Sierra Wireless MC7750 on Thinkpad W520 keep shutting off.

Question: Sierra Wireless MC7750 on Thinkpad W520 keep shutting off.

I got a W520 and installed the card, drivers and hardware is seen properly (I'm using Win7 x64bit)but it keeps looking like it is turned off (how you turn off wifi). Though when I press FN+F5 it doesn't show mobile broadband, only wifi and bluetooth I use the AirCard Watcher app and it keep saying Airplane Mode, radio is off.when I disable and enable the card via network settings. The Aircard watch see the card for about a split second when I reenable it but then it goes right backto airplane mode.. I also tried using the Lenovo access connection and when I try to connect to mobile broadband . it keep saying no signal or sim not activated BTW: I have a working Verizon Sim card that I use for a usb dongle and I have a x240 with broadband card that works fine with the SIM so it's not a sim card problem.

Preferred Solution: Sierra Wireless MC7750 on Thinkpad W520 keep shutting off.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a W520 and am looking to purchase a WWAN card.  I see that Sierra Wireless has the MC7750 card available (supports LTE, EV-DO and HSPA+).   Will the W520 support LTE, or am I just wasting my money getting a WWAN card with LTE support?

Answer:ThinkPad W520 and Sierra Wireless MC7750

The short answer: get the MC7750!Probably the biggest improvement isn't the raw download/upload speed of the unit, but rather the reduced network latencies. All the advertisements are only talking about the improvements in MBps, probably because it's the easiest thing to describe to people in 30 seconds or on a billboard. In reality MBps only matters if you are watching video, or downloading large files. Most of the delay time for other applications comes from the several hundred milliseconds it takes the computers to make a round trip communication. Each time you click something on the web, there are several rounds of communication which can add up. If your current connection has a 400ms delay (as mine does) it takes several seconds each time for anything to happen. Some better connections like HSPA are supposed to have about 100ms latency, but LTE is going to push that down to about 40ms.  Can you tell that I'm excited about getting LTE  I'm planning on getting the MC7750 as soon as Lenovo releases it. Unfortunately, every time I call in, I seem to be told that it's just a month or so away. I've been hearing that line for almost 4 months now. I was also told that I will be able to upgrade my existng x220, which had better be true otherwise I'm going to be royally pissed because I bought the system with that understanding. You may find my thread on the MC7750 for the x220 device interesting.http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/Does-quot-Bro... Hi Guys,First off, thank you for this very wonderful resource. Now, I will try to make this short and simple and hope someone can help me out.I currently am using a T430s which I ordered a Sierra MC7550 (GOBI 4000) mini PCI card for to have internet (4G) on the go via verizon.I followed all instructions and installed the card without any issue. I booted the notebook and notice a little popup in my tool tray that said the hardware was not successfully installed. I then tried using System update to install the driver which seemed to have installed everything successfully. I opened my network connections and still didn't see the new device so I decided to open up device manager and saw that something was wrong. The MC7750 was listed under "Other devices" instead of "Networking" and had the yellow exclamation point next to it.Currently the exact error is as follows:The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)There is no driver selected for the device information set or element. To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.I tried manually downloading/installing the driver from Lenovo's site, using System update, manually pointing to the downloaded driver's path and nothing seems to fix it.I am hoping someone could help me here. I'm not sure if this is Lenovo branded or not however I'm not getting any BIOS errors upon boot. I'm running the latest BIOS and Windows 7 Pro 64bit.There's not much information on this card via the net and I assume this is because of it... Read more

Answer:ThinkPad T430s + Sierra MC7750 WWAN Issues

UPDATE: After hours and hours of research and contacting lenovo support via phone to no avail I decided to install the MC770 driver (same device, but for AT&T) and downloaded the installation file from AT&T and VIOLA! It installed and I was able to see it in my device manager under Network adapters.I'm not sure if its fully working yet because I had no idea I needed a sim card.. I thought i could just call up verizon with my IEMI number and have it activated... either way I consider this one step closer and it leads me to believe that something is up with the driver download from LENOVO. Also, could I buy a prepaid Verizon sim card and use it in here or? IF this works fully and flawlessy, I hope this helps someone to prevent them from going through what I went through. Hopefully Lenovo updates their drivers.*** I ask that you guys still kindly reply to let me know if I am missing something here. Thanks.

