Any chance of getting an updated Dell Wireless 1504 (Broadcom) driver for M4700 laptop?

Question: Any chance of getting an updated Dell Wireless 1504 (Broadcom) driver for M4700 laptop?

I have an M4700 running Windows 10 x64 migrated from the OEM factory install of Windows 7 Pro x64, and after checking the drivers installed, the most recent one for the Dell Wireless 1504 is still version WHQL, released 26/10/11.
In other words, the WLAN driver for this model has not been updated once.
To be fair, there's probably been no incentive by Dell to update it as the OOTB driver seems to work OK, but I have noticed all sorts of system issues on the M4700 over the last 12 months and Intel have already posted a newer Prosetx64 version to fix Anniversary Edition related bugs on the wired LAN adapter. So it'd make sense to check to see if there are any newer versions of the WLAN driver.
The M6700 is running a more recent version of the Broadcom wireless chipset (1530) and rather than relying on an ancient HWQL driver, Dell has made available a Win10 compliant driver based on the Broadcom 7.35.340.0 driver pack.
The Broadcom 7.35.317.3 driver - only a few patches behind the M6700 official driver - is compatible with the Dell Wireless 1504 card however the only source I can find for that driver is a driver pack which has been modded, and some of the content of that driver pack is sufficiently questionable to not risk installing it.
General question to any driver tweakers (or to Dell Support if they're reading this) - If BCM 7.35.340.0 is backwards compatible with the Dell Wireless 1504 card, can the M6700 driver update be modified and released as an update to the M4700?

Preferred Solution: Any chance of getting an updated Dell Wireless 1504 (Broadcom) driver for M4700 laptop?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I recently bought a used T41, type 2373-Y22 from a dealer in Germany. I'm looking for a driver for the integrated wireless card. The program Everest finds the following card to be installed: Broadcom 802.11g Wireless Network Adapter (14E4-4320). This seems not to be the original card, so no driver from Lenovo works. Broadcom doesn't even bother to answer the mails. Can Anybody tell me where I can find a driver for this card? Jürgen

Hello and welcome!Did you already tried out any of the Broadcom drivers which can be found on the net, like this or one from here?Add-on: The key here is, to find out what Broadcom chipset your WLAN card uses, since it's easier to find a correct Broadcom driver, if you know the exact chipset spec name. For your pciid= 14e4:4320  it might be possibly --> BCM4306 <-- but you will have to prove that twice before searching for a suitable Broadcom driver.Message Edited by vkyr on 03-24-2008 01:27 PM

Dell d-505 latitude laptop when i install wireless drivers for broadcom adapter i have to log in everytime i start computer.Davidwmessage edited by Davidw

Answer:Dell latitude d-505 when i install broadcom wireless drivers

If it was the windows login - which is how you get into "your" user account. - then presumably you know what that is?If the wifi login (to access the router) you simply enter the SSID and the access key (aka incorrect;y referred to as the password) for the router. Providing you didn't change it from the default it was delivered with, it will be on a sticker on the base of the router...Incidentally it's generally wiser to change the access key from the default/delivered one to something else; and make suitable note elsewhere what you changing it to. If it's your home/router no harm to stick a note on the base of the router; and also email it to yourself...

Answer:Can't get Broadcom wireless driver to install

Check the place the wireless driver gets unzipped to, then try to manually update the driver by right clicking on network controller & clicking on update driver & specify the directory. And then check if the driver would get installed or not.

I have a Dell Latitude E6530 and I have the classical dell problem of windows not recognizing the "Broadcom USH" driver. Anyway, normally you solve the problem by installing Dell ControlVault, that installs the fingerprint driver.
So I downloaded the driver from their site but when I try to install it I get the following error:
Error 1923.Service Credential Vault Host Control Service (Credential Vault Host Control Service) could not be installed. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services.

Of course I'm trying to install it using an admin account.

Any ideas?

Answer:cannot install Dell Vault Host Control driver (broadcom USH)

Hi lethargos

Found this article which was just updated in the last month.

How to resolve a Dell ControlVault (Broadcom USH) upgrade failure | Dell Canada

I also noticed one article that stated you get the same error message when the service is already installed. Did you check your service to see if it is there.

I also see that these are Windows 7 articles. When you installing have you tried compatibility mode?

