I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I haven't used my Toshiba Laptop in a few years and now when I try to use it its asking for a bios password and I have no idea what it is. I've looked up solutions to this on google and they say the bios password needs to be reset. I've seen lots of tutorials on YouTube on how to do it, but none of them help with the exact layout of the mother board I have. Could anyone help?

As a result, I'm going to close this one up.

So my laptop (Toshiba Satellite L775) doesn't boot, unless I remove and reinsert the cmos battery (located behind the ram). Also the laptop screen doesn't receive power. After the cmos trick I don't have to press the power button and the laptop boots the moment I connect my adaptor. I am able to use my laptop by connecting an external screen.
Things I did:
-check voltage on my adaptor (A ok)
-check CMOS battery voltage (3.08V, also tried a new one to no avail)
-check the power button by checking the resistance with a multimeter and seeing it go from infinity to zero when I press the power button
-check the voltage on the wires that power the screen (0 V DC, is the DC a correct assumption?)
-pushing the power button repeatetly (no effect)
-holding the power button to clear the remaining power from the board ( without the battery/adaptor), this didn't help but was neccesary to make the CMOS-battery trick work

My friends computer said this:

Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer.
This error can be caused by unplugging a removable storage device such as an external USB drive while the device is in use, or by faulty hardware such as a hard drive or CD-ROM drive that is failing. Make sure any removable storage is properly connected and then restart your computer.

If you continue to receive this error message, contact the hardware manufacturer.
Status: 0xc00000e9

Info: An unexpected I/O error has occurred.

I suspect that this is a hard drive failure and now you can't even F8 into safemode

using F12 you get to the boot menu:

I think this proves that you're not dealing with a hard drive that slipped out of its socket...

Just let go as far as it can go and this is all you get:

underwhelming to say the least.

additionally, and unrelated, my macbook's optical drive quit so I can't burn a boot cd to test the laptop so I'm fishing around for someone who might recognize this as a typical Toshiba satellite L775 failure well understood, etc...

Please let me know what you think

Hi all,

I recently upgraded my Toshiba Satellite L775-14E from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and have been having an issue with the built-in display. It is running an Intel HD Graphics 3000 GPU.

When I restart the laptop or turn on after a hard reset (i.e. after dead battery) the screen doesn't display anything after the windows logo during bootup. However, when I shut down the computer and restart manually (i.e. using the 'fast boot') the screen works fine. I have noticed that if I plug a monitor into the HDMI port when the laptop screen isn't working, the monitor displays the login screen. I have logged in and used the computer using the monitor, but the built-in laptop screen is not detected in the display properties and as a result I can't use the laptop's display until I shutdown and manually restart the laptop.

The latest driver is installed for the GPU (downloaded via windows device manager).

I saw a post on another site mentioning that somebody had a similar issue and they fixed it by updating the BIOS - I have checked and found that the BIOS version I have is over 4 years old. I wasn't sure about this because I have heard of the risks associated with BIOS updating and I am confused by the downloads available from Toshiba Support. As can be seen in the following link, there are 2 versions - 2.3-WIN (OS Independent) and 2.3 (Windows 8 - Upgrade). I'm not entirely certain which one to use... I have called Toshiba technical support b... Read more

Answer:Difference between Satellite L775-111 and L775-13D

Hi geoff01,

You can compare both notebooks on Toshiba UK website:
http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/product/Satellite-L775-111/1106842
http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/product/Satellite-L775-13D/1110294

It seems they have the same specifications but the L775-13D has 6GB RAM instead 4GB so I would buy the 13D version :)

I'm having a problem with a Toshiba Satellite L300D. After I reinstalled the HDD it would beep. To solve this I went into BIOS to look and see if the board had some sort of intrusion setting. When I exited the BIOS and restarted I know get the Enter Current Password (with a blue background on a black screen) with continuos beeps. The thing is it seems to auto enter in 10 characters (*) and then stop. There are no other options.

I have searched unsuccessfully for any info about this and I cant even find where the CMOS is located which I think is soldered onto the board.

Has anybody had any similar experience like this?
I would really appreciate any help its driving me crazy.

Hello,
my Satellite L775 has a problem. I don?t know why the FN key is active afrer reboot. I?m able to "disable" it with pressing it twice, but after a reboot it?s active again. I prefer the norm,al layout so I get a "1! if I press the key. Who knows a way to invert the recent FN-function?