Guys,Im thinking of getting t420s, but the critical condition for me is to be able to plug in Sierra Wireless MC7710,I know that its not on the whitelist, but lets just assume that I can patch BIOS and actually make it work, will be possible technically to plug in Sierra Wireless MC7710 into t420s?Is there a slot for it? And are there enough antenna cords for it as well?I've seen some screens and it seems that Wi-Fi card is using 3 antenna cords and there are only 2 spare whereas MC7710 requires 3 antenna cords?Cords are seen here - http://www.notebookreview.com/shared/picture.asp?f=58673Could someone clarify please. Many thanks in advance !D

Answer:RE: Installing Sierra Wireless MC7710 into Lenovo thinkpad T420s

One of the three antenna connectors on the MC7710 is for the GPS antenna. This could mean that it could work fine with the two antennas that are available.

Hello, I'm thinking to buy ThinkPad Sierra Wireless EM7345 4G LTE Mobile Broadband FRU: 04X6014 for my ThinkPad X250. I?ve few questions, Pease suggest ...1. Is it really any good and practically beneficial?2. Can I use it on Fedora 27, How?s Linux support?3. X250 has two PCI Express M.2 card slot and one is already occupied by WLAN Card and other slot is available, Can I use empty slot for FRU-04X6014?4. Can I use both WLAN and WWAN simultaneously?5. What is the impact on battery (Windows and Linux)?6. Is AliExpress a good place to buy? Thankyou

Answer:Sierra Wireless EM7345 4G LTE Mobile Broadband FRU: 04X6014 for my ThinkPad X250

Regarding your questions:1) I personally use it and it's really good, as I don't want to use additional USB modem or WWAN wireless router.2) Can't say, as I don't use Fedora.3) There's a dedicated port for this module. Please make sure, that you have an antenna connectors for module and adapter for a SIM card. Moreover, instead of WWAN module, you can install there a m.2 2242 SSD disk.4) Both can be enabled and connected, but application will use one at time.5) I have an extended battery, so it's hard to tell. I guess it have a simmilar power usage as WLAN module (basing on Windows power utilization). Can't say about Fedora.6) It you don't want to have a problem with whitelist (it prevent system from booting, when unauthorized module is installed), then I look for module on eBay. Make sure, that photos explictly show FRU PN: 04X6014 on module's label. Models without it will not work.

Hello everyone, I'm facing a problem with the Thinkpad E130 and the integrated Sierra Wireless MC8355 Gobi 3000 broadband modem. I can't use them with my SIM cards. No connection is established. I'm sure that a modem is integrated since it was specifcally ordered with it and it shows up in the device manager. What I ruled out:- Hardware defect: There is a second Thinkpad E130 with the same setup, where it doesn't work either.- Service provider problem: Tried two SIM cards from two different service providers.- SIM card problem: SIM cards work in mobile 3G router. What I did:- Shut down the notebook- Put a sim card in the slot in the back of the laptop, behind the battery.- Reboot the notebook and start the Thinkvantage Access Connections software.- The sim card usually does get detected and a suitable profile is shown automatically.- Nonethless I created a profile myself. More exactly two profiles for the two service providers. The data for the APN, etc. is gathered either from the internet or from a second software I use.- I try to connect with the profile which is automatically shown and the self-created profiles.- It tries for several minutes but then quits with an error message: 'Unable to connect to network at this time due to out of coverage or Your SIM-card may not be activated. Please see Lenovo Mobile Broadband Actviation or contact your mobile operator. Do you want to sign up now?' - I tried to connect with a second software called MWconn, which ... Read more

I just received my W520 and realized I mistakenly ordered the wrong wifi card; the basic b/g/n card rather than one of the centrino cards.  I looked through the service manual (page 73) and it seems easy enough to replace the card.  I removed the keyboard and took a quick look.  I verified that I have 3 antenna leads (one tucked under the tape and two attached to the card).  What I cannot find any mention of is if there is anything that needs to be done after installing the new card. 1.  Can I go from the b/g/n basic card to the Centrino 6300 card? Or do I need to stick with the 6205 version?2.  Are there any BIOS changes that need to be considered?  3.  Will the PC recognize the new card? Thank you,Mike

Answer:Upgrade Thinkpad W520 Wireless LAN (WLAN) card

hey wand3r3r,there shouldn't be any problem in using the 6300 card. Though im curious to know which card is this ?If the card which you purchase came from us, I do recommend visiting our support page via http://support.lenovo.com as you might need to install some drivers for it.

I have a ThinkPad W520-4282. I want to use a ThinkPad Mini Dock Plus Series 3 (170W) [pn 433830U] at work and a Lenovo USB 2.0 Port Replicator with Digital Video [0A33942] at home.I did not have to install any drivers for the Mini Dock and it worked just fine driving an external monitor. After installing the driver for the Port Replicator, I could no longer drive the external monitor when attached to the mini dock or the VGA+ video port on the ThinkPad.I played with a lot of things to fix the situation and nothing worked. I even uninstalled the driver for the Port Replicator and still could not drive an external monitor. In fact the laptop did not even recognize that an external monitor was attached.Later I found using the Device Manager that the NVIDIA Qadro 1000M display adapter was disabled, proabably during installation of the Port Replicator driver. Once I enabled that, I could drive an external monitor again. Can anyone tell me if this is normal? Will I be able to use the Port Replicator if I install the driver again?

