Yoga 710-15IKB system freeze w/cpu at 100% due to NVidia.

Question: Yoga 710-15IKB system freeze w/cpu at 100% due to NVidia.

I have come to my last resort, which feels like I have wasted money on this Yoga - It has taken me almost a year, I still don't have a clean event log and the only thing I have minimized is the locking up of the machine when the nvidea goes haywire. Simple answer - on edge and explorer I force fed it the crappy Intel chip. Now it's 'rev up' is limited. I'm running Win10Pro 64bit. up to date on everything. This situation has been since the first day I used this thing. I can't trust it enough to use for work, so here it sits. just something to do nothing much with. Is there a real fix for this that makes better sense than having a GPU that isn't used?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am a very frustrated and angry customer at the moment as i keep running into Road Block and unacceptable answers.  This issue is enough to cause me to never buy another Lenovo laptop or any laptop at Best Buy!I bought my computer in July and in September i noticed a key had popped off-  the "< ," key next to the M key.  I have used the key board only when i was setting up-  now at my office and at customers i set it in downward dog mode ;-) and use a blue tooth key board.    So it is not from use that it broke.   I took the laptop into BEST BUY and was told that the key was missing a metal part on the back so they could not fix it onsite-  i would have to send it in and be without my laptop for a week to 10 days - unacceptable -  this was a month or more ago. I searched on the LENOVO website and could not find a way to purchase a single or the entire set of Keys!  I am self employed as a software consultant.   My life is pretty busy and i finally decided today to bite the bullet and ask for a call from Lenovo support.  Again i am told the only way to fix this is to send my laptop in for a repair.  I asked to just be able to buy a KEY - i am told that well they do not sell individual keys - they would replace the entire keyboard!  So sell me the keyboard and or send me one an i will take into best buy to have them replace it while i wait.  They cannot do that.   I live... The issue:

At times the GPU will spike to 100% and freeze the entire system, usually preceeded by the mouse "dragging" or slowing down and stopping. If I do not quickly stop using the mouse after the slowdown begins, the entire system will usually freeze and cannot be recovered without power cycling the PC. If I stop using the mouse in time, the system will recover to normal after a few seconds. (if playing sound or music when the slowdown starts, the sound is caught in a loop until the spike ends). This occurs often with nothing more than Outlook and a browser window open, more often with several applications running as is usually the state I work in, although not related to games or anything that heavily taxes my system. The offending process is usually csrss.exe (usually when running my ArcMap application), chrome.exe or firefox.exe (usually the only browsers I use) and occasionally dwm.exe. The firefox.exe process pic attached was just after resuming after suspend, which triggers the issue at times as well (although the browser related issue most often happens while actually browsing).

I have caught this pattern several times in the Process Explorer (see pics):
GPU usage spiking to 98%-100% (with preceding usage only around 1%)
The offending process appears to only be "using" 50%-70% of GPU during the spike
At the same time or just following the usage spike, there is a sudden drop in GPU dedicated memory.

A couple of times I have been... Read more

Hi, this week my system keeps freezing / hang on startup if all NVIDIA services and applications are set to run at start. How can I fix and identify other problems related to this? Is there anything I can do?
All drivers are up to date, today I even made a clean gpu driver installation using Display Driver Uninstaller in safe mode.

Hey! I just bought a brand new Lenovo V510-15IKB Laptop. The computer freezes without any reason in particular, and doesn't show any errors. I've already installed all the most up to date drivers and all the available updates both on lenovo support site, as the windows 10. The problems persists, happening at least a couple of times everyday, when it freezes nothing works, Ctrl+Alt+Del, nothing, hard reset is the only option. The computer is running windows 10 pro. This issues is really awfull, and happens without any warning, making me loose work, etc. Please help or share experience with similar situations. This is awfull since this is a brand new laptop, new model, new generation intel processor.... Thanks

Hi,

I'm try to run Steam VR Performance Test software on my P40 Yoga, but it fails to see my Nvidia graphics adapter. I found a topic which describes how to set Nvidia adapter per application, but this did not solve case. Also, I disabled Intel 520 adapter from device settings, this did not help either as the system did not find the Nvidia adapter after disabling Intel adapter.

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-P-Y-and-Z-series/Switching-between-Nvidia-and-Intel-onboard-Grap...

I wonder if it is possible to somehow set the Nvidia adapter to be the one and only available adapter for the system (W10 Home). Has anyone tried this?

Regards,

Kari

Question: Yoga 720-15ikb

Hello, i am thinking of getting the laptop above, but I have a few concerns. 1) is the wireless card in it already an intel 8265ac card? Is not, can it be upgraded with a FRU 01AX704? I'm not sure if it's compatible with the bios whitelist on this machine and my googling skills haven't come back with much! 2) what make is the SSD in this machine? Is it PCIE-NVME based? It only says 256gb. Can hard drives be replaced for any model or does it have to be in the whitelist like wireless cards? I'm hoping it's a Samsung pro 960 256gb! 3) I've also heard it's hard to install windows from scratch on these machines due to the controller for the hard drive being set to RAID rather than AHCI/NVME, which means windows doesn't detect it upon installation. I've heard there's a bios out there now which allows AHCI to be selected from the bios so it makes it straight forward enough (a lot of linux users wanted this!) but Lenovo have said it may cause issues with performance if installing windows through this way? Is this just Lenovo covering their backs or is this a genuine concern? any clarification on the bottom point would be great. thanks!

