Lenovo ThinkCentre M82: Sound issues with Istation e-learning app, faint sound with speakers

Question: Lenovo ThinkCentre M82: Sound issues with Istation e-learning app, faint sound with speakers

Good morning everyone,

I am having issues with sound on the M82 or 3306G1U as stated on the subject. The sound works perfectly fine for everything with the exception of Istation, www.istation.com. I did notice that this is only affecting 2 out of the 20 plus computers we have, so its a bit hard to say its just the model. I have tried updating the drivers to the latest version, and as well verified that it was not just the input device for front and back jacks being wonky. Oddly enough the support agent I worked with, used TeamViewer and was able to hear the application just fine, however when I used speakers it was very, very faint but I could also hear it.

Is there any general help anyone can provide me to pinpoint the problem further?

Mod: added app name causing problem to Subject line; and corrected the model number and system type

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am having issues with sound on the M92 or G1U3306 as stated on the subject.

I'm not finding that model number, can you verify? Running 'sys info' can usually also provide the model number (do not post serial numbers.) And OS info and Istation version might be helpful. Thx.

Hello, I'm from Holland, and I bought a Lenovo ThinkCentre from work, but the IT boss insisted that it's C: drive would have to be formatted to avoid license issues. So I took an official Windows XP SP2 CD, and formatted the C drive as requested, and installed XP, followed by downloading zillions of updates to bring it to SP3 level. Before formatting I wrote down the details of the LAN- and sound drivers (having learnt this the hard way in the past). I went to the Lenovo support site to download the drivers.
Everything worked...but not the sound. I checked the driver, it was the same one as before the re-installation. I uninstalled / installed without succes. Then I read a readme file that accompanied the sound driver, and it said the Universal Audio Architecture High Definition Audio Class Driver (KB888111US) must be installed first.

So I went to Microsoft KB111888 and was happy to find a Fix wizard, but it couldn't solve the problem, so I asked for the Hotfix, and they sent me an e-mail with a link and two passwords (valid before and after 5/5/2011). By clicking the link I could download a zip file called 216954_intl_i386_zip. I clicked it, it started to unzip and asked for passwords...but it didn't extract anything at all! Skipping didn't help either. I tried to contact Microsoft Support but they asked 72 bucks before even listening to the problem...

I googled a lot, found lots of links to this zipfile, tried to download some, but didn'... Read more

Lenovo Thinkcentre m92p sff (3227) makes Beep sound when powered on since I updated the bios to the version: 9sjw99usa.exe.Also since I replaced the stock lenovo Fans with Noctua fans it makes a second beep (so 2 beep sounds total and there is a fan error in the bios event log), when I connect back the stock fans it makes only 1 beep again. I dont know if the noctua fans would cause the same behaviour on the older bios version since I replaced the fans after the bios update , but I know that with the old bios version there wasnt any beep on startup with the stock fans.I read somewhere that lenovos can give errors in the bios event log with other fans when their rpms are slower then the original fans rpm were, that doesnt explain the single beep on start up with the stock fans though.I wasnt able to find any older bioses for my model to experiment with them on the lenovo support page only the newest bios is offered for download and I wasnt able to find a way to turn of the self test / beep post on start in the bios. I remember that some oem pc systems had key combination for hidden bios settings, does someone know of such a combination to enable hidden settings for my device, or any other way to turn of the annoying beep sounds?I also replaced the stock PSU  with a Be!Quiet! TFX Power 2 300W Gold + 24 to 14 adapter right after I updated the bios. Bould the first beep on start be because of the new PSU? But how would the System know its not the stock PSU? I... Read more

Hi guys, just reinstalled windows 7. everything works great, then I went to paly a file and to my surprise, no sound. Tested speakers on another device, they work. Sound card drivers are working and up to date.

When I play a media file, I can see the sound gage go. So I went in sounds, playback device, and all I see in there is my sound card, no speakers or headphones icon. Thus no sounds from speakers. Tried other headphones/speakers they also dont work on the PC.

First two screenshots are my Device Manager, third one shows my playback devices.. My wife needs this for her business and I am losing sleep over this for days now I tried everything. Any ideas?

Answer:Windows 7 SOUND, No Speakers in Playback device, thus no sound from speakers

Hi -

What sound card do you have?

Double-click on the HD audio device in Device Manager - what is driver and date?

Usually there is an audio codec/ drivers, e.g., IDT, Realtek, etc... that must be installed.

What are system specs - exact model number from label on back of PC, please.

Ok so i would describe myself as an intermediate/advanced PC user, but this has baffled me. My speakers suddenly stopped working so i did the normal reinstalling of the drivers however this did nothing. I tried this many times, uninstalling the windows audio drivers. Nothing worked. Because of all my messing with the system to try and get the speakers to work, i decided to reinstall windows hoping this would fix the issue. On the newly installed version of windows i had no sound from the Microsoft drivers or from installing the Realtek drivers. Currently i have noticed that the drivers do not seem to be correctly installing. After installing the Realtek drivers the installation all works perfectly, restarting the computer and then finishing the installation etc. But after i check in device manager the Microsoft drivers still seem to be installed? I have tried manually uninstalling the Microsoft drivers and then installing tthe Realtek, but the Microsoft drivers just reappear. The sound does work from the headphone jack. I initially thought it might be the hardware the speakers themselves but after noticing the drivers aren't installing correctly it may well be a software issue. Can anyone help?!?! I really don't have the £99 Microsoft wanted to help and Lenovo were completely useless, uninsterested and told me to contact Microsoft. What really sucks is the fact my Warranty with Lenovo has literally just ran out

Could you please post a screenshot how your audio drivers are showing up (in Device manager)?

