Preferred Solution: Windows 10 Fall Creator Update-Lenovo System Update Shows 11 Updates But They Are Installed

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

i upgraded from win 7 to win 10 in early august. no problems. i've been installing all updates since then and installed updates always showed status of updates. after installing fall update i noticed my update history was erased and any updates since, like defender definition files, don't appear in the list. only one update is listed: Security Update for Internet Explorer Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3103688) installed on 11/14/2015.

Answer:Windows 10 fall update erased the Windows Update history plus new installed updates don't appear. What do I do?

I have exactly the same problem; no update history except the flash one.

I installed all the updates last tuesday and two of them (while installed successfully ) keep popping up as needing to be installed.   This is happening when i run Secunia PSI as well .

The two are  Internet Explorer 11  updates

KB3021952 and KB3032359

Any ideas as to why ?

Thank you

Answer:Windows update shows two updates need to be installed but already are

Windows downloaded updates could be corrupted you can delete "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution" directory which holds Windows updates cache.
Close all running programs and save open files then open Command Prompt as a administrator type sc stop wuauserv  press Enter key. Type rd /s /q  C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution press Enter key. Type Shutdown /r /t 2 press Enter key to restart your computer and after login to Windows check and install updates if needed.

Tried to upgrade from Windows Update as well as using the Media Creator Tool by downloading from the Microsoft website, neither of them works. In the end, I got an error code "0xC1900101 - 0x20017", and a message "The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation." I have every driver and OS software updated to-date. I do have Ubuntu installed as a dual-boot OS and Macrium Reflect configured as a recovery software from the boot, which might have caused the problem. I encountered this issue a while ago with the Spring Creator Update (see here), and I fixed it by deleting the Ubuntu booting partition, which I definitely want to avoid! I searched on Google, similar issued happened for HP laptops and was related to the BIOS driver. Does anyone know if this issue is related to the Thinkpad BIOS setting or something we have to wait for Lenovo to fix? Any solution to this issue? Thanks.

Since i updated my windows 10 to fall creator update, all become so dark, and i cant find any brightness setting.
any help? Is it my gpu driver problem?
Thanks

Answer:How do i increase brightness in windows 10 fall creator update

See slider at bottom for example. I would guess your monitor has a brightness control option, setting or physical control.

But I wouldn't expect a major change as a result of an upgrade, as you know. However, with the upgrade, it is likely you also have a different driver version.

Is the brightness reduced from boot to lock screen too? BIOS settings? In Safe Mode?

I was previously running the Window 10 spring creator's update without issue on my Yoga 910. However, after the fall creator's update (1709) the fan is VERY loud when plugged into AC power. When running on battery, it's whisper quiet. All BIOS/Software/drivers are up to date, and I've rebooted numerous times. Power mode slider is set to either all the way to the left (power saver) or one notch to the right. At times with the high fan usage, the system seems bogged down and very slow to respond to keystrokes. Task manager doesn't reveal anything super obvious using high CPU time.

After doing the update for Windows 10 after restart Outlook says it can't open due to missing files and insert disc which I can no longer find but I'm also not sure I didn't download Office online.

Answer:Outlook disappeared on Windows 10 Fall creator update!

I am assuming you meant Microsoft Office Outlook and not the web-based Outlook.com.

Whether you bought your Microsoft Office from retail store or online, you should have the product key either way.

Hope you have not lost that too.

You can go online and download your year version/edition of Office and use the corresponding product key to re-install.

P.S. I am out of touch with the recent versions of MS Office, i.e. 2016 and so on. I hope my suggestion is not out of date and becomes irrelevant.

Spoiler (Highlight to read)IMPORTANT!!IMPORTANT!!Friends from Lenovo,Yesterday I did the update to the new version of Windows 10, called Windows 10 Fall Creators Update or Windows 10, version 1709, and after the update was done I find out that the hotkey driver, that controls the Fn commands on the keyboard of my Lenovo ThinkPad X220, doesn`t work correctly with this new version of Windows 10. Therefore, I would like to know what can I do to fix this issue, so the hotkey commands work properly again in my notebook, or if it is going to be an update of this file (8jvu43ww.exe) that I could install in my notebook to fix this issue. Could you please tell me what can I do to make the Fn commands work properly with the new update of Windows 10 (Windows 10 Fall Creators Update) or if it is going to be an update of the hotkeys that is compatible with the new version of Windows 10?I look forward to hear your comments, and I hope you already have an idea, an answer to solve this issue. Yours truly,Cristián Palau

