I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've noticed for some time that my relatively new ~1 year Lenovo Flex 4 yoga, which has switchable graphics, has been running slower.  For instance, VLC has been unable to run certain movies, and running gameshow to record my powerpoint talks now leads to freezing and inability to save movies.  I finally found some free time to try a very basic 3D game (broforce, the overworld, 2 seconds into the game), and then my computer instantly slowed and shut itself off.  I downloaded the Heaven Benchmark 4.0 and the same issue occured, it barely rendered graphics and then froze.  I have all of the latest drivers and updates installed via a clean install.   Put simply, my computer is now completely unable to perform the most basic tasks that seem to be gpu related without slowing to a crawl and shutting itself off.  This includes very old games, new games, benchmarks, and even python rendering medium to large images.   Please please advise some tests I can do to see if this is a software issue.  I work a very very very hard job and this computer is my lifeline, and I need it not to have this issue.

Answer:Lenovo Flex 4 - 1470 suddenly can't run basic games, graphics benchmark, shuts itself off

I see that the AMD driver is indeed being used for broforce and for the horizon test, and that the GPU usage shoots to 100% and the gpu gets to over 100C instantly (within 5 seconds).   Hardware or software issue, thoughts?

Does anyone have a Lenovo - Flex 4 1470? (Win10/64bit) I bought mine in July 2016 and yesterday when I signed on I got a pop-up from Lenovo telling me about a "critical" Lenovo update. I am pretty sure if was referring to BIOS update = v.0vcn.22ww / 120 MB.
I clicked for it to install and then another pop-up saying something about it (possibly) changing binaries, etc. I didn't know what that was all about and so I cancelled the downlod.
Today I phoned Lenovo and spoke to a woman who said "they" didn't recommend downloading/installing updates to BIOS unless I was having problem with this laptop.
As I asked, does anyone else have a Lenovo Flex 4.1470? If so, did you get this critical update notice and if you did, did you install it?
I am 81 years old and know nothing about these things and wonder if I should just forget about downloading the BIOS update? Or whether it MUST be downloaded for this Lenovo to operate properly.
Thanks for any help.

Question: Lenovo Flex 4 1470

I've seen a few times where I have not used my Lenovo for a several minutes it will go into "sleep mode" and I have to hit the power button to open it again. But it is asking me to sign in. I have to turn it off by holding the power button and then turn it back on. And then it will start showing my normal desktop. How can I stop that "sign in" from showing? I never created a password and didn't think I need to do that.
Can anyone help?

In Sign In Options it has "Password.... Your account doesn't have a password. You must add a password before you can use the other sign-in options."
Whatever that means???? I never created a password and don't understand why it is asking me to "Sign In" when I turn in on from the Sleep mode.

HelloI have a flex 3 1470 (model 80JK001GUS) which comes with a NVIDIA graphics card (940m). I recently had a problem with power, I took it to a lenovo service center, and they replaced the motherboard to fix it. However, After replacing the motherboard, my laptop does not detect the presence of an NVIDIA card; I cannot install new drivers because it says that there is no card either.  The device manager lists it as "disconnected" (code 45) and has it hidden.  Here is what i have attempted to do so far(I have a restore point set before the attempts so if it doesnt work i can go back)1. Delete all NVIDIA drivers, programs (except GEFORCE EXPERIENCE), reboot run GEFORCE EXPERIENCE.-problem GEFORCE Does not detect NVIDIA GPU2. Attempt to install update to NVIDIA through downloaded driver from BOTH  LENOVO and NVIDIA.-neither detects a NVIDIA GPU3. Attempted "display driver uninstaller" -no gpu detected after following through with safe mode uninstaller, and then installing through downloaded driver setup4. Deleting hidden device: MOBILE 5TH GEN INTEL CORE PCI EXPRESS ROOT PORT 5.-it was hidden, and i saw another post saying he did it, but port 5 is listed as disconnected.-when i deleted it, it deleted the disconnected hidden 940M display adapter as well.5. Going into the service center and telling them "I dont know if the new motherboard has the nvidia gpu, because I dont think they make the mother board anymore-they said oh its there you... Read more

Hi I have a serious problem and need some help. I have a Lenovo ideapad y560. It was working great until last days. It started to shut down suddenly while playing games like call of duty 5 or fifa 11. Interestingly, while the battery in and ac adapter is NOT plugged in there is no shutting down or power off, everyting is perfect. However, While I plugged in(whether the battery is removed or not), in any case, pc suddenly shuts down in 5 minutes. I have formatted my notebook but nothing has changed. I have not updated Bios, I do not know the version but it must be the first version. I tried to use it only with plugging with the adapter and removing the battery but it did not work as well. As I said, while the battery is in and ac adapter is Not plugged in, it works fine but when I plugged in it just shuts down suddenly in 5 or 7 minutes. The problem can be associated with the ac adapter, I do not know..Any ideas? Should I send the notebook to the Lenovo technical service?

