Preferred Solution: Android phone not recognized on Lenovo X230

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Answer: Android phone not recognized on Lenovo X230

Part 1. How to Connect Android to PC in USB ModeStep 1: Connect your Android phone into computer using a USB cable. You can use the same cable that you use to charge it.Step 2: Tap the ?USB? option from the Notification Panel on your Android device, then select ?MTP? mode.Step 3: Wait while the driver is installed, then open the ?Computer/This PC?, you?ll find your Android device. The procedure above is a normal connection between Android device and PC. If there is anything abnormal during your operation, you can try the tips in part 4. Please note, there is still one more step before the transfer and recovery tool can recognize your device. Just follow the steps in part 2 and 3 to proceed. Part 2. Enable USB Debugging on Different Android OS VersionOnly when USB debugging is turned on, can Android phone be recognized by development tools. The primary function of this mode is to facilitate a connection between an Android device and a computer with Android SDK (Software Development Kit). Phones running on different versions of Android OS have different ways to enable USB debugging mode. Please check the Android version of your phone first: Settings > About Phone > Android version.Detailed Steps on How to Enable USB Debugging on Different Android Versions: A. For Android 4.2 and above versions:Go to Settings > About Phone > navigate to Build Number > tap Build Number for seven times. Afterwards, a message will appear informing that you are now a developer.Back to Settings > Developer Options > tick on USB debugging > tap OK to allow USB debugging.B. For Android 4.1 and 4.0:Go to Settings > Developer Options > enable it > USB debugging > allow USB debugging.C. For Android 2.3 and previous versions:Go to Settings > Applications > Development > tick on USB debugging. It?s all. Part 3. Enable USB Debugging on Android with Broken ScreenOnce USB debugging is been enabled, the development tool should recognize your Android device. What if your phone screen is broken or cracked? Is it possible to enable USB debugging with broken screen? Don?t worry, you can buy an OTG Adapter to connect your phone and USB mouse, then use the mouse to make actions on the phone to enable USB debugging. Part 4. Fix Android Phone Wont Connect to ComputerChange another USB cable instead. Some USB cables may not work properly if they were broken or of interior quality.Check the USB port of both Android device and computer to see if they both can work normally. The USB port are prone to getting broken by abnormal ejection and insertion.Remove other USB devices that are attached to the computer, as they may be conflicting with the device you wish to connect with.Install USB Driver for your Android device. If you?re sure the USB cable and ports are fine, you may need to download the proper USB driver according to the brand and model of your device...best regards...

i have tried most steps i know in other to make it work. I have gone through the device manager to allow it work while in sleep mode and also changed the power option, but it still remains the same. Does this happen to other lenovo product or is it that my windows 7 ultimate os installed on it is countering it? I do charge the phone with a friends laptop before i got this new one. Any solution will b useful please

Answer:lenovo g570 laptop doesnt charge my android phone when in sleep mode

It may depend on whether you have an "always on" charging USB port.  Download your user manual / maintence manual for your notebook and look for this feature.  If not listed, it may not work in sleepmode regardless.

I know this question is a bit weird, but I tried to find the answer and no luck or maybe I don't know how to properly research it.

Anyway, I got a bit curious about the Android OS on the phone and the tablet, and I thought if they are the samething or two different OS.

I mean the reason I asked is that if I got a tablet and download a "Steam App" to chat. Will it look like a phone style or not?

I mean I did try it on the school's iPad, and it look like a phone app. Yeah I know, I was just testing if it'll make a big screen rather a tiny ass screen on a 9.8" iPad.

Answer:Is Android OS on the tablet is the samething as Android OS on the phone?

The OS is the same - the issue is whether or not the developer formats the app to take advantage of the larger real estate on a tablet. If not, Android will blow the app up to fill the screen.

You'll need to ask on the developer's website.
Generally speaking, games don't follow you between different platforms.

I have a Android - ZTE Maven with a small data pkg and just wondered if setting up the Phone Companion from Windows 10 is worth it or will it eat up my data by turning on the app and listening to the music stored on my laptop.....or should I just stick with listening to the limited music stored on my external microSD? I'm guessing that if I'm on WiFi I could use it, but while I'm driving (car w/o WiFi) it would only work off a data pkg.???
I can't seem to find any info online about this anywhere.

