ThinkPad T470 docking stations compatibility

Question: ThinkPad T470 docking stations compatibility

Do the ThinkPad T470 use the same docking station of the ThinkPad T440

Relevance 100%
Preferred Solution: ThinkPad T470 docking stations compatibility

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: ThinkPad T470 docking stations compatibility

This is very bizarre.  Some of the USB ports on my ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3 stop working and then they start working again later.  I can't determine any pattern.  This is very annoying.  For example, all of a sudden Windows reacts as if I just plugged in my external harddrive (ie. makes a sound and the dialoge box will open).  Today, my printer stopped working and I ran diagnostics until I decided to plug it directly into my laptop instead of the docking station at which point it starting working.  I would reinstall the driver to the docking station but there is no driver for the docking station.  Does anyone have any ideas?

Is the machine docking with the station securely? Does it happen or fix itself it you wiggle it?

Hello,I think of buying the ThinkPad T400 with one of these docking stations: ThinkPad Advanced Dock or ThinkPad Dock II.I have several technical questions and haven't found neither appropriate information, nor the way to get it.Here are my questions:1. Do these docking stations support DVI when T400 with integrated (not discrete) graphics is connected? 2. Where can I find a complete list of UltraBay devices supported by each one of these docking stations? Thanks

Answer:T400 with docking stations, ThinkPad Advanced Dock and ThinkPad Dock II

I have a T400 with integrated graphics and recently purchased the Advanced Mini Dock 250410U.  The Advanced Dock and Advanced Mini Dock support DVI pass-through.  I looked into this before purchasing as well. This page will confirm the feature:  http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-72148.  Also see reference guide for docking stations: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-4TPJF4 which says ThinkPad Dock II is discontinued.  This brochure says the Advanced Mini Dock does not support Ultrabay, but the Advanced Dock does.  http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/options_iso/tp_docking_solutions_june09.pdf .

I was wondering, does anyone have one, or use their docking stations? I just got one. It is brand new, and I like it. I have an A31,R51, and an R52. I love being able to dock them and use them as a "desktop".

Answer:Does anyone have/use their docking stations?

Hi,I had a dock with my X40 whose screen got broken during an accident, so only then I used it for a good amount of time as a desktop replacement while docked in the station and connected to an external monitor, I quite enjoyed that experience.  I would love to buy one for my T400 as well

Jumanji discovered an interesting bit and I thought others should be aware.

This might be old news to some. I found one article to exemplify the issue, but there are sure to be more. While this article refers to 3TB drives, the same caution applies to 4TB and greater drives. Basically older docking stations do NOT have address translation for drives above 2 TB - they can only access 2 TB. Problems arrise when data exceeds that limit and data is over written at the base address corrupting the drive.

Answer:HDD > 2 TB and docking stations

I work out something for Internet connectivity. I thought it would be disconnected last Thursday, I was notified today that the service would end by close of business Tuesday.

I'll stop in when I'm near an open router (cafe, friends, library) but can't devote much time to issues. Once our monetary situation improves, I will contract with a provider.

HiI have a w530 (k2000m) and I am considdering getting the ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series Type 4338 35u alongside one or two Dell 4K IPS panels. When looking at the official support pages, all the different iterations of the Dock 3 is stated to support 2560x1440 but I have seen many mentions on the interwewebz, explaining how to make it work with 4K out. Most of these mentions have been a bit unclear, so I am hoping to hear from someone with a setup similar to mine, that is, with a w530 in a working 4K setup going through a dock 3. I am wondering if the success of such a setup has to do with machine model (eg. 530 vs 540), dock model (eg. 1xUSB3 version vs 3xUSB3 version vs w540 version) and finally, if it is affected by the type of 4K streamtech (eg. single stream vs dual stream)

I have been having all kinds of trouble accessing disks in docking stations through USB hubs and connected direct to my computer.

The two docking stations concerned are:

Coltech CE606CU3 USB 3.0 HDD Dual Bay Docking Station for 2.5" and 3.5" SATA hard drives
Inateck Dual Two Bays USB 3.0 Hard Drives External Docking Station

The two hubs I have used are:

EasyAcc« USB 3.0 7 Port hub bus-powered and self-powered 2-in-1 hub
Inateck« 5-Port USB 3.0 Hub (USB 3.0 4-Port Hub + One 5V 2A Charging Port)

I am using plain SATA internal disks in the docking stations, the latest of which is a WD Green 4TB Desktop Internal SATA Hard Drive.

