I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi guys! I'm writing here to get some advice for a bad situation I am having with my Lenovo. It is quite 3 years old, and a few days ago a very bad problem started: in some situations, the screen starts to flicker, everything that was showing is blocked (but for example it there is a video running I can still hear it) and then it fades slowly until becoming completely white. If I press in a random point (not always the same) on the screen or on the edges of the laptop, the screen turns back how it was, and I need to press for a bit to maintain the screen how it should be. The problem could come again if for example caused by some vibrations on the table or by ajusting the incline of the screen. My idea is that the LCD is starting to "detach" (cannot come up with a different word), so sooner or later I will not be able to solve temporarily the problem by only pressing on the screen and that I will have to send it to technical support. I cannot send it right now because i need it for work. Can someone tell me if the problem is this, and eventually how much could cost to repair it?If some more info are needed to understand better, please ask!  Thank you!

few months back I started to face white screen problem on my Lenovo g500 laptop. At first problem started during boot and then it would appear if I adjust the screen. Then it got worse.A month back I decided to open the LCD panel since warranty is over of the laptop. I simply adjusted video cable and put little pressure on the adapter. It seems to fix the problem but now for last 2-3 days I am again getting the issue. What do you think is the problem? can I fix it?

Hi. I have had my Lenovo p500 laptop for around a year and a half and have recently been experiencing issues with the screen going completely white. I would say I've had this issue for about a month now. It will randomly go completely white and if I shut the lid or press the power button and then turn it back on it is fine. It seems to do it when it gets really hot, so I bought a cooling mat for it and that has helped some but it is still doing it. From searching around on the internet, it seems it could also possibly be a problem with the screen or an issue with the video card. How would I go about figuring out what is causing the problem?

Answer:Lenovo p500 White Screen Issue

Hello, I have a Lenovo T440s. I was just using it last night and everything was okay, but today when I turn it on I get a white screen with gray bars on the sides. I have tried removing the battery and rebooting it several times. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions to get rid of this white and gray screen to a proper display again? This is a work computer, so I want to do everything I can to make sure it's okay for when I go back to work after vacation. Thank you!

Answer:Gray/White Screen Lenovo T440s at Boot Screen

Totally white screen usually means unplugged cable, but white with gray sounds like a broken panel or sick motherboard

I have a lenovo laptop,Z580 Today out of nowhere the whole screen turned white. I shut down the laptop but when i tried to reboot,The screen was still white.Something told me to just remove the battery and see if that would at least get it to boot and here i am,However, the battery is currently out. What could be the problem? Will it happen again? I only have a month left until work starts again,Can't have it breaking </3

Answer:Lenovo Laptop Screen Turns White Upon Boot?

Hmm sounds like you may have a monitor problem mate - can you get into safe mode?? if you can run these
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
Disk Check < if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2

NB SFC best run for about three runs

if no go then do these
SUPERAntiSpyware | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!
Malwarebytes | Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium
AdwCleaner Download
ADW download from bleeping computer delete any rubbish found with the malware scans
(NB If one is running Kaspersky security it may rant about ADW - just ignore it or disable Kaspersky while the ADW is being used)

One last thing try leaving the battery out unplug form the power source and hold down the power button for around 10-20 seconds and then power up again.

They refused to service my company's laptops saying it's pressure caused by us. The laptops are attached to tables on the docking station. The only time there is so-called "pressure" is when we open/close the screens. The company has over 200 Thinkpads dating from 20 years ago and it's the first time I see this. Who has gotten their laptops fixed?

Answer:Does Lenovo acknowledge the white spot issue on IPS screens?

It looks like Lenovo is looking into it per this post from Mark_Lenovo:

Hi there, I bought a Lenovo Z50-70 last year and it was working fine, but now suddenly I am facing this issue. Laptop's screen goes white sometimes, sometimes it works fine. By white, I mean it goes exactly the same as shown in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9pWwIBFsN4 Its just the screen that goes white, the laptop works fine. However, after restarting sometimes or putting it in stand by and turning it back on again fixes  the issue and I can use the laptop fine.. However, after like 2-3 hours of usage approx, the same problem comes again and screen goes white. Then I have to shut it down and give some rest to laptop before using it again.. Does my problem makes sense to anyone?I can take it to repair shop as well, but I need to figure out what exactly the problem is that, is it the hardware or my screen is faulty or the connector between motherboard and screen is fault. I want to know that as well to make sure that I do not get charged extra. I'd appreciate any sort of help here as I have few projects coming up and I cant afford to be without laptop.Regards

If you get the white screen during POST but the display is fine on an external display then the cause if most likely the LVDS cable. Try to reseat or change this part and observe.

I've had a g580 for a while now, working perfectly. However, a few days ago, after a clean shut down, I was welcomed with a white screen and a burn-like stench from with in. Display wasnt responding (apart from the annoying white color). Laptop actually works, connected to the external monitor, so I'm guessing the mobo is fine? And since this is a LED screen, there's no inverter. What could it be?

I have a Lenovo Z580 since yesterday my laptop screen has gone white , I have tries taking the batteries out and using only the adaptor still it wont workbut it works on external display please help

Answer:lenovo z580 screen goes white

hi jileshz,

Thanks an Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums,

If the display is showing Properly on an External Display, that points to your LCD as the one causing this,
You can Try doing a Power Drain as the first before taking any other step,
Remove tha AC and Battery and hold the power button down for 15 sec.
Then reconnect only the AC Charger and Try.