I'm thinking about switching from my Lumia Icon to a Samsung Galaxy S6 since I'm getting tired of waiting for Microsoft to bring a new Windows Phone to Verizon. I will return to Windows eventually though if Microsoft ever releases a decent flagship Windows Phone on Verizon again. But until then I'm getting quite fed up and I'm losing my patience. I've waited over 2 years for a new phone and now it seems like it could be more years before there's even a possibility of a new flagship coming to Verizon. I'm locked in to Verizon because of a shared business account so I can't just switch carriers on a whim. If I do switch though, will I be able to transfer all my contacts and text messages over to the S6?

Answer:Can you transfer text messages and contacts from a Windows Phone to an Android phone?

Hi there,
WindowsCentral members would be more familiar with transferring SMS to a Windows Phone, rather than away from it.
Contacts definitely can be transferred. I'm not sure about SMS (Samsung Smart Switch is for transferring data from another Android device or an iPhone).
I'd suggest that you ask over at our sister site AndroidCentral. They would probably be better able to help. Ask a Question - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com

I have installed the shareit app. I can transfer files from my windows phone to android phone easily by this app. But when I try to transfer files from android to windows phone, this app does not work except both phones are connected to same wifi network. Windows phone hotspot is not working with it.

Answer:How can I transfer files from my Windows Phone to an Android phone with the Shareit app?

Share it uses WiFi direct. You should not have your devices connected to any network, otherwise they will not be able to connect directly since WiFi will already be in use.

Hello. I have recently had an upgrade on my phone contract and this has had me move away from windows to android.
I've been looking around the web to find solutions as to how i can put my text messages from my old (windows) phone to my new (android) phone.
I has successfully transferred all my contacts over with relative ease and the next step was to get my text messages across. I found out about an app called "Transfer My Data" which claims to work on all windows phones (and is compatible with other operating systems ie. android, iphone etc.) however it doesnt seem to be available for windows phone 7.
So the question is; is there any way of getting my text messages from my windows phone 7 to my new android.
PS. i also have this query about transferring whatsapp messages across too.
Im a little new to this forum bizz, so please be gentle :P

I've tried using the Transfer my Data app on my Lumia 930 to get my contacts and texts from my Samsung Galaxy S2. But I can't even get the phones to pair over Bluetooth, even if I try to do it manually.
Doing it manually, I turn on BT for both devices and set the S2 to be discoverable. The Lumia finds it and I tap it to pair it. The Lumia pops up a message with a number. The S2 sits there thinking (it says 'pairing' next to the Lumia) until eventually the Lumia times out. A few minutes later, if I'm lucky, the S2 pops up the same number. But it's too late as the Lumia has already timed out. I get the same thing happening with the Transfer my Data app.
This afternoon the process descended into comedy as they were so out of sync that the S2 was popping up not the last number offered by the Lumia, but the number before that!
Is there some way I can make it work, or is there some other method I can try? It won't be a disaster if I can't get my texts onto the Lumia but it would be nice if I can.
I'm loving the Lumia 930, by the way. It was only delivered this morning, but I haven't found a single problem other than transferring texts so far. Looking forward to having it all set up as my main device.

Answer:How can I get my SMS texts from my Android phone to my Windows phone?

Congratulations on your new Lumia 930!
Unfortunately, unless your contacts and SMS messages are synced to an account you're signed into on your Galaxy S2 (I doubt it with the S2), I can't think of a way to get your messages over. I'm sorry that Transfer Your Data isn't working. It seems like an issue with the Galaxy S2, probably because it's older, with older software and older hardware.

Hello!

This is definitely a Windows 10 thing. If I connect either my Nexus 5 or my LG G4 to my PC via USB the phone is recognized. I can see it in Windows Explorer but clicking on it does nothing, no access to files.

Before I made the jump from Vista to Windows 10 it worked fine. There has to be some setting someplace. I did apply a hotfix (KB3099229_x64) which was supposed to fix the issue. It did not!