Answer:Your opinion about Satellite L775-111

Hi Geoff,

I don?t have this model in front of me but I have tested it a little bit in my favorite computer store and checked the specifications online on Toshiba website.

It?s great notebook for basic applications like Internet, Office, E-Mails, pictures, music, etc. The 17? display is great and perfect for Blu-ray and other videos. Also it?s comfortable to work on it. With second generation of Intel Core CPUs it?s nice to work because it has good performance. Furthermore it has Onkyo speakers.

The preinstalled Windows 7 version offers some nice applications like Eco Utility that helps saving energy and enhances battery life, antivirus, burning program and other tools are already preinstalled. So it?s really read to use.

Other Toshiba models like C670 and P770 have 17? display too.

Okay, so I've had my Satellite L775-111 for a while now and in that time its served me faithfully. Recently however, the original hard disk died and I had to replace it. For the most part, there haven't been any problems with that, but I'm now tearing my hair out over the Toshiba Blu-Ray player or, rather, lack of it. It was on the original machine, but with the change in hard disk I lost all my software. I've been trawling through the driver pages and various other software sites but I can only find UPDATES which obviously don't work without the player itself.

Does anyone know where I might be able to get the software and relevant drivers again? Not being able to watch my DVDs/Blu-rays is becoming a real pain and I don't really know of any other service I can use without having to shell out even more money for it.

Answer:Satellite L775-111 and Blu-Ray Player

If you have changed HDD best solution for you is to install original recovery image and use your notebook with factory settings again.
Original recovery image is a software package that includes Os, all important drivers and additional software like DVD or BR player.

Hello,

Is there any way to control the fans on my new Satellite L775 ? I'm trying to get them at full speed in order to cool more efficently my CPU and (most importantly) my GPU, which overheats quite a lot after some Crysis or another game.

I also would like to know: does opening my laptop in order to replace the thermal paste (I did this on my old Dell, and it helped a lot) would void my warranty or something like that ?

Thanks for you answers,
Rallymen007

EDIT: renamed question: i forgot to type what was the problem.

Answer:Satellite L775-11N - Fan control

Only one fan control option can be found in advanced power plan options > Toshiba power saver > coolig method.

When you play games use high performance power plan and be sure cooling method is set to maximum level.

>...does opening my laptop in order to replace the thermal paste ...
Of course. You should not do it on your own. By the way: you have newest notebook model so I don?t understand how do you come across idea to change thermal paste. After two years OK but why now?

Hi!

I have a Toshiba Satellite L775-10P, and I was thinking on buying a SSD and change it for the HDD that comes originally with the computer.

I have already created the recovery disks, so I will be able to run the recovery from the DVD unit. But I have seen in the forums that some people are having issues when restoring the system to a new modern drive.

I want to ask if anyone has experience in changing his laptop drive for an SSD, and if there are any known issues when restoring the system.

Thanks,

Ricard

Answer:Re: Installing a new SSD on Satellite L775-10P

Hi Richard

I have two older notebook models P300 and P500 both upgraded with SSDs. On both machines I?ve installed original recovery image without any problems.

After doing this I have noticed extremely fast boot up and notebook operate much faster than before.
In my opinion after RAM upgrade it was my best investment to increase notebook?s performance.

By the way: info about SSDs you can pick up on http://storage.toshiba.eu/cms/en/index.html
Of course you can buy SSDs from other manufacturer too.

Hi,

I bought a L775 almost a year ago, but today it stopped booting. It freezes at the BIOS screen (Toshiba logo).
No activity from the HDD LED, but all the others are fine.

I think the HDD is faulty, as I swapped it with my portable Linux and it works.

However the HDD (a Seagate Momentus XT ST95005620AS) is working on another computer, and even on Linux with the Toshiba (on an external HDD enclosure). It has some bad sectors (SMART fails), but it works the way it should.

I tried to clean the CMOS, wipe the HDD (using GParted), but nothing.

Any ideas ?

I think it fails because of the SMART, like the BIOS won't boot on this HDD because of the errors, but I'm not sure. I wanted to upgrade the BIOS (I think I upgraded to 1.90 but there's a 2.0 out), but it looks like it's a Windows-only software.

