I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, I bought lenovo Ideapad U310 a couple of months ago and i m having a little problem these days. The windows crashes and blue screen comes like 5 times a day., sometimes more. Some friends recommend me to format it but i didn't want to spoil the original windows home premium operating system as it is expensive to buy one. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

Hi,
I bought this laptop 3 weeks ago. it's an intel i5 M520 with 4GB ram, 500gb hdd, ati radeon graphics, windows 7 64bit.

It crashed 3 times so far, and everytime after an hour of using the laptop only in battery while using the integrated video card. I didnt try with ATI card to run on battery. But I always use ATI when I am using an external monitor while it is plugged and it never crashed then. It did not crash when i was switching the graphics card.

I had to push down the power button to shut down as nothing was responding.
Havent installed anything complicated other than phpeditor and ftp filezilla, mozilla, chrome.

NOte that i reinstalled Windows to factory settings again using OneKey Recovery.
And to my disappointment it happened again and Today instead of being frozen it went to blue screen and restarted auto. Here is what the windows problem solver showed. What should I do? Take it to a service center, i have warranty. Thanks a lot in advance for your help. I also attached the .dmp and .xml file in .zip format.

Hi and welcome Abu
This is pretty straight foward, your BSOD was caused by your intel wifi driver, please download and install fresh copy of it

Quote:
Driver Removal and Reinstallation:
Please do the following:
- download a fresh copy of the latest Windows 7 version of the program for this driver from the Intel website (NOT from Windows Update or from the Update driver function in Device Manager). If there are no Windows 7 drivers, post back for further instructions on installing Vista drivers using Compatibility mode.
- uninstall the current version from your system
- install the freshly downloaded version
- check to see if you have any further BSOD's

Hi Lenovo Support Team, I have LENOVO IDEAPAD Y 460,  MODEL NAME 0633 which I purchased from you on Sun, Dec 19, 2010. It has been nothing but a disappointment. It did not perform in the same way as it should since from the day one. Issues / ProblemsBlue Screen:  Every time the system is started / rebooted it gives blue screen, I have to restart the system for 4-5 times and then it works.2. ATI Driver Issue: The ATI driver display behaves erratically which requires rebooting the system every now and then, this leads to sheer frustration. My other friends are using the same product and they never face this issue. 3. System Heats Up: The system gets smoking hot even if it runs for an hour; it becomes almost impossible to work on it. I have never seen such a problem in my life time. Case ID / ComplaintsCase # WN 321 067: This case was registered with Lenovo support team on Wed, Mar 9, 2011, wherein you guys asked me to ship the machine to you support center based in Grapevine, TX and the above problems will be fixed, the machine was shipped to your facilities on 19th March 2011. I got a confirmation email on Wed, Mar 23, 2011 that my system has been successfully repaired and is on its way back to me. However when I received my machine the problem still persisted (heating, blue screen), the only problem which was fixed was ATI Driver / Display rest nothing was fixed. After struggling with it for another month, I raised another ticket.Case # WN 332 534... Hi. I have a problem with my newly bought Lenovo Ideapad 320. I recently bought the laptop around 1 week ago. It is a great laptop with good specifications. Though I have noticed some rather dissapointing dents and other problems on the body of the laptop. Below are the pictures of the dents and some other problems too.   As you can see in the picture, the touchpad is dented in a circular form.   Some of the keyboard keys seem to be at faulty because. The height of the keyboard keys are not even. It looks like someone has violated the keys playing games or what not.   The metal near the touchpad seems to be bending upward. These are the dents I mentioned above. I have tried reaching out to Lenovo Support by filling up the form online. Though it has come to a dead end since I have not received any reply. I hope the Lenovo moderator itself can help me through this problem. I paid a lot of money for this laptop and I was hoping for none other than a perfect condition for the laptop itself. It was rather dissapointing to face this problem. Here's hoping that this will be covered by my warranty. I'm hoping help from other users from Lenovo community too. Thanks.

I bought the Ideapad 700 15ISK (Sr. No: R90JUYXF) on 25th of JUN 2016 (4299 AED) from Dubai UAE instead of DELL, HP and other brands, that was latest machine with high specification. After 2 week usage I faced that igdkmd64.sys error, so I installed graphic driver according to the Lenovo forum solved solution but nothing happened. Then, I 1st time claimed warranty. Still error happened even bios, drivers, window everything newly installed. Then 2nd time I claimed warranty, nothing will changed error still on his place, installed, reinstalled graphic driver my own self and even from service centre.I am having a strong desire to kiss the intoxicated Lenovo enginners who design this ideapad.Lenovo IDEAPAD 700 15ISK cheapest product with genie company defective model which didn't support the Intel graphic driver, how irresponsible Lenovo Company?s engineers are? Even you can?t run laptop for normal usage, window crash again and again like virus. One important thing, if you reinstalled old graphic driver, then 7 salute to Microsoft Window 10 blunder, we can?t stop window 10 to update the graphic driver, window automaticity update the driver and error happened like a virus. Wastage of time and money, I never again buy this Lenovo cheap quality product or never recommend to any of my friend to buy the Lenovo products. Lenovo comapny waste my entire year to claiming warrantyof this defective model cheap Idea pad with high cost.

