Realtek HD Audio Manager has stopped. I discovered that it is no longer installed. Where can I find the install or setup Realtek HD Audio application?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a similar problem. I am working on an HP dv9000 and I recently installed a new Motherboard. I know the speakers work, because I have a diagnostic tool that tests them and they tested good. Sound came out and everything. However, I cannot seem to get the sound to work when I boot up. I have tried everything and I mean everything. I have reseated the connections to the speakers and the head phone jack. I have uninstalled all of the audio and modem drivers and re-installed them numerous times. I have uninstalled and booted to Safe Mode and tried to install again. I have tried choosing the location of the audio drivers, so that I knew that I was getting what I wanted.

The only other option that I can think of, is doing a Fresh Install of the OS.

If that does not work, then there must be something wrong with the new MB.

Any ideas?

Answer:Realtek High Definition Audio Driver problems (HP dv9000 - Model DV9644CA Laptop)

It seems as if you've done just about everything possible to get the audio working, but you didn't tell us which version of Windows you're using, so offering any advice is kind of impossible. However, a fresh OS install is probably a good idea. If you have a lot of data on the hard drive, hopefully you have a 2nd drive to swap out (or maybe a friend has one). That way you can try the clean install on a different drive just to see if the audio will work, and you won't need to worry about losing data or spending lots of time backing up to CD/DVD or external/flash drives. Unfortunately, the HP dv series of laptops are cursed with a plethora of hardware problems, serious hardware problems including failing video chips, wifi malfunctions, and (as you discovered) audio problems. So, good luck. I wish you nothing but the best!
* fingers crossed *

Hi all, i've searching everywhere through net for solution to my problems.. found a lot but didn't works for me, also i did post on hp forums, but most answer that i got just didn't help..

Here's what i was facing right now.. recently i bought DV9644CA Hp Pavillion Notebook.
my sound won't work with the latest driver i downloaded from hp (under DV9644CA category for Vista).. the QuickPlay button works fine, it shows orange when i press mute, and blue if i press it again.. but the sound doesn't come out. it will only come out, if i uninstalled the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver and let vista (Vista Home Premium) installed it for me(Microsoft High Def Audio). then i heard a sound(which is good rather than hear nothing).. but then QuickPlay button doesn't turn orange when i mute. I really hope that i can make them both work.

and another thing is, my earphone jack didn't work(plug the earphone, but hear nothing, sound still come out from speakers). is this has something to do with the drivers.

i really hope i can solve all this without have to send my laptop back to HP.
Thanks in advanced.

Answer:Realtek High Definition Audio Driver problems (HP dv9000 - Model DV9644CA Laptop)

When you have the new driver installed, are both of these in your startup? HP QuickPlay, and HP Quick launch. You can find out by looking in msconfig. (Start>Run, type in msconfig and press Enter)

For your headphone problem, check in the Realtek HD Audio Manager (Control Panel, if the icon isn't on your Taskbar) Click Speakers>Device Advanced settings. Make sure the Playback Device is set to mute the back speakers, when the headphone is plugged in.

It's been a year since I migrated from Windows XP to Windows 7 which I downloaded Realtek HD Audio Manager R2.70 and audio has been working fine except the only issue it didn't come with 'Stereo Mix' preventing capability to record sound direct from the soundcard. It took me 14 months to restore Stereo Mix as each time I was told to update audio drivers I would update HD Audio Manager so what is the difference between these two Realtek ?

I installed Realtek HD Audio Driver R2.72 last night and it restored Stereo Mix which now enables me to record system sound whilst using screen recorders.

Thanks

Realtek HD Audio Manager is a software driver used on Windows computers. It handles recording and playback of audio programs. It is required for many audio programs to operate.

While Realtek HD Audio Drivers is a tool that allows you to listen to audio in HD on your PC.

Stereo Mix is used to transfer audio that the PC is playing to recording software such as Audacity, so that you can record what you?re hearing.

When one upgrade their OS like in your case from XP to Win7 with the same motherboard and sound card it is always advised & recommended to download the latest soundcard driver, because the only thing that had changed was the operating system.

The advice is not to go to windows for it, but to go to the motherboard manufacturer, because it would be specialised for the system rather than ... Read more

I never thought I would be typing out a post to solve a issue but here I am.

So I recently restored my computer due to a Windows error that kept missing up my session (I wouldn't be able to load files / upload files [it was missing with my school work] and when I right clicked anywhere or anything I only saw a line with some arrows & when I would open up a File Explore all the text in the address bar would be shoved in the left side of the address bar)

So note I'm on a clean slate, newest Windows 10 update (version 1703) and I've gone to my computer support page and downloaded everything that needed to be updated (BIOS, Audio, LAN, Utilities, Wireless, USB, and Chipset [I haven't downloaded the VGA]) LINK

My problem is with Realtek HD Audio drivers. I've installed / uninstalled the ones from their site (64bits Vista, Windows7, Windows8, Windows8.1, Windows10 Driver only (Executable file)) to uninstalling / installing the ones provided on the support page on ASUS site. When I have installed one of the drivers (doesn't matter to which one because it's happening to anyone I try) the Realtek HD Audio Manager isn't showing up in Control Panel. It's when I uninstall the drivers (I remove with iobit uninstaller) that it shows in Control Panel but it will not open. I don't care for it, but I know that it's a problem because my audio is not the same (their not as loud, bass isn't as load) I don't have a crazy system but I know what my speakers should sound like and this isn't t... Help. I recently did a clean install of Windows 7 64bit (on my HP Vista 32 machine). Life is grand! My problems started when I tried to listen to the microphone input through my speakers. The front microphone inputs did not work so I downlaed the Realtek HD Audio Drivers (recently updated) from the realtek site. The inputs now work and I can record from the microphone through the Sound Recorder app in Accessories but can not hear the microphone through the speakers while I am recording. After searching the web I noticed a lot of chatter about setting things up in the Realtek HD Audio Manager. This app does not show up in my control panel. Does anyone know where I can get it (if I really need it). The Realtek site only has the driver download (not the manager). Am I missing something, am I confused, or both?

I installed the Realtek HD audio driver from the ASUS download site (P8Z68-V Pro MB) and all was well until I installed an MSI 560TI video card and let it install the Nvidia HD Audio drivers. The problem I have been chasing ever since was the Realtek HD Audio Manager popping up after the system exited extended sleep state (overnight). After much trial and tribulation and several Google Searches I concluded that the Realtek/ASUS HD Audio driver was conflicting with the Nvidia driver(s).

I did what suggested on one of the sites and that was to delete the Realtek HD Audio drivers and just let W7 install the default Microsoft drivers. Problem gone! Now I am curious, what did I give up and if I install the latest Realtek driver for W7 64-bit (v267) from the Realtek site will the Nvidia conflict return?

Answer:ASUS/Realtek, Latest Realtek versus default W7 Audio driver

Generally the Microsoft installed HD Audio Codec does not have all the features the motherboard vendor's sound drivers do. In most cases the actual driver is preferred and should be installed instead of the generic HD Audio Code drivers.

The NVIDIA driver is for the Video and the build in audio for HDMI audio. It should not be interferring with the PC's sound and in this case Realtek. I would uninstall the Microsoft drivers and reinstall the RealTek and see if you still have the problem. Generally a driver causes problems when exiting from sleep mode. Actually on "extended" sleep mode of overnight its really better to just shut down the system and then reboot in the morning. If you want it to be operational when you wake up, the BIOS should have an option for auto power on at whatever time you set.

