I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, My company recently purchased a dual 4k setup for a work station. The setup is the following:2 ThinkVision P27 monitorsLenovo ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 DockT570 (Type: 20HA) I setup the monitors and docking station yesterday and was able to power the displays using a X1 Carbon 5th gen (i5 model type: 20HQ) thru USB-C without issue. I have a user testing out the desk now with a T570. I'm able to get one monitor to funtion at 4K and the other is running at 1080p. If you check display settings I'm unable to increase the resolution to 4K. I've updated all drivers on the T570 including the display driver and thunderbolt docking station driver this morning and the system still fails to power dual 4K. I brought back the X1 I used previously and it powers the screens normally. I checked the specs of the T570 and its identical to the X1 as far as processor is concerned and the model page claims the USB-C port on the T570 can power dual 4K. What else can I try?

So I have a Precision 5510 laptop with Xeon processor, no 4K screen.  My question is about this thunderbolt dock TB16.  I have one HDMI out and was asked if I can make that work on 3 external monitors.  None are 4K.  Is that possible?  Can it function as extended desktop, not duplicated? And if so, is that 3 external plus laptop? Or is the laptop screen on of the 3?

I want to buy the Lenovo Yoga 920 (i7 with 16 GB) and I?m used to work with 3 external full HD Monitors. Since it has 2 Thunderbolt ports, it looks like the Thunderbolt 3 Dock may work with the 920. However, it is not listed on the compability list for the dock. Therefore: are the dock and the 920 working together?

I seem to be having a problem with my Yoga 720 15" and the Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 Dock.    Every once in a while the screens blank out and then return.   Sometimes I get a Topology Has Changed message when this happens and all my windows scramble.   Sometimes they all go to the laptop and sometimes they dispurse amongst my two monitors. Anyone else experience problems with this configuration? All of my drivers are updated except BIOS because apparently it does not like the fact that I installed my own version of Windows 10 instead of leaving the one that came with it.....but that is another issue. I could not find anything regarding updating the Thunderbolt 3 Dock firmware.    Here is what I have on my Thunderbolt driver:

Answer:Yoga 370 & Thunderbolt 3 Dock monitor issue

Solution: Settings were changed in the Intel graphics settings AUTOMATICALLY for one display - one colour value has been set to a wrong value. As Im the only one working with this machine its kind of weird - Ive nevr been to the additional intel graphic settings before.

In the last month I purchased a Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2G and the Thuderbolt USB C dock. Since the USB C cable that comes with the dock is too short to allow the dock on the right and laptop on the left (in laptop mode), I put the notebook in tent mode and all works fine---except... Everytime I power up from hibernate it starts beeping about once a second and does not stop. I have to disconnect from the dock, flip it to laptop mode (this is where the beeping stops), return it to tent mode, and then plug the dock back in. It seems that Lenovo, like everybody else, is rushing things to market with plans to fix bugs later (maybe). Any thoughts I how to stop the beeping?  The first time it happened I closed all the apps to reboot and it still was beeping. Thanks.

Good morning, Got my brand new Yoga X1 2nd gen notebook together with the Thunderbolt 3 dock. I've a problem with the dock. When I connect it, it is recognized but I get a warning that the notebook is not charged and that I should connect the correct charger to the docking station. Moreover, when I connect an external display to the dock (via DP), the external display is not recognized, nor in the display settings nor can I manage to get a singal to the external monitor. I have installed the latest BIOS for the notebook (v. 1.10), latest Thunderbolt firmware and Thunderbolt drivers. I have rebooted serveral times, uninstalled, re-installed, disconnected etc.... to no avail. Anyone experiencing the same? Any solutions? Regards George

After a long series op updates and firware upgrades we still encounter much trouble with the HP Thunderbolt Dock's Recently (7-2-2017) we installed a new HP ZBook G3. We always reinstall our ZBook G3's with a 'clean installation' of Windows 10 and the required HP Drivers. After adding de required software on this laptop our nightmare begins... Unable to attach usb keyboard or mouse on the Thunderbolt Dock and after rebooting a few times even windows crashes.Once you detach the dock, the coputer will eventually start again and will work as it should.Any attempt to unload update drivers and reinstall have no effect. After contacting HP support we received a link Troubleshoot Thunderbolt 3 Dock.In this document they descrbe a specific order in which to install you drivers. Since we already tried this in all our previous problems with the dock, i was getting somewhat despirate...Untill yesterday where i stumbled upon a message on the HP forum including the use of Citrix Client Software which happens to be so in our case. After a clean installtion of Windows 10 and installing the drivers in the required order like described in the Thoubleshooting documentation the Zbook and thunderbolt dock both work fine. Then i installed the citrix receiver 4.6 software and al my troubles were back after a reboot. I removed the Citrix Client and now everything works perfectly. The next challence is to get Citrix working again........... I have an HP Zbook Thunderbolt 3 dock on my HPZbook G3.  I recently updated the BIOS and firmware to the latest version to fix other "dock" issues.  Am now at the latest for both.  The dual monitors and ethernet over the Thunderbolt 3 work, but none of the USB ports are active. I'm certain the USB ports work, becuase they used to work prior to the BIOS and firmware update.  Neither keyboard, mouse, or USB memory work in the dock. I've tried going to HP support and installing any of the updates with USB in it, but it hasn't worked.  I have a workaround--just plugging in to the notebook directly, but would like to get my dock fully functional. The Device manager doesn't show any devices with issues.  I'll try to update, but I don't know which one to look at.

