group
Add DFS Namespaces and Replication (optional) under file and storage services role
Create a domain DFS root named whatever you want then add the share into that root
Select all users in ADDS and edit home profile, then point <drive letter> to \\domain\dfs\share\%username%
When you do this it will automatically assign user permissions when you type in the home drive and hit OK. I add read to the top level folder just so users don't get errors if they try to back out of their folder. They can't read anything just see the folders (you can even set it to they cannot see the folders but it's more complicated).

This system also works good because you can change file servers in the future without having to edit users again. You just add a new share with the same name to DFS and replicate everything over, then remove the old share.

Fooling around with a free win2012 r2 server and must have messed something up since I can't see it on the network anymore. I just can access the network shares through typing in its ip address but typing in its name it doesn't come up anymore.

I have it setup as just a simple workgroup and was fooling around with vpn since I wanted to learn that, I installed it and uninstalled it and now I can't see it on any of my computers attached to the network.

I also cannot remote login into it anymore with either the name or the ip address.

Any ideas?

Boy I feel dumb.

Question: Server 2012

Hi everyone,

Does someone can tell me where to find usefull and easy explained information?

Youtube. When I took my "Managing and Maintaining a Windows Server" course, nearly all the lecture material was on Youtube. I'll try and see if I can dig up the videos today. It sounds like you're going to want a simple domain with two domain controllers, and maybe some caching if the link between the two sites is slow.

I am useless with computers. I was able to access the internet for a couple of months through my ethernet cable, plugged in to the port at my university in my room. However, recently I haven't been able to get onto the internet, and get the message 'cannot to communicate with your primary DNS server (fe80::1c2a:3943:f118:8dd3%8)' also, i have noticed after doing ipconfig /all that my laptop has no physical address. I have contacted 4 different IT technicians at my university and they say its nothing to do with the port in my wall, however they are still unable to come up with a solution. I would greatly appreciate any help.

Answer:no physical address, no communication with primary DNS server

A big help would be some information.
Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

Name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
Make and exact model of the broadband modem.
Make and exact model and hardware version of the router (if a separate unit).
Model numbers can usually be obtained from the label on the device.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP (Home or Pro), SP1-SP2-SP3, Vista (Home, Business, Ultimate), etc.
The Internet Browser in use, IE, Firefox, Opera, etc.

Please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.

If you're using a wireless connection, have you tried a direct connection with a cable to see if that changes the symptoms?
For wireless issues, have you disabled all encryption on the router to see if you can connect that way?
Have you connected directly to the broadband modem to see if this is a router or modem/ISP issue?
If there are other computers on the same network, are they experiencing the same issue, or do they function normally?

On any affected computer, I'd also like to see this:

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt:

Type the following commands on separate lines, following each one with the Enter key:

PING 206.190.60.37

I have windows server 2012 installed on my vmware running ad, dhcp and dns.
after that I installed the client running windows 8.1.
but when I try to join the domain it says that the domain could not be found.
so I hit ipconfig in my cmd on the windows 8 and it didnt recieve any ip from my dhcp its ip address is169.254.153.23. so basicly my dhcp didnt give me any ip adress since my server is on 192.168.7.128 network subnetmask 255.255.255.192.
in the virtual machine setting I have both network adpters set on bridged: connected directly to the physical network.
when I open the dhcp on my server I have a red arrow pointing down on the ipv4 and ipv6 option but since I cannot ping my server at all I dont think its my dhcp but my vmware network.

I've been looking at these little tiny computers, and considering using one for a DNS, DHCP, and AD DC computer running Server 2012 R2. I might want to run other things on it too, as I go along.

What I'm reading though, in reviews, is that they aren't particularly reliable, and some seem to die. Are there any that do better than others that you would recommend for such a purpose? Any particular processor that is better?

Thanks!

Hi,

Here at work we just spun up a Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Standard machine.
We are trying to install an application and for some reason when we double click the exe nothing happens at all on the screen.

We go to the even viewer and an event_id = 1000 is captured.

At first we tried to install an app made by CA, so we thought it was due to the version not being compatible, as the exe opens in 2008.

Today we attempted to install a different program all together and same exact thing is happening.

The CA tool is packaged using InstallAnywhere
This next exe is packaged using InstallJammer

Is there anything within the Server 2012 OS that could prevent these from launching? Or a workaround?

I've tried to run as Amin, run in compatibility mode, and not success.

This is what i'm getting for both in the event viewer:
Exception Code: 0xc0000005
EventID: 1000
Application Error

At this point now idea what to do

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

-Sergio

Hi, I would like to connect my Server 2012 machine to a new, second network which will only be used for local file sharing with no internet access passing through this second network. My main network is 192.168.1.x/255.255.255.0. The second network will run on a second NIC on the machine with IP 192.168.2.1/255.255.255.0.

This second network is really just one other Windows Server 2012 machine which also has two NIC's; setup the same as above, but with .1.2 and .2.2 and same masks.

The .1.x network works fine, and I can ping between the two machines in the .2.x network. However, file sharing does not work. I think it is because Windows detects this network as Public and Unidentified.

Can someone help me with a solution to this?

The reason why I am doing this is because the NIC's in the .2.x network are infiniband cards that I would like to utilize for a high speed connection between the two machines for backup purposes.

Much appreciated!

Setting up my first 2012R2 RDS server, is there a way to configure one desktop so that its the same for all users. On 2008R2, what ever shortcuts or modifications you made to the admin desktop were seen by all RDS users when they logged in, doesn't seem to be that way for 2012R2.

That's actually not the case. This aspect hasn't changed between 2008 R2 and 2012 R2.

You want to talk this two different ways:
1. If you want icons to appear on the desktop, you can place them on the all users desktop.
2. You'll want to create a default profile so when new users log into the machine, they receive the profile that you created for them.

I have just installed Windows 8/8.1 - first time user
I just installed SQL Server 2012 and rebooted.

I can't find where SQL Server management studio is located. I've looked on the start screen and I've looked on the Desktop. I can't find an Icon to run it anywhere.

Any ideas?

Answer:Can't see SQL Server 2012 icons

While in the Start screen type "sql" and see if anything pops up. If so, and it's what your looking for, pin it to the Start screen.

I set up server 2012 this weekend and I'd like to add the VPN role so I can get to my home network from work. I use a pci Intel nic in it for the internal network. Would it be better to use the onboard nic for the vpn and a second ip address? Or does it matter since I have to use port forwarding on my router?

Answer:VPN access w/ server 2012

I would say a single NIC and then let your router handle everything else, unless the server is doing some intense throughput that you need the second NIC for.