Answer:Lenovo Y560 suddenly shuts down while playing games

you may need to clean the fan and/or try to update/reinstall graphic card drivers.also, please, check the bios version that you have:( press windows + r, type "msinfo32" then enter )as i know, the latest one is 71.

I am a writer and I use the keyboard almost exclusively so I need the touchpad almost NEVER.  In the absence of a keystroke chord or a set of strokes, I have to open Settings to get to Touchpad and Disable it.  Having Lenovo Settings out of order for so long is a major bummer because my fat hands continously mark large portions of text and when I hit the wrong [right?] key, ZIP the text goes away. If I'm not paying attention, that portion of my deathless prose is lost.   Hey! It happens.  OK? No, seriously, my warranty is about to expire and I would like to know if this thing is going to be fixed, or is there a set of keystrokes to disable the touchpad - like there should be?  Thanks guys.  I'm at laeva65  at  gmail Jack in Phoenix AZ

Hello I'm having a lot of trouble with the screen of my lenovo flex 3.Seems like every time (or almost every time) i try to pick it up, move it or flip it into tablet mode, the screen fails and i have a black screen with white lines crossing. I have to restart the pc (the hard way), therefore losing everything i was doing before this event.I bought this computer 1 year ago but I'm not a big computer user, i use it probably once a week or less, but it still seems like im using an old computer that can fail at any moment.Just to clarify, this computer never had any kind of "accident", never fell or never had any kind of bump. I dont move it from my home and its never been on a backpack. What can i do, or what can you do for fixing this computer? I hope you can help solve this problem. Thanks.

I have been using my Ideapad as both a laptop and a tablet and the hinge on the left side had started to crack and the screen is now leaning to the left. Is there any way I can fix this? I looked and it says the limited warranty I have doesn't cover this and I seem to not be able to get the Protection Plan either.

Hello,One month ago, i bought a lenovo flex 3 1470 (8GB ram, I5-6200), it came with WIN 10 righ out of the box.Since than, im having some trouble with part of the laptop capabilities. First of all - the WIFI:For some reason, once a while, the wifi connection disappeared and than i cant get no signal from any network around me.After that happens, i look into the device manager and i cant see the WIFI adapter no more.Usually restart the laptop solve the problem, but that not a solution.Second, is the pc performance. For a notebook with 8 gb of ram and a brand new i5 processor (6 generation) it runs so slow!More than 2 minutes startup, having a restart or shut down will take much more than than. It's important to say that there's almost nothing intalled on it.The last problem which i saw twice, it that the laptop just turn on by it self without me pressing anything.I've tried running a diagnostic utility from the lenovo support web, didn't find anything special / not functioning. Please help me, this is my work laptop and so far i'm very disappointed with it.

My ~2 week old Lenovo Flex 5's screen started to flicker a few days ago and the issue has become progressively worse since then to a point where most of the screen is covered by black flickering at times. The computer starts fine, but when the computer is moved and especially when the screen is moved up or down the flickering appears. Sometimes the flickering only starts after the computer has been on for a few hours (restarting the PC fixes the issue for a short while). I have tried updating to the latest Intel graphics drivers in the device manager to no avail. I then tried uninstalling the display drivers from the device manager, that only seemed to work for a short while. Is this a faulty screen that should be RMA'd immediately or is it likely a software-related issue?

I have a year old Lenovo Ideapad Flex 4-1470 laptop.  The computer works perfectly, however the touch screen does not work all the time.  Some of the keys on the keyboard won't work, some areas of the screen do not register my finger everytime, etc.  I took it to the place of purchase (Office Max) and they ran a diagnostic check that came up perfect... the computer is working like it should.  I have a warranty on the computer for 3 years trough SquareTrade.  I don't use the touch screen really at all (only use it because it's there), but I'm annoyed that it doesn't work correctly because it's only a year old.  Any suggestions on a fix?  I can't find a calibration reset for the touch screen or any kind of up system reboot.  Any help will be appreciated.