Thanks for your replies

EDIT: I can boot on the disk when it's inside a USB enclosure.

Answer:Satellite L775-11N won't boot

Hi

I don?t think that this issue is realted to the HDD fault.
Even if the HDD is faulty, the notebook should pass the POST (power on self-test) properly? but it doesn?t? it freezes at the Toshiba splash screen and this mean that the POST has not been passed?

I think you should check the RAM. An faulty RAM can cause such problems?
Otherwise it might be an serious issue with motherboard.

Hello,
I just bought this laptop this afternoon, and when I transported it upstairs I had to disconnect the charger. The laptop turned itself off. I would have thought that after having it plugged in for an hour, it would have charged at least a little bit! I've had it plugged in upstairs for an hour, and the charging icon is still stuck on '0% available (plugged in, charging)'. The laptop is clearly receiving power else it would not even be on, so why is not charging the battery?

Never mind, after another couple of hours it started charging and is now at 100%.

Hi,

I have a Satellite L775, and want to do a factory recovery.

When I use F8 the Toshiba Recovery Wizard does not work. I think it could not fint the HDDRECOVERY partition.

The problem could be that I've divided my C partition into two. The HDDRECOVERY partition is untouched though.

Any solutions?

Answer:Satellite L775 - Recovery from HDDRecovery

Problem ist that after changing partitions structure system cannot find Recovery image saved on the HDD.
Have you created recovery disc following instructions in user's manuals document?

If you have created recovery disc use it for recovery image installation. This will work.

I turn on the computer and the screen is not working. Everything seems fine but the screen is all black.

Nothings happening. I've tried turning it off and on and its still not working.
I have also tried connecting it to my tv with hdmi-cable.

What should I do?

Answer:Screen is not working on Satellite L775-10E

Connect it on TV and wait until Windows 7 is fully loaded (you will hear Win sound) than try to use FN+F5 several times. Maybe it will switch the desktop on the TV. Be also sure you use right settings on TV (right HDMI port must be enabled).

F nothing helps I presume display may be defective so contact nearest Toshiba service and let them check your notebook.

I've had my Satellite L775-119 since 2011. Recently I've noticed it will crash when I'm charging it when booted up into Windows, especially when play video online, when I disconnect the charger, the fan will slow down and act normally.

I'm thinking that Windows may need wiping and re-installing, its seems to do it when I?m trying to do too much multi tasking, any one had the same problem or can offer any advice please?

Thanks David

Answer:Satellite L775-119 crashes when charging

I?m confused about your message.
When does the notebook crash? Only when the AC adaptor is connected or also while running on battery power?

Since its not clear for me if its an software or hardware related issue, I would recommend you to test the notebook using the factory settings. I mean you should recover the notebook back to factory state using recovery disk.

Perform some tests and post some feedback.

hello

First, I have win7 on this device, then I purchased a mictosoft windows 8 pro for it.
When I upgraded it went fine for a few months and then it started to crash on its own.

I tried so much to rebuild the PC using Toshiba's software to no avail.
In the end I deleted all partitions and rebuilt it with win8.
As I upgrade to win8.1 it only gets to first sceen and then back again, even through there's nothing installed.

When I re-did it three times and in the end I gave up, and now just want it at least to work with win8
all Toshiba's software ask for .net3.5, whereas what I have is 4.5.

I went to several websites to find answer and it tells of a method to re-enable feature, but when I do it, it can't find the necessar files.

Now I would like to restart from scratch ... where can I download tosh's original software as a pack?
Or find a solution to this BSD problem

thanks.

Answer:Satellite L775 goes into BSOD after upgrade to Win 8.1

Every system upgrade requires some rules.
If you want to use the Win 8.1 on this notebook, you should firstly check if this system is supported on this notebook.

On this page you will find all the details regarding the Win 8.1
http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/generic/windows8_1-message/

So in case you want to use Win 8.1 you have to check if your notebook model is supported.
If it?s supported, you should follow the step by step instruction how to update the system to Win 8.1. All the Toshiba software as well as the tools and drivers needs an update to Win 8.1

In case the Win 8.1 isn?t supported on this notebook, the Toshiba tools and utilities will not work properly in connection with this system.