Hello all, I just got Windows 8.1 Pro as a gift from a friend and installed it just a few hours ago, and I noticed that I am having audio problems.

Basically put, it's sort of random when this happens, but it seems to happen when sounds play rapidly, as letting a audio que play it's part will play with no popping nosies, here is an example of me showing this by using the sound that plays when you change audio:
Vocaroo | Voice message

The first 10 seconds are me playing the sound slow, with no popping. Then the sound starts popping when I change volume rapidly.

I also checked DPC Latency Checker and everything is running smoothly:
imgur: the simple image sharer

I have all the latest drivers installed, and this happens with with no drivers. I just can't seem to figure out what the issue is here.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I've tried disabling drivers, removing the USB Keyboard and Mouse, as well as setting the audio to CD Quality.

Thanks in Advance to the person who could help me with this.

What type of speaker system are you using ? Monitor with HDMI, check video card settings ? Could be conflicting driver, possibly Video card. Also mattering to speakers used, check for loose connections, something could be disturbing speakers.

Lots of reasons for popping and stuttering. Integrated card or PCI Slot Card?

Hello I am not great with computers especially deep things so please explain slowly.

I have a toshiba satelite A500 computer with realtek audio drivers installed
the sound is working fine three years later after I got the computer
my computer had a problem with the fan so my computer keeps overheating
changed the fan but after shutting down and turning it on the sound has a red X next to it troubleshooter is useless because it could not find the problem

(what is displayed in device manager.)

Realtek High Definition Audio with an exclamation point it keeps saying this device cannot be started. code 10.
how do you fix this thing without restoring?

things I tried
-Going to realtek website to download drivers it works but then it would be X again when I do a reboot then it does the code 10 thing
-Installing the drivers in safe mode does the code 10 thing too
-Restoring to an earlier time before the fan problem started
still no sound

so I guess the fan product is to blame...
If you know a thread with this problem but has been fixed please tell me
the link

Answer:Realtek high definition audio driver no audio output device is installed

Hi

Could you let us know the exact Toshiba A500 you have as there are various models that have various hardware and software drivers?

eg. A500-17X

as its likely that you may need to re-install the Chipset driver and reboot then the audio driver and from Toshiba's website driver support area only, not a unified driver from realtek as at times OEMs like Toshiba will custom spec hardware and drivers from realtek and while it may state in your device manager or specs that a realtek hardware is for audio, it will not be a consumer one.

The fan you changed was which one? (CPU or case)
What Windows version and Service Pack are you using and are they fully upto date?

Hi,
Recently, I started getting problems with my audio on my alienware X51 R2 (I'm on windows 10). After a long time of searching for solutions all over the internet like on forums, I've come to the point where the only possible solution to my problem is using the realtek hd audio manager. The problem is: I can't access it on my alienware device since it is completely replaced by your poor version of it "Alienware Audio" wich does not have any of the options I need. How could I restore the original version of this software or at least disable the alienware audio version?

Hello,

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and I have a problem with sound. When I plug my speakers in front panel I have output audio, but in back panel I don't.

My Audio Manager looks like this, but front panel is enabled and back panel is disabled. It does not recognize back (ANALOG) jack.

I tried with settings in this manager but without success, I cheked Control Panel > Sound and followed instructions but still no sound if speakers is in back panel. What to do?

Hello Everyone.

I have a Jabra bluetooth speaker (the Solemate Mini). On Windows 8.1 I plug it in to my laptop using the 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable and then, when I watch a movie, it correctly outputs to the speaker and does not use my laptop speakers.

However, in Windows 10, no matter how many times I plug it in using the 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable I cannot get Windows to output sound to the speaker UNLESS I also connect a USB cable from the speakers USB port to my laptop, then it works.

If I disconnect the USB cable I lose sound through the speaker and it uses my laptop speakers instead.

How can I solve this please?

Many thanks.

Hello All!!

I have seen similar threads here but my problem is slightly different.
I have ASUS P4S8X-MX which have built in audio of Realtek AC'97 .
I am using Windows XP SP2 for quite a time and everything was fine unless i tried to install an updated driver for my sound. After updating, i got Code 10 error , device cannot start.
I uninstalled the drivers, Restart my PC and then installed my previous version of drivers.
Everything was fine and i can see volume icon in task bar. But when i tried playing an audio file there wasn't any sound. I clicked volume icon to raise it but it was disabled.
I double click it to open Mixer .. there are only 3 options (normally it use to have lot ..wave,speaker,etc..) Now it has only Wave , SW Synth, CD Player.. and No recording device.

I did try re-installing the drivers again and again but no LUCK..

I tried using Drivers Sweeper to remove the tracks .. doing that in Safe Mode and then again Installed Old drivers. It all go well but in the end its same situation with sound disabled.

I don't want to reinstall my Windows , is there any way to fix it ?

One thing i noticed is every time I install drivers the sound manager shows up at task bar but in moments it disappears while the soundman.exe is running in Processes and I can't find it in Control Panel as well (where it use to be) .

Its been 8 hours since I am struggling with that. But No LUCK!

Answer:Realtek AC'97 audio - drivers installed properly & services running but no audio

Hi muazzam

Is best to upgrade to SP3 (if only because MS has dropped support for SP2) but can start, for now, looking at your problem while you continue running with SP2

Let's start with these initial steps
1) List any Problem Devices

Make sure all your devices are connected and powered on
Click Start->Run, enter: msinfo32. Click the + sign next to Components to expand it
Click Problem Devices. Anything appear?
If yes, click on it, Ctrl-A to select all, Ctrl-C to copy it, Ctrl-V to paste into next post
2) Generate and attach a DirectX report

click Start->Run, enter dxdiag
Notice progress in lower left window corner
When done, click Save Information button and save to your Desktop
In TechSpot, use the paper clip icon to attach the report. (If you don't see icon you may need to first click Go Advanced)
3) If there were no Problem Devices (step 1 above) then also check on your Windows Audio service if Status=Started and StartupType=Automatic

I'll have a look and we can take it from there

Hi, if anyone can help out with this it would be greatly appreciated, so thanks in advance. Anyway I'm using an Asus Eee PC netbook with a realtek HD audio interface, and a built in realtek speaker and mic. Audio has been fine up until now (And I use various music software) until suddenly I can get no sound out of the realtek driver at all. Windows says that the speakers are running, and all the services are fine, but when I go to playback devices and click 'test' on the speakers, I get an error saying 'this device is being used by another application. Please close any devices that are playing audio to this device and try again' This is wrong, there are no visible applications open and nothing should be taking exclusive use anyway, becaues exclusive mode is turned off. I assume this is some form of memory leak, but nothing can seem to fix it. Not only that, but any external audio device I plug in (like headphones) aren't recognised in the playback devices window. The only way for me to get sound out of the PC is when I run the ASIO4ALL V2 interface through music software, which recognises all my devices. ASIO doesn't work with windows, so I need the realtek to work in order to use the Netbook!
If anyone knows this issue, please help!!!

I've got an Ideapad U510, Windows 8 64-bit system.A couple of days ago I got a message, which stated that the dolby audio driver didn't work, and I needed to reinstall the driver or restart. I did both and neither worked.I searched for drivers on Lenovos website, and updated the driver for Realtek audio. Now the logo for sound just have a red X on it and I don't know what to do. I uninstalled the drivers, installed them again and it didn't work so I uninstalled it again. The dolby digital driver won't install again, it says it needs PCEE to install but I have no idea what to do.Please help me. I don't know what caused the problem, so I have no idea how to get my audio working again.