Hi all, I have owned a Lenovo Flex 4 1470 2-1 for about a year now. At the beginning of this year, I noticed that my keyboard and trackpad had been disabled. I quickly realized that they would be promptly reactivated when I switched into a tablet position. Occasionally, upon restart or resetting the computer, the normal keyboard/trackpad function will return. Every time this happens though it rarely lasts longer than a day. Sometimes, it has returned even when I did nothing to fix it. Sometimes, if I held my laptop at a certain angle, or applied pressure to the base of the laptop, the function would return momentarily. Overall, the tablet/laptop hybrid function has been acting erratic and unnatural. I have already tried restarting my computer, reenabling the trackpad in lenovo's settings application, resetting my PC(both without removing personal files and removing personal files) as well as running countless virus and malware scans. I would return it to costco where I purchased it from, but my laptop is very important to me and Costco typically ships it out to the manufacturer for troubleshooting. Returning to Costco is a last resort that will be time consuming and cumbersome to my work and school.  Please help, I have been using an external keyboard and mouse for much too long.  Again, for reference, I own a Lenovo Flex 4 1470 running Windows 10. Thank You!

Have had a Flex 5 1470 for 2 weeks and today for several hours I ran into this issue where whether it was connected to power or working on battery power I could use the laptop only for around 3-4 minutes before it woud unexpectatly shut off (literally an immediate BLACK screen). I could then power it back on and continue to work for another 3-4 minutes before this would happen again. I downloaded a CPU thermometer and heating was not the issue (was operating well below the operating temperature for the i7).  Any ideas of what was going on? What might have caused this issue and more importantly how to resolve this issue? Your feedback is appreciated!

Hello, I have had my Lenovo Flex 4-1470 laptop for about half a year now, have always taken careful precaution when carrying it, etc. Recently, Upon touching the touchscreen on the right side and bottom of the screen, I am experiencing these "ghost" or "phantom" touches where I touch that part of the screen and it presses on a random part of the screen. The middle and left sides of the screen do not seem to be affected, however, the top of the screen seems to refuse to calibrate to my finger correctly despite calibrating the screen many times. I have updated the touchscreen driver to find that I already have the best and newest version so that cannot be my issue. I have seen that this was a common issue on the Yoga 3-14, and that there was a firmware fix to this... So far the only "fix" I have seen to this issue is disabling the touchscreen altogether, but I bought this laptop specifically for the touchscreen capabilities. I have not physically damaged the laptop, so I am curious on why this is happening.  Is there a firmware fix or something to that extent or will I have to send the laptop to Lenovo and get it repaired? Any Help would be appreciated --Kaitlyn

Answer:Lenovo Flex 4-1470 Auto touch/Ghost touches issue

Hi there, Kaitlyn         -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Ghost touches on the screen are most of the time caused by a faulty digitizer (this is the touch screen panel that enables touchscreen functionality) or the Touch panel module (LED panel w/ Touch).

Can you try the following?

Under theDevice Manager> Human Interface Devices, can you do a right click and disable on anything that says HID-compliant device (this is the driver that controls the touchscreen).

When finished, reboot the system and observe if you still get the same issue.

Update us how it goes.

I purchased flex 3 5 months back but from few days occasionally, the screen goes black (backlight is still on)  while I'm using the computer, as the hard drive stops whirring and the computer itself seems to go to sleep. However, the power button nor the keyboard can seem to wake it up and I end up having to do a hard reset to power it back on. Oddly, the power and battery lights are still on and I can still switch on the keyboard backlight. This happens even when the battery is above 50% full. Please suggest solution for it.

I bought the Flex 4 1470 2-in-1 14"  in July 2016 and today when I turned it on I got a pop-up and something to the effect that I had Lenovo critical updates and did I want to install them. I didn't know what they were but thought they were needed for my Flex, I clicked OK. Then I got another pop-up saying something to the effect that the binaries would change for yoga and some other machines, but it didn't mention my Flex and so I answered NO to the download.Does anyone know what this was all about and whether I needed those critical update/downloads?And if I do need them, how do I now get them? This is all very confusing to us senior citiens and these random pop-ups.Please help me if you can.