My IT guy had two external monitors connected to the dock via the displayport and DVI and the Yoga screen itself was still functional. Is it possible to add a third external monitor somehow?A) Can I plug-in one additional external monitor via the mini hdmi on the Yoga?B) Daisy chain 3 off of the displayport on the dock?C) Use a Displayport to 2x DVI adapter and connect two that way and a third to the existing DVI? I am fine if the Yoga screen itself is rendered nonfunctional if I have three external monitors connected. Any other limitations I should be aware of (ie. what wil the resolution be limited to on each)?  Thank you!

I'm unable to get my X1 Yoga to detect external monitors when plugged into the OneLink+ dock. This started occuring when my computer upgraded to the creators update. I thought I found a thread of others with the same issue (linked below), but it turns out I was waiting for a fix that didn't apply to me. I'm super frustrated right now. Stuff I've tried so far.1. Updated all drivers using Lenovo Service Bridge (even optional drivers)2. Installed the Fall Creators update preview (after being told it would fix the issue)3. Completely reinstalled Windows4. A Single VGA monitor5. A Single Display Port Monitor6. 6 different cables At this point I'm convinced there's an issue with the dock. There's a firmware update available for it, but you can't install it unless it is actively connected to a monitor (go figure).  When attempting to install, I get the code 255 "Can't connect to Synaptics VMMxxxx DP hub IC" If anyone has any sugestions, I'd greatly appreciate it. It used to work perfectly, then about the time I installed the creators update it started getting flaky, now I can't get it to work at all. Previous thread I was following. Note that I'm linking to a post where they show the dock working (annoying).https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T400-T500-and-newer-T/Windows-10-creator-update-breaks-Lenovo-...

Hy, so I recently bought a new Yoga Pro 2. Had to downgrade it from Windows 8.1 to Windows 7, because some of the programs I really needed, wouldn't support Windows 8. Also added Belkin Video Dock to my setup to have 2 external monitors running at home. And there is the problem. While connecting 2 external monitors, resolution for them are 1920x1080 (Dell 24") the picture is ok but when I try to play videos from hard drive or flash ones from youtube etc, screen freezes from time to time and the picture on external monitors gets "blurry". At the same time laptot itself picture stays ok. I have one monitor from dvi output and the other one from display port, these are the two for Belkin's dock.Read the topic about multiple monitors, but noone had the problem while running 2 externals with Belkin's dock. To me, it seems, that my video can't handle it, because while unplugging one external monitor, I can load/watch the video files without a problem and everything is perfect. But Intel video should have the power to run 2 externals also, at least I think so? Things I've done thus far:*Installed software from http://www.displaylink.com/support/downloads.php, because Windows 7 couldn't auto handle plugnplay with the dock.*Updated Intel video drivers to the newest ones.*Tried unplugging one external to see how it can handle only 1 external screen (worked perfectly). **Also when unplugging and then replugging dock usb into Yoga Pro2, the picture on external monitors... I have been experiencing issues with my USB keyboard on my XPS15 9550 w/TB16 Dock when the Logitech G610 USB keyboard is plugged into TB16 USB 2.0 port in the back.
The keyboard will hang, accepting no input. or may hang on a certain letter, thus producing an "aaaaaaaa" across the screen until the keyboard "comes back".
Keyboard seems to work fine while plugged directly into the XPS15 rather than the TB16.
I also have an external USB drive for backups that I use connected to the TB16, although seems to be functioning fine. I have not had a backup fail, so, I assume it is working fine.
I have tried downloading all of the drivers, and re-installing them in the proper order according to the documentation while disconnected from the TB16, and then connecting to the dock.

Is anyone else experiencing a similar issue?  Is it the dock or the 9550?

Answer:USB Keyboard Hangs/Quits working on XPS15 9550 and Thunderbolt Dock TB16 . W10Pro x64

If you happen to run Citrix Receiver, make sure you're running at least version 4.9, since earlier versions are known to cause USB issues with the TB16, although that typically presents as the USB ports not working at all.  If not, then there was also an issue with intermittent USB device disconnects that was eventually solved through a combination of drivers and firmware, so when you say you've downloaded all of the drivers, please confirm that includes:
- BIOS
- Thunderbolt firmware
- Thunderbolt software
- ASMedia USB Host Controller driver

Hi Everyone, I am using a Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 14 (20DM-CT01WWS) with a ThinkPad OneLink Pro Dock. Up until today the dock / laptop have been working fine with two external, Dell UltraSharp, monitors. In fact my current configuration has been flawless for about 3 months. However today when I started my laptop I noticed that neither external monitor would start up.  I am using the ThinkPad software version 1.08.36, on a Windows 10 Computer. Any help with getting my external monitors working again would be great. Kind Regards, David

Answer:Yoga / OneLink dock no longer able to detect external monitors?