Answer:Dolby audio and Realtek audio drivers suddenly won't work on windows 8.

hi Bubble,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Can you try the following:
1. Press the Windows key? +R, type appwiz.cpl and press Enter. On the list of programs, remove any instances of Dolby or Realtek Audio and reboot.

2. After the reboot, press the Windows key? +R, type devmgmt.msc and press Enter. On the Device Manager, expand Sound, video, and game controllers and check if the sound device is listed as High Definition Audio. If it says Realtek High Definition Audio, uninstall it, put a check on 'delete device driver software' and reboot. This step will install a generic sound driver that should enable you to play sound on the unit.

If the above steps doesn't work and you still see the red X mark on the sound adapter then you may need to backup important data and do one of the following:

a. System Restore
b. System Recovery via the OneKey Recovery Button
c. Refresh or Reset Windows 8

I have a self-assembled desktop PC - full specs in the signature below, but in short, it has an AMD Phenom II X6 1090T processor on a Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P mainboard, which uses a Realtek Azalia ALC887 on-board sound system. I have no loudspeakers and listen to the computer sound exclusively through a Microsoft LX-1000 headset. I also have a Logitech C270 HD webcam that has its own microphone. My PC has 16 GB RAM, a SSD and a large HDD. It runs Windows 8.1 Update 1 with all Windows updates (Patch Tuesday was this week, but my problems had started before that and I'm sure they're unrelated).

Everything is working fine, except the audio, which started behaving strangely a few days ago. The problems started suddenly and I can't think of anything that could have caused them. There were no hardware changes or any intervention in the hardware, nor did I install any new software that could have messed up things.

When playing music, it sounds muffled, with the volume very low and the voice and several instruments muted, while other instruments in the background arrangement sound louder. No graphic equalizer is on, and this happens with any player software (Windows Media Player, VLC, Media Player Classic, etc.), and any source (MP3 music, audio CDs, DVDs, videos, etc.). There appears to be no hardware problem with either my headset or the onboard audio: when I run both Windows' native and Realtek's driver sound output tests, the test tune comes out loud and clear in the tested chann... Answer:Realtek audio, Gigabyte mobo: strange-sounding audio, mic not working

First thing to do is disable or disconnect the Web Cam. They have been known to cause various sound problems. It may not be the problem, but eliminate it as the problem.

Stereo Mix needs to be set as the Default Recording Device.

Refresh the RealTek by going to the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the RealTek entry in the Sound section then LEFT click "Uninstall". DO NOT uninstall the drivers. Restart the PC and when Windows starts it will reinstall the sound. This usually fixes any Windows/Sound corruptions. If this does not fix it, download and reinstall the RealTek sound drivers.

I'm having a strange problem in my HTPC. Audio is coming perfectly fine out from the S/PDIF coaxial output, and it's normally connected only that way to the receiver, but now for other reasons I also need to connect it using a 3.5 mm to a small mixer. So in the sound manager I changed the output to the "Speakers", and in fact the Realtek sound manager detects that a cable is plugged into that output and shows me the dialog where it's selected. Problem is, nothing comes out.

I know it's not the 3.5mm to RCA cable because I plugged in my phone, played some music and I can hear it just fine. But the rear speaker (green) output puts out no sound at all, as I also tested it plugging headphones. On the Sound Windows panel where you can select the playback device I can see the volume level move up and down when I'm playing any media file, as well as in the Volume Mixer. If I switch back to the S/PDIF output and change the input in my receiver, audio is coming just fine.

I haven't tried the front outputs because they are not connected. The motherboard has HD Audio but the case has AC97 connectors, so I never cared to connect them because I don't use them. I know the rear green output worked at some point because I remember having a pair of computer speakers connected to it a few years ago.

Answer:Realtek ALC889 audio, audio fine on S/PDIF, nothing from rear output

I found out after a while. In the popup dialog when a cable is plugged in, I had selected "Rear speaker out" mistakenly thinking it was talking about the rear output, not the rear speakers in a 5.1 speaker setting. Changing to "Front speaker out" solved the problem.

Hi,

I finally upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 and almost went back shortly after finding out I could no longer organize or manually arrange my own personal files and/or folders but luckily I discovered an application called 'Folder Options X' which has re-enabled that feature for me so I'm happy to be upgrading .

I'm having a few issue's with my audio playback options. I'm using an audio application called SRS Audio Sandbox Version 1.10.2.0 which doe's work with Windows 7 because when I first installed it was working perfect for a good few weeks time but recently I downloaded Realtek HD Audio Manager 2.57 to enable me to playback audio through my monitor speakers but it seems to have changed my audio setup ?

I have a 5.1 Logitech z906 speakers which take up green, black & yellow ports and my monitor has a green audio jack which I plugged in green and my Logitech's green jack I've plugged into Blue and used Realtek HD Manager to change Blue port to a Line Out option.

It appears to work accept when I do Speaker Playback Test clicking on diagram only left & right speakers playback noise though when I do it with headphones on all speakers playback noise: Left, Right, Center, Sub Rear Left & Rear Right not sure if that's normal ?

Under Sound proprieties my Realtek HD Audio is set as the default playback device in which both my speaker & monitor playback music but I need it to playback through SRS Audio Sandbox so I can manage and adjust the sound but whe... Read more

Hello, I just updated the Realtek Audio Driver this morning when I saw the update available in the Update center.  The driver went from v 6.0.1.6914 to v 6.0.1.7040.  Now, the Dolby Advanced Audio v2 won't work.  It forgot my previous EQ settings and when I make a new one, it doesn't change a thing in the sound.  Is there a way to roll back to the previous version?  Anyone knows a fix for this? This is really bad as I'm listening to lots of music on this laptop while I'm working and without the Dolby EQ, the sounds is not very good... I'm under Windows 8.1 64-bit. Thanks.

Answer:X230T Dolby Advanced Audio v2 not working anymore since Realtek Audio Driver update

OK, so I succeeded to revert back to the previous version of the Realtek audio driver and the Dolby thing came back just fine after a reboot. So, if you're with Windows 8.1 and enjoy the Dolby feature, don't update your Realtek audio driver!

Hey Guys,

So here it goes, I normally have my Logitech z-5500 speakers connected to the onboard sound output (green, yellow and black) as well as my Plantronics 780 connected to the front panel USB port. I used to be able to play music through any one without any problems, just had to select which one I wanted as my default playback device.

Now my problem is, I get audio fine through the 780, but I get no sound what so ever from any of the onboard ports. I have searched online for hours trying all the suggested solutions(check below) but I'm hoping its not a device failure =(

What's weird is that just like all other posts I've read, when I plug anything into the onboard jacks I get the speakers as connected and the audio level moves with sound..but I get no output from my speakers.
What I have tested:

1) removing and reinstalling audio drivers from Asus website. - no luck
2) trying a headphone in the different jacks to see if any would give audio - no luck
3) went into the BIOS made sure I was up to date and the sound device was enabled - no luck
I can post screenshots of anything that may help in trying to resolve this problem and would appreciate anyone assisting me.
Thank you.