I have a new Flex 4 1470 Flex pad; a number of problems with it, but the biggest is that I cannot disable the touchpad when a mouse is plugged into USB port. Note, I have already tried the following: -the F6 key does not disable touchpad, as manual says it should;-checking "disable when mouse connected" in control panel does nothing;-uninstalling ELAN touchpad driver w/o deleting driver does nothing;-uninstalling ELAN touchpad driver AND deleting driver does nothing; I get message to reboot computer, and I do that, but the driver refuses to be deleted; its always there again;-I've updated ELAN driver so that it is most current available, per Lenovo and Elan sites. Other oddities, like the windows screen saver/timeout feature does not work, either.

Hi everyone. I'm new in this community. I've been using my brand new Lenovo Flex 3 1470 for a couple of months and everything was running smoothly, i was ver happy with it.I decieded to extend the antivirus coverage for a year (i had a warning of license expiracy for a couple of weeks) and after that, and all of a sudden, my TouchPad stopped working.I'm using Windows 10.PS: I live in Argentina, so no matter how hard I try, Online Support and Phone Support won't give me any possible solution other that flying back to US (where i got my computer) and have it replaced there. (that won't happen). I really need some help trying to fix this by myself. I re-installed ELAN drivers dozens of time with no success.Help me, please!ThxFranco

I have been trying to register my new Lenovo Ideapad Flex 4-1470 on the Lenovo website for nearly a wekk now.  I am stuck at the part where it asks for you to enter the Product KEY.  Now, I was under the notion that product KEYS were mainly only used for softwares.  I first thought maybe it meant the product number.  I have searched in evry forum, blog, post, search site, Lenovo app, paperwork, you name it, and can not find either of these for this laptop.  I then used the support chat on Lenovo's website and asked a CSR who proceeded to tell me that it is in fact a product "KEY' I need and that it is given to the buyer at time of purchase.  He also told me that when purchasing from the Lenovo website that it is emailed to you.  Unfortuantly, I did not purchase it from there, but at Best Buy instead.  But the CSR in  the Support Chat assured me that this "Product KEY" is required to register the laptop and it is given at time of purchase.  Can anyone help me here - is it printed on the receipt?  Maybe on the one (1) measly little folded paper that came with the laptop in the box (which I have checked about 30 times and there is nothing very useful at all on this scrawny paper) ?  And, is it me, or has Lenovo's product support gone straight down the crapper?  Seriously, no TANGIBLE product information included in the box???  And the Lenovo Apps are a joke, and bad ones at that (crickets chirpping in the back... I used the One Key Optimizer function to try to calibrate the battery of my Flex 3 1470. When I saw the battery discharging I panicked and canceled the operation. I have since read in other forum articles that it is supposed to discharge the battery but also there are problems doing it in some Y500's. This has made me a little nervous to try it again. Does this function work properly for Fles 3 models? What happens once the battery is discharged? Does it automatically start to recharge? Does it recharge back to 100%? How long does it take to go through the whole cycle? I hope someone can help me with these questions. Thanks.

I too have this question about my Flex 2-15, is it safe to use?

Laptop: Lenovo Flex 3 1470
OS: Windows 10 pro x64
Card: AC-3160
Driver: 18.40.0

I have this strangest issue with my Lenovo Flex 3 1470. My built in bluetooth receiver only turns on when i restart windows. If I shut off windows completly and then turn it back on again, bluetooth doesnt work. The icon is dissapeared from the action center and from the device manager. In this state (with laptop on and bluetooth not working), if I restart windows (through start>on/off>restart) the bluetooth device suddenly becomes available upon rebooting. And it works completly stable with all connected devices. I don't want to restart my laptop every time I want to use a bluetooth device.

I have tried several things, a clean windows 10 installation, some energy on and off switches in device manager and many different kind of drivers. I even tried replacing the card with a ac7265, but when i did this WiFi worked and bluetooth entirely didnt work nor did it show up in device manager. I waisted money in a effort to fix this strange bluetooth problem,  i guess.

Ideas anyone?

Hello community, Built-it microphone of my Lenovo Flex 4 touchscreen tablet/laptop is not working. It is completely new laptop.  I tried everything - Realtek drivers re-install, checked of all recording devices, etc. None of the programs that should use the microphone are able to work with it.Skype, ooVoo, etc..they all see Microphone Array, but people on the other side can't hear anything. External microphone works just fine. I tried to enable/disable this Microphone array as well - no help. Used F4 button to block/unblock - no help either. What esle I can do? Thanks,Hov

Answer:Built-in microphone in Flex 4-1470 is not working

Hi there, Hhov -
Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Please try the below steps:

control panel, sound, recording, right click and check 'show disabled devices' then click device and properties and 'enable', apply, ok and exit)

Also,
Check the Mixer/Audio settings whether Mic is turned on.
Depending on the used software it might happen, that it disables the microphone while ending the program (Skype, ICQ etc.)