Also, go to system try >> right click on volume >> Playback devices
and post a screenshot of what is selected there? Also, see if something can be configured in those settings?

You may also want to upgrade your Intel Graphics (chipset) drivers, sometimes they cause problems with audio.

Hello, I just bought a brand new Thinkpad E570 and there is one problem I just can't solve. I can't get the speakers to work, only headphones through the headphone out work. On top of this, when I plug in headphones, this annoying Smartaudio HD window pops up and sometimes freezes on the computer. I'd love to get rid of that, but having my speakers actually work is priority one. The laptop is using Conexant SmartAudio HD drivers and, I've tried just about everything I can think of to fix them. I've uninstalled and then manually installed the correct drivers from Lenovo, but that didn't help. At this point I'm fearing that I received a dud with bad speakers. Is there any way to deal with this speaker problem, or at least check if my speakers are functioning? I can't keep this laptop if the speakers don't work, because it is brand new with the original OS.

Answer:Lenovo E570 - No Sound from Speakers

Hi JonCharles,  You can test your audio with live Linux distribution (running from USB flash drive). I performed tests with Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS and Fedora 25 Workstaton and audio is working flawlessly out of the box.

Bluetooth speakers works just fine, but not the the laptops own speakers. Also there is only sound from the left headphone when I use headphones (i've tried several headphones, but no sound from the right)I've already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the audio driver.I've also turned off the enhancements at the speaker options.any idea?

Hi Guys.

OK. So I am having an audio issue with Vista, in which I didn't have before with XP.

I have Hyundai Z-5500's, you can question these speakers all you want, but they are actually great. Moving on...

Before I upgraded to Vista, my speakers worked fine, however set to a 8CH ratio with the drivers. In Vista, the max ratio I can set my speakers are to 7:1.

I have a 5:1 system, and if I set my system to 5:1, my front speakers don't work.

Now, if I set my audio to 7:1, all sound comes out, except in the front speakers the sound comes out dodgy. (crackly, grainy, tappy) sort of sound, like it's really bad quality. Think of a High Hat on a drum kit, it makes that sort of sound, only with music playing.

However, if I test the audio configuration via the drivers, the sound from all speakers come out absolutely fine, with no bad sound detail at all. This only works with a channel of 7:1.

If I try and test my sound out on 5:1, all my speakers work except the fronts, and when I test the front speakers in the 5:1 audio channel, the sound would end up coming from the rear speakers but REALLY LIGHTLY, like extremely quietly, just hearable if the room is silent.

I've tried ditching the motherboard drivers and just going with some Realtek drivers from the site, but it ended up being the same version corresponding with my motherboard.

I have an ASUS P5Q motherboard, and I am using on board sound.

5.1 Sound issues [ISSUE SOLVED]

Hey guys,

I recently reformatted my computer, and after a lot of issues (dead HDD and RAM) i finally got it working again.
Today i went to start putting my drivers and stuff back on for things and when i got to sound i ran the program as normal and setup everything.
The windows sound scheme is set to 5.1 surround.
The program that comes with the s/c allows me to select 5.1 and press apply, but when i press apply it doesnt actually work.

Whenever i play music, all im getting is my rear 2 speakers. Not even the nobs on my subwoofer (rear speaker control) will allow me to turn them down.
All cables are in the correct ports so i know this is not an issue.

Any ideas?

Card is a C-Media one i think. It doesn't have like specific brand though, i think the chip is cmedia and the card is AudioExcel.

Need any other info, let me know

Cheers,
Rio

Answer:5.1 Sound issues (Rear speakers only)

Hi Rio  (apologies for the wait)

Have you checked the Cmedia program settings (hopefully installed in your start menu group)

Also are you positive that you have installed the correct driver for your Windows version? (directly from the manufactures support page)

So i just got my pc back from a workshop who did some changing of hardware. I dont think they changed the speakers, cause they worked just fine. Now i only get sound from my subwoofer, and my headphones works just as good as they did. I dont think its a hardware related problem, because the headphone jack works. But i dont know.I have tried deleting and re-installing chipset drivers and audio drivers. But feel free to come with reccomendations.Windows sounds still sounds the same as they did too. It has been like this for a day now, and its getting really annoying.Thanks!-hnnngjnsn

How do I take off the Lenovo startup sound (The sound when the Lenovo logo and those orange lines appear)? It's so loud! I can't bring my laptop to the library or other places because of the sound. Yesterday, I tried taking it off and I accidentally disabled my speakers. How do I reinstall that and the Realtek thing? I accidentally uninstalled all the audio output devices of my laptop so now I can't listen to anything. -_-

Answer:Speakers + Lenovo Startup Sound (Y450)

When your laptop is starting up, push F2 (I think.. it says it on the bottom.. either F2 or F12). Then look through the settings and there should be a setting that lets you change the sound settings for the start up sound. If you change it from 2 to 0, it should mute it.

hi all,

moved my computer - unplugged speakers, plugged back in after move. they don't make sound. tried an alternative set, they don't make sound. headphone jack puts out one channel sound from cd, youtube, etc - not 2 channels tho. at least there is sound and the headphones could be bad.

The first 2 times I booted the computer, after reaching the desktop a big gigabyte screen popped up showing sound related settings. (I have a gigabbyte motherboard) - first time ive ever seen that screen - so i just clicked it shut, before I knew the sound was problematic. cant get that gigabyte screen to come back on tho to see if I need to change settings on it. any idea how to get that gigabyte screen back?

checking the system shows sound in working order; onboard sound, not stand alone soundcard.

thanks,

Msongs

will get a stand alone sound card and see if that works.

Hi Vinod1,

Welcome to the Forums

As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with not audio in your Lenovo B50-70 laptop.

