I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have replaced the original 40Gb disk on an Acer Aspire 3003LC with a WD 320GB. Win XP Home SP3 from an OEM disk is the OS. Problem is I can only see 127GB of the 320. I have seen some references to needing at least SP2 to be able to access above 132GB, but as I have SP3 this would not seem to be the issue. Would appreciate some help. thanks

Answer:Acer Aspire Hard disk upgrade

That is caused by your drive being in FAT32. You need to change your hard drive to NTFS file system to use all 320gb of your hard drive.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307881

You may have to reparation/reformat your hard drive if that doesn't' work.

The recovery files are on your hard drive. You should have created the recovery disc the day you bought the computer. Have a look at this:https://neosmart.net/blog/2012/wind...Or you can try a factory restore but you will lose all your files.http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answer...

I have hat to have the HDD replaced on my granddaughters Acer Aspire 5920. I used my Vista Disk using the laptops windows code every thing worked ok, I installed service P1 and Norton 360, (used DVD drive for this) regested both. I then allowed all the updates from norton and Windows. Now the DVD drive (GSA-T20N ATA Divice) made by LG can be seen in divice manager but has the dreded yellow triangle on it. Trying to update the driver has no effect as windows say the best driver is installed. On contacting LG they say it is a Plug and Play device and windows drivers should work so do not supply a driver. I also went in to the regestry and allterd the upper limit to 0 there was no lower limit there no joy. any body got any idears.

Answer:Reinstalling Visa on new hard disk Acer Aspire 592

Try the following -In Device Manager "uninstall" the current driver then "Reboot" - let windows search for and update new driver.

Soo, I own an Acer Aspire V3-771G-9456 laptop, before the crash it was running windows 8, which came preinstalled.

The other day I had gotten a USB in order to make a recovery disk for my laptop. A few days before the hd corrupted and I had to completely reformat using its recovery partition, but then before I could make said recovery disk, the HD started 'buzzing' and needless to say...it's dead now :[

So I ordered an erecovery disk from Acer the other day, and purchased a decent looking SS hard-drive.

I have the new hard-drive installed, but who knows when the recovery disk will arrive!!

So here's where you geniuses come in:

So I'd rather not wait for the disk to arrive as it might take up to 2 weeks!

My brother informed me that I should be able to download windows 8 online and use the product key that's usually listed on the back of the laptop. However, there is no win 8 product key on the back :-/
So I'm at a loss... his laptop has a windows product key, but mine doesn't? Is it located somewhere else that I'm not looking?
I checked the bios but at first glance it didn't appear to be there, and that's as far as I've gotten.

Any advice on how to get win 8 onto my system legally without any more purchases, so that I can be using my new SS-hd laptop preferably tonight?

Also possibly useful info:

Answer:Acer-Aspire V3 laptop hard-drive died, no recovery disk

The Windows 8 key is embedded in the BIOS, there is no COA sticker.

I believe you will have to wait for the recovery disk if you want Windows 8 as you will not be able to download a Windows 8 ISO without a retail key. Microsoft really screwed this up and has made no attempts to fix it.

I have an Acer Aspire 4736G laptop (6 yo ).

It was hit by ZeroAccess in 2013 but I managed to regain access using multiple tools from the WWW and reading other people postings who had the same predicaments like me.

All files and data recovered and backup to other media.

I used the system restore to restore to factory default with 90 percentile success with another 10 percentile using the factory backup restore DVD disc.

Started a fortnight ago, my laptop shutdown automatically even before booting into the password section.

A few days ago, I cannot boot into the password section where I typed my password to reach the Windows 7 area. The HDD ran on for 30 minutes in Starting Windows section until I pressed the radio button to switch it off.

Relaunched Win7 and boot into >F8> Startup Repair mode and the result was system config changed!>Finished>Shut down.

Next, I retried turning on and off the system to boot into Win7 using the radio button. Startup Repair reported disk errors.
Attempting repair and failed many times.
It even shutdown on its own when launching the Startup Repair Process.

The BIOS cannot save changes at all.Pressing F2 and F10 changed nothing.Cannot change
boot sequence from HDD to to DVD ROM.