If your system is still within warranty period you I strongly suggest you call Lenovo Technical Support in your location and have the LCD check and replaced,

-OR-

If your comfortable with reseating some Parts You can check you system Maintenance Manual here, and try reseating the LCD connection you may try other compatible LCD cable aswell,

NOTE:
The system board is sensitive to, and can be damaged by, electrostatic
discharge. Before touching it, establish personal grounding by touching a
ground point with one hand or using an electrostatic discharge (ESD) strap

Hello,I am a current owner of Y570. I am having an issue with its screen... When I turn on the computer, the screen is white with some gray horizontal lines. If I leave it turned on, I can visually see that the left bottom corner of the screen start turning gray/dark and starts spreading throughout the screen. I disassembled the laptop and saw that lvds (lcd) cable was damaged. Also, when I sent the computer to the Lenovo service center, I heard that the motherboard was damaged. What would be the possible reason for screen malfunctioning? Would it be worthwhile to replace lvds cable? Thanks in advance...

I'm having an issue where my display will go to a white screen every 5 min of inactivity. I've already set my screensaver, sleep mode, display to 200 minutes and it still goes white after 5 min. It might be worth mentioning that this only happens in desktop mode. I even tried splitting the screen with the mail app on one side and the desktop on the other and after 5 min only the desktop went white. I can get out of it by clicking and pressing Esc but its still annoying when watching videos.

Hello I am facing the white screen issue with my laptop for quite some time now. At first it was hapenning only when I adjusted the screen and only for a second, then it depended on the position of the laptop but now the image is completely gone. The issue was worse when the laptop was not plugged in.Everything works fine on any external monitor.I've been to a local it service a few times.First, they replaced the display. It worked fine for a few weeks then it happened again.Went back to the service, they changed again the display. Same result.Next visit, they cleaned the display band, they said it was a little oxidated. Worked fine a few weeks, same story. The following visit they completely replaced the band. Again, the same story. Is there anything else we could try? Spoiler (Highlight to read)    Thank you very much and I apologize if there's already a thread about this. hi,i need help please, i have this lappy 1year old purchased from gulf and now i'm facing problem there is a white spot appearing on the center of the screen,i can't if its a dead pixel since its appearing after sometime when i restart....

Answer:lenovo g50-70 weird white spot on screen

From what you have described it sound like you have a stuck pixel.  I am assuming the spot is not large, but a tiny dot.  To rule out a graphics driver problem try booting the computer into Windows Safe mode and observe.  If the problem appears there as well then it is definitely related to the pixel.

Since the problem is appearing sometime after restarting, try one of those screen exercise videos available on YouTube.  A continuous screen exercise might unstick the problem.  Here is a Google search of some of the available videos.......

Hi there,  My Lenovo Yoga 710 IKB 15'' Laptop has had many problems. The fan was making noise and I started a topic here that was ridiculously marked solved when it wasn't, and now I have this new problem. For some reason, my screen has been blinking white (see attached pictures). Sometimes the white screen is blinking, sometimes it stays for a few seconds and other times it's not there at all but is clearly still an issue. I have already updated both the Intel and NVIDIA display drivers and when I run a scan I'm told there are no updates available. When I run a game or anything that requires the computer to switch to using the NVIDIA card, there is also a buzzing sound coming from the side of the computer, although this is not present when the Intel card is being used (the white screen appears no matter what I'm doing or which graphics card is being used).  I like this laptop but these are really too many problems. I bought this as a replacement for another laptop as I'm a student who really urgently needs to use a computer. Is lenovo going to fix this??

Answer:Lenovo Yoga 710 Screen turns white

I didn't see or respond to your first thread, but the temperatures (42C idle and 65C gaming) see normal.  85C or 90C is a high temperature under load but not temperatures in the 60's.  (Most CPUs, desktop or laptop, have thermal shutdown when a CPU hits about 105C.)  The thread said to contact support and gave you a support document to reference for fan noise.  Your fans would be running when your temperatures are in the 60's, but not at high speed.  Did you do that?  I didn't mark it solved, but if I read the questions and the response, I would have thought the issue was solved, although someone should have said that 65 was OK.  If you had posted back and support couldn't find the support document, that would have meant that it wasn't solved.

Regarding the white screen,  you are going to need to contact support for warranty repair.

Answer:Lenovo G580 screen goes white display

hi sameerjha28,
Welcome to Lenovo Forums!

?
You can try doing this:
-Turn off the computer.
-Unplug AC Adapter and remove the battery.
- Hold the Power button Down for at least 10-15 seconds, Then try reconnecting the AC adapter only and leave the battery out, turn it ON and see if it will make any difference.
- If it powered on Try it with the battery and check if it would still turn on properly.
?
If the above steps did not work Try an external monitor and check if it works there.

I would suggest Contact Lenovo Technical Support for service if the steps above did not help.

