N21 replacement board verified mode loop

Question: N21 replacement board verified mode loop

I replaced a N21 board last week because the headphone jack was dead. Usually I replace the board and run the RMA shim to update the serial numbers and run the tests. This particular instance the motherboard ignored the RMA shim and booted right into ChromeOS. I hit ESC REFRESH POWER to powerwash the thing and force it to boot from the RMA shim. No luck. It just tells me I'm not in verified mode - reboots - and tells me developer mode has been disabled. If I try to power wash it will not register that I hit CTRL+D (even with usb keyboard). Any suggestions?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So, when I started my laptop this morning I got the error:

"A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged....... error 0xc0000428."

I hit 'Enter' and it takes me to the screen to select an OS and the only one available is Windows 7 Home Premium. I can either hit F8 to supposedly select advanced options or enter to boot Windows 7. There are NO tools listed or boot options listed like there normally is. I'm just able to hit 'enter' or F8 and both of them take me back to that orignal error screen. Basically, I'm stuck in a loop between those two.

I tried my Windows 7 recovery CD but it still just takes me to these two screens and I can't get out of it.

I have searched other forums and threads and there is help for this issue, but everyone is able to use their recovery CD and I cannot.

Answer:winload.exe digital signature not verified & boot manager loop

Boot from Windows 7 recovery CD. Then select "command prompt". Where is bootmgr file?

attrib c:\bootmgr
attrib d:\bootmgr
attrib e:\bootmgr

Is it on C,D or E? Assume on E

Code:

attrib -s -h e:\bootmgr
del e:\bootmgr
Now perform a "startup repair"

okay since my old board died I need to find Intel SE7210TP1-E Sever board  but the place were I got it doesnt carry it anymore any other places I could try?  Geeks an tiger dont have it.

Answer:Board Replacement

Ebay has always been a good place to find items like this....just be sure it has a warranty and the seller has 99% or better feedback rating, and that the shipping rates are realistic....Sometimes a board is only $70 and then the shipping is $50.00 etc... Anyone urgent to purchase might click BUY and then say great I just paid $120 for a $90 motherboard elsewhere and get ripped off by $30.I never made that mistake, but I am sure others have...especially items for a penny or dollar that are way under priced until you see the shipping brings its cost into check with what it should cost or even more than you would pay elsewhere.

I need to find a replacement Motherboard which I can use a AMD Duron 1.6GHz 266FSB, PC2700 DDR 333MHZ, for WinXP, with intergrated Audio & Video.I have to return the Asus A7V8X-MX SE board due to a widely known fault with this M/board.The motherboard I need to get must come from click here or click hereSo can someone help me in a search for a motherboard which has built in VGA and takes a Duron with PC2700 DDR memory please.

Answer:Replacement M/board help for AMD platform.

I'm a bit puzzled as to why you would want a board with built in VGA, you can buy a graphics card for about 15, not a great one certainly but more than adequate when compared to a lot of the onboard VGA. Anyway have a look atclick herethis is PC index it will give you quite a few companies including Aria and Microdirect although it doesn't give you all their motherbaords but its a place to start. If you go back to the PC index home page you can specify which companies stuff you want to look at if you wish. You want to find a motherboard with vga in the description.

Do I have to disable on board graphics before installing PCI graphics card and, if so, how do I do this ? Presumably using BIOS settings which will frighten the life out of me !!!

Answer:On board graphics replacement.

It may well be that you do not have to disable the onboard graphics just install the new card and see that it is installed. If so shut down and move the cable from the onboard graphics to the pci card.If the system objects then Reboot and press the key listed to go into the bios it is often delete or F1. just enter each page in turn until you see the onboard graphics entry then press usually page up/page down to change the entry it will probably say enable/disable. Press esc to shut each page and then click on save changes and exit.

I have a T30 type 2366-86U that I believe has a bad system board (plug in the new charger and the only thing that lights up is the battery indicator- plus I can smell the plastic getting hot- pretty sure its the board) The tag says 236-86U. I can get a replacement real cheap off one of those bid sites but its a 2366-FBU. How interchangeable are the boards? I've been through the KB and read the HMM but there isn't any information about the antiques I'm working with! Anyone know if the two boards (or any other 2366 model) will fit in the machine? Thanks

Answer:T30 system board replacement

They should be entirely interchangeable - a quick search on the support-site shows that all the entries for both computers (both the 86U and the FBU) links to the exact same documents - so I think there's very little difference in these two, apart from the manufacturing date.I might be wrong, of course, but I don't think I am.

