IdeaCentre 510A - 90GV0003US - can I add an m.2 drive?

Question: IdeaCentre 510A - 90GV0003US - can I add an m.2 drive?

Hi all, this is the Lenovo I am considering buying: https://www3.lenovo.com/us/en/desktops-and-all-in-ones/ideacentre/500-series/IdeaCentre-510A-15IKL/p... Does it have both the tech and the physical space on the motherboard for me to install this m.2 drive as the new boot drive, while keeping the 2TB as a second drive: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16820147596 I am worried as one reviewer indicated that some of the motherboard components may be in the way of installing such an m.2 drive. Thanks.

Preferred Solution: IdeaCentre 510A - 90GV0003US - can I add an m.2 drive?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Question: Sony DRU-510A

I have a Sony DRU-510 external DVD burner and the manual says that it can be used with Apple computers. When I connect the burner and try to burn something it says that it cant do it because the drive is not suported. Does anyone know where I can get drivers for this or is it something else that would be wrong?

thanx, Cameron

Hi all.

My DVD-RW drive has been slow for a while, and I finally noticed why: it's running in PIO mode!!

What's weird is, I know it HASN'T been running in PIO mode all this format's life; this is a reletively recent happening (I can tell, since burning anything to DVD-R slows the PC down madly, and Nero's Data Verification takes 30 minutes/disk :/).

I've tried setting it to "DMA if Avalible", which did nothing; and I've tried uninstalling the drive, re-detecting it upon reboot, which did nothing too.

Does anyone have any ideas as to fixing this drive up, back into DMA mode?

Edit: Doh, I'm running Windows XP Pro (SP1 Installed), and my mobo is an MSI-6172.
If anyone needs any more info, ask etc

Thanks a lot.

I am using a Sony DRU-510A DVD writer and find that when I play them back using Windows Media Player direct from the CD or DVD, whichever disc was used, the playback is jumpy. The files played back from the HDD directly are perfect. If I copy the files back from the disc to my HDD they play perfectly.I have tried many different discs with the Sony writer without success. The software I am using to copy is RecordNow DX with Win XP Home Edition.I have tried sftware upgrade from the manufacturer and got the recent firmware upgrade from Sony. Anybody any ideas before I re-master.

Answer:Writing AVI files to DVD using DRU-510A

Apart from an update on chipset driver I can only suggest looking at a process in task manager which may be interfering with burning. A dv software user found his burning/rendering process glitchy and it took months to find out it was a fan kicking into the pcu's burning/rendering.

Question: Sony 510a / u14a

I have installed the sony DVD burner on an IBM Netvista 1.6g running Win 2000.

It works fine as a CD and Device manager sees it as what it is... a DVD RW.

Whenever I put a DVD in it does not see the disk. I have tried and searched all that I know with no success. I have found no one with a similar problem. It did the same as a u14a... I switched it to a 510a in desperation and upgraded the firmware... no help.

I hope that there is some really intellegent techie out there who can tell me the simple mistake that I am making.

Thanks

I recently bought an IdeaCentre desktop ( 510A-15ABR). It came with 12GB of RAM and is expandable to 16GB of RAM. I looked inside and saw that there are only 2 slots for RAM. I started looking for an 8GB RAM card to replace the 4GB RAM to gain the 16GB max and I came across 16GB RAM cards. Would I be able to buy two 16GB RAM cards for the two slots on the motherboard to acheive 32GB RAM? Are there other limitations besides the number of slots? Thanks in advance for any advise anyone can provide.

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Although there are 16 GB memory modules available for sale, your system is limited to a total of 16 GB maximum.  Sorry.  This kind of memory limitation is usually due to the type of motherboard and the chipset installed.

Lenovo has a PSREF sheet available for your model.  The PSREF lists all the specifications your system has.  For your reference I have included a link below....