I used Peppermint 3 Live disc to recover or backup my files, the system report SMART Disk Errors 52 bad sectors and now reallocating damaged data.

The folders where the files are kept cannot be accessed unlike in the past.

Hello, I have an Acer Aspire One netbook with Windows XP originally. I created a set of 2 Recovery Discs, then used DBAN to wipe out the hard drive. Now that the wipe is complete, I try to reinstall the software by booting from the USB DVD drive with Disc One inserted, but keep getting error for No bootable device. Any thoughts? Did I perhaps not create the Recovery Discs correctly? Thanks in advance for any help.

I restarted my computer like normal and for whatever reason the computer is now stuck at the Acer boot screen. I try to press DEL to enter Setup and I even tried pressing F12 to go into the Boot Setup, but for whatever reason the computer does not respond to anything.

To shut it off I have to hold down the power button and eventually it shuts off.

Stuff to know:
- I have a wireless mouse and keyboard being used on that desktop.. Should I perhaps try to plug in a corded mouse and keyboard?
- I'm running on Windows 7 Ultimate.
Thanks

Hey,, maybe someone can help me.  The other day I installed HP drivers for an officejet and the next day my computer will not boot past the Acer logo.  I'm not sure if installing the drivers caused the issue but it was the last thing that I stilled.  However,  after searching (iphone) for ways to fix this I have managed to get to the recovery screens.  I've tryed a few things like, go to adv setting and reset the computer but it fails.  The last thing that I've done was to boot in safe mode, I'll see when I get home where I stand with that.  It takes so long to go thru these menus I don't have the time to set there and wait before going to work.. Can you suggest options for me to try?  Let me know if I can provide specific information, just let me know.. Acer E5-521-23KH-US ThanksSoot

Answer:Acer Aspire E5 will not boot past Acer logo

cootgood,

If you can get the notebook into safe mode you should be able to perform a system restore to before you installed those files and see if that works. If not, you can try the refresh option to try and fix operating system files or restore option to reset the system to factory defaults. If you try all these items and they all fail it could be a hardware problem, such as a hard drive.

I have tried everything I can think of, I have already read through a few other threads with the same issue but none of the fixes work for me.It gets to the acer screen loads that little loading circle then it just goes black... I have tried pushing Alt+F 10 and it got to the acer screen and said "please wait" then the screen went black again. I have installed Windows 8 on a USB drive and have went into the bios and enabled the boot menu as well as change the order of the boot to the USB. This got me a bit closer but still stuck. After about 10 minutes it finally went to a purple screen and a window popped up asking to install. I selected my language and clicked install, it went to another screen that says "setup is starting" and it's been sitting this way for about 20 minutes now. I'm out of ideas. Don't have a clue why this is going on. This is a friend of mines computer, he said he was in the middle of playing a game and the laptop froze then something came up and then it shut off. When it booted up it wouldn't load past the acer screen.

Try booting to Memtest86 you can burn a CD and I think it can also be run from a USB bootable flash drive. This will test your memory for problems and also let you know that the hardware in general will run (except the hard drive which is ignored at this stage. If the memory is good, then boot to your hard drive mfg's utility or Seatools from Seagate (DOS version) the same as Memtest but it tests your hard drive to see if it is just the drive that you cannot install on.If the memory and hard drive tests OK then you may just need to delete all current partitions on the hard drive before trying to install. If the memory does not test good, try cleaning the contacts on the memory with a soft pencil eraser and snapping them in and out 5 or 6 times to also burnish the slot's contacts. Then try memtest again on one stick at a time in case one stick is bad, swap and try again. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

My company's computer needs to be patitioned and reformat. The system is still working well. I mean, nothing wrong with anything (weird huh?). Ok the hard disk just need to be 'split'. I mean, make drive C & D on the hard disk. I know how to do that... easy... Then the HD need to be formatted & reinstall windows XP. Ok, easy too..

But the main problem occured before I do anything (partition & format). I have my own bootable CD that I usually use for partitioning & formatting.