Hi, i bought this laptop with Windows 10 a couple of weeks ago and it ran smoothly for the first few days then it started to give me the blue error page. I did the recovery twice and the updates but the problem is still there. Fan is very noisy and the double finger tapping as right click doesn't work either. Any help? Thanks.

Using both the physical and on screen keyboard I can't send this desired input. Driver reinstalls did nothing. The hardware is fine. I can even get (alt+fn+down) to work. This isn't a global hotkey issue as best I can tell either. Some reported issues included the Intel Graphics Control Panel intercepting these inputs, so I disabled its hotkey manager and the problem persists.

I started having a problem with my screen when I tried to install a program called Monosnap. At first my computer screen was completely white and I had a hard time seeing anything. I uninstalled the program and it got a little better. Virus scans said I didn't catch anything. I reset to my previous Windows back up point and it got a little better. It still had like a white film over the screen with like a halo of pure color around the edges. Then I reinstalled the display driver and that fixed the problem with the permanent white film over everything, except now it randomly flickers completely white, with verticle lines. I've included a picture.

So, I too am reporting the ghost touch issue with my Lenovo laptop.  This is on the Yoga 710-15IKB model.  Same exact issue that others are reporting on the 700, 710, and 900 models.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled ALL drivers found for this model, updated drivers via Microsoft, have the BIOS update, made countless changes to the touchpad to see if it is the issue.  But, NONE of those things have worked.  The issue appears to happen randomly after waking up from sleep.  Usually within a few minutes after wake.  I can do NOTHING to stop the issue once it starts other than to hard reset the power button, then wait a few seconds and restart.  Once I've done that, the issue is resolved until... whenever it randomly wants to do it again... usually the next day. Lenovo... there has to be a solution to this!  You resolved it with a firmware upgrade on the older 700 model.  Can you work through the issue and get us a solution?  And, please, don't say to send the unit in for repair.  The issue clearly is a firmware issue.

Lenovo support, thank you for bios solution for windows it's really helpful, but you forgot one thing. That thing is Linux users!! Instalation Linux for that laptop is like a developers quiz, you should become UNIX developer to start FREE Ubuntu on that device. After installation new issues - drivers. What`s going on, Lenovo? I can't use my fingerprint on it, cause no drivers!!!! And the most painfull for me: NOIZE from laptop, it`s like a reactive rocket, on battery it work just 2-3 hours(at the same time linux use less CPU and RAM). Hopeful you'll provide any solution for us (Linux users).  https://drive.google.com/open?id=0ByHLDA4zXQ5eQXZEQVdfUWEwbDQBest regards,Bogdan

Having issues with constant ghost touches on touchscreen. Have tried checking for updates, uninstalling/reinstalling driver. Ended up disabling driver. Tried re-enabling after a bunch of updates and there are so many ghost touches that it took over a minute to click the "disable" button and make it stop. Have seen previous models have had luck with firmware updates. Anything like that available for the 720?

I have Sketchup Pro 2017 installed on my Yoga 720 laptop at work.  On paper it seems like this computer should be more powerful than the machine its replacing, but its performance in Sketchup is really slow.  It makes the program really difficult to use because its freezing and lagging so much.  I've run a quick diagnostic on the machine and it passed.  I also have run Sketchup with the task manager window open and it seems to be using about 35-45% of the memory while its running.  Is it a graphics card issue?  My collegue ran one of the same files I've been working on and it worked fine and her machine is in theory less powerful.  She is using Windows 7 however.  Could it be an operating system issue?  Any other ideas?

I just bought this machine and the display color is rather yucky and washed out. I did play with color calibration in the Windows 10 settings, and was able to match my existing monitor by turning red and green way down and then cranking up the saturation in Intel UHD 630 settings. The problem is, the screen now gives me headache because blue is turned up relative to red and green. So now I'm looking to see if I have the right color profile to begin with. The color profile associated with the monitor was "sRGB display profile with display hardware configuration set to.." Is this the right profile for this laptop? I did search and I couldn't find the color profile for this laptop. Microsoft site says I need to get the monitor driver, not the display/graphics driver, but I don't find that either. Does anybody know where I can find the downloadable color profile for this model?

Hi there,  My very new Lenovo Yoga 710 (15" IKB) laptop/two-in-one has been fantastic so far except in one regard. Whenever I play a game, the fan gets quite loud and the temperature shoots up. I'm not one hundred percent sure if this happened in the first few days but I have come to notice it far more recently. When playing a pretty standard game, such as World of Warcraft, the temp will shoot up to somewhere around 65 degrees celsius (sometimes up to 70) with the bottom getting quite hot, and the fans will become quite loud. Even a very low requirement game, like FIFA 15 (which is obviously 2 years old now), can cause the temp to reach about 60 degrees and the fans to get loud, and when dowloading a driver from Nvidia I noticed that the temperature had again risen, this time to 52 degrees with the fans spinning loudly again. I had earlier had a display issue that I fixed by downloading diplay drivers from Lenovo's website. I'm not sure if there's any driver I could download to rectify this issue (I already updated BIOS from the download on Lenovo's website)?

On my brand new yoga 710, from time to time, the screen with start to do small shifts vertically.  Windows is up to date, went through and did intel specific driver scan, which came up with lenovo having a custom display driver set. Has anyone else experienced something similar to this.... this is my first touchscreen system I have ever dealt with, so I'm not sure how these custom drivers function.  It is about one pixel shift, which is not much, but enough to make me want to throw this thing out the window 4 days after buying.