Hi. I realised that after I updated to Windows 10 Version 1709 (OS Build 16299.19), I received screen tearing when I played on games like Garry's Mod. This had not happened before the update, and I now have to turn V-Sync on to play games. I updated to the latest graphics driver with no resolve, link:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27267/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-40-?product=81496

I read about turning off the integrated game DVR and game bar, but I am not sure if I have done it correctly or if it has helped me at all, as I still receive game tearing. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello All.
I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro over a month ago and have noticed something with Windows updates recently. I see in the system event log that the Windows Update Agent has installed several updates, however, if I go to Windows Update History under the Update and Security section, click on Advanced Options, and click on Update History, I do not see that any updates were installed during the date or time that is specified in the event log. Not sure what is happening here and was wondering if someone knew what Microsoft is doing with updates in this case.
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Ok, so recently, i installed an optional update through Windows update on to my Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit system. When i logged on, i noticed that my netgear wireless internet card was no longer working at all. I tried to uninstall the update since it seemed to be working before it was added. however even though it shows up in the "update history" tab, it does not show up in the "installed updates" tab.

the exact update name:
-Broadcom driver update for Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter

anyone know how i can get rid of it/downgrade it to the previous working version?

Answer:Update shows in history, but not in installed updates

Yeah, that is because it is a driver. Go to Device Manager > under Network Adaptors you will find your Broadcom > double click on it and go to the Driver tab. There you can roll- back.

Here's my computer specs:

Answer:Windows Update installed 32-bit updates in a 64-bit system!

Hello Aleya, and welcome to Seven Forums.

That's normal since you have installed the 32-bit (x86) edition of Office instead of the 64-bit edition.

Choose the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Office

Is there a way to keep Windows 10 updated, but not have the Creator's Update installed automatically?
At least not for the time being. I'd like to get updates for my present build# though.

Maybe after a few months the bugs/flaws have been solved and I will do a fresh install of this Creator's Update then.

Is there a general chart which might give info on when i would get fcu.

I went from 7 to 10 just a couple weeks before free 10 stopped.

Answer:fall creator update

Major builds are rolled out over 2-3 months or so progressively. Where MS deems there may be an issue with some hardware configurations MS may try to restrict it being provided.

If you wish to attempt a manual upgrade, you can download the iso yourself (see the tutorial on downloading an iso) or simply search for Media Creation tool.

What is your current build?
(Windows key + R, winver)

Have you been receiving Windows updates - i.e. is that working? Check your Update History.

Lenovo System Update tells me that all is up to date! I searched at Lenovo for new drivers for windows 8.1They asked me exactly what notebook I use. For the x1 carbone 3460-4LG (checked 3 times because I couldn't believe it) they discribed my computer as:i7-3667U(3.2GHz), 4GB RAM, 256GB Solid State Drive, 14in 1600x900 LCD, Intel HD Graphics, Intel 802.11agn wireless, WWAN, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure Chip, 4c Li-Ion, Win8 Pro 64. My notebook has 8GB RAM, 180GB SSD and (as I believe) no carbone x1 has 1GB Ethernet, because it has no network connector at all! So first question: can I believe the suggestions of lenovo for new drivers? There are several drivers released in October 2013 that I surely do not have already installed. That means, Lenovo System Update doesn't work any more, without error message! Question two: Has Lenovo a solution to repair their defective updater? Or will they release a solution? Very disappointed regards.Alex

Answer:After Win 8.1 update - Lenovo System Update defective (doesn't find updates any more)

Yes we have the same Problem with Thinkpad x230, T530 and W530. Under Windows 8.1 System Update doesen't find any drivers. So now we have to download every single driver..... I hope really Lenovo will find a solution very soon......

Well I figured that the "Activation errors" issue would crop up when a new update like this come out - my guess that many people would be doing the upgrade at once.

Blue Screen of Death errors on install: How many of those checked to see if they need to remove some software before the upgrade? Or rather do clean install.