I have tried every conceivable combination:

one disk in one slot of docking station
two disks in both slots
both of the above connected via both hubs and connected direct to the computer (always using USB 3 ports)
switching on docking station after every possible method of connection
switching on and then connecting docking station after making every possible connection

And the result is always the same. The longest period I have been able to access any disk in any docking station is less than an hour, and then it disappears from Computer and from Disk Management - usually while doing a long backup. (Backup is the reason I bought the WD disk.) But the problem relates to any disk I use, in both docking stations and via both USB hubs or connected direct to computer.

Recently, when switching on the (connected) Coltech docking station I ... Read more

Answer:W500 Docking stations?

I have the ThinkPad Advanced Mini Dock, which is compatible and works well with my W500 and an external LCD screen connected to the dock's VGA socket. I use Windows 7 Business Edition. Switching graphics works just as you would expect: both screens flicker for 5-10 seconds, the external display briefly displays "No Signal", and then everything comes back using the chosen graphics chipset. I use two steps to set up multiple displays: 1) Use the blue Fn key plus F7 to choose whether you want to duplicate or extend the desktop; then use the "Screen Resolution" menu entry on the desktop context menu to open the Control Panel with that name. There you can rearrange the display order of  multiple screens to correspond to their physical place on your desk, adjust their resolutions, and duplicate/extend/confine the Windows desktop to any of them. If you select "Advanced Properties" link on that control panel, you'll get the standard multiple tab advanced options dialog for the monitor selected on the graphic or drop-down list of display devices. I've tested the dock's USB connections with external disks and there are no surprises there either. According to Lenovo page on "ThinkPad Digital Video Interface (DVI) and DVI Pass-Through", a VGA and DVI-D may be simultaneously connected on this Mini Dock, but then the W500's own screen is disabled. I have no way to test this, however. Hope this helps, the Mini Dock is a useful accessory.

Answer:Docking Stations for X1 Carbon

You don't say which generation X1C you have, but AFAIK you can add a WWAN card.  Instructions are in the Hardware Maintenance Manual for your particular model.

The challenge will be antennas if they aren't already installed, and finding a card that passes the BIOS whitelist.

This isn't something I can address in detail, but if you'll list your MT-M - like 20FB002SUS as an example of a WWAN-upgradable unit - others will probably be able to help.  (Upgradable means that the antennas are already in place.)

FWIW,
Z.

We are looking for a docking station which is able to drive several digital monitors. At the moment we are using FHD displays, this woun't be a problem with any docking solutiion available. To be future proof we are looking for a solution which is able to run more than one monitor with 2K or 4K resolution. Lenovos "performance dock" is really expensive, but it's limited to a DP 1.2 uplink (two 4K only with 30Hz).There is an Thunderbolt 3 solution for connecting two 4K monitors using Display Port, but there's no USB/audio output on this device. Are there any advanced docking stations available? Is there a P50 owner with practical experience using TB3 docking solutions?

I have the XPS 13 9365 2-in-1 and I want a docking station without paying £££s.What non-Dell docking station are people using?many thanks

Answer:Which non-Dell docking stations for XPS 13 9365?

It is a little hard to judge price if you don't say which capabilities you want the dock to have.  If you needed just Ethernet, those aren't bad.
I have the TB 16, which seems to work well but is expensive.  I cannot attest to its capabilities with multiple monitors since I don't run my system that way.
I also have a StarTech.com dock (# DKT30CHPD) which has HDMI (4K) Ethernet and USB.
I will suggest you evaluate your needs prior to buying a dock.  Getting one which has the capabilities is better than buying several for different capabilities.  If for no other reason that drivers for the different docks may be different.
I should mention, the TB 16 has its own power supply where the StarTech one does not.  Of course, this adds to the cost but does give you a backup supply for your system.