I have an old Gateway P5-133 computer with an Evergreen MX-Pro 200 cpu upgrade on an American Megatrends system board.
I was in the process of upgrading it with a larger hard drive, WinME, a couple of USB ports, potentially more RAM etc. and was experiencing intermittent episodes of it not booting up. My new machine's monitor, which I used while working on this old POS, was saying there is no video signal coming from the old computer. A new video adapter produced the same message, so I am assuming the system board croaked. It did boot fine following the installation of the new HD and ME.
What would be a suitable replacement if you would be so kind as to enlighten me? I can return the PCI Video and USB adapters but not the Maxtor 80GB Ultra ATA/133 drive and ME.
Regards,
Doug

GoofyGimp

Welcome to TSG! As far as a replacement board, you are probably wasting your time. My suggestion would be to keep the video you bought, the hard drive and the floppy. The rest is very outdated. Your board is a socket 5 board with no real replacement out there. The case and power supply will be of no use on a newer board (probably an AT form factor). The evergreen chip will only fit a socket 5 board and you can go much much faster with a low end $30 duron processor. The memory is probably 70ns dram and will not be able to be used in a newer board. Not really much you can save. Your choices are to look at used computer shops for an old socket 5 board or to shell out a couple of bucks for a bare bones system.

unplugged elect cord of phone from voltage surge protection, computer went off but light stayed on.  I've been told it was my mother board,  This machine has stuff I need and I  would like very much to fix it.  Does anyone know where I can get this done?

Answer:MOTHER BOARD REPLACEMENT

A local computer repair shop is the best bet, but for a computer that old, it will probably cost more than it is worth.  Best option is to salvage the data from the hard drive onto a working PC.  Easiest way to do that is to remove the hard drive from the old Pavilion A6400 and connect it to a working PC.  If it is just to retrieve the data, an adapter similar to this will work nicelyhttps://www.amazon.com/AGPtek-Drive-Adapter-Converter-External/dp/B00BIE996S/ref=pd_sim_147_2?_encod...

I wanted to make a new thread, not only thanking Tuus, but to let others know that it is possible to get a fix for dead or dying T61s. There are other threads on this but I'd like to share my experience. I got my T61p about 4 years ago and it had worked like a charm, with only a minor battery issue, for all those years. A few months ago (while abroad in the UK) it just decided to quit on me. The bios beeps on booting said it was a video chip issue, and that's exactly what was up. Thankfully my HD wasn't affected and I waited until I was home to figure out what to do. After loads of searching on the issue (which is prevalent) I saw posts on here thanking Tuus and about the fix. So I sent him a message which he quickly replied to. He explained that these boards (prior to 08/08) have a known faulty nvidia chip and they usually kick it earlier than mine did. I have started PC gaming more in the few months before it died so I assume it was a heat issue, which I now keep an eye on using TPfancontrol. Through contacting Tuus I got my hands on an 08/08 system board with the entire bottom case along with it. It was a lengthy process to take apart my old machine and put the new bottom on, but if you follow the manual on Lenovo's site for your system, it's a piece of cake. Just set aside an hour or two and you'll be fine. The best advice I can give to stay organized with it all is to print the pages you need from the manual, and then tape the parts/screws to the corresponding ... Read more

Last night I tried to replace the mother board on my Dell Inspiron 5000e laptop. I bought the replacement part from an Ebay store, and it is still under warranty (90 days). After taking apart my entire laptop and putting the whole thing back together--a job that took my friend and I three hours--we plugged it in for the moment of truth. The battery light came on, so far so good. Then we hit the power button and...nothing happened. Well almost nothing. The machine appeared to turn on. All three lights on the the bottom of the LCD went on, but that's it. The fan didn't start, the monitor didn't start. The hard drive light was on but didn't appear to be reading at all. (i.e. no blinking or noise.) I'm quite perplexed. Everything appeared to go back together perfectly with the possible exception of the diskette drive cable clip, which we weren't exactly sure whether to put back in over, under, or through the disk drive data cable. We eventually put it through. For instructions and pictures of the process, check out link:

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/pblan/removing.htm

Everything else seemed to go back together seemlessly. We were very careful with screws and put all the right sizes back into their correct places. What could be causing this? Have I received a defective part? Are there any other explanations? I suppose a possible explanation is that the processor and/or video board are not quite connected correctly, but they seemed t... [Problem Description]
PC won't boot. Power (when connected to everything) only powers up motherboard and any cards attached to it. IDE drives show no sign of life.
However, if you disconnect IDE cables from the motherboard the IDE drives come to life.
If you disconnect power from the motherboard, and hotwire the motherboard power plug, the IDE drives will power up.

Tried motherboard with 3 different power supplies, same problem with all of them. Can't check CPU as don't have any other boards. Memory is fine, or appears to be as changing them made no difference.

Tried the board without any PCI (except agp graphics) cards plugged in, still had the same problem.

Not sure what else to do.

