Yoga S1 digitizer pen stopped working

Question: Yoga S1 digitizer pen stopped working

Have had a Thinkpad Yoga S1 for several years and last week the pen stopped working. I reinstalled the drivers and that didn't help. Yesterday it started working again, but today it stopped again. I ordered a new digitizer pen thinking it might be the pen, but the new one doesn't work either. The touchscreen still work fine and I can write with my finger. Any idea what the problem my be?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi I hope someone can help me. I have had my S1 for about 10 months now and i have had no issues with the pen and using it. I used the pen last weekend in lectures, taking notes with no issues or problems and have gone to use it today, as part of my assignment, and it just isn't working at all. It doesn't matter if its in laptop, tent or tablet mode, i get no resposne from the pen at all. I have had a look in the device manager and have no issue notifications, but likewise, i can't locate anythingthat i think looks like the digital pen drivers (nothing Wacom in there). I have searched around the forums and o-line and can't seem to find anything that might help me. Have even searched, without finding, how to unistall and re-install the Wacom drivers. If anyone has any suggestions on how to diagnose and resolve this problem i would be really happy to receive them. many thanks for your help Chris

Today my digitizer stopped working for the first time since I purchased my Thinkpad Yoga several years ago. Touch screen still works as normal. I don't think it's software related because I dual boot Windows and Ubuntu and it doesn't work in either operating system. Before it would work in both operating systems, and I haven't had any updates since it was last working. Is it possible for the digitizer itself to be broken somehow? I haven't dropped the device or spilled any liquid on it. I've read elsewhere on the forum that the digitizer is powered by a capacitor that is charged within the laptop. Is this still true for Thinkpad Yogas? Are there steps I can take to diagnose the issue?

Hello. Here is my problem, I searched the net for a solution, haven't found.I have a Lenovo X60, model 6366 - with both capative touchscreen and digitizer pen. I worked fine until recently when I have to apply extreme pressure to hear the sound for touching - both touchscreen and digitizer pen.I had installed some of the recommended drivers from the Lenovo support center - for example, the multitouch driver (which didn't work). What is strange is that everything worked fine until recently; maybe it has something to do with the hinge problem - the hinge became very loose (I suspect someone dropped my computer), now I searching for a way to open and tighten it.Details:- I am running Windows 7 32-bit;- the digitizer worked well - even holding the pen over the screen (hovering, not touching) moved the pointer;- the touchscreen worked too - with a bit of pressure, but a reasonable amout of it, I could use my computer;- after I ran TuneUp 2013 StartUp Manager it disabled "Tablet Shortcut Menu", "Tablet Button" and "TSMResident" and the buttons on the screen stopped working - for example, I cannot change the orientation of the screen; I reenabled the programs, tried running the exe-files, but the buttons do not work anymore;- I have never succeeded to make multitouch work (the latest Wacom drivers - ISD_DualTouch_710-8 - made Windows say I have no touchscreen and no digitizer devices...); pressure sensitivity never worked too; a very nice diagnostics tool showed this (now it say... Answer:X60 - touchscreen and digitizer stopped working

Hi, vader11111

Your suspicion of possible damage to your machine could be correct, but there are a few other updates/changes that you might be able to try to see if that solves/helps your issue.

You've updated the drivers, but have you updated the BIOS? The BIOS being up to date can sometimes help several issues. You can also check the drivers on the support site to make sure you have the latest drivers. I know you've updated them from Lenovo Support Center, but I always recommend people to check the support website just to make sure. You can find the drivers and BIOS updates for your machine here. You can filter the results by searching the types of drivers you are seeking in the first dropdown box and Windows 7 in the second box.

Hope it helps, and let me know how it goes,
Adam

Other than routine updates, I have done no major downloads, restores or changes to my ThinkPad Yoga and suddenly the pen is completely unresponsive. As a digital painter this is incredibly frustrating. I have NO IDEA where to begin trouble shooting this problem. Please HALP.