Ok, i insert the CD & restart.
I went to BIOS & changed the boot order (1st boot: CD-ROM, 2nd: HDD-0 & 3rd: Floppy). Then restart again.
Ok the bootable CD is excellently loaded.
I typed fdisk, then came the first problem. it says something like 'no fixed disk'. I exit fdisk.
Then I typed format c:, 2nd problem occured. it says something like, 'invalid drive'.
I forgot the error message because the pc is in my office right now. I'm currently at home 'begging for help' So the error message is not accurate. sorry..

I think, if I run the CD, the hard disk will not be loaded (or should I say, hard disk failure). & If I take off the CD & restart again, change the BIOS (1st boot: HDD-0) then windows will load! Weird right?

I don't think my CD is 'corrupted' nor broken because I tried to run the CD from another PC. Yes, I can access the C drive from that PC.

Does anyone have any idea of the ... Read more

Answer:Can't format hard-disk nor do partition when using boot disk. Hard-disk failure

It sounds like it might be the bootable CD you've created is not picking up the HDD's/partitions.
To eliminate this as a posibility travel to bootdisk and grab the WinME bootdisk and boot from there. If it picks up the HDD you can FDISK and Format from there.
The other option is to boot using the XP CD and let it handle the formatting/partitioning duties...

trying to create a recovery disk with 16 Gb flash drive, but it won't work, is the flash drive too small ?

Answer:Acer Aspire Recovery Disk

geojor, Can you post your computer model and operating system? In most cases a 16GB flash drive will work, but the application should tell you what size you need. I've seen a couple computers that need a 32 GB flash drive, but again, usually a 16 GB flash drive is all you need. Every now and then, certain USB flash drives can't be formatted to fat32 by the application.  I'm not really sure why that is, but I've had it happen.  I had to force it to fat32 using a different method. I've had pretty good luck with the Sandisk flash drives.  https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007YX9O9O/ref=psdc_3151491_t3_B001T99ZTI

I installed Windows 10 and simply installed in on the C: drive.  All partitions are still the same as it came from the factory two years ago.  Now I am trying to figure out which partitions are still in use and for what exactly. The approx 24 GB mSATA SSD drive (Drive 1), is that still used by Windows 10?  I think it was under WIndows 8/8.1, but what for exactly I do not know.  Was it for the factory WIndows 8 recovery partition, which was obsolete once Windows 8.1 came out? Basically I am trying to figure out what is still used, and what I can get rid of. Also, can the SSD mSATA in Drive 1 be replaced with a larger SSD drive and used as a new C: Drive running Windows 10?  If so, I might then used the 500 GB drive (Drive 0) as a data drive (D.  Or do I have to use Drive 0 as the C: drive for the OS? I'm not making any drastic changes, just planning a possible upgrade at the end of the year.

I have an Acer Aspire M5-581T. I purchased it directly from Acer. This was a settlement based on a class action suit. I was required to buy a refurbished. As such I did not receive my Restore disk, or anything else in the package, although I paid additional cash around $195 on top of the allowance. I am now receiving a message that my "computer needs repair" with a File:/BCD and Error code : 0xc000000d.Basically, my operating system appears to be "gone". I have called and searched for help, but short of paying $99 per half an hour to someone in India to fix it, I have found no help. Should I not be able to receive a restore disk from Acer?Acer's website will not even give an option to talk to anyone. All I get is "your warranty expired on 3/12/2013. I did not even own this laptop then! Any help or suggessions will be greater appreciated.Darius

