Dell XPS 9350 swollen battery and out of warranty

Question: Dell XPS 9350 swollen battery and out of warranty

Hi,
I've got a Dell XPS 9350 and the last 2-3 months, I had a bump that gently created itself on the keyboard, I guess it is the battery that has a problem. This also affected the screen, as the keyboard was not flat anymore, I've got spots with dead pixels.
My laptop is sadly out of warranty and my only option when I go to the support is to call the support, but as I bought the computer in Switzerland, it is in German, which I don't speak fluently enough to be able to handle such a discussion.
First of all, did other people had similar problems? What did you do? And do you have any other options I could use to fix this?
Thanks a lot!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The main problem is that is dangerous and toxic and the battery are indeed defective.
I had other brand of notebook (more than 2) ask me for battery change for free after 5 years from acquiring the pc and completely out of the normal warranty.
Why Dell doesn't mind about their notebook users at all?
Why  they cannot change a battery also if i'm willing to pay some money ( for a service that as been done from other brands and have to be done FOR FREE as it is a product defect )

Hi,
I have a XPS 13 (9350) and recently discovered that my trackpad & certain keys were slowly being raised out of place due to a swollen battery. The laptop is already out of warranty by a few months. As a precaution, I removed the battery and have been working off AC ever since.
As an alternative to purchasing a new internal battery, would the Dell Power Companion (12000 mAh - PW7015M) be a suitable alternative? Would I be able to plug this accessory into my battery-less laptop? Or do you need an actual functioning internal battery installed? I'm only mobile (without AC) for a few hours per month so carrying an additional accessory around wouldn't be a big concern for me
Thanks,
MS

Dell has recalled XPS 9550 battery for swollen issue. Bulletin Name: Precision 5510 and XPS 9550 swelling system battery
there are also lots of reports that xps 13 9350 has same problem.
for example, XPS13 Swollen battery and dell xps 13 9350 battery swollen
it's a common issue on xps 9350, dell should recall its battery!

Answer:why xps 13 9350 cannot have a replacement for battery swollen?

The difference is that the 9550 is seeing premature battery failure.  The 9350 failures are due to normal aging and end of life -- a lithium ion battery will run about 18-24 months in a normal lifespan -- and the 9350 systems are of that age or older.  In other words, the batteries are due for replacement.

Hi,
My less than 2 year old (bought in December 2015) XPS 13 9350 has a noticeable bulge underneath the bottom left side of the keyboard that's also warping the trackpad. You can see it in the below photos. I'm worried that this is the battery and that it could explode or catch fire at any time.
What should I do about this?
Thank you.

Answer:XPS 13 9350 keyboard & trackpad bulging from swollen battery?

Remove the battery from the system immediately and get it out of your home or office. Then contact Dell - they are apparently replacing many of these out of warranty and repairing the systems if need be.

Hi!

I'm currently 3 months over warranty. I have recently gotten a raised touchpad caused by a swollen battery. How should I go forward with my problem? I need my laptop daily for school and can't get a replacement laptop meanwhile fixing this problem so this is pretty urgent.

Thanks! -Elias

Answer:Dell xps 15 (9550) swollen battery

Get the battery OUT of the system and out of your home/office/dorm, NOW.
Then call Dell - they may well cover the replacement out of warranty but it may take time -- the system WILL run just fine without a battery installed, but it's a safety issue -- take the battery out of the system immediately.

My employer purchased this workhorse of a laptop for me in Oct 2014 with the premium support package.  Both the warranty and the premium support package expired in Oct 2015 after 1 whole year (yes, 365 days) of said support.
Earlier this year I noticed that the touch pad was not working correctly.  By that I mean it took herculean force to "right click."  If I focused my chi just right, I could left click.  I just attached a mouse and used the touchscreen to compensate and "forgot about" the issue.
Recently I put new thermal paste on the cpu(s) because, you know, performance and "stuff."  It was nigh impossible to get the cover back on and pressing it/screwing it into place did not work...the middle front screw just "popped" off after I'd manhandled (<digression>...as much as a tech could do any "man-handling" of anything...I mean I had to jujitsu-grip the cover in place whilst courageously and precisely screwing the security screw in it's sticking place</digression>)... I was mystified at the cover not sitting correctly (and also by the parenthetical digressions).  I did not dawn on me to consider the battery was swelling like a mini Mount Vesuvius in my lap.  I took the cover off and noticed that the battery was "puffy" and had cracks at the seams like the edges of Sean Comb's identity crisis.

Hi,
We have a Venue 5130 Venue Pro tablet.  Its about a year out of warranty.  I noticed recently that the battery pack had expanded and was expanded from the tablet casing so it wouldn't shut.  I bought a replacement battery (not cheap) but only not started researching what the problem might have been and I can see that other people have had issues with their tables.  The old battery pack has expanded to a worrying extent - and since removal appears to have expanded further.
Advice online seems to be to NOT try recycle this and to treat it carefully as its unstable.  Not sure what to do it with so?   If the battery packs are liable to being unstable how can they be installed in tablets to begin with.  Reading online it would appear that there are issues with such batteries if they are overcharged.  I don't know if that was the problem in my case.  All I know is the batter packy is swollen up to an unreal extent.  See Photo below.
Another problem is Dell Customer Support doesn't appear to be contactable in a tangible way after the 12 month service period is up.  Negotiating the Dell website looking for a way to talk to a human about the problem is frustrating as everything leads to dead-end options, particularly at the weekend.  Not happy with Dell hardware and not happy so far with Dell service
A dissatisfied customer,
Mick

Answer:Dell Venue Tablet Swollen Battery

Most computer shops and most municipal solid waste sites will take back swollen batteries for disposal.   It isn't uncommon for lithium ion batteries to swell when their end of life approaches, just as ordinary alkalines will leak if they're left in a device when they've been used up.  Don't puncture the swollen battery - simply send it off for recycling with a location that can deal with disposing of it.

Hello,
I purchased a Dell XPS 13" 9343 two years ago and my battery just got swollen - one side of the keyboard/pad got lifted. I've contacted the local Dell support, and in addition to that that the guy was rude, he they told me that battery warranty is only for 1 year so they cannot replace it for me.
I find it really disappointing, especially to their top tier laptop series. It's only 2 years and the battery is "dead". I think it is unacceptable for a company like Dell to have that kind of issues and not to solve them although the warranty period has passed.
I am aware that batteries capacity can drop, and their performance is decreasing over time. But in my opinion, swollen batteries is something that shouldn't happen, it's a safety vulnerability.
I really hope that Dell will consider this case again and replace the battery even though the warranty time has passed.