Hello, last thursday I got my brand new Lenovo laptop Yoga 710-15IKB. Everything went smoothly with the setup and the computer looked great was working fine. When I finished setting up some essential programs browser etc, and was watching a youtube video my laptop just froze, fan was running but the screen keyboard cursor frozen. I thought nothing of it and restarted my computer and nothing happened after that. So I thought I was free to enjoy my good looking device. But now after my third usage I closed my laptop and went out to run some errands I came back an hour later or so and tried to open my computer and keep on using it but to my surprise the screen stayed black. Completely black, no flickering or anything. So i tried to reboot it by holding the start button down for 10s giving the computer a minute or so to rest then turned it back on. Same thing happens Keyboard lights up for a second or two then the fans just keep running and the screen stays completely black. This is extremely frustrating since this is a brand new computer and I desperately need it for studying and work. Screen black, computer starts and runs I can hear the fans keyboard lights up at first but screen is completely black. I would appreciate a quick response Lenovo, I had so high hopes for my new laptop. Best regards, Elisabet.

Hello! In the past few days, my yoga laptop has been having this issue where if I unplug my headphones once, they won't work again till I reinstall my driver and restart my laptop.  However, once they are unplugged again I'm back at square one.  I've tried with three different set of headphones (different two earbuds and one normal over the ear type) and I have the same issue.I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Realtek High Definition Audio driver a lot of times in these past few days.  I've even tried installing it via redownloading the file from the lenovo support page and nothing seems to work.  Once the headphones are unplugged, only my speakers work.  It is like the laptop kind of recognizes that the headphones are plugged in, but will not play sound through them.I've also noticed that when I start playing music (while the music is still picking up my headphones) the music will start really quiet and then suddenly get VERY loud at random despite the volume number it is on.  Once it gets louder, it stays that way until the headphones are unplugged.  Then, I hear nothing once replugging them in.I'm not sure what to do and I hope I can get some help. Thanks!

Hi, I have this problem, which I also had on a 710-15ISK before I replaced mine with this model due to cracked screen. Intermittently, while "computering", the keyboard will stop working as expected.Only a variety of keys will work, like some mode has been activated by an accidental key press.Like I said, this happened on my previous 710 as well. It's frustrating because I'm learning programming, and the issue doesn't resolve until I sleep the laptop and unsleep it, which makes me believe it isn't some key combination I'm hitting, but rather maybe a jam of the keyboard. The same keys stop working each time, and same for the keys that remain working. If I can if it happens again, I will write down each key working/not working, but until then, does anyone have some insight on this?

Hi, I just bought this laptop 2 days ago, and i really am impressed with how it performs. The only problem i've incountered earlier this morning is that some of the keys in the keyboard didn't work (the P,Z,C keys). I left it on sleep the night before.  After i restarted and remove my mouse from the laptop, it suddenly works again. My question is, is this showing some sign of malfunctioning keyboard? I don't want to always have to restart my laptop and doing all the steps above. Any advice?

Currently I'm playing music on Google Play music which plays fine until I'm about to click on another page or go to the home of google play for example and it stutters for a few seconds. Also not sure if this is related, when I use my bluetooth speaker, audio stutters really bad, worse than when using internal speakers. Possibly two different problems but for now I really only care about the internal speakers stuttering as I rarely use my bluetooth speakers on my pc. Any hardware can be specified.

Last week I spilled drop of coffee+milk on my trackpad and it stopped working properly (I know you think I must have actually dropped a gallon but I asked my friend to come over and open my laptop with me and after we opened it, he couldn't see anything -- he was skeptical that I had dropped any liquid whatsoever, so, yeah, it was a drop of milk+coffee on the wrong place..). The pointer was behaving erraticatly and my friend and I, not tech savvy but rational ppl, figured that it must have short-circuited. So I went to ebay and order a replacemente part. The trackpad came with the keyboard + palmrest. The trackpad seemed to be a perfect match. The palmrest was a little bit different. My laptop has the fingerprint reader but the one I ordered didn't have. I thought it wouldn't make any difference since I only wanted the trackpad. The replacement arrived. I swapped the trackpad, made sure all cables were connected (there's actually only one but you got the point), closed my laptop, turned it on and... the trackpad was still not working.  Does anyone have any idea of what I should do next? I took a closer look on the letters and numbers I found on the trackpad and compared the original with the replacement and there's one or two numbers/letters that are different but they are otherwise identical. I can't make sense of why it didn't work and can't think of what to do next. I'd really appreciate some feedback. Thanks,

Hi, MP87 ?

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

If you get the white screen during POST but the display is fine on an external display then the cause if most likely the LVDS cable. Try to reseat or change this part and observe.

Recently I found out that my lenovo yoga 710-15ikb laptop doesnt support digitizer active pen technology. Its hidden in online talks and also frustration when you buy a $70 wacom bamboo ink pen to find that it doesnt work. I understand that most active pens wont work with my computer because the screen (and maybe motherboard) dont have a digitizer. However, I have been looking online and some retailers appear to be selling digitizer lcd screens for my specific model. My question is whether or not these retailers are selling aftermarket screens and if they are will the digitizer work once one is installed? Also, I have a lot of experience doing repair work, mainly with digital cameras and building my desktop, so the task of replacing my laptops screen is not a problem Im just unsure as to whether or not buying a new digitizer lcd screen will work. I dont want to spend money that I dont have to if it turns out that I am just being misled.