Where do i begin this at the begining i suppose:

I have had the sony dru510A for over a year now and it has always served me well untill this week. Untill then i had always used the arita 4x media and never had a problem with it. then this week i found a firmware update for the sony that took my fimware up to 1.1A so i updated.
i also purchased some Arita 8x media as my local shop said "it will just drop down to the speed of you writer" which was handy as they no longer stock the arita 4x media.
Now this is where it gets complicated: my sony still writes perfectly to the 4x media i have left. But whenever i try to use the 8x media with any burning program the burn fails, for example with discjuggler i constantly get this error:

"(CDB:2a00000008d000001000,status:040002,sense:037303)OPC or PMA update error"

I hear you scream "ITS THE MEDIA", and thats exactly what i though but i also though well now would be as good a time as any to get a better writer so i purchased the pioneer 108.
And guess what it had exactly the same problems untill i installed the latest aspi drivers now it will at least burn using the media but for some reason it will only burn 4X and its supposed to burn at 16X max but obviously with 8x media it would have only had a max speed of 8, but it wont even do that.

i only tried moving the sony to my other machine but it has exactly the same errors there.

Does ANYONE have a possible idea to what i could be doing wrong here and... Read more

Hello

I've got a problem that I hope some of you can help shed some light on.

On tuesday afternoon I was working heavily to create a basic linux shell in c, using Bloodshed Dev-C++ and an putty (SSH) connection to the linux servers on my university.

The OS is XP home german version.
The connection was using the built-in wireless connection to a D-Link wifi router. It had a fully charged battery, but was using the the power adapter.

Now, everything was working just fine, I leave the computer for a little while and when I return, it's turned off.
When I try to turn it on, nothing happens. I pull the plug, reseat the battery and nothing happens. When I reconnect the power line, I get a very brief light on the power led, but that is that.

One or two days earlier I had a problem waking up from the sleep state, where the computer stopped loading XP and gave me a black screen instead of the login screen. After a hard off (4 sec power button) it worked like it should.

Does anyone have any idea on what the problem could be?
I called a shop that sells rebranded MSI notebooks, and this was the first time they'd heard of such a problem.

I'd call MSI, but they don't have a support office in Norway. I will use the warranty, but since I bought the computer abroad, it takes some planning, and thus if there is an easy fix I can do myself, I'd rather do that.

Any help you can give is appreciated!

Hope you or anyone else can help/advise? I have just bought a Sony DVD writer (510a) and as of yet I?m not very happy with the results. I?m trying to copy a simple data file (under 4 GB) to a DVD-R and I keep getting a fault of ?Data Job (name of session) Terminated With Errors. ERROR -10 at Sector 1767136 ?Disc Write Error ? Command:2A Sense :03 ASC:)0C, ASCQ:08. This happens on an actual ?write session? or on a ?Test? session and the disk is rejected each time. Media in use is Sony DVD-Rs 4.7 GB. I have searched on various web sites related to DVD writing problems and there have been a few reports of the same problem but no answer was found regarding eliminating the fault. I have DMA enabled ?If Available? in Win XP Pro. I did find a Q329112 on MSs site regarding problems with saving a large file (>4gb or more) when a ?Multisession? recording is tried. (I tried with a file of less than the suggested limit as well). I have set the software (RecordNow DX, supplied with the drive) to close session , all to no avail. I have also tried Roxio 5+ which finds the drive, writes the file but then reports a similar problem and also a ?Buffer overrun? problem. When I used a DVD-RW for the same session the file was saved with no reports of a ?problem?. Nearly all of the advice I have found on the internet tries to blame the Media used but hang on, this is a Sony drive and I?m using Sony Media!!This is my first experience of using DVD recorders and as such I think it?s been a waste of ti... I've checked out Sony's site and PriceWatch and I have come to the conclusion that the Sony DRU-510A & DW-U14A (with software) are the same hardware and software except the DW-U14A is an OEM release (white box) version of the DRU-510A.

In other words, one comes in a box like would sit on a shelf at a store like CompUSA and the other would be in a supply center for builders. Otherwise, there's no difference.

Does anyone have any information that I am wrong on this?

Once I plug this drive in the PC is very unstable. I've plugged it in by itself as master, secondary to Creative, Master with Creative, all the same results:

Anyone have any idea what's going on? hardware incompatibility? defective drive?