I finally got the 1709 Fall Creator's Update on my Dell Optiplex 330. At first, I thought it was flawless, but then realized that my "Line In" sound wasn't working, which I use on a regular basis, even though no errors were being shown in Device Manager. Not wanting to reverse the update if it was something I could solve, I double-clicked the sound device in Device Manager, clicked on the "Driver" tab, then clicked "Update Driver", selected "Browse my computer for driver software", then "Let me pick from an list of available drivers from by computer". Only one driver was shown, so I selected it and clicked "Next". Windows warned me that it could not confirm that the driver was compatible with my hardware, but I installed it anyway and the "Line in" began working immediately. Hope this helps someone.

I have been seeing a few posts about the Fall Creator update and the various problems or no problems. Mine was that I had updated to W10Pro so I could use whatever drivers I wanted to. But with the first Creator update I couldn't install any NVidia drivers older than the 370 series, then with the Fall update I couldn't install any drivers older than the 380 series. Today I remembered a post about disabling Real Time Protection in Malwarebytes if you are having problems running games, freezing, stuttering, etc. Tried installing older drivers with it disabled and it worked. Really regretting buying Malwarebytes Pro now. It was fine when it wasn't trying to do everything. It sucks at anything other than malware.

What my heading says: I rolled back from the Creator's Update, reason being, after I updated today, the OS played havoc with storage settings on my PC (HP Envy Phoenix).
Basically, it made *all* storage, whether the internal hard drive, or when connecting a USB flash drive, be write-protected, and no amount of command prompt fixes worked.
So, for now, rolled back until there's a bug fix.

Hi, all.

I've had no problems with updates on my Toshiba L50-C laptop until trying to install version 1709.

The update wouldn't download last night, so I shut down and ran the WU troubleshooter this morning. Then it downloaded, but got stuck 'preparing to install' at 85 or 86%. So I ran the troubleshooter again.

This time it downloaded, and hung at 100% preparing to install...and then the download started again.

I've reset Windows Update using the instructions I found here, and this has been the current state of play for the last half an hour.

Please bear in mind when offering solutions that I am not very technical at all, and freak out easily. I would appreciate simple instructions on how I can fix this, whether that involves getting version 1709 or not.

Thanks,

Casey

Answer:Fall Creator's Update refuses to install

Hi, please post a screenshot using Minitool Partition Wizard (download, install), expand columns where necessary to make text visible and post a screenshot.
To post a screenshot please use the Insert Image icon above your post to the left of the video icon. Then Browse to your image, select it and upload it. E.g. png, jpg. Thanks.

Before upgrading - which is a significant process- it would be wise to create a disk image of your existing Windows, so if something goes badly wrong you have a way back. You can do that using Macrium reflect (free) (option Backup Windows)+ an external disk to store disk images
(We strongly recommend the routine use of disk imaging- lets you restore your PC even if your disk fails and you need a new one).

When upgrading please
- disable any AV
- disconnect any unnecessary peripherals
- make sure you have at least 500Mb of unallocated space on your system disk
- ideally 20Gb or more free space on C:

You may prefer to attempt the upgrade manually - i.e. download the iso file, then start the upgrade:
Download Windows 10 ISO File

Just means that the .exe's are associated with some other program. Go to Default Programs in the Control panel and reset that app setting. FCU had nothing to do with this.

Thanks up in advance for ANY help - I'm running out of ideas... I'm having an issue where some websites load just fine and others do not. I'm using x64 Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (which updated and installed (I believe) without issues; along with subsequent updates have installed without error). After the update the Mixed Reality headset I purchased worked fine (although some things still lagging and jumpy) BUT when simply browsing some websites, like cnet, craigslist, etc... will NOT load...?... Same on all browsers; tried clearing cache and flushing DNS; tried turning off Firewall, changing security level and even creating a whitelist rule, but no joy... I can ping each and get an instantaneous response with resolved IP, and tracert also ends by successfully reaching its destination, while the sites still continue to ERR_TIMED_OUT. ....???? All other devices (ios, android and windows) on the same network load these same pages without any problems, just this computer... I bought this AW 17 R4 7th gen i7, 16gb with 1070 'powerhouse' that can't even browse the web... (btw I made sure all my drivers were up to date, according to Dell anyways). Someone else mentioned changing the DNS that didn't work either; but since the IP resolves quickly, pretty sure it's not a DNS issue. Someone else got theirs working by rolling back or a fresh install of windows; but I don't want to do that since the purpose was for Mixed Reality... THANKS again for any ideas anyone might have...