If there's some trick to it could you share it with me???

Thanks for you help way in advance!

Dave

Answer:Android device recognized but cannot access files on it

Are you sure you switched your phone to "File transfer" mode, as opposed to "Charging only" mode? Because this is exactly what happens when you connect an Android phone in "Charging only" mode: it becomes visible in Windows (e.g. in File Explorer), but shows as empty device - no file access.

In standard cookie-cutter Android Marshmallow you are supposed to manually switch the phone to "File transfer" mode every time you connect it to the computer. (Before Marshmallow it was possible to set a default mode, but for some reason they removed that capability in Marshmallow).

Dear Lenovo community, I am the lucky owner of a Lenovo X230 which comes with the almighty Windows 7 and have been through a vast majority of this forum without finding any answer. Whereas my HTC smartphone works perfectly with my Philips Soundbar via Bluetooth, I am less satisfied with the quality of the Bluetooth signal provided by my laptop. The Bluetooth is correctly activated, the soundbar is recognized, I updated my laptop with the latest driver available on the Lenovo website (ThinkPad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) Version : 6.5.1.3800 released on March, 25th 2013), but the sound is regularly ?cut? whether I play a MP3, video file, webradio, etc. Do you have any leads on this matter? Many thanks in advance, Didier

Answer:Bluetooth issues on X230/Win7 - activated and soundbar recognized but unsatisfying "signal"

I have the exact same issue with my Bluetooth Portable Speaker. It works like a charm with my phone. No lag, no clicks, no disconnection. But with my X230 running Windows 7 I experience delay in audio as soon as I move the laptop more than 5 feet away from the speaker. Then sometimes even if I move nothing the audio just stops to work and I need to unpair and re-pair the device. Sometimes I even need to restart Windows to get it to work again.  Were you able to find a solution for this?

Question: android phone

just found out i can go into my cell phone thu my mobile hotspot setting and use my data from my cell phone to get on the internet on my laptop.

Is this a got thing or not as i am going to be out in the dessert in a camper and i need to get on the internet useing the cell is so hard the screen is small to see. what do you think. please help me. busygal

Answer:android phone

It's not something I would do regularly because you can eat up your mobile data plan very quickly and you pay a lot of extra charges. I suggest you check with your carrier for combined data plans. I have one with my carrier that combines my data plan for my phone and tablet. I don't have a laptop but I know they have combined data plans for that too. There are ways to do this economically but you should shop around and see what carriers in your area have.

Am looking to ditch my iphone to head to the other side....... My question is, which android phone do I buy? Sure the newer stuff has all the hardware benefits, but I have heard the Nexus One may be a better buy because the software will update sooner and is more likely to receive newest updates being a Google phone. If not the Nexus, then what and why. I am a general user / smart phone enthusiast and live in New Zealand where reception can sometimes also be an issue.

Answer:Which Android Phone?

I use Desire, which is perfect. I also used G1 before, but since it's the 1st gen Android, not stable, but Desire is really cool.

The Wifi at my house connects to my phone with full bars but it wont load anything or work what so ever! Here's some more information... my phone runs on the android operating system, OnePlusOne is the name of my phone) when it connects sometimes there will be an exclamation point that shows up next to it and this only happens at my house. Every other wifi network i connect to works just fine except my own. My computer connected with an Ethernet cable works just fine and the wifi is functional on it and my laptop (wireless) also connects and uses the network with no issues.
So far i have tried rebooting my phone, disconnecting and reconnecting, turning my wifi on my phone off and then on again, and turning my router/modem off and then on again as well. If you may know a possible solution please answer this.