Hello, I just received my new shiny TPY (again). The first time I got it, the digitizer wasn't working. After a bit of research I realized that it probably was a hardware issue (No digitizer, pen or wacom device in device-manager). So I send it back. The mainboard got replaced and today I have my machine back. It was all working fine including the digitizer. But from one minute to the other it stopped working and I can't find any wacom or digitizer devices in the device-manager.Now my first thought was, that the Windows updates messed something up, so I've done a rollback but it's still not working.Am I doing something wrong or is it a hardware issue again? Thanks for advance.Robinhuett

Answer:ThinkPad Yoga - Digitizer is not working

Hello. It isn't a Hardware Problem. It seems to be a software problem after Windows 8.1 Update. I have the same problem :-( When I start the PC it works perfect, until I used it as Tablet. After that the Digitizer Pen didn't work. So I reinstalled all drivers. After that the pen worked.. so I tested it again as Tablet, after that. the Digitizer Pen didn't work. Now I installed all drivers again but the Pen didn't worked. It is a big problem at Lenovo, because Lenovo has problems with the pen software a long time. It is soooo sad because I love the Thinkpad Yoga but with this Problem the price isn't acceptable. So I am going to send it back and wait for the Surface Pro 3. Because Thinkpad stands for the perfect Business Notebook and now... Lenovo has with the digitizer pen more problems than all others. And this is very sad :-(

Hey Guys I'm stumped. I just did my yearly refreash of the operating system. Reinstall Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit. When I first install everything it works just fine but then it looks like either windows update or lenovo software update attempts to update the digitizer driver and the pen starts to act like a mouse. The tablet is mutlitouch and those functions are not effected just the digitizer. If I reinstall again the same thing happens. I am not sure of where to get the correct drivers as it appears that Lenovo doesn't have them. What do you guys think.

Answer:X201T Digitizer Driver stopped working

Yes, I ran a system update last night (which installed "multi touch" and "nav point" drivers) and I woke up today to find my computer no longer recognizes pen nor touch input.  This is a huge problem -- is Lenovo aware of this? EDIT: I also installed a generic Windows update, which installed "Wacom Two Finger Touch" drivers.  I did them both at the same time so I'm not sure which update was responsible for breaking touch.  On the Computer -> Properties screen, it states that this display does not accept pen or touch input.

I just got a brand new Yoga 12, and it has the integrated stylus in the laptop. When i first set it up, I was able to use the stylus to hand write in a program like one note. Let's say I close my laptop, and walk to a different room, when I open it back up from sleep mode, touch screen still works, but the computer doesn't respond at all to the stylus. No handwriting support, no touch support with the pen, only my capactive fingers. I find this very odd, and it works when I restart, but this seems to be a common issue with my peers who have Yoga 12's as well. Is there a fix for this? my wacom drivers are up to date, not sure if I should buy another stylus if this issue is recurring or not.

I have a problem where the digitizer pen interittently stops working on the yoga S1 - win8.1 x64 with all updates applied.I can re-create the issue by folding the screen from normal mode to  tablet mode, then normal mode , then tablet mode. At this point, the pen susually stops working. I can get it to come back to life sometimes if i wait a minute, or if i go to power settings and apply / un apply something or by restart. It sounds like a driver issue to me - and possiby power management drivers - triggered by swithcing to tablet mode.I have tried max perfromance, min power savings etc to stop the screen driver being starved of power, have disabled sleep and hibernation. Done multiple driver re-installs, but no difference. Sometimes restarting the drivers relating to the pen and touch screen bring it back to life. But it should not die in the first place. Anyone else have this or do i have a hardware issue?

I am using the USB-C port on my Yoga 900-13ISK (Windows 10) to connect to an external monitor. Everything worked fine until this morning for some unexplicable reason the USB-C port stopped sending signal. When I plug in the USB-C adapter (converting to DP) my screen starts and then gives me a message "no signal". I get the same error when trying to connect via another converter to HDMI. Both adapters and cables worked before. I updated my graphics card drivers and of course am extending displays. Any ideas what might cause this problem and how to fix it? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Answer:Yoga 900 USB-C stopped working

I have a parrot and she's jumped on the keyboard, hitting the key that cycles between laptop display, external display and "both." Yeah, that took me a while to figure out why I couldn't get it to work properly.

The other thing I'd do is try the cable with a different source, such as a PC.

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Can you try to Unplug it frist from the AC power.
Hold the Power Button down fo at least 15 secs.
then plug it back in and turn it on.

If still does not work.
Check the Cables of the Ac power,
     Try other Power Outlet.
If pssible have the AC Adapter checked via local tech.

If those returned negative,
I would suggest you call Technical Support for Hardware assistance since I believe the system is still within warranty period.

Uninstall the synaptic driver and try running the generic driver (which is installed automatically upon reboot). If it works, then you know it is a diver issue.