Hello to all,I bought last year my fourth Thinkpad W520 (4276-3LU) from B&H NY (I7-2860QM, 1920x1080 HD, 2x4 8Gb 1333MHz, 500gb 7200rpm). I upgraded with 2 DIMMs (2x4Gb Kingston 1333Mhz) to 16 gb and with a Crucial SSD M4 256gb.Despite one dead pixel on the new pristine screen, the upgraded machine worked excellent for more than half year until i received BLUE SCREEN. Putting the original configuration and recovering software to the factory state i received BLUE SCREEN again!By filling each 4gb memory on DIMM 0 socket under the keyboard and checking with Thinkvantage diagnostics tool i discovered a dead memory DIMM (Hynix 4GB-1333MHz, 2Rx8 PC3-10600S-9-11-F3, HMT351S6CFR8C-H9 N0 AA, Korea). Cleaning pins, still dead under testing with Memtest x86 soft on another laptop.Using 12gb (3x4gb DIMMs) now the machine works great.Occasionally by playing in turbo mode NFS-The Run, i wonder if the soldering paste on the cheap quality Hynix memory was melted...or the heat sink processor could not taken the heat generated in DIMM (lenovo design error). Note that copper radiator on the left side has changed over time and became from copper color to black one due to heat generated. Now i realized i bought a processor, a HD screen, a lenovo motherboard and a still lovely keyboard - nothing else! Regards,Axu21

I had BSOD randomly when I upgraded to crucial memory.  Changed for new crucial memory, same thing.   Doing a ram check did not find an error.  Then I switched to Samsung memory, and have not had a BSOD for more than 6 months.  Crucial were very good in replacing and refunding the non working memory, but it seems to be a more general issue with the Thinkpad.

All my problems started after attempting to upgrade to Windows 8.1.  My Ideapad crashed during installation and upon restarting, the Lenovo startup screen was displayed with a white circle that stated "updating" and gave a percentage number.  This number never got to 100 percent as the computer always crashed.  Somehow I was able to get Windows to start back up at Windows 8, but when I did I would get a black screen with a blue square stating Boot Device Not Found.  This would happen every 1-3 times I started the Ideapad.  Now since 2 months have passed, it happens Sometimes the Ideapad will boot, but more likely than not after going through the enter password screen in Windows  to 8, the screen display will be shrunk by 15%.  Is it booting in safe mode?  When it does this and actually boots, I have had enough time to backup all my files on an external hard drive in case I need to do a refresh or reset everything back to factory mode. At this point should I reset everything back to factory mode and test if the problem is the same? When I got the Ideapad, all I wanted was for a Laptop that would turn on reliably so that I can browse the internet and write my work in Microsoft Word.  What I got is a piece of junk that can no longer start right.  I purchased the Yoga Ideapad 13 months ago and my warranty expired.  How much does a new warranty cost?  I am thinking of getting a better laptop because I don't... Good afternoon all.  I'm hoping someone here can help me with this.  I bought this Lenovo ideapad 320-15ABR at Thanksgiving and received it at the beginning of December.  I bought it mainly so that I could use Photoshop, Microsoft Office and to watch TV/movies online.  The only things I've installed on this computer since receiving it was the Photoshop 2018 and Avast Antivirus.  I disabled the Windows Defender antivirus and I couldn't find McCaffee anywhere on my computer.  Anyway, I've used this computer to watch movies a few times now for the last several weekends and at least once during a movie (either through Netflix or Amazon Prime) I will get an error message that reads something along the lines of:  "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart."  Basically the blue screen of death.  It's incredibly frustrating because I've been happy with Lenovo products in the past.  I'm also not a huge fan of Windows 10 and while I don't blame Lenovo for the changes Microsoft keeps making, these new changes coupled with the constant blue screens of death on a brand spanking new computer have made me a very unhappy customer.  Because of the changes with Windows, I'm not familiar at all with how to troubleshoot this problem (or even where to start) to see if there is something wrong with my laptop hardware or if it's a driver error.  If I can I'd like to try to understand how to find out what... Hello all, I noticed that after performing a clean uninstall/reinstall of the NVIDIA SUITE that doing a hardware scan in the Lenovo Solution Center, (just clicking on either Run Quick Tests, or Select Tests) it will cause a blue screen within a minute. I had this problem before so I am diagnosing it now. I first tested the hardware scan after doing a clean refresh of my laptop. I created a restore point before updating the Intel driver, and tested the hardware scan after it. It worked properly then I installed Steam, and CCleaner. I tested the hardware scan after that and it still worked correctly but forgot to create a recovery point. I now did the installation of NVIDIA Suite (Driver, Geoforce, PhysicsX). And I remembered that I should do a hardware scan to make sure everything was ookie-dookie. But thats where it became bluescreen. SO I'm sure that the graphics card is a problem now again.