Update us how it goes.

I have a HD Flex 4 1470 80 SA notebook, Intel pentium with a low resolution screen.  It has an intel 510 graphics card.  I noticed there is another version of the 1470 80 SA also with Intel Pentium that has a full HD  IPS LCD screen. It has an intel 520 graphics card.  My question is....can you replace the screen with the higher resolution model to upgrade to the higher resolution?  I believe that I can, but will I need to replace the  510 graphics driver with the 520 driver, and will the existing LCD cable work also or will I have to replace that?  The manuals show both the units using the same cable part number.  Is it possible to do this as I would really like to upgrade to the full HD IPS resolution screen.  I have located a very affordable and compatible high resolution screen made for the flex 4 not sure about if it will work based upon the questions above.  Thanks.

Answer:lenovo g50-70 suddenly shuts off

hi saktani

Welcome to the Forums.

Chances are, if the shutting down problem happens on any game that you run or any graphics intensive task that you launch like watching youtube videos and/or it also happens while plugged-in / running on battery then there's likely a problem with a hardware component of the machine (e.g., the GPU).

Things that you can try:
1. Run a full diagnostic test on the machine using the Lenovo Solutions Center (see Checkup > Hardware Scan) or by using the Individual Windows Diagnostics then observe the results on the RAM, HDD, CPU, and GPU tests.

2. Download and install GPU-Z and observe the GPU temps (applicable only if you have the AMD Radeon R5 M230 Graphics)

If the machine shuts down while running the test then I recommend you consider contacting the lenovo helpdesk to report the problem.

hello all, I just bought a new flex 4 - 1470 (80SA0004US) & installed Fifa 15 on it. For some reason whenever I start playing a game all the players seem to come out black. This was a problem before but several people seem to have fixed the issue by updating their graphics driver. I have done so as well but it hasn't made any difference whatsoever. Can somebody who has fixed this or somebody from lenovo support help me out with this? Any help would be much appreciated.

Recently bought this laptop and having issues waking this system up from Sleep. I updated the BIOS to the latest version and the system shows that all the drivers as up to date. System was bought from Microsoft Store ( if that's an important data point as MS does not install all the bloatware that typically comes with it). Here are my observations; scenarios are all in laptop mode, I haven't ventured much in to tablet mode. If I leave the laptop plugged in with no activity, Screen powers off after the specified time. When I try to wake the system, it does not respond. Power light stays solid and is not blinking as I would expect it to be. Only option to bring up the system is a reboot. I have the Balanced Power Mode active. If I put the system to Sleep from the Start Menu ( Power - Sleep), System goes to sleep, Power light blinks indicating sleep mode and I am able to wake the system up with key press.  I am reasonably tech savvy, but has not been able to find a solution . Love the laptop at the pricepoint in every other aspect and would really like to keep this, if I can solve this issue. Any guidance from gurus out here is appreciated !

I called tech support and they flat out told me that the Flex screen is only compatible for fingers. Styluses are not supposed to be used. After a conversation of me explaining what a stylus is, tech support said that the digitizer is not there for a stylus and that bluetooth should not be used for a stylus. Can someone tell me what kind of stylus has full capability on the Flex 3-1470 where I can use palm rejection and pressure recognition. If you know, from experience, or knowledge of the engineering of the touchscreen, what category of stylus can be used, I would appreciate suggestions.

When i run cinebench multithread, my flex 5 with the i5 8th gen would throttle to 100% and like about 2.3ghz for a few sec.  then it actually throttle down and maintain only 88% and 1.6ghz, which is below the base speed that is indicated in win10 task manager.  I don't know if that's expected for the flex 5 1470 specifically. On my 720-14ikb, with the same i5 8th gen cpu, it would maintain 100% and stay at the base speed of 1.8ghz all the way through.