Thanks!

Let me know if you need more clarification I'll be around for a while.

Two days ago, my internet was being slow, and I had the adapter reset as per usual through the WiFi troubleshooter. The adapter for the first time caused a BSOD when doing this. So I thought "Fine, its a one time thing", I didn't get the chance to get the error message but the cause involved the adapter, I know that much. When my laptop restarted, I noticed a nice little "x" on the speaker tray icon. Scrolling over it, it told me that "No Audio Output Device is Installed." Nothing I did would fix it, including the basic solutions across the internet such as uninstalling the drivers, etc. While looking at the drivers, not all of them were missing, only maybe one or two, definitely one in the Sound, video and Game Controllers area with the name (MEDIA) in it (that much I remember, I believe it was from NVIDIA too), along with one that was put into the "Other Drivers" area, or whatever it was called, by Intel but with a yellow exclamation mark on it and it related to audio. I got the problem to be fixed by doing a system restore back to the 10th, before some updates occurred.Last night, my keyboard was malfunctioning (not allowing me to backspace, only allowing me to type in certain areas, not allowing me to use the letter "C", and telling me to backspace by hitting "Alt + LeftArrow." (And this was occurring in multiple browsers, not just one)I did another system restore and the audio problem reappeared, but this laptop is quite new, I've ran out of restore points to go back to.... I have looked through all the documentation from Lenovo and on these forums and have not been able to determine which version of the HDMI spec (1.4 or 2.0) the micro-HDMI port supports. Although this laptop has a 4K display, I wouldn't necessarily expect that the micro HDMI port to be 2.0 but it would make since and would be a smart thing to do.

Hello.  When I attempt to unmute the microphone function so it can record, it automatically switches back to mute.  And the "Apply" button never highlights.  Perhaps this is why the unmute never keeps.  Any assistance would be appreciated.  Thanks!

After i upgraded to BIOS 2XCN30WW(V2.05) dated 2017/06/21 i started to experience lags and temporary freezes (for 20/30 seconds and it would recover) while using windows 10 creators edition. The lag/freeze can be described as a period of time every 10 minutes or so in which the computer stops responding to keyboard input and eventually to mouse movements, if you had a youtube video or audio playing in the background it starts coming out distorted, everything makes you think there is something hogging the CPU or RAM, it recovers itself after 20 or 30 seconds, sometimes less than that.I first blamed Slack Client but quickly found that it didn't have anything to do. It didn't seem related to load as the CPU/RAM usage in Task Manager remained low during these periods.I then blamed a recent Windows Update patch , which i rolled back prompty without noticing any changes. My last option and what ultimately resolved the issue is the rolling back the BIOS upgrade that i applied at about the same time of the windows patch.I enabled the Allow Back-Flash option in BIOS setup and rolled back to version 2XCN29WW, and the problem dissapeared for good, and just to confirm that the BIOS was to blame after a few days of happy computing i decided to give the new BIOS another try and TADAH! soon after the update the freeze/lags started again.I just wanted to share this with you guys in hopes that if you are having similar issues you can resolve them using this message. And since Lenovo doesn't seem... As in my subject, can the Yoga 720 (15-inch) be hooked up to a 2560x1440 @ 144Hz External Monitor? I understand that I have to get a usb-c to DisplayPort adaptor to get it to work. However, I am not sure of the DisplayPort specifications in this Thunderport 3 port of Yoga 720 as for a laptop to run 144Hz on an external monitor, it has to be at least DisplayPort 1.2.

Answer:Yoga 720 - 15IKB: Can it be hooked up to a 2560x1440 @ 144Hz External Monitor?

I'm not an expert with monitors, but I'd check the monitor's specs to see what kind of inputs it'll work with. I would imagine the monitor will upscale or adapt to the input signal. It'd be silly to make a monitor that wouldn't work with anything the installed base of computers can throw at it.

I have a customer who has the above model Lenovo laptop. She hooked up an an external display via HDMI using a HDMI-mini HDMI adapter connected to the mini-HDMI port of the laptop which was working fine for more than a few months. She was using the Best Buy Insignia brand. All of a sudden, the external display no longer detected the laptop and the laptop didn't detect the second display. I remoted in and checked everything out and it seemed OK as far as drivers and such so, for simplicity sake (and after having her verify the external display was working wtih other devices), I had her pick up an Insignia HDMI-miniHDMI cable and just bypass the adapter. She tried that, no luck. So I remoted in again and uninstalled the Intel and Nvidia drivers and reisntalled them using the drivers from the Lenovo website. There was no change. I've done some extensive research about this issue in the forums and there have been other models with similar issues and the fixes were... using a different cable, different adapter, or both. These were mainly solutions to solve the problem of secondary displays not being detected at first, not fixing the issue of it working just fine for a while until one day... nothing. Has anyone come across an issue similar to this? I'm trying to get more of a definate solution versus swapping more adapters and cables around. One last idea I have is to hook it up to my monitor via an HDMI to DVI adapter using her HDMI to mini HDMI cable but I have a feeling, th... Read more

Dont really know where this thread would go but just a good a spot as any I think......

a Friend recently turned me to Deep Freeze, because I was complaing about stuff getting on my computer. I installed it to my laptop have a seperate thawed partition (whatever its called) and thus far I really like it.
.... The problem comes with my desktop; I have installed deep freeze everything installed fine except the little bear icon wont show up nor will it freeze. I have seen similar threads but they dont really specify what to do, or I just cant carry it out.