Ravir mate do yourself a favour and install a sound card I have the exact same board and I fitted an Asus Xonar DG after spending a load of time trying to make sense of the Asus site, RealTek site and the Windows feature which are all a crock of crap.
The GUI for the Xonar card is great for sound (up to 7:1 support) and effects and mixing. Best of all it is cheap. I have them in three of my machines and would not be bothered with the onboard rubbish. Sound Cards and Digital-to-Analog Converters - Xonar DG - ASUS

I think my question is this: how do I set up VSX-1124 (a Pioneer AVR) in Control Panel/Sound and Hardware/Sound so that its driver is Realtek HD Audio and not the Intel Display Audio one?

In Device Manager under Sound, Video and game controllers, I have two sound card drivers, Realtek High Definition and Intel Display Audio. I don't understand how Realtek High Definition Audio drivers work in relation to the Intel Display Audio drivers. If I go to Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Sound then Playback, there are four options, as you can see from the picture below.

I'm guessing that if I choose the receiver as my default device that I'm using the Intel Display Audio drivers and any of the other three options that I'm using the Realtek drivers. Is this correct? If the receiver is the default device, everything works fine; I get sound from sites like cnn.com and I can listen to internet radio, etc. However, if Speakers are the default device, I don't get sound. Is this normal? If so, what's the reason for having Realtek? If it isn't normal, will I notice a difference if I use the Realtek drivers? If I would see/hear a difference, how do I get them to work?

Answer:Realtek High Definition Audio and Intel Display Audio

The RealTek is for the regular PC sound. The Intel Display Audio is for HDMI sound. If an HDMI cable is plugged in Windows will automatically default to the HDMI as the "default playback device". If you have an HDMI cable plugged in and want the PC sound you must manually change the playback device. If you want both HDMI and PC audio, you can't have that as Windows will only allow one default audio playback device.

Does this answer the question?

Hope you can help me here

I have installed Windows 10 today. So far so good, except for the sound volume being REALLY low. It appears that it is a problem with Realtek HD audio driver, so I manually downloaded it, but still the sound is very low. The audio manager, which is the mixer and volume control hub, appears in the startup programs on the task manager, but it isn't available on the desktop bottom corner, as if it's installed but cannot be used...

Thing is, on Windows 7 everything worked without any problem at all. It is really annoying that after whole this time Windows 10 still has this kind of problems...

Any solution?

TIA

I have a self-assembled desktop PC - full specs in the signature below, but in short, it has an AMD Phenom II X6 1090T processor on a Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P mainboard, which uses a Realtek Azalia ALC887 on-board sound system. I have no loudspeakers and listen to the computer sounds exclusively through a Microsoft LX-1000 headset.

Everything is working fine, except the audio, which started behaving strangely a few days ago for no apparent reason. The problems started suddenly and I can't think of anything that could have caused them. There were no hardware changes or any intervention in the hardware, nor did I install any new software that could have messed up things.

When playing music, it sounds muffled, with the volume very low and the voice and several instruments muted, while other instruments in the background arrangement sound relatively louder. No graphic equalizer is on, and this happens with any player software (Windows Media Player, VLC, Media Player Classic, etc.), and any source (MP3 music, audio CDs, DVDs, videos, etc.). There appears to be no hardware problem with either my headset or the onboard audio: when I run both Windows' native and Realtek's driver sound output tests, the test tune comes out... Read more

This is a problem that just started after having my drive wiped and OS re-installed.

Sound plays quite loudly when played through virtually anything; media players, Youtube, Firefox and Internet Explorer, anything. Yet the sounds from certain video games are extremely low in volume, which has never happened to me before.

Also worth noting: At seemingly random intervals, certain sounds in the games would play at full volume.

Attaching my DxDiag

One thing I noticed is that in the Playback devices, the stereo mix always picks up sounds louder than the speakers play out, unsure if this is related at all.

Also not sure if it's related or relevant, but my original system had the hard drives set on IDE, but now they're both set on AHCI

EDIT: I think I've solved it. It was just a matter of turning on Loudness Equalization. Leaving it open because I wanna know if this is indeed the issue or just a quickfix.

Answer:RealTek audio loud, in-game audio sharply muted

I doubt that the loudness is the correct "fix" since the sound is OK except in games. Many games have an option for the sound level and can be adjusted in the game setup. Others use MIDI to generate the sounds.

kept same hard drive, which is why I think I am having problems with my new mobo and no audio, I think the driver for the old audio is deeply rooted in the HDD somewhere and it won't let me install any new audio drivers. The old system I had was a Gateway, with a P4 3.0 HT, hope this helps anyone.

Answer:No Audio, Install realtek hd audio driver failure

OK, by everything you mean you have tried all this:
Checked Master Volume control.
Checked Windows Audio Service is started.
Checked Device Manager for bad drivers.
Checked your audio mixer software (if installed) for a setting that mutes back panel audio if you have plugged headphones into a front panel audio jack.
.....Uncheck this setting to allow audio to both the back and front.
Checked BIOS to insure on-board sound is enabled.
Installed the correct Chipset and Audio drivers.
None of that worked?

Have you tried this?
The Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) High Definition Audio driver for Windows may be corrupted or causing problems with the audio driver installation.
To resolve this, try the following:
1. Click Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
2. Look for the following two items: Realtek High Definition Audio Driver and High Definition Audio driver Package - KB888111.
3. If these items are listed in Add/Remove programs, remove them.
4. Restart Windows.
5. Download the latest audio driver for your PC.
6. Double-click the filename to extract the files.
7. Go to the folder where the files have been extracted and browse to the \HDAQFE\xpsp2\us\ folder or the \MSHDQFE\Win2K_XP\us\ folder. (The name of this folder depends on your PC model.)
8. Double-click the file kb888111xpsp2.exe to install the High Definition Audio Driver Package.
9. Restart Windows.
10. Install the audio driver.

Hey I'm new here so I hope this is the right place to be posting this?

I'm using Windows 10 and have been since it was released, my issue is audio is being panned to the left or the volume from the right is lower than the left. This is an issue that's been going on for a long while, I think it may be something to do with my Realtek HD audio manager. I know it isn't a hardware problem because it affects my speakers and headphones, when I rolled back the driver it replaced it with a HD Audio Driver and the panning issue was gone so I know it's not the audio jack itself. I have reinstalled Realtek HD Audio manager and made sure it's on the latest version. It does this through my rear audio ports as well as my from headphone jack, but not through my Blue Yeti's audio output, but Realtek doesn't recognise that as an audio output. I have also checked the balancing on everything in Playback Devices. I can pan the audio to the right by about half and the volume balances but it loses some of the quality and causes it to sound really muddy.

I was wondering if anyone knows a fix? The only thing I haven't tried is a Windows reinstall, which I'd really rather not right now as I have a lot of data and no real way to safely back it up.

Answer:Audio Panning to the left, I think it's Realtek HD Audio Manger?

I'm having an issue I've had before, and found the resolution for... But can't find it again.

Symptoms: Flash programs, like the sound for the MMO I tried logging into, and the part of an online job application that has a "play" button to listen to a scenario then answer the questions from what you heard... won't play. Problem wasn't there lasntight, it's there today. Winamp, etc. will still play audio. System sounds won't play. Alert sounds used to play a chime but now play the alert tone from the pc.

All drivers are updated and correct. This is a setting somewhere that needs to be fixed, I just don't remember what setting. Some people with this problem report that it fixed itself after a while, but I don't have time to sit and count on that.