I've been using my 260 for a couple months now and generally have been pleased with it.  Unfortunately, the stylus stopped working while I was using it yesterday and I'm trying to figure out what's gone wrong. I suspect the internal capacitor is no longer charging, but I'm unsure how to check.  If it is a charging issue, is it possible that it's an OS driver issue?  A few weeks ago I changed my OS from Windows 10 to Ubuntu and if the stylus has a very impressive battery life it's possible it's just finally worn out, but I find it odd that this would be OS dependent, as doesn't the stylus charge even if the PC is off? If anyone can shed some light on this issue, it would be much appreciated.  Google has failed to provide me any helpful information and I'd really like to avoid reinstalling Windows 10 just to see if it starts charging my stylus - especially if it doesn't help!

I'm hoping someone can help me with the audio problem on my notebook. After owning my Yoga for about 2 months, the audio stopped working.  I don't know exactly when it stopped, I don't recall that it stopped directly after a windows update or anything like that.  I am using the factory loaded Windows 10.  The speaker icon in the task bar has a small red X on it.  When I click the icon Windows goes through a troubleshooting process and tells me it found a fix and asks me to click the button to apply the fix and then restart, but the problem persists.  If I right click and choose playback devices, the only two things that show up are my bluetooth speaker - nothing related to the internal audio.  If I go into device manager, under "other devices" there are two entries for "Intel High Definition Audio."  Previously there was one entry, I don't know when the second shows up.  If I right click and select update driver, windows does a search online but does not find an update. I have also gone to the Lenovo site and downloaded and installed the audio driver listed there but the problem continues. I took it into geek squad since I purchased it at Best Buy, and the guy looked at it for a couple minutes and told me it's a hardware problem and it will need to be sent in for repair. Any thoughs?  Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Two-finger scrolling has suddenly stopped working on my Yoga 710. A reboot hasn't worked. Two-finger zoom still works, but when I try to scroll it malfunctions. Pulling two fingers down on the touchpad minimises the window. Pushing two fingers up takes me to miniature view of all my open windows. Very occasionally it will scroll slightly in one direction but not the other, but I can't get it to happen often enough to work out why it works occasionally. What is going wrong? EDIT: It now seems that the zoom is a bit finicky too. It works much of the time when I try to enlarge or shrink Facebook in my browser, but not all the time.

Hi, I just bought a ThinkPad Yoga 460 and I have a strange problem. The internal keyboard does not work any more across operating systems, so this isn't software specific. However, the keyboard *does* work in the beginning a cold start until the operating system boots - I can enter the BIOS settings, navigate around there, I can enter the onboard diagnostics utility, everything works fine - until an operating system boots. If I just reboot without turning the computer off, the internal keyboard doesn't work. I even restored factory settings, so I am writing this from an Ubuntu Live USB with an external keyboard until I have figured out how to restore EFI, but the keyboard still isn't working. The problem occured after a long time of using only the external keyboard, so I can't exactly tell what I was doing when it happened. I'm guessing it has to do with the rotation sensor being stuck, but what would be the point of disabling the keyboard if it's physically impossible to press any buttons in tablet mode... Also, the touch pad keeps working anyway. I removed Windows from the laptop and I don't think there'd be an easy way to get it back, so I hope any solutions would work on Linux too. Best regards,Malte

Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga S1, Windows 8.1The touchscreen stopped working, although the pen works. How can I fix it?