Connect an earphone to your system right click on the speaker icon in the task bar select playback devices option and check if the earphones are visible. If yes select the earphone and make it default.

If the installed driver is Conexant then selects Conexant smart audio and select audio director under this option select multi streaming option and check for the issue.

Hope this helps. Do post back if the issue persists.

It seems that ms has not been able to get the audio portion of windows audio to work properly under windows 10!. Ever since I installed the upgrade; Ive had very very low/faint sound with crackling noises to boot. Why is it so darn hard for ms to get their crap together when it comes to getting sound cards to work with windows 10? I recently built a new computer and I have a slight repetitive popping/cracking over my computer speakers when sound is played. It happens on both the front and back audio jacks with speakers or my headphones.
My system specs are....
CPU: 3.3ghz intel i5
Mobo: MSI P67A-GD65
GPU: Radeon HD 6950
PSU: XFX 650W
OS: Windows 7 64 bit

The only other weird thing my computer does is my usb wifi mouse wont work without randomly being really laggy but it works fine on other computers.

Also I have a 2nd hdd with ubuntu on it and when I boot to that drive the popping sound goes away (so must be windows/driver related?).
Ive tried the drivers on the cd that came with my mobo, and I've also update to latest version online.

Everything was working OK at lunchtime but when I switched on the PC this evening and tried to play music via Windows Media Player, the sound from the right hand speaker was only just audible. The left hand speaker was OK. This occurred with a CD and also from .wav tracks on the C drive from "My Music". I have checked all the leads and the Balance indicator is set in the middle. I am not sure what to to or where to look. Thanks in advance for any guidance/comments. (HP Pavalion 7670 running XP SP2 with Media Center.)

It's still most likely to be a jack plug connection - they build up a resistance over time if not occasionally unplugged and replugged.

Sound on my laptop (Fosa PentiumM 1.6, 1GB Ram, 60GB HD, WinXPsp2) seemed to die a few days ago and I couldn't get it working again. When I plugged in headphones and cranked the volume slider up, I could hear a VERY faint sound being played.
From the actual laptop speakers, I hear nothing, although it could be so faint that it doesn't register - my built in speakers are pretty lousy.

After alot of troubleshooting, I reinstalled Windows and then the driver disk that came with the laptop. I'm still having the same problem.

This laptop I got second hand from someone else and I doubt they would have ever used headphones with it. And since that is when it seemed to happen, I'm wondering if that has something to do with it.

I'm just not sure where to go at this point.

Thanks for any insight!

If I had to guess, I would say you are having a Hardware problem. I think that you have blown out the amp in the sound card.

Answer:Equium L20-197 - sometimes sound is very faint

Hi

There might be a hardware issue? I?m speaking abut speaker problem?
But did you check the sound using the headphones?
Do this? if the sound would be low even using the headphones then I would recommend checking the sound card settings and the driver?

First of all you should access the device manager and should remove/delete the sound card from device list?
Then you should reboot the unit and after new reboot windows os should recognize the sound chip again.
Then check the sound using different audio and video players?

Gigabyte says that my motherboard supports both 5.1 and 7.1 Surround Sound so I don't understand why I can't configure my speakers to run 5.1 (it only lets me use Stereo).

Device manager only shows High Definition Audio Device and Control Panel doesn't show Realtek at all. Realtek Audio Manager doesn't appear either, it's not in the system tray icons where I would usually find it. Even searching for Realtek brings up nothing other than all the drivers I have downloaded to see if they would work.

Link to motherboard's Realtek driver as provided by Gigabyte: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4305#dl

Link to motherboard's specification: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4305#sp

Image showing my device manager > sound: http://gyazo.com/36ad517b270bd1e0ae585281527863a9

Any ideas as to what the problem is? I can't seem to find anything audio related in BIOS either.

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad 700-17ISK very slow internet speed and poppin sound from speakers

Hi, Tibimakai ?

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Navigate to the Control Panel and accessing network and sharing center. Click on Local Area Network and see what it says to the right of Speed. Does it say 10mpb or 100mbps?

Try uninstalling antivirus on ur system & check.

For sound issue, You can start by flushing out all static, remove battery and AC adaptor and hold down power button for about 15 seconds.

Update us how it goes.

Hi
This is driving me nuts!!

Lenovo R60 converted to W7. everything works fine except sound from the microphone.
If I speak normally into the mic from a distance of 3 inches the resulting recording is very quiet - only just audible. There is a certain amount of buzz as well

The microphone works fine in another machine.

The R60 has Soundmax Integrated Digital HD Audio. I have the latest drivers (W7 drivers are only available for the R61 but I believe the card is the same. They work at least as well as the R60 vista drivers).

In sound->recording I have one microphone (a CD player and Stereo Mix are visible but disabled)
Under microphone->properties I have
Tab Listen - unticked
Tab Custom -> microphone boost ticked
Tab Levels -> set to max (100)
Tab Microphone enhancements -> disabled (Ive tried voice enhancements but it makes marginal difference)
Tab general - it says 'no jack information available' Also, if I enable and select as default one of the other recoding devices, the microphone gets a small green telephone symbol by it. So I suspect Soundmax is not detecting the mic in the jack correctly which may account for the symptoms.

So can anyone help me get this fixed.
All (sensible ) suggestions welcome

Just bought an xfi fatal1ty sound card and I bought "Medusa 5.1 surround headphones" to go with it

The problem is that the rear speakers sound quieter or muffled from the front and center speakers in my headphones

I tried everything I could think of to make the rear sound like the front but nothing has worked

I know that my rear speakers are not defective because if I switch the front wire and rear wire around the rear speakers sound like they should

I donít know whatís making the rear sound so off

Someone Help

Overall the headphones sound great but the 2 rear speakerís just throw away the whole 5.1 surround headphone feeling

I tried contacting www.speed-link.com

But they have poor service

Answer:Just bought a new sound card but the rear speakers sound muffled or quieter Help

I'm not the audio guru here... but from what i've seen about the medusa 5.1 headset is that it is a USB headset. Is yours?