[OS: Windows 10] Is there an application to use for sending/receiving SMS messages with the Sierra EM7455 Wireless WAN card? What I am looking for isn't one of those bulk sending applications that connects to some server ove Internet. What I want is to send and receive SMS messages just like the way I can do so on my phone. I am really hoping someone knows of such an app, because all googling efforts turned out to be useless.

Hi all,I've really been helped by this forum in the past, and really hope you can help with this issue.I've installed the card and installed the driver - all of which has gone down without a hitch. The compute recognises the card with no issues. Unfortunately, however, when a simcard is inserted it does not register the simcard whatsoever - 'Insert sim' is still present. In my searches on this forum it seems this problem is Windows 10 specific - the system does recognise the wireless card but does not recognise the simcard reader. Anecdotally, it seems to work for others when using Windows 7 (although that wouldn't be a fantastic solution in my situation.)Is there any solution for this?Thank you in advance for your time and any responses!Jack

Hello, jraynerwin10 doesn't need wwan card's manufacturer drivers for the normal mobile connection, it has a native support that. Additional drivers are needed for the legacy location features via NMEA port, for the custom wwan card virtual devices configuration (like NDIS port etc). So, the 1st thought modem firmware is outdated. Check it out:open command prompt window (cmd) and type in the following stringnetsh mbn sh cap int=*Copy and past an output here (remove Device ID for your privacy).Another version is connection settings, APN mainly. Do you see a cellular network item in the win10 network settings?Anyway, I hope mobile device em7345 is present in the Device Manager w/out errors.

Hello, Has anyone tried installation of a sierra wireless MC7750 card on a X220 tablet? I've gotten hold of a MC7750 and intend to install it on my X220 tablet and try it with Verizon 4G network. Thanks,Anand

Answer:Thinkpad X220 Tablet - Installation of sierra wire...

I have not tried it, but I can tell you that most likely it will not work in the default configuration.  Lenovo machines have a whitelist that checks to see if the WWAN card inserted into the machine is regonized and certified.  If the machine doesn't recognize the card it will display an 1804 error.  Since Lenovo doesn't yet sell these cards yet, it's unlikely that this card is on their whitelist. Some people modify their BIOSes to recognize cards that Lenovo hasn't put on their list yet.  I believe you can find such moded BIOSes here: http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-Removed-whitelist-removal-Lenovo-ThinkPad-x220-v1-21 or alternatively maybe in the forums in http://www.mydigitallife.info/ There may be newer versions of the BIOS in the same forum, but I haven't checked in a while. I've been waiting for months for Lenovo to support the MC7750, or another LTE card like it.  I've been told by several sales people that "it's right around the corner".  Pretty much hogwash so far.  I haven't gone the step of ordering one of these card yet hoping that Lenovo will officially support it soon.  Please post back though if you do end up moding your bios.  I'm curious to know how well it works.  Also read up on taping pin 20.  Some people say it's necessary in addition to moding the bios. Good luck.

If you have a W541 then you need the driver for the EM7355 card; that's what should be in the system unless the parts list and psref are mistaken.

I have a T440 with Sierra LTE. It works just fine for connecting to mobile networks. But here in New Zealand, one of our providers also provides free wifi hotspots to customers on certain plans. In order to use this though, I have to enter a password that is sent to me by SMS.Is there any way that I can view SMS messages sent to the SIM card that is inside my laptop? At the moment, I have to remove the SIM from my ThinkPad (with all the hassle that involves), stick it into my phone, get the password, then transfer the SIM card back into my ThinkPad (and often as not, there is no power socket nearby, so I can't restart because I had to disable the internal battery when removing/replacing the SIM card). So, if someone can point to a way that I can simply view those SMS messages on my ThinkPad, I will be enernally grateful.