Answer:Touchscreen stopped working, ThinkPad Yoga

I have the same issue.  This first occurred back in May or June when it all of a sudden stopped responding to touch.  Additionally, the auto-rotation was disabled as well as the trackpad lock when the screen is bent all the way back.  I finally got around to sending it in last week and earlier this week I got it back with a factory image loaded onto the machine.  After booting up, the touchscreen was working perfectly fine as was the auto-rotation and trackpad lock.  I then proceeded to start installing Windows updates and after the last installation, I discovered that the screen had become unresponsive again!  To me, this indicates that some update had disabled the screen and indeed, under Device Manager, the HID-compliant touch screen is noted as being disconnected.  I'm not entirely sure how to reconnect the screen, so if anybody has suggestions that would be appreciated. On a separate note, I called Lenovo software support and after explaining the situation to the technician on the phone, he then told me that I would have to buy software warranty for them to fix it.  This is ridiculous!  Why should I have to pay Lenovo to fix a problem that stems from a probable incompatibiity of their own software/drivers with Windows updates?  And after I complained about this hypocrisy, he even had the gall to suggest to me to talk with a "computer-savvy friend" who might be able to help.  I spent a lot of money on this machin... While working with the computer, the connected external monitor and the laptop screen both went dark and I couldn't revive them by disconnecting/reconnecting any cables or by pressing any keys on the laptop. In the end, I had to force a hard restart of the Yoga 920 by pressing the power button on the right. After rebooting the laptop, I noticed that it completely failed to communicate with any devices connected to the USB-C port, including my external monitor, keyboard, mouse and Ethernet network. First suspecting an issue with the connected USB-C hub (Kensington USB-C Universal Dock 60W (SD4600P)), I performed a full power recycle, including detaching/attaching cables, of all involved components. This had no result. I noticed then in the Windows 10 Device Manager (devmgmt.msc), that the USB device "UCSI USB Connector Manager" was marked as not working (yellow exclamation mark). The status of the device was:This device cannot start. (Code 10) STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE Disabling/removing/reinstalling this device in Windows 10 had no effect on the issue. Then I noticed that the laptop didn't charge while connected to the power supply from Lenovo, which was delivered with the laptop. There are two USB-C ports on the left side of the laptop. The one towards the back is marked as the one to use for charging. It didn't work any more. I had to connect the USB-C cable from th... Two weeks ago I bought a Yoga 720 and it has worked fine (including the fingerprint scanner). Three days ago it just stopped working. Now the Windows Hello says that my device doesn't support that feature. In the device manager it indicates that the Windows can't load the driver (Code 31?). I have been trying to reload the drivers for the fingerprint scanner from Lenovo without success. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,I have a 6 month old Yoga 3 13 and it has upgraded to Win10 some time ago, the laptop is mint and has been handled very carefully as it cost me 1000 and looks delicate.  Has been fine, until:-I was watching a film one evening via Lovefilm from Amazon, the battery went flat, so I put it on charge.  When I came to use it the next afternoon, when I turned it on, the screen did not work, and has not since, I have an external VDU attached and the machine appears to work normally other than the screen.  The touch does appear to be responding as the curser will jump to trhe laptop if I touch the screen when the curser is on the external monitor.  I have just tried booting a USB drive OS and the result was the same, which should rule out a driver problem.I have tried the Contact us link to try to arrange a repair or replacement but the link does not work.  Please can someone advise on how to sort this issue ? Thanks. :-/

WIDI or Miracast stopped working properly after I got my screen replaced by Lenovo warranty repair.Prior to the repair, I had no issues with connecting to my smart TV (samsung UN55F6400) I got the latest drivers for the Intel HD Graphics 4000 and RTL8723AU wireless adapter, but still no go. What happens:I can add a new device and mirror my screen, but after I disconnect, the next time I try to connect it says "Tap to fix the connection", then I have to set it up again as a new connection. It used to work flawlessly before so not sure what changed. Anyone else have any issues or successes? If it works for you, can you post your driver versions for the graphics and wireless adapter?

Hello, my Lenovo yoga 13 display is broken (just digitizer, not the whole display, LCD and everything other inside is ok) and I'm looking for new. On ebay and other public stores, I found only whole display or lot of digitizers for yoga 11 but not for 13. Is there another way how to get new digitizer without buying the whole display? On repair service, they want 11 000 CZK (about 650$) for replacement but they want to replace the whole display, which is not necessary in my case. Thanks to all for reply

Question: Yoga 910 Digitizer

I bought a Yoga 910, as I found out, it doesn't support active pens.  I see on a few sites they sell the display assembly.  https://www.amazon.com/910-14IKB-910-14ISK-Digitizer-Display-Assembly/dp/B071JV7R17 I wanted to know are these screens legit?  It was marketed without active support, but do they sell the screens with the digitizers in them seperately now?

Answer:Yoga 910 Digitizer

That just looks like a replacement screen for the 910, no different to the one that comes with the laptop - it doesn't have a pen digitizer.

Just to be clear, this is the laptop that I have. I need a pen for it. Any pen at all. Does one exist? Every single pen I've found, people say it doesn't work with this specific laptop. I have friends with lenovo laptops and I've tried their pens on mine and it doesn't work. My finger works fine, but I can't take notes in class like that. I have a pen that works on my iPad, but I don't really like it. I tried it on the Yoga, and it did work, but it was downright terrible. It only picked up about half the time. Lenovo has a thinkpad yoga pen on their website, but I'm quite positive that won't work with this model. So is there anywhere I can a suitable pen? Thanks.