I've got the X-fi fatal1ty FPS and a pair of Zalman Theater 6 headphones. Here is how I hook it up.

See the 3 plugs White is Front - Gray is rear - Black is sub

The Black goes in the far right, Gray goes next to it, white next to that, and my mic goes on the far left.

These headphones are fantastic and have a perfect surround sound field.

BF2 - the M95 sniper rifle sounds absolutely incredible.... It's the sharpest, chrisp SNAP you've ever hear.... Sometimes when I pull the trigger it actually makes me jump... lol

Answer:No sound played trough speakers but sound works from headphones

If you are not able to listening any sound even error beep, then it seems hardware fault inside your system.
It may speaker goes faulty. You should consult your computer hardware vendor.

I know many people here have the same problem but till now I have not found any solution.
My soundcard is a Realtek. After reinstalling Windows 7 I have no sound out from my headphones while I have some from my speakers.

As soon as I connect the headphones, the Realtek manager appears and I choose headphone but if I press the "Test" button there is no sound and no sound if I play music.
Any des/re-installation of the drivers does not fix.

I have to mention that my headphones work perfectly with Ubuntu. So the jack entry is good.
In "Playback devices" from the sound control icon, the "Speakers" entry has "Set default" in grey.

Thanks a lot for any help.

Regards.

Answer:Satellite C660 - No sound from headphones but sound from speakers - Win7

> As soon as I connect the headphones, the Realtek manager appears and I choose headphone but if I press the "Test" button there is no sound and no sound if I play music.

Go to Control Panel -> Realtek HD audio manager

Here you should see the tab ?speakers?. Click on the yellow folder sign in the right upper corner.
Ensure that the option ?disable front panel jack detection? is NOT checked.
Furthermore check the option at the bottom called ?Enable auto popup dialog???
[Realtek HD audio manager screenshot|https://itpendium.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/14-realtek-hd-audio-manager-big.jpg]

By the way: in control panel -> sound -> playback tab click right and mark the two options ?show disabled devices?, ?show hidden devices??
Now you should also see the headphones jack. In case it was disabled, you could make it active.

I have no applications running at all in Windows. I have the system sound muted, but I still have some sound coming out of the speakers. It sounds like some talk radio. I also have all networking disabled. I have no idea where this is coming from.

How can I tell if any process on my computer is accessing the sound drivers?

Answer:Solved: computer sound muted but sound is still coming from speakers

In some cases, if the speakers are cheaply made and not sheilded, they can acutally pickup radio waves (especially if you live near a radio tower). Does the "Talk radio" continue if the speakers are on, while the computer is off?

What should I do? Many thanks.

I am getting a laptop. Right now I am deciding between regular "High Definition Audio 2.0" and a "ExpressCard Sound Blaster X-Fi Laptop Sound Card with Wireless Receiver Bundle". The latter is 134 dollars more. Would the latter make the output of sound better on external speakers. Say if you're a DJ, and you use the laptop, would the sound coming out of the speakers at those high volumes be much better if you have the better soundcard? Or does it not have any effect on the output sounds? Thanks!

physically check your cables, as usually this problem is caused by human error. next, check all of your volumes. what OS, service pack, and version are you running?

I have an MSI 785GTM-E45 Mother Board. I have no sound coming from the speakers. Tried new speakers and still no sound. If I click on the speaker Icon on the bottom right it shows the speaker graph going up and down as sound is being produced. I tried the head phones and nothing coming from them either. I tried playing a CD and nothing from there either. I first noticed it when I was trying to play something from YOUTUBE and thought it might just be the site but then I tried off line as well. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. This is the first day that I have noticed it. Thanks for any help. I have checked all the settings I can think of but probably have missed something somewhere.

Answer:No sound from speakers but showing sound graph on speaker control

Go to the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Panel. In the Playback section, set your "Speakers" as the Default Playback device (if it's not now set). Then see if you have speaker and/or headphone sound.

I have a problem with audio on system speakers Inspiron 13 5368 2-in-1. I have exhausted all my ideas.
The audio is fine through plugged in headset but through system speakers it starts loud and fades away to very faint audio coming from two speakers.Could this be some type of Auto volume control? This problem exists with ITunes with local media, DIRECTV, Slacker, YouTube.
This has existed through several W10 upgrades. I am on the latest W10. No updates available. I have used Dell Auto Update and verified through the website no other drivers are missing or outdated
With the deal Audio I restored to default, disabled equalizer, audio and microphone enhancement. No luck
I have removed audio devices from device manager rebooted to same results. Any other ideas?

Dell Auto Update you're referring to is Dell Support Assist? If no, I suggest you diagnose Audio with Dell Support Assist. Most Dell systems have Support Assist pre-installed. You can check by typing Support Assist onto [Cortana] search box or right click windows logo and then click on 'Programs & Features'. If Support Assist isn't installed on system then I suggest you click on the link below and stroll down to 'Download Now'.

Why would speakers sound scratchy, but headphones and external cabled speakers sound OK? I have a Dell Studio 15 (1555) running windows 7 Professional.

236GB used, 214GB free space
Intel P8700 2.53 GHz Processor
64 bit OS
4GB memory

The built-in speakers used to sound good but now they are too scratchy to understand. However the headset sound is good. According to the Dell Support Assist utility, the sound card is "ATI high Definition Audio Device" and "IDT High Definition Audio CODEC."
Microphone test -- earphone playback is OK, on-board speaker terrible.