Answer:Problem loading some websites after Win 10 Fall Creator update

Hi, so first of all welcome to the forums :) 2nd. Please refrain from creating multiple threads regarding the same issue. If someone has the answer, they'll most likely help or at least try to.
Ultimately I would recommend a refresh of your current build, but you seem to want a different solution. I can't guarantee that it would work, but it is worth a shot?

Macrium 7 (free) problem since Fall Creator's Update.

I have (Paid) V6. I downloaded the free V7 to check it out, before the Fall Creator's update and the first time I booted Win 10 I got a popup message from "Win Patrol" that I had a new Macrium startup program and option to allow or disallow . I checked allow and all was OK. Since the Fall Creator's Upgrade every time I boot Win 10 I would get the message from "Win Patrol" about a new Macrium startup program and I have to check whether its OK. First time I checked "allow". Second time I booted Win 10 it did the same thing and I checked "allow". Third time same thing. Fourth time I said "disallow" and uninstalled Macrium 7 and went back to V6. No more startup program problems and V6 works the same as V7 for my purposes.

Pretty much what the title says, so I found this http://www.thewindowsclub.com/rollba...reators-update that says all I got to do is click restore Win 10 which I did and it's telling me that I need to remove an account before I can do that, here's the kicker the account is my Admin account "custom"

see what the update did was take my old custom account and leave it and create a new one just adding a desktop name to it, as well as rename the old windows to old.windows, but Accounts only shows the old name, and it's Admin so I can't removed it, what a mess, it seems the only way I can restore my settings etc is to copy everything from the old custom to my new custom, or try to change back the old name of of the user folder in Safemode, but would that even work? What a royal PITA, is there anything else I can do? Should I avoid future 10 updates? The last one didn't screw things up like this one did.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

I do not know if others have come across this problem, but it seems that remove-appxpackage no longer works to remove the UWP downloaded by the system.

The command runs thru with its usual error message about being unable to remove some, but these aren't in that list.
Also get-appxpackage -allusers | remove-appxpackage no longer seems to work. Or at least it doesnt remove the apps from all users any longer.

Ok, since the 1709 update my screen turns off after 3 minutes. No matter what. No matter what my screen setting or sleep setting is at. A billion minutes or Never. Screen shuts off in 3 minutes with the lid up. The pc doesn't go to sleep, just the screen turns off. I've disable/re-enabled, uninstalled/re-installed my display driver and no change. If I disable or uninstall the display driver (Intel HD Graphic 5300) and leave it unabled/uninstalled it doesn't turn off after 3 minutes. Once I re-enable or re-install the driver it's back to the 3 minute shut off. The driver won't update (says there is none). Hybernation is disabled.

Anyone have this issue or a fix? TIA.

About every 2 seconds my cursor will freeze in place for a second and snap to where it's supposed to be. programs do the same thing; while loading they will pause, then snap to where they should have been at that time. I've tried fresh restoring windows and that didn't do anything. I've looked all over for people having similar issues and couldn't seem to find anything other than the Fall Update ruining other things unrelated to my issue. The problem is so bad it virtually renders my PC useless, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I started experiencing issues with my PC after the the FCU and would like to download the previous version to perform a clean boot.
Issues:
The server list in BF4 & BF1 displays all the pings as the same number - unsolved.
Edge is slow to respond, followed by crashing constantly - solved by not using it.
When my PC first starts, the LG Ultrawide monitor brightness is fine, but when I login it goes way too dark. Solved - I uninstalled LG's drive and that seemed to fix the problem.
Unfortunately I didn't realize my PC received a major update so I downloaded Win 10 and did a clean install thinking that would fix it...nope.
I can't find a way to download anything except the FCU. Is there a way to clean boot to the previous version? It needs to be from Microsoft's website of course - not a website offering a copy.

Originally, I updated to the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update using Windows Update except after Windows 10 Fall Creators Update was running, the Phone aka CommsPhone app is not installed properly as basically it is showing up as
ms-resource:AppListName in the Start Menu and when I click on it, it opens with a white box with just a menu bar that says Phone and then exits. I have tried going into Apps and Features and then selecting Advanced options under the Phone app and then Resetting the data.