Answer:Acer Aspire M5-581T Restore disk

I would suggest you to rebuild the BCD (Boot Configuration Data) from Command prompt and check if that helps. 1. Insert the Windows 8 installation/recovery media and boot the computer using the disc.if you don't have a media installation or recovery:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/create-reset-refresh-media Note: You need to check the computer manual on how to set CD/DVD drive as the first boot device in the BIOS. 2. Once you boot using the Windows installation disc, on the Windows 8.1 installation window, click on Repair your computer. 3. Click on Troubleshoot and in the Advanced options. First thing you may try is the Automatic Repair. If that does not help, go for System restore. If that works fine, then create a system restore point so that next time you encounter any problems you may always restore the computer to the recent system restore point created. 4. If that does not help, then select Command Prompt. Enter the following four commands into the prompt. bootrec /fixmbrbootrec /fixbootbootrec /scanosbootrec /rebuildbcd Once the command completes, restart the computer. if this doesn't work:Acer recovery media:if you are in the US you can buy it:http://store.acer.com/store/aceramer/en_US/eRecoveryif you are outside the US, you must call/email your regional Acer support service:http://www.acer.com/worldwide/support/#_ga=1.157815354.1650522051.1412414371

Hi,

I have Aspire 5742ZG laptop with 64-bit W7 OEM-licenced. A few weeks ago it started to freeze regularly. A tried to update all software, antivirus, all drivers (using windows automatical search and then manually), I launched disk-checks with none disk-errors. Beside W7 a have ubuntu installed which works without any problem.
So I tried to reinstall windows using acer-recovery mode, first I tried the recover with preserving my data. At the end of the process it wrote something like: the system could not be installed on this hardware.
Then I tried to use recovery without preserving my data and this seemed to be successful and I obtained W7 with factory settings. But freezing continued and after many crashes I wasnt able to launch windows (it repeatedly wrote about configurating system then that configuration failed, returning changes back, shutting down, starting, configuring, failed, changes back....).
So now I would like to renew system from recovery DVD which I have burned about 2.5 yeras ago when I bought my laptop.
But when I insert first of 4 recovery DVDs it writes reading files and then I get to Acer eRecovery with options only recover from disk partition but not from inserted DVD.
In bios in boot menu I have on first place: IDE1: HL-DT-STDDVDRAM GT32N
Alt + f10 bring me to the same acer recovery mode.
Any idea how to force laptop to boot from inserted DVD. Thanks.

This is what we know works, regardless if it requires wiping Ubuntu since we are a Window Forums which specializes in perfect Win7 installs overcoming all barriers. So I would wipe the HD to get it cleanest.

Then if you still want Ubuntu use EasyBCD to add it to a Windows Dual Boot menu as shown in Dual boot Ubuntu-Win7

Hello,I recently used a set of recovery disks on my Acer Aspire V3 because I'd been having Windows boot issues. I'm currently using that laptop and it is incredibly slow despite barely having anything installed on it. That, as well as other issues lead me to believe that the hard drive is failing. My question is, if I replace the hard drive with a new hard drive I just purchased from Best Buy (same size, 1TB), will the recovery disks still work? Is there anything I'd have to do beforehand to get it to work?

Hello,
My friend's laptop ended up getting messed up somehow so he asked me to clear everything off of it and re install the os. So like the last time I had to do it he gave me a system recovery disc and a few other disc's wich were un needed. While i thought this was going to be a simple task it turned out not to be. The problem with his computer is that windows pops up saying that windows did not start succesfully and a recent hardware or software change might have caused this. Windows will no longer boot in normal mode and it will only boot in safe mode. I have searched his computer for any spyware viruses ect with no virus or spyware showing up. So i thought of dissabeling the floppy drive in cmos but i rememberd that their was none and i tried re arranging the boot order but i have had no luck also i have tried choosing what to boot from and it still wont read the cd. I've had the computer for around 2-3 years and I've opened the disk tray roughly 2-3 times. I need to burn a movie for a friend but it won't open, I've gone onto my computer and clicked eject but it comes up with "An error has occurred when ejecting 'CD Drive(F:)'"
Anyone got any idea what the problem is? I've never spilt anything on or damaged my computer in any way.
Cheers!