Answer:Why would on-board speakers sound scratchy but headphones sound OK?

You Dell Studio 1555 laptop uses IDT HD audio driver for the built in laptop speakers.
The ATI HD audio driver is only used if an HDMI connection to an HDMI monitor (with an HDMI audio/video cable) is used.

possibly a driver conflict with IDT audio, built-in speakers may be malfunctioning or dirty (gotta have them repaired if it's a hardware problem and not a software problem). just listing the possible causes for the scratchy sound.

Yesterday I installed a new external hard drive - following the installation - my sound no longer played through my television (video is fine, HDMI connection) and sound now comes ONLY through the laptop speakers.

The option for HDMI Audio doesn't appear in the 'sound' menus. I have 'checked' "shoe disabled" and "show disconnected" in those menus.
Basic Specs:

DV7-4060us

Windows 7/64bit

IDT High Definition Audio Codec

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250
AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon 4250

I have tried the following fixes gleaned from other forum posts on similar forum posts:

Uninstalling and reinstalling IDT drivers - didn't work.

HP driver 'recovery manager' to install 'original' IDT audio codecs - didn't work.

Unistalled ATI Video Drivers , and reinstalled them - didn't work

System Restore to a week ago - didn't work.

I use my HD TV as my primary monitor for gaming, so having sound through laptop speakers and not TV is quite annoying.

Perhaps my only solution is another sound card?

Answer:no sound through tv via hdmi, sound plays through laptop speakers (idt

So you're trying to get audio to play on your TV from your laptop? Since you said the video is fine it's obviously not the video drivers. It sounds like the sound output is configured wrong. I don't think it would be labeled as HDMI. HDMI is just DVI with HD Audio. Try altering your sound settings to see what you can get.

Audio is a very difficult thing to diagnose and fix.

TY
p.s. the drivers my mobo uses are VIA HD Audio deck. i've tried uninstall all sound drivers and reinstalling but to no aveil
p.s. also at one point in time few days ago everything was working but the next day the rears just stopped...

Answer:5.1 Speakers rear and mid sound not playing any sound apart from test

did all the speakers sound when test in via hd audio deck or windows 7 audio control panel?

if yes, most likely you will need to enable the 'upmix' feature of VIA. I'm not sure what is it called, but in Realtek it is called Realtek Speaker Fill or Dolby ProLogic IIx. If there isn't any, you may want to try Channel Mixer for foobar2000.

I have an HP dv6000t laptop, XP, the sound card is Conexant HD Audio. For the dv6000t model, the audio jacks (there are two, for two headphones) are at the front of the laptop, below the touchpad facing you.I tried connecting a DELL sound system that i got default with my dell desktop years ago. It comes with a subwoofer that connects (black plug and green plug) to the two audio jacks and you connect two speakers to the subwoofer. When I plugged in the green plug from the subwoofer to the right audio jack, there was a popping sound. I quickly pulled the wire and from there, no audio would play from my laptop's speakers.I can only play sound through headphones, and through the subwoofer to the speakers.I looked at the device manager, checked the "sound, video, and game controls" and it said everything was working properly, updated, and there were no red X's or exlamation points. My laptop speakers can't play system sounds, or any music. When I open the "Volume Control" window, click on advanced, under Tone Controls, there Bass and Treble are greyed out and I cant slide the bar left or right. I used to be able to.Please help. Thanks in advance. So I've got a problem,I changed my case 2 days ago and everything went great, all working as it should be.Up until an hour ago, when the lid got stuck in one of the little clips so after a quick bang it went in.But then I lost my picture on both monitors.
So I went to investigate,I ended up moving the GPU over to the other 16x slot and it is now fine.
but since then I've lost all sound through either the front or rear jacks,It is saying that the speakers are not connected.I've done all the usual checks,as in default devises, drivers.Everything I can think of I have done.I have tried a new cable, and tested through both of my phones and the speakers work fine.I've also tried a few sets of headphones in both jacks. There is a faint hiss sound when I turn the speakers on,that has just started.
I have managed to get sound through my tv via HDMI,but every time,I go into audio manager and lets say change from soft to hard,I loose the sound again, and have to set the HDMI as default again.this too has just started.
I'm using the on board realtek audio sound card ,on an Asus p8z77-lx motherboard.
Just a quick note when I plug in the jack, there is no beep and the pop up screen does not appear as normal.
To me it is pointing towards a motherboard problem, with the 2 problems happening together.Any help would be great.

Answer:No sound through speakers.Jack not being detected.HDMI sound only?

Hiyya Paul mate sounds like (no pun intended) that thump dislodged something on the board just carefully move the I/O output block and see if there is any movement, could be something a simple as dry joint but which is going to be hard to find and fix.

If you have some warranty and I know it is a PITA having to reef it all out again but.....

Personally I have the P8Z77-V and I just stuck an Asus Xonar DG card in the thing and there is no comparison really and you get one heck of a control centre. Not expensive I don't know about where you are but out here $35 so both my Ivy and Sandy Bridges have them.

Sound on laptop-speakers is great (Harman/Kardon) but is it possible there is a problem with the mini-jack for the headphone?
Sound via headphone is very week and i can't find how to improve it.
I often used my previous laptop to see movies on my TV (S-video + mini-jack for sound to AV-receiver). Sound was great... but now, when i connect my AV-receiver (or headphone) sound is very low...
Who could help me?