Hi,
I have a question regarding dual-slot HDD docking stations, as I was thinking about purchasing one. I will be using it for both data transfer and cloning. I also own a copy of Acronis True Image 2014 Premium. My question is this, if I want to clone or transfer data from one drive to the other using Acronis True Image would it be faster with two single docking stations each with their own dedicated USB (to the computer) opposed to one dual-slot station which has to share it‘s USB cable for both simultaneously reading from and writing to the drives? Or is this not how it works; does the data simply transfer from one drive to the other without ever leaving the docking station?

Answer:Question Regarding Dual-Docking HDD Stations

?? I think you're right ?? .. But there are "docking stations" with stand alone cloning that should be faster .. Here's one
Unless you're doing this all day .. is the extra speed really that much of an advantage ??
I think I'd trust Acronis 2014 for the Cloning/Imaging especially if making a SSD .. and would get a couple of Single enclosures or stations for the speed/versatility ..

The 5510 has the Thunderbolt 3/USB Type-C port. So you could connect it to the TB16, WD15. Or the D3100 through the 5510 USB 3.0 port. As for reviews, google is a fair source.

The two locations are on the same domain but have a different ip scheme, example; location A 192.168.40.xx and location B 192.168.50.xx, our network admin has set the network to be static, my problem really is, how can i set up one docking station to use one ip scheme and the other docking station to us another ip scheme, both docking stations are identical. I've set up a test environment with both docks next to each other and both on the network, every time I dock it uses the first ip I had assigned to the first docking station, even worse, when I un-dock and use the nic on the laptop it will still use the same ip, can I create different local area connections for each nic????
laptop:
dell e6420
docking station:
e-port plus port replicator

any input will be greatly appreciated

Answer:two different ip schemes, two docking stations, ONE laptop

Hello,

Assign multiple static addresses on the docking station/NIC for both networks.

You will also need to add multiple default gateways.

A better way of doing this would be to enable DHCP on the networks. - This is upto your system admin though.

Hello.  I am a very happy new T470 owner.  So this bad boy has an internal battery and one in the back.  Should I remove the one in the back when my box is in the docking station (90W Ultra Dock), or is it smart enough not to provide continual charging to the removable battery which would wear it out? TIA

Hi All, Im new to these forums but wanted to see if any one else had had experience with the new docking stations. I just upgraded to a T440s which needed the new docking station... I had to get two of them for home and work. They are SO hard to put the PC in compared to the old series 3 docks for my old T410s... those things you did not even need to look when you put the PC down.. they just sliped in.. but the new ones, OMG each morning it takes me several tried to get them to dock.. I am thinking I am damaging the PC when I attempt to do this.. That being said, i am still a fan over EVERYTHING lenovo...  Any one else had similar experiences?Tom

I currently have a ThinkPad Basic USB 3.0 Dock, but this doesn't provide the bandwidth or resolution I woulld get with a usb-c dock. unfortunately people seem to have a lot of problems getting usb-c docks to work (at least for video) with the Yoga 900. Can I ask that anyone who has one lists details here.  Please don't say what 'should' work, only what you have used and know works. Thanks.

I have a z61t that I am trying to convert into a pfsense firewall.  In order to do so I need to have 2 NICs.  I am thinking about buying one of the docking stations that was designed for this laptop, but I want to know how the dock's ethernet port works.  Is it a seperate NIC from the one built into the laptop?  If so, is it the same NIC that is built in (the broadcom netxtreme)?  Or does it just splice into the ethernet port built in (one NIC with two ports)?  In order for the dock dock to work for my application, it would have to be the former.  Thanks in advanced for the help!

I just want to know the best options for docking my 850 g3 to beable to close the lid and operate dual monitors, extended display.

Answer:Docking stations best suited for extended display

Hi, Your machine is a business class machine, it has built in dockking station port     http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/c04915645.pdf Therefore no point to use other, non specialized dock. The HP Ultraslim Docking Station is perfect for this because the specs says: Number of Displays supported with Docking Supports 3 independent displays if used with optional HP Ultraslim Docking Station     http://www8.hp.com/au/en/products/oas/product-detail.html?oid=5422417 Regards.

Hard Drive Docking stations - are they safe for your hard drive?
Surely the 'handling' of the hard drive is not, good for the hard drive??
Doesn't is have many sensitive parts that should not be handled?

Is it OK to have one of these instead of a hard drive enclosure?

The great thing is that you can just pull one hard drive out and put another in!