Hello, So with a year and a half under its belt, my Acer V5 had more than a few programs installed that I no longer use. With Windows 10 around the corner, I figured that I'd clean things up and restore it to factory settings with the handy USB recovery drive that Acer had mailed me. Although I had a working laptop four hours ago, I've now been staring at a "Restore failed --Can not find image path" error message, over and over again. Then the injury has been compounded by the insult of not being permitted to speak to Acer about the damage it's caused due to the laptop's being out of warranty. It appears that several other people have faced this error. So I'd like to pose the following two questions: A) Is there any uniform solution to this problem that can un-break my computer? Extra points if such a solution can be implemented in a timely fashion? B) Given that Acer's recovery drive took my working computer and turned it into (effectively) a flashlight with a keyboard, is it wrong to think that I should have the ability to speak to Acer about this? If the Toyota dealer comes to my house and slashes the tires of my '98 Corolla, the fact that the car is old doesn't absolve him or her of the responsibility for destroying it, right? Thanks!

Answer:Acer Recovery USB Disk Error (Aspire V5 Series)

I should add that I apologize if my tone is a bit testy. After I was transferred to the third party support for out-of-warranty customers, I spoke to probably the most belittling, demeaning individual with whom I've ever spoken. It was a less than pleasant experience.

I have an Acer Aspire 5920 with Vista home premium 32-bit. It has been very sluggish and I wanted to go back to factory settings. I followed the instructions to run the recovery off the d drive. After about 30 minutes the system rebooted and i got a disk read error Press Ctrl +Alt + Del to restart. This just continues with a loop.

I had made recovery discs when I bought the machine in 2008, but can't access them with the disk error. I can reach the bios and have the cd drive as 1st in the boot order.

Any insight or help on getting this machine back in business.

Thanks.

Easy to do. Remove the battery and the six screws and the HDD is exposed. The Samsung EVO 850 is a good pick. I use this a lot in 250GB. If you want to use the second HDD slot there are two screws holding the cover. If it's not in there, you will need the HDD bracket. Acer part 2ND HDD BRACKET 33.PUM07.003

Recently had problem with a Windows IE (10) "virus", and Staples was able to save a few files for me, and reinstalled a full version of Windows 7, using the disk I purchased when I upgraded from Vista.  I know there are a lot of backups on Data ( "D"), some go back to Vista- have NO IDEA what to delete. Windows XP sp2 wont boot from hard disk.

After much to do turns out my computer doesnt recognise the hard disk.

I have a seagate 500Gb SATA hard drive, its about a year old, the computer doesnt get hot in the slightest and it shouldnt be dead. I checked the wiring, as far as i can see, its all fine.

only conclusion i come to is that my hard disk is kaput which it shouldnt be. Can anyone give me any other possible solutions to try out before i cry and/or spend money on a new one? theres a lot of data on it i dont want to lose.

If not, ill plug it in to another computer to check, i havent done that yet because it will take me hours - i can only unscrew the hard drive from one side without rearranging the room.

ty!

Answer:Hard disk boot failure -> computer won't recognise hard disk

Is your Seagate the 7200.11 series?

We've been seeing a lot of harddrive issues layely that has nothing to do with the drive itself but bad SATA cables aas the cause. Do you have another one you can switch out?

When you say the computer doesn't recognize it we're talking the BIOS here, correct?

Another suggestion is what you have already suggested but I would "slave" it in antother system and see if you can access it that way.

Doing a generic google search of the laptop has not revealed any common problems with windows 7, are you installing 32 or 64 bit? Hi, I have a Acer Aspire E700 Desktop with Vista OS. It is 4 years old, and so in the past when I've had a problem I have successfully used the recovery disk.
In this case however, the recovery disk gets up to the point of a black screen of death, and has the message, "Please wait...." and it hangs on there forever, even after 24 hrs of waiting. It also has a loading bar at the bottom which goes left to right across the screen, and it loads the full bar then stops and hangs on that screen, and I have to reboot, so I cannot use the acer recovery disc successfully.

Also, generally the computer doesn't load past the microsoft screen, even when i don't use the recovery disk. It stays on the microsoft logo with the green bar going back and forth below it, and doesn't move off of that, even after waiting hours on end.
I have already tried to hit F2 or Del to enter the bios settings, find the boot order menu, and make sure CD-ROM is above the hard drive in priority. Also tried f8 and all the other options. At first I could get to a screen with safe mode options and all that, and I tried them one by one to no avail. Now even that screen will not come up. please help, as I am totally useless with computers, is there anything else I can try or buy to get it working.