I know a new piece of hardware won't fix it... It's an issue in the computer settings somewhere.

Steps taken:
Originally when I went to device manager it showed everything as working.
Down in the system tray I had the volume icon, but when I tried to left click, nothing happened.
When I went to right click>open volume controls, it gave an error saying there were no mixing devices.
Checked that realtek is set to mixing, and checked all drivers.
Went into control panel>sounds and audio devices: no audio device, and no option to set one as default.
I went into services.msc and audio's set to automatic already.

Hello,

I'm gonna try and lay out my problem very simply, and then tell you what I have tried/done.

PROBLEM: When I plug in Headphones, I can not hear anything, and in the playback devices, nothing is shown to be plugged in. This goes the same for my other audio device which is a bose sound dock (for ipod but I connect using a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable)

Okay, so here goes. When I first build the system and installed windows, i wasn't thinking much of the sound as i was installing updates and video card drivers and what-not. I did, at some point, connect the bose to the computer using the 3.5mm jack on the front panel of the computer. It worked fine, I heard the little sounds the computer makes when logging on. Since then I have had troubles with my network card and ran windows update and various other things.

Now no sound works at all. When I realized this I tried:
-Changing the actual front panel cable that is connected to the mobo from hd audio to ac 97 (and changing the setting in the bios)
-Searched for many hours online trying many different solutions such as:
-updating drivers
-rolling back drivers

Other things i've tried:
-system restore
-update bios
-install audio drivers from mobo disc

I have moved past being extremely frustrated and I now just dont know what else to do.

I would greatly appreciate any feedback what so ever :)

I have a new Medion Akoya P7360 (MD 8855) PC running Windows 7. I have been using Skype, and on one call my cousin couldn't stop laughing, he said I sounded like I'd been breathing in helium! I eventually pinned it down and discovered that it happens every time the PC goes into Sleep mode. After power-up, I can ring the Skype Call Testing Service (echo test) and it echoes back my message perfectly. If I put my PC into Sleep Mode (or allow it to do it automatically) then revive it, it raises the pitch of the microphone by about 5 semitones. I have tried a USB Phone, and this sounded OK. The only way I can resolve it at the moment is to re-boot the PC. I'm at a loss to think what the problem could be. I'm pretty sure I have the latest drivers. Anybody got any ideas?

Hi guys,
I'm having a little problem with my onboard audio, having just installed Windows 8.1 (clean install). I have an Asus P8Z77-V LE PLUS motherboard, which includes a "Realtek? ALC889 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC" onboard.
I have installed the latest realtek drivers; R2.73 from the official website.
Now, here's my problem: when I was using Windows 7 on this same machine, I could plug headphones in the front panel connector, as well as speakers in the green back panel connector. This would give me two audio outputs in the device manager/sound list, which was pretty practical and enabled me to output different applications through the speakers or the headphones.
Now, however, there's only one output, irrelevant of whether or not I have two outputs plugged in at the same time. They appear in the device manager as a single device called "speakers" (see picture). Instead of both having separate outputs, they both output exactly the same audio.

Any solution to this?

Answer:Realtek HD Audio only shows one audio output at a time

Hello audiobreak,

Try going into the Realtek HD Audio Manager (Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Realtek HD Audio Manager), then look for a setting called 'Make front and rear output devices playback two different audio streams simultaneously'. I cannot remember where this is located (The Realtek HD Audio Manager has different skins depending on the motherboard vendor), but for an ASUS Motherboard, I believe you click the Cog Icon in the top left and the option should be in there. I don't know if this will create a separate Playback Device for the Front Panel in Window's Playback Devices, but it will at least allow you to hear audio from both your speakers and headphones at the same time.

Hope this helps.

Hello.

Im having the dreadful "No Audio Output Device is Installed" problem on my realtek audio.

It worked some months ago, but im in no position to do a roll back. Im sure the hardware is just fine, it works with Ubuntu.

The computer is a Dell Vostro 430.
My OS is win7 64bit.

I tried the newest Realtek driver suite, the recommended dell-drivers and some basic windows-drivers. Nothing makes the "No Audio Output Device is Installed" go away.

Any help is welcome.
Ive attached my sound-related reg. I believe my realtek device is 0001.

Answer:Realtek Audio: No Audio Output Device is Installed

The Dell driver is required, non Dell drivers will either not work or not work correctly.

First thing, is the Integrated Audio enabled in the BIOS? (F2 at boot up to enter Setup).

Second, on Dell's (and many others) if the motherboard chipset drivers were not installed, the sound device will not work. In this model there are Intel motherboard chipset drivers. Try installing them and then the Dell sound driver. Dell Drivers

Hello BleepingComputer

I just upgraded my computer a few days ago, and I am having problems with the Front Jack Audio/Headphone.

Normally, I set my Headphone to run simultaneous with my Speaker with Realtek HD audi/Stereo Nix (Disable Front Jack Detection and vice versa), and I could change the volume on both devices separately.
But since I changed the motherboard, when I have realtek installed, it doesn't have the Headphone setting in Sound/Playback.
The headphone work perfectly, but its linked to the Speaker's volume, which is really annoying.
Also, the Realtek layout changed from the last one I got, and doesn't have the "Disable Front Jack Detection" option.

So far, I have tired..
Installing an older version of Realtek driver;
Changing the audio setting in the BIOs (HD or AC97)
Changing the audio connector on the MOBO (Hd or AC97)
Tried multiple compinations with Realtek HD audio manager settings.
Cleaned every plugs/jacks related on that.

So far, I couldn't been able to get the Headphone tag at all when Realtek is installed.

Not sure if this is possible, but thought I'd toss it out there... I'd like to have audio sent via HDMI to my monitor while at the same time using the MoBo output jack for a subwoofer. I've only been successful with one or the other by itself in any configuration I've been able configure.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Answer:HDMI Audio AND Realtek MoBo Audio Simultaneously

Does your monitor have an Audio Out? Some do. If it does, HDMI to the monitor, then audio out from the monitor to your subwoofer. Mind you plugging something into the audio out may turn off the monitors internal speakers. You won't know until you try
But…here’s the kicker! A subwoofers job is to not only produce lower frequencies but to also blend nicely into its satellites (speakers). This is most commonly accomplished by either designing the sub and satellites to work together in that the lower cut off frequency of the satellites is close to the higher cut off frequency of the subwoofer. The other is to have an adjustable crossover that will allow you to match the subwoofers higher cut off frequency to that of the satellites lower cut off frequency. You also need to match their output (sound) so that they are even (or close enough!). Otherwise you will get a lot of boom from the sub and not be able to hear much from the monitor.
Monitors with built in speakers are not designed with fidelity in mind. They have tiny amplifiers and do not go very loud without sounding terribly distorted. Even if your monitor does have an audio out, you may be presented with the impossible challenge in trying to match it to your subwoofer. Honestly, you are better off purchasing a 2.1 (or 5.1) computer speaker system. You can get something pretty decent for not too much money.

The issue:
With realtek drivers from either realtek OR the Asus site, I get audio pops/thumps anytime audio is played from idle. Windows navigation's "click" noise turns into a super short "tick" After 10 seconds idle, it's a louder "tick", and when an audio channel is kept open, stuff sounds normal. Even opening a webpage that opens an audio channel makes a nasty crunch sound.

I am on the new ROG Asus Hero Alpha with a 6700k, stock settings in BIOS.