As many other users i also got battery swollen which initially shows up with raised touch pad buttons (and not working anymore).
The interesting thing is that when you send the pictures to dell they advise to replace the touch pad. Many of you could not know that Dell has changed radically approach to service. No authorised shops anymore, YOU MUST yourself turn into an electronic engineer, UNDERSTAND what is broken in your dell PC, request the parts and after delivering they will send a real engineer at your place. 9 times out of 10 the engineers admits the sent parts are wrong and then the whole process of ordering starts up again.
Are we going NUTS? Ask the users to guess the parts that they need to replace on a defective pc?Plus very professional advise, having seen raised touch pad they should immediately have advised to order a new battery, but this is probably asking too much in 2017.Good luck with your DELL guys, a NIGHTMARE made reality. I had a Dell inspiron in 2000 and it was the best laptop ever. NOw....better you transform your business into peanut distribution, lousy company.

Hello,
The track pad on my Dell XPS 15 9550 had been raised or lifted, making it nearly impossible to click down on. Upon bringing my computer to the Microsoft Store, it was revealed the battery is swelling, which is pushing up on the track pad from underneath. The computer is a few months out of warranty.
This is presumably unsafe, and a problem that many other people have encountered and expressed concern about on this forum. There is clearly a problem with these batteries. This should clearly be considered a "Known Issue" and the batteries replaced.
I guess my questions are (1) is this classified as a "Known Issue", and if not, (2) what is the rationale, given the frequency?
I can reference several other posts referencing the same issue to provide evidence of the high frequency of this problem, if needed.
Thank you.

Answer:Dell XPS 13 laptop battery swollen and touchpad lifted.

XPS L321x, 322x?  Which model?
The service manual depends on the exact model, but you should get the battery out of the system ASAP before it swells to the point where it damages the casing, keyboard or palmrest.
Dell generally charges about $170 for any repair other than a screen or mainboard replacement - see here:
www.dell.com/.../out-of-warranty
The battery requires just screwdrivers to change - you can also do it yourself.

I have a faulty 5 month old XPS 13 9350, the laptop is 5 months into a 2 year warranty, the first year is with Dell, the second year is with John Lewis, who we bought it through - we think either the battery has failed, or the motherboard.  The laptop is obviously still under warranty,  If I open the sealed unit to test the battery, and to backup my hard drive will my warranty be voided if I then take it to John Lewis for repair?
I have spoken to John Lewis and they say that if we take it into them, they will send off to Dell for repair and that, due to the Data Protection Act, whatever the problem is with the laptop they will wipe my hard drive??????

Answer:XPS 13 9350 can I open sealed battery unit under warranty???

Hello!  On most models of computers that Dell sells, they allow you to add or remove parts to suit your needs as long as you do not damage them.  You can find the service manual for your laptop here. As for what John Lewis' policies are I'm not sure as I've never heard of them.  Dell will do testing on the battery and motherboard as well as other components based on your issues when they receive the laptop.
As for data, its always a good idea to back up your hard drive.  There are generic steps that companies take when diagnosing computers and other devices and sometimes that requires reloading the OS and other software components to have a 'clean slate', as such they would wipe your hard drive.

I wrote a post on June 2rd 2017 about the dell touchpad issue, which I can't find. I am posting this one as a follow up. I called dell to report the swollen battery and after one year use. This really didn't get me anywhere. They basically told me that it wasn't the battery that was the issue. I removed my battery and it was clearly swollen. I reconnected the laptop without the battery and the touchpad works just fine. I am running the computer just on AC right now without the battery. I ordered the new battery and dealing with this outside dell as they don't recognize this as a manufacturing defect. So, just posting in case this helps someone.

After noticing the trackpad being very lifted (>2mm), I began to search online for possible reasons and found out that many other people have complained about the swelling battery. I opened up the laptop and indeed the battery is bulging like a balloon. All these happening to me right when I am rushing to complete my thesis.
Spoke to Dell online chat service officer and was simply told to contact technical support in UK (I am studying in UK). I am having my fingers crossed after reading many other users' experiences about poor or non-existent help from Dell. Worse still, I am looking for sources to purchase a replacement battery as a last resort in case my call with Dell ends up in despair, and there is none that seem to be reputable or reliable.
Sharing my problem here for the benefit of those yet that come across the same problem, and if I'm lucky, get some help from Dell or fellow users as well. Seems that Dell has not been acknowledging the problem or helping users in this matter which is pretty apparent a battery defect issue. Dell should get its battery supplier to rectify or replace all these problematic parts. It is not just a reputation issue, it is a big safety risk! (I have kids)

hello!
I think I did the worst choice ever... I bought this Dell XPS 13 on last February which was replaced on summer, because I had problem with the grafic card probably ( couldn't connect it to an external display).
This is an i7 proccesor 6560U, 16G ram 512 ssd... and infinity touch display. running win10 pro
the main reason that I bought it was that the battery lasts up to 18 hours like it says to the dell's site.
I am not new to this of cource I know that 18 hours are unreachable but I was hoping at least to 9-11.
on the contrary the battery does not last more than 4-4.30 hours. with normal use... email serfing on the net , youtbe....
I have the latest BIOS of course ...
I had even left the laptop on the Bios screen open to check how long it will last with no apps running in the background ... same result ... 5 hours at most ..
the battery was replaced 2 month ago with no improvment ... same with the new battery as well.
I have turned the touch screen off, bluetooth as well... everything that I could in order to increaase the battery but with no result.
I also run the battery test according to the dell's technicians advise, with the result saying that the battery is in good condition.
According to dell all theese are normal... but for me is unexeptable. My macbook pro is 5 years old and the battery lasts 4 hours !!!!
this is my expirience from the top model of dell!!
any advise before I through it away?

HeyI'm seriously considering buying the XPS 13 QHD, but i'm a bit interested in what kind of battery life people are getting. If the battery life is much better with the FHD I might consider sacrificing touch and QHD for better battery life. Would be nice if it could last through a 8 hour working day.
Would any of you guys mind posting the windows battery report or any thing similar?

Hello all, I just purchased a 9350, win 10 Pro , 4GB ram, 128 SSD. I noticed that the Battery Icon would stop charging at 80%. Shows Connected , not charging at the 80% mark. I have read on the Forums about this being an issue on this 9350! SEEMS TO ME THAT THE BATTERY SHOULD ALWAYS CHARGE UP TO 100%!
So I innstalled the latest 9350 Bios and Power management drivers updates from the Dell seb site.
I thought that would correct the issue but it didnt!
Dell XPS 13 9350 battery cstill stops charging at 80%!!!
I performed the Dell ePSA F12 Diagnostic tests and the battery results are as follows.
Charge cycles 13
Battery Health 93%
Voltage 8420 millivolts, current 2717 ma.
I have also read that after some 9350 owners replaced the battery they were still haveing the issue of the battery not charging to 100%.
Anyone have the same experiences?
Thanks
Rob

Answer:Dell XPS 13 9350 battery charging to only 80%

I'm assuming you installed the latest version of Dell Command | Power Manager (System Utilities) from your Dell Product Support page.....
The battery stop charging at 80% because of the battery settings. Some of the battery settings prevent 100% charge to help extend battery life. Please right click the battery icon, select Dell Command | Power manager, and then Change Settings:

Hi there,
I have a XPS 13 9350 and a strange thing started to happen this week. The keyboard is getting deformed (!!!) like something under it is getting bigger... It's like my notebook is ***!
My first thought is that the internal battery swelling or something... I bought the notebook in the US but I live in brazil and I found that I can't get my warranty over here (despite being told through a support chat that if I bought the Prosupport I would get 8x5 NBD in Brazil).
Fact is, it has less than a year of use, it was hugely expensive and I simply don't know what to do... does anyone know how to get in touch with their Brazilian support line? Every time I try to get support from the site it redirects me to US support. I would to at least get a quote on fixing it...