I recieve a blue screen (saying physical memory dump).
I think that it's a hardware problem, cause i change my memory (i thought that it's maybe bad memory) but same problem.
All the dump messages are different but in all of them there is "NT Kernel System".
With xp i don't have any problem, so i am thinking that it's a motherboard problem. My motherboard is abit Ip35 pro and i can't find any driver for windows 7 32bit for this motherboard.
But is really a hardware problem? I attach the 2 last dump files.

We do need the actual DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

It is almost impossible to spot trends from a single DMP file so if you have more than one please upload them. If you only have one please wait until the computer crashes again then upload both.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small m... Read more

Kind of a long story.

I turn my computer off to go to a lan, it works fine at the lan, but then when I come home the next day it doesn't turn on. My dad looks inside, unplugs and plugs back in a few things, and it works. So a few days later I go to sleep at a friends house, turn it off before I left, and the next day (today) it doesn't turn on. So my dad again tries to unplug and plug back in a few things, but the same thing doesn't work. He then takes my graphics card out and it works, puts it back in, and it doesn't work.

But then he did something, and it turns on with the graphics card now. But I get the blue screen saying this,

"UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME

Stop: 0X000000ED (0x8A273900 (This first one changes whenever I turn it on) 0xC0000006, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)"

I've also tried it with another graphics card I have (7300 LE I think) and I get the same message, about unmountable boot volume, so Im thinking maybe it's the ram? I have a 1GB stick and a 512mb stick.

It also won't boot into safe mode. (Im on my family pc)

Answer:Blue Screen problem. (I think it's hardware)

ok well that code means that your hdd is dieing/corrupt windows install. the first thing you could do is try to reinstall windows.

I have a blue screen problem. Before you say anything, I have searched the forum for similar issues. Although I have found a lot of topic on blue screen problems, none is similar to mine.

I dont know how this could be. Everything was fine, and all of a sudden, I start up my computer one day...it goes to desktop for like 1 min and then blue screen. I didnt install any new programs or hardware. I can run safemode with networking fine... which is how I can write on this forum. Here is what is says on safemode

I get a blue screen after several hours when I plug in mic or speaker.

Answer:Hardware problem Blue screen.

I noticed that you don't have Secure Boot and/or UEFI enabled. If you were having problems with it and changed it, please let us know.

It's not necessary to enable it now. But, should you reinstall Windows at some point in the future, please enable it first.

I mention this because it may happen that (one day) the system won't boot. This can be caused by a program changing your UEFI settings, or an update of the UEFI resetting it to default values.

To test and see if this is the cause, boot into the UEFI and see if the settings have been changed. If uncertain, try with Secure Boot both on and off (and the UEFI on UEFI or Legacy (CSM))

If it still doesn't boot after trying this, then move on to other troubleshooting tools as it's not likely to be due to this.

temp, welcome to the forum,

this is a peer to peer forum, maybe you could explain exactly what problem you have been experiencing in order that members may offer their advice? Blue Screens can be provoked by numerous different causes including hardware, which your warranty covers, and software which your warranty doesn't necessarily cover. You need to provide more details.

Unfortunately your post looks like a rant and members will not be able to help´without more information.

Hi,

I've been having a lot of problems with my computer of late. It must be around 5 years old now, but at the start of this year I replaced the motherboard, RAM and CPU to the following:

MSI MS-6712
2 modules of PC2700 256MB RAM
AMD Athlon XP 2400+

I also upgraded to Windows XP. Unfortunately I would get a lot of BSOD error messages containing messages like IRQL_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED AREA etc... Sometimes the computer would crash while booting up, sometimes when I clicked on something, sometimes on its own.

I figured it was just XP causing problems so I recently did a complete reinstall. Unfortunately, the problems are still occuring. Today, my computer would not start properly and so I ended up resetting it a few times until it did. I was getting:

-BSODs quoting 'Fatal System Error'
-The computer would freeze on the "Windows Starting Up..." screen
-Windows would boot to the log in screen despite the fact that it never usually does
-An error was quoted with something to do about 'ordinal 4' in winsock

I have also been experiencing the same old IRQL_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED AREA blue screen errors, and yesterday while trying to defragment my drive I received a BSOD quoting a stop error with ntfs.sys

Now, as this has happened with 2 different installations of windows i can only conclude that it is a hardware problem. So does anyone have any idea what it could be?

This is really annoying me now,... Read more

OS: Windows 7

Any help is welcome, I just want it to stop!

So basically I get the blue screen. It happened in the summer after I installed Windows 7. It usually happened like once a month, didn't pay too much attention, but now it happened 4 times in a day!

So it starts dumping memory, after the dumping when the laptop restarts I get this error message:

Wow what a long post? lol.

Try running memtest (burn it to disk and allow it to run at bootup; may need to change your BIOS settings to boot from CD/DVD rom). The error you are getting (BC Code 7f) could spell faulty or failing RAM....so give this test a try and see if you get any errors after running a few passes.