5.1 speakers I am using:

Amazon.com: Logitech Surround Sound Speakers Z506: Electronics....

Also used my previous builds speakers that never had any issues (good ol' dell):

*Windows default audio drivers work 100% normal*

This forum also describes my issue:
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2317852

I have done the following:

Stock BIOS
Updated BIOS
Don't even have my GPU in yet, but that works fine and doesn't change anything
Tried multiple drivers, each time clean uninstall/install
Reformatted countless times
Removed all interference/wireless stuff
Used previous builds PSU and 2 new ones
Swapped all components muliple times
Used different outlets/plugged all into same surge protector strip / tried different surge protector strips
Tried many different drivers/MEI code updates from intel from their own site
Playing with all audio settings / volume levels
Disabled any audio set... Read more

Hi all,

I'd be grateful for any advice to my problem....

Last month I bought a new PC, a Dell XPS 8500 with an Intel Core i7-3770 processor. The PC has onboard audio (Realtek High Definition Audio).

I didn't buy new speakers as I have a perfectly usable set of Creative 6.1 speakers.

My problem is that although my computer plays Windows event sounds through all the speakers, applications such as iTunes only emit sound through the front pair.

I have googled the problem and as a result have configured the Realtek to use 7.1 audio but without the side pair.

Also, I have disabled the Realtek driver and have reloaded by asking Windows to select the best available.

But still the problem persists.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

dagi

Answer:No audio except front speakers (Dell, Realtek Audio)

First, for proper operation you must use the Dell supplied sound driver. Non-Dell will either not work or install or will not work properly, and that includes the basic function Windows installed HD Audio Codec.

6.1 is an oddball speaker configuration for current technology systems, its either 2.1, 5.1 or 7.1.

I used to do a lot of support on the Dell users forum (community) and recall that certain applications will only play audio through "stereo" speakers only. My experience on the Dell forum (I had over 37,000 posts and am still registered) also is the reason I note the Dell supplied sound driver.

You could also post on the Dell community Desktop hardware section and one of the user experts there may have more suggestions.

I have Realtek HD Audio 5.10.0.5605.

On Realtek Audio, there are visual representation of the ports on my computer.

http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/7713/realtekr.png

the last driver version of realtek allowed you to reassign the funcitons of these ports to whatever you want. For example, I could change a speaker port to a microphone port if I wanted.

I can't seem to do it in this version, the option doesn't present itself. does anyone know how you can do that, or is there another way? I'd like to have two speaker ports instead of just one. i dont have front ports.

Answer:No 2.1 Audio option in Realtek HD AUdio Manager

A 2.1 speaker system uses "Stereo". There is no specific setup for 2.1.

A 2.1 speaker system only uses the Green speaker jack, which is 2 channel (stereo). Other systems such as 5.1 or 7.1 use more than just the Green speaker jack and have setups for those.

Right my Sony Vaio VGN-FJ1S/W currently has no sound. Under "Sound and Audio Device Properties" in Control Panel it says i have no audio device however under Device Manager it states there are no issues with the "Realtek High Definition Audio". However when the laptop boots up I get the Sony Vaio startup sound which plays at the Vaio animation screen before the Windows Splash Screen. Then once I log in to a user account I have no sound at all other than the default windows' beep.

So from this I can tell that the sound card which is onboard is fully functioning otherwise I wouldn't hear the sound on startup, eventhough when i run DXDIAG it says there is no sound card found.

So far I have tried:
Uninstalling/Reinstalling Audio Drivers through Device Manager
Rolling back the drivers in Device Manager
Editing the registry from SP3 to SP2 and installing "KB888111xpsp2.exe" then reverting back to SP3
Uninstalling the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver from Add/Remove Programs then reinstalling older and newer versions

I have included a hardware log from PC Wizard containing my laptop specs aswell as screenshots. I'm sure there is a simple step I am missing which is why I am posting here to get others' ideas' as I have tried everything I can think of. I think I have included as much information as I can but if anything else is needed then I'll be happy to get it.

Answer:No Audio Device Problem (Realtek HD Audio)

Sony's website provides Realtek drivers, so you have a Realtek chip, yet the logs say you have an Intel chip. Interesting.

Try this: open Device manager, right-click on "Realtek HD audio" and choose "delete". Then restart and cancel any XP prompts and install the drivers from the Sony site.

Basically, when I plug in a pair of headphones and I check "Headphones' in the Realtek HD manager I can't use the microphone at all. On the other hand, if I check "Headset", the mic works, but I can only hear from the left cup.

Hello!

After upgrading to windows 10 I was going through my Audio settings, I had noticed that the HD Audio from my motherboard both front and rear jacks are not displayed at all in the device manager nor the audio tab in control panel - it's as if they dont exist. I looked at the ASRock Z77 drivers and it it appears they are realtek, so I went and downloaded the most recent drivers to no avail.

At this time I do not know what I should do to proceed I looked online and I see alot of sound troubleshooting tips but none that seem to fit my problem.

again TL;DR after upgrading to windows 10 I no longer have my onboard audio devices at all.. it's as if they dont exist.

Hi and welcome to the forum

Try downloading this R2.79 driver direct from Realtek. It is a newer version than the one on offer from ASRock. Reboot and check if it functions okay. If it's all good then download the Microsoft Hide and Show Updates utility. You can use it to prevent Windows from changing the driver automatically (as it may try)

Edit: I believe the next Realtek HD audio driver update will be available for download within the next few days or so.

About a year ago, I bought the HP Pavilion Slimline s5780d Desktop PC.
http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bi...d=5035352&prodTypeId=12454&objectID=c02713705
All was fine and dandy.
Then one day, about 2 months after my purchase of the PC, my speakers would only play sound from the left one. I thought that my right speaker had died, but didn't bother to replace it.

4 days ago, I bought new parts to upgrade my PC.
New casing, graphics card, RAM and speakers.

Got a friend over to help me assemble it. Everything worked fine.
But when I plugged in the new speakers, I realised that again, only the left speaker would work. I then concluded that the port in which the speakers were connected to was bad, and plugged the speakers into the headphone jack at the front of the new casing which worked.

When I came back to the computer 2 days later, only the speaker on the RIGHT would work!

I realised that I could reassign the ports at the rear as audio out via registry editing(my realtek control panel thing won't let me), but again, audio would only come from the left speaker.

tl;dr, speakers connect to rear of computer, only left speaker has sound. Speakers connected to headphone jack at front of computer, only right speaker has sound.

WHAT SORCERY IS THIS?!

Thanks in advance!
EDIT: I am running Windows 7 64bit Home Premium

Answer:Realtek Audio Will Only Play Audio Out Of One Speaker

One of the jacks may be broken and causing issues, or the audio chip is faulty. Easiest fix to replace the sound card and use that for the audio, here's one with a internal header for the front audio jacks; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829132020

Windows 7 64-bit I'm using an AMD Athlon 64 3500+ processor My audio is working, but I'm getting "popping" noises every 15-30 seconds and it's really bothering me. I updated to the latest driver for Realtek AC'97 and I insalled the Realtek HD Audio drivers, but only the AC'97 shows up in the device manager. When I got to add/remove programs, it shows that HD Audio can be uninstalled, but I don't know if that means it's working. From reading around on the internet, some people said the HD Audio driver solved their problem, but I'm not sure if mine is actually working or not. I don't know much about computers, so please spell things out explicitly for me so I can just follow directions.