WARNING!!! The instructions in this post are applicable only to EM7345 installed in Lenovo laptops!! For example, models T440, X240, X1 Carbon 2nd and 3rd gen, X250. For tablets or other devices don?t use the firmware given in this post, you can brick your EM7345! Unfortunately, the default factory EM7345 firmware version  (1.1) has some bugs. For example, after connecting to a LTE network and then disconnecting manually, the network status of the connection was changing for me to ?No service? until device restart. Also, the device often disappears from Device Manager and reappears there with the name ?1 CDC? and does not work until you disable and then enable it again in Device Manager. All those issues are caused by some bugs in EM7345 firmware. But there is a newer version of firmware, namely 1.2, where the above bugs are fixed. But by default, you cannot flash it, because firmware updating is supposed to work unattended. And this is not nice of Intel and Lenovo. The users must be able to do firmware updating when they need or want it! Bad, bad Lenovo, very bad! Here?s the instructions of how to flash your EM7345 to the latest version:Make sure you?re using Windows 8 or 8.1Go to the control panel and uninstall Sierra Wireless EM734x 4G LTE Software from Program and Features.Reboot your laptop.Download and install the latest EM7345 driver package from the Lenovo website. http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-t-series-l... I have this rather irritating problem in that whenever I install the drivers/software for my sierra airport 595u card, it kills the usb host controllers. By kill, I mean I get "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (code 39) errors. This is on both my laptop and desktop I've tried this on. I don't even have the device plugged in when installing, but when I reboot this happens. Uninstalling the software doesn't work, only system restore before the install or format and re-install. I tried comparability mode for vista, no go.

Answer:Incompatability with Sierra Wireless?

Quick update. Apparently the drivers can be loaded if you do it manually. The device won't actually connect without the sprint pcs connection manager's services running. As near as I can tell, running them causes the computer to be unable to re-start any usb style devices. Any ideas?

Hi All, I got the w520 at my job about a month ago, and so far I really love the performance and stability that it provides, but I am having a minor issue (which I feel could become major at any time). The laptop will completely crash/shut down with very minor moving and shaking. I'm not one to flail my laptop around like a maniac, but I'm talking about switching positions while working in my bed, or simply carrying the laptop from room to room. There's a related issue which I think has been documented here and that's the fact that video playback stops or stutters, while the laptop is being moved. I feel like the two issues are related, one is just a more extreme version of the other.  There's a few things (i believe) I've ruled out: I thought it might be related to the HDD protection, so I disabled it. The problem still persists, however. Maybe I'm not doing it right, or maybe there's some way to disengage the HD sensors even further, so any guidance would be great. The battery on this laptop is a bit loose (also documented on the forums). I at first thought this had to be the issue, since the first couple of times it happened it was while moving my laptop around my house (on battery power). I have since discovered that the issue happens while connected to the power supply as well. Also the threads on here regarding the battery seem to all indicate that the slight looseness is not enough to displace the contacts to a point where the laptop would ... Read more

Actually, your issue was one of the very first SSS scenarios reported last March or April.  I recall watching the YouTube video one W520 owner made of this exact scenario. At that time we all thought the Active Protection System (APS) sensor and software was faulty but disabling it didn't help.

I would like to purchase a carrier unlocked Sierra Wireless EM7455. Is it possible to update/modify the firmware on the Lenovo CRU part, allowing alterantive to At&t and Verizon carrier options? Does anyone have a trusted source to buy unlocked versions that work with Lenovo MoBo's?I'd like to use T-Mobile (via google fi) in the States, and Three mobile in Europe. Also if the Lenovo part is able to be unlocked, which of these two is the one to be ordered? What is the difference?http://search3.lenovo.com/search?w=sierra%20wireless&fsearch=yesThanks

Hi - I've got a Lenovo Thinkpad X300 with an OEM Sierra Wireles MC8775 HSDPA card, driver 2.0.9.0, 1/11/2007. It has worked fine except in two instances: first when traveling from the US to Switzerland, upon arrival it "failed to initialize" the device as I tried to run the dialer. This was true despite cold restarts. About a day later it started working, and working consistently, in Switzerland. Upon return to the US exactly the same phenomenon: unable to initialize for about a day. Then, working fine.Lenovo is ready to replace the card, but does anyone know if this is a software or other glitch for which I shouldn't trouble them? Something having to do with switching countries?  (And do I appear to be running the latest firmware/drivers? Firmware is H1_1_9_3MCAP.) Thanks,JZ

Answer:Sierra Wireless AT&T WWAN issue

To follow up for any that come later: the card was replaced, but experienced the same phenomenon in going to the Netherlands and back again to the US.  This time I downloaded and ran the "Sierra Wireless Watcher."  After the wireless radio was turned on it sat at "searching..." for about five minutes, then found the new band.  Once found it sticks, so the regular Lenovo dialer can then be used.  So it's not a hardware problem, and there's a solution.  ...JZ

Hi thereWe have a new x61s 7667-cto with sim card slot and sierra umts modem .Sim card is in place and sierra driver looks correctly installed , however is not clear how to activate and setup the umts sierra modem.any help will be apreciatedThanksMirco

Answer:X61s Sierra wireless activation

That is usually done via the Connection Manger software supplied by an ISP.  I have no idea what is supplied with a 7667-CTO, but the Sierra Wireless generic Connection Manager (on the Sierra web site) might work.