Hello, I am recently encountering Black Screen issues when my IdeaPad Z400 Laptop is shut down/sleeped for more than an hour. When I open I see only Black screen, Lenovo Logo doesn't show, no Back lights, Power LED is on, USB working , DVD is responding, Hard disk seems to be spinning. I can only power it on after N attempts of pressing the power button on/off. There are also times that the Lenovo Logo is showing but after 2 secs the power goes off. No beeping sound. I did a chkdsk and memtest and everything seems fine.

I'm not sure if we're allowed to cross-post, but I think my problem posted in the Operating Systems > Windows 95/98/Me forum may actually be a hardware problem. If you respond, please reply to the post at -

You should also be able to see the followup replies from others there. Thank you.

My post at Operating Systems > Windows 95/98/Me is as follows:

Hi. I wish I could figure this out. I have Win98SE and it seems that I get an exception error blue screen every hour or so, automatically shutting down programs. This would shut down Outlook, IE, and others, and drastically decrease the PC performance. This exception error also comes up frequently during cold boots.

I have up-to-date definitions for my Norton Antivirus, Adware/spyware scanners (the free version of Ad-Aware is run weekly and the freebie Disspy is done daily), MS Windows "patches" (but see below), and Zonealarm firewall.

I've frequently performed ScanDisk and Diskeeper Lite defragmentation of my hard drive. Still, this exception error blue screen appears.

I had Windows Update patch KB891711 in my startup, but I removed it (unchecked it) through MSCONFIG and the blue screen fatal exception errors still come up.

I also ran "System File Checker" in the system tools to scan for altered files, and all I get is:
System File Checker has finished scanning your system files.
which I assume means there were no errors.

It has been almost 6 months since I bought this laptop, and it gave awesome experience, such a beautiful, powerful laptop both for work and gaming. I enjoyed alot until recently, two days ago I was just using my laptop and suddenly screen started to show these horrible green, grey, black and purple lines, multicolored and the screen stuck. I had never encountered a problem like this. First i tried to shut it down, by main power button. When I started the laptop again, lines showed up again and screen stuck. I was greatly shocked because I just bought it recently and didn't expected such problems.I figured it out that if I exert a little pressure on the screen it would work, the lines will disappear and the it will become normal but then the moment i took my finger off, it returned to it state. After doing a little diagnosis i found that if i put my screen in a certain angle it would become normal. I can use it but only after pushing the screen to a certain angle and it is not comfortable at all.  Sorry for awful lengthy post but i will be grateful for any help. Thanks. Here is a pic.

Hi all, I've had this laptop two mobnths. On opening it one morning, two pins fell out of the hinge connecting the monitor to the keyboard. A further two fell out from the other side shorty afterwards. The monitor is now separating from the keyboard, almost totally on the left hand side. The pressure of whatever is going on is causing the screen casing to separate from the screen also. The screen can no longer stay upright, nor can it be closed. The hinge is completely broken.  I've made several attempts to contact lonovo to ask for help. the first by telephone. I was told I needed to register with the support department (as well as being registered as a lenovo customer) in order to receive support. The technician said she would send me an email of questions that I would need to answer in order to register before she could help me - that email never arrived. I have submitted multiple requests through the support sections of the website but no confimation that they have gone through - the screen just refreshes as if nothing has happened, and when I check the system has no record of my problem. In addition when I try to use the lenovo website to find approved technicians/ repair shops near me, the uk doesnt show as an option in the drop down menu, and When i try to use the location services they don't work. (nothing happens). This is my work laptop - I can't work without it, so I need a fix or replacment urgently. I am currently really very frustrated and unimpres... Read more

grumibien, Have you checked to make sure you have the latest Adobe Flash Player installed, and that you have all the Visual C++ installed. Also you might check to be sure you have all DirectX files. If you have some that are missing that could cause you to have the problems you are having. I had that problem and was able to clear things up by doing those things. Also make sure you have the latest Video Drivers. Good luck

Answer:Lenovo G570 Blue Screen Problem

hi Sylwia,

Welcome to the Forums.

Just to verify, are you running Windows 7 64bit?

Also, when you made the upgrade to Internet Explorer, did you installed Internet Explorer 11?
 - if this is the case, try disabling all addons on the Internet Explorer 9 and try to install Internet Explorer 11 using this link. If you have a screenshot of the error / bluescreen crash, this will also help.

As for Chrome, try to temporarily disable all extensions and check any running security / firewall software that might be blocking access to Chrome.

Regards

Hello, My laptop configuration:OS: Windows 10 64 bits (up-to-date)Model : Lenovo Ideapad Y700 15ISK (80NV)BIOS : CDCN37WW Five days ago the keyboard suddenly stopped to respond (nb : the Num Lock led remained on). I tried to restart Windows but since it could not (stucked on the reboot screen) I pressed the power button and heard a "clack" sound. When I restarted the computer the hard drive made some noices and the fans started to turn at high speed for ~3 seconds.NB : I upgraded to bios CDCN35WW few days before. After the incident I updated to CDCN37WW.  Today the problem happened again (keyboard not responding). Before trying to reboot I unpluged and pluged back my mouse (Lenovo gaming mouse). As I expected, it did not function once I pluged it back. I tried to log out before rebooting. At that time Windows crashed and I saw the BSOD for 1 second before the computer shut down and reboot showing the Novo Button Menu (the keyboard was still not responding at this time).I rebooted by pressing the power button, once again some worrysome electrical noices while I was doing so.The computer restarted and once again noices from the hard drive + fans at full speed. Any suggestion ? Are BIOS updates bugged ?Thanks in advance for any help.

i bought lenovo y560 like a year ago.Because of virus i had to install the win7 ultimate non geniune.Since my gpu is ati radeon mobility hd 5730,i downloaded the driver from both support and from amd.com.me gpu is not being detected.even in auto detect my hardware was not detected.it was workin fine before.it is givin a max resolution of 1024*768,which is actually 1366*768 my wifi and other wireless components cannot be selected using the fn button.please help!