Had my L775-119 for a few weeks, and it's going great, really pleased but am just wondering if it's possible, sometime in the future to upgrade the DVD RW Drive to a Blu ray re-writer?

Answer:Satellite L775-119 - Upgrade with blu-ray drive?

Hello

I?m not Satellite L775 owner but I think it should be possible because some L770/L775 models are delivered with blu-ray drive so generally speaking it seems that the notebook support such drives.

But you can get an exact answer from an authorized service provider. The guys can order a compatible drive for you and install it if you are not familiar with notebook part exchange.

Do you know how to contact an authorized service provider?

Then it stops and wants a username and another password, I have no idea what the password is and am not sure of the username. Its running windows seven and do sent seem to have anything wrong with it but somehow I must have switched the settings by accident, or brain fart.

Any advice I can get would be greatly appreciated, also if I enter the incorrect username or password enough times will it lock up. I am nervous of doing something really hard to reset if I put in the wrong ones.

Answer:need some help with the password on toshiba satellite a505

You need to get into safemode and run a virus scan. The login at the first boot of Windows is the only login credentials you should need and anything after that without extra enterprise level software could very well be a virus.

Hi,

Friend of mine runs a small farm supply business, he had three reps, he now has two. The third bought his own laptop on company credit card (allowed) it's a Toshiba Satellite L640. He handed it back in on his last day (unwillingly) friend tried to start it up and goes straight to a black screen with blue password box, can't F2 or F12 just goes straight to password, can't boot off CD. Former employee won't answer phone calls and not sure he would provide it anyway.

Help please?

Answer:Toshiba satellite L640 password

You are going to have to reset the bios password which will involve dismantling the laptop. Is it still under warranty? I'm sure your friend has the proper documentation to prove he owns it, therefore, if it's still under warranty, he can get help from Toshiba.

If it is no longer under warranty, however, there are ways to reset the bios password, as I mentioned, but it will involve dismantling the laptop.

Toshiba Satellite Pro M-15, "outta the blue" now thinks it has a HDD password??? how'd that happen?

the manual says to hold 'ESC' and hit the power button from a dead startup, and that allows me to press F1 and enter Setup. No worky. The system goes directly to the "Enter the HDD Password" screen.

Anyone encounter this before? surely this is not a hack job.... how do you dive through the OS layers all the way to BIOS and setup a bogus pwd. Plus, in the Toshiba world, the HDD password has to match an Administrator boot password... neither of which have ever been setup on this system.

??

I'm thinking I'm going to have to crack the case and pull the bios batt out.

Answer:Toshiba Satellite Pro thinks it has a HDD password?

You?ll have to take the laptop to the authorized center. A certified technician has to call Toshiba and get the special code to unlock the laptop.
I have tried many ways to unlock a password protected hard drive, and its no go.
You will have to replace the hard drive- the cmos battery will not help the hard drive problem.

I have a Toshiba Satellite L775 laptop. I run Win 7 Home Premium. My mouse pad is not working properly. I also have a Logitech Anywhere MX cordless mouse. I have tried getting the mouse pad to work properly by FN Key and F9 but that does not work. And you really have no idea if that is turning on or off the mouse pad anyway, subj for another time I guess.

What does work but I have to do it everytime is go to Control Panel then Mouse option load that and just scroll through the tabs not changing anything and then close out and the touch pad works. But only for that session. If I close my laptop or turn it off I have to go through the whole process all over again.

What has happened and how do I fix this?

I didn't do anything with my computer and now when I insert my usual SDHC Card 8GB I am asked to format the card.

I have just downloaded driver "Card Reader Controller" from Toshiba Site but nothing has changed.

I am quite desperate as I am just back from Holidays and I can't wait to download my pictures on my computer.
Could someone help me to resolve this problem pleeeaaaase?

Thanks in advance!

Virginie

Answer:Satellite L775-12L refuses to open SD Card

Answer "No" if asked to format the card. After, run command promt as administrator. Check letter name SD Card Reader. In command promt type "chkdsk /f %letter name SD Card Reader%:" and press Enter.

I would like to use (and connect) my laptop Satellite L775-12L in my car.

Do you know of any power supply I could use with the 12V voltage and specific plugs in the cars ?