[Scenario]
I moved to London from Melbourne Australia and had to get my PC shipped over. I would have taken it on board as hand luggage, but i wasn't allowed, so I had to have it freighted over as excess baggage on another flight.
It had plenty of padding so I thought it would be fine. It looks as though everything was fine except for what appears to be one largish dimple in the cardboard where it looks like it hit something. So there is a possibility of damage.

Any ideas anyone? I probably should have posted this under didou... Read more

the same as TOSHIBA EQUIUM M70-173 MOTHERBOARD K0000333860.

or can i get a list of boards that will fit the Equium m70-337.

I think it is the same. As far as I know Satellite M70 was offered with two hardware configurations:
- Satellite M70 with part number PSM70E and Intel graphic card
- Satellite M70 with part number PSM71E and ATI graphic chip

Your notebook must be identical with PSM70E so I?m 99,9% sure it is the same mainboard so you can use it.

I have an x61 tablet. It is a few years old, no warranty. It is a 7767 59U model. Last week I opened the case, it woke up from sleep for about two seconds, then the blue screen of death appeared. Now when I try to start it, I get four series of four beeps. This code equates to "System Board (Security Chip)". The computer stays powered on and the fan runs until I unplug it and take out the battery. I really like the x61, and do not want to spend the money for a new one. I'm looking for an 'economy' fix. I understand that the security chip is on the mother board, and that the error code can be somewhat ambiguous. I did strip down the computer and look for loose components, but found none. It seems that the best solution for me would be to get a used motherboard and install it. Does anybody know of a better solution, or additional diagnosis I could do? The system won't start up at all so the software diagnostics are not an option. What are the odds that another system board would fix it? Then, my next question would be what options do I have in replacing the mother board. There are many available on ebay, but not a 7767 59U. How far from the original can I stray. I'd love to upgrade it to a faster model. Are all the 7500 series boards interchangeable? There is no good list available. It is integrated graphics. Most people don't use AMT or TPM so for most, these don't matter, but I believe (no guarantee) that 63Y1483 has both, so it would work in any T410 with intel graphics.

It turns out that i would have to replace my whole graphics card and my mother board. I was told that my warranty will not cover the cost of the replacement and i was extremely dissapointed. The replace the drivers i was given a rough estimate to S$500.  I am here today to request for help to replace my drivers. I am a student from Ngee Ann Polytechnic and my final year exams are in a few months. I am in an engineering course and i really need my graphics card to be fixed so that i can use my laptop to prepare for my exams. I still have my warranty and i really wish that you guys are able to waiver the cost of fixing my laptop so that i am able to do my assignments and prepare for my exams. I beg of you to help me, so that i can do my parents proud. Please help! Thanks,Shaun.

Hello, I recently bought a faulty Acer S3-391, that I wanted to fix. The problem was with the iSSD board, as soon as you turned the PC on, the board started overheating, one of the chips was faulty, from measuring the heat, I guess it was either power regulating chip, or the ssd controller chip, the device turned off after about 30-60 seconds after that. Since the price of this board is aproximatelly as high as an entire functional laptop, I dediced not to buy this one, but the similiar one, that had a mSATA slot and integrated wifi, otherwise it looked the same, connectors were also the same and it fitted the notebook nicely, everything went smooth, but I encountered a problem when I turned on the laptop. the battery wasnt charging. I measured the voltages on the battery and of the three cells, each had 0.8V, which means about 2.4V together, missing 8V for total 11.1V as the battery specs say so.I left it recharge over 24hours, but nothing happened, any ideas? Thanks

Answer:Acer Aspire S3-391 iSSD board replacement

Was it charging before you replaced the "iSSD board"? If it was, then the board is the problem.Maybe the "wrong" board is causing something to get crossed or shorted.

About a month ago my main board (GA-Z77X-UD3H) started to fail for some odd reason and ive been wanting to replace it since, but now ive beought myself a mini itx RVZ01 case and SFX-L power supply to make a small gaming oriented build and finally replace my motherboard, but i cant seem to make up my mind on which motherboard to buy, having in mind that im running on a gtx 670 and an i5 3570k processor, which is not that powerfull for todays standars, and i dont want to waste a lot of money.

My initial thoughts were on buying this motherboard
Amazon.com: ASUS DDR3 Intel Z77 2400 Socket Motherboard P8Z77-I DELUXE/WD: Computers & Accessories

but then again ive found a lot of cheap options like this
Amazon.com: ASUS P8H61-I R2.0 LGA 1155 Intel H61 HDMI USB 3.0 Mini ITX Intel Motherboard: Computers & Accessories

My main concern is that the cheap alternatives wont keep up with the gpu and cpu and i dont plan on making any serious upgrades since i would have to replace the entire pc components for it to be worth the huge next gen investment. (EDIT) Ill post my original specs somewhere; not using win 7 anymore btw.