Answer:Yoga 3 14 Digitizer Pen

The yoga 3 14 does NOT have a digitizer layer under the LCD panel. Which means NO digitizer pen will ever work with it. Trust me, im typing from my yoga 3 14 now. The 14" Thinkpad yoga does however suppport pen input. Your only option for a pen is one of those capacative pens with a rubber tip.

This seems to happen whenever a Windows update goes out, and I have to wait for Lenovo to provide firmware/bios/driver updates that fix the problem.  I have to say that this recurring bad experience will weigh heavily into my next purchasing decision.  I paid a lot extra for a touchscreen that breaks with every Windows update, and the wait for a fix is often quite long. What is the ETA for this next round of fixes from Lenovo?

I purchased a Yoga 2 13 (SN: CB29722715) laptop from US with IWS. Some time back various keys on the laptop stopped working, including Ctrl, 1, 3, 5, and others, making it useless unless you also carry another laptop around. I took it to the repair center in Allahabad, India, but the service center returned it saying that the parts are not available in India. Surely there must be a way to obtain these parts? I've tried to contact Lenovo support on chat and phone, but all they can tell me is to take it to the service center. I finally got in touch with a senior tech support person, who informed via email that the parts required were FRU 25215052 and FRU 25215053, but again, I was informed that these parts were not available with Lenovo (anywhere??) and have not heard anything further since (this was two days ago). Is the IWS completely useless in this case? Is there anything I can do apart from junking the laptop?

My Yoga 13 (Windows 8.1) ran its Windows update and restart last night. Once it did that, the keyboard does not work anymore. I can use the on screen keyboard, but the physical keyboard is completely unresponsive...absolutely nothing works on it. I've rebooted a handful of times...and still nothing.Interesting, over the last couple of weeks, the on screen keyboard would pop up at random times. I wonder if Windows or Lenovo's attempt to fix that caused this new issue with the physical keyboard. Anyone having the same problems?

Hello, I got my ThinkPad Yoga 15 about 2 weeks ago and all of a sudden the touchscreen stopped working today, so I rebooted but nothing happened. Windows doesn't recognize the Touchscreen HID Device anymore and reinstalling doesn't help. I think it's a hardware fault as the bottom middle of the screen heats up shortly after booting and the head spreads around the bottom half of the display (which wasn't the case before, when the Touchscreen still worked.)  I got the machine as an on-display from a store, it was refurbished and still has Lenovo warranty. My question is if this is covered by warranty. If not I would be very upset since this would be the second ThinkPad product in the last 2 years that broke shortly after buying and didn't get repaired.  Regards, Ken Hutchinson

Hi, After working out that my laptop (Thinkpad Yoga S1) most likely has a digitizer, I purchased a pen for it. However, since I wasn't 100% sure, I bought a cheaper, off-brand pen that people said was compatible, the listing for which can be found here. I received it today, but my computer seems unresponsive when I try to use it. When I went to Wacom Pen or Pen and Touch Input, the pen calibration screens were either blank (Wacom) or didn't load (Input). Is there something else I have to do to make my pen work? Did I purchase the wrong pen? If it helps, the pen slot on my computer is still plugged; I was going to unplug it, but to do so I'd have to remove the back paneling, and one of the screws keeping it in place has been stripped. The thread confirming that my laptop has a digitizer is here. Thanks!

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga digitizer pen

Hi

Please notice that this is my personal opinon and it does not mean I'm 100% right, this is based on my experience.

I think that the "Digitizer PEN for Lenovo ThinkPad X60 X61 X200 X201" is for older Thinkpad models. I have a Thinkpad Yoga 14 (Similar to S1) (20DM008UUS) and it has a digitizer screen, but it requires an "active pen" (with batteries inside) to be able to work with the digitizer.

I have the Thinkpad Pen Pro and it works fine with my model. I still think you have a digitizer on your laptop but I think it is the wrong pen.

Here it also some more info about the pen that Amy wrote.

Regards.

I've seen several threads about this issue, but none that address my specific concern.

I have a ThinkPad Yoga 14. It did not come with a digitizer pen included. However, I suspect that the screen does in fact have a Wacom digitizer layer. My rationale is this:

My computer came pre-installed with the Wacom Pen Calibration Software
Device Manager reports the following HID devices:-- HID-compliant digitizer-- HID-compliant pen-- Wacom Device
When I run the Wacom Hardware Check (available here), it reports "You have hardware compatible with the Wacom FEEL driver."
All of the 20DM008 models listed at http://psref.lenovo.com/Product/179 support the active pen (I cannot find the 20DM008U++ model there for some reason)

However, the computer will not recognize the ThinkPad digitizer pen I purchased.