- I tried different headphones (who work fine on other laptops)
- I know about the sound-level wheel in front of the laptop :-)
- I tried the volume control tool in control panel

Answer:Satellite M60: Low sound on Headphone (perfect sound on speakers)

Hi Mark

Did you check the headphones settings in the ?sound and Audio devices??
Please go to ?Control Panel?-?Sound and Audio Devices?. In the ?Volume? tab you will find the ?Advanced? button. Press it.
There you will find volume controls. Please check if all controls are set to high.
Hope is helps.

Hey! I've got a problem with my Lenovo Y50-70. I use Windows 10 now and every time I turn off the sound (set sound bar on 0 at the tray) while using headphones (Audio-Technica ATH-M50x) and turn it on again, sound doesn't work anymore. It's really annoying, because if I want to have sound back in my headphones, I have to reboot my computer. This issue doesn't occur with the speakers, just headphones. My current sound driver is Realtek High Definition Audio 6.0.1.7535.  My second problem with the sound is that when I use mentioned above version of the sound driver, I have really bad sound in some games (for example Counter Strike 1.6). It sounds too loud and really hurts my ears. I tried many other versions of the driver. Most of them didn't change anything, some of them fixed sound in the games, but then the quality of music played on the speakers was very low. So it doesn't matter which version of the driver I use, I always have some problems. Is there anything I can do with these problems? Did anybody experience similar issues? I love my laptop, but these two problems sometimes annoy me.

Answer:Lenovo Y50-70 sound issues.

Did you have these issues at the beginning when you switched over to Win 10? Also check your driver against the listed driver on lenovo support site and see if you are using the proper driver. One problem (among many) with win 10 is that microsoft force feeds whatever driver microsoft determines you need, not necessarily what the vendor determines is best. If this problem was NOT noticed immediately, then I would suspect that your driver has become corrupted and I would try installing the Lenovo Win 10 driver under their support section. Alternatively, IF you have turned on "Create a restore point" you can try restoring to a date before the problems began, as long as you have a restore point saved. Lastly, you can go back to Win 8.1 like I did. Win 10 was just too full of bugs for me and just was not worth all the problems and conflicts. If you choose this, be sure to back up all of your data first and then hit the OKR and restore back to 8.1. In my opinion, you aren't losing much at this point in time and your "Get Win 10" will show up again and you can always try Win 10 at a future point in time when some of the bugs have been worked out. Or, you could go ahead and re-install Win 10 again and see if the problem has gone away. With the realtec audio, there are two separate drivers, one for the speakers and one for external audio (aka headsets). My gut says something is corrupt in your adio driver such as using a generic driver which microsoft loves to do. ... Read more

I've been working on computers for many years and have come across something that ive never seen before. I have a hp media center pc m7067c that does not turn on and the power supply makes a faint clicking sound every second. When i unhook the ps from the mb the sound goes away. I know the ps works cause ive used it in another pc. All the drives power up in another pc and I have put in a new mainboard and still have the same issue. Any help would greatly be appreciated!!

Answer:pc won't turn on and power supply makes faint clicking sound

Given that you are SURE the sound is emanating from the power supply find a dark location (at night with no lights on in the room) and observe the power supply for a brief flashing blueish light. If detected it is most likely a short arcing in the PS. Another alternative might be a bearing starting to fail on the PSU fan. truenorth

There isn't an easy way of doing this and I'm not sure it's even possible; getting the speakers and the headphones to work at the same time is a big enough of a challenge!

How exactly are your speakers and headphones plugged in? One in front audio out and one in back audio out...?

Hello,

I am having a problem with the sound from my speakers when I play CD's, I have a CD-ROM and a CD/DVD Burner. The problem happens in both the CD-ROM and the CD/DVD-Burner. THe problem only happens when CD's are played other music files on my computer play without a problem . The speakers aren't the problem, because they are brand new and this problem happened on another set of speakers. There are no resource conflicts in Device manager, and I have the most recent XP signed driver. Anyone know what can be the problem? Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I am pretty stumped with this one.

I upgraded my office to windows 7 32bit pro. 10 computers all the same, but one of them has audio issues.

When I play the sample music the volume bar shows the equalizer bouncing like it is sending out audio, but any speakers I plug into it produce no sound.

I have tried: different speakers, different jacks, 4 on the back 1 on the front, updating the audio driver, windows updates, rebooting, and yelling and now I am out of ideas.

When I use a usb based headphone I can get sound.

it lists the default sound device as a S/pdif high definition audio device...
Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks.

Answer:The volume bar shows sound but no sound through speakers.

re: S/pdif high definition audio device

That's the digital output, you won't get any sound with that. Does it show "Speakers" listed in the same Window?

Right click on the Microsoft speaker icon in the taskbar, select playback devices, if you have Speakers listed, single left click on them and select "Set Default".

If you don't have speakers listed, make sure you have a pair of speakers plugged into the light green audio jack in the back then open the playback devices window as above... right click in the middle of the window and enable both "show disconnected/disabled devices".

Any speakers showing up yet?

I have a Lenovo S10-3 Netbook, running on Win7 starter.

It has been running fine unil a few days ago, when the built in speakers no longer play any sound. Works fine with earphones or exernal speakers, but not internal speakers.

Drivers are all up to date, and audio/sound settings are all set to full.

And according to the speaker and sound card 'properties' - "This device is working properly."

What can i do?

Answer:No sound from built in speakers, but sound from headphones

Do you get sound with the external speakers unplugged?? Usually laptops will disable the built in speakers while external speakers are being used...