Hey Guys,

~Per a moderator's request, I have created a new thread. I had initially commented this post in another thread. ~

I did a bare metal install of Windows 10 on a Dell E7250 (touch). While docked at work, no issues at all. As soon I took the machine home, BSOD after BSOD. At this point I'm trying to figure out what culprit is... VPN? SEP? Drivers?

So I ended up looking at the dump files, and it seems that "bcmwl63a.sys" is the main culprit [Broadcom Wireless 802.11ac -ASA- Dell Wireless 1560 802.11ac]. I'm not all that familiar with deciphering BSOD dumps.

I have tried several different driver scenarios. I have tried installing the latest Win 10 driver from DELL (version, which made no difference. Reverted back to an older driver (version, still had BSOD's.

I also tried an SFC scan, and it did return errors that were supposedly unfixable. Not sure if it is related at all.

My fear is this is a definite driver issue that dell and Broadcom have to figure out. I'm in the process of testing out another machine (same model) just in case. But I thought just to post my findings thinking maybe someone can suggest something that I haven't tried, or make an observation that I wasn't able to see.

Attached will be the minidump logs collected by dm log collector. I will also upload my cbs.log from the sfc scan, to see if that helps:

Please make a backup of your important files and get your rescue media or create one.
Please create a restore point.
Please follow this tutorial run driver verifier.

Driver verifier stresses your drivers and will crash your pc if any driver fails due to a violation.

Driver verifier should be performed for a max of 48 hours, or when you have a bluescreen, whatever comes first.

If driver verifier has found a violation and you can't get back into windows normally, try to boot into safe mode and reset in safe mode driver verifier, or in the troubleshooting options open command prompt and type verifier /reset.

Your system will act very sluggishly while driver verifier is enabled, this is normal as your drivers will be being subjected to heavy testing in order to make them crash.

Answer:G70-70 - Error when installing Wireless LAN driver (Atheros,Broadcom)

hi Robert,
Welcome to the Forums
The "No Appropriate Driver to be installed" error usually pops up if the installer can't find the specific hardware ID(s) to install the necessary drivers. This may happen if you have a different type of wireless adapter on your system.
Can you try to install this driver and observe:
WLAN Driver (Atheros, Realtek, Broadcom, Intel) for Windows 7 (64-bit) - Lenovo G70-70
If you still get the "No Appropriate Driver to be installed" error, can you try to follow this guide on how to identify the wireless card manufacturer (or post the hardware ID here). and observe.

Let me know how it goes.

Having problems with a Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop. OS is Win 7 Home Premium.

This laptop suddenly stopped connecting to anything 7 days ago. Since then I've confirmed that the wireless adapter is working (can see access points).

If I plug in a working ethernet cable there's no light at all. Device Manager that's set to show 'hidden devices' shows the Broadcom 57xx Gigabit Controller as 'not connected, Error Code 45.'

Also, when a known working ethernet cable is plugged in no light comes on at the jack.

When the internal wifi adapter, or a USB external wifi adapter, is on I can see various nearby access points and it will make an initial connection to that router BUT will not complete the negotiation and give internet access. I'm guessing it does not get an IP address?

I have updated drivers for the device but the problem remains.

How can I fix this? Is the device accessible without totally disassembling the entire laptop? I have a Dell service manual for the model but I can't find a diagram or instructions for this particular component. Point me to some diagrams that show where it is and how to access it?

Or, is it possible to just leave it alone and get a USB ??? that takes it's place and allows Wi-Fi to fully connect to the internet? If so please advise what type of device I should search for.

Appreciate any help.

Hi all

I'm at my wit's end.

My laptop is giving me the BSOD at random times, regularly over the past fortnight. They usually happen while I'm using Chrome, and involved the Broadcom wireless driver. But also happens at other times, I was using the dm_log tool now (without any applications open, just after logging onto my machine) and got the BSOD while the tool was working.

I updated all my drivers recently, no change. When I run in safe mode, the laptop seems to be ok.