So my question is: Any suggestions? What should i buy? (having in mind that im using an 1155lga cpu and a mini itx case) Im looking for anything under 200$ but when it comes to choosing i simply cant make up my mind and would really appreciate some help.

Answer:Need suggestions on a Mini ITX 1155 board replacement.

I just bought and installed the Asus P8H61-I R2.0 board to build a new system using some old parts I had lying around (an i3-2100 cpu and 4GB of DDR3 memory.
It is very impressive board, and Asus has an excellent reputation.

One thing about this MB, it only has one expansion slot (a PCIe x16) so you can add your graphics card if you want but that's it.

My motherboard died on my X1 Carbon Gen 1.  I sent it to lenovo and the repair estimate was ~$750.  I decided to replace it myself but the part for my system FRU 04X0495 (W8P,i7-3667U,8G,F,AMT,TPM,MT) new are quite expensive.  I found a new systemboard FRU 04Y1988 (W8P,i7-3667U,8G,F,AMT,TPM) at a much more reasonable price and installed that.  I now have a working machine (new machine type 3448-3Y2) but no touchscreen (I assume the MT stands for touch monitor or something).Question, and I think I know the answer, Is there any way to convert or add to my new systemboard the touch screen capability?  I assume it is not just the driver?thanks,

I have an Emachine T-3092 and need to replace mother board and CPU potentially due to a failure. Have not replace one before. Need to know suggested motherboard as I could not find it on E-Machine website. Thanks.

Answer:Emachine T3092 Mother Board Replacement

You will most likely end up replacing everything except the case. Any ATX or mini-ATX board should fit. How many PCI slots do you have now? 3? The power supply should be changed while your at it... Just deside what processor and memory you want to use, and select a motherboard that will run it.

What is the correct procedure for replacing the MB battery? Power off? etc. I have a alton m760v MB that reverts back to cmos defaults after being unplugged for a couple of days. Is this normal, I have 2 that do the same thing. Old batteries ?

Answer:Mother board battery replacement procedure?

CMOS should only reset if there is something wrong, or if a battery is bad.

Replacing it is just as you said - unplug power, take out the old one, put in the new one.

I have a HP Pavillion x360 (13z-a000) that I bought two years ago.  The CPU is dead.  The computer does not power on and the Caps Lock button blinks constantly (single blink).  I brought it to a local shop and they confimed this but they do not fix HP.  If it is the motherboard, can I just buy one and replace it myself?  Where can I buy the mother board?  How do I find the part number?

Answer:Pavillion x360 mother board replacement

Here is the Manual: Service Manual There are 4 different AMD motherboard depending on if you have the A8 processor or the A6 and Windows Standard or Pro. Get the same Windows version as you have or you will have to buy another copy of Windows. Your hard drive installation of Windows will not activate unless you install a motherboard set up for the same OS version. Post back if you need a more detailed explanation. Yours is a CTO laptop so we cannot just look up your original factory specs. You can interchange the A6 and A8 version of the motherboard with the caveat stated above. The Manual shows the "how-to" on replacement. Assuming you have the A8 and Windows Standard this is the part number: 769075-501 This is it on US amazon.com for $109 which is a pretty fair price: https://www.amazon.com/HP-Pavilion-Convertible-Motherboard-769075-501/dp/B0118AZL1S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UT... Post back with any more questions.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

Hello! I have a lenovo X61T which recently had a system board die, After a repair by a local warranty service shop (CompuCom), we found that the Wireless (and fingerprint scanner..) were not working. It seems as though the LED for my bluetooth on the monitor comes on and works fine, i can power cycle that from the FN-F5 combo, but whenever i attempt to power on the Wifi, it does not come on. I keep pressing power on, and it never responds. I can not verify the fingerprint sensor is working, but i was able to power up, scan and connect to wifi networks from this card without any problem from my Ubuntu install on a seperate volume which had no issues with the new system board. So the wifi card is working in linux, so that leads me to think that it is vista (32-bit business) that is having the problem here is what i have done: Uninstalled and reinstaled the drivers (did not delete the driver software, should i try that?)Ran a system update (found that the new system board bios needed an update, but otherwise i keep my system up to date, checking monthly at least for new updates)Deactivated the TPM (Client Security Solution) completely (Next maybe i need to reset that?) I don't know what could be causing the issue, I did attempt to configure an Access Connection profile and specify the wireless network and such, but i get an error saying that the wireless radio is powered off and press repair to fix the issue, this does not work I did log t... My X1 died on me and, according to the sheet of paper that came back from the repair center, had its system board replaced. Unfortunately, when booting, I get a prompt for a bitlocker recovery key - and the key I have (confirmed with Microsoft) is not working. The key id shown on the recovery screen is also different. I've spent about 40 minutes on the phone now with Lenovo support, and haven't gotten anywhere - how can I get back into my machine? It would appear that, since the hard drive was not replaced, I should still be able to get in with my existing key, or am I missing something there?