?
Hope this helps,

Greetings community, hope you can help me out with this problem here, Last night my laptop went white screen all of a sudden on me and I was shocked. I wasn't even running any intensive programs at the time and my laptop temperature was okay and not hot at all. I tried pressing different keys and the one which helped me was FN + F1 which was to put my laptop to sleep, then i pressed it again, the login screen came up and the white screen was gone. Another time it happened again was when I was watching Youtube video and it suddenly had a white screen, I could still hear the audio properly and I did the FN+F1 again and it worked. However I fear this may mean my laptop needs repairing, anyone any suggestion to my problem? Please and thank you Edit* I do not have any Anti Virus programs, only Microsoft Security essentials and i think this may be a hardware problem. I've changed my hard disk once due to it overheated, the lenovo technician came over to my school and changed a new hard disk for me as it was under warranty. IF IT IS a hardware problem, do i still get to replace the faulty parts for free under warranty?( my warranty expires on march 2015)I also have this problem regardless of whether my battery is plugged in or not. Hope this helps. The only thing I've yet to try is to connect my laptop to another display and see if a white screen appears there because well, I dont have the cable :/

Answer:Hi, my Lenovo Y470 started having white screen...

Hello Kami,  Please try with another display see if the problem persists ! Please try to access bios and see if there is same issue with Bios Screen.    - Unplug all power including battery if it is removable and press power button for 30 seconds. Just connect cable and start the your computer see if problem persists.  -  If problem persists please press One Key Recovery button see if it goes to one key recovery without white screen. Let us see results of these steps to go further on Troubleshooting.  Thanks

Hello, I got a problem with my Lenovo Y410 (7757). When I turned on the computer yesterday, It displayed a white screen - i cannot see the BIOS checking screen or the booting screen either. When I connected the laptop with my desktop's monitor, I saw that the laptop still worked I updated the BIOS ( http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/lenovo/hints/2414/895.html ) and the network card could not work. I restored using the backup file ( boot.bak ) and now I cannot boot my laptop anymore ( what a stupid decision ) and the white screen problem still occurs. It seems that I've killed my laptop. Could you give me some solutions for this. Thank you so much!

I have a 6371-E6U that has a video problem which appears to be heat related.  After a short period - usually less than 2 minutes, the LCD screen will flash completely white and then within a couple of seconds the entire laptop will have the power completely turned off.  I have to pull the battery, unplug the external power and reconnect at least one of the power sources, battery or external power, in order for it to power back on.  Subsequent power on attempts will result in the power staying on and the LCD working for shorter periods of time until after a few tries, it will not get past the BIOS startup.  Connecting an external monitor works as long as the power remains on - even while and after the LCD has turned completely white.

What graphics setup do I have?  In searching this site, the S/N of xxxxx is not accepted.  I have not found anything from searching with the mainboard P.N 41W6424 either.  The system is a T60 widescreen, 15.4", LCD, but I do not know more about the graphics setup.

Would these symptoms indicate the motherboard (due to graphics processor as part of it), or could it be the CCFL, inverter, or LCD screen or something else.  Since when the laptop is power on again, the LCD seems to work okay for a short period, so I suspect the LCD is okay.  Since the external monitor also continues to work after the LCD goes white, I suspect the graphics processor on the motherboard is also okay.

Answer:Lenovo video problem - white screen

Sounds like it's most likely a bad GPU, they often fail and still work on the external port and it's not common for screens to have thermal related failures. Sometimes screens will go black if the backlight is failing, but not usually white and if it was the screen you should still have normal function otherwise so if you're playing a video and the audio also stops, then my guess would be a bad motherboard.  Regarding your model, I think you might have the wrong 7 digit number, it doesn't sound like any T60 I've seen. For the 15.4" widescreen models you had three graphic options, Intel and ATI X1300 and 1400 Radeon. They are interchangeable and I believe I have an x1400 board if you can use it. If you have Intel graphics and use an ATI board you'll also need to change the fan. If you check in device manager if will tell you which video adapter you have. Also check the max screen resolution

Hello,I have just recieved my lenovo y410p from UPS. When i turned it on there was a white bar with clear lines and red lines in it on the far left of my screen. It reaches from the top to the bottom. I have a feeling it is a hardware malfunction from shipping. The bar is extremely annoying. I have the warranty of course, but I dont know if I could possibly go into my NVIDIA settings and change something to fix it. If not, can someone help me find the warranty info and what not (like to send the computer back and get a new one) Also, my order time when i bought my PC said 2-3 days, it took 7 days. Thanks, quick responses are appreciated.

Answer:Thinkpad Lenovo X201 white screen

to confirm if it's the screen or not is to move screen forward and backwards to see if screen flickers or sort off switch from white to normal then back to white if it does that then it means the LCD cable is damaged and needs to be re-placed.

I found the exact issue and after posting it to another thread it fixed others computers too, so here's the solution. At first I thought it was a screen issue, but if I pressed firmly on the screen it would start working for a little before I had to do it again. I took the back off of the screen and base and after a long period of time wasted and wires wiggled, I found it was where all the wires from the screen combined into one big black wire right by the fan (I know I should have taken pictures but its pretty obvious once you take the back off). After pushing it firmly back down, as it was held by a good amount of black tape, my screen has came right back to life and no problems since. I know Ill have to do it in another 6 months, but whatever needs to be done to get through school, right? Just go pick up a 2 dollar screwdriver kit for electronics (the super small bits) and take the back off of the keyboard/base and push that wire firmly back down and youre set! (Don't reset your PC, microsoft logins are not as easy to fix and take even longer to get all apps back and working!)

My laptop Z50-70 had one problem with it, since day one: The screen showed the white colour as yellowish. I thought it was something that is common to all such machines, so I compensated it by using Color Management in Windows to decrease yellow's intensity. There's a yellowish tint to theRecently I saw a friend's Lenovo Z50-70 without the same yellow tint. As it turns out his screen showed normal white normally. So I chatted with Customer Care and they asked me to send pictures of my screen's white. I did, but they said it's not noticeable. What should I do?I have reset my PC, reinstalled all the proper drivers at the right time, and nothing seems to improve.