After I log on the BSOD happens usually within 2 hours, and sometimes while the OS is still loading, it's that bad

About two months ago, I contacted you about finding out what driver I needed for my Dell Latitude E6510. I have tried everything that was suggested and even some things that were not suggested. So I thought I'd try again for your help.I've called Dell; no luck there without a service contact. I contacted Intel because the modem is reportedly an Intel modem. No luck there. I have even reinstalled Win 7 and that didn't help either. Does anyone know how to tell if a modem is good or bad?I've searched the laptop Device Manager and find there is no Wireless entry, but there are six entries under ?Other devices? which is preceded with an icon containing ???. Each of the six entries is shown with an icon consisting of (what looks like) a ?1? in a yellow block preceding each entry. The six entries are: Broadcom USH w/swipe sensor; Ethernet Controller; Network Controller ; PCI Serial Port; PCI Simple Connumications Controller; and Unknown Device.Do you know anyone who might own a Dell Latitude E6510 and ask them what their wireless driver is?I'm still a novice on Win 7 and therefore will need explicit details if you know how I can find out what the driver is.Thank you.Bob K.PS: Is it time for me to take my laptop to a Computer Service company?

Recent versions of the DW1560 driver have made my system completely unstable due to recurring BSODs which note one of three errors: bcmwl63a.sys, fault in page file, memory management.
I've run checkdisk and Dell's PC doctor app and neither shows an error, I've also done a clean reinstall of Windows 10. Only going back to the 2014 W8.1 driver has worked. Unfortunately, both Dell update and Windows update will continue to attempt to install the new unstable drivers.
This appears to be a widespread issue (see google results for "dell bcmwl63a.sys windows 10". Posting here in the hope of getting an update on this issue, or any info on a better workaround.

Good Day. I have upgraded my old Dell Studio 540 from Win 7 to Win 10. Everything seems to be working fine except the keyboard no longer works. In Device Manager the keyboard is now "Unknown Device" and automated device driver update attempted to install Pluralinput Keyboard 0.8.4. The driver software encountered an error while attempting to install. Dell offers no assistance that I have been able to find. They did not test the Dell Studio 540 for Win 10.
Any suggestions for a keyboard driver? I can always purchase a Bluetooth keyboard.

Answer:Dell Studio 540 updated to Win 10 - Keyboard driver not working

According to our friends at Google, "Pluralinput Keyboard" is a third party driver that allows multiple mice and keyboard to be used simultaneously.

Sounds like it's the cause of your problem. Can you uninstall it?

I upgraded to Windows 8 Pro and supposedly I installed all the Windows 8 drivers I got from my laptop's manufacture website (Sony) but when I go to device manager in control panel my wireless card has the yellow exclamation mark and in the properties it says that no driver update is installed even though Intel's driver update utility says that my Intel Centrino wireless card is up to date. A few minutes ago Action Center said that I needed to update the driver for my wireless card (which later disappears after checking for a driver) but updating it in windows doesn't work but like I said before the Intel Driver update Utility says everything is up to date. For now my only issue as far as drivers are concerned is me being unsure if my wireless card driver is up to date because I'm seeing 2 different things between Windows 8 and Intel's utility. Any thoughts on what I should do or if there is even a problem?

Answer:Not sure if my wireless card driver is updated or not

hi, try using the win7 driver for the wireless device, and install it compatibility mode

1) I recently bought a  Dell Precision M4700 that has a Displayport, HDMI and VGA ports.
2) I also bought a Dell monitor U3011 that also has Displayport, HDMI and VGA port.
When I use VGA cable with VGA ports I am able to use dual (laptop screen and U3011).
But I would like to use Displayport to connect the U3011 to laptop. This setup used to work fine until yesterday.
Today I am not able to view/use my U3011 when I connect via Displayport (works fine with VGA).
How can I make laptop detect the U3011? The monitor says "there is no signal".
I don't have another laptop or monitor to troubleshoot the issues.
Here is what I did:
1) Upgraded the BIOS to A08
2) Upgraded NVIDIA Quadro K2000M Driver to version
3) Upgrade other device drivers to latest releases.
Your help is much appreciated.

Answer:No signal Displayport Dell Precision M4700

Hi katari,
If the monitor has driver’s disc, please install the drivers for the monitor.
If you do not have the disk please use this link to install the drivers for the U3011 monitor:
Click the above link, select the operating system, click Download file and install the drivers listed by following the onscreen instructions.
Try changing the input source to DVI by using the monitors “Onscreen display menu”. Refer this link:
Also please try a different Display cable to check if the problem is with the cable itself.
Kindly let me now the results.