Hi

Checking some of the forum comments about OneLink Pro dock, maybe I can suggest some things.

- You are using the latest drivers of the Onelink Pro, but also check the firmware update.
https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/pd029981

- Some users had found that sometimes testing other cables, or adapters can work with some issues with the display. Maybe if you have some other cables you can give it a try.

- I'm just reading that the TP Yoga 14 had a BIOS update to support OneLink (since version 1.18). Maybe it can help to check your TP Bios version and update the latest one.

This are just some thoughts.

Regards

Hello all, As the Yoga 720 15'' has only one Thunderbolt port, with no other ports for connecting more displays, I'm looking for a solution for connecting two monitors through this single port. The problem is that the Thunderbolt 3 to dual DisplayPort adapters do not seem to be working on this laptop for some reason according to threads on this forum. (although it has the appropriate hardware I suppose?)I saw a solution using the Lenovo Thunderbolt Dock, but it's quite expensive... I thought to myself: suppose I have two monitors that supported DisplayPort daisy chaining, could I use this ability and connect them to the laptop? Connecting one monitor directly to the laptop, and then connecting the other monitor to the first one using daisy chaining. Like so:Yoga -> Thunderbolt to DispalyPort adapter -> Monitor 1 -> DisplayPort -> Monitor 2.  I couldn't find any info about this method (only that it is possible on the XPS 15 which also has Thunderbot with two lanes only...)  Have someone already tried this method? Or could try it? (pretty please... )Or could at least tell me if it is possible? I'm really looking forward to buying this laptop and this is the main reason that stops me...  Note: I am aware about the bandwith limitations. I plan to use only two 2K displays. Thank you!

Hi there, I am connecting a S1 TP Yoga with my Dell U2312HM via OneLink Dock Pro DVI. My OS is Windows 8.1.On my laptop screen I would like to have a scaling level of 125%, on my Dell monitor a scaling of 100%. Normally it is possible by choosing "let me choose one scaling level for all my display" in the display settings. But I can only set the scaling level for all monitors, not a distinct setting for each monitor like it is supposed to be.Is there an issue with the drivers?

I have the exact same equipment at home and at work and yet the resolution on my second monitor at work will not go to the 3840 x 2160 that I have at home. Both locations have:1. X1 Yoga (first gen, model number 20FQ002YUS) -- It's the same laptop that I take between home and work2. ThinkPad OneLink+ Dock (model number DU9047S1)3. Two (2) Asus monitors (model number PB287Q) that go to 3840 x 2160 max resolution, connected to the OneLink+ Dock via DiplayPort cables I've been running this configuation with NO PROBLEM at home for the past 9 months.  So I recently purchased a new OneLink+ Dock and two new monitors for my work office and while one monitor will go to 3840 x 2160, the other will not go above 1920 x 1080, UNLESS, I use a mini DisplayPort cable from the second monitor directly into the X1 Yoga (bypassing the OneLink+ Dock) HERE'S WHAT'S BAFFLING: I assumed it was the dock and so I brought the one from home to work and found I had the SAME problem, suggesting it was the second monitor.   But I exchanged the second monitor for a new one and still have the same problem.  The docks are running the most current firmware. I'll send a gift card to your favorite coffee house if you can solve this mystery.  Thanks!

Hello! I'm having issues with connecting two external monitors (one using HDMI and one using DVI) via the docking station to my brand new T440. When I use VGA to connect one of those monitors, while the second monitor remains HDMI or DVI, I have no problem - the computer recognizes both of them and I am able to extend my desktop. However, when I don't use VGA and connect both external monitors using HDMI and DVI, the computer can see only one of them (HDMI). All of the drivers and firmware is up to date. Is this an inherent limitation of the machine, or am I missing something? Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have!

Hi,

When I connect Thinkpad Yoga (model 20CD00B1US) to the onelink dock, the stylus stops working.

In order to enable the stylus and Wacom driver following 2 options/ workarounds:
1)  Manually stop and restart the Wacom ISD Service
2) or reboot the machine while the Onelink dock is attached.

I'm using the latest 7.2.0-4 Wacom driver version, all latest lenovo software installed installed on the machine.

Both above mentioned workarounds are ugly, does anybody have a better suggestion to fix this issue?