Hello  I have been using my hp for over a year with little or no problems and this only happened 3 days ago. I came home from college and I booted up the laptop and there was no sound what so ever so I plugged in my headhones and the sound was distorted. So I thought It must be a Driver Issue so I updated the drivers and It fixed it or so I thought. The next day I came home and had the same problem but when I had the headphones in I could hear that the sound was going from distorted to normal rapidly so I just jiggled the headphone jack and It was fixed. Now today I came home as usual and same thing happens so I tried the jiggle trick from yesterday and nope it didnt work. But after a few mins It ficed itself  Now I havent got a clue whats causing this and Im getting frustrated. Can I do anything to resolve this   Does It matter that I have my headphones plugged on all the time or could it be the head phone jack that is causing issues

I just purchased my G770. And my sound having ugly freezes and weird noises started as soon as it was out of the box. After reading all these complaints about the sound issue, and the practical inability to resolve it, I am really sad I purchased a Lenovo. It is my first one. I know that usually the people who are happy never really say anything, but these unresolved complaints are discouraging. I feel as if I have to live with it. I cannot go weeks without my laptop as I use it for school...
Does anyone have a better suggestion for me? Should I even bother trying to get it fixed? Should I call? I feel lost and doomed....

Hello I recently purchased a Lenovo G570 laptop. However, I am experiencing issues with the sound. Having first received the laptop, I installed all of my 'usual' programs onto it (iTunes, Spotify, OpenOffice, etc). After doing this, I listened to some music in iTunes. At differing intervals, playback of the songs freezed momentarily whilst some sort of 'robotic' noise was temporarily emitted. This happens at least once or twice per minute. So as to ensure that this was not a problem exclusive to iTunes, I checked whether I had the same issues using Spotify. Exactly the same problem occurred. In order to discount any conflicting software issues, I restored the laptop to its factory condition using the backup software. However, the same issues persist. I have installed the latest updated drivers (on each of the above installations) but this does not have any effect. Can anyone help? Many thanks.

So this may be a bit of an extended read but the issue is somewhat major. I work at a university as part of the IT staff and I have never really seen an issue quite like this before. In our department we have about 60-70 T431s that our medical students use as their primary school laptops. However, when they are watching videos, sound will cut out randomly. Other times sound will cut out if they plug a headphone in. I have been unable to replicate the issue each time and it comes and goes it seems. I have done every update, reinstalled drivers, updated all Adobe products. The laptops come with Windows 8 but we use our enterprise level Windows 7 64-bit on these machines. Short of reimaging all the systems to 32 bit, I'm all out of ideas.I have run out of options at this point. Ideally we'd like to resolve the issue without having to reimage 60-70 systems. Does anyone have any suggestions or have seen anything like this? All help is appreciated.

Wait until one unit has 2 or more reports/complaints against it, then adopt that laptop as your own computer. That will give you a chance to reproduce the problem.

Hey guys,I have a lenovo yoga 2 and ever since I got it two months ago, the speakers have been wonky. Occasionally when playing music / any sound, a static noise occurs and kind of temporarily pauses whatever sound I'm listening to. And once it starts to happen, it keeps happening. I don't know any other way to describe the noise other than a static sound of sorts. Has anyone else had this problem? Anyone have any solutions??? I feel desperate at this point and pissed that I was sold a computer at Best Buy with this issue.. I want to throw this laptop at a wall sometimes!

Hi, We have purchased about 100 of the Lenovo T430s laptops during the last 12 months. We have got intermittent sound issues when playing videos, flash videos etc, the sound just disappears randomly on most laptops. I have tried updating the audio drivers, the latest version from Lenovo or the latest version from the audio manufacturer. It doesn?t make a difference at all, you have the sound just fine and then you try to play a video, music or youtube video and the sound just disappears. I have noticed that sometimes when you go to Playback Devices > Select Speakers > Select Configure > Run Test the sound comes back (not always).  We have more and more users complaining about the sound issue and therefore we need to get this sorted. We have also got about 100 of the Lenovo T420 laptops and we have had no issues what so ever with the sound. Please advise what else I can do. I've searched online and a lot of people seems to have this issue, sounds like a manufacturer defect of some sort.

Hi johnny_boto,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Try this,
Open Device Manager (Press Windows key + X) and delect device Manager.
Uninstall the Audio driver under Sound and gaming controler, Once a pop up message appeared asking to delete driver software for this device place a check box at the bottom of that pop up and continue to uninstall.
Now Restart the computer and repeat from step one, Reapeat the whole step until the Uninstall pop up does not have any check box anymore,
Now restart the computer on last time and Install this driver

If that one failed proceed with this next driver

Without really thinking, I dropped my Y560 about 1'' onto my Belkin cooling station and about 24 hours after the drop.  I began to hear a very very faint beeping noise coming from the laptop.  The sound is similar to a morse code message and is quite faint, but I can hear it from about 5 ft away in a quiet room.  The laptop was also powered on when I dropped it and it was recently booted on, so the hard drive was probably spinning So far I am able to use the laptop but am unsure as to whether I should get it checked out or not.  Does anything in a computer make a small buzzing noise or a morse code sound that kind of sounds like a fizz or beep.  Any advice would help.  If I should provide any other information please ask.  I am used to hearing nothing from the Y560 except the faint noise of the fan.  Thank you.

Answer:Possibly Damaged Laptop Can hear faint sound similar to Morse Code

you may have serious issue with your computer.

Hello, I am a DJ, and i run a program called Traktor to mix music, and i use "Speakers and Dual Headphones" for the master volume(What the crowd hears) and "Independent Dual Headphones" for the monitor volume(What is played in my headphones) which are both IDT High Definition Audio CODEC. The problem i am having is that when i am playing a song the sound all goes hay wire and i cannot understand why. My first solution was that the program is messed up and i need to test that. So i installed the software on my buddies Hp laptop and it worked perfectly. Then i decided it must be my computer. My idea is that the problem is that the "Speakers and Dual Heaphones" use the same 2 jacks as the "Independent Dual Headphones". I however cannot for the life of me figure out how to edit the jack settings on my sound drivers. I am currently running WIndows Vista and have uninstalled and reinstalled the sound drivers and even updated them as well but that doesnt seem to work. I would really appreciate any help and advice i could get. Thank you!