I have a problem recently with my Precision. When I put it to sleep, whether it be by closing is or the power button or through windows, when I wake it up the screen stays black. The back light is on, but nothing shows. The hard drive is being hit, everything else seems to work fine, the keyboard back light comes back on, just the screen. I even heard a windows alert upon opening it one time so everything must be going fine in the background but no video output.
I do have a dual boot with Kali Linux  and the issue occurs with that OS too. But it works perfect off a restart as long as I don't put it to sleep, I can use it for 5 minutes or 5 hours and everything is great, just sleep mode gets this result.
It is getting quite annoying at this point, I have tried a few things, re-flashing the Bios, reinstall video drivers, clean install windows (even though it does it with both OS's), and updating chipset drivers, no luck. No discrete GPU right now either, just integrated. Any help would be appreciated.
Here is a video of what is happening.

I've just restored a Precision M4700 with Windows 7.
It's got 8GB of DDR3 RAM and a nVidia Quadro K2000M which I believe has 2GB of memory
So why in Windows does it say installed memory 8GB, usable 7.88GB.
Does this mean it's using the Intel graphics by default. So how and when would it use the nVidia card?

I have Dell Precision M4700. It has original 87Wh battery (Type R7PND). But as the laptop has been used for several years now (4.5 years), the battery is getting old (lasts about 20 minutes). So, I bought a new battery. This time the type is: FV993 (97 Wh), Dell original. The problem is, the laptop doesn't recognize the battery. I even replaced the new battery (with another instance of the same type).
How it is not working. When I put the battery in, the battery led starts blinking yellow. When I check in Windows, it shows that there is no battery. I tried turning power off and took the battery out for a while and put the battery back in. Still the same.
Now, when I unplug the adapter (and the battery is in) when the power is on, it works on battery. Windows recognizes the battery and everything kind of works. When I plug the adapter back on, the batter is still recognized, but it says "not charging".
When I turn the power off and start the computer on battery only, it works and no led is blinking - everything seems normal. And when I plug the power cable back up, the charges the battery.
Can anyone give me some ideas, why it is like that? Is the new battery type wrong for my laptop? In specs it says that this battery suits for my laptop.
I have upgraded BIOS etc. Even run diagnostics - but as I had power cable on, it didn't recognize the battery at all.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Answer:Dell Precision M4700 doesn't recognize new battery

Are you buying these directly from Dell or a 3rd party? Sometimes the system might not recognize the battery correctly if it doesn't match up/ have very similar specs to the official Dell one. Do you still have the old battery you replaced? I would recommend trying it just to see if the old battery is even recognized. If it isn't there might be something wrong with the board, but if it is... then the batteries are possibly faulty, however it is odd that 2 wouldn't work.Let me know if you can test the old battery and how that turns out (if you can). Then I can see if there is anything else we can try. I don't normally work on these system models but am very familiar with laptops etc. Best regards, Brad

1. Type troubleshooting into the (Cortana) search bar

First try windows update - any failed windows update or any update that need to be install will cause problems on your system).Secondly, try Hardware And Devices, and then Network Adapter. Hopefully, you're able to get Bluetooth.

Fujitsu-Siemens Scenic T i810 / Windows 2000

Ran Windows update. Offered three hardware updates, one for a HP monitor, one for the wireless card (Ralink RT2500?), and one for the printer. Accepted all three. Installation of printer driver update failed, I think because once the wireless card driver update installed, the PC lost access to the network.

Now the PC is unable to access the internet. The Card appears to be working OK. The wireless hub can see the PC (the ISP - BT Home Hub, Hub Manager application installed on my MacBook shows the Fujisu-Siemens PC).

When I use the ISP software on the Fujitsu-Siemens PC (BT Wireless Connection Manager) to connect to the hub, I get a
"local area 3 network cable unplugged"
error message.

Can someone please tell me how I can undue my muppetry?

Answer:Win 2000, updated Wireless driver, now cannot connect to internet.

Go directly to the Fujitsu site and download the wireless drivers there, uninstall the Windows supplied one and install the correct driver.

I currently use drivers from 2008:

Driver Version - 10/1/2008

for my Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card.