Thanks in advance!

Answer:Dell XPS 13 9350 Deforming Keyboard (battery?)

You first need to transfer ownership to Brazil.  Transferring the warranty requires (1) that the model is sold in Brazil, (2) that you purchased (or purchase now) an upgrade to an onsite warranty.

Hi,
This is my second post regarding my XPS 13 9350 in one week, as it seems to be having lot of issues ! I was previously facing issue with sleep mode, it wasnt going to sleep at all. But after updating BIOS to 1.2.3, it sort of recovered from that problem.
Now, yesterday night I closed the lid with 65% battery life, expecting it to go to sleep(Set to go to sleep when lid off). In morning, when I reached the bag, I felt like the laptop was literally burning !!! It was so hot to touch, and the led light in front was giving orange/yellow in color !! When I opened the lid, the lock screen appeared, which shouldnt be the case as it should have been in hibernation, which indicates the machine was not off at all !! The battery life was indicating 7% !! From 65% to 7%, that too when was put to be off !
This are some serious concerns for a premium product like XPS 13 9350. I am expecting a proper solution to this malfunction issue of the product.

Answer:Dell XPS 13 9350 severe bug and battery drainage issue !!!

UPDATE : Ok , now the battery life has dropped down to 4 Hours 30 Minutes !! Also the device is really heating up while using, I can feel the heat at the edge of the display and keyboard. The bottom part is even more heated !  Please give a solution to this !

Hello
i've got a brand new dell xps 13 9350 (2016 model) and i reainstalled clean windows 10 pro on it. All drivers are good and i've got this weird problem.
When AC is plugged in, everything works perfectly, no weird sounds. However as soon as i plug out the power, there is that buzzing sound when i scroll or do some acitons. I changed all three power plans (balanced, saver, performance), it's still the same, and i turned off c-states and intel speedstep in BIOS, still the same.
What could cause this issue, any option/driver? I really think it has something to do with the software, because when on AC it doesn't happen.
Any help would be appreaciated.
Thanks

Question: Swollen Battery

The right side of my laptop's bottom panel is being pushed out (apparently from the inside). I took it to the Microsoft store where I purchased it, and they said it was probably an expanded battery. In light of the recent battery recall, this is slightly concerning. How do I confirm this diagnisis, and is there any way to fix/replace this issue?

I have an XPS 15 model 9530 with a swollen battery.  Obviously a defect in material and workmanship. I know that it is out of warranty, but this is just wrong. For what I paid for this laptop, I should not have to be worrying about my touchpad being destroyed by a swollen battery. I read the blogs, this is a common problem and I would like to know what you are going to do about it.  Will you stand behind your product if you are in the wrong?

Answer:XPS 9530 with swollen battery

Get the battery OUT of the system NOW if it's swelling.  While Dell may or may not eventually agree to replace batteries out of warranty, they just about certainly WILL NOT cover damage to the system caused by leaving a clearly defective battery in the system.
All you can do is ask - or wait and see.

My laptop is a year and a half old. It is out of warranty since Dell's warranty is only a year. I have been noticing that the touchpad has been popping up but I never made anything out of it since I always use a Bluetooth mouse. We use Dell at work and often there is a tech who comes in to do in site repairs. I asked about the touch pad and he told me that it is actually a battery inside the laptop that is swelling and is pushing on the touch pad from the inside. I did some research and found out that it is a common issue on my model of the laptop. the battery is inside and it is not serviceable without taking the laptop apart.
I called Dell because even though the laptop is out of warranty I just don't feel that its right that it is having such a weird and dangerous issue, on top of that it was a pretty expensive laptop, I loaded it up when I bought it. Here is where I got the introduction to Dell's absolutely terrible Customer Service. After hours on the phone and multiple transfers to various phone numbers, sometimes back and fourth between the same numbers I was able to escalate to the supervisor who told me that Dell will not take any responsibility for manufacturing a laptop that after only a year and a half of service can have such a major issue. I was able to again escalate and was told that Dell will not take any responsibility for their manufacturing error. In fact, no Goodwill gesture was offered at all.

I have a XPS13 that's about 14 months old. Over the last few months the left side of the keyboard (near z key) has been swelling up. The battery life has also dropped significantly; it be barely last 2 hours whereas it used to last 5-7hrs easily.
I checked online but looks like the battery is not covered after 1 year. Seems like other people had similar issues with Dell laptops as well, how did you end up solving this problem?

As the title states, I have a C720P that I noticed has recently been having issues. The trackpad has been hard to press and the space around it was bulging.  I opened it up and found the battery to have expanded to almost twice its size. To my knowledge this is not a standard occurrence.  As some background info, the computer is never exposed to hot environments. It sits in my office and occasionally next to my bed. So I know it hasn't been exposed to anything it shouldn't. Additionally I have always used the Acer charger that it came with.  Can anyone wiht Acer tell me why this is happenend? I understand that it's two years old but seriously, this shouldn't happen. My Surface Pro that I've had for three years is nothing like this.

Hello,
I have a Dell XPS 15 which is a 9530 that has the same issue as the 9550 with extreme battery swelling and the touchpad no longer works due to this swelling. I'm being told that they will not replace it even though I have a valid warranty and complete care on this system. I guess complete care isn't all that complete if they don't cover the warranty. Maybe Dell would prefer to pay for my entire home and all contents when it burns to the ground because of this faulty battery?
The real question is why would Dell refuse to replace a battery that is obviously part of the same problem as the 9550? Seems a lot cheaper than buying me a new home after the fire.