I have also tried doing the following in a elevated PowerShell with no success which results in the same problem:

Code:
Get-appxpackage -allusers *BingNews* | Remove-AppxPackage
Get-AppxPackage -allusers *BingNews* | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register ?$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml?}

I did a restore of the previous Windows 10 version so basically it restarted to the point where it is supposed to update to Fall Creators Update except it shows the update as pending after restart, ofcourse it just boots into Windows and Windows Update shows it has the latest updates with the Fall Creators Update pending after restart so I made sure the Phone app was working and then I basically did a install using the ISO instead and just like before, it installed successfully and everything is working and Phone basically has the same problem. Does anyone know what else I can do to fix this or is Phone even a working app in Windows 10 because in the store, it... Read more

I got the Fall Creator?s update recently, and it somehow broke Windows? indexing of programs. I'm currently on Winver: 1709 (OS Build 16299.64).

Before the problem:
Windows 10/drive C: is installed on a 250GB SSD, but most programs are installed on a conventional 640 GB hard drive, D:.
This worked perfectly fine, as one could expect, so no specific weird things.

The problem:
Since the Fall Creator?s update, Windows somehow figured that all my programs are installed on C:. This has lead to the following 4 issues, which I presume all stem from the same problem:
On the desktop, all shortcuts of programs on D: were changed to the same folder on C: (which doesn?t exist), and the original shortcut was copied to the desktop as well appending ?(1)?.
In the start menu, basically the same thing happened as on the desktop. Duplicates of shortcuts appeared, pointing to the actual location, while the original shortcut is changed to C:In the list of all installed programs, all programs are indeed present, but those installed on D: are missing an icon, and can?t be uninstalled ? instead it gives an error that ?C:\Program Files\Program_Name\uninstall.exe? can?t be found (because it doesn?t exist on C: )
All default programs are broken, as it presents programs from D: as if they were located on C: in the proposed list (meaning they won?t work). When choosing ?look for another app on this PC?, and choosing the correct program, it doesn?t remember that choice. This is confirmed in the 'Def... Read more

Hi,

Ever since the fall creator's update, whenever I come back from an extended period of time to my computer (like when I get to the office in the morning), Outlook notifications with the chime sound pop up in the lower right corner for every e-mail I received since I had been gone. Is there any way to fix this? IIRC, didn't it just give you one notification before telling you you got 100 e-mails (or however many you got)?

According to this article, MS are claiming Files on Demand is being introduced in a staggered rollout.

Frankly, (imo) this has a strong bodily odour and they are not admitting they screwed up.

Update: A spokesman for Microsoft said that the File On-Demand feature of OneDrive is having a staggered rollout. "In order for Files On-Demand to be enabled, you need to be on Windows Fall Creators Update and OneDrive version 17.3.7064.1005 or later. I have Lenovo G500s laptop which is trying to update. It is in a loop as it:
1. Reboot to start the update
2. After about 25%, it reboots during the update
3. During the reboot (maybe 15 seconds into reboot), screen flashes, and screen saids reverting to previous version
This cycle will repeat itself.
Using Windows Media tool and USB, I try to do the update.
The error code is: 0x80070057, 0x2000A
The installation failed in SAFE_OS phase with an error during PREPARE_FIRST_BOOT operation.

Hi folks,

I recently updated our accounts computer which was running W10 Creator Edition. We use Quicken 2004R2 UK Version (last version ever for UK).

I installed the Fall Creator Update in early December and all seemed OK.

I only discovered yesterday that the Print Dialogs for Quicken just plain wouldn't display, and of course the possiblility to roll back is now past.

Much digging later I discovered that using "Run as Administrator" allowed it to behave correctly. I would much prefer not to have to do that.

So I've two questions:
What has MS done to mess this up and is there any hope they will fix it?Is there any way short of a clean reinstall to get back the Creator Edition level?

FWIW the software in question can be downloaded from:

Hey there,
I just watched Zac Bowden's walkthrough of the Windows 10 Fall Creator's update hoping I could find an answer to this concept screenshot:
This "white accent color" on the taskbar is something that Windows 10 users have been requesting for years with no possible solution. That is, until this concept screenshot above emerged for less than two seconds in the Fluent Design System concept video.
Apparently, Microsoft went for a strange solution to this request. Instead of giving the users the option to select #FFFFFF as an accent color, they seem to have added it as an "Invert" color filter in the ease of access settings panel (as per Zac's video).
As you can see, this color filter produces an undesired effect: the colors on Daniel Rubino's pinned MyPeople face have been inverted (lower right corner). This induced effect is unnatural for those who desire just a white accent color.
So, I guess it is back to the drawing board for the white accent color concept. Or, there could be a workaround. Who knows?