Like... "Thank you for a quick reply to my post. This is exactly my problem. I have a motherboard with the nVidia nForce2 chipset (I know, it's a kind of old...)

To solve this issue, I reinstalled my OS and all of the nVidia drivers. Then I customized my new installation to my specifications and when I finished with that, I uninstalled the nVidia IDE driver. I restarted the computer and then I installed Deep Freeze and now it works perfectly."

well i dont know where to go to uninstall this "nVidia IDE" driver...? (sorry for writing a novel)

Hi !
Now I've tried mostly everything within reason, trouble and knowledge, so I need some advice here.

First for the goods:
I've got a brand new ASUS motherboard, P5Q-EM, with a Intel dual-core E8400 3GHz processor, a 500W MIST powersupply with 20A on 12V, and then the troublesome Gainwards NVidia 8800GT card.

The software:
Vista 32bii Ultimate SP1. All drivers up to date afaik.

The symptom:
Whenever I try to access the video card above anything basic, like f.e. just starting the PC Wizard 2008, the system freezes completely up. PC Wizard writes out what it does on its status line, and it stops when it says its reading the video card.
It also happens whenever I seem to trigger anything with a little bit more than basic graphic, may be 3D or something.
It freezes, and requires a cold boot to recover. And no trace of whatever happended in any logfiles I've found.

Further, if I just start up the NVidia Control (form Control panel f.e.) it freezes on the first pane, where it's supposed to show some 3D.

I've been through countless similar, but not identical threads all over the net, but haven't found anything that seems to help.
So has anyone out there experienced something similar, or have the expertise to give some solid advice ?

best regards
Terje - A "depressed" software guy

Hello
My rig is quite old now but was completely stable under Windows 8.1 and until a couple of weeks ago, I'd got it stable under 10 too. In general, since upgrading to Win 10 Pro 64 bit, I've experienced a succession of stability problems, too many of which seem to relate to nVidia drivers. Sudden freeze up problems started happening again just recently to which there was no recourse except to hard restart.

My system has two nVidia GTX280 cards and a multi monitor setup. Issues with and the updating of nVidia drivers has been the cause of delight and despair in equal measure. It wasn't until version 341.85 (for my particular cards) came out that I finally got my system stable. Anyhow, recently there was an update release (version 341.95) that installed itself courtesy of the not very controllable Windows 10 updating regime. It came in with a load of other updates. Suddenly, my system was freezing up again, as in everything would suddenly stop (including the clock) but interestingly, any audio playing at the time continued. No black screen, BSOD, warnings or errors.

As I'd experienced so many issues with the nVidia drivers in the past, my instinctive reaction was to look there first. Sure enough, a thorough safe mode uninstall then re-installation of the previous version drivers and the problem was fixed ........ until the nVidia driver updated itself again via Windows update. Hello, i'm posting here 'cause i'm desperate
My pc worked fine some times ago, but now vista crash with the most of games.

Just to made some titles Grid, SimCity Civilizations...
my configuration is that:

Vista x64 Home Premium
Motherboard Intel DP35DP with Q6600
4GB OCZ DualChanell 800Mhz 5-5-5-15
Geforce XFX 8800 GTS (driver 175.19)

the tipical behavior is that
the game looks works fine until it will stop to respond to any control
the mouse pointer will not respond and the keyboard also.
the Sound / Music will go on for a while, just like nothing appens... after a few seconds the sound will freeze too, and looping .
yesterday i've listened a whole song before the sound be freezed too.

Old game like Caesar IV or Flatout2 works fine, so i'm going crazy about that ...
This is a realy frustrating situation, so much that i'm thinking about to go back to xp.

Answer:Nvidia + Vista64 mostgame Crash / Freeze

Check all your drivers - with that 8800 GTS, if it is a G92 based card, then also look into the new beta 177 drivers that allow you ot run nVidia (formerly Aegia) PhysX software - will make games much more responsive that utilize the PhysX engine - like Crysis.

Finally, just so you know - look at my specs - and I have no issues with Race Driver GRID at all.

Windows 10 freezing/error message from NVIDIA.Nvidia says it is TDR issues and I should reflash the BIOS. Unable to obtain BIOS upgrade from HP or Phoenix.Need to find an updated BIOS.

Answer:Nvidia TDR error freeze Windows 10 computer

You should only get BIOS updates from approved sources such as those mentioned. Using anything else could ruin the motherboard. Are you using the latest NVIDIA drivers?Have you tried Uninstalling the NVIDIA drivers from "Device Manager" and restarting the computer? If you do this DO NOT let it remove software if asked. The idea is to let it find and set up the existing software again on restart, as if it is New Hardware.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

OK my GPU is Nvidia Point Of View GTS 450 2GB DDR3. Yesterday I tried to overclock with MSI Afterburner by increasing the values by 60-70 and than I reverted back to original. Today when I started the PC, everything went fine but when I installed The Sims 3 and started it, the PC froze and there were some mixed colors (more like medium length lines, red, purple, green, blue, pink etc. ) on the upper left and bottom right corner of the screen. Than I restarted and it was fine.. Is there something that I should be worried about. The card is bought last year in June/July and it still has warranty. Also I wanted to ask another question, is it better to buy GTX 460 or GTX 560 or just to upgrade this card to SLI

Answer:Nvidia GTS 450, PC freeze, weird color problem !