So, I suppose I have three questions:

Am I just misinterpreting what I am seeing in the Device Manager?
Is it possible that Lenovo installs the Wacom screen on all it's tablets, but disables them somehow on models not marketed as digitizer ready?
If so, is there any way for me to enable my screen to allow for digitizer use?

Good day.

Looking at the models that support pen at the PSREF link you included, please notice that it specifies "Active Pen". This is not the same as the ThinkPad Digitizer Pen. That's why it won't work for you.

Hello, I'd like to know if the Yoga 520 offers an active digitizer making the use of an active pen possible. Not a passive/capacitive one, but an ACTIVE one. I've recently bought a notebook which said it had support for active pens and ended up with a touchscreen instead which offers capacitive pen support only. I aim to use Staffpad with it so if I could be informed of it's compatibility with the app that'd be better.

I just got a Yoga S1 with the Digitizer Pen.  Is the pen supposed to behave similar to a standard touch?  In otherwords, can I use it instead of my finger when touching the screen?  So far it doesn't seem to have any affect on the windows start screen.  I know the pen works because I found an app that translates the writing to text (can't remember the app name, still learning what came on the computer).  I'm just trying to learn the capabilities and limitations of the pen. Thanks in advance

Hi, welcome to the forums.

I can only talk from my experience.  I have ThinkPad Pen Pro 4X80H34887 on my Thinkpad Yoga 14 ( 20DM008UUS ).
http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/itemdetails/4X80H34887/460/41E9A3C3FB5A45A9AC47C56812E4188C

For what I know (I may be wrong) the Pen Pro uses Wacom technology, it has a battery inside. I found it very nice with a nice size... but it depends on personal taste.

Can you post the full model number of the computer you want to check it will work with the pen?
I know that the Thinkpad Pen Pro web page may not say much. So, what I saw it was recomended on this forum was:
1) Check your computer model against the PSRef Books: http://psref.lenovo.com/
See if your model is listed with "Active Pen" support.

2) There is more information about the Thinkpad Pen Pro here: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/acc100178

There is also the Thinkpad Yoga Pen , but I don't have experience with that one, some amazon review says it does not have batteries and it focus for replacement for Thinkpad Yoga that came with pen... but I don't know.

I have a cracked screen on Yoga 2 13  and i am thinking to replace it. Since warranty is not working I contacted the service centre and they offered the replacment for the price of new laptop. Hi, my Yoga 13 touch screen has been working fine until yesterday. The laptop came with Windows 8, and last year I upgraded to Windows 8.1 without issue. Yesterday, I installed optional update KB3000850 from Windows Update, and immediately the touch screen stopped working. I have tried the following methods, all without success: * Uninstall KB3000850 from Windows Update* Use Windows Restore to restore to the point before yesterday* Re-install Intel Chipset Driver from Lenovo official driver page* In Device Manager, uncheck all the "allow system to turn off to save power" options for the USB input devices under Human Interface Devices then restart* Two-button shutdown and restart* Install Lenovo Driver Manager and let it check for new drivers* Download Cando multi touch panel driver (Note: I could not install the driver because all I got was a .cab file which does not allow me to install) As of now my touch screen is still not working. Computer Information page from Settings shows that there is no touch or pen device for my screen. Can anybody help me with this? Thanks!

Hello, I bought this laptop about 4 months ago. After a while the trackpoint started to have problems when the surface underneath the laptop was uneven, so I sent the laptop for repair in US and I believe they changed the motherboard. A week or so after I got the laptop back the issue happened again, but it didn't happen as often and I was about to leave for Moscow so I forgot about it. Fast forward two happy months of use, last week for no apparent reason the trackpoint AND touchpad stopped working (previously the touchpad worked). I've tried reinstalling drivers and all sorts of software tricks (including looking into bios and updating it). I have two questions:1. Weirdly enough, there isn't a single option in bios about touchpad, trackpoint, or UltraNav, which makes me think the bios doesn't even see the hardware! Can someone with a working UltraNav on yoga 12 check their bios under keyboard/mouse and let me know? 2. Has anybody sent laptops for repair in Moscow? Is the quality and duration of service reasonable? Do they have depots here or only certified service providers? If need be, can they change the motherboard or would they have to send the laptop abroad? I'd rather not stay without a laptop for a month! 3. Has anybody had recurring problems like this? I've had thinkpads before and they've lasted me years without a single problem. I'm beginning to think there are design problems at least with this model. What are my options? I have plenty of... Answer:Yoga 12 (2nd gen) UltraNav, fan, and keyboard light stopped working in Russia

Hi

Just in case, what I will do first is to do some trial and error and try to reinstall the trackpoint/ultranav driver from the support site:
http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkpad-...