I went to Lenovo?s support website and found numerous drivers definetly newer then my installed one. Any ideas where the problem is? (I don?t want to download and install all of them individually?)

Hey there,
With the introduction of the new Action Center, Microsoft has brought back a subtle, but important feature that hasn't been seen since 10240. In the days of 10240, where the Mail & Calendar notifications were sporadic at best, I used a program called POP Peeper that provided real-time notifications from email accounts. This worked because 10240 allowed non-UWP app notifications to persist in the Action Center. After Build 10586 was released, this feature was scrapped, until now. This feature is important because it provides an equal ground for people who don't want to use UWP apps, but want to receive the same notifications. The re-addition of this feature may be an accidental consequence on Microsoft's part, so it may be scrapped again during the next build. So, enjoy the persistent notifications while you can.

@All: I am going to get a new T420s in a few days and since I have never owned a TP, I have a couple of questions for more experienced users. I apologize in advance if the questions sound silly, but I am wondering whether Win Update and Lenovo System Update may get in each other's way and mess things up in the system by overwriting drivers, or do they have nothing to do with each other? Also, what about the power management settings? I hear that Lenovo is quite rich in that, so I am wondering whether these can conflict with Windows7 settings and in case which ones should I prefer and how to bypass the other ones? Thanks a zillion.

win. update handles wins. & TVSU handles system software updates & a few win. updates so you need both, TVPM will override win power settings so if you want to use win. just uninstall TVPM but I think TVPM does the job just fine afterall its built for the system

Last week I had to get my computer reformated and windows update seemed fine. I have Windows XP Pro and it's just the bast few days I've had problems. My updater keeps alerting me to three files I need installing. Two are 'Update for Windows XP' and one is a 'Security Update for Windows XP' I click install and it goes through the process and says all three are done and installed fine. I get no errors or anything, but then as soon as it goes away, the yellow shield pops up again and says I have the same three items needing to be installed.

I've tried updating at least three times now and each time it says it was successful only for it to pop up again. I've even written the KB numbers that are written after it down and it's the same thing each time. I've tried rebooting and then doing it but that hasn't done anything either. I didn't have this problem with any of the previous updates and I'm not sure what to do now.

Hi Corvinus and Welcome to Bleeping Computer. Click Start/ All Programs/ select Windows Update. It will link you to the Windows update website and show updates needed.Select Update History in the left hand window of your screen on this site. This will show all updates, which ones failed and why.You are probably missing previous critical updates and may have to go back and get those updates, then the Windows XP SP2 will work properly. Follow the restart prompts in between each update as instructed until they are all done. It will take a while, but you'll be back in business and running soothly in no time.

I was installing the Windows 10 Creator Update (see reddit.com/r/windows) using the official ISO file as well as the Media Creating Tool downloaded from Microsoft website, but then it failed with error code 0xC1900101-0x20017 with a message :"The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation". The update stuck at the booting splash screen, no hard disk activity, nothing moves. Tried a few times and tried different ways to install it, but nothing worked. I have enough space to install the update and the machine is having Ubuntu 16.04 as well as a recovery software on the system alongside Windows 10. No idea what is wrong. I was suspect BIOS or drivers for this issue. Does anyone encounter this problem?

A brand new Q190 supplied with Windows 8.1 constantly pops up a message saying "ThinkVantage System Update Not Installed".  There is no such software listed under support for this model.  There is no explanation of this software anywhere on Lenovo's website, but the message is generated by Lenovo's installed system maintenanace software supplied on the system.A box labeled "fix it" is displayed, and shows only a message to visit Lenovo's website, which is useless. If there is no such software there should at least be a way to turn off these messages interfering with use of the computer.  No such option can be found. .