My guess would be that the OC settings are at fault here still. When you changed the OC settings back to default did you save and ok your way back out.

I recently installed one of Nvidia's MX400 video cards on my computer and almost immediately began having my system completely freeze up. Sometimes there would be a spontaneous re-boot, but not usually. Sometimes there would be a short delay (1-15 minutes) before everything would seize, sometimes I could not completely boot before seizing, but seizing was inevitable.

On occasion, I would get an error message telling me that (to paraphrase) Windows had detected an error related to the driver for the MX 400. Ah ha!!

So... I removed the MX400 and replaced it with my old card, downloaded the newest driver, followed the instructions and replaced the MX400. Rebooted and had the same problem.

I read numerous posts in this forum from others with what sounds EXACTLY like my problem. Someone suggested it could be heat. So, I tried running the MX400 with the sides of my case off and a fan blowing into the rear of the case. The problem continued unabated.

Hi guys,

I am having problems with computer freezing when playing games. I am guessing it's the graphics card Nvidia GeForce GT 220. Specs are:

Motherboard: Gigabyte EP43T-UD3L
CPU: Intel Dual Core E6500
RAM: 4GB DDR3
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GT 220
System: Windows 7, 64 bit

So the freezing happened 3 times so far after playing game for like 30 mins. It's not the blue screen but just when it freezes the speakers just like play that zzzzzzz sound and the monitor turns off. I guess because it does not receive any signal from the graphics card. Also at that point I can just turn it off by holding the power button. Then immediately if I turn it on it powers on until that motherboard screen and then just restarts and so on and on, so I have to turn it off and wait a couple of minutes and then turn it on. Then it's all normal.
Anyone can help?
Thanks

Answer:Computer freeze in games Nvidia GeForce GT 220

That sounds like overheating.

Can you check to see if the fan is working on the 220 card?

Also try running the system with the side(s) of the case removed to see if that improves things.

That would also be a good time to look and see how much dust has accumulated inside.

It's possible to set Win 10 to not update drivers through Windows Update. (It's harder to block other updates, but you can block drivers.)

System control panel, Advanced system settings, Hardware tab, Device Installation Settings. The setting was clear in the original Win 10 release (10240), but Microsoft has obfuscated it in the latest version (10586).

Recently I have been getting issues with BF3 and WoW since I installed the new NVIDIA graphics drivers. I've gotten BSODs as well as my PC randomly acting up. It works perfectly fine when I play games on a single monitor.

Sometimes all three screens just go into powersaving mode or something, but I can still hear Skype and music in the background but I dont see anything. A hard reset is required at this point.

I'm hoping someone can help me with a recurring Windows 10 crash.

First of all, I upgraded from Win 7 Pro to Win 10 Pro. Soon after, I began to experience crashes at apparently random times. in this case, "crash" always means display goes dark, monitor powers down, computer stays on, and everything is totally locked. The only way to recover is by powering down computer and re-starting. I soon suspected nVidia driver as other reported similar problems. I have updated to the latest nVidia driver (for my GTX 660) but have tried various older ones as well. I have tried to update other drivers as well. When installing new nVidia drivers, I have followed nVidia's suggestion and first used the Display Driver Uninstall utility and then done a clean install of the new driver.

When I uninstall nVidia driver and run on simple Microsoft display driver, the problem vanishes (but I really can't run anything that requires a faster display). The program "Who Crashed" shows no mini dumps after these crashes. The Reliability monitor shows nothing but "Windows stopped unexpectedly."

From Event Manager, the crital error message only reports "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down. The error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly." Before the crash, the same log reports MANY warning messages saying "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered."... Read more

Answer:Windows 10 Recurring Crash/Freeze - nVidia?

Ah, the stupid MS & NV GPU drivers for windows 10. Just yesterday windows 10 tried to download some kind of old 354.xx driver that isn't even on the NV site. It's a mess and a lot of people have had trouble with this. I did too until I did the following which may help you if you are doing something different:

So, I always clean install, but I don't use the remove driver utility. I only ever install drivers that have been directly downloaded from the NV site. (The very latest, 358.xx G-Sync is broken, and ackowledged by NV so if you use G-Sync stick to 355.98. Had no problems with that for over a month. I mean not at all.

Next may be more helpful. I never ever instal that bloatware know as NV Experience or something, and would never upgrade drivers using that program. (I heard you can, options limited, simple upgrade - bad idea.) Finally I never install 3D, sound whatever. I only ever install the driver itself (clean install) and Pysics X. Thats it. I have had several - more than 7 NV cards over the years and by doing this I've never had problems except with high OCs (of course) and for a short time when W10 came out. I don't know if that's any use to you, twhedbee, but try it. Driver from NV - never windows. Clean install. Minimum components, sensible NV CP settings.

Next idea may be the best in your situation (a possible solution for nvldddmkm issues.)
Also it's possible to delay the timeout from 2 seconds to more. (Often nvldddmkm errors occour because 2 secs it not... Read more

Read more

My Yoga 910 often freezes and not responding even I am just using Chrome and Excel. The CPU usage shows 40% usage. It happened more and more frequent. After I restart it, it will work fine for days but suddenly, without reason the problem will happen again (It is happening when I am writing this...) I have updated all the updates and my win10 system.