Whenever I run Microsoft Update it tells me to upgrade to the latest drivers, however, with the newest drivers I experience a SIGNIFICANT drop in throughput- something like from 108 mbps with my current setup to 1-15 mbps with the "updated" drivers.

I'd like to have the most up to date driver, but do not want to limit my Wifi bandwidth either. Any advice would be greatly appreciated-- all my system info *should* be in my profile.

PS I'm a brand new user, so I apologize if this is not a well written post!

Answer:Updated Dell Wireless 1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card Worse Connect

If the new driver causes problems and the old one works fine, best to just stick with the old driver. Typically you only need to update your drivers if you are experiencing problems or the new driver adds some functionality. Otherwise it is better to just leave well enough alone. If is listed as an important update, right-click the update and hide it.

If you are set on updating, you can try downloading the driver from the Dell website (link below) and uninstalling the old driver prior to installing the new driver. You can also look at the fixes and enhancements listed on the Dell site to determine if you really need it.

i just updated the driver for my graphic card nvidia GeForce 8200M G with this driver ( ) replacing the hp driver (

and now everything seems to stream better and the gaming experience has improved, but my laptop won't restart when i click on the start menu and restart option.

while the laptop doesn't completely shut down, it just stay frozen with a blank screen perpetually, so i have to manually shut it down by pressing the button and starting it over again.

i know that it's the nvidia driver because when i go back to the oem driver from hp, it works fine again.

does anybody know what i can do because i'd rather have the nvidia driver from their site, as it makes everything stream better, but not being able to restart it is driving me crazy.

i have a hp g60-120us model running vista home premium 32.

i also use a samsung hdtv as my external monitor, but i don't think this makes a difference because even without the hdtv hooked up, it won't restart.

Answer:updated driver won't let laptop restart

Hmmm... have you tried to contact HP with this information? They may have a fix or an update planned. Contacting nVidia would probably go nowhere as they would say "use the HP driver and/or contact HP support". Occasionally, OEM drivers (from NVidia in this scenario) don't quite work 100% when compared to the manufacturer's version of the drivers. Obviously, you found this out on your own. Have you installed the latest updates and SP1 for Vista? It may or may not make a difference, but it's worth a try.

Hi there people!!!

I've already asked in AMD forums... but no ansewrs got so far basically I'm looking for an updated driver for the AMD SATA Controller (my chipset is M780) I downloaded one (included in the catalyst software) from acer site, but has some flaws (hangs windows 7 randomly, event viewer shows error ID 11 origin amdsata.sys every time this happens). I tried to contact acer too to ask for an update, but they do very slowly...

The question is... Is there an updated and secure driver from AMD? by now I'm using (since I reformated my laptop) the Standard AHCI Controller from microsoft (installed by default by windows)...

Another question could be: Updatng my SATA driver will improve performance in disk? or does it do no difference.

Thanks in advance for you hep guys

See ya!!!

Answer:Is there any way to get an updated driver for my laptop? (AMD SATA)

If your system is working fine with the driver from Microsoft I would not worry about it. Don't think you will see any performance difference. Microsoft paid a lot of money for vendors to update their drivers for Windows 7, so if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I have tried it with 4 different headphones or different brands, all of which function perfectly on other devices, so the problem is definitely with the laptop.
Is anyone else experiencing the same? How did you resolve the issue? Any suggestions welcome.

Hello. See this thread from last week.
Rather than updating driver, I would completely remove the existing Realtek audio driver and all of its files, then download and install a fresh copy of the driver from the laptop's support page. and if the same problem persisted, I would try an older driver because sometimes the "latest' have bugs. If the problem continued, contact tech support to get warranty service.