Maybe something that you can do in some trial and error and to boot with a Linux USB stick and see how the UltraNav/Trackpoint works with it.

But, there is also a post from Lenovo here:
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/TP-Yoga-12-Synaptics-Pointing-Device-no...

It says:
"Due to customer reports that the touchpad and trackpoint on Yoga 12 laptops randomly stop working, a solution has been put in place.

If you are experiencing this issue and your ThinkPad Yoga 12 was manufactured prior to October 2015, please contact Lenovo Service for Support and reference Service TIP #SF15-T0095/ HT116650. The fix requires the laptop be serviced.

Thank you,"

Maybe you apply for those who have some hardware issues with this model.

Hi everyone, I've had the yoga 2 pro for about a year now - took a little bit of fiddling to get it working just right (clean OEM win 8.1 install and installing drivers in the right order etc) but I had it working just perfect then....About a week ago the webcam stopped working during a skype call. I tried reinstalling the drivers etc and messed around for 2 days trying to get it working again. The LED light comes on when it's engaged and it says it's present and working in device manager but I get no picture on skype or any other program. I reinstalled windows 8.1 from scratch in the hope that this would solve it but same issue. So I assumed it was a hardware fault and thought stuff it! But then last night I installed Windows 7 32 bit on VMWare to run some of the older 32 bit programs and the webcam works perfectly within this virtual OS!! So it doesn't seem to be a hardware problem after all.I've tried everything - installing the bison & Liteon drivers from the Lenovo website, installing the generic win 8 drivers etc but NOTHING WORKS!!Can  you help? Hello, I purchased two new Yoga 12 notebooks and have tried to wipe and install my own volume license version of Windows 8.1. The driver always shows as failed state.  When I try to go and download the xHCI driver as a standalone driver it shows as only available for Windows 7. My other notebook does work, but I have not installed my copy of Windows 8.1 on it. The driver must be somewhere, can someone point me in the right direction? I already tried to use system update but all it found was some bios update and wifi drivers. I really need to get the pen to work. If you touch the screen it works fine, its just the pen and apparently USB 3.0. My model is 20DL003AUS. Thanks, n152

Hello,I just bought a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 12 (20DL000SIX) that does not come with the pen apparently (I still have to receive it physically), but *does* have the full HD capacitive screen multitouch (1920 x 1080).I also bought separately the Thinkpad Yoga digitizer pen (4X80F22110).I spent a lot of time to understand if the two are compatible (i.e. the wacom digitizer is installed or not on the laptop), and on Lenovo website, following Products -> Accessories&Software -> Search For Compatible Accessories For Your System, it looks that indeed they are:http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/catalog.workflow:find-compati... I see that there are multiple posts on similar issue, confirming that the communication of Lenovo about pens and digitizer is really inadequate.I read in many places that the thinkpad yoga's that don't come with the pen do *not* have the digitizer. I also read that the full HD screens does have te digitizer. So, I'm getting confused...: my yoga does have the full HD but does not come with the pen included! There is no clear information anywhere and also the Lenovo  support (I called on the phone many times) is not satisfactive on this.Does anyone have the same model, or have a more clear idea on this topic? Thanks!Giulia

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga 12: digitizer? (20DL000SIX)

Hi giulsi

I also agree with you on this subject. There is much confusion with the "pens" on Thinkpad Yogas.
I think that Lenovo should specify better on the webpage (shop) which Thinkpad Yoga came with Active Pen, and on the Pen pages (also on the shop page) they should specify which models apply for it, and where to search if you computer has support for it.

How to know if you Thinkpad Yoga is Pen Compatible?
For the moment one thing that works to know if your Thinkpad is "Pen Compatible" is to search on the PSRef books.
http://psref.lenovo.com/
or
http://psref.lenovo.com/Book

I searched your model:
http://psref.lenovo.com/Detail/ThinkPad_Yoga_12?M=20DL000S%2B%2B
It says it has:

Pen
Digitizer pen

So that's good......
There are other models that says "Active Pen".. not sure if that means it only works with the "Thinkpad Pen Pro" or not.