Dell Optiplex GX270 with P4, 2.8-GHz, socket-478 processor.

I have a Dell Optiplex GX270 sytem with a bad board (several swollen, bleeding, and bursted caps). I went to Pricewatch.com and did a search for Dell Optiplex GX270 motherboard and came up with boards in this link:

http://www.pricewatch.com/search?q=dell+optiplex+gx270+motherboard

They are all for Optiplex GX270; but, some seem to have different other numbers associated with the GX270 and I am now not sure if I can use just any one of these or if I should choose a certain one of the group,

Example: One says GX270 (FG015), another says GX270 (X1105), and another GX270 (U9268), another GX270 (DG279 and finally GX270 SFF(T7294).

Do these other numbers make any difference? I don't see any nombers that resemble those on the bad board I have here.

I replaced the system board on my IBM thinkpad 600E because the original problem was that everytime the system booted up it would keep going to the time (time would not stay). I know that there is a battery on the system board but I figured it would be less of a hassle if I just replace the system board. I did that and now the system will not boot up. The LED's come on and I hear the fan run but nothing will show up on the screen. What should I do?

Answer:IBM Thinkpad 660E will not boot after System Board Replacement

Are you sure the replacement board was not broken? Maybe you did something wrong when putting the thing back together again?

Just take the thing apart again and try your previous mobo. If that works, try with the new one again.

Answer:Unknowing victim of emachine, board replacement, socket 754/478

Dude, get a grip. I know less about computers now than before I read your post.

I thought that socket 478 was Intel (Pentium Celeron), now I come to find out that it's AMD.

An AMD Sempron 3000 only comes in one speed, if it's another speed, then it has a different number.

All of the s*** you mention is beyond obsolete, so maybe it's time for a whole 'nuther computer. Please, I heartily suggest that you avoid attempting to build a machine, at least in your current state of mind.

I don't think that any of us here are really equipped to deal with the anxiety, angst, or incoherent and rambling thought patterns you have exhibited thus far, let alone what you're trying to pass off as sentence structure.

BTW, my Emachines T-5026 just reached its 5th birthday. If you'd like to check in and wish it many happy returns, (pun not intended), here's the link; http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic143315.html

I would argue that it is not really possible to be an "unknowing victim" of Emachines.

You bought it because it was cheap, cheap s*** breaks. So where's the surprise, the mystery, or the unpredictability?

Bought an M93P online last month with Windows 8.1 Standard pre-installed. There is no COA sticker, but the BIOS System Summary showed "License Status:  SDKxxxxxxx STD" which I assume was my Windows 8.1 key. The on-board NIC failed. A technician just replaced the motherboard. Now the BIOS shows "License Status: No DPK". Windows 8.1 still shows as activated, but I will be downgrading to Windows 7 for now, so I may need to re-activate Windows 8.1 later. I found this document about entering the Digital Product Key but I don't have an activation window like the one shown. This document says the DPK is  "added during manufacturing" but that's what I seem to have lost. How do I get the DPK back onto the system board after a system board replacement? Thanks, Mark

Answer:M93p License Status "No DPK" after system board replacement

Called support. They said the DPK is on the Windows 8 media and will will be copied to the motherboard if I re-image from the Windows 8 media. In the meantime, it will just show "No DPK" on the motherboard.  I'll go with that,, but if anyone has direct experience/knowledge on this, I'd like to hear it.

Hey, About 5 months ago i decided to swap my HDD for an SSD, for some extra speed. However, when opening the laptop i broke the ribbon cable off the power button board. In the last 5 months i tried buying a replacement from ebay. I have bought boards from 3 different sellers, and not one of them worked. They all showed the same behavior; plugging and then unplugging the cable from the motherboard started the computer, and as soon as i put the cable back in, the computer shut down. I used a multimeter to see what was going on, and it turns out the new boards did not switch anything, whereas the original board switched when the button was pushed (of course). Is there a way i can purchase an official replacement?  Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I have just installed a new motherboard on my F10-124.
This was the upgraded PCB P000415760 (Part number P000454980) as the graphics card failed - again!!

The documents that came with it tell me to update the Bios, EC/KBC (SVP Parameters) and write the new DMI. At the moment the VGA controller is not recognised, and no CD drive is listed.

Can this be updated by myself, without having to send it away to an ASP, as its not worth the money if I do. I just want to use this as an additonal PC for my daughter to use.

Surely I should be able to update the Bios from a download or something from the toshiba support site.

Any help appreciated.

Answer:Qosmio F10 Main Board Replacement - Update BIOS etc

The new BIOS is on the Toshiba website, and I believe a different Recovery Disc needs to be used.