As a loyal WP user I'm often asked this question. With MS focusing on transitioning more into services and pushing more of their products/services cross platform this question becomes increasingly harder to answer. From a company (MS) perspective it's extremely lucative to focus on services. At the same time the company must drive WP to a preferred platform. To help accomplish this MS services that are cross platform must be best experienced on MS products.
Of course the APP situation is currently an uncontrollable pain point and you can't dispute an end-user looking for a specific app (ex: xyz banking) that doesn't exist in our ecosystem however WP needs more unique/useful offerings that the competitors can't duplicate. Many users and sales representatives are quick to dismiss WP without ever trying it let alone those who have tried it and complain about something needed as minor as a game (ex: Candy Crush).
If MS could partner with a leading developer on the next 'must have' app or game maybe the tides will begin shifting in our favor. Some exclusivity in access and features would be needed. Imbedding KINECT into WP sounds like a great idea in theory and will be useful however Samsung started using a touchless tracking system in 2013 which means KINECT will have to offer significantly more features to be a real game changer. Hopefully imbedding KINECT will not impeed features or performance like was discovered with the XBOX ONE.

Answer:What can Windows Phone do that iOS and Android can't?

I have not used other platforms apart from WP for a long time now, but one thing I see different from my friends around - I can drive my car with a complete offline navigation system (Nokia Here maps) while my friends with Android & iPhone in their hands wonder how I am going without data. You can attribute this more towards application feature, but thats a difference I see in a daily life.

Microsoft seems to be doing a lot of things right with Windows 10. At their event they showed a lot of good things in hardware. I have never tried a Windows Phone before, but I do have a Surface Pro 3 and Windows has been my PC OS since my first computer.
I want to try Windows Phone but I am not sure if it's still a good choice. Have you made the switch from Android to Windows Phone? Did you think you made the right choice? How does Windows Phone compare to Android (feature wise, app wise, etch.)?

Answer:Android to Windows Phone

To be honest, you're the only one who can really just that. There's certainly going to be change, but the impact of that depends on just how deeply embedded you are into various apps and services. If you're a heavy Google user, you'll find that there's not much Google love for Windows Mobile. If you're dependant on certain apps, you'll need to see if they're well supported on Windows Mobile.

So has anybody gotten really into the "link phone" feature and want to share what this actually allows you to do? I finally updated to the Fall Creators Update today. I'd been pretty interested for a while after hearing rumors that it allows you to control your PC from your phone and stuff like that. So far, it seems like these rumors were overblown, but a little research has made me aware of the "Continue on PC" and "Cloud Clipboard" features.

Unfortunately, it sounds to me like these features don't actually have anything to do with linking the system clipboards of your devices and instead let you link between Microsoft only apps like Word and the Swiftkey keyboard on your phone. I find the concept really cool. I use Google Now and Chrome a lot on my phone. I wouldn't mind being able to open an article I'm reading on my PC for later reading. If I could copy a link on my phone and be able to paste it into something like Discord on my PC so I could share an article or Youtube video, or do the reverse and copy a link on my PC and then paste it into a text message on my phone, that would be really cool. And I've always wanted to use my phone to control my PC from my bed in a non-jank way.

Is any of this actually possible or are all the new features from 1709 just prodding from Microsoft to use their browser and other apps on your various devices?

Answer:What can you actually do once you link an Android phone?

I've started to see more connectivity between my phone and PC with the FCU features. Here are a few of the things I now have:

Text messages and other messages (e.g. WhatsApp) which I receive on my phone also appear as notifications on my PC so I do not have to use my phone to read them, I can also reply via the notification popup as well.

Using Microsoft Edge on my Android phone allows me to send any page I am reading on my phone to my desktop for later follow-up. I find this very useful.

I use Cortana on my PC to set up reminders for appointments and tasks, these also appear on Cortana on my phone so even when I am away from my PC I get the reminders.

I think these are the three main benefits I enjoy on a daily basis.

If you're rooted and/or have a custom recovery, then you can do it from your phone through said custom recovery (such as ClockworkMod Recovery or TWRP).

If you're fully stock, then you'll have to use ADB.

I read that Microsoft stayed the Astoria Platform the latest Insider updates 10.0.10581 for Windows Phone. In addition, there are other solutions to deploy Andoid app to Windows 10 phone, without Astoria. Answer:Android apk to windows 10 phone

No, that's not going to happen. That tool was only ever supposed to be for developers to test their own apps and not intended for anyone to load any Android app they happened to find on the internet (which is basically piracy).
Ask the developer of the Android app to create a Windows Phone version.