My lenovo came with Sierra Wireless MC5725 for use with Verizon's EVDO network. VZAccess manager (Verizons POS software) told me today that there was a firmware update for my Sierra Wireless device. This update failed, and now my device won't work.  I basically can't enable the device.  It doen't show up in my network list, and I can't turn it on using the fn+F5 screen. Where can I get the firmware for this thing?  Sierra Wireless says they don't support these OEM devices, and Lenovo has nothing regarding firmware on their site, only drivers. I hate Verizon.

Looking to setup a network with a hotspot.

and what i'm going for is a setup like this:
(thanks to the original poster for this image).
I apparently have very little knowledge on what i'm doing here, I've been trying at this for about a week when i have had time and after about 5 failed attempts, the most i've managed to accomplish is getting my router to connect to the hotspot. I'm actually at the office so i apologize about the lack of detail at this time. when i get to a pc I edit/update this post.
any info. helping me in the right direction would be appreciated.

How to flash the firmware of the sierra wireless em7345 on windows 10 ?  Its not possible through the steps i could find which was only for widnows 8.

Answer:Sierra Wireless EM7345 windows 10

HiOnce the modem drivers are installed, including Intel flash tool, and the sim card inserted, during laptop cold start the flash service checks out whether newer firmware is available according to current modem fw and the sim card data (more clearly, cellular operator MCC/MNC values), and performs the flashing process if it's needed, in auto mode. You should see appropriate notification from the flash service in the system tray.

I've installed Sierra MC8355 drivers on Windows 10 64-bit. Drivers installed successfully, Network connections show new 'Cellular' connection, Device manager shows new Sierra 8355 devices which have drivers installed. So it looks like everything is ok with drivers (Windows 8.1 drivers) on Windows 10. My question is - what should I install to be able to use that 3G and GPS? How can I perform a 3G connection and run GPS tracking? I tried software for Windows 7 - it failed.

Answer:Sierra Wireless MC8355 on Windows 10

Hi and welcome, OxeliPlease, clarify: aren't you able to establish 3g connection using win10 mobile broadband features? What are the symptoms? To enable GPS capabilities, reinstall the drivers with option GPS=1 in the setup command line (note, use the setup installer, not the drivers package). Or, if there is configuration file in the folder where drivers are being extracted, change appropriate settings within it.

I have a new T540p running Windows 10 with a factory installed Sierra Wireless EM7355, Qualcomm Gobi 4G LTE/HSPA+/EVDO/GSM/GPRS/EDGE, GPS, M.2 Card and I cannot get any GPS functionality with this. On my previous T510 /Win7  and a Qualcom Gobi 2000  I could use  the Thinkpad GPS program to manage the GPS, and then my mapping and navigation programs would see the GPS as a Comm port and connect with no problems at all. Reading posts here, it seemed that a program called GPS Complete from turboirc.com would do the job; I downloaded and installed it, and it seemed like it worked once, but now it doesn't. What's the solution here? (I have a USB GPS, but I bought a top of the line laptop because I wanted built-in GPS capabilities.) Edit: The wireless WAN/Mobile Broadband is activated through Verizon Wireless and is functional. Wifi, Bluetooth, and other communication features all work properlyp Thanks!

Com port or sensor? 2. Do you see location sensor em7355 related in the Device Manager?3. I hope you are using GPSComplete app properly. Whether the second device (com port?) had appeared in the Device Manager?4. Is location feature, based on the em7355 card, enabled in the win10 settings menu?5. em7355 location features might depend on the drivers installation options, similar previous Gobi gererations. Navigate to the folder where the drivers package is extracted, with .msi installer inside. There should be .ini file with options for installer. Post its content here.6. I hope you know the 1st fix after wwan modem based on GPS sensor cold start needs a long time, 10...20 minuts and more, especially indoor

Hello, I am having issues with the EM7355 network card for Verizon Wireless. I have a sim card installed in my computer linked to an active service plan. Unfortunately I am having troubles getting this to work. My windows 10 pro connection manager says Cellular: No Service. I havent setup any API yet under the windows tool. Also, I noticed that the Lenovo activation software doesnt work as it cannot find a card. Windows does see the card and when I look at the details, it seems to be able to read the sim card as it popuates the phone number from the line.  Any help would be appreciated. Regards Richard

Hi, jkuengWhat's the OS installed on your laptop? For win8/8.1 there are no needs for drivers if the card is in MBIM mode. It must work natively in OS. Let's check it. Look at the Device Manager, open Network Adapters item. You should see something with AiarCard. Open Properties, Details tab, pull down Options list, find out an item Compatible ID. Looks like USB\Class_xx&SubClass_xx&Prot_xx). Copy the values and past here. Will look.