Or you can simply install Ubuntu, which should detect the hardware automatically. http://www.ubuntu.com/

I would like to say thanks to Tuus for his assistance in obtaining a replacement system board for our T61 that had a failed nvidia chip.  We missed the Lenovo deadlines and were on our own, Tuus made it easy. He supplied a board with the Intel chip set and the fan/heat sink.  When the board arrived I pulled the unit down to nothingness and rebuilt. It took about 2 hours form start to finish. I looked at the lenovo repair training videos for a few wire routings and generally everything went well.   One item of note is our unit is a wide screen and it has 4 screws for the hinge.  The video does not show two of the four, but it was not a big deal to find the empty holes. The board booted and I set the requisite bios settings and we were off and running. The graphics came right up no problem even though drives were not loaded.  I let it update through the thinkvantage update and windows update.  Took an eternity (note to self run the thinkvantage update more frequently).  The Intel gpu drivers did not automatically load, so I went to the lenovo downloads and installed them manually.  No big deal. The machine is up and running and the Intel gpu is more than adequate for our needs. To those who have some ability, do not be afraid to go this route.  It is doable and you can save an otherwise nice piece of equipment.

Answer:T61 type 7662 system board replacement- thanks Tuus

I've been experiencing bad audio high latency (drop outs) ever since my x220 system board was replaced (due to a faulty displayport connector).  So far, three replacement boards have been fitted to no avail.  it appears to be connected in some way to the LAN adaptor/ driver because the latency stops when the cable is unplugged.  I have experimented with different network drivers (eg the latest one from intel's site) I know of at least one other end-user (of a T420) who reported  the same problem but I'm wondering if the issue has been reported elsewhere at all? Thanks...

I would like to know the escalation point beyond customer relationship manager. Complaint - Lenovo - Ideapad 460p - - Case # WN433580 Below is the email content that I wrote to lenovo support on 01/Feb/2011 followed by multiple emails to customer relationship manager no result. What I am asking for is to replacement if they cannot rectify. The machine is still under warranty. Laptop - Idea pad 460PPre-condition - Battery has a charge of greater or equal to 95%Issue - Plug the laptop to the power supply. The battery icon displays "Plugged in, not charging" and the battery does not charge at all. After sometime, if I unplug and use my laptop with battery charge, it does not last for long. I am writing this email to bring this to you attention on the concern that I have, the way the issue with my laptop is dealt with. This is the worst ever experience that I ever had/have with technical support and customer relationship manager. None of them have really understood the issue and I get different answers from different people and none of them were convincing and correct. I am disappointed, why I purchased a laptop from Lenovo. I would have gone with Dell which I had earlier for more than 5 years without any trouble. Here are the details of the issue. The laptop was purchased last year (in Apr 2011). In Oct 2011, I reported an issue with technical support (Case # WN433580). The call with technical support lasted almost an hour and half and he ... Read more

Answer:Solution not Provided - Replaced Mother Board and Battery - Asking for Replacement

Hello and welcome,

Do you still experience very short battery run time?  If you are concerned about not charging when over 95% - that may be a simple setting in the power manager.  It is done that way to preserve battery health.

If you don't get reasonable run-time, that's another problem entirely.

Logged on as Administrator and uninstalled the touchpad driver and installed the latest driver already - did not resolve the issue. Connected a USB mouse and it works. Suggestions?

hey jvanmaas, I would recommend going to the following link :http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-72514check the versions here with the version installed on your N500. If there is a difference, i recommend uninstalling the software first before installing the latest version.

I bought a Y560 i7 15 month ago. It developed a problem yesterday. When I plug in the A/C adaptor, the laptop did not charge but continue to run on the battery only until the battery was drained at very fast rate, from fully charged to dead in less than ten minute! I down loaded the "hardware maintainance manua" and followed the diagnose procedure which tells me the system board needs to be replaced. The A/C adaptor still put out 19.7 volt at the plug and seem to be perfect. When I remove the dead battery and plug in A/C, the laptop did not boot at all, seems to me the charging controller went bad on the system board. Can this circuit be replaced instead of the whole system board which is very expensive. I hate Lenovo put out junks in the market lately after the Chinese company took control. I have an old IBM X61 tablet I bought more than five years ago and it is still good. This is a perfect case the Chinese company has no respect for quality and only want to take advantage of US consumers. Appreciate anyone has some experience in this area. I do not think it is fair to replace the motherboard only in 15 month.

Answer:Y560 i7 laptop went dead less then a year and half old, need system board replacement

It was a shame that the solder joint from the DC power input to the charge control was so poor it got burned out. Shameful Lenovo put out junk that broke in 15 month!

My newly purchased y500 laptop has developed hanging problem and mother board replacement was advised by lenovo service engineer. 20 days have passed but mother board has not yet arrived in India leave alone the repairs and testing. How many days it will take?