Hi,
I also have two phones, which have different carriers and OS'es (WP and Android). For the longest time, I have used WP (Nokia Lumia 830 on WP 8.1) as my daily driver because I am so comfortable using this OS for normal phone usage (call, text, Here Maps, reading emails using Outlook, using Excel for finance tracking, using OneNote for notes, etc) in contrast with Android phones.
Now, I am thinking of replacing my Android phone with a better one. What comes to mind is the ZTE Axon 7 or the HTC 10 because I am an audiophile, and the speakers that these phones have are superb compared to Windows Mobile phones. The HP Elite x3 should have been a great option for me even though it's not an Android phone, but it's already outside of my allotted budget for my secondary phone.
Now what bugs me is if I'm going to buy a better-specced phone than my Nokia Lumia 830, I might as well use it as my primary driver. BUT as I said, I am very much comfortable on the WP ecosystem that even the lack of apps doesn't hinder me from using it frequently.
My question is if I'm going to switch to an Android phone as my primary driver, won't I have trouble using it (coming from WP ecosystem)? How could I adapt to the new OS?

Answer:How can I adapt from WP 8.1 to an Android phone?

That really depends partly on you and how you adapt to new things.
Android isn't incredibly different, the apps aren't necessarily weird but you'll certainly be shaking off some old habits over time. (like how I tried to use BlackBerry Keyboard gestures on a Windows Phone, Swype on a Sailfish OS phone, or webOS back-swipe on an iPod touch)
I think that we could take it step by step. Also worth noting that there are minor differences between Android flavors for each manufacturer, etc. But nothing you can't adapt to since the underlying software is the same, I'm talking about differences in features, appearance, and so on.

I have asked before but cannot find the original post so my problem is -

I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 phone and I keep info I use all the time ie codes, appointment times etc in an app called memo now this has been transferred to the SD card thinking I could open the memo and copy the info/data direct to my laptop or desktop but am met with a barrage of things to do like install Kies etc etc ad nauseum and then use sync the device etc only to find I still cannot open anything but photos everything else is just an empty or folder filled with jibberish.

What I would lie to find out is why data cannot be accessed from the phone even though I have installed the Kies and done everything that has been suggested?? I am now thinking of just taking photos of the memo app when it is open because I have already lost the lot when the phone crashed once before and redoing the data is annoyingly time consuming and extremely tedious.

Any ideas please - oh have asked on the android forum with not much luck.

Answer:Help with android phone connection

John are you trying to view your memos on the computer or transfer them to a new samsung phone? Memo is superseded by snotes I think so info will be scarce but do you have root on your phone? If you want to copy your notes as pics hold power and the home button at the same time it will take a clean screenshot for you.

I really don't know which to get. I hear the customization of the Android is better but that it is less secure, and get's bogged down after awhile. Also, how is Google's Music app compared to ITunes (apple music), Spotify, and Groove? What is the Microsoft launcher do for google phones exactly? How much better do Androids work with windows, than an IPhone does?
As far as Apple goes, how well does it work with a PC? I still plan on using Onedrive. How well does Onedrive integrate into the iPhone? Will my photos automatically upload to it like with Windows10Mobile? Can I post word files on my home screen?
I'm leaning towards the iPhone7 because it has a reputation of being secure, doesn't bog down in bloatware, and because of iTunes and Apple Music, even though Android is more customizable and may work better with Windows.
What do you guys think?

Answer:Apple or Android Phone?

Android pros: more diversity and that customization means you can set it up how you want. Cons: can be less secure but sticking to official apps should help?
IOS pros: More secure, stable, smooth, works as expected everytime. Well supported by devs and updates. Cons: limited hardware choice and customization.
Sadly, i would advise android, that openness has its downsides re security but ultimately will allow you to have more freedom and one thing Microsoft has taught us with Groove is that options (good ones) are always good.

Just bought windows phone and after years with Samsung, I love the windows phone but lack of apps is real problem. Need things like Schwab and lifelock, for example. Should I keep the windows phone in hopes they decide to accept android apps or return it? I love the ease of use but lack of apps is problem.