As this laptop AC adapter has specific outputs (19V, 3,95A), I was wondering if any of you had experience with car power supplies that would work with this laptop (I did use a standard one without any success).

Many thanks !

Answer:Satellite L775 - Power supply for cars

Hi

I googled for Satellite L775 power card adapter and found some online offers.
It?s important that the card adaptor would provide an output 19V

Of course you can contact the Toshiba service provider in your country and can order an Toshiba genuine part from the guys.

My battery is currently saying 'consider replacing your battery' as it doesnt hold a charge completely. Had the laptop just over 2 years so I guess a replacement battery is needed.

Problem is I cant seem to find one compatible, or I am doing something wrong?
The first one i bought, the website clearly indicated it was for my laptop model, however when I connected it up the orange battery light would flash and the laptop wouldnt switch on. I charged it overnight, and same thing.

The second one I bought, again website clearly indicated it was for my laptop model, and again did the same as above.
Is there something I should be doing that I haven't done or have I just been unlucky with the batteries I have bought?
Laptop batteries aren't easy to return 'cos of Royal Mail restrictions so any help would be appreciated.

Why not? When you remove eh battery there you will find part number. All you must do is to order new one following this part number. And of course I recommend you to buy original Toshiba battery and not some cheap no name product.

By the way: follow batteries are listed as compatible

i am fixing toshiba satellite laptop for a friend of mine; i dont know the specs, model number, or anything. when he bought it from a friend of his, the thing came with a password. after turning it on, the Toshiba logo appears and goes straight to asking for the password. when he told me about this problem, i thought is was an xp password, however, upon turning it on i found this out. im guessing that the password was created with the motherboard. Any help with getting this password off? if i have to take it apart, do you have any knowledge of taking one apart or a guide book. thx

Take out the CMOS battery for a couple minutes, replace it and that should reset the BIOS to defaults, including the BIOS password.

Hello.

My son has bought a new toshiba satellite pro C650 laptop from a shop.
It boots into win 7 desktop, but it wont let us do anything on it,we try to register password,no good, then try user account password, but no good, also we can't get to administrator.

It has several big icons on the right hand side of screen as well, which i assume the shop put on there as advertising,so we need to get rid of them as well, but at the moment we can't do anything.

we have registered the laptop with toshiba okay.
Could anyone tell us how to activate this laptop please?

Thanks.

Hello Expert,
Last week, I stayed at rented place for a week. To protect my Laptop, I created a user login with password. In mean while I also deleted the the guest and adminstrator account (default account). I donot know why...
now I removed the password from user login. so I can access the machine without waiting for autentication...

But today when I tried to install a software, it is asking me for password of Toshiba account.

upto my best knowldege, I have never created a Toshiba account...all my accounts are without password..

From internet I found this software to read the password of window...(opcrack)..
This software is showing four account on the machine(Guest, Administrator, dkengg,ASpnet) without passport.

there is no clue of Toshiba....and on control panel->useraccount->(there is only one account dkengg) because I have deleted all other last week..

any clue on Toshiba password...

I have bought this laptop from Carphone warehouse ..
so if you need any autentication, then plesase let me know..
I can provide all the copy of bills..

Cheers,
DK

Answer:Toshiba Password request on Satellite L300-16L

At first I must say this is user-to-user forum so this with bills and copies will not work here. Maybe you should contact your local dealer or authorized Toshiba service.

I really don't know what you have done but fact is that Toshiba notebooks are not delivered with any passwords and restrictions. When you get new notebook everything is ?open? and you can create own accounts (during setup procedure at first start-up) and passwords.

I am afraid you have done something wrong and now you get this password request.
Can you, maybe sent a screenshot of your desktop when this request is shown?

My son purchased a Toshiba Satellite x205 laptop at a yard sale and they did not provide a password for the BIOS. Is there anything I can do about it??? Thanks.

Answer:No Password for Toshiba Satellite x205 laptop

There is an old trick that might work here. I don't know that laptop model off the top of my head but with what I can tell you, maybe you can research a bit and find out where it is. Unplug the laptop and take the battery out. Then, remove the CMOS battery and leave it all unplugged for about 20 minutes (just in case) and put everything back together. This will reset the BIOS for you where no password is needed. Jonas "Jackal" Learhttp://www.sbccrew.comServing the South Bay Since 1999

Thank you in advance

ludonly, France

Answer:Satellite L775 no longer works - 5 short beeps

Hi

Please keep posting in English language.