Answer:Lenovo Z50-70 Screen shows white as yellowish

Its a common problem with the Y50 as well. I have two friends who purchased Y50's alongside me. One purchsed the 48hz screen locked 2014 UHD model. His colours look great on the IPS dispaly yet his refresh rate is locked to 48hz so literally any FPS game is hindered.Another has the 2014 FHD Y50 Touch model. His whites look like yellows and his yellows look like mustard. And finally me, the 2014 FHD Y50 Non-Touch. It has an AU pannel, full 60hz and literally ALL my colours are off compared to just about any other display in the house. Whites are white, blues are slight off. Bright yellows start turning orange. Reds look orange.. Etc.. By defualt, the colours on my laptop were very de-saturated. After bumping it up in intel's control pannel and turning down gamma by one knotch, i've gotten an "Acceptable" result.Anyways.. Just check what pannel your friend has in his Z50-70 (you can use software to find this). Then when your warrenty ends, purchase that panel and swap it out with the one you currently have. I've seen side by side comparison videos regarding this issue on my laptop and the replacement pannel looks about 40% better. Mainly because the current AU pannel i have only re produces an embarassing 60% of Adobe RGB.

I can't tell exactly when this started as I have upgraded the NVIDIA drivers as well as the Dell bios and switched from running the onboard Intel HD 630 to GTX 750ti , but now on a cold boot, with the fast startup off, the screen flashes white for a sec after the Dell logo. It could possibly be white noise but I can't focus on it fast enough. It doesn't happen on restarts. I'm connected via hdmi out to a LG TV.
Dell XPS 8910 using the NVidia GTX 750ti and an HDMI TV as monitor Bios version is 1.1.0 ,1.1.0 Original version was 1.0.9, 1.0.9, can I revert back to 1.0.9 ?

Hello,

I bought my Toshiba Satellite L50-B-11C, PSKTCE yesterday and I installed Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit and all the drivers but when i was installing AMD Graphics driver downloaded from the official site in the middle of instalation a white screen appeared and it is like that ever since...Maybe you could help me get it back to life before I have to ship it back to the dealer and so on.

Best regards,

Stjepan ?opar

Answer:Satellite L50-B-11C - White screen issue

It is really strange issue. I have checked Toshiba download page and your machine is fully supported for Win7 64bit.

I hope you can start your machine and enter BIOS settings. Try to set it one more time to default settings, then change settings for Win7 installation and try it again.

I don't understand if you can see this white screen all the time or what? I mean from the moment when you press power button. If yes, I?m afraid it could be hardware related issue. just contact your local dealer and ask for replacement.

I wasn't sure where to put this so i decided to do it here since it might relate to some recent malware/virus removal i had you guys help me with.

I had the dreaded scour.com bugs plus a lot of trojan and other virus issues a couple weeks ago.

Since you guys put me through step by step help there have been no virus issues or pop up problems and i was instructed to continue using the TFC (temp file cleaner) program i downloaded from here once a week to make sure the computer kept running fast. (which is still not as fast as it use to be but much better than it had been.)

I made the routine of every Thursday running the TFC scan and then restarting the computer when prompted. This Thrusday i noticed that something has changed.

The first Thrusday i ran the scan it seemed fine and deleted some temp files with no real affect other than when it restarts the computer the screen will kind of give this stark white staticy look to it before each step until it reaches my "password log in page" for windows vista.

However Today (well it's after midnight so yesterday, thrusday) when i ran the scan and came back into the room to restart it, it had gone into "sleep mode" (which i've never been able to prevent it from doing even when i have the settings for sleep mode turned off). But instead of the squiggly lines bouncing around a black background that it normally has, it was Stark white and when i wiggled the mouse it made a staticy look before goin... Read more

I have a Lenovo Ideapad U410 and the left part of my screen is uniformly white after turning on the laptop. It's a rectangle about 1 inch long, from top of the screen to the bottom. I got this suddenly pretty much a month after buying the laptop (it appeared suddenly and I didn't do anything to cause it), and then the area of the white rectangle got bigger after I mistakenly dropped my laptop yesterday.  Would buying a new screen and installing it fix this, or could the problems be more besides the screen?  And is this covered by limited warranty?  Thanks.

Afterwards, please restart the system and check if the issue still persists then it needs a personal assistance and it will be covered under warranty.