I've had the netbook for about 2 years, and it has performed very well.

One night I shut it down normally and the next morning when I turned it on windows XP Home edition started normal for about 20 secs, and a fast blue screen comes up which I can't read.

Then a b&w screen comes up saying windows could not start, and gave me several options. I've tried them all.

What happens is windows tries starting but I always come back to the black and white screen.

I can't get into safe mode.

I have the factory restore disks, but don't want to lose the data on the hdd.

Is the hdd toast?

Answer:Acer Aspire One won't boot

On the Safe Mode menu there is an option to disable the automatic reboot. That will allow you to check the blue screen for error codes.

When you say you can't get into safe mode does that mean you get the blue screen when booting to safe mode also?

Chances are the data is fine but there's no way to know without additional testing.

I bought an Acer Aspire E 15 yesterday and am relatively happy with it thus far.  However, I do have a caveat.  While I don't mind Windows, I prefer to use a Linux OS.  I burned an Ubuntu ISO onto a DVD and rebooted the system.  It started Windows 10.  I restarted, went into the BIOS, and changed the boot order so that the DVD drive would be booted first.  No can-do, still loaded up Windows.  I changed the Boot sequence to a Legacy one, and then nothing booted up at all upon restart.  So I just had to go back and change it back to where it was.  I want to try it on a flash drive, but cannot find it at the moment.  I'm thinking that if I couldn't boot it up from DVD, it probably wouldn't boot up from a flash either, but will try anyway.  Would upgrading the BIOS make a difference?  I know that it isnt recommended, but to me, not being able to boot up from a CD to install the OS that I'd rather use is a pretty big deal to me.  I have Googled and come up upon several Linux forums that weren't of much help.  Can you guys figure out a fix?  Thanks.

After a while it said something I can't remember and in the beginning there was a biiig sad Smiley [ ]. at the bottom it said that some .sys stopped or something I don't know any more.. However I shut down my Laptop and started it again. Normally there has to be the Acer Logo and Slogan right after I hit the Power-Button, and some circles would start to spin around. Well this time there were no little circles and I started worrying. After like 1 Minute of waiting my screen shortly blacked out and 2 seconds after the logo was back again, but without circles. Then a message in blue and black popped up, which says : "Default Boot Device missing or Boot Failed. Insert Recovery Media" (I don't remember the rest). Hi, I have an Acer Aspire V 15, model number V3-572G-5435 with 64 bit Windows 8.1. I am attempting to boot from a USB and am not able to do so. I've enabled the F12 boot menu from the BIOS and whenever I enter it, Windows Boot Manager is the only thing that is showing. I've also tried disabling secure boot, and in all of the USB ports. I also cannot use Legacy mode as whenever I enable it, I can't boot into Window, therefore it has to be with UEFI. I have even tried changing the boot order in the BIOS to have USB FDD and USB HDD at the top but it always goes straight into Windows.

if you want to boot from USB using UEFI, you need to create a compatible UEFI media, disable secure boot for more compatibility. i suggest you to use Rufus to create an USB bootable media:http://rufus.akeo.ie/?locale=en_US just choose the correct option on the first drop down menu (UEFI only), format FAT32 and then browse to your iso to burn on the USB flash memory. if the bootable iso is not compatible under UEFI (like some multi recovery or multi tools iso like hiren's boot cd) you need to switch to Legacy, do what you need and then revert back to UEFI on BIOS.

I fell asleep with my laptop on my bed and in the morning I found it on the floor open. It didn't seem to receive any external damage at all, though every program froze up. Thinking that it would help, I turned it off and turned it back on. Now it won't boot past the acer logo. It gets to the green acer logo and just stays like that. Can someone please help? This is the only laptop I have and will have fir a while.