Answer:Need help confirming if something is wrong with my flex 5- 1470 cpu throttle or if it's by design

Here's what it looks like when i run throttlestop... So is this just a case of aggresive backthrottle by lenovo?  Much appreciated if someone else with flex 5 1470 can see if they experience the same thing

I just bought a Flex 4-1470 about two weeks ago and used the camera once and it worked well. I tried to use it again today and it was not detected by my system. I looked for it in the device manager under "Imaging Devices" but that section didn't exist. I eventually found it by enabling hidden devices and the icon was greyed out and the device Lenovo EasyCam was reported as disconnected, Code 45. I updated the drivers, reinstalled EasyCam, and tried every solution that I could think of or find to no avail. I eventually uninstalled the device thinking that perhaps the device was improperly installed and it disappeared entirely. Now it doesn't appear in the Device Manager at all, even under hidden devices. The option for camera settings doesn't even appear in Lenovo Settings. The best I can figure is that it is internally disconnected which would be absurd since I've only had this laptop for 2 weeks. Are there any solutions that I could have possibly overlooked, short of disassembling the laptop and reconnecting some possibly disconnected cables?

I recently purchased a Flex 4 14 inch 1470 (80SA series) laptop. It comes with the Pentium 4405U processor and Intel HD Graphics 510 video adapter. The screen is a 366x768 TN panel (quite unfortunately, though I did know this in advance).  Looking at the Lenovo Flex 4 lineup, it seems that there are several similar models with the same processor and graphics adapter, but with a 1920x1080 IPS screen. Would it be possible to swap out the stock TN panel with one of the 1920x1080 IPS screens?  If links are allowed, I am looking at the following screens that are available for this series: https://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/Lenovo/FLEX%204%2080SA%20SERIES/ Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi All, I seem to be suffering the same problems as many others. I was using a second screen via a displaylink adaptor on my Flex 15 laptop up until installing Windows10.
My laptop has an intel 4400 GPU, which appears to be unsupported by Windows 10, and is stopping the displaylink adaptor from working. It refuses to accept the latest official Intel drivers, saying they are not supported by Windows 10, and for older drivers it refuses to use them, saying that WIndows has detected an error with the device and stopped it (code 43)
That was the major issue up until today, when my usb DVD drive (a Lenovo Slim USB DVD-RW) stopped working also - it has been working for the last few weeks without any problems. - Again Windows won't accept the correct drivers for the device.

Wondering if the I made a major mistake in upgrading now, especially as my opportunity to revert back to Windows 8.1 disappeared at the weekend.

Has anyone got any glimmers of hope about how/when the correct drivers will be released, and how to get the OS to accept them? Really regretting 'upgrading' to Windows10 at present...

Cheers

Rob

Answer:Lenovo Flex 15 - graphics & now DVD problems

What Intel drivers are you using? Intel claims to support the 4400 graphics:

Intel Download Center

What drivers are you trying for the DVD drive? I haven't seen an optical drive in many years that used anything other than the generic Microsoft drivers.

I have a Lenovo 3000 (TYPE 0769-BEG  S/N ********* ) which worked fine until just recently.

Since around 4 weeks the notebook started acting up on me, in a way that it might just suddenly shuts off on me. No warning given.

First I though it might have something to do with the heat, but I realized that sometimes the notebook runs for DAYS nonstop without shutting off once. Other times the notebook has been off for days, I start it and after 1hrs work or so: BOOM. Just shuts off.

Anyone aware of a hardware issue on this model?

This just started literally an hour ago. I was working on a project and suddenly my laptop went off. The battery was still full. I tried turning it on the first time and the lenovo sign came up, then the laptop went off again.I tried turning it on a second time and only the power and battery lights came on, then went off. That's how it's been behaving ever since.Ten minutes later, I tried again. The laptop came on. Stayed on for about 5 minutes and went off. Tried turning it on and only the power and battery white lights popped on and off. Please, please, what is going on? There are so many important documents in my laptop. Even worse, I need to get back to work. This can't be happening. My laptop is just 6 months old and we'll taken cared of.

Answer:Lenovo G410 shuts down suddenly without warning

Sounds like it is overheating. Would suggest checking to see if the fan is moving air thru the system, and the air is not overly warm. If the fan is not working, or is blocked with dust / debris it will cause this kind of issue. If you need to retrieve your data off the hard drive, it can be removed safely and installed into a portable enclosure or dock then attached via USB to a different computer to retrieve your documents and user data.Good luck.