Hi all, I have got a Lenovo G560 which I purchased in Feb, 2010. (I wish, I would have never did it.)I'm having a "white screen" problem since the day I got my laptop. For my problems below, my laptop was taken to Turkey Service 3 times but they just could not solve it! They do the last version BIOS updates, the last sofwares but it never helps me! Here below, I'll try to explain the problems, but I need to say that the problems I'll tell does not occur always but frequenty (like 7 of 10) and quite annoying me and for sure the other users here.- When I shut down the computer, the screen stays white till the battery is empty.- The screen blinks suddenly when the computer is on and processing. The screen is black for less then a second and then back to normal.- Fn+F2 key combinations does not work altough you see the warning icon at the right corner below.- Fn+Arrow keys (for brigtness up/down) does not work, but you see the bars moving up and down on the screen. For these problems, my laptop was taken to the service 3 times but the Lenovo technicians could not solve the problems. What I will do now is that I want my laptop to be changed with a new one or pay my money back by Lenovo. Because, this is not my fault, Lenovo has to do something! If they do nothing, I will apply to court and complain them that they sell faulty machines to people! I tell this story any friend of mine for them NOT TO BUY a lenovo and I make them tell this to everyone who is wil... Hello, I have a T430s.  Two nights ago, it showed a white screen at startup.  I turned it off, turned it back on and it gave me an error screen that allowed me to proceed and boot the computer.  Everything was fine, I did not think much of it.  Yesterday morning, upon startup and ever since (from sleep mode, which I accidentlally clicked when I turned off for the night) all I get is a blank white screen.  The green power lights are on, the wifi indicator is green and the little green drum with the arrow lights when I push buttons.  I have tried several the obvious things with no luck (esc, ctrl alt delete, power down, with and without battery in many combinations, pressing power buttom 10 times and holding for 30 sec).  I do not have an extra monitor handy, but I do not thoink that the monitor is my issue due to the behavior of the machine.  Please let me know if there is a simple solution to this issue, I totaly understand that this might not be an easy fix, guess I am looking for some luck today.  No warranty left, company computer, I just need to get some information off of it today if possible. Thank you.

Answer:Lenovo T430s Blank White Screen on startup

Usually. a white screen indicates a partially unplugged or damaged LCD cable. On older machines, it was a more common and happened if the LCD cable became unplugged from the back of the panel, because the connection to the backlight was separate through the inverter, With a white screen, you have the connection to the backlight providing current, but no signals to the LCD matrix. On your machine, a completely unplugged cable behind the panel would give a black screen. Does moving the screen around change anything?

Hello Team, My Lenovo G580 is turning white on start. Answer:Lenovo G580 displays white screen when turned on

hi Harsha_28,

Welcome to the Forums.

If the black patch is similar to the picture below then the issue is most likely with the LCD assembly  - possibly dead pixels (you can verify this by connecting an external monitor via the VGA port).

If you're in India, I recommend you contact Lenovo and report the issue.

Hi, my laptop starts to randomly pixelate in areas where it's white or grey, it may also in more colored areas but if so it's not noticeable.  Also portions of the screen that should be white appear to be bleached out and make it difficult to see in those specific areas.  Moving the screen around sometimes helps but it normally goes back to the pixelated screen after a bit.  Help would be appreciated.

Hi, I have a question about my Thinkpad E570. I've had this laptop since late-August and it has been working fine. However, about one month into owning the laptop (late September) I noticed that there was a small bright persistent spot on the screen. I assumed that it would go away as time went by, but after a month it appears that it is not going to do so. I believe that this is a manufacturing defect as I take very good care of the laptop, as well as always putting a small cushioning cloth between the keyboard and the screen when carrying it around. I've heard that this can be covered by the warranty, and was wondering how that would work. Also if it is covered by warranty, I will not be able to be without it for an extended period of time, as I have heard that warranty repairs can take upwards of a month. Is there a way that Lenovo can ship me a new screen so I can do the repair myself? Thanks

Hi,I'm looking for help diagnosing the problem with my lenovo y50. I have had it for nearly 3 years now and it has been pretty great for the most part. However, recently the screen started acting  up and going white or black and displaying multicolored lines on screen (I will attach pictures). I looked online for solution including this forum and updated the bios and tried disconnecting the screen connector and making sure it was connected well behind the screen. Ultimately none of this worked and so I am considering replacingthe screen and the edp flat cable. I just wanted to see ifI'm correct in assuming these may be the problem as I even connected the laptop to an external monitor and it worked fine therewith no lines. I will say moving the screen around does help make it visible again. Anyway thanks.

I've got this very annoying white spot which occurs only when the backgound is white =, I bought my laptop recently last week and this is what I am getting! Please tell how to get rid of this or any solution!

Answer:White spot on screen, appears only when background is bright - Lenovo G50-70

Sounds like a "stuck pixel". Most companies do not replace or repair LCD screens for just one, but you could speak with Lenovo Support (phone call) to check.  As an alternative - take the notebook back to the place of purchase and discuss with them.Good luck.

My T500 got bumped and now when it boots it gets to the Lenovo screen and then goes to a blank screen with a picture of a little computer and a picture of a lock beside it. They are both small and in the upper right corner of the screen. It seems to want a password to get beyond this screen but it doesn't accept the password for the computer or any other option I try. After 3 tries a crude diagram of a white hand comes up and it is locked up. What is this telling me? Is there a word I need to enter to get the machine going again?

Answer:T500 goes to a White computer Picture and a Lock After the Lenovo Screen

The little computer and the lock seems like a supervisor password to me. Before the T500 got bumped, could you access and change the BIOS settings?

Dell team,
Recently my laptop fell down and thereafter white screen appears on the display. I checked with external monitor and found the system boots normally. I also tried LCD display test by holding "D" and powering up the laptop. It did show various colors on the display and that suggests LCD is fine. I opened the laptop and tried to reset the LCD cable. But the issue exists still. Is the issue with video cable? If so, where can I get the replacement part?
Thank you,
Jai

Answer:white screen issue with dell studio 1555

Hi JAIGANESH7681
Thanks for writing to us.
That looks to be an issues with the LCD cable. Keeping in mind the LCD test and the external monitor it works fine.
Does it makes any difference if you swing the screen back and forth while on white screen?
You can call up our part sales team for the part on 1-866-440-3355.
Provide us your system tag#, email address and name via private message.