The laptop LCD works correctly (2880x1620), the 30" LCD works correctly with the display port to DVI active adapter (2560x1600), and one of the 24" LCDs works correctly (1920x1200). However, the other 24" LCD isn't available in Windows as a detected display unless I start swapping cables, which will then enable it while disabling the other 24" LCD. For reference, the connections are as follows: Laptop LCD (built-in)30" LCD: DisplayPort to DVI (active); Ultra Dock DisplayPort 024" LCD number 1: DisplayPort to DVI cable (passive); Ultra Dock DisplayPort 124" LCD number 2: DVI to DVI; Ultra Dock DVI Port 0It's my understanding that the K1100M discrete graphics card should be driving all three of the external displays, but that isn't the case right now. I see one 24" and the 30" displays in the Nvidia Control Panel and I see all three working monitors (including the laptop LCD) in botht he... Read more

Answer:Ultra dock + three external monitors not working

I'm struggling with a very similar problem. (Thinkpad W540, K2100, Ultradock 170W) I am using 2 external monitors right now in bios display standard mode - it's the only way they work at all for me right now. I have tried uninstalling graphics drivers, enabling advanced mode, and restarting, but none of the external displays are detected. I've also tried updating the dock's firmware, but it doesn't seem to be updating (this may have already been updated). Current working setup:- 2 x 22" external LCDs connected to Ultradock via DP -> DVI cables- Laptop integrated LCD Related but not quite as equally frustrating, the integrated LCD does not resume when waking the computer from a sleep state. Only a reboot brings the display back. I'd like to connect another 24" display over HDMI, but don't have any confidence of it working since advanced mode is utterly worthless for me at the moment. I'm quite dissatisfied especially since I purchased an extended warranty and last time I called for support Lenovo tried to sell me an additional support plan claiming that software was not covered under my current warranty.

I have a W530 (2436CTR) and it spends about 90% of it's time connected to a dock (ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 with USB 3.0 ? 170W, 433835U) and as of last Sunday, it's become completely useless. I was using the computer all day last Saturday with no issues. It was connected to the dock with both external monitors on, and it was working jsut fine.  This is the way it's been setup for the last 2 years, and has always worked as expected. I came down sunday morning to work, and the primary monitor and laptop screen were flashing on/off.When I logged in (fingerprint swipe) they continued to flash - it seemed the primary external monitor was connecting/disconnecting, which made the computer completely unusable as every other second it would try to transition between external monitor and laptop screen, causing the mouse to jump and windows to lose focus.  Made it impossible to use. Nothing, to my knowledge, changed between Saturday and Sunday. The computer and monitors were left unchanged and untouched phsyically, and no updates were scheduled, so I'm not sure what could have caused everything to go suddenly haywire. I googled this and it seems to be a fairly common problem, however I have been unable to find a solution. So far, I've tried, in the order listed:Updated to latest video card driver.Uninstalled recent windows updates.Removed old SSD, installed a brand new never formatted or used prior SSD, installed a fresh copy of windows 10 on new SS... I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro hooked to a Think Pad 3.0 Dock and use two external Dell Monitors.  Everything worked fine for quite awhile, then one day while working the external monitors stopped and are no longer identified or detected.   I replaced all of the cables and insured all of the drivers are up-to-date.  I also confirmed that both monitors still work on another computer.  I borrowed another Think Pad Dock to see if the dock may have fried, but the new one does not work either.Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Hello Community, I have a new Yoga 260 with Win7 Enterprise x64.The issue I am having is the ethernet is not being recognized while the Onelink+ dock is plugged in. I have tried another dock and same results. I also have a separate ethernet adapter which I can use but plugs into the same port as the dock. When the ethernet adapter is plugged in I am able to use ethernet. So, the problem only exists when plugged into the dock. I looked through the BIOS but didn't see too much in the way of USB configuration changes. Also, in device manager the Onelink+ dock has a yeild sign and says cannot find the driver. I have tried to install the driver from OEM and it says the driver is already up to date. If anyone needs more info please let me know. Any help would earn you 1000 internets?

Hi, I have just received the HP Elite Thunderbolt 3 65W USB-C Dock. I have plugged it in, and my Elite X2 1012 G1 charges, but that is all. None of the ports are working. Monitor is not recognised either. If I plug my phone in via the USB port, it will charge, but not recognise it as a storage device. I have searched everywhere, and cannot find drivers that will resolve this issue. I have:- Thunderbolt software installed, and running, but still to no avail.- Installed and run "Intel Thunderbolt Firmware Update Utility", but get an error that there is no controller driver. Please help. ps. The machine was reimaged with a corporate SOE. So I am not sure if I am missing drivers.

So here is a new one:  I have a Yoga 910 that has had many networking issues. It appears that if I unplug the computer from my USB-C dock (the dock still has power), the dock network connection freezes my router. This is repeatable, and annoying. As soon as I powered down the dock (by unplugging it), the router starts working. I am using an ASUS RT-AC5300 "mother of all routers" (when I bought it), and it has been rock solid until I started with my new Yoga. It is running the latest firmware, and I have updated the firmware on the dock as well. Ideas?