For the past two weeks, I couldn't easily click with my touchpad but I didn't really care much cuz I am using a mouse. Meanwhile, my new wifi card, Intel 8265, came in today and while changing the card I noticed that my battery is swallowed! (see https://imgur.com/a/Dt1NS)
When I searched on Reddit I noticed that my touchpad problem is related to the battery and many other users are reporting the same problem that I have.
My laptop is out of the warranty but it is clearly a manufacturing defect. I barely used my laptop on the battery and most of the time my charger was plugged in. I have done the routine battery calibration each month.I had other laptops in the past and usage was extreme on them but the battery stayed good for about 3 years at least. This laptop is only 15 months old and there is no excuse for a battery to be swollen on a regular use.
At least I contacted 5 Dell support guys( by phone and chat) but they are saying this is out-of-warranty and I need to buy it. This is a serious safety issue and Dell should be responsible for it. Users are traveling with these laptops and there is a potential threat to explode in places like planes.

This morning I woke up to discover that my HP Spectre x360 does not sit flat on a desk anymore. It appears that the whole underside of the laptop has adopted a convex curvature, and the center of it contacts the desk below. My guess is that the battery is going bad and has expanded. Anyone else having this issue? Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

What was the usual warranty for processor and battery????
I bought a laptop Dell Inspiron 3542 (i5, 1 TB hardisk).  I bought this in Dec 2014.
In my house Voltage disturbance happened and it results in effecting my laptop. It was not starting from then. I took to Dell service center. They told that IC might be damaged it cost around 6000 and service charge of 1000 INR. Post  week they called informed me that Processor, IC and Battery(Something I cant believe) were damaged. To fix that It'll cost around 18K and battery cost should bear by me separately.
Laptop was just 2 years old!!!! :( :(
Warranty expired for system. But i want to know? Is there any warranty for processor specially??

Answer:Usualy Warranty for Dell Inspiron 3542 processor & Battery?

Unless you purchased additional coverage with the system, the basic warranty on the system and the battery is 12 months.  There are no other separate warranty coverages - and the CPU is part of the mainboard on this model.

I contacted tech support about my swollen overheating battery/ raised trackpad and their only solution was to send in the machine to the depot which can take 2 weeks or more to get it back (tech support said the parts may be back ordered).
There has to be a better solution than saying 'unfortunately'.  I use my XPS 9550 for business and don't have a spare computer.  Considering that there is a known safety issue here too, I would think that Dell would want to have an onsite repair solution.
Can anybody help with a solution?

Answer:Swollen overheating battery but no onsite repair option???

It depends on what your warranty is and what they can do onsite if you have that.  If you upgraded to onsite and its something they can do onsite then that is what happens, but if you never upgraded you have to do mail in.

Bought dell xps 9550 on March of 2016 and after a year and  2 months the touchpad is difficult to press and select text. Its kind of dissapointing to see this issue on this expensive laptops. Had owned sony vaio and other laptops and never had such issue. Called dell and no help due to out of warranty. The guy tried to convince me is not the battery problem and to sign up for warranty so i can ship my laptop to them. This is *** since i already pulled the battery out and can see it's swollen. Also the touchpad worked after laptop was off and the battery cooled down for some time. Whennit swelled up again and went to the same problem. Decided just to buy battery myself and change it out. Not getting another dell in the future.

My laptop was purchased in Oct 2014, so my warranty was up Sept 2015 - noticed last week that half of the keyboard and trackpad are distended, and determined the battery is swollen - today, noticed the battery is no longer holding a charge - cannot locate any recalls, but two years is awfully short for an HP laptop battery to go bad like this under normal conditions - tried contacting warranty dept with description and was immediately advised to submit my issue to support or forums -

The battery on my out-of-warranty X201t will only hold 2/3 of its original capacity (reset doesn't help, drivers and bios are all up to date).  The battery itself is relatively new (< 1 year) and so still under warranty.  Whom do I contact about replacement?   I've searched the Lenovo website and can't find the phone number or email for opening a ticket on an in-warranty accessory when the machine to which it is attached is out of warranty. Thanks in advance.  DR

Does anyone know if 9350 has the same battery as the 9343 or is it different?
When it comes to the 9350, what are the exact specs of its battery?
Li-Po or Li-ion?
56W?
cell count 4 or 6?
Voltage?
mA?
Thanks.

I just received my new laptop.
Battery is dead.
Warranty is waaay too complicated.

Answer:xps 13 9350 battery issue

The batteries don't interchange between the two models.  There are 4- and 6-cell options (the 6 cell comes ONLY with systems that have only an M.2 SSD - not a 2.5" drive (the battery consumes the space that holds the 2.5" drive).
The battery is proprietary and the system new enough that Dell is likely the only source.

I am having the exact same problem with the battery bulging out my keyboard and touchpad. Dell wants $169.95 to replace it. This is my third dell computer and will be my last if they don't fix it.
Is this a fire or explosion issue to be concerned about??

I've had it for 4 whole weeks and my XPS13 9350 seemed fine. But now:
- it won't turn on unless it is connected to the main power supply- while plugged it to the main power supply the battery meter is stuck at 37%- if I pull out the power cable while it is turned on it switches off immediately
What is wrong with it ?

It's most likely a bad battery - call Dell for warranty service.

Few days ago I got my Dell Xps 13 (skylake, non-touch, full-hd, intel core I7, 250 GB SDD), but I am quite disappointed because of the battery life. Normal usage (wifi, Word, 30% brightness, internet, chat) gives me 4.20 hours. Very far away from the 11 hours reviewers claim.
I have also updated the BIOS. But it did not improve much.
Do you believe the battery could be defective?  These are the results: FULL CHARGE CAPACITY 54 mWh CYCLE COUNT - Since OS install At full charge 4:29:51 At design Capacity 4:47:21 Thanks in advance for you time.

Answer:XPS 13 9350 - Battery lasts 4 hours

What screen do you have?  You'll never see anywhere near 11 hours (or even 8-9) with a 4K resolution screen.
With an FHD screen and solid power management settings, 8-9 should be possible -- and if you have the 4K screen, cut those numbers in half, so if that's what you've got, 4.5-5 hours is pretty good and you likely will not see more runtime out of the battery.

The XPS13 is 15 months old and has only been lightly used yet the battery has ceased to charge.  With adapter plugged in it shows 86% charged but not charging.  Charge light flashes orange only.  Battery test lights 1, 3 & 5 all light up.  Will not work on battery but does on adapter.  Dell diagnostics show battery is fine.  BIOS shows battery as needing replacement.  Battery management drivers are up to date.  Disconnecting battery and holding down 'on' button does not change anything.
Dell state that only Dell batteries can be bought from them yet they do not appear to sell an internal battery for this model (BIOS states get new battery from Dell!).
How do I establish whether I need a new adapter, motherboard or battery?  If I need the latter, how do I obtain one?
Any help much appreciated.

Hey :). I'm coming from a Lenovo machine (which I returned due to build defects). They had a software which prevented the battery from charging until it dropped under 50%. This is very useful for maintaining battery life. I saw that Dell has something similar in BIOS but unfortunately it doesn't seem to have any effect. The setting I'm using is under "power management" -> "primary battery charge configuration". I set "custom charge start" at 50% and "custom charge stop" at 95%. The stop works, but not the start. It always charges.
I kind of remember there used to be a tool to control this as well. Any ideas?