Answer:how much time Lenovo takes for replacement of mother board under warranty (Y500)

hi ukjain,

Welcome to the Forums.

Usually. if the the spare part(s) are not available for the repair, there should be an ETA/ETS on the spare parts before the service team starts the computer repair. I recommend you ask for the ETA/ETS as this is normally the basis before the service center schedules the computer for repair and also to give you an idea how long will it take before you get the computer back from the service center.

Question: XP Safe mode loop

I'm trying to fix a problem on my other PC. I was told to restart into safe mode, and run malware bytes to finish off the process, but when I tried restarting in safe mode it wouldn't let me select anything and would just send me back to the log in screen. I ended up looking online to see if there was a way to specifically log out and back on into safe mode without doing the f8 thing, since for some reason my keyboard wasn't working on that screen. The solution I found though had me do something with Run, and now that computer is in an infinite loop of restarting it's self onto the screen that's supposed to let me pick safe mode. Once it times out and sends me back to the log in screen it will restart it's self and try again... how can I stop this?

Answer:XP Safe mode loop

Sounds like your little metal machine is trying to do something it can't... i'd try pushing f2 and booting from your xp cd... try repair windows... it will come up with something but i can't say for sure... if it doesn't.... rebuild windows.

Question: safe mode loop

Hi, recently my computer has been acting a little laggy, ex. not doing anything for a while when I try to shut it down. A bit later several symptoms came up, included a crash and restart, termination of explorer.exe, etc., so I knew I had malware on my hands. I used Superantispyware to complete scan and deleted everything it detected, but I still had the symptoms... anyway, I tried to boot into safe mode, which didn't work. here was my big mistake. I used the "bootsafe" feature of superantispyware, which I assume edits boot.ini to automatically start in safe mode. now everytime i try to start up my computer, it tries to start into safe mode, doesn't work, restarts, and cycles again. I have a xp cd, which i tried to use the recovery console of, but it stated "no hard disk drives found", and told me to check if the drives were on. i suspect the xp on the cd is a little older than the one on my computer. please help, I REALLY don't want to reformat, as I have priceless photos on my hard drive...

Question: Safe Mode Loop

I was working on a friends computer and HP Pavillion 20 with Windows 8. It had some kind of virus. I was unable to do anything in normal mode so from command prompt I entered safe mode (using "bcdedit /set {default} safeboot network.") Because of how little he had on the computer I ended up doing a system recovery without exiting the safe mode loop. Now the recovery cant finish cause it is set to load into safe mode. However I don't know how to exit the safe mode boot. How do i exit safe mode in this situation?
Thanks
Scott

Answer:Safe Mode Loop

Hi

From an elevated command prompt . enter  bcdedit /deletevalue {default} safeboot

If that didn't work, try bcdedit /deletevalue {current} safeboot

Question: Safe Mode Loop

Yesterday the computer worked fine. Today when I switched on, the bootup goes into the Safe Mode screen. No matter which selection I make, the system makes a bit of effort (windows starting screen etc) and then promptly reboots itself and I end up back at the Safe Mode screen. No changes have been made to the BIOS and the only new programmes loaded within the last day or two was Norton Internet Security 2007 and the 2nd Life Virtual Reality Client update, both worked fine.A blue screen does flash up, but its to quick for me to read (how do you pause a blue screen mid flash????)Any help in sorting this out is greatly appreciated.Fox

Answer:Safe Mode Loop

Auto-reboot disable:When Running windows and it crashes you will get a blue screen and it will automatically restart, often it will restart too fast for you to see the error message. To disable auto restart on system failure, so you can see the error message.1. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> System (Windows+Pause works, too)2. Go to Advanced3. Under the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings...4. Under System Failure un-check "Automatically restart"Post the error message for further help.

Hi,

My desktop was infected with a couple of viruses the other week. During a McAfee scan it removed them. Afterwards I couldnt connect to MSN, update windows or update McAfee, I hadnt used it since.

Last night I tried to reboot into safe mode to clear it completley but it wasnt having and after loading the safe mode modules would restart to normal mode.

I stupidly googled this and in windows configured it to force a safe mode boot on restart. I restarted it and now it is on a constant loop which I cant break by holding f8. It looks as though it is about to show the log in screen in safe mode (i can see the pointer) then restarts and this continues.