Hi All,I have a yoga 520 bought 3 months back. I have been constantly facing laptop freeze issue. It randomly happens while doing normal work like opening any file in Windows explorer or surfing net on Chrome. Below are the observations: The pointer moves but nothing opens/closes.I am not even able to open Task manger when this happens. CTL+ALT+DLT doesn't do anything. The action centre opens sometimes but all the options becomes disabled when this happens. The thing to note here is that no heavy task is running which might consume the CPU/memory. So I am pretty sure this is not a performance issue but something else. I have to long press the power button and start it again to get it working. Also my Windows 10 is upto date. I suspect that this has started happening after Windows Fall Creator update but I am not really sure. I have also referred below link which suggests to update the BIOS which I did but no results.  https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-Yoga-Series-Notebooks/New-Yoga-900-Constantly-Freezing/td-p/2229... Could anyone please help on this? let me know if you are facing the same issue.

Hi all,

Here is the situation: PC was running fine, and i was playing skyrim (who isn't?), then suddenly everything froze and i had to hard reset. Only windows froze after i put in my log in password. (After the black screen with starting windows). Tried a few things in vain, got desperate, and did a clean install. once i install latest Nvidia rivers, it'll freeze at log in again. It's driving me nuts! I can only log on if in safe mode or the nvidia drivers arent there. As soon as they're installed, freeze and crash. So here's what i tried so far:

1. Tested card on a friend's pc, it works fine.
2. Tried different drivers, uninstalling old ones with driver sweeper, still doesn't work.
3. Tried a GTX 260 on my mobo same pci slot, works fine with nvidia drivers.
4. It's not heat related (i think) as my case is well cooled and temps have always been low.

I just don't get it, card is not broken, clean windows install, and crash as soon as there are nvidia drivers?! How am i suppose to make sense of that?!
This is way above my head now, and i have to turn to the expert's help to solve this problem from hell. If i need to upload anything to help you help me, let me know.

Here are the specs:
Asus P7P55D mobo
i5 750 OC'ed to 3.6 (cooled by Silver Arrow)
Palit GTX 570 (factory overclocked)
D-link network card
Windows 64 bit home premium disc.

My pc's fate rests in your hands now!

Answer:Windows freeze and crash at log in if Nvidia drivers are present!

Hello, and welcome to Sevenforums. If you follow the instructions for posting your issue, http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html, you will probably get help soon. Thanks.

Edit: I received a message from someone more experienced (FredeGail) saying the DMP files are not necessary as this is not blue screen related. However, I would be interested in seeing the health report. Thanks.

There is a problem with laptops which use mobile GTX 1050/1050Ti/1060/1070. When we perform right click, click on battery icon or try to open display settings, system hangs for a second.
Here issue is listed as follows:
answers.microsoft.com/.../93e7004a-62b1-4211-8e37-4c136608865e

I confirmed that issue is also persist on 7577 + windows 10 17XX versions.

Answer:INTEL + NVIDIA Freeze Problem Confirmed in 7577

There is a few forum posts about it here at Dell.com.  To reduce or eliminate the problem, you have to turn off all the special effects that windows uses, like fade in and fade out and all that jazz.

I am having problems with Sketchup Pro freezing in a random fashion.  When it happens, the Sktechup window goes black and stays that way for a minute or so.  When it becomes responsive again, all that can be done is to close the program and start it again.  Any attempt to continue using the program results in an immediate freeze and another minute of wait.  The freeze seems to happen more frequently when attempting to move or resize an object.I have installed all the latest updates and drivers.  Any suggestion is welcome.  Here are the specs:T61p with Windows XP ProfessionalIntel Core 2 Duo T7700 @ 2.40 GHz3 GB of RAMNvidia Quadro FX 570M (512MB)

Hello everyone,

I recently did a clean install to get Windows 10, but I'm getting two issues atm.

The major one is a freeze crash where the computer will freeze, and the have the audio go really slow, robotic or at other times it will stutter/repeat. Sometimes the screen will also go black. It started happening around once per a day after I installed Windows 10. The only way to get out of it is to restart the computer, but when I restart it, the computer doesn't get past the windows loading screen. But on the 2nd restart after manually pressing the power button, it finally goes back to normal and boots up properly. It's happened around 4-5 times already since I installed Windows 10 a week ago.

The second issue might be related but around once a day, my screen turns black and I get a notification that Nvidia driver (model #) has stopped responding and has recovered. It's really quick and lasts only 3-5 seconds, so its not that annoying. This is a issue that I've had for a while even back in Windows 7. I always update the drivers for the GTX 660 Ti using Geforce Experience from Nvidia, but it never solves the issue.

I did get 1-2 BSODs since installing Windows 10, but I'm not sure if they are related.
In the dump file, there is information that says the BSOD error is a "VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR (199)" with the driver reporting a invalid fence ID. I looked it up online and I tried a solution, but it didn't work. I'm a bit stuck on what to do next.

Answer:Freeze Crash and Nvidia Driver Stopped Responding

I attempted to fix the "Driver has not stopped responding and has recovered" problem by going into the registry and creating a variable QWORD (64 Bit) called "TdrDelay", and I assigned it to a value of 8. I got the idea from Windows 10 - Display Driver Stopped Responding and Has Recovered - YouTube. So I'll just wait and see if that problem still continues or not. Though, I'm not exactly sure how delaying a GPU from restarting with the TdrDelay is gonna help if the whole point is that the GPU is stuck trying to do a operation and needs to restart, which in my mind would cause graphics processing to freeze up the computer screen.