So the same thing happens to me. I'm listening to music while I work. I make a call and plug in a headset so people can understand me better on Skype. Then unplug headset to listen to music again, there is no sound. I can open a new browser and continue listening (jango.com). Built in speakers on a laptop. So all the suggestions above about 'is the volume muted?', 'are the speakers plugged in?', 'did the speakers get damaged?' yada yada, all don't apply. Anybody know how to get that browser to play again? I even close the tab and repopen jango in another, doesn't help. Can't play youtube, etc. All sound from that browser session is going to oblivion. Where do I set it to go back to speakers?

Thanks.

Recently, I have been having trouble with my laptop. Let me say this first but my laptop is probably the worst in the world because of the many things it has done to me and also it's small amount of RAM.

Recently, my laptop had crashed probably due to using all it's RAM and when it had finally finished booting up. It was running normally. There was sound coming through the speakers in the front. When I had plugged in my headphones, there was no sound coming through them. Now, I have encountered this problem before and it has fixed itself a couple of days later when I had left it running. In the past and recently I have tried restarting my sound services via Microsoft Management Console, updating my drivers, disabling the speaker and enabling it, and even restarting my computer and nothing works.

Is there a way to fix this without waiting for a couple of days to fix itself or how to prevent this from happening again once it's fixed? I would really like to know.

Hi..
I just installed a used sound card that I got from a friend free, a Soundblaster Live! Value card. Before I had a cheap SB card, 128D or something. Anyway, I removed my old card from device manager and then I turned off the computer and took the old card out and put the new one in. Then I switched the computer back on, it gave me some grief about the drivers and such but I fixed that and device manager now says its fine.

Also, before with my old card I just had the card appear on Device Manager and that was it. Now, I have this new tree appear that says "Miscallaneous Creative Devices" (?), and under that is "Creative Multimedia Interface", and "Creative SB Live! SB16 Emulation". I don't know what those are. Then under "Sound, Video and Game Controllers" I have the "SB Live! Value" card show up. I don't know why 3 new things appeared when I only installed the sound card, but whatever. Device Manager says there are no problems, conflicts, whathaveyou.

Everything looks fine and I have the little volume control thing on the taskbar as well as "SB Live! Mixer" on there, I used to have that with my old card but it had a different name but the same icon. Anyways...I started up Winamp and played an MP3, but there's no sound coming from my Boston Acoustic Speakers which have a subwoofer. I have the setup where you plug the subwoofer into the soundcard and then the two speakers are connected to the sub... Read more

Answer:new sound card -- no sound thru speakers with sub

Welcome to techsupportguy smoothcrimin
I think that you might have a problem with drivers ... Basically using the old SB drivers with the new SB card. It's normal to have a new entry in Device Manager ( why creative labs makes it , i really don't know). Try and remove all the entries in Device Manager ( SB wise) , restart in Safe Mode( if you have win98 or win ME , for win2k or XP is a different story) and do the same thing. Power down , then go ahead move the card to a different slot. Power up and install the lastest drivers for SB ( from www.soundblaster.com )

My Y50 had the left speaker clicking sound and muffled sound from day one (last month) March 2015After much time and pain I worked out the problem was the cooling fins next to the cooling fans were flexing and I presume touching the left speaker wire which runs along under neath the cooling fins. I could get the clicking sound to happen every time if I applied a small amount of pressure on the cooling tubes that sit on top of the cooling fins.I then placed a small piece of cardboard on the left side under the cooling fins to raise them only about 2 mm and this has fixed the problem. no more damm clicking sound and muffled sound Hey Lenovo fix you effin Y50 laptop !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Lenovo ideapad with Windows 8.1 has been having problem with too small sound, and I went to search the methods to improve it and found that I could activate the Sound Equilizer from sound setting. However, each time I try to do so, any software that plays music stops playing any sound. Their "play" button do not react anymore, or they send me error message as I double click on sound file to play with them. How can I fix this error? The action I took was as follows:right side of tool bar --> Right click on the sound icon --> Sounds --> playback (left most tab) --> double click on speaker "Conexant Smartaudio HD" --> Expansion (third tab) --> check "Sound equilizer", the fourth option in the gray box of Expansion, and click OK to complete the setting. After this action, no sounds can be played using any programm - I tried Windows Media Player, iTunes, Quicktime Player, VLC Media Player, the Windows 8 Music Player. None of them worked. Some sends me message that the format of the sound file is not readable, even though they are very normal mp3 or wav files. To fix this I had to bring all changed settings of Sound to original. Then the files can be played again. What can I do to fix the small sound problem?

Answer:Sound Issues Ideapad P500 - Sound stops working after 5 minutes

hi D,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

From your observation, it's possible that the root cause is the sound driver.

To verify, can you try the following:
1. Uninstall the Realtek HD Audio Driver from the Control Panel (large icon view) > Programs and Features and reboot

2. After the reboot, Windows will now install a generic sound driver (High Definition Audio). Try to re-create the issue that you're having and observe.

3. If using the generic sound driver fixes it, try re-installing the audio driver from the D:\Drivers\Audio folder or from this link:

Realtek Audio Driver for 64-bit Windows

Let me know how it goes.

Welcome to the Support Forums!

In the Control Panel window find Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices section and open it. Then select the Sounds and Audio Devices. A new Window should open, select the Audio tab (top line of buttons) and click on it.
In the Sound Playback section: from the drop down menu, are your Bluetooth Speakers listed as the audio output device?