I have a T420 that I'm using with a Mini Dock Series 3 - 90W 433710U docking station.  I'm trying to connect to two external monitors (both HP 1965's) using the DVI and VGA outputs on the docking station.  From the VGA output, I'm running a VGA (M) to DVI (M) into my monitor.  I can only get either the DVI or VGA outputted monitors to work by themselves, but not together.  When I connect both external displays, it will switch off one of the external monitors (the first one connected).     Both are verified working as external monitors with the T420, just not at the same time.  When using the DVI output, I can get dual monitors to work using the ThinkPad display as one monitor and the DVI-connected external monitor as the second.  Is there a way to connect to two external monitors from a T420 with a Mini Dock Series 3 - 90W 433710U docking station?  Or do you a multi-monitor adapater, such as an Cirago HDX3DV01 to do that?

Hello and welcome,

I can't answer your question directly  but looking at the base spec, the implication is USB-C but not Thunderbolt, single external display supported.

What resolutions and refresh rates are supported for external monitors (HDMI) on the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro i7 (59428032) Specifically, I'm looking at the Samsung 28" 4K Ultra HD Widescreen Monitor (U28D590D) [3840 x 2160] I've hooked up to my HP w2408h monitor (1920x1200) with mixed results (mostly unacceptable).  Most items (icons, images) appear quite large and cropped.  For some applications (such as the View/trim preview window in GoPro Studio) appear to be cropped to about 1/4 of the image (if you imagine an image split into 4 quadrents, only the top left is visible). I had hoped that I could use the Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro both as an extremely portable notebook and a desktop (when connected to an external monitor, keyboard & mouse).  I'm beginning to doubt that this will work.

Answer:Supported external monitors on Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro

While i can't offer any insight on a 4K monitor as i dont have one myself, I can tell you that is works perfectly on a 25" monitor at 1920x1080, and everything looks perfect, exactly as it is when connected to my desktop. I'd suggest that after connecting the external monitor you enter the resolution settings, make sure the second monitor is set as 'Extended monitor' and that the resolution for it is set to its native resolution. Aside from that, if you're working with the Yoga's native resolution (3200x1800), then you probably have the DPI set to 200%, which will also affect external monitors, making some things look pretty bad. There is no magic solution for this case, either drop the resolution and lower the DPI, or.... as much as i hate to say it... get used to it... sorry. I personally dropped the resolution on my yoga and lowered the DPI, so i'm good both with the yoga screen and my external monitor when at home.

Hello everyone,  I would like to connect 3 external monitors to Yoga 260. I found out that conection of 3 external displays is feasible. It is associated with turning off the native LCD, whcich is OK for me. I would like to use ThinkPad OneLink+ Dock (40A40090XX). The docking station has 2 DP and 1 VGA. The issue is I'd rather use 2 DP from docking station and one DP which is on board Yoga instead of VGA. Is such configuration possible? I would like to figure it out before I will buy the station. I've found document: https://support.lenovo.com/uu/en/documents/pd029622 , but there is nothing on using docking stations' DP and native DP in one configuration, simultaneously. Whether it is because on board DP will be disabled? The alternative is MST (eg. http://www.club-3d.com/index.php/products/reader.en/product/multi-stream-transport-mst-hub.html). Both devices are at a comparable price, and if I had confidence that the docking station will work with onboard DP simultaneously, I would choose it.  Thank you in advance, best regardsM

Answer:Yoga 260 + ThinkPad OneLink+ Dock = 3 working Disp...

Since no one has replied, I would like close this discussion.  Still someone might benefit for the information, that: - I have purchased and tested ThinkPad OneLink+ Dock- it works with 3 external monitors using 2 DP from docking station and one mini-DP from Yoga itself- working configuration is as follows: 2 displays are connected to OneLink+ Dock with one active DP to DVI converter, one passive DP to DVI converter and the last one (Yogas? port) with active mini-DP to DVI converter- I didn?t try to use for example 2 or 3 passive DP to DVI converters (but I guess that 2 should do the job, but 3 will probably won?t work)- when OneLink+ Dock is attached, the HDMI port in Yoga is not working! (the information one can also find in BIOS, but no materials on-line) Best regards,Maciej

Question: thunderbolt dock

HP ZBook Dock with Thunderbolt 3 usb device issues. USB Keyboard randomly sends a stream of a repeated character.  I will be typing and mid worrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr d will get results like in the word above.  The inverse happens alot too, were it just drops a few characters i have typed. USB Mouse lag is horrible. Both devices will stop functioning, need to reboot the dock to recover them. Any one have any suggestions or which drivers are the most stable?

Answer:thunderbolt dock

#HPExpertDayYou will have to update BIOS/Firmware if any. Install the docking station drivers. Try using a different keyboard, if the issue stops then issue was with keyboard.http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph07165

Love the concept of the thunderbolt 3 dock, can't fathom how it was designed though.  On my zBook 15 G3, the power and thunderbolt ports are on the right side of the laptop.  The dock has the cable port on the left rear side, completely crossing over all the ports when you put the dock on a desk with the back facing away from  you.  Then they ship a cable that is barely long enough to put the dock directly behind the laptop and connect it.   Where do I buy a longer cable HP, please!