My laptop came with Windows 10. and performance and battery life was not ideal for me, so I decided to install Ubuntu 16.04 (keeping WIndows 10 with dual boot). I flashed Ubuntu. but I forgot to fix the Windows Boot Manager settings, so I could not select an OS at boot. After that I booted from USB again and selected "try Ubuntu before installing", and everything was fine. Then I set the laptop to sleep (I had to do something) using FN+F4 and everything was normal, after returning to the laptop about 4 hours later, it didnt wake up. I tried holding the power button for 10 seconds, 5 seconds and 2 seconds, single tap and some other keyboard combinations. Nothing. The only thing the laptop does is blink the "power" LED 5 times when I do anything with the power button. No hard drive spinning, nothing. Suggestions?

I set my laptop to sleep in Ubuntu and I can't do anything with it. I will have to do a hard reset. My question: Will my warranty be void if I remove the plastic plate on the bottom to disconnect and reconnect the battery? Thanks for any help.

Hi Everyone, Yesterday I was using my computer and I got the dreaded blue screen. I hit enter and it went back to "working" correctly, but then I clicked to open Chrome and the computer restarted.  When it got to the Acer boot screen it sayd, "attempting repair" (or something to that effect).  Then nothing happened.  Where I'm at now is the computer will turn on but the monitor stays black and nothing happens.  I removed the battery and tried again and got nothing.  So, I'm wondering what I can do to get it to boot up so I can restore it. Thanks.

My mum's acer aspire one won't boot - just stays on a blue screen with "Aspire One" and logo in the corner. Help me please somebody! Will check back every five mins or so.Thanks a bunch,Shark Boy

Answer:Acer Aspire One won't boot

Try tapping the "F5" key immediately after powering on, which should bring up the Boot Menu with various options. Select the option to boot with the "Last Known Good Configuration" and see if that sorts it. It is possible though that the Acer "splash" screen, which you're seeing at the moment, will prevent you from seeing the Boot Menu.

My son's Acer Aspire AM5100 won't start. Fans didn't even start. Opened, found tons of crud on CPU heat sink, removed fan, cleaned off heat sink, replace fan. Still no start. Removed CMOS for one hour, held power button on for one minute. Fans finally started but no boot. No beep. Reseated all plugs, removed and reinstalled RAM. No burn marks on Mobo. What next?

I have a Acer Aspire ZC-606 and it's not boot. When I try, it show Acer logo and don't go far. It show "insert bootable..." . I check in BIOS the order and it is HDD first nad CD second. I haven't chance to make a choice like "rescue or restaure or else. In BIOS I can make the choice to boot on Windows 7 or 8.1 but it's not booting with one or the other. I think it's need an reinstall disk but I don't have this disk and I can't have access to partitions. Do I can have a reinstall disk ? Is it free or I have to buy ? Please help me.Daniel

Answer:I have a Acer Aspire ZC-606 and it's not boot. Whe...

i don't think that you are able to select windows 7 or 8.1 from BIOS, maybe it's a bootloader that gives you that option. press Del to enter BIOS and check if D2D support is enabled, if not, enabled it and then press F10, save and exit.at next reboot, press Alt+F10 to enter Acer erecovery, if this doesn't work, you need to buy Acer recovery disks. Acer recovery mediaif you are in the US you can buy it:http://us-store.acer.com/erecovery/rcd/if you are outside the US, you must call/email your regional Acer support service:http://www.acer.com/worldwide/support/

Hey this crap just screwed me over by making me log in after writing this up while I was already logged in so I got an error and lost everything I wrote so I'm going to try to make it brief:

My 9" Acer Aspire One notebook got a virus and died within like a day. This was a while ago. Recently I took it out to try to get it working again, and it actually did start up at first, but after started doing the same stuff where it won't start up, back to square one. I've tried System Recovery, but get an Error 4; no luck.

I need to somehow wipe the hard drive via a USB thumb drive, as the little 9-incher has no CD drive. Also the computer I have that I'm working on/with is a Mac, so I need to know how to set up whatever I need for the little Acer using a Mac. I tried resetting/updating the BIOS, also to no avail. The only thumb drive I have is a 16GB, so I created a 4GB FAT partition within it, and tried using that for the BIOS, but it didn't work; I don't know if I need it to boot from that partition or something, but I don't know how to do that anyway.