Answer:graphic hardware not detected in lenovo ideapad y560

i have a y470 but it could be different for you..there are 2 main partitions (the C and D drive (or partition) )..the D partition should contain all the drivers bundled with the laptop (factory drivers)...When I fresh installed ultimate on my y470 i had the same issue..the resolution has to do with an intel or nvidia (ati in your case driver) video driver being missing... i just installed every driver from that "D" partition apart from the bloatware and it worked...if you dont have that partion, i suggest you visit lenovo's site and download the video drivers for your ideapad...hope this helps.

Hi Guys,

I was wondering if someone could direct me to the proper windows 8.1 professional drivers for my lenovo ideapad y470? I saw other threads but nothing specific and I want to make sure I have the right drivers. I installed the drivers from the official website, but I read something about using the old windows 7 energy management tool and some other things so I want to know I installed everything properly. Here are some screenshots of what I have installed and perhaps you could tell me if I need to uninstall or install something I missed?

Here is a screenshot to better help understand my issue:

Link to picture

1) What can I do about my (D: ) drive? Is it suppose to be there... How do I find out if my computer is actually using those drivers... I am fairly certain those in (C: ) are what is being used so I am confused about the (D: ) drive.

2) Looking at the (C: ) drive (if i'm right about it being what my computer is using) do I have the correct drivers installed?

My main concern is that my gfx card is functioning properly. Sometimes when I am playing a game it is very smooth and then it will get choppy then continue being smooth. It seems to happen on and off. it doesn't make the games unplayable but it seems strange to me and frustrating at times. These are games optimized with Nvidia GeForce Experience so I'd think there would be 0 fps lag? Maybe I am wrong and that is just how it works? How do I know my graph... Read more

Answer:Lenovo ideapad Y470 hardware upgrade + windows 8.1 pro (64 bit) drivers

D: drive is a hidden partition with drivers and applications that are installed during recovery. Seems like during update the information to hide this partition was lost. You don't have to do anything about it. Regarding hardware:The correct ram for your laptop is laptop DDR3 (so-dimm). The exact model should be DDR3-1600 or DDR3-PC12800 (same, different name). Watch out for DDR3L- those are for newer Haswell CPUs.There is a latch on the bottom side of the laptop where you can access RAM sticks. If you have only one- just buy another 4GB stick. Unless you do heavy graphic/video editing or are running Virtual Machines you won't benefit from more than 8GB of RAM. If you have already 2 sticks installed, then unfortunately you will have to replace them. You can go 2x8GB for 16GB of RAM, or save some money and buy 2x4GB.If Y470 has mSATA port, then it would be a good idea to buy a mSATA SSD. This way you'll have both SSD, and your old hard drive in your laptop. There's plenty to choose from. Read some reviews and comparisons on the internet. Stick with popular brands like OCZ, Crucial, Samsung, Plextor. 128GB should be enough for OS and apps as long as you keep all data like movies and pictures on your HDD.

Hi, I have purchased Lenovo Z510 (model 59-398016) laptop yesterday and I was not able to find out how I can -1. Access BIOS2. Run a full hardware diagnostic test (just to ensure that all's well and I have no reason to return it to the vendor due to a manufacturing defect). I previously owned a Lenovo ThinkPad R61 model which had Lenovo ThinkVantage blue button which led me to Rescue & Recovery mode where I could do full system tests in once shot! I could not find an equivalent in my new Ideapad. Can anyone help? Thanks. Regards,Deepak Gupta

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad Z510 full hardware diagnostic tests

To access you bios all you have to do is press the NOVO button and select "bios setup" in the pop up menu. Refer to the user's guide to locate the button. For other manual such as maintenance manual you can go to this link. There is no diagnostic program included in most of the ideapad series. So you can just probably choose a third party program if you want one. Hope this will get you started.

So everything has been working fine on my laptop until about 10:30PM EST tonight. I bought it new in August 2011.
Specs:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
CPU: Intel Core i7-2630QM @ 2.00 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
HD: 750 GB
BIOS: 45CN36WW

It's always been a fine machine with NO problems.
However, last night there were Windows 7 updates that were installed and then restarted my computer. I had not gotten a chance to check exactly what they were though. About 10:30 this evening, flash crashed in Mozilla Firefox which is not that uncommon, and from there Firefox closed, and so did my Microsoft Word and Excel apps that were open. From there, my computer began to shut down and restart. When it went to restart, all it could do was go to the opening Lenovo screen which gives you the F2 (setup option) and F12 (multiboot menu option) as it typically does. Besides a thin strip at the top that appeared after about 30 secs that only displays moving static that eventually will just stick, that is where the boot process ends. No Windows 7 screen, and certainly no opportunity to boot into safe mode to check for any problems. The screen freezes and goes nowhere.