Relevance 65.19%

As the only docking solution available and moving from a more traditional dock, its less than suitable.  HP needs to make a longer cable and the end that connects to the laptop should be at a right angle.  The cable is so stiff and thick it takes nearly 4" to make the turn.  HP makes it impossible to find this out how long the cable is with out purchasing and at that point your stuck with it.  Hardly a customer satisfaction issue they should want to propigate!

This is mainly when the notebook is at the thunderbolt docking station.I found out, that as soon as I connect my notebook to the docking station more or less all app-processes suddenly move over and start running on the GPU. The CPU has virtually no load. Why do all processes start to run on GPU when the notebook is connected to the dock? Is this an issue or is there a good reason for this behaviour? My Notebook and Windos has the latest drivers/bios and updates installed.Regards,Sebastian

Hi,I have a Thinkpad P50 and today my Dell Thunderbolt Dock arrived.Unfortunately, it doesn't work  (= it is not recognized in any way), although Dell specifically says that the dock also works with non-Dell Thunderbolt 3 machines. I have installed the Thunderbolt software from the P50's driver site and updated to BIOS 1.17.Lenovo released an "Intel Alpine Ridge Thunderbolt Firmware" for the P70. But there's no such firmware update on the P50's site, just the Intel Thunderbolt Software from November. The 1.17 UEFI/BIOS Update says it fixed a Thunderbolt issue, but apparently not mine Has anyone ever gotten some Thunderbolt 3 device working on the P50? I just hope this will be fixed soon, because the Thunderbolt dock seems to be the only convenient way to drive three 4K displays with the P50 (2 via Thunderbolt 3, 1 via miniDP).

I recently purchased a Dell Thunderbolt dock for my Precision 3520. I hooked up my Logitech universal receiver to the Thunderbolt dock. The mouse and keyboard have significant lags (the keyboard repeats itself periodically). As soon as I move the receiver back to the laptop, the lags disappear. The problem is so bad that the mouse and keyboard are basically unusable when plugged into the Thunderbolt dock.

Has anyone else experienced this issue with either a Dell or other brand Thunderbolt dock? Have you been able to resolve it?

Answer:Dell Thunderbolt Dock

The Thunderbolt is for displays and such, not for the keyboard or mouse. Having the USB-C ports there are for faster speeds to SSD's, etc.. You do not need it if you are not going to use 4K/UHD displays, which is what the technology ws created for.

Sometime soon USB may go away if Apple keeps pushing the Beige Box manufacturers to go that route, which will never happen, because the Beige Box manufacturers thought that Firewire was a joke and now we do not see it used much anymore.

As for lags, check the drivers and try to keep the Keyboard and mouse attached to the physical computer, not a dock that is used for 4k tv's.

The Intel ethernet is the built in and the Broadcom NetXtreme is the ethernet in the dock. HP has drivers for both on the support page for Windows 10 64 bit under the Zbook G3 Home page.  I did have a bit of a struggle initially getting the dock to work but I went into the BIOS and disabled all Thunderbolt security settings. I have a HP Zbook Thunderbolt 3 Dock, 150W (part number p5q58aa#aba).  It is connected to an HP Zbook Studio G3 running an intel core i7-6700HQ CPU. I have two HP EliteDisplay E231i displays connected to the display port ports on the dock, and am also using the Zbook's own display.   Intermittently, the displays will go black for a few minutes then turn back on.  Also, intermittently the dock will seem to disconnect and I loose my displays as well as the ethernet on the dock.  When this occurs I must restart to restore dock functionality. I have the latest driver (ASMedia eXtensible Host Controller (xHCI) Driver 1.16.38.1 Rev.A) and firmware (ASMedia ASM1042A Firmware Update for HP Thunderbolt 3 Dock 131025.10.11.23 Rev.A). Any tips as to how I can get more consistent performance out of this dock?  It is kind ruining the experience of an otherwise fantastic notebook.