Answer:Sony DRU-510A DVD burner won't install - GPF

Can you return the drive? Sounds like it's a bad drive which is not surprising Sony makes allot of different drives but also remakes allot of drives, they have as many Remanufactured drives as new, must be a reason for all this rebuilding of brand new drives, and if you did get one of these remanufactured drives, Sony farms them out to what ever Joe Smoe shop on there list at the time and slaps a Sony RMF label on it. So if you can, return it and get a Pioneer, Ricoh, HP, Teac, Phillips etc. but not Sony

I am having trouble locating drivers for a HP Pavilion 510a. Looks like the previous owner did a fresh install of WinXP Pro but did not update all of the drivers. I am unable to connect to the internet and the Device Manager shows exclamation marks next to the following:

Ethernet Controller
Multimedia Audio Controller
Video Controller

I am also receiving a message about the PCI Simple Communications Controller - does this relate to one of the above or is this a separate issue?
Any advice would be very much appreciated!

I have a Lenovo IdeaCentre A530 running Windows 10. A few days ago windows installed an update and I had also clicked on something that popped up about updating Lenovo Drivers since then, my CD/DVD drive does not show up under My Computer, Device Manager or in the Bios. I can open the door and can hear it spinning if I put a CD or CD-ROM in. I've been through the online solutions such as deleting lower and upper filters in the registry key, adding a new DWORD registry entry, etc. I spent a day on chat with Microsoft support and had three techs access my computer to try things, including all the things I had already tried. They say that I need to get the CD/DVD driver from Lenovo, but I don't see one when I look up driver downloads for my machine. I also tried using windows built in Hardware troubleshooter. It says that it found a problems and needs to restart to fix them. One of the issues that it says it is fixing is "System Interface Foundation Device is not working properly." After the restart it finds the same issue and again says it needs to restart to fix it. I've been through this seemingly endless loop many times. I ran Lenovo System update. I also opened Lenovo Companion to do a hardware scan, but it says "Please install or update the Lenovo System Interface Driver for full funtionality of Companion, then restart the app after installation." and give me a button to click to install. If I do that it takes me online to download SystemInterfaceFounda... Read more

I created a USB recovery drive for my system but at the end of the process, I wasn't given the option to delete the recovery partition. Looking at the disk management tool I have two recovery partitions and an OEM partition totalling 31.5GB. When I check the recovery drive that I have just created there is 8.16GB of data used. Is this the correct behaviour or were the entire contents of the recovery partition supposed to be copied to the USB stick with the option to delete the partition afterwards?

Answer:Ideacentre AIO 700 recovery drive question

It should be copied, not deleted. I would not suggest deleting it anyways, Lenovo OneKey recovery will be really helpful when your computer crashes.

My new 510A-15ABR has had a hickup three times since purchase.    I have 337 days of warranty left but would rather solve the problem than return the computer.    Installation and setup was a breeze.   Several days after I had the computer, it went to sleep when I left to go to lunch.   When I returned, it wouldn't awaken from sleep, almost like a permanent hybernation.  The power button was blinking.   I moved the mouse, hit the ESC key, Windows key, even hit the power button without any response.   I turned the computer off, waited about 10 minutes and when I turned it back on, the results were the same, still in some sort of hybernation.    I disassembled the computer and took it back to Best Buy and when they plugged it in, everything worked fine.

This situation has happened twice since and the only way to get the computer to respond is to unplug the power supply and wait about 10 minutes.   Each time, that has solved the issue.    There are many times the computer will sleep but awaken as normal.    The power settings are blanced with 10 minutes monitor and 1 hour for the pc to sleep.

Is there a setting in Windows 10 or the bios that is causing this malfunction.   If it hadn't happened 3 times, I wouldn't be concerned but it is annoying.

Ideas?

I've had problems getting a new Sony DRU-510A DVD all-format DVD drive to read files on its own install DVD. The BIOS recognises the drive and Explorer lists the drive and files on the DVD, but the splash.exe file will not load (get a Windows box with ??????? in it). It's a replacement for a DVD read-only drive, so it's the Master drive on my secondary IDE channel, on an Athlon XP1800+ machine running XP Home.Bizarre thing is that it installs fine in my old Pentium 166 PC running Windows 98.Tried the Sony technical support who can now only suggest I update my chipset which I believe I've already done, and to contact the motherboard supplier.I'm now really stuck and have a £200 drive which I can't use on my new faster machine, with large drives, for video-editing and DVD creation. Please - any further ideas ??