Any replies would be great

Thanks

Is it me, or is this a scenario that Access Connections can't handle:I have an X60 tablet running Vista Business SP1 and two X6 docking stations (one at work / one at home), and each has a wired gigabit ethernet connection. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get Access Connections to distinguish which dock/location I'm plugged intoIt works fine in both locations without the dock and using wireless connections, but that really defeats the purpose of having to docks and high-speed networksAny suggestions, or is this simply a shortcoming in the software?Message Edited by goestoeleven on 05-04-2008 07:44 PM

Hi, So having a bit of a frustrating experience finding a working dock for the new Spectre X360 (Kaby Lake). I need something with PD (power in), HDMI/DVI or DP out (two ports if fine, one up to 4k), and a few USB ports. I've tried a cheap aukey one and though HDMI works it's buggy. I'm now looking at this guy P5Q54UT - HP Elite Thunderbolt 3 Dock 65W but not entirely sure if it'll work. A few pluggable docks specifically mention that HP is not supported or claim HP doesn't support alt-mode (for USB C) and PD 2.0 spec. Any guidance is appreciated.

Hi, As you may have seen in my previous posts, I leave my previous company and my good old X220. So I am really wondering if I upgrade or not to the new T450s, or if I search for a X220/X230/T420s/T430s refurbished. One of my main concern, is the total display size when docked. I used to use quad FHD screens on my old X220, and I was thinking about increasing again the total display size by replacing 2 FHD screen by 1 4K monitor. However, it seems impossible to run 1 4K and 2 FHD simultaneously. So my question is, Where can I find the differences and limitations of the docking stations available for the T450s regarding the display size ability ? On the product sheet of the docking stations , Lenovo said "* Some of the video ports have exclusive use and are also dependent on the docked ThinkPad configuration". Ok, but where can I have this information ? Many thanks for your answers,

I found this : http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/pd029622 But, the informations are only for T440s and still uncomplete. When docked, maximum displays simultaneously supported (system + docking) : "3 - any combination" So, I can run 3 4K monitors @60Hz ?   T450s can run [email protected], so I hope to run at least my actual config : 2 FHD and 2 WUXGA monitors.

I understand there are three docking station options for the T440s:  ThinkPad Ultra Dock - 90W US - 40A20090US - $269.99ThinkPad Pro Dock - 90 W - 40A10090US - $249.99ThinkPad Basic Dock - 90W - 40A00090US - $199.99 When I do a "compare" of these docks it is not very satisfying .... is there a chart somewhere that acutally shows all the differences between the three models? Do they all include the security leash/teather option? thanks!

hey, everyone.

i have just begun delving into the realm of laptop graphics cards (trying to play GTA:SA, in addition to getting greedy now that the seed's been planted :slurp: ). i've picked up some bits around here that i want to pick your brains about... i have a toshiba satellite (p25-s507) with a GeForce FX Go5200, 32mb video card. i understand there's no way to upgrade this within the notebook, but I'm wondering about two things: docking stations and PC card slots. can i "upgrade" my video card through either of these? i know docking stations can support printers, extra monitors, etc... can they support a different graphics card, so i can switch over when my comp's docked? or this fancy-shmancy PC slot that everyone told me i could "upgrade later" with but haven't used yet... can a video card go in that slot?!

my apologies if this is complete newb-babble, hehe. thanks for any help!

Answer:laptops and graphics -- PC card slots, docking stations?

I don't think there's any way to get it upgraded. The only way is to buy a laptop with a fast gpu to start with, which isn't too easy.

A side note: There are usb 2.0 graphics cards to add a second monitor to some pc's, but they are likely much slower than your 5200. I think the company is called triton IIRC, they used to have them at newegg, not sure if they still do.

I am trying to write a script to detect all docking stations and monitors attached to those docking station for Lenovo Thinkpad t540p laptops on a domain network. Most of the monitors are Asus. Any suggestions or is this even possible? Running powershell from DEV WIN 10

Answer:Windows Powershell- Detect Docking Stations and attached monitors

You could use cmdlet Get-CimInstance:

Code:
Get-CimInstance -Namespace root\wmi -ClassName WmiMonitorBasicDisplayParams

Multiply the horizontal and vertical image size with 40 to get resolution in pixels. For example MaxHorizontalImageSize 48 / MaxVerticalImageSize 27 = 1920 * 1080 resolution.