Also, could you, please, post here USB IDs of this card? Find it at the same list under Hardware ID item (looks like VID_xxxx&PID_xxxx).

I have an X1 Yoga 20FQ with Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit and a Sierra Wireless EM7455 WAN card that came with the unit from Lenovo and an AT&T micro SIM card (also in the unit when it came from Lenovo). I also have the latest Lenovo software for the Sierra Wireless card (v. 7.47.4743.0105) from the Lenovo web site. The WAN card will connect to HPSA on AT&T (using the "default APN" and "broadband" in the Win 10 settings) but it will not connect to AT&T LTE. The AT&T web site at https://www.att.com/esupport/article.html#!/wireless/KM1218316 says to use NXTGENPHONE as the APN, but when I input that as the APN the card does not see it at all. I know that NXTGENPHONE is the LTE APN because that is the APN that my cell phone uses for its LTE data connection. AT&T tech support told me I the Windows 10 and NXTGENPHONE APN settings are correct and the AT&T diagnostics show I an LTE connection is available to me.I realize that there can be sources for this problem (Win 10 or AT&T) but I thought I would ask here to see whether anyone has experienced the problem or has a solution.Thanks.

I have a W510 laptop and recently acquired a Sierra Wireless 250U cellular device from Sprint. This device allows for both 3G and 4G service.  This is accomplished through the installation of two network adapters.  Although the 3G service works great, I cannot connect to the 4G service. I found that the WiMAX adapter is shown in the Device Manager with an exclamation mark.  A Code 12 Error is shown on the device.  Typically with Code 12 errors, the dialog box will show which other device conflicts with the current one.  The dialog box shows "No Conflicts".  There is however, a question mark (?) next to the I/O Range. Any suggestions on how to get this device to work on my Lenovo? Thanks.

If I have understand correctly EM7345 is made specifically for Lenovo based on their requirements and specifications. Lenovo is also responsible for this firmware....on Carbon X1 etc...   I found an interesting AT command for Sierra Wireless EM7345. The command is ?AT+XCIQ?. There?s the following text string in EM7345 firmware file (it is present in any version so far): +XCIQ CIQ: Carrier IQ enable/disable.Let?s try to get ?help? about this command:  AT+XCIQ=? +XCIQ: (0-1) OK1234AT+XCIQ=?+XCIQ: (0-1) OKSo, we can suppose that 0 disables this Carrier IQ feature, and 1 enables it.Let?s read the current setting of this feature: AT+XCIQ? +XCIQ: 1 OK1234AT+XCIQ?+XCIQ: 1 OKLooks like it?s on by default. Let?s try to switch it off?NOTE: If you?re running firmware earlier than 1522.02, don?t enter the following command! If we try to enter: AT+XCIQ=01AT+XCIQ=0i.e try to disable Carrier IQ, EM7345 will have a fatal crash and reboot into boot flashing mode and it will be stuck there for good. So, Carrier IQ is always on and if you try to turn it off using the above AT command, that will kill the device! With firmware version 1522.02, AT+XCIQ=0 returns OK and there?s no fatal crash like in previous firmware versions. Also AT+XCIQ now accepts 3 possible values with 1522.02 firmware: AT+XCIQ=? +XCIQ: (0-2) OK1234AT+XCIQ=?+XCIQ: (0-2) OKSo, 0 must be disable, 1 enable, and what is 2? Just my 2cents, but have you tried putting the SIM in a regular handphone/cell phone?  Sometimes, some carriers may require you to "activate" the SIM.  You may also need to put in APN, etc information in the "Advanced Options".

Dear All, Is it possible to help?I bought Lenovo X61, 7675-K2U, Windows XP with built in from Lenovo Verizon Sierra Wireless 1xEV-DO Network Adapter, Hardware version MC5725 with antenna and all other necessary things. I am using my Laptop in the Europe, actually in Latvia where are available such providers as: Tele2, Bite (partner of Vodafone), LMT (partner of Telia Sonera). I would like to use WWAN services in my country and I am going to understand that I must to change my current adapter to WWAN Sierra Wireless MC8775 HSDPA adapter. Is it right way and it helps and is it possible to change? Thank you and best regards,xAlexx

Will Lenovo add official support for Sierra Wireless MC7710 http://www.sierrawireless.com/productsandservices/AirPrime/Wireless_Modules/High-speed/MC7710.aspx please ? It is LTE/HSPA+ WWAN "Gobi 4000" module for Europe region. By support I mean to whitelist the device in BIOS at least, assuming the WWAN card will be Lenovo branded one for X230 model. Please consider that many of us could wait for X230 with official 4G WWAN support but the keyboard layout change was unacceptable so we bought X220 instead. Because Lenovo don't want to introduce ThinkPad classic keyboard as X230 option they could allow X220 owners to use up-to-date WWAN cards instead.