I have five speakers and one subwoofer connected to a Samsung HT-Z310 DVD-player, and then connect that to my MacBook using AUX 2.

(I have no idea what AUX 2 is, but that's what the tiny display on the DVD-player says.)

The problem is that the Mac only plays stereo on them.

When I open Realtek HD Audio Manager, in the "Speakers" tab, and the "Speaker Configuration" subtab, "Speaker Configuration" is set to "Stereo" by default. And it's grayed out, so I can't change it.

Further than that, I only have two options: "Full-range Speakers" - "Front left and right" and "Headphone Virtualization".

I have also tried "Control Panel", "Hardware and Sound", "Sound", marking the speakers and clicking "Configure", but the only option displayed in the list is "Stereo".

I have no idea what's wrong. The rear speakers work, but play the same sound as the front speakers.

I'm currently using IDT audio on my laptop, and I'm wondering if I could change the audio to Realtek. I also noticed Realtek PCIE Card Reader and Realtek Ethernet Controller Driver in the Programs and Features list. Why do I have Realtek products when I have IDT audio?
Can I change from IDT to Realtek?
I have an HP Pavilion dv6-6c35dx. If there's anything else you need to know, let me know. Thanks

Answer:Is it possible to change from IDT Audio to Realtek Audio?

No, the IDT chip is soldered to the motherboard, and cannot be changed.
The manufacturer has many options available to them when they design the computer. (such as network chip, sound chip, and others)

The IDT will/should work just fine for your system.

I have an ASUS M5A88-M motherboard with Realtek HD onboard audio. I rebuilt the machine bringing it back to Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and now have no audio. All indications show that audio is playing meaning the green bar shows movement when audio is happening. The default sound device is set to speakers

Here's what I've done so far to try to fix:Updated the motherboard BIOS to the latest version
Updated the latest Realtek drivers
Uninstalled the Realtek drivers and rebooted
Confirmed onboard audio is enabled in the BIOS
Confirmed the speakers and headphones are working on other computers

Control Panel / Sound shows the Speakers as the DEFAULT device and as mentioned when I play something I can see the green indicator bar moving up and down but no sound.

I've attached images of Device Manager, Control Panel-Sound and the Speaker volumne.

I don't know what else to try here as I've already spent hours trying to fix this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi
I've been given an old PC with win98 so I'm fixing it up for some kids who can't afford a PC. I have reformatted the HD with win98 and everthing is working fine except for the sound. In the "Control Panel" under "Device Manager/PCI bus" there is an exclamation mark (!) next to "Realtek AC'97 Audio for VIA(R) Audio Controller". I have loaded DirectX 9 on to the PC hoping this would fix the problem but it hasn't. I've searched the net and also searched the Forums here for a fix but just can't find one. I have spent several hours trying to fix it so as you can imagine I'm getting to the end of my tether.
Sound is important because I have loaded the computer with educational games and an Encyclopedia for the kids as they won't be connected to the net for financial reasons.
If anyone can help me I will be so grateful and so will the kids as they are waiting patiently for their "New" computer.
Thanks

Hi Fellow MJ'ers,

I have been having a lot of "Small" issues with changing over from Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 8 Professional With Media Centre Edition.

I took the plunge to change over because I was given the best deal possible, and I actually like the new Windows 8, Its blistering fast, with atleast a 50% performance increase in windows itself, with the fastest responses and load times I have ever managed with my laptop, but one niggling issue is I cannot get Windows 8 to allow me to change the speaker configuration from 2 desktop speakers, to 5 speakers and 1 sub surround sound like I did with Windows XP, Vista, 7 Ultimate....

It physically wont allow any actual changes, that's using the default Windows 8 Pro installed audio drivers, then also downloading the latest Realtek HD Audio Drivers from their website that supports Windows 8 x64, but that makes no diffirence, I am literally pulling my hair out trying to find out how to change it because at the moment, my Logitech Z506 5.1 Surround Sound system will only play using the 2 front speakers and the sub, but the 2 rear and centre speakers remain useless and un-used, which has decreased in the overall loudness of the setup when playing music, games, etc

But I have just been going through the System Hardware Viewer, and for Sound Devices, it has 2 listings:

Intel(R) Display Audio
Realtek High Definition Audio

I have no clue what so ever what the Intel Display Audio is or why it is listed ... Read more

I've spent countless hours trying to fix this. It started out with me wanting to enable the "stereo mix" option and so following a youtube video I proceeded to updating the driver using device manager > update driver and after restarting, I received this error.

I then downloaded the newest driver of the manufacturer website (realtek hd audio) realtek.com and installed it. Mind you, the stereo mix option did in fact show up, although I couldn't make use of any audio since I was getting the "no audio output device is installed" error.

All this time, I can still see the mic/line-in inputs, and headphone/speaker outputs in the sounds (control panel). I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, and using the roll-back option for drivers. Although from control panel, I managed to uninstall the sound card software for realtek. Between all of this, after any sort of install or uninstall I also restarted my computer.

I downloaded the drivers from the HP site (PC manufacturer for my comp) and the Realtek site (sound card creator) and all of them are giving me the same results.

Furthermore, I even tried the System Restore and it wouldn't work complaining about an anti-virus when all of mine are already disabled. I checked what the System Restore would affect too and nothing for my driver was in there as far as I know.

I'm really not sure what my options are now, and it's sucks not having any sound.

Please help me out! Thanks!

Question: realtek audio

my realtek HD software is not working correctly. The issues are no EQ cannot get the rear speakers to work the software seems to be a stripped down version of what it once was,it was sent in for repair X51 R2 they installed new hard drive and had to replace 8.1 OS and all software. When brand new all was working beautifully, after repairs somewhat slow and audio problems the software seems to be stripped down version of what I once had before repairs. Example no EQ although EQ button does exist but when clicked does nothing,no room correction, just simple version of what was there before repair due to hard drive failure.I have newest A10 bios, chipset software, and when I went to dell driver download for X51 R2 it reported that there were no drivers or software for my system which is not the case upgraded to win 10 from 8.1 right after repair, but never tried audio before upgrade.I think its the wrong realtek HD audio  version for my system.

Answer:realtek audio

ok fixed had to revert to 8.1 drivers and viola poof just like that, trick is you cannot let windows update it after reboot,if you do same junk you had before,I found a post that explained how to stop windows from updating it after the reboot in fact a step by step post.its in control panel systems and programs but forgot the rest sorry. but keep searching when you stumble across it you will know it. I don't see a Realtek device showing anywhere.
Ordinarily I run Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on the same box and all this works flawlessly.

should I go get the Realtek Driver for Windows 7 and try to install it? Checking Windows 8 update I see nothing I don't already have, but does Windows 8 update include a hardware section? I don't see such showing as would be the case with Seven.

That all aside, sound should still be working via HDMI to my big monitor as it is driven by the ATI Radeon 6xxx series which has Catalyst 12 drivers in play. I queued up a video using the Windows 8 embedded media player and no sound... which is what got me started on this issue.

thanks for your wisdom

I'm trying to revive an old laptop to give to a Senior Citizen. I have an HP Pavilion dv8000 Laptop that originally came with Windows XP Professional. I upgraded the operating system to Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and have not had sound since. The laptop uses AMD Turion 64 Mobile Technology ML-44 2.4 GHz. Today I downloaded and installed Realtek Driver 6.0.1.6305 dated 6/19/2009. I purchased this computer in 2005. Now I get the message, "This device cannot start. (Code 10)." I got this driver plus 5 others from SlimDrivers. All worked except this one. I also have the red circle with the white X beside the speaker. Can anyone help?