More information about the monitors can be found with the following command:

Code:
Get-CimInstance win32_desktopmonitor

Code:
Get-CimInstance win32_videocontroller | select caption, CurrentHorizontalResolution, CurrentVerticalResolution

And, if needed, information about the GPU:

Hello Forum;

Toshiba's official website suggests to use for the Notebook A10 1GV the Docking Station Express Port Replicator II.

I need for my construction work 2 monitors.

My question: can I use with the Express Port Replicator II two additional Monitors at the same time (there are 2 connectors (DVI and VGA/RGB analogue) . Is it possible to create two different pictures that way?
Some people said, that after a connection with the DVI-D connector the VGA is switched off.

Does anyone have some experiences?

On the other hand Toshiba offeres the Docking-station "Dynadock U - USB Port Replicator" .
This docking station is only connected via USB with the laptop. According to the data-sheet it provides an analogue and a digital monitor with different views at the same time, up to 1920 x 1200 pix., further an additional headset and 6x USB 2.0. plus network connection

Official that docking-station works with every USB-connectet computer, but in the compatibilty-list Toshiba doesn't mention the Terca A10 and gives only a compatibility statement for the Toshiba NB200 series.

Has someone out there experiences with that Docking station?

What would be the best way to work with two monitors + laptop-display ?

Thanks for every good advice.

Michael

Answer:Tecra A10-1GV and Docking Stations: Dynadock vs. Express Port Replicator II

Hi

As far as I know the Express Port Replicator supports the RGB & DVI simultaneous usage only if notebook itself also supports RGB & DVI simultaneous usage.
So if the Tecra A10 1GV would support the usage of RGB and DVI port simultaneously then Express Port Replicator should support it too.

The Dynadock USB Port Replicator supports either VGA or the DVI port. I didn?t find the Dynadock which has been equipped with both ports together.
The Dynadock can be connected to all computers with USB 2.0 capability and it?s nice expansion.

I have been unable to find any firm compatibility information on docking stations/port replicators that will work with  the Spectre x360-13-w000no/w001no and support two larger screens and charging through one of the new thunderbolt ports on the latest model. Will the HP ELite USB C docking station do the job or will I need something else. Hesitating to buy before som clarity on this issue. Cannot find any relevant info among HP specifications and compatibility listings. Anyone with hands-on experience?

Hello , i bought my laptop some weeks ago, but i am facing one problem with the touchpad. Sometimes is working, and then stops working at all ,and with reboot sometimes comes back and some other not. The trackpad is working very good with the buttons of the touchpad. I found that if i will go to device manager and i will delete/unistall the touchpad (synaptics pointing device) then the mouse is working perfectly until the next reboot, when will be automatically installed the latest driver from windows or from update manager of lenovo, so i think that is not hardware problem. I have the latest original drivers on the pc, installed from the site of lenovo. Also i saw on the settings that the touchpad is enabled. Please i need some help regarding this issue.

We are running SCCM Current Branch version 1706 and ADK 1703.  We just started having issues with the T470 TPM not initializing correctly during the OSD Deployment.  The TPM goes through the Pre-Provision steps without any problem but when we attempt to Enable Bitlocker and send the Key into AD we get "The TPM is defending against dictionary attacks and is in a time-out period." Error Code: 0x80280803 This is not a problem on any other model at this time.  We are also deploying M710s and X270 devices with the same task sequence using the same steps without issue.  Is there a step we need to take on the T470? This task sequence is deploying Windows 7 Machine is in UEFI mode with CSM support.  Secure Boot is disabled and TPM is set to Active version 2.0 Let me know what else you need to help get this resolved. Thanks!