Regarding the issue:
I would recommend you to check if it?s RAM module problem. The RAM malfunction could lead to the same start-up problems.
If RAM modules are OK, the motherboard could be faulty and needs to be replaced.
But new motherboard is very expensive part. I think you will have to spend around 250?-350? for such repair.

However, new motherboards can be ordered from local authorized service provider or online resellers.

Hi everyone,

I have a Satellite L775-140. I decided to restore my notebook to factory settings so I?ve created 4 CDs using preinstalled Toshiba recovery disc creator tool.

However, when I put the first CD, after a few minutes, there was a error:

diskpart successfully formatted the volume.

copy files recovery bases

htmprep ...

boot ...

establishment file error - data error (cyclic redundancy check)

error: copying of files based recovery failed!

press any key to continue. . .

What to do? Knowing that I have these recovery CDs, is there a way around how to install it?
Could anyone help me? Generally speaking I have several problems but I have not found an answer or find the same situation as me.

Thank you for your help

Answer:Canot install recovery image on Satellite L775-140

This with recovery image installation is pretty simply: either it works or not. Problem can be some mistake on recovery discs or maybe on HDD.
Do you use these created discs for the first time now?
>... is there a way around how to install it?
As far as I know there is no some kind of work around that you can use to force recovery image installation.
Try to start installation one more time.

Hi all,

i own a Satellite L770/L775 18Q.

Problem is that the screen stays black, no HD reading, nothing happens
All started with when i installed the program intel turbo boost, shouldn't have done that i suppose.

It looks like that the bios is corrupt or something, i have no idea at all since nothing works , not with F2 either.
I know that my laptop is still under warranty but maybe it can be fixed somehow.

Please.

Greetings
Fred

Answer:Satellite L775-18Q - nothing works after using intel turbo boost

I doubt that an installation of an application, driver or software would cause such issue?possibly it?s simply a bad luck that this happened after the Intel Turbo boos installation?

So I would recommend a short workaround but if this fails, don?t lose any time and get in contact with an Toshiba ASP in your country to get this fixed under warranty conditions.

+Workaround:+
Remove AC adaptor and battery
Wait some minutes (30min)
Then press power button 30sec long
Now connect battery and AC adaptor and press power button to power up the unit.

Hi.

I have a new Toshiba Satellite L775 with HDMI output.

I wanted to connect the notebook to my TV for looking pictures via HDMI.
But it didn't work.
I connected the notebook with HDMI wire to my Samsung-LCD-TV.
Both, wire and TV already work. (Normally I use the wire for receiver to TV, without any problems).

I tried to change the output with Fn+F5 to TV-monitor (or TV-monitor & notebook).
But the TV doesn't detect the notebook, anyway.

What's wrong?

Thank you for solutions.

Best regards
WE34

Answer:HDMI output doesn't work on Satellite L775

> But the TV doesn't detect the notebook, anyway.
Does the notebook detect TV? With other words, when you use FN+F5 are several options available including HDMI option?

I presume your TV has several HDMI ports so if you use HDMI1 switch TV to HDMI1 port and when you do this use FN+F5 key combination on your notebook and chose HDMI option on TV only.

You want to reset it, or remove it? Once you enter the original password, there should be an option to do either, but I am not familiar with Toshiba's bios. But you will need the original password.

1. Welcome to Tech Support Guy
2. If you KNOW the password this is the procedure
http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Comput...-UEFI-BIOS-or-HDD-hard-disk-drive/ta-p/407769
If you know the password for the BIOS or UEFI or don't have one set, you can change or remove a password through the UEFI/BIOS settings, Hardware Setup Utility, or TOSHIBA Security Assist Utility.
As explained on the link with the sub links to the appropriate OS

Answer:Satellite L775: No 'BlueRay Player' download after update to Windows 8

Hi

I read in the forum that Toshiba 'BlueRay Player' is an licensed software and therefore it?s not possible to download such software from Toshiba EU driver page.

If you want to install and to use the Toshiba 'Blu-Ray Player' after Win 8 update, you have to contact the Toshiba Support Centre agent (hotline) and have to request such software for download.