The problem is virus related but the initial hurdle is to get it out of this safe mode loop and thereafter find a way to get into safe mode.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Hi,

Machine: hp-compaq dx2390, celeron 2ghz with 1gb ram
o/s: xp SP 3

So a few days ago I installed an app called mobiledit to try and transfer files from my cell phone (motorola v3) to computer. It installed fine, but then asked for phone usb drivers to be installed. I had these from a long time ago from motorola's site, so I installed them. No problems.
Shutdown was fine.
Then I try restart, and the machine gets to the splash screen, the bar progresses 1 or 2 steps, and then hangs and reboots.
Last known config does the same. Safe mode does the same - although while loading the driver files it hangs at the same one each time, and it's some avg.sys file.
I've managed to get onto the c: drive using puppy linux on boot cd and got my data off, but I'd like to recover the machine without re-installing everything.
I've tried repair-install using the Xp cd, but that gets as far as the first required reboot, and then when it reboots it reinitializes the setup again (so it's also looping).

How can I edit the driver files that Windows is trying to load? I'm 99% sure there's a conflict or corrupted driver, and all I need is to figure out which one and disable. I've replaced kernel32.dll from cd, no change to anything.
What other solutions do I have besides re-install? Considering how the repair-install is failing, is that even an option?

All help appreciated.

Answer:Xp boot loop - no safe mode

I see you have SP3. For a Repair Install to work the Windows disc must be a genuine SP3 version (not slipstreamed).

If you have used a Windows XP disc to run a Repair Install which does not have the same Service Pack level (or higher) that is on the PC you have no choice now but to do a clean install as it will have corrupted the installation.

Hi All,

I have a strange problem. My Win7 ultimate x64 is rebooting itself at the welcome/logon screen, in safe mode only. Normal mode is fine.

The reboot happens instantly, after a few seconds at the welcome screen, the screen goes black and the system is rebooted as though I had hit the "reboot" button on the case, with no clean shutdown taking place.

I am at a loss to know what could be starting in safe mode, that _doesn't_ start in normal mode, to cause this.

I have recently done a repair install of windows (the problem was there before that), I have tried replacing the safe mode parts of the registry with clean ones downloaded from an AV vendor website (mcafee if I remember correctly), and have tried doing sfc /scannow which resulted in a corrupted boot.sdi being replaced with the archived copy. None of these have fixed the problem.

Obviously, given that I have a usable normal mode, and good backups, this isn't the biggest problem ever, but it would be nice to get it fixed especially for the next time I need to fix a dodgy driver install or similar.

Can anyone help suggest what I can check next, particularly in regards to understanding the startup process and what will be loading at the welcome screen that might be causing the reboot.

Answer:Safe Mode Reboot Loop

Hello BorisTheSpider Welcome to the Seven Forums!

Downloading parts of the registry wasn't a good move from the start. When booting in Safe Mode you shouldn't be seeing any problems since only the bare essentials in Windows are loading to begin with.

The actual best solution anyone could offer for this would be either restoring a full system image if you made one while Windows was in 100% working order or plan a clean install to get everything back to normal again. Apparently the repair attempts have not fared well for you.

The other tool not mentioned so far you can try out but wouldn't solve the not able to boot in safe mode problem would be scheduling a run of the Check Disk tool. That will scan the main drive for errors but not fix any deep problems in the system registry. A fresh registry seen with a clean install still comes up as the best move.

Ok to make it short, I brought the Desktop 3 days ago and at Monday afternoon there seem to be a problem on my Desktop.

-Endless Reboot when enter Window Loading Screen.
-When try safe mode, the COM boot until CLASSPNP.sys then auto Reboot.
-Try F5 and choose to stop the auto restart, result in Blue Screen of Death appear with this error: *** Stop: 0x0000007B (0X80786B58, 0xc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Spec:

Motherboard-ASUS P7H55
RAM-Winova Memory 4GB*2Gx2*
HDD-WD
Graphic Card-ATI Radeon HD 5570
OS: Window 7 Home Premium

What wrong with it? Can I fix it with out taking back for warranty?

Answer:Reboot loop, Safe Mode also.

I would, firsthand, suspect a pending problem with the hard disk. In which case - take it back!

Hello,

I have been following these sysprep instructions from Microsoft for creating a custom Windows 7 image: Building a Standard Image of Windows 7: Step-by-Step Guide

I'm on step #6 of "Clean Up the Image". I realized after I rebooted it that I could have actually skipped this step, as I do not need to delete any accounts. But after it rebooted, that is where the error "Windows could not complete the installation..." appears. When I reboot, the same thing happens and it goes into an endless loop. I have read elsewhere that this issue can be caused by the Administrator account not being enabled and that it is disabled by default, but I can't boot into Windows to verify.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop Windows from booting into Audit mode without having to re-image and start all over?

Thanks in advance!

I'm pretty sure I have infections, malware and cant fully boot to run programs to clean it up. I have heard that there is a way to boot up without engaging Windows. Is this possible / necessary? Is there another way to boot so that I can get the clean up programs turned on?

I am able to get the safe mode options window. When I choose last known configuration that worked, the Windows screen appears and it goes no further than that. The little "wait I am processing" bar is running across the screen so it looks like something is happening.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Tim Smith