By coincidence i installed one of these this morning!! Comes with a Silver front and a Black front too?? :-)) very nice!!Not on my PC though :-(((The splash.exe is a Flash file.Try going here and updating Flash first. click here This page will install Flash for you. Try again.Secondly you don't actually need to use the splash.exe. It just a front end. Cancel the splash.exe and navigate through the CD to install the software you need manually. Hi,Quick, very elementary, question from a newbie. I have a 2013 IdeaCentre B540 that came with a 540 GB HD. I have since swapped it for a 1TB drive, but do not know the exact connection for the drive (SATA 1, 2, or 3). Now, I would like to swap for a 2 TB hybrid drive that has an SATA III connection. I know the SATA III is backwards compatible, but I still do not know which connection is in my IdeaCentre B540. Can anyone tell me or tell me how to differentiate???Thanks for humoring such an elementary question with a proper answer. All the best

Answer:IdeaCentre B540 Hard drive swap

Hi dueducs,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Checking on the product specification for the Ideacentre B540:

SATA disk : 1TB, SATA 3.0Gb/s, 3.5" wide, 7200 rpmSATA controller: Serial ATA, SATA 3.0Gb/s support, integrated in chipset

Difference between SATA I, SATA II and SATA III

"SATA I (revision 1.x) interface, formally known as SATA 1.5Gb/s, is the first generation SATA interface running at 1.5 Gb/s. The bandwidth throughput, which is supported by the interface, is up to 150MB/s.SATA II (revision 2.x) interface, formally known as SATA 3Gb/s, is a second generation SATA interface running at 3.0 Gb/s. The bandwidth throughput, which is supported by the interface, is up to 300MB/s.SATA III (revision 3.x) interface, formally known as SATA 6Gb/s, is a third generation SATA interface running at 6.0Gb/s. The bandwidth throughput, which is supported by the interface, is up to 600MB/s. This interface is backwards compatible with SATA 3 Gb/s interface.SATA II specifications provide backward compatibility to function on SATA I ports. SATA III specifications provide backward compatibility to function on SATA I and SATA II ports. However, the maximum speed of the drive will be slower due to the lower speed limitations of the port. "

Several tools likewise can be used (sample1 sample2 sample3) to check from the chipset too.

Hope this help answer your query.

Seagate is a good brand for HDD. If you're looking for an SSD, I'll recommend Sandisk or Samsung.

Answer:IdeaCentre Q190 will not recognize BD Combo Drive

hi rikki_roche,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Can you check under your device manager if the drive is being detected there.
here is how it looks under device manager
http://www.techulator.com/attachments/Resources/2644-231713-DeviceManager.png

Most of the cases like yours, under device manager the DVD/BD is detected but has an error icon(Yellow sign).
If that's what you're seeing under your device manager. then follow this step and this should fix it.

I have a new IdeaCentre K450 - 57314032 - Black. It has a hot-swappable drive bay in front but the users manual does not give any specifications on what kind of drive to use. Is it a 3.5" x 1/3 height form factor? All the accessories in the Lenovo store seem to be for the Think-series--would any of them work?

Answer:IdeaCentre K450 Hot-swappable drive specs

Hi,

I?m sorry to hear that the specifications are not available online, but below is the link for K450 Datasheet for the information about the Hot-swappable drive and a link to the post customers have tried different type of HDD and succeeded in hot swapping with the computer.

Answer:ideacentre AIO 700-27ISH adding second hard drive

Hi jimenglish,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

As per Platform Specifications for storage:

Some: SATA 6.0Gb/s, 3.5" wide, 7200 rpm Some: SATA 6.0Gb/s, 3.5" wide, 7200 rpm, Solid State Hybrid drive (SSHD) with 8GB MLC NAND ? ash memorySome: Solid State Drive (SSD) / SATA 6.0Gb/s, 2.5" WideOptional SATA ODD with DVD burner, 9.5mm slim tray-in

You may not have an additional port slot as you described already having 2 storage drive:
SAMSUNG MZ7LF192HCGS-000L1 192GB Solid state drive 0
Seagate ST2000DM001-1ER164 2TB hard drive

An external USB hard drive storage would be a better option than thinking of replacing the optical drive with a caddy of that would fit the machine. A faster and practical solution that you can use with multiple computers too.