Hello, seem to be having a rather serious issue with my laptop lately. It seems to be occasionally going through a sort of crash. First it "stutters", locking up, unable to move the mouse, if audio is playing it will loop. Then it just resets itself, as if crashing. There's been no consistency on to what causes it, or how often. Playing a Youtube video, running a virus scan, trying to reinstall the network driver, or even just trying to open up the network center in control panel. Sometimes it will go ten minutes, sometimes a couple hours before resetting itself. When it comes back, I no longer have any wireless network capabilities, and the network driver is missing. The icon displays a box, rather then a wifi symbol, with a red 'x', and says "No connections available". Resetting it again seems to fix it, but some times it takes a a few tries. And sometimes it seems I lose just my wireless network capabilities, without a crash (something that happened while writing out this post). The icon stays a wifi symbol, but with a red x. No one else in my household is having any issues, and my phone connects just fine. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the wireless driver, but that doesn't seem to work. I reset the modem, of course, but that didn't solve it. I ran a diagnostic with the Dell Support Assist, but it said it passed and detected no issue. My home desktop is connected to a wireless router through AT&T U-verse and it's broadcasting just fine. I can see the name and everything when I try and connect on my laptop but there is always an error that brings me to a troubleshooting screen. I've made sure the password is correct by going to Start-Run, IPCONFIG and then typing my IP address into the address bar in my browser. I dont know what else I can do, I feel like I've tried everything! Help please.

Answer:Laptop (Win7 Dell Inspiron 1525) won't connect to desktop (XP Dell) wireless router

Sometimes, you need to replace the router.
Sometimes, you can call your service provider and ask them to take a look on line to see if the subscription needs to be refreshed.
But often, all that is needed (despite the fact that it is a lot of work) is to uninstall your existing system, then reboot, and reinstall everything.
You might also find success by looking at your device manager in Windows to see if you have any grey, red, or yellow flags by any related device. That may show you have a permanent hardware failure if you cannot restore it, then you are off to the store or your provider for a new cable modem or router.

Answer:Dell TB15 Desktop Dock - Step-by-step driver/firmware/BIOS installation instructions for XPS, Latitude and Precision notebooks [UPDATED 04-22-16]

Unfortunately I see no updates to firmware or drivers from what I already have for the TB15 and my XPS 15 9550. I have experienced issues with the Realtek USB GBE Ethernet Controller Driver (generating BSOD's) and the mini-Displayport connection from the TB15 to an external monitor (screen blanks out). Time is running out for me. I will be forced to return my TB15 this week.

Answer:Dell WD15 Desktop Dock - Step-by-step driver/firmware/BIOS installation instructions for XPS, Latitude and Precision notebooks [UPDATED 04-22-16]

Hi Brian
Thanks for being active on this issue. (This thread was closed - so had to use the TB-15 Thunderbolt thread above this one). Thanks for opening this one for WD-15
I've been having  most of the problems mentioned in the other Thunderbolt dock  thread .. USB problems, fan noise, not recognising on startup,
I tried the driver list above (for 5510 win7 64) and some refused to install because they were for xps product not  precision. However I when on 5520 support page (for the nth time) and found a new USB driver. ie > Chipset_Driver_V2WY5_WN32_1.16.32.1_A01.EXE
I've installed that but NOPE ... still has USB problems eg stuff like usb (2) keyboard not working. BUT unplug/replug the dock at USB C connection at laptop and it works !! (but this is a PITA and probably will wreck the socket in the long run).
I guess my point is please sync the support page and this support forum if you can, we all love Dell but would appreciate some reciprocating :-)

I have a Dell 8700 (Intel Z87 chipset) I recently purchased an Intel 600p SSD (M2) along w/ a PCI to M2 adapter.
While the SSD drive was recognized by Windows (10), it was not recognized by the BIOS.  My system is configured for legacy boot, and from what I've read a boot to a PCI SSD would only be supported by UFEI.  I'd be willing to reinstall Windows and change my boot mode, but, from all that I've read the current BIOS A11 on the Z87 w/ UFEI still would not support a boot to a PCI SSD.
Any chance there will be a BIOS update in the future, or would I need to go to a SATA SSD?

Hi guys
it's a long sad story but a year ago I tried to update my windows 7 acre aspire laptop to Windows 10 as prompted at the time. Since then it's been unable to boot and has lived in a corner unloved and unused.
I spent hours on the forum at the time to no avail. My laptop will not move past the automatic startup repair loop whatever option I tried then, and I've just tried them all again now but to no avail.
I get a bad system configure info message on the initial start up screen and when trying to revert to win7 get the bsod with a critical service failed.
I wondered if anything had happened as far as the upgrade over the last year to make it easier or whether there was an upgrade fix since.
Your help would be most appreciated please
Thank you

Answer:last chance saloon with this laptop doorstop

Was the problem cause by corrupt files or possibly a hard drive that's about to fail something you will not know untill you try again.
Personally I would use the recovery partition or recovery disks if made to restore the laptop back to factory default. After reinstalling Windows 7 scan of your hard drive for errors and then check your laptop is compatible with Windows 10 especially the graphics card/chip.
Download Windows 10 using the Media creation tool this should save time as it does not require all windows 7 updates installing first.
Installing Windows 10 may take up to an hour or longer depending on the speed of your laptop.