Question: Dell XPS 13 9350

I have just bought this Dell XPS 13 9350 within the past few months. One day the touchscreen started to constantly click on the screen, sometimes without stopping. The only way I am able to get this "ghost clicking" to stop is either restarting the laptop (hoping the problem doesn't persist)or, sometimes I get lucky by just pressing the touch screen on random spots and it seems to stop the clicking. Is this a hardware problem or can I somehow fix this problem other than messing with the hardware?

Question: dell xps 9350 ssd

Hello,

I'm about to pull the trigger on a dell xps 13. Can anyone tell me if I order the 8gb model with the i5 6200u FHD screen which comes with a 256gb SSD, can someone tell me what model of SSD this is? Is it a Samsung SM951 (uk model)? I understand it is PCIE based, but does the controller run in AHCI or NVME? I am thinking of putting a 950 pro in there (I understand these drives are nearly identical in terms of performance but I'd like to be able to use the Samsung magician software and turn on rapid mode and overprovisioning. has anyone used the samsung magician software with a 950 pro drive? is there any difference in real world performance between an ahci drive and a nvme drive under normal usage?

thanks.

Hi,
I have a Dell XPS 13 (9350-4891) with BIOS version 1.2.3 installed.
Here's what I'd like to achieve: The battery should only start charging at 60% charge or lower. In case that it's charging, the maximum charge should be 90%. So for example if the current charge is 74% and I plug the AC in, the battery should NOT start charging (because it's over 60%).
Here's what I already tried:
1) BIOS menu: Settings -> Power Management -> Primary Battery Charge Configuration. Then I selected "Custom" and entered the values from above. Result: No matter what the current charge is, the battery starts charging anyways when I plug the AC in. So for example if the current charge is 74% and I plug the AC in, the battery starts charging.
2) Dell Command Power Manager: I installed the software and set the settings like in the BIOS menu in 1). Same result as in 1). Charging starts, whatever the current charging level is.
3) Dell Command Power Manager: I also tried to use this software. Same result as in 1) and 2).

Thanks a lot for any helpful reply!

all of my drivers are updated and running on the latest build of windows 10. upgraded window to the latest build and all of the drivers the first thing after i turned on the system for the first time in case if there is any issues from the past might be fixed already in the new updates.

Hi,
i have some issues with my Dell XPS 13 (9350) and Dell TB16. I connected a 4K Monitor on the MiniDP Port and another 1080P Monitor on the HDMI Connector. I get constant dropout of my 4K Monitor, like every 1-2h min. the screen goes black and after a few moment the video comes back. Updating everything to latest BIOS, TB Firmware, Video Drivers does not working. I tried to disable TB security in BIOS but this doesnt help either.I tested my TB16 with another device, this time it is my company Lenovo P50. Everything works great with this device, no video dropouts, i tested this several ours.
So what is wrong with the Dell XPS13 and Thunderbolt?

Hi
I recently got a new Dell XPS 13. I like it very much but I have one single issue with it.
It gets hot when plugged in. I installed latest drivers and bios firmware but it's still annoying.
The main problem is that I searched for fan problems over net, I saw people are complaining about fan being too noisy on XPS 13 but I hear absolutely nothing from laptop. and now I'm wondering if it has a fan and it's working.
How do I know that the fan is working?
Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to install Windows 7 on Dell XPS 9350. To be able to do that, I needed to install the usb 3.0 drivers (the laptop doesn't have any usb 2.0 ports and the usb 3.0 can't be change to usb 2.0 from the bios) into the Windows 7 installation on my usb stick.

The problem is that Windows can't identify the ssd. So I figured it was the motherboard chipset drivers that I needed to install, so that it could identify the nvme controller itself. The problem is that when I extract the driver, there are no .inf or .cab drivers. There are a lot of files without any extensions and basically the driver seems to be installable only on a functional installed operating system.

Any ideas how I could get a readable driver that I could browse to during the Windows 7 installer?

Thanks!

Answer:Windows 7 on Dell XPS 9350

I don't see anything on the Dell downloads for this model for Win 7. They have Win 10 and Win 8.1 drivers. Even if you get Win 7 installed I doubt that all the devices on the laptop are going to work.

I've seen other try to install Win 7 on a new system that is not designed for Win 7 and of the ones I've seen none have been successful and give up and keep their original OS.

Best option, if you can return the Dell, is to buy one that has Win 7 or that you can backward install Win 7 on it (and all devices work).

Hello,
My XPS 13 started to act out pretty strange today. It seems like it doesn't not use battery at all, thus I can only boot it up when it's plugged to the charger. The battery indicator shows that it's NOT charging the battery, and it's stuck at 48%. When I disconnect it from the charger while it's running, it turns off immediately, and the only way to boot it up is to plug it back again. Additionally, the light indicator below the touchpad is blinking rapidly (~3-4 blinks per second) with amber light, both when I'm in OS as well as already on Dell splash screen during boot.
Any ideas on what might be going on ? I have bios 1.3.3 which I updated around April.

Hi,
I have both version of XPS 13 9350 and 9360.
I fully charge the battery to 100% and then shutdown the computers and turn it off.
If I start them again after 2 days I have lost ca 10% of battery charge - only 90% charge left, although they were completely turned off (no standby!) ....
After a week without turning on, I lose 20-25% of charge. As written without working on the XPS 13.
I also have a Dell Latitude 7280 from work and it loses only 4% charge within a week. This seems normal in my opinion.
The battery was exchanged for the 9350 by Dell but this have brought nothing. Something drains battery on the two XPS when switched off.
Someone have an idea or can even report how it is with you?

I've recently been looking into buying an eGPU Enclosure such as the AKiTiO Node or the Razer Core. I've updated all the firmware and now I am running Thunderbolt Software Version 16.1.47.275. The Node and Core both specify that the computer needs to both have Thunderbolt 3 (which I have) and be compatible with external graphics. What does this mean? I have Thunderbolt 3, so wouldn't it be theoretically possible to run external graphics provided the firmware was up to date?
So in summary, my main question is this: Will/can the Dell XPS 13 9350 be able to use eGPU enclosures over Thunderbolt 3 now (or in the future if there is firmware updates being planned)?

Answer:Dell XPS 13 QHD+ 9350 Heat Problem

Hi SILAPINBENZ,
Download and reinstall the video drivers from the support site - http://dell.to/1UiTOks
If you still encounter the video driver crashes, then restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us. If there are no errors, then restart the system and within windows - run a stress test on the system - http://dell.to/21y9GPi
Restart the system and press f2 to enter BIOS - check the adapter status in BIOS.
Test the system with another adapter if possible. For the screen flickering issue, after updates and tests, if the issue still persists, then connect an external monitor and check for flickering on the LCD and the external monitor - this will help isolate if the source of the issue.
If the system is under warranty, then contact us via Twitter - @dellcarespro - for faster communication.
Keep us updated.