Hi, I've just noticed that after upgrading from out-of-the-box Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, several of the 1st row hotkeys stopped working, including Volume up/down, Brightness up/down (this is by far  the most annoying one!!) and airplane mode. Don't know about what's on the F8,F9,F10 keys.Sometimes when I press Vol +/- or Bright +/- it will go one step up or down but will no more (if I keep pressing it does nothing), but have not figured out yet when it will work or not. Have anyone experienced this? Hello. My Flex 3-1470 is having display problems. At first, I thought that the screen was simply not working, but this morning I realized that it actually is, but is very dim. I would think this means the backlight isn't working, but it appears that there actually is some backlight, as the brightness rapidly changes (once or twice every second) but always remains very dim. Brightness ranges between "completely off, I think" and "can just about read the text in the BIOS", with lots of stages in between. It jumps between these stages of different brightness at random. I have discovered that pressing F9 (the screen disable key) will cause the screen to briefly light up correctly (for maybe 100 milliseconds or so) before going back to the dim, constantly changing brightness. Brightness keys do nothing. Is this a problem with the backlight inverter? Is the inverter a separate board on this model, or is it built into the motherboard? Or is the display itself broken? The model ID is 80jk00fecf. Thanks!

Answer:Flex 3-1470 - Screen rapidly changing brigtness but always dark, briefly works when F9 is pressed

Hello DodoDude700Thanks for using the Lenovo forums.Sounds like there will be an issue with your display or the connections inside if it keeps flickering between.

Any chance you are able to make a recording of this at all or some pictures?

Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)1. Turn the unit off2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter5. Turn the unit on as normal
Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.==================================================================================Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Sorry to hear of your problems.  I would suggest that you try a reset of the BIOS just to rule out any hardware conflicts the system may have.  Try this........
1. Unplug the charger / adapter. 2. Remove the battery. 3. Press and hold the Power Button for 15 seconds. 4. Re-install the battery, plug in the charger / adapter if needed and power up the system to see if the problem was resolved.

If the problems weren't resolved by doing the reset then I suggest you contact Lenovo Support for warranty service.  Both the problems you mentioned could be related to faulty hardware and the service center would be best equipped to check out your new laptop.  You can find the phone number for Lenovo Support in your country or area by using the link below....http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/supportphonelist_alt1

I accidentally deleted my nvidia graphics drivers, and the latest version doesnt work. Knowing the drivers which came with the computer will let me re install them. Thanks.

Answer:Lenovo flex 3 1580 Nvidia graphics drivers fabric version

You might check to see if the earlier drivers are still present on your system by doing the following Right-click on StartSelect Device ManagerLeft-click on Display Adapters to expand.Right-click on your display adapter, and select Update DriverSelect "Browse my computer for driver software"Select "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer"This should provide a list of drivers previously installed on your systemTo switch to one of them, choose an older driver and click Next.It would be hard to know exactly what driver was installed when your system was new, because Lenovo does not provide release notes for its drivers as its certifies them, but older drivers for the Nvidia 940M card should be available from Nvidia, as well as newer driver versions that those release by Lenovo that may resolve your problem. which can be found here https://www.geforce.com/drivers Good Luck,

Hey guys. I've had this laptop for about 2 years now, and at first it ran pretty much any game on high settings. Then one day my framerate dropped off out of the blue. Games I used to play on High (Star Wars The Old Republic, and Minecraft) I'd get a solid 50-60fps. Now I'm lucky if I get 10fps. Even League Of Legends, which isnt so graphic intensive, only runs at about 25fps. What's the deall? I've tried updated drivers, direct x, and whatever else needed to keep my system current. I've tried both methods of switchable graphics. No change. What's even weirder is that sometimes while trying to play swtor my card seems to "wake up" and runs smooth as silk. Perfect framerate, looks great....then back down to horrible. Any suggestions of what I might be able to try or what the issue could be? As far as I can remember this happend overnight without any warning signs.

Hi all. I am having issues with my NVIDIA GeForce GTX750. I discovered today that when I try to play a game, it's suddenly extremely slow and jerky. This issue has come a bit out of nowhere, as it was working fine when I last played a game (the same game) a couple of weeks ago.

The only unusual thing I've done recently with this desktop computer has been to move it interstate. That was about two weeks ago, and I haven't noticed any issues with any facet of the computer until today when I went to play at game on Steam for the first time since I moved.

Specs

Inter(R) Core(TM i7-4790) CPU @ 3.60GHz
16 GM RAM
64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Windows 10 Home

Additional Notes

- I attempted to access the NVIDIA control panel but it won't let me, saying: "You are not currently using a display attached to a NVIDIA GPU"
- The GTX750 is still recognised by my device manager though
- My computer's not in power saver mode, which was my first thought
- My latest GeForce driver is up to date; is there any other drivers I should be chasing down?