Answer:X220 support for 4G/LTE Sierra Wireless MC7710 WWA...

There is a little bit problem for implementing full featured LTE support in x220 - mc7710 needs 3 antennas. Perhaps one of them is for GPS only, I don't have clear information. MC7700/7750 support restricted number of bands for US market so may be they don't need 3rd antenna in x230. We'll see some answers when x230' parts list will be published and compare antennas FRU.But your request is very important for me too.

Hi Support, I would like to change a setting, so that the Sierra Wireless Adapter only connects to 4G networks. In Windows 10, I cannot see anywhere where I can easily set this. I would expect there to be mobile management software where these settings could be changed. I never want to connects to GPRS, and would like my Sierra Wireless mobile card to only connect to 4G or not connect at all. This would prevent the card dropping down to GPRS when the signal is temporarily weak and force it it to try for a 4G connection. I have had similar functionality on prior USB mobile data cards I.e. Vodafone, and hence the expectation that there would be similar settings on the Sierra Wireless. Thank you, George

All, I'd really like to be able to purchase a wireless cellular card for my X220T that is capable of connecting with Verizon 4G LTE at 4G LTE speeds.   This is particular of interest since Verizon is strongly looking into Family Data Share Plans where testing is to begin either 2nd Quarter or 3rd Quarter this year. http://www.electronista.com/articles/12/02/28/verizon.to.bring.out.shared.data.plans.in.summer/ I contacted Sierra Wireless  about their AirPrime cards and they say that Lenovo has to flash the cards with some stuff before they can actually work on the Lenovo laptops.   So, I'd really like to be able to have one of the 4G AirPrime cards ready when Family Data Plans are made available.  I can turn my phone into a wireless hotspot.  However, that drains the battery really really fast (about 1% a minute).  The integrated solution is therefore the more ideal solution even when considering a card vs a usb stick.  I'm guessing the card would draw less power.  Plus you don't have to worry about carrying around a usb stick you may lose. This card should be tested to work with both Windows 7 and Windows 8.  And there should be a way to toggle power to the card on/off just like with bluetooth and wifi.  This list of AirPrime cards Sierra Wireless makes are here: http://www.sierrawireless.com/productsandservices/AirPrime/Wireless_Modules/High-speed.aspx I think the one that is neede... I'm also wondering whether there will be Lenovo support for MC7710 (LTE in Europe) in X220 http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/X220-support-for-Sierra-Wireless-MC7710-WWAN/t...   Yes, I could have waited for X230 but because of the ruined keyboard layout I had to buy X220. I'm sure it is technically possible but I fear Lenovo will not be willing to suport LTE cards in older models.

Answer:Help Needed In Setting Up Sierra Wireless EM 7355

HiI hope you mean em7355, so the thread title has a typo. Please, specify.em7355 is useless in Sri Lanka LTE networks as it is suitable for North America networks mainly. Do your SIM card or contract with cellilar operator have LTE only service restrictions? In your country this modem will work in 3G networks only, depending on the cellular operator.

Hi,I'm using the X61 with the build in Sierra Wireless MC5725 Modem. I've installed the drivers and everything else needed to run the device correctly except the Access Connection soft (not a big fan). Currently I'm running Windows 7 RTM (MSDN) 64bit Professional (alto I had the same problem on Vista Business 64bit). I've set up an dial-up connection and every time I try to connect I'm getting the 633 - device in use error. Hi I have a Lenovo T410 from my work, and when I check Modems it says it has Sierra Wireless AirCard HSDPA Modem, but can't see this in network adaptors. How do I use this with my 3G data card? Thanks KB

Answer:Lenovo T410 Sierra Wireless Aircard and 3G SIM?

@KevB,Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think the Sierra WWAN card is supported on the ThinkPad, I can't seem to find the drivers for Sierra card when checking on the support site.Drivers for WWAN for T410 based on the Lenovo Support site are for the following modems.-Ericsson-HuaWei-Qualcomm-LeadcoreThe sim slot for the WWAN would be behind the battery. Remove the battery and you can see the slot with the plastic to pull the dummy sim card out. Note that even if there is no modem installed, there still would be a dummy slot there.