Answer:Can I get Android app on my Windows phone?

If lack of apps is a dealbreaker, pitch the phone.
I personally don't want Android apps for reasons, but its a rumor, and not guaranteed to even happen. It could, but it also may not, so we'll have to see.
Even if it was going to, it wont anytime soon. Maybe in a few months we'll have more information.

Unfortunately, despite my best efforts to find a better alternative, where I live my only option for unlimited internet with any speed whatsoever is to tether my DROID DNA phone to my computer using the app PdaNet. I've been doing this for over a year now without any problems. I have an unlimited data plan through Verizon and although I only have 3G at my house, it is still far better than anything else I've found.

Recently I started playing the online game World of Warcraft. Obviously the speed isn't ideal, but it worked perfectly fine for about 3 weeks. One night the game started to get really slow and after a minute or two would freeze up entirely. When this happened, I would have an error message on my phone at the PdaNet screen that read "Communication with client has been broken." Despite restarting things, this continued to happen. I assumed that it was because the weather was bad outside, but the problem didn't go away the next day. When I noticed that my internet speed when browsing the web had slowed down as well I figured that although I supposedly have unlimited data, that Verizon must have slowed me down for crossing over a certain download barrier. I've heard that they do this.

So this went on for the next week until the first of the month when my data was reset through Verizon. Well I'm still having the same issue when trying to play the game. It will work alright for anywhere from 30 seconds to 10 minutes, and then al... Read more

Answer:Tethering using my Android phone.

I'm still having slow internet speeds. I tried doing a factory reset on my phone but that hasn't helped. I also tried a few of the other, lesser known tethering apps and I'm not having any luck with those either.

I'm pretty much about of ideas at this point. Anyone out there who can give me a hand with this? Thanks.

I have a HTC Wildfire and have recently been getting the "low memory" message. When I check the applications for a culprit, it seems that "mail" is using 87Mb just for data. I have only one email account set up and always delete emails as soon as read. Having Googled the issue, it seems that the only solution might be to clear all data even though that would mean setting up the email account all over again. What could possibly be taking up 87Mb of space in the circumstances I have described?

There are a few tips here on the HTC Wildfire Forum. I don't know if any of these help, there are other threads covering memory issues that a problem to many with this android.

Hello.
I don't know is it a right section, so sorry. Next: sorry for my bad english. Let's go.
First thing - this is my first post. I'm looking for help to use my android phone as webcam by connecting it via USB. Second thing, the problem is:
I find a way to use my phone camera as web camera by using DroidCam soft. Ok, so I installed that app on my android phone, and another one on my PC (Windows 8.1). I cannot connect via USB couse it screams "No devices detected". Okay, I found the sollution that I must download and install the BlueStacks soft. So I have download propably the 0.8 version and in the middle of installing (again sorry for my bad english) my computer restart by itself. Now I cannot finish the installation couse install app says that I've already that soft, and I cannot upgrade to new version (I get a message I've new version already).
The point is that in the solution about Droidcam I must run that Bluesomthingshit to get it working. I cannot, couse it's not install on my computer (the folder have ~800mb, but it should have 2gb), I cannot uninstall it couse I don't have that application on list of instaled apps.
Can somebody help me with this? Or how to connect ASUS ZenFone (X00AD, android ver 6.0.1) via USB to laptop to get working webcam?
Cheers and thanks you.

I'm not going to restate the many missteps and blunders that Microsoft has made regarding WP, so suffice it to say that I've had enough. I'm tired of playing for a losing team, when I really don't have to.
I use a lot of Google services on my Windows devices, so I think Android would be the better choice for me. Problem is that I do not know a damn thing about Android hardware, and it's a bit overwhelming to just jump in. Any tips for picking a good phone? Websites or articles you found helpful, etc.
And for what it's worth, I have Verizon.
P.S. Please, just real advice, don't just come tell me how bad Android is. I know it will be different, and there will be things about WP that I miss, but overall I think I'll be happier. And if not, I'll just switch back if Microsoft ever gets their **** together (which is doubtful).

Answer:Best Android phone for WP defector?