So basically, all I'm getting in terms of boot options are lenovo features, not windows 7 features, meaning it won't boot into windows 7 or windows 7 safe mode no matter what I try. The biggest problem here is that I have no windows 7 disc to even try to boot from my dvd drive.

Anybody have any suggestions on what the probl... Read more

My laptop rebooted and had a blue screen that gave me options to fix, reset to factory, etc however the keyboard wasn't working so I couldn't put in my password. The only option without the password was to reset totally so I did. After a while another screen popped up saying there was an issue with the resetting. Long story short when I reboot only the lenovo splash comes up, F2 and F12 at the bottom of the screen, and the curser in the top left corner blinks a few times and then disappears. I can't get it to boot for nothing. I am able to plug another keyboard in but now all I get is the black screen and have no options to reset. I've read that the bios is probably the issue but have not clue how to get this set back up. Won't read usb flash. Please help.

I just bought this laptop for about 1 month, the laptop work fine before. But after...I don't know maybe after the windows update, the driver make the screen flickering and some dots appear on the screen, sometimes the screen lagging and went black. I'm pretty sure it's because of the driver because if I disable it, everything is fine, but that is just a temporary fix, every games is unplayable when I disable the driver. I tried to reinstall it using driver from Intel, Windows, Lenovo but none of them work(newest)

Hi all,I have had my Lenovo for a little over a year. It suddenly decided to direct me to a troubleshooting blue screen (with options such as refresh and reset) if I try turning it on (It's labeled by the computer as automatic system repair.). All the options on troubleshooting, such as refreshing, resetting, or performing a system restore, are not allowing me to use them.I tried using the button near the charger to access the system restore and set it to its factory settings (with OneKey Recovery) but if I try turning it on, it still redirects to the automatic system repair and the blue screen. It is a month past warranty, so Lenovo is asking me for $99++ and 7+ business days to restore to factory settings.must be an easier way? I have all my files on Carbonite, so I really just need to get to the factory setting. Could anyone help me with some ideas? I really need this computer for work. It used Windows 8, which is what it initially came with.Thank you, and take care!!

If you can download installation media from Microsoft, you can create a bootable USB and boot from that to fix it. You need another computer (with internet connection of course) to do that though.

Hi, I seem to encounter SO many problems with my Ideapad U310 - which is about 6 months old. My laptop's been getting the blue screen of death a LOT these days - the error number seems to be different most of these times so I can't seem to figure out what's wrong. It's also been freezing a lot, so the only thing I can do is a hard reboot. I also have a horizontal line of bright blue pixels about an inch from the bottom of my screen, is a replacement of the screen the only thing I can do? If anyone has any clue as to what I should do, PLEASE help! I'm starting work soon and I can't afford to lose precious documents because I get BSOD'd everyday!!  Best, Ipsh

The cursor can move, but the entire screen is black. Use alt+ctl+delete can access the task manager option, but when I choose the task manager, the screen turn black again.  Right before the blue screen, I was watching vedio in the yotube and did not open other softeware. My kid has been using this laptop and loved it, but mentioned a while ago it was difficult to power it back on after turnned it off. However she managed to work around by putting it in hibernate/sleeping mode only, or recycling the system many times (by holding on power button to force it off). The issue was black screen (no Lenovo logo) but computer was on. I didn't pay much attention because she can still make it work, and I was too busy. Last week, there was a windows update (again) and the computer was forced recycle. It never comes back alive again. The same, computer is humming, but no any visual output on screen, just black. Tried novo button, bootable USB, external monitor, all no use. Check the warranty, just over by 2 months! Asked the service store, to fix will cost at least $200-$300 to replace the motherboard! It does not make sense when spent a bit more could buy a new notebook. But my kid liked it and it does not make sense to throw it away either, when it still looks pretty new and only being used very lightly (schoolwork only). It is sad, especially the brand has been gainning my trust. I probably don't expect a "good" solution either from Lenovo or community, but just throw my frustration here (only because have just registered the account and there is no support email or web form). If Lenovo want to make customer happy, the part shouldn't be so expensive for a short-lived laptop! Just by the way, there are many posts about Ideapad's black screen i... Read more

Answer:Lenovo Ideapad U410 - no screen output or black screen, and just out of warranty

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

Sorry to hear of all the problems.  Here are a couple of things to try........

First, try a reset of the BIOS.  The procedure can be useful in resolving some hardware conflicts which your computer may have.  Just do this......

1. Unplug the charger / adapter. 2. Press and hold the Power Button for 15 seconds. 3. Plug in the charger / adapter if needed and power up the system to see if the problem was resolved.

If you are comfortable working inside your laptop. try this........

Try the reset again with the battery removed.