Hello everybody,  It's been a week that I have an issue with my Lenovo IdeaPad Y510. My screen gets frozen and takes white/grey colours that I can't do anything about but to restart. When I start my computer I get this kind of screen and I can do nothing, the system reboots himself and so on. Sometimes it loads W7 and I can use it for hours and then it gets frozen again. I reinstalled the system, tried Ubuntu, but I get the same again and again.  I suspect it comes from the graphic card because it happened mostly when I was watching a movie or an online video. Does anybody know what it's about? Cheers!

Answer:Y510 issue: white/grey screen at startup

here your options:- try to update your graphic cards drivers and codecs.- try to perform clean windows installation- try to reseat ram sticks- or due to you are having hardware issue, probably ram or graphic card, ask lenovo to replace or repair it.

I have a compal el80 and last night it worked fine and ive never had a problem with my screen. Today i open it up and my screen is white. Well its actually like sorta grayish white. I can hook it up to a monitor and it asked me to do a recovery thing to restore to a earlier date. Im using windows 7 btw. So after all thats done it works fine when plugged into a monitor. I took it apart to check the ribbon cable and everything but nothing seemed loose. Is my LCD burnt out or the inverter bad? Maybe it could even be a cable still and I did a crappy job checking. Any would would be appreciated thanks.

after trying tofigure out why this occurs, I've given up and swallowed my pride and posted at TSG.
My laptop has started showing a solid white screen at odd intervales. The system can be sitting wit the the desktop showing, no usage going on and then...white screen occurs.
Nothing works, Ctl Alt del does nothing, I have to crash it with the start button, then reboot and all is well for hours, then...you know the rest. Will submitting a HJT log help?
This is not critical...yet, but I would like to get this resolved before it becomes so.

Any ideas wht it could be? My Nividia card has it drivers up to date and it runs my games great, when it runs! Could my card be going bad or is there a conflict between Nividia and windows?

Hello,I have some trouble with my HP Pavilion dv6700. When I try to turn it on, the screen goes all white. I think it is a virus, because I've tried connecting it to another screen, but it's still the same thing. I managed to reboot Windows Vista via the DOS once, but when I'd been using it for about an hour, the screen went all fluffy with red and orange colors, and after a while it just went white. Is there any way for me to completely erase the harddisk and then maybe install Linux on it (I don't have a windows CD) ?Thank you in advance

Hi Folks, I have an Asus M6000 laptop, less than a year old.  Last night i had had it running for most of the day without any problems but all of a sudden the screen went white.  I simply turned it off.  This morning i turned it back on and it started to boot up as normal with the windows XP sign coming up.  It then went to a blue screen where it said it had to check things.  It ended up truncating some files, i'm not sure which ones as it went very fast trough them.  Then when it finished in that screen it just went white again.Anyone got any ideas??Would be very grateful for any help.

Answer:When I boot my laptop my screen goes white, help??

Is it still under warranty? It may be time. Try a Linux Live CD to see if it is hardware or software related. Any recent activity, storms, etc. that could account for problems?http://www.computerhope.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1152393515This may well be a hardware fault, but those are difficult to sort out on laptops. If it will not boot with the SLAX CD, I would contact the manufacturer for warranty service.

I initially had problems with my Vista computer that used to work just fine until I launched a high-processor power-devouring software. Then, every time I launch ANY software, crazy pink and green lines would appear on the screen. (Please refer to my previous post at http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vista/900696-nvlddmkm-driver-graphic-problem.html#post7196734)

Now, the computer isn't even booting up and a whitish screen appears a few secs after providing power. Can it be solved through any way? Or should I take it to a hardware shop ? Please reply A.S.A.P

I purchased a new Gateway AMD Phenom GT5662 computer from circuit city on Feb 10th.
Everything worked fine, installed my beloved ccleaner, webroot spysweeper.
I booted up a few days ago and it gave me BLANK WHITE SCREEN
I rebooted again and it took me to the windows error checking and all that. okay, it came back negative. i finally got it into safe mode and did a system restore. then it did another white blank screen the following day. I found out that when i get the blank white screen, i press the power button to reboot, if the first doesnt work then I do it again, and it loads and shows me the GATEWAY logo. then Vista loads and everything is fine.
I did a chat with Gateway tech support and they said it was BIOS settings. the tech told me to bascially just reset the bios and take the battery out, okay fine. just want to know what you guys think of it? anyone have anything like this happen to them?

I've seen this issue in some other posts after running a search, but I'm not sure I have the same issue as others.

Specifically, my HP L2000 laptop (AMD processor) running XP begins the boot up process, displays the windows start up banner, but then hangs up displaying a white screen instead of the HP+ boot up screen followed by the windows user log-in screen. This often happens either: (i) when I start my laptop as a "stand-alone" unit after it has been connected to a remote monitor / keyboard / lan / printer, or (ii) when I start my laptop connected to the previously mentioned devices after it has been operating in a "stand-alone" mode.

I have been able to fix the problem by starting the computer in safe mode, then shutting it down, then restarting it normally. However, the problem comes back when the computer is restarted in a new peripheral configuration.

Any ideas?

This has happened to me a few times now but luckily I run Rollback Rx and can roll back to the last good snapshot.

I usually get the white flashing screen on boot when I try to install new security software, the latest culprits being Bitdefender and Avira free antivirus, whenever I install them when I go to reboot I will get my pc makers logo, then the Rollback Rx recovery console (this is normal) then back to my pc makers logo after which it normally boots into Windows but after installing the above security software after the final pc makers logo all I get is a flashing white screen, what is causing this? I have tried to google this but can't seem to come up with anything.