I would really head on over to AC and pester people there since its what they do over there.
Anyways, I've found GSMArena's reviews to be some of the best, I especially find their battery tests useful.
I also read Ars Technica, AC, etc.
In the bargain bin, the Moto phones are definitely something, a Nexus may be the way to go if you can otherwise.
I'm reluctant to plug BLU and other cheaper phones since it seems updates over there isn't so hot.
If you had to go carrier branded, I would get something popular so hopefully updates wouldn't be forgotten entirely - but untied from a carrier is probably recommended. (but its VZW so that may be an issue.)
If I could get any Android phone, it'd probably be an Xperia Compact or if I had to be cheap, and older Galaxy S or Moto E/G/X. (although I'd love a BB Priv or Galaxy in a smaller package - Nexus phones are also of note.)

got multiple questions in this post

this is for an asus zenfone 3, android 7.1.1
my win10 pro machine sees the phone ok, in devices it shows the following drivers see below
just wondering why there are the 6 drivers?
why are some .sys files and others .dll's?
does a list like this indicate all 6 must be installed, eg they are like a package and work with each other?

another win10 home machine does not see phone in explorer, in devices there is an "android" but its properties has no driver found and none to be found using all the update, install, etc tools
so the question is... should I or can I just copy the drivers from the win 10 pro machine and install them on the win10 home machine?
I know how install .dll's with regsvr32 but not sure what to do with the .sys files?
I have tried to find a .inf package for android (there is no package from asus) and let windows do an install with that but haven't been able to find any even after searching for quite a while.

Answer:android phone drivers

No drivers are required. They are supplied by the Windows Operating System.
When plugging the phone into the other computer that doesn't see it, press the Win key+X and choose Device Manager. Are there any yellow flags? If so, right click it and Uninstall it. Remove the USB cable from the computer end and restart the computer. When it comes back up, plug the USB Cable into the Back USB port of the computer (desktop). With the phone turned on and unlocked, Be sure to Allow the phone to be accessed by the computer.

I'm little bit confused b/w android and windows phone? Because everytime i ask to someone for suggestion they always suggest me to choose android... Thats why suggest me better phone for me upto or below $300..... It can be from HP slate6 voice tab or samsung grand 2 or nokia L1320 or any other also if you know something better..?

Answer:Why Windows Phone not Android?

They tell you to go Android because it's perceived as cool.
If you want apps, go Android. If you want a better overall experience (generally speaking), go Windows Phone.
Personally, I really think you should go for what you perceive is the better choice. There's too much white noise in the sea of information, after all, and it would shame me to know you go for the white noise...
(Please do note that my statement above is of my opinion. Feel free to disagree. Especially with that last part. Because I could be the white noise in this scenario.)

Not sure on other issues, but I get this at times when looking at Google and/or Android sites

For me IE hasn't actually frozen, its just taking a while to load up the page and task manager flags it as not responding, if you ignore it for 30 seconds or so it comes back to life (clicking in IE when in not responding does kill it though)

not looked at it to closely, but for my slow bb, I see a lot of network activity when this is happening, like its caching lots of data

I know I sound crazy but I am starting to miss Itunes. I had my MP3 folder with a batch of copied stuff from my main archive. It was organized for Windows. Most of the time Itunes was easy to use in that I droped the folder into it and made it my default folder so I could delete stuff from the MP3 folder via itunes it processed it and bam working very few issues. I never got duplicate playlist had some improperly removed mp3 files which stuck in itunes.

Right now I am having so many issues updating my mp3's and playlists and with duplicate playlists, empty playlists its driving me nuts. How do you manage and sync songs for android without a ton of issues? I was jsut copying the folder over but the dump way android handles files I can not use my windows sync programs. I got tired of it screwing things up so I tried winamp and it just had to sort everything in a horrible incoherent manner(album/artist folders ,ect) and that did not fix any of my issues. Out of the few players I like I like Shuffle and Rocket player but as far as I understand it they don't control anything they just play. Right now I have 50GB of mp3's on my micro sd card and its reporting 80k music files.... its nonsense....

I am just so lost.

Answer:Best way to sync mp3 folder to an android phone?