If the reset didn't resolve the problem then you may have a failed piece of hardware preventing the bootup. Remove the battery, hard drive, optical drive, memory, wireless card and bluetooth if it is installed. Now try to power up the stripped laptop. With all the hardware removed you should have lights come on and it may possibly beep since there is no memory installed. If the laptop is showing signs of life start adding hardware one piece at a time starting with a memory module and boot up the laptop. If it doesn't power up try the memory in the other slot. Also try the other memory module separately in both slots if two are available. If it is still showing signs of life add another piece and boot. Do this for each item until it doesn't power up again. The last piece of hardware installed is your problem part.

Please help. My Ideapad has basically stopped working.  My operating system is Windows 7 Home Edition.  A few days ago, my computer froze up and I got the blue Windows screen that says: "A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.  A process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated..."  The blue screen went on to say that I should restart Windows with safe-mode and remove any recently added programs.  I did this and I believe I successfully removed Java, which is the only new software I updated recently (although I wish I had not).  I was also able to restore my computer to about a week before the crash. However, only rarely am I able to get windows to start again at all, whether in safe mode or not.  I'd say 4 out of 5 times, I am seeing the Lenovo boot-up screen for about 3 minutes, and then I get a black screen that says the following: Intel UNDI.  PXE-2.1 (build 082)Copyright (C) 1997-2000 Intel Corporation This Product is covered by one or more of the following patents:US5,307,459, US5,434,872, US5,732, US6,570,884, US6,115,776 andUS6,327,625 Realtek PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller Series v2.26 (090219)PXE-E61:  Media test failure, check cablePXE-M0F:  Exiting PXE ROMOperating system not found That message repeats itself if I press any key, and if I press the power button the... Hi there, since about 1 week my Thinkpad is driving me bananas with 3-5 BSOD per day, all ending with STOP and erro code either 7 or 8. I have EXACTLY the same problem.X61 7675-CTO with 4Gb RAM Vista UltimateI am getting 5-7 BSOD per day and it is driving me nuts.I have to save my work every minute or so - because my ThinkPad could crash at any moment.I have reinstalled the Intel Turbo Memory diver, the Intel video chipset driver.I have even done a complete clean reinstall to factory default and then reinstalled all updates and drivers from latest versions at Lenovo.com  (it's easy to write a sentence like that but it takes me hours to complete)I still get random BSODs - even when the PC has no apps running (but I have plenty of services running thanks to all the Windows and ThinkVantage stuff that is installed). The lenovo support folks have said that their basic support can't really help me any further and I need to pay for elevated support. This PC is less than 60 days old...I spoke to someone in paid support (don't know what lenovo call their paid support) and explained the problem and told them there is no way I am paying to get BSODs resolved on a factory-state new ThinkPad - he agreed it was unfair and sent me back to first line support who restarted with the same old "have you tried reinstalling drivers?"Um, yes.I cannot afford to spend endless hours reinstalling the system and drivers trying to troubleshoot this.I decided to downgrade to Windows XP Pro and so ordered the install media from Lenovo (USD50 approx). The XP Pro restore media arrived yesterday and I can boot up into the Rescue and Recov... I bought a ideapad Y550P this May from Microsoft store.  in the first month, I experience the bluescreen 3 times.  the machine will not be able to find hard drive after the crashes.  Only after 10-20 min, I was able to get the system back.  I thought it might be the driver issue, so I downloaded all the latest driver from lenovo support site.  It still crashes from time to time.  2-3 time a week.  I was not not doing anything heavy, usually just web browsing, when all of sudden I got into the blue screen and the machine started memory dumping.  I experienced one 30 minutes ago, the error said sth related to irq.   I just wonder what I should do with this machine?  I know I can not return to Microsoft store now, which I should have done it in the first month.  I was just too busy to do that.  Shall I send it to Lenovo for service?  but since there is no way to reproduce the error, how can I prove that the machine needs service?  any advice is welcome.

Answer:Blue screen, Ideapad Y550P

BTW, the machine is running windows 7 64bit.

I've always had blue screens periodically with this laptop - had it just over a year now - but they never really bothered me. Until this morning when I woke up and tried to turn it on, after a lengthy loadup screen with the lenovo logo it went straight to a blue screen. As soon as the screen came up the laptop shut off, not giving me time to see what the error code is. When it restarts it tries to boot up system repair then goes to a black screen for ~10 minutes before blue screening and promptly restarting again. This time the restart is like the first time, straight to blue screen, then the repair to blue screen again. It just repeats this process over and over. I'm running windows 8 (not 8.1) and F8ing on the startup screen doesn't work, any help please?