Hope this help answer your query.

I recently purchase a Sony DRU-510A DVD read/writer (multi-format), to replace the DVD reader in my machine previously, so all settings, including jumper remained the same.Running the drive on an AMD XP1800+ processor, XP Home, 512Mb RAM.My PC recognises the drive and can even open up text and html files on the software DVD which came with the drive but I have two problems.Playing DVDs, using Power DVD version 5, gives picture distortion (picture stops for a few seconds and squares of distorted picture), and the exe install file on the DVD won't run.I am concluding that there's nothing wrong with the physical install, as the drive can be seen and files even opened from a DVD, but some setting somewhere is not quite right.I've trawled all the Sony web-sites for help and, as a last resort mailed their technical support, but any ideas what might be causing picture distortion ??

Answer:Picture distortion on Sony DRU-510A DVD read/write

I would try uninstalling your Powerdvd software, reboot, then uninstall the dvd drive from device manager (or whatever it is in xp), reboot. When your comp restarts it will find the *new* hardware and reinstall the drivers for it, reboot. Now install Powerdvd again and hopefully it will work fine.

Looking at installing a Samsung 850 pro ssd 500Gb as the main OS drive.  It looks as though I'm limited on space in the back! I'm thinking the 2Tb drive can go into an external caddy for data downloads. If I get a second 2.5" HDD (non SSD) as a data drive; firstly is there room for two 2.5" drives and second are there enough sata headers on the motherboard to plug two drives in? Thanks in advance to anyone with insight here

Hello! My all in one computer's hard drive failed. I have Windows 7 Home Premium. Here is what happens when I turn the computer on: SMART failure predicted on hard disk 0: ST31000528AS - (PM)WARNING: Immediately back-up your data and replace your hard disk drive. A failure may be imminent.Press F1 to continue.  Then when I press F1, the Windows loading screen comes up, and then just a black screen with the mouse cursor. I took apart the computer and pulled out the hard drive. I plugged it into my docking station and plugged it into my laptop. It reads the hard drive and I can go into the program files and suck, but not into the users, where I believe all my documents would be. When I try to open my user folder, it says I don't have permission and to click ok if I want permission. I click ok and it acts like it's loading but never opens. It also says my user folder has 0 bytes I just tried going into Safe Mode, and WIndows loads, but it freezes whenever I try to open a folder. Is there any way to be able to access my files?

Internal Sata 500GB Seagate gave in recently and I have purchased a 1TB sata drive to replace it with.    So, following the Lenovo Lenovo Hardware guide (Lenovo IdeaCentre A600 Hardware Replacement Guide V1.0.pdf) , i added the new drive, but system will not pass beyond: Broadcom UNDI PXE-2.1 v11.4.1PXE-E61:  Media test failure, check cablePXE-M0F: Exiting Broadcome PXE ROM I continue to get that When I put the defective drive back, it doesn't show the above error msg, goes post BIOS ... show up to the point where it reports that the Hard Disk is bad.  (The minute I switch to the new drive, I get the above message and no more progress) I have gone to BIOS and drive shows the accurate size and no error at all post bios (No, F1 to continue) yet i can't even boot from a bootable CD when startup is done against the DVD drive. Any idea?

Answer:Lenovo IdeaCentre A600 Hard Drive Replacement Trouble

hi ichoudhury,

Welcome to the Forums.

Can you try to:
1. Insert the 1TB HDD and the bootable OS disc into the CD/DVD drive
2. Boot into the BIOS and under the Startup Tab, navigate to the Startup Sequence and set the CD/DVD drive as the first boot device and the 1TB HDD as second.
3. Press F10 to save and exit BIOS and see if the unit boots from the OS installation disc. If everything works, proceed to install the OS on the 1TB HDD.
4. If everything works out, boot back into the BIOS > Startup Tab > Startup Sequence and set the 1TB HDD as the first boot device.