I bought a new Dell laptop and I want to upgrade my old XPS 13 M1330 from Vista to Windows 7.
I ran the Microsoft Upgrade Analysis tool. The results were good, but for Broadcom Netlink Fast Ethernet, the tool said I should go to the device manufacturer's website, download driver, install Windows 7, then install saved driver.
Questions: Does this driver exist on the Dell site? If yes, where can I locate it? Be specific. If not there, how can I find it on Broadcom site? The Broadcom site has drivers, but not a file called Broadcom Netlink Fast Ethernet. Does it have a new name?
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. Any other upgrade cautions are also welcomed.

Answer:Broadcom Driver Help

IMO you would be better off replacing the vista computer instead of spending $100 on the win 7 upgrade. OR use the vista computer as is until you can replace it. That model should be almost at end of life. It is not worth spending any money on a 9 year old laptop.
You don't normally use ethernet on a laptop. You can add a usb wireless adapter for about $10.

my hp pavilion came with broadcom 802.11 b/g wlan. my wireless just like that stoped, now I'm trying to reinstall the driver for it....
where can I find a driver for it? and please if someone knows how to do it right, I don't want to mess up...

Answer:broadcom driver

If you have a Recovery partition and the Recovery Manager installed you can do a repair of the driver. Just follow the prompts, it's pretty fool proof.
Goto HP, input your model on the drivers and support page, and download your driver. There are detailed instructions.

Question: Broadcom Driver

Although everything on my computer appears to be functioning correctly, in 'Devices and Printers' I am advised that 'Broadcom TPM has a driver problem'. When I google this message the driver application seems to be for Win XP - but I am running Win 7 Pro.

Is this important?
If so how do I obtain the correct driver?
The Microsoft correction routine fails to find the correct driver.

Im reformatting for a friend, or rather, finishing what someone else started. I have the entire system online with the exception of TWO components, one of which is the wifi card. None of the Dell drivers work and I do not know what actual card is in the system.

Here is what's missing according to the device manager:

Network controller (wireless card I assume)
SM Bus Controller
I have downloaded all the "recommended" drivers according to the dell support system, to no avail. Im curious if anyone else has ever run into this? I have never had this kind of issue. Either windows upate finds it or the driver is available.

Thanks in advance,

I am fixing a friend's computer and am having trouble with one of the devices. There is a wireless card installed in the computer but I am not finding the right driver or installing it incorrectly.

In device manager shows up as PCI Input Device (I think this is the wireless card)

The machine is a Dell Dimension 8250. WinXP Pro SP2.

Has anyone had this issue before or know how I can locate and install the proper driver?

Please help me

Thanks in Advance

Answer:wireless driver need for Dell Insprion 1300

Since laptops aren't mean to be servers, I doubt you'll find a Server 2003 driver. Have you done any web searching at all? Is there a specific reason you want to run a server operating system on a laptop?

EDIT: I've never heard of wireless networking for a server, so I'd be surprised if there were any server OS wireless NIC drivers available.

Answer:Driver for Dell 1450 Wireless Adapter

Hello mikezby,

Welcome to the forums.

Found this:

Looks like it isn't supported for Vista/Seven. Are you moving from XP?

Have you tried windows update? They might have one.

I did get a XP driver for my printer to install a function. Don't know if it will work for you, but maybe worth a try.

Noticed in control panel that Dell wireless driver progam is installed on my Dell 660. I use wired connections for the pc to my modem and don't know if it is necessary as I do not have any wireless items connected. A wifi finder program shows three items being on when I only have two up, so I wonder if this is the third. Did not want to uninstall till I checked it out.

Answer:Is Dell Wireless Driver install needed

If you don't need wireless access, I'd leave the driver installed (so there should if ever needed/handy to have) but disable the wifi device in Device Manager