So there you have it; I need some clear, detailed, accurate instructions on how to do this, PLEASE. I NEED this little thing fixed now. Thanks so much, I definitely immensely appreciate the help. Thank you.

Answer:acer 1350 aspire hard drive

Being female won't make a difference, I promise!Being technophobic won't make much either!click here for a guide to booting from CD. As long as the BIOS is set to boot from CD before hard drive, you should be able to boot with your CD. What sort of CD is it? IE a full disk? Recovery disk? What version of Windows?

I have a month old Acer Aspire E 15 laptop. Its touchpad is very hard and for normal touch it just keeps roaming picking up cells. It can only be stopped by taking off the finger and then carefully taking cursor to an empty cell and press hard to click so the several picked up cells get released and I can work further. I tried Fn+F7 suggested by a forum member but it acts only an On/Off switch for the touchpad. Press Fn+F7 and it goes off, press again it comes back. But the hardness remains. A click with the touchpad means press the touchpad hard till it literally 'clicks'. Looks like the machine will be usable only with a mouse. Before I had a Lenovo and never faced any such problem. Anyone faced such a problem? And any solutions?

It appears my hard drive is done. I will try to spend time recoverring any data using some Linux tools but based on the sector scan hitting 10% with 900 sectors considered bad, I am just hoping for some files. If I were to replace this HD with an SSD, is there a way to get this this with the preloaded stuff that was previously on the Acer? I am fine with Windows 7 and may upgrade to Win10 but it wasn't an issue. I guess I'm looking to see if the cost to keep the laptop is worth buying a new HD or would it likely be cheaper to buy an entire new laptop because it would come preloaded with an OS.

While trying to replace the hard drive in my Acer Aspire One 722-0473 I accidentally yanked the had drive cable off of the motherboard.I can't quite tell whether I need a new cable or if I am missing a part that snaps into place and attaches the cable to the motherboard securely. Please advise what I need to do.ThanksPhil

Answer:Acer Aspire One hard drive cable

i don't think you need parts. the HDD card connector is the big one under near (JHDD) the fan connector (JFAN), you just to slip the HDD cable inside and push back the connector.

I want to replace my hard drive with a larger one of 320gb. I bought one and installed it went through the entire process of reinstalling vista from the recovery DVD 's which I made when I first bought my laptop. The hard drive is a western digital. I kept on getting an error message" windows could not configure windows to run on this pc's hardware. I tried this 3 times. I called acer for advice but they could not help . I called Western Digital and I was told that maybe the port speed was faster then what the mother board could handle. No-one can give me a specific reason why this is. I tookmthe hard drive back to the store . Could you tell me how I can find out what hard drive is compatible for my acer? Pentium M T2310 1.46ghz .
To make sure that the recovery discs where ok I reinstalled the OS on the hard drive and it worked perfectly!
Your help would be very much appreciated. Thks.

Answer:Acer aspire 5715Z new hard drive

Problem can occur if your system has an Intel storage controller that is configured to "RAID" mode in the BIOS. (This is a standard setting for many PC manufacturers) - check your BIOS settings
or
The hard drive you are installing to is an "Advanced Format" disk,
which have a physical sector size of 4 kilobytes and a logical emulated sector size of 512 bytes.
Advanced Format is a new technology being adopted by PC manufacturers to increase media format efficiency which will lead to larger capacity hard drives. If you are replacing a hard drive in an older PC, you may be more likely to encounter this issue. - Make sure any drive you buy is NOT "Advanced Format"

I bought an Acer Aspire 3 but was concerned about storage space so I also bought a 1Tb Western Digital 2,5inch hard drive for it. It was very easy to add a hard drive to my previous acer laptop so I thought installing one for the new laptop would easy aswell. There's clearly a place for the hard drive, however this slot doesn't have a connection point for the hard drive's power and data connectors so I'm a bit confused now. I'll attach some pictures about the expansion slot in this post, maybe acer has some kit for connecting hard drives for this model, who knows. Hope someone can help me with this. The top right corner of the slot leads to this smaller bit with an empty SATA portThe expansion slot