Let me know your findings,

I am interested in the IdeaCentre A520 all-in-one, it looks like a great combination of desktop and tablet.  Since it can easily tilt down to near flat, I have to wonder if it or other similar touchscreen all-in-ones would be a good computer for computer art.  I am not a professional artist or graphic designer, but I like drawing on my little HTC tablet (which comes with a special stylus), I just wish it was bigger.  Since the IdeaCentre has a capacitive screen, it seems like it would work, but I am having a hard time figuring out if it supports pressure sensitivity or not.  Or if it does, would a special stylus be required?

Answer:IdeaCentre for art?

I'd go to a store and try it.  I've kind of toyed with it and am not to impressed but then I'm a hack at best.  Not aquainted with the model you asked about.  I got a B320 and upgraded to win 8 and found the drivers are not compatible and none have come forth from lenovo so mine only has most basic function which may add to my hackiness :-)

Answer:Ideacentre A7 No 5G?

hi johndib413,

Welcome to the Forums.

Do you mean the Ideacentre A720?
  - if this is the model that you have, this pdf data sheet says the unit is powered by a Realtek® RTL8188CUS which is a 802.11n card for 2.4GHz band only. You can try to upgrade the Wi-FI card if you have a spare one but take note that some of the motherboard's BIOS have a whitelist that restricts non-lenovo approve cards to be used. (this will indicate an error message during POST).

Question: Ideacentre K410

Hi, today we purchased a brand new Ideacentre K410. We set it up no problems and booted it up to explore windows 8. The problem is that the machine is shockingly noisy - it sounds similar to the old, clapped out Dell it replaced.  A constant loud noise is emitted which I am sure is coming from the HD. The drive light is flickering on/off constantly too - it has done that since it was switched on, even when the PC is left idle.  I think the noise is the HD spinning? I know some PCs can be a bit noisy, but this is unacceptably so - it would certainly impact on enjoyment of a PC game etc, interfering with the sound track etc. Has anyone else experienced this?  Is it really just this noisy, or might I have a bad un? Thanks if you can help or advise.GAW

Answer:Ideacentre K410

Updated - its actually the graphics card which is the noisy part. Happened to notice if you move the monitor plug at the back of the unit around, the noise goes away or drops hugely.  But when you let the plug go again, it moves back and the noise returns. I wonder if the card is not installed properly and is vibrating on something or the fan on it (assume there is one) is the problem? Guess I need to visit the service centre, a great start to my relationship with Lenovo, great.

Question: IdeaCentre B540P

This morning I turned on as usual and got the message that it couldn't connect to windows as the file/disc had been removed - now I am not a techie so went on my notebook to find somewhere like this to help and thought I had better get the proper message in full as I know it helps you clever people, but when I turned it on everything went fine.  So now I am still at a loss as to why this happened.  I know my notebook is connected (in someway) to the IdeaCentre and didn't know if that had anything to do with it, although the Windows 8.1 was bought separately.  Any ideas in case this happens again as obviously I wouldn't know what do do about finding the exec file (DOH) and getting it working again.  I do have it all copied into cloud storage but that wouldn't help me either not being able to use the PC.  Thanks for any easy explanation anyone can give and an even easier solution please.

I have an IdeaCentre and in the past couple of days, it has totally stopped playing any sort of sound. The speaker pop-up shows that when a YouTube video is played, the sound is registering on the meter, but no sound. I'm not knowledgeable at all about this stuff, so I have no idea what this could be. My 14-month-old son did get up and bang on the keyboard for a few minutes, but I don't know if the loss of sound coincides with this. I have tried checking drivers and all are up-to-date, and yes, the sound is turned up on the buttons on the all-in-one itself. I have tried external speakers -- no luck. Help, please!

Answer:No sound at all from IdeaCentre

You may already know this, but just in case - the B520 has two separate volume controls. There is the windows volume slider which can be controlled via windows or via the Lenovo keyboard, then there are the volume controls on the touch screen. The volume controls on the touch screen seem to lay on top of the other volume controls. What I am saying is that if you are not obtaining satisfactory volume from the PC with the windows volume controls at max, try adjusting the touch screen volume control. You will notice that a different volume scale comes up when you use these and hopefully once adjusted your problem will be corrected. Also, verify that the mute is not on.