I'm pretty hopeless tech wise so please bear with me and let me know if I haven't provided the correct/enough info. Thanks!

Thanks!

Answer:Games jerky and sluggish - graphics card suddenly not recognised?

As you say that you moved the computer a long distance, I imagine that the monitor was disconnected.

The I7-4790 CPU has built-in graphics, so I suppose that your unnamed motherboard has graphics ports on the rear I/O panel.

I'd guess that the monitor was connected to one of those rather than to the nVidia card. That would seriously bugger the graphics performance.

If I'm mistaken, I apologize in advance.

I am a graduate student who uses PyMOL and FoldIt for work. I am able to run those applications, but the "graphical viewer" (where I would see the macromolecule) will appear transparent and show only content from the underlying background application. This is not unique to such programs, but also to low-graphical resource games such as UltraStar Deluxe. I believe it is a software/driver problem because the same computer is able to correctly render PyMOL sessions when running Kubuntu Linux. My computer is a Lenovo Thinkpad x61t. The graphics card is a Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family, which I understand is integrated with the motherboard. I'm running DirectX 11. I am running the most recent driver from Lenovo, a proprietary version of the Intel driver; I am unable to install the generic Intel driver as an .exe, but I can choose the "Have Disk" option to supply the path to the .inf file. Unfortunately, that does not resolve the problem. I initially suspected (from reading other complaints) that the problem might have something to do with the Lenovo driver not supporting OpenGL, but I don't know much about that and am unable to change the driver in any case. This issue has persisted on multiple reformats and reinstallations of Windows 7 on this laptop. If anyone can lead me to a solution, this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Answer:Basic graphics not rendering on Lenovo Thinkpad x61t

Never mind, problem solved. I removed my drivers, then had Windows automatically update. For some reason, it worked this time, even though I had been struggling for months to figure this out.

Strangely enough, removing the drivers and having Windows automatically update them solved it. It only took a few hours after I made this post, but trust me, I spent months on Google trying to figure this out!

Well, I need to make a utility in visual basic, so i will make a benchmark. I figure, i can make it calculate pi, and save the results as a text file, and once the text file reaches a certain size, it stops, and spits out the time.
And/Or, i could make it make, then read, then delete a text file, which would be a good hdd bench.

Any ideas as to how I can go about this?

Answer:Visual basic; benchmark program

i'm not sure about how good a benchmark creating/opening/reading/closing/deleting a file is of a hdd. The most important thing for a HDD to do well is memory management. What you are looking at, is more OS stuff, mixed with short spasmodic bursts across the file storage. Memory tends to require continous lumps of data (due to prinicple of locality), and esp. on things like databases - where very large data is required in large lumps. If you could get your hdd benchmark program to open up like a database (eg Access, or MySQL) and moniter hdd activity as the database completes a pre-defined list of queries, then would get an important benchmark for a hdd. If you wanted to keep it simple, a crude method of hdd activity, would be to have your file creating/opening...etc program to run, and see how long that takes. If you also run the program before or after running and closing the database, you would get a crude idea of activity of the hard drive... i.e. - (this is rough - but still workable) since the hard drive will be getting X amount of work done , in Y amount of time (where Y is variable on the ability of the hard drive), then by diving X by Y, we get the speed of the hdd (this is an average speed, mind - over a short period of time... so can only give you a snap shot of the hdd's perfomance). We could work this out (appromixately) by subtracting the time of the file program+db by the time of the file program on its own.

If we wanted a graph of the speed o... Read more

I bought the below laptop only 2 months ago: http://www.very.co.uk/lenovo-z51-intelreg-coretrade-i5-processor-8gb-ram-1tb-hdd-storage-156-inch-fu... Its a Z51-70 i5 8gb Ram and AMD Radeon R7 M360 / Intel HD Graphics 5500 Every game I put on it will download and either not load or crash shortly after. None of these games are paticulary heavy and should run, eg minecraft, elite dangerous, arma 2, league of legends, SWTOR  All of these games I have previousley played on my I3 with just the Intel 3000 on low and sometimes medium but they ran. It came with windows 10, and I believe I have the latest AMD drives and control centre. I'm considering putting it back to windows 8 maybe or uninstalling the drivers?

Answer:Lenovo Z-51 with Radeon Graphics, won't run any games.

Get these and tryhttp://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop?os=Windows+10+-+64 Make your the system is NOT running in Power Saving Mode.