Hello Everyone,

I recently purchased a Manufacturer Refurbished Dell XPS 13 9350 (Skylake), and all has not been well.
The laptop constantly BSODs whenever I wake it from sleep. The thing is that it works without a hitch for
hours on end on a cold boot, but as soon as I wake it from sleep or hibernation, I receive a BSOD on wake 80~90% of the time, sometimes instantly and sometimes after 3-4 minutes of use.

I've already done a fresh install of Windows 10, ran memtest86 5 times with no errors returning and also manually
uninstalled/reinstalled all the latest drivers for my laptop and even ran Driver Sweeper in safe mode but the problem
persists. There were even more errors before, but after doing all my driver updates, WhoCrashed points me to ntkrnlmp.exe as the most frequent cause of BSODs.

I've attached the dump files to the thread, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You!

Answer:BSODs on Wake for Dell XPS 13 9350

Hello again,

Sorry for the double post, but a new situation has come up. This morning I closed the lid on my laptop without powering it down. My laptop has the "close the lid" action set to "do nothing", so the computer definitely did not sleep/hibernate. When I returned in the afternoon, I was greeted with the Dell splash screen, indicative that the computer's crashed again. I ran Who Crashed once more, and this time the BSOD was caused by a "CRITICAL_STRUCTURE_CORRUPTION" with ntkrnlmp.exe once again.

I've attached another zip folder with the dump files, but I am not sure how to delete the dump files, so the ones from this morning are on there as well.

Thank you!!

I purchased a new dell XPS 13 9350 from BestBuy August 8, 2016 and have several sound problems.  First all sound stopped working about a month after purchasing the laptop but using the Dell.com support site I discovered that 3 Intel drivers had been disabled. Once I reinstalled the drivers the audio began working again but another issue has continued. A periodic static noise.
The laptop periodically emits a static noise anytime you press a key. When the noise starts it happens anytime you press a key regardless of what program is running and thus far there is no apparent trigger that causes it to start emitting the static noise. Twice I've run the diagnostic "Full Test" on the dell.com support site but the test does not find any problems. Considering the price of this laptop I am surprised and even more shocked to see that other people are also having issues with static sounds.
I purchased an HP laptop last year for half the price of this laptop and have not had a single issues with that computer.

Hi,
I have noticed that whenever the (non-touch) screen on my Dell XPS 13 9350 refreshes (e.g. with the mouse pointer moving, webpage scrolling, etc.) I hear a buzzing sound from the bottom left of the display.
Uninstalling the Intel display driver and using the Microsoft Windows generic display driver stops this buzzing from occurring, but that also stops the screen brightness hotkeys from working so it's not really a solution.
Does anyone know how to resolve?
Thanks

Hi,
I have a new Dell XPS 13 9350 (only a few months old)... I noticed that the Microphone is not working in any applications I try.  I have gone through the Dell diagnostic as well as the Windows 10 diagnostics but nothing seems to fix the issue.
I am running the latest drivers (6.0.1.7737) from the Dell support web site.
I have tried to remove the Realtek drivers and go with the native Windows 10 HD Audio Drivers.   This did appear to fix the issue, but then I updated the BIOS to 1.3.3 and now it doesn't work again.  Not sure if the BIOS update broke it or it was just a coincidence and it would have failed after a reboot anyway.  I may attempt to role back the bios and see what happens.
I don't believe it is a hardware issue as I have seen the mic working fine with the Windows 10 drivers.
Has anyone else seen this problem or have a solution?
The problem is I don't know if the MIc was working from the beginning.  The day I got the laptop I update the drivers from the website right away.  I work in IT and always like to have the latest drivers.

When I connect the TB 3 to TB 2, Windows says "Try improving the USB connection" and it links me to this page. Opening the thunderbolt software shows no connected devices. I have the latest drivers that I am aware of, software package version 16.1.47.275. I have BIOS version 1.4.10. I have disabled the thunderbolt security in BIOS and enabled the boot related thunderbolt options.

What else can I do? Thankful for help!

Thank You!

Hi,
I have noticed that whenever the (non-touch) screen on my Dell XPS 13 9350 refreshes (e.g. with the mouse pointer moving, webpage scrolling, etc.) I hear a buzzing sound from the bottom left of the display.
Uninstalling the Intel display driver and using the Microsoft Windows generic display driver stops this buzzing from occurring, but that also stops the screen brightness hotkeys from working so it's not really a solution.
Does anyone know how to resolve?
Thanks

Hi,
I am busy finding my way with a new Dell XPS 13 (9350). Many of the programmes I have display very well, but sometimes they programmes that load are so small that you need a magnifying glass to navigate your way around the screen.
Microsoft Office, for example, has no issues,
but
When I load my Adobe Photoshop Elements, the display is so small that I can hardly see anything.

How do I go about setting up the display so that it is easily readable? The attached screenshots hopefully illustrate the problem I'm having.
Sometimes - even in my browser - one section of the browser will display legibly, but another section of the screen (possibly linked to a java application) will display incredibly small.

Example of a website that displays inconsistently.

Answer:Dell XPS 13 (9350) Screen Resolution

I have the same problem. Auto cad tool bars are unreadable. Google Earth has same issues and very large text for state names. The drag icon is very small. Maps program will not show roads when zoomed in. i have heard this is a windows 10 issue, but I don'r believe it. I have two desk tops running windows 10 and all works well.

Hi,
I just bought a Dell XPS 13 9350 QHD. I am trying to disable Adaptive brightness with this patch i downloaded from dell website APP_QHDFW_DBC_W81X64_W10X64_A00_Setup-PWD5K_ZPE
However after I unzip and run the exe file there is no reaction.

Can someone please assist.

Thank you.

Answer:Dell XPS 13 9350 QHD - Adaptive brightness

Hi SOCEIR,
Is that a driver update you are downloading? That will not change any settings for your GPU.
Follow the steps below to turn off adaptive brightness:
1) Go to your power settings by left-clicking the battery symbol at the bottom right of your desktop
2) click power and sleep settings
3) click additional power settings then click "change plan settings" next to the power profile you are using
4) then, click "change advanced power settings"
5) Scroll down to Display (click the plus icon) --> Enable adaptive brightness --> then turn it off using the pull down menus.

Let me know if this works,
Cheers,
AJ

I know the screen is working because I can access the BIOS on startup, and I can see the Dell Logo with the rotating dots when it begins the startup, but when it should be showing the Windows 10 login screen it's just black. I've tried typing my password to see if I get any feedback after logging in but nothing happened. Tried running the diagnostic test, nothing. Not sure if this is fixable or I'll have to get it fixed under warranty.