How to resolve the question of which pen is good for you?
Thinkpad Yoga Pen suppor page:
https://support.lenovo.com/ec/es/documents/pd030464
It says "The ThinkPad Yoga Pen supports the ThinkPad Yoga." So it may also work.

I'm guessing that it will work, but please post back when you get your pen to see if it works with your model.
Regards

I've read that the 20cd0032us and 33us Thinkpad Yoga models are the only ones without an active digitizer.  However, this appears to be all that is for sale on Amazon and other places.  Any idea of where you can but a Thinkpad Yoga with an active digitizer??

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga w/ active digitizer

They are only available on Lenovo's website as far as I've seen. I tried looking other places like Amazon, too, but haven't seen the digitizer model. I ended up buying one directly.

Hello everyone, I'm in the market for a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga for work. It needs to have the digitizer pen/panel. How do I determine if the model has a digitizer pen/panel? Is a 1080p panel enough to determine it? I'm looking at stores online and they don't really list this information. Thanks in advance

Hi everyone. I am looking to buy a laptop for university (studying engineering). I would like something that is durable, and powerful. Thats why I am looking into getting the Thinkpad Yoga. I love the convertable and compact feel, as well as the SSD that I will be getting with it.  However, another reason why I wanted to get it is because of the 'Active Digitzer'. I didn't even know what this was called since a week ago, and I still cant seem to understand what this feature will allow me to do? How does the Digitzer benefit me? Especially when I compare it to the Yoga Pro 2 (even tough that also has a touchscreen). Am I unable to draw on a YP2? Would I not be able to draw on the screen? I want to use it mainly when I use Adobe Illutrator. Is the Digitzer option worth the extra money I have to pay? With that feature added on, I will be paying almost $2000 :s

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga: Is it worth it and Digitizer?

Hi there: I have been using X230T, a predessor of Thinkpad Yoga. X230T also comes with a digitizer. I bought X23)T also for a reason: I can take note during class. I am not an engineer but a finance student. 1. You might want an Active Digitizer because it allows you to write on-screen. Use Microsoft One Note. Your computer can replace your pen and paper.2. You can still draw on YP2. But what do you feel when you use your finger, say your pointer, as a pen  YP2 does not have a digitizer pen. 3. The pen I believe is included. You do not have to pay extra unless you want to have a spare one. 4. I think Lenovo Thinkpad has lost its quality legacy from IBM. I do not like the new layout of the keyboard (I like the trackpoint but the moust click now share with the trackpad. It is just ridiculous. You cannot have an accurate click with it (for me))5. Just look at the Microsoft new Surface pro 3. You might like it! If the next time I upgrade my computer, I would by a Surface pro instead of the Thinkpad.   Cheers

I was wondering if the Yoga 3 touch screen has a wacom digitizer so I could use a wacom smart pen for example.  I would like to use my Yoga 3 to draw things but somehow no graphic pen is officially convertible with it. The WACOM Smart Pen is convertible with any product with WACOM digitizer so I want to know if my laptop has this. If not, does anybody have another suggestion which pen I could use for drawing?

So like I do from time to time, I'm configuring a Thinkpad Yoga to mull over (window shopping until I can afford one) when I notice that there's no mention of a digitizer or pen functionality any more, anywhere. Did something happen to it? Pen support was a deal breaker for me.

Answer:Thinkpad Yoga - Digitizer not available anymore??

I noticed this missing info too when ordering my custom ThinkPad Yoga, so at checkout I added pen from the optional accessories. When my laptop arrived, it came with two pens! One inside the laptop package, and another in separate box. I suppose it might be their website issue or country-specific supply issue.

Ok so i just recieved a thinkpad yoga S1. The one i got was the one without the digitizer pen automatically installed into the computer's side. The pen came separately and its the exact same one as the one used with the version that comes with the pen. I dont know the product code or even what its called. Which driver do i install and how can i register the product? Also, since the version i have has like a little black piece where the digitizer normally goes is there any way i can take it out and be able to accomodate the pen that came seperatly?

Answer:Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga S1 digitizer help

I think there is only two options it either comes with the pen or it doesn't. The one that doesn't have the pen built into it doesn't support the pen because of the panel used. That is waht I remember when I was researching into this unit.