Answer:Realtek AC'97 Audio

Go to Start/Search and type devmgmt.msc, right click the devmgmt results and Run As Administrator. In the Elevated Device Manager, any devices with yellow flags need drivers installed.
You should only download drivers from the computer manufacturers Site. It is not RealTek but Conexant Audio driver Drivers & Software - HP Support Center.

Hello guys, first of all I would like to say that it's my first time posting here so if im in the wrong section; my apologies.

So a few days ago I had to do a system restore due to getting numerous bluescreens (After booting it took like 1-2 min and it just went to bluescreen), as I saw it as my only option in order to fix it here and now. Anyways I did so and after installing all drivers through Driver Booster and Windows Update and what not I noticed that my sound Icons were not the same as before
( ).
This would normally not show as (SST), only Realtek High Definition Audio. The problem with this is that my Realtek Driver and on properties on the H?yttalere (Speakers in Norwegian), there are not the options of Loudness Equalization and some other options that were available ( ).

So my question would be is there any way of either obtaining previous versions of the driver so I can get the Loudness Equalization and the normal EQ and the other options (); As im missing these. Any help is appretiated and I've been trying to solve this problem the last 2 days and I would prefer not to do another system restore as I dont wanna risk getting the same problem and only have to reinstall all the other drivers which is a waste of time. So any help or suggestions would help.

Question: Realtek HD Audio

Hello, I came here because my realtek audio won't allow me to use my headphones and my speakers. I have two audio devices, my speakers and my headphones. My usb dongle for my headphones broke and I had to get a female to male 3.5mm jack to replace the dongle. I now have two 3.5mm jacks plugged into two ports and realtek hd audio only releases it as one device and doesn't allow me to split the audio. My front audio panels don't work for whatever reason. (I've plugged them into the right ports, I believe they are broken. Any help would be appreciated. My drivers are up to date as well. Ok, i cannot install the HD drivers, well i can but they will not uninstall the current driver i have which is 6.0.1.6293. I have tried an OEM version (HP Pavilion) and it said i did not meet system requrements. I tryed to uninstall the driver myself and install the HD drivers but it did not work, and when i booted again windows searched for the drivers and istalled them. I cannont get this to work. I would like to have my 5.1 work.

I found a little solution sort of but i still can listen to music in 5.1 like XP. I go into my sound effects manager and change it to 6 speakers 5.1, but it doesnt acctually change in the setting but i can hear that all the speakers now come on. And then i goto test my speakers using the control panel thing and i can hear them. the only problem is the system still cant use the other 3 speakers. I cant get the Rear Speakers and Center speakers to work when i do this, the front speakers and sub are the only ones that work. How can i fix this?

Answer:Realtek AC'97 Audio No 5.1

Hi NEDMInsane,
Maybe there is a 5.1 driver on this page you can try. None seem to be made for Windows 7 but a vista driver might work.

Realtek

Hello my newfound community,I need some words of wisdom in order to solve the problem.I am about to start using a music recording program for which an soundcard with asio functionality is recommended. My current card is realtek hd audio.Do I need another one or will this one do the job?

Answer:Realtek hd audio or other

Is this Realtek sound a PCI card or is it on-board sound? If it is built into the motherboard (on-board), I would start by purchasing a good PCI sound card like M-Audio produces

Question: Realtek Audio?

Hello all,

Yesterday I attempted to upgrade my windows vista 64 bit to windows 7, it went totally wrong and I ended up having to just totally reinstall vista. My specifications are as follows:
Monitor: Samsung Syncmaster P2250
Motherboard: XFX nForce 780i
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
Memory: Corsair 4GB Kit
Graphics Card: 9800GT (512MB DDR3)
Sound Card: Not got one.

Anyhow, on my previous version of Vista in my bottom right toolbar there was something called Realtek HD Audio, it was a great help when plugging in and swapping between my headset and speakers. Since the reinstall this HD audio program has not come back, and i have no idea how i can re-attain it. I've updated my motherboard driver but other than that, i'm totally clueless!

Help me get my Realtek Audio Manager back please!!!
Thanks in advance, Jon.

Answer:Realtek Audio?

We have the same mobo; you get the audio driver from XFX's website (you need to register the product first).

Answer:realtek audio

Hey,
i had a simular problem a few weeks ago, but it was my build in hardware
What was my problem was that it wouldnt send a signal to my stero aswell, What i found out was wrong was another program interfering with it, more specifically a program to make my Mbox (which is like an external sound card for a program), well make it a sound card, after i did that i couldnt send signals to my pc via mic, or send any from the pc to other devices because it changed the registry and re routed the signals
the only thing i can think of would be to think about any programs that might be interfeering with them, was there anything werid that oy did or was happening before that happened?
and i dont know about realtek hardware but im guessing its a build in device?
its not the ports themselfs, because you have tried both sides
but because you said that you hooked your tv up via hdmi and send audio through it, could mayme mean that your sound device inside the computer has decided to die?

I've been at this most of the evening, reading posts and trying to figure it out on my own, to no avail. Just built a new pc with Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 mobo with onboard Realtek HD Audio. I'm running windows 7 Home Premium 64 and getting no sound at all. Tried the latest driver, and not so latest. I've got the current one now R2.55 and 6.0.1.6257.
All my junk is plugged in and reading correctly, that is my system sees it. The audio 'appears to process' with the dancing green bars and whatnot. My volume is maxed in both the HD Audio manager and Windows volume control. No mutes there. I have green checkmarks where they're supposed to be, and have both tried my speakers on another rig as well as tried my rig on other speakers. Headphones do not work either, but the jack will register when I add/remove. Have 5.1 set up, all the panel slots set up correctly. Think that's about it.

Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope

Answer:No audio--Realtek and 7

Do you have your "speakers" (sound card) selected as the Default Playback device in the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally Sound Panel?

I just built a PC for my dad and all is well with one exception...

When I was just testing all the ports and such, I found that when I plugged a set of headphones in, the sound never stopped coming out of the speakers. I updated the Realtek driver and still no result. I'm not sure if the I/O is bad on the case, or if it has something to do with a setting.

If anyone can help or knows what to do please respond.

thanks

Question: Realtek HD Audio??

Aight... so I have a brand new Asus G1S Laptop with Realtek HD Audio Manager. The Audio drivers have a pre-set equalizer (meaning you set it to "Rock", "Pop", "Classical", etc.). All of these pre-set equalizers dont sound that great. I was wondering where you can get the Realtek HD Control Panel that I've seen somewhere (maybe with the ALC 880... but everytime i DL new drivers i get ALC 660) with a proper equalizer that doesn't have crap pre-set settings.

Anybody help ?

Answer:Realtek HD Audio??

That is when you have to pay the big bucks. This is a marketing ploy. Give you average so you want much better badly enough to pay $70 to $140 or $220 for the upgrade equipment.

Question: realtek audio

I have no sound from internet explorer nor do I find a realtek audio driver but how do I know what to download

Answer:realtek audio

Based on your service tag number, you DO NOT have RealTek. If the PC came with Windows 8, you have Conexant smart audio.

Driver Details | Dell US

BTW, Dell considers the service tag number as personal data and should not be posted publicly. You should delete that and enter your PC model Number, Inspiron 660.