Dear forum,  yesterday I bought my new ThinkPad t470. While everything else is working fine, the notebook seems not to be able to detect my external monitor (ThinkVision t2424p), when connecting it via a VGA to HDMI adapter. This setup flawlessly worked with my last notebook. Regardless whether I try to connect the monitor when Windows is already running or when I boot into Windows with the monitor already connected, the monitor doesn't show up in the screen resolutions settings nor does there appear an additional device in the device manager.  Do you know what the problem might be? The apater works fine when used with a different Notebook. Thank you very much, EBM

Hi all, I wondered if any others have news or any hints on how to get this flat battery for the Thinkpad T470 etc. When I bought my Thinkpad I planned on getting one, but several of my orders were canceled a week after they got my money because of "fulfillment error".Also, so far I have not found a reseller in the UK that can actually deliver these. Is the battery discontinued ?Is there any replacement that is the same small size as the 3-cell battery? Or will all T470 have to live with the clunky 61+ and 61++ Any help or information is appreciated, I would really appreciate my T470 having a slim battery dress one day.Best,Daniel

Everbody's p51 would be the same.  The thunderbolt port won't work as a charging port.  The thunderbolt specs specify 100w max.  That's not enough.  Your thunderbolt port is not for charging.  To charge via the dock, you need a workstation dock, not a thunderbolt dock.  A thinderbolt dock can charge things like an x1 carbon (5th gen) or x1 yoga (2nd gen)

Hi, I had a T420 and one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-Mini-Dock-Plus-USB/dp/B0085MQLGC Now I want a T430 but cannot find if it is compatible with the docking station. Can anyone confirm? Thanks

Answer:Docking station compatibility

the Series mini dock with USB 3.0 dock is actually the official dock for the T430, since T420 does not support the USB 3.0 port functionality (the T430 has native USB 3.0 port support).

Greetings,
We are using Dell latitude laptops and Dell docking stations at our office and we are facing issues with working on the docking station frequently. i thought one cause could be compatibility issue and i tried checking which docking station is compatible with which laptops, but to my surprise the information online is very confusing. Different answers on different sites for the same request. Below is a table listing the docking stations and laptops we have at our office and appreciated if anyone can help me in identifying the compatibility of the items.

Hello everybody, I bought a P50 recently (i7-6700HQ, 16GB RAM, M1000M, 256GB SSD) and now would like to add a docking station. In all the shops I looked so far it is stated that only the biggest 230W version named "performance dock" or "workstation dock" is compatible to the P50.Can I really not just use the cheaper models "pro" (90W) or "ultra" (135/170W)? Thanks in advance!

Answer:P50 docking station compatibility

Yes, you can, I am using the P50 with the Pro Dock right now. Of course, you need to use the 170 W charger.

I have an HP 2012 120W Advanced Docking Station A7E36AA that I want to use with my hp 15 z book.  Are these devices compatible?  Do i need an AC adapter with 19.5V / 11.8 AMP output for the docking station to work with the z book?

Hi,Not compatible according to their product documentation.HP Docking Stations and HP Advanced Docking Stations are compatible with HP ProBook b-Series Notebook PCs, HP EliteBook 8xxx p Series Notebook PCs, and HP EliteBook 8xxx w Series Mobile Workstations.Click the manual:http://h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/default.aspx?cc=emea_middle_east&lc=en&oid=5259887http://www8.hp.com/emea_middle_east/en/products/oas/product-detail.html?oid=5259887But there are members who confirm otherwise, particularly for ZBook 15 G2 Mobile Workstation.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-Notebooks/90W-Docking-for-HP-Zbook-15-G2/td-p/5508169RegardsVisruth

I used to have an X230, and I still have the docking station for it (I forget exactly which, but it allowed dual monitors, which IIRC the base model didn't). I'm now looking to replace this with either an X250 or a T450. Will either or both of these fit on the old docking station? Thanks for any advice.

Answer:Docking station compatibility

HiThinkPad Basic USB 3.0 Dock (FRU 4X10A066xx, depending on the country AC power adapter) is compatible.Probably, ThinkPad USB 3.0 Dock (FRU 0A339xx) is compatible too, but I don't see it in the x250 compatibility list, at the same time it compatible with T450. At least, ThinkPad USB 3.0 Dock (U.S., Canada AC Power Adapter), FRU 0A33970 is compatible with x250 and T450.

I'm desperately looking for a dock for my new Spectre, since it only provides USB-C. I've researched and learnt that the Spectre is not compatible with generic USB-C chargers, and only charges on HP USB-C chargers. Is there a compatible dock from HP in the works, or is there a third party one?