I recently purchased the X1 CRBON 5TH Gen (2017)...type 20HR plus a thunderbolt dock.I connected them together with a Dell 28" 4K (@30Hz) screen (p2815q) connected through DisplayPort from the dock, plus a Microsoft keyboard and Jabra 510 USB speakerphone.Using the Windows 10 stock image from Lenovo, plus Office 2016, Chrome, Visual Studio, Skype,  and various other apps (putty, RDP, SAP GUI, others) the video performance was atrociously bad. Alt-Tab, which I use heavily would take 3-4 seconds to respond, switching between applications, Windows would freeze and sometimes crash, I would often get blank or black windows in Chrome and Office. This was on the embedded Thinkpad screen as well as the external monitor.I ensured Windows Update was up to date, as well as Bios, Drivers etc through the Lenovo companion app. So...I dove into the BIOS and voila! There is a switch that lets me change the Video memory from 256 to 512 MB allocated!I went to change it, and it would not change until I changed the setting:BIOS > Config > Thunderbolt 3 > Security Level = from "User Authority" to "DisplayPort and USB"I switched that setting, and then set my video memory to 512 MB, rebooted and voila! Problem solved. I worked that way for a little while, took it into my office and plugged it back into my Thunderbolt 3 dock and while my video and LAN connections worked...my wireless keyboard (USB dongle), and Jabra 510 did not. Issue 1I purchased the ZBook Studio G3 + 2 months wait on the Thunderbolt 3 Dock to primarily connect 2 4K Samsung monitors.  When connected via the display port one will display at 4k while the other will only display @ 2560X1440.  I had bought a a couple of CableMatters thunderbolt 3 X display port adapters while waiting on the dock.  If I plug one of the monitors in using the adapter and the other into the display port both will display 4K.Anybody else having this issue? Issue 2After the computer goes to sleep only one monitor will wake up.  The NVDIA control panel still shows both connected.  Only way to get the second monitor awake is to shutdown and reboot. Issue 3I have the displays configured to go blank after 1 hour.  Once this occurs and I enter my password all of my open programs are displayed on one screen rather than on both.  This would be normal if you have undocked and re-docked a laptop. Issue 4If the laptop is opened while docked. One display goes blank and one is duplicated with the laptop screen.  This is not typical docked behavior.  I moved from an  Elitebook 8540W with dock.  I'm really questioning my whether this was an upgrade.

I can't update my dock since it gives an error every time I try to update. I tried manual updates but BIOS files never show up, I think the problem lies with my service code not being in the system.
I tried entering the service tag and express service tag but it says it's not a valid product. If I provide the service tag and express service tag on this forum, would it be entered in the system so to speak? I also get critical updates and when I click update, an error occurs so my dock is not in sync with my XPS in terms of drivers. When I try to do manual updates, I'm only given 3 files and can't find bios files anywhere.

everybody.I'm trying to find the correct thunderbolt 3 dock station for my new Specter x360 . I noticed that HP has 2 dock stations offered for the Zbook. However, the wire from the dock station to the laptop is a dual USB-C & power jack.1. If I will buy a standalone thunderbolt cable, will it work with my Specter x360 and the Zbook dock ?2. I noticed there are 2 models of the Zbook dock : 150W and 200W . Which one should I get, if at all? Thanks for your help!

Just got purchased the x1 carbon 5th gen along with the Thunderbolt 3 dock.  However, the dock will not charge the laptop.  Every time I get the error message "The dock is not supplying enough power to your computer.  Please use the ac power adapter that came with the dock".  I am, in fact, using the ac adapter that came with the docking station.  I have updated the bios as well as all of the other recommended updates and still get the same error message.  Does anyone have a solution?

I just received my HP ZBook Studio and Thunderbolt Dock. I updated all drivers and BIOS. However, there is no internet connection through ethernet when I connect RJ45 to the dock. Am I missing something? Is it possible to have hardware related problem? Thanks,

Answer:Re: Ethernet on thunderbolt dock won't work

I am posting this through a Zbook G3 connected to a Thunderbolt dock with ethernet connected to the dock ethernet. Did you specifically install the package of dock drivers? Are you seeing crippled devices in device manager?

With the issues of USB port enumeration apparently resolved, I've started rolling out zBook 15 G3s to our users.  I've discovered in doing so that the dock does not appear to support Wake-on-LAN.  Is there an option to enable this functionality or perhaps is this functionality on the roadmap to be added in a future firmare release? Thanks, Stan

I've set up my Thunderbolt 3 dock. I notice in the status, it shows "94% available (plugged in, not charging)". It has been like this for the past two days. Does the battery have to reach a certain threshold, before charging? Or is this normal? My last dock, with the 8570W would always charge to 100%.

Hello,

I have here two Lenovo Yoga 2 13 which initialy run with Windows 8.1. After the Windows 10 Upgrade this two laptops starts to throw the BSOD 133. There is no way to replicate the BSOD. The two laptops can work for a week without the BSOD and the next week the BSOD 133 happens every second day and after this it works again for a few days. It happens when the laptop is in use or when it just stand there - I didn't see any thing which is always the same so I could say this triggers the BSOD.
I made a clean install (removed everything - partitions and so on) of Windows 10 Home on one of this two Yogas. But the bluescreen wasn't fixed. Same like before. Bluescreenview tells me always the same drivers: igdkmd64.sys or hal.dll or hdaudbus.sys and always ntoskrnl.exe. I updated the sound and gfx driver and tweaked the energy settings but nothing what I try helps. Did I miss something in the minidump files and another driver is the problem?

Thank you
Thomas

Answer:BSOD 133 from time to time on two Lenovo Yoga 2 13

Hi hitzi,

Welcome to the 10forums

Please check Lenovo for driver updates for the touchpad drivers for the Windows 10 Home system, per the dumps and WER logs the Synaptics drivers look to be causing the crashes.