There is also another option to play Blu-ray disk. You could use an 3rd parts tool called VLC player (freeware) which allows you to play such movies.

Laptop running Vista abruptly developed a password requirement - it was just a light blue screen with a box to input a password.  Everything I entered was wrong, and attempting to start the Satellite by tapping F8 or with a Vista disc brought up that same screen.I bit of internet investigation showed that Toshiba laptops can be prone to this behavior, and that there's not much to be done other than resetting the BIOS.  I started stripping down the laptop and got frustrated when I finally saw that the CMOS battery was soldered to the motherboard without a pin connection that could be unplugged.  I soldiered on and saw many webpages that instructed people with a method to short out the BIOS using a jumper.I unplugged the laptop, removed the battery, HDD, and memory, and used a pair of needle nose pliers to touch this area under the RAM while simultaneously touching a metal bar.  I plugged in the laptop and turned it on while continuing to make contact, holding it for about 30 seconds.I unplugged, reconnected the RAM, the HDD, the battery and the power cord, turned it on and was prepared to be amazed.Instead I got nothing.  No video at all.  The machine DID turn on - I could see the proper lights turned on, and the fan was whirring, but no video or sound.I then connected the laptop to an external monitor.  Nothing.  I pressed the proper keys (fn + F5) to toggle between the laptop display and the monitor.  Nothing. Is there anythin... Hi guys & gals,

I've had this L775-11F since Christmas, and I've noticed on occasion that the screen seems to lose some clarity, and go a little pale. It's nothing to do with the screen dimming when the backlight reduces to save power, as I can be typing when it happens. I've found that moving the hinge back and then forth again to the same angle corrects it, so I'm wondering if there's a problem with the electrical connection on the screen. Anyone else had that?

My power cable also seems to have a mind of its own, and will slowly eject itself even if there's no-one using it. Is this something that happens a lot? This is my first Tosh, and it's mighty annoying, as I can't guarantee a full charge of the battery, or use the laptop safely without the battery installed, as the thing just switches off when the power cable gets far enough out.

Finally, I have noticed that the trackpad surface is showing a lot of wear for a 6 month old laptop. The centre has become black and shiny. Looks a bit shabby for a laptop that's almost new.

D'ya think that any or all of these issues are worth contacting warranty/tech support over? The screen is the biggest worry, because if that goes over the 1 year, I'm goosed, even though it's been an issue since the laptop was a few months old. The problem is that it's an intermittent issue, which is difficult if not impossible to replicate at will. It's only happened 4 or 5 times so far, but it's a concern.

TIA

Mike. :) ... Read more

Let them check your notebook and do whatever must be done. Notebook has valid warranty and let Toshiba service people do their job and help you to have well working notebook.

Should I leave the laptop always connected on the charger power cord, no matter if it has full battery or not? Should I always let the battery drop to 10% and then charge it up to 100% and then remove the cord? Or should I do that from time to time and not every day?

Answer:Toshiba satellite P300 (-1CD) won't boot past toshiba splash screen.

Hello,

Perform the following steps:
-Remove the battery and Power adapter
-Press and hold the power button for 30-45 seconds (with battery and power still removed)
-Insert just the battery and attempt to boot the laptop.
-Insert just the power adapter and attempt to boot the laptop.

If still unsuccessful: Remember to remove battery and power before removing/installing components

-Remove the power and battery
-Remove the hard drive from the laptop and attempt to boot with the battery installed. Do you receive any error message?
-Remove the memory modules from the laptop
-Insert just the battery and attempt to start the laptop (you should receive beep error)
-Try inserting just one module of memory and test (swapping modules after each attempt)
-Remove the optical drive and test.
-Try disconnecting the CMOS battery for a few minutes then re-connect and try.

Hi,
My laptop cannot tell me any post after the Toshiba logo just black screen. Cannot get into the bios or anything... These are the things I have tried:
Taken hard drive out,
Taken ram out and only tried one..
Taken Battery Cmos battery out for a few minutes..
Had a look at the motherboard and fan is not even working when I turn it on..
I have taken the cpu and put it back in..
Defiantly Sounds like the motherboard problem but want to know if its just a chip that needs to be replaced and soldered.. If anyone has any ideas that will be awesome.

Thanks

when using the above card, and TRENDnet TEW-311BRP WireLess Broadband Router, I cannot get a stable connection.