Allright, I've been banging my head all morning on this wonderful monday mystery. We have got T460s i5 6200u specced machines for our clients that typically need docks, either the Pro or Ultra's.  We have had no issues with monitor output on the docks with Windows 10 enterprise 64bit with Anniversary. However, we are now starting to roll out our the imagages on the T460s laptops with  KMS server Enterprise Windows 10 with Creator Update. Since then, I have not been able to get any new T460s to reliably output via VGA, Displayport or DVI through an ultra or pro dock.  With the laptop lid closed and with full power running, and just the LCD laptop screen off, the docks refused to output to any monitor. Only when you slightly open the lid will the monitor output on the docks "wake up" finally up.  Monitor output does work if you have the laptop lid open when docking but neither are a real good solution The lenovo update has been run and  everything is updated included dock firmware.  I've disabled sleep mode just to make this easier with docking and undocking

Sounds normal to me. Since all of your Windows Updates are up to date, there aren't updates to restart to.
Next week the first Tuesday of the month will probably have cumulative updates as well as other updates available sometime during the week and when the computer is ready to download and then install them you should see the option to update and restart shown again.

What kind of trouble are you having downloading the link from Microsoft?
I deleted the link because it's not a good idea to download the link from a third party when Microsoft itself publishes the files. It's extremely difficult to know for sure if any third party is adding malware or something else into the files.

Hi,

Since the update, Microsoft is pushing strange Update Packages to me. Before the Update, everything was fine, now the Text says i.e.:
for AMD64 based systems KB4051963

but what the heck, I do have a x64 based system (Intel).

I don't now now if it is just the text what is wrong or if MS is really pushing wrong Update packages onto my computer.

Anyone having a similar issue?

Answer:Since Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (1709) - Update Packages weird

It’s OK, it’s just the way MS have worded the update. It’s fine to download & install.
amd64 based is just meaning that it is x64 based windows instead of x86 (32 bit). AMD owns the IP for 64-bit processes that we all use. Doesn't matter if it is AMD or INTEL .

Answer:Anyone else that hasn't received Fall Creators Update yet via Windows Update?

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update phased rollout approach - Windows Experience Blog

You better wait

The company recommends users to wait for the Fall Creators Update to be offered via Windows Update, though there?s no estimate as to how much this wait could last as it all depends on the number of bugs and issues that the company finds in the new OS version.Click to expand...

You might not have been offered the upgrade, because of the software/hardware you have. Like AMD causing black screen during boot.

Hi there, I have a T460s and when running Lenovo System Update, there are a couple of updates that are suggested, but I have that version already installed. Is this a bug in the System Update application? Examples:Lenovo Power Management Driver - 10 [32,64]It shows:Version: 1.67.12.16 Installed Version: 1.67.12.16 If I try to install it, after successful installation next time System Update runs it again suggests to install this "update". Similarly under Optional updates it showsRealtek Audio Driver - 10 [64]Version: 6.0.1.7898However when I look up the details and check which version I currently have, it is exactly the same version. And also here if I try to install the update, next time System Update again suggests I have this update available. I find this all a bit strange. Thanks,Jorik

Minor problems, (or annoyances), after installing.
1 problem remains, I play dominoes on playdrift, after update of creator now all the dominoes flash when they move, very annoying, game plays correctly.
Did update change something causing this, did edge change something.
The flashing at every domino move is annoying.

Hello, I got moms laptop for repair, and found one problem. I can't install 6 updates, one of them is that Windows 10 one. Windows update gives me error 80070BC9. I already tried sfc /scannow, even on boot, it threw "unfixable" errors on me too.
Any help? (Windows 8.1)
Thanks!

P.S.: I tried to put CBS.log here, but I can't, don't know why.

Answer:Windows Update shows error 80070BC9, updates fails

Please post the KB{number} list of the updates you are trying to install.
Please upload the cbs.log file located at [windows partition]\windows\logs\cbs\ ,this log might have information about the problem + use this command
Code:
findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log > "%userprofiel%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt"

after sfc/scannow is finished.
The sfcdetails.txt file shows what sfc could not fix.

Just did a fresh install of Window XP. Went to Windows Update to get current and scan came back clean- nothing needed, not even sp2- NO WAY! I must need a ton of updates, patches, etc- how do I determine what I need in order to get current when MS's own scan says I don't need anything?

Any help would be appreciated!
thanks

My Windows Update keeps referring me to an 'Important' update that needs to be installed, but every time I try to install it it fails with the failure code 733F.
The actual file is Security Update for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 (KB948109)

Has anyone had this problem and please tell me how to repair it so I can download thi update.

Regards,

Swanee