HelloI have a W541 running Windows 7 (64bit). I've found 'Sierra Wireless GNSS Sensor EM7345 4G LTE' appearing with exclamation mark icon in the device manager. Lenovo solution center also shows it as disabled device. I have downloaded and installed latest driver (2.17.10870.4454). After installation the device seems fine in device manager but as soon as I restart the notebook the device appears again disabled in the device manager. I?ve just found in the README file the W541 is not listed as supported model by Windows 7. According to this file W541 is supported by W8 or W10 but unfortunately I?m not able to install any other OS on the laptop. Can I expect to have support for W541 with W7 in a future software release? ThanksZoltan

Answer:W541 Sierra wireless EM7345 GNSS Sensor

I'm having the same problem with my Sierra Wireless 7345 on a W550s running Windows 10. It came with the laptop, so I'm sure it's supposed to be compatibile. I think it's a driver compatibility problem. Unfortunately, I've just chalked it up to the "Windows/Lenovo" tax - some things work, others just don't. I've gotten no reponse from Lenovo.

Have been experiencing major difficulties connecting to the Internet via Sierra Wireless 881U Device on AT&T network. I am using Sony Vaio VGN-NR220E.

The problems started with installation of Vista SP1.

Can connect to the AT&T Network fine - no issues there. Can connect using AT&T Client, Manufacturers Client, or by configuring the modem in DUN.

Specifically, the device always provides "local only" access to the network, but no Internet connectivity EXCEPT between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. During these hours, everything connects properly with no different settings or changes being made.

When I attempt to diagnose/repair the connection through windows - get "ip setttings are invalid" message, and auto-repair (get new settings option and reset apapter option) do not work. The error message I get is

"cannot connect to dns server"

I have tried netsh int ip reset and netsh int ip resetlog.txt (per AT&T) and get "echo request" error - access denied.

Answer:Internet Connectivity: Vista SP1 and Sierra Wireless 881U

The fact that it's time dependent seems to scream that it's a ISP issue to me.

Hi , I have updated to the 1607 Anniversary Update in August and noticed that my WWAN Sierra Wireless EM7345 had problems starting up after reboot. Because of other problems with the 1607 I reverted back to 1511 and everything was alright again.A week ago I upgraded again to 1607 and again, my WWAN sometimes cannot start when booting up. The error log shows Miniport Sierra Wireless EM7345 4G LTE, {b343453c-24e6-493d-ba47-33eaec4de5e3}, had event Fatal error: The miniport has detected an internal error (details see below). So this clearly has to do something with the 1607 update or the drivers for the WWAN. I am using the latest drivers from the Lenovo website and have also tried to update drivers in device manager. But no luck. What helps to finally start the WWAN is either a reboot (the chances the WWAN is started properly are about fifty-fifty) or clicking WWAN off and on in flight mode options of Windows.  Maybe someone has an idea other than waiting for Microsoft to fix this stupid 1607? Thanks and best regards,Martin  Log Name:      SystemSource:        Microsoft-Windows-NDISDate:          10.10.2016 06:37:19Event ID:      10317Task Category: PnPLevel:         ErrorKeywords:      (16384),(16),(4),(2)User:      ... My card just stopped working recently. Not sure if it's because my PCMCIA is dead, or if drivers aren't working properly. I've researched everything, uninstalled, re-installed, disabled USB root hubs, etc. But can't get my Sierra wireless watcher to recognize my device. In fact, Windows does not even recognize my wireless card either. Not sure if it matters, but my thinkpad x61s has the built-in Verizon one, but I use the AT&T. This was working fine with XP and with Windows 7. Now it's dead..... Anyone have same issue?

Lenovo why you lock the com ports on the Sierra Wireless EM7455 ????? USB composition for the EM7455 is set to 9, which is MBIM only. I need to have MBIM and also COM ports for the AT commands and NMEA GPS data. So I need the USB composition 8My question how to enable the com ports again ???thank you in Advance...

Answer:Sierra Wireless EM7455 COM ports are Locked... Lenovo Why do you do something like that?

Hello and welcomeThat's not a Lenovo deal to lock the ports, more clearly, to choose appropriate default USB composition. MS and Sierra do that. To change default USB composition change Sierra wwan card drivers installation configuration and reinstall them. Edit the configuration.ini file within the drivers package:- [Default Values] section- USBCOMP=x parameter (choose 8 as you want).

I have reinstalled but to no avail. The card works on another pc, so that is not the problem. At start up I now get the error message Generic Host for Win 32 Services, apparently this is a sp2 problem not sp3. The window also goes a biege color at times??? I am currently logged using dial up.