It always connect and disconnect me.

I use this machine and card all over the world: airports, hotels, offices and it works great.

I asked the dealer to replace the 311. Same problem.

However, if I stick TRENDnet PCMCIA card and disable the Toshiba Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card, I connect w/o disconnections.

any idea?

Greetings, I am trying to update my Toshiba Satellite P50-C-11M through the Service Station, however an error occurs. Please note the laptop is roughly a week old only.

As I press install on the updates I get the following message: "The software update download operation failed. Reason: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {4991D34B-80A1-4291-83B6-3328366B9097}.

I tried the following solutions and nothing worked:
1. Updated the BIOS Independently from the Toshiba Europe Website.
2. Uninstalled the Service Station and reinstalled it again.

Thank you, and I hope this helps others too.

Hi...

I had been using Toshiba A30 for a pretty long time but I had some serious problems and contacted local Customer Support Dept... But I thought it's better to contact Toshiba Europe or Toshiba Worldwire regarding my concern...

Thanks..

Answer:Satellite A30 Should I contact Toshiba Europe or Toshiba Worldwide?

Hi

What a strange question?.
If you have some problems with you notebook you have to contact the authorized service provider in your country.
The technicians should help you.
But listen; if your notebook is out of warranty (and I think it is) you will have to pay for the reparation!!

But what?s a problem with you unit???

Missing Ethernet, Network, PCI Simple Communications, SM Bus and Universal controller drivers. This isn't my laptop, I'm just fixing it for a friend.

Someone on another forum asked for this information:
PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8136&SUBSYS_FB371179&REV_05
PC\VEN_10EC&DEV_8136&SUBSYS_FB371179
PC\VEN_10EC&DEV_8136&CC_020000
PC\VEN_10EC&DEV_8136&CC_0200

I don't know if I need more, but I tried downloading plenty of driver to no avail.

Hello!

I have a Toshiba P100 - 347. And yesterday I entered password and now when I turn on the computer, it doesn't accept. It appears Setup inform: invalid password.
It's just after turns on, after appears The Toshiba logo.

Can someone help me?

Answer:Satellite P100-347 doesn't accept BIOS password - It appears: invalid password

Hi

You have used simply a wrong BIOS password. Either you have mistyped, mixed some letters or for example the caps lock buttons was enabled.
Please check these possibilities.

By the way; it?s not possible to bypass the unknown BIOS password by yourself.
If the BIOS password in unknown you will have to contact the ASP in your country to unlock the computer and to delete the BIOS password.

I have a friend with Toshiba Notebook.
His wife messed around with the notebook, and tried to get around his windows password. Some how she got into the bios, because she saw F2 for setup. She then somehow put in a password for the BIOS. She thought is was her name, but that does not work. It will not boot with a dos system disc.

The machine will not boot. It will not get pass the enter BIOS password screen. Three tries and your out.

It is a Phoenix bois and I have tried all the backdoor words.

Any other suggestions.

Thanks

Answer:Bios Password Toshiba

If it's an older Toshiba, you can build a device from an old parallel printer cable. You connect certain pins to certain other pins (like connect 1 to 13, connect 2 to 7 and 10, etc...), plug it into the parallel port and boot up and it will allow you to get into the BIOS and reset the password. From what I remember, when you're in the BIOS, you have to set another password (make it simple like 1234) and the device lets you do this w/o asking for the current unknown password. You then save the changes to BIOS, shut down, remove the parallel cable thingy, reboot, enter the BIOS again, and remove the password you just created (like 1234). The parallel device has a catchy name like a 'boot blocker' or maybe 'BIOS booter' or something. They sell 'em pre-made on EBay but they only work on fairly old Toshiba's. I've only done this once about 4 or 5 years ago; it worked great when this guy's 5 year old go into the BIOS and BS'd his way into setting a password. We were all pretty stoked when this bootlegged printer cable let us reset the password!!! Anyway, I'm rambling... if it's an older Toshiba, look into it on Google or something. You can also get USB devices that do the same thing for newer Toshiba laptops, but they're not cheap; over $100 .... Just Google 'remove Toshiba password' or maybe 'reset {model number of laptop} password' or something. I dunno.... usually, these power on passwords... Read more