Hi. Calm down! I guess you just changed from iPhone to Android phone not long ago? Once you plug in your Android, you should see a portable device folder where you can manage all the files in your Android. If this doesn't work, there are also many desktop syncing programs just like iTunes, such as iTools, Apowersoft Phone Manager, MobileGo, etc. However, personally, I would recommend you to use wireless apps like AirMore for managing Android files on web or Pushbullet for transferring files in a fast way.

I have an MP3 file of a ringtone that I have put in One Drive from Dropbox - as my phone only gives me the option of getting a file from One Drive. When I access One Drive via my computer, the file is showing as an MP3 file (and plays as an MP3 file), yet accessing One Drive through my phone (a Samsung Galaxy J3 2017 Europe), it is no longer showing as a .mp3 file type. It is therefore not functioning as a ringtone and will not add to the ringtones when I click to add it.
Any ideas on how/why the file has converted and how I can download it as a playable MP3 file? I did not have this problem on my previous two Samsung phones as they weren't forcing me to link to One Drive. I have had to sign up for an account especially just to download and I'm peeved that it is not working.

A PC does not have a touch screen.Google just announced a better emulator last month.Google's Android emulator gets updated with GPU support, better CPU performanceQuoteGoogle brought some improvements to its Android emulator when it updated the SDK last month, but it's now back with an even bigger update that's sure to please developers. The latest version finally adds built-in GPU support, which Google says will help the emulator better keep pace with current smartphones that rely so heavily on GPUs themselves.Download Google Android Emulator

Hi - when I use the Chrome browser on my phone, I get linked to the above named page, with a spinning roulette wheel, telling me I have a chance to win an iphone 6. I have Malwarebytes, AVG and pop ups disabled. The back button doesn't work either.
Any idea how I can get rid of it? I've Googled it and although there are some references to it, there doesn't seem to be a solution.
Thanks.

Can anyone suggest some software that will enable me to upload videos to my Win7 pc taken with my HTC Desire HD Android phone? Unlike my Canon digital camera where i can remove the SD card, i'm reluctant to do this with my phone. I have several videos of my 6yr old granddaughter that i'd like to back up. I don't mind paying for software but would prefer a free version until i'm happy with the results, then upgrade if necessary.

Answer:How to upload videos from my Android phone

On my Android phone i connect it to my PC and it mounts it in Windows as a drive which you can then browse and copy files to and from it
No need for any software

I ripped a number of cds to my laptop via Windows Media player. I then synced them to my android phone but, when trying to play them, receive the "Sorry, this song cannot be played" message. Any ideas how I can fix this?

Answer:Sorry, this song cannot be played on Android phone?

Likely they are in .wma format. You need a player that will accept the file format.
Try JukeFox.

I have had no luck connecting to new BLU R1 HD phone to my Windows 10 desktop via USB.

I have tried 2 different USB ports & 2 different cables (which worked for my old phone).

I have "data transfer" enabled on the phone using MTP.

Nothing shows up in File Explorer, but I do see a new unknown device appear in the Device Manager under "Other". Properties show no Driver installed, but Update Driver s/w appears to find drivers locally in C:\Windows\INF or by searching online, however these fail to install with the same error.

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

A service installation section in this INF is invalid.

To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.
Any help will be much appreciated!

Answer:Cannot see Android 6 BLU R1 HD phone with USB connectito Windows 10 PC

Look in the notification area on the phone. You might see a notification that phone is in charge mode. Tap on that notification should reveal a number of options from which you can choose File Transfer. This should enable the drivers to be installed which should happen automatically and the ability to work with you phones data in File Explorer

I downloaded a telnet program called ConnectBot for my Android phone. I have a cisco lab rack of equipment with an access server that I can use to study remotely. The Access Server is set to control 8 different devices, and when multiple connections are used, I type <Ctrl><Shift>6+x to revert back to the AS to switch to another device.

Has anyone successfully done this using ConnectBot or maybe another telnet program? I can do a <Ctrl>+6, but am not able to figure out how to do the entire sequence of keystrokes.

Thanks,
Bedrock1977