My System Specs:
Windows 10 Pro x64 v1511 build 10586.494

Running Security software:
Windows Defender
Winpatrol Plus
Winantiransom Plus+
Malwarebytes Pro
Rollback Rx Pro
Microsoft EMET

Fast boot and secure boot are both disabled

And yes, I do disable Windows Defender before installing another Antivirus.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have a problem with booting up my system. When I press ON/OFF button, the system starts to boot up, screen stays blank for couple of seconds and then the white screen with Lenovo, Intel and Phoenix name is displayed. As the screen stays white, I can't press any buttons, even the Lenovo Care. For half a second I can see in the bottom of the screen the text "press Lenovo care to access system rescue and recovery" (I remember something like this was displayed when my system was ok) but as the text disappears as quickly as it appeared, theres no reaction to the pressing of Lenovo Care button.I can't even access bios anymore. I have tried allmost all Fx-Fxx combinations and nothing works.I had installed all the lenovo and vista updates few days before my notebook started giving me problems. I remember that I also updated bios, but this was at least a week before the problems started. It's also strange that I don't even get any error messages or beeps. It seems like the bios is corrupted. Also the bootable cd won't boot up the notebook. The notebook is under month old.Any advice will be appreciated, tai

Ok before posting replies saying that i didnt research, well I did. Its just i need a little advice before buying.

Ok so my problem is that when i boot up my laptop, a bright white screen is displayed. I can hear the sound of Windows booting up, but all there is on the LCD Display is the big white screen. I hooked up my laptop on an external screen, and i can see everything. So i know that its not a problem of the graphics card. Im guessing its the LCD Display that is broken or the connector is badly placed or something. So i went and did some research and i found out that this might be the cause of some certain connector that connects the LCD Display with i think the mother board that needs to be reseated. I went to grab te technical manual and dissasembled my laptop. I found the connector but i dont know what to do with it. I unscrewed and placed it back but i still get the white screen.

I know its not the graphics card that is broken, nor the LCD because when i sometimes shake my laptop, the white screen is gone.

anyone know what it is that needs to be repaired? i was thing of buying a new connector for my laptop but first i need your advices.

I have a Dell Latitude C840.

Thanks in advance!

I was using my PC normally when I distracted by something on the TV, a few minutes later I turned back to my PC and the screen was completely white. Using the restart button the screen flashes from white to black and back again, the little neon light on the monitor shows green, the tower lights are on as normal but the screen stays white. Switching every thing off and then on again to try restart the same happens. Could it be the Graphics card or maybe my monitor that has packed up. Your help would be appreciated. Thankyou, K.I.Moore

I have found at least one other person that had a similar problem, but the information you provided for that problem doesn't seem to fit my symptoms. That person was seeing the message "please wait while connection is being established", I am not getting any messages, just a flashing black to white screen that stays white.

When booting, my screen will flash white. If the boot is successful, which is less than 50% of the time,I then see the loading windows screen and the computer goes ahead and boots normally. But, more often than not, I never see the booting windows screen and the monitor will just flash from black to white, several times, and then stays white. I do get the windows music to indicate that the boot was successful, but I can only see a blank white screen, no icons or mouse cursor. If I press the power button a couple of times, the system will usually eventually give me a screen that looks like the system was paused and is waiting for a user to be selected and a password to be entered. Once I am able to access the system, it seems to work normally. I have waited as long as 15 minutes or so to see if the boot will complete once I get the white screen, but it never seems to go any further.

I have checked for a virus using my virus checker, Viper antivirus, and checked for malware using malware bytes, but can find nothing. I even started a boot log to see if I could see any indication in the log file, but I can see nothing. I have worked on c... Read more

this is an incredibly frustrating experience because im going thru chemo right now so im not "all there" and ive spent the last two days sifting thru garbage solutions.

amd athlon x4 635 processor. 4gb ram. 64bit windows 10. radeon hd4250
windows apparently updated, and when it restarted it all seemed normal, saw the log in screen and everything. then it cuts out. turns black. i move the cursor, i have a cursor. i can ctrl+alt+dlt and then i can see the windows log in screen and i can manage to boot into safe mode via shut down options in the lower right corner. my computer works fine in safe mode. this is why im suspecting a driver issue, which, according to AMD's website, they basically said "LOL yeah, that 4x series isnt supported anymore. you should upgrade"

ive tried manually updating the drivers. i tried the most recent build. i tried a build right before it. i installed DDU i think its called and wiped the drivers manually and then tried to re-install, nothing changes anything. a friend sent me this link: Windows 10 ATI Radeon HD 4250 graphics? and told me to go down to the bottom and try that persons fix. this made a glimmer of hope..when i relaunched windows after following his steps, the resolution was correct (no longer big and wonkie like i was in safe mode even though i hadnt entered safe mode from the log in screen yet) but it was still a black screen.

this is ridiclously frustrating because i barely use my PC. but when i do use it, i... Read more

Welcome to the TenForums @alexb24

Sorry to hear about medical issues, all the best.

You may have already tried these solutions, hope I don't add to frustration. Note the last line on AMD HD products.

This seems to have happen rather recently. When you say Windows Upgrade do you mean that you went from V1511 to V1607 or were you on V1607 and it just recently installed the cumulative patch released last week, along with other things?