Hi dadys, thanks for posting you concerns and sorry to hear about the issues you're facing. I was just wondering when exactly does the BSOD occur? Does it happen when ur running a specific app or just doing some light work on it? Another thing i'd like to confirm with you is, does this happen when connected to AC or battery and was there any modifications that you did to your machine such as upgrading of the RAM or changing of the Hard driver.Sorry for the list of questions, just wanted to narrow the issue.Regards

I recently purchased a Samsung 840EVO 250G SSD hard driver and made it as my main system drive. I installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on the SSD. However, after I installed Lenovo Energy Management Windows 7, it prompted me a message telling me to restart the PC. When I do so, the computer wouldn't able to boot again. A flash of a blue screen showed up after the Windows 7 logo done and the computer rebooted again; and it keep looping and looping. I am able to fix the blue screen by system restoring. However, the Lenovo Energy Management was still not installed. I'm just wondering, has anyone encountered this problem before, and what are the solutions of fixing this problem. Thank you.

I have a new Asus A7V8X-X Mobo with BFG Nvidia Geforce 5200 Ultra. The work fine while using the PC, mostly. I sometimes get errors from 1942 and get kicked back to windows. Sometimes when I exit 1942 normally my PC just reboots. And I gotten a blue screen every day since installed the hardware Tuesday. I've updated ALL drivers for ALL components in the PC last night, and left the machine running all night. When I woke up, there was a blue screen with error codes: 0x0000008E, 0xC0000005, etc.

I know this is usually a hardware confliction issue, but don't see any conflict in device manager. Can anyone give me some suggestions?

Answer:ideapad z370 blue screen error

Hi, If the STOP 0x0000007B error occurs(does it?) during the Windows setup process, the reason could be  driver related, Be sure to install the latest hard drive controller driver from the Lenovo site. Other possible reasons would be a faulty hard drive, even a virus, unlikely though it seems.

Perhaps it would be helpful to add that on start-up it is always dim. It is not a case of starting bright and turning dim.

hi,

i get a blue screen saying hardware malfunction. what should i do?

Answer:blue screen - hardware malfunction

Hello,

What operating system do you have...and when does it occur...?

Unplug all unnecessary devices and see if the problem occurs (including any internal PCI soundcards, PCI network cards etc...) and only leave vital components connected. Troubleshoot from there.

Answer:blue screen of death with all new hardware

yesterday i tested i ran memtest 86+ and i got 24 errors after 1 pass of 8 tests , does this means that my ram is at fault for this or there might be some other problem.Any errors with memtest86+ indicate that either the memory chip is bad or the memory slot on the motherboard is bad. If you have more then one memory chip, test each separately. They should be able to complete 7 full passes without errors for minimal confidence that the chip is "OK."The test can be stopped if there are any errors.Retest a bad chip in a different slot.

In prior post, it was suggested I do a repair installation. I did. Now I get the Blue STOP screen w/ 0x0000007e (0xc0000005, 0xf782f750, 0xf7a46454, 0xf7a46154) on the 1st startup after in stall. This is a 200gig HD w/ over 123gig open, so know it is not HD space. New MB & CPU & mem so would not think it is BIOS out of date. See hardware below in my prior post.

I read the MS support http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=330182&sd=RMVP

I have a pre SP1 version of XP Home Edition. I just did a repair, so the SP2 should still be active; right?

I cannot start in safe mode because the install never completed.

Have an old 60gig HD and did a fresh install on it, but there were numerous files that would not copy. I let it complete the install, but it took forever. 39 minute countdown took over 2 hrs. Then when it finally did finish to the 2nd reboot, it asked me for an admin password, but I never entered one. Because I did not know the password, it would not let me proceed.

I removed the old video drivers & installed the new ones before doing the XP repair.

Do I just need to start over with a new XP version w/ SP2? or will this be wasted money?

Help! Getting very frustrated.

Thanks

FROM MY PRIOR POST
Had P4 1.9 Socket 478, Albatron MB w/ old ATI All in Wonder, Old SB Audigy.

MB & mem went out so upgraded to:
ABIT AN8 SLI, Socket 939
1GB DDR
AMD 64 3200+
Leadtek Winfast PX6200 TC TDH PCI Express 64MB on board
MB has "Audiomax 7.1 daughter card that plug... Read more

About ten minutes ago I logged onto t'internet and got my e-mails as usual and suddenly I got the dreaded blue screen and the following message*** Hardware MalfunctionCall your hardware vendor for support***The system has halted ***I have not changed anything on the system and my son said he had been playing tiger woods 2005 about 3/4 of an hour earlier and had no trouble. Anyone had a similar message as this does not compute to my brain which holds little knowledge.athlon xp 2000, nvidia fx5200, 512mb ram, winxp (no sp2, hate it aaarrgghh).Bit scared now that system may have serious problem.

Answer:Blue screen and Hardware Malfunction

Have you rebooted and seen if the message returns? If still same on normal reboot. then boot into safe mode (tap F8 after first screen) and disable harware in device manager until fault goes away you'll then Know which piece of equipment causes the failure.

Is it possible a Machine Check Error Blue Screen (that is supposed to say "hardware" is the cause) to be caused by a driver issue?

If so, is there any possible way to fix this if the system can no longer be booted? The BSOD comes up before any mode of windows XP will load or finish loading.

Answer:Question About Hardware Blue Screen

Yes of course it can be a driver.

You can enable and disable drivers/services in the Recovery Console and you can also copy and replace any system files. You'd have to know which driver to blame of course.