Please upload logs from the DM Log Collector for the Windows 10 Pro system, analysis for each system is required as 2 systems having the same BSODs does not mean the causes are the same.

Please fill in your system specsPlease follow this tutorial and download the tool. The tool will give you detailed information about your system specs, please fill in your system specs more completely including PSU, cooling and other used stuff like mouse, keyboard, monitor, case, etc.
The PSU, cooling and other stuff are NOT mentioned in the tool. How to fill in your system specs:

So I have got the 65W Thunderbolt 3 dock. And it works great. The one issue I have is when I plug in devices in the USB ports which requires a bit of power, like charing the wireless mouse, or connect a phone etc. The dock makes a very annoying high pitched noise. Not loud but due to the frequency its certainly audible.  The frequuency varies as well, so its not stable, making it even more noticable. The noise varies a bit depending on the ports used. Slightly less noise with the phone using the USB behind with the lightning/charging symbol next to it. Is it a known / common fault? or should I maybe send it back and another unit? (will take me at least two weeks ) Kenneth

Unfortunately I still haven't resolved the issue with my laptop. It's rather frustrating because we have an identical laptop and hardware setup with one of my colleagues and his works fine. No combination of BIOS update software uninstall and reinstall has resolved this issue. It's a shame because I have been accustomed to using the docking station for my older Compaq based laptop / Workstation and I really do love the feature.

I am using a Jabra UC Voice 550 Duo USB headset (Skype model) with Windows 7, for business communication. Or, at least, that was the intent: The reality is that if I use any ports on the docking station, I lose connectivity in the middle of a call. Several Skype chats started out okay, and then the microphone on my end simply stopped working (I could still hear the other party.) Also playing audio (Youtube via Google Chrome) has also resulted in eventual loss of playback. I have had to plug the USB headset directly into the laptop, in order to obtain glitch-free audio (via the on-board Intel USB root hub). The ASMedia USB root hub in the Thunderbolt docking station seems to be the culprit: I have two HP Z24n monitors plugged in via DisplayPort, and it makes no difference if I use USB ports on the monitor vs. directly plugging the headset into the Thunderbolt docking station itself. Since the laptop has limited USB ports, I would like a solution to this problem, please. The ASMedia root hub is running on driver version 1.16.33.1, dated 04.02.2016. One last thing: I got driver software for my Z24n monitors on CD-ROM, but hardly any notebooks are shipped with CD/DVD drives these days - and I could not find an online copy of the software, so I could install the display profiles.

I got the Thunderbolt Dock with my Zbook 15 and it will not boot connected to the dock. I have to disconnect the dock, open it up, turn it on and get it booted into windows. Then I can connect the dock and close the lid and my screens and everything work fine. It seems like the Windows will recognize the dock but the Bios doesn't. Please help!!! This is driving me crazy LOL. Thanks

I have exactly this issue (exame same symptoms) with a G17.Happens even if there are no peripherals attached to the docket. Was on .09 of the BIOS, upgraded to latest, no change. Have updated all HP and Intel drivers and utilities. Also removed graphics drivers in safe mode and reinstalled clean, no change, and performed an sfc /scannow.Was working fine week before last, no idea what changed to cause this.

Hi
I Just bought TB15 and stated using it.
The problem, however, is that my XPS 13 becomes pretty hot when it is connected to the dock.
It becomes hot and operates fan even for normal light uses like web surfing or listening music.
Is it normal issue that all the user have or abnormal?
Thanks!

Additionally, when i connect intel realsense camera to TB15, all devices connected to TB15 is disabled and does not work. The laptop must be restarted to be operated normally.

I recently (yesterday, 16/08/16) started experiencing the dreaded Blue Screen of Death whenever my laptop is connected to my HP Elite Thunderbolt 3 Dock. The machine is a HP ZBook 15 G3. It has been connected to this dock for over a month without this issue. I'm not sure why the sudden issue as I don't recall any updates or new software prior to this happening. The dock is connected to 2x monitors via HDMI cables, and an ethernet cable. I connect a wireless mouse and keyboard to a USB3 port on the laptop. If the dock is connected to the laptop on startup, it reaches the login screen before BSOD. If I start without it connected, it will BSOD a few seconds after connecting the dock. It never gets to the point where the monitors display anything. It can boot with the dock connected in Safe Mode, as this seems to disable it from working. I have updated all drivers and the BIOS (including downloading the Softpaq Download Manager) but there has been no change. I've also updated the NVIDIA drivers to the latest version without change. What should I do next to solve the issue?

Answer:BSOD upon connection to HP Elite Thunderbolt 3 Dock

I would personally try isolating the culprit, then go from there: 1) remove 1 monitor from the dock, then test2) remove ethernet from the dock, then test3) remove the last monitor and hook it directly to the laptop, so the dock is attached with nothing to it, then test4) I have my dock set to "Always Connect" in the thunderbolt software, not sure if that helps any.