If I'm reading you correctly, you power on the system, you quickly start tapping the F12 key continuously but there wasn't no boot menu to run the diagnostic tool on the system?

My laptop Dell XPS 9350: BIOS 1.4.18 updated august 20.
From the very next day the dell system detect is showing a BIOS update is required,
But when I download it shows its the latest download is:  older BIOS version 1.0.0  released in 2015.
I did not install and contact dell support right away to verify, end up listening to that I do not have warranty anymore. so they cant support.
My query is whether I should be downgrading my BIOS?
I am not sure this is the right forum to ask, I apologize.
Anybody having similar issue?

Answer:Dell XPS 9350 Bios upgrade

Dell has had several issues with BIOS updates recently.  For several models, recent BIOS updates caused connection stability issues with USB devices connected via the TB16 dock.  Possibly as a result of that, Dell pulled the updates and replaced them with older ones, but that worked rather oddly on the site. For example, the newer XPS 13 9360 recently got a 2.1.0 BIOS and the next release posted was 1.0.7, and for a while both were posted, and now 2.1.0 is back as the only option.  I would hold off on BIOS updates for a while until you see an update that's actually newer than what you have, which will also hopefully contain a fix for these USB issues.

My Dell XPS 13 was working fine for about 9 months. Recently, I have to go through a lot of trouble just to get it charging. When I plug in the adapter, the light on the end of the plug turns on, but to get the charge to work, I have to push the cord extremely hard into the laptop. Even when I do this, the laptop usually only stays charging for about 5 seconds. After about 20 tries, I got it to stay charging. The warranty is still (thankfully) active, so worst case, I can just get it replaced. But before that, what can I do to try to fix it?

Answer:Dell XPS 13 9350 having trouble charging?

Hi,
Thank you for writing to us!
We would request you try a known good charger on this system and also try this adapter on a different system and check if the same issue occurs .
We would also request you private message the service tag to the system and the charger port and also the pin of the adapter .
Thanks

Hi,
I've got an XPS 13 9350 with a clean install of Windows 10 on it on Bios 1.2.3.  The touchpad has a couple of issues:
1) Bouncy when scrolling.  In a web browser, when using two fingers to scroll down, upon releasing the screen jumps back up a bit - occasionally jumps to the top of the page again.  This is best described is this post, but with no resolution:
2) Tap to click sometimes stops working.  When this happens if I wiggle a finger on the pad a bit and try again, it starts working again.
3) Click drag releases by itself.  More often than not, if I click and hold the button on the touchpad to move a file, it releases before the button is released.  Its almost impossible to move emails between folders in outlook due to this behaviour.
Are these common issues?  Could I have faulty hardware?  I've run the Dell update utility, but apparently my system is up to date.Any pointers appreciated!
Thanks,Ben

Answer:Dell XPS 13 9350 Touchpad Issues

Hi, I had scrolling issues specifically in Chrome when the XPS13 9350 came out In November. The Windows 10 TH2 update fixed that however. I would assume you have already updated Windows?
Yours sounds as though you have faulty hardware and should be an easy diagnosis for Dell support.

Kind of an info post & a question.
My new Dell XPS 13 9350 touchscreen started to intermittently fail & within a day or 2 it completely gave up. I also noticed that there was no touchscreen device in Device Manager (under HID section) nor any mystery USB devices there (an Internet search reckoned it could be a power problem). I did notice though that under USB Devices section there was a mystery device that said "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed).
Called Dell Support who informed me that since it was purchased from a UK retailer I wasn't eligible for Dell support! So I called PC World...
They took me through a step which I'd already tried (uninstall & reinstall mystery USB devcie) but this time it worked - touchscreen appeared in HID section & mystery USB device vanished. Hung up the phone, moved laptop then the touchscreen failed again. This time, on loading Device Manager, it was unusable. Device Manager kept refreshing over & over again, but I did have time to see that again touchscreen had vanished from HID & the mystery USB (with same message) appeared in USB Devices. This time though the USB device would vanish & then the screen refresh.
A bit more Google searching revealed that a touchscreen is effectively a mini USB device & I wondered if the issue I was having was due to an intermittent connection. It would explain the constant refreshing of Device Manager since it was like something being conne... Read more

Just received the XPS 13 (9350) last week and I've been having some intermittent black screen flickering that normally occurs in short bursts of 4-5 short black outs within a span of two or three seconds. Tech support updated all the drivers and such, but I'm still experiencing the issues. Has anyone had similar issues and possible solutions?
I looked at previous posts and the screen flickering is not where it actually distorts things on screen, it literally just looks like it flashes on and off. Any help is appreciated!

I have that problem and when it starts happening randomly, whenever I click on the Wireless Icon in windows 10, it suddenly happens again. I turned of wireless adapter in settings and to my surprise, the problem stopped!!

I have had a XPS 13 9350 and love it except one thing. When i plug in headphones to the laptop I get really bad static on the audio that only goes away when I mute, this condition does not happen with the built in speakers. I have tried to update drivers and all of that and every time i update to the new realtek drivers or any realtek drivers for that matter my laptop will freeze when booting into windows 10. It freezes as soon as I try to use the notification center or start menu and I have to restart and then role back the audio driver to the stock high definition windows 10 driver to get things to work. For the short time I get teh realtek driver to work the audio on both the headphones and speakers is fine but the computer locks up and I am forced to role back the driver to the High definition windows 10 driver which causes the headphone static to come back.
I have had this problem from the beginning but have forgot about it since I really don't use headphones with it much but I forsee me using them more. I have even considered buynig a AudioQuest Dragonfly Dac in order to bypass the stock headphone jack to keep this from happening.

Answer:Dell XPS 13 9350 audio problem

Hello. Did the laptop come with Win10 pre-installed at the factory? If so it would have had a working Realtek audio driver in it when you took it out of the box. You can return it to that state by performing a system recovery -- return to the original factory configuration.
If you installed Win10, you might consider returning to the operating system in which the audio worked properly. There are a lot of audio problems with Win10.

You can get a usb audio jack from Amazon for about 5 bucks or so.

Hi all,
A pretty nasty situation, given that this is supposedly a "premium" laptop.
I have here a one day old XPS 13 (9350) MS signature edition from Amazon, bought new. Core i5, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB storage, current BIOS (1.4.4) and drivers (updated right away), windows 10. Everything looked fine until I disabled power-saving features of the graphics (panel self-refresh and power saving mode for games) and then tried to reboot while on battery: it gets stuck right on the Dell logo. Sometimes the rotating Windows thingy appears, but then freezes immediately.
Holding the power button and then cold-starting works. Rebooting does not. Loading BIOS defaults helped reboot once, after which I decided to re-enable the power-saving stuff (thinking that it is what caused it). The reboot after that did not take place either --  got stuck again. I don't know if there's any relationship between these power saving features and what's happening (could be a coincidence).
The problem does not seem to occur while on AC power.
Any thoughts? As I said before, this is an Amazon purchase, so I can return/exchange it within 30 days. Thanks.