The new Nvidia GTX 1080/1070s look very appealing and I'm eagerly awaiting the AMD Polaris GPUs. Unfortunately both Nvidia GPU's recommend a PSU of 500W+ and after looking into upgrading the PSU, I can see there are many issues as the Ideacentre doesn't use the typical 24-Pin power cable to the motherboard. Instead it uses a proprietary 10-Pin power cable to it. Without performing the hackery mentioned in this thread, would Lenovo or anywhere else be able to supply me with a more powerful PSU with a 10-pin motherboard power cable?

Question: Ideacentre B320

Hi, could someone please advise or recommend a suitable pen/stylus for the B320. It does have the multi touch screen. cheers

Answer:Ideacentre B320

It is what is called a capacitive type touchscreen or at least capacitive stylus work well on it and the normal stylus do not.Just go to Amazon.com and search for capacitive stylus and numerous units will come up. I have one and have tried it on two different touchscreens and usually fall back to using my finger.

Answer:Ideacentre AIO 700 - Ram upgrade

hi andyrossitter,

Welcome to the Forums.

Do you have the AIO 700-24ISH (Intel Skylake CPU)? If yes then the max memory should be 16GB as advertised below:

http://shop.lenovo.com/lt/lt/desktops/ideacentre/aio-700/

Though technically, the memory controller (which is built-in to the CPU) can support 32GB of DDR4 but I recommend you stick with 16GB as this is the tested max memory specification for the unit. It's also better to get a 16GB dual channel kit (2x8GB) for best dual channel compatibility (although another 8GB should work as long as it's identical to the currently installed 8GB).

Just bought a new IDEACENTRE 700 - 90ED0009US from Best Buy and I would like to upgrade the anemic 250 watt power supply but noticed I have a 10+4(cpu) pin connection to the motherboard. I have found 24 to 14 pin but nothing of this sort on the boards. Anyone have any idea on adaptors or the pinout of the 10 pin so that I can make my own?

Answer:IdeaCentre 700 - 10 Pin Atx Connector?

hi jegillis,

Welcome to the Forums.

I don't have the pinouts on the 10pin connector that's used on the IdeaCentre 700 motherboard but I looked around the net and you're right, there's no one selling a lenovo 24pin to 10pin ATX adapter cable yet, however, I have high hopes that this cable should work:

PSU Main Power 24-Pin to 18+10-Pin Adapter Cable (30cm)

I would recommend you contact the seller though to ensure compatibility.

Let me know if this works for you.

The up coming ideacentre computers look really good, but i wonder will they have enough speed for gaming.i think lenovo should make models that include something like geforce 8800gt so we could play modern games with them, what do you think?

Answer:ideacentre for gaming?

The graphics card that comes in the Y710, i.e. ATI Radeon HD2600 is DirectX 10.0 compatible and a High Definition card.  It should run most of the current games just fine.  As well, the processor for this model is a Dual Core 2.5, which is plenty fast for most modern games too.

I recently purchased an IdeaCentre A600.  I made the purchase because Lenovo was touting the IdeaCentre as a computer and a TV.  But apparently I had a different definition of ?TV.?  The biggest disappointment was the total lack of documentation and support for this product.  There is virtually none of either.I am new to Microsoft Vista, but after a couple of weeks of exploration I found the Microsoft Media Center.  I followed the TV set-up Wizard and actually got a TV signal.  But the picture was about 2 by 3 inches.  When I clicked ?Next,? I expected to see a full size image.  But all I got was as error message indicating that there was no ?IR hardware? installed.  I had no idea what IR hardware was, but I knew right away it must be important. I called the vendor?s support first.  They explained that ?IR? stood for infrared and that all I needed to do was install the most recent drivers.  It was no surprise that that did not work.I contacted Lenovo support and after a lengthy discussion, the support person told me that I apparently needed IR cables, which is exactly where I started.  She didn?t know what they were, or what they were for, but I should contact my cable provider and they should be able to help me.  I contacted Comcast support and the support person told me that I could get IR cables anywhere, even Wal-Mart.  She didn?t know what they were, or how they worked, but I...