I ask as I'm thinking two approaches. If you just went through a major update from 1511 to 1607 then if you click on Settings, Updates and Security, Recovery there should be an option to "Go back to an earlier build" (Deal with going forward later.)

If that doesn't work and it was an update that caused the issue you could try System Restore, Windows+R keys, sysdm.cpl, System Protection tab, System restore. I would pick a restore point before the release January 10, 2017.

If you do a System Restore I would do it disconnected from internet. I would then tell windows to stop updating drivers. I would also tell Windows to stop driver updates if you go back to 1511.

To disable driver updates, Control Panel, System and Security, System, on left Advance System Settings, Hardware Tab, Device Installation settings, click No. This may cause a menu to open. Pick I’ll decide

One way or another, assuming one works, note the driver version for AMD card as you may need it. All AMD HDxxx products are on legacy support (Going End Of Life).

Hi,I purchased the Lenovo Twist two month ago.Recently, I found three white spots (known as pressure points) on my screen,so I sent it to the depot for warrant service. The service center said the white spots were caused by a physical damage such as a strong pressure,so it could not be covered by warranty and I should pay about $700 to fix it. I am very careful with my laptop and do not believe the white spots were due to strong pressure. If they were caused by a regular touching on the screen (since Twist is touch-available screen), it must be manufacturing defect. Any suggestions for this issue? Or should I just give up and learn to live with them?

Dear friends I have this problem, please check photo

How I can solve this problem.
I have experienced this problem in windows 8.1 and now in windows 7 (I downgrade the system to 7)

I think is not a graphics problem, because if I connect the laptop to a lcd monitor, the line disappears.
The line appears randomly . Sometimes appears for more than 48 hours continuously , and sometimes disappears in 30 minutes. Sometimes appears every day . Sometimes the line does not reappear in 5 or 6 days. But this problem is disgusting , it bothers me a lot .

Answer:Lenovo Z580 - Vertical white line on screen randomly appears, how to solve this problem?

Hi Lenovari,

Welcome to the Forums

As per the query we understood that you are facing issues with line on screen.

As you have mentioned that there is line on screen and if you connect an external monitor it disappears, boot the system into BIOS and check for the issue if the line appears in the BIOS as well then it is issue with the LCD, please visit the nearest authorised service center for further details.

Dell Inspirion m5030 white screen at boot up. Had 8 beeps a few times as well.

Checked all cables for loose items, none found

replaced LCD cable, no effect on problem

plugged into external monitor, system works fine, issue is only with laptop lcd screen output.

on occasion the lcd screen works, flickers, and then goes out again.

any ideas? replaced motherboard sometime back when it failed, been ok since. is it worth changing out the lcd screen? or could something else be loose or making poor contact....

Answer:White screen on boot up for z400 ideapad

hi AnjaD,

Welcome to the Forums.

When you said the machine goes into a white screen, do you mean you instantly get this white screen and not even a lenogo logo after powering up the machine? If yes, have you considered changing the angle of the screen or attaching an external display to see if you can get an image?

Getting a white screen after powering up the machine maybe caused by a faulty LCD or LCD Cable (especially if you get a display when you tilt the screen or attaching an external display).

If you don't get a display even after attaching an external monitor then the culprit is likely with the GPU (which is integrated with the CPU). In this case, you may need to contact lenovo for service.

I have a Toshiba Satellite 1805, what would cause a no-boot, no-beep, no-bios screen condition, where all I see is a black screen with a white line on the left. I hear fans, lights show for power, battery, charging, etc. Will not boot from CD, nothing. Is it the screen or something? Is it worth even repairing?

I bought this HP mini used. The HP Mini now has a white screen, won't boot up. I was able to connect to an external monitor and it worked for awhile, meaning it booted and loaded the OS and all seemed well. But now it doesn't boot at all. I disassembled the (entire computer) screen to make sure all was connected properly and it appears to be. When powered on, you can hear what is either the fan or the HDD. Unless someone has an idea of what is wrong, I'm thinking possibly it's the motherboard and it will need replacing. I re-seated the memory module. The OS is Windows 7 Starter.

Ideas?

Thanks

Answer:HP Mini has White Screen and Won't boot up (No POST)

Are you sure it isn't booting? Perhaps you no longer have a display which would indicate the video chip has died.

What model HP mini? You might be able to boot a linux live DVD or a USB stick. If you see a display with that booting, then it isn't the GPU.

hi actually, i installed linux (ubuntu 8) on my aser 5532 (windows 7) few days ago.yesterday after installing flash & java for the web cam, i restarted it n went to windows 7 but it crashed giving blue screentoday i started its recovery to acer e-recovery system... i managed to mend it but after going through initial set ups n then while on windows 7 , it itself installed drivers. etc and rebooted but to my surprise it booted till acer logo and then comes the white screen, it repeatedly goes on n on booting from acer logo to white screen, acer logo to whiote screen.i have tried to press f8 so many times but its not working...only f2 works... tried different booting options but it didnt work.sadly, i dont have the recovery CD as i never made onewhat to do, plz guide , i am in a messRegardsDr Fakhar Shah

Answer:aspire 5532 screen on boot up goes white

try installing the drivers from the driver cd, although thats not likely to help much its woryh a try, you need to contact acer, and get a recovery dvd as your linux installation has obviously damaged your setup, you could also try booting from a linux boot disk and resetting your partitions, to ntfs, been careful not to touch the hidden partition.i hate computers!but cant help myself....