So i love this laptop, the ram and CPU are starting to become a issue for me. Rather then buy a new one i was wondering if i ordered a i7 motherboard of the same model would i be able to install it without issue?

Answer:Upgrade Motherboard on a Dell XPS 13 9350?

Yes, though you may also need a higher capacity power supply - and it's not exactly an inexpensive  upgrade.

Was really looking forward to this laptop, but received it late last week and the touchpad appears to be defective on arrival.  Lags and freezes intermittently and two finger scroll barely ever works.  Already called in to tech support and they advised the same given we tried for an hour to resolve.
Seems I received a lemon given that it has a great build and monitor, but researching this issue seems there are many threads and youtube posts with the same exact issues so this seems unfortunately common.  Will be returning it tomorrow (for a full refund) as I can't wait another few weeks for this machine and as I travel a lot I don't intend to use a mouse very often.  Even though I'm more than willing to pay for a decent notebook, it is frustrating it is so difficult to come by.

A week ago this problem started , when the computer is booting and plugged in it stops at the Dell Supportassist
"Alert The power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined. The battery may not charge. The system will adjust the performance to match the power available."
When I  click on Diagnostics and I get "testing completed . One or more errors but doesn't say what the issue is. I've run this about 5 times with same results.
I am using the proper power cord, I run it without being plugged in a lot.
Now the battery will not hold a charge and only works if it's plugged in and at 1%
I do not want to open it up while it's under warranty
Thank you, Happy Holidays

Answer:Dell Xps 9350 system bios 1.4.4

If the system is still under warranty, call Dell for repair.
They'll first replace the AC adapter with a new OEM Dell unit.  If that doesn't solve the problem,
They'll replace the DC power jack:
www.parts-people.com/index.php
And if that doesn't solve the problem, it's the mainboard that needs to be replaced.

Hi,
my Dell XPS 9350 does not boot at all. It is a brand new laptop that crashed while Windows 10 Updates were applied so I had to restart it. On restart, all that I got was a black display. Not even the Dell logo shows up so I cannot go into the bios settings or change the boot mode,...
The display seems to work as I run the display test and the colors show up but once the test is done, all that I get is the black screen.
Dell Support now offered me to send a technical guy to repair the laptop but the problem is that they do not yet have the new XPS 13 in their support list and needed 3 days to update their database. Now it turns out that they do not have some components and will not come until they have everything. Dell is not able to tell me how long this will take (very strange from my point of view).
Now my problem is that I would urgently need this laptop so that  I would like to avoid the option to simply send it back and order a new one.
So if there is someone that has a clue if this can be solved by some trick without having to change a hardware I would be glad.
As mentioned already, I did the system tests that I found in the forums but the only thing that worked was the display test.
It is the 9350 using an Intel Core i7 and the 512 GB SSD using the PCI slot.
Thanks
Thomas

Hi Tanzinge,
Thanks for posting.
Are there any beeps when the unit tries to boot?  Beep codes can help indicate what parts may have a problem.
Have you tried using an external monitor?
Please try these things and post back so the experts here can further assist.  Thanksl.

I recently bought this laptop, but yesterday it refused to boot.
The light on the charger is on, however when plugged into the laptop the light on the laptop does not come on.
I already opened the panel and unplugged the battery cable and plugged it back in but to no avail.
Is it now dead? I am still under warranty, but i need my laptop now.

Answer:Dell XPS 13 9350 won't Boot and not charging.

There's a short circuit somewhere in the system - it will need warranty repair.  If it's less than 21 days from shipment from Dell, you can also return the system for replacement.

-Description of problem-I recently purchased a Dell XPS 9350 (Windows 10) laptop. Often the touchpad completely ceases to function. This happens randomly 10-60 minutes after using the machine normally. Sometimes disabling the touchpad in Device Manager and re-enabling it will fix the issue temporarily. Sometimes this is not sufficient, but a restart of the machine will fix the issue temporarily. Sometimes this is not sufficient, and 5 or 6 restarts are required to get the touchpad to function again.-Attempted resolutions-* Ensuring that all device drivers are up to date and that the latest updates from Windows Update are installed* Installing the generic Synaptics touchpad drivers instead of the Microsoft Precision ones (as suggest in various other forums describing issues with the XPS touchpad). The synaptics driver functions, but the same issue remains.* Resetting Windows - clean reset choosing to remove all programs but keep personal files.* Running the Windows Hardware Troubleshooter - this detects that there is an issue reinstalls the touchpad drivers. Sometimes this also temporarily fixes the issue (after restarting), but sometimes the troubleshooter says that it cannot fix the problem.-Further details-There are various items that show up in device manager. Under "Human Interface Devices" there is both "HID-Compliant touch pad" and "I2C HID Device".  Under "Mice and other pointing devices" there exist both "HID-compliant... Read more

I have a DELL XPS 13 9350 2016. I purchased it about 7 months ago.
I am getting this issue just today. It takes forever for the laptop too boot after I type my password in. Also, it takes forever to start the starting programs. Its so slow that I can't even post about it using the laptop.
Does anyone know what to do about this?
Also, how long does it usually take to get technical help?

Answer:DELL XPS 13 9350 booting issues

Hi PETERYOO12,
Are there any bluescreens / system crashes? Is there any damage on the system?
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us. These are onboard diagnostics and they might possible pick some error if the hardware is not functional. Also, run an extended / thorough tests on the HDD and memory to check for any possible errors.
If the system is under warranty, we can help book a service call if the hardware has an issue and needs to be replaced.
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private conversation with the service tag and your contact details(Name and Email) for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

Hello, I am having trouble recently with my dell xps 13 9350. The computer starts up from OFF fine, however if I try to wake up the laptop after closing the lid or pressing the power button quickly (which in both cases causes the laptop to sleep) all i get is a blue screen with a loading wheel. The computer does not wake up and must be restarted by holding the power button for over 4 seconds.
I have had this computer for two months and this is the first issue I've had with it. Hoping someone can help me resolve this issue. Thanks!

Literally anything I do the max is .78 GHz and I can barely watch a YouTube video because I am barely even using the processor. The laptop is so slow because of it. I have tried basically everything, disabling speed step in bios, adjusting power options, updating bios, updating drivers, etc.. Please help me.

Answer:Dell XPS 13 9350 i7 will not go past .78 GHz on the processor. PLEASE HELP

They seem to stay at the lower speed more than you might think.  While at this speed do you see the CPU utilization maintaining levels?
You state your tried different Power Schemes, have you tried the High Performance for testing?  If the speed does not increase when you select it you might want to try a reboot.