I just purchased a yoga 720-13 for my son who will be heading off to college in the fall. My plan is to set him up with the laptop and monitor via docking station that can also serve to charge the laptop. Researching all the options has left me more confused than ever. Does anyone have any brand recommendations? Compatibility issues? USB vs USB-C? I am new here and not tech savvy so appreciate any help.

Answer:Yoga 720 docking compatibility

The right usb-c port on the left-hand side is thunderbolt 3 and will support a usb-c dock for all outputs as well as charging, as long as the dock supplies 5v, 9v, 15v or 20v power output.  The Dell usb-c docks output 19.5v so they will not work (personally tried them).  The Lenovo usb-c dock works great, other than the power button on the dock does not turn on the laptop so you will need to open the lid and press the power button on the side.

Hi All, First, here is the model Chromebook I am using:Acer Chrombebook R13 CB5-312T-K40U My main issue is my headset(s) have choppy audio output in the headset when plugged into my current Docking Station, which is plugged into the Chromebook. However, when I plug my headset(s) directly into the Chromebook, the audio output into the headset is very clear. No issues with Mic Input when plugged into either device. I have been on the Chromebook Help Forum, and the Contributer has deduced that my Docking Station could be incompatible. The Docking Station Model I have:Kensington SD3500v USB 3.0 Universal Docking Station The Headset Models I have been using:Logitech Wireless Headset H600Razer Kraken USB Headset The Contributer recommended an Acer Docking Station that should be compatible. He linked to an Acer USB Type-C Dock. Can anyone ascertain before I make a purchase, that my headsets will work on this Docking Station, when the Docking Station is plugged into the Chromebook? Just an FYI, this Chromebook only has 1 USB port, so I need the Docking Station to plug other peripherals. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Hello,
I have a new XPS 13 9350 laptop (running Windows 10 Home) which I am trying to use with a D3100 docking station, connected to two S2415H monitors via HDMI cables.  I am having various issues with this:

The laptop does not charge via the docking station.
I experience strange intermittent issues when connected to the docking station.  For example, sometimes my internet connection simply doesn't work and/or Chrome crashes (neither of which happen when not connected to the docking station).

My primary question is around compatibility.  The Dell website is entirely unclear as to which docking station(s) are or aren't compatible with the XPS 13 9350 (specifically the 9350, not earlier models).  I have looked at the product pages for the XPS 13 9350, the D3100 docking station and the newly available Thunderbolt Dock-TB15 docking station.  None of these pages explicitly show that the laptop is compatible with either of these docking stations.
So...could someone please confirm what is or isn't compatible?  The D3100 docking station doesn't appear to be fully compatible, but I suppose this could also be an issues with Windows 10 as well.
Thank you in advance,
Mark

Answer:XPS 13 9350 docking station compatibility

Just got off a chat with Dell and they stated the D3100 is compatible with the XPS 9350.  This means virtually nothing, as "compatible" doesn't mean it works properly in my experience.
Have you updated the drivers and/or BIOS?
Also, the D3100 doesn't charge ANYTHING. It does not have that capability.

Hello Everyone, Three questions:1) What USB C dock is compatible with my new Envy 15t? Sales chat said that the elite dock was not compatible with it. I didn't know if there was another HP dock that would work. I have also seen the Kensington SD4600P, but don't know if it would work. I am looking to add wired ethernet for sure and maybe a second monitor. 1A) Will the dock also supply power to the laptop through USB C or will it have to be powered by its own power adapter? 2) While away from AC power, if the battery runs out, is there an external notebook battery adapter that will extend the runtime of the laptop (not just charge the battery when it shuts down). I saw one, but I am not sure my laptop is set up to use it or if it can keep the laptop running. Thanks, Al

I just wanted to inquire as to whether the 250410U docking station was compatible with the W700.  I currently own a T61P and am considering upgrading.  If at all possible I would prefer to keep this docking station because a) it works, and b) it supports dual monitors (I have a 24" and 20" on my desk). I haven't read anything online to suggest that they're incompatible, but at the same time I haven't read anything that says they are.  Can anyone confirm this?  Thanks!

Answer:Docking station compatibility with the W700

mvasterelli, welcome to the forum, sorry, the docking station is not compatible with the W700.  If you look in the current ThinkPad Notebook  psref (tabook) you'll see that the W700 uses the 43R8782. This is, at the moment, the only docking solution offered for the W700. Hope this helps.