Also, today I got another computer freeze, and what sucks is that I don't get a memory dump because a BSOD doesn't happen...

Edit:
I was reading a few other threads to see what else I can do. One of them suggested rolling back my 361.43 version of Nvidia driver back to 359.06. I'll try that after some time has passed to see if the TdrDelay actually did work.

Hi, I was running my pc for months fine with everything working fine, I am playing mafia 2 but everything is in black and white and kinda of blurry, so I go to the nvidia website and download the lastest drivers for my video card, after I intall them, I reboot and windows freeze at the windows logo screen, is obvious the drivers, but anybody could tell me if I can do something to solve this and make the computer run with the new drivers???

System:

Dell Optiplex 745
Intel core 2 duo 1.86GHz
2 Gb Ram
XFX 8500GT 512MB
Windows 7 Ultimate 64x

older nvidia drivers 257.21 (working fine) - new nvidia drivers 258.96 (freeze at start)

p.d. (I know is a crapy system to be running Mafia 2 on)

THANKS!

Answer:Windows freeze at start after installation of new nvidia drivers

Welcome to Seven Forums. Obviously the new driver isn't playing nice with your card.
If you can boot into safe mode I would suggest to, and then remove the new driver>reboot and re-install the older driver.

You might even want to try different drivers and possibly find one that works best with your card. heres an older one you might want to try http://downloads.guru3d.com/Forcewar...load-2525.html

It has been suggested to use a program like Driver Sweeper after you un-install the old driver to remove any remnants of the driver you have just un-installed before installing a new one.
http://downloads.guru3d.com/Guru3D--...up)_d1655.html

Sometimes they make changes in the new drivers that don't seem to work well with certain video cards. Especialy older ones or medium cards. Their focus is more on the newer GTX series cards, and sometimes can creste unforscene problems with other series cards
.
I would have to compare the release notes on the new driver to even try and guess at what might be causing the issue. You just never know.
It's kinds like back to the old saying if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I realize you were probably hoping for some increase in performance with the new driver only to find out for some reason it's causing you problems.
Sorry but that's about all I can think of.

I would also like to add that whenever I download a new driver or app I like to create a restore point.
That way once I have removed the driver/app I can easily restore my system to it'... Read more

Yes, DangerousRaccoon again. Back with more problems, I swear for every problem I fix I create 2 new ones. After having to replace the motherboard, processor and ram on my pc (tried a replacement mobo and still no luck) my computer was working fine, albeit slower due to hardware downgrade, until my display driver stopped responding. The colours went all bright and the screen froze, image was distorted, then crashed. When I booted again the problem remained, colours wrong and screen distorted as soon as the "boot options" page showed up. I reluctantly removed my GTX 480 video card and tried to run on my integrated graphics.Integrated graphics I have:NVIDIA GeForce 7100 / nForce 630i chipsetIt booted ok but the resolution was far too low. In device manager the display adapter had an error sign. Using Windows to auto-update the driver just caused crashes on boot. So I uninstalled the old display drivers for my GTX 480 and downloaded the most recent driver that supports my integrated graphics from the website (released Jan. 2015).After installing this, the computer boots fine, and the resolution is correct on the login screen. But after I enter my details the "Welcome" message appears and it freezes. Then the screen goes black for a couple seconds, then comes back on, still frozen, for another few seconds. This flashing repeats, and never progresses to the desktop.I'm in safemode at the moment, which boots fine with networking (obviously). I've been at... Read more

If it works properly in safemode but won't load in normal mode you have the incorrect vid drivers installed...They should come from the driver CD that shipped with the MBoard.

Hi there, I have  a Yoga 13 that I've had for the last month or so and about 10 times in the last two months app of the applications and inputs (mouse, keyboard, touchscreen) freeze.  After a minute or two, the device reboots on its own. I searched the other threads and disabled ymc.exe already as it seems to be the solution to some problems.  However, the problem still persists.  Any suggestions? thanks in advance.

hi peebee,

Welcome to the Lenovo Community.

Can you try to:
1. Perform a clean boot  but leave the lenovo apps and services enabled then observe the PC
2. Open the Event Viewer (press Windows Key+R > type eventvwr.msc), and check for errors that might be causing the crash / freezes.
 Spoiler (Highlight to read)

Let me know your findings

Hello, I'm experiencing issues with my Lenovo Yoga 2 13. It started at the time of the anniversary update of Windows 10 Home although I can't be sure it really started there. Before that everything was running smoothly. Symtoms:- In some applications the sound gets noisy, like an old scratched vinyl disk.- When running my old Warcraft III (normally in Win XP compatibility mode), the computer freezes in a loud buzzing sound after a random time, from 2 minutes to 1 hour. Forced shut-down pressing the power knob is the only way to unfreeze it. What I tried and didn't improve the situation:- Reinstalling the applications.- Changing the audio drivers to a generic version.- Updating Windows and all possible drivers.- Reliability monitor -While trying to update the BIOS using Insyde H20FFT from the Lenovo Support I get an error:"Get platform ROM map error in SMI!"SMI Return Code: 0xEF I'm trying to figure out if it's a hardware issue before reinstalling everything. I'd be happy to try your suggestions.
